Essay On Liberation
Writing an essay on the topic of liberation can be a challenging yet intellectually rewarding
endeavor. The complexity arises from the multifaceted nature of the concept itself, encompassing
a wide range of disciplines such as philosophy, sociology, political science, and more. Liberation
is a nuanced and subjective notion, demanding careful consideration of various perspectives and
historical contexts.
To begin with, defining liberation can be a daunting task as it is often understood and interpreted
differently across cultures, societies, and individuals. This necessitates a thorough exploration of
the philosophical underpinnings and cultural implications associated with the concept. Delving
into the writings of influential thinkers who have grappled with the idea of liberation, such as
existentialists, political theorists, and liberation theologians, adds another layer of complexity to
the essay.
Furthermore, addressing the historical dimension of liberation requires a meticulous examination
of movements, revolutions, and social transformations that have sought to attain freedom and
emancipation. Analyzing the challenges, successes, and failures of these endeavors contributes to
a comprehensive understanding of the topic.
The essay should not only explore theoretical aspects but also consider practical applications of
liberation in contemporary contexts. This involves examining social justice movements, political
struggles, and the ongoing fight against oppression. Balancing theory and real-world examples
requires a nuanced approach to present a well-rounded argument.
Crafting a coherent and persuasive essay on liberation demands critical thinking, research skills,
and the ability to synthesize information from diverse sources. The writer must navigate through
the complexities of the topic, providing a thorough analysis while maintaining clarity and
coherence in the narrative.
In conclusion, tackling an essay on liberation is undoubtedly a formidable task. The depth and
breadth of the subject require a careful and thoughtful exploration of various facets, demanding
a high level of intellectual engagement. However, by grappling with the complexities of the
concept, the writer has the opportunity to contribute to a deeper understanding of liberation and
its significance in our world.

Mythological Hardship Research Paper
Mythological Hardship and Suffering In various cultures, human hardship and
suffering can be viewed in many different ways, from a cultures belief system and
values, or from personal choices. As mythological stories are read, we can see
some common patterns and messages that emerge throughout different cultures.
This paper will illustrate the human hardship and suffering in through the cultures
of Greece, Rome, Babylon, Norse and Iceland. In the beginning Almighty God
created heaven and earth and everything that goes with them and, last of all, two
human beings, Adam and Eve, from who have come families. Their progeny
multiplied and spread over all the world (p. 83). As time passed, some people were
good and obedient to God s commandments, however, some people were not. They
turned to a life of sin. God did not create heaven and earth for people to misbehave,
so he sent a destructive flood to drown the world and all creatures living in it (p. 84).

65). The Mesopotamians came from Babylon. Enuma Elish is one of the main
sources for the stories told by the Mesopotamians to describe the origin of their
world (p. 61). The story explains the obstacles for control of the universe between
the primeval goddess Tiamat and her descendant, the hero god Marduk. After
defeating Tiamat, Marduk, the Babylonian pantheon s preeminent god, creates the
world from her body (p. 61). The story of Enuma Elish describes the struggles of the
primary gods in a way that enhances Marduk s stature and pre eminence (p. 61). The
legend of Enuma Elish was crucial to the Babylonian and Assyrian peoples, it gives
us a great deal of information about the theogony and cosmology of ancient
Mesopotamia and contributes significantly to our understanding of ancient Near

Fighting the Swine Flu
Swine Flu The swine flu also known as the H1N1 virus was first detected in 2009,
it was called swine flu because the virus was similar to those found in pigs it is
now a human seasonal flu virus that also circulates in pigs. The H1N1 viruses has
continues to circulate since the sickness, 2014 is the first season since 2009 that
H1N1 has been so major in the United States. You can t get H1N1 from correctly
handled and cooked pork or pork products. (H1N1 (originally referred to as Swine
Flu)) In 1976, there was an outbreak of swine flu at Fort Dix. This virus wasn t the
same as the 2009 H1N1 outbreak. There was one death at Fort Dix. The
government decided to produce a vaccine against this virus. The vaccine was
associated with rare instances of neurological problems and was stopped. Some
individuals wonder that formalin, used to deactivate the virus, may have played a
role in the growth of problem in 1976. There is no proof that anyone who found
this vaccine would be protected against the 2009 swine flu virus. One of the
reasons it takes a few months to develop a new vaccine is to test the vaccine for
safety to avoid the problems seen in the 1976 vaccine. People with active
infections or diseases of the nervous system are also not suggested to get flu
vaccines. Early in the spring of 2009, H1N1 flu virus was first noticed in Mexico,
causing some deaths among younger people. It began growing during the summer
2009 and quickly spread to the U.S. and to Europe and eventually
Vietnam War Paranoia
The horrors of The Vietnam War have stuck with American soldiers since they were
first deployed in Vietnam and every vietnam soldier remembers, the paranoia that ate
away at them during their months in Vietnam. Vietnam War literature written by
American authors who were in the war demonstrates the paranoia they felt during the
war. These authors would express their feelings by writing while they were in Vietnam
and after they left. When soldiers write about the war after they left, it shows how
they still remember the paranoiathey felt while in Vietnam. Vietnam was paranoia,
because of the continuous fearof the environment, traps, and ambushes, that
soldiers felt and described in multiple poems and stories such as If I Die in a
Combat Zone and The Things They Carried. The American soldiers in Vietnam felt
paranoia because of the horrible traps such as land mines or bouncing bettys that
were hidden throughout Vietnam. Tim O Brien in his memoir If I die in a
Combat Zone describes the booby trapped mortar rounds well by saying, They
hang from trees. They nestle in shrubbery. They lie under the sand. They wait
beneath the mud floors of huts. They haunted us (If I die in a Combat Zone 123).
In this quote O Brien describes how the booby trapped mortar rounds would haunt
soldiers and how the soldiers never knew where they were. The soldiers were
paranoid and haunted by the mortar rounds because they could be anywhere and they
were everywhere in Vietnam. O Brien also describes

