Essay On Responsibilities Of A Good Citizen
Writing an essay on the responsibilities of a good citizen is undoubtedly a challenging task. This
topic encompasses a wide range of civic duties, ethical considerations, and societal expectations
that demand careful thought and articulation. Crafting a well-rounded essay requires a thorough
understanding of the multifaceted nature of citizenship and the various roles individuals play
within a community.
To begin with, one must delve into the complexities of what defines a "good citizen." This
involves exploring not only legal obligations but also moral and social responsibilities. The essay
should navigate through the intricate balance between individual rights and communal well-
being. It requires weaving together concepts of civic engagement, environmental stewardship,
and active participation in democratic processes.
Moreover, addressing the responsibilities of a good citizen necessitates acknowledging the
diverse perspectives on this matter. Different cultures, societies, and historical contexts may
shape varying expectations for citizens. Balancing universal principles with cultural relativism is
a delicate task that adds an extra layer of difficulty to the writing process.
The challenge intensifies when attempting to present practical examples and applications of these
responsibilities. It requires drawing connections between abstract concepts and real-world
scenarios, illustrating how individuals can actively contribute to the betterment of society in
tangible ways.
Additionally, synthesizing information from various sources, including academic literature,
philosophical discussions, and contemporary examples, adds another layer of complexity. A
comprehensive essay on this topic demands a nuanced understanding of political science, ethics,
sociology, and perhaps even environmental studies, depending on the chosen angle.
In conclusion, composing an essay on the responsibilities of a good citizen is indeed a formidable
task that necessitates a deep understanding of diverse subject matters. It requires the writer to
navigate through the intricate web of civic duties, ethical considerations, and societal
expectations while presenting a coherent and compelling argument. It is an intellectual journey
that demands careful research, critical thinking, and effective communication skills.

Archetypes In Chronicles Of Narnia
In the fantasy series The Chronicles of Narnia written by C.S. Lewis, a critically
acclaimed author and beloved by fans, there are many common archetypes. An
archetype is a role played by a character in movies, plays, books, etcetera like
heroes and villains. The Magician s Nephew takes place in the summer of 1900
London. It all starts when Digory Kirke and Polly Plummer meet. Together they
have to deal with a selfish, greedy Uncle, a witch that tried to kill Digory s aunt, and
much more. Along the way they meet a lion who created a universe by his sing, this
happened thanks to a magic ring. One of the most important characterQueen Jadis
plays the part of the evil villain, while Digory defeats her by being an utmost hero.

A Brief History of Guitar Music and Composers
Luis Milan lived from 1500 to 1561 in Valencia, Spain. He was a Spanish
renaissance composer who was the first composer to write and publish music for the
vihuela.
In 1536, Milan published a book entitled Libro de MГєsica de Vihuela de Mano
Intitulado de Maestro. This book is his most famous, and is the first book in history
that consisted of vihuela music. It included many villancicos, pavanas, and over 40
fantasias. It also included vocal pieces with accompaniment provided by the
vihuela. It was organized so that the harder pieces were towards the end of the book
and the easier ones were first. It also contained alternate passages in some of the
pieces for more advanced players.
Milan wrote various other books besides the one mentioned before. The first book
that he wrote was called El Juego de Mandar. It was published in 1535 and was a
parlor game book that also included music in it. His last written publication, El
Cortesano, was written in 1561. It did not include any music but instead was a book
that described the typical life of a professional musician at the time that he was
working for the court, which was before 1538.
Not much is known about Milan s life, except that he lived in Valencia for the
majority of his life and worked for the ducal court up until the time he began to
publish music. He dedicated his book of vihuela music to King John III of Portugal,
which could mean that he visited or lived in Portugal for a while.
Milan was not only
Kolcaba s Theory Of Comfort Research Paper
Kolcaba s Theory of Comfort Kolcaba s work on comfort was the compilation of
other theorists work, which had used comfort in their theories. She had found that
comfort was often used, but never defined as it pertains to healthcare. When the
theory is applied in the healthcare setting, the interventions to enhance comfort
relate to positive patient outcomes (Kolcaba, 1994). The word comfort can be
defined in different manners. It can be a verb or a noun and can be physical or
mental (Kolcaba Kolcaba, 1991). The term was analyzed in reference to nursing
application for this theory. Kolcaba examined the history of the use of comfort from
works of Florence Nightingale and Bertha Harmer. The conclusion of this was that
overall concept of comfort was positive (Kolcaba Kolcaba, 1991). After the
examination of the use of comfort in the past it was then looked at in the present time
that Kolcaba was working within. Organizations like American Nurses Association
and The Department of Health, Education and Welfare used the term comfort in
stating their standards of care. The multiple works of theorists... Show more content

I find that it helps build a relationship with the patients. Nurse s often do look at the
physical needs of their patients, symptoms they might present with or from the
disease they are diagnosed with. If you take the time to address other needs, that can
provide comfort to the patient such as their anxiety level from the hospital admission
or their language barrier, patient outcomes are better. Hospitals can be a scary place
for many people, and nurses need to be sensitive to the comfort needs of their
patients. Sometimes the things we hear and see every day, the beeping of i.v.
machines, the overhead lights, the doctors, hospital equipment are second nature to
us, but upsetting to the patient. All nurses should be assessing all the comfort needs

Pete s View Of Life
I do feel as though Pete went back to get Donald in the end. They ultimately need
each other. Throughout the story Pete was painted as the hard working wealthy
brother always bailing Donald out of tough times despite the consequence. He might
have complained along the way but he always came through. In my opinion Pete s
actions are justified by his personality. A materialistic guy, somewhat content,
financially stable with a familyin a nice home. It would look as if he had it all
together, but in reality he does not. I feel as though Donald gives Pete a different
perspective of life which is displayed on page 358 when he begins to contemplate
the outcomes of Donald s decision to give Webster the $100. He begins to question
his initial position... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pete gives the impression that he was jealous of Donald, whom he thought got all
of the attention. This is displayed in the text when Donald references his mom
worrying about him when he did simple things such as climb trees and Pete s
response was, Mom was in a state every time you burped (Wolff 352). This
statement alone depicts Pete as jealous of the extra attention Donald was shown by
his mother for basically anything. Donald believes with conviction that Pete
purposely tried to kill him as a kid by consistently hitting him on a part of his body
recovering from surgery. There is a point in the story where Donald recounts his
memories saying, The thing was, I couldn t have anything happen to me where
they sewed me up because then my intestines would come apart again and poison
me. That was a big issue, Pete (Wolff 352). He then goes on to say, Pete hit him in
that spot every chance he got. In the text, Pete dances around the facts, attempting
to make light of the situation numerous times. He is full of excuses, unwilling to
admit or deny his part in the situation by inferring it was kid stuff or that maybe he
did it. Never actually owning up to his wrong doing or even trying to apologize. I
feel as though Pete associated his brother s age and sickness with him getting more
attention. It is for this reason I believe Pete tried to hurt Donald as a kid, which in
turn left Donald with an emotional scar far worse than his

The abuse of power is inherent to power itself. That is why a democracy is

John Hughes Sixteen Candles
There is much to say John Hughes marvelously crafted Sixteen Candles. Hughes
interpretation of what it s like to grow up a teenager trying to find themselves is
impeccable. In this comedic, blissful coming of age film, the story follows Samantha
Baker or Sam as she is most often called as she navigates through her sixteenth
birthday; everyone forgot this very important day in Sam s life. This movie truly has
it all: annoying little siblings, misunderstood teenagers, an older sister who sucks up
all the attention, conservative grandparents, freshman geeks, the popular cheerleader,
and, of course, the hottie that everyone has a crush on. Though stuffed with stock
characters, Sixteen Candles somehow achieves a beautiful balance. The geek

Mass of water: 74.8g
Specific heat of water is 4.184 J/g(oC)
Change in temp. of water: 1В°C
Q = 74.8 * 1 * 4.184 = 312.96 J/g(oC)
11. Use the equation: q = m(SH)О”T to solve for the specific heat of the metal.
For q, you found how much heat was gained by the water so you know that same
amount of heat was lost by the metal. Therefore, qmetal = qwater. The mass of the

Why Is Independence Day Important To American Culture
Independence Day is very important to the American culture. Americans celebrate
Independence Day on the fourth day of July every year. It is a day for loved ones to
come together with love and unity to celebrate our land. Independence Day is
recognized for its representation of the Declaration of Independence and the birth of
the United Statesof America as an independent nation. The United States has come a
long way since its independence in 1941, evolving and inspiring many other
countries to fight for their freedom. If it weren t for our strong willed native s we
may not have had the strong foundation of freedom, equality and human rights that
we have today.

