Women In Congo
The French term Fond de Commerce in English means stock and trade. However, in Congo, the
phrase has another meaning about the stock and trade of rape victims with international aid
organizations Warner. The Congo We Listen To.(2017).
. International aid organization listened to stories of rape. Communities and women decided that
they need access to international aid, so women started lying. The marketization and
commercialization of rape have caused an increase in women claiming to have been raped. Lying
about being raped became a job women and communities use rape as a source of income and
access to other resources. Complexity of violence

Congolese see the issues of rape and knew that women lied. Congolese worker knows when
women were lying about being raped but did not say anything given that Congolese aid workers

There is an issue of statistical data in Congo given that the data is very hard to come by, and most

However, Congolese aid workers questioned whether data was over reported are formed Congolese

The Liberator By Alberto Arvelo
The Liberator, directed by Alberto Arvelo, is a historical biographical film documenting the life of
Simon Bolivar and his struggle against the Spanish for equality in South America. Somewhat
surprisingly, the cast is an incredibly gifted cast in comparison with other Latin American produced
films with smaller budgets. Г‰dgar RamГrez was the main actor who played the role of Simon
Bolivar in the film. Erich Wildpret played the critical role of Antonio Jose de Sucre. This
prominent general was murdered near the conclusion of the film. The third major character in the
film was actress MarГa Valverde. She played the supporting role of Maria Teresa Bolivar, Simon s
early wife (IMDB, The Liberator 2013). After opening with a coup against... Show more content on

The film documents many of the fights and journeys following the exile of Bolivar including a trek
across the Andes Mountain Range in order to attack the Spaniards in Bolivia. After these
journeys, the film demonstrates the political upheaval and consternation that arose due to the
self centered ambition of some political figures opposing a unified South America. These men
instigated another revolution against Bolivar and his ideals and although the coup in the
opening scene was not successful at that particular moment, betrayal eventually led to an
implication of the Bolivar s murder at the hands of the rebels. When this film was released in the
US on June 15, 2014, there was a mixed reception from critics. Many questioned the historical
accuracy of the film, primarily the portrayed death of Bolivar, Bolivar s extensive journey over
the Andes mountain range in the middle of winter in order to reach Colombia, and some other
minor dramatic elements in the film that increase the intrigue and plot of the film. The major
historical error in this film is in regards to Bolivar s portrayed death. It is widely accepted that
Bolivar did not die at the hands of murderous traitors, but instead died from tuberculosis at age 47.
In spite of this, many critics ranked the film

Alcohol Use And Alcohol
Another research study that align with the previous research study mention in this paper is the
study conducted by Merianos, King, Vidourek, Nabors (2015). The study primary aim was to
examine the relationship of recent alcohol use, binge drinking (past 30 days) and authoritative
parenting among Hispanic youth (Merianos, King, Vidourek, Nabors, 2015). The study unit of
analysis was Hispanic youth s ages ranging from 12 to 17 years of age. The participants of the
study completed surveys in the privacy of their own homes. Merianos, King, Vidourek, Nabors
(2015) results indicates a total of 13.8 % of Hispanic youth reported recent alcoholuse, and 8.0 % of
these participants reported binge drinking. Results further showed that Hispanic... Show more

students. Figure 3 illustrate the boroughs that each participants reside in. 50% lived in Brooklyn
and 25% live in Queens and the remainder lives in the Bronx as shown in figure 3.
Design and Data Collection Method
To answer the research question or test the hypothesis, a quantitative study was design to determine
the relationship between parenting styles and alcohol use among adolescences. In this research, we
identified the different instruments needed to collect the data on a sample of participants. Also, the
validity ( credibility) and reliability ( dependability) test were researched for both instrument. The
reliability was also analyzed using the SPSS software to determine the instruments dependability in
this study.
Parental Authority Questionnaire
One appropriate method for answering the research question or testing the hypothesis is the
Parental Authority Questionnaire (PAQ). PAQ was created by John R. Buri. The PAQ is a 30
item instrument design to measure parental authority, or disciplinary practices, from the point of
view of the child (of any age) (Corcoran, Fischer, 2000). This questionnaire comprises of a five

Dear Representative Westmoreland:
I am writing to you on behalf of my support of House Bill 129. This bill would allow water
authorities to propose a referendum for the cessation of fluoridation of county water supply. As a
citizen of district 3 and of a fluoridated county, I would greatly appreciate the ability to vote for
whether or not I would like to consume water with fluoride in it. I believe that a choice in the
matter would greatly benefit every county and its citizens. Since we are the ones consuming the

tooth decay decrease as countries that have fluoridated water. Fluoride is considered a drug,
according to the FDA, which means that it is a medical treatment. Medical treatments are not to be

Why Is Shakespeare Relevant Today
Shakespeare is arguably the greatest playwriter that has lived and although he died more than
four hundred years ago he is able to live on through his plays and poems that continue to be
performed today. Shakespeare has a universal reach with his plays and works intended for any
audience that are entertaining but also include important lessons. There are arguments that his
relevancy is no longer, but perhaps with evidence provided people will be able to see his works
are more relevant now than ever. Without further study and only taking a Shakespearian play for
face value there are already characteristics that make his works so timeless. The setting, stories,
and characters all seem familiar when they are watched and sometimes the characters seem to
reflect one s self. The story of Romeo and Juliet, for example, is one of love and passion for two
star crossed lovers who desire nothing more than to be together. For some this may be an over
romanticised fantasy, but others... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
More than that is the language he uses as well as the words and phrases he created that are still
being used today. Studying Shakespearian works is not only about analyzing story elements or
archetypal patterns but also learning where language that is being used comes from. A history class
teaches students how people got to Canada and what historical events have affected the way life is
today. In a very similar way the study of Shakespeare is a history lesson on literature and
vocabulary. Rather than teaching how Canadian culture was developed it is teaching how the
English language was further developed. For some students there might be a feeling of
disheartenment or hot bloodedness when they arrive at the realization that these eventful plays
must continue being studied but, in order to understand the language they use that Shakespeare
created they must look at how it is used and where these terms came

