Business Cycle Essay
Crafting an essay on the subject of the business cycle can be a challenging endeavor, requiring a
deep understanding of economic principles, historical context, and analytical skills. The business
cycle, characterized by phases of expansion, peak, contraction, and trough, involves intricate
concepts that demand a nuanced and comprehensive exploration.
To begin with, delving into economic theories and models is essential, as one must grasp the
fundamental concepts underpinning the business cycle. This requires a solid foundation in
macroeconomic principles and an ability to navigate through the complexities of economic
indicators. Analyzing historical data to identify patterns and trends in various business cycles
adds another layer of complexity, necessitating meticulous research and attention to detail.
Moreover, addressing the causes and consequences of economic fluctuations demands critical
thinking and the ability to synthesize information. A well-rounded essay on the business cycle
should not only explain the theoretical aspects but also provide real-world examples and case
studies to illustrate the concepts in action. This requires a keen awareness of current economic
events and an aptitude for connecting theory to practice.
The challenge intensifies when one attempts to predict future economic trends based on the
analysis of the business cycle. This involves a degree of speculation and requires a careful
consideration of various factors such as government policies, global economic conditions, and
technological advancements.
In conclusion, writing a compelling essay on the business cycle is a formidable task that demands
a blend of economic expertise, research skills, critical thinking, and the ability to communicate
complex ideas effectively. It's a journey that involves navigating through economic theories,
historical data, and contemporary trends to offer a comprehensive understanding of the topic.

Ethical teachings and how they guide adherents in their daily lives
Ethics can be defined as Human moral conduct according to principles of what is
good or right to do . In Christianity there are certain ethical teachings, mainly The Ten
Commandments, Beatitudes, and Jesus commandments of love. The Ten
Commandments are derived from the Old Testamentwhich defines what people must
do in order to serve God faithfully and gives direction on how to live a life according
to the covenant and in essence to be a good Christian person. In the New Testament
the Beatitudes and Jesus commandments of love are found. With love being the main
concept of these teachings, they and the Ten Commandments can be seen as alike as

The Ten Commandments are regarded as the fundamental laws that all Christians are
to conform to. They were written by the hands of God himself and revealed to Moses
on Mount Sinai, inscribed on two stone tablets. They offer basic rules of behaviour
for spiritual and moral living to Christians. These laws still instruct Adherents today,
for they expose sin and show us God s standard. Without the sacrifice of Christ,
Adherents are completely helpless to live up to God s holy standard.
The beatitudes are eight statements taught by Jesus. Each Beatitude calls us
towards holiness, commitment and promotes positive human values. They are
concerned with virtue and how a believer in Jesus Christ can achieve that virtue.
The Beatitudes are a map of life, a series of directives helping us on our journey to
be with God. They are simply stated, but are profound in meaning. They guide,
point and teach. In the Beatitudes, Jesus taught his followers how to let love reign
the world, and when love overcomes all other things there will be a state of peace.
They show Adherents the values that Christ cares about. These values if followed
can not only bring a believer into a state of peace and happiness, but also right into
the Kingdom of God after our journey on this earth is over. Teachings of the
Beatitudes can apply to our lives today as they are timeless in teaching and
confronting us with
Satire in Catch-22 by Joseph Heller Essay
Catch 22, by Joseph Heller, is a fictitious novel that depicts life on an American
bomber squadron on Pianosa, an island off the coast of Italy, during the closing
years of World War II. A bombardier by the name of Yossarian, the main character in
the story, is joined by many others to create a comic drama unlike any other. But aside
from the entertainment, Heller uses Catch22 to satirize many aspects of everyday life
that consist of hypocrisy, corruption, and insanity. From the laziness of policemanto
the fake happiness brought about by money, the novel is painted with a great number
of points targeted against the faults of modern society. However, along with these
smaller targets, a majority of the Heller s satire in the novel is... Show more content

When Yossarian rebels against this system of injustice commanding over him, the
narrator states that Milo is ashamed of Yossarian who is quot;jeopardizing his
traditional rights of freedom and independence by daring to exercise them quot;
(415). According to Milo, it is not fair to fight for your own justice as an American
in the military. This statement is foolish and is exactly what Heller satirizes in the
book; the fact that during war, the freedom and individuality of lower ranking
officers are stripped away from them to satisfy the needs of higher ranking officers.
Yossarian later discovers through Major Danby that Colonel Cathcart and Colonel
Korn quot;can prepare as many official reports as they want and choose whichever
ones they need on any given occasion, quot; which is another example of the
bureaucracy allowing men to cease liberties in order to incite more power for
personal use (452). When continuing his discussion with Major Danby at the end of
the book, Yossarian uses an analogy to indicate to the Major just what it is like
being controlled by higher powers. After Danby wishes he was a cucumber or
some kind of vegetable so he did not have to make important decisions, Yossarian
states that if he was a quot;good one quot; then quot;they d cut you off in your
prime and slice you up for a salad quot; and if he was a quot;poor

The Bedroom, The Snug and the room with a view. These rooms offer exclusive

can request is as low as only ВЈ10. We think this is great because members who like
to cash out when they win at bingo, will know that even small amounts such like

met the wagering rules first. Don t worry though because they are low and fairly

Heaven is Common to Most Religions Essay example
While religion can be a vague topic where many things seem unconnected between
two or more faiths, heaven is a common aspect of most popular religions, such as the
various denominations of Christianity, Islam, Judiasm, and Buddhism. All of these
religions have a place, be it physical or another dimension beyond our
comprehension, where people s souls reside after death. The Christian view of heaven
is one many are familiar with, even if they are not necessarily a practicing Christian,
as it is the one most commonly depicted in the media. The baptist denomination
believes that heaven is a real, physical place that souls ascend to after death. The
only requirement for getting into heaven is to accepted Jesus as lord and savior, and...

