Summary Of A Child Called It By David Pelzer
Have you ever felt like there is no God? In the novel by David Pelzer, A Child Called It , David
Pelzer was a mistreated child at a very young age by his mother Catherine Roerva. David Pelzer
was considered a bad boy , In the beginning, it was mirror treatment . Mother would simply grab
me and smash my face against the mirror, smearing my tear streaked face on the slick, reflective
glass. Then she would order me to say over and over again, I m a bad boy ! David Pelzer was a bad
boy (This shows how David Pelzer got the nickname bad boy). David Pelzer was a normal child at

Organizational Climate Within An Organization
Organizational Climate
Kaitlyn McAtee
MGT 570 Managing Human Resources
Colorado State University Global Campus
Dr. Rudy Smartt
October 8th 2014 Organizational Climate The organizational climate within an organization or
company is very important and complex. When two companies merge with different corporate
culture, it is important to find out which cultures to keep and which to lose. In determining the best
practices, it is important to keep your employees feelings in mind. After all, without the employees,
there may be no organization. Acquiring a company that has a different culture than the culture
instilled in my company, will bring up many challenges and unique topics. The way management
addresses these challenges, will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In opening the lines of communication, it will help unify the culture by suggesting that each
employee learn about each other and their work to be on the same page. When opening the lines of
communication, an organization also needs to establish the rules for both of the organizations to
follow.
Rule Implementing
Implementing rules and sticking to them is a large process in merging two companies. This
becomes such a large process because both of the companies have different cultures that need to
be addressed. In the most ideal situation, the manager would overview the two cultures and
establish what is to be kept, in doing so the new culture and rules will be set forth and the
employees will be required to follow them. This will not be easy for those who have adapted to
rules and do not want to change their ways. Sometimes feelings may be hurt, and employees may
resign due to the new rules implemented. In order to keep the peace, one must explain that things
will be changing, and they hope that those employed will embrace the change and work together
with management to make the transition as easy as possible. Some employees may not see this
fit, and will resign or complain with the new rules. The rules are in place for all of the employees,
despite their age. Therefore, management needs to be strict on how they implement the rules. The
consequences need to be told up front, and if someone if breaking the rules they

How Did Galileo Galilei Contribute To The Scientific...
Galileo Galilei was born into a world of inventions being originated on every corner. The world
was thirsty for new and improved technology. Throughout Galileo s years he will improve,
discovery, and endeavor to become one of the most important scientist of western history. Along the
journey he will encounter rough patches with the church, however never capitulate. He will set the
basis for science; he was an agile scientist who had a huge impact on the world s technology
improvements and underlying contributions to astronomy, mathematics, physics, and philosophy
during the scientific revolution. Galileo was significant to western history due to his discovery of
the telescope, which would allow for all future discoveries, forever changing science and the
scientific revolution.
Galileo Galilei was born on February 15th, 1564 in Pisa, the northern part of Italy. His father was a

Galileo used the scientific instrument, that was only founded the year before by the Dutch, the
telescope into a more powerful version. When Galileo read of it, he quickly set about making a
much more powerful version. The Dutch telescopes magnified images by 3 times; Galileo s
telescopes magnified them by 8 to 30 times. (Zax.[Database]) In 1609, Galileo built a telescope
and observed the moon. With observing the moon he found and made drawings of the moon s
craters at different times each month. The following year, 1610, he announced that Jupiter had four
moons of its own. Slowly pieces started coming together for Galileo. In 1611, Galileo found
sunspots that would frequently appear through his telescope. After finding Jupiter s four moons and

Creating Bigger Space For A Smaller Space
Creating bigger space in a smaller space. Extensions varied from project in a huge scale, such as
the Great Court in British Museum, to a single one storey housing extension. As the population
grows while land not shrinking, it certainly raises concerns from the experts in the field of
architecture. We need more space. As we all know technologies are getting better and better every
year, we now have some more innovative buildings than before, but it is always good to have
conserve the old buildings. In this case, that s when extension architecturecan serve its purpose. The
Great Court in British Museumoriginally designed by Robert Smirke for example, was once a
garden. Later on it has turned in to a reading room before they relocated it to the new British
library in 1997. With over five million visitors annually, British Museum leads visitors to
disorientation and confusion before extensions. Foster + Partner built the extension with three aims,
revealing hidden spaces, revising old spaces, and creating new spaces. In this case, extensions are
crucially influential for this type of architecture, and it has effect how people behave within the
building. Before construction, this space serves as an open, or rather empty space. After the
extension, this space serves as a centralized circulation to direct visitors flow and clarify the
footprint of the building itself. Extension has made a space that has not been smartly used into an
enhanced space that introduce its

An Effective Total Rewards Program For Increase Profitability
Organizations that use a salesforce to help promote its business for increase profitability are
challenged to develop a compensation plan that aligns the company s overall goals. A sales
compensation plan is more than a tactical focus, but it is a strategic focus for an organization to that
enables the company to remain competitive in the business industry (Thoreson, 2014). State Farm
was founded in 1922 by G.J. Merchele, as an auto insurancecompany. Today, it is one of the
leading providers of insurance and financial services with more than 18,000 agents that serve
almost 82 million policies and accounts all over the United States (Statefarm.com, 2015). State farm
offers several employee incentiveprograms that allow small business owners to give back to its
employees (Statefarm.com, 2015). In this paper, the author will describe the six features of an
effective total rewards program that can contribute to motivating a sale force to produce a high
number of clients. The author will describe the behaviors of the sales force that are targeted with
the compensation plan. This paper will assess how a value proposition is achieved for current and
future employees in the outlined plan. Lastly, the author will indicate how future salespeople may

Importance Of Character Education In Literature
Although, parents teach their children various important lessons, the most valuable lesson of all in
a child s life is the teaching of morals and values. We are taught virtues through the process of
Character Education. Character education is vulnerable in the way it is represented to the general
public because without virtues and morals, people will have a more difficult time properly
functioning in society. Rather it s prevalent or not, character educationis the way most of us have
gained our own set of life morals. Morals control every aspect of our lives and those without good

Upon getting the answer correct, the old woman asks the knight to marry her in which he does
but is not happy. Eventually, the old woman is fed up with the knight s actions and tells him he
can either have her now in which she is old and ugly, but loyal or have her as a young and
beautiful woman who will not necessarily love only him. The knight then exclaims that the
woman may do, however she wishes and the overjoyed woman tells the knight he can have the
best of both worlds (Chaucer, 129 150). The moral of the story is to never judge a book by its
cover, physical beauty isn t the utmost importance, and that beauty lies within. However, the point
is never clearly stated by the author of the work, we can all infer it from the way the story is
written. The knight is taught a lesson about his flaw in character, not to be so judging, so

Making Decisions In Homer s Timeless Epic, The Odyssey
Sometimes people are unable to control the direction their lives take. This can be a hard concept
to grasp, but one needs to understand that one cannot control every single detail or event in one s
life, and also cannot possibly predict what will happen in the future. Obstacles of every kind will
strike, whether these trials come in the form of day to day hardships, catastrophic natural disasters,
or even the fate of the gods. The only thing one can really do is adapt to the new situation and try
to move forward.