Non Fiscal Barriers And The Free Movement Of The European...
This question concerns non fiscal barriers to the free movement of goods in the European Union.
Issues concerning Articles 34,35 or 36 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union
(TFEU) are raised and Brian s potential claim is against France as the Member State who has
enacted measures which may restrict imports and exports, thereby violating the Treaty. Firstly,
considering the licence required by French legislation to importPS s, this could amount to a selling
arrangement which is defined in the case of Keck as rules that concern who sells the product
and when, where and how they go about it. Those selling arrangements which apply equally in
law and fact will not invoke Article 34 TFEU. As the product, the PS, in not directly affected, the
requirement of a licence may be a selling arrangement . However the selling arrangement does
not apply equally in law and fact because there is no licence requirement mentioned for domestic
producers of PSs . As the licence discriminates against imports, this may invoke Article 34 and it
is likely to be a measure equivalent to a quantitative restriction (MEQR). MEQRs were defined in
Dessonville as All trading rules capable of hindering, directly or indirectly, actually or potentially,
intra Community trade . In other words, an MEQR applies only to imports and not to everyone. As
the licence is an additional requirement for imported PSs, and applications are only considered
once a year in August, it makes imports more

Capital Gains and Dividends
Capital Gains and Dividends Under a source concept of capital gains, the business is the source
from which gains flow; how does this differ from the trust concept of income from a business?
The trust concept of income from a business indicates that the business is being managed in a
particular way. When a business is in trust, there is a requirement that it be managed ethically
(Unit 2, n.d.). That includes the income the business receives. This is very different from the way
a standard business is run, because a trustee operates the business and is in charge of managing the
income that comes from the business while it is in trust, along with other aspects of the business
(Unit 2, n.d.). Overall, the income that arrives at a business while it is in trust is under much more
scrutiny than income that comes into a standard business. While it is not taxed any differently than
regular income, there is more scrutiny regarding it. Additionally, the capital gains concept is
changed when the business is in trust, because the trustee and the business are not the same entity.
Even if the business is making money, that money may not be able to be classified and taxed in
the same way as it would be without being in trust (Unit 2, n.d.). What is the reasoning for
excluding inter corporate dividends (drd s)? Inter corporate dividends are seen differently from
other types of dividends, capital gains, and income. These kinds of dividends have been subject to
double taxation

The Impact of Ben Loman s Character on Theme and Character Development in Arthur Miller s

play was brief, he showed that if you are honest to yourself, you get to live the life that you want.
His honesty to himself is the counterpart to Willy not following the right dreams. Ben was what
Willy needed to be like. The theme of the play was lived and shown by Ben.
The effect that Ben had on the development of other characters is shown the most by Willy. Willy
was the brother of Ben and wanted to be successful like his brother. Through all the trips Ben made,
he was quite a successful man. Ben was rich and happy, which is what Willy wanted to. When
Willy s mind was going crazy, Ben would appear to him at times. Willy always seemed to be
happy when he talked to Ben, even though he was really talking to himself. Ben would offer
advice to Willy when Willy thought about him. After the restaurant incident, Willy was once again
visited by Ben. Ben was telling Willy how his family would be financially stable from the insurance
money if Willy died. This conversation that Willy had with Ben seemed to convince Willy that he
should kill himself in an automobile accident. Throughout the play, Ben had an effect on the
development of Willy.
Only briefly did Ben appear in Death of a Salesman, but he had a significant presence in the play.

Obesity in the United States is an epidemic of growing proportions. According to the Center for

Obesity has many different effect on several body systems. The most affected body system is the
cardiovascular system. High blood pressure or hypertension is a cardiovascular disease that many
obese patients suffer. Blood pressure is the measurement of the force of blood against arterial
walls as the heart pumps. The World Health Organization has recently reported One in three
adults worldwide, according to the report, has raised blood pressure a condition that causes
around half of all deaths from stroke and heart disease. ( New data highlight increases in

Obesity also increases the risk for Type 2 Diabetes. Type 2 diabetes occurs when the pancreas is

not used the body appropriately, glucose cannot get to cells and may not function properly.
Obesity also has significant effect on the musculoskeletal system. As with other body systems,

King Congo King Analysis
King Leopold set his focus on the Congo because he wanted to rule a colony of his own,
something bigger than just little old Belgium, and the Congo provided that. It had waterways
that connected the land, as well as people that he could use as slaves. A book that he had read
titled Java, or How to Manage a Colony had sparked Leopold s interest for a colony of his own
(Hochschild, p. 37). According to the quote, In the mid 1870s, sub Saharan Africawas a logical place
for an aspiring colonialist to look...about 80% of the entire land area of Africa was still under
indigenous rulers. It was ripe for conquest or, as Leopold was now learning to say, for protection
(Hochschild, p. 42), this land was an opportunity for Leopold to finally build a colony; especially
after Stanley had found the CongoRiver during an expedition. Leopold s purpose was shaped by a
desire not only for money but for power (Hochschild, p. 39). The Congo s resources were rubber
and ivory, ivory was made into false teeth, or piano pieces, among other things and this produced
a lot of profits once sold. However, the profits for rubber were much higher than that of ivory.
The land itself provides the power that Leopold wanted. Leopold was successful in the sense that
he did become the ruler of the Congo, he did gain profits out it, he did have slaves that built
railways, as well as an army made majority of its own people, the natives. Leopold failed in the
sense that he thought the truth would never come to

What Is Voyeurism In Rear Window
I chose to critique a movie called Rear Window, a realist film by Alfred Hitchcock produced in
1954. Starring James Stewart, Grace Kelly and, Wendell Corey. The genre is thriller and the sub
genre suspense infused with mystery. Therefore, Rear Window one of Alfred Hitchcock s highly
inspired audience participation films. When a person watches it, he feels, tantalized, shocked, and
exhilarated. Further in this essay, I will summarize the plots, discuss the styles used, and
deconstruct parts of the film.

