Covered bus sheds with benches are provided by Miami–Dade Transit, which is easily accessible
and close to the hospital and schools. A bus stop was also noted on the hospital compound.
Rural area with lots of farmland. Both male and female laborers, as well as, migrant workers tending
to the crops and taking care of the land. Very few political signs and health education billboards.
Health education is predominantly displayed on the sides of the buses in Spanish and English. There
are elementary, middle and high school present in the community. The daycare centers are in private
homes of residents.
c. Health resources
There's only one hospital that serves this community located on the main travelled street and is
easily accessible by bus or car. A diabetic and CHF clinic is also present in the community that
opens only during day time. There's a nursing home for the elderly funded by the county. CVS and
Walgreens pharmacies located almost on the outskirts of the community. The resources are not
sufficient to address the other problem of obesity noted in the community. More outreach programs
are needed to reach the poorer residents in the rural part of the community.
d. Environmental conditions related to health
Some houses and multi–family structures are in need of repair. Older homes with burglar proof
metal bars on doors and windows. Road are well paved with adequate traffic lights and drainage.
However, roads leading into rural agricultural areas are dirt

Perspective Essay on the Code of the Streets
Perspective Essay on The Code of the Streets
Culture in urban communities, also referred to as inner–cities, are growing increasingly violent. In
the article, The Code of the Streets by Elijah Anderson, he begins to take an in–depth look at the
root of the evil. He deduces that economic factors, parenting and the troublesome environments
largely influence the violent norms within this culture.
Anderson notes that two groups coexist simultaneously in the inner–cities which he labels as the
"decent" and the "streets." Although both groups suffer economic difficulties, they differ in values
mainly instilled through parenting and the home environment. The decent group seeks to adopt
mainstream middle–class values, such as a love, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Robberies, violence and drug–dealing transgressions are a constant fear of many. The decent
families although opposed to the norms of the ghetto, encourage their children to understand and
respect the code of the streets in an effort to protect themselves. Also, many youths in the inner–
cities try to behave as others within their sub–culture. A child might dress or speak a certain way
that a race is labeled to be standard to fit in. For example, a Caucasian individual may dress in
baggy clothes and speak in slang in public to imitate what people label the African American youth
to be uniform. However, this individual in some instances could act completely different at home or
in other environments such as family gatherings or church. Anderson begins to analyze the troubled
culture by first looking at the home environment and behaviors during childhood. The values differ
drastically between the two groups. He states that the decent families are typically working families
and try to instill positive values in their children. They hope to provide a nurturing environment and
aid their children in pursuing a successful future. They are involved in their performance in school
and have home rules to abide by. They have curfews for their children and generally know where
and whom they are with at all times, especially young children. They try to prepare their children for
the unknown and possible confrontations with

Patrick Slush Descriptive Writing
There is nothing more terribly beautiful than the snow stricken streets of New York City. Beneath a
greying evening sky, and between tall buildings of steel, are big flakes of swirling snow that drift
and lightly cover every street lamp, branch, shoulder and patch of pavement untouched by moving
feet. Patrick Sole, a man without a home, is slumped, in wet, grey slush, against a brick wall. He
does not twitch, he does not tremble. And if white begins to blanket his tattered coat, and if his
frostnipped fingers begin to numb; well, he does not stir. For how long he has sat there, he does not
know, for he looks and feels as white as a ghost.
With an icy puff of breath, Patrick blinks slowly and blankly observes the blur of faces before him.
As the evening sky blackens, the bustle of the street grows noisier and is lit vividly by street lamps,
lights, cars and electronic billboards. It is at that moment Patrick wonders: how can one be so lonely
in a city with over nineteen million souls?
Patrick is so lost in melancholy that he does not notice a wet nose nudge his gloved hand. A quiet

He sees many tug their coats closer to their bodies and blow warm air into cupped gloves. He sees
some speaking on their phones, walking beneath trees with bare branches clawing at the sky. He
sees others inside buildings lined with shops and warm lights, enjoying the toasty air within and hot
cups of coffee. And then there is Patrick, frozen in place, watching crowds dart by heedless of him,
the dog, and his suffering. The heaviness in his heart continues to grow and grow, weighing him
down and filling his chest. It would appear so that if his heart were to collapse under the weight,
then an avalanche of his pain would fall and crush the entire city. But it won't, and it never will, for
his melancholy is buried deep beneath his bones and the blood that he

College Admissions Essay
There was a warm breeze that Friday in September when I packed my two large bags, kissed my
family and friends good–bye, and left my home. Thus the greatest adventure of my life was begun.
On my first day of studying in France, I woke up early and took a quasi–shower, which consisted of
sprinkling myself with water for hours until all the soap finally drained out of my hair. My dressing
procedures were followed by a silent breakfast that consisted of some bitter–tasting, dark liquid and
a hard, bread–like substance. The bread I ate dry, for fear of the dark scary–looking pot of jam. I
packed my books and headed off for class.
As soon as I left my street, a man on a bike stared at me as he passed. "Stupid American," he ...

I waited patiently again for the green man. Several students passed me, and they all said, "Does she
not know how to cross the street? Maybe she needs someone to hold her hand."
When I got through the stone wall that surrounds my city, there was a small bar, where men sat
outside drinking hard liquor at 8:00 in the morning. They all stared at me as I passed and thought
seriously about surrounding me and harassing me until I screamed for help. I walked carefully down
the narrow sidewalk of the street, until I passed a man walking the opposite way. He tried to run me
off the sidewalk and scowled at me just for being in his way. He thought, "I wish these Americans
would learn how to walk." Not long after that, there was a strange and straggly looking man in my
path. He tried to stop me by asking me a question, but I kept walking. I didn't understand the
question because he said it in French, but I'm pretty sure he was just trying to torture and embarrass
me.
When I passed the cafe just outside of my school, there were a number of beautiful people drinking
their morning coffees. They all stared at me in disgust as I passed, thinking, "if we don't get these
ugly Americans out of our country soon . . ."
Finally, I arrived at the little school where I would be taking classes. I pried open the enormous
wooden door and ran inside before I could be attacked