Harry Potter s The Casual Vacancy
After the success of her popular Harry Potter series, J.K. Rowling has recently
branched out from writing children s literature. Her first adult novel, The Casual
Vacancy, explores more mature topics and is aimed at a new demographic than her
previous works. She challenges social issues with her dark themes and her
impeccable writing style captures the wide range of problems at the heart of a
small town. It becomes more apparent throughout the novel that each character is
connected in a web of misfortunes. Each individual has their own flaws and it
becomes more apparent that there are additional underlying issues at the center of
the pretty little town (Tait). J.K. Rowling s The Casual Vacancy, Krystal Weedon
is the troubled hero of the novel as she struggles to overcome difficulties in her life
after the death of her mentor, Barry Fairbrother. The author behind this
controversial narrative has become one of the world s most decorated authors due
to the widespread success of her novels. Although she is well known today,
Rowling had very humble beginnings. Born on July 31, 1965 to Peter and Anne
Rowling, Joanne became the newest addition to her family beside her older sister,
Diana. During her childhood, Rowling lived in several different places throughout
Great Britain. Her family moved from Chipping Sodbury to Winterbourne, and then
again to Tutshill ( J.K. Rowling ). Rowling took an interest to writing at a young age
and began composing stories at the age of

Gravestone of a Woman with Her Attendant The Gravestone of a Woman with her
attendant is a sculpture created by an unknown artist and is now on display at the
Getty Villa in Malibu, California. The sculpture is of a womanseated in a cushioned
armchair, reaching out to lightly touch the top of a box or chest held by her
attendant. We can tell from the sculpture that the women is of a higher class
because of how her hair is done, the significant amount of jewelry, and the decorated
throne that she lounges in. This sculpture is an extremely detailed Grecian
gravestone made from a thick slab of colorless marble around 100 B.C. The woman

With the sculpture straight ahead, the audience sees a profile view of the scene;
however, the artist created the sculpture with enough space and depth to be able to
view the front of the woman s face from a side angle. The artist created the seated
woman with much detail; her nose, chin, slightly opened mouth, pronounced brow
line and inset eyes show this. She reaches for the chest with her right arm in a very
delicate manner as her left arm lays on the throne for support. The woman s female
servant is standing in front, below her, holding an opened box or a chest. The box
the servant holds is not defined, but we can assume that is some sort of a chest
holding valuables to the seated woman, presumably something the woman would
be buried with. The attendant is significantly smaller than the seated woman, which
can suggest that the servant is of much less importance or is younger than the high
class woman. The servant wears a robe somewhat alike to the seated woman, but
with less detail and decoration. The robe the attendant wears seems like there is
less fabric draping her body below the midriff and there is also no fabric wrapped
around her forearm like the woman on the thrown. Another difference between the
two women is the missing shoes on the servant, which also symbolizes less
importance. We can see this from her exposed he poking out from underneath the
draping robe. The servant s hair is also messy and not held back like the woman

Animal Abuse In The Circus
In a circus somewhere right now, an endangered tiger is leaping through a ring of
fire as circus patrons gasp, and then cheer. Elsewhere, a majestic elephant, the world
s largest land mammal, is carefully balancing on a tiny pedestal and performing for
the crowd (Anastasia). Many people have visited the circusand have enjoyed
watching endangered animals parade around the stage, but many do not know what
goes on behind the scenes. Animals are taken forcefully from their homes and
families. Bullhooks, electric prods, ropes and fireplace pokers are used to train the
animals in the circus (Godd). This process is hidden completely from the public and
is wholly unmonitored by any federal, state, or local entity (Godd). Ringling Bros.
and Barnum and Bailey Circus was a well known circus that used animals, and as

People were shocked at the day to day casual violence, we didn t know any better.
Now, we do. As Ringling has found out, people are better educated and ... recognize
suffering and cruelty in other species. They don t want to see animals suffer for 15

to shift. When it comes to animal rights, the tide of public opinion has turned. A
2015 Gallup poll found that a majority of Americans 62% believe that animals
deserve protection, and 32% believe animals should have the same rights as people

Reflecting on and changing the face of ethnic minority psychology is the
importance of society today. Race, ethnicity, culture and diversity are pressing
societal issues. Many people face issues everyday with their identity, which is the
sense of self being independent of one s ethnic background; empowering it and then
transforming it; whether transforming is for the good or bad. People in our society,
mainly our youth, have to deal with the pressures of being talked about when it
comes down to what racethey are, how many freckles they have or their face, how
short or tall they are, and various other things. Interpersonal relationships are
considered to have a bidirectional influence, which is often captured in the saying

Acceptance of your identity is assigned to you by society. There are five different
stages of Identity Development. First being your personal identity, followed by
the choice of group categorization, which is the individual being forced to choose a
minority identity, then there is enmeshment or the denial stage, which is when
there is confusion or guilt over choosing one identity. After this is appreciation,
when the person begins to appreciate aspects of the majority and last is integration,
which is when the person recognizes and values all identities. Embracing unity
through diversity, there is a strong commitment to each other and various
communities of color. It is important to let yourself know sometimes that you are
brilliant, that you are gorgeous, fabulous, and/or talented. As it was once stated by
Nelson Mandela, our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate, but that we are
powerful beyond measure. Being able to express and enjoy humor is largely
ignored which continues to be a problem today. You can not let someone defeat
you because you feel like it is getting the best of you. Stand up for who you are, not
for what people may think of you as being. Everyone is somebody special. At
different stages of their lives, people tend to take empowerment to another level as
far as to control what others are thinking. When it comes down to an individual s
identity, some may wish, I wish I were in another family, or I wish I had

Former governor Rick Perry once said When you have a full time legislature, they
just feel pretty inclined to be doing something. So they are going to dream up new
laws, new regulations and new statutes and generally all of those cost money.
(Champagne) Government does not need to be involved in everything, but it is
necessary to try and keep order and to protect the citizens. An additional argument
against a full time legislation is the belief that it would increase corruption due to
the fact that the legislators would have more time together to deliberate and give
in to the temptation of unethical practices. (Champagne 217) My opinion is that a
full time legislature would offer more time and money for the job to be completed
thoroughly. Instead of scheming, they would be able to research and discuss the
bills as they are being submitted. It seems that corruption is caused for two reasons.
The first being that currently there is simply not enough time to tackle all the
issues, so when one is approached with being persuaded to support a certain bill,
they act on it when they might not have even known that it existed. Secondly, the
minimal amount of pay for this job could play a role in one being tempted to these
corrupt practices for money or to enjoy things that they would otherwise not have
access to. Whether the legislature is currently corrupted or would be so if it becomes
a full time, it is difficult to deny the fact that the legislature is not an

The Presidential Election of 1992
In 1992 the incumbent president George Bush was seeking reelection. It was the
general consensus that he would be the hands down, no contest winner . When the
smoke had cleared and the votes were tallied, many were shocked at the results.
Arkansas Governor Bill Clinton had defeated the incumbent by a landslide! How
could this be? How did the commander and chief of what could be considered the
greatest victory in modern American history defeat the Iraqi army and one year later
lose the election for the presidency? The answers to these questions as well as
explanations for the outcome lie within the campaign strategies and tactics used by
each candidate. There were various major political events and ... Show more content

