The Actions of Three Great Men and How They Made Canada...
The Actions of Three Great Men and How They Made Canada Stronger Throughout Canadian
history, we experienced many events that made our country both stronger and weaker. At times,
we were looked upon as a nation with great potential, great peacekeeping service, and even a
nation where its citizens were proud to be Canadian. Although, Canada did show signs of
negativity as some of our actions made us look like terrible people and overall others had a weak
view of the nation. During the 20th century, there were however 3 men that did prove that they did
what they did not just only for themselves, but for the commonwealth of the population. These 3
men, William Lyon Mackenzie King, Lester Bowles Pearson, and Pierre Elliot Trudeau shaped...

There were some issues in the system and how it operated but overall, Canada s elderly were
given financial help that most needed in order to survive. This was a piece of Canada that was able
to become stronger in the sense of stability. Aside from the Old Age Pension Act, King also created
the Unemployment Insurance Act, which are social welfare payments given to the unemployed
population. At first, the Unemployment Act excluded many types of employment such as
agriculture, and jobs that earned more than $2,000 per year (Makarenko, 1). This was the
responsibility of the provinces, but after acquiring unanimous provincial consent, he made it
become a federal issue (Makarenko, 1). The British Parliament made a change to the British North
American Act (now the Canadian Constitution) stating that unemployment insurance was now a
federal power and not a provincial power (Makarenko, 1). King introduced a nationwide public
system of unemployment insurance, which was funded by employees, employers, and the federal
government (Makarenko, 1). This action helped Canada become stronger due to the fact that it
provided an income for the people who couldn t work due to maternity issues, amputations, and
illness. Now, the people who couldn t support themselves had relief from the government which
abled them to be able to survive and keep poverty on a lower scale. With these 3 actions that

Solving the Foreclosure Crisis- Decrease Interest Rates,...
Foreclosure is an important issue in the United States and needs to be ended or decreased
rapidly as soon as possible for the sake of America s economy. The foreclosure of homes has
decreased the state of the economy, and rendered millions of Americans homeless. There are four
key solutions that will stop foreclosures in the United States and able millions of American to keep
their homes. The first solution is having banks lower their interest rates for all citizens who are in
financial need of an interest rate deduction. The second solution is creating jobs that are able to
sustain through an economic crisis. The third solution is for states and towns to conduct public
seminars on how to manage and budget ones finances during financially... Show more content on

The disadvantages of having banks lower their interest rates are, people may feel less obligated to
pay their mortgage payments on time because the interest rates are lower, despite the jobs that are
available through people owning homes there still may not be enough jobs to go around causing
there to be very little change in the amount of homes in foreclosure. Creating jobs that are able to
sustain through an economic crisis will stop foreclosures because if citizens lose their jobs in an
economic crisis they will be able to quickly find another job. This would be beneficial in the fight
to end foreclosures because people would have the funds to pay their mortgage and any other
financial obligations. How one would go about creating new jobs is by developing new
technology, products, and services that would change the way people live their everyday life while
helping them to save money. Hybrid vehicles are an example of a new technology that has
currently kept and created new jobs for citizens in the U.S. Hybrid vehicles are perfect examples
of a new technology that has changed the way people live their life while helping them to save
money. There are two types of hybrid vehicles such as, hybrid electric vehicles (HEV s), and plug
in hybrid vehicles (PHEV s). Hybrid electric vehicles save money through regenerative braking in

Ancient Egyptian Hieroglyphics And The Rosetta Stone
Ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics was one of Egypt s great mysteries that were very difficult to
figure out. Hieroglyphics are pictures or symbols that represent words, used in the writing
system of ancient Egypt. The word hieroglyphic is Greek and literally means holy writings . So
it would make since that Pharaohs names were written in hieroglyphics in their tombs because
they were considered powerful and righteous. Thus, what was the key to unlock the translation
of the hieroglyphics? The Rosetta Stone was discovered in 1799, by French soldiers who were
building a fort near the Egyptian village of Rosetta. The soldiers noticed a dark, grey stone of
granite sticking out of the ground that was attached to a wall inside of an ottoman fortress. They
dug the piece of stone out and it stood about four feet tall and two and a half feet wide. With closer
examination they realized it contained lines of writing. The soldiers notified the chief general in
Egypt, Jacques Francoise Menou, because they understood that they have discovered something
valuable. Months later, the stone was shipped to Napoleon for greater inspection.... Show more

General Menou actually tried to take the stone as his personal property, but the English realized its
value and the British captured Egypt in 1801 and transferred the Rosetta Stone to the British
Museum. Scholars did examine the writing on the Rosetta Stone, but their work went on very
sluggishly because parts of the stone had crumbled. The Rosetta Stone was engraved with two
languages, Egyptian and Greek. The stone used three scripts: Egyptian hieroglyphic, Egyptian
demotic, and Greek. Scholars revealed that the Greek writing might give clues to the meaning of the

The Problem Of Cyber Security Solutions
The seemingly exponential growth of the Internet has resulted in a largely unforeseen increase in
the type, frequency and variety of cyber attacks[20]. These attacks can be very expensive and
difficult from which to recover. Because of this there is a need to know what traffic should be
permitted and what is malicious[22]. To this end there are many well known cyber security
solutions are in place to counteract these attacks such as firewalls, anti virus software and IDS
(Intrusion Detection System) [23]. Many of these require manual analysis however and approaches
such as relying on host dependencies, profiling host behaviors or using deep packet inspection have
been developed. These approaches have scalability issues though making them less than optimum in
high speed networks [23]. The generation of Big Data over computer networks is quickly making
all of these solutions somewhat obsolete though. To alleviate this problem and enhance the overall
level of a system s security, the application of Big Data Analytics techniques to cybersecurity have
become an area of great interest. These applications can be used to assist those administrating
networks in the monitoring and real time detection of anomalous behavior in network streams[20].
An intrusion detection system (IDS), as mentioned previously is a cyber security solution designed
to defend against network attacks. It however does not prevent attacks like an Intrusion Prevention
System (IPS) [27]. It is considered

The Importance Of Florida Lawn Pests
For many homeowners, South Florida is a paradise where mere lawns and yards can become
luscious landscapes. But families aren t the only ones to enjoy the tropical outdoors. Florida
outdoor pests can endanger the grounds around your home. Controlling Florida lawn pests are an
important part of South Florida life.
Among the common kinds of Florida outdoor pests are chinch bugs, which can cause major plant
damage. Whiteflies often attack and even kill ficus trees and hedges by feeding on the undersides
of leaves. They ve become a major part of Florida yard pests and can cause plant leaves to yellow
or drop off entirely, often covering the plant with flocculent, a white sticky material.
Pink hibiscus flowers may be lovely in your yard, but the

A Brief History Of Dallas
Little more than a century after Dallas was founded in 1841, the population had exceeded 425,000
people; by the time another 60 years had passed, more than 1.2 million people resided within the
city limits of Dallas. The population continues to grow, making Dallas one of the nation s fastest
growing municipalities. Such explosive growth requires housing for the residents and commercial
buildings for new and expanding businesses. At Alpha Roofing, we help people in Dallas make
sure that the roofscovering their homes and businesses can keep them secure. We install asphalt
shingles, commercial roofs, metal roofing systems, flat roofs, gutters, attic insulation, skylights and
siding. We also offer an extensive range of repair services.