Differences Between Sea Oats And Camphorweed
On the Cabretta beach dunes, there is an abundance of vegetation that encompasses the area of the
quadrant for each stop. The most plant diversity of one stop, was observed in a swale (Dune Stop
2), with weed oats, wax myrtle, rushes, and dog fennel. These four plants solely appeared in the
swale. Sea oats and camphorweed were the most abundant planttypes in the dunes; additionally, sea
oats and camphorweed can be found in multiple dune environments. Sea oats were found in dune
crests, between two troughs, and in the fore dune, having most abundance in the crests, while
camphorweed was found in inter dune meadows, between two troughs, and in the fore dune,
having most abundance in the inter dune meadows (Figure ). These two plants displayed
significant height differences in various dune territories. In the crest, sea oats measured at a height
of 105cm, but as they grow closer to the ocean, they increase by ~63cm. As for camphorweeds,
they grew to be roughly 60cm in the inter dune meadows and fore dune; however, in between the
two troughs, the plant stood at an average height of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Berserkers
You never forget a close encounter with a wild animal bent on hunting you down for their next

by a stealthy creature with the face of a man and the head of a bear or wolf brandishing sword

a good description of the Berserker a Norse warrior who fought in a nearly uncontrollable, trance
like fury, a characteristic which later gave rise to the English word berserk.

Dotus Variation Lab Report
Introduction
For the past few weeks in Biology 107, the class has been touching on the subject of evolution and
how it is brought about through various processes. Evolution is a concept that has been researched
extensively for over a century now and continues to bring interesting findings day after day.
According to the Hardy Weinberg law (a principle that contributes to the understanding of evolution
) first introduced by Godfrey Hardy and Wilhelm Weinberg states that there are five possible agents
of evolutionary change, including: natural selection, genetic drift, mutations, gene flow, and
nonrandom mating. Nonetheless, the mechanism of interest for this particular lab is natural
selection. According to Mader, Natural Selection is the mechanism, ... Show more content on

Although this is only one case the results all seem to give a reasonable explanation to how this
simulation can be applied in natural environments. It is logical to assume that the phenotypes
(colors) that stand out in the environment (map) will most likely be the ones selected (eaten) by
predators. For example, in this experiment the phenotypes subjected to positive selection
pressure for the most part were dark colored dots or dots that were better blended into the
environment, more specifically the green and clear colors who most likely blended with the
grasses or trees. The phenotypes that were subjected to negative selection pressure were much of
the bright colored dots that stood out in the environment, more specifically the hot pink, orange,
and yellow colors. Furthermore, there are many similar documented cases and scenarios that go
to show that these types of results are likely in the wild. One example is that of the tadpole fish
who alter their body symmetry (the way they look) in response to predators. According to Herzog,
Rabus, Ribeiro and Laforsch (coauthors of Inducible Defenses with a Twist : Daphnia barbata
Abandons Bilateral Symmytry in Response to an Ancient Predator, ) the body torsion likely
contributes to the increased survival rate of Triops induced D.barbata. These two examples,

Descriptive Essay On Ballet Slippers
The young, fashionable man contrasted starkly against other High Ground patrons, who were
nearly all dressed casually. However, this casual clothing took different forms; from the woman
in the casual dress to the outdoorsy looking man, there were many variations on casual wear. For
example, there was one young woman in the line who was wearing the same shorts and a tee
combination as many other patrons. Hanging off the back of her backpack were a pair of pink
leather shoes, soft and supple, with worn pads on the bottom where the material was gathered in
from the top. They were hooked onto her backpack with a carabiner through the criss crossed
elastic bands which pulled the two sides of the shoe together. Through iconic reasoning, I
recognized them as ballet slippers. This lead me to assume that this young woman was a dancer,
coming from or going to class or rehearsal. This indexical assumption was based on my
recognizing the ballet slippers and understanding what ballet slippers are generally used for, as
well as knowing that rarely, if ever, someone would hang a pair of well used ballet slippers off of
their backpack as a sort of fashion statement. After mentally cataloging the woman in the summer
dress, the hiker, the fashionable young man, and now the ballerina based on clothes and
accessories, I tried to find a sign that was not clothing. I noticed the young woman at the table next
to mine, who was industriously typing away on her laptop, referring every now and

Solving White Tailed Deer Overabundance With Hunting and Sterilization In the past few decades,
white tailed deer populations in North America have increased drastically. Due to some relief in
predation in correlation with changes in the environment deer populations in many zones meet or
exceed 10 deer per square kilometer, which is a much higher ratio than in the 1960 s and 1970 s
(CГґtГ© 116). With an overabundance of deer, many problems arise; the diversity and success of
habitats decline, agriculture suffers, more deer vehicle collisions occur, and quite a few more
issues appear. In order to maintain a healthy number of deer and reduce these issues, deer
populations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An abundance of deer initially seems to indicate healthy habitats and flourishing wildlife;
however, overabundance actually leads to severe problems for ecosystems. One of the reasons
deer populations have been able to grow so exponentially is because many forested suburban
areas allow for deer habitats with low risk of predation (Boulanger 174). In correlation with their
suburban living, overpopulated deer end up crossing more roads and highways, posing as more
pressing issues towards automobiles and trains and causing more frequent collisions. Next, and
quite obviously, overabundance creates overcrowding in habitats. Less apparent, however, is the
idea that with increased browsing of new tree seedlings, overpopulated deer decrease species
diversity in forests and reduce tree growth, which leads to a lack of protection from erosion and
floods (CГґtГ© 117). Deer also forage selectively, meaning certain species of plant will be eaten
more frequently than others, often resulting in less diversity, ground coverage, and competition
between plants (CГґtГ© 124). This, in turn, makes ecosystems less suitable to other species, in
particular the foliage. Steeve CГґtГ© quotes Hobbs and Paine, who explain, By affecting
competitive interactions among plants with varying levels of chemical defenses and by altering
successional trajectories, deer alter ecosystem processes that include energy transfer, soil
development, and

Most people will experience undesirable odors in their home at some point. You can often get rid
of these unpleasant odors simply by throwing out items and cleaning up messes. Unfortunately,
these bad smells can stick around and may require a more thorough cleaning, sometimes by a
biohazard team. Fortunately, simply keeping your home clean is one of the top ways to prevent
bad smells from sticking around your house. There are a few steps you can do to prevent bad
odors in your home.
Regularly go through your refrigerator and pantry, throwing out food that is no longer good. Rather
than throwing it in your kitchen garbage, where it is likely to make your whole kitchen stink, take
the food to an outdoor trash or dumpster.
Clean up after your pets. For many people, their pets are an integral part of their family.
Unfortunately, pets can also be a smelly part of your family. Make sure your dog gets a bath
regularly. Keep any pet cages or tanks clean. If your pet has an accident in your house, clean it up
right away. The sooner you discover the problem, the less time it will have to seep into your
flooring.

such as fish.

