Outsourcing American Jobs Hurt U.s. Economy Essay
Outsourcing American Jobs Hurt U.S. Economy The dawn of the outsourcing era. Many large U.S.
corporations cultivates outsourcing faster than we can imagine. The trend that began in the late 1970
and picked up speed in the 1900s with the opening trade with China, India, and Eastern Europe (
Outsourcing: What s the true Impact ). In its broadest sense, outsourcing is simply contracting out
functions that had been done in house a longtime U.S. practice ( Globalization: Threat or Opportunity
). Subsequently, outsourcing is an essential part of globalization; and it is the combination of markets
through the cooperation of internalization, federal, and state governments with corporate companies to
produce products on a reduce production cost, and offer services on lower labor cost. When a U.S.
manufacture product, and buys material from an intermediate supplier from out of the country rather
than producing them in house, that is what is called outsourcing. Also, when U.S. corporation hires
outside contractor out of the country to do U.S. call center services for less labor cost that is
outsourcing. When a company deals out its operational task, such as payroll, accounting, and software
operations that is outsourcing. Obviously, all of these examples seem to benefit and in favor of the
corporations. To get the clear understanding of outsourcing for major corporation perspective, I have
interviewed IKEA s U.S. Deputy Retail Country Manager Rob Olson about outsourcing Swedish

The Between The Scottish And Chinese Products
In January of 2010, Mr. Li Kequiang who was vice premier of the state council of China contacted
Pelamis Wave Power Corporation in Scotland for a visit. The purpose of this visit was to view a
project that converted the kinetic wave energy of the ocean into electrical energy. Li was accompanied
by many senior Chinese officials during this visit, which totaled about sixty people. Two months later
there was a break in of the building Pelamis occupied, and five laptops containing design information
were stolen. The interesting thing in this case was that the burglars skipped the first floor occupants,
who were the Siemens Corporation, and went straight to Pelamis. A few years later the Chinese
produced a similar project called the Hailong 1. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Note that the terms of corporate and industrial espionage are used interchangeably in my research.
One may wonder what the roots of competitive intelligence, intellectual espionage, and reverse
engineering are. On the surface, it may seem clear that there is a distinction between competitive
intelligence and corporate espionage. One is gained legally, as a means of retaining corporate
relevance, while the other is gained illegally and at in some cases in an indignant fashion [4].
According to David Blenkhorn, a professor at Wilfrid Laurier University, this topic is not
appropriately discussed in universities today. It is not clear or obvious how one should treat corporate
intelligence ethically, as cultural viewpoints skew the morality of the situation. It certainly could be
argued that this information gathering is a necessary and sufficient means to an end. Dr. Blenkhorn
notes that there is a generally accepted ethical view with respect to information gathering in Europe
and North America, but in other countries, this perspective is quite different. To some degree this may
be a normalization of deviance, where over time, such actions are simply accepted as a means of
holding a business or national security edge, and thus over time becomes ingrained into the culture.
Interestingly, according to Professor Blenkhorn, one of his students from Russia was taught how to
conduct industrial

Essay on German Renaissance and Its Influence on Austrian...
The German renaissance took place during the sixteenth century in Europe. The Renaissance was a
time of discovery and learning. The word renaissance means rebirth or revival. The German
renaissance inspired just that, a revival and rebirth of education and art. The people of Europe became
interested in art and music during the renaissance. Education was also changing as the people became
more interested in sciences and philosophy. German art work from this time period was dominated by
local and independent schools. German art was largely based on the Gothic international style.
German art was also greatly influenced by work in the Netherlands, and became more influential as
time went on. The German artist Albrecht Durer was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

woodcuts and engravings. As was customary for young men who finished their apprenticeships (Durer

pursuing his artistic talents and developing them into something great. Throughout Durer s life he will
make journeys to other countries in Europe to meet other artists and gain more knowledge about art
and science. Albrecht Durer s first journey began in 1492 when he tired to join the workshop of
German painter and engraver Martin Schongauer (Durer Microsoft online). Unfortunately schongauer
had recently died, but Durer was told to travel to the Swiss publishing center of Basel if he wanted to
find work. Once in Basel Durer began his work and created illustrations for several publications. Still
early in his life, Durer s art depicted his skills with lines and sharp observation of detail. His first
famous piece of art that really shows his skills with lines and detail can be seen in a series of self
portraits that he drew when he was twenty years old. Durer had returned to Nurnberg to marry Anges

Aunt Gordon Monologue
I remember the first time I ever set eyes on Gracie Adams; she was sitting on her front porch holding
on tight to a piece of white paper in her right hand while drying her tears with the other. Her little
sparrow legs were sticking out from under her faded blue floral dress and her flaming red hair was
tossed and tangled. Maw had sent me on an errand to the grocery store to get some sugar for her
morning coffee when I came across Gracie sobbing her heart out. I had a mind to keep on walking but

The Gulf Of Mexico And America
The Gulf of Mexico is a partially locked body of water surrounded by the North American continent
(Gulf of Mexico, 2000). The gulf links five southern U.S states: Florida, Alabama, Mississippi,
Louisiana, and Texas and six Mexican states: Tamaulipas, Vera Cruz, Tabasco, Campeche, Yucatán,
and Quintana Roo (Gulf of Mexico Facts, 2015). The gulf surrounds Cuba and connects to the Atlantic
Ocean. The Gulf of Mexico may just seem like another body of water, but that is far from the truth.
This body of water has many contributions to society and society has also affected it in many ways
because of its resources. Before doing any research I believed that the Gulf of Mexico was owned by
Mexico and I found out that this was a misconception. No one other than the federal government owns
this body of water. There are Territorial waters, which are areas of a body of water that contact land
and are claimed by an specific country (Who Owns the Gulf of Mexico? 2010). This means that there
is a 12 miles wide band that would belong to what ever land it touches. For example 12 miles out of
the coast of Florida belong to the United States. However, parts of the Gulf of Mexico can be leased to
petroleum and gas companies in order for the government and the companies to create a profit. The
word profit takes me to one of my points of this paper on how the Gulf of Mexico helps the people
and the country. The Gulf of Mexico benefits North America greatly because of its economical
aspects.