There were several mistakes that Bush made during his attempts to capture
reelection. During his 1988 election campaign George Bush made a powerful
promise that captured the interest of many. The promise was clear and simple,
read my lips, no new taxes. Many of his supporters held him to this promise. In
June of 1990 the president agreed to a tax increase that was aimed at lowering the
national debt. Most outraged by this were conservative republicans, as a result
they abandoned Bush and granted Perot their support. The mere involvement of
third party candidates has helped shape the outcome in previous presidential
elections. Since 1860 third party candidates have appeared in seven presidential
elections, candidates of the incumbent party have lost six of those (Burnham 1993,
1). Public opinion polls are very important; they provide a general idea of how the
public feels about certain issues. Most candidates campaigning for office know this
and try to address the concerns of the people. Throughout the general election stage
public opinion polls indicated that many Americans didn t approve of how Bush
was handling the economy. The following indicate the percentage that disapproved:
October 1990 55%, March 1991 43% (Gulf War Victory), and in November 1991

Cities Of Chicago Chapter Summaries
BELIEF SYSTEMS 1. In Chicago there were many different ritualistic events and
activities in which the people were involved, many of which thousands of people
would gather just to hear about. Two thousand people gathered on the sidewalk and

the news about the big fair that was coming up. This fair was deep in the hearts of
the Chicagopeople, just as the superbowl is in the hearts of Americans in today s

Reasonation Styles Of Rebecca Loot, Rebecca Fadiman
And...
There are multiple argumentation styles and types of reasoning a writer can use to
make their argument effective. There are three main argument styles, which are
called the Aristotelian approach, the Rogerian approach, and the Toulmin approach.
Each of these styles incorporates evidence in different ways and have the claim stated
in different sections of the argument. There are different types of reasoning that can
be used to strengthen a writer s argument, which include inductive and deductive
reasoning. However, writers can accidently use fallacious reasoning, which can make
their arguments invalid and unreliable. Fallacious reasoning can also discredit the
author s argument. Anne Fadiman and Rebecca Skloot have different and similar
writing techniques. Anne Fadiman uses a Rogerian approach in her writing whereas
Rebecca Skloot uses the Aristotelian approach. Even though they both have fallacies
within their arguments, Rebecca Skloot is more effective and successful in her
arguments than Anne Fadiman because she uses an Aristotelian approach and uses
different types of inductive/ deductive reasoning to strengthen her claim.
Anne Fadiman, uses a Rogerian approach as her argumentation style in her book
called The Spirit Catches You and You Fall Down. A Rogerian argumentation style is
a conflict solving technique that works towards finding a common ground. For
example, in the beginning of her book, Fadiman states:
Dan had no way of knowing that Foua and Nao Kao had already

Investigating The Effect Of Ph On The Reaction Of A...
Introduction
I am going to examine how hydrogen peroxide (acidic fluid) will modify the outcome
of a poultry (enzyme) reaction.
Goal
Observe and record what happens when enzymes (chicken) are added to different
amounts of acid (hydrogen peroxide) mixed with water. The activity level of these
enzymes will differ and be dependent upon several factors, such as consistency, size
and shape of the molecule. Specific factor will be the concentration enzyme and
substrate. I will conduct a controlled experiment to determine the influence of pH on
the enzyme catalase and the release of oxygen.
Hypothesis
Acidic fluid on an enzymatic would react in different ways based on the strength of
the acid solution. The stronger the acid solution, there will be more of a reaction and
the stronger the base solution, there will be less of the reaction.
Pre lab Hypothesis
1.What do you expect to happen when an enzyme is added to an acid?
a.The acid will cause the enzyme to release oxygen in the form of bubbles and will
eventually dissolve the enzyme if given a long enough time frame.
2.Is Hydrogen Peroxide an acid or a base? Why?
a.Hydrogen Peroxide is a weak acid with PH level of 6.2, but it is still an acid.
3.What would happen if a stronger base ratio compared to a stronger acid ratio was
used?
a.There would not be much of a reaction at all because the base does not have a
strong enough PH level to break down the enzymes.
4.Which solution between the acid and the base do I

The Surprising Science Of Happiness Rhetorical Analysis
The Psychological Immune System In the Ted Talk The Surprising Science of
Happiness by Dan Gilbert in 2004, he talks about the psychological immune system
(4:30). In the lecture he uses different rhetorical technics to strengthen his examples.
The logic of logos, pathos and ethos are used to persuade the audience. Logos is the
appeal to reason, and it focuses on the practicality of the object. Ethosis the appeal to
authority, and an example is the use of an authoritative figure as a promotion. Pathos
is the appeal to emotion, which acts upon relating to and drawing out the emotions
of the audience (Kirszer and Mandell 13). To understand the purpose of the lecture
requires an analysis of the rhetorical strategies and logos, paths, ethos being used as a
means of persuasion to appeal to the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The purpose of the lecture is to encourage people to understand the true phycology of
happiness. Most people do not understand the way of thinking or how the brain
works. Dan Gilbert states the understanding of thought as an unknown bias because
of the psychological immune system (4:30) making humans have a preconceived
notion about happiness. People subconsciously divide happiness in to two categories:
natural happiness and synthetic happiness. Natural happiness occurs in the brain
when someone gets what they want. Synthetic happiness is happiness developed by
the brain to protect a person s ego, by making the unwanted outcome justifiable. The
negative unwanted outcome must be justified as superior to the original want
because the brain cannot deal with the cognitive dissonance of being denied.
Cognitive dissonance is a state of tension that occurs whenever a person holds two

Designing horizontal axis wind turbine (HAWT) blades to achieve satisfactory levels
of performance starts with knowledge of the aerodynamic forces acting on the
blades. In this paper, HAWT blade design is studied from the aspect of
aerodynamic view and the basic principles of the aerodynamic behaviours of
HAWTs are investigated. Firstly, blade design procedure for an optimum rotor
according to CFD analysis as well as analytical calculations. Then designed blade
shape is modified such that modified blade will be lightly loaded regarding the
highly loaded of the designed blade and power prediction of modified blade is
analysed. When the designed blade shape is modified, it is seen that the power
extracted from the wind is reduced about 10% and the length of modified blade is
increased about 5% for the same required power.