Businesses could lose their inventory and important documents, while homeowners could lose
cherished heirlooms or irreplaceable photographs. If you want to ensure that your structure has a
roof that will provide proper protection, you may be in need of one or more of the following
services offered by Alpha Roofing.
Residential Roofing: An aged roof may need a complete replacement, but there are many roofs
that suffer hail and wind damage that can be repaired for much less money. If a few shingles
have been blown off or cracked by hail, the flashing has been broken or there is evidence that a
leak has developed, you might want to consider a professional repair. At Alpha, we handle roof
repairs, install asphalt shingles, repair chimneys and install gutters and siding.
Commercial Roofing: The integrity of the roof on a commercial building is critical if you want to
protect the building s contents as well as the safety of customers, employees and tenants. Many
commercial buildings in Dallas use modified bitumen systems for their flat roofs, but if these
systems are installed incorrectly, they can fail quickly. Commercial buildings with sloping roofs
often complex lines, turrets or other architectural features that require a roofing company with the
skills and facilities for metal fabrication. Whether you need custom panels, gutters, attic vents or
special accessories, Alpha Roofing has the personnel and equipment to

Wound Care Education
Wound Care Education
Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to identify a patient health issue that would benefit from patient
education. During the clinical rotation at Jackson South the group identified a need in wound care
especially for patients with other underlying health issues such as diabetes. A large percentage of
patients had wounds that would require patients to properly care for them once discharged. The
group identified a lack of patient knowledge on how to care for these wounds and decided to
develop a patient education pamphlet to teach patients how to care for wounds while not in a
hospital setting. The group identified one particular patient that had insufficient knowledge in self
care.

important for J.G. to have the proper nutrition because it will aid healing as well as managing
his blood sugar since he s diabetic. Since he is diabetic and is susceptible to loss of sensation and
circulation, it is important that he wears loose shoes and shoes that protect the toes from friction
and hitting objects. Mobility is also a significant factor (Heller, 2014). If J.G. cannot get out of
bed and walk a round, it is important for his daughter to turn him ever 2 hours to avoid pressure
ulcers from forming. J.G. has a history of wound infection. If there is any presence of pus or
bleeding, excessive pain, or odor, the wound may be infected. It is essential that J.G. and his
daughter know what signs may indicate infection and that they call their health care provider if
infection is suspected. If infection develops it can have a great impact on the wound healing
process and can lead to hospitalization (Grothie amp; Ousey, 2014). This can lead to chronic
wounds. Chronic wounds are slow to heal and take over 6 weeks. Chronic wounds might need a
referral to a wound clinic. A wound clinic will help the patient develop a healing plan and monitor
the size and progress of the wound. In part of patient education it is important to refer to additional
resources outside of the hospital setting (Heller, 2014). The ultimate goal for J.G. and his daughter is

The Theme Of Nature In Light In August
Nature is everywhere; it is not only animals and trees. Nature is strength, care, power, peace and
freedom. Even though it might be hard to see, if one plays close attention, one will find nature
hidden in the smallest things. When discussing William Falkner s book, Light In August, nature is
not the first theme that runs through the reader s mind. However, the essence nature s details add
to the story is truly grandiose. The reader learns that nature is a neutral force. It is unstoppable,
uncontrollable and extremely unpredictable. The lives of two main characters, Lena Grove and Joe
Christmas, highlight the fact that one might feel nurtured by nature, as much as one might feel
defied by it.
The novel begins by describing a young pregnant ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, William Faulkner alludes to nature s supportive side while describing how it
foreshadows significant and precarious events. For example, Faulkner describes, The grass was
aloud, alive with the crickets. Against the dewgray earth and the dark bands of trees fireflies
drifted and faded, erratic and random. A mockingbird sang in a tree beside the house. Behind him,
in the woods beyond the spring, two whippoorwills whistled. Beyond them, as though beyond
some ultimate horizon of summer, a hound howled (159). This quote describes how, while Joe
walks through the pasture, nature suddenly turns frantic, predicting something is about to happen,
and nature never lies. Joe Christmas finds Mr. McEachern, his tough foster parent, sits motionless
next to the cows, which Joe did not milk. For this, he gets punished and whipped. That night, Joe
felt like an eagle: hard, sufficient, potent, remorseless, strong. But that passed, though he did not
then know that, like the eagle, his own flesh as well as space was still a cage (160). This quote is
linked directly to the theme of nature, because by comparing himself with an caged eagle, Joe
portrays how he lacks freedom and happiness. Also, nature is seen as comforting because when Joe
s traditional environment seems to fail, he relates nature with his goal of running

Frankenmuth s Role In Ethiopia
Frederick Wyneken was a German missionary who was working in Michigan and Ohio who first
thought of the idea for Frankenmuth. A place for schools and churches for German immigrants
was his idea for this place. However, he and his fellow German Immigrants didn t have enough
money to start such an idea. Therefore, in 1840 he wrote a letter to all the Lutherans in Germanyfor
financial assistance and speaking of the hardships that the people where facing.
His Letter caught the attention of the Wilhelm Loehe, who is a pastor of several towns in
Germany, and because of his strong beliefs and convictions in the church doctrines, He organized a

Neoconservative And Discrimination Against Gays And...
People may not notice little things that others do or say. Something as small as calling someone
gay because they identify themselves as homosexual, could emotionally traumatize them.
Examples of these issues are LGBTQ+ working in a labour intensive employment, and is treated
as weak or unfit for the position, thus being looked down upon. For centuries, people follow the
stereotype that people of a different gender or sexual identity are looked down upon and
considered outliers of the society. Our group will go in depth and demonstrate examples of
discrimination against LGBTQ+ in the workforce, by first analyzing the root of this problem. A
few questions that we will evaluating are: if people dislike LGBTQ+ in the workforce because
they are homosexuals, or because they are lacking in skill, education, experience etc. Second
question that ties with the root of the issue is to find out why majority of people discriminate
individuals that identify as LGBTQ+ homosexuals. Lastly, our group will be explaining
different point of views of this issue. We will be using a variety of frameworks that we have
learned in class such as viewing the social problem with a Neoliberal, Neoconservative and
transformative outlook to analyze the social problem. Topics that we can analyze using these
frameworks, include who is at fault or who is to blame within the social problem, how each
framework would try to resolve the social problem, and what are some things that each framework
can do

Sustainability Is Not Green
What is sustainability? In contemporary design, sustainability is a furious warrior under a green
coat. People usually attribute sustainability with the color green, essence of nature or love and care
for mother earth. In the context of construction, this means placing plants in buildings, installing
green roofs and use local construction materials. Sustainability is much more than a green coat
concept draped over buildings. Sustainability is strong, a courageous idea that would change the
future.
To sustain is to withstand and endure without giving away. A sustainable civilization should not
empty natural resources and endanger the environment. To sustain is ...to meet the needs of the
present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
Preservation runs parallel with the concept of sustainability. To sustain is to preserve the current.
To Sustain is to discard the idea of wastefulness. Concern about the environment and preservation
of natural resource had become a heated debate among citizens, designers, and politics. United
States alone uses a significant among of world s energy and produces a great amount of
greenhouse gas. According to U.S. Department of Energy s EIA for 2007, commercial and
residential buildings consume about 40 percent of the energy usage in the United States. Building
constructions plays an important role in sustainable development and environmental preservation