Thus, all distributed applications, including remote logon, client/server, email, file transfer, Web

relatively general purpose solution is to implement security just above TCP by using Secure Sockets
Layer (SSL) and the follow on Internet standard Transport Layer Security (TLS). For full generality,
SSL, (TLS) could be provided as part of the underlying protocol suite and therefore be transparent to
applications. Alternatively, SSL can be embedded in specific packages.
Critique the transition process performed by the DMS in the case study. Then, recommend two (2)
alternatives to the IP Infrastructure or applications not already mentioned in the case study: By the
early 1990s, the Florida department of management services (DMS) had built up a large information

architecture (SNA) from IBM and mainframe at the data center that housed most of the applications.
Although relatively happy with the SNA application and services by providing TCP/IP capability and

Proper Healthy Lifestyles
Proper healthy lifestyles start at the households and begin with parenting. Our leaders of Guam need
to recognize that diabetes is a growing issue on the island. Diabetes leads to strokes and heart attacks,
which are some of the common cause of death on this island. The main problem is that people on the
island of Guam fail to understand the seriousness of diabetes. It is always fun and nice to see a
supposedly overweight child because to the cultural norm it is acceptable in society.
People fail to realize that we are placing a huge burden on innocent lives who somewhat don t have
any control over their eating habits. We must start to treat the patients on Guam rather than the
statistical numbers. The life expectancy is estimated around 76 years, but it used to be longer in the
olden days. The lifestyle as well as the economy has made a major impact on the people of Guam s
health. Parents are not doing their children a favor by practicing poor eating habits and partaking in
smoking and drinking routines. This issue is definitely obvious and the dialysis treatment centers are
continuing to grow. That is one treatment center to be proud of because it just states that the island of
Guam has an underlying problem with health issues. If the community cannot participate and promote
good health the island will not be the same in 10 years.
Diabetic patients will not have a comfortable lifestyle and they will continue to worsen over time. The

Emile Durkheim Social Fact Essay
Stated in The Rules of Sociological Method Durkheim defines social fact to concepts and
expectations that come from society, not the individual. Many examples prove that social fact
only exists where social organization is present, such as the legal system, as well as the education
system. Durkheim states that social organization is not needed in social fact, and that social fact
is all those issues that society pushes to be acted orderly.
The legal system is a prime example of social fact. The legal system is a strict set of laws and
regulations that must be followed by each individual. It is to society s interest that these
regulations be followed. When someone makes the decision to take someone else s life, there is a
process that is taken ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The offender planned out this murder, therefore it points him to a path of legal
stages that come to no surprise to him or society. If a driver is pulling out of her driveway, and
kills someone because she wasn t aware of her blind spot, she then would go through an entirely
different process. Factors taken into consideration would be that she was sober, there was no
intent to harm, and physically could not see the victim. She then would be taken through steps of
the legal system as well. When reading those examples, it is no shock to society what is going to
happen to each of these offenders. The reason for this is because rules and regulations of the law
are at interest of society. When these laws are broken, there is an orderly system to deal with
each and every offense, therefore making the legal system a social fact.
Religion is another example of social fact. Christians baptize babies very quickly after birth,
church is attended on Sundays, and there is a priest present every day at church. In Islamic
religions, prayers are to be done everyone morning before sunrise, until sunrise, with no issue to
be an excuse for distraction. All though the example of religion is not at systematic

Damon Pythias
This essay will examine Damon Pythias by William F. Russell and how the author has used literary
elements in creating this heartwarming essay. It shows us just how important friends and good, tight
friendships are. This essay is going talk about two friends that would literally die for each other. In the
story of Damon Pythias, they were two noble men who had the strongest, most loyal friendship in all
of Syracuse. The tone in this story would have to be awestruck. I say it s awestruck because it shows it
when it says, In reply, however, Damon merely smiled, since, in spite of the fact that the eleventh hour
had already arrived, he still believed that his lifelong companion would not fail him. Even when, a
short time later, he was actually led out to the site of his execution, his serenity remained the same

Innocence is when you are pure, clean and vain. This is due to the fact that you haven t experienced

Analyzing Networked Control Systems For Network Induced...
Abstract Networked Control Systems (NCS) are the control systems in which the control loop is
connected through a communication channel. There has been an increased attention to the use of
Network Control System (NCS) in recent years because of their cost effective and flexible
applications. But one of the major issues that need to be studied and solved in NCS is the delay of the
data transmission which occurs throughout the communication network in the system and thus
degrades the control system performance and also causes the system instability. This paper basically
presents an analysis of network delay in NCS. In this paper, we have designed a model of delay
control system for network induced delay using the simulation model of network control system delay
and thus analysed the effect of network delay on the performance of the control system. The TrueTime
toolbox of Matlab/Simulink is used for simulating the NCS model.
Keywords networked control system, network delay, control performance, truetime, stability

In conventional control systems, control signals are sent over the loop using analog or digital
technology whereas in modern control systems, the control loop is closed through a real time
communication network by T. C. Yang et al. [1]. The Networked Control Systems (NCSs) are the
distributed control systems in which the system components (sensors, actuators and controllers) are