Essay On Infective Endocarditis
National statistics of maintaining a lifestyle of poor diet, little exercise, and
frequent drug use are steadily climbing. Increases in lipid and cholesterol intake, as
well as decreases in regular physical activity is causing an increase in obesity and
disease with widely known effects. 1 These behaviors are deeply rooted in the cause
of heartdiseases. It has been shown through animal testing that a high lipid, calcium,
and carbohydrate increases the incidence of aortic valvehardening, thickening, and
lipidemic lesion formation. 2 Obesity is alarmingly prevalent in children at or below
the age of five. In fact, the World Health Organization (WHO) approximates that 18

Infective endocarditis is an infection of microorganisms, whether it be bacterial or
viral, which form colonies within the endothelial lining of the heart tissue. This
initiates an immune response that causes the infected sites to grow. Figure 1 8 shows
vegetations on the aortic valve which prevent it from functioning properly. Without
the ability to fully seal during diastole, blood is pulled back through the aortic valve
from the aorta. This disrupts the pressure in the left ventricle in such a way that
creates unnecessary stress on the muscle. Infective endocarditis that is present on the
right side of the heart (including the aortic valve) is of highest incidence within the
population of recreational intravenous drug users at 46% 78% of reported cases. 9
The risk of infective endocarditis causing vegetation on and around the aortic valve
increases after valve replacement surgery. A study done in Australia observed 2443
aortic valve replacement surgeries, taking into consideration their pre and post
operation condition. Of said patients, 3.7% developed infective endocarditis. All
valve prostheses were either of allograft (human), xenograft (porcine, bovine, or
equine), or mechanical design (composite synthetics), the xenograft being the most
popular.

Free Will In Sir Gawain And The Green Knight
Gawain and the Green Knight is a poem about of honor, courage, and knightliness.
Gawain had to go on an adventure to face the Green Knight after cutting off his head.
He faced many challenges to his honor and his faith. The section that showed his faith
and honor the most was the hunting scene and the courtly scene. Gawain and the Lord
s scene were very similar because they both had main ideas connected to them,
such as fate, courage, and deceit. The hunting scene and the courting scene
portrayed Gawain and Reynard escaping their fate for a while. Reynard escaped
the hunt for a while by hiding before dawn. Gawain rejected the ring the lady gave
him but could not reject the girdle. Reynard s fate was to die as Gawain s fate was to

his fate caught up when getting his head chopped off by the Green Knight. Since
Gawain did not give Bertilak the girdle his knightly dishonor became his fate and
got nicked on the neck by the Green Giant s axe. This is related to the hunting
scene because Reynard was escaping his fate with Bertilak just as Gawain was.
Reynard was the fox that Bertilak was hunting. Reynard was very sneaky and was
able to evade Bertilak for a short moment of time escaping the traps and the

The Carbon Short Story
The Carbon Story The story starts in the Biosphere Animal. There is a piece of
carbon and lignin was his name. He had recently embarked on a journey through a
deer. Lignin was inside the deer for twenty hours. Afterword, lignin jumped into what
he thought was a pool, which was the dirt. He was now apart of the biosphere soil.
While swimming in the soil for fourteen years, Lignin felt something tugging on him.
Mr. mushroom came into sight and Lignin saw him as a fun guy. Mr. mushroom
asked Lignin if he would like to fly. Lignin responded with an excited Yes . In a short
time, Mr. mushroom managed to turn Lignin into a robot that named CO2. CO2 had
then used his newly gained powers to fly into the Atmosphere.

For this reason, he stayed there for 40 years. Eventually, he became lonely and
decided that he wanted to swim with the fishes. To do this, he dissolved himself into
Lake Powell. CO2 was now apart of the Hydrosphere.
Consequently, CO2 had been changed by the water into a carbonate ion in the
hydrosphere. To adapt to the new form, he gave himself the name: Carbo. He had
stayed there for 24 years. Carbo, had one day meet a snail named Gary which had a
cracked shell. Feeling empathetic, Carbo asked what had happen with Gary s shell.
Gary explained that the current had propelled him right into a rock. Carbo had now
been determined to reinforce Gary s shell. According to plan, Carbo became apart of
Gary s shell. Resulting in Carbo meeting the world of the Lithosphere Limestone.
After his 24 years in the Hydrosphere, Carbo had become incorporated into
limestone. His stay lasted millions of years inside the sunset quarter. One day he
was abruptly caught in a volcanic eruption. Consequently, his limestone shell was
dissolved. However, Carbo had once again been reborn a CO2. At the time he didn t
understand why, but he wanted to leave to the atmosphere once again. CO2 listened

Benefits to Company on Using Data Mining and Data Warehouse

system. For example person sitting in the main office can access information from
the web portal currently what are the orders made by a particular sales man and
what orders are ready to ship from warehouse. Same way warehouse person can
access the orders that need to be shipped. Once the orders are ready warehouse staff
can commits through the web portal to acknowledge main office.
This database provides general reports for. E.g. Daily Sales report by product or by
customer or by route. These reports are helpful particularly for real time reporting
but they don t allow in depth analysis. The possibilities for reporting and analysis are
endless. When it comes to analyzing data, a static list is insufficient. There s an
intrinsic need for aggregating, summarizing, and drilling down into the data. A data
warehouse enables you to perform many types of analysis:
Descriptive (what has happened)
Diagnostic (why it happened)
Predictive (what will happen)
Prescriptive (what to do about it)
This is the level of analytics required to drive real quality, cost and process

The Importance Of Prostitution In Canada
Prostitution is a male, female or transgender that sales sexual services in exchange
for money without attachment. Many countries consider it to be an abomination,
while some other countries choose to accept the trade. Prostitution is recognized as
a heavy topic of discussion and in this essay, we will be discussing its prevalence to
Canada s society, how it relates to law enforcement/Canadian legal code and lastly,
how our system regulates prostitutioncompared to other countries.
Prostitution is considered to be one of the oldest professions (Nassis, June 22nd,
2017). Its existed all over the world, since the longest period in history. Prostitution
prevalence in our society is very controversial in Canada and has many grey areas.
We have two types of prostitution. One is someone choosing to sell their sexual
services or someone forced into prostitution. Many kids and adults are forced into
prostitution against there will. Many criminals have recognized prostitution as a
money making industry and because of this; human trafficking was invented.
Although a low risk, high profit enterprise to criminals, the ILO and many others
consider it a form of modern day slavery. The victims although primarily female,
targets also include trans people and youth of any race or gender, often with
histories of being marginalized, abused or isolated (Grant, 2016, Para. 4 7).
Criminals will always find away to beat the system and everyday organized crime

