Double burden of malnutrition in India
Double burden of malnutrition in India Undernutrition and Overnutrition
Introduction
The nutritional double burden, encompassing both undernutrition (stunting, underweight and
wasting) and overnutrition (overweight and obesity), has become an important public health
challenge in many developing countries. Globally, an estimated 99 million under five year olds
were underweight in 2012, with the low and middle income countries of Asia accounting for more
than 70 percent of these undernourished children (WHO, 2012a). Although many developing
countries have achieved significant reductions in the prevalence of undernutrition during the past
two decades, the pace of decline was slow and insufficient to meet the Millennium Development
Goals ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, it is important that the issues of nutritional double burden in many developing countries
need to be addressed in the context of socioeconomic status. This could help identify the complex
interplay of social, economic, and political determinants of undernutrition and overnutrition.
Many developing countries are growing economically, and it can be expected that the prevalence
of undernutrition would decrease and obesity would become a problem among wealthy and
privileged classes. However, research has shown that obesity and associated non communicable
diseases(NCDs) are increasingly affecting all sectors of society, and the poor or disadvantaged are
more likely to be vulnerable to these health hazards (Khandelwal et al., 2013). Also, it can be seen
that many developing countries are still incapable of dealing with these health challenges of
nutritional double burden, therefore in order to minimize adverse nutritional outcomes, there need
to be a reconsideration of current policies and further understanding of these health challenges.
Prevalence and consequences of nutritional conditions in India
India is one of the developing countries which are experiencing multiple transitions in its nutritional
pattern along with a rapid socioeconomic development. The pace of poverty reduction in India has
been accelerating during the last ten years, but over 50 percent of the population in India is still
vulnerable to

Narrative Essay On Solar Eclipse
On August 21st of this year, my generation got to discover an event that I found absolutely breath
taking. A total solar eclipse passed over the United States, making it distinguishable in the afternoon
sky from the ground. The total solar eclipse only occurs when the moon aligns just directly in front
of the Sun, a sight which most people will never get to see in their lifetime. Three weeks back, I
bought glasses in preparation to see the full phenomenon. Myself and a few of my close friends
went on a mission to see the total eclipse from the best vantage point I could, which landed me a
tad bit south of Crossville, TN. I left campus Sunday night to join some friends back home who
were also anticipating the event. The next morning around... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

We drove at a speed in the range of 60 to 70 miles an hour, down an old narrow country road,
racing the eclipse so that we could experience it in the most ideal position possible. It was quite
dangerous as none of us had seat belts on and were holding on to the safety handle. The ride was
an adrenaline rush. Four or five minutes away we pulled off on the side and stepped away from
our cars. In a field, way out in what could only be described as B.F.E. Tennessee, we gathered
around on the side of the road and counted down to totality.
Scientists will tell you that the gravity is lighter on the surface of the earth directly amid a full
eclipse. To some degree, maybe the adrenaline and gravity were at fault for the emotional
reaction that I felt during the eclipse. The minute felt too dreamlike to be in any way genuine,
like a scene from a sci fi film or the start of the end of the world. The green hue of the sky just
before, rushing emotions, and all the people who had gathered in strange places to watch this event
together made it feel like an important moment in my life. And when the sun was completely
secured behind the shadow of the moon, all the light for miles around, went dark, and all went silent.
For around 30 seconds, I heard cicadas chirp the way they do at dusk. Looking up into the dark
afternoon sky was comparable to considering the eye of a divine being. I saw

Let us assume the linear relationship between price and quantity:Qty Sold = 750,000 + [{($.24.5
New Price)/($24.5 $22.50)} X 250,000]= 750,000 + {($.24.5 New Price) X 125,000}
When price is $20.6, the quantity is 1,242,425 and profit is $101, we come near to break even point.
To sum up, if Superior reduces the price of product 101, its profit will increase significantly to
breakeven.
Q.3 Why Superior Improved Profitability during the period January 1 to June 30, 2005? How
useful was the data in Exhibit 4 for the purpose of this analysis?
From Exhibit 4, we can see that the actual expenses are less than the standard ones, so the
reductions from those expenses lead to the improved profitability.
And the unit Sales of product 102 for period from January to June 2005 increased about 200,000
units compared to average of last year.
However, we still can not find the exact reasons for the reduction from Exhibit 4.

Gatsby and Hamlet Essays
Examining Hamlet and The Great Gatsby
1/9/13
According to Roger Lewis, The acquisition of money and love are both part of the same dream, the
will to return to the quintessential unity that exists only at birth and at death (41). In both William
Shakespeare s play, Hamlet, and F. Scott Fitzgeralds novel, The Great Gatsby, the protagonists are
willing to sacrifice all that they have in order to achieve their unrealistic objectives and ambitions,
resulting in their tragic demises. While there are many themes and concepts relevant to both Hamlet
and The Great Gatsby, their parallels regarding their aspirations stand out for further evaluation.
The concept of sacrificing all that a person has, not limiting to their own life, is ever ... Show more

Jay Gatsby spends years of his life involved in illegal activity in order to accumulate enough
wealth to be able to throw many parties, all for a possible chance to see his love once lost, Daisy.
In this, both Jay Gatsby and Prince Hamlet are willing to sacrifice all that they have, not limited to
themselves, in order to achieve their unrealistic goals. In comparison, Hamlet is content with
altering his life and his current relationships, all for the sake of being closer to his ultimate goal,
vengeance for his father.
Hamlet lacks faith in G d and himself. Consequently he must define his existence in terms of
others... He would like to become what the Greek Tragic hero is, a creature of situation. Hence his
inability to act, for he can only act , i.e., play at possibilities (Auden, W.H)
Hamlet is willing to act mad, ruining all of his relationships, not limited to his romantic life, for a
futile opportunity to get close enough to Claudius to kill him. Although both Jay Gatsby and
Prince Hamlet are willing to sacrifice all for their aspirations, Gatsby puts on a false front, while
Hamlet covers his; Gatsby pulls a facade as though he had been wealthy throughout his entire life,
while Hamlet feigns insanity. Gatsby has attempted to pull a facade of him having always been
wealthy, thus allowing him to be part of Daisy s circle. Gatsby claims to have inherited his vast
sum, hiding that he had actually self accumulated it over the years. By

Alexander The Great s Influence On The World
Alexander the Great Occasionally history shows that the world does not have many people that
could be entered in the history. And Alexander the Great was one of these people. During his
childhood Alexander had great teachers who taught him how to use and how to choose great
politics, diplomacy and, how to win the war if that day would come. For many years Alexander
the Great studied how to control everything and how to be ready to do anything that might be
needed. At the age of sixteen he had to become a king of big kingdom, because his father, Philip,
was in the war with Byzantium. Many people believed in Alexander because they knew that he
was different from other children in his age, he did not care about bodily pleasures or anything
like that, however, he had infinitely ambition which created him a good leader. Alexander
strengthened his position in the power, he tamed people that were trying to make a revolution to
take power in their hands. To get support from wealthy and other people in Alexander s kingdom,
he canceled taxes, and killed other people that might claim for the king s position. Alexander was
a great leader, and had plans to enter the war not only with some kingdoms, but to capture and
control all kingdoms and all lands, to have the great power without a trace. Alexander the Great
ruled his kingdom as a king that had tunneled his skills and had a good deal of experience in the
past. He was thankful that his father, Philip, gave him the best teachers

