Commodity In Chemistry
Economic Investigation
The economic classification of a substance that is vital for the existence of humankind is an important
notion to understand in order to utilize it both efficiently and effectively. This necessary liquid
solution, comprised of a specific arrangement of hydrogen and oxygen atoms, is known as water
(What is Water Made of?). It is difficult to go through a day without the use of this liquid; whether it
be satisfying your thirst on a hot summer day, washing dirty dishes after dinner, or taking a nice long
hot bubble bath at the end of the day. A multitude of individuals can argue that the very water that has
a variety of uses should be considered a commodity. Correspondingly, there are a multitude of
individuals that can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because of scarcity, various economic decisions must be made to allocate resources efficiently
(Scarcity). Water may be a renewable resource, but there is only a limited amount to satisfy an infinite
demand. Only 3% of water on earth is fresh water, with only 1% readily available. The rest lies
underground in aquifers or trapped in glaciers (The World s Water). Due to the limited supply and
growing demand, several countries such as Brazil, Iran, and India are experiencing a shortage (Reig,
Maddocks, Gassert , 2013). The law of supply and demand states that as something becomes scarce,
its value explodes. Water prices in the United States in over 30 states have experienced a 6% increase
due to a limited supply (Walton,

How Does Rap Music Cause Racism
Title There will never be an N word at SAE these are the words that were chanted by a frat group on a
bus earlier this year. After hearing these racist words many were quick to point the finger and blame it
on hip hop. For years this particular genre of music has been the target for the numerous acts of
violence, and racism throughout the country. Could the explicit rap lyrics that describes living in low
income housing, poverty stricken neighborhoods, and violent communities really promote such
vicious acts? Or are their lyrics a form of art that is simply expressing the eerie lifestyle many of them
have lived before success? Although many believe hip hop is to blame for the racism and violence in
our country, the real source that should be held accountable are the media and corporate executives of
record labels.. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, many American s knowledge of this is void due to mainstream media s incompetence of not
promoting social issues. Companies like Black Entertainment Television (BET), and radio stations that
promote themselves as the biggest brands in hip hop fail to mention the positive characteristics
because they don t have America s youth best interest at heart. Their primary focus is to spend a ton of
time marketing, advertising, selling product, and then pushing it to the consumers to buy their
merchandise. Due to the media only promoting the negative aspects of hip hop, it is up to the people to

Chitra Divakaruni Live Free And Starve Summary
Chitra Divakaruni is the author of Live Free and Starve. She emigrated from India to the United
States. She has written many books addressing the immigrant experience in America. Her experience
as an immigrant, now living in America, gives her the knowledge to write on this topic. Divakaruni
has personal insight to how child laborers are treated in third world countries and how they live verses
the United States. A preconception Divakaruni has is the United States tries to interfere and govern
other countries without considering the consequences. In paragraph eight, Divakaruni asks if
Americans are ready, if the bill is passed, to take responsibility for rendering these children homeless
and jobless.
Divakaruni is writing to inform her audience on child labor. Child labor is terrible, but the
repercussions from Americans stepping in may be worse. Divakaruni is trying to convince her
audience if America interferes there will be negative consequences. On the outside looking in, the way
of life of these children is appalling. However, without these jobs, many children would be left to
starve. Divakaruni relies primarily on emotion. In paragraph six, she ... Show more content on

She sees the audience as being neutral. Divakaruni takes time to state each side of the argument and
provides reasoning for both. She acknowledges that child labor is horrible. If the President signs off
on the bill, close to a million children will be unemployed. The audience has the best interest of the
children at heart. Divakaruni plays off the audience s emotions as she describes the hardships the
children will face if they were unemployed. The audience is seen as uninformed. Many people only
see the negatives of child labor, not the reasoning behind why they re working. These children work to
provide for their families and keep them from starving. Divakaruni helps to show the outcome if

Piano Song Analysis
JazzTrail had access to Matthew Shipp s luminous new album, Piano Song , to be released January
2017. Recorded in trio with the bassist Michael Bisio and the drummer Newman Taylor Baker, this
will be Matthew s last record on the Thirsty Ear label. These groundbreaking musicians display a
tremendous sound as they continue to embrace hypnotic textures within an idiosyncratic universe.
Shipp s elegant solo piano captivates in the solemn Links , the opening tune, while Cosmopolitan
brings Miles Davis So What to mind through Bisio s evocative bass line and Shipp s suggestive
melodies. Both the bassist and the drummer had the opportunity to express themselves individually

Private Label Rights Content ( Plr )
Private Label Rights Content (PLR) is material that was created by a developer who has agreed to
distribute licensing rights that provide people with the opportunity to revamp, re package and resell
the product as their own creation.
Consider the possibilities if you knew exactly how to take existing content and transform it into a
brand new info product that you could sell as your own without ever having to lift a finger in
developing anything yourself.
This is exactly how thousands of online entrepreneurs penetrate new markets without ever having to
invest a lot of time and money into creating their own products from the ground floor up. They simply
take existing material, rework it so that it s essentially a fresh new product and ... Show more content

One thing to keep in mind however is that when using private label content to create your own info
product, you absolutely need to spend some time tweaking the content.
It s never a good idea to use PLR content in its original form, because despite the quality, it can still be
improved by simply going over the material, eliminating unnecessary information, and of course,
injecting your own personal style and brand into the content.
You also want to modify the content so that it is not identical to what other people are selling. You d
be surprised at just how many people fail to make simple changes that would improve PLR content,
and by spending just a bit of time making the info product your own, you will be able to use existing
material to develop a brand new release.
To help you get started, here is a check list of things you should do when using private label content to
create your own info product:
Review The Material
If you are planning on using a private label based ebook, make sure that you read over the content
yourself so that you can get a feel for the overall quality, as well as the flow of the material. Don t
assume that the material is of high quality and can be used as is , without personally reviewing the
entire document.
If you are going to give the content your personal stamp of approval, and feature it as your own info
product, you want to make absolutely certain that the info product represents your brand in a positive
way.

Compare And Contrast Beowulf
Beowulf is an ancient epic telling of a hero named Beowulf and his quests throughout his life. Back in
Anglo Saxon time, this epic, like much of their literature, was not written, but spoken. By the time it
was written down by the Romans, it could have been told in many different variations. We read the
epic, and then saw the 2007 film adaptation of the epic that was directed by Robert Zemeckis, and
there was a great number of differences in the characters and their traits, and the plot of the epic. One
of the major differences between the epic and the movie was Beowulf himself. Besides him trying to
further his fame at any cost to be remembered, he was a very different character in the movie than he
was in the epic. First off, in the epic he is a stronger than anyone anywhere in the world and shows no
weaknesses at all (110 111). But, in the movie, he had a weakness for beautiful women, and whenever
he was confronted by one, he would forget his objective and would give in to their beauty. ... Show

In the movie, Hrothgar named Beowulf as his heir and jumped from Herot to his death immediately
afterwards. This is a huge difference in plot and a dramatic change from the original epic. The original
was better for the epic, because the movie s take on this didn t make sense. Even if Hrothgar named
Beowulf as his heir, the Danish people wouldn t allow that, because Beowulf wasn t Danish. And even
if they allowed it, why would Beowulf accept it? He was well on his way to becoming the king of his
homeland, which is what happened in the epic. This change in plot wasn t, in my opinion, the best
idea. It was too different from the

