Looking over the history of the stock prices you see that when Boston Scientific

MAKING CAPITAL INVESTMENT DECISIONS
Answers to Concept Questions
1.In this context, an opportunity cost refers to the value of an asset or other input
that will be used in a project. The relevant cost is what the asset or input is actually
worth today, not, for example, what it cost to acquire.
2.a.Yes, the reduction in the sales of the company s other products, referred to as
erosion, should be treated as an incremental cash flow. These lost sales are included
because they are a cost (a revenue reduction) that the firm must bear if it chooses to
produce the new product.
b.Yes, expenditures on plant and equipment should be treated as incremental cash
flows. These are costs of the new product line. ... Show more content on

6.Management s discretion to set the firm s capital structure is applicable at the firm
level. Since any one particular project could be financed entirely with equity, another
project could be financed with debt, and the firm s overall capital structure would
remain unchanged, financing costs are not relevant in the analysis of a project s
incremental cash flows according to the stand alone principle.
7.The EAC approach is appropriate when comparing mutually exclusive projects
with different lives that will be replaced when they wear out. This type of analysis
is necessary so that the projects have a common life span over which they can be
compared. For example, if one project has a three year life and the other has a five
year life, then a 15 year horizon is the minimum necessary to place the two projects
on an equal footing, implying that one project will be repeated five times and the
other will be repeated three times. Note the shortest common life may be quite long
when there are more than two alternatives and/or the individual project lives are
relatively long. Assuming this type of analysis is valid implies that the project cash
flows remain the same over the common life, thus ignoring the possible effects of,
among other things: (1) inflation, (2) changing economic conditions, (3) the
increasing unreliability of cash flow estimates that occur far into the future, and (4)
the possible effects of future technology improvement that could

Analysis of the Film Inside Man Essay
Patrick Carruthers Neupert Film Studies
The True Inside Man Inside Man was released in 2006 and would later become the
highest grossing film for the director Spike Lee. The film is a crime drama, located
primarily in a bank in New York City run by multi billionaire Arthur Case. Although
the film is a thriller and contains bits of action and suspense, the movie focuses
heavily on the difference between good and evil. The movie begins with a shot in
medias res of Clive Owen s character Dalton Russell explaining the difference
between being stuck in a tiny cell and being in prison while he moves around a small
room ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the film unfolds, the audience learns that although there were financial morals
fueling the master plan, there was also the desire to bring justice upon a man that
had betrayed and cheated his way to the top, thus giving the audience a sense of
righteousness in what Russell was doing. Russell had become not only the man
literally inside the bank, but inside the lies of Case with the means to expose them.
This alignment serves to form a sort of paradoxical allegiance in which although
the audience understands he is the leader of a criminal group, he is also uncovering
the secrets of an evil man and thus somewhat proving his innocence. This same
allegiance causes the audience to enjoy the conclusion, both out of respect for the
intelligence of the plan and because of his ability to escape with the documents and
potentially to uncover the awful past of Arthur Case. Although Ms. White s
thoughts are never truly expressed in the film, she plays a huge role in the
formation of the plot. Recognition of Ms. White comes easily for the fact that she is
a woman, and she is of power. An important aspect of her appearance is her clothing,
being that in every shot she is shown wearing formal clothing and more importantly;
heels. The clothing and heels serve to portray her as an
Aristotle Voluntary And Involuntary Act Summary
In Book III Chapter one of The Nicomachean Ethnics, Aristotle has his explanation of
the meaning of the voluntary act and involuntary act. He thinks the criterion for
judging whether a man should be held accountable for one of his actions was whether
he had acted voluntarily. As the main idea of book three moral virtue, Aristotle starts
his discussion from point out the issue of moral responsibility, which can be
considered as a basis of moral virtue, because if a man cannot be responsible for the
action he did, then theoretically the discussion is superfluous. For example, the
person was carried by the wind; then his behavior does not have any moral
significance. Therefore, Aristotle wants to make a distinction between the voluntary
actions and the involuntary actions, that is, for the moral responsibility to draw a
piece of their territory, as a basis to talk about other... Show more content on

Aristotle thinks this is characteristic of wicked; C cannot get the praise, but because
of the pressure, it can get away from the blame. However, that does not mean the

How the Music Industry Utilized Film to Help Create the...
With all the social, political and cultural changes occurring in the 1960s, youth
culture was embracing the ideologies of rebellion and counterculture. The Folk
music of the sixties was giving way to the new Rock revolution and with this came
the iconic Rock Rebel. The Rock Rebel is a romanticized existential figure who
revolts against social conventions in a quest to find value or a sense of freedom
beyond the pre existing conforms of society. (Camus; 1967) Through analysing, in a
sociological context, the way the music industry utilized film to help create or
reinvent star image of Rock icons The Beatlesand The Rolling Stones, we can see how
the signifier of the Rock Rebel has evolved with the developing Rock culture. (Dyer;
1979:1)... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(1997:24) For example, George shows his rebel streak against traditional fashion
when he speaks against the choices of professional trendsetter, stating: You mean
that posh bird who gets everything wrong? Ringo in an interview refuses to be
defined and as such when asked Are you a Mod or a Rocker? he replies I m a
mocker. Similarly John also makes quick witted remarks to reporters such as: How
did you find America? Turned left at Greenland. While Paul s rebellious side is
evident in the train scene when a fellow passenger tries to take away their music,
Yeah, but we want to hear it, and there s more of us than you. We re a community,
like, a majority vote. Up the workers and all that stuff!
While it was HDN that helped merge The Beatles youth audience with a more
adult crowd, thanks to the mature verite style aesthesis, it was the dramatised film
Help! (1965) that fully actualized their Rock rebel personas in correspondence
with Laurence Grossberg s notions of consumerism and mobility in relation to
Rebel image. (Grossberg; 1992) While there were several scenes of transport and
mobility shown in HDN, such as the train scene, it lacked the overindulgence of
commercialism that embodies the Grossberg s Rocker; they were the working class
boys next door who became famous, yet kept their iconic polished image of the
average man. In Help! this image is shattered when we see behind the ordinary
facades of
Theme Of Tragedy In Shakespeare s King Lear
Tragedy is one of the most common topics throughout literature. This theme can be
found in many works of literature spanning from Biblical archives to more recent
works in Blockbuster movies, and is commonly found in almost all societies today.
The theme of tragedy is so universal that it is found in many of Shakespeare s plays
and poems (e.g. Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, and plenty of other works). In specific,
tragedy is found in one of William Shakespeares most popular plays named King
Lear. King Lear was a tragedy that focused a lot on betrayal, however the play has
plenty more important elements that define the play. There of the most noteworthy
aspects that make up the play King Lear are: 1. The influence of many deaths in
William... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The death of his son probably influence the play to be more orientated around
relationships between parent and child. In fact, Shakespeare wrote many plays
(like Hamlet) around the time that his son died, and they had much to do with
family and relationships between parent/child. Not only was the death of
Shakespeare s son a huge event in his life (creating influence on the play King
Lear), but the death of his father and sister were also very important when it came
to playwriting King Lear. Child mortality was so common when Shakespeare was
young that one out of three children would die by the age of ten (Greenblatt).
Shakespeare was only fourteen when his seven year old sister, Anne, passed away
due to probably disease (Greenblatt). Seeing death among younger children was
common and Shakespeare must have witnessed more tragedies in his youth
(Greenblatt). This event of his younger sister dying, like many other children in
Europe, must of had a profound effect of Shakespeare. The death of his younger
sister probably had some psychological effects on Shakespeare along with a
possible desensitization of death. It is predicted that William Shakespeare was
influenced by his father s death. William s father, John Shakespeare, was a
leatherworker back in his day. John eventually moved up in socio economic status
and became a town bailiff(Folger Shakespeare Library).
Personally Identifiable Information Essay
Information gathering, through networking, social media, and both on and offline
storage have made it easier to collect information about an individual than ever
before, with many concerns having arisen over the years about privacy and the ability
to protect that privacy. As debates over personally identifiable information continue,
one cornerstone remains a constant, ethics. Ethics are defined as the standard by
which human actions can be judged right and wrong (Online, 2012) , but even that
can be debated when discussed within the realm of information technology. Have you
ever been to an internet shopping site and trusted the secure connection? Essentially,
you are entrusting an inanimate system developed by an individual or group... Show

