Ready For Junior Year
To begin with, so far I started off on the right track this year and I m satisfied about it. There this one
question that has been constantly repeating itself on my head. Am I ready for junior year? I been
asking this question to myself constantly this school year. I believe that I m not ready for junior year.
The reason why I m saying this is because I feel like there a lot more concepts to know of to be
certified to myself that I m ready for junior year. Which is understandable to me because I know
myself if I m ready or not.
Moreover, I believe that there s still a lot to learn. Last year this question had come up around this
time period which around that time I thought was ready for sophomore year. However, I was wrong
because later on

India s Fields Of Rai Block Of Sonepat District
ABSTRACT
A study was conducted in farmers fields of Rai block of Sonepat district, Haryana, India to study the
long term impact of two widely adopted resource conservation technologies (RCT s) namely bed
planting and zero tillage on structural properties of soils of recent alluvial plains of the river Yamuna.
Aggregate mean weight diameter by dry sieving and wet sieving (DS MWD and WS MWD) under
different RCT s were studied to compare structural condition of the soils under continuous use of these
technologies. Other important structural indices such as dispersion ratio (a measure of ease of
dispersion; DR), colloid moisture equivalent ration (a measure of ease of percolation; CMER), erosion
ratio (ER), stability index (SI), soil organic carbon (SOC), clay ratio (CR) were also studied to
monitor the susceptibility of soil to erosion in the study area. Results revealed that in the surveyed
villages under conventional tillage (CT), the mean (of 6 samples) magnitude of DR and ER were 0.58
and 0.82, respectively, and CMER was 1, which indicated the erodible nature of these soils. Analysis
of data of bed and conventional systems revealed that on an average, there was about 19.08 % increase
in SOC in bed planted system compared to conventional system. The decrease of DR, ER and CR
from 0.66, 0.52 and 4.25 under CT to 0.42, 0.28 and 2.38 under beds indicated reduced eroding
tendency of these soils under bed planting. Comparison of soil data of ZT and CT showed

Explain What Will Happen When Will The Bomb Explode
[lib]Will the bomb explode?[/lib]
By Dame Eliza Bell MP, Member of Parliament for Truro
It has become apparent in recent days and weeks that there is a growning mistrust and even frustration
between the Prime Minister and her Chancellor of the Exchequer notwithstanding the fact that Mrs.
Aylward prefered to present the speech in Parliament on her own, rather than following centuries of
tradition and trusting the minister responsible. Indeed, she didn t even thank her own Cabinet member
for the work or rather mention him at all throughout the whole speech. Moreover, during a press
release, another confusion arrose the release itself claimed that there is a significant degree of mistrust
while the Chancellor s words stated just the opposite. So what next, when will the bomb explode?
It was just several years ago that a political divorce of that kind occured between the then Prime
Minister, Margaret Thatcher, and the then Chancellor Nigel Lawson. As a result, not only the
Conservative government was weakened, but so was the British economy as a ... Show more content

When it comes to this specific case, I do believe that it is important that all sources of mistrust and
uncertainty be revealed to the public and solved the Prime Minister should either seek an agreement
with her Chancellor and make it perfectly clear to the public what had actually happened, or she
should eventually seek a new Cabinet minister for the job otherwise, she would risk both the stability
of the government and the state of the economy. This is a perfect example why our vision to let the
Bank of England, maybe soon to be renamed to the Central Bank of the United Kingdom, authority

Pros and Cons of Organized Sports for Youths
Pros and Cons of Organized Sports for Youths Sports in America are one of the biggest sensations
around. They are everywhere you turn and they become a big part of most people s lives, whether they
actually participate in the sport or just watch it on television. Media and television play a huge role in
the obsession for sports. Constantly you see a professional athlete on a commercial, and see games on
throughout the day. Also sports becomes a business, they sell their jerseys, or pictures, and tickets to
games. Children are exposed to a wide range of media that offers various sporting events. Children
with parents that are sport fanatics usually become interested in sports and will attend games and most

Learning how to work together and with a large group of children is a very good skill to have.
A good parent child relationship has the great potential to evolve from being involved in sports.
(Ireland). When a child gets a sense of encouragement it usually affects the way they play and leads
them to succeed. Not only does the child get something out of it, but the parent learns how to
encourage their child while they control their competitive urge, and they tend to set goals for the child
that way they can strive to succeed in whatever thy are doing. Not only does it have the potential to
build a strong relationship with a parent or guardian but it also can help you feel better about yourself.
It gives you a drive to become healthy, boost you confidence, helps your self esteem, and also
motivates you and develops a sense of discipline. Also a big factor it helps reduce depression and the
feeling of sadness. Although people find many positives about playing organized sports, many people
found negatives in the sports. One is the fact of it being too competitive. Once a child gets the idea of
winning in their heads, or the idea that they might be better than an opposing player people get
worried that it will go too much to their heads. Just like the positives with the social skills, it can also
create negatives in social skills. Such as if a child thinks they are better than another player it can
result in people not liking that player because they

CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION
This chapter provides some background information relating to the core of the thesis.
1.1. WIRELESS NETWORKING INTRODUCTION
Wireless networking is an emerging technology that allows users to access information and services
electronically, regardless of their geographic position. The use of wireless communication between
mobile users has become increasingly popular due to recent performance advancements in computer
and wireless technologies. This has led to lower prices and higher data rates, which are the two main
reasons why mobile computing is expected to see increasingly widespread use and ... Show more

1.1. MOBILE AD HOC NETWORKS
1.1.1. Overview of Mobile Ad Hoc Networks
A Mobile Ad Hoc Network (MANET) consists of a set of mobile hosts that carry out basic networking
functions like packet forwarding, routing, and service discovery without the help of an established
infrastructure [1]. Nodes of an ad hoc network rely on one another in forwarding a packet to its
destination, due to the limited range of each mobile host s wireless transmissions. An ad hoc network
uses no centralized administration. This ensures that the network will not cease functioning just
because one of the mobile nodes moves out of the range of the others. Nodes should be able to enter
and leave the network as they wish. Because of the limited transmitter range of the nodes, multiple
hops are generally needed to reach other nodes. Every node in an ad hoc network must be willing to
forward packets for other nodes. Thus, every node acts both as a host and as a router. The topology of
ad hoc networks varies with time as nodes move, join or leave the network. This topological
instability requires a routing protocol to run on each node to create and maintain routes among the
nodes [21].