Analysis Of Acts Portrayal Of Receiving The Holy Spirit
An Analysis of Acts Portrayal of Receiving the Holy Spirit
Introduction
Christians have consistently struggled with defining the nature of the Triune God: Father, Son, and
Holy Spirit. The Old Testament clearly spoke of the majesty and sovereignty of the Father. The Son
was foretold in the Old Testament and manifested in the incarnation of Jesus, who walked among
mankind and gave men direction by His words. Jesus described that He would send the Holy Spirit to
help and minister to believers after Jesus went to be with the Father in heaven. The Holy Spirit
showed evidence of His coming in the testimony of the writer of Acts. Since that time, theologians
have debated the work that the Holy Spirit continues to conduct and certain actions that some believe
to have been discontinued. This paper will consider how the author of Acts described the receiving of
the Holy Spirit which the apostles and other believers experienced and how other theologians have
interpreted the descriptions provided in the book of Acts.
The Holy Spirit s Action of Coming to the Apostles in Acts
Jesus spoke to His disciples after His resurrection and shared that He would leave them, but that the
Father would send what He had promised (Luke 24:49). The author of the book of Luke, which was
written by the same person who wrote the books of Acts, continues this conversation in Acts 1:4 8.
Jesus described that they would be baptized with the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:8). He also said that they

Herman Melville Research Paper
Raju Singh
Mrs. McDaniel
American Literature
Herman Melville Progress is key to living life, but if one is advancing through life with the motivation
of revenge, then, in actuality, he or she is truly regressing. Revenge is an extremely corruptive trait. It
causes people to do uncharacteristic things that normally would not be done. The perception of right
and wrong is blurred and one takes inadvertent actions that may cost friendships, possessions, and
even lives. Revenge is often a major motivating factor in the characters that are in the works written
during the Dark Romanticism period. One of the most celebrated and influential American authors in
history, Herman Melville, was born on August 1, 1819; his reputation was not quite ... Show more

On September 28, 1891 just after midnight, Melville suffered a heart attack and died, leaving Billy
Budd in manuscript (Rollyson xxiv). Billy Budd was published posthumously. Moby Dick is
considered to be one of, if not the, best novels in American history. Harper amp; Brothers first
published it in 1851 in New York. In England, it was published in the same year under the title, The
Whale ( Moby Dick ). Melville explores topics and themes that were scarcely spoken of and never
even seen in a novel. In the novel, the Pequod, which is the ship, is named after a Native American
tribe that was exterminated when the white settlers arrived. It is a symbol of death and doom and
foreshadows event that occur later in the novel. Melville brings some very controversial themes to
light in the novel. Revenge is one of the main themes of Dark Romanticism and Melville uses it to
drive every action taken by Ahab. This is seen early on in the novel as Ahab explains to the crew why
he has a peg leg and that he wants to enact his revenge on Moby Dick (Melville 160 161). Moby Dick
is, fundamentally, a revenge tragedy. It s about one man s maniacal obsession with vengeance. It s
about finding an object on which to pin all you anger and fear and rage, not only about your own
suffering, but also about the suffering of all mankind ( Moby

The Seriousness of Dui and the Army Regulations That...
Driving while under the influence is a serious charge and there a several different army regulations
that govern it. The primary regulation that governs it is article 112 of the uniformed code of military
justice. DUI is a very serious offense, but when faced with a DUI while serving in the military, it
means the consequences can and usually are much more severe. If someone who is a member of the
armed forces finds him or herself facing a Military DUI charge, there are a number of differences
regarding a military DUI compared to a civilian DUI charge. The first difference is that when a person
is in the military, their case can be tried in a military court. The military has a different criterion for

There are several repercussions for service members of all branches caught driving while intoxicated.
Under Army Regulations, if a service member s BAC is between 0.05 and 0.079, their driving
privileges and military driver s license can be suspended for 90 days. If their BAC is 0.08 or more, the
license will be revoked for a year. Two DUI convictions within five years will result in a five year
revocation of the license, and three alcohol related traffic offenses will result in the permanent loss of
their military driver s license. To reinstate their driver s license after a DUI incident, service members
must complete the ASAP training, take remedial drivers training, and possess a valid state driver s
license before they can obtain a letter from their commander recommending reinstatement. In addition
to a license suspension, service members who are caught driving with a BAC of 0.05 or more may
receive a General Officer Memorandum of Reprimand, which can be filed locally or in their
permanent file. Those caught driving with a BAC of 0.1 or more are in violation of the Uniform Code
of Military Justice and face either a court martial or, more commonly, a non judicial action (Article
15) from their commander. Under Article 15, the maximum punishment could include for E 4 and
below: loss of all rank to E 1, loss of half of one month s pay for two months, and up to 60 days of
extra duties and restriction to the garrison.

Essay On The Colony Of Virginia
The colony of Virginia was founded by a stock company: the Virginia Company. To attract people
Virginia made a wonderful charter. Emigrants who paid their own way to Virginia got fifty acres of
land. There would not be mere tenants. Civil authority would control the military. A council of
burgesses, representatives chosen by the inhabitants of the colony for their government, would be
convened as the House of Burgesses. The governor could veto their actions and the company still had
overall control of the venture, but the settlers would have a say in their own government, including the
right of the House of Burgesses to introduce money bills. The King s court appointed a royal governor,

The governor chose six people in the colony to be in his council. The other fifteen people were chosen
by the king because of their family and wealth. In all, there were twenty two members that attended.
All the representatives were English. Each of the Virginian counties had sent a representative to the
house. The first meeting was on July 30, 1619. It was held in the choir of the church on Jamestown
Island. It lasted for six days, but was cut short by the disease, Malaria. Problems began to strike, like a
massacre from the Native Americans where they killed 400 colonists. As hard as the government tried
to conceal the problems, the king heard about them. He made virginia a crown colony. The king
divided the colony into eight shires. By 1643, there were 15 shires! Most jobs were simply
commanded to people. Only the representatives got votes to represent. Each shire would send a vote
for a representative to go and work in the House, rather than have it be just rich people. White men
that were seventeen years old or older and owned land were able to vote for these representatives. In
1652, Oliver Cromwell forced Jamestown to admit that they had been taken over. However, that did

The Year Of 2013 And My Bowling Career
It is the year of 2013 and my bowling career is starting to kick off. In that year, I bowled in a Saturday

never performed as well as I should have. Hopefully, this will be the year that I make some

From the happy expression on their faces you might have supposed that they welcomed the war. I
have met with men who loved stamps, and stones, and snakes, but I could not imagine any man loving
war. Margot Asquith revealed her discontent with war in this quote. War is defined in the American
Heritage Dictionary as a concerted effort or campaign to combat or put an end to something
considered injurious. A rather contradicting definition from the dictionary when one examines war s

But even this maturity could not save him from the jaws of death. Before the war, Paul was a scholar
who had ambitions and hopes for success in life. Unfortunately, war quenched that desire for success
as revealed in the book when he returned home for a short stay. Paul s self confidence and sense of
belonging in society was gone. He no longer shared any interest in his books, felt melancholic most of
the time, and do not have the same outlook towards life as others did. Even though Paul tried very
hard at concealing his inner emotions and to stage a bold front, it is not very difficult for the reader to
see that a psychological battle was taking place inside him. I ought to have never come here. Out there
I was indifferent and often hopeless I will never be able to be so again. Paul reveals that his trip home
made him realize the destructive effects war had on his character and he regretted going home.
Another challenge to Paul s mental strength came when he was in one of the enemy s trenches. In that
trench, Paul came face to face with a French soldier, whom he considered his enemy. It was in that
trench that he found out that French soldiers were just as human as German soldiers. Confusion struck
Paul as he tried to make sense of the common German soldier belief that all French are animals and
should be killed without mercy. For the first time, Paul was overcome by emotions after killing a

