Food Stamp Program Benefits
The food stamp program was instituted to ensure that people are no longer are going hungry in
America. Since The Food Stamp Act came into effect in the year 1964. Obesity seems to be more
prevalent in participants of this food program. Obesity does not discriminate, although it does appear
to affect lower income women that participate in the Food Stamp Program. As written by Gibson
(2008) Participation in the Food Stamp Program by low income women was associated with a 9.0%
increase in the probability of current obesity (as cited by Zhu,Yen,Eastwood, 2005). More people are
inclined to be more obese now than ever before; there are 30% or 6 million of adults that are
categorized as obese in the United States (Collins, 2007). The rate is for ... Show more content on

The opportunities range from taxation of sugar based drinks to educating people only healthy foods. A
few of the options are the following examples. At present, benefits are distributed once a month. One
of the programs that are being discussed are the possibility of dividing up the SNAP benefit payment
to twice a month, As quoted by Bhargava (2004) and Shapiro (2005) To break the food stamp cycle
some researcher propose distributing SNAP benefits more often than the monthly schedule (as quoted
by Richards, Sindelar, 2013). One hope for the indicated would be too encouraging increased fruits
and vegetables to be purchased to produce a healthier eating pattern during the entire month. Hence,
the curbing of high calorie foods are thought to generate obesity. The option also comes with
problems. Some participants have no genuine incentive to improve their eating practices, and in store
purchases and personal influence remain (Richards, Sindelar, 2013). Some participants feel they need
to be rewarded for buying healthy, fresh foods with their snap benefits. An option that would provide
an incentive for every purchase of fresh fruits and vegetables a reimbursement of SNAP cash will be
added to the benefit card. The benefit will be added on toward the end of the month. Giving people the
opportunity to buy additional groceries. Even with this option when the added benefits are placed on
the SNAP the recipients can then proceed to purchase the sugar based drinks of their choice. This
program would not eliminate the purchasing of sugar based

American Family Dynamics
American Family Dynamics
The make up and concept of what was once considered a traditional nuclear family is quickly
disappearing (Timmerman, 2013). According to Jojic, Raj, Wilkins, Treadwell, Caussade Rodriguez,
Blum (2012), Traditional family roles have changed, and the conception of what Americans consider a
family has likewise shifted with differing societal views regarding gender, gender roles, race, and
ethnicity (p. 128). To accompany the changes being made to the customary view of family dynamics,
the family environment has become an influential psychological aspect of this change (Kwiatkowski,
2010). As evidence continues to expand regarding all of the changes that have occurred, exact reasons
regarding the changes are as abundant as the explanations described in the data.
As the proof increases concerning the reasons for the downfall and declination of the traditional
family structure within the United States of America; new indications arise as to the reason for the fall
of the nuclear family. Various studies indicate various reasons for the changes. Social, economical, and
moral changes have taken place within the United States of America over the past few decades. These
changes have altered the traditional family concept and have historicalized the nuclear family.
The structural changes of families within the United States of America have altered due to economic,
political and social changes which have occurred since the mid twentieth century

Does Energy Have To Do With Acid Rain Essay
November 1st 2015
To the federal government:
The purpose behind this letter to you is to inform you with the big issue that is taking place in our
planet, which is the effect of acid rain on lakes and streams (aquatic systems).
Acid rain occurs because of the dissolution of acidic oxides in the atmosphere. When these two
compounds are released into the air, they form acid rain, which are nitrogen oxide and sulfur dioxide S
+ O2 SO2, which is produced by natural means, like volcanoes and industrial processes such as the
burning of fossil fuels (brown coal) C + O2 CO2. The two compounds dissolve in water and are
carried very far by wind where they become part of snow and fog. Oxides from sulfur and nitrogen
react with moisture in the clouds ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though acid rain is a big issue, there are ways it can be prevented. One of the biggest ways acid rain
can be stopped is by lowering your energy consumption. Now you might think, what does energy have
to do with acid rain ? It actually has a big affect. By switching off the lights when you leave a room,
turning off your computers televisions when they aren t being used. Closing the air conditioner/heaters
when you leave your home can make a big difference, because when less electricity is used, the
pollution from power plants decreases. Power plants also known as power station is an electric
generating station
Another way acid rain can be prevented is by using fewer cars! There are so many different ways of
transportation. You can use bikes if you aren t going a long distance, you can use a train, if you live
near a friends house you can car pool, and this all decreases reliance on fossil fuels. Cars also emit
carbon dioxide, which contributes to global warming which is affecting the environment. As the
temperature rises, more rain falls, which increases the risk of heavier flooding. Ice is melting, and that
is dangerous for future sea level rise. Also many countries already have very low water, and when the
climate changes it changes precipitation patterns, and increasing droughts, which is dangerous because
people are running out of water. But a positive impact is that electric cars are better for the
environment because they only use battery power, meaning there is no burning of gasoline or other

Dramatic Irony In The Book Of Job
The Book of Job is a story like none other. A story written so that it combines the elements of a poetic
drama, wisdom literature, and tragedy. The book for the most part is split into two different categories
of literature: prose and poetry. The reader is able to see both sides of the story through the two
elements. While God and the Advisor speak to each other in prose, Job speaks in a poetic dialogue
along with his three friends and wife, the only other characters in the story. With Job s friends, we can
really take in the dramatic irony of the entire story as they try and convince Job he has sinned but as
the reader we know the truth to the matter. The story begins and ends in a narrative prose, which doesn
t necessarily blend seamlessly in to the poetic balance of the story. The reader is taken from a ... Show

We have the privilege of being introduced to all of the characters of the story and we know the
motivations and intentions of each side. We know that Job is suffering not because he has sinned but
because the Advisor wants him to turn away from God. The story becomes more personal to the reader
when we know both sides of the story and we are able to put ourselves in the protagonists shoes and
hope we would do the same as Job did. Job had every right to blame God for allowing his life to fall to
pieces, however he does the opposite. Job continues to worship the Lord and praise His name. Job
states, Naked I came out of my mother s womb, and naked shall I return there. The LORD has given
and the LORD has taken. May the LORD s name be blessed. (Job 194) It s human instinct to place
blame on something to justify what we cannot explain, but Job loses everything and he doesn t blame
God. Job s behavior is inspiring and is even more incredible knowing that he has no idea why this is
happening and does only what he knows to do: worship the

The Earthquake Of India, China, Bangladesh, And Bhutan
On April 25, 2015 the country of Nepal and the surrounding countries of India, China, Bangladesh,
and Bhutan experienced an earthquake with the magnitude of 7.8 (Kumar). The earthquake triggered
an avalanche on Mount Everest killing nineteen people. Another avalanche was triggered in Langtang
Valley a reported two hundred and fifty people are missing. Aftershocks continued well there after one
reaching as high as 6.7. The death toll has not reached well over 7,250 (Kumar). The number of
injured is 14,122. The UN estimates well over three million people need food and other assistance.
Thousands of people have fled the areas especially around Kathmandu fearing aftershocks or trying to
get to family member s homes in remote areas. At one point Nepal was one of the least urbanized
countries in the world (NORMAN). They are now accelerating in the world of urbanization.
Kathmandu and a few other neighboring cities many of buildings are somewhat structurally sound, the
buildings are usually pagoda style and shikhara style (NORMAN). Many of the new buildings are
well maintained, the older residential buildings and smaller temples have fallen into despair

The contagion finally hit South Korea in December of 1997, merely 5 months after the downfall of the
Thai economy. Korea, like Mexico was given a huge bailout, the largest in history of $55 billion. This
move ended the contagion in South East Asia, but left a wake of despair as poverty once again grew in
these developing Asian countries. Although the contagion in Asia was over, it had not yet started in
other parts of the world.
The crisis would hit Russia next, as investors envisioned low risk for an ex super power with lots of
atomic weapons. The investors reasoned that rich countries would surely bail out Russia to avert
instability if a financial crisis arose. The investors were wrong; Russia defaulted on its loans and there
was no bailout from rich nations. The sentiment within the investor community now swung from one
of high risk tolerance to high risk aversion. The crisis would head to America next, when little know
hedge fund LCTM (Long Term Capital Management) neared bankruptcy. LCTM controlled $100
billion in assets and was involved in all markets world wide, including Tokyo, Singapore, London and
Hong Kong. The decline in these world markets caused losses in LCTM to spiral downward.
Contagion had now come to Wall Street. Since LCTM was a private fund, the government could not
bail them out. Fortunately, U.S. banks stepped in and saved LCTM, averting disaster. The