Most believe either in a heaven like the Christian one, usually said to exist on
another plane, or that the souls wait until the coming of the messiah, after which
they may go to heaven. Entrance to heaven is obtained after death if the person was
righteous in life. Hell is not as clear cut as heaven, as some Orthodox Jews believe
that a wicked person s soul is tormented by demons of their own creation, often
temporarily unlike Christianity, or that their soul may be destroyed at death and
cease to exist. If an Orthodox Jew believes in heaven, they often believe it as a
more spiritual heaven with no solid apperances, or they believe that a person
would look in heaven as they did on Earth. Most Jews that believe in heaven
believe that they can enjoy worldly pleasures as they did on Earth. Moderate
Muslims believe in heaven as a place to go after death for those who do more good
deeds than bad. They believe it is a real place that allows them to experience any
and all worldly pleasures as they wish, as they reside in large, comfortable
mansions with an abundance of delicious food. They also believe in a hell, where
they would be punished physically and spiritually for the bad deeds that they had
committed in life, and there are many different levels of hell corresponding to the
severity of the sins the dead had committed. Fundamentalist Muslims have some
major similarities, but also some very large differences. Both types of Muslims
Essay On Obamacare
In an article published by The Atlantic, the main topic being discussed is the
Republican Party s inability to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act. The
political actors involved in the repeal of Obamacare are the Republicans who are
wanting to repeal the act, the Democratic party who is fighting the repeal of the
Affordable Care Act, as well as President Trump and GOP leaders who are trying to
influence votes. The Republican Partywas faced with difficulty gaining numbers in
support for the repeal of the Affordable Care Act. This is shocking considering that
the Republican party was Handed unified control of the federal government for only
the third time since World War II (Berman 2017). This statement alone shows the
overwhelming... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The White House and GOP leaders asked and attempted to persuade whoever they
could to vote in favor of Obamacare s repeal, but the problem was that there were
very few party members who were willing to begin supporting a bill that they had
already publicly ridiculed. It would make them look unreliable and easily
persuaded. In the article an interview by Representative Tom Rooney of Florida is
quoted. Rooney states, I ve been in this job eight years, and I m wracking my brain
to think of one thing our party has done that s been something positive, that s been
something other than stopping something else from happening. This statement is
very telling of the state of the Republican party. He believes that the focus behind
the party s goals has been lost and that the party has been lacking a major victory.
The party cannot be taken seriously until they are able to rally together and
accomplish something as a cohesive unit that does not require persuasion from GOP
leaders and even the President.
How the repeal of Obamacare did in the House of Representatives is very
representative of the current culture of the United States. American political culture
is based off a number of core ideals and values, and right now it can be said that the
country as a whole is facing severe division. Not all Americans share the same
views, but a large majority adheres to the same general ideals.
Complex Individual Identity
The identity of any given individual is, along with the societal representation of the
human anima, in many ways, an amalgam of your culture, social views, and all the
other constituents of the human psyche. The presence of a complex individual
identity, is undoubtedly of the prevalence within the humanity, as compared to any
other form of life. This adaptation has allowed our species to form complex social
bonds, leading directly to the genesis of society. On one hand, nations, groups or even
individuals can struggle to ascertain whether their loyalty is to themselves and their
people, or the world as a whole. This can lead to the previously mentioned entity
attaining chiefly domestic views, where the single nation they pledge themselves...

Taking place in 1956, the canal, built by Egyptian workers, was lawfully owned by
a private French and British association known as the Suez Canal Company.
However, the current president of Egypt at the time, Gamal Abdel Nasser, believed
it to be within the national interest of Egypt to reclaim the canal due to both the
massive economic boon it would provide due to it funding the Aswan dam, which
would help to flood the Nile, and the hydroelectric power gained from the raging
waters. Due to the aforementioned reasons at this time with the cold war still in
effect, Nasser s forces seized the canal in the name of Egypt, nationalizing it in the
process. Although a counterattack was planned by; Israel, Britain, and France,
Canadian Prime Minister Lester B Pearson in conjunction with the UN, planned the
first United Nations large scale peacekeeping force. The British and French wisely
bowed to the pressure exerted by the peacekeeping force, withdrawing from Egypt
almost entirely, and the entire conflict ended semi peacefully despite the 6 day war
between Israel and Egypt, with the Suez Canal being labeled international property.

Talented Mr Ripley is the first in a five book series written by Patricia Highsmith.
The story centres around Tom Ripley, young man whose life suddenly changes when
he is offered to travel to Italy. He agrees to go to Italy to convince Richard
Greenleaf to go back home and work for his father. After meeting Dickie, Tom soon
develops an obsession with him and his carefree lifestyle. That obsession becomes

triggers a series of thrilling events. The book was published in 1955 and was first

Into Thin Air by Jon Krauker Essay
The book Into Thin Air, written by Jon Krakauer, explores the struggle of man
versus man and man versus nature. The very different personalities proved costly to
everyone involved on the expedition. The team of climbers that were hiking toward
the summit of Mt. Everest on May 10, 1996, was oblivious to what lay ahead of
them. No matter how advanced the hikers were, Everest on this day would test the
will and endurance of everyone attempting to reach the summit. The one element that
no one person could elude was pain.
Jon Krakauer stated in his book, I quickly came to understand that climbing Everest
was primarily about enduring pain (136). At this point in the book, Jon was unaware

The pain for everyone grew increasingly greater each day that they were on the
mountain. Everyone on the expedition had to dig deep into themselves to find the
will to keep moving and to put their pain and fears aside. The pain that each of these
men and women on this mountain were beginning to feel was pain that would linger
well after they got off the mountain.
Mt. Everest s summit has always seemed an unattainable goal for most people. The
idea that most people have is that if I can climb Mt Everest, I can accomplish
anything. To have the money and desire to try to attempt it is one thing, but being
able to endure the punishment is quite another. Beck Weathers, one of the climbers
on this particular expedition, had such severe frostbite that he had to have his right
arm, nose and the fingers on his left hand amputated. Everyone on the expedition
suffered the rigors of Everest. The two expert guides, Rob Hall and Scott Fischer,
lost their lives due to a violent storm that ripped through during their descent from the
summit. Their impaired judgment also contributed to their demise. Everest is no
respecter of persons. Mt Everest is the most respected mountain in the whole world

Merit Pay Essay
Legal Status of Merit Pay Inasmuch as implementing a merit pay system is not
illegal, it can cause legal concerns. As stated by Pullin (2013), the legal concerns
will arise due to how a merit pay system has been established and the rubric to
determine who is eligible for the reward. For example, if a teacher perceives a
school leader does not like them, the controversy will be the ratings are not accurate
on their observation. If the ratings are not accurate, it will result in the teacher not
receiving their merit pay bonus. In my district, the teacher rating system is based on
80% teacher practice. As the school leader, I am required to observe their delivery of
instruction, data analysis, differentiation, curriculum alignment, classroom climate,
and professional responsibilities. According to the observation tool, one or two

However, each school district can work with the teacher s union to establish the
governing standards of the merit pay system. Smith stated in the article that schools
must implement what is has established as the measurable standards (2011). In my
district, the teacher observation tool is what the school leaders are mandated to use
in observing the teacher. It is important to give specific feedback to the teachers in
the praise and polish of each standard. The feedback should speak to what areas you
notice quality instructional practices and what areas are in need of improvement. I
use the actual terminology of the rubric when giving feedback to ensure I am

Multicultural Literacy
Discussion When students finish middle school and move to high school, is when
they are mostly likely to drop out of school. Students don t see the point of continuing
their education when most of the time they don t understand or don t relate to the
information that is being presented to them. Most of the time students rather be out in
the streets with their peers causing havoc, than being inside a classroom. Typically,
this often occurs in urban areas where the schoolpopulation usually consists of
students with culturally diverse backgrounds. According to the textbook Content

Students will be able to enjoy and understand the lessons, which it s obvious they
rarely do. We can t afford to keep losing students because of a simple issue like this.
If students have low reading proficiencies because they are dropping out of school,
it will affect the communities and workplaces. Students won t be able to be
successful because, nowadays the majority average paying jobs require for their
employees to be able to read, write and communicate effectively as well as to have a

benefits multicultural education has. This type of curriculum could be what keeps
culturally diverse students in school, or at least make it easier for them to
Stanley Kowalski In A Streetcar Named Desire
We cannot deny the fact that Stanley Kowalski might be a fascinating character but
to many he seems to be just another ratty character who plays a major role in the

The usual reaction is to see him as a brute because of the way that he treats the
delicate Blanche and the way he abuses his wife Stella. However it is apparent
Stanley possesses an animalistic physical vigor that is evident in his love of work,
of fighting, and of sex. Stanley knows no other form of a relationship between a

