Mercury Athletic Footwear
Mercury Athletic Footwear: Valuing the Opportunity Active Gear, Inc. (AGI) is a privately held
footwear company and is contemplating the possibility of acquiring Mercury Athletic Footwear. West
Coast Fashions Inc., a large designer and marketer of men s and women s branded apparel recently
announced that it plans to shed its Mercury Athletic Footwear subsidiary. AGI s head of business
development, John Liedtke, believes acquiring Mercury Athletic Footwear is a good option for the
company. Although AGI is currently among the most profitable firms in the footwear industry, it is
also much smaller than most of its competitors, which the company s management views as a
competitive disadvantage. During the past three years AGI s revenue ... Show more content on

Even with this high WACC the present value of the company is $197,114.71. In Exhibit 3, we
assumed that Mercury s WACC decreased to 4% either due to favorable leverage or credit market
conditions. With this WACC the estimated present value of the company is $242,045.03. Another
quantitative method we used to value the possible acquisition of Mercury was estimating Mercury s
horizon value based on its excess free cash flow using the Gordon growth model. A company s
horizon value is its value at the end of a certain period. This value can be used as a present value of a
company. The basic assumption of the Gordon growth model is that a company will generate free cash
flows at a consistent growth rate for an indefinite amount of time. The model uses the following
equation: [Free Cash Flow*(1+Growth Rate)/ (WACC Growth Rate)]+PV of Previous Future Periods
Cash Flows The free cash flow used in this model is the free cash flow from the future period in which
the company is expected to hit its long term growth rate. The present value of the future periods cash
flows before the company is expected to hit its long term growth rate is then added. The result of this
equation is the company s estimated horizon value. A drawback of this method is that a company s
growth rate may vary from year to year and this model may not be able to account for this fluctuation.
We chose not to use other horizon value analyses

The Problem Of Energy Production
In today s society, it s nearly impossible to open a newspaper, fire up a computer, or hold a
conversation that isn t someway related to energy. Since the beginning of the industrial revolution over
a century and a half ago, nothing has been more pivotal to mankind s rise to power as the apex species
of planet earth. Had our ancestors not discovered the potential of using million year old plant and
animal remains to create combustible power, the world would look very different. There is no denying
that energy production is one of, if not, the most important developments in human history. After a
hundred and fifty years of recklessly burning oil and coal, we find ourselves having to deal with the
literal mess unforeseen by our industrious ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are dozens, if not hundreds of oil and coal alternatives that are being considered, however,
while many options look promising in theory the overwhelming majority of them such as: wind, solar,
and biofuel just aren t economically feasible on a global scale. Nuclear power is growing in popularity
around the world for its extreme potency and zero emissions, but advancements in the field are few
and far between due to the bad stigma that surrounds nuclear power. This negative stigma stems from
its military roots and its potential for catastrophic disaster, which has become very real in the wake of
Japan s recent natural disasters. The answer to kicking our oil habit may actually be much simpler than
any of these other alternatives. The key to securing our energy independence may have been under our
feet the entire time we were bending to the oil cartel s (OPEC s) every demand.
Here in America we have been sitting atop a goldmine of natural gas wells that rank among the most
abundant in the world. While natural gas is by no means a renewable source of energy, reserves are
much more plentiful in America than oil. Natural gas also burns much cleaner than coal making it
friendlier to our heavily burdened atmosphere. Current estimates put our nation s natural gas supply
somewhere around twenty five hundred trillion cubic feet of technically recoverable natural gas from
all sources (Deutch, 2011). Approximately six hundred to seven hundred cubic feet lies

Descriptive Essay On Genji
I DID IT! I nearly hollered across my home. I BESTED you game, I am BETTER than you! That
night (A fairly alluring night) was not a night to stargaze, that night was the night to play video games
until the legendary 2 minute game was won. I would would triumph even if it had meant staying up
until 3 AM. I was placed in another game in the fictional city of Hanamura, Japan. It was about time to
get the 2 minute game in the books, and it seemed like the game wanted me to achieve it aswell. The
first thing that the game had done for me was put me on the attacking team, which makes it so that I
could actually set the speed by if we were good enough that we could capture both points in 2 minutes
(explanation later). Another thing that was prepared for by the game is that the character that I play as
the most, Genji, is from Hanamura. That does nothing for me, but it is pretty cool that the character
that I normally play as was possibly going to get the 2 minute game in his home town. The good thing
about Hanamura is that it is attacker friendly and is the best map for getting the 2 minute game. Genji
is a character that shoots ninja stars from his arm and looks like a 100% ninja robot, but is part human
and has a human shape. He can climb walls and double jump as passive abilities. Is 2 special moves
are a dash move and being able to deflect bullets for a few seconds. He has a gargantuan katana as his
ultimate. Now all that I have to do is select Genji before anyone

Why Is Individual Liberty Important
I believe in individual liberty it is extremely importance to any society. One thing that is important to
an individual liberty is freedom, which I value the most today. Freedom give people the opportunity to
speak, the right to their own opinion and pursue happiness. Freedom is very important to every human
being because it gives you a chance to express yourself and give you an overall quality of life.
However, there is certain limitations when it comes to freedom that we all must live with and that is
the laws that we all must obey.
People have the right to freedom of speech however, every person is responsible for their own action,
life, and well being, everyone should be judge individually regardless of race, gender, and or religion.

I feel that the laws for personal liberty go too far when a woman who is experiencing an unwanted
pregnancy and decide not to carry the baby to full term by terminating the pregnancy by utilizing a
safe and affordable abortion, society has been against abortion for years and have been trying to stop
legalizing abortion. This is a woman rights and should stay a woman chose to decide whether she
want to carry a baby full term or not. Stop legalizing abortion in my opinion would not be in the best
interest of the women. There could be several reasons why a woman doesn t want to continue her
pregnancy, it could be for reason like she was rape, not financially ready, to young or to old, not
marry, and not stable to start a family. I personally feel that having an abortion it not affecting anyone
or anybody. It is a personal decision for the individual. Laws are created to protect the

JNC VIII Recommendations For Hypertension
What is JNC VIII recommendations for hypertension?
JNC 8 has a hypertension guideline algorithm. Patients older than 60 should be placed on
pharmacological treatment if SPB is 150 mm Hg or higher and DBP is 90 mm Hg or higher. Target
goal is 150/90 Patient less than 60 should be placed on pharmacological treatment if SPB is 140 mm
Hg or higher and DBP is 90 mm Hg or higher. Target goal is 140/90. Initial drug of choice for
nonblack patients is an ACEI, ARB, thiazide or CCB alone or in combination. Black patients should
be started on a thiazide or CCB alone or in combo. It is recommended to start one drug titrate to
maximum dose and then add another drug if target goal has not been achieved. Combination therapy is
recommended if BP is greater than 20/10 mm Hg from target. I also gives a guideline for all ages if the
patient is diabetic without kidney disease or the patient has kidney disease without diabetes
(Armstrong, 2014). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
JNC 7 was shown that a SPB less than 120 mm Hg was normal. Patients with a range of 12 139 mm
Hg were in the prehypertension stage. Prehypertension stage was defined for patients that were at risk
for developing hypertension. Stage 1 were patients with a SBP of 140 159 mm Hg. Stage 2 were
patients with a SBP 160 170 mm Hg. JNC 7 also recommended the initial start of a thiazide diuretic,
which has not been the initial drug of choice in JNC 8.
I personally like algorithms and I found JNC 8 easy to follow. I have the algorithm in my binder that I

The Theory Of Foreign Policy Changes
In Painful Choices, David Welch is entirely focused on developing a theory of when and why foreign
policy changes. Welch is also interested in a way to forecast these changes. His assembled theory,
which I will evaluate in greater depth, is termed the Loss Aversion Theory of Foreign Policy Change .
This Theory entails three hypotheses on the conditions under which we can expect and, more
importantly, predict changes in foreign policy. Although Welch remains humble regarding his Theory s
drawbacks and predictive capabilities, there are some potentially problematic assumptions at the
foundation of Loss Aversion Theory. I will discuss why Welch s Theory is primarily useful solely at
the Individual Level. Finally, I intend to discuss why the Theory is not a comprehensive theory of
foreign policy and why the assumptions required for the Theory to hold limit the cases that can be
explained by it. After finding numerous theoretical and practical difficulties in the attempts thus far to
draft of a theory of state behavior, Welch proposes that [a] possible way out of [these difficulties] is to
seek to base predictions not on explanations of why states behave the way they do in general... but on
explanations of why they deviate from their prior behavior. Looking only at the changes in state
behavior is a radical approach; it is a perspective from which what [states] do in general is irrelevant.
2 Temporarily ignoring state goals, Welch turns his attention to how states