My Identity And Personal Identity
My purpose is to show my individuality and to express myself. This is for others including
myself, to see and to remind us that our identity is very complex. My parents immigrated to this
country from Mexico many years ago and they brought along their culture, which makes up a
major part of my identity. I am Mexican American and the stereotype that we have a lot of
members in our family is true, but it doesn t tell the full story. I have a lot of aunts, uncles, and
cousins and I am very grateful for them because each and every one of them has taught me
important lessons that have shaped who I am today. When all of us are together we stand out
because there are so many of us and we can also get very loud. We always know how to have a
good time and we re also the life of every party. Every Christmas eve we all get together at one of
our aunt s houses and celebrate the birth of Jesus. We set up a nacimiento, or Nativity set, made
of figurines that represent the ones who were present during his birth. We cover the set with
hay, surround it with little figurines of animals and drape Christmas lights all around the set.
Then we do a rosary and commemorate the ones in our family who have passed or could not
make it. During these celebrations we always have tamales, menudo, and hot chocolate. These
foods are very important to us because most of the women in the family get together the day
before the event and prepare the food. In this time we all have time to catch up on the latest
gossip and drama that is going on in our lives. One thing that I have recently been interested in
again is the traditional Aztec dances and rituals. When I was younger I used to participate in the
dances with my mother but we had to quit due to the long and late hours of practice. I have
started to go to retreats where we spend most of our nights dancing and praying to temples and
different gods. Doing this makes me feel more connected to my ancestral roots and i feel a sense
of pride. Religion plays an important role in my life. I identify as catholic, but there are some
thing that me and my family don t follow. We don t go to church often and when we do it s only
for important events. This is because we ve had bad experiences with

Examples Of Homelessness In Canada
Homelessness in Canada... I actually didn t think that it was present in this country, moreover in
the City of Toronto. I always thought that most people here are rich enough to do whatever they
want and that being homeless is not really a possibility for them. Likewise, I also thought the same
for homeless youth because if you look around, most of the kids are privileged and can get
whatever they want. Prior to the trip, homelessnessdid not really occur to me as a real thing
presently occurring in Canada. Being that I have always considered Canada as a country where
we can find better opportunities and the better life we always seek. This was my first trip and so I

they have been through or the past they tried to run away from. Instead of trying to avoid homeless

The Theory Of Corporate Social Responsibility
Historical background of the development of CSR is almost as important as the ongoing
discussion on what CSR is and how and where it should operate. Many scholars argue that these are
not interchangeable and need to be assessed in conjunction with each other. For purposes of this
paper it is pivotal to look into the past to see what stood behind the broadening of companies
accountability beyond the standard agency theory (limited liability of shareholders for the company
s violations or breach and the company s main accountability being towards its shareholders and
investors only) to the stakeholder theory (company s accountability towards a broad range of
stakeholders, including employees, environment and local communities). The... Show more content

This at the time was widely opposed by proponents of corporate isolation as a highly irrelevant
research topic that went in no parallel or connection with the idea of a corporate veil, charter
accountability and the sole purpose of any company to bring profits to its shareholders. This
reverts us back to the development of a stakeholder theory that gradually gained its speed in the
1970s . It soon found its implementation in Freeman s management discipline , who promoted
the expansion of firms accountability towards a broader range of stakeholders. One of the
examples of how attitude towards CSR by multinational corporations has changed was raised by
Lee, when he reviewed corporate governance codes and practices of Ford . He used two
instances in the history of corporate actions of Ford with an interval of 80 years in between
them. Keeping in mind the abovementioned Clark s remarks on corporate accountability back in
1916, this becomes even more educational, as it shows a dramatic change in shareholders
perception of their business as a service to the broader society. There, in 1919 Ford was faced
with a lawsuit, as a result of which it agreed to grant Dodge brothers their request to receive
maximum dividends . The respective court decision was an indirect ridicule of Henry

Analysis Of Thomas Hobbes s Leviathan
Laviathan, Thomas Hobbes most important work and one of the most substantial philosophical
texts of the Seventeenth century, was written largely as a response to the political violence and
turmoil of England s civil wars. In Leviathan, Hobbes, using science and reason as a foundation,
attempts to create a concrete and methodological solution for peace and political stability. In the
context of a historically violent and fear stricken period in which Leviathanwas written, it is logical
that Hobbes would claim man s principal motivation to maintain peace and avoid war is due to a
fear of death, therefore forcing man to seek the preservation of life. Hobbes central idea in
Leviathan centers on the necessity for absolute sovereigntyand a commonwealth through covenant
(social contract). For Hobbes, past democratic governments only encouraged factionalism and
internal conflict within the state. The lack of centralized power served only to distract these
governments from pressing issues and exterior threats, thus Hobbes believed the presence of a
strong central power such as an absolute sovereign would preserve peace. Hobbes presents the
essential idea of absolute sovereignty and commonwealth through the metaphor of the Leviathan.
The leviathan serves as a symbol for the state. It is described, as a creature whose body is made up
of all of the bodies of its citizens while the head of the Leviathan is the sovereign. The leviathan is

The Power Of The English Nation
In an 1839 Speech to Parliament, Palmerston elucidated how the interests of the English nation was
the polar star of his policies, and should remain the primary guiding principle for those at the helm
of British politics. It was through defining and propelling British interest abroad that Palmerston
was able to gain attention verging on notoriety within domestic politics, not through his image
within his own party, or within Commons debate, but through using foreign policyto rally public
support. Palmerston was able to use foreign policy to advance his standing domestically through
making the British interest abroad a primary issue. He did this by moulding his Patriotic image in
the newspapers to highlight his devotion to British concerns. It is thus unsurprising that Lord John
Russellfamously remarked that his [Palmerston s] heart always beat for the honour of England.2

The Movement Of The Nazis
This passage clearly exemplified the mindset of many, as the hope they had had for a more
optimistic future was once again crushed under another regime. This was continuously a
problem under occupations of Kiev, government power made promises that were no longer able
to withhold and as a result of this, the would then be forced to endure horrible acts played out
against them and face poor treatment. With the realization that Nazi intentions were not what
they had presented as, many Ukrainians began to support the Soviets yet again in search of
freedom from being under the rule of the Nazis. An example of this explored in Kuznetsov s
novel while discussing the movement of Ukrainians to Germany to work on farms. Ukrainians
were persistently encouraged to migrate to work on German farms, which as actually driving
Ukrainians into slavery. Originally promised freedom and pay, upon their arrival in Germany
Ukrainians were sold off as slaves as described in the following quote: They had been taken to a
special market, where German farmers walked along the rows of workers, picking them out,
looking at their teeth, feeling their muscles, and buying them up at the rate of five or twenty
marks a man. They had to work on the farms from dawn to dusk, were beaten for the slightest
mistakes, and were occasionally killed, because such slaves were worth nothing to them compared
with cows or horses, which lived ten times better than the slaves. Moreover, a woman who went to