Chinese Civil War Vs Spanish War
The focal point of this essay will be about the similarities and differences between
the spanish and chinese civil war. There are multiple differences between the
Spanish and Chinese civil war. They both all involve how both wars ended and
started differently. Both wars were lead by different people and they were both under
different advantages and disadvantages.
The Spanish War was a war that started between the United States and The Spanish
(Spain). The war began in 1936 and it ended in 1939. The spanish civil war started
simply because of a declaration of political and military opposition from a faction of
the spanish military led by Jose Sanjurjo. Military revolt against the Republican

Hampered by a poor taxation base, increased military spending and widespread
corruption, the Nationalist government s loss skyrocketed. The Sino Japanese War
also caused government revenue to shrink, forcing the Guomindang to release
large amounts of paper money not backed by financial reserves. The result was
hyperinflation: a rapid rise in prices and a deterioration in the value of currency. In
1945, the leaders of the Nationalist and Communist parties, Chiang Kai shek and
Mao Zedong, met for talks. Both agreed on the importance of a unified military and
equality for all Chinese political parties. The truce was questionable. Therefore, by
1946 the two sides were fighting an all out civil war. Corruption was the main
problem for the Kuomintang party. No peace treaty was ever signed to officially end
the Chinese Civil War. Chiang Kai shek and almost two million Nationalist Chinese

Literary Language
Literary Language Wheelwright describes literary language as being depth or
expressive language, whilst he sees instrumental language, or non literary
language, as being that which is the negative limit of expressive language (http:/
/www.sp.uconn.edu/~jbl00001/FINCHAP1.htm). Literary text is something
which has many layers of meaning and although, appearing on the surface as
narrative, has a deliberate ambiguity to it and is never straightforward. Scholars
call this multiple meaning of the literary language various terms such as
plurisignaiton , polysemy , or poly or multi valency. The metaphors and similes
and indirect layers of meaning point to the polysemy of the text. That polysemy is
a part of literary language is recognized by Hayles who stated that For someone
steeped in literary analysis, it is a given that multiple signification is a plus rather
than a minus, or to use metaphors more appropriate to literature, a story rather than
a scandal (How We Became Posthuman, 60). Literature, in other words, possesses
various levels or depth and it is this that primarily separates it from instrumental
language. Often this polysemious character is more evident in poems than in
narrative as depicted in Donne s poem Go catch a fallen star . Allusions to religion
appear thrice in this poem: the Devil s foot and pilgrimage as well as fallen angels .
It may be that Donne is creating a parallel between the religious search and between
the search for physical/
The Genetics For Mongol Migration
Maryann Steadman
ANTH 3125
2014, October 11th
Reflection Paper One
Genetics for Mongol Migration Mongolia is located in between Russia and China,
and is a neighbor to Kazakhstan. The people that live there are called Mongols.
Mongolia, which is part of Asia, is part of what composes Eurasia. When it comes to
DNA and chromosomal lineage, there are many factors that lead to how a person
will look, who they will mate with, and what decisions they make in that process.
These categories all run under the term genetics. The second week s lecture said that
there are three major types of genetic data. There is autosomal, Y chromosome, and
mitochondrial DNA. Autosomal is a combination of your mother and father s
DNA that makes you. Y chromosomes come from your father and are given to a
son, and mitochondrial DNA comes from your mother. Everyone has the
autosomal and mitochondrial aspects of genetics. The mitochondrial makeup is
just what genes you got from your mother. However, only males have the Y
chromosome aspect of genetics since males sex genes are comprised of XY while
females are XX. Mongols (and their language of Mongolic) originally came from
the Altai Mountains, which are near Mongolia (week lecture two). In the second
week s lecture it is also noted that Mongolia may have been the original location for
starting Y chromosomal lineage. In Zerial s article, The Genetic Legacy of the
Mongols, it talks about Mongols being a star cluster for other people.
Happiness Is A Personal And Multi Dimensional Notion
Happiness is usually expressed as the point to which an individual assesses the
total worth of his or her existence as a whole positively (Veenhoven, 1993), and
regularly, considered on an ordinal scale of answers to biased questions. Most
experimental findings consume various kinds of self reported ideals on happiness
or particular well being dignified from various scaling methods. Happiness is a
personal and multi dimensional notion every distinct person depicts it in a diverse
way, it is comparative, and it is determine by an extensive range of influences,
involving individual personalities. Consequently, allowing it to be assessable and
creating causal relationships a task. The information and experimental studies
distinguish between the natures of happiness and noticing the connected expressions
life s satisfaction and well being. The explanations of recognised ideas overlap
through the proposal on happiness and are separated into numerous categories. In
this study, the main ideas associated to happiness and their factors are shortened in
order to pinpoint the major distinctions between the suggested terms and to
determine the theoretical agenda. The pursuit for happiness is significant and is a
must to human beings. It is a situation that majority of people attempt to accomplish.
Many of us can account, at least at some phase of our existent, being happy. We all
strive to live happy and fulfil our lives and want happiness for people that we love.

Conclusion:
In the experiment, I set up the 24 plate well, and added each solution one by one
while keeping track of which liquid was in which well. I lit my burner with
matches and started assembling my make shift cotton toothpicks. My Q tips were
plastic, so I (with gloved hands) ripped the cotton off the swab and wrapped it
around a toothpick. I then proceeded to dip the cotton in and wait a second or two
before waving it through the flame.
I noticed the color change with the sodium immediately, but with the others it took
a bit longer. I repeated the process with each liquid three times just to be sure.
Especially with the Potassium, as it was very difficult for me to discern the color
change. I tried to eliminate any major errors by taking my time and redoing the
experiment a few times, but I did spill a bit of the liquid as a cut the pipets open.
Also, my swabs may have been previously contaminated by the salt on our skin due to
frequent use.

A Creation For A Home For The Jewish People
Population movements are described as the repositioning of large, swaths of people
through the process of human migration. Shifts in a given population s demographic
is attributed to natural, behavioral or economic factors, i.e. victims of natural
disasters, refugee populations, and the relocation of people as a by product of
development projects. The creation of nations is a catalyst for population changes,
i.e. displacements and migrations. State building is at the core of population
movements through modernization, urbanization, industrialization and commercial
agriculture, rural urban, labor migration, refugee cases of resettlement or dislocations
of populations synthesis. Through state building the consolidation of boundaries

My argument in this paper is the qualitative consequences of Palestinian displacement
by Resolution 181 facilitated the Palestine civil war of 1947 which stimulate the
progression of hostilities into the 1948 War of Liberation.
On November 29, 1947, The United Nation General Assembly enacted Resolution
181 which dissolved the British Mandate of control over Palestine. UN Resolution
181 established a homeland for Jews dividing Palestine into two separate states, a
Jewish state and an Arab state. The UN Partition Plan was welcomed by the
displaced Jewish population, but the Arab community pre existing in Palestine
rejected the plan of partition. After UN General Assembly Resolution 181 was
implemented, a transitional period began within Palestine with the peace and
security compromised as a civil war broke out. On May 14, 1948, six months after
Resolution 181 went into effect and the British Mandate was no longer valid, the
World Zionist Organization (WZO) and the Jewish People s Council met at the Tel
Aviv Museum of Art in Tel Aviv, Israelwhere a unanimous approval of the Israeli
Declaration of Independence was proclaimed. The establishment of the State of Israel
was acknowledged by the United States and USSR within seventy two hours.
After the implementation of the Plan of Partition by the United Nation General
Assembly and the Hebrew Declaration of Independence, the Jewish population
celebrated the restoration of their political freedom, while the
The Marketing Environment And Marketing Mix Of A Firm
In this report, I have used marketing concepts to analyze the marketing environment
and marketing mix of a firm, which has achieved superior performance. I have
chosen one of the most famous and oldest retailer in the UK, Marks Spencer.
Marks Spencer is one of the best well known British department stores. It was
founded by Michael Marks and Thomas Spencer in 1884 (M S, 2014). It started as a
market stall at Kirkgate Market in Leeds. Nowadays, M S has transformed to an
international multi channel retailer with 798 stores in UK and 455 international
stores (M S, 2014). According to its annual report this year, it has earned a total
revenue of ВЈ10.3 billions over the last year. (M S, 2014)