Cmdmc Goal 4
Goal #3: The ability to analyze and produce a strong understanding of imagery. As CMDC students,
we are learn not only to be intelligent in our work, but artistic as well to create well thought out design
and style. Regardless if your skills align in web development, graphic design, or 3D creation, having a
strong sense of visual form is key to producing a quality product. By the time a student graduates from
the program, they will without a doubt have an understanding of how to arrange their work in a proper
visual layout. DTC 336, composition and design, pushes students to acknowledge what works and
what doesn t work when it comes to visual design. This was something I had a good understanding of
when entering the program, as I had already taken numerous drawing, painting, and digital
photography classes. The ability to transfer art skills from pencil and paper to a digital canvas such as
Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop is a particular change I adapted to during my education. These digital

As a CMDC graduate, I am confident in my ability to create media objects for a wide range of digital
formats. The process of creating a 3D asset from start to finish can be daunting and cumbersome when
approaching it for the first time, from the very first rough concept arts, low poly modeling, high poly
sculpting, mesh unwrapping, UV baking and texturing, and finally to rigging and exporting, there is a
lot to understand before hoping to produce something is a successful manner. A good pipeline is key
for any digital media production, and is essential in creating work that will be passed to other parts of
the workflow. The work I created through the CMDC was structured to prepare myself for working
alongside other professionals and being able to confidently hand off my work to them, or receive work
from others and understand what has already been done

Cyber Mercenary Group Known As The Desert Falcons
Executive summary
The information within this report will give the reader an in depth look into the cyber mercenary
group known as the Desert Falcons . They operate out of the Middle East, particularly Palestine, Egypt
and Israel and are distinctly interested in the political and information landscape of their region. The
Desert Falcons display limited scope for attacks against major powers at this point in time, rather, they
concentrate their attacks on local power players. This includes local government and military targets
in addition to powerful individuals in the area. The group has been credited as having had designed a
native scripting language and being capable of complex social engineering attacks. The information
taken from the targets is usually of a sensitive or confidential nature and, therefore, is used by Desert
Falcons to blackmail the people and organisations the information was taken from. The main
technique used to gain this information is that of a Trojan virus embedded within a social engineering
attack that gains the trust of the victim before unloading the Trojan virus s payload. Attacks against
targets include high ranking military personnel, financial, media and even government departments
and pivotal personnel have been recognised as the Desert Falcons because they have taken
responsibility over them and have demanded ransoms for the attacks. The Desert Falcons face several
different limitations within their organisation. These limitations stem

Narcolepsy Research Paper
Narcolepsy: A call for further research
Jelisha Walcott
Extra Credit Research Paper
Bch 3025
Abstract
Narcolepsy is a neurological, sleep disorder that affects 1 in 2000 Americans. It is not selective against
race, nor gender, and does not have a link among family members. Therefore anyone, and everyone is
susceptible to having narcolepsy. In addition narcolepsy is often misunderstood, underdiagnosed
and/or misdiagnosed. Currently there is no cure for this chronic and sometimes debilitating condition.
The focus of this paper is to re examine current knowledge of narcolepsy, through significant
scientific research, in order to generate a desire to continue to search for a cure that will lead to the
improvement of the quality of life for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to accomplish this the researchers used partially digested DNA fragments from a Doberman
pinscher to create a large insert bacterial artificial chromosome (BAC) canine genomic library. PCR
testing, chromosome walking, homology mapping, DNA sequencing, etc., was performed on the
canine model and compared to a human model. Comparison of gene maps for several affected and non
affected animals allowed the sequence to be narrowed down into a region likely to be involved with
narcolepsy. The researchers were able to determine that mutations in the hypocretin (orexin) receptor
2 gene (Hcrtr2) resulted in canine narcolepsy. On a surface level, this article was first chosen because
it was one of the most frequently cited articles involving narcolepsy. However upon reading it, one
can see why it has great significance. The paper established that hypocretins play a major role as
neurotransmitters in sleep. Further research was conducted to see if Hcrtr2 played a similar role in
humans and if targeting the gene could cure

Peripheral Arterial Disease
Peripheral Arterial disease is defined by the thickening of its walls with deposits of cholesterol and
lipids within the artery. The thickening of the arteries can lead to occlusion causing damage to the
arteries. It is seen in these patients for them to higher blood pressure because of the narrowing of the
arteries causes more pressure to pump blood to its tissue. Some damage caused by the lipids
accumulating(Hyperlipidemia) in the arterial wall is known as endothelial injury. Collagen responds
by covering the fatty streaks by creating a plaque which can be either on the side of the arterial wall or
around the arterial wall with a small hole left for blood to flow. After these plaques have been
established it is seen to affect the blood flow

Summary Of Witness For The Prosecution By Agatha Christie
On April 22, 23, 29, and 30th, Highland Highschool Drama Club presented Witness for the
Prosecution by Agatha Christie. On all four days at Highland Highschool I saw, and was part of, the
play. In a combination of the set, props, acting, and story, the production was a terrific success.
The affable Leonard Vole is being tried for the murder of a wealthy woman, and a famous lawyer Sir
Wilfrid Robarts the main character has chosen to represent him. Unfortunately, Wilfred is given false
proof by Leonard s wife, Christine Vole, who had appeared in court against him previously, and
proved Leonard innocent. To Sir Wilfred s surprise, Christine confesses to setting it all up to save
Leonard, who in fact was guilty. Eventually, Christine kills her husband for leaving her after all she
had done for him. Personally, I truly loved the play as a whole;however, the story was the best part.

projected well. One can always improve, but I would not change a thing in neither my acting nor set
contribution.
The courtroom drama Witness for the Prosecution by Agatha Christie, presented by the Highland High

Persuasive Speech On Whaling
Known for being the main attraction at SeaWorld, whales are often admired by tourists and locals.
Some may call whales fish, but they aren t, whales are considered mammals due to the fact that they
breathe air. They re apart of the group called Cetaceans which also includes dolphins and porpoises
and they can be found throughout many oceans. We hardly shed light on commercial whaling because
it doesn t seem to affect us as humans; however, knowing that we could be the solution to this problem
may change many views on this horrid topic. Whales have many different species, but the biggest of
them all is the Blue Whale weighing in at about 150 tons and growing up to 110 feet long. The earliest
record of whaling as an organized business is dated about 875 , these aquatic mammals have been
hunted for thousands of years now. In the 20th century, they often hunted whales for their blubber, oil
and wax, most of which were important ingredients for many things like soap, lamps and lipstick. A
list of endangered species includes whales such as, Bowhead whales, Gray whales, Blue whales,
Humpback whales, Right whales, Sei whales, Beluga whales, Finback whales, Sperm whales, etc. Not
only has whaling, the act of killing whales for their resources, affected the list of endangered species,
but so has the loss of their territory. Certain species like the Beluga have become endangered due to
the loss of habitat as mankind has corrupted their territory.
Whaling started off with the crewman on a ship rowing themselves in a separate boat towards the
whale. Once they were close enough, they would throw a harpoon attached to a long rope and impale
the whale. The long rope was necessary to tire out the whale as it tried to swim away, dragging it back
and killing it with lances. But times have changed and so has technology, in today s society, the
weapons they used before have improved drastically. The harpoons are mechanically propelled
meaning, they explode on impact. Whales that were too fast for the hunters are now subjects to kill.
The International Whaling Commission (IWC), has changed commercial whaling since it was created
in the 1940s. If commercial whaling were to go unchecked, unregulated hunting of whales would ve

The Incredible Work of Jane Goodall Essay
Jane Goodall is a historical woman that has taught human beings not only about chimpanzees, but
human nature as well. This primatologist held on to a dream from childhood that advanced into reality.
Jane quietly and patiently observed chimps in Africa, and then recorded their every move. Many
important discoveries came about because of this. Jane Goodall has remarkably changed the
perception of chimpanzees and humans alike. Despite the fact that Jane Goodall s family was always
on the move, her childhood was exciting. She owned a few animals that she would frequently observe,
and record what they did. According to an online source, Jane always seemed to have an interest in all
kinds of animals (Early Days 1). When Jane was a child she ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