The first questions to ask when it comes to e mail and websites at work is, Am I
being watched? The answer is most likely yes. Employers have begun to watch their
employee s activities with greater detail over the years. In 2001, CNN.com posted an
article titled, Is your PC watching you? Find out!, which looked into this further. In
this article A study by the Privacy Foundation claims employers are monitoring the
Internet and e mail use of 14 million employees. (Articles.CNN, 2001) While it can
be assumed that number has grown over the last decade, it can also be said with
certainty that measures have been put in place to ensure information transmitted via
business internet connections have increased. The U.S. government, for example, has
set up content filters and points of encryption to safeguard against system
penetrations and intrusions. Although these measures are not practical for home use,
limiting the information you supply to through the internet will help. One topic of
contention that does not seem to have a resolution, however, is the subject of
electronic medical records. The utilization of electronic medical records has been
highly ethically debated. According the Journal of Information Systems Education,
Building knowledge and skills in biometrics creates a mutual understanding between
IS professionals and health practitioners. (Cellucci, 2011) Although the thought
process is sound, the

There are evidences of happenings in the past that has proven many research
results to be wrong. Had a research work been incomplete and perfect, there would
not have been a necessity to rework on the same. In fact, a research always uses an
existing conclusion as a base. It is implied and evident from the above research
findings that there cannot be any research that could be termed Perfect , in this world.
It is my opinion about research. It is obvious that my opinion stands for the quote by
Griffiths. However, opinions and perceptions differ from person to person. Certain
things could be understood better by experimenting rather than seeking an
explanation. If you are not satisfied with what Griffiths has concluded, then
experience and experiment it yourselves, today!

Eleanor Roosevelt A Role Model
Eleanor Roosevelt though not elected or appointed government official she was
the wife of Franklin Roosevelt, was a towering figure in the politics of her day. In
her travels, lectures, and writing she promoted a liberal political agenda. Eleanor
Roosevelt was an interesting figure to write about because of how much she
contributed into the world of politics and how much she changed the equality of
allowing women to have equal rights to men in employment. She took on the role
of a political role model when Franklin Roosevelt fell ill on a unfortunate flight
back. When Eleanor picked up on politics she became a well known and respected

Eleanor Roosevelt was an activist who spoke out privately and publicly on a variety
of issues. I think that Eleanor Roosevelt felt that she had to take up the role of a
political role model because that Franklin fell ill. If Franklin hadn t been sick she
might have not gotten into the politics and things might have not changed. Without
the things that Eleanor did women might not have the rights they have today. The
early life of Eleanor Roosevelt was an interesting one she was raised in the Roosevelt
family which was a wealthy family at the time. She was enrolled in private schools
which her teacher took a liking to her and made her the teachers assistant. Eleanor

The Effects of Two or More Environmental Stressors on Aggressive Behaviour
An environmental stressor is a situation, which causes a negative emotional
experience, accompanied by predictable physiological, biochemical and behavioural
changes that are designed to help us adapt to the stressor. The three main
environmental stressors are heat, noise and crowding, all of which may result in
heightened physiological and psychological behaviour.
A large number of studies have investigated the possibility of a connection between
temperature and aggressive behaviour. Carlsmith and Anderson (1979) found that
hotter weather gives a higher chance of a riot when they looked at disturbances in 79
US cities ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It could also be a biological explanation. For example, the production of testosterone
increases when you get hot (Anderson and Anderson, 1998). The relationship between
temperature and aggression is not as simple as either the linear model or the
curvilinear model, as other variables may affect the relationship.
Crowding, another environmental stressor, is the unpleasant sensation that too
many people share the same space. It is personal in how much it affects us, as it
depends on how comfortable we feel in the close presence of others, and also how
peoples perception of crowding leads to them reacting to certain levels of density.
Calhan (1962) conducted an animal experiment into crowding leading to
aggression. He placed an expanding rat population into a small area, and observed
that they soon began sexually assaulting and killing each other, which confirms a
link between crowding and aggression. Research into crowding in Australian clubs
done by Macintyre and Hamel (1997) showed that the level of crowding in each
nightclub was related to the number of observed aggressive incidents. This is a
field experiment, meaning it has ecological validity and is not artificial and so can
be applied to real life. However, they did not get participant consent for observations,
which raise ethical issues. It seems clear that crowding is related to
My Dream In Education
For someone of the autism spectrum, I am getting more opportunities out of my
education than what most people would think. I have published my own research,
set up dinosaur skeletons, and I have even got some hands on experience with
digging for fossils in New York. I work incredibly hard to achieve my goals and to
make my dreams come true. The world will see that even though I am on the autism
spectrum, I am capable of doing anything. The only thing that is in the way is the
great amount of finances necessary to continue my education at Mercyhurst. Given
that it is a private school and one of the top 100 best colleges in the United States, the
tuition is very expensive. My advisors in the Autism Initiativeat Mercyhurst (AIM
program) said that I should contact my local Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation
(BVR) to see if they would be able to help mewith my overages. However, the still
deny me any services as they would only help me if I was attending a local
university, or a two year technical school. The base this off of a personality test that
they gave me when I applied for the services about two years ago. However, I am
excelling in a field that I am passionate about, and it is a career that is not listed on
their recommended list. Therefore, they will not help me if I am pursing my
dreams of which they think that I would not be capable of doing. Both my family
and I have tried various options towards paying for my tuition overages each
semester. For the past three semesters, my grandparents were able to help by
cosigning a few private loans through PNC banks. This was a seemingly easy
solution, but I knew that it would only last for just one semester and that we
would have to do it all over again. Given that they are close to retiring age, my
grandparents are unable to help me with any more loans. My mother was also
struggling to keep up with the payments on one of my loans. I had to take the
initiative to make the payments for the last few months of this year. Without my
grandparents helping me out, how was I going to pay for my tuition at a place
where my dreams have been coming true? One instance is that I have made the
initiative to apply for as many scholarships as I possibly
Reflection Of Clesus
Explanation: Perhaps as they are walking out of Jerusalem, perhaps before they had
left the place where they were celebrating the Passover, Jesus began explaining
disciples that he was the true vine, and his father was the vinedresser. He said that
every branch that did not bear fruit the Father would take away, but every branch that
did bear fruit he would prune so it would bear more fruit. Jesustold them that they
were clean through what he had told them, and that if they abided in him, he would
abide likewise in them. As a branch cannot bear fruit unless it is still attached to the
vine, so they could not bear fruit unless they would abide in him. Christthen
reiterated his previous statement: he was the vine, and they the branches. If they
would abide in him, they would bear much fruit; but if they did not, they could do
nothing. Then he elaborated: if anyone did not abide in him, and therefore bore no
fruit, he would be cut off and thrown into the fire, and he would wither and die. If
they would abide in him, and his words abide in them, they would be able to ask
anything of him, and it would be granted. And the Father is glorified when the
branches bear much fruit, which is a sign and seal of true discipleship. As the Father
loved the Son, so the Son loved his disciples. If the disciples therefore would keep
his commandments, they would abide in his love, in the same way as Christ kept his
Father s commandments and abides in his love. And Jesus was saying those things

Comcast Corporation Holdings Ltd
Comcast Corporation is a company in the services sector in the cable and
broadcasting industry located in the United States that offers media, entertainment,
and communications. The Corporation is headquartered in Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania (Comcast, 2016). This paper will be an extrapolation of Comcast s
history from the day it was founded to its current stature.
Timeline of important events in the organization s history
Comcast Corporation was founded in 1963 by Julian A. Brodsky, Daniel Aaron, and
Ralph J. Roberts and was later incorporated in 2001 on December as a media and
technology firm. In that year, the founders purchased and operated a local antenna
television system that was located in Tupelo, Mississippi. Initially, the company was
called American Cable Systems but in 1969, it changed its name to Comcast. It was
in 1972 that Comcast went public and transacted in the NASDAQ stock market under
the CMCSA ticker symbol. It then underwent a series of acquisitions and mergers
between 1986 and 1996. It is then that it transacted with E! Entertainment, E. W.
Scripps, Maclean Hunter, Storer Communications and Group W Cable. In 1997,
Comcast benefited from Microsoft s $1 billion investment. In a span of the next half a
decade, it also entered several transactions with Greater Philadelphia Cablevision,