Personal Narrative: Downtown
Four days, three days, two days, it's tomorrow. Although I have been counting down to this date, it is
ludicrous how fast the days have gone. As I make my way to the venue I look out the window of the
car and think to myself how much I am going to enjoy this night. It is the sight of an exaggerated
amount of teenage angst immaculately aligned outside in the freezing cold.
The streets are loud, the atmosphere is exciting, the wind is so cold that it feels like it is cutting into
my skin. We are walking towards a lengthy line of people that gathered here tonight to sing their
lungs out, dance until their feet hurt and make memories.
Downtown is usually busy, but tonight it feels different. The enormous amount of cars making the
air smell like pure gasoline, people wandering down the streets asking strangers for a dollar, piles of
trash left by people who spent the night on the streets to get a closer glimpse of their favorite band
tonight. Hundreds of people are here tonight, waiting for a moment that they hope will be
unforgettable.

brings people together no matter what their age, race or beliefs are, it creates a safe heaven for
everyone in the room, forgetting about the bills they have to pay, or that phone call they need to

Here, we will implement this project by using 555 timers IC. Other basic components which we
used are power supply, Light Dependent Resistor (LDR), Relay and Light emitting diodes (LEDs)
which we are using in place of a light bulb. A. 555 Timer IC The 555 timer IC is an integrated
circuit (chip) used in a variety of timer, pulse generation, and oscillator applications. The 555 can be
used to provide time delays, as an oscillator, and as a flip–flop element. Derivatives provide up to
four timing circuits in one package. The IC was designed in 1971 by Hans R. Camenzind under
contract to Signetics, which was later acquired by Philips. Depending on the manufacturer, the
standard 555 package includes 25 transistors, 2 diodes and 15 resistors on a silicon chip installed in
an 8–pin mini dual–inline package. Variants available include the 556 (a 14–pin DIP

The Importance Of Street Lights
VILLANUEVA, Felizsa Lynne V. ` BA Political Science 2014 – 44604 Political Science 197
Review of Literature Improved traffic safety for pedestrians and cyclists is an important goal of
public health policies in countries throughout the world. The World Health Organization (WHO) has
identified traffic injuries and fatalities as among the world's 5 most important causes of unnatural
death, with predictions that they will become the leading cause by 2030. As of 2015, they were
already the leading cause of unnatural death among persons in the group aged 15 to 29 years. One
proper measure to prevent road accidents that have successfully reduced the numbers in some

Proper use of street lighting can be considered as a protective method which provides economic and
social benefits to the people. Surveys have shown that the public are in favour of street lighting as a
way of improving road safety and that, if anything, it needs to be improved in some areas. In some
locations, a reduction in lighting quality may not increase the risk of an accident. However, there is
the danger that an unconsidered removal or reduction in quality could actually increase accidents
and their severity. Therefore, rates should be monitored to ensure that sacrificing the quality of
lighting does not unduly increase the risk. Increases in risk may ultimately lead to lives being lost. A
literature review of studies relating the presence of lighting to accident reduction concluded that "On
urban main roads, with mainly a traffic function, a reduction in accidents involving injuries of
approximately 30% can be expected at night following an improvement in the lighting from very
bad to good" A Japanese report that looked at the reduction in accidents at junctions, following the
provision of lighting, found that there was a 43% reduction in night–time accidents. It also found
that the effectiveness of lighting in preventing accidents depended on its illuminance, and that the
brighter the lighting, the better it is at preventing accidents. However it did not define an upper limit
to brightness beyond which further brightening would have no, or

The Pros And Cons Of Street Rage
The expression "Road rage" originated in the United States in 1987–1988.The term "street wrath"
can allude to any presentation of animosity by a driver, however is frequently used to allude to the
more compelling demonstrations of such hostility, as physical ambush. Street wrath, as different
types of resentment, regularly is by all accounts created by driver disappointment. Expressions or
encounters of resentment while driving or going out and about constitute street lash out and
incorporate verbal ill–use and dangers and/or demonstrations of physical damage. Street wrath can
end in genuine outcome, for example, damage and demise, and casualties can turn out to be
financially loaded.

Theme Of Angela's Ashes And The Street
Theme is the hidden morals within a piece of literature that the author is trying to get readers to
understand. In both Angela's Ashes and The Street, we can distinguish a similar theme. One similar
theme in both stories is struggling to get through life's complications. After reading the two different
excerpts, we can use character, events, and the setting to further our understanding.
In Angela's Ashes, the theme of struggling to get through life's obstacles is shown using character. In
paragraph 4, McCourt writes, "You can look in people's windows and see how cozy it is in their
kitchens with fires glowing or ranges black and hot everything bright in the electric light cups and
saucers on the table with plates of sliced bread pounds of butter jars of jam smells of fried eggs... the
mother crisp and clean in her apron everyone washed and the Sacred Heart of Jesus looking down
on them from the wall suffering and sad but still happy with all that food and light and good
Catholics at their breakfast." This quote shows, that the protagonist has been peering into the houses
of the rich and realizes that the rich has everything they want and more. This theme shows that the
main character is jealous of the rich lifestyle because they have more struggles than the rich do. In
addition, this theme is also presented using events. In paragraph 5, "In a second I have two bottles of
lemonade up under my jersey and i saunter away trying to look innocent," (McCourt). This quote is

What I Learned About Magic
I used to not believed in mythical creatures, magic, or spirits, I never liked the movies or books with
fairies, curses, or evil. I always thought that it was nonsense that only 5 year olds believed in. For
me, magic was a silly form of entertainment that made you gape with fake amazement at a carnival
or magic show. Maybe it was the fact that I refused to believe that forced me into this mess in the
first place, or maybe it was just destined to happen. But either way, I learned my lesson the hard
way. It all began on my summer vacation to see my grandparents in Egypt when I was 13. As I got

of the bean bag chair and opened the box. Inside were 2 orbs, 1 was a bright gold while the other
was a metalic blue color. Carefully, I picked up both orb began to walk towards my bed, but on my

glass seemed to be melting forming 2 distinct shapes. In a few minutes 2 human figures had formed,