Impact Of The Voting Rights Act Of 1965
The most transformative piece of legislation relating to a minority culture group in America is the
Voting Rights Act of 1965, also known as the VRA. This piece of legislation has nearly 150 years of
history to prove that its affect on minorities, mainly African Americans, has had a major impact on
American civil rights and is still in the spotlight today. The Voting Rights Act of 1965 was signed into
law by President Lyndon B. Johnson on August 6, 1965, and was designed to overcome legal barriers
at both the state and local levels of government that prevented African Americans from exercising
their right to vote. ( Voting Rights Act of 1965 ) The 15th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution ratified
on February 3, 1870 granted African American men the right to vote declaring that the right of citizens
of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on
account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude. (Primary Documents...) Sadly, the promise
of the 15th Amendment was not realized for nearly a century because of government use of poll taxes,
literacy tests and other means used by the Southern states to disenfranchise African Americans. The
passing of the VRA helped completely change history giving African American citizens a voice.
Beginning with the passing of the 15th Amendment in 1869, minority voting rights has had a lengthy
history in America. In 1896, Louisiana grandfather clauses kept former slaves and

Persuasive Speech On Horse Slaughter
Every little girl dreams of having a horse, but what do you do with that horse when he is too old to be
rode and he struggles to come in and eat his grain? Most likely you don t have the heart to put him
down yourself, and to have him euthanized costs so much, but are there any other options? Yes, there
is one more option, that is horse slaughter. Don t be afraid of it just because you hear the word
slaughter, the horses are treated well and they are put down humanely. Horse slaughter is a big
controversy in the United States, and there are many people that are against it, but I m here to tell you
why everyone should be for horse slaughter. Horse slaughter is something that is needed and not
something that is evil. Today I m going to tell you about why everyone should be for horse slaughter
and how it can help to control the horse population, help stimulate the economy and help feed people
that are starving. First, horse slaughter can help control the horse population. By taking horses to
slaughter then people can sell their unwanted, dangerous, and old horses. Now there are many of you
that might say they could also just be euthanized, but this would cost the owners a fortune. If they sell
their horse to a slaughter house, then the owner no longer has the dangerous horse and he also made
money instead of losing money. Since the United States Banned horse slaughter then abandonment
and neglect have in increased by 50% according to Alison Rowe attorney at law s office. The

Lumber Company Limited s ( Dawson ) request for an increase in its line of credit up to the amount of
$10.8mm. Dawson intends to finance inventory and receivables with the line of credit. NBC must
remain cognizant of the competitive landscape of the lumber industry and assess whether a focus on
the retail segment is beneficial to Dawson s strategic plan. Given that Dawson is one of the region s
largest borrowers, NBC must be careful in how it manages this relationship. The Bank cannot afford

An expected decline in lumber prices would suggest a reduction in forecasted lumber sales beyond
1999. Increased competition from large chains also poses a threat to Dawson s retail sales projections
and margins. In light of the industry outlook for both sectors, Dawson s capital expenditure projection
of $1.1mm (1.9% and 2.4% of expected sales from lumber and retail, respectively) appears to be low,
considering the average of both industries. This suggests that Dawson may eventually fall behind its
competitors as a higher proportion of investment is required in both manufacturing and operations
technology for Dawson to maintain a competitive advantage. Despite the above, NBC s main concern
surrounds Dawson s projections to further increase its already high levels of inventory when compared
with the competition. While Dawson may view the need to provide high quality service to differentiate
itself from its competitors, $24mm appears inflated and counter to management s previous strategic
goals to stabilize the company through improvements in inventory and yard operations. Days of
inventory, days of receivables and days of payables have actually worsened over the past year . If this
continues, Dawson will continually be short of access to the WK required to support its operating

Ki Teitzei Research Paper
Hello and Thank you for coming to my bar mitzvah it means a lot that you are all here. I will be
talking about my torah portion Ki Teitzei which is about the commandments that Moses was giving at
the end of his life. The commandments covered many different topics from cheating to inheritance.
One thing that stood out to me in my torah portion was the commandment about dealing with difficult
children. In the torah it says that if a family has a wayward and defiant son who is bad even after
being disciplined. The parents together must take their son to the town s elders, and say This son of
ours is disloyal and defiant; he does not heed us. He is a glutton and a drunkard. Then if all of this

Why would God want to hurt us? Why would God want parents to kill their own children? It says in
the Mishnah, that if you kill one person, it is as if you are destroying the entire world, and if you save
one person, you are saving the entire world. So commanding parents and communities to kill their
rebellious children is like asking them to destroy the entire world. The rabbis who wrote the Mishnah,
also did not like this commandment. As they explained the details, they made it very specific, so that it
could never actually happen. First they restrict it by age: it only applies from a person s 13th birthday,
until three months after that. So for me, I have two more days until I am safe from being stoned for
being a stubborn and rebellious son. Then they restrict it so that it only applies to sons, and not
daughters. They explain the Torah to mean that the son has to eat meat and wine, no other food or
drink counts. They measure out an outrageous amount of meat and wine he has to eat and drink to be
deemed a glutton and a drunkard. I think that it is wrong to cover up this part of the

Existentialism In No Exit
Existentialism concentrates on human existence and an individual discovering their meaning and
purpose in life. It involves free will and the ability to make choices, while taking responsibility for the
outcomes of those decisions. Existentialism is composed of five different elements, which are
authenticity, angst, anxiety, freedom, and absurdity. In Jean Paul Sartre s play titled No Exit , the
multiple elements of existentialism are portrayed through the characters; Garcin, Estelle, and Inez.
One of the elements of existentialism that is present in No Exit is absurdity. Garcin finds himself in
complete disbelief when he realizes that hell is absolutely nothing like the depiction that is given on
earth. In the play, he states So this is hell. I d never have believed it. You remember all we were told
about were the torture chambers, the fire and brimstone... Instead of the common belief that hell is
nothing but a fire pit of agony, Garcin finds it to be just as normal as life on earth. ... Show more

When asked what season of the year, you would arrive at the conclusion that it is winter. Availability
Heuristics is when we base a conclusion or decision on the first thing that comes to mind (Roberts,
2006). For example, if you were asked what disease affects cigarette smokers most often? The first
thing that comes to our mind is cancer because it is the disease that is spoken of most often in
association with cigarettes. However, according to the American Heart Association (2008) heart
disease affects cigarette smokers more often than cancer. Framing is risk aversive problem solving

`` Animal Liberation `` By Richard Ryder
To start with, The term Animal Rights did not emerge until the late 1970 s, according to Encyclopedia
Britannica. In Particular, Richard Ryder, a British Psychologist, expressed his boldest ideas, but in
order to get his word out around the world he needed assistance from one of the top Australian
philosophers, Peter Singer. Singer published numerous of notable books such as Animal liberation
which described in vivid detail, the grueling agony animals had to suffer. In fact, Pete Singer got his
inspiration for his book Animal liberation from his view on utilitarianism, the belief that a morally
good action is one that helps the greatest number of people and animals. Indeed, the phrase Animal

Persuasive Essay On Online Identity
Online Identities
Edward Snowden once said, Arguing that you don t care about the right to privacy because you have
nothing to hide is no different than saying you don t care about free speech because you have nothing
to say (Snowden). Even in America, land of the free , our ability to hide our identities is threatened
daily. The people of the world must protect their right to be anonymous on the internet.
Large corporations have a lot to gain by deanonymizing the internet. Consumer s lives are becoming
increasingly dependent on internet connected cell phones, laptops, cars, refrigerators, heart monitors
and other household appliances. After consumers sign the terms of service, corporations, such as
Facebook and Google, can use these devices to collect information about their users. That information
could include Google search history, location history, or in some cases heart rate (Maras).
Corporations then use this information to develop and advertise products to these consumers. In
response to this disregard for privacy, consumers have turned to anonymizing services such as The
Onion Router and Virtual Private Networks to protect their identities (Winkler). But Corporations,
which are largely invested in the ability to gather statistics on their users, are proposing that all forms
of anonymity should be eliminated.
A healthy democracy is dependent on the idea that news and information can be spread without fear of
persecution. People who dedicate their time to

J. R. R. Tolkien s Influence On The Hobbit
The Hobbit, written by J.R.R. Tolkien, is a children s fantasy novel (though the series The Lord of the
Rings that followed its story was more tuned to adults) that was first published in 1937. When it was
first released, it received critical acclaim from millions of readers, and it was eventually nominated for
the Carnegie Medal and won Best Juvenile Fiction from the New York Herald Tribune. However,
despite its success, the most enduring trait of the novel is its connection with readers throughout
generations that has inspired countless authors and readers. Most people know the story of The
Hobbit, so in this essay, we will explore the creation of this beloved literary work.