Signal Soldiers Must Be Adept At Operating Complex Signal...
Introduction
Signal Soldiers must be adept at operating complex signal systems and integrating progressive
technologies into the U. S. Army network. They must support multiple combat platforms from the
Infantry to Field Artillery and everything in between.
The rapid advancement of information technologies and a network centric force have transformed
the Army s warfighting capabilities. They have also impacted the Signal Corps ability to create
Soldiers who are capable of keeping pace. It must now rethink the process of how it is accesses,
trains, and sustains the Signal Soldier of the future. Since the war on terror, technological
developments in the signal realm have been numerous and far reaching. The Army network and
supported information technology (both hardware and software) provided by the Corps are an
integral part of warfighting capabilities and combat multipliers. Commanders and warfighters rely
on the knowledge and skills of the signal Soldiers to provide and implement these technologies to
meet their operational needs.
They expect the signal Soldier to be capable of establishing and maintaining communications in any
environment, to support any mission, independently or as a member of a team. They must be the

and Scanning Electron Microscope work; Evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of each type
of microscope.
The three different types of microscope all work very differently. They all have limitations as to
what can and cannot be seen through them and two key factors as to why this is are magnification
and resolution. Magnification determines how closely we can look at the object, whereas resolution
presents the limits of the microscope as to what sized structures can be seen clearly and can remain
in focus, even at a very large magnification. The light microscope only has a magnification of up to

These work because the aqueous interior of a cell (cytosol) is negatively charged, so the dyes
are either repelled or attracted to it. The cytosol bonds with positively charged dyes like
methylene blue. It repels negatively charged dyes like nigrosin, which results in only the
background being stained. The samples used for light microscopes must be translucent. There are
many advantages and disadvantages for each type of microscope, depending on what sort of
image you would like to produce. The scanning electron microscope has a function that is very
different to the TEM because it is able to show the surfaces of samples, rather than just going
through them. This unique function is very useful is specific circumstances, like when looking at
antigens on the surface of a cell, but not very useful when trying to look at the organelles found
inside that cell. The transmission electron microscope is able to show smaller organelles very
clearly due to its higher magnification and better resolution. The light microscope is not able to do
this and only the simplest structures can be seen. An advantage of light microscopes is that
specimen can be living, and the samples have not been treated very much. Although it is possible to

The Forms Of Birth Control In The 19th Century
For thousands of years forms of birth control have been around. People have fought for hundreds of
years to make birth control available to all women. Birth control was banned at point in the United
Sates. According to the authors at Wikipedia.org, Contraception was not restricted by the law in the
United States throughout most of the 19th century, but in the 1870s a social purity movement grew
in strength, aimed at outlawing vice in general, and prostitution and obscenity in particular.
Composed primarily of Protestant moral reformers and middle class women, the Victorian era
campaign also attacked contraception, which was viewed as an immoral practice that promoted
prostitution and venereal disease. The earliest forms of birth controlwas reported around 3000 B.C.
Condoms were made from fish bladders, linen sheaths, and even animal intestines. In the 1500 s,
the first spermicides, chemicals that kill sperm, were used to kill spermatozoa. The first condoms
were made from linen cloth sheaths and soaked in chemical solution and dried before using. In
1838, condoms and diaphragms were made from vulcanized rubber. A diaphragm is a shallow,
bendable cup that you put inside your vagina. It covers your cervix during sex to prevent
pregnancy. In 1873, the Comstock Act passed in the United States prohibiting advertisements,

Bees Persuasive Speech
Imagine living in a world without bees. What would you eat? What would you wear? What
would the environment be like? You may think that there would be very little change but think
again. The production in crops would decline due to the fact that 70% of the 90% crop species
that we consume are pollinated by bees, not to mention that delicious honey they provide.
Because of this, hunger and poverty would be at an all time high. Our choice in clothing would
decrease as well, being that cotton relies on pollination. Bees even influence our fuel; canola
production would plummet causing a reliance on fossil fuels and resulting in a huge pressure on
our environment. Our world would become a huge, barren desert because of plants not being
able to grow. Humans would most likely die off due to starvation and thirst, and it s all because
of bees. In this speech we are going to learn about what all the buzz is about the benefits of bees to
us, then we will learn about the causes of beeextinction... you wouldn t bee lieve it! Lastly, we will
buzz on over to learn about how we can help the bees in our community.
Now, let s stop to pollinate our first point, our dependence on bees... The way we eat largely
depends on bees and other pollinators. Every 1 in 3 bites of food we eat is another reason to
thank a bee. Coffee, nuts, seeds, berries, fruits, and vegetables are all pollinated and made
possible by bees and without them we would not have most of these foods. The loss of one bee
species can affect what we eat, some bees are used to pollinate certain plants, such as squash
bees. Bees can also affect what nutrients we are getting, bees allow us to have a balanced diet and
without bees we would have a diet that lacks in vital nutrients. As I said before, bees pollinate
the 70% out of the 90% of our crops that we consume, most of the crops that allow us to have a
balanced and healthy diet. In a video titled, The Death of Bees Explained , the author states that
the crops that we feed our livestock with are largely dependent on honey bees, which effects our
milk and meat. In result of the large influence, bees are a Keystone Species, a keystone species is a
species that is largely depended on in an ecosystem and if they were

What Is The Purpose Of The Book Striiff
One of New York s Best Selling Books Stiff by Mary Roach was a delight to read. I personally
think this book was very informative, but in such a way that the reader wants to keep reading. Not
only was the book entertaining and informative while reading, but it seemed as though time was not

book was a bit longer for me to get through, but after I passed that part, I really enjoyed the rest of
the book. I would recommend this book to anyone because even if you don t have an interest in
the scenes behind it, it is a book you will find quite enjoyable to read. I was introduced to a lot of
information behind the science for cadavers. All through the book we are introduced to a few
important people whom will be important or seen throughout the book. Mary is the one telling
the story she talks about the process each job takes. All while she is also experiencing everything
for herself as well. The author starts off the book with an introduction paragraph which is where
we begin to get the feeling of the book for itself. She starts it off by talking about death and how

with anything whether it was working at her job or dealing with her boyfriend. Thus her
overriding emotion for her life before being institutionalized was exhaustion. Her great loss of

A Success Plan for Your University Math Course
Getting accepted into a University is one of the most exciting experinces that someone can have.
However, along with much joy one is often over come with fear and anxiety. Being a college
student comes with many obligations, all of which revolve around getting good grades. One of the
most anxiety provoking classes that a student can take is math. Although, if you hold yourself to
some strict guidelines and plan for success, by having good time managementskills, always taking
notes, and keeping your self confidenceup when your confused. These will make mastering math
much easier and you will give you a higher success rate. At times College can seem like a
juggling act; between going to classes, studying for tests and doing homework. All it really
comes down to is being effective at time management. It is difficult to figure out your heiracry
of commitments and alotting the appropriate amount of time to each task. There are many steps
one can take in order to become good at time management. First, you should make a plan. Right
when you get your sylabus for class, you should write down all of your assignments, quizes,
papers and exams into your planner. This way you can visually see what you need to get done,
and within each week. Second, you need to attend each class. Believe it or not you are wasting
time by not going to class. It takes three times as slong to learn the material on your own, as it
would if you simply would have atteneded class in the first place.