Technology Impact On Lifestyle
Technology: The Impact on Health and Lifestyle
Many people these days tend to shy from person to person conversations. Why? Because of
technology, people these days lack the experience and courage to speak to each other without being
timid or awkward. It has become a normal habit in our society to communicate through phones and
laptops. Day by day, our generation is slowly developing a horrible future by losing social skills.
Majority of of the current generation believe that internet is important and that we need technology to
communicate. Also, humans believe that living a healthy life is important. Who knew that spending
too much time with technology is causing human health to fade? Technology could possibly kill us or
harm our health in numerous unspeakable ways. Something as simple as holding a phone, texting,
watching T.V, or playing video games can have a significant effect on our health. Electronical devices
start as far back as 1835 when Joseph Henry, who was an American scientist, created the first
electronical remote device. Joseph created a remote switch that was used as part of a telegraph. Henry
s remote idea was later used for improving telephones. Electronics were first invented to help people
communicate and/or improve their everyday lives. They were meant to enhance people s lives by
making life easier. These days, those factors have been replaced from being helpful to being used for
personal pleasure. Now, people are using electronic devices in improper

Columbia College
A Generation Lost In the Workplace
The workplace is ever changing. There are currently four generations in the work environment today,
and because of longer life expectancies it will soon by five as the youngest generation enters the
workforce joining the current four. Generational transitions in the work environment cause the shift of
power to be handed from one generation to the next. These transitions are complex but they have
never bypassed a generation. Today s workplace is overlooking an entire generation, that generation is
Generation X. Current power holders, Boomers, are bypassing Generation X and handing the reins to
Millennials. Failing to utilize Generation X is a mistake, and managers can maximize employees my
utilizing this overlooked sector of the workforce.
Generations
The oldest generation in the workforce is the Greatest Generation or also known as Traditionalist
(born prior to 1946) ( Mixing and Managing Four Generations of Employees FDU ). They came of
age during the great depression, the start of the cold war to be seen and not heard (MU Extension).
Believing in a work ethic of loyalty, tenure, and quietly working hard gets rewarded. While some are
still employed full, and it seems will never retire, many have handed off the reins to Baby Boomers.

Symptoms And Effects Of Major Depression
Despite an increase in the percentage of people who acknowledge symptoms of depression in 2010 in
comparison to the 1980 s, according to San Diego State University s Jean Twenge, there is not an
increase in the number of people willing to admit that they suffer from this mood disorder (S.D.
University, 2014). Consequently, it leaves one questioning how many of these individuals are
proceeding in regular life routines while allowing the disturbances of mood to escalate; thus,
increasing the symptoms and effects of major depression (Nevid, 2015, p. 504). According to Nevid,
the percentage of those remaining untreated is approximately fifty percent, with the percentages being
highest amongst Latinos and African Americans (Nevid, 2015). Additionally, it is known that the
recurrence of major depression, which is considered the most common type of depressive disorder,
characterized by a downcast disposition, an outlook of insignificance, and a lack of interest to engage
in normal activities, is highly likely (Nevid, 2015, p. 505). Moreover, this form of depression is often
accompanied by fatigue, sleep issues, changes in eating habits, anxiety, guilt, irritability, concentration
difficulties, bodily discomforts, and suicidal thoughts (Nevid, 2015, p. 505). Consequently, having
grasped an understanding of this form of depression, it is important to recognize the various

Psychoactive Drugs Can Be Defined As Any Chemical Substance
Psychoactive drugs can be defined as any chemical substance, whether it be of a synthetic or of an
organic nature, used with the purpose of altering an individual s psychological state of mind, mood or
perception (Gossop, 1993, cited in Saggers Gray, 1998). According to Fleckenstein, Hanson Venturelli
(2014), drugs are allocated into two categories consisting of illegal and legal. Illegal drugs usually
consist of hallucinogenic substances such as marijuana (however, can be used for medical reasons),
crack cocaine, ecstasy and others. The law prohibits use of these substances and can also result in
social stigma. On the other hand, legal drugs consist of substances such as coffee, tobacco, alcohol
and over the counter (OTC) drugs, to a high extent these drugs are usually socially accepted and the
effects are inconspicuous if used in moderation.
Statistics of drug use amongst youth in the UK
According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NHI) (2012a), deaths regarding drug use has
doubled since the 1980 s, furthermore it is stated that there are more illnesses and disabilities from
drug abuse than any other avoidable health condition. There are many reasons why young people may
choose to indulge in the risky behaviour that is drug use. Individuals may feel pressured by their peers,

King Pyrrhus Epicus Battle
You have won the battle, but what has been lost? A Pyrrhic victory is when something in won, but
with great loss in order to do so. This term came from the King of Pyrrhus battle in Asculum, and his
quote: If I should ever conquer again in this fashion, it would be my ruin . This term can be used to
describe many battles throughout history, but it is important to understand the original Pyrrhic victory.
King Pyrrhus of Epicus had a great army, with noble reason to fight, but he was fighting too
formidable a foe. King Pyrrhus army was very large. It consisted of between 25,000 30,000 trained
individuals. This army included footmen, archers, slingers, horsemen, and elephants. Elephants had
never been used in battle against the Romans before, and they had likely never seen them. This army
won King Pyrrhus several battles, although in his battle in Asculum, where he defeated the Romans,
he lost many of his men. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But unlike many men of this time, Pyrrhus was a kind ruler who treated his subjects well. King
Pyrrhus envisioned conquest of the Romans, because all others would fall after that, since the Romans
were the strongest nation. In a discussion with one of his diplomats, King Pyrrhus speaks of this. The
Romans, sir, are reported to be great warriors and conquerors of many warlike nations; if God permits
us to overcome them, how should we use our victory? to which King Pyrrhus replied, You ask a thing
evident of itself. Once the Romans are conquered there is neither Greek nor barbarian city that will