Replace Traditional Components Like Diesel Generators Essay
ABSTRACT The aim of this paper is to replace traditional components like diesel generators which
are used to generate power in a microgrid with renewable energy sources for an Air force field
deployable hospital (AFFDH). In this paper we assume that Air force field deployable hospital
consumes approximately 70KVA of peak power. ETAP software is used to operate for island and grid
connected mode and also load flow and short circuit analysis are performed on the system for variety
of load and fault scenarios.
INTRODUCTION
Usage of renewable energy resources in production of electricity is considered as effective method for
environment and also for future generation by saving up the fossil fuels. The investments on the
renewables in United States in 2014 is about $38.3billion [1].The renewable energy usage is
increasing in United States mainly because of the state and local governments, utility companies and
other private investors. The U. S Department of Defense is the largest consumer of electric energy, it
is about 54% of the total government use [3][4]. Generally, for the Department of defense existing
commercial power is used or diesel generators. But the cost of fuel keeps on increasing and diesel
generators are not that feasible compared to new technologies. During natural disasters or other
attacks usage of diesel generators is not that recommendable because the cost of investment is very
high and also maintain fuel supply is difficult.

Essay about The Genius that Was Pythagoras
What makes a person considered a genius? All of our opinions are different on what we think a genius
is. For example, Einstein and Mozart were both considered geniuses but Mozart s talent came
naturally where as Einstein had mentors help him along the way. Pythagoras was known as the first
pure mathematician. So was Pythagoras considered a genius? Pythagoras was most well known for
what we know today as the Pythagorean Theorem and also that the sum of all the angles in a triangle
is equal to two right angles. This is my reasoning on why I think Pythagoras was not considered what
we think a genius is. Pythagoras was born around 569 BC on the island of Samos, Greece. When he
was older he went to Crotone and this is where Pythagoras founded ... Show more content on

These are some more things that Pythagoras was credited for: The sum of all the angles on a triangle is
equal to two right angles, constructing figures of a given area and geometrical algebra, finding of
irrational numbers, the five regular solids, and that Earth was a sphere in the middle of the Universe.
So, by the information above you would probably think that Pythagoras was considered a genius. Plus
some of the things he was credited for were very unlikely that he even did them. For example the five
regular solids (Tetrahedron, Cube, Octahedron, Icosahedron, and Dodecahedron) that he was credited
for he only knew how to construct the first 3 above and not the icosahedron and the dodecahedron.
(Douglass) Also his discovery of irrational numbers was highly unlikely due to his philosophy of all
things are numbers and numbers to Pythagoras were the ratio of two whole numbers. So overall , I
think Pythagoras was a very intelligent man. Pythagoras had to be very bright to be the master of the
Pythagorean School and have one of his students be Plato, a famous Greek philosopher. But was he a
genius? I think the Pythagorean Theorem was a genius theory and the Babylonians in Mesopotamia
who did the theory first should be considered geniuses, but not Pythagoras. I think this way mainly
because

Relationship between Mechanical Reproduction, Art and Culture
Marxist criticism concerns itself with class differences and the modes of production that produce

function will be based on how many times it can be reproduced. Horkheimer and Adorno describe the
culture industry as, millions participate in it, certain reproduction processes are necessary that
inevitably require identical needs in innumerable places to be satisfied with identical goods (1256).
Benjamin argues that as soon as the authenticity is lost, art s function is transformed. Horkheimer and
Adorno describe a new function of art, to produce for mass consumption. Those in control of the
modes of production want to replace the ritual value with a exhibition value to increase profit. Thus
creating a bigger divide between the working class and the upper class. Art is being given a new value
under capitalism. Benjamin suggests that what is being created within the society is correlated to that
value that society puts on art. The quality of art being produced will shift from the cult value and the
exhibition value. As Horkheimer and Adorno describe as art being created for almost instantaneous
disposal, the culture doesn t allow art to be held on to but rather be discarded for the new. Mechanical

Arranged Marriage In America
Americans should consider a less conventional way of meeting a potential partner that would one day
be their future husband/wife. An arranged marriage is another option people should consider when
finding a person to settle down with. Such arrangement is not forcing anyone into marriage instead it
is a mutual decision. A professor of Sociology conducted a study that showed 35% of 200 married
couples in America would press a button that could dissolve their marriage if they were given the
chance to (Folsom 1). Marriages that suffer a serious dissatisfaction are due to the premature
knowledge of their spouse and impulsive actions. It is safe to say, that over one half of all marriages in
the United States are unhappy. Thus, Americans should ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Agreeing to an arranged marriage is no different from going online and signing up for matchmaking
services or online dating sites. In fact, since 2013 online dating sites have tripled for adults in their
20s, 40s and 50s. With the use of technology, people can register online to dating sites, and after
including their values and interests, they get instant results on their perfect match. This process is no
different from having parents and family members introduce a person to their son/daughter. Online
dating sites are an evasion of privacy. It requires for members to have personal information available
for thousands of people to see true or false. In addition, online dating sites require for the person to do
their own research to find someone. This may easily again lead to a relationship based purely on
physical attractiveness and information that may be false, instead of the foundation of a successful

Choosing Adoption Instead Of Abortion

Choosing Adoption Instead of Abortion
The National Adoption Center stated, There are no unwanted children. Just unfound families. This
quote shows the positive outlook that adoption agencies portray. When a parent chooses not to keep
custody of a child, the child then becomes available for other parents to adopt them. Once adopted the
child has an opportunity to have a regular life with people who will love and provide for them. If that
adult had chosen to not keep the child, then they wouldn t have had a chance to become an adult or
even be born. The option of adoption should be used to replace abortion.
Abortion is way stop your pregnancy. A study at Guttmacher Institute has shown statistics about
mothers who have abortions. 56% are unmarried, 61% already have children, and 58% are in their 20
s. 21% of all unplanned pregnancies end in abortion (Abortion in the United States). The Guttmacher
Institute study states, 69% are economically challenged, and 73% report religious affiliation. 4 in 10
unplanned pregnancies end in abortion. These stats show the way that unexpected pregnancies are
dealt with.
Adoption has evolved into a wonderful option. Recently, the phrase give up and abortion have become
synonymous, but women aren t giving up anything ( giving up ).As a birth mother, a sense of
empowerment is felt in the knowledge that they ve created a child. They get the reassurance that their

The Management Of Mental Health Disorders
Psychiatry and psychology work together in treating and diagnosing mental disorders. Mental illness
include abnormalities in the emotional, mental, and behavioral areas of an individual s life. Mental
disorders are diagnosed by the outlined criteria, in approved diagnostic manuals. The management of
mental health disorders involves a combination therapy of drugs and psychotherapy such as
electroconvulsive therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy as well as others, depending on the disease.
The treatment can be outpatient or inpatient depending on the disease severity. Some patients or their
family may question the effect of the treatment they receive, like medicine, because of the constant
change of therapy plans and modifications in prescription. Although some treatments have been
questioned on their effectiveness, psychotherapy has a positive outcome in patients.
There is much thought around psychiatry with people questioning the efficiency of the psychiatric
treatment and others arguing that mental disorders do not exist. Individuals with anti psychiatric views
claim that the treatments that are used for mental illnesses are ineffective, unsafe, unnecessary, and are
not any helpful to the patients. Questions have arisen that psychiatry hand out medicine freely and that
certain measures used in the treatment of mental illnesses like lobotomy, an operation that disconnects
connections in the front of the brain, and electro convulsion that send electric currents to create