Hitchcock, the director points it out to the audience as he concentrates on Jeff focusing on what s
happening inside his neighborhood. Allowing the audience to stay focused, as we become voyeurs
watching the various dramas unfolding. Moreover, Alfred Hitchcock has unlimited technical
brilliance with a boundless ability to portray a story in a very distinctive manner. Using the
techniques of dramatic variation of size to achieve other desired emotions from the audience, by
cutting from long shots to extreme close ups. The story line in the film revolves around voyeurism,
guilt, friendship, and sexuality. Moreover, the editing techniques in the film raise attention to the
events that unfold in front of us. The shots in the movie are edited in a relatively subjective style.
According to Hitchcock Editing shouldn t be in terms of cutting but rather in terms of assembly or
Mosaic (Hitchcok, 1963, p.4). Therefor, Montage is the process or technique of selecting and
piecing together separate sections of film to form a continuous sequence. When two shots
juxtapose in such a way it gives the third shot another meaning. This is one classic examples of
Alfred Hitchcock s way of thinking. The voyeurism practiced in the film makes the audience
conscious of why the protagonist is behaving in a certain

William Shakespeare s The Twelfth Night Essay
This semester we have learned about the differences that exist between theatrical and cinematic
elements in plays and films. Slowly with the knowledge gained, we transitioned into examining the
adaptations of the world famous playwright, William Shakespeare. For this assignment, we were to
choose a modern Shakespeare adaption and compare its successes and failures to its traditional
script. With the choices given, I decided to choose the Twelfth Nightto its modern adaption directed
by Andy Fickman called, She s the Man. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw it as an option,
therefore I felt as though it would be a great option to explore. I have seen the movie several
times since its release in 2006, however I was unaware that it was based off a Shakespeare play.
In my opinion, I believe that Andy Fickman did a fantastic job in adapting the play to its modern
audience. I was able to find some similarities and differences between the play and the film. This
paper will highlight each individual aspect of the play, film, its elements and my analysis.
Before distinguishing the details of the adaption, it is important to become familiar with the
original play, Twelfth Night. With some research, I was able to learn Twelfth Night is also known
as What You Will. In addition, the play indicates the end of the Christmas season and a time when
the norms of society were upturned. With this information and my background knowledge of its
modern adaption, I was excited to read the

There is pro choice and pro life. Pro life considers abortion unethical while pro choice considers it
to be ethical. Some reasons why it would be labeled unethical is because one may tie their
religion to their ethical standpoint and examine the potential life that a woman is carrying to be
pure and destined for greatness. They may argue that by having an abortion, one is taking away
from the world a potential Ghandi or scientist that may be able to someday create the cure for
cancer. They may reason that by having sex, a woman is already obliged to have a child if she
becomes pregnant and having an abortion is considered to be running away from responsibility.
They may also believe that by having an abortion, one is committing murder. On the other hand,
there are people who consider abortion to be ethical because they reason that regardless of the
potential life, it is a woman s body, future, and ultimately, her choice. They may also reason that a
woman should not have the weight of feeling the obligation to have a child because it is her
decision to mold out her own future and not have roles imposed on her by society. They may also
argue that a fetus is not in fact a full human yet; therefore, does not have a conscious and is

Information Age, All Share A Common Underlying Purpose
While there are a great variety of maps available in the information age, all share a common
underlying purpose. The fourth edition of Elements of Cartography concisely defines a map s
objective as to add to the geological understanding of the viewer; it is a carefully designed
instrument for recording, calculating, displaying, analyzing and, in general, understanding the
interrelation of things in their spatial relationship (Robinson et al. 1978). This is a truly holistic
definition of a map, addressing not only geographical features but quite literally anything that can
be displayed spatially on Earth. An excellent example that fits this definition is the clichГ© map
of Canada distributed to the class. This map would not fit a more archaic definition, like G. R.
Crone s assentation that the purpose of a map is to graphically express the relations of points
and features on the Earth s surface to each other, determined by distance and direction (1953).
Yet, the clichГ©s do form a map. Indeed, a representation of things in their spatial relationship to
add to the geological understanding of the viewer is truly what a map is. These representations
are invaluable in a number of different ways. The second edition of Map Use describes seven key
roles of a map: to record and store information, serve as computational aids, serve as mobility aids,
summarize complex representations and voluminous data, help us explore data, help us visualize
what would be otherwise obscure, and

Are Video Games Art No But Playing Them Can Be Summary
In response to the article titled, Are Video Games Art? No But Playing Them Can Be, by author
Phil Hartup, he makes the argument that video games are not art, but rather the audience that
engages themselves in playing them makes it art. The author uses examples such as Mona Lisa
and Michael Bay just to support his claim, and while his claims are interesting, some of the stuff
he says can be ridiculous, in my opinion. I, myself, disagree with most of his claims. Video games
have a big influence on communities just like art, and not only that, but without graphic ARTISTS,
we wouldn t be able to have these video games that we have today. Video games, in my opinion
have so much creativity in them that they should be considered as art.
Hartup introduces his claim by giving examples of art such as the Mona Lisa and a few examples of
things with what Michael Bay does in movies. There is no direct dialogue with art, says Hartup,
in which this case, I must disagree. They say that a picture is worth a thousand words, meaning
that all those details in paintings you see must give you some dialogue if you think about it.
Many people around the world are influenced and engaged with the dialogue of art, trying to find
a deep meaning to them, just like they are engaged in most video games in the same way. There is

this topic? The way I see it, and how I will continue to see it, is that video games is just like art due