The Impact Of Ferdinand Porsche On Germany s Efforts...
A. Summary of Evidence :
Critical Analysis of the sources indicates that Ferdinand Porsche had made a large impact on
Germany s efforts during World War 2. Due to his affiliation and close relation to Hitler he had
been tasked with many engineering projects that had come to the aid of Germany s military forces
and perhaps had become the economic miracle that Germany was in need of with his success of the
VW beetle. By diving into the sources I have found that Porsche s early stages began by supplying
German troops with new aviation technology as well as tanks known as the Elefant. An interview
conducted at Porsche Centre Johannesburg which is one of the largest centres in the world clearly
back these sources. It was made clear to me by the interviewee that the roots of the Porsche
company do indeed stem from a military and agricultural background. However Ferdinand Porsche
also had a strong relationship with the USSR which seemed to cause some doubts. By
reviewing the German Economy during World War 2 it was clear that Germany was in need of
an economic miracle in order to save it as their economy had taken a large hit during the war.
The sources clearly point that the success of the VW Beetle did indeed help to resurrect the
economy but however the economy had already bled out by then. Therefore Mr Ferdinand
Porsche and his company did indeed help Germany in the war and it could be stated that the war
could have ended much earlier if his aid was not there. Why

Possible area for future research could be imagine self perspective taking. Past research has
shown that when participants think about how they would personally feel in a situation, then they
tend to feel more self awareness, experience more personal distress, and may even have an
increased sense of morality (Batson, et al., 1997; Batson, et al., 2003). Previous work has also
shown that the two forms of perspective taking elicited different amount of personal distress
(Batson, Early et al., 1997) and different types of cognitions (Davis et al., 2004), and evidence from
neuroimaging studies provide further evidence of their distinguishableness in terms of neural
activity (Jackson, Brunet, Melzoff Decety, 2006).
Future research could consider a different formatting for the perspective taking manipulation,
perhaps to prime the participants and employ imagine self perspective taking prime or a
combination of both imagine self and imagine other primes to examine the effect of perspective
taking manipulation.
Previous research on victim impact statements has indicated that higher emotionality of the victim
impact statements will lead to harsher punishments of the defendant (Myers et al., 1999; Myers et

Essay on Iago; The Representation of Villainy in Othello
A villain is defined as an evil character in a novel, movie, play, or other story, especially one who
is the main enemy of the hero according to Encarta Dictionary. In Othello, Iago fits this definition
perfectly though Othello does not recognize that Iago is his enemy until the end of the story. Iagois
the evil minded, backstabbing character in this dramatic story. He demonstrates this villainy act all
through out the story beginning with being angry with Othellofor not appointing him as lieutenant,
his revenge on cassio for taking his place as lieutenant, and setting up Desdemonato look like she is

Cassio is least fortunate than Othello. Cassio has been a target since the beginning of the story
also not because of anger, but because of revenge. Poor Cassio does not have a clue about any of
the misleading telltales that Iago has influenced Othello to believe. After Iago gains Othello s
trust, he devices a plan to plant Othello s handkerchief on Cassio s bed, setting Desdemona and
Cassio up so when Othello asks Cassio for his handkerchief, Cassio would show it to Othello
thus proving that Desdemona and Cassio were having an affair. Before all this, Emilia, Iago s
wife, finds the handkerchief from Desdemona s bedroom and gives it to Iago later that night,
allowing the plan to work out which she has no idea about. Othello by now is already distrusting
Desdemona as well as looking down on her. By Act 3, Scene 3, Othello has every right to believe
Iago because his trust is on him and his words are factual. Desdemona cannot influence Othello to
believe in her. All the signs prove that she is a liar.
Desdemona is the least most fortunate innocent character in this story. Throughout the whole story,
she has been the one that has been faithful. Iago s intention is to help Rodrigo attain Desdemona,
but also at the same time ruin Othello. Othello believes that Desdemona and Cassio are having an

Problem of Tyranny of the Majority
Problem of Tyranny of the Majority Federalist papers were a series of essays written by
Alexander Hamilton, John Jay and James Madison and were publish with the pen name Publius
. They were first written to urge the citizens of New York City to support ratification of the
proposed United States Constitution. This paper will analyze the problem of tyranny of the
majority in both society and the government by using Madison s Federalist Papers No.10 and 51.
It will also discuss how the republican government and separation of powers provide remedies.
In Federalist Paper No.10, Madison defines factions as groups of people who have a common
self interest. They would be different to the individual rights of other citizens because they were
involved with their own benefits. He states that factions are inherent to human nature and citizens
are no longer living under a state of liberty. Madison states, liberty is to faction what air is to fire
, this means that with out liberty there cannot be any factions. By destroying the liberty, which is
essential to its existence, the other, by giving to every citizen the same opinions, the same
passions, and the same interests. The difference between those who have and those who don t
would always be in existence, and is in fact one of the most common unavoidable cause of factions.
Individuals will always continue to associate themselves with those who are on the same level, as
long as we have different property and economic statues.

I Graduate With A High School Diploma
Orthodontistry

Algebra 1
Mrs. Kamerman
December 11, 2015
INTRODUCTION After I graduate with a high school diploma, I would like to become an
orthodontist. Orthodontics has fascinated me since I was in third grade when I got braces. I have
had my braces on for seven years now, therefore I frequently visit my orthodontist. Throughout my
treatment process, I have seen the improvement made in the shape of my mouth. The idea of being
able to drastically improve someone s smile by reforming, straightening, and aligning an individual
s mouth has always intrigued me.
ORTHODONTIST RESEARCH The expertise needed to be successful in orthodontics in is the
ability to easily maneuver your hands. As a student, I should take courses that will prepare me for
admission to the pre dental college of my choice. In general, my high school courses should include
chemistry, biology, english, mathematics, speech, history, sign language, and any other courses that
include the development of hand skills. Courses like so, which specialize in improving my
communication skills and they will also assist in the preparation of my college studies. Critical
Thinking is necessary to achieve mastery in this area because orthodontics requires the ability to
identify and solve problems, therefore a course in which this is taught will be helpful. Orthodontists

Attorney Client Privilege
The interesting part of the two matters I will be addressing here is that an individual almost has to
know prior to a suit being filed that litigation may occur. Discussions and written matter, all
correspondence, emails and documents exchanged between parties should be prepared with a
thought to potential litigation. Attorney Client Privilege and the Work Product Doctrine are two
separate and distinct issues and should be treated within the legal world as separate disclosures.
Attorney Client Privilege, which originated in Roman and canon law, has evolved into a
recognized judicial doctrine and is necessary in order to provide clients with access to effective,
well informed counsel. In Upjohn Co. v US the Supreme Court the Court... Show more content on

Weaknesses Of Social Contract Theory
Social Contract theory is the idea that in the beginning people lived in the state of nature with no
government and laws to regulate them. In order to overcome the issues involved in the state of
nature, people entered into agreements to protect themselves and their properties. They did this by
uniting, rescinding certain rights under the state of nature, and pledging themselves to an authority
that will guarantee certain protections. They all agree to live together under those laws and create a
mechanism that enforces the contract and the laws that come with it. Some political theorists, such
as Thomas Hobbesand John Locke, have differing views as to what the state of nature is and what
should constitute as a social contract. One... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
More precisely, children are just as likely to contract with their mothers as they are with their
fathers for protection. Additionally, given the lack of a modern family structure, it is unlikely that a
child would know the exact identification of their father. Carole Pateman points out that under these
conditions of nature, it would seem unlikely that women would agree to have children. According
to Hobbes, they have the same primary drive for survival and perpetual existence that men do. The
question then lies: why would women put themselves at greater risk by caring for children?
Carole Pateman prompts us that the worrying part of Hobbes s idea of family may not be its
contractual form but its absolutism. While in his political contract we give absolute rule to the
sovereign, such as a monarch, in the family contract we also turn power over to an absolute ruler.
This absolute ruler is the master of the family. While Hobbes leaves open the possibility that the
mother could be the master of the household, however, mothers and women are removed from the
discussion of the family once the idea of the master is introduced. Pateman also dismisses Hobbes
s acknowledgement of female sovereigns as simply a logical possibility. She goes even further: the
sovereign cannot be the mother, given the conjectural history of the origin of the family

Radiotherapy Vs Chemotherapy Essay
In our body we have normal cells that send signals to every cell all the time and our normal cells
obey what the signals are saying. Normal cells know when they have reached their limit and when
it is time to die or to do something to themselves or to others. On the other hand, we have cancer
cells, they override the normal signaling system. For example, cancercells do not stop dividing and
growing when they have reached their limit. Due to this, the cells keep replicating, forming like a
tumorthat is growing. My point is that cancer cells grow and divide in a manner that you are not
able to control, they would invade normal tissues, organs and eventually spreading throughout the