Effective Airline Security Measures Are Overdue As far back as 1955, terrorist threats against the

fewer cases implemented. The fact that there is a terrorist threat against our nation s airline industry
has not changed, but the methods that these radicals employ to bring harm to travelers has grown
much more sophisticated. The techniques in use by the government and the airline industry to prevent

Terrorist threats and hijackings, many involving live explosives, plagued civil aviation again in the
early 1970s. It took another disaster and more than a decade for the U.S. government to again take a
serious look at airline security.
This push was provided by the June 1985 plunge into the sea of an Air India flight near Ireland as the
result of a powerful explosion in its cargo hold and a hijacking the next month of TWA Flight 847
from Athens. (Federal Aviation Administration, 2001) The FAA ordered U.S. air carriers to tighten
security at major airports in other countries. And U.S. air carriers overseas were under FAA orders to
match every piece of luggage with every passenger to defeat the possibility that a terrorist might check
a suitcase containing a bomb, then not take the flight. Since that date, more than 24 fatal explosions
have been recorded on aircraft around the world. Despite this evidence, the U.S. has made little real
progress toward countering such threats to our airlines and their passengers. Today, only a small
percentage of passenger baggage on domestic flights is screened for explosives. (Federal Aviation
Administration) U.S. officials historically have responded to aviation disasters by proposing flurries of
security measures, only to roll back many of them when airlines objected and the public s focus on the

English 111 Lights, Camera, and Tactics Have you ever wondered where the photo of your favorite

look at the paparazzi, the celebrities, the tactics used to take the pictures, and the tactics used to avoid
a photo from being taken.
The Paparazzi
The paparazzi are possibly the most despised media practitioners. Members of this group can be seen
on the streets of Los Angeles and New York, hoping to catch an unguarded moment of a celebrity,
buying coffee, walking a dog, or doing just about any mundane activity. (Mendelson 1) ... Show more

Valdez writes,
Everything from disguises to decoys are used to avoid recognition in public places. At times,
celebrities use multiple cars to cover travel routes. False press statements and an alias can cover a
celebrity s whereabouts. More low tech solutions involve canopies over outdoor events and good old
fashioned bruiser security to keep the paparazzi at bay. (Valdez 6)
There are numerous tactics used to one up the paparazzi, including releasing photos of weddings and
first photos of their newborn babies to publications before the paparazzi can. Valdez reports, Catherine
Zeta Jones and Michael Douglas took perhaps some of the most famous and extreme set of measures
to keep paparazzi out of the picture at their wedding. The security measures cost over $60,000, which
included: All of the caterers, help, suppliers and any other vendors associated with the wedding had to
sign confidentiality agreements (even the ones that didn t get the job). And No wedding guests were
given the time or location of the wedding until the last minute. (Valdez 6) But even with the enormous
measures taken, paparazzo Rupert Thorpe managed to infiltrate the wedding and snap shots of the
bride and groom that he later sold to publications Hello! and The Sun. The celebrity couple was
furious and sought legal action, won a nominal settlement against the publications. (Valdez 6)
Supermodel Heidi Klum took a similar approach to keep paparazzi away from her daughter.

The Role Of Animals In Egyptian Mythology
According to the ancient myth, Seth ruled over the Upper Egypt, while Horus ruled over the Lower
Egypt. There are also other gods in Egyptian mythology that possess the animalistic appearance. Some
of the most well known examples are: Anubis, the god of embalming and the dead, Thoth, the god of
writing and knowledge, Sobek, the god of the Nile, Bastet, the protective goddess and many other
gods. All of these gods have their animal forms and manifestation, their significance was closely
connected to animals they stood for. Actually, the animal they represented was determining the
characteristics of a certain deity, for example, the birds such as hawk or ibis were often considered the
symbol of wisdom and protection. Horus, for instance, was often listed as the protective god of the
Egyptians, the one who protects the pharaoh, and he possesses the head of the hawk. ... Show more

Montana 1948 Symbolism
The symbolism of looks can be deceiving , is a connection I found in the two films, The Dark Knight,
directed by Christopher Nolan, and Little Tombstone, directed by Fredric Azais et al, as well as
finding a connection with the novel, Montana 1948 written by Larry Watson. Through my aspects of
colour, sound, symbolism and character, it has become the foundation of my ideas that convey my
developed concept, between these three subjects. The short film, Little Tombstone has a significant
use of colour, as the film is firstly introduced with the flashes of white bullet holes, with the
supporting technique of sound; the buzzing fly, as well as old western music, already indicating to the
audience of the set of place, as well as time era. To ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To me the three mix of colours automatically point out more death, however the set of it is more
described, with the colour white and black, as it gives off a dull, grave and quiet atmosphere. This is
supported even more with the use of no dialogue; seen as a critical communicator amongst each of the
characters. To me the Director s purpose was to show the strangeness between each character, as each
of them seemed as though none of them personally knew one another. This links back to the film the
Dark knight, in the beginning during the bank robbery, as each criminal kills off the other for the
higher reward, soon enough the Joker appears just as the priest, both seen as the vulture letting others
do their dirty work. The feel of strangeness is also related to the text Montana 1948, as the aftermath
result of Frank s death. The cemetery they made a point of standing on opposite side of the grave from

purpose was to portray the symbolism, of the indifferent perception of deceit, as Julian had hard

Pros And Cons Of Police Demand
A1. Factors that are influencing labor demand.
The Mayor of the city has enacted a new policy of increasing police patrols in high crime areas in an
attempt to reduce crime rates. To meet the demands of this policy, 25 additional police officers are
required. Due to staff shortages, the department has been under public scrutiny for its excessive work
hours and overtime burdens that the current staff handles to meet demands.
The police department is experiencing an aging workforce as the average age on the force is 45 years
old. Within the next few years 24% of the current force will be eligible for retirement, which will
leave vacancies that will need to be back filled.
An additional factor that affects labor demand is the current labor union contract that requires the
department to provide opportunity to promote from within. Between vacancies left behind from
retirement and promotion changes, it has been noted that approximately one quarter of the current
force will need to be replaced. These three factors increase demand for a large number of new recruits
in this department.
A2. Factors that are influencing labor supply.
Fulfilling the city s need to hire new police officers has been a challenge. One factor that affects the
labor supply is an aging workforce. Some of the best quality candidates come from recent college
graduates and former military personnel. College age adults are choosing to attend out of state schools

The government owned corporations play a pivotal role in the economic development of emerging
economies because their participation is higher in the industrial and commercial activities of these
economies. Resource constraints and limited scope of the private sector in the early stages of

Expressionism In Edvard Munch s The Scream
Looking like a scene out of a horror movie, The Scream is one of the most famous Expressionist
paintings in the world. During the end of the nineteenth century, Expressionism arose as an art
movement, wherein poets and artists began to use their works to express their inner feelings and
emotions (Wolf). One of the influential expressionists at that period was Edvard Munch, who was a
Norwegian artist and who painted The Scream in four distinct versions, from tempera to pastel to
crayon (Shabi). After this painting was released, it immediately caught people s attention because
Munch used exaggerated colors and simple shapes, which was not common at that time, to portray the
skull like faced individual and the landscape. In addition, the painting provoked questions regarding
the inspiration of Munch because the great masses were curious to know the hidden messages behind
the painting. Therefore, if the audiences examine The Scream closely, they will notice Munch had
utilized various art techniques to demonstrate his painting as a form of therapy that can appeal to the
audiences emotions, logic, and sense of credibility. Munch used many straight and curved lines to
make appeals to the audiences emotions in his painting. With the use of different lines, Munch has
successfully moved his audiences attention to the skull like faced individual. In his painting, the sex of
the skull like faced individual is vague because one cannot determine based on his or her appearance