Home Descriptive Essay
My definition for home indescribable by words or by a simple thought, but home is rather of a
feeling. Home is the calmness and serenity that settles over me like a blanket on a cold snowy night,
just a silent assurance telling me I belong there. It took me quite a bit of time to understand where
exactly that place is, and I didn't know that the answer was always right in front of me. This feeling
would come and go, and I would never recognize it because I knew that only the house I lived in
was my home. Home is in fact more than what the words in the dictionary say.
When I was younger, I lived in the Philippines, my backyard were the rice fields and I would always
play hide and seek with all my friends behind the trees. But there was one tree I can never forget–––
it was a big guayacan tree that grew on a little hill. It was a very old tree and I loved how it
blossomed yellow flowers. Whenever the wind blew, its beautiful golden petals fell as if they were
snow. I would always run as fast as I could before the last petal falls, I loved being covered with
them. I loved it so much that I would sometimes even fall asleep feeling the yellow blanket under
the warmth of sunshine beneath the peaceful skies. I dreamt of climbing the tree all the way up the
skies, reaching for the clouds. Naive and carefree; my childhood–––this was my home.
When it was time for harvest, I would always run around the rice fields watching all the farmers cut

Life of Workers in Staithes Essay
Close by the giant textile mill row on row on row of drab terrace houses huddle together as if to fend
off the bitter cold of a winter night in December of 1811. Night obscures the narrow streets of the
industrial village of Holmeside as morning's hesitant light pokes through the canopy of dismal
clouds. Inside the mill, workers have been toiling for hours. They rose from their beds early and put
on their work clothing. The lucky ones ate a crust of bread and drank the remains of yesterday's milk
before stepping out into the chilly darkness to make their way to the mill. They carried the smallest
children. Older children plodded along sleepily as if newly raised from the dead and not yet
accustomed to walking. The eldest child is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All that is human is troubled by their failure to benefit except by Death's summons. The portal of the
grave is their only means of escape.
Some said the disadvantages of the poor were their own making. Many believed that the working
poor were not fully human, but a bestial and inferior species, unlike themselves, specifically
supplied by Providence as servants through whose labour they ran profitable enterprises. The poor
were seen as a raw material in the same class as wool and cotton. They were cheap to employ and
easy to replace. Those that looked down on workers failed to see that working conditions in textile
mills were why workers were afflicted with conditions for which no treatment existed.
These early morning people move in procession through the streets, uniting with others at street
junctions to form broader streams, merging with other streams as they neared the mill to form a
grand current of humanity closing on the massive iron gates of the mill that were symbols of
imprisonment. Once inside the gates, workers fanned out to go to various work stations to work as
machine minders in the manufactory. This was the common condition of men, women, and children
in the hard textile country of Yorkshire's West Riding. The characters of Yorkshire folk were forged
in the crucibles of harsh terrain and exacting industrial environments.

Film Aesthetics
In Film Aesthetics I have watched many fantastic films such as Moonrise Kingdom, Touch of Evil,
Stranger Than Fiction, and many enjoyable movies to watch. All the movies I have watched have
fabulous scenes which have captured my attention, Opening scene for Touch of Evil by Orson
Orwell really caught my attention. The movements, decor, props, lighting, framing, and the setting
of the scene adapted well. Orwell made these elements coalesce into an original and is why this
scene is highly regarded, the subtitles in the beginning of the scene might of taken away the a bit
feel of the scene, but overall is a scene worth analysing. Touch of Evil is directed by Orson Welles.

Corner Street Light Research Paper
"Much of our background is actually in rock music prior to doing electronic music," said Freddy.
The once rock now experimental electronic the duo of brothers, Charlie and Freddy Avis, has
produced an amazing array of progressive music over the past years.
The two brothers were previously in a band called Corner Street Light before Arswain that was a
pure rock band. However, as Corner Street Light started doing live shows they found themselves
producing a "hybrid rock band and DJ set show." They were incorporating live instrumentals while
adding pre–recorded keys, loops, and drums kits, and this started the transformation stage to
electronic. In addition, the album Cross by Justice was a strong influence, as it "opened the whole
world" of electronic music and the idea of "using a computer as an ... Show more content on

The track captivates listeners with a dark spacy electronic vibe leaving the end of the song floating
into an unknown destiny. Charlie said this track "emerged as a German house synthesizer song," and
holds much less of a structural planning. "Hologram" breaks tradition framework and attracts a
different and heavier vibe than their existing tracks like "Irate," "Vaporize," or "Overzealous."
Another track that stands out from Arswain is "Lois Lane" from their second album Fortress. The
song has much deeper roots and lyrical meanings than most of their other tracks. The track is a
metaphor for how technology can "remove us from reality and can create a new world in which we
indulge ourselves in." Instead of modern technology advancing communication it has only made us
more self–dependent on our personal devices. This translates into the vocals and instruments of the
track with a final finish of a "surreal audio effect, where you cannot tell what's real and what's

Ghetto Stereotypes
Turning Stereotypes to Facts
When asked to compare two different neighborhoods, I instantly thought of the two most common
stereotypes; the "wealthy" and the "ghetto". When thinking of a wealthy neighborhood, images of
large homes and expensive cars come to mind. On the other hand, the word "ghetto" conjures up
images of boarded windows and over– grown lawns. Clearly these stereotypes are not always true,
but the idea remains the same. The neighborhood you live in automatically places you in certain
categories, re– gardless of whether or not you belong in them. "As the cliché goes, you can tell a lot
about a person by their shoes–you can tell even more about them based on where they've chosen to
call home." An article by Megan Koester titled ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Preventive measures are also more costly to the individual, as opposed to city funded methods.
David DeMille reports that a home security system can cost upwards of $200 to install, and require a
monthly fee to keep active. When thinking of the alternative, city funded security, the first thing that
comes to mind is policemen. When driving down and around North Gaines street, it was easily seen
that this was the preferred method of security. Cars were parked on the street, and streetlights were
few and far between. Moreover, windows had been re– placed by wooden boards, removing the
security of being able to lock them. Many also lacked curtains, and when homes did have them they
were thin and could easily be seen through if a light was on inside. It is not an exaggeration to say
that there was a cop on every corner. Each new turn came with a new officer, and each one traveling
slowly. This low level of preventive measures has likely contributed to the crime rates in the city of
Davenport. On a scale of 1–100, Davenport, Iowa is only a 5 in regards to safety ("Davenport"). The
city itself has chosen to stereotype those who live in the neighborhood as criminals, or a "threat" to
the peace. Arguably, having such a substan– tial amount of police cruising the streets is not an
accident. It is Davenport's way of catching criminals and/or stopping them. With so many policemen
on duty, it's easy to see why citizens have