Why Miners Should Not Use Social Media
Social media has become an essential part of society in this day and age because of its many positives
that has many people including minors unable to stay away. While being a finger swipe away from
instant news and communication with others has it benefits for minors, there are also many negatives.
Most minors that post on social media sites, don t have their near future in mind when they hit post .
As social media becomes more prominent among minors, a record number of college admission
officers have admitted to checking their applicants online presents when deciding to offer them an
education at their college/university. This is why miners should not use social media, as their future
education often hinges upon what they post on online. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An illusion. According to an article in the Chicago Tribune by Heidi Stevens, forty percent of colleges
turn to facebook, instagram and other social media sites for context on applicants. Meanwhile thirty
seven percent of colleges discovered posts that decreased a students chance at admission, including
signs of criminal activity, drug or alcohol use, racial prejudice or inappropriate activity. For a lot of
students this means that the possibility of getting into a prestigious university could be taken away, by
a meaningless post online. An example that further proves this idea would be how a senior applying to
Bowdoin College in Brunswick Me. attended a campus information session for prospective students,
and throughout the presentation she tweeted malicious comments about her fellow attendees,
repeatedly using a common expletive. Little to her knowledge, the college kept track of her twitter
presence. She was ultimately denied admission to the college, the dean of admission commented We
would have wondered about the judgment of someone who spends their time on their mobile phone
and makes such awful remarks, . This is just one example of a student damaging her future by not
knowing when to not post or knowing what to

Effects Of Lower Oil Prices On Canada s Economic Activity
Literature Review
Effects of Lower Oil Prices on Canada s Economic Activity
Consumer Price Index
Falling oil prices leads to a fall in the price of gasoline which is derived from oil. Subsequently,
consumption of gasoline rises as Canadians benefit from lower oil prices. In fact, The Conference
Board of Canada (Bernard 2015)estimates that the average household would save close to $1000 in
2015. This has a direct impact on the Canadian total CPI basket in which gasoline account for about
5% of total CPI (Bartlett 2014).
# (Bernard 2015) Although lower gasoline and consumer prices should help lift purchasing power and
sustain real household spending, it likely won t be enough to counter the trend of easing growth in
household spending in Canada. Soft employment growth, weak wage gains, the high level of
household debt, easing real estate markets, and the threat of job losses in oil rich provinces will
combine to take some of the steam out of real consumer spending in 2015 even as overall inflation
falls to just 1.2 per cent.
Terms of Trade (ratio of export prices to import prices) The value of the Canadian dollar tends to
moves in tandem with oil prices so as oil prices have been falling recently, so has the value of the
Canadian dollar. A depreciation of the Canadian dollar makes Canadian exports relatively more
competitive in the world market however, as Canadian exports become cheaper relative to its imports,
this negatively affects the Canadian terms of trade. This

Toilet Learning
When you are teaching Special Needs Kids to use the toilet, parents basically undressed them and sat
them in a potty stool for extended periods until they eliminated. Then often called toilet training, past
practices and past terms have been updated. Research has shown that seeing the kid as an active player
makes the toileting technique more enjoyable. Therefore, a more appropriate name for the technique is
toilet mastery or toilet learning. Toilet learning is a developmental technique in which a kid learns to
make use of the toilet appropriately. As in lots of areas of kid development, kids must reach a positive
age or be in the proper setting or situation before they are prepared to learn. Kids are prepared to learn
when they are healthy, well nourished, and not pressured to accomplish at a level above their
capability. Toilet learning usually is initiated in early childhood, which in itself can be a challenging
period. At this time, kids are becoming independent and parents are trying to balance helping the kid
with allowing independence. With encouragement, kids can give parents clues about their toilet
readiness. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Essay on UFO s and whether or not they are real; includes...
UFOs: Are They Real?
UFOs have been one of the greatest mysteries of all times. From the beginning of time humans have
seen UFOs. The real mystery is whether or not a UFO is a ship from another planet. There have been
numerous reports of flying saucers. Many of them have been able to be explained and some were even
elaborate hoaxes. But still, there are a few out there that are unexplainable and could quiet possibly be
visitors from somewhere else in the universe. Even the government has admitted after long studies
that some of the reported cases seem to lean towards extraterrestrials. UFO stands for unidentified
flying object. Therefore the facts clearly show that UFOs are real.
The most famous of all the sightings was the Roswell ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The next morning a team of Royal Air Force scientists were sent to the site. They found three holes in
the ground in a perfect equilateral triangle and in the middle was a piece of scorched earth. There was
also a line on all the nearby trees about 4 feet off the ground (Kettelkamp 19). The scientists used a
Geiger counter and found extremely high radiation readings from the site. The next night the object
appeared again in a nearby field. When investigated the site was similar to the one from the previous
night. The official report stated that the object that showed up on the radar and was later seen in
Rendlesham Forest could not be identified (Kettelkamp 24).
Sightings of UFOs have not been limited to just on Earth. There have also been many sightings by
astronauts in space. Gemini 7 photographed what appeared to be two flying saucers. Apollo 8 may
have photographed what was a giant spaceship near the moon. On their next orbit the object had
disappeared. Apollo 11 may have also spotted a UFO near the moon. Possibly the most famous and
mysterious sighting is the picture taken by the Viking satellite. The photo shows what looks to be a
giant face on Mars. The face looks remarkably similar to the face on the Sphinx in Egypt. Some
believe it could be a giant monument from an alien race that once lived on Mars (Kettelkamp 7).
Photographic analysis could not identify any of the reported objects.

The Stone Age Poem
The poetess realistically depicts the burdens of domestic life, sickness, her ageing and decaying of
body, and the anticipation of death in the final passage: I shall be the fat kneed hag in the long queue
The one from whose shopping bag the mean potato must Roll across the road. I shall be the patient On
the hospital bed, lying in drugged slum And dreaming of home. I shall be the grandmother Willing
away her belongings, those scraps and trinkets More lasting than her bones. Perhaps some womb in
that Darker world shall convulse, when I finally enter, A legitimate entrant, marked by discontent.
(Gino) The Stone Age, one of the finest poems in this anthology, strongly expresses the note of
rebellion against male domination. The wife resents the restraints imposed on her. The husband who is
described as an Old fat spider weaves webs of bewilderment around her and confines her within the
four walls of domesticity. She painfully complains. You turn me into a bird of stone, a granite Dove,
you build round me a shabby drawing room, And stroke my pitted face absent mindedly while you
read. She dislikes him as other men haunt her mind. Yet, as day dreams, strong men cast their
shadows, they sink Like white suns in the swell of my Dravidian blood. (The Stone Age)
In the absence of the husband she knocks at another s door. She asserts her individuality and
challenges domesticity. A note of rebellion and defiance is strongly expressed in this poem.

How The Artist Is Present By Marina Abramovic
There are many things that can be said about Marina Abramovic s works, particularly her MOMA
performance The Artist Is Present , but I think that everyone would agree they are if anything
compelling. The film that we viewed, centered around that ambitious performance, allowed us to get a
sense of Marina, from her early years as a rather unknown Yugoslavian artist, her relationship with
Ulay that had the biggest impact on her as artist and a person, to the late years of her career in which
she found fame. The performance at MOMA was one of the most interesting works I ve ever
witnessed. In addition to having her admirers as mere viewers of her work, she found a way to engage
with them in a very intense and profound way. I felt that the performance ... Show more content on

The end of that relationship allowed Marina to flourish in her life and work. She found an interest in
fashion, grew her hair long and started doing theater pieces. She became a widely known artist, a
celebrity. The piece they did together in The Great Wall of China was also a confrontation. She was
able to express her inability to endure Ulay s unfaithfulness by letting him go, even when it was clear
that she still loved him. This brings me to the other film that we viewed, Cutie and the Boxer. This
film also revolves around a relationship that tests a woman s endurance of a man who has brought her
so much distress. While Marina adopts endurance as art, Cutie lives her personal life in a state of
endurance. Cutie and the Boxer is the bittersweet story of a genius artist who has long lived under the
shadow of her husband, finally finding her own voice through her art. I m both mesmerized and
saddened by the things she had to go through in her life. Cutie had to put her own ambitions on hold
as she tried to make her relationship with Bullie work, while also raising a son on her own. But as she
mentioned herself, the events of her life and the hardships she had to overcome made her become the
artist she is today. And that s why her story is so bittersweet. At least we know at the end that, with all
that she had endured, she has grown so much as a person over the years. She s finally taking full
control of her life and being her own