The Depiction Of Western Culture
Image and Perception According to Said, Orientalism is the imitation or depiction
of Eastern cultures in the West. Western civilization has the view that western
culture is superior to all. Edward Said explains how the West views the Orient and
oriental cultures and literature as irrational, depraved, and often they are
misrepresented. These false representations of the East have been a result of one s
point of view the West s. Arab women in particular have been subjected to these
stereotypes, as they are perceived to be the weaker force. Often in literature
authors, particularly western men, are criticized for inaccurately portraying or
writing women. The portrayals of Arab women are often characterized as weak,

However, writers like Inaam Kachachi, Alifa Rifaat, and Nawal El Saadawi display
Arab women in their writings like no Arab men can truly describe women s inner
desire. These writers give a new positive identity and representation of Arab
women, while an author like Alaa Al Aswany portrays women as they are viewed
in society negatively. Despite the stereotypes and differences, Arab women share the
same fear all of mankind experiences. The story Women in fear by Inaam Kachachi
talks about the many different fears seven sisters are having. It is about seven Iraqi
sisters who are fearful due to the oppressive society around them. Atika fears death,
Ifaf is frightened of her husband,
Rhetoric Carpenter Ants
The zombie fungus has mostly been known to control the brains of ants, but don t
manipulate just any type of ant and turn them into zombies (Castro, 2009). These
parasitic fungi are able to recognise different types of brains from different ant
species and only releases its mind controlling chemical when they find the perfect
host that they would like to inhabit in (Castro, 2009). This type of relationship is
known as a behavioural manipulation which is a complex characteristic that is a close
coevolution normally between the pathogen and its host (Castro, 2009). These zombie
fungus like to use carpenter ants as their host due to many abiotic and biotic factors
which these ants are able to provide for the survival of these fungi (Life Science
The Position of Women in Religious Scripture Essay
The position that women have in religious scripture has given them a lesser spot in
society. When God created a man it made sense to create his partner, the female.
Because the man is created first and then the women from his rib, the female gender
in religious scripture has been discriminated on. This is shown in the various books
of the Old and New Testaments, teachings of JesusChrist, and the Qur an. First, the
Old Testamentillustrates women as the corrupter of men. Next, the teachings of Jesus
show more equality among genders even though the New Testament does not. Finally,
the Qur an depicts women as having a subservient role to men allowing men to take
advantage.
With these interpretations of God s words, society as a whole has ... Show more

A good example would be when Sampson was seduced by Delilah in Judges 16
which led to his death. (THE STATUS OF WOMEN IN THE CHRISTIAN

getting him drunk. (THE STATUS OF WOMEN IN THE CHRISTIAN
GOSPELS)The moral to these stories seems to be that women are responsible for
the mistakes of men and men are easily corrupted by women. One could assume
that men should beware of women and their influence. We can clearly see this in
the story of Sarah and Abraham; it seems to hit all the negative female themes but
also gives Sarah more power than is typically held during the time. In the story,
Sarah was not able to have children so she suggested to Abraham to take Hagar, a
slave women, as his wife. Hagar had a son named Ishmael. Much later, Sarah did
conceive a child and told Abraham to send Hagar and his eldest son, Ishmael
away. She used her influence on Abraham to encourage him to take her as his wife
and her jealousy forced him to send Hagar and Ishmael away. So much influence
by a woman of the time was uncommon. Women of the time were not allowed to
have the same rights as men. They were not allowed to talk with anyone but their
family and could not leave their home. They had become second class Jews,
excluded from the worship and teaching of God, with status scarcely above that of
slaves. (Metzger 806 818) Through the actions of Jesus, there seemed to be a break

Education Institutions Constitute A Scientific Domain Essay
Education institutions constitute a scientific domain related to the ontology,
epistemology, and methodology that will shape individuals ideology. This is carried
out through the curriculum which responds to the needs of the society. The word
curriculum is initiated in the development of ancient Greek. Pinar et al. (1995) states
that the word curriculum comes from two words namely curro which means I run
and currere which means to be running. These two meanings are important in order
to look more deeply at what to do in relation to different views, and ideologies and
how curricula work.
The curriculum in ancient time was viewed as a running track around which all
athletes ran. This metaphor is beneficial, even though there are awareness to other
applicable metaphors descriptions (Pinar et al. 1995). The imagination of the people
appear differently to symbolize the system of education, for instance, one can hold a
running track in different ways; it could be straightforward, circular, oval, in a certain
arena or across the country. The runners, moreover, might initiate their movement at
the same starting point and time or conversely at a different starting point with the
same time, depending on the arrangement of the committee. This metaphor assists in
the visualization of the distinction between the aforementioned running
characteristics, and the education curriculum which identifies the various vital factors
that are necessary for an effective curriculum for
Essay on Deception in Shakespeare s Othello
Deception in Shakespeare s Othello
One may readily perceive the theme of Shakespeare s Othello as deception.
Deception appears many times in Othello, but in almost every incident the degree of
deception is different. Deception is to deceive another, illusion, or fraud (Webster s
New World Pocket Dictionary 69), which is seen as a wrongful act. However,
deception may be used to protect someone from getting hurt therefore being used with
good intentions. The very first act of deception is done by the character Desdemona.
Desdemona hides her relationship with Othello from her father, knowing he will
disapprove due to Othello s race. Brabantio says, O, she deceives me/Past thought!
(1.1.163 164). Desdemona s reasoning for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She tells him a flat out lie, but again, with good intentions. Desdemona loves
Othello and did not want him to get angry. She thought she had just misplaced the
handkerchief, and that she would soon find it, but if she told Othello she had lost
it, he would become furious. Not all acts of deception are done with intentions of
protecting one you love. The character who always had bad intentions in his
deception is Iago. Iago deceives many people in the play and can be compared to the
devil. One incident in which Iago deceives someone is when he tricks Othello into
thinking he is talking with Cassio about Desdemona, when he is actually talking
about Bianca. Iago: Ply Desdemona well and you are sure on t. Now if this suit lay
in Bianca s power, how quickly should you speed! Cassio: Alas, poor caitiff! Look,
how he [Othello] laughs already! (4.1.106 109) Iago told Othello that he would
discuss Desdemona with Cassio, and that he would talk about the affair. Iago does
not do this, and instead he talks about Bianca with Cassio, and Cassio laughs at
things Iago says. Othello sees Cassio laughing and just assumes he is laughing at
Desdemona, which in return upsets him very much. Iago used several tactics to set
up Othello for deception in this case. Though deception
Purly Imaginative Subject by Gary J. Kornblith
An essay written by Gary J. Kornblith, the main focus is on a purely imaginative
subject. The use of this counterfactual approach is widely accepted as a
methodology in research of causation. According to Kornblith, counterfactual
exercises are necessary to think more clearly about causation and to distinguish
between essential factors and coincidental developments (79). He uses the
counterfactual method to present the idea that if Henry Clay had been elected in
1844, which he goes on to prove as plausible, we would be in a much different
country. The thesis as a whole is stated as ... My focus is on a different pair of wars:
the Mexican American War of 1846 1848 and the American Civil War
of 1861 1865...
Rather than project a different military outcome, I posit the absence of the Mexican
American War...The key to peace in my counterfactual scenario is a victory by
Henry Clay over James K. Polk in the very close presidential election of 1844... As a
result Texas would almost certainly have remained an independent republic in 1845,
and the United Stateswould not have gone to war with Mexico the following year.
Based as it is on a highly plausible turn of events, this counterfactual scenario
promises to advance our understanding of the causes of the Civil War (77). He then
adds the fact that there are two viewpoints that come from this counterfactual
exercise; Revisionists, who believe that the Civil War could have been avoided,
despite the sectional differences, and
Batteries Lab Report