Why Is Morocco Unsafe Place
Morocco is unsafe As I grew up here in Morocco and more precisely in Temara, I was able to see
and observe terrible scenes just in front of my eyes. People getting threatened with knifes or these
small razor blades that they put in their mouth to hide it, and if you don't do what they want, they
will mark a scar on your face. These pictures were so shocking that they remained in my head for
many years. As a matter of fact, my friends and I did our best to avoid empty and dark streets when
returning from school especially when it's the night to prevent getting mugged or even aggressed
with no reason.
When I was about 10, years old my parents did not let me play far from our house I couldn't figure
out why until one day a friend of my neighbor got mugged and stabbed with a small knife just
because he tried to run away from danger to safety. Sometimes a small disagreement or
misunderstanding can escalate into people harming each other, and as a consequence, one or both of
them can die or become disabled for the rest of their life. Furthermore, Morocco was known and still
an unsafe place, it doesn't matter if you are going to the supermarket 200 meters away from your

Financial problems is the central aspect of crime and to be more specific mugging and robbery, but
in some other situations money has no power when it comes to excitement or even reputation. For

Repair or Replacement of Non–working Street Lights The repair or replacement of non–working
street lights in several areas of the city has caused hazardous driving conditions due to low visibility.
The city has decided to make the repair and replacement of these lights a priority.
Identifying the problem: Although the city has already stated that nonworking street lights has the
culprit to the problem the real problem is low visibility. At what level of light output is conditions
considered acceptable; for instance is a 1000 watt bulb considered adequate for 500 feet of road? Is
this acceptable for all roads? Is a residential area roads need different lighting requirements as a

what is considered adequate lighting, with no data to compare one must just say yes I can see better

reduction after achieving certain lighting result all the assumed data in this paper is fiction. It might
be assumed from the above statement that I would believe that more steps need to be added,
however I do believe that the steps are sufficient, possibly the only step I could add is a reevaluation
step, but I believe the achieved by testing the results step. I eluded early in the paper that the putting

Advanced Development Adaptive Systems For Energy Essay
Abstract
This paper aims at designing and executing the advanced development in adaptive systems for
energy saving of street lights. Nowadays, human has become too busy, and is unable to find time
even to switch the lights wherever not necessary. The present system is like, the street lights will be
switched on in the evening before the sun sets and they are switched off the next day morning after
there is sufficient light on the roads. This paper gives the best solution for electrical power wastage.
Also the manual operation of the lighting system is completely eliminated. In this paper the two
sensors are used which are Light Dependent Resistor LDR
Sensor to indicate a day/night time and the motion sensors to detect the movement on the street. The
Controller that has been designed is used as brain to control the street light system, where the
finally, the system has been successfully designed and implemented as prototype system.

The Replacement Of High Pressure Sodium Vapour Lamps (...
1.0 INTRODUCTION
1.1 Purpose and Background of Report
This Technical Report was developed by Omnibus Industries (OI) for the City of Thorold in
response to their Request for Proposal (RFP) for the replacement of High–Pressure Sodium Vapour
Lamps (HPSV) street lights on Main and Ferry Street. The following material will describe the
benefits of Light–Emitting Diode (LED) lighting compared to the current HPSV lighting used by
many municipalities. Also this report evaluates the benefits LED lighting technology can provide for
the City of Thorold as a possible energy efficient light source.
The City of Thorold is in need of 30 HPSV street lights to be replaced on Main and Ferry St. The
street lights are outdated and are near the end of their lifetime. The current condition of the lights
pose danger to motorist and pedestrians because of the lack of lighting the old HPSV provide to the
two streets. Fast action is required to eliminate the hazardous road conditions and provide the City
of Thorold with the most effective source of street lighting.
The location of current HPSV street lights to be replaced on Ferry and Main St are shown in Figure
1. The yellow dots represent the position of the HPSV lights. Figure 2 displays the average distance
between the current street lights shown in Figure 1.

Dystopian Setting
The city that once had homed thousands and been the most economically successful country ever,
was now a contaminated wasteland. The land looked dry, destroyed and lonely. The morning breeze
felt like crying sorrows, and the grey deceitful sky awed down at us. In the deepest corner of despair

Only visible by the dim light of the moon was the great wall. Beyond the wall? No one knew.
Stretching away from the wall was a humongous bridge that towered the wall. Standing tall on the
bridge was a tower, which had two circles that almost looked like eyes. Those mysterious, creepy
and dangerous looking eyes stared down at the city giving away a haunting look.
The reek of death hangs in the air throughout the land. Filling the mouths of those who lived in this
abandoned land was the taste of burnt garlic. The screams and cries of terror undistinguishable
between beast and human fill the ears of the last ones living. The sky, which was lit by the glow of

ash like smoke. Aggressively, the wind walked past the building with its cruddy feeling, blowing

Despite the frustration that arises every time one realizes that he or she would arrive at a location
later, this device serves a crucial role in modern society. To begin, the brief pause in one's journey
caused by this object can contribute more to society than merely regulate the flow of traffic.
According to research done in Australia, traffic lights aid people to conserve this planet's air quality
(Dumé). Since traffic lights control the movement of traffic and tell drivers when it is appropriate to
move their vehicles, one would be able to maintain the motion of this automobile more smoothly.
This action would allow the transportation system from releasing excessive car emissions, which are
discharged when a vehicle unexpectedly and necessarily brakes, stops, or accelerates. Moreover, the
traffic light serves an essential purpose in society, which is public safety (Why Are Traffic Lights So
Important?). The most frequent accidents are caused by the lack of infrastructure (World Health
Organization). Therefore, to retain order and more safety, there must be more fundamental rules, like
traffic lights, which could physically be seen by a driver so he or she would restrain from moving
the position of his or her vehicle at a certain point. Finally, although traffic lights were invented to

Tough Times in the Song: Sound of Silence by by Simon and...
In this song Sound of Silence the author/writer of this song went through many tough times in his
life to make this a popular hit. Their first recording of the album which was released and finished
early Wednesday morning. They soon realized it wasn't a big hit and there band split up and went
their separate directions. Soon after many months without the knowledge of Garfunkel and Simon,
Columbia Records stepped in and modified their song and added many new instruments like guitar,
bass, drums to make it more interesting and popular. This new version then was released in
September 1965 to the public which it was a major sellout. It was originally called "Sounds of
Silence" but after their next release they changed the title to just "Sound of Silence". The title of this
song showed itself to be an oxymoron and that it's a figure of speech. As there are no sounds when
there is silence. What it is trying to say is that when you are ignored all you are surrounded with is
silence. The creators of the song worked a tremendous amount to put this song together and finally
made it a successful hit in the past.
The song "Sounds of Silence" by Simon and Garfunkel is a very catchy song because of the
rhyming and also has many of the poem language and diction already in it which makes it a very
interesting tune to listen to. My first impressions of the song were in a positive manner. It first come