Examples Of Globalization In The Movie Lion
Globalization has been presented in almost all of the movies today. In the movie Lion
, a big part that helped the main character find his way was through technology, using
media, trade, and transportation as the main factors. In this film, the producers and
directors took a true story about a little boy s unfortunate mishap that turned around
and changed his life. As he went into his adulthood he used technology and
transportation to find where he came from, and through globalization it abled him to
find his way back home.
Throughout the movie the train symbolized the transportation factor of globalization.
The train was there in the beginning when the boy lost his way and, was there at the
end when he found it. In the modern world, trains, planes, cars, and trucks is what
we use to travel or transport goods. Yes, sometimes we can lose our path but
transportation also helps us find our way back. Saroo, the main character of this

Little Albert Experiment By John Watson And Rosalie
Rayner
In 1920, John Watson and his student Rosalie Rayner performed the famous Little
Albert experiment where they conditioned an infant to fear a white rat and other
furry animals. This experiment helped to prove the theory of behaviorism,
specifically in terms that fears could be taught or conditioned as opposed to
inheritance from biology. However, if John Watson and Rosalie Rayner performed
this experiment today, the experiment would violate multiple ethical standards set in
place by the American PsychologyAssociation including 8.07b and 8.08c. 8.07b
means that any deception used in an experiment cannot inflict severe emotional or
physical distress on participants. To relate this standard to the Little Albert

School Prayer In School
Thesis: The removal of school prayer was a bad thing for students morals. Prayer
sets a standard for the students. Allowing prayer in school may improve a lot of
things about the students at school. The behavior of students would change
dramatically kids would not be mean to other students. Prayer is a action which
proclaims that life is more than just saving an environment or accumulating wealth
(Hovis 1). People might think that God is evil, our experiments with replacing
affirmation of humanism has been a dismal failure. The only thing of evil is for
good men to do nothing. Removing the school prayer sends a message to our
children, when we allow laws to be passed which limit the free expression. The
Federal and Supreme Court judges should be impeached who undermines the
freedom which this country was founded. The situation has become so absurd that
that congressional prayer cannot be voluntarily read in school buildings. The
removal of school prayer was a bad thing for students morals. Mortality declines
without prayer, prayer can shape a good citizen. With prayer students have
something to gain, they can be more helpful with others and the peers around
them. Since prayer was removed from school the violence has increased and grade
have dropped. SAT s have dropped drastically. More kids have been birth out of
wedlock. Increased in drug used and increased in juvenile crimes. Deterioration of
school behavior also. People also have a choice to be faithful, most who
Full Inclusion
Several research studies have shown that teacher attitudes toward inclusion have a
direct impact on the success of the inclusion program. Full inclusion is often put
into place in schools due to previous due process hearings and is often a one size fits
all model. Classroom teachers are rarely involved in the discussions and planning for
inclusion. School administrators often believe that full inclusion may reduce their
personnel budget by eliminating pull out programs for students with disabilities. This
article compares teacher perceptions to previous studies towards full inclusion,
particularly students who have emotional/behavior disorders (EBD). Teachers often

None of the schools were able to achieve full inclusion for students with EBD. Several
schools attempted full inclusion but reported having to remove the students and place
them into remedial classes due to their distributive behaviors. Every school that
participated in the study reported the classes for inclusion were chosen based on the
individual teacher personalities. All of the teachers reported some communication
between the special and general education teachers, however they noted that the
communication was not consistent and thinned out throughout the school year.
Special education teachers and support personnel were available on an as needed
basis or after the fact during a crisis situation. The participants of the study reported
various roles of the special education teacher, from team teacher to inclusion
consultant. Only two of the nine schools had general education teachers attend
Individual Education Plan (IEP) meetings. Teachers responded with a willingness to
provide inclusion services but express they were skeptical of the support they would
receive. A number of general education teachers refused to use behavior charts in
their classroom even as student behavior escalated
The Bite Of The Mango
While reading The Bite of the Mango, there are many traumatic events Mariatu
experiences. Even these events are extremely devastating, heartbreaking, and life
changing, Mariatu learns to seek the positives in her situations to make her life
more joyful. The first traumatic event that Mariatu experienced was her little
brother Santigie dying when Mariatu was 6 years old. Over the past years, Mariatu
has formed a strong bond with him through playing and talking. When he died, in
order to cope with her loss, she imagined that Santigie could be a spirit watching
over her. I was walking one day, I thought I could hear his voice calling me. I
turned to look, but there was no one there. This happened several times over the
next year. (Kamara 19), mariatu proclaims. These occurrences made Mariatu think
that Santigie was truly a spirit looking over her. Mariatu contemplating this
assumably helped her cope with her issues by thinking that Santigie is in a better
place now, looking over her shoulder. An additional traumatic event occured when
Mariatu gets attacked by the rebels in her home village. She experiences many
people she knows getting not only murdered, but also tortured mentally and
physically. In order to get through what is happening to her, she relies on god;
Please let me die quickly. Let it be over quickly, too. Don t let the rebels cut my body
piece by piece. (Kamara 35). Although Mariatu wasn t trying to live, she tried to deal
with her fear by praying to god
A Music Faculty Recital At Prince George s Community
College
A Music Faculty Recital at Prince George s Community College was actually the
very first concert I ve been to that included Baroque style. The environment created
a nostalgic yet modern and elegant mood; something that made you feel like you
were in the late 1700 s yet still in modern times. The songs were mostly enjoyable
and we re all well played. This concert included an ensemble: the flute, the cello, the
piano, and the harpsichord. Peggy Bair, who played the flute, was very enthusiastic.
Irma Cripe, who played the cello, was quiet for the first part of the concert but
gradually became more important throughout the concert. And lastly, the virtuous
Gary Kirkeby, who played the piano and harpsichord, served as the backbone of all
parts of the concert and made this concert very enjoyable.
When the concert first began, the three instrumentalists walked with energy despite
their age. The first song, Sonata I in G Major Op. 2, Nr. 1 by Michel Blavet, was a
Baroque Sonata. There were five movements and was played by the harpsichord,
flute, and cello. All movements of the song were polyphonic because of the three
instruments that had different parts and equal importance. In the first movement, I
noticed that the flute tended to rise in pitch. In the second movement, I noticed that
the melodies often repeated. Throughout the rest of the song the tempo changed from
fast to slow and the flute would usually take the lead. On the last movement, the cello
and the harpsichord
Design And The Technologies Used
In depth defense network design.
пѓ Design a defense in depth network. Research the latest technology such as
firewalls, IDS, IPS, VPN, Virus Protection, and Malware Protection. Describe your
design and the technologies used. Defend your design and provide a logical diagram
of the system.
When it comes to network defense, there is never a safe zone where a network is
prone to attacks, which is why it is always a good idea to make use of the in depth
strategic defense. This is a coordinated use of multiple security countermeasures to
protect the integrity of the information assets in an enterprise. This type of defense
makes it difficult for an enemy to get into, because of its complex and multilayered
defense system (Rouse, 2007). Defense in depth minimizes the probability that the
efforts of malicious hackers will succeed. A well designed strategy of this kind can
also help system administrators and security personnel identify people who attempt to
compromise a computer, server, proprietary network. Some of the things that make up
a defense in depth are antivirus software, firewalls, anti spyware, strong passwords,
intrusion detecttion, biometrics and much more (Rouse, 2007).
The first thing that comes to mind in designing an in depth defense network is access
control and authentications. Which means that we will be dealing with firewalls,
which will be used to protect the servers, segments and subnets. This first step will
establish an industrial demilitarization zone,