Among them were France, Greece, Poland, Russia and many countries from South
America. It takes a strong nation with grit and strong will to achieve such
accomplishments.
Traditional 4th of July celebrations include fireworks, parades, concerts, barbecues
and family gatherings. It is a very exciting day that draws out emotions of
happiness. Even before sunset and well into the evening the sky it lit up with
colorful displays of light. Children swing around sparklers, smiling as the trail of
light follows their wand. The smell off food cooked on the grill can be smelled in
the air. Many streets will be closed off and neighbors bring out lawn chairs and
enjoy each others firework shows. Independence Day is a time for Americans come
together to recognize all that our country has gone through for us to be living in such
a wonderful nation. July 4th will be celebrated for the rest of eternity, spreading love,
happiness and unity among all American peoples. We will forever remember and

Procedure Of The Bernoulli s Theorem Apparatus
Procedure Experimental set up The Bernoulli s theorem apparatus is set up on the
hydraulic bench so that its base is horizontal for accurate height measurements
from the manometer. The rig outflow tube is positioned above the volumetric tank.
The rig inlet is then connected to the bench flow supply followed by closing the
bench and the apparatus flow control valve. The pump is then started. The bench
valve is gradually opened to fill the test rig with water. The bench valve and rig
flow control valve are closed in order to bleed air from pressure tapping points and
manometers. Then, the air bleed screw is opened and the cap from the adjacent air
valve are removed. A length of small bore tubing from the air valve to volumetric
tank is connected. The bench valve is then opened and allowed to flow through the
manometers to eliminate all air from them. After that, the air bleed screw is
tightened and bench valve and test rig flow control valve are partly opened. The air
bleed screw is opened to allow air to enter the top of the manometers. Lastly, the
screw is re tightened when the manometer levels reach a convenient height.
Experimental procedure to obtain results Pump is turned on and bpth the control
valve on hydraulic bench and the venturi tube are adjusted so the tube is filled up
with water. Using the valve on the manifold at the top of the manometer, the air
bubbles are bleed off. To obtain flow rate so that the total head at the inlet
The Power Of Nature In Frankenstein By Mary Shelley s...
Throughout the novel, Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, scientist Victor Frankenstein
repeatedly meddles with the power of nature while building his creation, without
applying the knowledge and consideration of the power of nature and its
repercussions. Thus, man should respect the power of nature and its consequences.
Natureis omnipotent, therefore, man should obey nature in order to avoid it from
its aftermath, portraying Shelley s point that if man obeys nature, nature will not
destroy something. There will be consequences if man does try to discipline nature
which displays Shelley s similar idea that if man tries to counter nature, man will
eventually fall. Nature can improve or restore one s mind who is in misery or
someone who is suffering proving all in all, if man accepts and does not ignore the
capability of nature, then they will thrive and be joyous and pleasant. Overall, if
one does not tamper with nature, nature shall not tamper with one. One of Shelley
s main points is that man is not equipped to tamper with the powers of the natural
world. After Victor s fall and almost death, he meets Robert Walton, an explorer
who is trying to find the North Pole and to exceed the average knowledge. Victor
urges him to not make the same mistake he had. Victor realizes that nature is all
powerful in his adventure and tells Walton how dangerous the acquirement of
knowledge [is] and that man will fail if he aspires to become greater than his nature
will allow (Shelley 39).

Besides that, the company also sell their products online through their official

currency exchange rates as it is increasing in an alarming rate. However, Hershey s
Company also encounter some effects that affect their financial status. The price for
Hershey s products may not be sufficient to maintain its profitability as the price of
everything is increasing day by day. The company may decrease the product size and
increase the price of the product. However, this may result in a decrease amount of

Hispanic And Non Hispanic Americans
Latinos/ Hispanics are one of the races that have a background with the higher risk
to get diabetes type 2, but in what way does being Latino affect the course of the
illness and what roll does culture takes in this problematic? There is a considerable
difference between Hispanic and Non Hispanics. Many factors can be the reasons
for this difference in numbers, but the most influential factors are culture,
acculturation and, the medical cultural competence. First, for Latinos, studies
have found that the prevalence of total diabetes, diagnosed and undiagnosed,
among all Hispanic/Latino groups was roughly 16.9 percent of both men and
women, compared to 10.2 percent of non Hispanic whites. However, when looking
at Hispanic/Latino groups individually, it found that prevalence varied from a high
of 18.3 percent for those of Mexican descent to a low of 10.2 percent for people of
South American descent. The study showed 18.1 percent of people of Dominican
and Puerto Rican descent; 17.7 percent of Central American descent; and 13.4
percent of Cuban descent living in the United States had type 2 diabetes
(Alexandria, 2014). As people believe, also prevalence rose dramatically with age,
reaching more than 50 percent for Hispanic/Latino women by the time they reached
age 70 and 44.3 percent for men aged 70 74. Although this may be true, Latinos who
migrate to the US have increased their rates of diabetes. The reason for this is the
acculturation and how fast they take it. According
Hero s Journey Examples
The Hero s Journey is a common template in stories that involve a hero who goes on
an adventure, wins a victory in a decisive crisis, and then comes home changed or
transformed. This template has been used in tales throughout history to convey the
journey that a protagonist goes on. The universality of the struggles and conflicts
these heroes overcome allows this template to become as popular as it is today. Many
of the stages that exist within the Heros Journey can be applied to my journey as well
as yours. The stage of my grandfather s death in my journey is comparable to The

Philos And Logos Research Paper
The story of Western philosophy began in Greece, which is known for its famous
Greek philosophers, leaders, poets, and scientists. Greece is also famous for being
the birthplace of democracy. The Greek word Logos translates into the English
word logic , where logos means the theory, study, or rationalization of something.
Logos also means word in Greek, so it involves the act of speaking, or setting forth
an idea in a clear manner (Palmer, 2). Consequently, the word Logos signifies an
irrefutable style of thinking about the world and provides an explanation of them
with a clarified effort of thought and theory. Philosophyderives from two separate
words combined. Philo which equals love, and Sophia which equals wisdom.
Philosophy means the love of wisdom, or philosophers meaning lovers of wisdom.
The definition of the word value as a mass noun, is the regard that something is
held to deserve; the importance, worth, or usefulness of something. The definition
as a verb is to consider (someone or something) to be important or beneficial; have
a high opinion of. The definition of the word values are principals or standards of

Abstract
The purpose of this experiment is to identify the different blood types through the
antigen and antibody reaction by using the anti A, Anti B and Anti Rh serums we
will be able to identify the different blood types. We will also discuss how this can
be used in the clinical setting of this blood typing procedure, by doing so we will
know how antigens and antibodies relate to the blood typing procedure in the real
world settings.
Introduction
For this experiment student will identify the individual blood types through the
antigen and antibody reaction by using the anti A, Anti B and Anti Rh serums we
will be able to identify the different types of blood. Red blood cells also known as
erythrocyte are small cells shaped like an oval however they have a plasma
membrane but no nucleus. Hemoglobin is the protein that allows the red blood cells
to bind easily with oxygen. While hematopoiesis is known as blood cell formation.
The independent variable would be the Red blood cells. While the dependent variable
would be the Antibodies and the antigens
Hypothesis With the antigen and antibody reaction we can determine ABO and Rh
blood types by using certain antiserums. If an A Antigen ever comes in contact with
an Anti a antibody then the blood will have a reaction. Also if a B Antigen comes in
contact with a B anti body then the blood will

life was like during the American Civil War and Reconstruction period from the
perspective of a confederate woman. Fleming uses techniques like foreshadowing,
symbolism, and imagery to create depth and enhance the themes within. Throughout
the film, the emphasis on race, gender roles, and southern culture are shown through
the characters and their actions. Scarlett O Hara, the main protagonist of the film,
demonstrates the transformation of southern culture during the Civil War. Before
the Civil War, all women were expected to live up to the stereotype and stay pretty ,
eventually marry to have children, and accomplish household duties. This is
portrayed in the film by the way the women always prioritize dressing up and
focusing on having beaus . In addition, we see how this stereotype alters... Show more

Case Study Of John Kotter s Change Model
Kotter s 8 step Change Model:
John Kotter A professor at Harvard Business School and world renowned change
expert, Kotter introduced his eight step change process in his 1995 book, we look at
his eight steps for leading change below:
Step 1: Create Urgency
In order to make a change in organization, you must convince the people to accept
the occurrence of change, and it should be cleared and explained the reasons of
making change. To do this, all the employees must conduct formal and informal
meetings to further discuss the issue and its importance, if many people talk about
the proposed change, so this can build the urgency and feed on itself.

п‚ѕAddress peoples worries and anxieties.
Step 5: Remove Obstacles:
If you follow these steps and rich this point in the change process, you have been
discussing about the vision and agreeing organization s all level staff for
commitment, expectantly, your staff want to achieve the targets that you ve been
promoting.
Step 6: Create short term Wins:
Nothing motivates more than success, celebrate the victories achieving in the change
process, set short term targets beside of long term targets, when people achieving
short term targets, they can feel comfortable and becoming hopeful for achieving all
proposed objectives, this can generate sense of hard working and people s strong
commitment with the success of changing.
So take advantage of every chance and keep team happy and motivated, without this,
negative thinkers might hurt the process.