Background Information Batteries are containers that can store great amounts of
energy, and that can be used to make electricity. This method of storing energy
allows us to make on the go electronic devices. Without batteries everything would
have to be plugged in, or else it wouldn t work. There are many types of batteries,
but they all have something in common, they depend on chemical reactions to
generate or make electricity. The chemical reactions normally occur between two
pieces of metal, also known as electrodes, and a liquid, called an electrolyte. The

The copper plate is the positive electrode or anode zinc plate and the negative
electrode or cathode. By reacting the electrolyte with a transmission electron rods,
which are drawn from the zinc plate, toward the plate of copper, with zinc atoms are
oxidized and incorporated in the solution according to the reaction occurs:
Zn? Zn2 ++ 2e
This is so not the reverse, from copper to zinc, because zinc atoms are more likely
than copper to give electrons. In the copper rod a reduction in hydrogen H + ions in
solution occurs, since the electrons released by zinc atoms traverse the thread toward
the copper plate and are captured by H +, which are converted into atoms and escape
as hydrogen gas. These are the moving electrons that cause the electric current.
For their part, SO4 ions react with the Zn2 + cations and become zinc sulfate
molecules.
2H ~ + 2e H2
Zn2 + + SO42 ZnSO4
When the external connection between the plates is short, electrons can not move
along the thread of a plate to elsewhere, thus the reaction is stopped. The device
works as long as there zinc atoms to form the corresponding sulfate. When zinc plate
is completely disintegrated and the reaction may not occur, so that the stack is no
longer needed. Therefore, batteries of this type are known as
The Three Types Of Court Management In The Criminal...
In the criminal justice system, there are three types of important court managers.
Without one of these court managers the court would be working slower than what
it needs to work. The three types of the curt managers are the clerk of court, the
judge, and the court administrator. Each of these managers have a very important
role they have to play to ensure that the court would run smoothly while is in
session. The clerk of court is An elected or appointed court officer responsible for
maintaining the written records of the court and for supervising or performing the
clerical tasks necessary to conduct judicial business (Neubauer Fradella, 2014,
p.535). For example, sometimes people might confuse what a clerk of the court does
with what a law clerkdoes or even a court reporter. The clerk of the court does take
another role while trial is going on, they maintain court calendars and handle and
assemble documents such as subpoenas, judicial orders, writs, injunctions, and
judgments (Krow, 2017). They review law suits and motions that are submitted to the
court. The second important court manager is the judge. Many people put judges as
the highest part of the criminal justice system. This is because of the power that
they have. It all start From arrest to final disposition, the accused face judges
whenever decisions affecting their futures are made (Neubauer Fradella, 2014,
p.199). Some of the things that a judge can do is set bail for you, revoke your bail, and
As Frederick Douglass Narrates His Story Throughout This
As Frederick Douglass narrates his story throughout this book, he talks a great
deal about what happened to him as a child all the way to his adult life as being a
slave in the United States. We all know that slavery is wrong and disgusting but the
things I ve read opened up my mind to how a slave would feel. The pain of the
whippings, cruelity and starvation is something we might not know exactly but the
story behind it is worth understanding. The expriences and obstacles that he went
through is what made him to be the man that is he today. It shows his point of view
of what a slave would go through and to even being treated as if they weren t even
human themselves. The slaves in the United States didn t have a age limit. From the...

Slaveholders would often use a woman for a breeder. The Master would either sleep

instead only to add onto the wealth of the Master. The more children there is the

The children will then be raised to work in the plantations for their entire lives. She

already have a difficult future in set for you is a cruel thing to do and it must also
be for the mother who is letting their children enter in a world like that. It will not
only affect them physically but also emotionally for the rest of their lives. In the
beginning of the book, Frederick talks about a horrible situation that he experienced

Effects of Outsourcing
What is outsourcing? We have all heard the term thrown around but what does it
really mean? Outsourcing is defined as contracting, sub contracting, or externalizing
non core activities to free up cash, personnel, time, and facilities for activities where
the firm holds competitive advantage(BD,09).Outsourcinghappens when company s
choose to purchases their needed products and or services from an outside supplier (
mainly other countries), rather than doing the same work within their own facilities.

person wasn t in America and when I asked him where he was located he quickly
told me that I needed to write a letter and send it to the address on the back of the
card and disconnected the call. I was upset about my travel plans being canceled but
I was even more upset that I had to deal with all of that mess. After all of that I
cancelled the credit card and when they asked why I explained to them that I didn t
agree with their employment decisions. I realize that me cancelling my credit card

Outsourcing causes consumer frustration and disappointment. It is shameful for
American companies to turn their backs on the American worker just to save a little
money.
How can outsourcing be stopped?
Many people insist that there are no clear cut ways to stop the issue of outsourcing,
while some people offer up ideas on how company s could still keep the majority of
their work in America while still outsourcing. Outsourcing has become the wise thing
to do in business now days and with these economic times, it is only going to
Amish Demographic Report
Descriptive epidemiology focus on how a disease is spread within a population. This
can be done in three different approaches such as counts, case series, and cross
sectional studies. The observation of the Amish population in Lancaster, PA favors
the application of the cross sectional method of descriptive epidemiology.
Analyzing the population health in the Amish group requires some understanding of
the Amish people. It is a special population where their perspectives on health is
shaped by their religious beliefs and cultures. The Amish settled in four counties in
Pennsylvania with an estimate of 44, 106 people were approximately 35,000 reside

in living a life of self surrender, submission, yielding to the will of God and to
others, contentment, and a calm spirit . To date the Amish don t use electricity, don

society thrives on helping each other and sharing each other s burdens. To assist one

Impact Of Technology On Law Enforcement
Law Enforcement and Technology
Introduction
Revolutionary progress in the field of information technology has ushered in
numerous changes in the ways police officers and law enforcement agencies use to
identify, trail and make cases against suspects. Throughout the last century, most of
the technological advances in surveillance by law enforcement revolved around
establishing and enhancing methods of communication: telephones, radio calls and
other emergency communications. In this century, surveillance has become
technological and is real time. The following are some of the latest surveillance
technologies available to law enforcers.