The Threat Of The Internet
The internet has become a vital way for organizations and the government to share and collect
information. The rapid increase in the use of new technologies has made it difficult for the law to keep
up with immerging threats. Cybercrimes were up 10.4% in 2014, and it does not look like the threats
will be decreasing anytime soon (Kassner, 2014). The country and organizations, need to be aware of
the threats out there and protect their systems.
The Target Cybersecurity Breach There have been many breaches in the past few years that have made
headlines in the news. Almost all of these breaches could have been prevented if proper security
protocols were in place. The Target breach is not an exception to this. Between November 27th, 2013
and December 15th, 2013 hackers took 40 million credit and debit card numbers ( Krebs on Security ,
2014). Seventy million records were taken that included email addresses, and the names of Target
shoppers ( Krebs on Security,Target , 2014). This breach has cost Target sixty one million dollars as of
February 2014 (Riley, Elgin, Lawrence Matlack, 2014).
How did it happen?
This was a known busy time for Target, because of the holidays. The hackers targeted payment
systems and put malware on the systems (Riley et al., 2014). The malware was able to get into the
system because the hackers were able to gain access to credentials from an HVAC vendor (Riley et al.,
2014). Further, six months before the breach Target had a strong

The Accomplishments of Bouteflika s Presidency in Algeria
When he became President in April 1999, Bouteflika was in front of three enormous challenges. The
first one was the result of a decade of domestic violence and insecurity. The second was the
consequence of a catastrophic socio economic situation attributed to the legacy of decades of statist
economics (Bouandel 25 26). The third was the harmful product of the isolation of Algeria from the
rest of the world, or what Hugh Roberts called the virtual quarantine in which Algeria had been
confined since 1994 ( Demilitarising ... 1). In the course of his tenure, he brought about national
reconciliation, recovered and reformed the stalled Algerian economy and restored what he described
as Algeria s regional and international status .1 Under his leadership, Algiers has become a much
sought after interlocutor in major world capitals (Ghilès). His civil concord and national reconciliation
initiatives to re establish peace and security at home, and his projects to revive the economy of his
troubled nation, and to re integrate Algeria, one of the potentially richest and important countries in
the Arab world, in international trade and diplomacy persuaded many foreign countries to mend
relations with Algiers. Although Algeria s relations with global powers continued to face difficulties,
Bouteflika used his country s significant economic potential to give Algeria a considerable importance
in the eyes of all global actors.Wherever he went, he provided an overview of the investment

How Does Brutus Use Logos In Killing Caesar
Brutus use of logos in his funeral speech was ineffective because they were logical fallacies and were
not supported by solid facts. Brutus thought that Caesar s nature would change after he obtained more
power and authority, and that keeping Caesar around would be very catastrophic, since he could turn
his back against his people any time. In Brutus funeral speech, he tried to convince the Plebeians that
Caesar was too ambitious, was a threat to the Roman Republic, and will cause the Plebeians to
become suppressed and enslaved. As Brutus said to the Plebeians, Had you rather Caesar were living
and die all slaves, than that Caesar dead, to live all free men (III.ii.24 26)? In this quote, Brutus
justified killing Caesar by saying that if

Building Codes Analysis
The practice of building codes is to ensure the safety, structural stability and health. Through the years
many codes have been imposed to fix problems have occurred in the construction of the building or
after it been constructed. Building codes are interpenetrated different depending on the location it s
being built. This is due to local officials of the area who have the power to change codes or arrange
than to meet the requirement for the area. The reason every country, state, and the city have their own
way to interpenetrate codes differently is because the building must adapt to the surrounding area.
When the architect being designing a set of drawing not only does he or she has to meet all the
requirement for the building itself but the requirement needed to build in the area. For example, a
building in Colorado and a building in Florida will have different codes in place that give the building
many characteristics. One code that would be different is frost line this mean how depth the ground
doesn t freeze in the winter. Since Colorado tend to be very cold in winter reaching low temperature
the frost line will be deeper than Florida that stays warm all most all year. According to Allen, E.,

The Life Of Constantine, A Roman Emperor Of The Roman Empire
The life of Constantine, a Roman emperor from 306 to 337 AD, is explained by two different accounts
that differ from each other. The first one that was written by Eusebius in 337 AD states that
Constantine is a victorious, pious emperor who helps others and orders the construction of sacred
places to honor Christ. The second account was written in 520 AD by Zosimus and it states that
Constantine is an impious, arrogant and selfish emperor who is responsible of the Roman Empire s
collapse. Eusebius, a bishop, wrote a eulogy to honor Constantine upon his death in 337 AD. He pays
his respect to Constantine by stating all, indeed, with one voice and one mouth, declared that
Constantine had appeared by the grace of God as a general blessing to mankind. In this statement,
Eusebius clearly emphasizes the importance that Constantine has in the Romans life, and how they all
agree that in fact he is a good influence for the Romans. He also considers him as the victorious, the
pious, the common benefactor who helps people and worships God. Others characteristics about
Constantine s personality are depicted by Eusebius such as Constantine s ambition and his goal
oriented mind. He s goal oriented personality is depicted when the author states, (...) at the same time
granting ample supplies of money, and commanding that the house of prayer worthy of the worship of
God should be erected near the Saviour s tomb on a scale of rich and royal greatness. In this statement,