To treat cancer or to remove doctors and scientist use surgery, chemotherapy(drugs), various types
of radiotherapy. Chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy might be used to destroy leftover cancer
cells and prevent the cancer from growing back. The exact treatment that will be used depends
on like the type of tumor and the stage of the disease or other things to take into account.
Scientists and researchers are always trying to find new ways to limit the growth, spread, and
kill of cancer cells. Most of our population do not know exactly what cancer is and how it works.
I highly suggest that we need to educate our population with the definition and show them how
cancer cells works. In my case, if it was not for my biology classes I would not have learned how
cancer cells works nor the definition. Cancer cells are really important since they can spread, get
to the point of stopping the function of other cells, killing other cells and finalizing with death or
stopping a function in our body. It is important to know about cancer cells because when you are
learning about them you are also learning about how your cells work and how they function. If they
know about this particular topic our community would be highly educated with not only cancer
cells, also with many other diseases that are associated with

Johnny Cash may have grown up working on a cotton farm, but he had big dreams. Johnny Cash
was born on February 26, 1932 in a small town called Dyess, just outside of Kingsland, Arkansas
( Johnny Cash 1). Growing up in a small town may have been one of the major factors that kept
Cash humble in his later years. Cash grew up in poverty with his mom, Carrie, his dad, Ray, and
his seven brothers and sisters ( Johnny 1). Because Cash was raised this way, he did not care
about the money that was involved in his future career. He always knew that he would become a

Cash was always passionate about his music; even when he was in the military he dreamed of
playing his music for a living.
There are a few major things that influenced Cash in his youth. When Cash was twelve years old,
his brother Jack was killed in a farming accident ( Johnny Cash 1). Most people believe that this

influence Cash s personality, it influenced his style of music as well. By listening to Cash s music,

and Girls by Alice Munro relatively has a direct message which is the constant battle of gender
stereotypes. The audience is reading through the point of view of the main character, which is a
girl, and her frustration she feels. Through the young girls experience, Alice Munro is able to show
the readers the role of stereotypes or expectations that a femalehas to fulfill. The main character s
mother believes that the girl is best fit in the kitchen aiding her because she is a female. When
her mother comes in the barn, she tell her father and then I can use her more in the house and
goes on to say I just get my back turned and she runs off. It s not like I had a girl in the family at
all (Munro 143). Her mother makes this statement because she is frustrated by her daughter actions.
She wants her daughter to act similar to a girl and help her in the kitchen instead of doing male
work. From the secondary source entitled Penning in the Bodies: The Construction of Gendered
Subjects in Alice Munro s Boys and Girls by Marlene Goldman she explains the mother behavior in
detailed in this part of the story. Similarly, her mother s behaviour is interpreted, not as an
expression of frustration and disappointment, or loneliness, but as a manifestation of innate

Rough Draft About Friendship
Friendship draft
A true friend is someone who would stop whatever they are doing to help you through anything
and you would do the same for them. In a friendship both people need to posses the same
essential traits for the friendship to be successful. Friends are a big part of my life because
without them life would be very dull. I think God made us to find people that we are compatible
with so we can go through life together. Three traits that a person should posses to be a good
friend are honesty, loyalty and encouragement. In my experience my friends who live out all three
of these traits fully, are my closest friends and I hold the same traits back to them.
Honesty is a difficult subject when it comes to friendship. There are two ways it can go. The first
scenario being one lies to their friend because they think they are protecting their feelings. This
case is bad because if you are always lying to your friend they are not going to trust you. The
second scenario is you are always honest to your friend about everything. When you are being too
honest it can be taken offensively and hurt the friendship. True friends find the perfect balance
between the two. They are honest with each other but they discuss topics in a respectful manner....

Summary Of Hard Times By Charles Dickens

ENGL 35701: 19th Century British Novel
Professor Elizabeth Weybright
27 June 2016
Utilitarianism in Hard Times
During the Victorian Era, many philosophers focused on utilitarian philosophy and ways of
thinking, choosing the best decisions and actions for their own self interest. In his novel, Hard Times
, Charles Dickens satirizes the English educational system, society, and economics, but most
importantly, through them, he criticizes the many abuses of utilitarianism. Many writers such as
Bornali Nath Dowerah and Ali Taghizadeh have done research on Dicken s work mostly focusing
on utilitarianism and its negative impacts on society especially on those of the lower class.
Charles Dickens, the most renowned social commentator of his time, criticized the ills of society as
he commiserates with those who were affected the most by social and economical abuses.
According to the article Charles Dickens as Social Commentator and Critic published on the
Victorian Web (www.victorianweb.org/authors/dickens/diniejko.html), Dickens was not only very
successful in exposing what was wrong with society, but also in exposing the ills of the utilitarian
theory which at the time rejected the human imagination or fancy. Utilitarianism is an ethical
theory which as we may know recommends ethical recommendations for everyday life, thus
making hard decision making easier for us. This theory mostly focuses on moral action, holding on
to the belief that people s happiness

Federal Deposit Insurance System
Many nations have implemented deposit insurance for the protection of the depositors from losses
that result from the inability of a bank to meet its debts. As an element of safety net in the banking
system, deposit insurance is meant to increase financial stability. A Deposit Insurance system
(DIS) main objective is to make sure that that firms and households do not loose savings as well as
deposits they hold in banks in case of bankinsolvency (Fdic.gov, 2014). It creates some confidence
within the financial system and promotes favorable services by banks. Therefore, DIS is not meant

Individuality was not stressed but rather the importance of the extended family. I believe that
African Americans suffering through the hardships of slavery strengthened the idea of kinship
even further. The unity of the African culture became strong due to a series of trials and
tribulations. The majority of the slaves were employed in agricultural areas in the South. By the
mid 19th century, a large number of slaves worked in urban areas as well, and about 5% worked
in more industrial occupations. The hours of the slave workers were long. The average life
expectancy of African slaves was at least 12% lower than whit Americans in 1850 and the infant
mortality rate was 25% higher for slaves. Oftentimes slave marriages and families dissolved due to
separation. This concept is horrible when you take under consideration that family was the entire
basis of African culture. Although frequent separation occurred slaves were very careful to pass on
the surnames of their black family of origin to their children. Kinship again is an importance in
African society. Although the first steps towards in improvements for African American culture
began in the North, social and economic conditions didn t improve much at all. The racial attitudes
of whites were still obvious among the white society. Laws banning interracial marriage and voting

King Lear Redemption
Shakespeare s King Lear is a play of redemption in which the king moves from moral blindness to a
clearer vision of what really matters.
Discuss this in relation to your set text.
Experiences allow one to move from moral blindness to a clearer vision of what really matters.
This is evident in William Shakespeare s King Lear where Lear goes mad which enables him to
broaden his insight and wisdom and as a result he develops truer and more honest values. This
allows him to see the wrongdoings he had made in the past and atone for them consequently
redeeming himself.