Mr. Anchor points out how tests are measured to conform to the average person. He
states that if you go above the norm your brain function changes and it will increase
its goalpost. For example, he points out that if you get good grades you will strive to
get better grades and if you get a good job you will then want to get a better job and
so on. He states that at that point the level of happiness is pushed to the opposite
side of success and they won t ever meet. As a society we ve trained ourselves to
think that success will determine our happiness. We need to develop our brains to
be positive in the present and it will increase our intelligence, creativity and energy
levels. It will help employees perform better and be more productive. When brains
are feeling negative a person s performance is less and they feel stressed or neutral.
He states we need to retrain our brains to be positive now. He conducted a study in
a company he worked for in which he had the employees write down three new
things they were thankful for everyday for 21 days. He states that at the end of that
study, the employees had rewired their brains to look at the world and find the
positive first before pointing out the negative. He found that random acts of kindness
will improve the positive brain levels in others as it will
Impact Of Globalization On Developing Countries
What are the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats presented to a
developing country by globalisation?
Over the past two decades people all over the world have become closer than before.
Goods and services that appear in a country will be immediately promoted in the
others.
This phenomenon is called globalisation. Globalisation at its simplest can be seen as
the increase of international trade and services, the greater movement of labour and
capital flows, the improvement in communication and transport as well as the growth
of multi national companies. The impact of globalisation on developing countries
varies. Some think that it is a good process which helps to reduce poverty and
inequality and others like Nelson Mandela see it as Where globalisation means, as it
so often does, that the rich and powerful now have new means to further enrich and
empower themselves at the cost of the poorer and weaker . In other words,
globalisation served just the developed countries.
A developing country is a nation with a lower standard of living, underdeveloped
industrial base and low human development index. A good example of developing
country is China. We will see the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats that
globalisation has presented to China.
One of the strengths globalisation has presented to certain developing countries is the
fact that it has taken them out of poverty. Indeed, China has become an industrialised
country due to its cheap labour.
Canadian Family Sociology
Some main points Baker was trying to make are that most of us have been raised
within a family, which tends to make us think that we are knowledgeable about the
sociology of the family, and that if we generalize from our friends and family we
would have a poor basis of research and theory. Not all people behave the same way
and share the same values and lifestyles as others. She also talked about how
personality and aptitudes can be affected not by only physiology and genetic
inheritance; they are also influenced by gendered and cultural practices within
families, as well as socio economic constraints.

10. In North America who has a high marriage market value? What are the possible
implications of these?
In North America pretty women and rich men have a high marriage market value.
The possible implications of these are that increased divorce rates prove that people
are not choosing their spouses wisely. They are focusing on looks or wealth rather
than other important qualities.
11. Why arrange a marriage for your offspring? How has this been modified more
recently?
Most people arrange marriages for their off springs because they think that they can
find a more suitable mate for their offsprings and they believe that their offsprings
should be married to someone of their own family status, the same salary and the
same religion. Marriages continue to be arranged in order to enhance family
resources, reputation, and alliances, and because parents and older relatives feel
that they are more qualified than young people to make such decisions. In today s
society parents are giving their children more power (not all the power) to make
somewhat of a decision on who they re going to get married to. Some families still
have strict rules on who their offsprings are going to marry but they still give
An Analysis of Two Key Passages in Antigone
An Analysis of Two Key Passages in Antigone
During the Nazi occupation of France, Jean Anouilh produced an adaptation of
Sophocles tragedy, Antigone, as a representation of the struggle between those
collaborating with the occupants and those resisting them. While it is possible to read
Anouilh s Antigone as a texte de la Resistance , it can also be interpreted as an
apologia for the Nazis severe, authoritarian behavior. The two key passages selected
are crucial to the development of the play in that they highlight the clash between
ideologies. While Antigone s speech offers an insight into her idealistic world view,
Creon s dialogue exposes his pragmatic approach to life. This conflict of thought and
action epitomizes the conflict ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The harshness of Antigone s outlook is emphasised by Anouilh yet again when he
has her say that Oedipus only became beautiful when all hope was gone, stamped out
like a beetle [Passage A, line 26]. The violent nature of this simile reinforces Antigone
s strong belief in the value self renunciation. Simultaneously, it emphasizes that the
majority of ordinary citizens blindly follow the dictates of Creon s government and
his pedestrian mode of thought, aiming for nothing more than the contentment of
getting on with their lives. Repellent natural imagery is further utilized to distinguish
Antigone s higher aims from those of Creon and all those who are attached to life at
any cost: You [Creon] are all like dogs that lick everything they smell [Passage A, line
7]. This degrades Creon and his followers or fellow Collaborators to mere animals in
that they live by their animalistic impulses, most of all the will to live, rather than
upon any higher aim. This implies that pragmatism requires minimal thought or
emotional effort, while idealism on the other hand, demands a powerful self control
that can sublimate the animal will to live, and requires an advanced intellectual and
emotional level. It demands the renunciation of the saint, but as an existentialist

Case 1 (Starbucks Part 1) a) The nature of Starbucks business is to generate income
based on operating activities. When referencing the Statement of Cash Flows and
looking at their operating activities, you can see that Starbucks generates $2,908.3M
in net cash provided by operating activities. Investment is a significant item in this
statement as well. The company spent $785.9M in investments in the year ending
September 29th, 2013. Strong investment activities show that Starbucks is investing
through buying and selling (Sales, maturities, and calls of investments $1,040.2M)
and using their spare cash to invigorate future growth and fund future obligations.
There is also heavy investment in property, plant, and equipment with additions
totaling $1,151.2M. This type of investment show us that Starbucks is focused on
expansion using cash from operations. They have a significant amount of cash
coming in from operations, and money going out in PP E. The analyst should not be
concerned that Starbucks is borrowing money for negative reasons, and they are
looking very strong from an operating and investing standpoint. They are effectively

Prior to the founding of the Massachusetts Bay colony in 1630 religion had not
played a large part in the politics and development of the British North American
colonies. The first settlers who established Jamestown in 1607 were looking for
riches similar to those found by the Spanish in Central America. After finding no

пїјHuge amounts of data are collected nowadays from different application domains
and are not feasible to analyze all these data manually. Knowledge Discovery in
Databases (KDD) is the nontrivial process of identifying valid, novel, potentially
useful, and ultimately understandable patterns in data. In recent years, soft computing
became more and more attractive for the researchers, who work in the related
research field of data mining. This paper concerns primarily about how to use soft
computing model to extract knowledge from data mining (database). The data
mining preprocessing techniques have been applied on the available data to clean it
in proper form to extract the knowledge from the data. Thereafter, statistical analysis
and soft computing techniques have been applied on the clean data to select the
preferable model. The decision of the preferable model has to be achieved based on
the maximum number of minimum value of the parameters of residual analysis and
average error. The preferable model has been used to extract the knowledge from the

William Wordsworth Poems Romanticism Romanticism is a name ofa huge

Coleridge, William Wordsworth and Percy Bysshe Shelley. Many of their poems
were full of the characteristics that Romanticism carried. It is an age of change that
happened in Europe and revived many beautiful characteristics that people didn t care
about in the past. They talked about topics like art, religion and politics. Emotions,
nature and imagination appeared in that time. Writers of that age were romantic in
their work. They used most of the characteristics of Romanticism. For example,