They cause concern and stress upon themselves because of what the media says. The central theme
that exists within the episode is that words are mankind's greatest weapon. I believe that words may
not be able to physically hurt someone, but they can emotionally. Emotional pain is sometimes
harder to endure than physical pain. In the neighborhood, some of the neighbors like Les Goodman
are accused of being a suspect because his car randomly turned on, while everyone else's didn't start.
Though he has no effect on the aliens, a woman claims that she has seen him look up at the sky late
at night, as though he is waiting for something. She thinks he is waiting for the aliens or something
from outer space. Therefore Goodman becomes an immediate suspicion to all the neighbors.
Everyone in the neighborhood is now more aware of him, claiming that his family isn't human, but
aliens. The woman was being the real monster to society because she had no idea what she was
talking about and jumps to conclusion about Les Goodman. Since she made a comment that didn't
have supported evidence, she dug Les Goodman into a hole, making people think he is an alien
because everyone starts to believe her. This episode conveys propaganda to the audience. Everyone

propaganda occurs in the media. We are informed about a

Analysis Of Street Light By Giacomo Balla
I chose to travel to the Museum of Modern Art for this assignment. Once I was there, I wasn't sure
which artwork I wanted to focus my analysis on. At first I was overwhelmed by the sheer enormity
of the museum (I have never been), but after a little while I gained my bearings and began to explore
for 20th century art. After viewing many of the paintings that we discussed in depth in class and
many that we did not, I decided to write my analysis on "Street Light," by Giacomo Balla. I chose
this painting because the colors and aspects of it intrigue me. I am also familiar with it, which can
help aid me in my analysis. I was extremely interested when we discussed Futurism in class, and I
was happy that I could find something in the Museum of Modern Art that had to do with that
particular movement, especially a painting that we touched upon. The painting itself was much
larger than I anticipated in person, and stood taller than me the way it was mounted on the wall. The
colors were more vibrant than any picture online could convey, and I found that I had to restrain
myself from physically touching the lines of color that symbolized the street lamps light. Up close, I
was able to notice the finer details of the work. The lines seemed a little messier and more hastily
painted than I had originally thought, however, this added to the movement of the piece overall. I
found myself wishing that the lines of color pushed to the boundaries of the painting rather than

everyone is nice to each other and not lousy or mean. About two months ago, my mother bought our
first home. My house looks like a duplex because there are two entrances, one on the left and right
and it also has two drive ways. Turning into my neighborhood you right away see that it is a dead
end street, and has very few houses one each side of the road. There is not really anything that grabs
one's attention where I live, except a 2017 mustang that is parked next door, or how many stray cats
there live here.. Other than that a true attention catcher is our neighbors well kept yard. They have
bushes along the driveway shaped into a beautiful square. And colorful flowers in their neat front
yard. Their grass is also much greener than anyone else's. You can tell they care about their yard a
lot because they have a landscaper come every week. There are also two schools that are across the
street, a charter high school that is to the left of an elementary school. What I do like about my
neighborhood is that the streets are very wide, wider than usual which gives everyone an advantage.
It was so convenient that we lived right across the street from an elementary school. I thought to
myself "I have younger siblings that could go there!" But they really couldn't – the school is only
from 1st–5th grade and my sisters were just in 6th and 7th grade. In the mornings are usually when I

My Experience At Erin 's Place
My breathing is steady and shallow, the exhales causing slight disturbances in the fog around me,
my shoes making a constant smack, smack on the pavement. The mist acts like a thin blanket,
dampening my senses, making the world just a little quieter, a little calmer. All around me are the
sounds and smells of pure, serene nighttime. To my left is the pond; ducks are huddled along the
shoreline, sometimes ruffling their feathers or making a sleepy murmur. I just passed the campus
daycare, the windows are all dark and the playground is empty; the swing creaks back and forth
slightly... There must be a breeze.
I'm on my way back from a long night of studying. It's around 2AM, the cafeteria in the university
hall is open all the time so students can study late for upcoming finals. I'm not much of a cram–
studier so I'm way ahead and I don't have any exams for a few days.
I should have made plans to stay at Erin's place. She lives on campus in the dorms and she gave me
a copy of her key (which is completely against the rules, by the way, but she figured I might need a
place to crash if I ever got too drunk at a campus party), but I'm pretty sure she won't appreciate me
storming in at 2AM when she, unlike me, has an exam in the morning. I brought the key with me in
case I was too tired to walk home; but alas, coffee is a brilliant invention, and if anything I feel wide
awake, so I silently review the topics I'm finished going over... Riemann Sums... multivariable