Shakespeare s illustrates this notion through the relationship between Lear and Cordelia.
Initially, Lear is blinded by his own pride as he sees love as simply flattering words. Shakespeare
s use of an aside for Cordelia when she states I am sure my love s more ponderous than my
tongue depicts her truthfulness and honesty which serves to amplify Lear s blindness as he
misunderstands her causing him to disown her and disclaim all [his] paternal care, Propinquity,
and property of blood. His moral blindness ruins his relationship with Cordelia as banishes her
and gives his kingdom to his other daughters, Reagan and Goneril. However, as the play
progresses his vision becomes clearer as he realises Reagan and Goneril s deceitful nature,
likening Regan to a vulture due to her sharp toothed unkindness. After going mad, Lear is able to
see how he has faulted Cordelia and it is his reconciliation with Cordelia which signifies his partial
redemption. His character development from a self absorbed king to a caring father reflects his
clearer vision for what truly matters. When he slowly regains his sanity, he remembers not these
garments but recognises his daughter as he tells I think this lady to be my child Cordelia. This
indicates his change in values as the first thing he attempts to identify is his daughter. This is
reinforced in the high modality language when Lear claims it will take a brand from heaven
separate him from Cordelia. The apologetic tone when Lear tells Cordelia I ll kneel down and
ask of thee forgiveness symbolises Lear s enlightenment as it exemplifies his desire to repent for
his actions. The death of Cordelia redeems Lear as his actions highlight his love for her.
Shakespeare employs religious imagery in the stage direction re enter King Lear, with Cordelia
dead in his arms which alludes to Virgin Mary holding her dead son Christ in her arms. This
heightens and magnifies

The Relational database and the No SQL database are both appropriate database methods
depending on the way they are being implemented and the purpose of the business for which they

characteristics, based on which they can be compared and contrasted in the following way.
STRUCTURE OF DATA: The data structure of a relational databasecomprises of table structure.
Every table is identified by a unique name or label. The data tables are described as the

The adverse effects of exposure to tobacco smoke while in utero and during early childhood are well
documented, with detrimental consequences occurring within the lungs and brain, resulting in
decreased intelligence and behavioural changes, such as heightened excitability (1,2). Tobacco
smoke exposure occurs prenatally from smoking mothers, or postnatally by environmental tobacco
exposure, and has been associated with low birth weight and head circumference, and creates
vasoconstriction resulting in reduced blood flow to the uterus, initiating oxygen and nutrient
deprivation (1). Additionally, tobacco smoke targets the developing nervous system, resulting in cell
proliferation and differentiation alterations in utero, and abnormal synaptic activity during infancy
(1). Synapses regulate intercellular communication within the brain, and are formed via a variety of
guidance cues and recognition signals, which direct outgrowing axons precisely to the target cell
(3), with abnormal activity ultimately leading to cell loss and neuronal damage (1).
Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH), a compound found within tobacco smoke (4), are toxic,
carcinogenic and neurotoxic (5), and are also a common air pollutant generated during the
incomplete combustion of organic material, such as coal, diesel and gasoline (5). While lead and
mercury, also released in coal burning, are likewise developmental neurotoxins (6). Exposure to
PAH creates PAH DNA adducts, which reflect an individual s

Post Learning Sleep Improves Cognitive Emotional Decision...
Have you ever been told to sleep on it when confronted with a serious decision? The study done
by Seeley, C. J., Beninger, R. J., Smith, C. T. titled Post Learning Sleep Improves Cognitive
Emotional Decision Making: Evidence for a Deck B Sleep Effect in the Iowa Gambling Task
sets out to answer if sleeping helps improve decision making. For this study, they used the Iowa
Gambling Task (IGT) on participants. After the IGT, participants had 12 hours of being awake,
12 hours of sleep, or 12 hours of sleep followed by 12 hours of being awake before taking the
IGT again. This experiment is important because it would show if we make better decisions after
sleeping on it. For important decisions, such as laws, business decisions, and even jury decisions,
we want the best results, and sleeping on these decisions may provide better results. The main
questions the researchers tried to answer were when starting out do people choose the deck with a
more constant chance of winning, when learning more about the game do people change their
choices, and does sleeping after the first session improve the participant s performance in the next
session. Their hypothesis, based on their previous experiments, was that initially more participants
would choose from decks B and D, but after they learn more about the game they will start to
choose more cards from decks C and D. They also hypothesized that sleeping after learning about
the game would improve their results for the next

The Significance Of The Weather In Catcher In The Rye
Throughout the novel The Catcher in the Rye, Holden s narration of his journey through the cold
and unforgiving weather helps to explain how he handles the aftermath of Allie s death. The
characteristics of ice during the winter represents how Holden deals with his pain initially by
preventing change. The rain near the end symbolizes that he handles grief by letting time flow,
since change is inevitable. The ice in the beginning of the novel reflects how Holden deals with
grief by refusing to confront the realities of his memories to keep them perfect, a way of stopping
change. When the novel starts, it s December the weather is cold and it s snowing out. On the way
to Mr. Spencer s house, Holden comments that the road is icy as hell (8).... Show more content on

At first, he struggles to learn this method of coping, because he hasn t had closure from Allie s
death. Later, he learns to embrace this idea of letting go by focusing on the present moment. In
the beginning of the story, Holden tells the reader about the night of Allie s death and how he
had wounded his hand punching windows in the garage. He added that his hand still hurts [him]
once in a while, when it rains and all (44). The hand represents his aching feelings about Allie s
death, since he had wounded it from frustration after Allie died. Because it still hurts in the rain,
Holden hasn t found closure in Allie s death yet. The rain in this scene can be interpreted as
thawed ice, since when ice melts, it turns into water. Connecting this thought to the idea that ice
represents a frozen or fixed mindset, the thawed ice/rain conveys a free flowing mindset, one
that does not hold onto time but instead allows it to go on. When Holden is faced with a chance
to let time pass on and let go of his pain, marked by the rain, he can t let go. As rain comes back
in the end of the novel, Holden mind it since he felt so damn happy all of a sudden, the way old
Phoebe kept going around and around (233). The rain is no longer a reminder of Allie s death but
a happy memory, because he can focus on the present and the way Phoebe rides so nicely around
the carrousel. By allowing

Exploratory Model
The ebbs and flows of relationships develop in breadth and depth of incremental intimate topics.
The prickly outer layer of an artichoke seems intimidating but it delves out tiny morsels,
requiring more attention as we access each layers. In the Orientation stage, we resemble the
outer bracts guarding the heart of the artichoke. There are parallel overlapping layers, with a
discrepancy between an ideal portrayed self and actual identity. The bracts open up as we access
the protective distal layers governed by opposing needs to reveal and conceal information of one
self. In the Exploratory Effective stage, we examine the role of interaction on the other party s
responses. It leads to validation if the person to whom we disclose to react... Show more content on

The exocarp represents the peripheral layer of the fruit, which look flimsy to seek for further
understanding of the inner layers of the fruit. Slicing the tomato in longitudinal section, we
observed two chambers. Like a four grid panes, we can apply the Johari Window in our
interactions to four areas known as open, blind, hidden and unknown. In the open area lies a level
of transparency for what is visible to one s self and others. The blind area contains the unsighted
traits visible to others, but this area is reduced through active feedback solicitation. The hidden area
remains veiled when there is a conscious disclosure of public information, which elicits lesser
intimate responses than that of private information. The unknown area contains repressed feelings
that once arose from traumatic experiences, which remains private. Over time, information
disclosure is central to liking if the other party reciprocates the exchange of self disclosure and
favors a reward cost balance. Between the outer layer and the seeds of the tomato, the mesocarp is
the juicy portion we consume, where it contains in depth information and reveals the inner self of

Mohapatra And Sex-Selective Abortion
Mohapatra expands upon Sujatha Jesudasan s and Tracy Weits s discussion in Eggs and
Abortions: The Language of Protection in Legislative Regulating Abortion and Egg Donation in
Debate over Two California Laws. In doing so, she argues that the use of women protective
arguments by anti abortion lobbyists in debates regarding sex selective abortions in the U.S. are
racially charged and based on a lack of evidential proof. Specifically, she argues that there is a
lack of proof of the overall supposed increase of sex selective abortions in the U.S., and a lack of
proof of the supposed trend of Asian women coming to U.S. with cultural son preferences electing
such procedures. Moreover, she makes a significant point that Jorawar and Yeung do not,

Examples Of Imperialism In The Movie Avatar
The following review will be about a movie named Avatar. Avatar dates back to 2009 and was
directed by James Cameron. The greediness of those in power will always results in the suffering
of those lacks power. This statement refers to the greediness that was depicted in the movie by
the Resources Development Administrators (RDA), which led to a forceful relocation of the Na
Vi people. The following essay will include the discussion of three anthropological themes that
were displayed. The first theme is the power of knowledge. Here I will discuss how knowledge
was used against the NA Vi people. The second theme is the notion of imperialism. The
colonization of the Pandora will be discussed under imperialism. The third theme is the notion of
ethics. Under ethics I will discuss the three main ethical principles that should be followed by every
ethnographer.