Treatment of schizophrenic disorders involves taking drugs that are meant to decrease
dopamine amounts in the brain and to block dopamine receptors (Morris and Maisto, 2002).
Personality disorders are characteristic of a person s inability to adapt or be flexible to their
environment through their way of thinking and behavior. People with personality disorders
include unconventional people, as well as people who kill in cold blood serial killers for
example (Morris and Maisto, 2002). A type of personality disorder is paranoid personality
disorder for which the person suffering from this cannot trust anyone and is highly suspicious all
the time. Most people with this disorder believe themselves to be sensible and objective, but in
reality they are argumentative, devious, secretive, and unable to take the blame for their wrong
doing (Morris and Maisto, 2002). Personality disorders are thought to be aided by family, as well
as community influences. For example, a child who feels rejected or unwanted by a family
member(s) will act out, taking his or her aggressions out in an unacceptable manner such as defying
rules and regulations at school or within the community (Morris and Maisto, 2002). Sexual
disorders are classified into three main groups paraphilias, sexual dysfunction, and gender identity
disorders. Paraphilias disorder is the need to use unconventional objects to achieve sexual arousal.

What does it mean to be oppressed? To be oppressed means to be have rights taken away, as a
result of discrimination. People can be judged by their race, financial situation, gender, etc. and
can do nothing about this discrimination because so many other people strongly believe in
segregating the community by the standards that they ve set up. The image of a tiny person next

what it means to be oppressed. The tiny person in the image, the person from the poem, the person

The Need for Waste-to-energy on Ships
The Need for Waste to energy on Ships
Waste to energy power plants are lowering the amount of waste we have in landfills and turning that
into energy to meet industrial needs. What if there was a way to shrink these power plants and put
them onto cargo and passenger ships? According to the Palm Beach Post, the Environmental
Protection Agency says, a cruise ship with 3,000 passengers can generate 210,000 of gallons of
waste and sewage and 1 million gallons of grey water from showers and drains in a typical week.
1 Most of the material that lands in these waters is not biodegradable. The majority of ships will
dump their waste into the ocean, while others will store it until they get back to land, only to dump
the waste into landfills.
There are four reasons why having small generators on ships would work:
1)The use of generators would create job opportunities;
2)The generators are environmentally safe;
3)There would be abundant source of waste to use as fuel; and
4)The generators would keep dangerous waste, like plastic, from entering the waters.
The technology to produce energy from waste has already been proven to work. With a small
generator, ships would be recycling the waste into energy that could be used for providing
electricity, transportation, and industrial needs.
Waste to nearby facilities have already proved to be a great investment on land.2 The facilities
provide financial and environment benefits to the communities

for my company. The power of Hadoop is immense, with a future that promises even more
innovation and capability. Our organization is one of the most successful of its kind. We rent drill

In the volatile world of oil and gas, this is beyond valuable. There are a few qualities that a
Hadoop product must possess to be implemented at my company. First, to further increase my
company s competitive advantage, the Hadoop product that we choose needs to provide some
analytics capabilities. Oil tool rental companies are not known for their analytics, and we can
further our stellar customer service and product offerings by performing detailed industry
analysis. Second, since my company s IT administrator and I are both proficient in SQL, we
must choose a Hadoop product that has an SQL interface. Lastly, the Hadoop offering must be
able to be deployed in the cloud so our international users will have no trouble accessing vital
data. Hadoop is one of the most recognized terms in an ocean of big data buzzwords. In short, it is
the most efficient tool available to store and analyze data.
Hadoop is a distributed server, open source storage technology that operates with commodity
hardware ( What is Hadoop? , 2015). Distributed server means that the program is run across
multiple servers at one time, allowing for faster processing and for the system to remain functional
if one server fails. Like other open source software packages, Apache, its inventor, does not
exclusively own the code of Hadoop. Thus, many different firms have created their own version of

Discrepancy Of Wealth In Canada
There is a growing discrepancy of wealth in Canada. The gap between the wealthy and the poor
continues to grow. Seventy percent of wealth in Canada belongs to the most affluent section of
Canada s population (Mojtehedzadeh, 2014) . Many believe that Canada is not going through such
a dramatic disparity between rich and poor in comparison to other countries. However, the rich get
richer, while the poor get poorer. The gap between the wealthy Canadians and the rest is constantly
growing and the primary reasons are the rising unemployment rate in Canada, globalization,
inequality in wages and salaries, and high education rates. One of the main factors that increases
disparity between the rich and the poor is the unemployment rate in Canada.... Show more content

While import costs for goods and services are rising, the average income is not. Imports costs are
increasing as the value of the Canadian dollar falls. People who are working for a minimum wage
have almost no chance to purchase their own property in the near future. Housing prices in
Canada are constantly growing and are reaching record highs. In Canada, the average cost of
living is about $20,164 per year; which makes it quite difficult for individuals earning a
minimum wage to support themselves (Young, 2015). The increasing cost of living is often
mentioned from consumers based on an eye test. However, with the fallen value of the
Canadian dollar, this is becoming truer by the day. In its most recent decline, the Canadian
dollar has decreased by fourteen percent to just above seventy three cents US (Sreauss, 2015)
Canada imports almost 81% percent of its fruits, vegetables and nuts. Thus, as the Canadian
dollar decreases in value, the cost of these items has increased. This results in families spending
more of their income on living expenses. Unfortunately for Canadians, their income has not
increased at the same rate (CBCNEWS, 2015). For individuals on social assistance, the amount
received rarely covers both the cost of shelter and food, leaving many to rely on food banks. On
social assistance, a family would need to spend 37% of its income on food and 69%

