Eudoxus Major Accomplishments
Eudoxus of Cnidus, born in 408 B.C. and died 355 B.C in Cnidus, Asia Minor, was well known for
his multitude of great achievements; both in astronomy and mathematics. However, focusing on his
mathematical accomplishments, Eudoxus has made a significant mark in history due to his
numerous contributions to mathematics. Working along with many famous philosophers and
mathematicians such as Archytas, Philiston, and Plato, Eudoxus was able to broaden his
knowledge and thus help lead modern day mathematicians to a greater comprehension of the
universe.
Eudoxus, son of Aeschines, as a young man traveled throughout Greece and Egypt with the hopes
of expanding his intellect of the world. One of his first voyages consisted of a journey to Tarentum.

However, Pythagoreans believed that all phenomenon can be reduced to whole numbers or their
ratios. (Lecture 8. Eudoxus, Avoided a Fundamental Conflict) In that Hippasus discoveries
contradicted the Pythagoreans conjecture, they murdered him. As time continued, more and more
irrational numbers began to appear; making it hard to ignore the fact that not all phenomenon is
reducible to whole numbers or their ratios. For this reason, the Greeks quickly realized that a
solution to irrational numbers was imperative. Fortunately, Eudoxus was able to present a new
theory of proportions which did not involve numbers. Instead, he studied geometrical objects such
as line segments, angles, etc., whiling avoiding giving numerical values to lengths of line segments,
sizes of angles, and other magnitudes. (Lecture 8. Eudoxus, Avoided a Fundamental Conflict) By
using geometry to evade irrational numbers, a mathematical crisis had been covered. Although
Greeks could not tolerate irrational numbers, they accepted irrational geometric quantities such as

Analysis Essay On C.S. Lewis s Narnia
C.S. Lewis uses a secondary world, Narnia, to convey complex, thought provoking messages to
readers of The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe. This paper examines the way a selection of
Narnia s key characteristics prompt debates over logic and faith, comment on the nature of
spiritual and metaphysical journeys, allow readers to broaden their conception of their own
capabilities, encourage new reflection on the story of Christ and help to clarify conceptions of
good and evil. Narnia s first characteristic of note is the portal through which it is reached В– the
wardrobe. By connecting the secondary world with the first, В‘real one, rather than simply
beginning the story within Narnia, Lewis is able to introduce thoughts about truth and... Show more

Lewis may be suggesting that explorations of metaphysical and spiritual subjects (the В‘Narnias
of our own world) are best suited to open, impartial minds. Second, the obscurity of Narnia s
entrance suggests that such journeys cannot be sought out or forced, but rather will present
themselves at places and times we least expect. Finally, the use of an ordinary wardrobe as the
portal to Narnia makes Lewis s readers consider what fantastic journeys В– physical or otherwise
В– may lay within the ordinariness of everyday existence. Another of Narnia s key characteristics is
that its inhabitants revere and depend upon the children. At their temporary home in England, the
children are unsupervised and irrelevant. The Professor involves himself little with the children s
affairs В– as Peter notes, That old chap will let us do anything we like! (p.2) В– and Mrs.
Macready displays impatient disregard for them. The children s situation breeds problems. Lucy is
afraid of the Professor and her new surroundings, Edmund mocks the Professor s odd appearance
and generally misbehaves, and Peter believes he and his siblings can be as mischievous as they
please. The children bicker constantly. Without responsibilities and respect to accompany it, the
freedom afforded by the Professor s indifference does not translate into maturity. In Narnia, by
contrast, the children immediately command

Essay on Society and Sports
Society and Sports There are many repercussions that are projected upon both men and women
when they enter into a sport that typically isn t thought of as gender appropriate. Some of those
cultural and social stigmatisms may be abandonment by your peers, and friends questions
regarding your sexuality, and even in some cases criticism as to how you are living your life. In
some cases, it may lead to you not being accepted by either group, theone whose norems you are
not following, of as well as the one with whom you are trying to get involved. This paper will
address all of these issues and how these seemingly negative situations can, will, and are, leading to
growth. It will also discuss how this is a situation where repercussions are... Show more content on

Women and men have different physical abilities that allow them to accent different parts of
their game. I will prove this by using an example from soccer. Men and women s soccer both
have a great following. However, the two games are played quite differently, not because the
women are less self serving, but because their game is more about finesse, and precision,
whereas men s game accentuates more their power and speed. The distinction here is not that
women are just naturally inclined to use the more feminine skills but rather that most don t have
the capacity to be able to use the power that a man does. This all fits into the socialization
argument well, but it fits in another way, too. I have found in my 16 years of soccer playing that
if a man posses the ability to have finesse, he is admired, and looked upon as a great addition to
any team. However, women who posses some of the traits more noted in men s soccer are
commonly criticized and encouraged to have more control. In soccer therefore, it is not as bad
for a man to have some feminine traits, but for females, to hold masculine traits is a great
detriment to their game. There is one more point that I would like to raise about the WNBA
article. In society and the media, there is hardly ever any mention about the male basketball player
s family. In the WNBA however, there is constant emphasis on the women s ability to fulfill dual
roles as athletes and mothers/wives.