The Pros And Cons Of The Disarmament Treaty
With recent tensions rising between North Korea and the world, it is no surprise that the Japanese
citizens are realighting themselves towards a nationalist government. Japanese Prime Minister Abe
has started to consider revoking the disarmament treaty. Revoking it would let Japan increase
spending in the military which would ultimately result in a much larger and advanced military.
Although rearming the Japanese military would instil security in the country, it would only
increase the tension, affecting negatively to both myself and future generations of Japanese citizens

How Did Islam Spread
Islam s story, as you could probably guess, started with the prophet Muhammad. Islam first
appeared in Arabia. But what was Arabia like before Islam arose? Before the rise of Muhammad
and Islamic religion the Arabian Peninsula was originally the home to a group of nomadic desert
dwellers who were able to deal with the harsh desert climate by migrating every season. In the
fifth century BC more people groups began establishing settlements, many chose Mecca, by the
west coast of Saudi Arabia. This location did not provide a preferable climate or many natural
resources, but was the site of a large cubical shrine dedicated to various deities, this was called the
site of Ka ba.
The beginning of Islam can be traced all the way back to Saudi Arabia in the 7th century. It is
believed that Islam was actually introduced 610 A.D. (A.D. stands for the Latin phrase anno
domini, which means ВЁin the year of our LordВЁ). Muhammad introduced Islam after claiming
that he experienced what he believed to be an angelic visitation. Muhammad then dedicated the

Identity Negotiation Theory Paper
Identity negotiation theory is a theory that suggests that people are constantly negotiating who they
are to other people that they talk to, if even only subconsciously. Identity negotiation refers to the
process through which perceivers and targets come to agreements regarding their identities Swann
(2014). This essay analyzes self identitytheory, based on the facts that the theory suggests,
particularly how people negotiate their feelings, respect for each other, and in many ways even
their interests and disinterests, then I will critique the theory in question. First, this essay will
discuss how people negotiate their feelings on a daily basis based off the theory in question. When
one says hello or a similar greeting to someone else the speaker is asking (if even somewhat
subconsciously) how the other person is feeling. Usually the other person will communicate back
their feelings, which is answered in a pretty simplistic manner. If the person that answers the
greeting says that they are doing well, then that means that they are in a good mood and are
interested in driving the communication further; if that same person says that they are doing bad
then that means that they re not feeling well today, but are still interested in furthering the
conversation; and if a person doesn t answer the question at all, then that means that that person is

The Dunning-Kruger Effect
Unsuccessful employees are products of unsuccessful employers (Draft 2)
As a child, I believed I would pirouette my way to become the top ballerina at the American
Ballet Theatre, but I was unaware of my title as the worst dancer in the studio. My pride, and my
dream, was soon destroyed as I watched myself fumbling across the stage on tape. I was thus
under the cognitive bias of the Dunning Kruger Effect. This effect also exists in other
environments besides in a children s dance class, such as work environment relationships. In Mark
Murphy s article, The Dunning Kruger Shows Why Some People Think They re Great Even When
Their Work is Terrible, it explains that incompetent workers tend to overestimate their work abilities

In other words, they overestimate their work abilities. Most employers tend to blame incompetence
to the workers inability to take constructive criticism. To illustrate this belief, in a study of over
10,000 workers, only 39% could accept constructive criticism and learn to adjust their work
performance (Murphy, 2017). The low percentage of workers accepting criticism leds to the
assumption that their work confidence stems from their inability to accept that their work needs to
improve. On the contrary, there are workers who can accept criticism, but continue to underperform
since they assume their work is acceptable enough to continue. Managers have encouraged this
assumption, caused by the Dunning Kruger Effect, by not informing their employees of their poor
work performance. These unskilled workers have worked without much correction to the point that
they automatically assume they are good enough that they don t need to be corrected. To better
explain, it would be like a child continuing to misbehave as a custom because they were not taught
the proper way to act. In other words, without correct, an act will continue to repeat

Essay about Book Analysis of World War Z by Max Brooks
World War Z was written by Max Brooks and published in 2007. Max has two other books that
are also about surviving a zombie apocalypse. The general maxim about zombie apocalypse books
is that they are for pure entertainment; however, his books carry hidden messages that pertain to
modern society. World War Z is an exceptional book of entertainment and knowledge. The book
was created into a motion picture starring Brad Pitt because of the much kudos that Max Brooks

The social layout completely changes as the outbreak consumes the world.
A major contributing factor to this great change is the fear and uncertainty that is instilled by the
zombies. I believe that Brooks defined fear through people s reactions to the outbreak. He
explains how fear is the most basic emotion and how fear is the reasoning to perform an act. In
one of his stories, he writes, fear is the most valuable commodity in the universe (Brooks). This is
true because we buy products and services based on the fear of not having those products and the
results of not having that commodity.
Combining all these serious themes into a very entertaining book should attract many readers.
However, there was some confusion with the story line. Since this book is a collection of
interviews, it wasn t a conventional story. When I first started the book, I wasn t sure why I was
jumping from country to country and why each story was completely different. As I continued to
read the book, I was able to understand that these were a collection of eyewitness accounts of the
war. Also, Max Brooks uses a rife amount of vulgar language which I think could have been kept
out. However, it made it real and that s what this book is about.
Breaking that long held axiom about zombie books, Max Brooks was able to bring a new
definition to the zombie apocalypse. His talent to bring a well rounded novel to the

The Discovery Of The Earth s Magnetic Field
The Earth s magnetic field
The discovery of the Earth s magnetic field Over 2000 years ago, the Chinese discovered that
lodestone, a naturally magnetised iron ore, would align itself in a north south direction. Hundreds
of years later, they discovered that their compasses didn t point true north and in fact that this
position changed with time. The compass was first used for navigation in the 11th 12th century,
only arriving in Europe towards the end of this period. Then, in 1600, William Gilbert (Figure 1.1)
published De Magnete, Magnetisque Corporibus, et de Magno Magnete Tellue (On the Magnet and
Magnetic Bodies, and on the Great Magnet the Earth). He concluded that the Earth itself was
magnetic with a centre of iron, and this is why a compass would point north. Figure 1.1 William
Gilbert (1544 1603) , author of De Magnete, the first printed book written by an academically
trained scholar based almost entirely on actual observation and experiment .
The structure of the Earth s Magnetic Field
The Earth s magnetic field can in fact be closely approximated by a magnetic dipole at its centre,
tilted by 11Лљ to the Earth s rotational axis, Figure 1.2. The south pole of this magnetic dipole
actually points northwards such that the north pole on a compass will point towards northwards, and
more precisely, to the Earth s magnetic north pole. The magnetic field strength decreases from the
poles towards the equator. Currently the field is 56 ВµT at the magnetic north