  • 2. Perspective Essay on the Code of the Streets Perspective Essay on The Code of the Streets Culture in urban communities, also referred to as inner–cities, are growing increasingly violent. In the article, The Code of the Streets by Elijah Anderson, he begins to take an in–depth look at the root of the evil. He deduces that economic factors, parenting and the troublesome environments largely influence the violent norms within this culture. Anderson notes that two groups coexist simultaneously in the inner–cities which he labels as the "decent" and the "streets." Although both groups suffer economic difficulties, they differ in values mainly instilled through parenting and the home environment. The decent group seeks to adopt mainstream middle–class values, such as a love, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Robberies, violence and drug–dealing transgressions are a constant fear of many. The decent families although opposed to the norms of the ghetto, encourage their children to understand and respect the code of the streets in an effort to protect themselves. Also, many youths in the inner– cities try to behave as others within their sub–culture. A child might dress or speak a certain way that a race is labeled to be standard to fit in. For example, a Caucasian individual may dress in baggy clothes and speak in slang in public to imitate what people label the African American youth to be uniform. However, this individual in some instances could act completely different at home or in other environments such as family gatherings or church. Anderson begins to analyze the troubled culture by first looking at the home environment and behaviors during childhood. The values differ drastically between the two groups. He states that the decent families are typically working families and try to instill positive values in their children. They hope to provide a nurturing environment and aid their children in pursuing a successful future. They are involved in their performance in school and have home rules to abide by. They have curfews for their children and generally know where and whom they are with at all times, especially young children. They try to prepare their children for the unknown and possible confrontations with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Patrick Slush Descriptive Writing There is nothing more terribly beautiful than the snow stricken streets of New York City. Beneath a greying evening sky, and between tall buildings of steel, are big flakes of swirling snow that drift and lightly cover every street lamp, branch, shoulder and patch of pavement untouched by moving feet. Patrick Sole, a man without a home, is slumped, in wet, grey slush, against a brick wall. He does not twitch, he does not tremble. And if white begins to blanket his tattered coat, and if his frostnipped fingers begin to numb; well, he does not stir. For how long he has sat there, he does not know, for he looks and feels as white as a ghost. With an icy puff of breath, Patrick blinks slowly and blankly observes the blur of faces before him. As the evening sky blackens, the bustle of the street grows noisier and is lit vividly by street lamps, lights, cars and electronic billboards. It is at that moment Patrick wonders: how can one be so lonely in a city with over nineteen million souls? Patrick is so lost in melancholy that he does not notice a wet nose nudge his gloved hand. And then there is Patrick, frozen in place, watching crowds dart by heedless of him, the dog, and his suffering. The heaviness in his heart continues to grow and grow, weighing him down and filling his chest. It would appear so that if his heart were to collapse under the weight, then an avalanche of his pain would fall and crush the entire city. • 4. College Admissions Essay There was a warm breeze that Friday in September when I packed my two large bags, kissed my family and friends good–bye, and left my home. Thus the greatest adventure of my life was begun. On my first day of studying in France, I woke up early and took a quasi–shower, which consisted of sprinkling myself with water for hours until all the soap finally drained out of my hair. My dressing procedures were followed by a silent breakfast that consisted of some bitter–tasting, dark liquid and a hard, bread–like substance. The bread I ate dry, for fear of the dark scary–looking pot of jam. I packed my books and headed off for class. As soon as I left my street, a man on a bike stared at me as he passed. Several students passed me, and they all said, "Does she not know how to cross the street? Maybe she needs someone to hold her hand." When I got through the stone wall that surrounds my city, there was a small bar, where men sat outside drinking hard liquor at 8:00 in the morning. They all stared at me as I passed and thought seriously about surrounding me and harassing me until I screamed for help. I walked carefully down the narrow sidewalk of the street, until I passed a man walking the opposite way. He tried to run me off the sidewalk and scowled at me just for being in his way. He thought, "I wish these Americans would learn how to walk." Not long after that, there was a strange and straggly looking man in my path. He tried to stop me by asking me a question, but I kept walking. I didn't understand the question because he said it in French, but I'm pretty sure he was just trying to torture and embarrass me. When I passed the cafe just outside of my school, there were a number of beautiful people drinking their morning coffees. They all stared at me in disgust as I passed, thinking, "if we don't get these ugly Americans out of our country soon . . ."