The Literary Aspects Of Science Fiction And Detective Fiction
The literary genres of science fiction and detective fiction offer differing approaches when addressing
a contextual fear of the unknown, as the former poses the question of what if? rather than answering
these fears as the latter does. Exemplars of this include Ray Bradbury s A Sound of Thunder and
Conan Doyle s The Adventures of the Dancing Men as their societal context necessitated a narrative to
address the notion of foreign. These short stories employ various conventions as they both alleviate
and build upon the public s fear through notions such as justice, help and control.
Both science and detective fiction possess inherent conventions that allow them to contextually
address society s fear of foreignness contrarily. Science fiction, as a genre, asks what if? , providing
alternative possibilities of reality, a concept emphatically prevalent in time travel. The fantastic
elements of time travel are considered in direct contrast to known reality (Burton 106) in order to
address contextual fears by asking, rather than answering, the question of what if? . This ability to
view and change the past and future thus encourages the genre to address contextual fears by
providing alternatives to reality (Ní Fhlainn 180). Detective fiction takes the opposite approach
however, as its inherent desire to solve consequently requires answering society s fears. This genre
provides a process of question and answer in regards to addressing fears and ultimately engages in a

Transcendent Themes In Hamlet
Hamlet
Transcendent Themes in a Disinterested Age
Modernized versions of classic performances often run into the issue of being simply too long for a
modern audience to sit through, with the dangers of audiences simply being too bored in an age where
the average movie is about 110 minutes. By making decisions that appeal to the visual side of Hamlet
as opposed to altering the auditory work in any way Kenneth Branagh succeeds in maintaining both
artistic authenticity and audience in a way that has not been replicated in modern times. Hamlet,
released in 1996 starring and directed by Kenneth Branagh follows William Shakespeare s tragedy
precisely and successfully overcomes the risks by make the film more digestible for a modern
audience are with its imagery, themes, and line delivery, this success is showcased at it s most
masterful upon looking at the soliloquies that Hamlet delivers with his act 4 scene 4 soliloquy being
the pinnacle of mixing the source material and modern appeal.
Hamlet, as a stage play first performed in 1609 was limited by the technology of its day in terms of the
visuals it could provide its audience, however Kenneth Branagh s version had no such limitations and
took full advantage of the progressed technology in order to engross the audience. During the act 4

Essay about The Pros and Cons of Welfare
Imagine you are standing in a grocery line, waiting patiently for your turn, watching the lady in front
of you put her cart full of name brand food on the counter. You are thinking, How is she going to pay
for all this stuff? Right then, she pulls out a book of stamps (not postage, either) and pays the cashier
one hundred and fifty dollars. With the fifty dollar bill she has stashed away in her wallet, the lady
then proceeds to buy two cartons of cigarettes and a magazine. Has this ever happened to you? Does it

This new welfare reform has helped to reduce recipients, but like all other plans, it has its
shortcomings.
On one hand, many people are coming off the rolls and finding jobs. But on the other hand, finding a
minimum wage job is not a ticket out of poverty. The chore of putting people off welfare and into the
work force can be difficult because welfare pays more than minimum wage, because there are no
incentives for a person to work, and because recipients are stuck in their lifestyle (Long 9). Also, the
task of decreasing recipients can be especially hard because cutting the line between who needs and
who does not need welfare could possibly leave deserving people without a penny in their pocket. For
example, West Virginia Women s Commission reports that in female headed households in which the
woman worked less than full time, 46 percent of families were below the poverty level ( ). These
statistics not only include women, but the children living in the household, too. Many citizens are also
concerned with children who may go malnourished if their parents loose benefits. This concern is
definitely justifiable. Alexandra Marks, of the Christian Science Monitor, reports that of the ten U.S.
counties with the highest concentrations of children living in poverty, four are in the Appalachian
Mountains. Specifically, McDowell County in West Virginia, is ranked fifth, with 60.4 percent of

Systematic Worth In Fahrenheit 451
Systematic Worth: How Society Has Caused Imperfection by Reaching for Perfection No one knows
you better than you know yourself. This fabled quote implies a sense of of self awareness for an
individual, and in a way, it passively rejects the societal norms and outside judgements towards that
individual. However, the world seeks a systematic approach to determining the capability and worth of
individuals. This system, whether imposed by the government, social norms, or society itself, will
always create problems for individuals because of the individuality of each human being. This makes
a perfect model impossible. The next question is why? Why do people depend on validation from such
an imperfect system when it only causes problems? Is there any other type of worth that rewards more
than systematic validation , perhaps capable of connecting to the uniqueness of the individual on a
personal level? Worth is more meaningful when determined by the individual rather than by a system
because true worth comes from within, as opposed to that of the fickle outside world. Self worth can
often be described as the sense of an individual s value as a person. Its importance relates to the key
question everyone asks themselves: what s the purpose of life? Self worth sometimes stresses people
to choose whatever decisions they make. In Fahrenheit 451, although Bradbury shows a bipolarity in
Guy s personality, Guy ultimately demonstrates this free will after a revelation of what

Before the 1980s, courts relied on testimony and eyewitness accounts as a main source of evidence.
Notoriously unreliable, these techniques have since faded away to the stunning reliability of DNA
forensics. In 1984, British geneticist Alec Jeffreys of the University of Leicester discovered an
interesting new marker in the human genome. Most DNA information is the same in every human, but
the junk code between genes is unique to every person. Junk DNA used for investigative purposes can
be found in blood, saliva, perspiration, sexual fluid, skin tissue, bone marrow, dental pulp, and hair
follicles (Phillips, 2008). By analyzing this junk code, Jeffreys found certain sequences of 10 to 100
base pairs repeated multiple times. These tandem repeats are also the same for all people, but the
number of repetitions is highly variable. Before this discovery, a drop of blood at a crime scene could
only reveal a person s blood type, plus a few proteins unique to certain people. Now DNA forensics
can expose a person s gender, race, susceptibility to diseases, and even propensity for high aggression
or drug abuse (Phillips, 2008). More importantly, the certainty of DNA evidence is extremely
powerful in court. Astounded at this technology s almost perfect accuracy, the FBI changed the name
of its Serology Unit to the DNAAnalysis Unit in 1988 when they began accepting requests for DNA
comparisons (Lewis, 1989).
There are thirteen standard tandem repeats used in modern forensics, and

Rolling On The River Analysis
From the creativity inputted, to the fine craftsmanship of this bronze sculpture, is the reason I chose
this particular artwork. This artwork is titled Rolling on the River by all american Joel Perlman. The
piece was dedicated in 2010. It is located between between Forbes Hall and Haskell Hall in the Lewis
and Clark Community College campus. Art has always been a crucial part of my life, being as it is
expression. The first time I came to Lewis and Clark, all I noticed was the splendiferous flowers and
the enchanting artwork. This alleviated a lot for my attendance at this school, just for the sole factor of
the campus s magnificence. My thesis is that anyway you decide to look at the sculpture, it seems to
be different at every angle. One could tell a lot of time and creativity was inputted into this. This
sculpture is made of pure bronze, with a sleek tint of coating. It sits on a stone platform, to what seems
to be limestone. There are six possibly seven rings that make up this piece of art. The rings have
multiple and various shaped welded on. It gives a sense of uncertainty as you focus more in depth
about it. Also feelings of a rebellious nature are provoked as it follows no given design, being
completely and utterly original. As syncopation, being an strongly accented beat in an unordinary ...