Stingray is a sophisticated, portable device that is able to trail cell phone signals
inside homes, vehicles and even insulated buildings. In this system, Stingray
trackers operate as fake cell towers. This allows law enforcers to pin down the
location of a targeted mobile device by sucking up data such as emails, text
messages and cell site information. Consequently, when a suspect makes a phone
call, the system will trick the cell into sending its signal back to law enforcers,
thereby preventing the signal from travelling back to the individual s wireless carrier.
Stingray is also capable of extracting data off other cell phone users in that location.
Facial Recognition Software In this surveillance system, law enforcers take a
photograph of a person s face and then compare the biometrics to other pictures
stored in a database. If the person s photograph was in the database, there will be a
match. This will enable the officers to identify the person behind the face. This
software has since been incorporated into CCTV surveillance systems in order to
track down suspects in real time. On an individual case, the system can easily be
placed on the back of a smartphone since it weighs only 12.5

is better than the Xbox one because it comes with a charging cable for the

The Role of Women in The Stone Diaries Essay example
The Role of Women in The Stone Diaries
Gender inequities have existed since the beginning of time. The various roles
assigned to men and women in society have served to perpetuate differences that
even until the present have not been overcome. These gender differences are evident
in The Stone Diaries by Carol Shields. Initially the main character, Daisy Goodwill,
is a pathetic, weak woman whose only joy comes from appreciating the small things
in life. After a series of personal events, she changes dramatically and becomes a
stronger individual. Daisy s continual need for self reliance is fulfilled by the
changing society around her.

Shields suggests that in an ordinary life like Daisy s, a character s imagination can
offer redemption for her ordinariness (Fitzgerald 21). She explores the experiences
and inner lives of unremarkable, unnoticed people with careful detail (Sherman 49).
The society Daisy faces daily demands standards very different from those of
present day society. In the beginning of the novel, the role of women is confined to
that of housewives. Daisy lives in an era where women are expected to make the
best of things and not ask for much for themselves. She fulfills her duties as a
woman in this society by cooking, cleaning and presenting a good image of
herself. Daisy never knows her mother and has no real role models. She manages
to follow her guardian s example in certain aspects of how a woman should act.
Daisy s roles in society are mostly those of daughter of, wife of, and mother of. This
conveys Shields true message in the novel, that Human beings are defined as much
by the things that don t happen to them as by the things that do, and part of what
Shields is doing here is honouring the restricted life, declaring that attention must be
paid to the lives of women like Daisy (Fitzgerald 19). Daisy is not truly seen as an
individual until later in life.
Daisy s is a life formed by a string of small accidents, with a few conscious decisions
on her part
Domestic Violence ( Dv )
Needs Statement:
Domestic violence (DV), also known as intimate partner violence, is a pattern of
abusive behavior that keeps one partner in a position of power over the other through
the use of fear, intimidation and control.
DV is a cultural and societal problem, and not a women s problem or a men s
problem as many people come to believe. The problem also stems from the lack of
adequate and consistent training for persons helping survivors escape their situation.
Therefore, the solution to prevent and eliminate domestic abuse must be multi
dimensional, diverse, and comprehensive (Coulter, 2009).
Domestic violence is the leading cause of serious injury to women. Data shows that
in 2014 New York City Police Department responded to over 282,000 domestic
incidents, where 63 were family related homicides. There was also a 22.3% increase
from 2013 or over 54,600 client visits to the New York City Family Justice Centers.
Between 2001 and 2012, there were 864 domestic violence homicides in New York
City, where the definition of intimate partner homicides was expanded in 2009 to
include the homicides by boyfriend/girlfriends.
The prevention of Domestic violence (DV) is important because family related
violence occurs in a social context and has an enduring impact on a community. It is
one of the foremost causes of homelessness and occurs frequently in homes where
child abuse is present (New York City Domestic Violence Fatality Review Committee,
2014, p. 2).

The complexity arises from the multifaceted nature of the concept itself, encompassing a wide range of disciplines such as philosophy, sociology, political science, and more. Liberation is a nuanced and subjective notion, demanding careful consideration of various perspectives and historical contexts. To begin with, defining liberation can be a daunting task as it is often understood and interpreted differently across cultures, societies, and individuals. This necessitates a thorough exploration of the philosophical underpinnings and cultural implications associated with the concept. Delving into the writings of influential thinkers who have grappled with the idea of liberation, such as existentialists, political theorists, and liberation theologians, adds another layer of complexity to the essay. Furthermore, addressing the historical dimension of liberation requires a meticulous examination of movements, revolutions, and social transformations that have sought to attain freedom and emancipation. Analyzing the challenges, successes, and failures of these endeavors contributes to a comprehensive understanding of the topic. The essay should not only explore theoretical aspects but also consider practical applications of liberation in contemporary contexts. This involves examining social justice movements, political struggles, and the ongoing fight against oppression. Balancing theory and real-world examples requires a nuanced approach to present a well-rounded argument. Crafting a coherent and persuasive essay on liberation demands critical thinking, research skills, and the ability to synthesize information from diverse sources. The writer must navigate through the complexities of the topic, providing a thorough analysis while maintaining clarity and coherence in the narrative. Fighting the Swine Flu Swine Flu The swine flu also known as the H1N1 virus was first detected in 2009, it was called swine flu because the virus was similar to those found in pigs it is now a human seasonal flu virus that also circulates in pigs. This virus wasn t the same as the 2009 H1N1 outbreak. There was one death at Fort Dix. The government decided to produce a vaccine against this virus. The vaccine was associated with rare instances of neurological problems and was stopped. Some individuals wonder that formalin, used to deactivate the virus, may have played a role in the growth of problem in 1976. There is no proof that anyone who found this vaccine would be protected against the 2009 swine flu virus. • 5. Vietnam War Paranoia The horrors of The Vietnam War have stuck with American soldiers since they were first deployed in Vietnam and every vietnam soldier remembers, the paranoia that ate away at them during their months in Vietnam. Vietnam War literature written by American authors who were in the war demonstrates the paranoia they felt during the war. These authors would express their feelings by writing while they were in Vietnam and after they left. When soldiers write about the war after they left, it shows how they still remember the paranoiathey felt while in Vietnam. Vietnam was paranoia, because of the continuous fearof the environment, traps, and ambushes, that soldiers felt and described in multiple poems and stories such as If I Die in a Combat Zone and The Things They Carried. The American soldiers in Vietnam felt paranoia because of the horrible traps such as land mines or bouncing bettys that were hidden throughout Vietnam. Tim O Brien in his memoir If I die in a Combat Zone describes the booby trapped mortar rounds well by saying, They hang from trees. They nestle in shrubbery. They lie under the sand. They wait beneath the mud floors of huts. They haunted us (If I die in a Combat Zone 123). In this quote O Brien describes how the booby trapped mortar rounds would haunt soldiers and how the soldiers never knew where they were. The soldiers were paranoid and haunted by the mortar rounds because they could be anywhere and they were everywhere in Vietnam. O Brien also describes