Truman Made the Right Choice
President Harry Truman s use of the atomic bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan during the
Second World War is the most controversial decision in history. While it was an undoubtedly difficult
decision, it was indeed necessary in order to end this six year war that had ravaged the world. While
many critics argue that the bomb was used primarily as an act of vengeance toward Japan, simplifying
such a crucial moment in human history downplays the very real threat Japan posed to the United
States. While avoiding strained relations with the other Allied countries, Truman had to assess the
possible danger of the Soviet Union in a post war world. Furthermore, the possibility of an arms race,

The response of the panel to which the concern was sent was that the use of the bomb would be an
obvious means of saving American lives and shortening the war. While these scientists did not agree
on the issue of its use, all believed it was necessary to control this new technology through
international cooperation. Due to the aforementioned increasing tensions between the two emerging
superpowers, an issue of great concern was if, how and when to approach the Soviets with the news of
the Manhattan Project. In spite of the differences between the Soviets and the United States, by
Truman s main concern was keeping unity amongst the Big Three , realizing that ending the war
depended on the support of both Britain and the Soviet Union. The Interim Committee unanimously
agreed that Truman should inform of the development of the weapon and our plans to use it against
the enemy. They did not advise giving the Soviets specific details of the project, only informing them
in order to enlist Russian cooperation in the set up of future international controls of this new
technology. Of course, because of the terms of the Quebec Agreement, it would also be necessary to
discuss this with Churchill. The continuation of keeping facts from the Soviet Union in spite of the

The Origin Of The Greaser Subculture In America
The term subculture is defined in the dictionary as a culture within a broader mainstream culture, with
its own separate values, practices, and beliefs. Studying subculture in the perspective of a sociologist,
is to understand and comprehend a specific culture. In today s modern society of America, there are
many variety of subcultures that a sociologist can examine from the past or in today s society. For this
paper, the chosen subculture to be investigated is the greaser subculture. Greasers are defined as a
working class youth subculture that originated in the 1950s among teenagers in northeastern and
southern United States. The paper will discuss the specifics on the origin of the greaser subculture in
America along with other factors that came along with it in history. The origin of the term greaser was
originally a derogatory name taken from the Greaser Act of 1855. The Act was passed in California
meant to deride workers or laborers of Mexican background in the middle of the 19th century. It was
also applied to Mexican with disdain due to their jobs at greasing wagon carts. The name for a greaser
in the fifties was given due to the unique hairstyle applied with hair wax and slicked back. How the
subculture of greasers came to be in America was that in the late 1940 s after the end of World War,
the male soldiers were either being discharged or sent back home. Most them were suffering from
what was known as shell shock or battle fatigue from the battlefields.

Melancholia Depression
Melancholia: Depression on Film Melancholia is defined as a mental condition characterized by
extreme depression, bodily complaints, and often hallucinations and delusions. Lars von Trier wrote
the film during his own episode of severe depression, and noted the tendency of the depressed to
remain peaceful during catastrophic events. To reflect this detached sense of reality, Lars Von Trier
rejected his rigidly realistic Dogma 95 principles for a dreamlike aesthetic that represents the
depressed mind of the main character Justine (played by Kirsten Dunst). He splits the film into two
parts with each part named after one of the main characters. Part one is named after Justine and takes
place during the night of her wedding reception. Justine ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The most graphic allusion is when Justine, in her wedding dress and with a bouquet of flowers, is
floating lifeless down a stream of water. This is a recreation of John Everett Millais painting entitled
Ophelia. Ophelia, a character from Shakespeare s Hamlet, is perhaps the most famous depressive in all
of literature. Justine embodies this image of being trapped and detached from loved ones, through her
emotionless and dead eyed expressions. Justine and Claire both try to escape during the film but they
both fail; therefore, they are literally trapped on the mansion property, which gives an increasing sense
of hopelessness and dread. Richard Wagner s song, Prelude to Triston and Isolde, is played as a
haunting refrain throughout the film. The song mixes depression with beauty and desire, like how the
beautiful aesthetic of the film mixes with the hopelessness on screen. I appreciate that Lars von Trier
rejects end of the world movie clichés, and instead shows something deeper and more poetic. The end
of the world is experienced through the broken Justine and Claire, and not shown through massive
destructions of major cities and mass hysteria. The end of the world is a fiercely intimate and
unescaping event, instead of a time filled with last minute hook ups and hedonistic bucket lists. It is
interesting to watch how Justine and Claire react to the knowledge of their impending

A Brief Note On Business Management And Cost Costs
Economics
Gavin Clark
HND Business

In the simplest term, total cost is all the costs incurred in the production of a product or the
engagement of an activity. Total costs are calculated through adding together the total fixed costs and

the amount of services used. Fixed costs are costs that don t change each month due to having no
relationship with the amount of products produced.

The first is the barriers to entry for new firms. Because there are few firms operating in the market, it
can be very difficult to enter the market. In some highly profitable and competitive markets, it can be
near impossible to get a foothold in the market. Another characteristic is the interdependence of firms.
Because of the few number of firms operating, they need to take into account the actions the others.
This means they are dependent on the other firms. All the firms are affected by their rival s actions for
things like price, product specification and advertising. None of the firms can stop observing the other
businesses as this could leave them at a disadvantage in the way they operate.
With an oligopoly, the demand curve is both elastic and inelastic. If the demand curve is above the
kink, it is elastic. This is because if the firm attempts to put the price up, the other firms operating will
not follow them in doing so. If the demand curve is below the kink, it is inelastic. This is because the
other firms will follow them as customers will switch to the cheaper business, if they don t demand to
go down.
3.
A monopoly market structure is when a single business is operating in a market unchallenged and
without competition. This means that if people need a specific product or service there is only one
business to buy it form. This leads to the single business