Culture Kite Runner
Lit Circle 3: Culture Commentator By: Vivian Li Culture effect theme To begin
with, the novel represents the Afghan culture of the characters. Traditional Afghan
culture is not always positive, the culture has negatively affect the theme, and talks
can hurt people. During the novel, every Afghanistan talks, they talk about
everything, and the things they talk may ruin a person s live. Amir understands
that, when he is trying to be brave and talks to the girl he likes, he is aware of
Poison tongues would flap. And she would bear the brunt of that poison (Hosseini
155). Language is a powerful weapon, and it happens in Afghan all the time. The
talks convince people and destroy other s life, especially woman. Amir is afraid to

When general find Amir had been talking to his daughter, not only her throw Amir
s story in the trash can, but also he tells Amir to remember that he is among other
Afghans. He signed and waved a hand even decent boy need reminding sometimes.
So it s my duty to remind you that you are among peers in this flea market
(Hosseini 161). General rejects Amir because he doesn t want a tragic happen
again, the tragic that his daughter went away with a man. This quote shows the
culture affect positively on the character, a father is protecting his daughter.
General wants to confirm that Amir truly loves his daughter, otherwise Amir may
be the second man that his girl run away with. Therefore, Amir asks if Baba will go
to General Taheri to ask Soraya s hand in marriage for Amir, Baba did so and
general accepted, Amir proves that he is being serious of this relationship, he loves
Soraya. During the wedding, general stated, Now, this is the right way the Afghan
way to do it, bachem. We kissed three times on the cheek (Hosseini 176). General
knows, in Afghan culture, a wedding is a promise that men make for women. Amir
makes this promise to Soraya, therefore general gave his daughter to another man
who general believes this man can bring happiness to his daughter. This also
demonstrate that culture affects positively on characters, it s the culture that makes
Amir and Soraya get marry and has a happy family
Descriptive Writing In Catcher In The Rye
Mr. Spencer Ackley s Descriptive writing The Catcher in The Rye is about a
seventeen year old boy Named Holden who is in a mental hospital. Having a
flashback about what happened last December when he was 16 and just got kicked
out of Pence prep in the story he is trying to discover the world. Confused about
everything does poorly in school and shows depression in hatred for everyone and
everything. Throughout the story he meets people that impact his life like Mr.
Spencer and Robert Ackley. Mr. Spencer a seventy year old man, who is Holden s
history teacher. You may still wonder why he is even teaching at his age if you
really think about it. Old and gross two words that come out of readers mind s
when reading the story. The minute I went in, I was sorry of I d come he was
reading the Atlantic monthly , and there were pills and medicine all over the place
and everything smelled like Vicks Nose Drops it was pretty depressing I m not too
crazy about sick people anyway what made it more depressing , old spencer had on
this very sad , ratty old bathrobe that he was probably born in it or something I don
t much like to see old guys in their pajamas and bathrobes anyway this introduces us
to the way adults view Holden and they he views them in return this a big lack of
understanding Mr . Spencer dosen t know what s wrong with Holden but he wants to
help by lecturing Holden.
Mr. Spencer is a very nice teacher the character in the story seems to have a
connection with him. Even if he failed Holden for not writing his essay on the
Egyptians like he should ve have old Spencer cares for him deeply. I d like to put a
sense in that head of yours boy I m trying to help you If I can Holden thought
different of all the teachers Mr spencer made a big difference but that didn t mean he
would change that still gives the reader a thought on Mr. Spencer never giving up and
having faith that someday things would change.
Robert Ackley a former roommate of Holden s has many weaknesses. Ackley is
dirty, pimply, and all around unhygienic he s annoying. He ll come into your room
and pick your personal stuff and put it back in the wrong place. He thinks being two
years older than Holden makes him superior was about six four

Mumbai Dabbawalla: A Model of Service Excellence A Strategic Analysis
Introduction:
If we look at the history of India over the last century, we get many examples of
historic companies such as the Godrej Group, TATA Steel, ITC and many more that
have bravely faced the emerging market situation of India, the recessions and have
successively managed to sustain themselves till date. But rarely do we find examples
of organizations started by a group of illiterate men from the rural hinterlands of Pune
and Mumbai to establish a successful cooperative model that has sustained itself
through decades, today popularly known as the Mumbai Dabbawallas. They
predominantly work on end to end delivery of homemade food from their residence
to their offices. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hence due to flat organizational structure information symmetry exists at all levels.
Acute visibility
The beauty of the dabbawalla based system is that all of the dabbawallas understand
exactly what is happening and when to the minute. If certain deadlines and hand offs
are missed, people don t eat. It s as simple as that. hence they make sure everyone
within their chain understands their roles and responsibility, where they need to be at
a particular time and what needs to be done if they run behind schedule.
Organizational culture and shared values
Typically, the age range of dabbawalla ranges from 18 65 and they remain in their
groups for the entire working lives and hence through this a strong sense of
bonding is developed among the dabbawallas. The new members recruited are
typically friends or relatives of existing dabbawallas and they belong to same culture,
language, possess same values etc. It is said that dabbawallas originally hail from

The Invention Of Thomas Edison Essay
Imagine a world where ideas and inventions are stolen off each other with no legal
consequences. Imagine a world where Samsung wasn t sued by Apple because
legally, there is no penalty for stealing designs. Imagine a world where Alexander
Graham Bell or Thomas Edison wasn t famous for their inventions because someone
else had stolen their ideas and created the inventions publicly first. This is what the
world would have been like without the use of patents. Patents ensure that no idea is
stolen, sold, or replicated without the appropriate permission. Every inventor has ad
their fair share of troubling experiences with patents. However, an inventor that did
not allow his dilemmas with patents stop him from achieving great things is Thomas
Edison. Due to the patentprocess, Edison was able to succeed at a young age, own
numerous inventions, competed other inventors patents, and inspired others to
compete with his inventions to further improve technology.
Thomas Edison was born on February 11, 1847 to a middle class family in Milan,
Ohio. His interest in gaining knowledge sprouted from a young age. At the mere age
of twelve, he had expanded his reading from The History of the Rise and Fall of the
Roman Empire to various works in practical chemistry. This intelligence and interest
later motivated Edison into creating numerous inventions throughout his life time. At
the young age of 16 Edison had built his own telegraph, which had already been in
use for more than forty years,

It can be a difficult task if the key stakeholders have not been informed earlier in the
life cycle.
It is clear to see that throughout the project the tasks and progress were monitored
very closely. The project is heavily dependent on the resources provided by its
shareholders and in turn they rely on regular updates to reassure them on their
investment. In the construction and building industry the methods and application of
project management tools are very reliable and well tested. Therefore, it could
benefit the project if the it was managed with detailed and defined practises and also
follow standards set and agreed upon on a international level.
Was the project scope defined clearly at early stage? Identify one major scope change
throughout the project life and discuss the effects of scope changes on project
performance?
Since the early stages, the project was inundated with concerns and issues with the
project scope. From the perspective of project management, the initial scope was
not defined well enough. Details of the design were over looked and aspects such
as the details of the air conditioning ended up increasing the original scope by $200
million. This supposedly led a prosperous project to an uncertain economic ordeal.
Initial estimates of the project had been $5.5 billion and by the time of its actual
completion it been delayed by a year and increased to $15
Lincoln Electric Company Case Study Study Analysis
Lincoln Electric Company Case Study Analysis In this Case Study Analysis, I will
identify examples of the types of organizational culture (innovative and stable) that
the Lincoln Electric Company has, as well as the benefits and problems the company
could experience as a result of these. The idea that stuck out the most about the
Lincoln ElectricCompany is that they obviously have a strong culturethat all levels of
employees are proud to be a part of. According to Carpenter, Taylor, and Erdogan
(2010), culture is a more powerful way of controlling and managing employee
behaviors than organizational rules and regulations (pg. 193, para. 2). The Lincoln
Electric Company encompasses facets of multiple types of cultures instead of
adhering to only one. The ways in which the Lincoln Electric Company identifies
with an innovative culture are most prominently explained by the following facets:
not having a traditional hierarchy, and utilizing an open door policy when it comes to
problem resolution. As explained in the Organization Structure section of the Case
Study, personnel are encouraged to take problems to the persons most capable of
resolving them [open door policy] (Sharplin, 1989, pg. 7, para. 1). In the same
section, Sharplin also mentions that, Lincoln has never had a formal organization

David Menander Relationships Between Men And Women
David Wiles uses comedies by Menander in order to display the roles of men and
women in classical Athens. In his opinion, the female role can be broken into two
subcategories concubines and undesirable vestal virgins. His main argument is that
the modern definition of the word love was not found in antiquity marriages, and that
prostitution often gave men the desires and companionship that they longed for.
From the maleperspective matrimony was just another form of property that reaped
benefits, such as running a household and providing heirs, but did not provide
companionship or fulfill desires.
Due to the fact that well born women spent such little time in public there would be
no reason for men to fall in love with the type of females they married. Instead Wiles
argues that prostitutes, especially those who were unpaid, were able to form
relationships with men because they had more time to connect with one another and
could be found in public alongside each other. However, the author does not... Show