Biological Structures And Processes Within An Organism...
Human s body is constantly under attack by: bacteria, viruses and many other microorganisms,
these are called pathogens. Our body is a rich source of water and nutrients that these pathogens
need to survive, it is a perfect environment for them to live and develop. Nevertheless, human s
body has its own way to protect itself from these invaders, therefore most of the time we remain
healthy. Immune systemis a system of many biological structures and processes within an
organism that provides a defence against disease. There are three major lines of our defence
against pathogens. The first is to prevent their entry by defences of the skin and mucous
membranes in the respiratory, digestive and urogenital tracts. If this fails, two internal defences
takes over: an initial non specific inflammatory response to injury, or if this unsuccessful, is
followed by specific immune response. Two major divisions of the immune response: non specific
and specific.
(Rowland, 1992)
Non specific defence attacks any molecule, which the body recognises as being non self and skin
is the first barrier that antigen needs to pass through. The first layer of the skin epidermis, consist
of the layer of dead skin cells that lack of water and suitable food, which inhibits the growth of
micro organisms inside the epidermis. Sebum, secreted by sebaceous gland in the skin, contains
fatty acids, which are toxic to many microorganisms. Areas that are not covered by the skin have

The War On Negative Liberty By Katherine Mangu Ward Essay
In our time of increasingly intrusive government actions, Katherine Mangu Ward writes this piece
about how more and more Americans are suffering from extreme government control over our
everyday lives. With degrees in both political science and philosophy from Yale, Mangu Ward
works as the managing editor for the libertarian magazine Reason. In The War on Negative Liberty,
Mangu Ward calls upon her philosophy and political backgrounds when she references British
philosopher Isaiah Berlin who breaks freedom down into two types: negative and positive liberty.
Negative liberty, or freedom from, hinges on the idea of noninterference, and, Positive liberty:
the freedom to fulfill your potential, Mangu Ward writes (661). Mangu Ward s purpose for
creating this text is easy to determine. She wants to get readers to see the wrong in positive
liberty and to oppose a so called war on negative liberty that the government is fighting, however,
she goes about it the wrong way. Using the idea of two types of liberties as well as many
anecdotes, the author makes a considerably weak case to inform the readers about, and also get
them to oppose this war on negative liberty.
While Mangu Ward does make a weak argument, negative and positive liberties were relevant
topics when this composition was written. This literary piece has no specific date assigned to its
creation in the textbook Rereading America. However, through the author s use of the Talibanand

Family Law Attorney
If you have come to a point in your life when you could use the services of a family law attorney
you may be struggling with how to select the right divorce attorney. There are several differences in
law firms that you can use to narrow your selections down.
Some of the factors that will affect your selection of a family law attorney are:
Confidence
A divorce attorney has to be aggressive enough to go after what you want from the dissolution of
the marriage. When you go to the free consultation visit you need to ask the divorce attorney
exactly what they will do to represent you. You want them to answer with confidence, to have
knowledge, experience, and determination. When you hire a divorce attorney you need a pit bull

When you call for a consultation at some firms you will have to wait several days, or even weeks.
If the office manager has to call you and postpone your consultation visit you may be dealing with
a law firm that does not have time to accept your case.
Experience
When you are comparing law firms that handle family matters like child custody, divorce, and trust
funds, you want someone that has experience dealing with the issues you might be facing. You
want a law firm that has dealt with many different types of family law matters so that they will be
prepared to handle anything that might come up during your case.
Affordability
Unfortunately you will have to consider the amount of money that the law firm charges to handle
cases like yours. Legal representation can be quite expensive unless you carefully select a law
firm that has prices you can afford. Some law firms have payment plans that they offer their
clients, and some of them postpone payment until the divorce is finalized because the other party
may be responsible for some of your legal expenses. You must bring up the matter of fees at your
first meeting and establish how much you can afford before you decide on the law

Conch Shell Symbolism
What does the conch shell in Lord of the Flies truly represent? In Lord of the Flies by William
Golding, a group of young boys are stranded on an island where they try to maintain a civilization
far away from society. The conch shell that Piggy and Ralph find is used to create a small
democracy on the island. It is a symbol of the civilization on the island, the orderthat the boys have,
and the powerthat a single person can possess. It represents how much of a connection they have
to society, and the degree of civilization that still remains. The conch is an important part of their
survival because without the conch, the boys can no longer live in harmony with one another
and will eventually destroy each other. Without order and civilization, the island cannot be
called a society. They can no longer hold themselves together, and have a higher chance of
destruction. Over time, the boys begin to lose sight of civilization. When the conch is finally
destroyed, the order between them is destroyed as well. The conch shell symbolizes the boys
civilization, order, and power. At the beginning of the story, the conch is emphasized as a symbol
of order, as that is the first idea that comes up when an assembly is established. When the conch is
blown, all of the boys head to the mountain where Piggy and Ralph are located. The conch
constituted order for them and allowed them to start a civilization in the first place. It also
represents power among the boys. Golding shows Ralph s

Otello And Desdemona
Otello and Desdemona
Act I of Verdi s Otello starts without a prelude. It starts directly with the storm. This opera has an
aggressive starting which is represented by strong music. The opera begins outside a castle in
Cyprus, near the shore in the midst of an unleashed evening storm full with queasy violin and horn
undulations and high woodwind lightning flashes (Hepokoski, 1987). Verdi represents the storm
with trumpets, cornets, and trombones. Then, followed by Cassio, Montano, and his full train, Otello
enters the castle.
Otello asks everyone to let him alone in order to stay with Desdemona, she moves closer to him.
Her eyes are full of love, and to demonstrate her ecstasy, Verdi uses a solo, muted cello that swells
with Otello s and Desdemona s emotions. Then, Otello starts to embrace her and starts singing his
immense love: Gia nella note densa , and she calls him, Mio Superbo Guerrier . Then, singing a
beautiful lyric, she asks him to remember how speaking both intimately was the foundation of their
love: Do you remember , she says accompanied by the halo of an angelic harp arpeggio. The string
instruments remove their mutes, and a grand, measured largo unfurls, the principal movement of
the love duet (Hepokoski, 1987). Desdemona starts describing how she got in love with the tales of
his adventures. Otello also remembers and both start exchanging wonderful lyrical memories about
their relationship.
The end of this beautiful and lovely moment of Otello