As I make my way to the venue I look out the window of the car and think to myself how much I am going to enjoy this night. It is the sight of an exaggerated amount of teenage angst immaculately aligned outside in the freezing cold. The streets are loud, the atmosphere is exciting, the wind is so cold that it feels like it is cutting into my skin. We are walking towards a lengthy line of people that gathered here tonight to sing their lungs out, dance until their feet hurt and make memories. Downtown is usually busy, but tonight it feels different. The enormous amount of cars making the air smell like pure gasoline, people wandering down the streets asking strangers for a dollar, piles of trash left by people who spent the night on the streets to get a closer glimpse of their favorite band tonight. Hundreds of people are here tonight, waiting for a moment that they hope will be unforgettable. The 555 can be used to provide time delays, as an oscillator, and as a flip–flop element. Derivatives provide up to four timing circuits in one package. The IC was designed in 1971 by Hans R. The Importance Of Street Lights VILLANUEVA, Felizsa Lynne V. ` BA Political Science 2014 – 44604 Political Science 197 Review of Literature Improved traffic safety for pedestrians and cyclists is an important goal of public health policies in countries throughout the world. The World Health Organization (WHO) has identified traffic injuries and fatalities as among the world's 5 most important causes of unnatural death, with predictions that they will become the leading cause by 2030. As of 2015, they were already the leading cause of unnatural death among persons in the group aged 15 to 29 years. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Proper use of street lighting can be considered as a protective method which provides economic and social benefits to the people. Surveys have shown that the public are in favour of street lighting as a way of improving road safety and that, if anything, it needs to be improved in some areas. In some locations, a reduction in lighting quality may not increase the risk of an accident. However, there is the danger that an unconsidered removal or reduction in quality could actually increase accidents and their severity. Therefore, rates should be monitored to ensure that sacrificing the quality of lighting does not unduly increase the risk. Increases in risk may ultimately lead to lives being lost. A literature review of studies relating the presence of lighting to accident reduction concluded that "On urban main roads, with mainly a traffic function, a reduction in accidents involving injuries of approximately 30% can be expected at night following an improvement in the lighting from very bad to good" A Japanese report that looked at the reduction in accidents at junctions, following the provision of lighting, found that there was a 43% reduction in night–time accidents. It also found that the effectiveness of lighting in preventing accidents depended on its illuminance, and that the brighter the lighting, the better it is at preventing accidents. However it did not define an upper limit to brightness beyond which further brightening would have no, or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The poor were seen as a raw material in the same class as wool and cotton. They were cheap to employ and easy to replace. Those that looked down on workers failed to see that working conditions in textile mills were why workers were afflicted with conditions for which no treatment existed. These early morning people move in procession through the streets, uniting with others at street junctions to form broader streams, merging with other streams as they neared the mill to form a grand current of humanity closing on the massive iron gates of the mill that were symbols of imprisonment. They were incorporating live instrumentals while adding pre–recorded keys, loops, and drums kits, and this started the transformation stage to electronic. When thinking of the alternative, city funded security, the first thing that comes to mind is policemen. When driving down and around North Gaines street, it was easily seen that this was the preferred method of security. Cars were parked on the street, and streetlights were few and far between. Moreover, windows had been re– placed by wooden boards, removing the security of being able to lock them. I was really stressed because i'm not used to having people shouting all the time. But I was not packing or downstairs I was upstairs watching our pets, all three of them. My house was a mad hose for the whole day with movers yelling "No that goes in the uhaul!" or " that goes into the truck!". But on top of all that chaos my sister was yelling and screaming saying " I DON'T WANNA LEAVE!" The day way crazy until it turned dark when all the movers had put every box, pillow, and couch into the right truck. Finally all the movers were gone and we had everything packed. I was happy that that time was over. All I needed to to now was go inside and grab the pets so we can get going. Suddenly, as I turned to go inside and grab the animals I saw that the movers left the front door wide open. Fear suddenly rose up inside me like a rocket going into the air. I was worried. • 29. Descriptive Essay A sudden shiver ran through my body, I awoke and realize that the sudden jolt that ran through my body was at the cause of airplane turbulence. Airplane turbulence? I wonder why I was on an airplane, I looked left, I looked behind and in front, and I acknowledged everyone is within their own minds right now, dreaming of a vast array of ideas and desires. I frantically look around in the brand new airplane, with the comfort of plush cloth seats and a soft silky blanket at my feet, but either way I was still trying to decipher where I was heading and why I was here, but as I felt a sudden descent , my eyes veered toward to the tiny window as realization engulfs me; I know where I am. I witnessed the scattered city lights along a vast flat piece of land, where the energy beneath me twirled, I knew, I was home. Well, not literally home, but rather my spiritual home, which are the cities of Zapopan and Guadalajara in my beloved country of Mexico. I walked into the airport and I felt the heat surrounding me, the people staring and my bright green luggage bags waiting. I walked outside through the revolving doors and the first thing I noticed were the street vendors and I smelled the intriguing scent of food around me. I enter one of the glaring yellow taxis found everywhere throughout the city streets. I notice how worn out they have become with the upholstery tattered, the seats stained of who knows what, and with the scent of a brand new car absent but now of an overpowering ... • 30. Descriptive Essay On Dystopia Dystopian Setting The city that once had homed thousands and been the most economically successful country ever, was now a contaminated wasteland. The land looked dry, destroyed and lonely. The morning breeze felt like crying sorrows, and the grey deceitful sky awed down at us. In the deepest corner of despair lies dystopia where hope dies. As someone looks through the eyes of the devil, they see his utopia. Only visible by the dim light of the moon was the great wall. Beyond the wall? No one knew. Stretching away from the wall was a humongous bridge that towered the wall. Standing tall on the bridge was a tower, which had two circles that almost looked like eyes. Those mysterious, creepy and dangerous looking eyes stared down at the city giving away a haunting look. The reek of death hangs in the air throughout the land. Filling the mouths of those who lived in this abandoned land was the taste of burnt garlic. The screams and cries of terror undistinguishable between beast and human fill the ears of the last ones living. The sky, which was lit by the glow of fires, is grey and empty. As I carried on walking, I noticed that the small fraction of light was getting smaller and smaller, until it had been engulfed into a think black ash like smoke. Aggressively, the wind walked past the building with its cruddy feeling, blowing away all signs of life. Deeper and deeper into the land was a burning car door. The fire roared and crackled. The roaring and crackling of the burning car door merged with the aggressive air and created the loudest sounds ever heard on land. Growing darker, the skies made me feel nauseous. • 31. Traffic Lights In Victorian England An aristocratic family of four await in their horse–drawn carriage for the local pedestrians to cross the busy streets of Victorian England. The chilly winds of late December froze the family amidst the loud but muffled conversations from all of the other Victorians who were struggling to reach home for Christmas. Suddenly, intricately detailed, delicate pieces of white dust began to sprinkle from the darkening, evening sky. A deafening sound echoed from the muffled noises, causing chaos within the close–packed rows of carriages and pedestrians on broad streets of the capital. An impatient man leaped out of the luxurious coach and charged towards the shivering walkers, who were struggling to determine whether or not they should cross the crowded ... Despite the frustration that arises every time one realizes that he or she would arrive at a location later, this device serves a crucial role in modern society. To begin, the brief pause in one's journey caused by this object can contribute more to society than merely regulate the flow of traffic. According to research done in Australia, traffic lights aid people to conserve this planet's air quality (Dumé). Since traffic lights control the movement of traffic and tell drivers when it is appropriate to move their vehicles, one would be able to maintain the motion of this automobile more smoothly. This action would allow the transportation system from releasing excessive car emissions, which are discharged when a vehicle unexpectedly and necessarily brakes, stops, or accelerates. Moreover, the traffic light serves an essential purpose in society, which is public safety (Why Are Traffic Lights So Important?). The most frequent accidents are caused by the lack of infrastructure (World Health Organization). Therefore, to retain order and more safety, there must be more fundamental rules, like traffic lights, which could physically be seen by a driver so he or she would restrain from moving the position of his or her vehicle at a certain point. Finally, although traffic lights were invented to ensure that the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Tough