It began at the end of 18th and the beginning of 19th century. It talks about many
new things like emphasis and internalization in emotional topics like nature and
imagination .The romanticism movement is an intellectual movement. It brings
many important names in literature; poets with strong emotions and incredible
talentlike Coleridge, Wordsworth and Shelley. The one who properly reflected the
age of Romanticism in a good way between the poets was Wordsworth whom some
people call him the father of that age. Wordsworth embodied the leading power of
Romanticism and the classic elements of the romanticism movement can be found
in Wordsworth s work. He has a strong emphasis on nature. Wordsworth s works
and the Romanticism movement gave a huge place and importance to nature. He
used nature and imagination in most of his works. Besides, his emotionswere in
rural language, so it will be the best way to describe his feelings and it is more
comfortable to the reader that the poet talks in a language that most people like.
He wrote many poems like I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud , A Character and My
Heart Leaps Up . His poem I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud carries almost all
characters from the romanticism period like emotions and imagination. The main
reason for him to write it was the nature and the beauty of it and to show the people
who don t know the beauty of nature and for them to see it how he sees it from
The Rebellion Of The Jamaica
On October 11, 1865, Paul Bogle and a group of free blacks marched into Morant
Bay protesting a local trail, which resulted in a full scale uprising that caused deaths
and destruction. Free blacks had economic troubles and little to power in colonial
society because of their limited access to resources. By July 8, 1865, the Jamaica
Guardian captured the people s discontent with Governor Edward John Eyre, who
served as British official on the island. In this message of discontent, the people
call for his removal because of his weak, vacillating, and undignified character and
conduct. The people became quite discontent with the British official because of
his actions regarding the Morant Bay Rebellion. He responded to the rebellion with
force and violence by declaring martial law in Surrey County and accused George
William Gordon, a free black businessman, of being part of the rebellion that led to
death. This whirlwind of events caused many to question Eyre s leadership and led to
the establishment of the Jamaica Committee, a group of men from England. This
group wanted to imprison the governor for his actions, but their actions led to his
removal from office.
This event created much havoc and chaos in England and Jamaica because it
disturbed the British masses, which questioned the effectiveness of colonial rule after
the Sepoy Munity of 1857. The cases received a large amount of political and public
attention because two schools of thought existed in the debate. One
The Prevalence Of Online Piracy
The music and movie piracy has been one of the major issues, which the world has
been facing and challenging for years. Illegal music and movie downloading
became more prevalent as technology improved. According to the statistics by
Ipsos, 30% of the UK population is active in some form of piracy, either through
streaming content online or buying counterfeit DVDs (Lodderhose, 2014). Some
people argue that music and movie piracy could be considered as same as theft
which could have significant impacts on music and movie industries while others
do not concern about it. This essay will examine the reasons behind the prevalence
of online piracy and will discuss the positive and negative impacts of online piracy.
There are considerable numbers of accounts for downloading movies and music
illegally. First of all according to the article by Sudler (2013), the digital revolution
is one of the major aspects, which has contributed the increase in piracy levels as it
has allowed people to store information digitally. Moreover, the invention of World
Wide Web is classified as one of the other significant causes since it has resulted in
expanding on the Internet piracy considerably (ibid). Furthermore, high speed
networks and developments in broadband technology have been playing a significant
role on the Internet piracy (ibid). In addition, some people argue that online
information ought to available for free, even children and teens. According to the

As a recent high school graduate, I spent the last year of high school deciding what
I want to do with my life. It was time to seriously answer the question what do you
want to be when you grow up? As a child this question seems so broad and open.
There are a million things to choose from. One day I could ve been a teacher, and
the next day a veterinarian. But one thing you don t hear most kids say they dream
about being is a college graduate. However, when the time comes to plan your life,
suddenly the options diminish and you re really left with only two; college, or a
job. For a long period of time, the majority of high schoolgraduates have chosen
college, while the remaining students go directly into the labor force or find... Show

Since then thousands of universities have opened and offer many different fields to
pursue. From law schools to technical institutes to community colleges, there are a
variety of higher education options. Since the mass development of universities, it
has become more traditional for people of all social statuses to attend college.
Also, since 1636 the number of people going to college has also increased as a
higher education has become more attainable for the average person. However, in
recent times the trend of an increasing enrollment has faded away. This decrease in
college registration influences the question of why students have begun to stray away
from college in the last few years.
Mathew Bidwell, a professor at the Wharton University of Pennsylvania has found
that About 300,000 fewer students enrolled in college this fall [2013], compared to
2012 (Bidwell 2). This decline in enrollment is something to worry about because
the future of the United States falls heavy on the shoulders of education. In 2012
Barrack Obama set a goal for the United States: by the year 2020 America will once
again have the highest proportion of college graduates in the world. ( Ensuring 1.)
With the aim of achieving this goal, it is important to stop this decline in college
enrollment. In order to understand the decline in college enrollment, it is important to
understand the factors that are repelling future
The For Long Lasting Peace After Two Major Wars
Introduction There is a mighty desire for long lasting peace after two major wars
which meant the European integration moved towards reality and is ever increasing.
This has only led to major empowerment upon its institutions, such as The Court of
Justice of the European Union (CJEU). The CJEU has taken a major involvement in
the development of the European Unionas it attempts to shape the legal order. Under
Article 267, The Court of Justice has jurisdiction to give preliminary rulings on
questions of interpretation of European law which national courts have a loyal duty
to follow. Even though the CJEU is considered a prominent figure in renovating the
legal order, national courts have a vital role within the application of the law. The
preliminary procedure between the court of Justice and national courts have often
been considered as very accommodating. Nonetheless there have been many issues
pointed out may contradict this for instance there have been situations where national
courts have been more hesitant in referring their cases to the Court of Justice. Prime
examples which are considered as the reason behind the transforming relationship
between the CJEU and national courts is the formation of Acte Clair. Although the
CJEU prime intention is to seek the co operation from national courts, by shaping this
cooperation it is only placing itself in a superior position. Throughout this essay there
shall discussions which will attempt to conclude whether the preliminary
Music Analysis Of The Film Music Of King Kong 1933

Music Analysis
King Kong 1933 King Kong is the perfect example of the early development of
motion picture music in the twentieth century. The music was not only essential to
the film, but musical scores also made the film better for the audience. Clever
composers created a true musical drama; Max Steiner was known for his musical
ability including films like Gone with the Wind. Steiner spent a lot of amount on the
music of film King Kong 1933. The music meant everything to that picture, and the
picture meant everything to RKO, because it saved the studio from bankruptcy.... The
impact of King Kong on the movie going public was astonishing. It emerged into a
country frightened, impoverished, in the grip of the Great Depression. The main
instrument used in the film music was orchestra which was perfectly aligned with
the theme of characters in the film at various points. Steiner developed the music
in the symphonic fashion which allowed the film to hit a high score musically and
became a symphonic fashion. The usage of the cycle of operas was brilliant with a
soothing tune to the ears. The Main Title music opens with King Kong s three note
motive; heard throughout the entire score in many sections and guises, but always
identifying King Kong himself. The film has a fifty foot giant that depicted a lot
of terror to the audience which was facilitated by music; the main title continues
with the stolen love of the heroine of the movie. Ann Darrow played the heroine
who was saved dramatically by the king kong, and she fell in love with him. Her
love for her lifesaver and her further development of the relationship with the
gorilla was the core of music and the film. The jungle dance was a faster tune with
continuous rhythm, while after the jungle dance, music became much softer,
romantic and lush. The entrance of the Kong was a long sequence which was
created by Steiner in an orchestral tradition. Viola and Celesta players were given a
few notes to play quickly along with some violence in some passages. The recording
and the whole thing had a great feeling about it; the natives there was a 2 phase
theme which opened like an Indian descending line. Each of the themes including love
Notes On Commodities And Consumption
Commodities and Consumption
There are many commodities in our life that plays an important part in our daily
consumption. Such commodities link us to the people around the world who produce
these for us. The purpose of this assignment is to choose a produced outside of the
US, and write an essay by conducting research using sources such as use information
directly from the store or company, academic articles/books, the Internet and personal
interviews. The essay will answer questions about the location of commodity, the
corporate entity that controls the production and distribution of that commodity,
labour and the conditions of labour engaged in producing commodity, environmental
consequences of the commodity and the importance of commodity in our lives at US.
Where is the commodity produced? What corporate entity controls the production and
distribution of that commodity?
The commodity chosen is coffee bean that is a seed of the coffee plant, and is the
source for coffee, a very popular brewed drink with a distinct aroma and flavour.
Coffee beans are found inside berries of the Coffee plant. The plants of coffee are
cultivated in over 70 countries, mainly in the regions of India, Americas, Africa and
Southeast Asia. The two most popular coffee types grown include Arabica and
Robusta. The beverage, coffee, is slightly acidic and has caffeine that might cause a
stimulating effect on humans. Majority of the researchers suggest that consuming
coffee in moderation can be

Kaplan and Sadock (as cited in Brollier, Hamrick Jacobson, 1994) stated that
depression, during the teen years, has become an increasing area of concern in
psychiatry (Kaplan Sadock, 1991. Kashani, Carlson, Beck, Hoeper, Corcoran,