African American Imperialism
Imperialism caused more problems than progress due to the destabilization of existing African
tribes through unnecessary conflict caused by Europeans. In 1877, Sir Henry Frere decided that
the only way to gain total control over the South African area was to defeat the Zulus, who were
bordering several independent Boer and tribal states (Herbert). While warfare between African
tribes did exist, it was usually fought over matters such as land. The British however, entered Africa
and attempted to destabilize a tribe to make seizing power over the area easier for them. The Anglo
Zulu War wouldn t have been fought had the British not invaded Africa and instigated the Zulu
tribe. Commandment S Bourquin wrote several journal entries detailing the

On Narcissism, The Uncanny, And Beyond The Pleasure P
I will focus on three essays by Sigmund Freud: On Narcissism, The Uncanny, and Beyond the
Pleasure Principle. By examining these three essays, the influence of Freud s theories can be
determined. These essays will determine what Freud offers literary critics today and how they use
his theories in their work. Many of Freud s theories overlap; his theories of the unconscious are
explored in Beyond the Pleasure Principle and The Uncanny. In studying Freud s theories, and
applying them to literature and literary criticisms, the progression of psychologyand the
understanding of humanity will become clear. Psychological theory studies the human mind. In
relation to literature, psychological theory studies the characters. What are their... Show more

Psychology has always had a deep impact on literature, so much that authors must use this theory to
delve into their characters motivations and actions. It is evident through the three Freud essays
discussed that topics and ideas seem to overlap. This is the nature of studying psychology; concepts
and ideas are connected to create a network that can be studied applied to not only the human mind,
but to the mind of an author or their fictional characters. In applying Sigmund Freud s ideas to
literature, critics can examine characters as if they were real. In our world, these characters are
not real. In the context of a work of fiction, for example, the characters are real. The confines of a
novel is the space in which they are alive. Examining characters as if they too have an unconscious
that compels them to unexplained actions allows critics, and readers of critics, to occupy that
character s headspace and become that character for a

Portrayal of Women in Rap and Music Videos Essay
Misogyny and degradation of women is present in almost every genre of music, yet the one
genre that completely revolves around demeaning women is rap. Over the years rap and rap
music videos have continually become more sexual and degrading towards women. Rap has been
criticized numerous times for this reason, and that is because rap is one of the most popular
genres of music for the younger generations. It is more than a genre of music, it is a complete
industry filled with clothing and other merchandise. The reason this constant demeaning of women
exists is because rap as a genre that rewards the objectification of women. The excuses used to
justify the misogyny in rap are incomplete and lack accurate support. The most effective way...

A rapper couldn t use a line describing what she did in the movie, let alone film it in a video,
without getting heat for it (Keyes 256). While some may choose to side with this argument, rap
truly takes sexual portrayal of women in both music videos and songs to the next level. In rap
music videos, diamond covered rappers stand next to cars as scantily dressed women dance
around them. This is the premise of the majority of rap music videos and both young girls and
boys all over the world see the constant objectification of women in these videos. Naturally this
concerns the parents of these kids, and many critics believes that the images kids see on T.V
directly correlate to their development and thinking: exposure to rap music videos, which is
explicit about sex and violence and rarely shows the potential long term adverse effects of risky
behavior, may influence adolescents by modeling thee unhealthy practices (Thrash). Parents should
become more aware of these videos, and make sure that their young daughters are not watching
them. Yet, once they get to the age where they could be recruited for these videos it is important
that they are educated about this industry. This education should come from the home, but I think
it would also be important to provide workshops for girls about this issue. Since anorexia is such a
problem among girls many companies and organizations put together workshops to educate young
girls. One example of this is Dove s Self Esteem

Children who Kill: Why and How to Treat Them KILLER... When we see this word what comes
to mind... Serial killers who stalk and prey upon women, mothers who kill their children as a
result of post partum depression, jealous spouses who catch their loved one cheating... But what
does not come to mind is children killing family, friends, and strangers. It may not be a topic that
comes to mind when thinking about killers, but it is a reality. Children are really a different type
of killer, and they usually have different motivations for killing. In my research a lot of children