Pros And Cons Of Oral History
Oral history has been a vital source of historical and important information since the beginning of
human interaction. Recordings and one on one interviews with someone who lived through a
certain time period or particular event can often provide a substantial amount of information and
evidences on a subjectthat one may be researching. Unfortunately oral historydoes has its flaws,
and it does not always provide the best source of information. Often information from direct
interviews and other forms of oral history can be misinterpreted and inaccurate. There are quite a
few pros and cons when using oral history as a source of evidence. These pros includes first hand
accounts of a certain event, person, and/or time period, next access to information not available in
books, articles, or journals, and finally oral history allows for different views and opinions on a
subject matter the opportunity to be heard that otherwise wouldn t. There also are several cons
when using oral history as a source of evidence. As mention earlier information from oral history
can and has often been misinterpreted and inaccurate. Another con includes biases and ideology
differences effecting personal accounts of an event or person. The final con is the creditability of
the actually source. In the Hochschild book and the interviewwith Stalin s daughter, these pros and
cons are present. Having a first hand account of a historical event or person can be extremely

The Goal Of Education And The Goals Of Public Education
The goals of public education revolve around three main areas that include; the political goals of
schooling, the social goals of schooling, and the economic goals of schooling. These goals were
placed with the idea that all children should receive public education whether you were poor or
rich and schools focused on teaching about political views and the law to avoid conflicts. Schools
were the focus of many hopes for political, social, and economic improvement.
A persistent educational goal of school was to give everyone the same chance to pursue wealth,
which is known as equality of opportunity. Equality of opportunity is the idea that individuals
compete with one another with all participants starting at the same point, which Horace Mann
referred to as the, great balance wheel of society (Spring, 2016, p. 66). Schools provide everyone
with an equal opportunity to pursue an education and wealth; however, I believe there are factors
that alter that equilibrium. Mann believed that equality of opportunity would reduce tensions
between the rich and the poor. It allowed the poor to believe that regardless of their circumstance
their children had an equal chance to compete with children of rich families (Spring, 2016 p. 67).
However, there are factors that will contribute to your opportunity to succeed, but schools give
students the opportunity to all start on the same path that end in different destinations.
The debate about equality of opportunity is centered on three

The easy parts of following the diet for hemodialysis were creating my DaVita account and

challenge. For instance, not having all of the ingredients to prepare the meals and deciding what
foods my family would eat. For breakfast, I chose to go with the apple smoothie with raisin toast.
The problem with this meal was that, I usually put bananas and milk in smoothies. This
smoothie did not have bananas and milk because of the high amount of potassium and
phosphorus which needs to be monitored in CKD patients. Some of the ingredients like the
flaxseeds and the butter were omitted from this recipe because they were not available. For
lunch, I chose the chicken broccoli pasta toss because we all like chicken. Here again some
ingredients were omitted (raisin and cider vinegar) because family members had issues with
them and other ingredients were substituted (e.g. regular mayonnaise instead of the low sodium,

Nice To Eat With You Chapter 1 Summary
Ryan Klemann
AP Literature and Composition
Mrs. Mills Chapter 5 Nice to Eat with You: Acts of Communion: As Kumalo arrives in
Johannesburg, he dines with Msimangu and other priests, which include blacks and whites. The
priests at the mission sit together forgetting about color, signifying that the two races can be
together in agreement, and they welcome Kumalo s story with interest. Kumalo talks about his
village and describes how people will leave Ixopo and create a sense of brokenness in the tribe,
which are all falling to ruin. One priest wished to hear more, but got up and left to attend other
affairs, symbolizing an end of a relationship. At this meal, news of a Johannesburg couple that had
been beaten and robbed by a couple of natives was discussed. This meal of the priests is not only
an act of communion, but it represents a bond created by two different races, which is the main
issue of this novel. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Like Christ, Arthur teaches to love each race and be considerate towards whites and blacks. As
Arthur Jarvis died in chapter eleven, he brought optimism and change to the people, similar to Jesus
Christ bringing redemption and spiritual growth of many people. Due to his teachings being
rejected by many people of South Africa, he was killed. As Arthur Jarvis was killed, there were
pictures of crucified Christ and Abraham Lincoln, both people who fought for what they believed
in, human compassion, and were killed for their beliefs. Through Arthur Jarvis, the reader sees
sacrifice through his actions, which relate him to Jesus Christ, the greatest sacrifice we know of.

Fat taxes have been experimented with in numerous European countries. There are many benefits
such as boosting economic growth, improving health and elongating life expectancy. On the
contrary if a fat tax is implemented into a weak economy it could cause the loss of jobs due to
higher prices. These higher prices cause local consumers to begin to purchase their unhealthy
products in different states or countries, causing the loss of business for local industries. France,
Hungary and Denmark all have experimented with the enactment of a fat tax. All four countries
experienced varied results with both positive and negative outcomes. The French, when
implementing the Junk Food Tax , wanted to decrease unhealthy food eating habits... Show more

Energy drink producers have changed their recipe, playing a cat and mouse game with the
government and their new tax regulations. There is much opposition and debate over this, and
difficult economic times have created unrest with the residents. Still, the tax with all of this
negative feedback has survived, unlike the experiment performed in Denmark. Denmark
implanted a fat tax on food products containing more than 2.3% saturated fat. After only being in
place for one year, Denmark repealed the fat tax and got rid of an impending tax on sugar in
2012. The tax was causing the loss of jobs due to the increased cost of doing business .
Consumers began buying food products in Sweden and Germany. Many younger adults who
would frequently purchase bags of chips after school simply began buying different brands of
potato chips that merely just changed the types of ingredients to meet the governments fat tax
demands. While the tax did bring in $216 million for the government, the higher price of meat,
dairy and butter proved to be too much for the Hungarian economy to handle. With the loss of
consumers in Denmark, business owners were not able to sustain consistent sales to stay profitable.
Americans would have even less options for buying foreign food products considering our
geography, compared to that of Denmark. With mixed results it is necessary to carry out
evaluations before implementing a fat tax. The state of

Resolutions For Amending The Constitution On Election Of...
Resolutions for amending the Constitution on Election of the President, 1800. (Gilder Lehrman

Nasty political mud slinging. Campaign attacks and counterattacks. Personal insults. Outrageous
newspaper invective. Dire predictions of warfare and national collapse. Innovative new forms of
politicking capitalizing on a growing technology. As much as this seems to describe our present day
presidential contests, it actually describes an election more than two hundred years past.
The presidential election of 1800 was an angry, dirty, crisis ridden contest that seemed to threaten
the nation s very survival. A bitter partisan battle between Federalist John Adamsand Republican
Thomas Jefferson, it produced a tie between Jefferson and his Republican running mate, Aaron Burr
; a deadlock in the House where the tie had to be broken; an outburst of intrigue and suspicion as
Federalists struggled to determine a course of action; Jefferson s election; and Burr s eventual
downfall. The unfolding of this crisis tested the new nation s durability. The deadlock in the
House revealed a constitutional defect. It also pushed partisan rivalry to an extreme, inspiring a
host of creative and far reaching electoral ploys. As a sense of crisis built, there was even talk of
disunion and civil war, and indeed, two states began to organize their militias to seize the
government if Jefferson did not prevail.
Oddly enough, this pivotal election has received relatively little scholarly