Only a handful of studies have been completed to observe this area of study. Norris,
Carroll and Cochrane (1992) found that students at a secondary school who stated
they exercised regularly, produced lower scores on the Multiple Affect Adjective
Check List, developed by Zukerman and Lubin. Brown, Welsh, Labbe, Vitulli and
Kulkarni (1992) found that aerobic exercise was beneficial for 54 depressed patients,
of both sexes, with the average age being 15.6 years of age. However, this study
found that the female participants reported a greater amount of change in depression,
anger, exhaustion, anxiety and confusion, following the nine week study. Although
the male subjects did see improvements in their psychological states, the female
participants were slightly better off. Another study conducted by Brollier et al.
(1994) found that of the four adolescent, male participants they were able to work
with in their study, all were able to gain some benefit from the aerobic exercise of
jogging. All the participants reported less depressive symptoms, as well as enhanced
energy, and a better self concept in general.
Although there have been a few studies conducted in the area of exercise and
depression, almost all the studies have used aerobic exercise as their independent
variable, with only a few
Storm On Galilee
The Storm on the Sea of Galilee was painted in 1633 by Rembrandt Harmenszoon
van Rijn, a Dutch artist who is claimed to be the best throughout time. The painting
was stolen in 1990 from the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston and has
never been seen since. It is depicted from Jesus Calms the Storm which appears in
Mathew 8:23, Mark 4:35, and Luke 8:22. Rembrandtdid a good job representing the
story while keeping a strong artistic value and quality in the painting. The Biblical
story of JesusCalms the Storm appears in the three synoptic gospels of Mathew,
Mark, and Luke. The story starts out with Jesus asking his disciples to cross the Sea
of Galilee with him. After Jesus had fallen asleep, a great storm had blown in and the

Rembrandt used a triadic color scheme, meaning he used one color with two other
colors that are on the opposite side of the color wheel. For example, a majority of
the painting is blue while in some parts are yellow and orange/brown. This color
scheme also goes into the majority and minority aspect of the painting. A majority of
the painting is dark and blue, while the minority of the painting bright and yellow.
The majority and minority helps make the painting more interesting and it creates
strong contrast with the dark sky and sea. With the front of the boat being the
minority and the highest level of contrast, it becomes the main focal point. Light and
shadows are another thing Rembrandt did well with. It adds a level of detail that
makes the painting more realistic and understandable. There is also a use of psychic
lines in the painting, all of the men surrounding Jesus are looking at when which
creates another focal point and allows the audience to understand who Jesus
Reducing Alzheimer s Disease
slowly increasing due to many factors including our better health care system,
better diet and more sanitary living conditions. Due to this we are seeing an
increase in age related illnesses such as dementia. The main form of dementia is
Alzheimer s disease, a neuroinflammatory disease, which causes impaired cognitive
activity. There is currently no cure for Alzheimer s disease and current treatments
are only effective temporarily. Recently a study carried out by Kuti Baruch, Neta
Rosenweig et al. looked at a novel way of treating the disease by studying the
effects of Foxp3+ regulatory T cells. Their focus during this study was whether or
not a reduction in the level of Foxp3+ would have a beneficial effect on Alzheimer s
pathology. (1 3)... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These drugs are used during early stages of Alzheimer s when symptoms are mild
to moderate, however research has shown that these drugs do not reduce any of the
underlying causes of Alzheimer s and they do not increase the time before a person
with the disease could live without professional care. Due to this these treatments
are mostly used in a palliative sense, they help reduce the symptoms but are not a
cure and cannot remove the disease. (6, 7) Currently there is not a treatment that is
focused on the cause of Alzheimer s, the plaques and tangles. (6) However research
carried out by Kuti Baruch et al focused on targeting Foxp3+regulatory T cells and
the effect this would have on helping clear the ОІ amyloid plaques, this research may
lead to the creation of new treatment types that would be more than palliative in
nature.

CEO HUBERT JOLY BREATHED A SIGH OF RELIEF as he reviewed the 2012 end
of year holiday revenue figures for Best Buy. After perhaps the most tumultuous
year ever in the life of the company, he knew the numbers could be much worse.
Despite being the world s largest retailer of consumer electronics with $50 billion
in annual sales, Best Buy s financial situation was precarious. The company s stock
price had fallen from $45 to $15 per share over the past two years, a drop of roughly
60 percent.1 While revenues had been increasing at a marginal rate, both comparable

but investors were already clamoring for more details on what Joly s next steps

Sound of Music, an audio specialty store, in Minnesota in 1966. The fledgling
company ended its first fiscal year with gross sales of $173,000, and continued to
grow rapidly over the next few years. By the time of its initial public offering in
1969, the hometown enterprise had acquired two of its local competitors12 and had
opened two new outlets near the University of

Schulze bought out Wheeler in 1971,13 shortly after Sound of Music hit the $1

George Rousseau And Jean Jacques Rousseau Essay
The concept of Liberty can be very complex when trying to define it, one of the
reasons for that is that no one seems to agree on what it means to be free. There is
the connotation of the word Liberty which is Freedom from captivity imprisonment,
slavery, or despotic control. (566 Oxford Dictionary) but Liberty is often portrayed as
more than just that. When looking at the past, Liberty is an interesting concept,
considering the social structure at the time and how the king and the church had so
much power. A lot changed with the French Revolution and the abolishment of the
French monarchy but let us take a look a few years before that, where two great
minds of this time had their own opinion of Liberty an how to achieve it.
Denis Diderot and Jean Jacques Rousseau are two of the original Romantics; they
both brought new ideas to the world and tried to change it. Diderot was very big on
man being able to think for themselves, not always being told what to do and how
to do it, he believe in our ability to reason and make our own decisions The finest
privilege of our reason consists in not believing in anything by the impulsion of a
blind and mechanical instinct. Man is born to think for himself. (Denis Diderot, L
Encyclopedie 1751) Rousseau had his own view of liberty, he believed that man
show follow their feelings and not their mind, he believe that nature was man s true
safe haven To feel is to exist, and our feelings come most uncontestebly before our
thoughts

How Is Humor Used In Andy Weir s The Martian
NASA has been trying to survive on Mars for years, but in this novel, they already
have. The Martian is a science fiction novel about Mark Watney, a botanist for
NASA, is involved in a mission to Mars, until one day he is left behind on Mars with
limited supplies. Watney has to persevere through several challenges to get back
home, and try not to die in the process. The Martian is a very suspenseful book
written by the interesting author, Andy Weir, who uses humor to counter the drama.
Andy Weir has led an exciting and interesting science filled life, for instance, when
Weir was fifteen, he got hired as a programmer for a national laboratory
(BookBrowse), and later attended college at the University of California
(Lundquist). Space travel, orbital dynamics, relativistic physics, astronomy, and the
history of manned spaceflight are a few of Weir s interests, that he said inspired

How do professional design companies work through a design process? The video

Extend Your Understanding (Optional)
Engineers need to know what problems they are addressing. They must have an idea
about the degree to which the solution should be carried out, along with what the
solution should do to solve the problem. The engineer must also work within
constraints, such as time and budget. A design brief is a tool that is used to
concisely identify the problem, solution expectations, and project constraints. The
engineer will often return to the design brief throughout a design process to assess
the progress and validity of his or her creative work.
Imagine that you are part of that design team. The project leader has given you the
responsibility of creating a design brief that defines the problem, states the
expectations that the solution must meet, and identifies the project criteria and
constraints. Your design brief will serve as a guide to the team as they work through
the design process.
From your observations of the video, record your information in the design brief on

Corporate Finance Core Principles and Applications Chapter 8 CHAPTER 8 MAKING CAPITAL INVESTMENT DECISIONS Answers to Concept Questions 1.In this context, an opportunity cost refers to the value of an asset or other input that will be used in a project. The relevant cost is what the asset or input is actually worth today, not, for example, what it cost to acquire. 2.a.Yes, the reduction in the sales of the company s other products, referred to as erosion, should be treated as an incremental cash flow. These lost sales are included because they are a cost (a revenue reduction) that the firm must bear if it chooses to produce the new product. b.Yes, expenditures on plant and equipment should be treated as incremental cash flows. These are costs of the new product line. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 6.Management s discretion to set the firm s capital structure is applicable at the firm level. Since any one particular project could be financed entirely with equity, another project could be financed with debt, and the firm s overall capital structure would remain unchanged, financing costs are not relevant in the analysis of a project s incremental cash flows according to the stand alone principle. 7.The EAC approach is appropriate when comparing mutually exclusive projects with different lives that will be replaced when they wear out. This type of analysis is necessary so that the projects have a common life span over which they can be compared. For example, if one project has a three year life and the other has a five year life, then a 15 year horizon is the minimum necessary to place the two projects on an equal footing, implying that one project will be repeated five times and the other will be repeated three times. Note the shortest common life may be quite long when there are more than two alternatives and/or the individual project lives are relatively long. Assuming this type of analysis is valid implies that the project cash flows remain the same over the common life, thus ignoring the possible effects of, among other things: (1) inflation, (2) changing economic conditions, (3) the increasing unreliability of cash flow estimates that occur far into the future, and (4) the possible effects of future technology improvement that could