In these two cases there was clear intent to harm which is one thing that is unique for children,
but what makes that so unique is that in both cases there were not external factors for the
killings. (Scott, unknown year) On February 29, 2000, six year old first grader Dedrick Owens
reportedly fired a .32 caliber semiautomatic handgun into a group of students at Buell Elementary
School, near Flint, Michigan, killing classmate Kayla Renee Rolland, also six. The youngest
known school shooter in history, Owens was not charged for the killing, due to an 1893 U.S.
Supreme Court Ruling which states that children under seven cannot be found guilty of felony.
Jamelle James, a nineteen year old man who was living in the same house as Owens, was charged
and pleaded no contest to involuntary manslaughter, for leaving the gun within the boy s reach.
James spent two and a half years in prison. In this case, it was less a murder and more of a curiosity
gone wrong. If you leave a gun in front of a six year old, they are going to take it and tragically in
this case he also used it. (Duke, 2004)

Their traditional instruments create the mood of the film, having some of the best musical scores
that I ve heard in a film. Zhangs use of instrumental music throughout his scenes create a sense of
intensity and mood. At the beginning of the scene the music starts with a soft tune and slowly
increase in volume as Broken Sword walked through the hall ways. The scene used more of a
strings melody that created a calmer, more intimate scene. This is then followed by a dynamic
transition into the following fighting scene. As the film progresses though the fighting scenes, the
score evolves into a more epic and intense melody which uses the sounds of objects in movement,
accompanied by a percussion that creates an intense mood, and the soft vocals of a female to
create a more elegant melody. Dun Tan, the composer of the score used more traditional forms of
instruments to create a feeling of immersion in the time period chosen. The music is one of the

Amy Tan Mother Tongue Summary
Mother Tongue describes Amy Tan s experience with languages throughout her life. Tan
discusses the difficulties of her mother s broken English (419) and its part in her life. She starts
with how she notices that she speaks two different types of English. In public, Tan uses her
proper, complicated grammar; when she is with her family, such as her mother and husband, she
uses broken English (419). Over the years, Tan notices the predicaments that arose due to her

The English that Tan s mother spoke made her into the person she is today: It s my mother
tongue. Her language, as I hear it is vivid, direct, full of observation and imagery. That was the
language that helped shape the way I saw things, expressed things, made sense of the world
(419). Not only does Tan use broken English (419) with her mother, she also uses this type of
English with her husband: It s because over the twenty years we ve been together I ve often
used that same kind of English with him, and sometimes he even uses it with me. It has become
our language of intimacy, a different sort of English that relates to family talk, the language I
grew up with (418). The relationship between Tan and her husband demonstrates how her mother
s English has an influential effect on her personal identity. The broken English was a part of Tan
when she was compassionate about her loved ones. She speaks that type of English when she is
with someone who is significant in her life. Tan kept her mother s English in mind when Tan was
working on her fiction novel The Joy Luck Club: I wanted to capture what language ability tests
can never reveal: her intent, her passion, her imagery, the rhythms of her speech and the nature of
her thoughts (423). Broken English (419) changed the way Tan first perceived the language and
makes it a big part of her own literature. Tan

A New World Developed Between The 16th And 18th Century
A new world developed between the 16th and 18th century focused on growing empires
establishments of power and profit . Ogborn argues that through various types of global connections
and the rise and fall of global powers, a global history was created. In particular, the exchange of
goods and services by Britain and the English colonies was only obtainable through utilizing
transportation. As a result, an advantageous Atlantic economy was formed . Britain applied
transportation as a method of ridding the country of undesirables, which included convicts, and
consequently created the criminal transportation system. Beattie notes that Britain was

As the colonial period prevailed in the 17th century and the settlers continued to create a society in
the new world, suspicion arose towards settlers and natives with distinctly unique life styles. These
foreigners were viewed as threatening to the colonists newly established societies. The first English
colonies were religiously intolerable, particularly towards Quakers . The English settlers also
feared the Native Americans because of their foreign way of life and their already established
communities on land settlers sought after . Correspondingly, the colonists began to believe it was
their moral duty to preserve their cultural identity as Englishmen . Though the Quakers were a
peaceful religion posing no actual threat, Virginia denounced them as endangering the society s
peace and safety in 1662. As a result, colonial court authorities in Virginia banished Quakers, upon
their third offense, when found practicing their religion . The Native Americans, on the other hand,
did actually pose a dangerous threat to the colonists in the early 17th century. The first Indian
uprising occurred in 1622 and became known as the Virginia Massacre. This event occurred because
of the Native Americans fear of losing their land to settlers . Anti Indian sentiment was soon after
instilled into English colonists. Colonial authorities and settlers began to adopt the view that it was