Ans 1c)
In my project, there are numerous assumptions and limitations that are being handled in the
pseudo code. First of all, this program is only designed to calculate the average age of all the
family members that the user will input. There is no other calculation that the program has been
designed to do. Secondly, the program does not give the user any option or chance to return to
inputting more family members if they forgot to do so at the beginning. This program was not
designed to have a set limit to how many inputs the user could enter. This list could keep going
on and on. This program is created to calculate and display both the Average age of family
Members and the residents who live in Texas. If the user wanted to display just one of the results,
the user would have to do the whole program just to get one of the results. This is being handled
by the pseudo code only being able to handle the calculations that are set. The user does not have
the ability to let the program know how many family members will be entered before the user
begins. To handle that, the Count function is being used in the psuedocode to obtain the correct
output.
1 d) Provide an alternative analysis and design approach showing a different way to solve the
same problem definition of family member in Texas. As you have learned, a single problem can be

The first thing in the story about the relations of gender is that they are humane means. No trace of

Western Theatre as an artform began as religious rituals in ancient Greece. Formerly, only men
could become actors, women being typically played by men or boys. In Ancient Roman and
Medieval theatre women were allowed occasionally, but not often. In the 17th Century opera

Electrical Hazards Are Not For Electric Shock
Electrical hazards are not limited to electric shock; those who are not working with or using
electricity may be also at risk. Faulty electrical appliance or equipment and poor electrical
installations may lead to fire which could potentially injure people around it. According to
National Fire Protection Association, approximately 2600 people are killed in home fires each
year, most are caused by electrical faults [4]. Also, electricityor even static could be the source of
ignition in a potentially flammable or explosive atmosphere. For example, in a garage where
contain vaporized gasoline due to a tipped over gas tank, the static generated between the car door
and key can cause explosion if the ratio between air vaporized gasoline is within the explosive
range.
Electromagnetic interference is disturbance which can affect an electrical circuit with
electromagnetic induction or radiation [6]. It s a serious hazard especially for airlines. The
modern aircrafts are heavily dependent on navigation and other vital electronic systems.
Electromagnetic interference may cause these systems to malfunction and lead to crash. A
researcher from Harvard University, Elaine Scarry stated that Electromagnetic interference in the
airspace east of JFK airport may have caused three air crashes in 20th century; the crash of TWA

system during the War time scarcity situation, it has grown into being the largest system of
organized food grain distribution in the world this day. Availability of food grains is essential
and of prime concern but not passable condition to make sure food security to the poor people.
In addition to food availability, it is necessary that food accessibility is also ensured to the poor

My Fair Lady Dimed Analysis
My Fair Lady and Nickeled and Dimed are both great novels focusing in on wealth and money.
While these books are unique in their own different ways, they are basically the opposites of one
another! My Fair Lady focusing on the young and witty Eliza Doolittle who is brought up into a
high class lady. While in Nickeled and Dimed, Barbara is leaving her high class paying job and
moving down into a low class minimum wage paying job. It is very interesting to see how these
two books are so similar but have two drastically different situations. Furthermore, I believe that
people should respect each class more, we should not scrutinize others based on their education
or income level. These novels really look into what it is like to be in another person s shoes, and
I honestly feel that in the end of both novels, each character had gone on their own journey and
in the end had more respect and outlook on the class system. Beginning with My Fair Lady, the
plot is set in London, in the late Edwardian era. Eliza Doolittle is a young girl lacking a formal
education, shadowed from the high class system. She is then taken in by Henry Higgins, a
professor who is highly educated but tends to strive away from the typical class act, making him
have an odd relationship with his mother. Henry decides to make Eliza into a educated, beautiful,
high class lady, and pass her off at a very elegant event. She then goes through numerous amounts of

How Companies Handle Nonliquidating Distributions
This paper explores the different types of nonliquidating distributions and how they distributed to
shareholder in a corporation from research collected online (Internet) and offline (non Internet). The
online research was done using sites including the IRS website, ProQuest and EBSCOhost. The
majority of the offline was done using the textbook McGraw Hill s Taxation of Business Entities:
2016 Edition. The different types of nonliquidating distributions includes property distribution,
dividend from earnings and profits, constructive dividends, stock redemptions, and partial

Summary Of The Canterbury Tales By Geoffrey Chaucer
Geoffrey Chaucer wrote The Canterbury Tales, a collection of short tales in the 14th century.
The compilation of stories is told by pilgrims on the journey within the narrative as part of a
game proposed by the host. Each individual must tell two stories of their journey. My favorite
pilgrim was the Franklin. The Franklin was a gentry landowner, member of the nobility, who
had extensive holdings. He belonged to the middle class and was a man of leisure. Chaucer
described him as White as a daisy petal was his beard. A sanguine man, high colored and benign
(line 342 343). The Franklin sported a white beard and carried a dagger and a white silk purse.
He had a cheerful personality and was confident. His only reason to be on this pilgrimage was to
enjoy himself. The Franklin was traveling with the Man of Law. According to Chaucer he He
loved a morning sop of cake in wine. He lived for pleasure and had always done ( line 344). I
think that Chaucer had a good opinion of the Franklin. The way that Chaucer describes the
Franklin makes the reader think that Chaucer likes him. He says that The Franklin is calm,
strong and an overall a cheerful guy. Chaucer also proves that he thinks highly of the Franklin by
saying, He was a model among landed gentry (line 369 370). He lives to please others and has a
house full of food. The Franklin, according to Chaucer, had an overall great sense of hospitality.
The Franklin s deadly sin was gluttony. He liked to overindulge himself

know about the assessments those people have to undergo once they are diagnosed. CAPS is an
hour long assessment in which the patient must go through a structured clinical interview
(Bardhoshi, Erford, B. T., Duncan, Dummett, Falco, Deferio, Kraft, 2016, p. 184). The CAPS
assessment includes an analysis of 30 different symptoms and scores them on a scale from 0 4 to
measure the intensity and the frequency of those symptoms (Bardhoshi, et al., 2014). CAPS is one
of the most frequently used assessments in measuring how the symptoms will... Show more content

Cognitive Processing Therapy is a form of therapy that integrates aspects of traditional cognitive
therapy with information processing theory (Lenz, et al., 2014, p. 360) (as cited in Resick et al.,
2007; Resick Schnicke, 1993). CPT was created based on the presumption that for a person with
PTSD to improve they must first have those memories activated in order for the fallacious
attributions and expectations to be substituted with corrective information (Lenz, et al., 2014, p.
360). CPT often involves the patients to do assignments out of therapy to let them practice the
different perspectives and action that they had learned in therapy (Lenz et al., 2014). CPT can also
be paired with other types of therapy such as grief counseling if the patient needs it (Lenz et al.,

There Is Power In Macbeth
Power is domination, control, and therefore a very selective form of truth which is a lie. Wole
Soyinka. We have to think of this when asking ourselves who actually holds the most power in the
Tragedy of Macbeth? There are many definitions of power. In the Drama the Tragedy of Macbeth
the kind of power they re talking about is physical and or mental force exerted by something or
someone. The Witches hold the most power to influence the actions of others throughout the whole
I. The three witches play little mind games with Macbethand some others.
The witches are the ones that have the most power because they re the ones that told Macbeth