Avatar displays a solid anti imperialism message. Imperialism occurs when a particular country
utilises their political and military powers to gain control over other areas of the world.
According to Alcock and Young, 1974 there are five categories of imperialism which are
economic, cultural, political, military, and communication. However, the movie Avatar exhibits
two kinds of imperialism which is military and economic imperialism. The Na Vi people are
considered to be poor indigenous people, while the RDA are technologically literate and rich.
The RDA forcefully took over the Pandora because they wanted to build a Unobtanium. A
Unobtanium is a room temperature for energy. The evidence of imperialism from the movie is
displayed when the military force took down the tree of voices. It is also displayed at the end of
the movie where the battle between the people of Omaticaya and other tribes and the military
force occurred. This is when the home tree was also taken down which forced the people of
Omaticaya to

Satire of the Knight in the Prologue and Knight s Tale of...
Satire. Satire is a biting literary tool, one that Geoffery Chaucer used liberally when he wrote his
Canterbury Tales. Webster s New World Dictionary says that satire is the use of ridicule, sarcasm,
etc. to attack vices, follies, etc. Using that definition, I think that all of the pilgrims in the
Canterbury Talesare satirized to some extent; some of the satirizations are more subtle than others.
The Knight is one of the pilgrims that is more subtly satirized.
Chaucer satirizes knights and chivalry in two different ways: in the prologue and in the Knight s
Tale. The first way in the prologue is with the pilgrim Knight s character. Chaucer wanted to present
a realistic knight, but he also wanted to give the Knight some very ... Show more content on

Hodges, featured in April 1995 edition of The Chaucer Review, Hodges examines the reasons
behind Chaucer s decisions on the clothing of his Knight. After examining the introduction of the
Knight s character in the General Prologue of the Canterbury Tales, Ms. Hodges said that Chaucer
intended his Knight to be the one true to life portrait of a knight of the 14th century an every
knight of sorts. She also concluded that Chaucer wanted to go against the normal chivalric ideal of
a knight by presenting a knight as he really might have been: a basically good person, but with
imperfections. I disagree with Hodges about Chaucer s intentions when characterizing the knight. I
don t think the knight was meant to be a true to life portrait of the every knight .
I think that the reason Hodges and I disagree has to do with the scope of our examination. Hodges
was mostly examining the Knight s clothing, with only references to the rest of the Knight s
description in the prologue, and only briefly mentions the Knight s Tale. I am looking at the Knight
in a more general sense, and looking at clues in the entire description and the tale.
One of the generalizations Hodges makes is that Chaucer s Knight is not romantically ideal. On this
point, we definitely agree. There haven t been many changes in peoples conceptions of the ideal
knight since the 14th century. The ideal knight is the one

The novel portrays the feudal system of Japan by giving details of how the feudal structure is
formed during this time and gives a lot of information on people that ruled during that time. The
novel goes into detail about how lords rule Japan and how owning land is how people had power
in Japan back then. The novel also accurately portrays how this conflict over power between the
lords of the lands and the clans that are loyal to them. The novel goes into detail about Lord
Kiyomori fighting off the invasion of the Genji with Yoshitomo as their leader. The Sign Of The
Chrysanthemum also manages to accurately depict the events of this battle between Lord Kiyomori
and the Taira against the Yoshitomoand the Genji. This battle was a bloody one, which put Taria in
control of the country, but actually does not resolve the conflict between the clans. In this novel
Paterson writes about a boy that grows up into a man through his experiences in the city, but still
manages to take the time period in Japan and imply these situations into his life. The use of the
feudal structure and military historical context is the reason why this novel accurately portrays this

the common man feels like it is a service to be availed by actors, models and TV Stars. Contrary to
that opinion there are other people who would go in for a cosmetic surgery to look better and feel

Since people often face mid life crisis, and are left feeling old and bereft of sexual desire, a

Why Mitochondria And The Cell With Versatile Operating...
Abstract:
Although mitochondria and chloroplasts encodes handful of their own proteins, however, majority
of their required proteins have to be synthesized in the cytosol and translocated into their correct
destinations using specialized transporting networks: TOM/TIM complexes in mitochondria and
TOC/TIC complexes in chloroplasts. Molecular chaperones play critical roles in facilitating
functional competent protein import from the cytosol to their correct destinations, utilizing catalytic
motor components and other transporting channels. Biogenesis of both mitochondria and
chloroplasts and their maintenances in terms of transcription, translation and protein import into
their various numerous compartments requires very tight coordination to overcome energetic
barriers, protein aggregation and protein degradation. This essay describes molecular chaperones
involvement in protein import from the cytosol into these double membraned organelle
compartments.
Introduction:
Mitochondria are the powerhouse of the cell with versatile operating systems (i.e. converts energy
derived from foods into cellular energy e.g. ATP, Amino Acid and lipid metabolisms, iron sulphur
clusters and haem biosynthesis, and also the regulation of apoptosis) (Harbauer et al., 2014,
Bolender et al., 2008, Wiedemann et al., 2004). Equally, chloroplasts are also very versatile and
operates several metabolic and cellular processes (i.e. photosynthesis, amino acid and lipid