Analysis of the Film Inside Man Essay Patrick Carruthers Neupert Film Studies The True Inside Man Inside Man was released in 2006 and would later become the highest grossing film for the director Spike Lee. The film is a crime drama, located primarily in a bank in New York City run by multi billionaire Arthur Case. Although the film is a thriller and contains bits of action and suspense, the movie focuses heavily on the difference between good and evil. The movie begins with a shot in medias res of Clive Owen s character Dalton Russell explaining the difference between being stuck in a tiny cell and being in prison while he moves around a small room ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As the film unfolds, the audience learns that although there were financial morals fueling the master plan, there was also the desire to bring justice upon a man that had betrayed and cheated his way to the top, thus giving the audience a sense of righteousness in what Russell was doing. Russell had become not only the man literally inside the bank, but inside the lies of Case with the means to expose them. This alignment serves to form a sort of paradoxical allegiance in which although the audience understands he is the leader of a criminal group, he is also uncovering the secrets of an evil man and thus somewhat proving his innocence. This same allegiance causes the audience to enjoy the conclusion, both out of respect for the intelligence of the plan and because of his ability to escape with the documents and potentially to uncover the awful past of Arthur Case. Although Ms. White s thoughts are never truly expressed in the film, she plays a huge role in the formation of the plot. Recognition of Ms. White comes easily for the fact that she is a woman, and she is of power. An important aspect of her appearance is her clothing, being that in every shot she is shown wearing formal clothing and more importantly; heels. The clothing and heels serve to portray her as an

He thinks the criterion for judging whether a man should be held accountable for one of his actions was whether he had acted voluntarily. As the main idea of book three moral virtue, Aristotle starts his discussion from point out the issue of moral responsibility, which can be considered as a basis of moral virtue, because if a man cannot be responsible for the action he did, then theoretically the discussion is superfluous. For example, the person was carried by the wind; then his behavior does not have any moral significance. • 10. How the Music Industry Utilized Film to Help Create the... With all the social, political and cultural changes occurring in the 1960s, youth culture was embracing the ideologies of rebellion and counterculture. The Folk music of the sixties was giving way to the new Rock revolution and with this came the iconic Rock Rebel. The Rock Rebel is a romanticized existential figure who revolts against social conventions in a quest to find value or a sense of freedom beyond the pre existing conforms of society. (Camus; 1967) Through analysing, in a sociological context, the way the music industry utilized film to help create or reinvent star image of Rock icons The Beatlesand The Rolling Stones, we can see how the signifier of the Rock Rebel has evolved with the developing Rock culture. Ringo in an interview refuses to be defined and as such when asked Are you a Mod or a Rocker? he replies I m a mocker. Similarly John also makes quick witted remarks to reporters such as: How did you find America? Turned left at Greenland. While Paul s rebellious side is evident in the train scene when a fellow passenger tries to take away their music, Yeah, but we want to hear it, and there s more of us than you. We re a community, like, a majority vote. Up the workers and all that stuff! While it was HDN that helped merge The Beatles youth audience with a more adult crowd, thanks to the mature verite style aesthesis, it was the dramatised film Help! (1965) that fully actualized their Rock rebel personas in correspondence with Laurence Grossberg s notions of consumerism and mobility in relation to Rebel image. (Grossberg; 1992) While there were several scenes of transport and mobility shown in HDN, such as the train scene, it lacked the overindulgence of commercialism that embodies the Grossberg s Rocker; they were the working class boys next door who became famous, yet kept their iconic polished image of the average man. In Help! this image is shattered when we see behind the ordinary facades of
  • 11. Theme Of Tragedy In Shakespeare s King Lear Tragedy is one of the most common topics throughout literature. This theme can be found in many works of literature spanning from Biblical archives to more recent works in Blockbuster movies, and is commonly found in almost all societies today. The theme of tragedy is so universal that it is found in many of Shakespeare s plays and poems (e.g. Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, and plenty of other works). In specific, tragedy is found in one of William Shakespeares most popular plays named King Lear. King Lear was a tragedy that focused a lot on betrayal, however the play has plenty more important elements that define the play. The death of his son probably influence the play to be more orientated around relationships between parent and child. In fact, Shakespeare wrote many plays (like Hamlet) around the time that his son died, and they had much to do with family and relationships between parent/child. Not only was the death of Shakespeare s son a huge event in his life (creating influence on the play King Lear), but the death of his father and sister were also very important when it came to playwriting King Lear. Child mortality was so common when Shakespeare was young that one out of three children would die by the age of ten (Greenblatt). Shakespeare was only fourteen when his seven year old sister, Anne, passed away due to probably disease (Greenblatt). Seeing death among younger children was common and Shakespeare must have witnessed more tragedies in his youth (Greenblatt). This event of his younger sister dying, like many other children in Europe, must of had a profound effect of Shakespeare. The death of his younger sister probably had some psychological effects on Shakespeare along with a possible desensitization of death. It is predicted that William Shakespeare was influenced by his father s death. William s father, John Shakespeare, was a leatherworker back in his day. John eventually moved up in socio economic status and became a town bailiff(Folger Shakespeare Library).

Personally Identifiable Information Essay Information gathering, through networking, social media, and both on and offline storage have made it easier to collect information about an individual than ever before, with many concerns having arisen over the years about privacy and the ability to protect that privacy. As debates over personally identifiable information continue, one cornerstone remains a constant, ethics. Ethics are defined as the standard by which human actions can be judged right and wrong (Online, 2012) , but even that can be debated when discussed within the realm of information technology. Employers have begun to watch their employee s activities with greater detail over the years. In 2001, CNN.com posted an article titled, Is your PC watching you? Find out!, which looked into this further. In this article A study by the Privacy Foundation claims employers are monitoring the Internet and e mail use of 14 million employees. (Articles.CNN, 2001) While it can be assumed that number has grown over the last decade, it can also be said with certainty that measures have been put in place to ensure information transmitted via business internet connections have increased. The U.S. government, for example, has set up content filters and points of encryption to safeguard against system penetrations and intrusions. Although these measures are not practical for home use, limiting the information you supply to through the internet will help. One topic of contention that does not seem to have a resolution, however, is the subject of electronic medical records. The utilization of electronic medical records has been highly ethically debated. According the Journal of Information Systems Education, Building knowledge and skills in biometrics creates a mutual understanding between IS professionals and health practitioners. The Effects of Two or More Environmental Stressors on Aggressive Behaviour An environmental stressor is a situation, which causes a negative emotional experience, accompanied by predictable physiological, biochemical and behavioural changes that are designed to help us adapt to the stressor. The three main environmental stressors are heat, noise and crowding, all of which may result in heightened physiological and psychological behaviour. A large number of studies have investigated the possibility of a connection between temperature and aggressive behaviour. It could also be a biological explanation. For example, the production of testosterone increases when you get hot (Anderson and Anderson, 1998). The relationship between temperature and aggression is not as simple as either the linear model or the curvilinear model, as other variables may affect the relationship. Crowding, another environmental stressor, is the unpleasant sensation that too many people share the same space. It is personal in how much it affects us, as it depends on how comfortable we feel in the close presence of others, and also how peoples perception of crowding leads to them reacting to certain levels of density. Calhan (1962) conducted an animal experiment into crowding leading to aggression. He placed an expanding rat population into a small area, and observed that they soon began sexually assaulting and killing each other, which confirms a link between crowding and aggression. Research into crowding in Australian clubs done by Macintyre and Hamel (1997) showed that the level of crowding in each nightclub was related to the number of observed aggressive incidents. This is a field experiment, meaning it has ecological validity and is not artificial and so can be applied to real life. However, they did not get participant consent for observations, which raise ethical issues. It seems clear that crowding is related to