Capital Structure theories
Capital Structure Theories
Capital Structure
Capital Structure is the proportion of debt, preference and equity capitals in the total financing of
the firm s assets. The main objective of financial management is to maximize the value of the equity
shares of the firm. Given this objective, the firm has to choose that financing mix/capital structure
that results in maximizing the wealth of the equity shareholders. Such a capital structure is called
as the optimum capital structure. At the optimum capital structure, the weighted average cost of
capital would be the minimum. The capital structure decision influences the value of the firm
through its cost of capital and can affect the share of the earnings that pertain to the equity ... Show

This approach also says that the overall cost of capital is independent of the degree of leverage.
Features of NOI approach:
1. At all degrees of leverage (debt), the overall capitalization rate would remain constant. For a
given level of Earnings before Interest and Taxes (EBIT), the value of a firm would be equal to
EBIT/overall capitalization rate.
2. The value of equity of a firm can be determined by subtracting the value of debt from the total
value of the firm. This can be denoted as follows:
Value of Equity = Total value of the firm Value of debt
3. Cost of equity increases with every increase in debt and the weighted average cost of capital
(WACC) remains constant. When the debt content in the capital structure increases, it increases the
risk of the firm as well as its shareholders. To compensate for the higher risk involved in investing in
highly levered company, equity holders naturally expect higher returns which in turn increases the
cost of equity capital.
Example:
Let us assume that a firm has an EBIT level of $50,000, cost of debt 10%, the total value of debt
$200,000 and the WACC is 12.5%. Let us find out the total value of the firm and the cost of equity
capital (the equity capitalization rate).
Solution:

The Immortality of the Soul in Plato s Phaedo
Dao Le
Prof. Mark Cronin
HU 102 HD
April 2, 2012
The Immortality of the Soul in Plato s Phaedo Among Plato s dialogues, which serve to honor the
realm of philosophy in general and Socrates s life in particular, the Phaedo dramatically and
poignantly portrays the death scene of Socrates. The Phaedo evokes such tragic sentiments of pity
and fear while at the same time glorifies Socrates as the martyr for the truth. He dies because of
human s injustice yet faces his own death with extraordinary serenity and fearlessness; he devotes
his whole life for philosophy and in fact practices it until the last minutes. In this dialogue, the
philosophical discussion is about the soul. However, as a dualist, for the most part Socrates takes for

David Bostock in his book Plato s Phaedo tries to examine the theory of the forms and Plato s
metaphysics:
In both it emerges that it is a crucial point about the form of P hood that it is unambiguously P,
which is to say that it is P and is not also in any way not P . . . For the form is contrasted with the
perceptible objects that are P, on the ground that they always combine being P with being not P,
which is why they are said to fall short of it (195).
These forms are much like the perfect templates and standards in which ordinary humdrum things
can only participate in to varying degrees. For example, there s nothing in this world that s
perfectly beautiful, and yet for all that, we can think about beauty itself. We might say those
physical objects are somewhat, or partially beauty because they partake of beauty to varying
degree, but none of them should be confused with Beauty itself. Another example is our mind can
grasp the idea of perfect circularity, but no physical object is perfectly circular; there are only
things that are circular to a greater or lesser degree. Therefore, unlike the physical objects, which
are constantly changing, the Platonic forms are perfect, stable, and eternal. However, when people
are alive, they are constantly distracted by the bodily desires; thus the core of the philosophers

Nevertheless, the procedure of training employees has many flaws. Firstly, the Happy Valley
wasted a lot of time during the super staff training, and it let the process of administering the
workshops became very hasty and inefficient. Meanwhile, staff felt bored during the training. They
were too tired to throw themselves into the training. There was no doubt that some employees had

office about the poor attitude of the camp staff.
In addition, ineffective management is also a problem category. To begin with, the span of
management is out of control. In order to maximize the efficiency, the managers need to think
about how many staff that they are able to supervise directly. Johnson, the director of the camp,
was directly responsible for managing the whole super staff. The efficiency of management would
decline. Moreover, Cameron was the only employee in program director part of the super staff

From grid locked traffic, to a crazy political season, trying to understand and control the
uncontrollable leads to feelings of anxiety, impatience, and helplessness. It is easy for me to
understand how someone could reach for something to make it all go away and then become
dependent on a substance, or other way of dealing with helplessness and anxiety, to cope with daily
hassles and difficulties. The last six months I have gotten up early, found a comfortable place to sit,
and spent twenty minutes concentrating on my breathing, non judgmentally accepting the thoughts
that constantly trouble my mind, and seek awareness of what is transpiring in the present moment.
This experience with Mindfulness has been effective in lowering my ruminating, anger, impatience,
and blood pressure. I have also noticed that the Mindfulness techniques have increased regulation of
my emotions, ability for creative problem solving (ability to switch among incoming stimuli s),
becoming centered in present moment, and accepting without judgement what is going in in the
present moment, good and bad. All of this benefits from Mindfulness could be utilized to fight

Symptoms And Treatment Of Restless Leg Syndrome
Restless leg syndrome, or also known as RLS and Willis Ekbom Disease, is a neurological
condition in which one experiences unpleasant sensations in the legs. The term RLS was
introduced by a doctor named Karl Axel Ekbom. Ekbom had a large number of patients
complaining of peculiar and tormenting paraesthesias deep in the lower legs which led him to
find out more. In 1944 he had already reported 8 patients with the same type of symptoms and by
1945 he had published a doctoral thesis called Restless legs : a clinical study of a hitherto
overlooked disease in the legs characterized by peculiar paraesthesia ( Anxietas tibiarum ), pain and
weakness and occurring in two main forms, asthenia crurum paresthetica and asthenia crurum

Many of the symptoms occur at primarily at night when one is sleeping or relaxing and can be
unilateral or on both sides. There are two names which is used to describe many of the patient s
sensations, an abnormal sensation is often called paresthesias and an unpleasant, uncomfortable
sensation is called dysesthesias. These two names help to determine the intensity level which
ranges in severity from uncomfortable to painful. Many of the patients go into the doctor and
much of the interview is based off of self reporting and history. It is very important for doctors to
listen to these symptoms to help make a correct diagnosis (Black Grant, 2014, pg 411). 2a
Prevalence and Development of RLS The actually onset of RLS occurs mostly within the second
to third decade of life. Many adults who are diagnosed with RLS have experienced many
symptoms before diagnosis and into the their childhood or before the age of 20. As many as 10%
report that they experienced symptoms before the age of 10 (Black Grant, 2014, pg 411). There is
an increase in the amount of people who experience the symptoms and even are diagnosed after
reaching the age of 60. Many of the symptoms continue to grow with age. Although, if there a
genetic predisposition to RLS, the onset of symptoms might start early in childhood but will

Symbolism of Nature in Poems
In literature, writers often use symbols of nature to symbolize emotion and reflection. Flowers
may symbolize life as drought may symbolize death and a loss of hope. In the poems The Road
Not Taken, Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening, and A Poison Tree, Frost and Wordsworth
use the shallow image of a flowerand the woods to symbolize a change of emotion and thought in
one s life. Two roads diverging in different directions lead to an unknown destination because no
one knows where the paths will take them. The two paths in the woods are symbolic for there
being many choices in life. The speaker also depicts the two paths with leaves covering both
equally, which shows that both are mysterious and lead to somewhere unknown to the person
traveling it. Also, that no matter what choice is made do not look back, but to keep moving
forward. For example in the poem the speaker says, I took the one less traveled by, and that has
made all the difference. (536) it depicts that the person is picking the path not commonly chosen
by others even if it does not lead to good things. It may be much more difficult, and although it is
going against everyone it has set the speaker apart from others. The woods are used as a symbol
of a passage to temptation and darkness in the poem, Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening .
It is also described as a place of glamour that has diverted the speaker from fulfilling the promise.
The poem uses the horse with the bell attached to it as a