Analyzing Cat Stevens Song
The song If You Want to Sing Out, Sing Out by Cat Stevens, featured repeatedly in the film and
on the soundtrack of Harold and Maude (1971), was an original work created for the film. It best
represents the film and the ideas portrayed in it through the film s main characters by relating to
them through uplifting lyrics and meanings that can be associated with the pasts and presents of
the characters. It describes the way one yearns to live and displays the way the other does. For
Dame Marjorie Chardin, Maude, the song outlines her beliefs and shows how she lives her life
to the fullest. You can do what you want, the opportunity s on. She does whatever she wants to
do, whenever she feels like doing it. She poses nude, an already discouraged practice for young
people, as an older woman, she abducted a tree from public property to replant it in the forest
because it was dying, draws happier visages on sour faced statues of saints, she used to liberate
canaries from pet shops commenting that the world so dearly loves a cage, and she even lives in

The lyrics if you want to be free, be free depict Harold s wish but wanting to be free isn t enough

Structural Funding Policy in the EU Essays
Structural Funding Policy in the EU
The central aim of this paper is to examine European Union policy in terms of its agenda setting
characteristics. To do this, a theory of punctuated equilibrium is explored, based on the emergence
and recession of policy issues from the transnational policy agenda. The primary goal of this paper
is to define the current equilibrium and how it is punctuated. The secondary goal is to examine
what forces drive the punctuated equilibrium, so that we might predict punctuation in the future. To
this end, I hope to demonstrate the utility of the theory by studying structural funding (SF) policy

The increasingly interdependent nature of the transnational system has resulted in national borders
becoming ever more ill matched with political and economic forces and reality. This
interdependence has made it possible for Western European states to transfer policy responsibilities
to the transnational level in order to shape, manage, control, take advantage of, and keep pace with
the modern world.
To the extent that transnational authorities attempt to control, either directly or indirectly, the
economies and social welfare of its members, the study of policymaking is a process worth
studying. EU policymaking is governed by various instruments, including treaty provisions,
regulations, and directives. While many policy studies on the EU focus on the need for, and
benefits of, general economic and social policies, the more fundamental, and I would submit
rigorous issues of specific policy formation, and its impacts, are under researched.
The central aim of this paper is to begin closing that gap by examining EU policy in terms of its
agenda setting characteristics. To do this, I explore a theory of punctuated equilibrium, based on the
emergence and recession of policy issues from the transnational policy agenda. Defining the current
equilibrium and how it is punctuated is one goal of this paper. Also, examining what forces drive
the punctuated equilibrium, that is, under what conditions it occurs will help in understanding how

Social Work Skills Assessment A skill often used by social workers is assessment. Assessment is

and Raymond Zhang had a gang of hit men massacre Alex and Chad s family. Frank Avery, a
friend of the family, races into the scene and finds the parents already dead. The two babies are in
the back seat with a maid. She takes Alex and flees the scene. Frank sees Chad left behind and
takes him and runs.

Alex arrives and head butts Chad. When Chad revives from being knocked unconscious, Frank
convinces the two brothers to help avenge the deaths of their parents.
The setting for this movie is very appropriate. They are in Hong Kong where the laws are not up to
par with the American Style. This allows the corrupt trades of Zhang, Griffith, and Alex to go on
hardly disturbed by the Hong Kong police.
The dominant theme in Double Impact is vengeance and it is seen quite readily once the action
gets rolling. Alex and Chad are out to kill Zhang and Griffith for the massacre of their parents. As
the movie rolls on, Alex becomes suspicious of Chad because he thinks that he is playing around
with his girlfriend Danielle. We see Alex s thoughts of Chad with Danielle as he becomes drunker
and his mind imagines that they are having sex together.
These thoughts enrage Alex and he fights his own brother.
The whole movie was directed and acted very well considering Chad and
Alex are both played by the same person, Jean Claude Van Damme, which justifies the movie s
name, Double Impact. The main character Jean Claude
Van Damme plays more roles than just casting. He is also the fight choreographer and one of the
producers. His talent of kickboxing has come through in his first great achievement where he
played as Frank Dux in

Upton Sinclair Dbq
Who was Upton Sinclair is a question that is easily answered. Upton Sinclair was one in the group
of American writers known as the muckrakers. Sinclair along with Ida Tarbell, Lincoln Steffens,
and Ray Stannard Baker exposed scandal and corruption during the 20th century in hopes to right
the injustices in the world and create a better place for everyone to live. Upton Sinclairis known as
one of the most influential writers of his time due to his insuppressible ambition for equality,
financial freedom, and truth. His strong desires led him to be a prominent Socialist that revealed
the unfair working conditions in packing houses that eventually led to the Pure Food and Drug Act
as well as the Meat Inspection Act. On September 20, 1870 Upton Sinclair was born to an alcoholic

