Essay On Prejudice
Crafting an essay on the subject of prejudice is undoubtedly a challenging endeavor. The
intricacies embedded within this theme necessitate a comprehensive understanding of the
multifaceted layers that constitute prejudice—be it rooted in race, gender, religion, or other
forms of bias. Tackling such a topic demands not only a keen analytical mind but also a deep
empathy to navigate the sensitive nuances surrounding the issue.
To construct a meaningful essay on prejudice, one must delve into historical contexts,
psychological frameworks, and societal structures that perpetuate prejudiced attitudes.
Addressing the impact of prejudice on individuals and communities requires a delicate balance
of empirical evidence and human narratives, weaving together a narrative that not only informs
but also prompts reflection.
Furthermore, the challenge lies not only in articulating the negative consequences of prejudice
but also in proposing viable solutions. Unraveling the complexities of how prejudice manifests
itself in various spheres demands a nuanced exploration, requiring the writer to tread carefully in
order to foster understanding rather than perpetuate stereotypes.
In conclusion, writing an essay on prejudice demands intellectual rigor, empathy, and an ability
to navigate the intricacies of a deeply rooted societal issue. However, it is through such
thoughtful exploration that one can contribute to the ongoing dialogue surrounding prejudice
and, hopefully, inspire positive change.

Battle Hymn Of The Tiger Mother By Amy Chua
In the Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother, Amy Chua addresses two main styles of
parenting, and which style she thinks is better for children. The main parenting styles
she talks about are Western style parenting, and Chinese parenting. Amy implies that
Western parents are more lenient and less strict, and that Chinese parents are very
strict and harder on children so that they grow up to be successful. In the essay, she
claims that Chinese parents are a lot tougher and more strict on their children than
Western parents, so they raise more successful kids. Amy Chua believes that strict,
tough parentingwill usually allow their children to have more of an advantage in the
world than more lenient parenting because they help the child develop... Show more

They think the children must spend their lives recompensing their parents because
of what they did for them. On the other hand, Western parents feel they need to
always help their child, no matter what age they are or how much they have
helped them in the past. They us the reasoning that the child did not choose to be
born. Chua also thinks that she knows what is best for her children. She makes all
of the decisions for them. One example she uses is that she won t let her daughters
have boyfriends in high school because it would take up too much of their time.
She also won t let her kids be in the school play. One of the stories she tells about
her seven year old daughter shows how harsh Chua can be, but sometimes harsh
parenting works. Her daughter, Lulu, was practising the piano, and she couldn t
play the song at all using both of her hands. She could play the part with both of
her hands separate, but when she tried to play it with her hands in sync, it didn t
sound good. She tried over and over again, but she just couldn t play it. She had
wanted to give up, and when she had told her mom that she wanted to give up, she
called her lazy, pathetic, and a coward. She threatened her by not letting her eat
dinner, use the bathroom, or even get a glass of water. She also threatened to take
away Christmas and birthday presents for a few years. Finally, after hours and hours
spent working, she miraculously played the song with both of
The On A Sleepy Mind And Sleepy Body
Introduction
There is a large difference between a sleepy mind and a sleepy body, but the
combination is the characteristics of a fatigued person. A fatigued person has
behavior similar to that of drunkenness, [under] the effects of a large dose of alcohol
[1]. Many careers, which include high stress situations and strict timelines, often
deprive employees of a good rest due to their working environment. An example of
such would be the life of an Airline Pilot, where passenger safety, fast changing
weather and inconvenient schedules prevent the Pilot from receiving enough rest. In
a British study done in 2014, 86.1% of Pilots reported that they commenced a shift
while fatigued and reported feeling utterly drained, very slow to think and process
information [2]. Such conditions can cause a lack of judgments and more mistakes
occur, which in turn leads to accidents. Airlines and government agencies have
developed techniques and laws which aid the flight crew to operate while being well
rested, resulting in reduced errors. [enter purpose systems]
Causes and Sympoms A leading cause in fatigue in pilots is the long hours and
times of commuting between flights. Especially at the entry level flying positions,
as a result of the low pay, pilots cannot afford to live near major airports and are
required to drive for a long period of time, which can further aggravate exhaustion.
Along with that, many airlines require their pilots to operate through bases which are

Comparison Of H, H. Holmes, And Gary Ridgway And The
Green...
The united states have had many violent, brutal, and deranged serial killers which
have shaped what we know about murder today, some of the most twisted may
have been Herman Webster Mudgett, better known as H.H Holmes, as well as
Gary Ridgway, AKA The Green River Killer. While both of them are similar in
many aspects, in some ways they are worlds apart. H. H Holmes was born Herman
Webster Mudgett in Gilmanton New Hampshire to parents Levi Horton Mudgett and
Theodate Page Price. Holmes was the third child born into his family, youngest of an
older brother named Arthur and an older sister named Mary. Born into an affluent
family, Holmes was said to be remarkably intelligent at a young age. Holmes parents
were devout Methodists and he grew... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Holmes later recollected that this event in particular led to his interest in anatomy
and led him pursue a degree at The University of Michigan Medical School in 1884
(Borowski, 2003). Holmes impulses to experiment with animals did not cease
throughout his childhood after those events. He would discover forest animals
close to his home in the neighboring woods, and dismember them to learn more
about their anatomy and physiology. (Bailin, 2008). This didn t only provide
Holmes the knowledge of how to dismember, but it also provided him the
psychological enabler to fuel his delusions. It is quite possible that Holmes
obsession with death may have driven him to murder at the young age of 11,
disguising it as an accident. Holmes had a friend who was older than him named
Tom, and they would sometimes hangout. On one particular occasion, Tom and
Holmes were exploring an abandoned home. Holmes recalls during their exploration,
seeing Tom Fall off a landing to his death, but many speculate that Holmes may have
pushed him. (Schechter, 2003). Born on February 18th, 1949, Gary Ridgway was
born to Mary Rita Steinman and Thomas Newton Ridgway, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Gary, much like Holmes, had two siblings, though one was older, and one was
younger. Ridgway was born into a middle class family and had many family
problems. Ridgway would often argue with his parents,
Tlon Sparknotes
Man I am glad that our world is intelligible! Enjoy!
In his excerpt of Tlon, Borges speaks about the discovery of a nation called Uqbar
and exhibits much interest in it. He attempts to conduct research on it, however, fails
miserably and can only find a single encyclopedia that mentions it existence. Some
years later, Borges comes across an encyclopedia called the first encyclopedia of
Tlon. He becomes fascinated with Tlon and concludes that it was nothing more than a
concoction of intellectuals who simply made up this planet and decided to write about
it. Ironically, as the years pass, Borges comes across more and more information
regarding Tlon and soon discovers that the rest of the world is being informed of the

Clarke would offer little surprise that Borges retreats within himself because if
being were unintelligible, then life would have no purpose. Clarke emphasizes
that the unrestricted drive to know is what gives rise to metaphysics and that if the
world was unintelligible that every person would be doomed to horrid frustration.
Further, if the world were unintelligible, then our scope of knowledge would be
reduced to nothing but the observation of what is in front of us. For instance, if a
cow were to leave a cow pie on the edge of a green pasture(and lets say that only
cows can leave a mark like this and that one cow their cow remained on earth) and
then waltz over to the barn and the next day the farmer asked his wife to help him
discover where the pie at the edge of the pasture came from, because it was not
immediately observed that the cow had left the pie and looking beyond the situation
would imply the intelligibility of being it would just remain a mystery that their cow
had left a pie. Thus, any attempt at problem solving would presuppose the
acceptance of intelligibility of being. Clarke further notes that one cannot simply
survive in denial of the intelligibility of being and that our entire existence depends
on our right to solve problems and expand our mind and make connections, rather
than base ourselves on empirical observations. He also offers that nature is willing
Failure In Roman Architecture
The Romans were recognized and renowned for their engineering accomplishments,
having pioneered engineering materials and structures, some standing till date.
Despite these achievements, they have been accused of failing in aesthetics. I believe
terming Roman architecture as failure aesthetically is extreme due to their pragmatic
nature and practical approach, evident from the aqueducts, the amphitheatre and
Roman temples.
The Romans constructed aqueducts to transport water from different sources into
metropolitan areas. According to Anderson (2012), the primary purpose of the
aqueducts was to transport water from valleys into town. The bridges and viaducts
on aqueducts were necessary for aqueducts to support the water flow, instead of
architectural glories to be admired. Anderson felt the Pont du Gard was a mixed
piece of architecture from the Romans. They stayed organized by listing the soft
yellow limestone bricks ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They built several amphitheatres mostly homogeneous, varying in size namely
Pompeii, Arles and NГ®mes. According to Ulrich (2014), the materials used to build
amphitheatres, concrete, or opus reticulatum, was evidence that they were significant
in the Roman Empire. Buildings made of concrete in the Roman Empire were
politically and ideologically motivated, establishing the significance and prestige
amphitheatres held. Experienced teams were sent out of central Italy to construct
amphitheatres outside the capital. A Roman hierarchical seating system designed for
the platform seating arena, or cavea, was incorporated into the amphitheatres. In
terms of size and extravagance, none could be compared to the majestic Flavian
amphitheatre, more commonly known as the Colosseum. The exterior design of the
Colosseum was in Doric, Ionic and Corinthian order surrounding the façade of the
amphitheatre, a lavish stadium created by the Romans to showcase their power,
wealth and talents on the grandest

ABSTRACT
The small car market in India is soon going to be one of the biggest in the world, as
major automakers are investing here in this segment. There is Tata Nanoready to be
launched and many others who are eyeing the Indian consumers to keep up their
global sales figures.
There is increasing competition with the entry of many new foreign as well as
Indian players in the market. The war has begun and the fate of these firms will be ...