William Morris, who was a 19th century English poet, translator, and creative genius, was a
significant figure to Tolkien. In fact, Tolkien desired to write more in Morris romantic style. In
particular, a chapter named The Desolation of Smaug was directly influenced by Morris style and
ideas (The Letters of J.R.R. Tolkien). Another writer that left an impression on Tolkien was Samuel
Rutherford Crockett. His historical novel The Black Douglas and its villain Gilles de Retz inspired
The Hobbit s evil character Sauron. It is said the narrative style and even the events in both The
Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings were influenced by The Black Douglas (Lobdell, Jared C.). The
goblins within The Hobbit are closely associated with the goblins in the novel The Princess and the
Goblin by George MacDonald. In addition, MacDonald impressed upon Tolkien the role of fantasy in
the context of Christianity (J. R. R. Tolkien Encyclopedia: Scholarship and Critical Assessment).
Another key influence on The Hobbit is Tolkien s adoration of Norse mythology and Germanic
philology. Not only are many myths from Norse mythology adapted into The Hobbit, the names of the
characters have a distinct Old Norse feel to them (Rateliff, John D.). And speaking of characters, the
dwarves were modeled after ancient Jewish people and their history (Rateliff, John D.). Last but not
least, the epic Beowulf was the main inspiration behind the world Tolkien wanted to create. As
Tolkien was a respected scholar of Beowulf, The Hobbit was in part a tribute to the epic and a

The Medications She Takes For Her Mental Health Essay
I interviewed Susan on September 9, 2016 about the medications she takes for her mental health.
Susan is a 45 year old female. She has one daughter Hannah, age 16. Susan and Hannah s father were
divorced when Hannah was three years old. Hannah currently lives with Susan during the week and
visits her father, who lives about an hour away, every other weekend, some holidays, and several
weeks during the summer. Susan lives in Simi Valley and works full time in West Los Angeles to
support herself and daughter. Susan takes two psychopharmacology drugs for her mental health. The
first is a 20 mg fluoxetine (Prozac) pill which she takes once a day in the morning to help with her
depression. The second is a 1 mg Lorazepam (Ativan) pill which she takes for stress when needed.
She usually takes half a Lorazepam pill three to four times a week when she experiences anxiety and
chest pain. Rarely does she need to take Lorazepam during the day.
Susan started taking these medications approximately thirteen years ago, a couple years after she
divorced her husband. While married she had an extremely unhealthy relationship with her husband
and his family and she basically did slave labor for his family s carpet cleaning business for ten years.
Shortly after the divorce her ex husband remarried a woman who made Susan and Hannah s life
miserable. The new wife constantly threatened to take Susan to court to get custody of Hannah. She
was verbally abusive to Susan including calling her a

The Assessment Of The Journals For Week 2 3

The strengths of the experimental designs are: it has randomized controlled and real life studies. Next,

laid on HIV/AIDS, weight loss, or fat intake. Moreover, the strengths outlined with quasi experimental
designs are a part of the pre test and post test in clinics for women and children nutrition. Furthermore,
the population becomes more responsive to fat reduction if someone takes the initiative. According to

The reminder of this film made me realize that this tactic can cause psychological damage and horror
to the persons subjected to such experiments. Second, according to Hoff, Gregorich, Grinstead (2008),
limitations were generalized only to women attending family clinics. Because of use of clinics in the
trial study, an oversample might have occurred with regard to those whose interests were in female
initiated barrier needs. Third, the accuracy of data might have been compromised by reliance on self
reports (pg. 7). This study of limitations showed that women who used or did not use condoms may or
may not have increased safe sex practices with men. Third, experimental design limitation described
by VanWormer, Martinez, Benson, Crain found that generalization of countries may appear to have
differences in sampling approaches. Next, external validity might affect the internal validity of the
conclusion. Afterward, standardized procedures seem to show some difference between countries that
could not control (10). A sampling of surveys found that social economics and psychological factors
were important factors, but bigger contributions such as age, gender, socioeconomic, and education
levels affected the results significantly depending on certain factors. Finally, Vilarruel, Cherry,

A Separate Peace Theme
To know oneself and to be accepting of oneself is a journey, that prepares one to enter a friendship. In
a true friendship, it is inevitable that trials and tribulations will come. If the bond is strong enough to
withstand the whims of jealousy and insecurity that may arise, then it can develop a closer
relationship. Even the strongest of friendship, when faced with conflict, can suffer regret and guilt.
John Knowles A separate peace and Khaled Hosseini s The kite runner reveals the universal truth that

Introduction
The term SME is commonly used to refer to Small and Medium sized Enterprises. The term covers a
variety of definitions as well as measures. However, in most of the various definitions of what is an
SME, employment is the most widely used criterion for categorizing the size of the firm. Moreover,
SMEs are often defined as businesses with fewer than 500 employees. However, a number of
countries, including some in the European Union use a lower cutoff of 250 employees. SMEs are
important in the economy because they have some unique benefits to the economy chief among these
being employment and job creation among others. The following discussion explores the impact of
SME to the economy, especially in regards to employment and the creation of jobs among others.

A tactic is a means by which a strategy is implemented. For each of your company s objectives you
need to come up with possible strategies to achieve them. You then need to write tactics for each of the
functional areas of your firm to implement those strategies. For example, your objective might be to
increase sales revenue by 20% over the next three years. You then might formulate three strategies, a
general price increase of 10% for all of your products, an increase in marketing budgets, a new
product launch. Each functional area will then need a series of tactics to implement each year for the
next three years. For example in year one your marketing tactics might be to implement the 10% price
rise and to increase TV advertising expenditure by 20%.
Developing a Product Strategy
The company President has given you complete freedom to manage your firm s product. However
they have recommended that you choose to initially implement one of three product strategies:
A) HIGH PRICE, LOWER VOLUME
Increase your price by up to 10% (i.e. $550 $605) and increase your Product
Promotion expenditure by $500,000 $1,000,000.
B) MEDIUM PRICE, MEDIUM VOLUME
Change your price by less than 1% (i.e. $545 $555), and increase your Product
Promotion expenditure by $250,000 $500,000.
C) LOW PRICE, HIGHER VOLUME
Decrease your price by up to 5% (i.e. $522 $550) and increase your Product

people criticized her for her looks. Hence, she forcibly adapted to her surroundings like a chameleon.

Analysis Of Raising The Flag On Iwo Jima
First, there is hidding meaning in terms of iconographical layer in both of the two pictures. Raising the
Flag on Iwo Jima is a picture released on 1945, by Joe Rosenthal. It is portraying about five a United
States Navy and United States Marines corpsman raising an U.S. flag at the top of Suribachi Mount,
after the Battle on Iwo Jima island during World War II. The photograph was very famous and
popular, to the extent that it had being reprinted thousand times in that period of time. The five
soldiers in the picture is representing the American navy who engaged in the war against Japan taking
place in the Iwo Jima an island in Pacific Ocean which is referring to the bundle of land the soldiers
are standing on. The scene about five soldiers climbing a hill raising the American Flag, amidst rubble
is here the signifier, which implied the secondary level of meaning. For the meaning being signified is
the strength and power of these soldiers to climb to the top and represent pride for their country (by
raising the flag over Iwo Jima, it can reflect American s victory and s of the war). And more
importantly, there are also a myth conveyed implicitly by this picture. The myth in this picture seems
to be in this way: America is a powerful leading international nation that can defeat all the enemies
who try to turn againt her.