Roosevelt assigned the Labor Commissioner Charles P Neill and social worker James Branson
Reynolds to travel to Chicago and see if the novel correctly portrayed the conditions of the meat
packing plants. While some of the more extreme things from the novel were not present, the
condition of the plants shocked Neill and Reynolds. With the public wanting the government to take
action, Congress was able to pass two Acts; the Pure Food and Drug Act and the Meat Inspection
Act. These Acts prohibited foreign and interstate businesses to contaminate or falsely label food and
drugs while also regulating the inspection of the slaughtering and processing of animals sold for
human consumption. Sinclair s book The Jungle made him one of America s most influential
authors. Not only was he an author, he was a socialist. He believed that Socilaism would cure all
of society s troubles. With $30,000 of his book royalties he established a utopian community to
prove that cooperative living was a successful way to live. In 1916, Sinclair moved to California
where he continued to write, but also became very involved in politics. He ran twice for

to know what ethnic really means. According to the textbook, positive ethnic identity is an
important aspect to have a sense of personal identification with an ethnic group so that means that
the values and cultural traditions are shared among that ethnic group(Sigelman Rider). Every human
being has a distinct personality which is the primary building block for the formation of identity.
The personality characterizes how a person behaves and view things. The personality is developed
way before identity, during the early infancy. The personality defines the unique characteristic of
the thoughts, behaviors and feelings of a person which helps to develop the self identity. The self
identity being of an ethnic group begins during the infancy when the babies notice the difference
among the people. In the article, Stages of Ethnic Identity Development in Minority Group
Adolescents, it was mentioned that the process of identification development among the ethnic
group can be similar but the issues that they face can be very different (Phinney, 1). Ethnic group
plays a major role on how people talk, dress or view their status in the society. Stereotypes are also
a common problem that influences the identity formation. Stereotypes are based on personal point
of view and attitude toward a subject matter. Stereotyping is commonly visible among the societies