Super Frog Saves Tokyo Essay
Japanese is a very wonderful place that offers a lot of tourist spots which will give
you doubt if you will stay there or leave. This has something to do with the story that
we will discuss to you.
The short story entitled Super Frog saves Tokyo is a postmodern type of story with
fiction theme. This is because of the wild imagination of the character which is the
result of his busy life in Tokyo. The characters in the story are Mr. Katagiri and the
Frog which are the protagonist or the main characters in the story. They don t
change and are both good and bad or simply belongs to the Flat classification of
characters. The story happened on February 17 and 18, 1995 at Tokyo where busy
people lives. The narrator in the story is an Observer narrator. ... Show more content

Katagiri for a very long time and saw how courageous man he is for being a
hardworking man for raising his siblings due to their parent s death. But Mr.
Katagiri refused to fight with the worm because according to him, he is not strong.
But frog told him that he needs to defeat the worm to save the life of the people in
Tokyo. Soon, Mr. Katagiri accepted the mission and the frog assured the man to
give everything that he needs on the fight with the worm. The frog even said that
he will handle the whole situation. The next day, the man received a phone call
saying that the company will pay them and promised not to send a frog anymore.
Then they went to the bank and Mr. Katagiri felt ashamed for the people but the
frog said that only Mr. Katagiri can see him they got the money. Mr. Katagiri asked
the frog if he can escape on the last minute of the fight because he was so scared
but the frog refused to his request again and cheered up Mr. Katagiri with his fight
with the worm. He said that he will support him and trust him no matter so Mr.
Katagiri fought with the worm. But unfortunately, Mr. Katagiri was shot. And when
he wakes, he is already at the hospital. And asked the nurse about the date and if he

why and how he was brought to the hospital. The nurse answered somebody found

Compare and contrast cognitive and behavioral approaches, providing two similarities

approaches to behavioral approaches in psychology I have found that the cognitive
approach revolves around the concept of understanding. Meaning why people act in a

mind work. From my readings cognitive psychology specialized branch involves the
study of mental process people use daily such as thinking, perceiving, remembering

So, OK. We aren t exactly two of a kind. Sometimes it shows. Many a long day

I m trying to be a little funny. Actually, I m avoiding the part that s hard for me: the
part where I tell you why you are my role model. The part where I tell you why I

Telling you this presents a problem. You re the touchy feely one. How am I going

his favorite film by faithfully recreating moments and cues within a creative context.

Alcoholic Beverages an introduction
Alcoholic beverages have been around for thousands of years, some Stone Age beer
jugs show that fermented beverages were being produced as early as 10,000
B.C.[Hanson, David J. 1997]. In the past beer was used as a substitute to drinking
water, it was considered safer due to the unsanitary ways that water was delivered,
as the process boiled off any bacteria [Cahill, Mero M. There are many different
types of alcoholic beverages on the market, these are classified into the following
groups beer, wine and spirits (Alcoholic Beverages).
Beer According to [Motarjemi, Yasmine Moy, Gerald Todd, Ewen. 2014] beers are
alcoholic beverages brewed from germinated barley (malt), hops, yeast and water. It
is also stated that beer can be dated back to 9500BC, making it one of the worlds
oldest prepared beverages.

Earth Day Is An Annual Events That Happen
Earth Day is an annual events that happen on April 22th in every year. It is a mark in
the history, also the environment field. On April 22th, 1970, it woke everyone that
human need to protect the environment they are living today (The History of Earth
Day | Earth Day Network). This brought the caution to people that we need to aware
the environmental concerns from now. The EarthDay can bring more knowledge and
information to educate people. It also reminds people years and years that we need
to do everything and protect the world we only have before it is too late.
Forty six years later, there are more and more countries, organizations, schools and
others institutions join activities which help protect the environment. For instance,
cut the electricity for an hour, planets more trees, and build up protect areas. The
government also release many laws to enforce the protection such as Clean Water Act
and Clean Air Act.
One case I heard before, in 2007, HSBC set up a Green Bank for the company. The

What Role Does Perception Play In Critical Thinking
Perception is the organisation, identification and interpretation of sensory
information in order to represent and understand the environment. Like
perception, logic plays a role in critical thinking. Critical thinking is the process in
which one mentally explores deeper than the superficial matters at hand into the
deeper layers in order to find out what the real issues are. However, when it comes
to weighing their beneficial impact on the critical thinking process, logic and
perception are by no means equal. While logic is firmly rooted in reason,
perceptions are just as firmly rooted in one s senses and can easily be corrupted.
Many kinds of faulty logic or perception interfere with our ability to think critically,
for example, superstition, argument from ignorance, false analogies, irrelevant
comparison and fallacies. Therefore, I believe that perception is certainly not reality
and most mistakes in thinking are inadequacies of perception rather than mistakes of
logics. Perception is defined as the ability to see, hear or becomes aware of
something through the senses (Nature of Logic and Perception). However, since the
senses are susceptible to personal interpretation, they are therefore potentially
unreliable sources of data. If one is able of rationally thinking through the information
that they perceive, then they are more likely to make accurate assumptions. However,
if one is highly emotive, they may not be able to separate the emotion from the data
they perceive,
Chin A Country Of Tremendous Importance Essay
History of China is a long and complex. China is a country of tremendous
importance. From the origins of the Chinese Empire, all the way to the present day,
China has been one of the most innovative, influential, and powerful countries in the
world. China in particular has an incredibly rich and unique historical heritage and
history. Like many other ancient societies Chinese society began along a river, was
based on agriculture, and developed trade networks and large cities.
China s geography is quite interesting, the textbook refers to it as a study in
contrast. The west and southwest are mountainous and bleak. The north is arid
and barren, dominated by the Gobi abd Mongolian Plateau. Despite these harsh
and uninviting regions. This did not prevent connections with other cultures.
Eastern China is defined by two major rivers. In the South is the Yangzi river,
because of the positive traits of the Yangzi river the terrain is lush, ideal for
farming. In the North however, is the yellow river, the brownish yellow silt is
responsible for both its name and color. The yellow river is shallow and flows
through flat plains, with frequent floods, naturally harsh and cold. However, the
brownish yellow soil deposited on surrounding lands by periodic floods, the rich silt
restores the soils fertility. Farming came early to this area, as early as 7000 B.C.E, a
necessity to sustain the growing population, in addition because the yellow rivers

The Music of Claude Debussy
When one thinks of impressionistic composers, it is only natural for Claude Debussy
to be part of the subject. However, it is rare that impressionism and classical form are
mentioned within the same breath. For that reason, it is necessary to remind oneself
that the free flowing music of the contemporary only exists by standing on the
shoulders of the rigidly methodical music that came before it. Claude Debussy s First
Violin Sonata exemplifies this beautifully. Though the harmonic language is that of
parallelisms and unstable key centers, motivically, the piece is balanced around the
same Sonata Principal that governed Debussy s forefathers, going back to Beethoven
and Haydn.
Claude Debussy s First Violin Sonata was completed in 1917, in the year before
Debussy s passing. These three fiery movements represent some of the more
aggressive music that Debussy has written, rather than the more mellow Preludes he
is commonly known for. The harmonic vocabulary of Debussy would quickly make
one realize that instead of gleaming the Sonata Principal out of the relationship
between I and V, Debussy would do that with the relationship between sonorities that
are unstable and even less stable.
The piece is in Sonata form, with a complete Exposition, Development, and modified
Recapitulation. However, the key areas don t reflect that the way the listener might
expect. Being that the vast majority of this piece is in G, it is musical material other
than key areas that one must use in order
Compare And Contrast Federalists And Democratic
Republicans
Federalists versus Democratic Republicans
A political party is defined as an organized group of people with roughly similar
political views, that seeks to influence the public by getting its candidates elected to
public office. During George Washington s first term, there were no publicly accepted
political parties. During Washington s second term, two parties emerged. The
Federalists and Democratic Republicans are similar by being the first political parties
to emerge and are different through their stances on government power, the economy,
and foreign affairs, which all affected their group of supporters.
The Federalists and Democratic Republicans are similar by being the first political
parties to emerge. In 1797, George Washingtonstepped down from the presidency
after two successful terms in office. Prior to this, towards the end of his last term,
he wrote his farewell address which contained his advice to whatever comes after
him. He warns the people that the emergence of political parties fighting to control
the nation would cause divisive factions. While different groups existed while
George Washington was president, he was the glue that kept the people together. But
once he stepped down from office, two main political parties emerged and began
competing for control of the presidency, Congress, and the states. These two political
parties were the Federalists and the Democratic Republicans. The two had opposing
views on nearly every policy, but both began at the same
A Brief Note On The Supply Chain Management
Introduction Technology in Supply Chain Management Till not to long ago the
area of Supply Chain management was seen as a task that took place in the
background without any dedicated resources. Majority of the people thought it
was only used by large brands that have an international distribution need. When
there was an issue in the supply chain, people were pulled from their existing jobs
to fix the issue. Once the problem was solved, the people would go back to their
original tasks. There was a lack of patience, demand and awareness amongst the
customers back in the day, as online ordering and tracking were processes that they

It became obvious that observing the route of goods using pins on a map would no
longer make the cut. Technology has crept into SCM slowly, starting with
electronic invoicing, computerized shipping and tracking as well as automated

Initially intended for business to business interactions, it took time before that
level of tracking and accountability was provided to consumers. But it became quite
clear that notifying everyone along the chain has become increasingly important.
It was only when companies like Zappos which positioned itself to be customer
friendly, by creating a tagline Powered by Service, came into limelight that clients
got a flavor of how they have a huge role to play in purchases. Zappos as on online
company, did not start with brick and mortar stores, so instead of adapting to new