Examples Of Stereotypes In Romeo And Juliet
The play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare is a love story that is tragic from the start.
From the love between the two main characters, Romeo and Juliet, being forbidden, to their
tragic deaths in the end, Romeo and Juliet certainly defies many stereotypes. The areas of the
play where these stereotypes are broken/not met are where Romeo does not fit into the role of a
man due to his being extremely sensitive at the beginning of the play, the fact that Romeo does
not initiate his marriage to Juliet, and at the end, where Romeo kills himself because he believes
that Juliet is no longer alive. In Romeo and Juliet, the gender roles that are placed upon males
are not met with the character Romeo. At the beginning of the play, Romeo is upset about
Rosaline, the girl who he likes, not liking him back. His being upset is especially prominent
when Romeo makes his first appearance in the play towards the end of Act I, Scene I. In this
scene, Lady Monatgue, Romeos mother, is voicing her concern about her son being so
depressed. His cousin, Benvolio sees him coming towards where the rest of his family is
standing, and says that he will talk to Romeo. Benvolio is able to get it out of his cousin that he
is upset because a girl does not like him back. Romeo talks about the darkness, which is a symbol
for sadness and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Generally, suicides that happen following the death of a significant other are shown as the
woman in the relationship killing herself. Although in Romeo and Juliet, Juliet did end up
killing herself, Romeo kills himself first. Romeo is defying gender roles by ending his life for
Juliet, because he is allowing himself to be the weaker one in his relationship. This is the part of
the play where those who are reading it or watching it be performed realize that Romeo does not
fit into his gender stereotype of making girls swoon over

  • 2. The Actions of Three Great Men and How They Made Canada... The Actions of Three Great Men and How They Made Canada Stronger Throughout Canadian history, we experienced many events that made our country both stronger and weaker. At times, we were looked upon as a nation with great potential, great peacekeeping service, and even a nation where its citizens were proud to be Canadian. Although, Canada did show signs of negativity as some of our actions made us look like terrible people and overall others had a weak view of the nation. During the 20th century, there were however 3 men that did prove that they did what they did not just only for themselves, but for the commonwealth of the population. These 3 men, William Lyon Mackenzie King, Lester Bowles Pearson, and Pierre Elliot Trudeau shaped... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There were some issues in the system and how it operated but overall, Canada s elderly were given financial help that most needed in order to survive. This was a piece of Canada that was able to become stronger in the sense of stability. Aside from the Old Age Pension Act, King also created the Unemployment Insurance Act, which are social welfare payments given to the unemployed population. At first, the Unemployment Act excluded many types of employment such as agriculture, and jobs that earned more than $2,000 per year (Makarenko, 1). This was the responsibility of the provinces, but after acquiring unanimous provincial consent, he made it become a federal issue (Makarenko, 1). The British Parliament made a change to the British North American Act (now the Canadian Constitution) stating that unemployment insurance was now a federal power and not a provincial power (Makarenko, 1). King introduced a nationwide public system of unemployment insurance, which was funded by employees, employers, and the federal government (Makarenko, 1). This action helped Canada become stronger due to the fact that it provided an income for the people who couldn t work due to maternity issues, amputations, and illness. Now, the people who couldn t support themselves had relief from the government which abled them to be able to survive and keep poverty on a lower scale. • 3. Solving the Foreclosure Crisis- Decrease Interest Rates,... Foreclosure is an important issue in the United States and needs to be ended or decreased rapidly as soon as possible for the sake of America s economy. The foreclosure of homes has decreased the state of the economy, and rendered millions of Americans homeless. There are four key solutions that will stop foreclosures in the United States and able millions of American to keep their homes. The first solution is having banks lower their interest rates for all citizens who are in financial need of an interest rate deduction. The second solution is creating jobs that are able to sustain through an economic crisis. The third solution is for states and towns to conduct public seminars on how to manage and budget ones finances during financially... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The disadvantages of having banks lower their interest rates are, people may feel less obligated to pay their mortgage payments on time because the interest rates are lower, despite the jobs that are available through people owning homes there still may not be enough jobs to go around causing there to be very little change in the amount of homes in foreclosure. Creating jobs that are able to sustain through an economic crisis will stop foreclosures because if citizens lose their jobs in an economic crisis they will be able to quickly find another job. This would be beneficial in the fight to end foreclosures because people would have the funds to pay their mortgage and any other financial obligations. How one would go about creating new jobs is by developing new technology, products, and services that would change the way people live their everyday life while helping them to save money. Hybrid vehicles are an example of a new technology that has currently kept and created new jobs for citizens in the U.S. Hybrid vehicles are perfect examples of a new technology that has changed the way people live their life while helping them to save money. • 4. Ancient Egyptian Hieroglyphics And The Rosetta Stone Ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics was one of Egypt s great mysteries that were very difficult to figure out. Hieroglyphics are pictures or symbols that represent words, used in the writing system of ancient Egypt. The word hieroglyphic is Greek and literally means holy writings . So it would make since that Pharaohs names were written in hieroglyphics in their tombs because they were considered powerful and righteous. Thus, what was the key to unlock the translation of the hieroglyphics? The Rosetta Stone was discovered in 1799, by French soldiers who were building a fort near the Egyptian village of Rosetta. The soldiers noticed a dark, grey stone of granite sticking out of the ground that was attached to a wall inside of an ottoman fortress. They dug the piece of stone out and it stood about four feet tall and two and a half feet wide. With closer examination they realized it contained lines of writing. The soldiers notified the chief general in Egypt, Jacques Francoise Menou, because they understood that they have discovered something valuable. Months later, the stone was shipped to Napoleon for greater inspection.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Scholars did examine the writing on the Rosetta Stone, but their work went on very sluggishly because parts of the stone had crumbled. The Rosetta Stone was engraved with two languages, Egyptian and Greek. The stone used three scripts: Egyptian hieroglyphic, Egyptian demotic, and Greek. • 5. The Problem Of Cyber Security Solutions The seemingly exponential growth of the Internet has resulted in a largely unforeseen increase in the type, frequency and variety of cyber attacks[20]. These attacks can be very expensive and difficult from which to recover. Because of this there is a need to know what traffic should be permitted and what is malicious[22]. To this end there are many well known cyber security solutions are in place to counteract these attacks such as firewalls, anti virus software and IDS (Intrusion Detection System) [23]. Many of these require manual analysis however and approaches such as relying on host dependencies, profiling host behaviors or using deep packet inspection have been developed. These approaches have scalability issues though making them less than optimum in high speed networks [23]. The generation of Big Data over computer networks is quickly making all of these solutions somewhat obsolete though. To alleviate this problem and enhance the overall level of a system s security, the application of Big Data Analytics techniques to cybersecurity have become an area of great interest. These applications can be used to assist those administrating networks in the monitoring and real time detection of anomalous behavior in network streams[20]. An intrusion detection system (IDS), as mentioned previously is a cyber security solution designed to defend against network attacks. It however does not prevent attacks like an Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) [27]. It is considered ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