Times in the Song: Sound of Silence by by Simon and... In this song Sound of Silence the author/writer of this song went through many tough times in his life to make this a popular hit. Their first recording of the album which was released and finished early Wednesday morning. They soon realized it wasn't a big hit and there band split up and went their separate directions. Soon after many months without the knowledge of Garfunkel and Simon, Columbia Records stepped in and modified their song and added many new instruments like guitar, bass, drums to make it more interesting and popular. This new version then was released in September 1965 to the public which it was a major sellout. It was originally called "Sounds of Silence" but after their next release they changed the title to just "Sound of Silence". The title of this song showed itself to be an oxymoron and that it's a figure of speech. As there are no sounds when there is silence. What it is trying to say is that when you are ignored all you are surrounded with is silence. The creators of the song worked a tremendous amount to put this song together and finally made it a successful hit in the past. The song "Sounds of Silence" by Simon and Garfunkel is a very catchy song because of the rhyming and also has many of the poem language and diction already in it which makes it a very interesting tune to listen to. My first impressions of the song were in a positive manner. It first come out with "Hello darkness, my old friend" showing that he is in the dark and does not know ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Descriptive Essay The saxophone jazz and chatter from inside creepily faded into the dark streets. I was lurking outside the bar and quickly pacing back and forth against the window. I looked up and down the empty and dark street before quickly pausing to stare into the bar window. The room glowed between the broken blinds. I searched carefully, standing on my toes to see the full expanse of the room. People were dancing against each other, laughing and spilling drinks. Everyone orbited around a band in the middle of the room, as they swung their instruments creating sultry jazz. My eyes landed on a girl sitting alone, her body almost entirely eclipsed by shadows and creepy red glows. I stole looks, my wet eyes tracing down her body and through her shining hair, hypnotized by the lights trailing across her glowing skin. I chewed harder at the soggy toothpick I held in my lips. Suddenly, I saw a pair of shadows cross the window towards the door and instantly I turned my back and leaned against the window, reaching for a box of camels in my jean pocket. The bar door shuddered open and jazz escaped into the streets until the door crashed shut behind them. A laughing couple stumbled out of the darkness and into the flickering streetlight. From the shadows, I watched them closely, bringing a dry cigarette to my lips. I flicked a lighter and cuffed a hand around the flame. With a sizzle, the orange flame weakly illuminated my hungry eyes as they followed the drunken couple down the street. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The central theme that exists within the episode is that words are mankind's greatest weapon. I believe that words may not be able to physically hurt someone, but they can emotionally. Emotional pain is sometimes harder to endure than physical pain. In the neighborhood, some of the neighbors like Les Goodman are accused of being a suspect because his car randomly turned on, while everyone else's didn't start. Though he has no effect on the aliens, a woman claims that she has seen him look up at the sky late at night, as though he is waiting for something. She thinks he is waiting for the aliens or something from outer space. Therefore Goodman becomes an immediate suspicion to all the neighbors. Everyone in the neighborhood is now more aware of him, claiming that his family isn't human, but aliens. The woman was being the real monster to society because she had no idea what she was talking about and jumps to conclusion about Les Goodman. Since she made a comment that didn't have supported evidence, she dug Les Goodman into a hole, making people think he is an alien because everyone starts to believe her. • 35. Descriptive Essay About Home My definition for home is indescribable by word or by a simple thought, but home is rather of a feeling. Home is the calmness and serenity that settles over me like a blanket on a cold, snowy night, just a silent assurance telling me I belong there. It took me quite a bit of time to understand where exactly that place is, and I didn't know that the answer was always right in front of me. This feeling would come and go, and I would never recognize it because I knew that only the house I lived in was my home. Home is in fact more than what the words in the dictionary say. At lunchtime, I sat there along with all those workers, eating with them and listening. Their conversations mostly consist of the weather and how they could improve the rice farm. Often, I would make a comment saying, "Don't worry, I will help", and they loved me. I was the farm's little helper–––this is my home. • 36. Thomas Journey It was a cold December night on Huckleberry Lane and all the world seemed to be asleep. The wind swept through the small town of Hampton that morning, encasing the whole town in a thin sheet of snow that stuck to the streets. School children had celebrated with joyous cries as the flakes kissed the ground. The games and snow fights filled the streets of Hampton had filled the day with laughter and pink–tinted cheeks. Once darkness began to arrive, mothers called to their children with the promise of warm soups and flaky desserts. • 37. A Short Story : A Story? Steve and Gregg were in the dining room getting everything set up. Tomorrow was the party and they wanted everything to be perfect. It was how their father would have wanted it. They set up the decorations and got candles and silverware out and ready. Willard and crew cleaned the dining area so well, you could eat off of the floor. Of course no one was going to, but it was still possible. "Hey Steve, wanna toss me those cups?" Gregg said to his brother. "Are you sure that is a good idea?" Steve said with doubt. "Oh come on, don't think I can catch it?" "No, it's just I don't want to have to clean up another broken glass." Gregg laughed, "I was just messing around. Come on, man." Gregg waved his hands in the air to signal he was ready to catch. Steve just simply rolled his eyes and smiled. He tossed the glass cup and it flew into the air. "I got it!" Gregg said putting his hands out to welcome the glass into his arms. He backed up and caught the cup as it came to the ground. Gregg gripped to the cup and lifted it into the air. "Wow. I am very impressed," Steve said in a sarcastic tone while smiling. He loved to tease his older brother. "Why thank you!" Gregg said, but while he was celebrating his grand victory, the cup slipped out of his hand and collided to the ground. It shattered into hundreds of big and small pieces. • 38. Analysis Of Street Light By Giacomo Balla I chose to travel to the Museum of Modern Art for this assignment. Once I was there, I wasn't sure which artwork I wanted to focus my analysis on. At first I was overwhelmed by the sheer enormity of the museum (I have never been), but after a little while I gained my bearings and began to explore for 20th century art. After viewing many of the paintings that we discussed in depth in class and many that we did not, I decided to write my analysis on "Street Light," by Giacomo Balla. I chose this painting because the colors and aspects of it intrigue me. I am also familiar with it, which can help aid me in my analysis. I was extremely interested when we discussed Futurism in class, and I was happy that I could find something in the Museum of Modern Art that had to do with that particular movement, especially a painting that we touched upon. The painting itself was much larger than I anticipated in person, and stood taller than me the way it was mounted on the wall. The colors were more vibrant than any picture online could convey, and I found that I had to restrain myself from physically touching the lines of color that symbolized the street lamps light. Up close, I was able to notice the finer details of the work. The lines seemed a little messier and more hastily painted than I had originally thought, however, this added to the movement of the piece overall. I found myself wishing that the lines of color pushed to the boundaries of the painting rather than ending before ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Descriptive Essay About My Neighborhood In between the busy streets of 35th avenue and 43rd lies my silent and kind neighborhood. Where everyone is nice to each other and not lousy or mean. About two months ago, my mother bought our first home. My house looks like a duplex because there are two entrances, one on the left and right and it also has two drive ways. Turning into my neighborhood you right away see that it is a dead end street, and has very few houses one each side of the road. There is not really anything that grabs one's attention where I live, except a 2017 mustang that is parked next door, or how many stray cats there live here.. Other than that a true attention catcher is our neighbors well kept yard. They have bushes along the driveway shaped into a beautiful square. And colorful flowers in their neat front yard. Their grass is also much greener than anyone else's. You can tell they care about their yard a lot because they have a landscaper come every week. There are also two schools that are across the street, a charter high school that is to the left of an elementary school. What I do like about my neighborhood is that the streets are very wide, wider than usual which gives everyone an advantage. It was so convenient that we lived right across the street from an elementary school. I thought to myself "I have younger siblings that could go there!" But they really couldn't – the school is only from 1st–5th grade and my sisters were just in 6th and 7th grade. In the mornings are usually when I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The mist acts like a thin blanket, dampening my senses, making the world just a little quieter, a little calmer. All around me are the sounds and smells of pure, serene nighttime. To my left is the pond; ducks are huddled along the shoreline, sometimes ruffling their feathers or making a sleepy murmur.