The Past Affects the Present Essay
A traumatic past can shape a person s overall view on the world. Many times, the
memories of the past negatively affect the person. In the book The Catcher in the
Rye by J.D. Salinger, the author develops Holden s cynical attitude by connecting
him to painful memories and events such as Allie s death, losing touch with Jane,
and losing his trust in adulthood. Holden deals with his younger brother Allie s
death with both negative and positive memories. For instance, when Holden is
writing Stradlater s report for him, he chooses the main topic on Allie s baseball
mitt and even goes on about what a good person Allie was. My brother Allie had this

felt a rare connection and trust towards Jane. He remembers good memories with
her to help ease the pain of losing her. Consequently, his pain catches up to him
when Stradlater and Jane go on a date. If you didn t go to New York, where d ya go
with her? I asked him, after a little while. I could hardly keep my voice from
shaking all over the place. Boy was I getting nervous. I just had a feeling
something had gone funny (55). All the pain Holden has kept within seems to
burst out. He starts to feel nervous and jealous and this contributes to his negative
attitude. We see here that Holden truly cares for Jane and this hints that he has
feelings for her. He is in a lot of pain due to losing his close friendship with Jane.
Holden feels repentant yet reminiscent of the memories he once had with Jane.
Holden handles his belief that adulthood is sardonic rather childish yet adultlike.
For instance, when Holden is out with Sally he acts immature about the phonies
around him. At the end of the first act we went out with all the other jerks for a
cigarette. What a deal that was. You never saw so many phonies in your life,
everybody smoking their ears off and talking about the play so that everybody could
hear and know how sharp they were (164). Holden thinks
Omnipresence Of Technology Among Adolescents
Adolescents are currently in an era where the ubiquity of technology has made it
easier to connect to other from all regions of the globe. The innovation of
technology does not come without its issues. The current problem is how
adolescents have turned to using technology to communicate and sacrificing face to
face social skills. Studies have found that the ownership and access to devices
among adolescents are on the rise (Jonsson et al., 2014; Lenhart et al., 2010;
Lenhart et al., 2007; Lenhart, 2015; Madden et al., 2013; Mander, 2015; Mander
McGrath,2014). Additionally, the results of device ownership and access have also
lead to an increase in electronic consumption, where 92% of teens report going online
daily (Lenhart, 2015).

Despite the positive ways in which technology could be used in order to teach and
learn vast amounts information, an epidemic of technology dependent children is
occurring (Lenhart, Teen, Social Media Technology Overview 2015, 2015). This
problem has negatively influenced the way adolescents have been conditioned to
interact and communicate in the virtual world versus the physical world (Lenhart,
Teen, Social Media Technology Overview 2015, 2015). Given the circumstances of
continuous use of various devices, adolescents are steadily connecting to technology
and becoming more disconnected from physical, human connections (Farber et al.,
Standard Picture Encryption And Decryption
Yong Feng et al, in 2009,the author proposed a new invertible two dimensional chart,
shouted Line chart, for picture encryption and decryption. It charts a picture to an
array of pixels and next, charts it back from the array to alike sized image. A Line
chart consists of two submaps: the left Line chart and the right Line chart that are
utilized for picture encryption and decryption. In order to vanquish the shortcoming
of standard picture encryption ways established on two dimensional (2 D) charts that
can be utilized merely for permutation, this paper presents a novel picture encryption
way established on the Line charts, that can present two procedures of picture
encryption simultaneously, permutation and substitution, employing the alike maps.
The counseled picture encryption does not have data loss. Supplementary gains

How important has nationalism been in shaping our modern world? Do you believe
that the appeal of nationalism will diminish in the future?
Nationalism has been extremely important and influential in shaping the modern
world we see today, causing revolutions, rebellions and the constant reshaping of
world maps continuing even today. Its appeal is something that I don t believe will
diminish in the future. Many theologians and political commentators alike agree that
Nationalism has perhaps been one of the most prominent political ideologies of the
modern world No single political doctrine has played a more prominent role in
shaping the face of the modern world than nationalism 1, and doesn t look like

Modernist philosophers agree that modernism is only possible in a developed
industrial society, where a strong economy provides a strong backbone for the nation
s development, there is a presence of a centralized authority and the nation is
connected through a single common language in which everyone can communicate
with each other4. Although not known as a nationalist, the father of communism
Karl Marx described nationalism has being the transformation from feudalism to
capitalism, and saw nationalism as nothing more than a trend which would soon
pass5. However this was not the case, the industrial revolution stirred up patriotic
sentiments throughout Europe, especially Germany, France and Great Britain,
which lead to an arms race powered by industry, this played a major role in the lead
up into WWI. Modernism continues to shape the modern world even today, a form
of modernism much like the one seen during the industrial revolution can be seen in
places such as India and China, who are currently experiencing their own version of
the industrial revolution. It can also be seen in the middle east where political
movements such as the Muslim brotherhood have stepped into power in places such
as Egypt after a revolt against the former dictator President Mubarak in 2011, which

According to Frederick et al. climate change is: A change in the state of the climate
that can be identified by changes in the mean and/or variability of its properties, and
that persists for an extended period, typically decades or longer (Frederick, O
Connor Kuratko, 2013, p. 65). Climate change is one topic with relevance for
sustainability. Ecotourism is one of many activities that suffer from the consequences
of climate change. And ecosystems such as coralreefs and freshwater coastlands are
truly exposed to climate change (Frederick et al, 2013, p. 66). Adjustments in the
sea level like rising tides and temperature variations have been implicated in the death
of coral reefs in GBR (Weaver, 2008, p. 204).

This technique is used to layer foreground and background images based on color
hues or the chroma range. The CGI technician layers the computer modelling
around the actor. Programs such as PhotoKey 6 Pro make it possible to render the
images seemlessly. Being a CGI technician requires computer knowledge and takes
hours to edit and add in the actors into the computer generated world. An example
of a seemless CGI movie is Avatar which cost $425,000,000 to make but grossed
$2.7 Billion worldwide (www.the numbers.com/movie/budgets/). For every 1/24
of a second or one frame of film it took 47 hours of rendering (www.imdb.com/title

area of CGI. A Pyrotechnician must be certified by the state that they work in and

It helps you grow and improve all throughout your career. Getting feedback,
whether it s from your employer/supervisor, a college or someone under your

have missed or have overlooked. After all, we re only human and humans make
mistakes. Because of this, it s important to go about getting feedback from others
the right way. Walking up to a co worker and asking their opinion on your

personally and give you false information about your working capacity, they might
lie to you to avoid hurting your feelings or it could erupt into an argument and

recipients to conduct their feedback. An easy example is to have a general
feedback day or meeting for the entire work force or work group, where everyone
comes together and gives each other constructive criticism in a relaxed and
friendly demeanor. Hosting a one on one, private feedback meetings is another
good idea that allows for a greater analysis of your competency. BY talking to each
person individually, you reduces any stress or anxiety the person may have and
gives them the confidence to speak their mind clearly. It s important to mention
that you take in all the feedback presented to you, positive and negative. It s never
easy to take negative feedback, but both are required for you to truly improve, so it

to give the individual some feedback yourself, try putting any negative feedback you

A Thousand Acres as Movie is Melodramatic and Bogus
Perhaps Jane Smiley s Pulitzer Prize winning novel A Thousand Acres was a bit
over rated. For one thing, the book s dark secret seemed utterly implausible. I just
didn t believe that the book s protagonist and narrator, a 37 year old Iowa farm wife
named Ginny, could have completely repressed the fact that her father had sex with
her when she was 15 years old, night after night, for a year. For True Believers in
Repressed Memory Syndrome, this might sound like gospel: I found it melodramatic
and bogus. Furthermore, the sensitive unto death narrative voice was dissonant and
grating: Ginny came across as too intelligent and self aware to be as clueless and
numb as she ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Above all, they play it too safe. Perhaps if they had added new material, approached
Smiley s story from different directions, they could have made a film that would have
been truer to the spirit, if not the letter, of her book. Ploddingly literal, A Thousand
Acres is basically a star vehicle that relies on superior acting to redeem it. It does
have superior acting, but that s not nearly enough.
The story involves a tyrannical old patriarch, Larry Cook (Jason Robards, whose
skills are not really utilized), who, apparently forgetting the unpleasant fate that
befell Lear, decides to give his farm away to his three daughters Ginny (Jessica
Lange), Rose (Michelle Pfeiffer) and Caroline (Jennifer Jason Leigh). Larry Lear;
Ginny Goneril; Rose Regan; Caroline Cordelia. Get it? But Smiley turns that
phallocentric old fable on its politically incorrect head: Instead of being hounded to
madness and despair by evil children, this patriarch is the evil one, a rigid,
remorseless old man who, we learn, seduced not just Ginny but Rose, too. And he
doesn t need to be driven to madness: He goes pretty much off the deep end, for
reasons that are never explained, right after he gives away his property.
Ginny and Rose, like their horrific Shakespearean namesakes,
International Organizations And Collective Security
The United Nations has worked to maintain peace and stability in the global
community, but has experienced numerous failures in establishing a system of
collective security. The purpose of this paper is to analyze why international
organizations, such as the UN have been ineffective in achieving their goal of
establishing a system of economic, political, and social stability via a collective
security system. First, a brief discussion of the history of the UN and collective
security is provided. Second, a discussion about the ineffectiveness of the UN is
provided. Third, a discussion of the issues facing the global community is provided.
Lastly, a discussion of how the issues of collective security will impact economic
development in less developed countries.
The United Nations was established on the idea of creating a system that used
collective security. Collective security is a state of interdependence that prevents
one nation state from imposing on the rights of another without consequences on a
global political, economic, and social scale. In recent years, the UN has
acknowledged an increasing need for a system on the basis of developing a system
that would protect the sovereign rights of the states. Collective security is a principle
ideology that catalyzed after WWII. After WWII, world leaders saw the need to
develop a system that would prevent any other major war or conflict. After the First
World War, The League of Nations (1920), an intergovernmental organization
Abraham Lincoln s Argumentative Analysis
Standing in the murmuring crowd, a person listens to Stephen Douglas and Abraham
Lincoln debate over the nation wide issue, slavery. Stephen Douglas, Illinois senator,
had a tenacious belief in popular sovereignty (Dudley 154). Popular Sovereignty is
the right given to the settlers to make the decision of legalizing slaveryin their state or
territory (Dudley 154). Abraham Lincoln, an unknown lawyer, rebuked the idea of
popular sovereignty (Dudley 154). A house divided against itself cannot stand... It
will become all one thing, or all the other. (Dudley 156). These spoken words of Mr.
Lincoln manifested his belief towards federal rights (Dudley 156). Federal rights are