The Use Of Companionship In John Steinbeck s Of Mice And Men
In the novel of Mice and Men, John Steinbeck uses multiple characters to show how companionship is
valuable in rough times. The author places the setting during the Dust Bowl and Great Depression.
The Dust Bowl was a time of intense hardship and caused many people to lose hope. In the book,
George and Lennie are ranch hands. They have been through, and taken care of each other in the
rough times throughout the dustbowl. Steinbeck uses multiple unique characters to prove that people
should learn how much companionship is valuable in rough times. Steinbeck uses Lennie prove that
companionship is valuable in rough times by showing how George helps Lennie. Lennie and all of the

Over the past weeks I have been adding sounds to a moving image clip. Research of the science
behind sound and of professional sound recordist would be key, anything from microphone techniques
to personal safety would need to be taken into account on the recording side, whereas an
understanding of the software and tools within it would be needed for the sequencing.
Throughout history sound has been used to help convey a story. As early as the 1900 s, without today s

Dialog was the first sound recorded, there was quite a lot of dialog involved and it would need to be
recorded at the right level as it will be the loudest part of the sequence. When recording vocals I set up
the microphone appropriately, this meant positioning the microphone at roughly the same height as my
chin. The microphone also needed to be close to my mouth, if I was too far away it wouldn t be loud
enough meaning the volume would have to be amplified which would also amplify all the unwanted
noises around. A pop filter was also used, I simply moved it into the correct position before saying my
lines. A pop filter is used to stop the popping noise that can be accompanied by saying certain letters
such as p. Once the microphone was set up the lines were recorded, this was helped by having a TV
playing the video so I could get my timings perfected. One issue that did occur was putting the
emotion into certain sections, I found this hard at first as the recordings came out stale with no feeling.
To fix this I redid the dialog a few times and tried to treat it more as acting than speaking. The final
sections of dialog came out much better than the previous but there is still clear room for improvement

The Causes Of The Cuban Missile Crisis
The Cuban Missile Crisis In the fall of 1962, the world sat on edge for thirteen days as the prospect of
a nuclear war between the United States and The Soviet Union became more and more legitimate. In
October of 1962, an American spy plane discovered nuclear missile launch sites being built by the
Soviet Union in Cuba, which rests only ninety miles south of Florida. The US went on to impose a

The Stamp Act Analysis
Hello, Your Majesty. We think highly of you and never would want to question your rules and laws,
but just to add suggestions and a different point of view from the receiver.
We, my family and friends, have written to you today to show our concerns and point of view of the
new laws and acts and to hopefully give you a broader outlook of this struggling situation.
The first act would be the Quartering Act. This act is where we, as the colonists, have to provide food,
shelter, and bed for your soldiers and if the British soldiers do not have enough houses they have to
stay in barns, buildings, and inns, which leads to the fact that almost every home is filled with
soldiers. Sometimes we can feel a little over powered and we feel that they should ... Show more

the laws were that the Boston Port was closed until we paid for all of the tea, the governor could ban
town meetings, and the quartering act. We realize that we have done wrong, but we are concerned
because there are people out there who want to fight and want no peace, so that we can have

Advertisement Of A Mcdonald s Advertisement
We see advertisements and commercials all the time in our daily lives. Sometimes, though, more often
than not, we over look things that might be presented to us, without even realizing it. A McDonald s
advertisement is something everyone is familiar with. Whether we are ignoring the subtleties that are
hidden in the advertisements message, or we are paying attention to the tricks that are being used to
draw us in, McDonalds knows how to make an effective ad.
At the beginning of the McDonald s ad we see the front yard of a little girl s house as her mother does
yard work in the background. As the little girl sits on the sidewalk steps, we find that she has a grey
cloud hovering over her head. We hear a piano jingle from the beginning of the commercial as it
zooms in to show the glum look on her face when she looks up at the cloud. Trying to scoot out from
underneath the cloud she realizes it doesn t work because the cloud follows her. Even blowing at it
doesn t work. Instantly Ronald McDonald walks up and says, hi there (McDonalds). Her face lights up
just long enough to say hi back. He looks at the cloud and kneels down to her level. He mentions her
day is going bad and with a sad look she replies, I ll say (McDonalds). After he tells her it could be
worse, the cloud begins to rain on her. With sarcasm she then says, Awesome (McDonalds). This is
when the piano jingle changes from instrumental to spoken words. Ronald then reaches up and grabs

We Real Cool Analysis
Poetry is comprised of many forms and within each form, poets have created; stanzas, rhythm, images,
symbolism, meter and meanings. Readers must read each poem and begin inductive reasoning to
understand what is written. In using this reasoning, only then can the poem be explained. There are
many different types of forms and a ballad is one of these poetic forms. It is usually made up of a
basic construction of quatrain stanzas. The lines contain rhyme, and generally tell a story that can be
compared to a song. In analyzing, Peter and John by Elinor Wylie, We Real Cool by Gwendolyn
Brooks, Riverbanks Blues by Sterling A. Brown and The Cherry tree Carol, author unknown,

Brown, Brown uses the typical quatrain stanza to create a song like poem one could imagine singing
while traveling down a river, Little Muddy, Big Muddy, Moreau and Osage, /Little Mary s, Big Mary

and git him weak (Strand and Boland 94). The words he chose roll off your tongue as they are spoken,
and are symbolic of the water as it moves. Each stanza grows more musical as the poem goes on, like
the start of a trip in a ferry on a river slow to start then smooth as it goes down.
Then there is the poem, The Cherry tree Carol, author unknown. This poem s story retells the
Christmas Journey to Bethlehem from Luke 2:4 5 through the death of Jesus (Leith). This ballad uses
the typical quatrain stanza to create this story. Each stanza takes us through the walk of Christ, from
birth to death using only Mary and Joseph s names in each stanza. Then Mary took her Babe/And sat

I m Not a Leader
What s the best thing going on at school today, Eli? My mom asked as she poured her coffee. My
mom always asks happy questions like that in the morning. I think she learned it in Mom school or
something.
When I was little, I made up all sorts of stories to tell my mom. I d pretend Lindsey rode a giraffe to
school, or Sebastian taught us how to eat worms. Then my mom and I would snuggle and giggle.
But now that I m in the 3rd grade, I m too old for that stuff. Still, it s best to tell her something and
send her off to work happy.
Miss Jennings is announcing who s in the running for class President today. It s really not a big deal I
shared.
Oh? That is exciting! She pulled up a chair and looked at me with her big tell me all about it eyes. I
should have just told her we were having pizza for lunch.
Do you think they ll choose you? I could see she was already thinking about calling Grandma with the
news.
No way, I said. Mom, I m not a leader. The class could pick anyone. Why would they pick me?
Mom looked at me like she didn t believe me but all she said was, We ll see.
At school, written on the board in purple chalk were the scariest words I ve ever seen:
Congratulations Eli, Mason, Megan, Ben and Janelle! You have been nominated for Class President!
Most of the kids cheered as they walked into the classroom. Mason just stared at me. I felt sick.