Therefore Plan A is launched in 2007 (M S, 2014). It is a plan that promotes ethical
trading, environmentally friendly and sustainability. For example under this plan, M
S has developed a programme that trains suppliers with their rights, as well as
support some disadvantaged supply chain workers. With the help of Plan A, M S has
established a good relationship with their suppliers and also earn them a place of high
rated ethical trading company.
Maintaining good relationship with the suppliers is very important. If one of the
suppliers suddenly refuses to supply material to M S, they can find another suppliers
immediately. Therefore M S has never failed on the supply of materials.
вћўCustomers
M S mainly target the consumer market rather than business and government market.
The objective of M S is not only maximizing their profit, but also increase customer
satisfaction and their loyalty. M S target their customers on the upper class of the
society that means people with higher income, and also healthy eaters in the society.
Their target customers mostly aim at improving their quality of lives, concerning
about the product quality rather than prices. So M S devote their effort on improving
the quality of their products so as to increase customer s satisfaction. According to
Baber Smith, M S have seen as producing good quality products with good values
(Baber Smith, 2009).

SUBJECT: BOOK REVIEW of The Defence of Duffers Drift
b.Synopsis. The Defence of Duffer s Drift is a book in which the author, Captain
Swinton , has six dreams in succession. Captain Swinton drempt that Lieutenant
Backsight Forethought must defend a drift in South Africa against the enemy Boer
at all cost. In each dream he overlooks or makes a mistake, which is catastrophic
and costs the battle and the lives of his men. He learns from each dream the
mistakes he made and carries on from dream to dream the general lesson previously
learnt. In total he carries over (22 lessons) which ultimately brings him success and
victory in the end.

(1) Army Values. Having to choose two army values that most applied to this book.
Lieutenant BF was portrayed to be duty bound and displayed selfless service.
Despite being defeated several times in the defense of the Drift, he continued to press

his own. When he knew he had suffered tremendous losses and heavy casualties he
surrendered in hopes to spare his men and obtain aid for the injured.

Sandra Cisneros s “Never Marry a Mexican”
Sandra Cisneros s short story Never Marry a Mexican deals heavily with the
concept of myth in literature, more specifically the myth La Malinche, which
focuses on women, and how their lives are spun in the shadows on men (Fitts).
Myths help power some of the beliefs of entire cultures or civilizations. She gives
the reader the mind of a Mexican American woman who seems traitorous to her
friends, family and people she is close to. This causes destruction in her path in the
form of love, power, heartbreak, hatred, and an intent to do harm to another, which
are themes of myth in literature. The unreliable narrator of this story was created in
this story with the purpose to show her confusion and what coming from two

This did not appeal to Cisneros, and these ideas helped her become a very
influential writer. To begin, the protagonist Clemencia is like a chameleon, who
can blend into any social event and with any class of wealth when she says I m
amphibious. I m a person who doesn t belong to any class. The rich like to have
me around because they envy my creativity; they know they can t buy that. The
poor don t mind if I live in their neighborhood because they know I m poor like they
are, even if my education and the way I dress keeps us worlds apart (Cisneros
71,72). Clemencia is a woman who knows how to talk and have a good time. By
nature she is a very creative being who loves to impress by wearing the best
clothes, and show off to anyone to make herself seem better than others. (Cisneros
71). Clemencia is poor and does not have much being that she works for the school
system as a translator, and other various positions. But acts rich and very wealthy
to all of her friends (Cisneros 72). This connects with the myth of La Malinche, of
how the character is a bad woman who sleeps with lots of men. Furthermore, the
ability to blend in is a power the author gives the protagonist to be a temptress to
men to get them to have an affair with her, or something that is not serious, because
of her fear of commitment. Early on in Clemencia s life, her mother told her

Experiment 9: Aldol Condensation
Discussion
In this experiment, an aldol condensation reaction will be performed using two
different carbonyl compounds to form a beta hydroxy carbonyl compound.
Specifically, acetophenone and p anisaldehyde will react to form trans p
anisalacetonphenone. An aldol condensation reaction is an addition reaction that
consists of one of the carbonyl compounds being converted into an enol or enolate,
and attacking the second carbonyl carbon to form a C C bond. An enol is a
hydrocarbon with a double bond, with an alcohol group on one of the double bond
carbons. An enolate is formed when an enol is deprotonated, creating a structure that
is stabilized by resonance of the double bond as it interacts with the remaining oxygen
.
The alpha carbon, which is the carbon adjacent to the carbonyl carbon in a carbonyl
compound is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This introduces complications, since either compound can form enolates, or
provide the electrophilic carbon, giving a range of products. In this reaction, there
are two possible enolates and two possible carbonyl carbons, as the enolates can
react with protonated versions of themselves, or the other compound. In order to
obtain the desired product, the different parts of the reaction should have been
physically separated. First, the enolate should have been produced using LDA, an
extremely strong base that shifts the reaction strongly to the product side, with a
Keq of about 1019. Had a weaker base been used, equilibrium between the enolate
and the product formed by the enolate reacting with itself would have been
established with a Keq of about 10 4, which strongly favors the reactant side,
resulting in less enolate yield. After enolate was produced using LDA, the second
carbonyl compound would be added, allowing for correct product formation, as
ideally only one electronegative carbon would be present.
The Pigman Honesty Essay
Honesty is represented throughout the Pigman through Lorraine. Lorraine is
honest, by telling Mr.Pignati about who her real identity is. Lorraine and John
were honest to the Pigman by choosing to tell him who their real identity is. You
see, Mr Pignati, we re not charity workers. He just stared at us. We re high school
kids, John added a little nervously We re sorry we lied to you. He said (102). At this
point of the book Lorraine had started to feel guilty for lying to Mr. Pignati. She
was never fully onboard with lying to Mr. Pignati about not being charity workers
,and she decided that it was the right time for the both of them to fess up for what
they did and to tell the truth to the pigman. Lorraine decided that it was the right
thing to tell the Pigman the truth so that he would like them for them ,and that she

Architect of the Byzantine Legacy Essay examples
Architect of the Byzantine Legacy
Byzantine Emperor Justinian was the bold architect of a revitalized Byzantine
Empire that would leave a lasting legacy for Western Civilization. As much of
Europe entered the Dark Ages, Justinian s vision of a restored Roman Empire would
reverse the decline of the Byzantine Empire and lay a firm foundation that would
allow the Byzantine Empire to survive for centuries to come.
Justinian, whose full name was Flavius Anicius Julianus Justinianus, was born
around 483 AD at Tauresium in Illyricum in the Balkansof present day central
Europe. He was the nephew of Byzantine Emperor Justin, the son of Justin s sister