Douglas and Mr. Lincoln brought forth the issue of popular sovereignty versus
federal rights (Dudley 154). Mr. Douglas explained why popular sovereignty is the
best choice (Dudley 155). Mr. Lincoln s argument stated that a nation will not survive
divided into two (Dudley 155). Mr. Douglas informed that the Founding Fathers
comprehended that each state had a better understanding of their own conflicting
necessities (Dudley 155). Each state is different (Dudley 155). Southern states are
more agricultural based than northern states (Dudley 155). Some states would acquire
profit when owning slaves, while others would be at a loss (Dudley 156). The
Founding Fathers knew this (Dudley 155). To be able to control and to know what is
happening to the southern states while being in the northern states, would be
impossible (Dudley 155). It would take weeks to receive information from the
southern states; consequently, by the time the needed information reaches to receiver,
the issue would have already passed or had become worse (Dudley 155). Furthermore,
certain laws will negatively affect some states while aiding others (Dudley 155). In an
addition to, the Founding Fathers had white American citizens in mind, while
creating the Constitution; thus, the Constitution does not imply to foreigners
(Dudley 156). During this time in history, slaves were not considered United States
citizens; however, states should be able to control the limit of a slave s rights
(Dudley 156). Giving the power to decide the resections of the slaves rights, allowed
the states to obtain the control over slaves (Dudley
Racial Prejudice and Bias Against Hispanics Essay
Racial Prejudice and Bias Against Hispanics
At some point in life, every individual has been treated like an outsider. It occurs
often with children or teenagers. However, one can still be regarded with this
attitude as an adult. Furthermore, an entire group can feel as if they are being treated
as an outsider, and sadly enough, it does happen regularly. One author, David
Hernandez, spoke about these occurrences through his poem Pigeons. With his poem,
Hernandez argues that
Hispanics are never treated or viewed as insiders, but always as outsiders. Sadly
enough,
I would have to agree with Hernandez s argument, for in his poem he concludes that
Hispanics are viewed as weird because of their culture, are deprived by ... Show more

Another argument that Hernandez brings up in his poem is that pigeons, or
Hispanics, are deprived by society. The author explains the deprivation by bluntly
saying, [n]obody wants to give pigeons a job[;] / [p]arakeets, canaries, and parrots
/ have the market sewn up as far as that goes (Hernandez 1023). This is a very true
statement.
Even though Hispanics can be seen working at jobs, these jobs are frequently
minimum wage for pay in which they cannot advance to higher positions. It is rare to
see a
Hispanic person working in an office in which blacks and whites are the dominant
customers or employees. Also, this act of depriving is done within the school system.
Often times a child with a Hispanic background is not given the opportunity to rise
to his or her level of learning. They are often kept back and placed in lower level
classes. As the author of Pigeons so clearly argues, Hispanics are not given as many
opportunities to succeed by American society.
Hernandez makes another clear argument statement with his poem Pigeons. He
makes the point that his ethnic group is not accepted by many Americans. He asks a
simple but strong question within his poem: When was the last time you saw a
pigeon in someone s home? (Hernandez 1023). Hispanics are not usually welcomed
in the homes of whites or blacks for the main fact
Unit 2 Scene 1 Preliminary Investigation
Scene One: Preliminary Investigation Secure Scene and Assist Victim Due the
victim being dead, the first step I would take in this case is a perimeter search. I
would probably secure a larger area than I need because I can always shrink the
perimeter once I begin processing. The second step I would do is once I found the
perimeter, I would secure that boundary. And add police officers in various sides
on the outside of the perimeter to help keep people away and sabotaging any
evidence. In my head, I would do a walk though of the scene to determine the
possible strategy or motive. Preliminary Interview Focus The first people I would
question would be the group that discovered the body. I would interview them
separate and keep them separate, to get the most accurate statements. I would either
keep them in separate rooms, or keep them far away from one another in which they
cannot hear each other and get influenced on what to say. I... Show more content on

Which means that they weren t very careful, and or didn t know what they were
doing. I say this because whoever the perpetrator is was not very careful of what
he was doing or leaving behind. For example, The uniform officers discovered a
cell phone and set of keys in some deep grass about 10 yards from the body. The
keys have trace blood and a strand of black hairs clinging to them. It seems like
they were in rush to dump the body and leave or were afraid and wants to rush off
the scene. Despite whatever the case maybe I believe there were two perpetrators
because there is no sign of struggle or dragging of the victim which mean she was
carried and placed. The two sets of footprint also give me a general state of mind
that my theory might be right. The killer had his fun play before killing the victim, I
believe that there was some type of assault. The gun shot had partially blackened
residue which leads me to believe that it was a close range gunshot
The Impact Of The American Dream In The Great Gatsby
The American dream is the idea that socioeconomic class mobility is possible; a
person with nothing could rise and become someone great. Few Americans, like
the character of Jay Gatsby in F. Scott Fitzgerald s novel The Great Gatsby, will
fulfill this dream. But, average Americans, like the character of George Wilson,
will remain in their parents class for the entirety of their lives. Class mobility is an
integral facet of the American dream, and while possible, it is not often achieved.
Only a select few super achievers can attain the rags to riches, American dream of
an ascent to wealth and power, but the majority of Americans will live their lives
perpetually stuck in the class that they were born into. Americans have been taught
that they can climb the economic ladder if they work hard enough, and just as they
can climb it, they can fall right back down, but that is not the case. In reality, there is
far less mobility up and down the economic ladder than economists once thought or
than most Americans believe ( Class and the American Dream ). Of course, there are
the stories of those who have reached affluence, like Bill Clinton or Bill Gates, that
come from humble beginnings, and that can cloud reality for many Americans. But
beneath this veneer of super achievers, recent scholarship shows, many Americans
find themselves mired in the same place as their parents ( Class and the American
Dream ). Now, the odds are that Americans will remain stuck within their
Dog Is Man s Best Friend
Dog is Man s Best Friend The image that I chose was a photograph taken by a
woman named Elena Shunilova. The photo was taken of her child and their family
dog. To me, this image is beautiful. In the center, there is a young boy kneeling
down next to a very large dog. It appears to be just transition to winter from autumn.
The ground is still brown but snow is faintly falling around the boy and dog. The
young boy is wearing a navy blue snow outfit with tan fur accents around the hood
and in a ball on top of his hat. His eyes are closed as he is embracing the large dog
sitting next to him. It seems to be cold out based on his rosy red cheeks against his
very pale skin. The dog stands tall and appears to be older than the boy by the
matting in the cream colored fur on his chest. He is black around the jowls as well
as his eyes and ears. If the boy were to stand tall next to him, he would barely be
taller. The dog s eyes are also closed and his front legs are in a wide stance. The
bottom and top of the image are slightly blurred, and very dull in color. It appears
to be a very cloudy day. The image itself as well as the setting is enough to raise
curiosity in the story behind this photograph. There are some aspects of this image
that really stood out to me. Typically, when you introduce children to large dogs, or
really any animals, they are terrified and do not want to be around them. I can only
imagine walking up to an animal that stands taller than you; I would be

It is the minimum return a company needs to earn in order to satisfy its investor base
(as weighted for the amount of debt vs. equity in the target/capital structure), which is
what the company must pay investors to raise new financing to support new projects
or ventures. WACC is particularly useful here because Yeats has no debt, thus, it is an
equity financed company. In the case of Yeats, the company must have capital to
continue to develop and market its new Widening Gyre Program.
The formula for WACC = Re (E/V) + Rd (D/V)(1 t)
However, because Yeats does not have debt, the second half of this formula, Rd(D
/V)(1 t) is not necessary. Being that Yeats has zero debt, the value of its equity is in
full, which represents its Enterprise Value. Tax (t) is determined in the case as 40%
or .40 (p. 5).
We must then calculate the CAPM for the cost of equity (see Excel sheet for details):
Re = Rf + Beta (Rm Rf)
Re = Required Return on Equity
Rf = Risk Free Rate = 5.98 (p. 16)
Beta = Measure of Risk relative to the general market (volatility) = 1.5 (p. 5)
Rm Rf = Equity Market Risk Premium (EMRP) = 5.5 (p. 16)
Rm = Market Risk
Rf = Risk Free Assets (U.S. treasury security)
With Beta at 1, the stock price changes in precise tandem with the market, but with
Yeat s beta at 1.5, it is more risky than a group of peer stocks.
Thus,
Re = Rf + Beta (Rm Rf)
Re = 5.98 + 1.5 x 5.5
Re = 14.23%, the cost of equity at for Yeats

The Role Of Environmental Education In Iran
The third phase of environmental education in Iran was from the years 1997 2005.
This phase is also called Reformation Period and was marked by sustainable
development principle[s] [being] integrated with development policy, (Shobeiri et al.,