Oil Companies And Economic Power
Oil Companies and Economic Power
Introduction
In the modern world energy has become very important since it helps drive most industrial as
well as home based activities. The process that leads to production of the world s largest energy
provider, Oil, however has continued to receive criticism. This is so since production of
Gasoline, Natural Gas, Kerosene as well as other components present in crude oil leads to some
forms of environmental pollution. This has led to devastating climatic changes around the world
which has in turn led to loss of lives and property. In the course of transporting crude oil to

Oil companies operate in defined regions where oil exploration and possible drilling is done.
However some companies such as Shell BP engage in international drilling and distribution of oil
products. Below are some of the most renowned oil companies in their constituent continents:
Africa: Sasol of South of South Africa and National Petroleum Company of Congo. In Asia some
of the leading oil companies include Nobel Group and the Bahrain Oil Company. It is important
to note that Asia has a lot of oil resources and hence have extensive oil drilling activities. In
Europe we have Partex oil and Gas Company, in South America three is Bridas Corporation
based in Argentina. North America has one of the most advanced technology in the oil industry.
These companies have extended their activities around the globe in a bid to discover more oil
resources to sustain future energy requirements. Some North America companies include Shell
Oil Company and the Apache Corporation. This paper will focus on the importance of oil
companies over and above the problems that they pose to the environment as well as the political
stability of the world. For practical examples I chose to use the state of Alaska where oil
companies have based their operations as a case study.

Great Gatsby
The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald deals on one level with Jay Gatsby s hopes and dreams,
but on a deeper level also deals with the Great American Dream. The novel starts and ends with a
reference to the green light at the end of the dock, indicating an important symbolism. The first time
Nick catches sight of Jay Gatsby, Gatsby stretched his arms towards the dark water [...] [Nick]
distinguished nothing except a single greenlight [...] that might have been at the end of a dock.
(Fitzgerald 2000:25). Fitzgerald ends the novel by again referring to the green light at the end of
Daisy s dock. (171).
The protagonist of the novel is Jay Gatsby, a wealthy young man from the Midwest, who has

The green light at the end of Daisy s dock also symbolises the inability to control time, the
irretrievability of the past and the futility of trying to recreate the past, despite Gatsby s belief to
the contrary. When Nick asserts that one can t repeat the past, he exclaims: Can t repeat the
past? [...] Why of course you can! (106). Gatsby naively believes that Daisy can erase the past by
simply telling Tom that she never loved him. He tells Nick that [he s] going to fix everything the
way it was before (106) and that he and Daisy would be married from her house just as if it were
five years ago. (106).
The similarity between Gatsby s dream and the Great American dream is a central theme of the
novel. People pursue their dreams, regardless of the cost to themselves and others, with little regard
for the attainability and reality of the dream. In Gatsby s case, his dream eventually costs him his
life. Similarly, the singleminded pursuit of wealth and pleasure eventually costs people their lives,
if not in the literal sense, then in the moral sense.

Science And Technology Of Designing
Nanotechnology, which is one of the new technologies, is the science and technology of
designing, constructing and creating of novel nano scale structure, 1nm to 100 nm in size, with
huger quality, novel performance properties, along with fewer defects compared with those of
the bulk material (Siqueira et al., 2010). An increasing interest from the scientific community to
work with materials in nano metric scale has been observed since the introduction of the concept
of nanotechnology by Richard Feynman in 1959. The last decade has seen advancement in every
side of nanotechnology such as nano particles and powders, nano layers and coats, electrical,
optic and mechanical nano devices, and nano structured biological materials (Bhattacharyya et al.,
2009). Nanoscale structures permit the control of fundamental properties of materials without
changing the materials chemical status (Murphy et al., 2011). There are two general ways
available to produce nano materials, as shown in the following figure 18. The first way is to start
with a bulk material and then break it into smaller pieces using mechanical, chemical or other
form of energy (top down). An opposite approach is to synthesis the material from atomic or
molecular species via chemical reactions, allowing for the precursor particles to grow in size
(bottom up). Both approaches can be done in either gas, liquid, supercritical fluids, solid states, or
in vacuum (Dastjerdi and Montazer, 2010). Figure 18: Illustration of

Why Women Should Not Be Sexualized And Objectified The Way...
David Dale 1 Why women should not be sexualized and objectified the way they are in video
games today: Most of us would already know that women s representation in the media is highly
sexualized and that women are regularly portrayed in a sexual manner and are objectified in all
forms of media whether it be in magazines, online, television, movies, music videos, and of
course video games (Wu, 2014). Many people derive gratification from what they read and hear
every day without thinking about the way that women are being portrayed in these forms of
media. Women are regularly used as an object to sell a game or used as eye candy to advertise
and sell a product. The way that women in today s society are objectified and sexualized in
media especially video games can lead to later unsocial behaviour by the participant and that s
not a positive or desirable result for society. Video games have long been known as a male
dominated media, when it comes to the market audience, player base, and character representation
in game. Research concerning gender representation in video games often focuses on a few key
points of how men and women are viewed differently, things like physical abilities, role in the

Low carbon technologies are worth 500 billion dollars annually at the least. Since current Cap and
trade programs are spreading fairly quickly to other countries and regions the market will grow
immensely.
The Low carbon Technologies International Inc also known as the LCTI will be developing the
400 Metric Waste to Energy Facility, Iuka, Mississippi. It is an innovative gasification that will
generate the syngas from the waste streams and convert it into biodiesel, ethanol and other
chemicals. This Power plant facility will also, recover waste heat to make steam that will be used
to make electricity for on site power consumption, limited peaking power, and black start
capability. The financing for this project comes from a third party investor with a guaranteed 100%
financing on a 20 year lease. This is just one of many technologies being built within the next year.
I believe that we will see an impact sort of like that of the solar energy and wind power projects that
took place in the early 2000 s. I always wondered why there were huge fans in the middle of the
desert in Palm Springs California. This wind farm is part of a solar group of companies that is
worth over 27 billion dollars by 2005. Low carbon technologies could make an even bigger impact
by 2050 generating over 25 million jobs across America. This