The Border Between Mexico And United States Essay
Introduction The United States has led the fight against criminal activities from Mexican borders for
many years. Criminal activities along the United States and Mexican border range from drug
trafficking, human smuggling and an economy that disruptive. These are illegal activities scholars
have argued could lead to the failure of Mexico as a country and the spread of violence to the United
States. The illegal activities are not only a threat to the economy of Mexico and United States but also
to the rest of the world due the impacts associated. The border between Mexico and US is of essential
significance because it provides the link between the two countries. The border provides passageways
through which either country can access the other via land or air means. Although the border is of
significance to both countries, smuggling of drugs and trafficking human are main causes of violence
between the countries. Drug cartels in Mexico smuggle drugs into the United States and this drives a
war between them and the US government. The economy and the peace between Mexico and US is
also affected significantly due to the illegal activities. To minimize the violence caused by these illegal
activities, the US government need to act against the activities. The United States needs to increase the
economic aid and military intervention to Mexico to fight the drug cartels, otherwise it could become
a failed state; spreading more violence across the US border. According to Basmajian,

Essences Of The Groundwork
This problem became the one of essences of the Groundwork,As Thomas hills argues that Kant s
aims in the groundwork are not primarily to illustrate how to apply his formulas to particular
problems, but to the basic presuppositions of practical reason, or to transform his research weight from
first critique to second critique. Since the question on emptiness charge must be taken on more
practical responses, it seems to me Kant has undoubtedly realized this and attempted to mingle the
theoretical and practical issues in Groundwork. For example in order to disentangle practical and
transcendental freedom, Kant introduces another doctrine in the third section of Groundwork. This
doctrine is essentially the same as one finds in the First Critique: ... Show more content on

Perhaps such absence is for some purpose. Considering that Kant s initial concern is to clarify the
problems of freedom rather than the particularities of the moral law, perhaps, given the synthesis of
the three formulations in the second section of the Groundwork, Kant might consider it unnecessary to
modify CI yet again. By the time of the Second Critique, he engages in a rather careful explication of
the moral law in which he does not offer a clear definition of the moral law, since it appears that
providing the theoretical ground for the moral law is

The Genesis of Feminism in Literature
Feminism is a theory that all sexes should have political, economic, and social equality. Hawthorne
was a writer during the Romantic Era in literature; one of the many individuals fired by their ideals
sought to tell the world about them through their works (e.g. art, literature, music). Hawthorne was
raised by his spouseless mother, which probably led him to believe women could be equal to men.
Hawthorne grew up with his mother became overly protective and pushed him toward relatively
isolated pursuits (Grade Saver 1). Whilst Hawthorne s single mother life prospered, his odium for the
belief of Puritanism started when he learned his association to Judge John Hawthorne, one of the
judges who oversaw the Salem witch trails. Hawthorne ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Reading Reflection
Introduction Of all the topics covered thus far in my coursework at National University, I found the
readings in differentiated education to be of the greatest practical value. This is because I teach middle
school in a school where learning disabled students are included in regular classes. In my classroom, I
employ various Google products (Docs, Slides, Sheets, Forms, Classroom, and associated add ons
including Easy Bib, Speech Recognition, Select and Speak, etc). I also use SeeSaw (where students
create digital journals) and Adobe Spark (which allows students to make educational videos) to help
me with differentiation. Through trial and error, I have found these technological products invaluable
as assistants for teaching learning disabled (and gifted) students. The material in this unit gives me the
theoretical understanding and guidance I need to better differentiate instruction across the curriculum,
with or without the use of technology.
The Iris Center Readings In my Language Arts and History classes, there are predictable groups of
students who finish tasks early or late, while the bulk of the students finish at the same rate. For the
most part, the early finishers are gifted students who are hungry for a challenge which goes beyond
the regular assignment. Many of my slow finishers are also learning disabled; they often struggle with
reading comprehension and/or writing. The Iris reading s discussion of flexible groupings, where

Stock Options Introduction
When considering saving for the future, many people look into opportunities such as Roth IRAs and

in stocks, indices, and other securities can substantially build a savvy investor s portfolio. For those
who are willing to brave the waters of loss and gain in order to accrue income, options can seem like a
foreign language. Among the various myths that options trading is either fraught with pit holes or risk

This can be accomplished by using stock options to purchase an underlying asset.
So what exactly are stock options? The investment education website Investopedia perhaps defines it
best, stating, An option is a contract that gives the buyer the right, but not the obligation, to buy or sell
an underlying asset at a specific price on or before a certain date. An option, just like a stock or bond,
is a security. It is also a binding contract with strictly defined terms and properties (Investopedia Staff,
Options Basics) . Despite its many stipulations, options trading is much simpler than the definition
conveys. In short, options trading does just what the name suggests: it gives the trader options so that
he or she can potentially incur minimal loss in the event that an investment does not prove fruitful.
Here is an example of options trading: Say a trader decides to purchase the stock for a new phone
application that will allow users to order groceries while in transit. The trader may speculate that the
value of the security is about to skyrocket due to the recent shutdown of similar applications and their
companies. The buyer approaches a seller, who informs the investor that the security costs $2000.
However, the investor isn t sure of his prediction and so decides to buy the asset as an option for

Funeral Of The Roman Empire
Funerals in Ancient Rome were as they are in most modern cultures, important. Those of nobles and
aristocrats were particularly lavish and attended by many. Generally, Roman funerals consisted of the
procession, cremation or burial and eulogy. Julius Caesar, dictator during the first century of the
Rome, whose actions lead to the fall of the Roman Republic and in turn, the rise of the Roman
Empire. Plutarch, a Greek historian, wrote about Caesar and noted that one of his first inclination that
the people of Rome saw him as a fit leader, was during a funeral. as nephew of Julia the deceased wife
of Marius, he pronounced a splendid encomium upon her in the forum, and in her funeral procession
ventured to display images of Marius, which were then seen for the first time since the administration
of Sulla, because Marius and his friends had been pronounced public enemies. When, namely, some
cried out against Caesar for this procedure, the people answered them with loud shouts, received
Caesar with applause, and admired him for bringing back after so long a time, as it were from Hades,
the honours of Marius into the city.
Caesar performed a eulogy for his deceased aunt during a time when women didn t receive eulogies,
only men. Funerals in ancient Rome were ostentatious and over the top, they are also where Caesar
gained followers.
Proper burial was essential to Romans to ensure malicious spirits did not rise from the underworld.

Similarities Between Wordsworth And Muir
Two talented literary authors William Wordsworth and John Muir express their emotions towards
through their writing; their belletristic stories depict how their experiences with nature positively
impacted their lives while giving them constant memories that will stay with them forever. Both
Wordsworth and Muir used syntax and diction to verbalize their passionate relationship towards
nature.
In I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud William Wordsworth writes of a lonely day while out for a walk;
until he stumbles across a bed of beautiful golden daffodils dancing in the breeze.
Wordsworth writes: A poet could not be but gay, in such a jocund company (stanza 3). In this passage,
Wordsworth uses words like jocund, and gay to express the joy he felt when he found the beautiful

Muir fills with excitement from his discovery; he describes the joy he felt over calypso in the
following quote: It seemed the most spiritual of all the flower people I had ever met. I sat down beside
it and fairly cried for joy . In this passage, Muir used words like spiritual to explain Calypso s beauty
and used the phrase fairly cried for joy to express what great happiness they had flower brought to
him.
After reading and analyzing Wordsworth s poem and Muir s essay, I can see that both men use writing
as a creative way to express their love for nature all around them.
In Wordsworth s poem, he used syntax and diction to show how the flowers changed his once
depressed lonely mood to positive and grateful. While in Muir s essay, he also uses diction to tell his
story of finding calypso and his overwhelming sense of happiness when he finally sat by the beautiful
flower.
In conclusion, both John Muir s and William Wordsworth s stories depict nature in different ways, but
it s their shared love for writing and appreciation for nature that makes them one and the same with