Rome would become the capital of the Empire s western territories, while the city of
Byzantium (present day Istanbul in modern day Turkey) was renamed Constantinople
and made the new capital of the Roman Empire (Bury 69).
From its peak under the Roman Emperors Constantine and Diocletian in the 300 s,
Rome importance in the Empire began to shrink. The commercial and cultural
growth of the provinces in Greece and the Near East had eclipsed the once robust
culture of Rome, where growing trade with the Far East was creating new wealth.
The Christian emperors felt more at home in the East, where Christianity, the new
official religion of the Roman Empire, was stronger and closer to its roots in
Palestine, rather than in the more pagan West (Norwich 11).
Forced from their homelands in Central and Eastern Europe by the savagery of the
invading Huns, Germanic barbarian tribes invaded the western territories of the
Empire. Under constant attack, the western Empire began to shrink, losing centuries
worth of territorial gains in Britain, Gaul, Spain, and North Africa to the barbarian
tribes, while the eastern territories remained strong, vital and secure. In 378, they
dealt the Roman Empire a major blow at the Battle of Adrianople (now Edirne in
modern day European Turkey), near Constantinople. In

The Slice of a Knife He didn t look that dead. Apart from the river of blood rushing
out the gaping neck wound, he looked pretty much the same as he did a few
minutes before. His hand was still clasped around his bottle of beer and face was
still frozen in a permanent gaze of boredom. The only thing different about James s
face was the single tear that rolled down his cheek and hung on the cliff of his chin
amongst his stubble. As it fell from his face, his body smashed forward into the
wooden table. And in that moment I felt completely alone. James was the only
reason I was there with the oudious group of so called friends . Only a few
moments before we had been having a wonderful time, drinking wine out of

fright caused everyone to panic. There were a few minutes of clattering in the
murky darkness before Bill switched his massive solar powered lamp he (ever so

the first place, particularly a solar powered one. He had also carried an excessive
amount of electronic devices that he immediately proceeded to plug in as soon as
he got the chance, perhaps thats why the power gave out. James was murdered in
that dark but did Bill have reason to see James dead? With James out of the way he
would be in total control of their company,
The Garden Of Earthly Delights Analysis
The Garden of Earthly Delights is a triptych painting by Hieronymus Bosch created
between the years of 1503 to 1515. The painting is an iconic artwork of the Northern
Renaissance art period. Northern Renaissance, popular in northern Europe near the
Alps, was influenced by the spread of Italian Renaissance in the 16th century.
Northern Renaissance artworks were dominate in religious art that emphasize the
importance of surface details. The Antwerp Mannerist, a group of anonymous artists
in Europe, had strong connections with the art style that appeared in Northern
Renaissance.
Like most Northern Renaissance art, The Garden of Earthly Delights was painted
based on Christianity ideals. However, unlike most Northern Renaissance artworks
that served as religious works for churches and other religious rituals, The Garden of
Earthly Delights was suggested to serve the purpose in Bosch s interest. There is a
possibility that this magnificent artwork was used to illustrate the consequences of
sensual pleasure. A major highlight of this artwork is the scene of mankind... Show

wanted to help people so when I saw the important role that sonographers play in the
medical field, it became clear to me that, being a sonographerwas exactly what I want
to do with my life. In 2007 someone who was very important to me passed away
due to gastric cancer. When my grandmother, who was a mother, father, and a
friend to me was diagnosed with gastric cancer my world collapsed. It was
devastating news not only for me, but also for the whole family. At the time my
grandmother didn t speak English, so it was very hard for her to understand what
the doctors and the stuff were saying. During the endoscopy procedure to determine
the stage of her cancer, she said it was the sonographer who made her feel calm and
treated her with dignity, even though she did not understand her language, that did
not stop the sonographer from showing compassion to her patients. So it was that
great care and sense of compassion that made me greatly appreciate what
sonographers do to help their patients. Seeing the important role that sonographers

Ataturk Essay
Mustafa Kemal Ataturk is known as a very important idealist in Turkey, which had
become an idol for Turks. One of the most important reasons he was that crucial for
Turkey was that him being a nationalist founder and leader, and the first president of
the Turkish Republic. Ataturk was born in Salonika (then known as the Ottoman
Empire), in 1881. The real truth is that, Ataturk, still being at his young ages, started
to think about making reforms for his country and society, and eventually had
reached his goals making Turkey a free and civilized country, by also being the first
president of Turkey. There are several policies and revolutions of Ataturk, which

The transition of a multinational empire to a nation state has happened; therefore,

Secondly, Populism means being against class differences and inequalities, and not
accepting the individuals, families, classes, and organizations being above one

Laicism, despite the fact that it separates state from religion; it also means that

Analysis Of The Film The Candidate
The 1972 film The Candidate is a satirical piece focused on the campaign process
in the U.S. The campaign which is analyzed is the race for California s senator.
The protagonist of the story is Bill McKay, a man who has a disdain for politics due
to his father s involvement as a state senator years before. However, when a
campaign managerMarvin Lucas shows up on his door step asking him to run
against the fifteen year incumbent,Crocker Jarmon, Bill s preconceived notions of
becoming a politician are shaken. Lucas convinces McKay that if he campaigns,
his platform will be centered on bringing awareness to issues that he cares about
(should I insert specifics?) not necessarily winning. Mckay s campaign would then
function similarly to that of a third party; calling attention to difficult issues
current politicians tended to avoid. Lucas was so confident in the idea that McKay
will not win that he writes You lose. in a matchbox and gives it to McKay. Once
McKay announces his decision to run as a Democrat nominee for senator his
campaign envelopes his life. Immediately McKay s media advisor orders him to
cut his hair, and dress tastefully to reflect a professional image. Then his schedule
is packed by his campaign staff with the regularities of campaigning like banquets,
rallies, and interviews. Any free time left is allotted to filming infomercials or
political ads.[ McKay s exhaustion due to the campaign s rigorous routine was
later displayed in the film through his slurred speech while he jumbled the lines of
his repetitious speech while he was driving to another event.] The infomercials
themselves were altercations of footage gathered from various staged events
which he used during the primaries to get his name out and explain his stance on
some policies. McKay s first stage event was in a poorer region of California
where he spoke to locals about issues involving employment. In the original
footage McKay comes off as awkward not knowing how to spark a conversation
with the men and women walking by, but after editing magic a voice over is used
to get his message across in a local broadcast. The second stage event involves
McKay approaching a group of youth on the beach and connects with them by

Comparative Film Review: London and New York London and New York, are two
of the top world cities. They play a major influence in the global economic system,
because of their position in the world system of finance and trade (Macionis and

adjacent communities which has a high degree of economic and social integration
(Macionis and Parrillo 2013, 6) London dominates southern England and covers

Like the Romans, the first thing the Dutch built was a canal with three bridges that

successful in the beginning but had to evolve to overcome the different challenges
they faced. The Thames River which made London strive, posed a great threat to

Aristotle provided an answer as to why people would group together and form

Doesn t that say something?
One surprising fact that is that presidential candidates are both FOR prayer in school.
Republican George W. Bush is said to support student led prayer. The 94 percent of
voters in

in one direction. And in a written statement, Democrat Al Gore said that allowing
students to engage in voluntary individual or group prayer is not only permissible
but worthy of protection. All in all the final votes are in the hands of Justices
Anthony M. Kennedy and Sandra Day O Connor. There s also another issue of pray

It appears that prayer in public schools is heading in one direction to the top. More
and more people are participating and it feeds the decisions of the Supreme Court.
Someday soon it s hoped to not have an issue such as this. But as they say... As long