First, Leakey had to get the funding for Jane. Goodall says in her book My Life with the
Chimpanzees, July 16, 1960, was a day I shall remember all my life. It was when I first set foot on the
shingle and sand beach of Chimpanzee Land that is Gombe National Park (57). It was as if all of her
dreams were finally coming true. It is said that Leakey picked Jane because she was patient and would
be able to observe for long periods of time. It was not long into Jane s research at Gombe that she
discovered that chimpanzees are resourceful enough to design their own tools (Facklam 40). The
chimps came up with clever and innovative ways to do this. They chewed leaves just enough to crush
them, put the leaf sponge into the water and soak it up, and sucked on the green sponge (Facklam 40).
Jane was very excited about this discovery that she instantly contacted Leakey to let him know. He
then said, we must redefine Man, redefine tool, or accept chimpanzees as humans (Goodall 802 )
Not only did Jane discover their tool making abilities, but also they eat both plants and animals, such
as bush pigs and termites (Goodall 1971). This fascinated many other primatologists because chimps
were once thought of as herbivores. Jane also realized chimpanzees seem to express the same feelings
humans do, though it is not certain (Goodall 598). Examples of such emotions are love, confusion,
fear, and aggression. They often show love and care to

Semi Autonomous Vehicles In William Gibson s The Shining
Imagine this, Mr. Jones, a fictitious character, is flying in to visit his family in Pittsburgh
Pennsylvania. He arrives at the Pittsburgh Int l Airport and instructs the Uber app on his phone to ring
him a ride and take him to his family s residence. A grey Ford Fusion pulls up to the curb, and Mr.
Jones notices that the roof looks like it s been taken over by a robotic parasite, cameras and sensors
festoon the once elegant design. Nevertheless he pops in his carry on luggage and gets in. Only to find
that no one is the car, just him, alone. He types in the address on the blinking iPad and the car drives
away seemingly knowing exactly where it s going. Mr. Jones is more frightened of this trip s outcome
than the first time he saw The Shining. This alarming, gut wrenching, nervous reaction will be quite
common if tech giants win the battle for Completely Autonomous Cars (CAC). Semi Autonomous
Cars (SAC) already exist and are extremely helpful to most people. These cars still have steering
wheels, pedals, gear selectors, etc. Most importantly they can still be controlled by humans. CAC are
boxes with a bench, no controls and no emergency override. Occupants are subjected to whatever the
car decides what is best for them. While this may sound like a perfect utopian future, it is closer to
something from a Ray Bradbury book than Disney s Tomorrowland.

Nuclear Deterrence is the Best Defense Against Nuclear War
In 1945, a great technological innovation was dropped over Japan, the atomic bomb. Ever since the
bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the world has faced the threat of nuclear attack. In reaction to
this, world governments have been forced to find a defense against nuclear attack. One solution to the
danger of nuclear attack is the use of nuclear deterrence. Nuclear deterrence is the possession and
launching of nuclear weapons for the sole purpose of defense and retaliation against a nuclear attack
from another country. Nuclear deterrence is the best answer to the danger of nuclear war, resulting in
world security and the prevention of nuclear war. However, some people believe ... Show more

There is a huge expense in maintaining and building the nuclear arms that we use for deterrence.
Nuclear information is secret, taking great amounts of money and time, to research and keep it
confidential. Power is gained from the research and development, which is definitely worth the
expense. The great amounts of money spent on nuclear technology help ensure the security of the
people of the United States. It takes huge amounts of money to have the edge in nuclear technology.
However, nuclear deterrence is even cheaper than war. The cost of building, operating, and
maintaining nuclear weapons is only $26.7 billion per year (Hellman). This is significantly less than
the cost of the 1991 [Persian Gulf] war, which came to nearly $80 billion (Dobbs). Deterrence is
economically and politically intelligent.
The Cold War is over and some people believe that we do not need nuclear deterrence anymore. The
U.S.S.R has fallen and Russia poses little threat to launch a nuclear attack on the United States.
Because of this, Russia and the United States have begun disarming their nuclear weapons. The
United States has reduced its nuclear stockpile of warheads from 31,265 in 1965 to about 10,455 in
2002, enough to use for deterrence ( Table of . . . ). This disarming agreement is only between these
two countries and they will continue to keep a minimum number of these nuclear warheads to deter
other countries. They realize that they are not a threat to each other,

Confidence Interval
Elon poll Understand the problem: The problem is asking (a) what is the relationship between
confidence interval, point estimate, and margin of error for poll results, and (b) how one would design
a poll to make the margin of error smaller. The information given is the confidence interval and the
sample size. Solve the problem: (a) given a confidence interval, determine the point estimate and the
margin of error. Confidence interval is symmetric, so the point estimate has to be the midpoint of the
interval. Confidence interval is 46.4% to 59.2%, point estimate is 52.8%. The margin of error is
defined as the half width of the confidence interval the distance between either end of the confidence
interval and the point estimate. Margin of error is 6.4%. (b) the margin of error is related to sample
size for a given % confidence interval. Where Z1 α is the critical value for the confidence interval 1
α. For a 95% confidence interval, α=0.05 and Z = 1.96 SE is the standard error p is the proportion n
is the sample size This equation shows that margin of error is inversely related to the square root of
the sample size. In order to get a smaller margin of error, one needs to have a larger sample size. In
this problem, for Z=1.96, p=0.528, and n=125 people, the margin of error is 6.4%. If the sample size
were changed to 1000, then the margin of error would be 3.1%. Reflect on the problem: The crux of
this problem is the concept of confidence interval. This

Moreover, all engineers must play a much stronger role in the public policy process to provide the
right incentives for industry and others to move on sustainable path so that engineers can be

that benefits society in a holistic way now and in future. As Don Roberts advocates, we must become
better informed of the interdependence of environmental, economic, health and social issues, inform
others and become leaders, otherwise the agenda will be set by others who neither know the benefits
nor the limit of technology in a sustainable modern society
Sustainable economic development relies on technological change to achieve its aim but will
governments take the tough steps that are required to force radical technological innovation rather
than the technological fixes that have been evident to date? Such measures would require a long term
economic cost while industry will readjust. It would appear that so long as sustainable development is
restricted to minimal low cost adjustment that do not require value changes, institutional changes or

Key Success Factors Callaway Golf Company s (CGC) had seven key success factors to include: the
founder s vision; product design; pricing; product development; sales; marketing and the media. The
founder, Ely Callaway s vision is: If we make a truly more satisfying product for the average golfer,
not the professionals, and make it pleasingly different form the competition, the company would be
successful. However, this vision is change from other company s visions; the difference being that the
price is not mention. Product design: CGC introduced three new designs in golf clubs in 1988, the

CGC had to be on the leading edge of the latest technology and also exceed the customer s
expectations. Research and development was a critical part of its success and future success that CGC
had to place major focus on. They had to maintain their market edge plus solidify their hold as the
market leader by consistently releasing new models that differentiated it from competitor s products
and CGC s own products as well. If a product stayed in the market too long, the sales would
eventually peak and then start a downward trend, so getting out at the peak is the key. With the
product differentiation being one key to Callaway s success, the next focused on the consumer
knowledge of the piece of equipment. New technology is good for the golfing community, but if no
golfer is aware of the product or how to use it to its fullest potential, the customer will quickly become
dissatisfied. The CGC used television, golf magazines, trade publications, and word of mouth as its
primary forms of advertising. The company also endorsed professional golfers on all five major tours
(PGA, LPGA, Senior PGA, European PGA, and NIKE) as a vehicle to promote its products. CGC
used these professional endorsements more as a validation of the effectiveness of the product in its
marketing campaign. With the professional endorsement by these golfers, the target market was able
to see the product in action and also learn how to properly use them. With practice, these average