Lycidas Poem Analysis
The Crisis of Lycidas Absent Body
Lycidas is a pastoral elegy in which the speaker, a shepherd, mourns the death of his friend Lycidas, a
fellow shepherd and talented poet, who had drowned at sea. However, as the poem progresses, the
figure of Lycidas fades into the background as the writing of the poem becomes overwhelmed by the
various crises that the speaker experiences and other poetic voices those of Phoebus and St. Peter, for
instance interrupt. The ninth verse paragraph of Lycidas marks the poem s return to its elegiac intent
as the speaker experiences another crisis in which he laments Lycidas absent body, a recurring element
which, when addressed by the speaker directly, allows the speaker to properly mourn and accept
Lycidas death.
The ninth verse paragraph begins with a plea, Return, Alpheus (132), Alpheus being a river in Arcadia
whose waters mix with the fountain Arethuse, referenced earlier in the poem to represent Greek
pastoral poetry. The speaker persuades Alpheus to return by stating that the dread voice is past (132)
the dread voice being St. Peter, who in the previous verse paragraph interrupted the speaker s voice
with a vicious condemnation of shepherds. The verse paragraph before was taken over by Neptune s
herald, and the one before by Phoebus. As the poem progresses, it begins to move away from Lycidas
to the point that the ninth verse paragraph is the first one since the fifth that mentions Lycidas, or
Lycid (151), by name. By calling on Alpheus and the Sicilian Muse (133), the speaker recognizes that
the elegy has veered from its original intent and he wishes to return to it.
The speaker first does this by invoking the Sicilian Muse to call the vales (134) to gather a plants and
flowers to adorn Lycidas dead body. The speaker specifically calls for primrose, crowtoe, jessamine,
pansies, violets, woodbine, cowslips, amaranthus, daffodils, and laurels. (142 47,149 150)The laurels
are significant as an emblem of poetry and its presence on Lycidas hearse (151) praises him for his
poetry, but there is a sense of sadness and grief embedded within the floral imagery. When the speaker
mentions the rathe primrose (142), a flower that blooms early

The Assemblies of God is one of the largest Pentecostal denominations, with 57 million adherents
worldwide. It was organized in 1914 to promote unity and doctrinal stability among groups that had
been influenced by the Pentecostal revivals of the early 1900s, revivals which were the result of a
desire to see an increase in God s power in churches and individuals. Many people spent long hours in

impact other primary areas of the infrastructure, including telecommunications, water, oil and gas
systems. The purpose of this paper is to elaborate on the issues surrounding SCADA systems and its
vulnerabilities. Within this will be previous SCADA attacks against critical infrastructures,
recommended solutions for prevention and risk assessment regarding power grids.
Vulnerabilities of SCADA Systems
The potential for such attacks has risen sharply in recent years as many SCADA systems, including
those at some very large public power companies, are increasingly integrated with networks with
direct links to the Internet. (Vijayan, 2010) It was stated by the Wall Street Journal that cyber spies in
Russia, China and other countries had already taken advantage of such vulnerabilities to deeply
penetrate the U.S electrical grid. This issue is not just a current problem but will continue to escalate
in the future going forward along with advances in new technologies. Thus the security for SCADA
systems can no longer rely on obscurity or on being a function of locking down a system. These
attacks can disrupt and damage critical infrastructural operations, cause major economic

Spartan Women vs Athenian Women
Most people think of ancient Athens as the city of freedom and democracy, while they think of Sparta
as a highly restricted society. The schools teach us that modern democracies are modeled on Athens,
while military dictatorships are modeled on Sparta. However, history shows us that women had much
more liberty in Sparta than in Athens. In fact, the democracy of Athens was available only to free men
who were citizens of Athens. Moreover, to claim citizenship, an Athenian had to prove that both his
parents were astoi. For the father, being astos meant that he was an Athenian citizen, but the mother
could not be a citizen. Women were never citizens, but only able to transmit the rights of citizenship to
their sons (Perry, et al, 1992, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The social standing of the Hetaerae was at best at the level of prostitutes, and the level of power they
achieved was only slightly significant (Cantarella Lefkowitz, 1987, pp. 49 50).
Status of Spartan Women in Society
Life in Sparta was oriented around the state. The individual lived and died for the state. Their lives
were designed to serve the state from their beginning to the age of sixty. Ironically, this soldier
centered state was the most liberal state with regard to the status of women.
Education
Women did not go through military training, but they were required to be educated in a similar
manner. The Spartans were the only Greeks who took seriously the education of women and also
established it as state policy. This was not an academic education for the women or the men. It was a
physical education that could be demanding. Infant girls were also exposed to die if they were judged
to be weak. The children were given physical and gymnastics training. They were also taught that their
lives should be dedicated to the state (Cantarella Lefkowitz, 1987, pp. 42 43).
In most Greek states, women were required to stay indoors at all times, although only the upper
classes could afford to observe this custom. Spartan women, on the other hand, were free to move
about, and had an unusual amount of

Explorers And Voyagers Written Presentation
Explorers and Voyagers Written Presentation:
William of Rubruck was a Flemish and Franciscan missionary and more importantly, a explorer.
Following the orders of King Louis IX of France, Rubruck set out on mission to convert the Tartars of
the Mongol Empire to Christianity, and also to report back on the cultural customs of the empire. His
orders were not unlike other contemporary diplomatic missions of the time, Rubruck s predecessors,
Andre de Longjumeau and Giovanni da Pian del Carpine also followed similar instructions from Louis
IX. Rubruck s reports of his travels to and within the Mongolian Empire are unparalleled on detail and
acute observations. With such details of markets, temples and the separate quarters for Muslim and
Chinese craftsman included. Rubruck s seminal work, The Journey Of William Of Rubruck To The
Eastern Parts Of The World, is renowned for its writing style more inline with a personal memoir,
rather than an officially chartered account. The Journey employs the technique of classical comparison
in order to help its readers understand the events in the court of the great Khans at Karakorum.
However, despite the great achievements in his work, Rubruck is far less a figure of study in modern
day academic study. But this should not be the case. Comparison with his contemporaries and
analysing historiographical trends, is going to prove the Rubruck is far a more reliable source than that
of Longjumeau, Carpine and Marco Polo, and should be treated as

Centennial Catalyst Newspaper Analysis
Media newsprint specifically, is not merely words on a piece of paper. The same way that books are
more than letters scrambled on a page, newspapers are more than just the articles on them. Even
locally, there is a distinct connection between democracy and the media. The Centennial Catalyst,
Centennial Secondary School s newspaper was created in 1966 and up until 2014, it was the
independent voice of the students. That was before it was cancelled. A combination of a lack of
students to contribute and budget cuts, the newspaper found itself discontinued; then the 2015 school
year came along. This new year brought along new money and new students and therefore the
reinvigoration of the Catalyst. This was my first experience with the newspaper, ... Show more content

Democracy in media, this is the topic of this essay, but before I get to that I m going to spoil the
ending. At the beginning of the current school year, the Catalyst had been cancelled again, no one had
fought for it, no one wanted it, and no one respected it. The blood sweat and tears that half dozen
students and I poured into this publication had been pushed over into the pile of reject courses our
school would no longer carry. There is no guarantee that Centennial will ever have a newspaper again
and that any other future student will get to read or write an article on from the Catalyst. Democracy.
The Meridian Webster Dictionary defines this word as meaning, government by the people. At the
same time as I was writing for the Catalyst, I was also fighting a battle for democracy in our student
government. VOX, meaning voice in Latin, was the original name for the student government at
Centennial. For the 2015 school year, everything changed, the election system formerly used was now
gone. The power to choose representatives was taken away from the students and put into the hands of
our schools socials department. The name was also changed from VOX to Student Council, they could
no longer call themselves VOX