Realism s Effect on Chekhov and Stanislavsky, and their...
Realism played a huge role in the lives of Anton Chekhov and Konstantin Stanislavsky. Both
men made a huge impact on the world of theatre, and results are still seen today. Elements from
Chekhov s plays have influenced playwrights that came after him, like the works of Tennessee
Williams, who listed that Chekhov had a huge impact on his writing. Stanislavsky s acting
system, based on acting truthfully, inspired many other acting systems that are still used today.
Realism was a huge movement in late 1800s to early 1900s. All art forms were influenced by it.
Writers, artists, actors and more started taking a more simple direction and tried to depict life as it
actually was. In visual art it was common to see ordinary people doing every day... Show more

Vladimir Nemirovich Danchenko and Konstantin Stanislavsky founded the Moscow Art Theatre
on June 22, 1897, during an 18 hour luncheon at the Slavyanski Bazar (The Stanislavsky
Century). The two had set out to reform Russian theatre and had the common goal in mind to
create great art. Before they set their rules and regulations into place, none officially existed.
Actors would show up either drunk or late and not have their lines learned. Stanislavsky and
Nemirovich wanted a place where there would be discipline and respect and great art, thus the
Moscow Art Theatre was born (The Stanislavsky Century). Konstantin Stanislavsky, himself, also
practiced ideas of naturalism. He was a theatre practitioner and his roles served as actor and
director, and he created the first acting method. He functioned as the artistic director of the
Moscow Art Theatre. In A Sourcebook for Naturalist Theatre, there was a comparative statement to
Chekhov and Stanislavsky which read: In addition to the concept of acting truly , the practical
correlative to Chekhov s aim of depicting life as it really is , this extract outlines one of the most
important keys to Stanislavsky s system: establishing objectives, which in terms of acting is the
equivalent to the naturalists focus on motivation (Innes 54). Stanislavsky wrote three novels that

Return Of The Jedi Analysis
Return of the Jedi was by far my favorite film out of all 6 movies. I found that watching them
backwards wasn t so bad at the end of Return of the Jedi because, it helped me connect all the
dots together. I must say that my favorite part would have to be when Luke finally tells Leia
about their connection. I was fascinated by her instant response of I know, somehow, I ve always
known because, I believe in the cognitive connection between siblings. While reading Bethke s
assessment I instantly connected to his statement of He gave us a stout hearted lad who was loyal
to his friends and uncompromising to his enemies; who, when faced with the choice between good
and evil, chose good; and who, in the final scene did not utter a pithy epigram as he... Show more

Instead of making the division between good and evil so concrete he allowed Luke to
demonstrate that it was possible for the good to become evil and evil to become good. While
although Obi Wan was correct in saying Vader was more machine than man, Lucas still
demonstrated that Luke was his own character within the Jedi s and truly believe in his
cognitive feelings towards his father. I find this scenario to be relatable on a lot of different
levels. First, emotions toward family members can always be difficult when there is division and
broken connections. Second, as humans we want to believe that there is always a solid cognitive
connection between family members just as we have seen between Leia and Luke. We see the
negative side to this argument between Luke and Vader because in the end Vader is too far gone.
Third, we can relate to the disappointment but strength it can provide within a family when
someone is lost. We can see this between Luke and Leia after their father was burned and
destroyed. I find that these 3 areas are a part of the movies greatest strengths because we can truly
learn about family and the dysfunction that can be

two days away. Linda completely understood the situation and of course said yes. Once she told
us I was the first one that said I would stay late and help make the wedding cake. Linda and
Taylor were both happy because they both knew they needed the help. Later that day when we
started baking the cake Linda got a migraine and had to leave and go home, so Taylor and I
continued on working on the cake. It was getting kind of late so we found a stopping point.
After cleaning up and closing down for the night I hung my apron and said I would see her in the
morning. Once I got to my truck I released I forgot my phone inside and luckily Taylor did not lock
the door yet. I went back inside to look for where I left it. I could not find it in the back where we
were baking nor could I find Taylor, which I thought was a little odd. I headed to the front to see if