Snow Mountain Descriptive Writing
The sky is clear with a bright blue sky and puffy white clouds, and the crisp breeze is flowing
throughout the covered porch of our cabin. The trees covered with snow for as far as the eyes can see,
and the ground covered with inches of white, fluffy snow. This is my last family vacation before my
aunt, uncle, and cousins leave to go to Germany for the next five years. Today is the day that we go
snow tubing and skiing in Tennessee. The family wakes up at five in the morning and we all start to
pull on long sleeve shirts, wool leggings, and warm boots. The smell of bacon flows throughout the
cabin and the pitter patter of feet along the floor annonces that breakfast is ready. Gathered around the
table with intertwined hands, my family blesses ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I run to the line to hop onto the cart to bring us to the top of the mountain. Huffing and puffing with a
bright red nose and a cold burned face, I climb into the cart and await my ride up to the top of the
mountain. Finally, I exit the cart and walked onto the steep covered snow mountain. I look around and
just take in the view. Snow covered mountains for as far as the eyes can see and a crisp smell of pine
flows through the air. Blair, my cousin, and I finally gain enough courage to get in line to ski down the
slope. In one swift motion, I am off. My ski poles plunge into the damp snow and the wind hits my
face like an icy, cold wall. I glide through the snow as a ballerina dances across the dance floor with
poise and grace. I was on top of the world until suddenly my ski poles were firmly stuck in the snow,
but my body was still in motion. With no warning, I tumbled down the mountain into the damp snow.
I shivered and my clothes dripped with water as I approached the bottom of the mountain. I emerged
from the bottom of the mountain with soaking wet clothes, a winded face, and blue lips. My family
crowded around, but I could do nothing but laugh. Then, I suddenly started to cry because this was the
last vacation as a family we were going to have for the next six years. I wanted to embrace this
moment, but the thought of my family leaving killed

How Did Django Reinhardt Influence Jazz
During World War II, the people of Europe had very limited forms of entertainment to keep them
positive and their spirt s up. One source of happiness and entertainment for them was music though.
Jazz grew in popularity in Europe after it was introduced by American troops to Europeans during
World War I. It remained popular between wars and was known as a symbol of opposition to
colonialism during the second World War. One of the most famous and influential jazz guitarists of
this era was Django Reinhardt. Django Reinhardt was one of the most prominent musicians of his time

guitarists across different genres, inspiring great musicians like B.B. King and Carlos Santana. Django

Invasive Species Research Paper
The introduction of an invasive species can change the organization and functioning of the native
communities through various processes such as predation, parasite transfer or competitive exclusion.
The two main explanations why some exotic species become invasive species are superiority in
competition and the opportunistic use of ecological niches generated by human activities.
(Nishizawa). Invasive species contributed to the decline of 42% of the threatened and endangered
species in the United States. Not only that, invasive species impact is about five percent of the world s
economy. (Pimentel et al. 2005). For example, we were conducting an experiment with an invasive

Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change yourself and the world.
There is a reason why every civilization throughout time has valued education, because it truly can

Egyptians learning to write on papyrus tablets to late nineteenth century scientists striving to discover
medicines like penicillin, there has always been an urge in humanity to be better and to be more than

The strength and force of education is visible to anyone who cares to look at the recent Egyptian
revolution, where young students, with minds opened to the wonders of democracy, through
education, helped overthrow the yoke of suffering that their parents had silently borne. Education is
the silent and effective weapon of nonviolence, which can help people and societies break the cycle of
oppression that many have historically suffered from. Many oppressed societies, where dictators have
thrived, have had a paucity of education avenues.
Education liberates the mind from its shackles and fears and encourages it to challenge and to
communicate with others. It is not without a reason that education is at the bottom of the priority list
of dictators. It was also not without reason that upon annexation of neighboring states. Many dictators
find it easy to unscrupulously deny people education or better still, manipulate education to serve their
own selfish interests. Throughout history, and even today, autocratic leaders censor literature and
books and prevent potent ideas from spreading since they realize that an idea is the most powerful
force in the world and can transform a human being completely. More importantly though, to me, an
educated person also has the capability to objectively analyze issues, recognize and learn from

crop yield reductions is to apply water in excess of plant requirements so as to leach the salts out of
the root zone. (Letey and Dinar, 1986). This approach becomes particularly problematic in the case of

Literary Techniques Of Thomas Stoppard s Arcadia
Literary Techniques in Thomas Stoppard s Arcadia
Arcadia by Thomas Stoppard was written in 1993 depicting the correlation between order and
disorder, the present and the past. The concepts tackled in these areas were looked at closely in
comparison to the themes of love and death. Stoppard s work of art earned him a position among other
renowned contemporary playwrights after it was awarded as one of the outstanding plays that were
encompassed the subject of science widely. This was an award issued to it by the institution of Britain
in 2006. Arcadia represents the activities of the modern society in comparison to that which was in
existence before civilization came into place. The high evolutionary society comprises practices and
ideas that can be juxtaposed to strike a balance in the time. Therefore, it can be noted that Stoppard s
aim in this case was to juxtapose the ideas of the contemporary lifestyle and the activities of the past
in order to strike a balance for the highly evolutionary society.
The play Arcadia takes place during the years 1806, 1812, and the present day society. Sidley Park is
represented both in the ancient society and in the contemporary one as a country house in Derbyshire,
where the Coverly family resides. The play has various characters fashioned in the form of a family as
the center of all activity. People such as Bernard Nightingale and Septimus are the people responsible
for the dissemination of knowledge in the family. The plot comprises of

Ella Baker
The book Ella Baker and the Black Freedom Movement: A Radical Democratic Vision, by Dr. Barbara
Ransby was an incredible and extremely moving book. I really enjoy learning about history and
significant people who have impacted the history and culture of our country. However, I have never
learned of Ella Baker nor have I ever heard her name mentioned once. Barbara Ransby s book
provides a well structured and insightful biography of one of the most important, yet least well known,
leaders of the Civil Rights Movement. After reading Ransby s book, I have learned of the immense
contributions that Ella Baker has contributed to history, more specifically the Civil Rights Movement.
Furthermore, I have gained a greater understanding of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was amazing to see how much Ella Baker was ahead of her time. She was a strong, independent
woman decades before there was a women s movement. I was very interested in the issues that she
had with Dr. Martin Luther King and his style of leadership. To me it was important to see that not all
the leaders agreed but knew to respect each other because they were fighting for the same cause. It
was also interesting to see how Ella Baker still contributed to organizations that were not doing thing
her way in order to help build coalitions. This I feel was in important factor in the success of many
organizations during the movement.
She worked to advance what she called group centered leadership long before a belief in the
importance of internal and participatory democracy within our progressive organizations was widely
shared. She was a coalition builder. Principles were essential, but she was rarely if ever tactically
rigid. She understood that the way individuals lived their personal lives could not be divorced from
their political activities.
Ella Baker must be the most underrated figure in the civil rights movements. There are plenty of
Presidents who have done less to shape their own times than Ella Baker. She decisively shaped two of
the most important national civil rights organizations the NAACP and the SCLC, and was the single
most decisive figure in a SNCC. Ella Baker should not be forgotten when we talk about

If we break out the third octet displaying the binary values for each bit space this is how it would be
displayed.
128 | 64 | 32 | 16 | 8 | 4 | 2 | 1
This is our class C after applying CIDR notation.
128 | 64 | 32 | 16 | 8 | 4 | 2 / 0 = 254 By borrowing the one bit we have changed our subnet mask from
255.255.255.0 to 255.255.254.0.
The next step is to determine what our Network ID s will be, and what our usable hosts will be. This is
done by going back to the binary. There are 8 bits in each octet which is in base 2 the numerical value
of the binary numbers. This is equal to 28 or 256. When we borrow the one bit from the third octet we
are now adding that one bit to the original eight this changes our binary value from 8 bits to 9 bits
which is equal to 29 or 512. This means that we will now have 512 IP Addresses per subnet, and if we
apply the formula 2n 2 this will give us 510 usable hosts per subnet. We can then take this same
formula without the minus 2 to calculate the number of subnets that we will obtain from this
calculation. There are still seven on bits to the left in this octet. This is equal to 27 or 128. This means
that will obtain 128 subnets with this CIDR calculation.
This is the default C before we borrowed the one bit in binary notation,

The Cabin Of An Airplane
It s very easy to fall sick these days especially when you re traveling and you should try and find out

to contemplate some of the stories that we ve come across in the New England journal in the recent

travelling with them. The cabin of an airplane is a closed space and in this environment there s a lot of
chance for germs to multiply and spread. Some are even potentially hazardous like E_coli, salmo

Executive Vp For The Sarbanes Oxley Act
The case presents that Vince Patton, the executive VP (IT department) of RR communications has
been with the organization for a long time. It then shows the back story of IT circumstances it has
been facing in past and to date. The first problem of RR communications was it did not have one
central IT system; each division had their own system, databases and customer service center. Each
division had full power to develop and implement new projects and make decisions without involving
any other division members as well as the company head. Due to this decentralized system; RR
communications was facing problems such as customers reporting having multiple receipts and would
prefer one receipt for their all transactions. Having separate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Company has four key line of business Internet, mobile, landline, and cable TV service. Each one line
of business had own individual divisional CIO with no central leadership. Each division CIO had their
own system and functioned based on how it affects its department only. Thus, providing no
coordination between other divisions and unable to ensure that the decision made in one division
might affects negatively to rest of the division or organization as a whole. The new VP suggested to
divisional CIOs to unify the systems and management which was a no go from the leaders. DIOs were
so imbedded with individualism that the unified system and management seemed to them loosing the
power and control which led for rejection. To implement a centralized system which delivers new
products/services, company s value and fast customer service Vince was forced to fire four CIOs who
thought the centralized system will not work and tried to sabotage the implementation process.
Below is brief answer provided for discussion questions:
1. List the advantages of a single customer service center for RR Communications.
With the single customer service center RR communication can eliminate the duplication of receipts,
multiple receipts, avoid or minimize the redundancy, expedite the process for credit approval or

Analysis Of Tim O Brien s The Things They Carried All...