After these journeys, the film demonstrates the political upheaval and consternation that arose due to the self centered ambition of some political figures opposing a unified South America. These men instigated another revolution against Bolivar and his ideals and although the coup in the opening scene was not successful at that particular moment, betrayal eventually led to an implication of the Bolivar s murder at the hands of the rebels. When this film was released in the US on June 15, 2014, there was a mixed reception from critics. Many questioned the historical accuracy of the film, primarily the portrayed death of Bolivar, Bolivar s extensive journey over the Andes mountain range in the middle of winter in order to reach Colombia, and some other minor dramatic elements in the film that increase the intrigue and plot of the film. The major historical error in this film is in regards to Bolivar s portrayed death. Why Is Shakespeare Relevant Today Shakespeare is arguably the greatest playwriter that has lived and although he died more than four hundred years ago he is able to live on through his plays and poems that continue to be performed today. Shakespeare has a universal reach with his plays and works intended for any audience that are entertaining but also include important lessons. There are arguments that his relevancy is no longer, but perhaps with evidence provided people will be able to see his works are more relevant now than ever. Without further study and only taking a Shakespearian play for face value there are already characteristics that make his works so timeless. The setting, stories, and characters all seem familiar when they are watched and sometimes the characters seem to reflect one s self. Issues concerning Articles 34,35 or 36 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (TFEU) are raised and Brian s potential claim is against France as the Member State who has enacted measures which may restrict imports and exports, thereby violating the Treaty. Firstly, considering the licence required by French legislation to importPS s, this could amount to a selling arrangement which is defined in the case of Keck as rules that concern who sells the product and when, where and how they go about it. Those selling arrangements which apply equally in law and fact will not invoke Article 34 TFEU. As the product, the PS, in not directly affected, the requirement of a licence may be a selling arrangement . However the selling arrangement does not apply equally in law and fact because there is no licence requirement mentioned for domestic producers of PSs . As the licence discriminates against imports, this may invoke Article 34 and it is likely to be a measure equivalent to a quantitative restriction (MEQR). MEQRs were defined in Dessonville as All trading rules capable of hindering, directly or indirectly, actually or potentially, intra Community trade . In other words, an MEQR applies only to imports and not to everyone. Capital Gains and Dividends Capital Gains and Dividends Under a source concept of capital gains, the business is the source from which gains flow; how does this differ from the trust concept of income from a business? The trust concept of income from a business indicates that the business is being managed in a particular way. When a business is in trust, there is a requirement that it be managed ethically (Unit 2, n.d.). That includes the income the business receives. This is very different from the way a standard business is run, because a trustee operates the business and is in charge of managing the income that comes from the business while it is in trust, along with other aspects of the business (Unit 2, n.d.). Overall, the income that arrives at a business while it is in trust is under much more scrutiny than income that comes into a standard business. While it is not taxed any differently than regular income, there is more scrutiny regarding it. Additionally, the capital gains concept is changed when the business is in trust, because the trustee and the business are not the same entity. Even if the business is making money, that money may not be able to be classified and taxed in the same way as it would be without being in trust (Unit 2, n.d.). What is the reasoning for excluding inter corporate dividends (drd s)? Inter corporate dividends are seen differently from other types of dividends, capital gains, and income. It had waterways that connected the land, as well as people that he could use as slaves. The Congo s resources were rubber and ivory, ivory was made into false teeth, or piano pieces, among other things and this produced a lot of profits once sold. However, the profits for rubber were much higher than that of ivory. The land itself provides the power that Leopold wanted. The fourth edition of Elements of Cartography concisely defines a map s objective as to add to the geological understanding of the viewer; it is a carefully designed instrument for recording, calculating, displaying, analyzing and, in general, understanding the interrelation of things in their spatial relationship (Robinson et al. 1978). This is a truly holistic definition of a map, addressing not only geographical features but quite literally anything that can be displayed spatially on Earth. An excellent example that fits this definition is the clichГ© map of Canada distributed to the class. This map would not fit a more archaic definition, like G. R. The Need for Waste-to-energy on Ships The Need for Waste to energy on Ships Waste to energy power plants are lowering the amount of waste we have in landfills and turning that into energy to meet industrial needs. What if there was a way to shrink these power plants and put them onto cargo and passenger ships? According to the Palm Beach Post, the Environmental Protection Agency says, a cruise ship with 3,000 passengers can generate 210,000 of gallons of waste and sewage and 1 million gallons of grey water from showers and drains in a typical week. 1 Most of the material that lands in these waters is not biodegradable. The majority of ships will dump their waste into the ocean, while others will store it until they get back to land, only to dump the waste into landfills. There are four reasons why having small generators on ships would work: 1)The use of generators would create job opportunities; 2)The generators are environmentally safe; 3)There would be abundant source of waste to use as fuel; and 4)The generators would keep dangerous waste, like plastic, from entering the waters. The technology to produce energy from waste has already been proven to work. Seventy percent of wealth in Canada belongs to the most affluent section of Canada s population (Mojtehedzadeh, 2014) . Many believe that Canada is not going through such a dramatic disparity between rich and poor in comparison to other countries. However, the rich get richer, while the poor get poorer. The gap between the wealthy Canadians and the rest is constantly growing and the primary reasons are the rising unemployment rate in Canada, globalization, inequality in wages and salaries, and high education rates. While import costs for goods and services are rising, the average income is not. Imports costs are increasing as the value of the Canadian dollar falls. People who are working for a minimum wage have almost no chance to purchase their own property in the near future. Housing prices in Canada are constantly growing and are reaching record highs. In Canada, the average cost of living is about $20,164 per year; which makes it quite difficult for individuals earning a minimum wage to support themselves (Young, 2015). The increasing cost of living is often mentioned from consumers based on an eye test. However, with the fallen value of the Canadian dollar, this is becoming truer by the day. In its most recent decline, the Canadian dollar has decreased by fourteen percent to just above seventy three cents US (Sreauss, 2015) Canada imports almost 81% percent of its fruits, vegetables and nuts. Thus, as the Canadian dollar decreases in value, the cost of these items has increased. This results in families spending more of their income on living expenses. Unfortunately for Canadians, their income has not increased at the same rate (CBCNEWS, 2015). Our body is a rich source of water and nutrients that these pathogens need to survive, it is a perfect environment for them to live and develop. Nevertheless, human s body has its own way to protect itself from these invaders, therefore most of the time we remain healthy. Immune systemis a system of many biological structures and processes within an organism that provides a defence against disease. There are three major lines of our defence against pathogens. The first is to prevent their entry by defences of the skin and mucous membranes in the respiratory, digestive and urogenital tracts. If this fails, two internal defences takes over: an initial non specific inflammatory response to injury, or if this unsuccessful, is followed by specific immune response. Two major divisions of the immune response: non specific and specific. (Rowland, 1992) Non specific defence attacks any molecule, which the body recognises as being non self and skin is the first barrier that antigen needs to pass through. The first layer of the skin epidermis, consist of the layer of dead skin cells that lack of water and suitable food, which inhibits the growth of micro organisms inside the epidermis. • 24. The War On Negative Liberty By Katherine Mangu Ward Essay In our time of increasingly intrusive government actions, Katherine Mangu Ward writes this piece about how more and more Americans are suffering from extreme government control over our everyday lives. With degrees in both political science and philosophy from Yale, Mangu Ward works as the managing editor for the libertarian magazine Reason. In The War on Negative Liberty, Mangu Ward calls upon her philosophy and political backgrounds when she references British philosopher Isaiah Berlin who breaks freedom down into two types: negative and positive liberty. Negative liberty, or freedom from, hinges on the idea of noninterference, and, Positive liberty: the freedom to fulfill your potential, Mangu Ward writes (661). Mangu Ward s purpose for creating this text is easy to determine. She wants to get readers to see the wrong in positive liberty and to oppose a so called war on negative liberty that the government is fighting, however, she goes about it the wrong way. Using the idea of two types of liberties as well as many anecdotes, the author makes a considerably weak case to inform the readers about, and also get them to oppose this war on negative liberty. While Mangu Ward does make a weak argument, negative and positive liberties were relevant topics when this composition was written. This literary piece has no specific date assigned to its creation in the textbook Rereading America. However, through the author s use of the Talibanand other ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 30. Conch Shell Symbolism What does the conch shell in Lord of the Flies truly represent? In Lord of the Flies by William Golding, a group of young boys are stranded on an island where they try to maintain a civilization far away from society. The conch shell that Piggy and Ralph find is used to create a small democracy on the island. It is a symbol of the civilization on the island, the orderthat the boys have, and the powerthat a single person can possess. It represents how much of a connection they have to society, and the degree of civilization that still remains. The conch is an important part of their survival because without the conch, the boys can no longer live in harmony with one another and will eventually destroy each other. Without order and civilization, the island cannot be called a society. They can no longer hold themselves together, and have a higher chance of destruction. Over time, the boys begin to lose sight of civilization. When the conch is finally destroyed, the order between them is destroyed as well. The conch shell symbolizes the boys civilization, order, and power. At the beginning of the story, the conch is emphasized as a symbol of order, as that is the first idea that comes up when an assembly is established. When the conch is blown, all of the boys head to the mountain where Piggy and Ralph are located. The conch constituted order for them and allowed them to start a civilization in the first place. • 32. Otello And Desdemona Otello and Desdemona Act I of Verdi s Otello starts without a prelude. It starts directly with the storm. This opera has an aggressive starting which is represented by strong music. The opera begins outside a castle in Cyprus, near the shore in the midst of an unleashed evening storm full with queasy violin and horn undulations and high woodwind lightning flashes (Hepokoski, 1987). Verdi represents the storm with trumpets, cornets, and trombones. Then, followed by Cassio, Montano, and his full train, Otello enters the castle. Otello asks everyone to let him alone in order to stay with Desdemona, she moves closer to him. Her eyes are full of love, and to demonstrate her ecstasy, Verdi uses a solo, muted cello that swells with Otello s and Desdemona s emotions. Then, Otello starts to embrace her and starts singing his immense love: Gia nella note densa , and she calls him, Mio Superbo Guerrier . Then, singing a beautiful lyric, she asks him to remember how speaking both intimately was the foundation of their love: Do you remember , she says accompanied by the halo of an angelic harp arpeggio. The string instruments remove their mutes, and a grand, measured largo unfurls, the principal movement of the love duet (Hepokoski, 1987). It describes the way one yearns to live and displays the way the other does. For Dame Marjorie Chardin, Maude, the song outlines her beliefs and shows how she lives her life to the fullest.