I have published my own research, set up dinosaur skeletons, and I have even got some hands on experience with digging for fossils in New York. I work incredibly hard to achieve my goals and to make my dreams come true. The world will see that even though I am on the autism spectrum, I am capable of doing anything. The only thing that is in the way is the great amount of finances necessary to continue my education at Mercyhurst. Given that it is a private school and one of the top 100 best colleges in the United States, the tuition is very expensive. My advisors in the Autism Initiativeat Mercyhurst (AIM program) said that I should contact my local Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation (BVR) to see if they would be able to help mewith my overages. However, the still deny me any services as they would only help me if I was attending a local university, or a two year technical school. The base this off of a personality test that they gave me when I applied for the services about two years ago. However, I am excelling in a field that I am passionate about, and it is a career that is not listed on their recommended list. Therefore, they will not help me if I am pursing my dreams of which they think that I would not be capable of doing. Both my family and I have tried various options towards paying for my tuition overages each semester. For the past three semesters, my grandparents were able to help by cosigning a few private loans through PNC banks. This was a seemingly easy solution, but I knew that it would only last for just one semester and that we would have to do it all over again. Given that they are close to retiring age, my grandparents are unable to help me with any more loans. My mother was also struggling to keep up with the payments on one of my loans. I had to take the initiative to make the payments for the last few months of this year. Without my grandparents helping me out, how was I going to pay for my tuition at a place where my dreams have been coming true? One instance is that I have made the initiative to apply for as many scholarships as I possibly
  • 17. Reflection Of Clesus Explanation: Perhaps as they are walking out of Jerusalem, perhaps before they had left the place where they were celebrating the Passover, Jesus began explaining disciples that he was the true vine, and his father was the vinedresser. He said that every branch that did not bear fruit the Father would take away, but every branch that did bear fruit he would prune so it would bear more fruit. Jesustold them that they were clean through what he had told them, and that if they abided in him, he would abide likewise in them. As a branch cannot bear fruit unless it is still attached to the vine, so they could not bear fruit unless they would abide in him. Christthen reiterated his previous statement: he was the vine, and they the branches. If they would abide in him, they would bear much fruit; but if they did not, they could do nothing. Then he elaborated: if anyone did not abide in him, and therefore bore no fruit, he would be cut off and thrown into the fire, and he would wither and die. If they would abide in him, and his words abide in them, they would be able to ask anything of him, and it would be granted. And the Father is glorified when the branches bear much fruit, which is a sign and seal of true discipleship. As the Father loved the Son, so the Son loved his disciples. If the disciples therefore would keep his commandments, they would abide in his love, in the same way as Christ kept his Father s commandments and abides in his love. And Jesus was saying those things

Even these events are extremely devastating, heartbreaking, and life changing, Mariatu learns to seek the positives in her situations to make her life more joyful. The first traumatic event that Mariatu experienced was her little brother Santigie dying when Mariatu was 6 years old. Over the past years, Mariatu has formed a strong bond with him through playing and talking. When he died, in order to cope with her loss, she imagined that Santigie could be a spirit watching over her. I was walking one day, I thought I could hear his voice calling me. I turned to look, but there was no one there. This happened several times over the next year. (Kamara 19), mariatu proclaims. These occurrences made Mariatu think that Santigie was truly a spirit looking over her. Mariatu contemplating this assumably helped her cope with her issues by thinking that Santigie is in a better place now, looking over her shoulder. An additional traumatic event occured when Mariatu gets attacked by the rebels in her home village. She experiences many people she knows getting not only murdered, but also tortured mentally and physically. And lastly, the virtuous Gary Kirkeby, who played the piano and harpsichord, served as the backbone of all parts of the concert and made this concert very enjoyable. All movements of the song were polyphonic because of the three instruments that had different parts and equal importance. In the first movement, I noticed that the flute tended to rise in pitch. In the second movement, I noticed that the melodies often repeated. Throughout the rest of the song the tempo changed from fast to slow and the flute would usually take the lead. When it comes to network defense, there is never a safe zone where a network is prone to attacks, which is why it is always a good idea to make use of the in depth strategic defense. This is a coordinated use of multiple security countermeasures to protect the integrity of the information assets in an enterprise. This type of defense makes it difficult for an enemy to get into, because of its complex and multilayered defense system (Rouse, 2007). Defense in depth minimizes the probability that the efforts of malicious hackers will succeed. A well designed strategy of this kind can also help system administrators and security personnel identify people who attempt to compromise a computer, server, proprietary network. Some of the things that make up a defense in depth are antivirus software, firewalls, anti spyware, strong passwords, intrusion detecttion, biometrics and much more (Rouse, 2007). The first thing that comes to mind in designing an in depth defense network is access control and authentications. Which means that we will be dealing with firewalls, which will be used to protect the servers, segments and subnets. This first step will establish an industrial demilitarization zone,

Over the past two decades people all over the world have become closer than before. Goods and services that appear in a country will be immediately promoted in the others. This phenomenon is called globalisation. Globalisation at its simplest can be seen as the increase of international trade and services, the greater movement of labour and capital flows, the improvement in communication and transport as well as the growth of multi national companies. The impact of globalisation on developing countries varies. Some think that it is a good process which helps to reduce poverty and inequality and others like Nelson Mandela see it as Where globalisation means, as it so often does, that the rich and powerful now have new means to further enrich and empower themselves at the cost of the poorer and weaker . In other words, globalisation served just the developed countries. A developing country is a nation with a lower standard of living, underdeveloped industrial base and low human development index. A good example of developing country is China. We will see the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats that globalisation has presented to China. One of the strengths globalisation has presented to certain developing countries is the fact that it has taken them out of poverty. Indeed, China has become an industrialised country due to its cheap labour.

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The harshness of Antigone s outlook is emphasised by Anouilh yet again when he has her say that Oedipus only became beautiful when all hope was gone, stamped out like a beetle [Passage A, line 26]. The violent nature of this simile reinforces Antigone s strong belief in the value self renunciation. Simultaneously, it emphasizes that the majority of ordinary citizens blindly follow the dictates of Creon s government and his pedestrian mode of thought, aiming for nothing more than the contentment of getting on with their lives. Repellent natural imagery is further utilized to distinguish Antigone s higher aims from those of Creon and all those who are attached to life at any cost: You [Creon] are all like dogs that lick everything they smell [Passage A, line 7]. This degrades Creon and his followers or fellow Collaborators to mere animals in that they live by their animalistic impulses, most of all the will to live, rather than upon any higher aim. This implies that pragmatism requires minimal thought or emotional effort, while idealism on the other hand, demands a powerful self control that can sublimate the animal will to live, and requires an advanced intellectual and emotional level. The Rebellion Of The Jamaica On October 11, 1865, Paul Bogle and a group of free blacks marched into Morant Bay protesting a local trail, which resulted in a full scale uprising that caused deaths and destruction. Free blacks had economic troubles and little to power in colonial society because of their limited access to resources. By July 8, 1865, the Jamaica Guardian captured the people s discontent with Governor Edward John Eyre, who served as British official on the island. In this message of discontent, the people call for his removal because of his weak, vacillating, and undignified character and conduct. The people became quite discontent with the British official because of his actions regarding the Morant Bay Rebellion. He responded to the rebellion with force and violence by declaring martial law in Surrey County and accused George William Gordon, a free black businessman, of being part of the rebellion that led to death. This whirlwind of events caused many to question Eyre s leadership and led to the establishment of the Jamaica Committee, a group of men from England. This group wanted to imprison the governor for his actions, but their actions led to his removal from office. This event created much havoc and chaos in England and Jamaica because it disturbed the British masses, which questioned the effectiveness of colonial rule after the Sepoy Munity of 1857. The cases received a large amount of political and public attention because two schools of thought existed in the debate. One

George Rousseau And Jean Jacques Rousseau Essay The concept of Liberty can be very complex when trying to define it, one of the reasons for that is that no one seems to agree on what it means to be free. There is the connotation of the word Liberty which is Freedom from captivity imprisonment, slavery, or despotic control. (566 Oxford Dictionary) but Liberty is often portrayed as more than just that. When looking at the past, Liberty is an interesting concept, considering the social structure at the time and how the king and the church had so much power. A lot changed with the French Revolution and the abolishment of the French monarchy but let us take a look a few years before that, where two great minds of this time had their own opinion of Liberty an how to achieve it. Denis Diderot and Jean Jacques Rousseau are two of the original Romantics; they both brought new ideas to the world and tried to change it.