For example, I feel as if Joel Perlman wanted something to be completely innovational. Also, I feel his
set goal he strived to achieve was to make this artwork have definite flow, such as Freedom. Freedom
is to have no restraint, and this specific art has no boundaries in uniquity. As the construction of the art
was made, he made a point to give it a certain flow thus being titled, Rolling on the River. The bronze
establishes the depth of his concept. As shapes were welded onto each ring, there being no effort to
regularize this composition, truly makes every angle a new perspective to be

Jackie Robinson Was The Unthinkable
The Unthinkable
Jackie Robinson did the unthinkable and broke a color barrier that would change America forever. He
might have been one of the greatest to ever play the game of baseball. Not only did he change the path
of baseball he rerouted history completely. Many people believe that he is the reason that sports today
have been bi racially integrated. Robinson was the first African American to ever play in the major
leagues. He first played for the Kansas City Monarchs in the Negro leagues. Jackie Robinson was
known for breaking the color barrier in Major League Baseball when he first took the field for the
Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947. During his rookie season he was deemed rookie of the year. During the
1949 season Jackie was inducted onto the All star team. Jackie had many accomplishments throughout
his career including when the Dodgers beat the Yankees in the 1955 World Series. Jackie was known
on the field for his tenacity for the game, he was fast around the base path and power at the plate. He
is what every team wants in their day to day line ups.
Growing up Robinson faced many trials and tribulations. There is a story told about how he and his
friends were playing outside and an older Caucasian male started throwing rocks at them. He faced
multiple challenges everywhere he went. He stated that his Mother Mallie Robinson said that these
times were happening just to test his character. As he attended John Muir High school he was an
excellent athlete who starred in four

Twenty-Year Goal Research Paper
Twenty Year Goal
Background:
At the beginning of my high school journey (grade 6 onwards), I was very interested in becoming a
doctor. More specifically an orthopedic surgeon. Finding out that I could not go into my field due to
my hand tremors was difficult to take in at such a young age. Conducting more and more research as I
got older, showed me that coming into engineering would give me so many options to continue my
interest in biology, perhaps designing machines that could work more efficiently etc.
The last few years of high school made it obvious to me that engineering was the field I should go
into. Physics and math were my two favorite subjects, and I excelled in them. Aside from that, I
learned many leadership and time management ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The one I am most interested in is the Clean Snowmobile Team, as it combines two things I am
passionate about, snow (and skiing) and protecting the environment. I am hoping that by 2B, I will
have enough work experience and sufficient knowledge about engineering, to come up with creative,
and lateral ideas that could solve the problem of tailpipe emissions and noise pollution made by
current snowmobiles. 2B and 3A will give me a lot of time to find out more about myself. None of
these terms are considered to be hard, and so, I can use my extra time throughout the terms, to explore
different fields of mechanical engineering that I had not previously thought of. This would help me
find out if biomechanics is the right choice for me. 3B is the toughest term in undergraduate
mechanical engineering at the University of Waterloo. This will mean that I am going to have to focus
on my academics a lot more than previous semesters. This may eliminate my chance of joining student
teams, and play as many sports. This term is also an important one in terms of co op because I would
be looking for my first of final two jobs. This can help me decide my future, as many people return to
one of their last two co op jobs after

Discovering the Relationship Between the Law and My School
Grand Canyon University EDA 555
August 8, 2012
Sitting down to chat with any lawyer proves to be a difficult task unless of course you are paying
them. This was the case when attempting to complete this assignment as well, as our school lawyer
represents several schools in the area and he was busy working with another school. Instead the
questions were asked of our school principal, and our school superintendent over lunch during an in
service day. The answers given were very open and direct, and valuable insight was gained from the
view of the writer. The Sidney Community School District is located in Fremont County in
Southwestern Iowa. The federal district court for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With proper documentation, common sense, and data based decision making the threat of being sued
should not be a cause for panic, yet it must be considered due to the nature of the way society works at
the moment. In every position of leadership one is going to always run into those who disagree. Being
a true leader is not a popularity contest, rather it is making the best decisions in every situation for the
betterment of each student and for the school system as a whole. If, as a leader, you always do what
you feel is right, and you document everything accordingly using data to drive decisions, and properly
apply school policy and procedures in every situation the threat of a lawsuit, while not being
diminished, is not anywhere near as stressful. The legal system does not view a large difference
between private and public schools. Both are treated essentially the same with the obvious exception
of prayer in school, the religious teachings in a private school, the private school not being free , etc. It
was the view of the administrators interviewed that the differences between public and private schools
is shrinking due to the litigious society we live in. It is also thought that the differences will begin to
become even more minuscule, as the government wants to keep all schools on essentially the same
page. In terms of who has the ultimate legal control over the disposition and

The Center Of An Immaculate Quality Creation Essay
The center thought is to amplify client esteem while minimizing waste. Just, incline implies making
more esteem for clients with less assets. An lean association comprehends client esteem and centers its
key procedures to consistently build it. A definitive objective is to give impeccable worth to the client
through an immaculate quality creation handle that has zero waste. To finish this, incline thinking
changes the center of administration from streamlining separate innovations, resources, and vertical
offices to advancing the stream of items and administrations through whole esteem streams that
stream on a level plane crosswise over advances, resources, and offices to clients. Killing waste along
whole esteem streams, rather than at detached focuses, makes forms that need less human exertion,
less space, less capital, and less time to make items and administrations at far less expenses and with
many less deserts, contrasted and conventional business frameworks. Organizations can react to
changing client wants with high assortment, excellent, ease, and with quick throughput times.
Likewise, data administration turns out to be much less complex and more precise. lean for Production
and Services A mainstream misinterpretation is that lean is suited just to manufacture. Not genuine.
Incline applies in each business and each procedure. It is not a strategy or a cost lessening program,
but rather a state of mind and representing a whole association. Organizations in all