Buddhism, The Noble Eightfold Path And The Four Noble Truths
Buddhism was an incredibly intriguing religion to me due to the emphasis placed on the reality that
surrounds us, it s a rational religion based on peace, self understanding and the ultimate goal of
nirvana. Buddhist followers live their life with three main goals; morality, meditation and
enlightenment. Ultimately the core teachings of Buddhismare The Noble Eightfold Pathand The
Four Noble Truths. It is their lives journey to understand, live kindly and find their inner peace. In a
world so full of hate, misunderstanding, war, segregation and close mindedness; it is unimaginable
to not find such a peaceful and understanding religion not attractive in one way or another. However
with that, how is it possible that in this same world we find ourselves, those Buddhist followers are
able to find such inner peace and understanding when the world around them conducts themselves
with such insanity?
We don t know details about the life of Siddhartha Buddha as nothing was written down by him
or his disciples until hundreds of years after his death. However, the legends that were passed
down paint a very humble and intriguing picture of the man known as Buddha. The story states
that Buddha was born into a very lavish lifestyle; he was given anything and everything he could
ever want and kept very sheltered in order to protect him from the realities of the world around
him. Eventually becoming curious of the surrounding world he escaped the royal walls and seen

Role Of Food In The Elizabethan Era
THESIS STATEMENT: During the Elizabethan era various types of foods were eaten and
extensive details were added to these foods. Social classes also played a big role in what the rich or
poor ate.
I.Elizabethan meals were eaten at a specific time during the day. Depending on the job, civilians
ate at different a time or place.
A.People of this era usually ate three meals a day which consisted of: breakfast, dinner, and supper.
1.Breakfast was eaten right after getting up in the morning. It was normally a small meal made up
of cold foods like leftovers, eggs, or bread and butter. But since breakfast was by definition eaten

Theme Of The Tell Tale Heart And The Monkey Paw
The night waned, and I worked hastily, but in silence. First of all I dismembered the corpse. I cut
off the head and the arms and the legs. The common theme of death is obvious in the stories, The
Tell Tale Heart, and The Monkeys Paw, but this explains just a bit of the stories. The people
involved are dealing with death for very different reasons, which capture the reader s attention. The
Tell Tale Heart and Monkey Paw stories build suspense for the audience because the stories are
based around murder and death, which the feelings of fear, reasoning, insanity, sadness, guilt and
coping are the effects.
A child s parents have made a dire mistake with wishes given to them that cause a tragedy and loss.
When two parents are given three wishes from a monkey paw, their first wish was to ask for money,
which they got what they wanted, but it cost them their only son. The mistake tore the mother
apart, So she wished her son back to life with a second wish, but when the son was at the front
door the father wished him to his grave. The death of the son is sad, but the truly suspenseful
part is when the son comes back to life with the horrific injuries all because of the wishes made
with the monkey paw. If he could only find it before the thing outside got in. A perfect fusillade
of knocks reverberated through the house, and he heard the scraping of a chair as his wife put it
down in the passage against the door. He heard the creaking of the bolt as it came slowly back,

The Civil Of The American Civil Justice System
The Civil Procedure Rules aim was to supply simply expressed rules in order to make the civil
justice system accessible, fair and efficient . In order to assess the extent to which they have
provided this it will require an assessment of the Overriding objective of the CPR, the use of pro
action protocols, and an analysis of judicial case management. Assessing these parts of the CPR
will enable an evaluation of whether the CPR emphasis in preparing cases for settlement,
instead of preparing cases for trial, may have caused a quicker and more effective mechanism
for settling disputes. The CPR were introduced in 1998 with an accompanying practice direction.
They were introduced after Lord Woolf s Access to Justice Report which stated that the Civil
Justice system had problems of cost, delays and complexity which has created an injustice to the
Civil Justice system . CPR r.1.1 (1) states that there overriding objective is to enable the court to
deal with cases justly while at a proportionate cost . The CPR requires the courts and the parties
to further the overriding objective . One instance where the parties are to further the overriding
objective would be through the removal of arguments likely to fail. For instance, in the case of
Buxton v Mills Owens it was held that the legal adviser s parties will be in breach of their
obligations under 1.3 if they advance arguments which they know are bound to fail . Thus,
providing a quicker way to settling disputes by ensuring a