Outsourcing American JobsHurt U.s. Economy Essay Outsourcing American Jobs Hurt U.S. Economy The dawn of the outsourcing era. Many large U.S. corporations cultivates outsourcing faster than we can imagine. The trend that began in the late 1970 and picked up speed in the 1900s with the opening trade with China, India, and Eastern Europe ( Outsourcing: What s the true Impact ). In its broadest sense, outsourcing is simply contracting out functions that had been done in house a longtime U.S. practice ( Globalization: Threat or Opportunity ). Subsequently, outsourcing is an essential part of globalization; and it is the combination of markets through the cooperation of internalization, federal, and state governments with corporate companies to produce products on a reduce production cost, and offer services on lower labor cost. When a U.S. manufacture product, and buys material from an intermediate supplier from out of the country rather than producing them in house, that is what is called outsourcing. Also, when U.S. corporation hires outside contractor out of the country to do U.S. call center services for less labor cost that is outsourcing. When a company deals out its operational task, such as payroll, accounting, and software operations that is outsourcing. Obviously, all of these examples seem to benefit and in favor of the corporations. Note that the terms of corporate and industrial espionage are used interchangeably in my research. One may wonder what the roots of competitive intelligence, intellectual espionage, and reverse engineering are. On the surface, it may seem clear that there is a distinction between competitive intelligence and corporate espionage. One is gained legally, as a means of retaining corporate relevance, while the other is gained illegally and at in some cases in an indignant fashion [4]. According to David Blenkhorn, a professor at Wilfrid Laurier University, this topic is not appropriately discussed in universities today. It is not clear or obvious how one should treat corporate intelligence ethically, as cultural viewpoints skew the morality of the situation. It certainly could be argued that this information gathering is a necessary and sufficient means to an end. Dr. Blenkhorn notes that there is a generally accepted ethical view with respect to information gathering in Europe and North America, but in other countries, this perspective is quite different. To some degree this may be a normalization of deviance, where over time, such actions are simply accepted as a means of holding a business or national security edge, and thus over time becomes ingrained into the culture. The gulf surrounds Cuba and connects to the Atlantic Ocean. The Gulf of Mexico may just seem like another body of water, but that is far from the truth. This body of water has many contributions to society and society has also affected it in many ways because of its resources. There are Territorial waters, which are areas of a body of water that contact land and are claimed by an specific country (Who Owns the Gulf of Mexico? 2010). This means that there is a 12 miles wide band that would belong to what ever land it touches. For example 12 miles out of the coast of Florida belong to the United States. However, parts of the Gulf of Mexico can be leased to petroleum and gas companies in order for the government and the companies to create a profit. Proper Healthy Lifestyles Properhealthy lifestyles start at the households and begin with parenting. Our leaders of Guam need to recognize that diabetes is a growing issue on the island. Diabetes leads to strokes and heart attacks, which are some of the common cause of death on this island. The main problem is that people on the island of Guam fail to understand the seriousness of diabetes. It is always fun and nice to see a supposedly overweight child because to the cultural norm it is acceptable in society. People fail to realize that we are placing a huge burden on innocent lives who somewhat don t have any control over their eating habits. We must start to treat the patients on Guam rather than the statistical numbers. The life expectancy is estimated around 76 years, but it used to be longer in the olden days. The lifestyle as well as the economy has made a major impact on the people of Guam s health. Parents are not doing their children a favor by practicing poor eating habits and partaking in smoking and drinking routines. This issue is definitely obvious and the dialysis treatment centers are continuing to grow. That is one treatment center to be proud of because it just states that the island of Guam has an underlying problem with health issues. If the community cannot participate and promote good health the island will not be the same in 10 years. Diabetic patients will not have a comfortable lifestyle and they will continue to worsen over time. The island of Guam is known for a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Emile Durkheim SocialFact Essay Stated in The Rules of Sociological Method Durkheim defines social fact to concepts and expectations that come from society, not the individual. Many examples prove that social fact only exists where social organization is present, such as the legal system, as well as the education system. Durkheim states that social organization is not needed in social fact, and that social fact is all those issues that society pushes to be acted orderly. The legal system is a prime example of social fact. The legal system is a strict set of laws and regulations that must be followed by each individual. It is to society s interest that these regulations be followed. When someone makes the decision to take someone else s life, there is a process that is taken ... If a driver is pulling out of her driveway, and kills someone because she wasn t aware of her blind spot, she then would go through an entirely different process. Factors taken into consideration would be that she was sober, there was no intent to harm, and physically could not see the victim. She then would be taken through steps of the legal system as well. When reading those examples, it is no shock to society what is going to happen to each of these offenders. The reason for this is because rules and regulations of the law are at interest of society. When these laws are broken, there is an orderly system to deal with each and every offense, therefore making the legal system a social fact. Religion is another example of social fact. Christians baptize babies very quickly after birth, church is attended on Sundays, and there is a priest present every day at church. In Islamic