Mr. Kavo
Confrontation In America, 1
30 October, 2017
The Same Deep Water As You: Tim O Brien s Methods To Overcome Loss Throughout the 1980s, Dr.
Terence M. Keane ran experiments on a new idea called exposure therapy. The case studied how
victims of trauma would react to being repeatedly shown places, imagines, and stories that mirrored
theirs. In the study was twenty four veterans of the Vietnam War, and at the end of the study, they no
longer had reactions classified as severe anxiety. Like the veterans in this case study, soldiers in Tim O
Brien s The Things They Carried all experience the death of their friend, Kiowa, which results in
feelings of loss and trauma. In one way or another, all these men try to ... Show more content on

Psychically, he cleanses himself in same water that sourced his loss. He does not keep these feelings to
himself, like he so easily could, but instead he accepts them. The further he gets into the mucky water,
the more his mindset begins to shift for the positive. The guilt lifts and the story he is planning to tell
changes narrative: Near the center of the field, First Lieutenant Jimmy Cross squatted in the muck,
almost entirely submerged. In his head he was revising the letter to Kiowa s father. Impersonal this
time (176). Though the impersonalization of his thoughts seems like a negative quality, it actually
shows improvement. Jimmy is further into the water, and feeling less responsible for the sudden death.
He no longer thinks of his own opinions on Kiowa, just the facts. He died. It was an accident. The
order was from higher up, not even Jimmy. No one can be blamed. No one should be haunted by the
guilt. By being in the moment, and the setting, he is able to clear his mind and come to realizations
about it all. He sinks into the filth, and ironically, becomes clean again. Eventually, he lets himself go
into the water, ignoring everyone and everything in that moment: But First Lieutenant Jimmy Cross
wasn t listening. Eyes closed, he let himself go deeper into the waste, just letting the field take him.

A Typical Victorian Villian in The Speckled Band Essay
Coursework The Speckled Band How does Conan Doyle present Dr. Grimesby Roylott as a typical
Victorian Villain. Having now read this book I feel I am now able to complete this essay about
Roylott. The main constituents of a typical classic murder mystery invariably consist of a body, a
motive, a weapon, a suspect, an alibi and a detective. Conan Doyle s,The Speckled Band demonstrates
all those typical characteristics. I am now going to briefly summarise the story and identify each of the
ingredients of the murder mystery, The Speckled Band, to help the reader understand the elements of
the story. I will then analyse how Conan Doyle presents Dr. Roylett as a typical Victorian villain. The
story begins with Holmes and Watson ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There was then a huge squeal at which point Helen rushed into Julia s bedroom. She found her dead
on the floor with her face contorted with anguish and terror. Holmes and Watson asked Helen if they
could visit Stoke Moron, the house where Julia died. Suddenly Roylott bursts in and threatens
Holmes. It is now obvious that Roylott has followed Helen, to Baker Street, the residence of Holmes.
Holmes and Watson caught a train to Leatherhead as they made their way to Stoke Moron. Roylott has
gone out for the day so they are free to examine the house. Holmes inspects the house in his usual
manner, thoroughly looking for any clues. He scrutinises the scene and objects with fine detail, unlike
Watson who is less careful and less observant. Holmes obtains the necessary clues, such as an air vent
not leading outside and the bed being chained to the floor. Holmes informs Watson and Helen Stoner
of his plan. Holmes and Watson waited for night to fall and following a cue from Helen Stoner, made
there way into Julia s bedroom. They then sat and watched the ventilator until they saw a light. They
then made sure nothing could come through the ventilator into the room and that anything that did try
to get in would return from where it came from. The plan was perfectly executed and Roylott had been
killed! It was apparent to Holmes that Roylott had killed Julia and would try to kill Helen with a
venomous snake by putting the snake through the

The Generation, Generation Y, Born From 1980
The workforce in most workplaces is now made up of up to four generational cohorts. The diversity
between these generations, in how they work and how they use technology, can create conflict, and in
some cases reduce productivity. Conflicts caused by the generational gaps are due to differences in
work ethics, habits, and styles, attitudes, and expectations. Most of these changes have developed due
to the changing technology each generation works with. The newer generations are more experienced
and reliant on technology, while older generations will prefer to not use technology in the same ways.
This forces the employers to find some way to help the generations work together more effectively.
First is the newest generation, Generation Y, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is also part of why they like to change their jobs and careers more often than other generations;
they don t like that much sameness. Another issue is how their lives run. Generation Y is the busiest
generation ever, particularly when younger, resulting in less free time, and may mean their lives are
more scheduled. This can cause conflict when shifts need to be covered, and may make them more
inclined to get shifts off, which others may see as issues. Gen Y has also begun to read far less, even
over electronics, meaning they will take in much less from long written reports, policies, etc.
Employers will need to either find an alternative, or offer multiple forms of communicating the
information. For most of Gen Y, the more that is done using electronics, the better, making the key to a
functioning workplace with Gen Y implementing technologies into how the workplace runs. A balance
will have to be found, as the other generations are not as technologically inclined as Gen Y tends to
be. Generation Y should be valued for their understanding of technology and insight into its uses.
They will be capable of helping implement technology into the workplace, improving efficiency. Most
importantly, they can assist older generations in understanding newer technology. A lack of experience
only means they need to be taught, not that they will be incompetent. Generation Y

Tim Tebow s Strength is Jesus Christ
¨When people see the work ethic, determination and the passion that I have, they re going to ask, What
drives you? What is that? Well, the answer is my relationship with Jesus Christ. that s just what has
always fueled me. (Rogeberg). As a tremendously skilled and dedicated athlete, Tim Tebow uses his
strengths to show Christ to people in a unique way. Tim Tebow demonstrates that Christlikeness and
courage are essential to being a strong leader. On a crisp summer day, August the fourteenth, nineteen
eighty seven, a legend in football and leader in Christ was born, named Timothy Richard Tebow. He
was born into a small town in the Philippines called Makati City. Tim Tebow s parents were originally
from America but they moved to the Philippines to do baptist missionary work (Whitaker, 5). In
October of 1990 Tim Tebow s family of four other older siblings moved to Jacksonville, Florida where
Tim was raised. The Tebow s next door neighbor, Uncle Dick, was like a true uncle to Tim. Most of
his childhood memories were spent in Uncle Dick s household (Whitaker, 7). You rarely see
homeschoolers turn into NFL stars, but Tim Tebow was one. His mother homeschooled him from
kindergarten until senior year of high school. His mother and father were his biggest influence to
getting to know Christ ( Tim Tebow Biography ). Tim Tebow says when he was seven years old he
had a strange fear of getting into a wreck and not spending eternity with God. With his parents help he
accepted Christ

The Role Of Masculinity In Videogames
Masculinity, as defined by Webster, is the possession of the qualities traditionally associated with men.
In the year of 2018, are we still following these traditional senses of masculinity in nontraditional
ways? Traditional masculinity/ hegemonic masculinity can be defined as a practice that legitimizes
men s dominant position in society, justifies the subordination of women, and other marginalized ways
of being a man. Even in such an advance society our ideas of masculinity lag in comparison to our
overall development of a greater culture. This delay is evident in our work environments, classrooms,
and any other place imaginable.
Through our advancement of society, technology itself has been a big contributor to the continuation
of hegemonic masculinity way of thinking. One of the ways technology enforces this ideology is
through themes presented in videogames. As stated by Nina Huntemann in her 2000 film, Game Over:
Gender, Race, Violence in Video Games, video games are often filled with violence and ... Show more