The Fourth Phase The fourth phase started in 2006 to today. Inspired by the UN s
Education for Sustainable Development, Iran developed a framework for
environmental education, which was compatible with Iranian cultural and social
[norms], (Shobeiri et al., 2014). They wanted to fulfill the following goals: provide
structure EE, give specialized training, create a master plan for EE, and the
establishment of EE Headquarters in Tehran. Some of these programs have been
more implemented than others. Due to this, the fourth phase is not as clearly defined
as the other three. The next few sections will be looking at how well they have
achieved some of their goals so far. Specialized training for environmental education
seems to have fallen by the wayside. Studies have shown that there is a shortage of
teachers who lack knowledge about environmental problems and issues. Thus, there
needs to be more effort put into updating teacher qualifications and classroom
materials (Karmizadegan and Meiboudi, 2012: Hederi, F. Heidari, M., 2015). For
instance, goals, questions, and assignments in Iranian textbooks have not changed
since 2000, (Karmizadegan and Meiboudi, 2012). By not updating these concerns,
efforts to increase training and knowledge in environmental education would slow
down tremendously. While the basic structure of environmental education will remain
the same,

Brett Favre s Role In American Football
Today, it can be difficult to find celebrities that are portrayed as good and bad,
because most of them are seen as either good or bad, and not both. The media does
a very good job at hiding things from the public so that celebrities come across as
one or the other. However, Brett Favre is a great example of both. He shows many
good, moral traits, but also shows bad, immoral traits at times. Widely recognized
for how long he played, Brett Favre played in the NFL for twenty years. Brett gave
his everything every time he stepped on the field. He spent years perfecting his
skills and developing a great work ethic. Most peopleremember him as a hardworking
individual that played for many different teams around the NFL and shot many

While driving around a sharp turn near his parents house, he lost control of the car
and severely damaged himself and the car. The car violently flipped a few times
and took rest against a tree. On the way to the hospital Brett wanted to know if he
would play again. After six weeks of surgery and recovery Brett returned to
Southern Miss and led the team to a comeback victory in the latter part of the
game. Crowds and coaches were amazed by what some were calling a miracle win
by Brett Favre. Despite being in an almost fatal car crash, Brett made a return and
acted like the wreck never happened. Not everyone has the ability to get over being
in a tragic event like that, but he knew what he wanted and he worked hard to get a
good and swift recovery. Brett was an outstanding player and never looked back on
things that already happened and always kept looking ahead and focused how
things would improve. Traits like these are something everyone needs in life. Brett
showed how gratifying working hard and dedication can be. He also shows how
imperative it can be to always get back on your feet and work through any obstacle

Narrative About Today Is The Day Of Thanksgiving
11/26
Today is the day of thanksgiving. We did not celebrate Thanksgiving in China, but
I still want to thank something. I am truly grateful that I did not need to experience
any warfare in my childhood. I did not need to worry about hunger and drought in
my life despite that some time the weather were terrible. Compared with Ishmael s
childhood, mine was perfect and have no flaw to be pick and complain about. I
hope that children like him could escape from wars, and they could go to school
enjoying their childhood with their peers. Back to the book, Ishmael was 15 years
old. Because of the war, he celebrated his birthday with his squad talking about
Nacbac with drugs. His family was gone. Yet the turning point of his life came
without notice. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the Lieutenant said, work is done and they needed to send back to school.
He was anxious when his gun was took away from him. I guessed the gun meant
the sense of secure. During their trip to Freetown, he and his friend wanted to

There wasn t any rule in their mind. When they found out there were kids from the

who showed up in front of them. They stabbed, slicked, and even plucked a boy s

The moral line in their mind was completely deformed by the war. The effect of the

Comparison Of The Dictatorship Of Big Brother And The...
The dictatorship of Big Brother and the American government, both use similar ways
to monitor their citizens, but they have different reasons for it. Big Brother wants to
closely monitor his citizens so they are obedient by fear and the American
government watches their citizens to protect them and their rights. They do this
through televisions, spies and surveillancecameras. In the beginning of the novel
1984, the reader is introduced to how the governmentunder the dictatorship of Big
Brother is administrated as well as how it runs its citizens. Not only are the people of
Oceania suppressed, but they are also audited through whatever means deemed
necessary by the government. They are even watched through their televisions.
Because of this the main character, Winston Smith, placed his television on a wall in
his house so Winston was able to remain outside the range of the telescreen, so far as
sight went. This is where Winston writes his qualms with the government down in a
diary. Furthermore, the CIA, has been said to have the capacity to break into our
everyday consumer electronics.... The USA Today article goes into further detail by
stating that, CIA hackers could break into iPhones, Android phones, PCs running
Microsoft Windows and Samsung smart TVs, and exploit the microphones inside
such electronics, (TVs are allegedly spying on you, Baig). It has been argued that
this is a violation of privacy, but others state that it is merely for protection. In

Communication Project Management Plan And
Communication Plan
Communication is one of the most complicated aspects of project management. There
are an infinite number of projects that has failed due to communication within the
project team and the project stakeholders. Communication plan, and stakeholder
management plan are one of the most important parts of project management. These
two plans are the key for the project to complete successfully. There have been many
organizations that do not implement or the stakeholder management plan and
communication plan for their project. During the project life cycle, there are various
departments such as information technology department (IT), human resources
department, procurement, finance, etc. that are part of the same projects. In fact,
sometimes there are also external organizations working on with the organization that
has a contract to complete the project. Therefore, important to establish a proper
communication plan, as well as stakeholder identification plan in order to complete
projects successfully. Not implementing or following these plans can create many
misunderstanding, confusions, or misinterpretation of data within the various teams
involved in the project. A study noted in InformationWeek showed that 30 40 percent
of IT managers complain about communications related data and information:
receiving too much, no one sharing, and trying to decide what is current or has been
previously received (Kliem, 2008).

Reflective Essay On Social Work
As a senior, I thought this was the perfect time to get an in depth look at a career
field that I was considering. The main reason I decided to take a career internship
was to be exposed to a side of business that I had not been previously and to see if it
is something I may want to pursue. The spring semester included interning at the
Yadkin Valley Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber
of Commerce is located on East
Market Street in Elkin, North Carolina. The timeof the internship period was mid day
from 11:30 A.M to 1:00 P.M. This time frame allowed me to be exposed to many
lunch meetings that took place. My mentor, Myra Cook, is the president of the
Chamber of Commerce. Her role is to help businesses succeed and to promote them
to the town of Elkin. At the Yadkin Valley Chamber of Commerce, many valuable
skills were learned such as: filing, how to make contacts with different businesses,
and planning different community events. In the future, I want to major in non profit
management and social work with hopes of opening my own non profit someday.
My non profit organization would focus on teaching people who did not receive a
proper education learn job and interview skills and help them enter the workforce.
When first arriving at the Chamber of Commerce, the first thing that is done is filing
the new paperwork, bills, and receipts. Throughout the day, typical duties include
answering phone calls and helping travellers that come in to the chamber. These

Iran Imperialism
Maslow s law of the instrument states that if all you have is a hammer, everything
looks like a nail, but what if it works alongside a sickle? As a key player of the
Cold War (1947 1991), the United States (US) has had a dual role in the nuclear
proliferation of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Consequently, this conflict of
imperialism has had major implications for Iranian relations to the present day. Even
with the support of China, France, Russia, the United Kingdom (UK), and the
European Union (EU); Irans path towards peaceful nuclear energy still faces
opposition from the US. In summation, from the nativity of the Second Red Scare in
1947 to the present day, a mix of political and strategic interests has lead to the

