I believe Christianity began as a religion of anti Semitism, however, I do not believe that tradition
remained the same in modern day society. Anti Semitism refers to the practice of discrimination
and hostility toward those who practice Judaism. Historically, anti Semitism was a long standing
custom of whichever empire or ruling power was in charge of Jerusalem and that custom did not
exclude Christians when they eventually rose to power during the time of the Roman Empire. In
fact, several early Christian homilies and dialogues were spoken against the practice of Judaism,
primarily because of their role in the death of Jesus. However, I believe that in modern times the
practice of anti Semitism has moved away from a primary religious standpoint and become more

This particular period of time was very significant in terms of general changes in society given the
post war baby boom, abolition of the death penalty, improved reproduction rights for women, peaks
in the number of university attendees, sexual revolution which saw strident action towards female
liberation and equality, an influx of immigrants from the Caribbean and South Asia, periods of
economic booms and busts and new found openness of sex, sexuality, drug use and freedom of
expression in fashion and music which was largely unprecedented. The question however is, how
much influence did youth culture have on these issues and what has been the impact of the changes

1960s such as social attitudes towards the family. Many people were traditional and saw women
who worked to be selfish and neglecting their responsibilities in the home. Many working class

education was expensive thus only an option for wealthier families. Women also had limited
education; with limited educational opportunities for girl s women were restricted to lower paid

There was also lack of government legalisation. Employers were reluctant to appoint women to

Themes of Penelope s Heroism in The Penelopaid
The Penelopaid is a novella which was written by author Margaret Atwood and published in
2005. It is a contemporary perspective narrated by Penelope, the wife of Odysseus and is an
extension of Homer s The Odyssey. In The Odyssey, the descriptions of the women and their lives
is written from a masculine perspective, and does not relay the true depth of the female characters
role, especially not Penelope. The Penelopaid however, tells the story from the perspective of
Penelope deep within the dark halls of Hades. The Penelopaid highlights the disparities in freedom
of movement, respect, thought and action between the lives of men and women in ancient Greece,
but Atwood seems to indicate in The Penelopaid that the real hero in this epic is Penelope and not
Odysseus. Penelope is a hero because she displays the main characteristics of a hero; she is noble
and virtuous, loyal, intelligent, selfless and brave. This analysis centers on the concept that through
her writing, Atwood may have, intentionally or inadvertently, allowed the reader to understand that
it is Penelope who is the hero of the Odyssey and not Odysseus. Actually he highlights the

Communication is the most important one topic because people communicate no matter what we
need communication to express ourselves to others. Appiah said it is more important to
communicate one another in person instead of using other networks. The conversation is the first