Gurian s concepts are geared towards boys and the sense of tradition masculinity. There is a way to
take these aspects of masculinity and make them positive. Gurian states one technique is to make
markers or rituals for the boys to accomplish. Like in videogames, there is often a mission to
accomplish, so creating curriculum that is more goal oriented can help boys to focus and succeed. And
Orenstein s ideology for girls would be to stress accomplishments as it is seen that they do not
generally take credit for their own accomplishments. My goal would be to make a healthier class for
both girls and boys. Though my approach may be different, I will hold both genders to the same
standards. I would not fall victim to the idea of boys will be boys . I instead will hold boys
accountable for their own actions and not allow any

Montresor s Aristocracy
Aristocracy in the nineteenth century was widespread and revered in many nations in Europe. It was
the basis upon which many diplomatic and governing bodies ruled. Poe attempts to portray an element
of social class and order into The Cask of Amontillado, though it was cleverly modulated almost to the
point of barely existing as is reminiscent of his literary aesthetic. Baraban adopted this principle as the
principal argument to the events occurring in the text. She explains that unlike many detective stories,
the question asked is not who did it? But why do it? In her research, she discovered that this single
unattainable portion of the story led to many critics justifying the actions of Montresor as a result of
his insanity, which was not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first offence as portrayed in the text was when Fortunato took hold of Montresor s arm and led
them towards the latter s residence. According to Baraban, He suffered when his offender virtually led
him to his palazzo because etiquette does not allow minor aristocracy the liberty of touching someone
of more noble origin. This supports her previously stated notion concerning the difference of class
between the two characters. Montresor, having a higher aristocratic background, feels unsettled with
Fortunato s display of dominance over the situation and his effort to belittle the esteem of his host.
The second offence was Fortunato s statement concerning the Montresor coat of arms, I forget your
arms....And the motto? Overlooking the main identifier and representative figure of a notable family is
an insult on its own, relaying the demeaning notion that one s family crest is not important enough to
be remembered and revered. The final offence committed by Fortunato was his implication that
Montresor was not a part of the masons. Then you are not of the brotherhood....You are not of the
masons. The masons were a group of nobles and social elites with high ranks in the society joined
together by their common need to influence decisions and policy making in the society, performing in
a sort of oligarchy. Montresor could not identify the gesture made by Fortunato because he was not as
involved in the politics of his peers as he ought to be in order to maintain his social standing in the
society. This proves why Fortunato was quick to assume that he was unaware of the inner workings of
the masonry

Theme Of The Moon In A Midsummer Night Dream
The sun is a constant in our lives. We wake up to it faithfully rising on the horizon. We enjoy its
unceasing warmth and energy throughout the day before falling asleep after it sets. With night passing
quickly, we take no notice of the moon that resides in place of the sun. However, it is this unnoticed
moon that more accurately mirrors our perception of time and the phases in our lives. William
Shakespeare realized this about the moon. In his play, A Midsummer s Night Dream, he uses the motif
of the moon to symbolize both time and the phases in our lives just as he does through the characters
of the play.
Shakespeare conveys the passage of time through the character of Theseus early on in the play.
Theseus, referencing the moon, expresses his distaste for how slow time is passing by saying in line 2:
Another moon: but, O, methinks, how slow this old moon wanes! she lingers my desires, like to a step
dame or a dowager long withering out a young man revenue (AMND 1.1.3 6.) Theseus is dissatisfied
because he wants to be with his fiance, Hippolyta, now rather than waiting for the moon to wane.
However, Hippolyta reassuringly replies to Theseus in line 8, that Four days will quickly steep
themselves in night; Four nights will quickly dream away the time; And then the moon, like to a silver
bow new bent in heaven, shall behold the night of our solemnities (1.1.7 11). Hippolyta, also referring
to the moon, is telling Theseus that soon enough the time will be here for them to be together. Another
example of the moon representing time can be seen when Theseus is speaking to Hermia about who
she will marry and how she will obey her father s commands. Take time to pause; and, by the nest new
moon The sealing day betwixt my love and me, (1.1.85 87). Here again, Shakespeare uses the motif of
the moon to represent time and effectively shows how his characters live their lives around it.
Shakespeare also uses the idea of moon phases to symbolize both the difficulties and the good
fortunes in one s life. For example, Shakespeare relates the darkness of the moon to the difficult life of
a nun and the difficult decision that Hermia must make. In Lines 70 78, Theseus declares to Hermia,