The Negative Effects Of Smartphones And Social Media
In the world we live in today everyone is connected to one another through their
smartphones and social media, Although this has had positive effect on the world i
believe that the negative effects outweigh the positive effects. The extensive use
of smartphones and social media have made it harder for students to gather and
obtain information due to their dependence on technology to easily gather it for
them. Studies have shown that the increased use of social media and smartphone
have lead to mental health problem among teens. With everyone so worried about
their facebooks and instagrams they haven t been able to learn how to properly
socialize with other people. Smartphones and social media have negatively
affected students ability to obtain information, alter their emotional stability, and
negatively influence their social skills. Smartphones and social media have made
gathering information difficult for people in living in the world because they rely
on their smartphone and other technology to obtain the information the need for
them. This has affected people s ability to read and absorb information from long
articles or book where they actually have to take the time to read them. In his
article Is Google Making Us Stupid? Nicholas Carr argues that the use of
technology has made it harder for him to read books or other long articles stating
My mind would get caught up in the narrative or the turns of the argument, and i d
spend hours strolling through long stretches of prose. That s rarely the case
anymore. Now my concentration often starts to drift after two or three pages (Carr
314). This quote is talking about Nicholas Carr s inability to concentrate on long
piece of writing like he used to be able too. Carr blames this on his use of
technology stating I think i know what s going on. For more than a decade now, i ve
been spending alot of time online, searching and surfing and sometimes adding to the
great databases of the internet... Research that once required days in the stacks or
periodical rooms of libraries can now be done in minutes (Carr 314). Nicholas Carr
states this to put into perspective that technology is reducing the time and
concentration it takes to research information the one
Different Perspectives In Octavia Butler s Kindred
In Octavia Butler s Kindred, Dana and Kevin both experience many unbelievable
events that change their sense of reality. They each travel back to the antebellum
South for different amounts of time, gaining different insights from the same events.
Kevin, a white man, travels back to a time of privilege, while his wife Dana, a black
woman, travels back to a timeof hardship and enslavement. Their contrasting
perspectives cause them to see the world differently. For example, Kevin draws from
his sole point of view, while Dana uses her own perspective with other people s
perspectives. No matter when or where they are, Dana and Kevin determine the truth
through what see and what they already know.
Kevin and Dana first conflict when Dana returns to 1976 for the first time. Kevin
is in disbelief about where Dana went, as he suggests what she experienced was a
dream (17). He says this despite the fact that he saw Dana disappear and reappear,
something out of the ordinary. His perspective is different from Dana s, meaning
what he sees isn t always what actually happens. Dana goes back in time, while
Kevin saw Dana vanish and reappear (16). Despite not knowing what Dana
experienced, he still believes his point of view is a fact. Kevin insists Dana s
experience was a dream, and refers to his perspective as facts (16). By doing so, he
asserts his perspective, the white male perspective, is objective and truthful, while
Dana s is illegitimate. Kevin s view is similar to how the
The Odyssey, Books I
In reading the first four books of The Odyssey we see a lot of different struggles
going on but once we focus on Telemachus we begin to capture a more metal
picture of this main character. Odysseus s son, Telemachus has lost his father,
suitors are pursuing his mother, and he is learning how to grow up without the
legendary guidance of his great father. Telemachus appears to be a young, lost boy
who is trapped in a world that he has no control over. Feelings of being left behind
and not getting the recognition he so rightfully deserves to take over the throne,
Telemachus will set out on a journey to find the answers he needs.
In Book I, Athena, Zeus s daughter, seems to come to Telemachus rescue, in a sense.
She then sets off for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We learn that even though Telemachus is unsure of himself he would gladly take
on being King if Zeus would offer, I would happily be King.... A king will be
respected, and his house will flourish...(p. 13). With new found courage you are to
leave this hall and go feasting elsewhere. I beg Zeus you shall get what you
deserve... (p. 13).
In the next three books we see a new strength, guided by Athena, to bring honor
back to his home. We still sense his doubt and uncertainty but learns of greater
honor and respect for his father on this journey. I think this gives him a renewed
confidence that he should take on the role of King, only after proving he is worthy.
Athena continues to build home up, You will never be fainthearted or a fool... you
have your father s spirit (p. 27). We also get a greater sense of his feelings towards
his mother in Book II. I sense that he feels pity and sadness for her but also knows
she is being dishonored and respects her decisions when it comes to choosing a suitor
and will defend her rights, once again with guidance from Athena, If you should learn
your father alive...if dead...raise a mound for him...give your mother to another
husband.. And in defense to his mother can I banish against her will (p. 23).
In the remainder of these first 4 books Telemachus encounters other great men that

Changes Of The Youth Sector Over The Past 100 Years
There have been significant changes in the youth sector over the past 100 years that

The 1870 Education Act obliged local authorities to provide primary education for
all children aged 5 to 11. (http://www.20thcenturylondon.org.uk/children). In 1902,
The Education Act was updated and confirmed that the Local Education Authorities
also provided secondary schools; however the places available were limited and a
fee was charged so a few working class children attended. Some of the poorer

In 1907, Lord Robert Baden Powell brought in scouting originally for boys but in
1910 his sister Agnes started the Girl scouts also known as Girl guides. Lord
Robert Baden Powell was a British general during the Boer war of 1899 1900. It
was during the Boer war that Baden Powell wrote down a guide to Scouting.
Initially meant for military purposes, after the war he felt it could be used as a
focus for young boys to give them more meaning in life (Pettinger. T, 2009). This
lead to other non statutory services such as Cubs, Brownies, Rainbows etc. During
the first world war it was difficult to keep these services up and running with children
being evacuated out of the city and young people being signed up for military service;
but they did have an alternative. Churches across the countryside were training adults
and young people to run their own non statutory services such as scouts and the
YMCA (Young Men s Christian Association). Later in the twentieth century concerns
were raised about the number of young people not in membership of youth
organisation. This led to the first attempt to register all young people in 1941 (Byrne.
S, 2009). This was during the Second World War and just like the first, churches
across the countryside in Britain trained and hired adults for non statutory services. In
1960 the Albemarle report was introduced to evaluate the youth service and give
guidance on how to engage young people, to teach them the
Fashion Sexuality And Fashion Pornography

contemporary culture in today s society. The ever changing definition of sexualized
imagery has started from the 1970 s to contemporary culture.(___) In this research
paper we will look at the historical use of sexuality in fashion photographyand its role
that Tom Ford, Helmet Newton and Calvin Klein have played over the generations
within advertisements. An analysis of these advisements and its impact on society

By purchasing this suit you will have women doing everything for you. By the way
the female model is standing vs. the male model is standing; the female is

1950s artist Edward Steichen, who was known for his contributes to fashion
photography; his models would wear the gowns designed by the fashion designer
Paul Poiret and his style highlighted the model, using traditional portrait style and soft
lighting to give a sophisticated look revealing to his time. (___) In comparison you
can see that throughout history the expectations of photography have changed
drastically and the objectification of women has only gotten worse. In order to sell
products sex has been the most used subject and its still existing today.
Another designer that has directly influenced fashion photography in a more sexual
way is Helmet Newton. He was referred to the King of Kink , this influential fashion
photographer made his name by shooting models in noticeable, provocative black and
white images for vogue, (_____). Assuming he could get away with this imagery
because he was a well known artist, the nudes where argued to be artistic more then
objectifying. But in making a statement as such the expression of the women in his
photos speak another story. He captures the convincing, unclothed, white, big breasted
women in compromising locations in which the
Chinese Food Vs Ancient Chinese Food
Have you ever wondered what people ate a long, long, long time ago? Personally, I
have wondered this for a long time, but today I will tell you about them, and
compare and contrast them. Also, I will be showing you evidence to as why I think
ancient Chinese food is more advanced than ancient India food.
Ancient Chinese food was very healthy. They ate very little fish or meat, and they ate
a great quantity of vegetables. They sometimes ate duck, turtle, fish, eggs, and wild
game. Noodles and rice were very popular at the time. Rice was usually eaten on
festivals and anytime else. Rice dumplings were usually eaten at the initial full moon
in the new year, mostly so the people of China could make a wish on the dumplings.
Rice soon became very popular and was nearly eaten every single day. The noodles
were made out of wheat, and were very tasty and very thin. China came up with the
idea of tea. So, the rising of tea in China ongoingly and very swiftly grew. The time
period that it grew, was from the 4th to the 8th century. No longer was it only used
for medical reasons, the tea actually became valued for pleasure and refreshment. A
fair amount of tea plantations grew swiftly across China, and the tea merchants
became rich. In India, they also had a very healthy diet. The people of Indus Valley
grew lots of different crops. Some of these crops were peas, barley, wheat, dates, and
lastly melons. Plus, they also raised pigs, sheep, cattle, and grew cotton. Each of the
towns had
The Reality Of Television Programs
Today s television programs are very different from the television programs that
were shown over fifty years ago. The shows in the past portrayed a modest
conservative family. These families consist of a hardworking man and a stay at
home woman, married raising their own biological children. As the years went by,
television has started to portray a more liberal definition of what a familymeans in
today s world. Because of today s TV shows, there are different ideas about what a
family should look like.
Families on TV are not always a married couple containing one man and one woman
raising their own children. We now have many shows that support gay rights when it
comes to marriage and being parents. The hit comedy Modern Family has the
funny loveable characters of Mitchell and Cameron. They adopted a baby girl from
Vietnam. The series also shows the wedding between the two men, as well as the
comical outcomes when they try to raise their daughter the best way possible. As
Greg Graffin wrote in his article Anarchy in the Tenth Grade It is also a shining
example of how easy it is to follow the party line and champion a bandwagon
mentality which only motivates me to keep fighting for originality. (3) This is seen
on the show The Fosters , a girl named Callie is placed in a foster home with a
lesbian couple and their other adopted children. On this show the couple showed
more love and support than the previous foster homes she was placed in, that
consisted of the usual