The History and Importance of Robots
The first known robot was created around 400 350 BC by the mathematician
Archytas and was a steam powered pigeon. Archytas constructed his bird out of
wood and used steam to power the movement of the robot. This bird was then
suspended from a pivot bar at one point the bird managed to fly as much as 200
meters before it ran out of steam. This is not only the first known robot. Robots are
machines capable of carrying out a complex series of actions automatically or
controlled by imputed source by impued source. Robots could be defined in many
different ways but a robot isn t just a human resembling machine it can be drone for
example. A drone is simply a flying robot that can also be controlled or anonymously
through software flight plans... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Robots now are able to do many task by either being program to do that specific
task or learn it themselves on their own. They don t need to be program to do a
task. They are able to learn something on there own thats new and do it very
quickly. The ability to has a huge positive impact. Satyandra K Gupta states that In
a simplistic sense, the home robot marked can be divided into three categories(1)
robots helping wit dull and tedious household chores;(2) robots taking on new roles
in homes (e.g..,education, entertainment, companionship; and (3) robots in
assisted living communities (Parag.2). This shows that robots are able to educate
kids or entertain them. Robots can show companionship. Robots can be a part of
school for kids because they can always be ready to teach and are kid friendly.
They are able to show facial expression so can show emotion and almost be life
like. To sum up robots are going to make life easier by just helping around the
house or teaching a child how to read. Robots will improve our health care service
with the new advances in robotics. Rich Hooper states that It is dangerous for
humans to go out in space. keeping robots operating reliably in space presents
some unique challenges for engineers. Robots are a big part in NASA. For
example the robotic rover they use is very important for exploring areas in space
where humans can t go (Parag.2). This suggests that robotics are allowing man to
explore like never before. It is
Essay about Symbolism in Lord of the Flies
Symbolism in Lord of the Flies The story, Lord of the Flies, has many interesting
symbols relating adult society to kids surviving on an island. Many of the
characters and items in this novel such as Jack or the conch can be interpreted on a
macroscopic scale but the most important being this; a microcosm of children on an
island makes a great symbolic message about human nature, society and how grown
ups live and govern and how they cannot. When you consider the time Period this
book was written, you can see where Golding got some of his inspiration. Europe was

Throughout the story the little ones didn t do much but in the beginning they did
vote Ralph in and basically brought him into power. Because the people elected
Ralph, he therefore is a true democratic ruler. He passes the conch symbolizing
order around, lets others talk, follows rules and does not intend to break them
himself. There s trouble enforcing the laws just like our democracies, today.
However, we are still free living citizens, much like the kids under Ralph s reign.
Jack and Roger are the complete opposite. Jack represents the savagery and hate in
all of us. Starting out as a choirboy, he slowly evolves into the hunting Chief of the
opposition party. Methods used by Hitler were also used by Jack. Total control
such as binding and strapping Wilfred and propaganda like using the beast to
inspire fear and presenting himself as the only protection is used in his dictatorial
rule. He overthrows Ralph with fun, and then proceeds to use muscle once he had
friends like Roger. Roger is his right hand man but is even worse. He starts out
throwing rocks, moves on to torturing pigs and in the end he intentionally kills
Piggy. He was a terror while torturing with Sam n Eric and the executioner when he
killed Piggy. He is what Jack uses to rule, much like Hitler s personal guard and is
even more extreme and totalitarian than Jack. Jack and Roger s rise to power mirror

Tupac Amaru Shakur And Christopher Wallace
Tupac Amaru Shakur and Christopher Wallace also knows as Biggie Smalls are
both male rappers who lived a pretty short but famous mid 90 s career in the music
industry. Tupac and Biggie were able to escape the streets therefore, many people
claim that it was the industry that killed them. Tupac and Biggie are both famously
known for their rapping careers even though Tupac was more an activist and
Biggie rapper. Tupac Amaru Shakur who was born Lesane Parish Cooks was an
American actor and rapper. He was born June 16, 1971 to Alicia Faye Williams also

In 1991 he released his first solo album. At first his album did not sell well because
of marketing issues until Interscope Records sold his record. As fame came so did
trouble , in 1991 Tupac tried to file a ten million dollar civil suit against Oakland
Police Department . He claimed that he was brutally beaten for jaywalking. In
1994 Tupac and friends were charged with sexual assault to a woman in a hotel
room. He was soon convicted of sexual abuse and sentenced to a year and a half in
jail. Once he got out he wrote in his songs that he was never a rapist. A little before
the verdict in his case was announced Tupac was robbed and shot in the lobby of
Quad Recording Studios in manhattan. Tupac later accused Biggie Smalls, Sean
Combs, Andre Harrell and one of his close associates Randy Walker for the
shooting which sparked the West Coast East Coast Rivalry. During his prison
sentence he released his album Me Against The World and it became multi
platinum. Tupac is the first and only artist to have an album go number one on the
Billboard 200 while being in prison. Tupac was released in October of 1995 mainly
due to Suge Knights influence who was the CEO of Death Row Records. Knight
made a deal with Pac to release three albums under the Death Row Label and posted
his 1.4 million dollar bail in exchange. Tupac s life was soon to be ending On the

The Two Kinds By Amy Tan
In 2009, 33 million people in the United States were second generation immigrants,
representing 11% of the national population. The children of such immigrants in the
U.S., also known as second generation immigrants, experience a cultural conflict
between that of their parents and that of mainstream U.S. society (Wikipedia 1). Amy
Tan the author of Two Kinds , and the young character in the story both are a second
generation immigrants, who have struggled in their life with parents, about the
culture they assimilating and their real culture. In the Two Kinds story the author
illustrates the struggle between her American cultural identity, and her mother s
Chinese culture, as like the characters in the story. The author shows what is the
struggle and the conflict that cultural differences creates. The author also uses
symbolism, to address the conflicts between the characters in the story. The
biographical connection that the author Amy Tan draws in her short story Two Kinds
with her main character Jing mei, crosses in more than one side. First of all, they both
are Chinese American whose struggle in their identities with their Chinese immigrant
mothers. Due to a cultural conflict and lack of proper understanding of each other s
perceptions (Priya 1), and as a big gap developed between the two daughters and their
two mothers, in which resulted a complex relationship between them. Secondly, both
of the Amy and Jing mothers were cut off their native culture, and
Myths around Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol
DUI s have been on the rise in the past few years, therefore there have been many
myths on how to not obtain a DUI or a DWI. New York became the pioneer state in
which, they made to first drunk driving laws in 1910, followed shortly after
California then the other forty eight states followed. These DUI laws stated that a
driver could not operate a vehicle while under the influence, although intoxication was
not defined by legislature at this period of time. Then in the 1930 s committees
wanted to make the roads safer. So The American Medical Association started a
committee that studied the most common issues that lead to accidents. Also the
National Safety Council created a study that determined intoxication, they reached a
conclusion that a Blood Alcohol Contentabove 0.15 was intoxicated and anything
under a person was sober, this became the first legal limit for BAC in 1938. Although
as time progressed the laws became stricter, this was due to various groups that
petitioned against drunk driving. The pressure from these organizations led to
changes, such as raising the legal drinking age to twenty one years of age, which
was required for all states, yet drunk driving laws was not required by all police
departments at this time. Then the legal limit was lowered to 0.10 from 0.15, then
once lowered again to our legal limit we have to which is 0.08. The first myth to

