isn t trusted by many people. He is selfish and the only person he truly loved was
Johnny. When Ponyboy slowly came to these realizations, I think he might have
been slightly disappointed. I believe this because when you truly look up to
someone and you realize their real character, you feel let down or upset at yourself.
Ponyboy, even though upset, still had Dally s back because no matter what Dally
did the Greasers had each other s backs. Ponyboy s mind, immensely shut, didn t
accept the fact that not all Soc s were bad until a little bit later in the book. He then
realizes that the Soc s are also just humans who have just as many harsh problems
as the Greasers. He then is proven this when he meet Cherry. Cherry is a Soc who is
kind, witty, and watches the same sunset that Ponyboy does. They end up sharing an
immense amount of things in common, and get along well. Ponyboy then takes a
couple of steps back and awe s at that fact that even though Cherry is a Soc she is not
mean but instead pleasant to be around.

Army in Madrid. There are various visual elements and design principles in the art,

Goya s art, we can see the primary, visual element of lines. Lines represent motion,
dynamics, and direction. The soldiers are aiming their rifles at a group of prisoners
waiting for execution. Horizontal lines indicate a peaceful scene, however, in this
case, it would be appropriate to say they mean a sense of destruction or death, as
the title of the art depicts. As the view follows the direction of the lines, the viewer
is immediately drawn to the man with the bright white shirt. The values of the piece
are relatively dark and morbid, however, when we look at the man with the white
shirt, we can see the opposite effect of the bright white shirt. Going back to the

How I learn through journal articles is definitely different than from a novel or a
series of essays. To understand what the article is trying to explain, I have to read
them a couple times thoroughly. The strategy I find to be the most beneficial is I
will first read the abstract (if there is one), read the introduction, browse through
the headings and finally read the conclusion so that when I go back and read the
whole article I will have a guide and a general idea about what the article is about
/arguing. I think this is really important as academic articles can be extremely
dense and you can get trapped in the language and you end up reading a paragraph

By connecting the ideas from the articles and applying them with Things Fall Apart
which I believe is always helpful when discussing theory is to apply it to a modern
or relevant sense. It makes it much easier to comprehend somewhat complex
theoretical ideas on what identity is by seeing it played out in a novel we had just
previously examined. This links to what I said before with connecting concepts to my
own personal experiences or previous understandings for a more holistic
understanding. Although there is the argument that a good researcher is able to
separate oneself from their work and simply display the facts; however, I do not
think that this is what the course requires from students. I think that because identity
is such an intricate part of your daily lives it would be near impossible to separate