Damon And PythiasEssay Damon Pythias This essay will examine Damon Pythias by William F. Russell and how the author has used literary elements in creating this heartwarming essay. It shows us just how important friends and good, tight friendships are. This essay is going talk about two friends that would literally die for each other. In the story of Damon Pythias, they were two noble men who had the strongest, most loyal friendship in all of Syracuse. The tone in this story would have to be awestruck. I say it s awestruck because it shows it when it says, In reply, however, Damon merely smiled, since, in spite of the fact that the eleventh hour had already arrived, he still believed that his lifelong companion would not fail him. Even when, a short time later, he was actually led out to the site of his execution, his serenity remained the same (Russell 70). Innocence In Poem Onceyou start asking questions innocence is lost Mary Astor What is innocence? How is it lost? There are many cases in which innocence can be lost , some of which are portrayed in the two poems. Innocence is when you are pure, clean and vain. This is due to the fact that you haven t experienced any corruptions which would give you spiritual wisdom that is useful in decision making in future situations. These poems , Out Out and Disabled, both portray the loss of innocence Today I will be comparing and contrasting the loss of innocence between these poems , in addition to this I will also be describing how innocence was lost. Analyzing Networked ControlSystems For Network Induced... Abstract Networked Control Systems (NCS) are the control systems in which the control loop is connected through a communication channel. There has been an increased attention to the use of Network Control System (NCS) in recent years because of their cost effective and flexible applications. But one of the major issues that need to be studied and solved in NCS is the delay of the data transmission which occurs throughout the communication network in the system and thus degrades the control system performance and also causes the system instability. This paper basically presents an analysis of network delay in NCS. In this paper, we have designed a model of delay control system for network induced delay using the simulation model of network control system delay and thus analysed the effect of network delay on the performance of the control system. The TrueTime toolbox of Matlab/Simulink is used for simulating the NCS model. Keywords networked control system, network delay, control performance, truetime, stability I.INTRODUCTION In conventional control systems, control signals are sent over the loop using analog or digital technology whereas in modern control systems, the control loop is closed through a real time communication network by T. C. Yang et al. [1]. The Networked Control Systems (NCSs) are the distributed control systems in which the system components (sensors, actuators and controllers) are connected by communication networks [2]. One ... A Generation OfThe Workplace A Generation Lost In the Workplace Denise Gelina Columbia College A Generation Lost In the Workplace The workplace is ever changing. There are currently four generations in the work environment today, and because of longer life expectancies it will soon by five as the youngest generation enters the workforce joining the current four. Generational transitions in the work environment cause the shift of power to be handed from one generation to the next. These transitions are complex but they have never bypassed a generation. According to Nevid, the percentage of those remaining untreated is approximately fifty percent, with the percentages being highest amongst Latinos and African Americans (Nevid, 2015). Additionally, it is known that the recurrence of major depression, which is considered the most common type of depressive disorder, characterized by a downcast disposition, an outlook of insignificance, and a lack of interest to engage in normal activities, is highly likely (Nevid, 2015, p. 505). Moreover, this form of depression is often accompanied by fatigue, sleep issues, changes in eating habits, anxiety, guilt, irritability, concentration difficulties, bodily discomforts, and suicidal thoughts (Nevid, 2015, p. 505). Psychoactive Drugs CanBe Defined As Any Chemical Substance Psychoactive drugs can be defined as any chemical substance, whether it be of a synthetic or of an organic nature, used with the purpose of altering an individual s psychological state of mind, mood or perception (Gossop, 1993, cited in Saggers Gray, 1998). According to Fleckenstein, Hanson Venturelli (2014), drugs are allocated into two categories consisting of illegal and legal. Illegal drugs usually consist of hallucinogenic substances such as marijuana (however, can be used for medical reasons), crack cocaine, ecstasy and others. The law prohibits use of these substances and can also result in social stigma. On the other hand, legal drugs consist of substances such as coffee, tobacco, alcohol and over the counter (OTC) drugs, to a high extent these drugs are usually socially accepted and the effects are inconspicuous if used in moderation. Statistics of drug use amongst youth in the UK According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NHI) (2012a), deaths regarding drug use has doubled since the 1980 s, furthermore it is stated that there are more illnesses and disabilities from drug abuse than any other avoidable health condition. There are many reasons why young people may choose to indulge in the risky behaviour that is drug use. Individuals may feel pressured by their peers, take this action out of curiosity or use it as a method for dealing with physiological or psychological problems (Better Health, 2012). Building Codes Analysis Thepractice of building codes is to ensure the safety, structural stability and health. Through the years many codes have been imposed to fix problems have occurred in the construction of the building or after it been constructed. Building codes are interpenetrated different depending on the location it s being built. This is due to local officials of the area who have the power to change codes or arrange than to meet the requirement for the area. The reason every country, state, and the city have their own way to interpenetrate codes differently is because the building must adapt to the surrounding area. The Life OfConstantine, A Roman Emperor Of The Roman Empire The life of Constantine, a Roman emperor from 306 to 337 AD, is explained by two different accounts that differ from each other. The first one that was written by Eusebius in 337 AD states that Constantine is a victorious, pious emperor who helps others and orders the construction of sacred places to honor Christ. The second account was written in 520 AD by Zosimus and it states that Constantine is an impious, arrogant and selfish emperor who is responsible of the Roman Empire s collapse. Eusebius, a bishop, wrote a eulogy to honor Constantine upon his death in 337 AD. He pays his respect to Constantine by stating all, indeed, with one voice and one mouth, declared that Constantine had appeared by the grace of God as a general blessing to mankind. In this statement, Eusebius clearly emphasizes the importance that Constantine has in the Romans life, and how they all agree that in fact he is a good influence for the Romans. He also considers him as the victorious, the pious, the common benefactor who helps people and worships God. Others characteristics about Constantine s personality are depicted by Eusebius such as Constantine s ambition and his goal oriented mind. He s goal oriented personality is depicted when the author states, (...) at the same time granting ample supplies of money, and commanding that the house of prayer worthy of the worship of God should be erected near the Saviour s tomb on a scale of rich and royal greatness. Truman Made theRight Choice President Harry Truman s use of the atomic bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan during the Second World War is the most