How To Write A Letter From A Professor Faden
My defendant, Professor Faden has been brought to court today by the Disney Studio.
The plaintiff claims that Mr. Faden is guilty of copyright infringement, from the
mash up of numerous disney productions for the use of educational purposes of
copyright and how the law works. I m here today to defend Professor Faden,
because i can prove that he is in fact innocent. You see your honor, in order for me to
even begin defending my client i must first state the copyright and fair use law. The
law states that the congress shall have power... To promote the progress of science
and useful arts, by securing for limited times to authors and inventors the exclusive
right to their respective writings and discoveries. this law states that any form of
an idea is protected by the copyright law and for anybody (other than the original
owner) to use the work must ask permission, pay a fee, or follow the terms of fair
use; otherwise they have committed a federal crime and can be imprisoned for no
more than five years and/or be fined. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fair use law states Section 107 of the Copyright Act provides the statutory
framework for determining whether something is a fair use and identifies certain
types of uses such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and
research as examples of activities that may qualify as fair use. this means that you
can use another person s work as long as they use a certain amount of the original
owners work, or it is used for criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching,
scholarship, and research. In Mr. Faden s mashup he did not use anymore than 30
seconds of the movies used in the video. Meaning that his mashup is covered by the

Business Cycle Essay

  • 1. Business Cycle Essay Crafting an essay on the subject of the business cycle can be a challenging endeavor, requiring a deep understanding of economic principles, historical context, and analytical skills. The business cycle, characterized by phases of expansion, peak, contraction, and trough, involves intricate concepts that demand a nuanced and comprehensive exploration. To begin with, delving into economic theories and models is essential, as one must grasp the fundamental concepts underpinning the business cycle. This requires a solid foundation in macroeconomic principles and an ability to navigate through the complexities of economic indicators. Analyzing historical data to identify patterns and trends in various business cycles adds another layer of complexity, necessitating meticulous research and attention to detail. Moreover, addressing the causes and consequences of economic fluctuations demands critical thinking and the ability to synthesize information. A well-rounded essay on the business cycle should not only explain the theoretical aspects but also provide real-world examples and case studies to illustrate the concepts in action. This requires a keen awareness of current economic events and an aptitude for connecting theory to practice. The challenge intensifies when one attempts to predict future economic trends based on the analysis of the business cycle. This involves a degree of speculation and requires a careful consideration of various factors such as government policies, global economic conditions, and technological advancements. In conclusion, writing a compelling essay on the business cycle is a formidable task that demands a blend of economic expertise, research skills, critical thinking, and the ability to communicate complex ideas effectively. It's a journey that involves navigating through economic theories, historical data, and contemporary trends to offer a comprehensive understanding of the topic. Religion essay Ethical teachings and how they guide adherents in their daily lives Ethics can be defined as Human moral conduct according to principles of what is good or right to do . In Christianity there are certain ethical teachings, mainly The Ten Commandments, Beatitudes, and Jesus commandments of love. The Ten Commandments are derived from the Old Testamentwhich defines what people must do in order to serve God faithfully and gives direction on how to live a life according to the covenant and in essence to be a good Christian person. In the New Testament the Beatitudes and Jesus commandments of love are found. With love being the main concept of these teachings, they and the Ten Commandments can be seen as alike as they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Ten Commandments are regarded as the fundamental laws that all Christians are to conform to. They were written by the hands of God himself and revealed to Moses on Mount Sinai, inscribed on two stone tablets. They offer basic rules of behaviour for spiritual and moral living to Christians. These laws still instruct Adherents today, for they expose sin and show us God s standard. Without the sacrifice of Christ, Adherents are completely helpless to live up to God s holy standard. The beatitudes are eight statements taught by Jesus. Each Beatitude calls us towards holiness, commitment and promotes positive human values. They are concerned with virtue and how a believer in Jesus Christ can achieve that virtue. The Beatitudes are a map of life, a series of directives helping us on our journey to be with God. They are simply stated, but are profound in meaning. They guide, point and teach. In the Beatitudes, Jesus taught his followers how to let love reign the world, and when love overcomes all other things there will be a state of peace. They show Adherents the values that Christ cares about. These values if followed can not only bring a believer into a state of peace and happiness, but also right into the Kingdom of God after our journey on this earth is over. Teachings of the Beatitudes can apply to our lives today as they are timeless in teaching and confronting us with
  • 3. Satire in Catch-22 by Joseph Heller Essay Catch 22, by Joseph Heller, is a fictitious novel that depicts life on an American bomber squadron on Pianosa, an island off the coast of Italy, during the closing years of World War II. A bombardier by the name of Yossarian, the main character in the story, is joined by many others to create a comic drama unlike any other. But aside from the entertainment, Heller uses Catch22 to satirize many aspects of everyday life that consist of hypocrisy, corruption, and insanity. From the laziness of policemanto the fake happiness brought about by money, the novel is painted with a great number of points targeted against the faults of modern society. However, along with these smaller targets, a majority of the Heller s satire in the novel is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When Yossarian rebels against this system of injustice commanding over him, the narrator states that Milo is ashamed of Yossarian who is quot;jeopardizing his traditional rights of freedom and independence by daring to exercise them quot; (415). According to Milo, it is not fair to fight for your own justice as an American in the military. This statement is foolish and is exactly what Heller satirizes in the book; the fact that during war, the freedom and individuality of lower ranking officers are stripped away from them to satisfy the needs of higher ranking officers. Yossarian later discovers through Major Danby that Colonel Cathcart and Colonel Korn quot;can prepare as many official reports as they want and choose whichever ones they need on any given occasion, quot; which is another example of the bureaucracy allowing men to cease liberties in order to incite more power for personal use (452). When continuing his discussion with Major Danby at the end of the book, Yossarian uses an analogy to indicate to the Major just what it is like being controlled by higher powers. After Danby wishes he was a cucumber or some kind of vegetable so he did not have to make important decisions, Yossarian states that if he was a quot;good one quot; then quot;they d cut you off in your prime and slice you up for a salad quot; and if he was a quot;poor

  • 6. Heaven is Common to Most Religions Essay example While religion can be a vague topic where many things seem unconnected between two or more faiths, heaven is a common aspect of most popular religions, such as the various denominations of Christianity, Islam, Judiasm, and Buddhism. All of these religions have a place, be it physical or another dimension beyond our comprehension, where people s souls reside after death. The Christian view of heaven is one many are familiar with, even if they are not necessarily a practicing Christian, as it is the one most commonly depicted in the media. The baptist denomination believes that heaven is a real, physical place that souls ascend to after death. The only requirement for getting into heaven is to accepted Jesus as lord and savior, and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most believe either in a heaven like the Christian one, usually said to exist on another plane, or that the souls wait until the coming of the messiah, after which they may go to heaven. Entrance to heaven is obtained after death if the person was righteous in life. Hell is not as clear cut as heaven, as some Orthodox Jews believe that a wicked person s soul is tormented by demons of their own creation, often temporarily unlike Christianity, or that their soul may be destroyed at death and cease to exist. If an Orthodox Jew believes in heaven, they often believe it as a more spiritual heaven with no solid apperances, or they believe that a person would look in heaven as they did on Earth. Most Jews that believe in heaven believe that they can enjoy worldly pleasures as they did on Earth. Moderate Muslims believe in heaven as a place to go after death for those who do more good deeds than bad. They believe it is a real place that allows them to experience any and all worldly pleasures as they wish, as they reside in large, comfortable mansions with an abundance of delicious food. They also believe in a hell, where they would be punished physically and spiritually for the bad deeds that they had committed in life, and there are many different levels of hell corresponding to the severity of the sins the dead had committed. Fundamentalist Muslims have some major similarities, but also some very large differences. Both types of Muslims