The Two Accounts of Creation in Genesis
When God began to create heaven and earth, and the earth then was welter and waste and darkness
over the deep and God s breath hovering er the waters, God said, Let there be light (The Hebrew Bible
94). This is how readers have always started out studying the Bible. Little did they know there was an
entirely different account of creation just a little ways down from the first account they see in Genesis.
So, is there really two different accounts of God creating the Earth in the Bible? Some people believe
yes, others believe, no. Throughout this essay I will be taking a deeper look into the two accounts of
creation by comparing and contrasting the time periods, accounts of vegetation, and the animal life
that God created. The Bible can be a tricky piece of literature to read, but I am going to break it down
to view the accounts in a more in depth view.
In the beginning of Genesis we are introduced to God and he is beginning to make the Earth as we
know it today. The first book of Genesis discusses the way God just had to speak and his words would
bring life to the planet. Genesis 1 takes us on a journey through all six days of creation. Throughout
the six days God manages to create the heavens and the earth, the sky, land, stars, all the creatures that
live in the water, and all the creatures that inhabit the land. Genesis 2 starts out telling us about what

Mobile Phones And Its Impact On The World
Today, almost everything is done digitally either on laptops or mobile phones (smartphones), from
online shopping to online banking. These little things have become one amongst the most important
things to survive. Mobile phones have become ubiquitous; you can find a fifth grade kid with a
smartphone. There are more than a billion smartphones in the market and six billion mobile phone
subscriptions. With the rapid development of smartphones, things like watches, radios, cameras,
calculators and so on are fading out of the market. In the near future, we might be giving up our
leather wallet for a digital wallet.
Digital Wallets are not new; in fact, the first was released about four years ago. Since then, many other
companies have followed the same path, creating their own versions with their own unique features.
Apple, Google, Samsung, and PayPal all quickly developed a digital wallet, most compatible with all
smartphones with the exception of Apple and Samsung. Both Apple and Samsung only allow their
digital wallets, Apple Pay and Samsung Pay, to be used on the smartphones and smartwatches their
companies develop. However, all of these mobile payment systems use the same technology to pass
credentials, near field communication (NFC) readers, with one exception, Samsung Pay.
Samsung Pay still uses NFC readers, but it also uses magnetic secure transmission (MST), which
means that Samsung Pay will work with all types of point of sale (POS) devices (old and new). This is

In every story there is always a mysterious character that the author does not provide enough

is that character. He is preceded as the antagonist character that is uncivilized, cruel, and reckless.
General Zaroff plays the role of a dynamic and complex character that develops over the course of the

the strong. The weak of the world were put here to give the strong pleasure. I am strong. Why should I

unjust. While some women try and object the status quo, others accept it and continue on with their

The Tabernacle Of Moses
The ancient tabernacle of Moses was a sacred and holy place for the people of Israel. It served as a
tool for the people to remember God and to look forward to their promised Messiah. The tabernacle
was so integral to the lives of the Israelites that they even built the tabernacle in the center of their
encampments during their journeys (Yom Kippur). The tabernacle also served many purposes for the
Israelites in their rituals, ceremonies, and beliefs of their religion. Many practices that the ancient
Israelites performed in and for the tabernacle anciently, may seem peculiar to the modern thought
process or many beliefs today. The main focus of the tabernacle was the day of Yom Kippur, or Day of
Atonement. On this day, the Israelites would gather and watch as a high priest performed the rituals in
the tabernacle that would rid the sins of the people of Israel. This day and ceremony was a very
important aspect to Israelites beliefs and the tabernacle was the main tool for their ceremonies. The
tabernacle and the day of Yom Kippur served many purposes in helping the Israelites to remember
their God, learn from symbols, and to help them strive to obey their God s commandments.
To be able to understand the symbols and rituals that the Israelites did in the tabernacle, a knowledge
of the tabernacle s history, and specific instructions must be understood. In Mariuce Schmidt s book,

Alleluia O Virga Mediatrix
The piece that will be discussed in this essay will be Alleluia, O Virga Mediatrix by Hildegard of
Bingen. Alleluia, O Virga Mediatrix is from the Medieval Era which started in 450 and ended in 1450,
so the era is about a thousand years long. But the period is split into two. First would be the early
Middle Ages, which can be considered awful. The other half of this era would be the late Middle Ages
(950 1450) and was ruled by an absolute monarch by the name of Charlemagne. (742 814)
Now, what was to be considered the religion of this time was Christianity which basically ruled over
any other religion. There were four Christian cities including Istanbul, Rome, Paris, and Crymea.
Religion during these times was a very big deal and the church

Winnie Foster s Short Story
This is the story of Winnie Foster. But not the story you know from Tuck Everlasting. This is an
alternate ending, where Winnie decides to wait until she is seventeen, drink the water, and live forever.
My story picks up right before Winnie pours the spring water over the toad in the original story.
And then, on an impulse, she turned and ran into the cottage, up to her room, to the bureau drawer
where she had hidden Jesse s bottle the bottle of water from the spring. In a moment she was back
again. The toad still squatted where she dropped it, the dog still waited at the fence. Winnie pulled the
cork out of the bottle, then hesitated. Should she really waste this precious water on a toad? Sure, he
was her toad, but he was just ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jesse might be on his way to the house and find us waiting for him, MIles countered. The ground is
plenty soft and we can all sleep on it.
After much back and forth debating and giggling from Winnie and Tuck over how it doesn t matter
where they sleep, Tuck and Miles decided on the ground, but only if they could sleep closer to the
house in case Jesse really was coming home. Winnie said goodnight in her head, mentally sending the
message out to both her family and Jesse. It was awhile before Winnie could fall asleep on the cold
ground, but the next thing she knew, she was being awakened to the sound of her own name being
whispered to her.
Winnie Foster, A familiar voice spoke softly in her ear. Winnie opened her eyes to the best sight she
had seen in years. Jesse had found them!
Jesse! she whispered, her voice as loud as his.
Hey there, Winnie Foster, he returned with a grin. Shall we wake everyone else up? he gestured to
Miles, Tuck and Mae sleeping close together on the moist earth.
We shall. she answered, grinning from ear to ear.
After telling his story, Jesse s cheek suddenly turned red, and he dropped to one knee, took Winnie s
hand in his, and asked, Winnie, will you marry me now that you re

Effects Of Sodium Chloride On Thikistrodesmus Algae Growth
Title
Sodium Chloride Acts as Environmental Pollutant by Prohibiting Ankistrodesmus Algae Growth
Introduction
Pollution negatively effects an organism s growth because it introduces harmful chemicals or products
that cause damage to its environment. The environmental pollution experiment that was performed
tested the effects of pollutants, more specifically sodium chloride, on Ankistrodesmus, which is a
species of fresh water algae. The experiment investigated the effects of different concentrations of
sodium chloride to examine if it promoted or suppressed Ankistrodesmus growth. The importance of
this experiment was to determine if sodium chloride could be classified as a pollutant for this species
of algae. Experiments conducted in 1968 show ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Data collected over a period of two weeks indicates that sodium chloride prohibits Ankistrodesmus
growth since optical density measurements of each test tube were recorded in a table as well as graph
(Figures 1 and 2). The data shown in this table and graph show that although the Ankistrodesmus
algae grew slightly at some points, overall it decreased in optical density, which means sodium
chloride prevented its growth. This conclusion can also be drawn from the average net gain/losses of
optical densities table and graph. The data collected indicates that the Ankistrodesmus grew more in
the 50% sodium chloride solution, which was treatment group 3 (Figure 4). However, this cannot be
acknowledged since Day 14 s test tube readings were taken using another group s setup.
Consequently, only readings from Day 0 and Day 7 are accurate and usable. Even though treatment
group 3 s data is unreliable it s only one result and accounting this group still leaves treatment groups
1 and 2. By comparing treatment groups 1 and 2 to the control group one can easily conclude that the
optical densities of the two treatment groups decrease (Figures 3 and 4). This indicates that as the
concentrations of sodium chloride increases then the overall growth of algae decreases. Therefore, one
can conclude that from the readings sodium chloride prohibits Ankistrodesmus algae