  • 2. Double burden of malnutrition in India Double burden of malnutrition in India Undernutrition and Overnutrition Introduction The nutritional double burden, encompassing both undernutrition (stunting, underweight and wasting) and overnutrition (overweight and obesity), has become an important public health challenge in many developing countries. Globally, an estimated 99 million under five year olds were underweight in 2012, with the low and middle income countries of Asia accounting for more than 70 percent of these undernourished children (WHO, 2012a). Although many developing countries have achieved significant reductions in the prevalence of undernutrition during the past two decades, the pace of decline was slow and insufficient to meet the Millennium Development Goals ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, it is important that the issues of nutritional double burden in many developing countries need to be addressed in the context of socioeconomic status. This could help identify the complex interplay of social, economic, and political determinants of undernutrition and overnutrition. Many developing countries are growing economically, and it can be expected that the prevalence of undernutrition would decrease and obesity would become a problem among wealthy and privileged classes. However, research has shown that obesity and associated non communicable diseases(NCDs) are increasingly affecting all sectors of society, and the poor or disadvantaged are more likely to be vulnerable to these health hazards (Khandelwal et al., 2013). Also, it can be seen that many developing countries are still incapable of dealing with these health challenges of nutritional double burden, therefore in order to minimize adverse nutritional outcomes, there need to be a reconsideration of current policies and further understanding of these health challenges. Prevalence and consequences of nutritional conditions in India India is one of the developing countries which are experiencing multiple transitions in its nutritional pattern along with a rapid socioeconomic development. The pace of poverty reduction in India has been accelerating during the last ten years, but over 50 percent of the population in India is still vulnerable to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Narrative Essay On Solar Eclipse On August 21st of this year, my generation got to discover an event that I found absolutely breath taking. A total solar eclipse passed over the United States, making it distinguishable in the afternoon sky from the ground. The total solar eclipse only occurs when the moon aligns just directly in front of the Sun, a sight which most people will never get to see in their lifetime. Three weeks back, I bought glasses in preparation to see the full phenomenon. Myself and a few of my close friends went on a mission to see the total eclipse from the best vantage point I could, which landed me a tad bit south of Crossville, TN. I left campus Sunday night to join some friends back home who were also anticipating the event. The next morning around... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We drove at a speed in the range of 60 to 70 miles an hour, down an old narrow country road, racing the eclipse so that we could experience it in the most ideal position possible. It was quite dangerous as none of us had seat belts on and were holding on to the safety handle. The ride was an adrenaline rush. Four or five minutes away we pulled off on the side and stepped away from our cars. In a field, way out in what could only be described as B.F.E. Tennessee, we gathered around on the side of the road and counted down to totality. Scientists will tell you that the gravity is lighter on the surface of the earth directly amid a full eclipse. To some degree, maybe the adrenaline and gravity were at fault for the emotional reaction that I felt during the eclipse. The minute felt too dreamlike to be in any way genuine, like a scene from a sci fi film or the start of the end of the world. The green hue of the sky just before, rushing emotions, and all the people who had gathered in strange places to watch this event together made it feel like an important moment in my life. And when the sun was completely secured behind the shadow of the moon, all the light for miles around, went dark, and all went silent. For around 30 seconds, I heard cicadas chirp the way they do at dusk. Looking up into the dark afternoon sky was comparable to considering the eye of a divine being. I saw ... • 7. Alexander The Great s Influence On The World Alexander the Great Occasionally history shows that the world does not have many people that could be entered in the history. And Alexander the Great was one of these people. During his childhood Alexander had great teachers who taught him how to use and how to choose great politics, diplomacy and, how to win the war if that day would come. For many years Alexander the Great studied how to control everything and how to be ready to do anything that might be needed. At the age of sixteen he had to become a king of big kingdom, because his father, Philip, was in the war with Byzantium. Many people believed in Alexander because they knew that he was different from other children in his age, he did not care about bodily pleasures or anything like that, however, he had infinitely ambition which created him a good leader. Alexander strengthened his position in the power, he tamed people that were trying to make a revolution to take power in their hands. To get support from wealthy and other people in Alexander s kingdom, he canceled taxes, and killed other people that might claim for the king s position. Alexander was a great leader, and had plans to enter the war not only with some kingdoms, but to capture and control all kingdoms and all lands, to have the great power without a trace. • 8. My Identity And Personal Identity My purpose is to show my individuality and to express myself. This is for others including myself, to see and to remind us that our identity is very complex. My parents immigrated to this country from Mexico many years ago and they brought along their culture, which makes up a major part of my identity. I am Mexican American and the stereotype that we have a lot of members in our family is true, but it doesn t tell the full story. I have a lot of aunts, uncles, and cousins and I am very grateful for them because each and every one of them has taught me important lessons that have shaped who I am today. When all of us are together we stand out because there are so many of us and we can also get very loud. We always know how to have a good time and we re also the life of every party. Every Christmas eve we all get together at one of our aunt s houses and celebrate the birth of Jesus. We set up a nacimiento, or Nativity set, made of figurines that represent the ones who were present during his birth. We cover the set with hay, surround it with little figurines of animals and drape Christmas lights all around the set. Then we do a rosary and commemorate the ones in our family who have passed or could not make it. During these celebrations we always have tamales, menudo, and hot chocolate. These foods are very important to us because most of the women in the family get together the day before the event and prepare the food. In this time we all have time to catch up on the latest gossip and drama that is going on in our lives. One thing that I have recently been interested in again is the traditional Aztec dances and rituals. When I was younger I used to participate in the dances with my mother but we had to quit due to the long and late hours of practice. I have started to go to retreats where we spend most of our nights dancing and praying to temples and different gods. Doing this makes me feel more connected to my ancestral roots and i feel a sense of pride. Religion plays an important role in my life. • 10. The Theory Of Corporate Social Responsibility Historical background of the development of CSR is almost as important as the ongoing discussion on what CSR is and how and where it should operate. Many scholars argue that these are not interchangeable and need to be assessed in conjunction with each other. For purposes of this paper it is pivotal to look into the past to see what stood behind the broadening of companies accountability beyond the standard agency theory (limited liability of shareholders for the company s violations or breach and the company s main accountability being towards its shareholders and investors only) to the stakeholder theory (company s accountability towards a broad range of stakeholders, including employees, environment and local communities). It soon found its implementation in Freeman s management discipline , who promoted the expansion of firms accountability towards a broader range of stakeholders. One of the examples of how attitude towards CSR by multinational corporations has changed was raised by Lee, when he reviewed corporate governance codes and practices of Ford . He used two instances in the history of corporate actions of Ford with an interval of 80 years in between them. Keeping in mind the abovementioned Clark s remarks on corporate accountability back in 1916, this becomes even more educational, as it shows a dramatic change in shareholders perception of their business as a service to the broader society. There, in 1919 Ford was faced with a lawsuit, as a result of which it agreed to grant Dodge brothers their request to receive maximum dividends . • 11. Analysis Of Thomas Hobbes s Leviathan Laviathan, Thomas Hobbes most important work and one of the most substantial philosophical texts of the Seventeenth century, was written largely as a response to the political violence and turmoil of England s civil wars. In Leviathan, Hobbes, using science and reason as a foundation, attempts to create a concrete and methodological solution for peace and political stability. In the context of a historically violent and fear stricken period in which Leviathanwas written, it is logical that Hobbes would claim man s principal motivation to maintain peace and avoid war is due to a fear of death, therefore forcing man to seek the preservation of life. Hobbes central idea in Leviathan centers on the necessity for absolute sovereigntyand a commonwealth through covenant (social contract). For Hobbes, past democratic governments only encouraged factionalism and internal conflict within the state. The lack of centralized power served only to distract these governments from pressing issues and exterior threats, thus Hobbes believed the presence of a strong central power such as an absolute sovereign would preserve peace. Hobbes presents the essential idea of absolute sovereignty and commonwealth through the metaphor of the Leviathan. The leviathan serves as a symbol for the state. It is described, as a creature whose body is made up of all of the bodies of its citizens while the head of the Leviathan is the sovereign. The leviathan is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. The Power Of The English Nation In an 1839 Speech to Parliament, Palmerston elucidated how the interests of the English nation was the polar star of his policies, and should remain the primary guiding principle for those at the helm of British politics. It was through defining and propelling British interest abroad that Palmerston was able to gain attention verging on notoriety within domestic politics, not through his image within his own party, or within Commons debate, but through using