During the clinical rotation at Jackson South the group identified a need in wound care especially for patients with other underlying health issues such as diabetes. A large percentage of patients had wounds that would require patients to properly care for them once discharged. The group identified a lack of patient knowledge on how to care for these wounds and decided to develop a patient education pamphlet to teach patients how to care for wounds while not in a hospital setting. Mobility is also a significant factor (Heller, 2014). If J.G. cannot get out of bed and walk a round, it is important for his daughter to turn him ever 2 hours to avoid pressure ulcers from forming. J.G. has a history of wound infection. If there is any presence of pus or bleeding, excessive pain, or odor, the wound may be infected. It is essential that J.G. and his daughter know what signs may indicate infection and that they call their health care provider if infection is suspected. If infection develops it can have a great impact on the wound healing process and can lead to hospitalization (Grothie amp; Ousey, 2014). This can lead to chronic wounds. Chronic wounds are slow to heal and take over 6 weeks. Chronic wounds might need a referral to a wound clinic. A wound clinic will help the patient develop a healing plan and monitor the size and progress of the wound. • 10. The Theme Of Nature In Light In August Nature is everywhere; it is not only animals and trees. Nature is strength, care, power, peace and freedom. Even though it might be hard to see, if one plays close attention, one will find nature hidden in the smallest things. When discussing William Falkner s book, Light In August, nature is not the first theme that runs through the reader s mind. However, the essence nature s details add to the story is truly grandiose. The reader learns that nature is a neutral force. It is unstoppable, uncontrollable and extremely unpredictable. The lives of two main characters, Lena Grove and Joe Christmas, highlight the fact that one might feel nurtured by nature, as much as one might feel defied by it. The novel begins by describing a young pregnant ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, William Faulkner alludes to nature s supportive side while describing how it foreshadows significant and precarious events. For example, Faulkner describes, The grass was aloud, alive with the crickets. Against the dewgray earth and the dark bands of trees fireflies drifted and faded, erratic and random. A mockingbird sang in a tree beside the house. Behind him, in the woods beyond the spring, two whippoorwills whistled. Beyond them, as though beyond some ultimate horizon of summer, a hound howled (159). This quote describes how, while Joe walks through the pasture, nature suddenly turns frantic, predicting something is about to happen, and nature never lies. Joe Christmas finds Mr. McEachern, his tough foster parent, sits motionless next to the cows, which Joe did not milk. For this, he gets punished and whipped. That night, Joe felt like an eagle: hard, sufficient, potent, remorseless, strong. But that passed, though he did not then know that, like the eagle, his own flesh as well as space was still a cage (160). This quote is linked directly to the theme of nature, because by comparing himself with an caged eagle, Joe portrays how he lacks freedom and happiness. Also, nature is seen as comforting because when Joe s traditional environment seems to fail, he relates nature with his goal of running ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Therefore, in 1840 he wrote a letter to all the Lutherans in Germanyfor financial assistance and speaking of the hardships that the people where facing. • 12. Neoconservative And Discrimination Against Gays And... People may not notice little things that others do or say. Something as small as calling someone gay because they identify themselves as homosexual, could emotionally traumatize them. Examples of these issues are LGBTQ+ working in a labour intensive employment, and is treated as weak or unfit for the position, thus being looked down upon. For centuries, people follow the stereotype that people of a different gender or sexual identity are looked down upon and considered outliers of the society. Our group will go in depth and demonstrate examples of discrimination against LGBTQ+ in the workforce, by first analyzing the root of this problem. A few questions that we will evaluating are: if people dislike LGBTQ+ in the workforce because they are homosexuals, or because they are lacking in skill, education, experience etc. Second question that ties with the root of the issue is to find out why majority of people discriminate individuals that identify as LGBTQ+ homosexuals. Lastly, our group will be explaining different point of views of this issue. We will be using a variety of frameworks that we have learned in class such as viewing the social problem with a Neoliberal, Neoconservative and transformative outlook to analyze the social problem. Topics that we can analyze using these frameworks, include who is at fault or who is to blame within the social problem, how each framework would try to resolve the social problem, and what are some things that each framework can do ... • 13. Sustainability Is Not Green What is sustainability? In contemporary design, sustainability is a furious warrior under a green coat. People usually attribute sustainability with the color green, essence of nature or love and care for mother earth. In the context of construction, this means placing plants in buildings, installing green roofs and use local construction materials. Sustainability is much more than a green coat concept draped over buildings. Sustainability is strong, a courageous idea that would change the future. To sustain is to withstand and endure without giving away. A sustainable civilization should not empty natural resources and endanger the environment. To sustain is ...to meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. Preservation runs parallel with the concept of sustainability. To sustain is to preserve the current. To Sustain is to discard the idea of wastefulness. Concern about the environment and preservation of natural resource had become a heated debate among citizens, designers, and politics. United States alone uses a significant among of world s energy and produces a great amount of greenhouse gas. Recordings and one on one interviews with someone who lived through a certain time period or particular event can often provide a substantial amount of information and evidences on a subjectthat one may be researching. Unfortunately oral historydoes has its flaws, and it does not always provide the best source of information. Often information from direct interviews and other forms of oral history can be misinterpreted and inaccurate. There are quite a few pros and cons when using oral history as a source of evidence. These pros includes first hand accounts of a certain event, person, and/or time period, next access to information not available in books, articles, or journals, and finally oral history allows for different views and opinions on a subject matter the opportunity to be heard that otherwise wouldn t. There also are several cons when using oral history as a source of evidence. As mention earlier information from oral history can and has often been misinterpreted and inaccurate. Another con includes biases and ideology differences effecting personal accounts of an event or person. The final con is the creditability of the actually source. The Goal Of Education And The Goals Of Public Education The goals of public education revolve around three main areas that include; the political goals of schooling, the social goals of schooling, and the economic goals of schooling. These goals were placed with the idea that all children should receive public education whether you were poor or rich and schools focused on teaching about political views and the law to avoid conflicts. Schools were the focus of many hopes for political, social, and economic improvement. A persistent educational goal of school was to give everyone the same chance to pursue wealth, which is known as equality of opportunity. Equality of opportunity is the idea that individuals compete with one another with all participants starting at the same point, which Horace Mann referred to as the, great balance wheel of society (Spring, 2016, p. 66). Schools provide everyone with an equal opportunity to pursue an education and wealth; however, I believe there are factors that alter that equilibrium. Mann believed that equality of opportunity would reduce tensions between the rich and the poor. It allowed the poor to believe that regardless of their circumstance their children had an equal chance to compete with children of rich families (Spring, 2016 p. 67). However, there are factors that will contribute to your opportunity to succeed, but schools give students the opportunity to all start on the same path that end in different destinations. The debate about equality of opportunity is centered on three ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Innovative new forms of politicking capitalizing on a growing technology. As much as this seems to describe our present day presidential contests, it actually describes an election more than two hundred years past. The presidential election of 1800 was an angry, dirty, crisis ridden contest that seemed to threaten the nation s very survival. A bitter partisan battle between Federalist John Adamsand Republican Thomas Jefferson, it produced a tie between Jefferson and his Republican running mate, Aaron Burr ; a deadlock in the House where the tie had to be broken; an outburst of intrigue and suspicion as Federalists struggled to determine a course of action; Jefferson s election; and Burr s eventual downfall. While these books are unique in their own different ways, they are basically the opposites of one another! My Fair Lady focusing on the young and witty Eliza Doolittle who is brought up into a high class lady. While in Nickeled and Dimed, Barbara is leaving her high class paying job and moving down into a low class minimum wage paying job. It is very interesting to see how these two books are so similar but have two drastically different situations. Furthermore, I believe that people should respect each class more, we should not scrutinize others based on their education or income level. These novels really look into what it is like to be in another person s shoes, and I honestly feel that in the end of both novels, each character had gone on their own journey and in the end had more respect and outlook on the class system. • 39. Summary Of The Canterbury Tales By Geoffrey Chaucer Geoffrey Chaucer wrote The Canterbury Tales, a collection of short tales in the 14th century. The compilation of stories is told by pilgrims on the journey within the narrative as part of a game proposed by the host. Each individual must tell two stories of their journey. My favorite pilgrim was the Franklin. The Franklin was a gentry landowner, member of the nobility, who had extensive holdings. He belonged to the middle class and was a man of leisure. Chaucer described him as White as a daisy petal was his beard. A sanguine man, high colored and benign (line 342 343). The Franklin sported a white beard and carried a dagger and a white silk purse. He had a cheerful personality and was confident. His only reason to be on this pilgrimage was to enjoy himself. The Franklin was traveling with the Man of Law. According to Chaucer he He loved a morning sop of cake in wine. He lived for pleasure and had always done ( line 344). I think that Chaucer had a good opinion of the Franklin. The way that Chaucer describes the Franklin makes the reader think that Chaucer likes him. He says that The Franklin is calm, strong and an overall a cheerful guy. Chaucer also proves that he thinks highly of the Franklin by saying, He was a model among landed gentry (line 369 370). He lives to please others and has a house full of food. The Franklin, according to Chaucer, had an overall great sense of hospitality. The Franklin s deadly sin was gluttony. He liked to overindulge himself ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