There is no suggestion in the comedy that the boy has to marry the young woman.
The young man s father is not surprised that he wishes to marry for love. Which,
can prove that this might not have been a rare occurrence, and shows men could
have married for love . Lever gives examples of other plays that display unmarried
Athenian men in love with women who are known to be of citizen birth. Both
Brown, Walcot, and Wies define the term eros differently, so it is incredibly difficult
to establish what exactly constituted as love for these people, and the social history
of Athens is far to dense to use comic drama as evidence for everyday life.
Researchers can make valid arguments, but they wont know exactly what these
ancient Athenians felt. People cannot compare the word love in the present culture to
the erotic world in which Wiles
Why Do Aliens Invade
When aliens invade, it s predicted in the apocalypse that men s hearts shall fail
them for fear, and (Conspiracy theories), as a result, are to cover what is coming,
they plan to rob the world. The world has summoned back the gods (aliens), one
example of summoning is an outstretched tongue. Intentionally protruding the
tongue represents the union of masculine and feminine spirits. This action invokes
the demonic spirits of transgender and the she males. The tongue protruding gives
these demons permission to come into the world or church. Inconsequential this is
why we have transgender and the she males. When Aliens invade, they will have
broken no laws and will be free to take over our planet, even though it will be a
forcible act. We will not defeat them. Their planet is their spacecraft, and they make
up part of the spiritual realm, the invisible world around us is a world of the ancient
dead in at war with us. Thus, aliens are after your sons and your daughters and you,
they hate us all and blame all mankind for their woes with vengeance. They plotted

Mental Maps
My life can be divided into two segments. The first part I lived with my family and
Mexico City, the second part started when I moved to Austin in the start of college.
The live that I lived in each of the sections has been different from the activities that
I took part in, all the way to what kind of location those activities occurred. In this
paper I will explain the two mental maps that I created. For each map I will
compare and contrast the Landmarks, nodes, edges, paths, and edges in each of the
sections of my life and why they are relevant to me. The first map that I drew is
about, the space I inhabited in the past, which is MexicoCity. In this part of my life I
resided in a very residential area one that in the United States could... Show more

In the past I used to be more focused in religion and sports, since I used to think of
the synagogue and JCC as important nodes. Currently the activities I typically
partake have become mostly studying, socializing and drinking, which can be
perceived by the nodes I consider important, such as the SAC and my fraternity. In
the case of the landmarks, in both of the mental maps I have objects that catch my
attention in my everyday routes as things I distinguish in the landscape.
Consequently, in both maps my paths are defined on the nodes of my life, which
have led to these objects becoming landmarks for me.
Meanwhile when it comes to considering how I got from point A to point B in each
map it is very different. In Mexico City every single place I traveled meant that I
needed to drive or be driven around since distances are relatively long compared to
Austin. This meant that the places that I considered to be important for me are more
scattered around my mental map. For Austin, most of my activities take part in a
smaller region since the mode of transportation I primarily use is walking, therefore
the distances I cover are much shorter than in my past.
In general I can conclude that by comparing and contrasting both mental maps, I can
more accurately understand how I have changed as a person, not only because I live
in a very different city,
Aestheticism In Victorian England
PARAGRAPH 1 MIDDLE CLASS/ORIGINS Aestheticism flourished partly as a
backlash against the materialism of the growing middle class, assumed to be
composed of philistines (those who abide by the social attitude of anti
intellectualism that undervalues and despises art) who viewed and responded to
art in an unrefined manner, and who failed to appreciate the artistic worldview that
was becoming fairly prominent at the time. Wilde often describes in detail his
disenchantment with the age in which he lived. Commonly referred to as the fin de
siГЁcle (French for end of the century ) period, the 1890s in Europe, and especially
Britain, were marked by a cynical sensibility that sought to free society from the
asceticism that deadens the senses . Ascetism is a lifestyle characterised by
abstinence from sensual pleasures, which was adopted by much of the world weary
middle class. In this decade, many people in continental Europe felt a near constant
sense of discontent. The morals that once seemed to control life and give it meaning
were lost to an age of enlightenment. The two main reasons for this disillusionment
were connected to the public functions of morality and art, which, in Victorian
England, were directly linked. It was thought that art should function as a moral
barometer, and for many people, this dictum left room for only the most restrictive
values and uninspired art. The term fin de siГЁcle therefore came to describe a
branch of thinking that sought to restore
Mise En Scene In Charlie Newton s Shadow Of A Doubt
In the 1943 film Shadow of a Doubt, Charlie Newton soon has her world altered as
she discovers the dark secrets of her Uncle Charlie s past. Feeling a special
connection with her Uncle, Charlie eagerly wishes to discover more about him at
first and innocently becomes involved in hiding his identity as a serial killer. As
the film builds up the mystery behind Uncle Charlie and his true intentions, the
Mise En Scene creates an environment which explores the Uncle s darker
motivations while also supporting the unsuspecting point of view of Charlie.
Elements of mise en scene such as lighting, space, and composition continue to
build this environment in the film, even when the roles between Charlie and her
Uncle change. Before Charlie suspects any dark past behind her Uncle, she first
playfully teases her plan to find out his secrets but goes too far. In this scene, canted
cinematography shows Charlie first knock on the door to her Uncles room in a
hallway cast in large shadows of the bannisters. By pairing both the cinematography
and lighting in this first establishing shot, a dark ominous is introduced and
continued through the rest of the scene. Then, Charlie enters the room from an
internal shot placed behind her Uncle, putting the viewer both in Uncle Charlies
perspective and casting him with heavy shadows from the right of the frame.
Charlie is well lit from the opposite end of the room, a medium shot showing her full
playful expression as she discovers her Uncle has

This is because the fuel injector was placed on the upper side of the block making
it sprays fuel exactly at the hole. He also taught the trainee about the proper timing
of the valve and fuel injector, and also the sequence of firing inside the engine
cylinders. For a 4 cylinder engine, order of firing was 1 3 2 4.For a 6 cylinder engine,
firing was 1 4 2 6 3 5. And for an 8 cylinder, v type engine, firing was 1 8 4 3 6 5 7 2.
These firing orders were not constant at all engines; it is just only based on the
trainee s experience. Firing orders were variable and based on the manufacturers
design in order to minimize vibration.
On the following days, the trainee had already worked just like a regular employee
of the Keppel. Starting on that time, he was not an assistant or a helper any longer
just like on his first day of OJT, but one of maintenance personnel on that
department. He experienced installing engine parts like flywheel, injectors, radiator,
manifolds, valves and timing gears. He also performed top hauling a six cylinder
engine, disassembling a v type engine which composed of eight cylinders, removing
water pump and making gaskets out of paper folder.
Not only engines were repaired under maintenance department, they also repair
pumps. Most common type of pump that was used on the Keppel shipyard was the
piston type pump. It consists of three cylinders and operated using high speed motor.

What Is The Accuracy Of The Movie Gladiator

Ancient World and radically compressed the chronology of the Emperor Commodus
reign. The film s director, Ridley Scott, conveys his best work on the historical events
as accurately and entertaining as be possibly could. Gladiatorthe movie is about
seeking revenge and fulfilling the dying wish of Emperor Marcus Aurelius. Roman

The Philosophical View Of Empiricism
Today in society, many people are free to follow which ever philosophical view
that they feel is right for them. Each philosophical view has a different set of
beliefs, and many philosophers went through great lengths to prove that the
philosophical view of their choice was the best one. In this paper I will be talking
about two philosophical theories. The first one is called Empiricism, and it was
made famous by a philosopher named David Hume. Empiricism states that our
knowledge should come from sensory experience, impressions, and observation. The
other philosophical view I will be taking about is called Rationalism. Many people
who don t agree with empiricism lean more towards Rationalism. Rationalism was

With thoughts, your mind thinks about certain feelings, but you don t experience
them first hand. With impression, you experience things such as hearing, seeing,
and feeling first hand, instead of just thinking about them. For example, an
impression can be used to describe a man who is in fit of anger , and a man who is
thinking about anger, but not actually in a fit of anger would be considered to be a
thought. A thought can also be considered as an idea. Hume describe ideas as
being less vivacious than impressions . He feels that impressions are drawn from
memory or imagination, thus causing them to be less lively and vivid. Our mind
consist of many complex ideas, and according to Hume these ideas are the things
that influence our imagination. He claims that complex ideas are combined into
one big idea, thus resulting to a single idea. For example, when we think of a
golden mountain, our mind use the memories we have of the color gold, and the
memories we have of a mountain, and combine the two into a single image of a
golden mountain. Another example is our idea of God. When we think of the
supremely good and intelligent nature of God, we are doing nothing more than,
comparing his goodness to the goodness of a human beings. Hume claims that we
can only have knowledge of things that we have experienced before. Since a blind
man can t see, his knowledge of the colors will be very limited. The only way