Iron Jawed Angels Analysis
Iron Jawed Angels is a drama genre film, directed by Katja Von Garnier. It portrays and accurately
accounts the events that took place in the 1920 s during the suffragist movement lead by Alice
Paul. Paul works alongside her friend, Lucy Burns and many other activists in an attempt to gain the
19th Amendment giving women the right to vote. Visual effects were used throughout the entirety
of the film to emphasise the theme of despair, which features. These effects include the montage
and close upshot in the opening scene, the quick cutting in the picketing scene, and the close up
shot and lighting in the force feeding scene.
The opening scene features visual effects in order to emphasise the theme of despair in the film.
Initially we are introduced to the character of Alice Paul with a long shot of her on a swing. The
shot appears as a horror film, setting off a daunting tone. We are then eventually displayed with a
montage of flash forwards and flash backs into Alice s future and past. A close up is used of
Alice s eye, which appears fearful and exhausted, blood shot and struggling to remain open. This
sets an initial sense of despair. Following this the montage features sped up passing storm clouds
to foreshadow the darkness and despair to come. These editing techniques were used by Garnier to
convey the theme of despair in the film by allowing little easing into the situation. In relation to the
wider world, although this theme of despair was being emphasised by these

Trends Of Property Prices Are Negatively Tracked By...
Trends in property prices are passionately tracked by economists because it is often a person s
biggest purchase and can also affect the rest of the economy. Property price trends are affected by
many factors, however they are like all other normal goods, price and demand are inversely related,
if the houseprices are high fewer people will be willing and able to buy a house. Property prices
tend to increase as time goes by, this is positive equity as the owners are better off. However, as
seen in the 2008 recession many people were in negative equity because the outstanding debt is
more than the house s retail value. If consumer confidence is absent it discourages expenditure,
because if they cannot pay, the house could be... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since there are more people in the UK, and they are living longer, the number of second hand
properties being sold is less, causing the prices of ones on the market to increase.
Dwellings have a high income elasticity of demand, so if the level of income increases demand for
property will also increase. Also, when people s income increases they are more likely to buy
properties than rent, also increasing average prices. There has been an overall increase in house
prices because 20 years ago average income was ВЈ19,774, peaking to 24,683 in 2008, then
decreasing to ВЈ22,524 in 2014 (source: rate inflation).
Social trends can also affect house prices, recently a trend has emerged for later marriages, the
mean age for marriage has increased by 8 years for men and women since 1972 (source: ONS). This
has led to an increase in demand for smaller dwellings such as apartments, causing the prices of
these forms of residence to rise.
The Bank of England can change the base rate of interest; this will be passed on by banks to the
general public, increasing the amount paid on variable rate mortgages. A higher rate will rule some
people out from being able to afford the house they want, decreasing demand for houses and
lowering the value of ones on the market. Recently, due to the economic crash the interest rate has

Eighteenth Century English Literature
Chapter III: Eighteenth Century English Literature
LITERATURE OF THE ENLIGHTENMENT
(18th century)
The 17th century was one of the most stormy periods of English history. The growing
contradictions between the new class, the bourgeoisie, and the old forces of feudalism brought
about the English Bourgeois Revolution in the 1640s. As a result of the revolution the king was
dethroned and beheaded and England was proclaimed a republic. Though very soon monarchy was
restored, the position of the bourgeoisie had changed.
The 18th century saw Great Britain rapidly growing into a capitalist country. It was an age of
intensive industrial development. New mills and manufactures appeared one after another. Small

Such composition of the novel gave the author a chance to create an all embracing picture of the
18th century England, to write a comic epopee as Fielding himself called the novel.
Fielding also worked out the theory of the novel. In the introductory chapters to the eighteen parts
of The History of Tom Jones he put forward the main requirements that the novel should meet: to
imitate life, to show the variety of human nature, to expose the roots and causes of man s
shortcomings and to indicate the ways of overcoming them.
3. Late Enlightenment (Sentimentalism) (1750 1780).
The writers of this period, like the Enlighteners of the first two periods, expressed the democratic
bourgeois tendencies of their time. They also tried to find a way out of the difficulties of the
existing order. However, while their predecessors believed in the force of intellect, they considered
feelings (or sentiments) most important. The principal representatives of sentimentalism in the
genre of the novel were Oliver Goldsmith (The Vicar of Wakefield) and Lawrence Sterne (Tristram
Shandy, The Sentimental Journey) and in drama Richard Sheridan (School for Scandal and other
plays).