Essay On Prejudice.pdf

  • 1. Essay On Prejudice Crafting an essay on the subject of prejudice is undoubtedly a challenging endeavor. The intricacies embedded within this theme necessitate a comprehensive understanding of the multifaceted layers that constitute prejudice—be it rooted in race, gender, religion, or other forms of bias. Tackling such a topic demands not only a keen analytical mind but also a deep empathy to navigate the sensitive nuances surrounding the issue. To construct a meaningful essay on prejudice, one must delve into historical contexts, psychological frameworks, and societal structures that perpetuate prejudiced attitudes. Addressing the impact of prejudice on individuals and communities requires a delicate balance of empirical evidence and human narratives, weaving together a narrative that not only informs but also prompts reflection. Furthermore, the challenge lies not only in articulating the negative consequences of prejudice but also in proposing viable solutions. Unraveling the complexities of how prejudice manifests itself in various spheres demands a nuanced exploration, requiring the writer to tread carefully in order to foster understanding rather than perpetuate stereotypes. In conclusion, writing an essay on prejudice demands intellectual rigor, empathy, and an ability to navigate the intricacies of a deeply rooted societal issue. However, it is through such thoughtful exploration that one can contribute to the ongoing dialogue surrounding prejudice and, hopefully, inspire positive change. • 2. Battle Hymn Of The Tiger Mother By Amy Chua In the Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother, Amy Chua addresses two main styles of parenting, and which style she thinks is better for children. The main parenting styles she talks about are Western style parenting, and Chinese parenting. Amy implies that Western parents are more lenient and less strict, and that Chinese parents are very strict and harder on children so that they grow up to be successful. In the essay, she claims that Chinese parents are a lot tougher and more strict on their children than Western parents, so they raise more successful kids. Amy Chua believes that strict, tough parentingwill usually allow their children to have more of an advantage in the world than more lenient parenting because they help the child develop... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They think the children must spend their lives recompensing their parents because of what they did for them. On the other hand, Western parents feel they need to always help their child, no matter what age they are or how much they have helped them in the past. They us the reasoning that the child did not choose to be born. Chua also thinks that she knows what is best for her children. She makes all of the decisions for them. One example she uses is that she won t let her daughters have boyfriends in high school because it would take up too much of their time. She also won t let her kids be in the school play. One of the stories she tells about her seven year old daughter shows how harsh Chua can be, but sometimes harsh parenting works. Her daughter, Lulu, was practising the piano, and she couldn t play the song at all using both of her hands. She could play the part with both of her hands separate, but when she tried to play it with her hands in sync, it didn t sound good. She tried over and over again, but she just couldn t play it. She had wanted to give up, and when she had told her mom that she wanted to give up, she called her lazy, pathetic, and a coward. She threatened her by not letting her eat dinner, use the bathroom, or even get a glass of water. She also threatened to take away Christmas and birthday presents for a few years. Finally, after hours and hours spent working, she miraculously played the song with both of
  • 3. The On A Sleepy Mind And Sleepy Body Introduction There is a large difference between a sleepy mind and a sleepy body, but the combination is the characteristics of a fatigued person. A fatigued person has behavior similar to that of drunkenness, [under] the effects of a large dose of alcohol [1]. Many careers, which include high stress situations and strict timelines, often deprive employees of a good rest due to their working environment. An example of such would be the life of an Airline Pilot, where passenger safety, fast changing weather and inconvenient schedules prevent the Pilot from receiving enough rest. In a British study done in 2014, 86.1% of Pilots reported that they commenced a shift while fatigued and reported feeling utterly drained, very slow to think and process information [2]. Such conditions can cause a lack of judgments and more mistakes occur, which in turn leads to accidents. Airlines and government agencies have developed techniques and laws which aid the flight crew to operate while being well rested, resulting in reduced errors. [enter purpose systems] Causes and Sympoms A leading cause in fatigue in pilots is the long hours and times of commuting between flights. Especially at the entry level flying positions, as a result of the low pay, pilots cannot afford to live near major airports and are required to drive for a long period of time, which can further aggravate exhaustion. Along with that, many airlines require their pilots to operate through bases which are different
  • 4. Comparison Of H, H. Holmes, And Gary Ridgway And The Green... The united states have had many violent, brutal, and deranged serial killers which have shaped what we know about murder today, some of the most twisted may have been Herman Webster Mudgett, better known as H.H Holmes, as well as Gary Ridgway, AKA The Green River Killer. While both of them are similar in many aspects, in some ways they are worlds apart. H. H Holmes was born Herman Webster Mudgett in Gilmanton New Hampshire to parents Levi Horton Mudgett and Theodate Page Price. Holmes was the third child born into his family, youngest of an older brother named Arthur and an older sister named Mary. Born into an affluent family, Holmes was said to be remarkably intelligent at a young age. Holmes parents were devout Methodists and he grew... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Holmes later recollected that this event in particular led to his interest in anatomy and led him pursue a degree at The University of Michigan Medical School in 1884 (Borowski, 2003). Holmes impulses to experiment with animals did not cease throughout his childhood after those events. He would discover forest animals close to his home in the neighboring woods, and dismember them to learn more about their anatomy and physiology. (Bailin, 2008). This didn t only provide Holmes the knowledge of how to dismember, but it also provided him the psychological enabler to fuel his delusions. It is quite possible that Holmes obsession with death may have driven him to murder at the young age of 11, disguising it as an accident. Holmes had a friend who was older than him named Tom, and they would sometimes hangout. On one particular occasion, Tom and Holmes were exploring an abandoned home. Holmes recalls during their exploration, seeing Tom Fall off a landing to his death, but many speculate that Holmes may have pushed him. (Schechter, 2003). Born on February 18th, 1949, Gary Ridgway was born to Mary Rita Steinman and Thomas Newton Ridgway, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Gary, much like Holmes, had two siblings, though one was older, and one was younger. Ridgway was born into a middle class family and had many family problems. Ridgway would often argue with his parents,
  • 5. Tlon Sparknotes Man I am glad that our world is intelligible! Enjoy! In his excerpt of Tlon, Borges speaks about the discovery of a nation called Uqbar and exhibits much interest in it. He attempts to conduct research on it, however, fails miserably and can only find a single encyclopedia that mentions it existence. Some years later, Borges comes across an encyclopedia called the first encyclopedia of Tlon. He becomes fascinated with Tlon and concludes that it was nothing more than a concoction of intellectuals who simply made up this planet and decided to write about it. Ironically, as the years pass, Borges comes across more and more information regarding Tlon and soon discovers that the rest of the world is being informed of the planet and its ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Clarke would offer little surprise that Borges retreats within himself because if being were unintelligible, then life would have no purpose. Clarke emphasizes that the unrestricted drive to know is what gives rise to metaphysics and that if the world was unintelligible that every person would be doomed to horrid frustration. Further, if the world were unintelligible, then our scope of knowledge would be reduced to nothing but the observation of what is in front of us. For instance, if a cow were to leave a cow pie on the edge of a green pasture(and lets say that only cows can leave a mark like this and that one cow their cow remained on earth) and then waltz over to the barn and the next day the farmer asked his wife to help him discover where the pie at the edge of the pasture came from, because it was not immediately observed that the cow had left the pie and looking beyond the situation would imply the intelligibility of being it would just remain a mystery that their cow had left a pie. Thus, any attempt at problem solving would presuppose the acceptance of intelligibility of being. Clarke further notes that one cannot simply survive in denial of the intelligibility of being and that our entire existence depends on our right to solve problems and expand our mind and make connections, rather than base ourselves on empirical observations. He also offers that nature is willing
  • 6. Failure In Roman Architecture The Romans were recognized and renowned for their engineering accomplishments, having pioneered engineering materials and structures, some standing till date. Despite these achievements, they have been accused of failing in aesthetics. I believe terming Roman architecture as failure aesthetically is extreme due to their pragmatic nature and practical approach, evident from the aqueducts, the amphitheatre and Roman temples. The Romans constructed aqueducts to transport water from different sources into metropolitan areas. According to Anderson (2012), the primary purpose of the aqueducts was to transport water from valleys into town. The bridges and viaducts on aqueducts were necessary for aqueducts to support the water flow, instead of architectural glories to be admired. Anderson felt the Pont du Gard was a mixed piece of architecture from the Romans. They stayed organized by listing the soft yellow limestone bricks ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They built several amphitheatres mostly homogeneous, varying in size namely Pompeii, Arles and NГ®mes. According to Ulrich (2014), the materials used to build amphitheatres, concrete, or opus reticulatum, was evidence that they were significant in the Roman Empire. Buildings made of concrete in the Roman Empire were politically and ideologically motivated, establishing the significance and prestige amphitheatres held. Experienced teams were sent out of central Italy to construct amphitheatres outside the capital. A Roman hierarchical seating system designed for the platform seating arena, or cavea, was incorporated into the amphitheatres. In terms of size and extravagance, none could be compared to the majestic Flavian amphitheatre, more commonly known as the Colosseum. The exterior design of the Colosseum was in Doric, Ionic and Corinthian order surrounding the faГ§ade of the amphitheatre, a lavish stadium created by the Romans to showcase their power, wealth and talents on the grandest

But there s more to it than that. On April 22th, 1970, it woke everyone that human need to protect the environment they are living today (The History of Earth Day | Earth Day Network). This brought the caution to people that we need to aware the environmental concerns from now. The EarthDay can bring more knowledge and information to educate people. It also reminds people years and years that we need to do everything and protect the world we only have before it is too late. Forty six years later, there are more and more countries, organizations, schools and others institutions join activities which help protect the environment. For instance, cut the electricity for an hour, planets more trees, and build up protect areas. • 17. What Role Does Perception Play In Critical Thinking Perception is the organisation, identification and interpretation of sensory information in order to represent and understand the environment. Like perception, logic plays a role in critical thinking. Critical thinking is the process in which one mentally explores deeper than the superficial matters at hand into the deeper layers in order to find out what the real issues are. However, when it comes to weighing their beneficial impact on the critical thinking process, logic and perception are by no means equal. While logic is firmly rooted in reason, perceptions are just as firmly rooted in one s senses and can easily be corrupted. Many kinds of faulty logic or perception interfere with our ability to think critically, for example, superstition, argument from ignorance, false analogies, irrelevant comparison and fallacies. Therefore, I believe that perception is certainly not reality and most mistakes in thinking are inadequacies of perception rather than mistakes of logics. Perception is defined as the ability to see, hear or becomes aware of something through the senses (Nature of Logic and Perception). From the origins of the Chinese Empire, all the way to the present day, China has been one of the most innovative, influential, and powerful countries in the world. China in particular has an incredibly rich and unique historical heritage and history. Like many other ancient societies Chinese society began along a river, was based on agriculture, and developed trade networks and large cities. China s geography is quite interesting, the textbook refers to it as a study in contrast. The west and southwest are mountainous and bleak. The north is arid and barren, dominated by the Gobi abd Mongolian Plateau. Despite these harsh and uninviting regions. This did not prevent connections with other cultures. Eastern China is defined by two major rivers. In the South is the Yangzi river, because of the positive traits of the Yangzi river the terrain is lush, ideal for farming. In the North however, is the yellow river, the brownish yellow silt is responsible for both its name and color. The yellow river is shallow and flows through flat plains, with frequent floods, naturally harsh and cold. However, the brownish yellow soil deposited on surrounding lands by periodic floods, the rich silt restores the soils fertility. Farming came early to this area, as early as 7000 B.C.E, a necessity to sustain the growing population, in addition because the yellow rivers unpredicately, it forced those who lived
  • 19. The Music of Claude Debussy When one thinks of impressionistic composers, it is only natural for Claude Debussy to be part of the subject. However, it is rare that impressionism and classical form are mentioned within the same breath. For that reason, it is necessary to remind oneself that the free flowing music of the contemporary only exists by standing on the shoulders of the rigidly methodical music that came before it. Claude Debussy s First Violin Sonata exemplifies this beautifully. Though the harmonic language is that of parallelisms and unstable key centers, motivically, the piece is balanced around the same Sonata Principal that governed Debussy s forefathers, going back to Beethoven and Haydn. Claude Debussy s First Violin Sonata was completed in 1917, in the year before Debussy s passing. These three fiery movements represent some of the more aggressive music that Debussy has written, rather than the more mellow Preludes he is commonly known for. The harmonic vocabulary of Debussy would quickly make one realize that instead of gleaming the Sonata Principal out of the relationship between I and V, Debussy would do that with the relationship between sonorities that are unstable and even less stable. The piece is in Sonata form, with a complete Exposition, Development, and modified Recapitulation. However, the key areas don t reflect that the way the listener might expect. Being that the vast majority of this piece is in G, it is musical material other than key areas that one must use in order