According to CollegeStartClass (2015) there are about 16,765 students enrolled at
NMSU and according to the NMSU Parking department there are only about
13,500 parking spaces available (NMSUParkingDepartment, 2014). This begs you
to ask the question, is NMSU parking department selling more parking permits than
they have space for? The parking department should only sale as many permits as
they can provide parking for. Ultimately there are just not enough parking areas on
campus. Another issue with the policy is the harsh penalties and fees that come
along with the policy. The NMSU parking department is very good at keeping up
with who is parking where and how many times an individual has received a
parking ticket. The penalties become harsher after each offense to the point where
they will put a boot on a vehicle. According to NMSU Parking Policy (2014)
Consistent with state law, these regulations set specific penalties for each type of
violation, as well as impose an additional fee per citation associated with the
administration of NMSU s traffic program . It s understandable that the policy
needs to be enforced but to the extent that they go can be a bit extreme. I propose
that NMSU get rid of their parking policy all together and leave parking on campus

Patriot Act Research Paper
It is a great pleasure to writing to you today. I am a citizen of the United States who

Patriot Act, which you have recently reinstated. I understand that you might be
wondering what a kid would understand about the Patriot Act? Well, the thing is I
understand plenty, as a matter of fact I agree with the Patriot Act to a certain extent. I
personally believe that the Patriot Act is a great concept that reinforces the protection
of the U.S from future terrorist attacks; however, some of its ideologies are slightly
unjust. To my understanding the Patriot Act is an act that emerged due to the horrific
events of September 11th, 2001. I myself may not have had a first... Show more

To my understanding the U.S Constitution is a number of principles that are
supposed to be acknowledged by the U.S. I do not believe that the Patriot Act is
obeying these principles; as a matter of fact it violates several amendments that are in
the Constitution. According to the highlights of the Patriot act, Allowing males of
Middle Eastern or South Asian descent to be profiled as potential terrorists, without
probable cause... This allows any person who is of Middle Eastern or South Asian
decent that lives in the U.S to be acknowledged as a terrorist without any evidence at
all. This is completely inhumane and causes major problems in society. It mainly
forces countless individuals of the U.S to live in fear just because of their ethnic
background. Now, this is just one of the many problems of the Patriot Act. According
to Eric Lichtblau, ... [The Government] demand records from institutions like
libraries and medical offices; and use a broad definition of terrorism in pursuing
suspects... This demonstrates the violation of the 4th amendment, which states, ...
unreasonable searches and seizures shall not be violated... (Amendments to the
Constitution). Essentially, I do understand and believe in the concept of the Patriot
Act, however, I don t find it to be relevant if it is mainly contradicting the U.S

an important principle in communication. There are some maxims under the PP, and

They viewed the politeness phenomena in communication as a common expression
and they thought the reason behind the polite behaviors is actually face and
rationality (1978: 63). To illustrate the point, they developed the conception of
Model Person (MP) . By rationality , it means the availability to our MP of a
precisely definable mode of reasoning from ends to the means that will achieve
those ends (ibid) . And by face ,it means that the MP is endowed with two
particular wants the want to be unimpeded and the want to be approved of in
certain respects (ibid). According to them, there are two types connected with the
FST. One is termed as the negative face the want to be unimpeded . The other is
the positive face the want to be approved of in certain respects . Everyone wants to
be a gentleman and everyone has his understanding about the self esteem, so
sometimes she/he have to do a face saving compromise. For the two wants above,
people take action to interact with the others and try their best to avoid making the
hearer get into trouble. Similarly business English letters often start with Dear Sirs ,
or Dear Sir and end with Yours faithfully or Sincerely yours , and the inside address

NEGATIVE IMPACTS OF WORLD BANK S STRUCTURAL ADJUSTMENT
PROGRAM (SAP) IN GHANA
INTRODUCTION:
Writing about the negative impacts of The World Bank Structural Adjustment
Program in Ghana, my country of origin is something I can do with my eyes
closed, because being an ordinary Ghanaian, born and raised in Ghana, I do not
need a research to know what these institutions have done to the developing
countries they impose their ill intended programs on. Even the blind can feel
hunger, lack of access to good health care, high tariffs on basic utilities such as
electricity and water which is as a result of privatization. This paper is going to
highlight on the negative impacts of the World Banks sponsored Structural
Adjustment Program implemented by the government of Ghana from 1982 to 2008.
STRUCTURAL ADJUSTMENT PROGRAM 1982 2008
This is what a researcher could say about this program to paint the big picture for
readers, Clearly, the World Bank s structural adjustment of Ghana is a textbook
example of how to ruin a country. The ruthless denial of mineral wealth, food,
medical care, education and even water has made the population destitute spectators
to the plunder of Ghana by foreigners. (Ismi. July, 2004).
This program has been repackaged and renamed over the period under different
government administrations but they say a decorated donkey is still an ass. At the
beginning under the PNDC/NDC administration it was called The Structural
Adjustment Program which aim was
The Shock Of Teapots And The Seam Of The Snail
I always like to think through the author s essays style of what the author is like.
Like Cynthia Ozick, by reading the shock of teapots and The Seam of the snail I
imagine that Cynthia probably is a very romantic and loved life woman. Even though
these two essays are both written by her; both essays have similarities in using own
experiences, beautiful vocabulary and self reflection. However, they differ from
developing sentences structure. The Shock of Teapots maintains the idea that
travelers can discover more beautiful things than local residents. She spends a lot of
sentences to describe beautiful scenery. By means of traveling, people can find out
something interesting in a different view from local residents. The Seam of the...

So authors uses whole paragraph to expose the main points. Self reflection is her
method to conclude her thoughts. The red bus was what I intimately knew: only I
had never seen it before. A reflected flicker of the actual. A looking glass bus. A
Scottish ghost. (p.573) She is using her own feeling to tell readers that travelers

In paragraph 6 of the seam of the snail are all about herself. Comparing her mother

reflection, as same as own experience, I can follow author to come in to her mind,

Ancient Greek Clothing
The dress was the primary way for individuals to display their identity and perform
social functions in various communities. Ancient Greek garments are crucial to
demonstrate the Greek society s values. As the number of complete garments
survived in the archeological records is limited extremely, it is difficult for
contemporary scholars to investigate their authenticity. Therefore, representations of
garments in sculpture and vase painting become the crucial evidences. The
fundamental characteristics of ancient Greek clothing are its loose and graceful
drapery. Clothes that resemble corsets and trousers are disgusted in ancient Greece,
because barbarians were the only wearers at that time. Even though Greek garments

Strophion While women s breasts were sexualized to an extreme in modern society,
the baring breasts only evoked pity in ancient Greece. What s more, eyes and hair
have more erotic connotations. The Greeks preferred small, firm, and round breasts,
rather than the spongy ones. Strophion functioned as the breast band. The original
explanation for this undergarment was uncertain, as very few evidence of the
strophion survived, and the visual sources were difficult to identify. According to
existing vase painting and sculpture, the breasts were either presented without any
covering, or revealing the silhouette. Mortal women who wore breast band were
dancers and entertainers. Embroidered patterns and skinny straps crossing over the
chest decorated the breast band as a distinguished form of costume that aimed to be
displayed blatantly at that time. In any case, breasts should be covered in a decent
way. This type of band became popular in Hellenistic art, especially in erotic pictures
and images of Aphrodite . In figure 3, a woman, probably Aphrodite, is (un)dressing

Ecuador, The Republic Of Ecuador
Ecuador, officially the Republic of Ecuador, is a representative democratic republic
in South America located in the Andes mountain range on the equator. Ecuador s
capital is Quito. Due to its mega diversity and natural resources and mild climate,
Ecuador s economy is developed around agricultural products. Oil, shrimp and
bananas are the nation s top export while the manufacturing sector accounts for less
than 7 percent of all export. (Worldmark Encyclopedia) Ecuadoris a small to medium
sized market for U.S. exports. In 2011, U.S. exports to Ecuador increased almost
12 percent to $6.06 billion. The Central Bank s forecast for GDP growth in 2012 is
5.35 percent, for a total GDP of $71.6 billion by year end 2012. (Doing Business in
Ecuador, sec. 1) Ecuador is open to foreign investment but its trade policy has being
unpredictable since the government is currently searching for new ways to improve
its trade balance. In 2009 the government decided to decrease imports and promote
exports through a new Production Code that includes various measures such as
import substitutions, enforcement of standards sanitary requirements and investment
incentives. (Doing Business in Ecuador, sec.1)
Throughout history, Ecuador faces many economic problems typically experienced
by a developing nation. Political instability in the country has affected the national
economy, discouraging international and domestic investment in Ecuador s market
and sparking higher interest rates. The

The students have a traditional schedule where they go to seven classes a day on
Tuesdays and Thursdays, where teachers teach through examples, models, and
projects. On the remaining days of the week, students do not have to go to class.
They receive their classwork online, along with teachers notes, resources to learn,
and a place for students to talk and interact about assignments. If students need help
on these days, teachers are available in their classrooms for extra assistance and
students are welcome to come in anytime. This program teaches time management
and allows students to have more time to explore their passions. Students no longer
have to spend the exact same amount of time in an easy class as a hard class.
Students decide for themselves what they need to spend time on. For students in the
11th 12th regular program, they go to classes every day with opportunities to have 2
unscheduled periods for extracurriculars, internships, jobs, or volunteering.
Extracurricular and volunteering opportunities, as well as part time jobs for
students, are available in the rotating area so students can still be at 1.1g for the