Differences Between Conventional And Organic Farming...
The Differences between Conventional and Organic Farming Practices
A controversial topic in the agriculture industry today falls within various types of farming practices.
As well as the procedures that are conducted on a daily basis in each type. For this analytical report, I
will focus on the differences between conventional and organic farming practices. Both practices have
multiple differences but face the same goal feeding people. By the year of 2050, farmers are expected
to feed around 9 billion people. The main debate in organic farming falls with the ability to compete
with conventional farming. Conventional farming also poses a risk with competing with organic
farming with the fact that some practices can be deemed unsafe within conventional practices.
However, this report is to take an outlook on both practices to see not just the differences between the
two, but how both can contribute to modern agriculture. Though there may be some differences in the
two, both strive for the same common goal.
The purpose of this analytical report is to illustrate the differences in the conventional and organic
farming procedures and how they both contribute in to agriculture in terms of production. The report
will focus on each of the practices and data enquiry for both on a global level. For one, I will focus on
what is contained in the soil in organic and conventional practices. Next, we will focus on the in field
application and costs involved in each. Lastly, I will convey

The Power and Glory of Jesus Christ
There is very exciting news in the world at this time, Jesus, the Son of God, has risen and he is here to
do many more things for humanity. Our savior has defeated death and with his victory has saved even
more men than before. There is a true feeling in the air these days and it is one of gratitude, for we
shall all be thankful that he has come back to life to finish his work on earth. Christ will continue to do
countless things in the lives of people and his message is extremely powerful even today, and will
forever be the saving grace that allows people to enter the Kingdom of God and rest in eternal life.
Jesus has been at work in my life and in the lives of loved ones and continues to help our society grow
and become better. Everyone in my family has been affected by Jesus resurrection and most of the
people in the world have also been affected. Jesus saved my cousin who had unfortunately been
diagnosed with stage four lung cancer and the doctors announced that there was zero percent chance
of survival. He decided to leave the hospital because they said there was nothing they could do for
him, he then went to a church and prayed for three days straight and when he went back to the hospital
they had found that the cancer had actually reduced from there last scan and had moved down to a
stage three. Two weeks later he decided to go back and see how he was doing and they told him that
the cancer was gone. I truly believe that this was a miracle by God and it shows the

Similarities Between Headmaster And Frederick Douglass
Struggling with Slavery: Life of Frederick Douglass vs. Roots
Kunta Kinte and Frederick Douglass with extremely contrasting backgrounds, resulting in different
lives down the road. Although they are not very similar in results or background they are both
explaining how slavery worked and why it was wrong for people to have slaves. Frederick Douglass
had a privileged life because he was a house boy, but Kunta as a field hand did not have many
privileges. For example, because Frederick Douglass was a house boy he got better clothing, food and
shelter than Kunta who had rags as clothes and very little food. On a completely different note, the
gist of both stories include facts about the harsh punishments created by the slaves masters even for ...

On one hand, Frederick was born a slave in America and raised as a Christian on a plantation without
knowledge of his family. Douglass stated, I was born in Tuckahoe, near Hillsborough, and about
twelve miles from Easton in Talbot county, Maryland (Douglass, 1). This piece of evidence is showing
where he is from and where his journey began. But on the other hand, Kunta was born free in Africa
within his Mandinka village of Juffure, he was raised learning the muslim faith living off the Gambia
River and he knew his family. At the beginning of the movie they had shown Kunta Kinte in his
Mandinka village going through man training, this also showed his family which tells you that he
knew where he was from and the people surrounding him. Furthermore, Kunta had to cross the
Atlantic Ocean and go through all the stages of becoming a slave and Frederick Douglass was just
born into slavery. As a matter of fact the movie showed the journey for Kunta and how tough it was
for him while the book portrayed a subtle more laid back city slave lifestyle. Also, in the movie Kunta
had fiddler to rely on and to act as a best friend but in the book it did not speak of any friends for
Frederick Douglass. This was probably because he felt he was higher up than the other slaves and he
even made them feel inferior or it is simply because nobody wanted to be associated with a troubled

A Summary Of La Ville Lumiere
La Ville Lumiere
The dark specter of the cool night spread across the sky, while the alluring orange color of the sunset
disappeared as nonchalantly as it came. A mixed medley of harmonious sounds streamed through the
night from the violins. Music echoed from every street corner, awakening life, springing off the Eiffel
Tower to Notre Dame and floating through the Arc de Triomphe. Soon, the people, scattered like trees
in a desolate country, grew into a huge crowd like a lush green woodland. Noises of people shrilling,
teenagers laughing and adults murmuring transpired from the crowd. The lads held their demoiselles
hands lost in their world of immortal love. Eventually, everyone slipped into their dancing shoes. The
aromas rose from the hot sizzling gourmet cuisine and cigarette smoke to quickly permeate the air.
The streets shone with dazzling lights as bright as daytime, as the astounding Eiffel Tower took form
in its enticing and glowing festive lights of amber, standing in its own elegance, like a gem on Champ
de Mars. La Ville Lumiere... here it is; Paris, the splendid metropolis, the home of the lovers and the
city that speaks the language of love.
Paris is the capital metropolis of France and an absolute destination that strikes everyone s minds
when they talk about France. There is no one who could tread the streets of Paris and not feel
incredibly alive. The visit there is worth it, for what one experiences can t be conveyed through
words! There is a player on

Rise Of Christianity Essay
Christianity began way back when during the reign of Tiberius, lasting from 14 C.E to 37 C.E. During
this time, a man by the name of Jesus began his teachings and Christianity was born. It was a religion
created by the mass number of followers that Jesus procured through his teachings, the people who
held onto every single of his words. During this time, there was much war and many civil wars
throughout the Roman Empire which had erupted into mass chaos. Zealots were encouraging armed
rebellion and it was then that Christians, or self proclaimed people of this new belief or religion,
believed in what they deemed the Messiah, who according to text, would destroy Roman legions and
bring times of happiness to the world around them (McKay, 168). Paganism was another type of
religion that began around this time as well, for the people who practiced religions outside the well
received Judaism and Christianity. What would be known as synchronistic religions blended together
both Roman and indigenous deities. Statues, temples, and monuments were all built or constructed due
to this belief and there was an ideal that existed in which there was believed to be life after death
(McKay, 168). Jesus played a vital role to Christianity during this time, especially where the Roman
Empire was concerned. According to text, he was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This would evolve into how we see Christianity today. Another man, Paul of Tarsus, played a very
important role in the finding and developing of Christianity. As Paul felt a part of both the Romans
and the Jews, he would write letters of advice to all of those who came to him. The Roman Empire
could spread its belief and power quickly. The empire in their minds was also universal and so
Christians combined the ideas of Universalism (McKay,