The magazine Ladies Repository: A Monthly Periodical Devoted to Literature, Arts, and Religion
is a magazine that was published in 1800 and was targeted towards young women. The magazine

The effect of weapon technology had a big impact on World War One. World World I was the most

for Balkan Middle Eastern conflicts that remain unresolved. World War Iwas the war fought mainly

Able carry greater bomb loads over far longer distances than early aeroplanes, they were soon
employed by the Germans to carry the war to Britain itself. Most aggressive nations used airships
mainly for exploration and observation missions, but today it is the attack of the German
Zeppelins that are best remembered. In the days leading up to World War I, when aeroplane flight
had been possible for only 10 years, there existed a large body of opinion that the future of military
flying lay as much with lighter aircraft.
The career of Peter Strasser parallels the story of the German airship service. Promoted Leader of
Airships in 1913, he led the first strategic bombing campaign in history. The defences eventually
mastered the Zeppelin threat, but as Germany s defeat loomed near in August 1918 Strasser led

To prosecute a war on such a scale meant, for the British in particular, continuous and guaranteed

possible also to effectively deny the sea to the enemy. Close blockade, as practiced during the early

Impulse Control In Romeo And Juliet Analysis
One might believe that fate or destiny is the crucial reasons behind the characters catastrophe.
However, it is actually the impulses and the inability to control it which results in the enormous
amount of tragedies in this play. In the play, Romeo and Juliet by William shakespeare; Romeo,
Juliet and Mercutio are pivotal characters who choose to make decisions on impulses. Haste
combined with the dearth of impulse management is the main reason of this play s several tragic
events. If a number of the characters gained the power to carry off their impulsive acts and ponder
things through, there would be a better chance that the deaths of lover, Juliet and others may have

Moreover, Mercutio could have avoided this situation if he had showed respect in return. This
comes to show how mercutio had made impulsive decisions instead of making rational decisions.
As a result, we can see Mercutio s death occurs due to his rash and impulsive decisions. Mercutio
s impulsive acts result in his own passing. When Romeo refuses to participate in a duel with
Tybalt, Mercutio challenges Tybalt himself. Using words which are highly intimidating and
threatening, Mercutio gives Tybalt no choice but to engage in a duel. The following violent
words are exchanged between the two characters. TYBALT: Boy, this shall not excuse the

Big Bang Theory The Premise
The Big Bang theory is an effort to explain what happened at the very beginning of our universe.
Discoveries in astronomy and physics have shown beyond a reasonable doubt that our universe did
in fact have a beginning. Prior to that moment there was nothing; during and after that moment
there was something: our universe. The big bang theory is an effort to explain what happened
during and after that moment.
According to the standard theory, our universe sprang into existence as singularity around 13.7
billion years ago. What is a singularity and where does it come from? Well, to be honest, we don t
know for sure. Singularities are zones which defy our current understanding of physics. They are

(CMB) which pervades the observable universe. This is thought to be the remnant which scientists
were looking for. Penzias and Wilson shared in the 1978 Nobel Prize for Physics for their
discovery. * Finally, the abundance of the light elements Hydrogen and Helium found in the
observable universe are thought to support the Big Bang model of origins.
Big Bang Theory The Only Plausible Theory?
Is the standard Big Bang theory the only model consistent with these evidences? No, it s just the
most popular one. Internationally renown Astrophysicist George F. R. Ellis explains: People need
to be aware that there is a range of models that could explain the observations....For instance, I can
construct you a spherically symmetrical universe with Earth at its center, and you cannot disprove
it based on observations....You can only exclude it on philosophical grounds. In my view there is
absolutely nothing wrong in that. What I want to bring into the open is the fact that we are using
philosophical criteria in choosing our models. A lot of cosmology tries to hide that. 4
In 2003, Physicist Robert Gentry proposed an attractive alternative to the standard theory, an
alternative which also accounts for the evidences listed above.5 Dr. Gentry claims that the standard
Big Bang model is

The related population attributable risk was 18.37% (95% CI: 13.77 22.72). Acknowledging
limited statistical power, we did not find a significant interaction in this association with concurrent

giving us an insight of IRS rules we need to know. We were giving Publication 4012, which is an
easy guide to figure out who is qualified or not. We read about qualified dependent s, medicaid
/medicare, EIC (Earned Income Credit), itemization, standard deduction, Education Credit and
much more about these rules and exceptions. The class was held every other sunday (two time
each month), and we would have to read prior to class on new subject so when we go in, the
topic that are being covered won t confuse us. The class are mixed with Seniors and Juniors who
have or have not taken a tax course before. For the

Essay On Founding Brothers
In the book, Founding Brothers, by Joseph J. Ellis, he captures the significant moments from the
past in post revolutionary America and the lives of every single member of the Founding Fathers.
The primary members included Washington, Madison, Hamilton, Adams, and Jefferson while
Aaron and Franklin were somewhat in the background. He examines the Founding Brothers
influential moments in the Revolutionary generation and from that changing the course of what the
United Stateswould become. Even though he seems somewhat unsure of his claim, his factual
research and profound specific details in the book shows his desire to reveal the importance of the
founding brothers decision making in the disasters of the American republic. Ellis quotes, an
attempt to recover the urgency and improvisation, what it looked and felt like, for the eight most...