Cultural influence of the temple of Hera
It is very clear that ancient buildings can be a part of the evidence to show what
happed in the history. As a part of ancient culture, architectural languages have the
significant vale in both culture and construction. The temple of Hera, which becomes
the sign of Greek classic architecture even the whole Europe, plays an important role
in the Greece history and culture . This essay will start an analysis from the
structure and component of the temple of hera to present that how can cultural
factors affect the form and functions of a building. The temple of hera is located in
the site of Olympia, in a valley in the Peloponnesus. As a Doric construction with a
size of 50.01 by 18.76 m with three platforms, some of the walls in the temple of
hera was designed to paint for recording stories happened in earlier times while
some of them was used to depict mythological events. Thus it can be easy to found
that the cultural developed prosperous and stones might start to used as the main
material of Greek buildings since that period. The temple has two statues: Hera and

10 Things I Hate About You Chick Flick Analysis
A Chick Flick as broadly agreed upon is the kind of films that mostly appeal to a
female audience. Even the name itself is a bit offensive. It implies that films
having female characters are appealing just to women spectators, and films with
men, as protagonists are more commonly considered as widespread, while those
who have bunches of ladies in them are so called Chick Flicks , and in this way, a
corner shallow kind. Most of the time these films convey the point that ladies live
happily ever after when they get the chance to discover intimate romance. Other
Chick Flicks introduce a solid female protagonist but, as the film advances the hero
needs to change herself of to adjust to her end goal to observe affection, to be
recognized by her adoration intrigue, or to fit into her partner s life. Most commonly
the female protagonist is a stunningly beautiful woman, who likewise happens to be
blonde rather than a brunette, youthful, white and thin. Yet she needs to have a
blemish, which would make her more human and in this way, more relatable to lots
of people. 10 Things I Hate About Youis likely the most clear illustration. However
she definitely must be physically dazzling like all the female characters in the film,
with a specific end goal to keep the present magnificence ongoing.
Analysis Of Hsun Tzu And Frederick Douglas
Education now is something that is a way of life, just as eating is. However
historically, education was one of the only ways to stand out in society, to be a
gentlemen . Hsun Tzu and Frederick Douglas, though worlds apart, share many
similarities on their view of education and what it should be like; at the same time,
each text contains key elements that show how different their views can be and the
reason behind it.
The similarities are quite simple to obtain through these two texts. Education was
something that never ends and gets you everywhere in life. Hsun even states in his
text that learning should never cease (9). To him education is the only mechanism
that could alter human nature and change you as person. Which seems to be the
same for Frederick; education changes a person. If a slave were to be educated they
could begin to make more connections to things that are wrong and right rather than
being an animal and not even knowing one s age. A slave that is passive and weak
has the possibility of forgetting himself, and that is when disaster occurs, the weak
naturally end up bound (Tzu 10); the disaster being that a naГЇve slave working under
his master thinking there is no other way. While the strong headed slave bears up
under the weight (Tzu 10) figuring there is more to life and what is going on isn t
moral.
As important as education is to these two great historical figures, it doesn t come
easy. In my opinion Frederick had it much harder than Tzu for
Sam Houston Research Paper
Sam Houston, one of the most illustrious political figures of Texas, but that is not
all he was. Along with politics he excelled in being a business man, the study of law,
a solider to the Texas army, and a family man. But how could a single man play such
a significant role in the building foundations to the state of Texas? Starting with the
basics of who this man is and where he came from can serve as a guide as to why
he did the heroic things he did. He was a vital part in shaping not only Texas but
the young and prosperous country. Born on March 2, 1793, Sam had been the fifth
child and fifth son to his father Samuel Houston and mother Elizabeth (Paxton)
Houston. Along with his five brothers, he also had three sisters. The family resided
on a small plantation in Rockbridge County, Virginia ( ). At a young age of just 13
his father died and was forced to emigrate with his mother and eight siblings to Blount
County in Eastern Tennessee where they established a farm near Maryville. It was
not long after their settlement did... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the age of seventeen he returned home to his family for a short while, then
returned back to the Cherokees where he was adopted by Chief Oolooteka and

almost twenty years of age and had returned to Maryville, Tennessee and opened a
successful private school to help repay his debts. On his twentieth birthday however,
Houston received word about the war break out with the British. He enlisted that day
with the United States Army as a private. It was not long after, even within the year
of his service, he was promoted to Third Lieutenant to the 39th Infantry Regiment
where he received near fatal wounds in the Battle of Horseshoe Bend (lib u tex).
Houston eventually resigned from the army in 1818 so he could start his practice in
The Impact Of Environmental Impacts On The
Environment
According to environmentalists each of us has an ecological footprint based on an
estimated amount of how much land, water and other natural resources that we use.
Despite the controversies on climate change, we should protect the environment so
that the resources on the planet will be able to support many generations to come.
There are several ways in which we can challenge the opposing views and contribute
to a brighter future for our environment. The choices that we are facing in this current
era include: adapting to sustainability and shifting illegal deforestation.
We must preserve our planet by adapting to sustainability. We should recycle in our
everyday lives, and be environmentally conscious of how the items we utilize
impact our planet. According to Sarah Kaplan, by 2050 there will be more plastic
than fish in the world s ocean. (1). Of course, it is evident that recycling, is one
option to reduce our ecological impact on the planet, but a good place to start is to
minimize our usage of plastics. According to the US Energy Information
Administration (EIA),
the three main forms of fossil fuels are coal, crude oil, and natural gas. Coal is
extracted from the earth through surface mining or underground mining, depending
on the depth and concentration of the coal reserves, and crude oil is extracted in
liquid form from underground reservoirs, oil shale, or tar sands deposits. Once
extracted, crude oil is refined to create gasoline, fuel oil, and a variety of
The Men Who Built America Analysis
The Men Who Built America Essay John D. Rockefeller s peak wealth was 318.3
billion dollars based on the 2007 U.S. dollar. Throughout watching The Men Who
Built America opinions were developed on each man in the movie. As a viewer I
found myself rooting particularly for Andrew Carnegie and against John
Rockefeller and Henry Frick. The varied personalities of these three men led me to
see the desire for power in all of them, but the way they went about getting their
power differed immensely. Andrew at a young age worked as the assistant and
telegrapher to Thomas Scott, one of the railroads top officials and within three
years was promoted to superintendent. By 1889 Andrew owned Carnegie Steel
Corporation, the largest of its kind in the world. In 1892 Carnegie tried to reduce
wages at a steel plant in Homestead and the workers refused to work resulting in the...

The strike became violent ending in three detectives and nine workers dead. Frick
was a selfish cutthroat man and yes he did get the job done, but in cruel ways. I