foreign policyto rally public support. Palmerston was able to use foreign policy to advance his standing domestically through making the British interest abroad a primary issue. He did this by moulding his Patriotic image in the newspapers to highlight his devotion to British concerns. It is thus unsurprising that Lord John Russellfamously remarked that his [Palmerston s] heart always beat for the honour of England.2 1: Lord Palmerston Speech to the House of Commons (19 March 1839), The Mirror of Parliament for the .. Magnification determines how closely we can look at the object, whereas resolution presents the limits of the microscope as to what sized structures can be seen clearly and can remain in focus, even at a very large magnification. People have fought for hundreds of years to make birth control available to all women. Birth control was banned at point in the United Sates. According to the authors at Wikipedia.org, Contraception was not restricted by the law in the United States throughout most of the 19th century, but in the 1870s a social purity movement grew in strength, aimed at outlawing vice in general, and prostitution and obscenity in particular. Composed primarily of Protestant moral reformers and middle class women, the Victorian era campaign also attacked contraception, which was viewed as an immoral practice that promoted prostitution and venereal disease. The earliest forms of birth controlwas reported around 3000 B.C. Condoms were made from fish bladders, linen sheaths, and even animal intestines. In the 1500 s, the first spermicides, chemicals that kill sperm, were used to kill spermatozoa. The first condoms were made from linen cloth sheaths and soaked in chemical solution and dried before using. In 1838, condoms and diaphragms were made from vulcanized rubber. I have been given so many opportunities to grow and succeed that I feel that I need to give back to in as many areas as possible. My involvement in the community began in elementary school through my church group. I have always had a love for the elderly. I regularly visited nursing homes and assisted living facilities engaging in activities there. Also, I worked with the Salvation Army during the Christmas break to raise money for the homeless. • 22. Bees Persuasive Speech Imagine living in a world without bees. What would you eat? What would you wear? What would the environment be like? You may think that there would be very little change but think again. The production in crops would decline due to the fact that 70% of the 90% crop species that we consume are pollinated by bees, not to mention that delicious honey they provide. Because of this, hunger and poverty would be at an all time high. Our choice in clothing would decrease as well, being that cotton relies on pollination. Bees even influence our fuel; canola production would plummet causing a reliance on fossil fuels and resulting in a huge pressure on our environment. Our world would become a huge, barren desert because of plants not being able to grow. Humans would most likely die off due to starvation and thirst, and it s all because of bees. In this speech we are going to learn about what all the buzz is about the benefits of bees to us, then we will learn about the causes of beeextinction... you wouldn t bee lieve it! Lastly, we will buzz on over to learn about how we can help the bees in our community. Now, let s stop to pollinate our first point, our dependence on bees... The way we eat largely depends on bees and other pollinators. Every 1 in 3 bites of food we eat is another reason to thank a bee. Coffee, nuts, seeds, berries, fruits, and vegetables are all pollinated and made possible by bees and without them we would not have most of these foods. The loss of one bee species can affect what we eat, some bees are used to pollinate certain plants, such as squash bees. Bees can also affect what nutrients we are getting, bees allow us to have a balanced diet and without bees we would have a diet that lacks in vital nutrients. As I said before, bees pollinate the 70% out of the 90% of our crops that we consume, most of the crops that allow us to have a balanced and healthy diet. In a video titled, The Death of Bees Explained , the author states that the crops that we feed our livestock with are largely dependent on honey bees, which effects our milk and meat. In result of the large influence, bees are a Keystone Species, a keystone species is a species that is largely depended on in an ecosystem and if they were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Before the rise of Muhammad and Islamic religion the Arabian Peninsula was originally the home to a group of nomadic desert dwellers who were able to deal with the harsh desert climate by migrating every season. In the fifth century BC more people groups began establishing settlements, many chose Mecca, by the west coast of Saudi Arabia. Identity negotiation refers to the process through which perceivers and targets come to agreements regarding their identities Swann (2014). This essay analyzes self identitytheory, based on the facts that the theory suggests, particularly how people negotiate their feelings, respect for each other, and in many ways even their interests and disinterests, then I will critique the theory in question. First, this essay will discuss how people negotiate their feelings on a daily basis based off the theory in question. When one says hello or a similar greeting to someone else the speaker is asking (if even somewhat subconsciously) how the other person is feeling. Usually the other person will communicate back their feelings, which is answered in a pretty simplistic manner. If the person that answers the greeting says that they are doing well, then that means that they are in a good mood and are interested in driving the communication further; if that same person says that they are doing bad then that means that they re not feeling well today, but are still interested in furthering the conversation; and if a person doesn t answer the question at all, then that means that that person is probably not... To illustrate this belief, in a study of over 10,000 workers, only 39% could accept constructive criticism and learn to adjust their work performance (Murphy, 2017). The low percentage of workers accepting criticism leds to the assumption that their work confidence stems from their inability to accept that their work needs to improve. On the contrary, there are workers who can accept criticism, but continue to underperform since they assume their work is acceptable enough to continue. Managers have encouraged this assumption, caused by the Dunning Kruger Effect, by not informing their employees of their poor work performance. This is true because we buy products and services based on the fear of not having those products and the results of not having that commodity. The Discovery Of The Earth s Magnetic Field The Earth s magnetic field The discovery of the Earth s magnetic field Over 2000 years ago, the Chinese discovered that lodestone, a naturally magnetised iron ore, would align itself in a north south direction. Hundreds of years later, they discovered that their compasses didn t point true north and in fact that this position changed with time. The compass was first used for navigation in the 11th 12th century, only arriving in Europe towards the end of this period. Then, in 1600, William Gilbert (Figure 1.1) published De Magnete, Magnetisque Corporibus, et de Magno Magnete Tellue (On the Magnet and Magnetic Bodies, and on the Great Magnet the Earth). He concluded that the Earth itself was magnetic with a centre of iron, and this is why a compass would point north. Science And Technology Of Designing Nanotechnology, which is one of the new technologies, is the science and technology of designing, constructing and creating of novel nano scale structure, 1nm to 100 nm in size, with huger quality, novel performance properties, along with fewer defects compared with those of the bulk material (Siqueira et al., 2010). An increasing interest from the scientific community to work with materials in nano metric scale has been observed since the introduction of the concept of nanotechnology by Richard Feynman in 1959. The last decade has seen advancement in every side of nanotechnology such as nano particles and powders, nano layers and coats, electrical, optic and mechanical nano devices, and nano structured biological materials (Bhattacharyya et al., 2009). Nanoscale structures permit the control of fundamental properties of materials without changing the materials chemical status (Murphy et al., 2011). There are two general ways available to produce nano materials, as shown in the following figure 18. The first way is to start with a bulk material and then break it into smaller pieces using mechanical, chemical or other form of energy (top down). An opposite approach is to synthesis the material from atomic or molecular species via chemical reactions, allowing for the precursor particles to grow in size (bottom up). Women are regularly used as an object to sell a game or used as eye candy to advertise and sell a product. The way that women in today s society are objectified and sexualized in media especially video games can lead to later unsocial behaviour by the participant and that s not a positive or desirable result for society. Video games have long been known as a male dominated media, when it comes to the market audience, player base, and character representation in game. Research concerning gender representation in video games often focuses on a few key points of how men and women are viewed differently, things like physical abilities, role in the game, and physical attributes are just a few to point out (Zorrilla, 2011). Something that is used a lot in video games is the sexualized depiction of female characters, the overwhelming masculinity of the implied game player, and the recurring structure of male heroes or characters ... • 51. The Civil Of The American Civil Justice System The Civil Procedure Rules aim was to supply simply expressed rules in order to make the civil justice system accessible, fair and efficient . In order to assess the extent to which they have provided this it will require an assessment of the Overriding objective of the CPR, the use of pro action protocols, and an analysis of judicial case management. Assessing these parts of the CPR will enable an evaluation of whether the CPR emphasis in preparing cases for settlement, instead of preparing cases for trial, may have caused a quicker and more effective mechanism for settling disputes. The CPR were introduced in 1998 with an accompanying practice direction. They were introduced after Lord Woolf s Access to Justice Report which stated that the Civil Justice system had problems of cost, delays and complexity which has created an injustice to the Civil Justice system . CPR r.1.1 (1) states that there overriding objective is to enable the court to deal with cases justly while at a proportionate cost . The CPR requires the courts and the parties to further the overriding objective . One instance where the parties are to further the overriding objective would be through the removal of arguments likely to fail. For instance, in the case of Buxton v Mills Owens it was held that the legal adviser s parties will be in breach of their obligations under 1.3 if they advance arguments which they know are bound to fail . Thus, providing a quicker way to settling disputes by ensuring a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