The Dark Tower II: The Drawing of the Three, by Stephen King
The second tale in the epic series The Dark Tower begins with a signature Stephen King prologue; all
goes to hell in the protagonist s world before the book even properly starts. In the case of The Dark
Tower, said protagonist role is filled by none other than Roland Deschain, the wild west gunslinger
from a postapocalyptic world (currently Mid World ) not unlike our own. Roland begins the tale alone,
his most recent companion a prepubescent boy, John Jake Chambers, from our own New York set in
1977 dead, and sacrificed by none other than Roland himself. Even though such a decision was
necessary, and ka (destiny or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He s close to death, and unsure how he is going to manage completing his task. Seldom has the
gunslinger come across harder times, and even less often to blame on none other than his own
thoughtlessness. Regardless, one must go on, and so he does, opening the door to Gods only know
what kind of world, awaiting his task.
This door leads to the mind of Eddie Dean, a heroin addict also from our New York, 1986. Eddie is in
the middle of attempting to smuggle pounds of cocaine through an airport, to exchange for large
amounts of heroin. Roland s understanding stretches as far as nobody is supposed to know what Eddie
has strapped under his shirt. Roland however, is close to death himself, and manages to use Eddie to
get food and a bottle of water back to his own world. Later he also brings Eddie into his world while
everyone on the plane thinks he went to the bathroom. They hide the cocaine there temporarily, and
Eddie returns to the plane clean as a whistle, and manages to pass customs.
Eddie makes it to his exchange point, and tells the mob boss he can produce the cocaine and explain
why he was late, as long as he has privacy for just a second. Henchmen give Eddie a full cavity search
to be sure, and then send him into the nearest bathroom to do whatever he thinks he s

Analysis Of Singing In The Rain
Singin In The Rain Critique 2 (Theatre) The stage adaptation of the renowned motion picture, Singin
In The Rain, is currently featuring out of the Zach Theatre in Austin, TX. Based on the 1952 film
starring Gene Kelly and Debby Reynolds, it is regarded as one of the greatest musicals in history. The
screenplay seemed to be based verbatim on that of the original picture s. Prior to my investment of the
act, it was evident that this production had great expectations to meet, and it would be a challenge to
align with these standards and capture the essence and imagery of the original. Zach Theatre s
production exceeds this quality, and delivers righteously, tastefully recreating the legendary picture.
The direction, choreography, and acting did not spare difficulties, and there was enough invention to
bring this old time production into the modern age to intrigue and entertain those of all ages. The
actors impeccably resembled the original ensemble and characters, which immortalized each song and
dance, as most would have remembered it. Luke Hawkins, who portrayed Don Lockwood, carried the
cast with his perfected impersonation and tactical movements, combining elements of tap and swing.
Supporting Hawkins, portraying Cosmo Brown and Kathy Selden, were Sasha Hutchings and Blake
Spellacy. All were a joy to watch and indefinitely provided the audience with the required ambience,
aura, and appeal that would be a cultivation of that glamorous appeal. The modern Don, Kathy, and

Hyperthermia And Hypothermia Research Paper
Summary 2:
Hyperthermia and Hypothermia
If your body gains heat at a faster rate than it can lose heat you will get hyperthermia. Fever;
anaesthesia; hot conditions and hard exercise can cause this to happen.
The body has systems to control its temperature at normal levels which react in hot conditions but in
prolonged hot humid conditions you can get heat exhaustion. The systems are unable to control
normal levels and heavy sweating will cause dehydration; low blood pressure; low blood volume and
an increase in heart rate. People with heat exhaustion usually feel cool to the touch because of all the
sweating. They will also feel weak; dizzy and sick. Moving to a cooler place; resting muscles and
drinking fluids will help this condition.

Importance Of School Counseling
According to the American School Counselor Association (ASCA), Today s school counselors are
vital members of the education team. They help all students in the areas of academic achievement,
personal/social development and career development, ensuring today s students become the
productive, well adjusted adults of tomorrow (2017). The definition of a school counselor has changed
throughout the years. There has been a shift from guidance/vocational counseling to a more well
rounded approach. Moving from guidance to counseling, means different job duties and educational
obstacles. Not only do the job responsibilities include career development, social/emotional
development, and academic achievement; included in this change is focus on student s mental health.
With the advancement of this career to the mental health field, comes with educating stakeholders on
the difference. One way to do this is by producing evidence that counseling techniques work in a
language that most stakeholders understand: academics. The money a public school receives correlates
largely with achievement. If the students do well academically, the school becomes more attractive.
Salaries are better; therefore, more qualified teachers apply and communities become more enticing to
tax paying citizens. Just the opposite, schools that perform poorly academically have higher poverty
level, lower teacher experience, and less money paid per student by the state in which it resides. All of

The Success Of An Overseas Business Venture
When a company is conducting business internationally, understanding the culture of the country or
region, it is doing business with, as well as making sure the business fits the culture where it is doing
business, is extremely important. Not understanding the culture could mean that the product or service
affects the competitiveness, marketing, and could even have some political ramifications. An
understanding of the country s language, attitudes and beliefs, religion, material culture, social
education, legal characteristics, and political structures can have a positive impact on the success of an
overseas business venture. In order to run a successful international business, a business manager must
also become a student of culture and diversity. Before choosing a global market to sell a product or
service, a company needs to make sure that the product or service is a good fit for the culture. It is
important to know if the product or service is something that the culture of the country would need or
want. As an example, if a company sells cowboy hats, they are not likely to be very successful in a
country where the culture and religion requires the people to wear turbans. Knowing the culture and
its religions is important when choosing a country for as a global market. To be successful, a company
will want to know that its product or service will sell, and being successful in the United States does
not necessarily mean that a product or service will do well in other

The Health Disparities In The Hispanic Population
The information cited in this paper provides an insight into the health disparities that exist in the
Hispanic population. It shows that Hispanics have increased rates of health problems when compared
to other racial groups in the United States. These disparities have been shown to be connected to
socioeconomic status. The information cited in this paper show that Hispanics have lower
socioeconomic status than whites and their low socioeconomic status is implicated as a risk factor for
health status. Furthermore, Hispanics face increased barriers to accessing care, receive poorer quality
care, and ultimately experience worse health outcomes. For example, Hispanics have higher morbidity
rates for diabetes, obesity, cancer, asthma and proliferative

depicted below:
New business process and business integration solution
For the Microsoft team brining the revolutionary Xbox 360 to the marketplace, the new supply chain
process shaved one full day off the time needed to identify and correct errors in the supply and
manufacturing chain. That s an especially big gain in the case of the Xbox, for which the entire
manufacturing process is outsourced.
A one day increase in responsiveness is huge in outsourced manufacturing , says Robert Meshew, IT
Systems group program manager in the Microsoft Home and Entertainment division. It means you
have the time to respond to problems, potentially saving thousands of dollars in unnecessary air
freight and expediting costs .
The new business process and integration tool also offered real time visibility into its extensive
manufacturing process, including tracking inventory, handling billing and monitoring vendor
performance for on time delivery and other measures. The system was fast, reduced errors and
improved efficiency.
Visibility into production of Graphics processing unit enabled Microsoft to react instantly to the
console manufacturers needs. The partner interface process