The White House and GOP leaders asked and attempted to persuade whoever they could to vote in favor of Obamacare s repeal, but the problem was that there were very few party members who were willing to begin supporting a bill that they had already publicly ridiculed. Rooney states, I ve been in this job eight years, and I m wracking my brain to think of one thing our party has done that s been something positive, that s been something other than stopping something else from happening. This statement is very telling of the state of the Republican party. He believes that the focus behind the party s goals has been lost and that the party has been lacking a major victory. The party cannot be taken seriously until they are able to rally together and accomplish something as a cohesive unit that does not require persuasion from GOP leaders and even the President. How the repeal of Obamacare did in the House of Representatives is very representative of the current culture of the United States. American political culture is based off a number of core ideals and values, and right now it can be said that the country as a whole is facing severe division. Literary Language Literary Language Wheelwright describes literary language as being depth or expressive language, whilst he sees instrumental language, or non literary language, as being that which is the negative limit of expressive language (http:/ /www.sp.uconn.edu/~jbl00001/FINCHAP1.htm). Literary text is something which has many layers of meaning and although, appearing on the surface as narrative, has a deliberate ambiguity to it and is never straightforward. Scholars call this multiple meaning of the literary language various terms such as plurisignaiton , polysemy , or poly or multi valency. The metaphors and similes and indirect layers of meaning point to the polysemy of the text. That polysemy is a part of literary language is recognized by Hayles who stated that For someone steeped in literary analysis, it is a given that multiple signification is a plus rather than a minus, or to use metaphors more appropriate to literature, a story rather than a scandal (How We Became Posthuman, 60). Literature, in other words, possesses various levels or depth and it is this that primarily separates it from instrumental language. Often this polysemious character is more evident in poems than in narrative as depicted in Donne s poem Go catch a fallen star . Allusions to religion appear thrice in this poem: the Devil s foot and pilgrimage as well as fallen angels . It may be that Donne is creating a parallel between the religious search and between the search for physical/

The people that live there are called Mongols. Mongolia, which is part of Asia, is part of what composes Eurasia. When it comes to DNA and chromosomal lineage, there are many factors that lead to how a person will look, who they will mate with, and what decisions they make in that process. These categories all run under the term genetics. The second week s lecture said that there are three major types of genetic data. There is autosomal, Y chromosome, and mitochondrial DNA. Autosomal is a combination of your mother and father s DNA that makes you. Y chromosomes come from your father and are given to a son, and mitochondrial DNA comes from your mother. Everyone has the autosomal and mitochondrial aspects of genetics. The mitochondrial makeup is just what genes you got from your mother. However, only males have the Y chromosome aspect of genetics since males sex genes are comprised of XY while females are XX. Mongols (and their language of Mongolic) originally came from the Altai Mountains, which are near Mongolia (week lecture two). In the second week s lecture it is also noted that Mongolia may have been the original location for starting Y chromosomal lineage. In Zerial s article, The Genetic Legacy of the Mongols, it talks about Mongols being a star cluster for other people.

Sandra Cisneros s “Never Marry a Mexican” Sandra Cisneros s short story Never Marry a Mexican deals heavily with the concept of myth in literature, more specifically the myth La Malinche, which focuses on women, and how their lives are spun in the shadows on men (Fitts). Myths help power some of the beliefs of entire cultures or civilizations. She gives the reader the mind of a Mexican American woman who seems traitorous to her friends, family and people she is close to. This causes destruction in her path in the form of love, power, heartbreak, hatred, and an intent to do harm to another, which are themes of myth in literature. The unreliable narrator of this story was created in this story with the purpose to show her confusion and what coming from two completely different... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This did not appeal to Cisneros, and these ideas helped her become a very influential writer. To begin, the protagonist Clemencia is like a chameleon, who can blend into any social event and with any class of wealth when she says I m amphibious. I m a person who doesn t belong to any class. The rich like to have me around because they envy my creativity; they know they can t buy that. The poor don t mind if I live in their neighborhood because they know I m poor like they are, even if my education and the way I dress keeps us worlds apart (Cisneros 71,72). Clemencia is a woman who knows how to talk and have a good time. By nature she is a very creative being who loves to impress by wearing the best clothes, and show off to anyone to make herself seem better than others. (Cisneros 71). Clemencia is poor and does not have much being that she works for the school system as a translator, and other various positions. But acts rich and very wealthy to all of her friends (Cisneros 72). This connects with the myth of La Malinche, of how the character is a bad woman who sleeps with lots of men. Furthermore, the ability to blend in is a power the author gives the protagonist to be a temptress to men to get them to have an affair with her, or something that is not serious, because of her fear of commitment. Early on in Clemencia s life, her mother told her

Aldol Condensation Lab Ishaan Sangwan Experiment 9: Aldol Condensation Discussion In this experiment, an aldol condensation reaction will be performed using two different carbonyl compounds to form a beta hydroxy carbonyl compound. Specifically, acetophenone and p anisaldehyde will react to form trans p anisalacetonphenone. An aldol condensation reaction is an addition reaction that consists of one of the carbonyl compounds being converted into an enol or enolate, and attacking the second carbonyl carbon to form a C C bond. An enol is a hydrocarbon with a double bond, with an alcohol group on one of the double bond carbons. An enolate is formed when an enol is deprotonated, creating a structure that is stabilized by resonance of the double bond as it interacts with the remaining oxygen . The alpha carbon, which is the carbon adjacent to the carbonyl carbon in a carbonyl compound is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This introduces complications, since either compound can form enolates, or provide the electrophilic carbon, giving a range of products. In this reaction, there are two possible enolates and two possible carbonyl carbons, as the enolates can react with protonated versions of themselves, or the other compound. In order to obtain the desired product, the different parts of the reaction should have been physically separated. First, the enolate should have been produced using LDA, an extremely strong base that shifts the reaction strongly to the product side, with a Keq of about 1019. Had a weaker base been used, equilibrium between the enolate and the product formed by the enolate reacting with itself would have been established with a Keq of about 10 4, which strongly favors the reactant side, resulting in less enolate yield. After enolate was produced using LDA, the second carbonyl compound would be added, allowing for correct product formation, as ideally only one electronegative carbon would be present.

The commercial and cultural growth of the provinces in Greece and the Near East had eclipsed the once robust culture of Rome, where growing trade with the Far East was creating new wealth. The Christian emperors felt more at home in the East, where Christianity, the new official religion of the Roman Empire, was stronger and closer to its roots in Palestine, rather than in the more pagan West (Norwich 11). Forced from their homelands in Central and Eastern Europe by the savagery of the invading Huns, Germanic barbarian tribes invaded the western territories of the Empire. However, when a campaign managerMarvin Lucas shows up on his door step asking him to run against the fifteen year incumbent,Crocker Jarmon, Bill s preconceived notions of becoming a politician are shaken. Once McKay announces his decision to run as a Democrat nominee for senator his campaign envelopes his life. Immediately McKay s media advisor orders him to cut his hair, and dress tastefully to reflect a professional image. McKay s first stage event was in a poorer region of California where he spoke to locals about issues involving employment.