controversial decision in history. While it was an undoubtedly difficult decision, it was indeed necessary in order to end this six year war that had ravaged the world. While many critics argue that the bomb was used primarily as an act of vengeance toward Japan, simplifying such a crucial moment in human history downplays the very real threat Japan posed to the United States. While avoiding strained relations with the other Allied countries, Truman had to assess the possible danger of the Soviet Union in a post war world. Furthermore, the possibility of an arms race, the moral implications of using this weapon, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The response of the panel to which the concern was sent was that the use of the bomb would be an obvious means of saving American lives and shortening the war. While these scientists did not agree on the issue of its use, all believed it was necessary to control this new technology through international cooperation. Due to the aforementioned increasing tensions between the two emerging superpowers, an issue of great concern was if, how and when to approach the Soviets with the news of the Manhattan Project. In spite of the differences between the Soviets and the United States, by Truman s main concern was keeping unity amongst the Big Three , realizing that ending the war depended on the support of both Britain and the Soviet Union. The Interim Committee unanimously agreed that Truman should inform of the development of the weapon and our plans to use it against the enemy. They did not advise giving the Soviets specific details of the project, only informing them in order to enlist Russian cooperation in the set up of future international controls of this new technology. Of course, because of the terms of the Quebec Agreement, it would also be necessary to discuss this with Churchill. The continuation of keeping facts from the Soviet Union in spite of the alliance ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Origin OfThe Greaser Subculture In America The term subculture is defined in the dictionary as a culture within a broader mainstream culture, with its own separate values, practices, and beliefs. Studying subculture in the perspective of a sociologist, is to understand and comprehend a specific culture. In today s modern society of America, there are many variety of subcultures that a sociologist can examine from the past or in today s society. For this paper, the chosen subculture to be investigated is the greaser subculture. Greasers are defined as a working class youth subculture that originated in the 1950s among teenagers in northeastern and southern United States. The paper will discuss the specifics on the origin of the greaser subculture in America along with other factors that came along with it in history. The origin of the term greaser was originally a derogatory name taken from the Greaser Act of 1855. The Act was passed in California meant to deride workers or laborers of Mexican background in the middle of the 19th century. It was also applied to Mexican with disdain due to their jobs at greasing wagon carts. The name for a greaser in the fifties was given due to the unique hairstyle applied with hair wax and slicked back. How the subculture of greasers came to be in America was that in the late 1940 s after the end of World War, the male soldiers were either being discharged or sent back home. Most them were suffering from what was known as shell shock or battle fatigue from the battlefields. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Melancholia Depression Melancholia: Depressionon Film Melancholia is defined as a mental condition characterized by extreme depression, bodily complaints, and often hallucinations and delusions. Lars von Trier wrote the film during his own episode of severe depression, and noted the tendency of the depressed to remain peaceful during catastrophic events. To reflect this detached sense of reality, Lars Von Trier rejected his rigidly realistic Dogma 95 principles for a dreamlike aesthetic that represents the depressed mind of the main character Justine (played by Kirsten Dunst). He splits the film into two parts with each part named after one of the main characters. Part one is named after Justine and takes place during the night of her wedding reception. Justine ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The most graphic allusion is when Justine, in her wedding dress and with a bouquet of flowers, is floating lifeless down a stream of water. This is a recreation of John Everett Millais painting entitled Ophelia. Ophelia, a character from Shakespeare s Hamlet, is perhaps the most famous depressive in all of literature. Justine embodies this image of being trapped and detached from loved ones, through her emotionless and dead eyed expressions. Justine and Claire both try to escape during the film but they both fail; therefore, they are literally trapped on the mansion property, which gives an increasing sense of hopelessness and dread. Richard Wagner s song, Prelude to Triston and Isolde, is played as a haunting refrain throughout the film. The song mixes depression with beauty and desire, like how the beautiful aesthetic of the film mixes with the hopelessness on screen. I appreciate that Lars von Trier rejects end of the world movie clichés, and instead shows something deeper and more poetic. The end of the world is experienced through the broken Justine and Claire, and not shown through massive destructions of major cities and mass hysteria. The end of the world is a fiercely intimate and unescaping event, instead of a time filled with last minute hook ups and hedonistic bucket lists. It is interesting to watch how Justine and Claire react to the knowledge of their impending ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A Brief NoteOn Business Management And Cost Costs Economics Gavin Clark HND Business 1. In the simplest term, total cost is all the costs incurred in the production of a product or the engagement of an activity. Total costs are calculated through adding together the total fixed costs and the total variable costs. Variable costs are costs that change based on the amount of goods bought or the amount of services used. Fixed costs are costs that don t change each month due to having no relationship with the amount of products produced. TC=TVC+TFC The average cost is the average total costs of production at a particular level of output. It is calculated by dividing the total costs by the level of output produced in relation to production. The average total cost will fall initially bottom ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first is the barriers to entry for new firms. Because there are few firms operating in the market, it can be very difficult to enter the market. In some highly profitable and competitive markets, it can be near impossible to get a foothold in the market. Another characteristic is the interdependence of firms. Because of the few number of firms operating, they need to take into account the actions the others. This means they are dependent on the other firms. All the firms are affected by their rival s actions for things like price, product specification and advertising. None of the firms can stop observing the other businesses as this could leave them at a disadvantage in the way they operate. With an oligopoly, the demand curve is both elastic and inelastic. If the demand curve is above the kink, it is elastic. This is because if the firm attempts to put the price up, the other firms operating will not follow them in doing so. If the demand curve is below the kink, it is inelastic. This is because the other firms will follow them as customers will switch to the cheaper business, if they don t demand to go down. 3. A monopoly market structure is when a single business is operating in a market unchallenged and without competition. This means that if people need a specific product or service there is only one business to buy it form. This leads to the single business ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