PTSD is an incredibly misunderstood disorder that has many different types of assessments and forms of therapy made specifically to help those that are suffering from it. Being able to know about and understand how and why these treatments work is a major part in helping these 20 million people. To begin with, for people to fully comprehend what happens to a person s brain when they are diagnosed with PTSD they have to know about the assessments those people have to undergo once they are diagnosed. CAPS is an hour long assessment in which the patient must go through a structured clinical interview (Bardhoshi, Erford, B. T., Duncan, Dummett, Falco, Deferio, Kraft, 2016, p. 184). The CAPS assessment includes an analysis of 30 different symptoms and scores them on a scale from 0 4 to measure the intensity and the frequency of those symptoms (Bardhoshi, et al., 2014). CPT was created based on the presumption that for a person with PTSD to improve they must first have those memories activated in order for the fallacious attributions and expectations to be substituted with corrective information (Lenz, et al., 2014, p. 360). CPT often involves the patients to do assignments out of therapy to let them practice the different perspectives and action that they had learned in therapy (Lenz et al., 2014). • 42. Capital Structure theories Capital Structure Theories Capital Structure Capital Structure is the proportion of debt, preference and equity capitals in the total financing of the firm s assets. The main objective of financial management is to maximize the value of the equity shares of the firm. Given this objective, the firm has to choose that financing mix/capital structure that results in maximizing the wealth of the equity shareholders. Such a capital structure is called as the optimum capital structure. At the optimum capital structure, the weighted average cost of capital would be the minimum. The capital structure decision influences the value of the firm through its cost of capital and can affect the share of the earnings that pertain to the equity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This approach also says that the overall cost of capital is independent of the degree of leverage. Features of NOI approach: 1. At all degrees of leverage (debt), the overall capitalization rate would remain constant. For a given level of Earnings before Interest and Taxes (EBIT), the value of a firm would be equal to EBIT/overall capitalization rate. 2. The value of equity of a firm can be determined by subtracting the value of debt from the total value of the firm. This can be denoted as follows: Value of Equity = Total value of the firm Value of debt 3. Cost of equity increases with every increase in debt and the weighted average cost of capital (WACC) remains constant. When the debt content in the capital structure increases, it increases the risk of the firm as well as its shareholders. To compensate for the higher risk involved in investing in highly levered company, equity holders naturally expect higher returns which in turn increases the cost of equity capital. Example: Let us assume that a firm has an EBIT level of $50,000, cost of debt 10%, the total value of debt $200,000 and the WACC is 12.5%. Let us find out the total value of the firm and the cost of equity capital (the equity capitalization rate). Solution: EBIT ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Phaedo evokes such tragic sentiments of pity and fear while at the same time glorifies Socrates as the martyr for the truth. He dies because of human s injustice yet faces his own death with extraordinary serenity and fearlessness; he devotes his whole life for philosophy and in fact practices it until the last minutes. David Bostock in his book Plato s Phaedo tries to examine the theory of the forms and Plato s metaphysics: In both it emerges that it is a crucial point about the form of P hood that it is unambiguously P, which is to say that it is P and is not also in any way not P . . . For the form is contrasted with the perceptible objects that are P, on the ground that they always combine being P with being not P, which is why they are said to fall short of it (195). These forms are much like the perfect templates and standards in which ordinary humdrum things can only participate in to varying degrees. For example, there s nothing in this world that s perfectly beautiful, and yet for all that, we can think about beauty itself. We might say those physical objects are somewhat, or partially beauty because they partake of beauty to varying degree, but none of them should be confused with Beauty itself. Another example is our mind can grasp the idea of perfect circularity, but no physical object is perfectly circular; there are only things that are circular to a greater or lesser degree. Therefore, unlike the physical objects, which are constantly changing, the Platonic forms are perfect, stable, and eternal. However, when people are alive, they are constantly distracted by the bodily desires; thus the core of the philosophers ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 48. Symbolism of Nature in Poems In literature, writers often use symbols of nature to symbolize emotion and reflection. Flowers may symbolize life as drought may symbolize death and a loss of hope. In the poems The Road Not Taken, Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening, and A Poison Tree, Frost and Wordsworth use the shallow image of a flowerand the woods to symbolize a change of emotion and thought in one s life. Two roads diverging in different directions lead to an unknown destination because no one knows where the paths will take them. The two paths in the woods are symbolic for there being many choices in life. The speaker also depicts the two paths with leaves covering both equally, which shows that both are mysterious and lead to somewhere unknown to the person traveling it. Also, that no matter what choice is made do not look back, but to keep moving forward. For example in the poem the speaker says, I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference. (536) it depicts that the person is picking the path not commonly chosen by others even if it does not lead to good things. It may be much more difficult, and although it is going against everyone it has set the speaker apart from others. The woods are used as a symbol of a passage to temptation and darkness in the poem, Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening . From the love between the two main characters, Romeo and Juliet, being forbidden, to their tragic deaths in the end, Romeo and Juliet certainly defies many stereotypes. The areas of the play where these stereotypes are broken/not met are where Romeo does not fit into the role of a man due to his being extremely sensitive at the beginning of the play, the fact that Romeo does not initiate his marriage to Juliet, and at the end, where Romeo kills himself because he believes that Juliet is no longer alive. In Romeo and Juliet, the gender roles that are placed upon males are not met with the character Romeo. At the beginning of the play, Romeo is upset about Rosaline, the girl who he likes, not liking him back. His being upset is especially prominent when Romeo makes his first appearance in the play towards the end of Act I, Scene I.