  • 3. A Brief History of Guitar Music and Composers Luis Milan lived from 1500 to 1561 in Valencia, Spain. He was a Spanish renaissance composer who was the first composer to write and publish music for the vihuela. In 1536, Milan published a book entitled Libro de MГєsica de Vihuela de Mano Intitulado de Maestro. This book is his most famous, and is the first book in history that consisted of vihuela music. It included many villancicos, pavanas, and over 40 fantasias. It also included vocal pieces with accompaniment provided by the vihuela. It was organized so that the harder pieces were towards the end of the book and the easier ones were first. It also contained alternate passages in some of the pieces for more advanced players. Milan wrote various other books besides the one mentioned before. The first book that he wrote was called El Juego de Mandar. It was published in 1535 and was a parlor game book that also included music in it. His last written publication, El Cortesano, was written in 1561. It did not include any music but instead was a book that described the typical life of a professional musician at the time that he was working for the court, which was before 1538. Not much is known about Milan s life, except that he lived in Valencia for the majority of his life and worked for the ducal court up until the time he began to publish music. He dedicated his book of vihuela music to King John III of Portugal, which could mean that he visited or lived in Portugal for a while. Milan was not only
  • 4. Kolcaba s Theory Of Comfort Research Paper Kolcaba s Theory of Comfort Kolcaba s work on comfort was the compilation of other theorists work, which had used comfort in their theories. She had found that comfort was often used, but never defined as it pertains to healthcare. When the theory is applied in the healthcare setting, the interventions to enhance comfort relate to positive patient outcomes (Kolcaba, 1994). The word comfort can be defined in different manners. It can be a verb or a noun and can be physical or mental (Kolcaba Kolcaba, 1991). The term was analyzed in reference to nursing application for this theory. Kolcaba examined the history of the use of comfort from works of Florence Nightingale and Bertha Harmer. The conclusion of this was that overall concept of comfort was positive (Kolcaba Kolcaba, 1991). After the examination of the use of comfort in the past it was then looked at in the present time that Kolcaba was working within. Organizations like American Nurses Association and The Department of Health, Education and Welfare used the term comfort in stating their standards of care. The multiple works of theorists... Nurse s often do look at the physical needs of their patients, symptoms they might present with or from the disease they are diagnosed with. If you take the time to address other needs, that can provide comfort to the patient such as their anxiety level from the hospital admission or their language barrier, patient outcomes are better. Hospitals can be a scary place for many people, and nurses need to be sensitive to the comfort needs of their patients. Sometimes the things we hear and see every day, the beeping of i.v. machines, the overhead lights, the doctors, hospital equipment are second nature to us, but upsetting to the patient. All nurses should be assessing all the comfort needs Kolcaba categorizes, for overall better
  • 5. Pete s View Of Life I do feel as though Pete went back to get Donald in the end. They ultimately need each other. Throughout the story Pete was painted as the hard working wealthy brother always bailing Donald out of tough times despite the consequence. He might have complained along the way but he always came through. In my opinion Pete s actions are justified by his personality. A materialistic guy, somewhat content, financially stable with a familyin a nice home. It would look as if he had it all together, but in reality he does not. I feel as though Donald gives Pete a different perspective of life which is displayed on page 358 when he begins to contemplate the outcomes of Donald s decision to give Webster the $100. He begins to question his initial position... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pete gives the impression that he was jealous of Donald, whom he thought got all of the attention. This is displayed in the text when Donald references his mom worrying about him when he did simple things such as climb trees and Pete s response was, Mom was in a state every time you burped (Wolff 352). This statement alone depicts Pete as jealous of the extra attention Donald was shown by his mother for basically anything. Donald believes with conviction that Pete purposely tried to kill him as a kid by consistently hitting him on a part of his body recovering from surgery. There is a point in the story where Donald recounts his memories saying, The thing was, I couldn t have anything happen to me where they sewed me up because then my intestines would come apart again and poison me. That was a big issue, Pete (Wolff 352). He then goes on to say, Pete hit him in that spot every chance he got. In the text, Pete dances around the facts, attempting to make light of the situation numerous times. He is full of excuses, unwilling to admit or deny his part in the situation by inferring it was kid stuff or that maybe he did it. Never actually owning up to his wrong doing or even trying to apologize. I feel as though Pete associated his brother s age and sickness with him getting more attention. It is for this reason I believe Pete tried to hurt Donald as a kid, which in turn left Donald with an emotional scar far worse than his

  • 7. John Hughes Sixteen Candles There is much to say John Hughes marvelously crafted Sixteen Candles. Hughes interpretation of what it s like to grow up a teenager trying to find themselves is impeccable. In this comedic, blissful coming of age film, the story follows Samantha Baker or Sam as she is most often called as she navigates through her sixteenth birthday; everyone forgot this very important day in Sam s life. This movie truly has it all: annoying little siblings, misunderstood teenagers, an older sister who sucks up all the attention, conservative grandparents, freshman geeks, the popular cheerleader, and, of course, the hottie that everyone has a crush on. Procedure Of The Bernoulli s Theorem Apparatus Procedure Experimental set up The Bernoulli s theorem apparatus is set up on the hydraulic bench so that its base is horizontal for accurate height measurements from the manometer. The rig outflow tube is positioned above the volumetric tank. The rig inlet is then connected to the bench flow supply followed by closing the bench and the apparatus flow control valve. The pump is then started. The bench valve is gradually opened to fill the test rig with water. • 13. The Power Of Nature In Frankenstein By Mary Shelley s... Throughout the novel, Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, scientist Victor Frankenstein repeatedly meddles with the power of nature while building his creation, without applying the knowledge and consideration of the power of nature and its repercussions. Thus, man should respect the power of nature and its consequences. Natureis omnipotent, therefore, man should obey nature in order to avoid it from its aftermath, portraying Shelley s point that if man obeys nature, nature will not destroy something. There will be consequences if man does try to discipline nature which displays Shelley s similar idea that if man tries to counter nature, man will eventually fall. Nature can improve or restore one s mind who is in misery or someone who is suffering proving all in all, if man accepts and does not ignore the capability of nature, then they will thrive and be joyous and pleasant. Overall, if one does not tamper with nature, nature shall not tamper with one. One of Shelley s main points is that man is not equipped to tamper with the powers of the natural world. After Victor s fall and almost death, he meets Robert Walton, an explorer who is trying to find the North Pole and to exceed the average knowledge. Victor urges him to not make the same mistake he had. Victor realizes that nature is all powerful in his adventure and tells Walton how dangerous the acquirement of knowledge [is] and that man will fail if he aspires to become greater than his nature will allow (Shelley 39).

  • 15. Hispanic And Non Hispanic Americans Latinos/ Hispanics are one of the races that have a background with the higher risk to get diabetes type 2, but in what way does being Latino affect the course of the illness and what roll does culture takes in this problematic? There is a considerable difference between Hispanic and Non Hispanics. Many factors can be the reasons for this difference in numbers, but the most influential factors are culture, acculturation and, the medical cultural competence. First, for Latinos, studies have found that the prevalence of total diabetes, diagnosed and undiagnosed, among all Hispanic/Latino groups was roughly 16.9 percent of both men and women, compared to 10.2 percent of non Hispanic whites. However, when looking at Hispanic/Latino groups individually, it found that prevalence varied from a high of 18.3 percent for those of Mexican descent to a low of 10.2 percent for people of South American descent. The study showed 18.1 percent of people of Dominican and Puerto Rican descent; 17.7 percent of Central American descent; and 13.4 percent of Cuban descent living in the United States had type 2 diabetes (Alexandria, 2014). As people believe, also prevalence rose dramatically with age, reaching more than 50 percent for Hispanic/Latino women by the time they reached age 70 and 44.3 percent for men aged 70 74. Although this may be true, Latinos who migrate to the US have increased their rates of diabetes. The reason for this is the acculturation and how fast they take it. According

Greece is also famous for being the birthplace of democracy. The Greek word Logos translates into the English word logic , where logos means the theory, study, or rationalization of something. Logos also means word in Greek, so it involves the act of speaking, or setting forth an idea in a clear manner (Palmer, 2). Consequently, the word Logos signifies an irrefutable style of thinking about the world and provides an explanation of them with a clarified effort of thought and theory. In Stevenson s writing, he uses certain stylistic elements more frequently than others. One of these elements is the author s tone or attitude towards a certain subject. As described by literary critic Christine Fergus, had a ...thematic obsession with the pervasiveness of evil that came to dominate so much of Stevenson s later work... ( Thrawn Janet ). Through the theme of his stories, he shows what he truly thinks of evil in the Victorian era and what he believes evil is able to do in the world, past, present and future. Boubacar 4/14/2016 Abstract The purpose of this experiment is to identify the different blood types through the antigen and antibody reaction by using the anti A, Anti B and Anti Rh serums we will be able to identify the different blood types. We will also discuss how this can be used in the clinical setting of this blood typing procedure, by doing so we will know how antigens and antibodies relate to the blood typing procedure in the real world settings. Introduction For this experiment student will identify the individual blood types through the antigen and antibody reaction by using the anti A, Anti B and Anti Rh serums we will be able to identify the different types of blood. Red blood cells also known as erythrocyte are small cells shaped like an oval however they have a plasma membrane but no nucleus. Hemoglobin is the protein that allows the red blood cells to bind easily with oxygen. While hematopoiesis is known as blood cell formation. The independent variable would be the Red blood cells. While the dependent variable would be the Antibodies and the antigens Hypothesis With the antigen and antibody reaction we can determine ABO and Rh blood types by using certain antiserums. If an A Antigen ever comes in contact with an Anti a antibody then the blood will have a reaction. Also if a B Antigen comes in contact with a B anti body then the blood will