  • 2. Mercury Athletic Footwear Mercury Athletic Footwear: Valuing the Opportunity Active Gear, Inc. (AGI) is a privately held footwear company and is contemplating the possibility of acquiring Mercury Athletic Footwear. West Coast Fashions Inc., a large designer and marketer of men s and women s branded apparel recently announced that it plans to shed its Mercury Athletic Footwear subsidiary. AGI s head of business development, John Liedtke, believes acquiring Mercury Athletic Footwear is a good option for the company. Although AGI is currently among the most profitable firms in the footwear industry, it is also much smaller than most of its competitors, which the company s management views as a competitive disadvantage. During the past three years AGI s revenue ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even with this high WACC the present value of the company is $197,114.71. In Exhibit 3, we assumed that Mercury s WACC decreased to 4% either due to favorable leverage or credit market conditions. With this WACC the estimated present value of the company is $242,045.03. Another quantitative method we used to value the possible acquisition of Mercury was estimating Mercury s horizon value based on its excess free cash flow using the Gordon growth model. A company s horizon value is its value at the end of a certain period. This value can be used as a present value of a company. The basic assumption of the Gordon growth model is that a company will generate free cash flows at a consistent growth rate for an indefinite amount of time. The model uses the following equation: [Free Cash Flow*(1+Growth Rate)/ (WACC Growth Rate)]+PV of Previous Future Periods Cash Flows The free cash flow used in this model is the free cash flow from the future period in which the company is expected to hit its long term growth rate. The present value of the future periods cash flows before the company is expected to hit its long term growth rate is then added. The result of this equation is the company s estimated horizon value. A drawback of this method is that a company s growth rate may vary from year to year and this model may not be able to account for this fluctuation. We chose not to use other horizon value analyses ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Problem Of Energy Production In today s society, it s nearly impossible to open a newspaper, fire up a computer, or hold a conversation that isn t someway related to energy. Since the beginning of the industrial revolution over a century and a half ago, nothing has been more pivotal to mankind s rise to power as the apex species of planet earth. Had our ancestors not discovered the potential of using million year old plant and animal remains to create combustible power, the world would look very different. There is no denying that energy production is one of, if not, the most important developments in human history. After a hundred and fifty years of recklessly burning oil and coal, we find ourselves having to deal with the literal mess unforeseen by our industrious ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are dozens, if not hundreds of oil and coal alternatives that are being considered, however, while many options look promising in theory the overwhelming majority of them such as: wind, solar, and biofuel just aren t economically feasible on a global scale. Nuclear power is growing in popularity around the world for its extreme potency and zero emissions, but advancements in the field are few and far between due to the bad stigma that surrounds nuclear power. This negative stigma stems from its military roots and its potential for catastrophic disaster, which has become very real in the wake of Japan s recent natural disasters. The answer to kicking our oil habit may actually be much simpler than any of these other alternatives. The key to securing our energy independence may have been under our feet the entire time we were bending to the oil cartel s (OPEC s) every demand. Here in America we have been sitting atop a goldmine of natural gas wells that rank among the most abundant in the world. While natural gas is by no means a renewable source of energy, reserves are much more plentiful in America than oil. Natural gas also burns much cleaner than coal making it friendlier to our heavily burdened atmosphere. Current estimates put our nation s natural gas supply somewhere around twenty five hundred trillion cubic feet of technically recoverable natural gas from all sources (Deutch, 2011). Approximately six hundred to seven hundred cubic feet lies ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Descriptive Essay On Genji I DID IT! I nearly hollered across my home. I BESTED you game, I am BETTER than you! That night (A fairly alluring night) was not a night to stargaze, that night was the night to play video games until the legendary 2 minute game was won. I would would triumph even if it had meant staying up until 3 AM. I was placed in another game in the fictional city of Hanamura, Japan. It was about time to get the 2 minute game in the books, and it seemed like the game wanted me to achieve it aswell. The first thing that the game had done for me was put me on the attacking team, which makes it so that I could actually set the speed by if we were good enough that we could capture both points in 2 minutes (explanation later). Another thing that was prepared for by the game is that the character that I play as the most, Genji, is from Hanamura. That does nothing for me, but it is pretty cool that the character that I normally play as was possibly going to get the 2 minute game in his home town. The good thing about Hanamura is that it is attacker friendly and is the best map for getting the 2 minute game. Genji is a character that shoots ninja stars from his arm and looks like a 100% ninja robot, but is part human and has a human shape. He can climb walls and double jump as passive abilities. Is 2 special moves are a dash move and being able to deflect bullets for a few seconds. He has a gargantuan katana as his ultimate. Now all that I have to do is select Genji before anyone ... • 5. Why Is Individual Liberty Important I believe in individual liberty it is extremely importance to any society. One thing that is important to an individual liberty is freedom, which I value the most today. Freedom give people the opportunity to speak, the right to their own opinion and pursue happiness. Freedom is very important to every human being because it gives you a chance to express yourself and give you an overall quality of life. However, there is certain limitations when it comes to freedom that we all must live with and that is the laws that we all must obey. Stop legalizing abortion in my opinion would not be in the best interest of the women. There could be several reasons why a woman doesn t want to continue her pregnancy, it could be for reason like she was rape, not financially ready, to young or to old, not marry, and not stable to start a family. • 7. The Theory Of Foreign Policy Changes In Painful Choices, David Welch is entirely focused on developing a theory of when and why foreign policy changes. Welch is also interested in a way to forecast these changes. His assembled theory, which I will evaluate in greater depth, is termed the Loss Aversion Theory of Foreign Policy Change . This Theory entails three hypotheses on the conditions under which we can expect and, more importantly, predict changes in foreign policy. Although Welch remains humble regarding his Theory s drawbacks and predictive capabilities, there are some potentially problematic assumptions at the foundation of Loss Aversion Theory. I will discuss why Welch s Theory is primarily useful solely at the Individual Level. Finally, I intend to discuss why the Theory is not a comprehensive theory of foreign policy and why the assumptions required for the Theory to hold limit the cases that can be explained by it. After finding numerous theoretical and practical difficulties in the attempts thus far to draft of a theory of state behavior, Welch proposes that [a] possible way out of [these difficulties] is to seek to base predictions not on explanations of why states behave the way they do in general... but on explanations of why they deviate from their prior behavior. Looking only at the changes in state behavior is a radical approach; it is a perspective from which what [states] do in general is irrelevant. 2 Temporarily ignoring state goals, Welch turns his attention to how states ... Cyber Mercenary Group Known As The Desert Falcons Executive summary The information within this report will give the reader an in depth look into the cyber mercenary group known as the Desert Falcons . They operate out of the Middle East, particularly Palestine, Egypt and Israel and are distinctly interested in the political and information landscape of their region. The Desert Falcons display limited scope for attacks against major powers at this point in time, rather, they concentrate their attacks on local power players. This includes local government and military targets in addition to powerful individuals in the area. The group has been credited as having had designed a native scripting language and being capable of complex social engineering attacks. The information taken from the targets is usually of a sensitive or confidential nature and, therefore, is used by Desert Falcons to blackmail the people and organisations the information was taken from. The main technique used to gain this information is that of a Trojan virus embedded within a social engineering attack that gains the trust of the victim before unloading the Trojan virus s payload. Attacks against targets include high ranking military personnel, financial, media and even government departments and pivotal personnel have been recognised as the Desert Falcons because they have taken responsibility over them and have demanded ransoms for the attacks. In addition narcolepsy is often misunderstood, underdiagnosed and/or misdiagnosed. Currently there is no cure for this chronic and sometimes debilitating condition. Comparison of gene maps for several affected and non affected animals allowed the sequence to be narrowed down into a region likely to be involved with narcolepsy. The researchers were able to determine that mutations in the hypocretin (orexin) receptor 2 gene (Hcrtr2) resulted in canine narcolepsy. On a surface level, this article was first chosen because it was one of the most frequently cited articles involving narcolepsy. However upon reading it, one can see why it has great significance. • 14. Persuasive Speech On Whaling Known for being the main attraction at SeaWorld, whales are often admired by tourists and locals. Some may call whales fish, but they aren t, whales are considered mammals due to the fact that they breathe air. They re apart of the group called Cetaceans which also includes dolphins and porpoises and they can be found throughout many oceans. We hardly shed light on commercial whaling because it doesn t seem to affect us as humans; however, knowing that we could be the solution to this problem may change many views on this horrid topic. Whales have many different species, but the biggest of them all is the Blue Whale weighing in at about 150 tons and growing up to 110 feet long. The earliest record of whaling as an organized business is dated about 875 , these aquatic mammals have been hunted for thousands of years now. In the 20th century, they often hunted whales for their blubber, oil and wax, most of which were important ingredients for many things like soap, lamps and lipstick. A list of endangered species includes whales such as, Bowhead whales, Gray whales, Blue whales, Humpback whales, Right whales, Sei whales, Beluga whales, Finback whales, Sperm whales, etc. Not only has whaling, the act of killing whales for their resources, affected the list of endangered species, but so has the loss of their territory. Certain species like the Beluga have become endangered due to the loss of habitat as mankind has corrupted their territory. Whaling started off with the crewman on a ship rowing themselves in a separate boat towards the whale. Once they were close enough, they would throw a harpoon attached to a long rope and impale the whale. The long rope was necessary to tire out the whale as it tried to swim away, dragging it back and killing it with lances. But times have changed and so has technology, in today s society, the weapons they used before have improved drastically. The harpoons are mechanically propelled meaning, they explode on impact. Whales that were too fast for the hunters are now subjects to kill. The International Whaling Commission (IWC), has changed commercial whaling since it was created in the 1940s. If commercial whaling were to go unchecked, unregulated hunting of whales would ve ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many important discoveries came about because of this. Jane Goodall has remarkably changed the perception of chimpanzees and humans alike. Despite the fact that Jane Goodall s family was always on the move, her childhood was exciting. She owned a few animals that she would frequently observe, and record what they did. It was not long into Jane s research at Gombe that she discovered that chimpanzees are resourceful enough to design their own tools (Facklam 40). The chimps came up with clever and innovative ways to do this. They chewed leaves just enough to crush them, put the leaf sponge into the water and soak it up, and sucked on the green sponge (Facklam 40). Jane was very excited about this discovery that she instantly contacted Leakey to let him know. He then said, we must redefine Man, redefine tool, or accept chimpanzees as humans (Goodall 802 ) Not only did Jane discover their tool making abilities, but also they eat both plants and animals, such as bush pigs and termites (Goodall 1971). This fascinated many other primatologists because chimps were once thought of as herbivores. Jane also realized chimpanzees seem to express the same feelings humans do, though it is not certain (Goodall 598). Examples of such emotions are love, confusion, fear, and aggression. He arrives at the Pittsburgh Int l Airport and instructs the Uber app on his phone to ring him a ride and take him to his family s residence. A grey Ford Fusion pulls up to the curb, and Mr. Jones notices that the roof looks like it s been taken over by a robotic parasite, cameras and sensors festoon the once elegant design. Nevertheless he pops in his carry on luggage and gets in. Only to find that no one is the car, just him, alone. He types in the address on the blinking iPad and the car drives away seemingly knowing exactly where it s going. Mr. Jones is more frightened of this trip s outcome than the first time he saw The Shining. This alarming, gut wrenching, nervous reaction will be quite common if tech giants win the battle for Completely Autonomous Cars (CAC). Semi Autonomous Cars (SAC) already exist and are extremely helpful to most people. These cars still have steering wheels, pedals, gear selectors, etc. Most importantly they can still be controlled by humans. CAC are boxes with a bench, no controls and no emergency override. Occupants are subjected to whatever the car decides what is best for them. While this may sound like a perfect utopian future, it is closer to something from a Ray Bradbury book than Disney s Tomorrowland. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Nuclear Deterrence is the Best Defense Against Nuclear War In 1945, a great technological innovation was dropped over Japan, the atomic bomb. Ever since the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the world has faced the threat of nuclear attack. In reaction to this, world governments have been forced to find a defense against nuclear attack. One solution to the danger of nuclear attack is the use of nuclear deterrence. Nuclear deterrence is the possession and launching of nuclear weapons for the sole purpose of defense and retaliation against a nuclear attack from another country. Nuclear deterrence is the best answer to the danger of nuclear war, resulting in world security and the prevention of nuclear war. However, some people believe ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is a huge expense in maintaining and building the nuclear arms that we use for deterrence. Nuclear information is secret, taking great amounts of money and time, to research and keep it confidential. Power is gained from the research and development, which is definitely worth the expense. The great amounts of money spent on nuclear technology help ensure the security of the people of the United States. It takes huge amounts of money to have the edge in nuclear technology. However, nuclear deterrence is even cheaper than war. The cost of building, operating, and maintaining nuclear weapons is only $26.7 billion per year (Hellman). This is significantly less than the cost of the 1991 [Persian Gulf] war, which came to nearly $80 billion (Dobbs). Deterrence is economically and politically intelligent. The Cold War is over and some people believe that we do not need nuclear deterrence anymore. The U.S.S.R has fallen and Russia poses little threat to launch a nuclear attack on the United States. Because of this, Russia and the United States have begun disarming their nuclear weapons. The United States has reduced its nuclear stockpile of warheads from 31,265 in 1965 to about 10,455 in 2002, enough to use for deterrence ( Table of . . . ). • 18. Confidence Interval Elon poll Understand the problem: The problem is asking (a) what is the relationship between confidence interval, point estimate, and margin of error for poll results, and (b) how one would design a poll to make the margin of error smaller. The information given is the confidence interval and the sample size. Solve the problem: (a) given a confidence interval, determine the point estimate and the margin of error. Confidence interval is symmetric, so the point estimate has to be the midpoint of the interval. Confidence interval is 46.4% to 59.2%, point estimate is 52.8%. The margin of error is defined as the half width of the confidence interval the distance between either end of the confidence interval and the point estimate. Margin of error is 6.4%. (b) the margin of error is related to sample size for a given % confidence interval. Where Z1 α is the critical value for the confidence interval 1 α. For a 95% confidence interval, α=0.05 and Z = 1.96 SE is the standard error p is the proportion n is the sample size This equation shows that margin of error is inversely related to the square root of the sample size. In order to get a smaller margin of error, one needs to have a larger sample size. In this problem, for Z=1.96, p=0.528, and n=125 people, the margin of error is 6.4%. If the sample size were changed to 1000, then the margin of error would be 3.1%. Reflect on the problem: The crux of this problem is the concept of confidence interval. This ... The next step is to determine what our Network ID s will be, and what our usable hosts will be. This is done by going back to the binary. There are 8 bits in each octet which is in base 2 the numerical value of the binary numbers. This is equal to 28 or 256. When we borrow the one bit from the third octet we are now adding that one bit to the original eight this changes our binary value from 8 bits to 9 bits which is equal to 29 or 512. This means that we will now have 512 IP Addresses per subnet, and if we apply the formula 2n 2 this will give us 510 usable hosts per subnet. We can then take this same formula without the minus 2 to calculate the number of subnets that we will obtain from this calculation. There are still seven on bits to the left in this octet. This is equal to 27 or 128. This means that will obtain 128 subnets with this CIDR calculation. The Cabin Of An Airplane It s very easy to fall sick these days especially when you re traveling and you should try and find out as much as possible about how you can prevent this from happening to you. Naturally, it s quite scary to contemplate some of the stories that we ve come across in the New England journal in the recent past, about airline passengers who have passed on some really worrisome diseases to others who are travelling with them. The cabin of an airplane is a closed space and in this environment there s a lot of chance for germs to multiply and spread. Some are even potentially hazardous like E_coli, salmo nella, coli form, rota virus. Even the common cold is not exempt as well as MRSA, which is very well known form of staph. You might think that these germs can be contracted from any place that has lots of people passing through, but the fact is that busier a place is, the more likely it is to have plenty of germs. But then, we can t possibly keep ourselves away from these places where germs breed so easily because for practical purposes we need to travel and even go to places that have heavy crowds like shops and movie halls. So what can you do to prevent picking up these germs if you simply have to travel or visit these places? Experts give a few pointers below on how to stay away from the germs and stay healthy. The diversity between these generations, in how they work and how they use technology, can create conflict, and in some cases reduce productivity. Conflicts caused by the generational gaps are due to differences in work ethics, habits, and styles, attitudes, and expectations. Most of these changes have developed due to the changing technology each generation works with. The newer generations are more experienced and reliant on technology, while older generations will prefer to not use technology in the same ways. This forces the employers to find some way to help the generations work together more effectively. First is the newest generation, Generation Y, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Generation Y is the busiest generation ever, particularly when younger, resulting in less free time, and may mean their lives are more scheduled. This can cause conflict when shifts need to be covered, and may make them more inclined to get shifts off, which others may see as issues. Gen Y has also begun to read far less, even over electronics, meaning they will take in much less from long written reports, policies, etc. Employers will need to either find an alternative, or offer multiple forms of communicating the information. For most of Gen Y, the more that is done using electronics, the better, making the key to a functioning workplace with Gen Y implementing technologies into how the workplace runs. A balance will have to be found, as the other generations are not as technologically inclined as Gen Y tends to be. Generation Y should be valued for their understanding of technology and insight into its uses. They will be capable of helping implement technology into the workplace, improving efficiency. In the year of 2018, are we still following these traditional senses of masculinity in nontraditional ways? Traditional masculinity/ hegemonic masculinity can be defined as a practice that legitimizes men s dominant position in society, justifies the subordination of women, and other marginalized ways of being a man. Even in such an advance society our ideas of masculinity lag in comparison to our overall development of a greater culture. This delay is evident in our work environments, classrooms, and any other place imaginable. Through our advancement of society, technology itself has been a big contributor to the continuation of hegemonic masculinity way of thinking. • 47. Montresor s Aristocracy Aristocracy in the nineteenth century was widespread and revered in many nations in Europe. It was the basis upon which many diplomatic and governing bodies ruled. Poe attempts to portray an element of social class and order into The Cask of Amontillado, though it was cleverly modulated almost to the point of barely existing as is reminiscent of his literary aesthetic. Baraban adopted this principle as the principal argument to the events occurring in the text. She explains that unlike many detective stories, the question asked is not who did it? But why do it? In her research, she discovered that this single unattainable portion of the story led to many critics justifying the actions of Montresor as a result of his insanity, which was not ... According to Baraban, He suffered when his offender virtually led him to his palazzo because etiquette does not allow minor aristocracy the liberty of touching someone of more noble origin. This supports her previously stated notion concerning the difference of class between the two characters. Montresor, having a higher aristocratic background, feels unsettled with Fortunato s display of dominance over the situation and his effort to belittle the esteem of his host. The second offence was Fortunato s statement concerning the Montresor coat of arms, I forget your arms....And the motto? Overlooking the main identifier and representative figure of a notable family is an insult on its own, relaying the demeaning notion that one s family crest is not important enough to be remembered and revered. The final offence committed by Fortunato was his implication that Montresor was not a part of the masons. Then you are not of the brotherhood....You are not of the masons. The masons were a group of nobles and social elites with high ranks in the society joined together by their common need to influence decisions and policy making in the society, performing in a sort of oligarchy. • 48. Theme Of The Moon In A Midsummer Night Dream The sun is a constant in our lives. We wake up to it faithfully rising on the horizon. We enjoy its unceasing warmth and energy throughout the day before falling asleep after it sets. With night passing quickly, we take no notice of the moon that resides in place of the sun. However, it is this unnoticed moon that more accurately mirrors our perception of time and the phases in our lives. William Shakespeare realized this about the moon. In his play, A Midsummer s Night Dream, he uses the motif of the moon to symbolize both time and the phases in our lives just as he does through the characters of the play. Shakespeare conveys the passage of time through the character of Theseus early on in the play. Theseus, referencing the moon, expresses his distaste for how slow time is passing by saying in line 2: Another moon: but, O, methinks, how slow this old moon wanes! she lingers my desires, like to a step dame or a dowager long withering out a young man revenue (AMND 1.1.3 6.) Theseus is dissatisfied because he wants to be with his fiance, Hippolyta, now rather than waiting for the moon to wane. However, Hippolyta reassuringly replies to Theseus in line 8, that Four days will quickly steep themselves in night; Four nights will quickly dream away the time; And then the moon, like to a silver bow new bent in heaven, shall behold the night of our solemnities (1.1.7 11). Hippolyta, also referring to the moon, is telling Theseus that soon enough the time will be here for them to be together. Another example of the moon representing time can be seen when Theseus is speaking to Hermia about who she will marry and how she will obey her father s commands. Take time to pause; and, by the nest new moon The sealing day betwixt my love and me, (1.1.85 87). Here again, Shakespeare uses the motif of the moon to represent time and effectively shows how his characters live their lives around it. Shakespeare also uses the idea of moon phases to symbolize both the difficulties and the good fortunes in one s life. For example, Shakespeare relates the darkness of the moon to the difficult life of a nun and the difficult decision that Hermia must make. In Lines 70 78, Theseus declares to Hermia, Whether, if ...