This necessary liquid solution, comprised of a specific arrangement of hydrogen and oxygen atoms, is known as water (What is Water Made of?). It is difficult to go through a day without the use of this liquid; whether it be satisfying your thirst on a hot summer day, washing dirty dishes after dinner, or taking a nice long hot bubble bath at the end of the day. After hearing these racist words many were quick to point the finger and blame it on hip hop. For years this particular genre of music has been the target for the numerous acts of violence, and racism throughout the country. Could the explicit rap lyrics that describes living in low income housing, poverty stricken neighborhoods, and violent communities really promote such vicious acts? Divakaruni has personal insight to how child laborers are treated in third world countries and how they live verses the United States. A preconception Divakaruni has is the United States tries to interfere and govern other countries without considering the consequences. In paragraph eight, Divakaruni asks if Americans are ready, if the bill is passed, to take responsibility for rendering these children homeless and jobless. Divakaruni is writing to inform her audience on child labor. Child labor is terrible, but the repercussions from Americans stepping in may be worse. Back in Anglo Saxon time, this epic, like much of their literature, was not written, but spoken. By the time it was written down by the Romans, it could have been told in many different variations. We read the epic, and then saw the 2007 film adaptation of the epic that was directed by Robert Zemeckis, and there was a great number of differences in the characters and their traits, and the plot of the epic. One of the major differences between the epic and the movie was Beowulf himself. Besides him trying to further his fame at any cost to be remembered, he was a very different character in the movie than he was in the epic. First off, in the epic he is a stronger than anyone anywhere in the world and shows no weaknesses at all (110 111). • 9. Analysis Of Acts Portrayal Of Receiving The Holy Spirit An Analysis of Acts Portrayal of Receiving the Holy Spirit Introduction Christians have consistently struggled with defining the nature of the Triune God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The Old Testament clearly spoke of the majesty and sovereignty of the Father. The Son was foretold in the Old Testament and manifested in the incarnation of Jesus, who walked among mankind and gave men direction by His words. Jesus described that He would send the Holy Spirit to help and minister to believers after Jesus went to be with the Father in heaven. The Holy Spirit showed evidence of His coming in the testimony of the writer of Acts. Since that time, theologians have debated the work that the Holy Spirit continues to conduct and certain actions that some believe to have been discontinued. This paper will consider how the author of Acts described the receiving of the Holy Spirit which the apostles and other believers experienced and how other theologians have interpreted the descriptions provided in the book of Acts. The Holy Spirit s Action of Coming to the Apostles in Acts Jesus spoke to His disciples after His resurrection and shared that He would leave them, but that the Father would send what He had promised (Luke 24:49). The author of the book of Luke, which was written by the same person who wrote the books of Acts, continues this conversation in Acts 1:4 8. Herman Melville Research Paper Raju Singh Mrs. McDaniel American Literature Herman Melville Progress is key to living life, but if one is advancing through life with the motivation of revenge, then, in actuality, he or she is truly regressing. The perception of right and wrong is blurred and one takes inadvertent actions that may cost friendships, possessions, and even lives. Moby Dick is considered to be one of, if not the, best novels in American history. Harper amp; Brothers first published it in 1851 in New York. In England, it was published in the same year under the title, The Whale ( Moby Dick ). Melville explores topics and themes that were scarcely spoken of and never even seen in a novel. In the novel, the Pequod, which is the ship, is named after a Native American tribe that was exterminated when the white settlers arrived. It is a symbol of death and doom and foreshadows event that occur later in the novel. Melville brings some very controversial themes to light in the novel. Revenge is one of the main themes of Dark Romanticism and Melville uses it to drive every action taken by Ahab. This is seen early on in the novel as Ahab explains to the crew why he has a peg leg and that he wants to enact his revenge on Moby Dick (Melville 160 161). Moby Dick is, fundamentally, a revenge tragedy. It s about one man s maniacal obsession with vengeance. It s about finding an object on which to pin all you anger and fear and rage, not only about your own suffering, but also about the suffering of all mankind ( Moby ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For example, Einstein and Mozart were both considered geniuses but Mozart s talent came naturally where as Einstein had mentors help him along the way. Pythagoras was known as the first pure mathematician. So was Pythagoras considered a genius? Pythagoras was most well known for what we know today as the Pythagorean Theorem and also that the sum of all the angles in a triangle is equal to two right angles. So, by the information above you would probably think that Pythagoras was considered a genius. Plus some of the things he was credited for were very unlikely that he even did them. For example the five regular solids (Tetrahedron, Cube, Octahedron, Icosahedron, and Dodecahedron) that he was credited for he only knew how to construct the first 3 above and not the icosahedron and the dodecahedron. (Douglass) Also his discovery of irrational numbers was highly unlikely due to his philosophy of all things are numbers and numbers to Pythagoras were the ratio of two whole numbers. So overall , I think Pythagoras was a very intelligent man. Pythagoras had to be very bright to be the master of the Pythagorean School and have one of his students be Plato, a famous Greek philosopher. But was he a genius? Horkheimer and Adorno describe the culture industry as, millions participate in it, certain reproduction processes are necessary that inevitably require identical needs in innumerable places to be satisfied with identical goods (1256). Benjamin argues that as soon as the authenticity is lost, art s function is transformed. Horkheimer and Adorno describe a new function of art, to produce for mass consumption. An arranged marriage is another option people should consider when finding a person to settle down with. Such arrangement is not forcing anyone into marriage instead it is a mutual decision. A professor of Sociology conducted a study that showed 35% of 200 married couples in America would press a button that could dissolve their marriage if they were given the chance to (Folsom 1). Marriages that suffer a serious dissatisfaction are due to the premature knowledge of their spouse and impulsive actions. With the use of technology, people can register online to dating sites, and after including their values and interests, they get instant results on their perfect match. This process is no different from having parents and family members introduce a person to their son/daughter. Online dating sites are an evasion of privacy. It requires for members to have personal information available for thousands of people to see true or false. In addition, online dating sites require for the person to do their own research to find someone. This may easily again lead to a relationship based purely on physical attractiveness and information that may be false, instead of the foundation of a successful relationship (Chapdelaine et al. ... Bell Mr. Steven Harris Freshman Honors English 05 February 2015 Choosing Adoption Instead of Abortion The National Adoption Center stated, There are no unwanted children. Just unfound families. This quote shows the positive outlook that adoption agencies portray. When a parent chooses not to keep custody of a child, the child then becomes available for other parents to adopt them. Once adopted the child has an opportunity to have a regular life with people who will love and provide for them. If that adult had chosen to not keep the child, then they wouldn t have had a chance to become an adult or even be born. The option of adoption should be used to replace abortion. Mental illness include abnormalities in the emotional, mental, and behavioral areas of an individual s life. Mental disorders are diagnosed by the outlined criteria, in approved diagnostic manuals. The management of mental health disorders involves a combination therapy of drugs and psychotherapy such as electroconvulsive therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy as well as others, depending on the disease. The treatment can be outpatient or inpatient depending on the disease severity. Some patients or their family may question the effect of the treatment they receive, like medicine, because of the constant change of therapy plans and modifications in prescription. Although some treatments have been questioned on their effectiveness, psychotherapy has a positive outcome in patients. There is much thought around psychiatry with people questioning the efficiency of the psychiatric treatment and others arguing that mental disorders do not exist. Individuals with anti psychiatric views claim that the treatments that are used for mental illnesses are ineffective, unsafe, unnecessary, and are not any helpful to the patients. It took another disaster and more than a decade for the U.S. government to again take a serious look at airline security. This push was provided by the June 1985 plunge into the sea of an Air India flight near Ireland as the result of a powerful explosion in its cargo hold and a hijacking the next month of TWA Flight 847 from Athens. (Federal Aviation Administration, 2001) The FAA ordered U.S. air carriers to tighten security at major airports in other countries. And U.S. air carriers overseas were under FAA orders to match every piece of luggage with every passenger to defeat the possibility that a terrorist might check a suitcase containing a bomb, then not take the flight. Since that date, more than 24 fatal explosions have been recorded on aircraft around the world. Despite this evidence, the U.S. has made little real progress toward countering such threats to our airlines and their passengers. The Mayor of the city has enacted a new policy of increasing police patrols in high crime areas in an attempt to reduce crime rates. To meet the demands of this policy, 25 additional police officers are required. Due to staff shortages, the department has been under public scrutiny for its excessive work hours and overtime burdens that the current staff handles to meet demands. The police department is experiencing an aging workforce as the average age on the force is 45 years old. Within the next few years 24% of the current force will be eligible for retirement, which will leave vacancies that will need to be back filled. An additional factor that affects labor demand is the current labor union contract that requires the department to provide opportunity to promote from within. Between vacancies left behind from retirement and promotion changes, it has been noted that approximately one quarter of the current force will need to be replaced. These three factors increase demand for a large number of new recruits in this department. A2. Factors that are influencing labor supply. During the end of the nineteenth century, Expressionism arose as an art movement, wherein poets and artists began to use their works to express their inner feelings and emotions (Wolf). One of the influential expressionists at that period was Edvard Munch, who was a Norwegian artist and who painted The Scream in four distinct versions, from tempera to pastel to crayon (Shabi). After this painting was released, it immediately caught people s attention because Munch used exaggerated colors and simple shapes, which was not common at that time, to portray the skull like faced individual and the landscape. In addition, the painting provoked questions regarding the inspiration of Munch because the great masses were curious to know the hidden messages behind the painting. • 39. The Literary Aspects Of Science Fiction And Detective Fiction The literary genres of science fiction and detective fiction offer differing approaches when addressing a contextual fear of the unknown, as the former poses the question of what if? rather than answering these fears as the latter does. Exemplars of this include Ray Bradbury s A Sound of Thunder and Conan Doyle s The Adventures of the Dancing Men as their societal context necessitated a narrative to address the notion of foreign. These short stories employ various conventions as they both alleviate and build upon the public s fear through notions such as justice, help and control. Both science and detective fiction possess inherent conventions that allow them to contextually address society s fear of foreignness contrarily. Science fiction, as a genre, asks what if? , providing alternative possibilities of reality, a concept emphatically prevalent in time travel. The fantastic elements of time travel are considered in direct contrast to known reality (Burton 106) in order to address contextual fears by asking, rather than answering, the question of what if? . This ability to view and change the past and future thus encourages the genre to address contextual fears by providing alternatives to reality (Ní Fhlainn 180). Detective fiction takes the opposite approach however, as its inherent desire to solve consequently requires answering society s fears. This genre provides a process of question and answer in regards to addressing fears and ultimately engages in a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