When two companies merge with different corporate culture, it is important to find out which cultures to keep and which to lose. In determining the best practices, it is important to keep your employees feelings in mind. After all, without the employees, there may be no organization. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In opening the lines of communication, it will help unify the culture by suggesting that each employee learn about each other and their work to be on the same page. When opening the lines of communication, an organization also needs to establish the rules for both of the organizations to follow. Rule Implementing Implementing rules and sticking to them is a large process in merging two companies. This becomes such a large process because both of the companies have different cultures that need to be addressed. In the most ideal situation, the manager would overview the two cultures and establish what is to be kept, in doing so the new culture and rules will be set forth and the employees will be required to follow them. This will not be easy for those who have adapted to rules and do not want to change their ways. Sometimes feelings may be hurt, and employees may resign due to the new rules implemented. In order to keep the peace, one must explain that things will be changing, and they hope that those employed will embrace the change and work together with management to make the transition as easy as possible. Some employees may not see this fit, and will resign or complain with the new rules. The rules are in place for all of the employees, despite their age. Therefore, management needs to be strict on how they implement the rules. The consequences need to be told up front, and if someone if breaking the rules they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Evolution is a concept that has been researched extensively for over a century now and continues to bring interesting findings day after day. According to the Hardy Weinberg law (a principle that contributes to the understanding of evolution ) first introduced by Godfrey Hardy and Wilhelm Weinberg states that there are five possible agents of evolutionary change, including: natural selection, genetic drift, mutations, gene flow, and nonrandom mating. Nonetheless, the mechanism of interest for this particular lab is natural selection. According to Mader, Natural Selection is the mechanism, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although this is only one case the results all seem to give a reasonable explanation to how this simulation can be applied in natural environments. It is logical to assume that the phenotypes (colors) that stand out in the environment (map) will most likely be the ones selected (eaten) by predators. For example, in this experiment the phenotypes subjected to positive selection pressure for the most part were dark colored dots or dots that were better blended into the environment, more specifically the green and clear colors who most likely blended with the grasses or trees. The phenotypes that were subjected to negative selection pressure were much of the bright colored dots that stood out in the environment, more specifically the hot pink, orange, and yellow colors. Furthermore, there are many similar documented cases and scenarios that go to show that these types of results are likely in the wild. One example is that of the tadpole fish who alter their body symmetry (the way they look) in response to predators. • 14. Descriptive Essay On Ballet Slippers The young, fashionable man contrasted starkly against other High Ground patrons, who were nearly all dressed casually. However, this casual clothing took different forms; from the woman in the casual dress to the outdoorsy looking man, there were many variations on casual wear. For example, there was one young woman in the line who was wearing the same shorts and a tee combination as many other patrons. Hanging off the back of her backpack were a pair of pink leather shoes, soft and supple, with worn pads on the bottom where the material was gathered in from the top. They were hooked onto her backpack with a carabiner through the criss crossed elastic bands which pulled the two sides of the shoe together. Through iconic reasoning, I recognized them as ballet slippers. This lead me to assume that this young woman was a dancer, coming from or going to class or rehearsal. This indexical assumption was based on my recognizing the ballet slippers and understanding what ballet slippers are generally used for, as well as knowing that rarely, if ever, someone would hang a pair of well used ballet slippers off of their backpack as a sort of fashion statement. After mentally cataloging the woman in the summer dress, the hiker, the fashionable young man, and now the ballerina based on clothes and accessories, I tried to find a sign that was not clothing. I noticed the young woman at the table next to mine, who was industriously typing away on her laptop, referring every now and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Solving White Tailed Deer With Hunting And Sterilization Samantha Shields 952673863 ENGL 030 001 Dr. Aaron Mauro 3 December 2014 Solving White Tailed Deer Overabundance With Hunting and Sterilization In the past few decades, white tailed deer populations in North America have increased drastically. Due to some relief in predation in correlation with changes in the environment deer populations in many zones meet or exceed 10 deer per square kilometer, which is a much higher ratio than in the 1960 s and 1970 s (CГґtГ© 116). With an overabundance of deer, many problems arise; the diversity and success of habitats decline, agriculture suffers, more deer vehicle collisions occur, and quite a few more issues appear. In order to maintain a healthy number of deer and reduce these issues, deer populations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An abundance of deer initially seems to indicate healthy habitats and flourishing wildlife; however, overabundance actually leads to severe problems for ecosystems. One of the reasons deer populations have been able to grow so exponentially is because many forested suburban areas allow for deer habitats with low risk of predation (Boulanger 174). In correlation with their suburban living, overpopulated deer end up crossing more roads and highways, posing as more pressing issues towards automobiles and trains and causing more frequent collisions. Next, and quite obviously, overabundance creates overcrowding in habitats. Less apparent, however, is the idea that with increased browsing of new tree seedlings, overpopulated deer decrease species diversity in forests and reduce tree growth, which leads to a lack of protection from erosion and floods (CГґtГ© 117). Deer also forage selectively, meaning certain species of plant will be eaten more frequently than others, often resulting in less diversity, ground coverage, and competition between plants (CГґtГ© 124). This, in turn, makes ecosystems less suitable to other species, in particular the foliage. Steeve CГґtГ© quotes Hobbs and Paine, who explain, By affecting competitive interactions among plants with varying levels of chemical defenses and by altering successional trajectories, deer alter ecosystem processes that include energy transfer, soil development, and ... Unfortunately, these bad smells can stick around and may require a more thorough cleaning, sometimes by a biohazard team. Fortunately, simply keeping your home clean is one of the top ways to prevent bad smells from sticking around your house. There are a few steps you can do to prevent bad odors in your home. Regularly go through your refrigerator and pantry, throwing out food that is no longer good. Rather than throwing it in your kitchen garbage, where it is likely to make your whole kitchen stink, take the food to an outdoor trash or dumpster. Clean up after your pets. For many people, their pets are an integral part of their family. Unfortunately, pets can also be a smelly part of your family. Make sure your dog gets a bath regularly. Keep any pet cages or tanks clean. If your pet has an accident in your house, clean it up right away. The sooner you discover the problem, the less time it will have to seep into your flooring. • 17. The Impact Of Ferdinand Porsche On Germany s Efforts... A. Summary of Evidence : Critical Analysis of the sources indicates that Ferdinand Porsche had made a large impact on Germany s efforts during World War 2. Due to his affiliation and close relation to Hitler he had been tasked with many engineering projects that had come to the aid of Germany s military forces and perhaps had become the economic miracle that Germany was in need of with his success of the VW beetle. By diving into the sources I have found that Porsche s early stages began by supplying German troops with new aviation technology as well as tanks known as the Elefant. An interview conducted at Porsche Centre Johannesburg which is one of the largest centres in the world clearly back these sources. It was made clear to me by the interviewee that the roots of the Porsche company do indeed stem from a military and agricultural background. However Ferdinand Porsche also had a strong relationship with the USSR which seemed to cause some doubts. By reviewing the German Economy during World War 2 it was clear that Germany was in need of an economic miracle in order to save it as their economy had taken a large hit during the war. The sources clearly point that the success of the VW Beetle did indeed help to resurrect the economy but however the economy had already bled out by then. Therefore Mr Ferdinand Porsche and his company did indeed help Germany in the war and it could be stated that the war could have ended much earlier if his aid was not there. Why ... In order to overcome the issues involved in the state of nature, people entered into agreements to protect themselves and their properties. They did this by uniting, rescinding certain rights under the state of nature, and pledging themselves to an authority that will guarantee certain protections. They all agree to live together under those laws and create a mechanism that enforces the contract and the laws that come with it. Additionally, given the lack of a modern family structure, it is unlikely that a child would know the exact identification of their father. Carole Pateman points out that under these conditions of nature, it would seem unlikely that women would agree to have children. According to Hobbes, they have the same primary drive for survival and perpetual existence that men do. The question then lies: why would women put themselves at greater risk by caring for children? Carole Pateman prompts us that the worrying part of Hobbes s idea of family may not be its contractual form but its absolutism. While in his political contract we give absolute rule to the sovereign, such as a monarch, in the family contract we also turn power over to an absolute ruler. This absolute ruler is the master of the family. While Hobbes leaves open the possibility that the mother could be the master of the household, however, mothers and women are removed from the discussion of the family once the idea of the master is introduced. In his novel, Hard Times , Charles Dickens satirizes the English educational system, society, and economics, but most importantly, through them, he criticizes the many abuses of utilitarianism. Many writers such as Bornali Nath Dowerah and Ali Taghizadeh have done research on Dicken s work mostly focusing on utilitarianism and its negative impacts on society especially on those of the lower class. Further reforms in the early 2000s include raising deposit insurance to $250,000 per depositor while banks would be required to meet premium payments in advance (Fdic.gov, 2014). I noticed that television consist of all white people. Throughout my research paper I hope to cover certain aspects of African American heritage. Aspects such as blacks making up the largest minority group in the United States, although Mexican Americans are rapidly changing that. The contributions blacks have provided to our country are immeasurable. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Individuality was not stressed but rather the importance of the extended family. I believe that African Americans suffering through the hardships of slavery strengthened the idea of kinship even further. The unity of the African culture became strong due to a series of trials and tribulations. The majority of the slaves were employed in agricultural areas in the South. By the mid 19th century, a large number of slaves worked in urban areas as well, and about 5% worked in more industrial occupations. The hours of the slave workers were long. The average life expectancy of African slaves was at least 12% lower than whit Americans in 1850 and the infant mortality rate was 25% higher for slaves. Oftentimes slave marriages and families dissolved due to separation. This concept is horrible when you take under consideration that family was the entire basis of African culture. Although frequent separation occurred slaves were very careful to pass on the surnames of their black family of origin to their children. Kinship again is an importance in African society. Although the first steps towards in improvements for African American culture began in the North, social and economic conditions didn t improve much at all. The racial attitudes of whites were still obvious among the white society. Laws banning interracial marriage and voting among free blacks accompanied every northern state emancipation. Discuss this in relation to your set text. Experiences allow one to move from moral blindness to a clearer vision of what really matters. This is evident in William Shakespeare s King Lear where Lear goes mad which enables him to broaden his insight and wisdom and as a result he develops truer and more honest values. This allows him to see the wrongdoings he had made in the past and atone for them consequently redeeming himself. Human suffering can catalyse an individual s anagnorisis which gives them a clearer vision to what really matters. This is prevalent in Shakespeare s King Lear where Lear descends ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Shakespeare s illustrates this notion through the relationship between Lear and Cordelia. Initially, Lear is blinded by his own pride as he sees love as simply flattering words. Shakespeare s use of an aside for Cordelia when she states I am sure my love s more ponderous than my tongue depicts her truthfulness and honesty which serves to amplify Lear s blindness as he misunderstands her causing him to disown her and disclaim all [his] paternal care, Propinquity, and property of blood. His moral blindness ruins his relationship with Cordelia as banishes her and gives his kingdom to his other daughters, Reagan and Goneril. However, as the play progresses his vision becomes clearer as he realises Reagan and Goneril s deceitful nature, likening Regan to a vulture due to her sharp toothed unkindness. After going mad, Lear is able to see how he has faulted Cordelia and it is his reconciliation with Cordelia which signifies his partial redemption. His character development from a self absorbed king to a caring father reflects his clearer vision for what truly matters. When he slowly regains his sanity, he remembers not these garments but recognises his daughter as he tells I think this lady to be my child Cordelia. This indicates his change in values as the first thing he attempts to identify is his daughter. This is reinforced in the high modality language when Lear claims it will take a brand from heaven separate him from Cordelia. The apologetic tone when Lear tells Cordelia I ll kneel down and ask of thee forgiveness symbolises Lear s enlightenment as it exemplifies his desire to repent for his actions. The death of Cordelia redeems Lear as his actions highlight his love for her. Shakespeare employs religious imagery in the stage direction re enter King Lear, with Cordelia dead in his arms which alludes to Virgin Mary holding her dead son Christ in her arms. Effects Of Exposure On Tobacco Smoke The adverse effects of exposure to tobacco smoke while in utero and during early childhood are well documented, with detrimental consequences occurring within the lungs and brain, resulting in decreased intelligence and behavioural changes, such as heightened excitability (1,2). Tobacco smoke exposure occurs prenatally from smoking mothers, or postnatally by environmental tobacco exposure, and has been associated with low birth weight and head circumference, and creates vasoconstriction resulting in reduced blood flow to the uterus, initiating oxygen and nutrient deprivation (1). Additionally, tobacco smoke targets the developing nervous system, resulting in cell proliferation and differentiation alterations in utero, and abnormal synaptic activity during infancy (1). Synapses regulate intercellular communication within the brain, and are formed via a variety of guidance cues and recognition signals, which direct outgrowing axons precisely to the target cell (3), with abnormal activity ultimately leading to cell loss and neuronal damage (1). Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH), a compound found within tobacco smoke (4), are toxic, carcinogenic and neurotoxic (5), and are also a common air pollutant generated during the incomplete combustion of organic material, such as coal, diesel and gasoline (5). J., Smith, C. T. titled Post Learning Sleep Improves Cognitive Emotional Decision Making: Evidence for a Deck B Sleep Effect in the Iowa Gambling Task sets out to answer if sleeping helps improve decision making. For this study, they used the Iowa Gambling Task (IGT) on participants. After the IGT, participants had 12 hours of being awake, 12 hours of sleep, or 12 hours of sleep followed by 12 hours of being awake before taking the IGT again. This experiment is important because it would show if we make better decisions after sleeping on it. For important decisions, such as laws, business decisions, and even jury decisions, we want the best results, and sleeping on these decisions may provide better results. The main questions the researchers tried to answer were when starting out do people choose the deck with a more constant chance of winning, when learning more about the game do people change their choices, and does sleeping after the first session improve the participant s performance in the next session. Their hypothesis, based on their previous experiments, was that initially more participants would choose from decks B and D, but after they learn more about the game they will start to choose more cards from decks C and D. The characteristics of ice during the winter represents how Holden deals with his pain initially by preventing change. The rain near the end symbolizes that he handles grief by letting time flow, since change is inevitable. The ice in the beginning of the novel reflects how Holden deals with grief by refusing to confront the realities of his memories to keep them perfect, a way of stopping change. Later, he learns to embrace this idea of letting go by focusing on the present moment. In the beginning of the story, Holden tells the reader about the night of Allie s death and how he had wounded his hand punching windows in the garage. He added that his hand still hurts [him] once in a while, when it rains and all (44). The hand represents his aching feelings about Allie s death, since he had wounded it from frustration after Allie died. Because it still hurts in the rain, Holden hasn t found closure in Allie s death yet. The rain in this scene can be interpreted as thawed ice, since when ice melts, it turns into water. Connecting this thought to the idea that ice represents a frozen or fixed mindset, the thawed ice/rain conveys a free flowing mindset, one that does not hold onto time but instead allows it to go on. When Holden is faced with a chance to let time pass on and let go of his pain, marked by the rain, he can t let go. The Knight is one of the pilgrims that is more subtly satirized. Chaucer satirizes knights and chivalry in two different ways: in the prologue and in the Knight s Tale. After examining the introduction of the Knight s character in the General Prologue of the Canterbury Tales, Ms. Hodges said that Chaucer intended his Knight to be the one true to life portrait of a knight of the 14th century an every knight of sorts. She also concluded that Chaucer wanted to go against the normal chivalric ideal of a knight by presenting a knight as he really might have been: a basically good person, but with imperfections. I disagree with Hodges about Chaucer s intentions when characterizing the knight. I don t think the knight was meant to be a true to life portrait of the every knight . Hodges was mostly examining the Knight s clothing, with only references to the rest of the Knight s description in the prologue, and only briefly mentions the Knight s Tale. Abstract: Although mitochondria and chloroplasts encodes handful of their own proteins, however, majority of their required proteins have to be synthesized in the cytosol and translocated into their correct destinations using specialized transporting networks: TOM/TIM complexes in mitochondria and TOC/TIC complexes in chloroplasts. Molecular chaperones play critical roles in facilitating functional competent protein import from the cytosol to their correct destinations, utilizing catalytic motor components and other transporting channels. Biogenesis of both mitochondria and chloroplasts and their maintenances in terms of transcription, translation and protein import into their various numerous compartments requires very tight coordination to overcome energetic barriers, protein aggregation and protein degradation. This essay describes molecular chaperones involvement in protein import from the cytosol into these double membraned organelle compartments.