The Federalists and Democratic Republicans are similar by being the first political parties to emerge. In 1797, George Washingtonstepped down from the presidency after two successful terms in office. Prior to this, towards the end of his last term, he wrote his farewell address which contained his advice to whatever comes after him. He warns the people that the emergence of political parties fighting to control the nation would cause divisive factions. While different groups existed while George Washington was president, he was the glue that kept the people together. But once he stepped down from office, two main political parties emerged and began competing for control of the presidency, Congress, and the states. These two political parties were the Federalists and the Democratic Republicans. The two had opposing views on nearly every policy, but both began at the same

Majority of the people thought it was only used by large brands that have an international distribution need. When there was an issue in the supply chain, people were pulled from their existing jobs to fix the issue. Once the problem was solved, the people would go back to their original tasks. Technology has crept into SCM slowly, starting with electronic invoicing, computerized shipping and tracking as well as automated notifications that were progressively used by companies like FedEx and UPS. Initially intended for business to business interactions, it took time before that level of tracking and accountability was provided to consumers. But it became quite clear that notifying everyone along the chain has become increasingly important. It was only when companies like Zappos which positioned itself to be customer friendly, by creating a tagline Powered by Service, came into limelight that clients got a flavor of how they have a huge role to play in purchases. Zappos as on online company, did not start with brick and mortar stores, so instead of adapting to new technology, they were embraced by it. In the book The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger, the author develops Holden s cynical attitude by connecting him to painful memories and events such as Allie s death, losing touch with Jane, and losing his trust in adulthood. Holden deals with his younger brother Allie s death with both negative and positive memories. Consequently, his pain catches up to him when Stradlater and Jane go on a date. If you didn t go to New York, where d ya go with her? I asked him, after a little while. I could hardly keep my voice from shaking all over the place. Boy was I getting nervous. I just had a feeling something had gone funny (55). All the pain Holden has kept within seems to burst out. He starts to feel nervous and jealous and this contributes to his negative attitude. We see here that Holden truly cares for Jane and this hints that he has feelings for her. He is in a lot of pain due to losing his close friendship with Jane. Holden feels repentant yet reminiscent of the memories he once had with Jane. Holden handles his belief that adulthood is sardonic rather childish yet adultlike. For instance, when Holden is out with Sally he acts immature about the phonies around him. At the end of the first act we went out with all the other jerks for a cigarette. What a deal that was. You never saw so many phonies in your life, everybody smoking their ears off and talking about the play so that everybody could hear and know how sharp they were (164). Holden thinks

The author explains the deprivation by bluntly saying, [n]obody wants to give pigeons a job[;] / [p]arakeets, canaries, and parrots / have the market sewn up as far as that goes (Hernandez 1023). This is a very true statement. Even though Hispanics can be seen working at jobs, these jobs are frequently minimum wage for pay in which they cannot advance to higher positions. It is rare to see a Hispanic person working in an office in which blacks and whites are the dominant customers or employees. Also, this act of depriving is done within the school system. Often times a child with a Hispanic background is not given the opportunity to rise to his or her level of learning. They are often kept back and placed in lower level classes. He makes the point that his ethnic group is not accepted by many Americans. He asks a simple but strong question within his poem: When was the last time you saw a pigeon in someone s home? (Hernandez 1023). Hispanics are not usually welcomed in the homes of whites or blacks for the main fact

Few Americans, like the character of Jay Gatsby in F. Scott Fitzgerald s novel The Great Gatsby, will fulfill this dream. But, average Americans, like the character of George Wilson, will remain in their parents class for the entirety of their lives. Class mobility is an integral facet of the American dream, and while possible, it is not often achieved. Only a select few super achievers can attain the rags to riches, American dream of an ascent to wealth and power, but the majority of Americans will live their lives perpetually stuck in the class that they were born into. It is the minimum return a company needs to earn in order to satisfy its investor base (as weighted for the amount of debt vs. equity in the target/capital structure), which is what the company must pay investors to raise new financing to support new projects or ventures. WACC is particularly useful here because Yeats has no debt, thus, it is an equity financed company. In the case of Yeats, the company must have capital to continue to develop and market its new Widening Gyre Program. The formula for WACC = Re (E/V) + Rd (D/V)(1 t) However, because Yeats does not have debt, the second half of this formula, Rd(D /V)(1 t) is not necessary. Being that Yeats has zero debt, the value of its equity is in full, which represents its Enterprise Value. Tax (t) is determined in the case as 40% or .40 (p. 5). We must then calculate the CAPM for the cost of equity (see Excel sheet for details): Re = Rf + Beta (Rm Rf) Re = Required Return on Equity Rf = Risk Free Rate = 5.98 (p. 16) Beta = Measure of Risk relative to the general market (volatility) = 1.5 (p. 5) Rm Rf = Equity Market Risk Premium (EMRP) = 5.5 (p. 16) Rm = Market Risk Rf = Risk Free Assets (U.S. treasury security) With Beta at 1, the stock price changes in precise tandem with the market, but with Yeat s beta at 1.5, it is more risky than a group of peer stocks. The Fourth Phase The fourth phase started in 2006 to today. Inspired by the UN s Education for Sustainable Development, Iran developed a framework for environmental education, which was compatible with Iranian cultural and social [norms], (Shobeiri et al., 2014). They wanted to fulfill the following goals: provide structure EE, give specialized training, create a master plan for EE, and the establishment of EE Headquarters in Tehran. Some of these programs have been more implemented than others. Due to this, the fourth phase is not as clearly defined as the other three. The next few sections will be looking at how well they have achieved some of their goals so far. Specialized training for environmental education seems to have fallen by the wayside. Studies have shown that there is a shortage of teachers who lack knowledge about environmental problems and issues. Thus, there needs to be more effort put into updating teacher qualifications and classroom materials (Karmizadegan and Meiboudi, 2012: Hederi, F. Heidari, M., 2015). For instance, goals, questions, and assignments in Iranian textbooks have not changed since 2000, (Karmizadegan and Meiboudi, 2012). By not updating these concerns, efforts to increase training and knowledge in environmental education would slow down tremendously. While the basic structure of environmental education will remain the same,

The Negative Effects Of Smartphones And Social Media In the world we live in today everyone is connected to one another through their smartphones and social media, Although this has had positive effect on the world i believe that the negative effects outweigh the positive effects. The extensive use of smartphones and social media have made it harder for students to gather and obtain information due to their dependence on technology to easily gather it for them. Studies have shown that the increased use of social media and smartphone have lead to mental health problem among teens. With everyone so worried about their facebooks and instagrams they haven t been able to learn how to properly socialize with other people. Smartphones and social media have negatively affected students ability to obtain information, alter their emotional stability, and negatively influence their social skills. Smartphones and social media have made gathering information difficult for people in living in the world because they rely on their smartphone and other technology to obtain the information the need for them. This has affected people s ability to read and absorb information from long articles or book where they actually have to take the time to read them. In his article Is Google Making Us Stupid? Initially meant for military purposes, after the war he felt it could be used as a focus for young boys to give them more meaning in life (Pettinger. T, 2009). This lead to other non statutory services such as Cubs, Brownies, Rainbows etc. During the first world war it was difficult to keep these services up and running with children being evacuated out of the city and young people being signed up for military service; but they did have an alternative. Personally, I have wondered this for a long time, but today I will tell you about them, and compare and contrast them. Also, I will be showing you evidence to as why I think ancient Chinese food is more advanced than ancient India food. Ancient Chinese food was very healthy. They ate very little fish or meat, and they ate a great quantity of vegetables. They sometimes ate duck, turtle, fish, eggs, and wild game. Noodles and rice were very popular at the time. Rice was usually eaten on festivals and anytime else. Rice dumplings were usually eaten at the initial full moon in the new year, mostly so the people of China could make a wish on the dumplings. Rice soon became very popular and was nearly eaten every single day. The noodles were made out of wheat, and were very tasty and very thin. China came up with the idea of tea. So, the rising of tea in China ongoingly and very swiftly grew. The time period that it grew, was from the 4th to the 8th century. No longer was it only used for medical reasons, the tea actually became valued for pleasure and refreshment. A fair amount of tea plantations grew swiftly across China, and the tea merchants became rich. In India, they also had a very healthy diet. The people of Indus Valley grew lots of different crops. As the years went by, television has started to portray a more liberal definition of what a familymeans in today s world. Because of today s TV shows, there are different ideas about what a family should look like. The hit comedy Modern Family has the funny loveable characters of Mitchell and Cameron. They adopted a baby girl from Vietnam. The series also shows the wedding between the two men, as well as the comical outcomes when they try to raise their daughter the best way possible.