 • 4. India s Fields Of Rai Block Of Sonepat District ABSTRACT A study was conducted in farmers fields of Rai block of Sonepat district, Haryana, India to study the long term impact of two widely adopted resource conservation technologies (RCT s) namely bed planting and zero tillage on structural properties of soils of recent alluvial plains of the river Yamuna. Aggregate mean weight diameter by dry sieving and wet sieving (DS MWD and WS MWD) under different RCT s were studied to compare structural condition of the soils under continuous use of these technologies. Other important structural indices such as dispersion ratio (a measure of ease of dispersion; DR), colloid moisture equivalent ration (a measure of ease of percolation; CMER), erosion ratio (ER), stability index (SI), soil organic carbon (SOC), clay ratio (CR) were also studied to monitor the susceptibility of soil to erosion in the study area. Results revealed that in the surveyed villages under conventional tillage (CT), the mean (of 6 samples) magnitude of DR and ER were 0.58 and 0.82, respectively, and CMER was 1, which indicated the erodible nature of these soils. Analysis of data of bed and conventional systems revealed that on an average, there was about 19.08 % increase in SOC in bed planted system compared to conventional system. The decrease of DR, ER and CR from 0.66, 0.52 and 4.25 under CT to 0.42, 0.28 and 2.38 under beds indicated reduced eroding tendency of these soils under bed planting. Indeed, she didn t even thank her own Cabinet member for the work or rather mention him at all throughout the whole speech. Moreover, during a press release, another confusion arrose the release itself claimed that there is a significant degree of mistrust while the Chancellor s words stated just the opposite. So what next, when will the bomb explode? Not only does the child get something out of it, but the parent learns how to encourage their child while they control their competitive urge, and they tend to set goals for the child that way they can strive to succeed in whatever thy are doing. Not only does it have the potential to build a strong relationship with a parent or guardian but it also can help you feel better about yourself. It gives you a drive to become healthy, boost you confidence, helps your self esteem, and also motivates you and develops a sense of discipline. Also a big factor it helps reduce depression and the feeling of sadness. Although people find many positives about playing organized sports, many people found negatives in the sports. One is the fact of it being too competitive. Once a child gets the idea of winning in their heads, or the idea that they might be better than an opposing player people get worried that it will go too much to their heads. Overview of Mobile Ad Hoc Networks A Mobile Ad Hoc Network (MANET) consists of a set of mobile hosts that carry out basic networking functions like packet forwarding, routing, and service discovery without the help of an established infrastructure [1]. Nodes of an ad hoc network rely on one another in forwarding a packet to its destination, due to the limited range of each mobile host s wireless transmissions. An ad hoc network uses no centralized administration. This ensures that the network will not cease functioning just because one of the mobile nodes moves out of the range of the others. Nodes should be able to enter and leave the network as they wish. Because of the limited transmitter range of the nodes, multiple hops are generally needed to reach other nodes. Every node in an ad hoc network must be willing to forward packets for other nodes. Thus, every node acts both as a host and as a router. The topology of ad hoc networks varies with time as nodes move, join or leave the network. This topological instability requires a routing protocol to run on each node to create and maintain routes among the nodes [21]. 1.1.1. Mobile Ad hoc Networks Usages Wireless ad hoc ... • 10. Effects Of Lower Oil Prices On Canada s Economic Activity Literature Review Effects of Lower Oil Prices on Canada s Economic Activity Consumer Price Index Falling oil prices leads to a fall in the price of gasoline which is derived from oil. Subsequently, consumption of gasoline rises as Canadians benefit from lower oil prices. In fact, The Conference Board of Canada (Bernard 2015)estimates that the average household would save close to $1000 in 2015. This has a direct impact on the Canadian total CPI basket in which gasoline account for about 5% of total CPI (Bartlett 2014). # (Bernard 2015) Although lower gasoline and consumer prices should help lift purchasing power and sustain real household spending, it likely won t be enough to counter the trend of easing growth in household spending in Canada. Soft employment growth, weak wage gains, the high level of household debt, easing real estate markets, and the threat of job losses in oil rich provinces will combine to take some of the steam out of real consumer spending in 2015 even as overall inflation falls to just 1.2 per cent. Terms of Trade (ratio of export prices to import prices) The value of the Canadian dollar tends to moves in tandem with oil prices so as oil prices have been falling recently, so has the value of the Canadian dollar. A depreciation of the Canadian dollar makes Canadian exports relatively more competitive in the world market however, as Canadian exports become cheaper relative to its imports, this negatively affects the Canadian terms of trade. The Stone Age Poem The poetess realistically depicts the burdens of domestic life, sickness, her ageing and decaying of body, and the anticipation of death in the final passage: I shall be the fat kneed hag in the long queue The one from whose shopping bag the mean potato must Roll across the road. I shall be the patient On the hospital bed, lying in drugged slum And dreaming of home. I shall be the grandmother Willing away her belongings, those scraps and trinkets More lasting than her bones. Perhaps some womb in that Darker world shall convulse, when I finally enter, A legitimate entrant, marked by discontent. (Gino) The Stone Age, one of the finest poems in this anthology, strongly expresses the note of rebellion against male domination. The wife resents the restraints imposed on her. The husband who is described as an Old fat spider weaves webs of bewilderment around her and confines her within the four walls of domesticity. She painfully complains. You turn me into a bird of stone, a granite Dove, you build round me a shabby drawing room, And stroke my pitted face absent mindedly while you read. She dislikes him as other men haunt her mind. Yet, as day dreams, strong men cast their shadows, they sink Like white suns in the swell of my Dravidian blood. (The Stone Age) In the absence of the husband she knocks at another s door. As the little girl sits on the sidewalk steps, we find that she has a grey cloud hovering over her head. We hear a piano jingle from the beginning of the commercial as it zooms in to show the glum look on her face when she looks up at the cloud. Trying to scoot out from underneath the cloud she realizes it doesn t work because the cloud follows her. Even blowing at it doesn t work. Instantly Ronald McDonald walks up and says, hi there (McDonalds). Her face lights up just long enough to say hi back. He looks at the cloud and kneels down to her level. He mentions her day is going bad and with a sad look she replies, I ll say (McDonalds). After he tells her it could be worse, the cloud begins to rain on her. With sarcasm she then says, Awesome (McDonalds). This is when the piano jingle changes from instrumental to spoken words. Ronald then reaches up and grabs the cloud as the words in ... Readers must read each poem and begin inductive reasoning to understand what is written. In using this reasoning, only then can the poem be explained. There are many different types of forms and a ballad is one of these poetic forms. It is usually made up of a basic construction of quatrain stanzas. The lines contain rhyme, and generally tell a story that can be compared to a song. In analyzing, Peter and John by Elinor Wylie, We Real Cool by Gwendolyn Brooks, Riverbanks Blues by Sterling A. Criminal activities along the United States and Mexican border range from drug trafficking, human smuggling and an economy that disruptive. These are illegal activities scholars have argued could lead to the failure of Mexico as a country and the spread of violence to the United States. The illegal activities are not only a threat to the economy of Mexico and United States but also to the rest of the world due the impacts associated. The border between Mexico and US is of essential significance because it provides the link between the two countries. The border provides passageways through which either country can access the other via land or air means. Although the border is of significance to both countries, smuggling of drugs and trafficking human are main causes of violence between the countries. Drug cartels in Mexico smuggle drugs into the United States and this drives a war between them and the US government. The economy and the peace between Mexico and US is also affected significantly due to the illegal activities. To minimize the violence caused by these illegal activities, the US government need to act against the activities. The United States needs to increase the economic aid and military intervention to Mexico to fight the drug cartels, otherwise it could become a failed state; spreading more violence across the US border. Reading Reflection Introduction Of all the topics covered thus far in my coursework at National University, I found the readings in differentiated education to be of the greatest practical value. This is because I teach middle school in a school where learning disabled students are included in regular classes. In my classroom, I employ various Google products (Docs, Slides, Sheets, Forms, Classroom, and associated add ons including Easy Bib, Speech Recognition, Select and Speak, etc). I also use SeeSaw (where students create digital journals) and Adobe Spark (which allows students to make educational videos) to help me with differentiation. Lycidas Poem Analysis The Crisis of Lycidas Absent Body Lycidas is a pastoral elegy in which the speaker, a shepherd, mourns the death of his friend Lycidas, a fellow shepherd and talented poet, who had drowned at sea. However, as the poem progresses, the figure of Lycidas fades into the background as the writing of the poem becomes overwhelmed by the various crises that the speaker experiences and other poetic voices those of Phoebus and St. Peter, for instance interrupt. The ninth verse paragraph of Lycidas marks the poem s return to its elegiac intent as the speaker experiences another crisis in which he laments Lycidas absent body, a recurring element which, when addressed by the speaker directly, allows the speaker to properly mourn and accept Lycidas death. The ninth verse paragraph begins with a plea, Return, Alpheus (132), Alpheus being a river in Arcadia whose waters mix with the fountain Arethuse, referenced earlier in the poem to represent Greek pastoral poetry. The speaker persuades Alpheus to return by stating that the dread voice is past (132) the dread voice being St. Peter, who in the previous verse paragraph interrupted the speaker s voice with a vicious condemnation of shepherds. The verse paragraph before was taken over by Neptune s herald, and the one before by Phoebus. As the poem progresses, it begins to move away from Lycidas to the point that the ninth verse paragraph is the first one since the fifth that mentions Lycidas, or Lycid (151), by name. By calling on Alpheus and the Sicilian Muse (133), the speaker recognizes that the elegy has veered from its original intent and he wishes to return to it. The speaker first does this by invoking the Sicilian Muse to call the vales (134) to gather a plants and flowers to adorn Lycidas dead body. The speaker specifically calls for primrose, crowtoe, jessamine, pansies, violets, woodbine, cowslips, amaranthus, daffodils, and laurels. (142 47,149 150)The laurels are significant as an emblem of poetry and its presence on Lycidas hearse (151) praises him for his poetry, but there is a sense of sadness and grief embedded within the floral imagery. Rubruck s seminal work, The Journey Of William Of Rubruck To The Eastern Parts Of The World, is renowned for its writing style more inline with a personal memoir, rather than an officially chartered account. The Journey employs the technique of classical comparison in order to help its readers understand the events in the court of the great Khans at Karakorum. However, despite the great achievements in his work, Rubruck is far less a figure of study in modern day academic study. But this should not be the case. Comparison with his contemporaries and analysing historiographical trends, is going to prove the Rubruck is far a more reliable source than that of Longjumeau, Carpine and Marco Polo, and should be treated as ... • 44. Centennial Catalyst Newspaper Analysis Media newsprint specifically, is not merely words on a piece of paper. The same way that books are more than letters scrambled on a page, newspapers are more than just the articles on them. Even locally, there is a distinct connection between democracy and the media. The Centennial Catalyst, Centennial Secondary School s newspaper was created in 1966 and up until 2014, it was the independent voice of the students. That was before it was cancelled. A combination of a lack of students to contribute and budget cuts, the newspaper found itself discontinued; then the 2015 school year came along. This new year brought along new money and new students and therefore the reinvigoration of the Catalyst. This was my first experience with the newspaper, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Democracy in media, this is the topic of this essay, but before I get to that I m going to spoil the ending. At the beginning of the current school year, the Catalyst had been cancelled again, no one had fought for it, no one wanted it, and no one respected it. The blood sweat and tears that half dozen students and I poured into this publication had been pushed over into the pile of reject courses our school would no longer carry. There is no guarantee that Centennial will ever have a newspaper again and that any other future student will get to read or write an article on from the Catalyst. Democracy. The Meridian Webster Dictionary defines this word as meaning, government by the people. At the same time as I was writing for the Catalyst, I was also fighting a battle for democracy in our student government. VOX, meaning voice in Latin, was the original name for the student government at Centennial. For the 2015 school year, everything changed, the election system formerly used was now gone. The power to choose representatives was taken away from the students and put into the hands of our schools socials department. The name was also changed from VOX to Student Council, they could no longer call themselves VOX ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