As they fought alongside with each other, possessed by the essence of 76, they formed an
idealistic Brotherhood intended on freedom. Washington s friendship with Hamilton was
essential towards the formation of the Federalist party, and he helped draft his Farwell address.
The relationship between Jefferson and Adams is precisely the main course of this book; Ellis
explores how politics resembled ties forged by the Revolution, but how time and viewpoints
facilitated a continuation of that friendship. At first, when Adams was the second president and
Jefferson was vice president, Ellis discusses how Jefferson unfairly criticized Adams for political
gain. As of result, Jefferson won office mostly due to his attack on Adams. Also, Jefferson
attempted to create a friendly settlement with Adams for a political collaboration with Madison at
a dinner held by Jefferson. In order, to set aside their political differences and compromise a plan to
pay off the national debt and to pinpoint the nation s new capital in the

Jerry Spinelli s Maniac Magee
In the book, Maniac Magee, the author, Jerry Spinelli, uses descriptive details, dialogue, actions,
and thoughts develop the character, Amanda Beale. Amanda Beale is a young black girl who
loves her books. Knowing that her dog, her brother, and her sister could rip them up and destroy
them, she doesn t leave the house without them. She is also very comfortable with guests, let s
take Maniac for instance. Maniac Magee was a stranger and he did not know Amanda, yet she
trusted him to not only keep her book safe until she wanted it back but to stay in her house. She
knew he was not black and she knew he was a boy, but she also knew that he was harmless and
had a heart. One charactertrait that describes Amanda is caring. I think she s caring because

Representation of Women in the Media
Representations of women in the media Miley Cyrus made media headline around the world,
during and after her performance on one of America s biggest award shows, MTV video music
awards (VMAs). Miley Cyrus was accompanied by Robin Thicke a popular R b musician, who also
performed a song, however it seemed Miley Cyrusreceived the most backlash for her behavior and
performance at the awards. Instantaneously a still shot from the performance went viral and
immediately created a bad representation of women in the media. Miley Cyrus was brought up in
the spot light, her farther Billy Ray Cyruswas already a famous musician and actor. Miley ascended
to fame for her role in the Disney channel show Hannah Montana, the show brought her extreme
success and popularity, the television show was about a teenage female leaving a double life;
regular teenager by day and teen superstar by night. Miley Cyrus had built a fan base of mostly
preteens and young children, subsequently she presented a clean image of a teenager with
immense moral character, which demonstrated an appearance of pure innocence. This image was
kept up for years, and the media/general public became used to viewing her in a certain light, that
when this pure and innocent image began to slowing fade away, it created a wide spread media
panic. Cyrus shocked the mainstream media when she went through a drastic appearance change,
she cut her hair, and changed her way of dressing into a more hyper

Example Of Visual Art Critique
Visual Art Critique
For my visual art critique, I attend the Texas State University Wittliff Collections on Tuesday,
October tenth. During my visit I viewed works of art from the Lonesome Dove collection. The
first piece of work I critiques was the photograph Crossing the Rio Grande taken by Bill Wittliff.
This photo was taken on the set of the Lonesome Dove in 1988. What stood out to me was the
significance of how real this photo is. So many slaves have tried to cross this river to escape
persecution and slavery. Although, in this instance the photo is depicting three cowboys or
horseman crossing the Rio Grande River in pursuit of cattle driving thousands of cattle from Texas
up north to Montana. Although this photo is quite iconic in relation to this history of Texas I do
not believe this piece of work along with many others from this exhibit should be deemed
canonical. I personally rate this piece of work a four and a half, out of ten simply because while it
is a great piece of art; it is the type of work I would like to hang in my bathroom above my toilet so
while I am urinating I can view a nice manly piece of art.
The second piece I critiqued was also a photo from the set of Lonesome Dove . The second piece
of art was titled Gus on Porch, and was also taken by Bill Wittliff. This piece of work was very
interesting to me because although I am not from Texas, I believe that this photo depicts how many
outsiders of Texas, view the states past. This photo features