  • 2. Food Stamp Program Benefits The food stamp program was instituted to ensure that people are no longer are going hungry in America. Since The Food Stamp Act came into effect in the year 1964. Obesity seems to be more prevalent in participants of this food program. Obesity does not discriminate, although it does appear to affect lower income women that participate in the Food Stamp Program. As written by Gibson (2008) Participation in the Food Stamp Program by low income women was associated with a 9.0% increase in the probability of current obesity (as cited by Zhu,Yen,Eastwood, 2005). More people are inclined to be more obese now than ever before; there are 30% or 6 million of adults that are categorized as obese in the United States (Collins, 2007). The rate is for ... At present, benefits are distributed once a month. One of the programs that are being discussed are the possibility of dividing up the SNAP benefit payment to twice a month, As quoted by Bhargava (2004) and Shapiro (2005) To break the food stamp cycle some researcher propose distributing SNAP benefits more often than the monthly schedule (as quoted by Richards, Sindelar, 2013). One hope for the indicated would be too encouraging increased fruits and vegetables to be purchased to produce a healthier eating pattern during the entire month. Hence, the curbing of high calorie foods are thought to generate obesity. The option also comes with problems. Some participants have no genuine incentive to improve their eating practices, and in store purchases and personal influence remain (Richards, Sindelar, 2013). Some participants feel they need to be rewarded for buying healthy, fresh foods with their snap benefits. An option that would provide an incentive for every purchase of fresh fruits and vegetables a reimbursement of SNAP cash will be added to the benefit card. The benefit will be added on toward the end of the month. Giving people the opportunity to buy additional groceries. Even with this option when the added benefits are placed on the SNAP the recipients can then proceed to purchase the sugar based drinks of their choice. This program would not eliminate the purchasing of sugar based ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. American Family Dynamics American Family Dynamics The make up and concept of what was once considered a traditional nuclear family is quickly disappearing (Timmerman, 2013). According to Jojic, Raj, Wilkins, Treadwell, Caussade Rodriguez, Blum (2012), Traditional family roles have changed, and the conception of what Americans consider a family has likewise shifted with differing societal views regarding gender, gender roles, race, and ethnicity (p. 128). To accompany the changes being made to the customary view of family dynamics, the family environment has become an influential psychological aspect of this change (Kwiatkowski, 2010). As evidence continues to expand regarding all of the changes that have occurred, exact reasons regarding the changes are as abundant as the explanations described in the data. As the proof increases concerning the reasons for the downfall and declination of the traditional family structure within the United States of America; new indications arise as to the reason for the fall of the nuclear family. Various studies indicate various reasons for the changes. Social, economical, and moral changes have taken place within the United States of America over the past few decades. These changes have altered the traditional family concept and have historicalized the nuclear family. The structural changes of families within the United States of America have altered due to economic, political and social changes which have occurred since the mid twentieth century ... • 4. Does Energy Have To Do With Acid Rain Essay November 1st 2015 To the federal government: The purpose behind this letter to you is to inform you with the big issue that is taking place in our planet, which is the effect of acid rain on lakes and streams (aquatic systems). Acid rain occurs because of the dissolution of acidic oxides in the atmosphere. When these two compounds are released into the air, they form acid rain, which are nitrogen oxide and sulfur dioxide S + O2 SO2, which is produced by natural means, like volcanoes and industrial processes such as the burning of fossil fuels (brown coal) C + O2 CO2. The two compounds dissolve in water and are carried very far by wind where they become part of snow and fog. Oxides from sulfur and nitrogen react with moisture in the clouds ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Though acid rain is a big issue, there are ways it can be prevented. One of the biggest ways acid rain can be stopped is by lowering your energy consumption. Now you might think, what does energy have to do with acid rain ? It actually has a big affect. By switching off the lights when you leave a room, turning off your computers televisions when they aren t being used. Closing the air conditioner/heaters when you leave your home can make a big difference, because when less electricity is used, the pollution from power plants decreases. Power plants also known as power station is an electric generating station Another way acid rain can be prevented is by using fewer cars! There are so many different ways of transportation. You can use bikes if you aren t going a long distance, you can use a train, if you live near a friends house you can car pool, and this all decreases reliance on fossil fuels. Cars also emit carbon dioxide, which contributes to global warming which is affecting the environment. As the temperature rises, more rain falls, which increases the risk of heavier flooding. Ice is melting, and that is dangerous for future sea level rise. Also many countries already have very low water, and when the climate changes it changes precipitation patterns, and increasing droughts, which is dangerous because people are running out of water. But a positive impact is that electric cars are better for the environment because they only use battery power, meaning there is no burning of gasoline or other fossil ... • 5. Dramatic Irony In The Book Of Job The Book of Job is a story like none other. A story written so that it combines the elements of a poetic drama, wisdom literature, and tragedy. The book for the most part is split into two different categories of literature: prose and poetry. The reader is able to see both sides of the story through the two elements. While God and the Advisor speak to each other in prose, Job speaks in a poetic dialogue along with his three friends and wife, the only other characters in the story. With Job s friends, we can really take in the dramatic irony of the entire story as they try and convince Job he has sinned but as the reader we know the truth to the matter. The story begins and ends in a narrative prose, which doesn t necessarily blend seamlessly in to the poetic balance of the story. The reader is taken from a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We have the privilege of being introduced to all of the characters of the story and we know the motivations and intentions of each side. We know that Job is suffering not because he has sinned but because the Advisor wants him to turn away from God. The story becomes more personal to the reader when we know both sides of the story and we are able to put ourselves in the protagonists shoes and hope we would do the same as Job did. Job had every right to blame God for allowing his life to fall to pieces, however he does the opposite. Job continues to worship the Lord and praise His name. Job states, Naked I came out of my mother s womb, and naked shall I return there. The LORD has given and the LORD has taken. May the LORD s name be blessed. (Job 194) It s human instinct to place blame on something to justify what we cannot explain, but Job loses everything and he doesn t blame God. Job s behavior is inspiring and is even more incredible knowing that he has no idea why this is happening and does only what he knows to do: worship the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The contagion finally hit South Korea in December of 1997, merely 5 months after the downfall of the Thai economy. Korea, like Mexico was given a huge bailout, the largest in history of $55 billion. This move ended the contagion in South East Asia, but left a wake of despair as poverty once again grew in these developing Asian countries. Although the contagion in Asia was over, it had not yet started in other parts of the world. The crisis would hit Russia next, as investors envisioned low risk for an ex super power with lots of atomic weapons. The investors reasoned that rich countries would surely bail out Russia to avert instability if a financial crisis arose. The investors were wrong; Russia defaulted on its loans and there was no bailout from rich nations. The sentiment within the investor community now swung from one of high risk tolerance to high risk aversion. The crisis would head to America next, when little know hedge fund LCTM (Long Term Capital Management) neared bankruptcy. LCTM controlled $100 billion in assets and was involved in all markets world wide, including Tokyo, Singapore, London and Hong Kong. The decline in these world markets caused losses in LCTM to spiral downward. Contagion had now come to Wall Street. Since LCTM was a private fund, the government could not bail them out. • 9. Impact Of The Voting Rights Act Of 1965 The most transformative piece of legislation relating to a minority culture group in America is the Voting Rights Act of 1965, also known as the VRA. This piece of legislation has nearly 150 years of history to prove that its affect on minorities, mainly African Americans, has had a major impact on American civil rights and is still in the spotlight today. The Voting Rights Act of 1965 was signed into law by President Lyndon B. Johnson on August 6, 1965, and was designed to overcome legal barriers at both the state and local levels of government that prevented African Americans from exercising their right to vote. ( Voting Rights Act of 1965 ) The 15th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution ratified on February 3, 1870 granted African American men the right to vote declaring that the right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude. (Primary Documents...) Sadly, the promise of the 15th Amendment was not realized for nearly a century because of government use of poll taxes, literacy tests and other means used by the Southern states to disenfranchise African Americans. The passing of the VRA helped completely change history giving African American citizens a voice. Beginning with the passing of the 15th Amendment in 1869, minority voting rights has had a lengthy history in America. In 1896, Louisiana grandfather clauses kept former slaves and ... • 10. Persuasive Speech On Horse Slaughter Every little girl dreams of having a horse, but what do you do with that horse when he is too old to be rode and he struggles to come in and eat his grain? Most likely you don t have the heart to put him down yourself, and to have him euthanized costs so much, but are there any other options? Yes, there is one more option, that is horse slaughter. Don t be afraid of it just because you hear the word slaughter, the horses are treated well and they are put down humanely. Horse slaughter is a big controversy in the United States, and there are many people that are against it, but I m here to tell you why everyone should be for horse slaughter. Horse slaughter is something that is needed and not something that is evil. Today I m going to tell you about why everyone should be for horse slaughter and how it can help to control the horse population, help stimulate the economy and help feed people that are starving. First, horse slaughter can help control the horse population. By taking horses to slaughter then people can sell their unwanted, dangerous, and old horses. Now there are many of you that might say they could also just be euthanized, but this would cost the owners a fortune. If they sell their horse to a slaughter house, then the owner no longer has the dangerous horse and he also made money instead of losing money. Since the United States Banned horse slaughter then abandonment and neglect have in increased by 50% according to Alison Rowe attorney at law s office. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Dawson intends to finance inventory and receivables with the line of credit. NBC must remain cognizant of the competitive landscape of the lumber industry and assess whether a focus on the retail segment is beneficial to Dawson s strategic plan. An expected decline in lumber prices would suggest a reduction in forecasted lumber sales beyond 1999. Increased competition from large chains also poses a threat to Dawson s retail sales projections and margins. In light of the industry outlook for both sectors, Dawson s capital expenditure projection of $1.1mm (1.9% and 2.4% of expected sales from lumber and retail, respectively) appears to be low, considering the average of both industries. This suggests that Dawson may eventually fall behind its competitors as a higher proportion of investment is required in both manufacturing and operations technology for Dawson to maintain a competitive advantage. Despite the above, NBC s main concern surrounds Dawson s projections to further increase its already high levels of inventory when compared with the competition. While Dawson may view the need to provide high quality service to differentiate itself from its competitors, $24mm appears inflated and counter to management s previous strategic goals to stabilize the company through improvements in inventory and yard operations. I will be talking about my torah portion Ki Teitzei which is about the commandments that Moses was giving at the end of his life. The commandments covered many different topics from cheating to inheritance. One thing that stood out to me in my torah portion was the commandment about dealing with difficult children. In the torah it says that if a family has a wayward and defiant son who is bad even after being disciplined. The parents together must take their son to the town s elders, and say This son of ours is disloyal and defiant; he does not heed us. He is a glutton and a drunkard. Why would God want parents to kill their own children? It says in the Mishnah, that if you kill one person, it is as if you are destroying the entire world, and if you save one person, you are saving the entire world. So commanding parents and communities to kill their rebellious children is like asking them to destroy the entire world. The rabbis who wrote the Mishnah, also did not like this commandment. As they explained the details, they made it very specific, so that it could never actually happen. First they restrict it by age: it only applies from a person s 13th birthday, until three months after that. So for me, I have two more days until I am safe from being stoned for being a stubborn and rebellious son. Then they restrict it so that it only applies to sons, and not daughters. They explain the Torah to mean that the son has to eat meat and wine, no other food or drink counts. They measure out an outrageous amount of meat and wine he has to eat and drink to be deemed a glutton and a drunkard. I think that it is wrong to cover up this part of the ... • 16. Existentialism In No Exit Existentialism concentrates on human existence and an individual discovering their meaning and purpose in life. It involves free will and the ability to make choices, while taking responsibility for the outcomes of those decisions. Existentialism is composed of five different elements, which are authenticity, angst, anxiety, freedom, and absurdity. In Jean Paul Sartre s play titled No Exit , the multiple elements of existentialism are portrayed through the characters; Garcin, Estelle, and Inez. One of the elements of existentialism that is present in No Exit is absurdity. Garcin finds himself in complete disbelief when he realizes that hell is absolutely nothing like the depiction that is given on earth. In the play, he states So this is hell. Even in America, land of the free , our ability to hide our identities is threatened daily. The people of the world must protect their right to be anonymous on the internet. Large corporations have a lot to gain by deanonymizing the internet. Consumer s lives are becoming increasingly dependent on internet connected cell phones, laptops, cars, refrigerators, heart monitors and other household appliances. After consumers sign the terms of service, corporations, such as Facebook and Google, can use these devices to collect information about their users. That information could include Google search history, location history, or in some cases heart rate (Maras). Corporations then use this information to develop and advertise products to these consumers. In response to this disregard for privacy, consumers have turned to anonymizing services such as The Onion Router and Virtual Private Networks to protect their identities (Winkler). Tolkien, is a children s fantasy novel (though the series The Lord of the Rings that followed its story was more tuned to adults) that was first published in 1937. When it was first released, it received critical acclaim from millions of readers, and it was eventually nominated for the Carnegie Medal and won Best Juvenile Fiction from the New York Herald Tribune. However, despite its success, the most enduring trait of the novel is its connection with readers throughout generations that has inspired countless authors and readers. In fact, Tolkien desired to write more in Morris romantic style. In particular, a chapter named The Desolation of Smaug was directly influenced by Morris style and ideas (The Letters of J.R.R. Tolkien). Another writer that left an impression on Tolkien was Samuel Rutherford Crockett. His historical novel The Black Douglas and its villain Gilles de Retz inspired The Hobbit s evil character Sauron. It is said the narrative style and even the events in both The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings were influenced by The Black Douglas (Lobdell, Jared C.). The goblins within The Hobbit are closely associated with the goblins in the novel The Princess and the Goblin by George MacDonald. In addition, MacDonald impressed upon Tolkien the role of fantasy in the context of Christianity (J. R. R. Tolkien Encyclopedia: Scholarship and Critical Assessment). Another key influence on The Hobbit is Tolkien s adoration of Norse mythology and Germanic philology. Not only are many myths from Norse mythology adapted into The Hobbit, the names of the characters have a distinct Old Norse feel to them (Rateliff, John D.). And speaking of characters, the dwarves were modeled after ancient Jewish people and their history (Rateliff, John D.). Hannah currently lives with Susan during the week and visits her father, who lives about an hour away, every other weekend, some holidays, and several weeks during the summer. Raising the Flag on Iwo Jima is a picture released on 1945, by Joe Rosenthal. It is portraying about five a United States Navy and United States Marines corpsman raising an U.S. flag at the top of Suribachi Mount, after the Battle on Iwo Jima island during World War II. The photograph was very famous and popular, to the extent that it had being reprinted thousand times in that period of time. The five soldiers in the picture is representing the American navy who engaged in the war against Japan taking place in the Iwo Jima an island in Pacific Ocean which is referring to the bundle of land the soldiers are standing on. The scene about five soldiers climbing a hill raising the American Flag, amidst rubble is here the signifier, which implied the secondary level of meaning. For the meaning being signified is the strength and power of these soldiers to climb to the top and represent pride for their country (by raising the flag over Iwo Jima, it can reflect American s victory and s of the war). This is how readers have always started out studying the Bible. Little did they know there was an entirely different account of creation just a little ways down from the first account they see in Genesis. So, is there really two different accounts of God creating the Earth in the Bible? Some people believe yes, others believe, no. • 37. How Is General Zaroff A Dynamic Character In every story there is always a mysterious character that the author does not provide enough information and background to the readers. This adds suspense to the story, adding more surprises and eye opening astonishments. In the case of this short story The Most Dangerous Game, General Zaroff is that character. He is preceded as the antagonist character that is uncivilized, cruel, and reckless. General Zaroff plays the role of a dynamic and complex character that develops over the course of the story. In the introductory of the character General Zaroff, one would assume that he is a civilized man because of the fact that he is first presented as a well dressed wealthy man who lived on an island which was owned by himself. Within General ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In his opinion, he believes in life is for the strong, to be lived by the strong, and, if needs be taken by the strong. The weak of the world were put here to give the strong pleasure. I am strong. Why should I not use my gift? (page 7). This proves that he views the world in a primitive fashion, believing that the weak should suffer beneath the feet of the strong. He believes that the world is split into two. One being greater than the other or one being more superior over the other. Due to the fact that General Zaroff believes he is one of the strong, he assumes that he is obligated to exterminate the weak. General Zaroff is convinced that killing humans is acceptable. He enjoys the thrill of killing humans as he once did for tigers, hinting tigers ceased to interest me some years ago. I exhausted their possibilities, you see. No thrill left in tigers, no real danger. I live for danger (page 5). Killing humans instead of animals provides him pleasure and he does it for entertainment purposes because they can reason, after a fashion (page 7). This reveals that General Zaroff does not have the same feelings towards the values of life as others would. By that, one could assume that he does not have a clear idea of the difference between right and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. The Darling By Anton Pavlovich Chekhov All throughout time women have been seen as lesser equals to men. For most individuals it has been a natural instinct to assume the roles of women. However, making these assumptions is degrading and unjust. While some women try and object the status quo, others accept it and continue on with their lives. In The Darling by Anton Pavlovich Chekhov, the protagonist Olenka can be seen as a prime example of the perfect women. In Chekhov s short story, a young Russian woman named Olenka marries twice after the death of each husband. Soon after each husband passes, Olenka begins to isolate herself until she discovers a new person to fall in love with. This pattern reveals that Olenka relies on others for satisfaction and acceptance. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Olenka loved Kukin and had soaked in every single bit of him, but without his presence she was left at a standstill. After she had received the news of his death, Olenka was devastated and had nothing exciting to live for. And for a second time, a man in her life whom she cherished had died. However, after only three months of grieving, Olenka had met another male figure in her life named Vassily Andreitch Pustovalov. For Olenka, this had once again given her the optimism to see through a fulfilling future with a partner by her side. Immediately after meeting Vassily, a timber merchant, she befriends him and becomes infatuated with his presence. The speaker goes on to state that After seeing Olenka to her gate, he said good bye and went on. All day afterwards she heard his sedately dignified voice, and whenever she shut her eyes she saw his dark beard. She liked him very much (Chekov). In these lines it is evident that Olenka was desperate for affection once again, and craved to be desired by someone else. Finding such an immediate connection when meeting someone for the first time is odd, especially considering her husband had just passed three months prior. To no surprise Vassily visited Olenka three days later, which ensured her that a marriage was to be arranged. Just as in Olenka s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. The Tabernacle Of Moses The ancient tabernacle of Moses was a sacred and holy place for the people of Israel. It served as a tool for the people to remember God and to look forward to their promised Messiah. The tabernacle was so integral to the lives of the Israelites that they even built the tabernacle in the center of their encampments during their journeys (Yom Kippur). The tabernacle also served many purposes for the Israelites in their rituals, ceremonies, and beliefs of their religion. Many practices that the ancient Israelites performed in and for the tabernacle anciently, may seem peculiar to the modern thought process or many beliefs today. The main focus of the tabernacle was the day of Yom Kippur, or Day of Atonement. On this day, the Israelites would gather and watch as a high priest performed the rituals in the tabernacle that would rid the sins of the people of Israel. This day and ceremony was a very important aspect to Israelites beliefs and the tabernacle was the main tool for their ceremonies. The tabernacle and the day of Yom Kippur served many purposes in helping the Israelites to remember their God, learn from symbols, and to help them strive to obey their God s commandments. To be able to understand the symbols and rituals that the Israelites did in the tabernacle, a knowledge of the tabernacle s history, and specific instructions must be understood. This is an alternate ending, where Winnie decides to wait until she is seventeen, drink the water, and live forever. My story picks up right before Winnie pours the spring water over the toad in the original story. • 42. Effects Of Sodium Chloride On Thikistrodesmus Algae Growth Title Sodium Chloride Acts as Environmental Pollutant by Prohibiting Ankistrodesmus Algae Growth Introduction Pollution negatively effects an organism s growth because it introduces harmful chemicals or products that cause damage to its environment. The environmental pollution experiment that was performed tested the effects of pollutants, more specifically sodium chloride, on Ankistrodesmus, which is a species of fresh water algae. The experiment investigated the effects of different concentrations of sodium chloride to examine if it promoted or suppressed Ankistrodesmus growth. The importance of this experiment was to determine if sodium chloride could be classified as a pollutant for this species of algae. Experiments conducted in 1968 show ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Data collected over a period of two weeks indicates that sodium chloride prohibits Ankistrodesmus growth since optical density measurements of each test tube were recorded in a table as well as graph (Figures 1 and 2). The data shown in this table and graph show that although the Ankistrodesmus algae grew slightly at some points, overall it decreased in optical density, which means sodium chloride prevented its growth. This conclusion can also be drawn from the average net gain/losses of optical densities table and graph. The data collected indicates that the Ankistrodesmus grew more in the 50% sodium chloride solution, which was treatment group 3 (Figure 4). However, this cannot be acknowledged since Day 14 s test tube readings were taken using another group s setup. Consequently, only readings from Day 0 and Day 7 are accurate and usable. Even though treatment group 3 s data is unreliable it s only one result and accounting this group still leaves treatment groups 1 and 2. By comparing treatment groups 1 and 2 to the control group one can easily conclude that the optical densities of the two treatment groups decrease (Figures 3 and 4). This indicates that as the concentrations of sodium chloride increases then the overall growth of algae decreases. Therefore, one can conclude that from the readings sodium chloride prohibits Ankistrodesmus algae ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Analysis Of Singing In The Rain Singin In The Rain Critique 2 (Theatre) The stage adaptation of the renowned motion picture, Singin In The Rain, is currently featuring out of the Zach Theatre in Austin, TX. Based on the 1952 film starring Gene Kelly and Debby Reynolds, it is regarded as one of the greatest musicals in history. The screenplay seemed to be based verbatim on that of the original picture s. Prior to my investment of the act, it was evident that this production had great expectations to meet, and it would be a challenge to align with these standards and capture the essence and imagery of the original. Zach Theatre s production exceeds this quality, and delivers righteously, tastefully recreating the legendary picture. The direction, choreography, and acting did not spare difficulties, and there was enough invention to bring this old time production into the modern age to intrigue and entertain those of all ages. The actors impeccably resembled the original ensemble and characters, which immortalized each song and dance, as most would have remembered it. Luke Hawkins, who portrayed Don Lockwood, carried the cast with his perfected impersonation and tactical movements, combining elements of tap and swing. Supporting Hawkins, portraying Cosmo Brown and Kathy Selden, were Sasha Hutchings and Blake Spellacy. All were a joy to watch and indefinitely provided the audience with the required ambience, aura, and appeal that would be a cultivation of that glamorous appeal. The modern Don, Kathy, and ... • 46. Importance Of School Counseling According to the American School Counselor Association (ASCA), Today s school counselors are vital members of the education team. They help all students in the areas of academic achievement, personal/social development and career development, ensuring today s students become the productive, well adjusted adults of tomorrow (2017). The definition of a school counselor has changed throughout the years. There has been a shift from guidance/vocational counseling to a more well rounded approach. Moving from guidance to counseling, means different job duties and educational obstacles. Not only do the job responsibilities include career development, social/emotional development, and academic achievement; included in this change is focus on student s mental health. With the advancement of this career to the mental health field, comes with educating stakeholders on the difference. One way to do this is by producing evidence that counseling techniques work in a language that most stakeholders understand: academics. The money a public school receives correlates largely with achievement. If the students do well academically, the school becomes more attractive. Salaries are better; therefore, more qualified teachers apply and communities become more enticing to tax paying citizens. Just the opposite, schools that perform poorly academically have higher poverty level, lower teacher experience, and less money paid per student by the state in which it resides. All of this ... The Success Of An Overseas Business Venture When a company is conducting business internationally, understanding the culture of the country or region, it is doing business with, as well as making sure the business fits the culture where it is doing business, is extremely important. Not understanding the culture could mean that the product or service affects the competitiveness, marketing, and could even have some political ramifications. An understanding of the country s language, attitudes and beliefs, religion, material culture, social education, legal characteristics, and political structures can have a positive impact on the success of an overseas business venture. In order to run a successful international business, a business manager must also become a student of culture and diversity. Before choosing a global market to sell a product or service, a company needs to make sure that the product or service is a good fit for the culture. It is important to know if the product or service is something that the culture of the country would need or want. As an example, if a company sells cowboy hats, they are not likely to be very successful in a country where the culture and religion requires the people to wear turbans. Knowing the culture and its religions is important when choosing a country for as a global market.