 • 49. Similarities Between Headmaster And Frederick Douglass Struggling with Slavery: Life of Frederick Douglass vs. Roots Kunta Kinte and Frederick Douglass with extremely contrasting backgrounds, resulting in different lives down the road. Although they are not very similar in results or background they are both explaining how slavery worked and why it was wrong for people to have slaves. Frederick Douglass had a privileged life because he was a house boy, but Kunta as a field hand did not have many privileges. For example, because Frederick Douglass was a house boy he got better clothing, food and shelter than Kunta who had rags as clothes and very little food. On a completely different note, the gist of both stories include facts about the harsh punishments created by the slaves masters even for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On one hand, Frederick was born a slave in America and raised as a Christian on a plantation without knowledge of his family. Douglass stated, I was born in Tuckahoe, near Hillsborough, and about twelve miles from Easton in Talbot county, Maryland (Douglass, 1). This piece of evidence is showing where he is from and where his journey began. But on the other hand, Kunta was born free in Africa within his Mandinka village of Juffure, he was raised learning the muslim faith living off the Gambia River and he knew his family. At the beginning of the movie they had shown Kunta Kinte in his Mandinka village going through man training, this also showed his family which tells you that he knew where he was from and the people surrounding him. Furthermore, Kunta had to cross the Atlantic Ocean and go through all the stages of becoming a slave and Frederick Douglass was just born into slavery. As a matter of fact the movie showed the journey for Kunta and how tough it was for him while the book portrayed a subtle more laid back city slave lifestyle. Also, in the movie Kunta had fiddler to rely on and to act as a best friend but in the book it did not speak of any friends for Frederick Douglass. This was probably because he felt he was higher up than the other slaves and he even made them feel inferior or it is simply because nobody wanted to be associated with a troubled ... Music echoed from every street corner, awakening life, springing off the Eiffel Tower to Notre Dame and floating through the Arc de Triomphe. Noises of people shrilling, teenagers laughing and adults murmuring transpired from the crowd. The lads held their demoiselles hands lost in their world of immortal love. Eventually, everyone slipped into their dancing shoes. The aromas rose from the hot sizzling gourmet cuisine and cigarette smoke to quickly permeate the air. • 51. Rise Of Christianity Essay Christianity began way back when during the reign of Tiberius, lasting from 14 C.E to 37 C.E. During this time, a man by the name of Jesus began his teachings and Christianity was born. It was a religion created by the mass number of followers that Jesus procured through his teachings, the people who held onto every single of his words. During this time, there was much war and many civil wars throughout the Roman Empire which had erupted into mass chaos. Zealots were encouraging armed rebellion and it was then that Christians, or self proclaimed people of this new belief or religion, believed in what they deemed the Messiah, who according to text, would destroy Roman legions and bring times of happiness to the world around them (McKay, 168). Paganism was another type of religion that began around this time as well, for the people who practiced religions outside the well received Judaism and Christianity. What would be known as synchronistic religions blended together both Roman and indigenous deities. Statues, temples, and monuments were all built or constructed due to this belief and there was an ideal that existed in which there was believed to be life after death (McKay, 168). Jesus played a vital role to Christianity during this time, especially where the Roman Empire was concerned. According to text, he was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