Eudoxus Major Accomplishments Eudoxus of Cnidus, born in 408 B.C. and died 355 B.C in Cnidus, Asia Minor, was well known for his multitude of great achievements; both in astronomy and mathematics. However, focusing on his mathematical accomplishments, Eudoxus has made a significant mark in history due to his numerous contributions to mathematics. Working along with many famous philosophers and mathematicians such as Archytas, Philiston, and Plato, Eudoxus was able to broaden his knowledge and thus help lead modern day mathematicians to a greater comprehension of the universe. Eudoxus, son of Aeschines, as a young man traveled throughout Greece and Egypt with the hopes of expanding his intellect of the world. One of his first voyages consisted of a journey to Tarentum. ... Eudoxus, Avoided a Fundamental Conflict) In that Hippasus discoveries contradicted the Pythagoreans conjecture, they murdered him. As time continued, more and more irrational numbers began to appear; making it hard to ignore the fact that not all phenomenon is reducible to whole numbers or their ratios. For this reason, the Greeks quickly realized that a solution to irrational numbers was imperative. Fortunately, Eudoxus was able to present a new theory of proportions which did not involve numbers. Instead, he studied geometrical objects such as line segments, angles, etc., whiling avoiding giving numerical values to lengths of line segments, sizes of angles, and other magnitudes. (Lecture 8. Eudoxus, Avoided a Fundamental Conflict) By using geometry to evade irrational numbers, a mathematical crisis had been covered. Although Greeks could not tolerate irrational numbers, they accepted irrational geometric quantities such as the diagonal of the unit square (Lecture 8. This paper examines the way a selection of Narnia s key characteristics prompt debates over logic and faith, comment on the nature of spiritual and metaphysical journeys, allow readers to broaden their conception of their own capabilities, encourage new reflection on the story of Christ and help to clarify conceptions of good and evil. Narnia s first characteristic of note is the portal through which it is reached В– the wardrobe. Second, the obscurity of Narnia s entrance suggests that such journeys cannot be sought out or forced, but rather will present themselves at places and times we least expect. Finally, the use of an ordinary wardrobe as the portal to Narnia makes Lewis s readers consider what fantastic journeys В– physical or otherwise В– may lay within the ordinariness of everyday existence. Another of Narnia s key characteristics is that its inhabitants revere and depend upon the children. At their temporary home in England, the children are unsupervised and irrelevant. The Professor involves himself little with the children s affairs В– as Peter notes, That old chap will let us do anything we like! (p.2) В– and Mrs. Macready displays impatient disregard for them. The children s situation breeds problems. Lucy is afraid of the Professor and her new surroundings, Edmund mocks the Professor s odd appearance and generally misbehaves, and Peter believes he and his siblings can be as mischievous as they please. The children bicker constantly. Without responsibilities and respect to accompany it, the freedom afforded by the Professor s indifference does not translate into maturity. Some of those cultural and social stigmatisms may be abandonment by your peers, and friends questions regarding your sexuality, and even in some cases criticism as to how you are living your life. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Women and men have different physical abilities that allow them to accent different parts of their game. I will prove this by using an example from soccer. Men and women s soccer both have a great following. However, the two games are played quite differently, not because the women are less self serving, but because their game is more about finesse, and precision, whereas men s game accentuates more their power and speed. The distinction here is not that women are just naturally inclined to use the more feminine skills but rather that most don t have the capacity to be able to use the power that a man does. This all fits into the socialization argument well, but it fits in another way, too. I have found in my 16 years of soccer playing that if a man posses the ability to have finesse, he is admired, and looked upon as a great addition to any team. However, women who posses some of the traits more noted in men s soccer are commonly criticized and encouraged to have more control. In soccer therefore, it is not as bad for a man to have some feminine traits, but for females, to hold masculine traits is a great detriment to their game. There is one more point that I would like to raise about the WNBA article. In society and the media, there is hardly ever any mention about the male basketball player s family. In the WNBA however, there is constant emphasis on the women s ability to fulfill dual roles as athletes and mothers/wives. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While warfare between African tribes did exist, it was usually fought over matters such as land. Rap has been criticized numerous times for this reason, and that is because rap is one of the most popular genres of music for the younger generations. It is more than a genre of music, it is a complete industry filled with clothing and other merchandise. In rap music videos, diamond covered rappers stand next to cars as scantily dressed women dance around them. In the days leading up to World War I, when aeroplane flight had been possible for only 10 years, there existed a large body of opinion that the future of military flying lay as much with lighter aircraft. The career of Peter Strasser parallels the story of the German airship service. Promoted Leader of Airships in 1913, he led the first strategic bombing campaign in history. In my view there is absolutely nothing wrong in that. What I want to bring into the open is the fact that we are using philosophical criteria in choosing our models. A lot of cosmology tries to hide that. 4 In 2003, Physicist Robert Gentry proposed an attractive alternative to the standard theory, an alternative which also accounts for the evidences listed above.5 Dr. Gentry claims that the standard Big Bang model is ...