On one hand, many people are coming off the rolls and finding jobs. But on the other hand, finding a minimum wage job is not a ticket out of poverty. The chore of putting people off welfare and into the work force can be difficult because welfare pays more than minimum wage, because there are no incentives for a person to work, and because recipients are stuck in their lifestyle (Long 9). Also, the task of decreasing recipients can be especially hard because cutting the line between who needs and who does not need welfare could possibly leave deserving people without a penny in their pocket. For example, West Virginia Women s Commission reports that in female headed households in which the woman worked less than full time, 46 percent of families were below the poverty level ( ). This fabled quote implies a sense of of self awareness for an individual, and in a way, it passively rejects the societal norms and outside judgements towards that individual. However, the world seeks a systematic approach to determining the capability and worth of individuals. This system, whether imposed by the government, social norms, or society itself, will always create problems for individuals because of the individuality of each human being. This makes a perfect model impossible. The next question is why? Why do people depend on validation from such an imperfect system when it only causes problems? Is there any other type of worth that rewards more than systematic validation , perhaps capable of connecting to the uniqueness of the individual on a personal level? Worth is more meaningful when determined by the individual rather than by a system because true worth comes from within, as opposed to that of the fickle outside world. Self worth can often be described as the sense of an individual s value as a person. Its importance relates to the key question everyone asks themselves: what s the purpose of life? Notoriously unreliable, these techniques have since faded away to the stunning reliability of DNA forensics. In 1984, British geneticist Alec Jeffreys of the University of Leicester discovered an interesting new marker in the human genome. Most DNA information is the same in every human, but the junk code between genes is unique to every person. Junk DNA used for investigative purposes can be found in blood, saliva, perspiration, sexual fluid, skin tissue, bone marrow, dental pulp, and hair follicles (Phillips, 2008). By analyzing this junk code, Jeffreys found certain sequences of 10 to 100 base pairs repeated multiple times. These tandem repeats are also the same for all people, but the number of repetitions is highly variable. Before this discovery, a drop of blood at a crime scene could only reveal a person s blood type, plus a few proteins unique to certain people. Now DNA forensics can expose a person s gender, race, susceptibility to diseases, and even propensity for high aggression or drug abuse (Phillips, 2008). More importantly, the certainty of DNA evidence is extremely powerful in court. Astounded at this technology s almost perfect accuracy, the FBI changed the name of its Serology Unit to the DNAAnalysis Unit in 1988 when they began accepting requests for DNA comparisons (Lewis, 1989). My thesis is that anyway you decide to look at the sculpture, it seems to be different at every angle. One could tell a lot of time and creativity was inputted into this. This sculpture is made of pure bronze, with a sleek tint of coating. It sits on a stone platform, to what seems to be limestone. There are six possibly seven rings that make up this piece of art. The rings have multiple and various shaped welded on. It gives a sense of uncertainty as you focus more in depth about it. Also feelings of a rebellious nature are provoked as it follows no given design, being completely and utterly original. As syncopation, being an strongly accented beat in an unordinary ... Also, I feel his set goal he strived to achieve was to make this artwork have definite flow, such as Freedom. Freedom is to have no restraint, and this specific art has no boundaries in uniquity. As the construction of the art was made, he made a point to give it a certain flow thus being titled, Rolling on the River. The bronze establishes the depth of his concept. As shapes were welded onto each ring, there being no effort to regularize this composition, truly makes every angle a new perspective to be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 46. Twenty-Year Goal Research Paper Twenty Year Goal Background: At the beginning of my high school journey (grade 6 onwards), I was very interested in becoming a doctor. More specifically an orthopedic surgeon. Finding out that I could not go into my field due to my hand tremors was difficult to take in at such a young age. Conducting more and more research as I got older, showed me that coming into engineering would give me so many options to continue my interest in biology, perhaps designing machines that could work more efficiently etc. The last few years of high school made it obvious to me that engineering was the field I should go into. Physics and math were my two favorite subjects, and I excelled in them. Aside from that, I learned many leadership and time management ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The one I am most interested in is the Clean Snowmobile Team, as it combines two things I am passionate about, snow (and skiing) and protecting the environment. I am hoping that by 2B, I will have enough work experience and sufficient knowledge about engineering, to come up with creative, and lateral ideas that could solve the problem of tailpipe emissions and noise pollution made by current snowmobiles. 2B and 3A will give me a lot of time to find out more about myself. None of these terms are considered to be hard, and so, I can use my extra time throughout the terms, to explore different fields of mechanical engineering that I had not previously thought of. This would help me find out if biomechanics is the right choice for me. 3B is the toughest term in undergraduate mechanical engineering at the University of Waterloo. This will mean that I am going to have to focus on my academics a lot more than previous semesters. This may eliminate my chance of joining student teams, and play as many sports. This term is also an important one in terms of co op because I would be looking for my first of final two jobs. This can help me decide my future, as many people return to one of their last two co op jobs after ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Discovering the Relationship Between the Law and My School Grand Canyon University EDA 555 August 8, 2012 Sitting down to chat with any lawyer proves to be a difficult task unless of course you are paying them. This was the case when attempting to complete this assignment as well, as our school lawyer represents several schools in the area and he was busy working with another school. Instead the questions were asked of our school principal, and our school superintendent over lunch during an in service day. The answers given were very open and direct, and valuable insight was gained from the view of the writer. The Sidney Community School District is located in Fremont County in Southwestern Iowa. The federal district court for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With proper documentation, common sense, and data based decision making the threat of being sued should not be a cause for panic, yet it must be considered due to the nature of the way society works at the moment. In every position of leadership one is going to always run into those who disagree. Being a true leader is not a popularity contest, rather it is making the best decisions in every situation for the betterment of each student and for the school system as a whole. If, as a leader, you always do what you feel is right, and you document everything accordingly using data to drive decisions, and properly apply school policy and procedures in every situation the threat of a lawsuit, while not being diminished, is not anywhere near as stressful. The legal system does not view a large difference between private and public schools. Both are treated essentially the same with the obvious exception of prayer in school, the religious teachings in a private school, the private school not being free , etc. It was the view of the administrators interviewed that the differences between public and private schools is shrinking due to the litigious society we live in. It is also thought that the differences will begin to become even more minuscule, as the government wants to keep all schools on essentially the same page. In terms of who has the ultimate legal control over the disposition and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