Confederate Women In The Film Gone With The Wind In the film Gone With the Wind directed by Victor Fleming, we get a glimpse of what life was like during the American Civil War and Reconstruction period from the perspective of a confederate woman. Fleming uses techniques like foreshadowing, symbolism, and imagery to create depth and enhance the themes within. Throughout the film, the emphasis on race, gender roles, and southern culture are shown through the characters and their actions. Scarlett O Hara, the main protagonist of the film, demonstrates the transformation of southern culture during the Civil War. Before the Civil War, all women were expected to live up to the stereotype and stay pretty , eventually marry to have children, and accomplish household duties. The idea that stuck out the most about the Lincoln ElectricCompany is that they obviously have a strong culturethat all levels of employees are proud to be a part of. According to Carpenter, Taylor, and Erdogan (2010), culture is a more powerful way of controlling and managing employee behaviors than organizational rules and regulations (pg. 193, para. 2). The Lincoln Electric Company encompasses facets of multiple types of cultures instead of adhering to only one. The ways in which the Lincoln Electric Company identifies with an innovative culture are most prominently explained by the following facets: not having a traditional hierarchy, and utilizing an open door policy when it comes to problem resolution. As explained in the Organization Structure section of the Case Study, personnel are encouraged to take problems to the persons most capable of resolving them [open door policy] (Sharplin, 1989, pg. 7, para. 1). In his opinion, the female role can be broken into two subcategories concubines and undesirable vestal virgins. His main argument is that the modern definition of the word love was not found in antiquity marriages, and that prostitution often gave men the desires and companionship that they longed for. From the maleperspective matrimony was just another form of property that reaped benefits, such as running a household and providing heirs, but did not provide companionship or fulfill desires. Due to the fact that well born women spent such little time in public there would be no reason for men to fall in love with the type of females they married. Instead Wiles argues that prostitutes, especially those who were unpaid, were able to form relationships with men because they had more time to connect with one another and could be found in public alongside each other. Aestheticism In Victorian England PARAGRAPH 1 MIDDLE CLASS/ORIGINS Aestheticism flourished partly as a backlash against the materialism of the growing middle class, assumed to be composed of philistines (those who abide by the social attitude of anti intellectualism that undervalues and despises art) who viewed and responded to art in an unrefined manner, and who failed to appreciate the artistic worldview that was becoming fairly prominent at the time. Wilde often describes in detail his disenchantment with the age in which he lived. Commonly referred to as the fin de siГЁcle (French for end of the century ) period, the 1890s in Europe, and especially Britain, were marked by a cynical sensibility that sought to free society from the asceticism that deadens the senses . Ascetism is a lifestyle characterised by abstinence from sensual pleasures, which was adopted by much of the world weary middle class. In this decade, many people in continental Europe felt a near constant sense of discontent. The morals that once seemed to control life and give it meaning were lost to an age of enlightenment. The two main reasons for this disillusionment were connected to the public functions of morality and art, which, in Victorian England, were directly linked. It was thought that art should function as a moral barometer, and for many people, this dictum left room for only the most restrictive values and uninspired art. The term fin de siГЁcle therefore came to describe a branch of thinking that sought to restore

With thoughts, your mind thinks about certain feelings, but you don t experience them first hand. With impression, you experience things such as hearing, seeing, and feeling first hand, instead of just thinking about them. For example, an impression can be used to describe a man who is in fit of anger , and a man who is thinking about anger, but not actually in a fit of anger would be considered to be a thought. A thought can also be considered as an idea. Hume describe ideas as being less vivacious than impressions . He feels that impressions are drawn from memory or imagination, thus causing them to be less lively and vivid. Our mind consist of many complex ideas, and according to Hume these ideas are the things that influence our imagination. He claims that complex ideas are combined into one big idea, thus resulting to a single idea. For example, when we think of a golden mountain, our mind use the memories we have of the color gold, and the memories we have of a mountain, and combine the two into a single image of a golden mountain. • 38. NMSU Parking Policy Analysis Introduction According to recent surveys conducted they depict that 70% of college age students own or have access to cars (CollegeParents, 2015). This being said, parking on college campuses should be taken as a highly important matter. The parking policy at New Mexico State Universityhas both its advantages and disadvantages. Being a studentthat attends NMSU I have experienced both. There are some things that I appreciate about the policy but there are also many concerns and factors that should be revaluated. The NMSU parking policy has many implications to the students, faculty, visitors, etc.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to CollegeStartClass (2015) there are about 16,765 students enrolled at NMSU and according to the NMSU Parking department there are only about 13,500 parking spaces available (NMSUParkingDepartment, 2014). This begs you to ask the question, is NMSU parking department selling more parking permits than they have space for? The parking department should only sale as many permits as they can provide parking for. Ultimately there are just not enough parking areas on campus. Another issue with the policy is the harsh penalties and fees that come along with the policy. The NMSU parking department is very good at keeping up with who is parking where and how many times an individual has received a parking ticket. The penalties become harsher after each offense to the point where they will put a boot on a vehicle. According to NMSU Parking Policy (2014) Consistent with state law, these regulations set specific penalties for each type of violation, as well as impose an additional fee per citation associated with the administration of NMSU s traffic program . It s understandable that the policy needs to be enforced but to the extent that they go can be a bit extreme. I propose that NMSU get rid of their parking policy all together and leave parking on campus as a first come first serve bases. If they want to charge for

I am a citizen of the United States who attends Jamaica Gateway to The Sciences and I have some concerns regarding the Patriot Act, which you have recently reinstated. I understand that you might be wondering what a kid would understand about the Patriot Act? Well, the thing is I understand plenty, as a matter of fact I agree with the Patriot Act to a certain extent. I personally believe that the Patriot Act is a great concept that reinforces the protection of the U.S from future terrorist attacks; however, some of its ideologies are slightly unjust. To my understanding the U.S Constitution is a number of principles that are supposed to be acknowledged by the U.S. I do not believe that the Patriot Act is obeying these principles; as a matter of fact it violates several amendments that are in the Constitution. According to the highlights of the Patriot act, Allowing males of Middle Eastern or South Asian descent to be profiled as potential terrorists, without probable cause... This allows any person who is of Middle Eastern or South Asian decent that lives in the U.S to be acknowledged as a terrorist without any evidence at all. This is completely inhumane and causes major problems in society. It mainly forces countless individuals of the U.S to live in fear just because of their ethnic background. Now, this is just one of the many problems of the Patriot Act. According to Eric Lichtblau, ... [The Government] demand records from institutions like libraries and medical offices; and use a broad definition of terrorism in pursuing suspects... This demonstrates the violation of the 4th amendment, which states, ... unreasonable searches and seizures shall not be violated... (Amendments to the Constitution). Essentially, I do understand and believe in the concept of the Patriot Act, however, I don t find it to be relevant if it is mainly contradicting the U.S

They viewed the politeness phenomena in communication as a common expression and they thought the reason behind the polite behaviors is actually face and rationality (1978: 63). To illustrate the point, they developed the conception of Model Person (MP) . By rationality , it means the availability to our MP of a precisely definable mode of reasoning from ends to the means that will achieve those ends (ibid) . And by face ,it means that the MP is endowed with two particular wants the want to be unimpeded and the want to be approved of in certain respects (ibid). According to them, there are two types connected with the FST. One is termed as the negative face the want to be unimpeded . The other is the positive face the want to be approved of in certain respects . Everyone wants to be a gentleman and everyone has his understanding about the self esteem, so sometimes she/he have to do a face saving compromise. For the two wants above, people take action to interact with the others and try their best to avoid making the hearer get into trouble. The original explanation for this undergarment was uncertain, as very few evidence of the strophion survived, and the visual sources were difficult to identify. According to existing vase painting and sculpture, the breasts were either presented without any covering, or revealing the silhouette. Mortal women who wore breast band were dancers and entertainers. Embroidered patterns and skinny straps crossing over the chest decorated the breast band as a distinguished form of costume that aimed to be displayed blatantly at that time. Even the name itself is a bit offensive. It implies that films having female characters are appealing just to women spectators, and films with men, as protagonists are more commonly considered as widespread, while those who have bunches of ladies in them are so called Chick Flicks , and in this way, a corner shallow kind. Most of the time these films convey the point that ladies live happily ever after when they get the chance to discover intimate romance. However historically, education was one of the only ways to stand out in society, to be a gentlemen . Hsun Tzu and Frederick Douglas, though worlds apart, share many similarities on their view of education and what it should be like; at the same time, each text contains key elements that show how different their views can be and the reason behind it. The similarities are quite simple to obtain through these two texts. Education was something that never ends and gets you everywhere in life. Hsun even states in his text that learning should never cease (9). To him education is the only mechanism that could alter human nature and change you as person. Which seems to be the same for Frederick; education changes a person. If a slave were to be educated they could begin to make more connections to things that are wrong and right rather than being an animal and not even knowing one s age. A slave that is passive and weak has the possibility of forgetting himself, and that is when disaster occurs, the weak naturally end up bound (Tzu 10); the disaster being that a naГЇve slave working under his master thinking there is no other way. While the strong headed slave bears up under the weight (Tzu 10) figuring there is more to life and what is going on isn t moral. As important as education is to these two great historical figures, it doesn t come easy. In my opinion Frederick had it much harder than Tzu for

The Impact Of Environmental Impacts On The Environment According to environmentalists each of us has an ecological footprint based on an estimated amount of how much land, water and other natural resources that we use. Despite the controversies on climate change, we should protect the environment so that the resources on the planet will be able to support many generations to come. There are several ways in which we can challenge the opposing views and contribute to a brighter future for our environment. The choices that we are facing in this current era include: adapting to sustainability and shifting illegal deforestation. We must preserve our planet by adapting to sustainability. We should recycle in our everyday lives, and be environmentally conscious of how the items we utilize impact our planet. According to Sarah Kaplan, by 2050 there will be more plastic than fish in the world s ocean. (1). Of course, it is evident that recycling, is one option to reduce our ecological impact on the planet, but a good place to start is to minimize our usage of plastics. According to the US Energy Information Administration (EIA), the three main forms of fossil fuels are coal, crude oil, and natural gas. Coal is extracted from the earth through surface mining or underground mining, depending on the depth and concentration of the coal reserves, and crude oil is extracted in liquid form from underground reservoirs, oil shale, or tar sands deposits.