  • 7. Harry Potter s The Casual Vacancy After the success of her popular Harry Potter series, J.K. Rowling has recently branched out from writing children s literature. Her first adult novel, The Casual Vacancy, explores more mature topics and is aimed at a new demographic than her previous works. She challenges social issues with her dark themes and her impeccable writing style captures the wide range of problems at the heart of a small town. It becomes more apparent throughout the novel that each character is connected in a web of misfortunes. Each individual has their own flaws and it becomes more apparent that there are additional underlying issues at the center of the pretty little town (Tait). J.K. Rowling s The Casual Vacancy, Krystal Weedon is the troubled hero of the novel as she struggles to overcome difficulties in her life after the death of her mentor, Barry Fairbrother. Essay on The Getty Villa Brittany LeBlanc Professor Holliday Art History 111A 15 November 2010 Gravestone of a Woman with Her Attendant The Gravestone of a Woman with her attendant is a sculpture created by an unknown artist and is now on display at the Getty Villa in Malibu, California. The sculpture is of a womanseated in a cushioned armchair, reaching out to lightly touch the top of a box or chest held by her attendant. We can tell from the sculpture that the women is of a higher class because of how her hair is done, the significant amount of jewelry, and the decorated throne that she lounges in. This sculpture is an extremely detailed Grecian gravestone made from a thick slab of colorless marble around 100 B.C. The woman wears a robe that is very ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With the sculpture straight ahead, the audience sees a profile view of the scene; however, the artist created the sculpture with enough space and depth to be able to view the front of the woman s face from a side angle. The artist created the seated woman with much detail; her nose, chin, slightly opened mouth, pronounced brow line and inset eyes show this. She reaches for the chest with her right arm in a very delicate manner as her left arm lays on the throne for support. The woman s female servant is standing in front, below her, holding an opened box or a chest. The box the servant holds is not defined, but we can assume that is some sort of a chest holding valuables to the seated woman, presumably something the woman would be buried with. The attendant is significantly smaller than the seated woman, which can suggest that the servant is of much less importance or is younger than the high class woman. The servant wears a robe somewhat alike to the seated woman, but with less detail and decoration. The robe the attendant wears seems like there is less fabric draping her body below the midriff and there is also no fabric wrapped around her forearm like the woman on the thrown. Another difference between the two women is the missing shoes on the servant, which also symbolizes less importance. We can see this from her exposed he poking out from underneath the draping robe. The servant s hair is also messy and not held back like the woman

Elsewhere, a majestic elephant, the world s largest land mammal, is carefully balancing on a tiny pedestal and performing for the crowd (Anastasia). Many people have visited the circusand have enjoyed watching endangered animals parade around the stage, but many do not know what goes on behind the scenes. Animals are taken forcefully from their homes and families. Bullhooks, electric prods, ropes and fireplace pokers are used to train the animals in the circus (Godd). Race, ethnicity, culture and diversity are pressing societal issues. Acceptance of your identity is assigned to you by society. There are five different stages of Identity Development. First being your personal identity, followed by the choice of group categorization, which is the individual being forced to choose a minority identity, then there is enmeshment or the denial stage, which is when there is confusion or guilt over choosing one identity. After this is appreciation, when the person begins to appreciate aspects of the majority and last is integration, which is when the person recognizes and values all identities. Embracing unity through diversity, there is a strong commitment to each other and various communities of color. It is important to let yourself know sometimes that you are brilliant, that you are gorgeous, fabulous, and/or talented. As it was once stated by Nelson Mandela, our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate, but that we are powerful beyond measure. An additional argument against a full time legislation is the belief that it would increase corruption due to the fact that the legislators would have more time together to deliberate and give in to the temptation of unethical practices. (Champagne 217) My opinion is that a full time legislature would offer more time and money for the job to be completed thoroughly. Instead of scheming, they would be able to research and discuss the bills as they are being submitted. It seems that corruption is caused for two reasons. The first being that currently there is simply not enough time to tackle all the issues, so when one is approached with being persuaded to support a certain bill, they act on it when they might not have even known that it existed. Secondly, the minimal amount of pay for this job could play a role in one being tempted to these corrupt practices for money or to enjoy things that they would otherwise not have access to. Whether the legislature is currently corrupted or would be so if it becomes a full time, it is difficult to deny the fact that the legislature is not an

During his 1988 election campaign George Bush made a powerful promise that captured the interest of many. The promise was clear and simple, read my lips, no new taxes. Many of his supporters held him to this promise. In June of 1990 the president agreed to a tax increase that was aimed at lowering the national debt. Most outraged by this were conservative republicans, as a result they abandoned Bush and granted Perot their support. The mere involvement of third party candidates has helped shape the outcome in previous presidential elections. Since 1860 third party candidates have appeared in seven presidential elections, candidates of the incumbent party have lost six of those (Burnham 1993, 1). There are three main argument styles, which are called the Aristotelian approach, the Rogerian approach, and the Toulmin approach. Each of these styles incorporates evidence in different ways and have the claim stated in different sections of the argument. There are different types of reasoning that can be used to strengthen a writer s argument, which include inductive and deductive reasoning. However, writers can accidently use fallacious reasoning, which can make their arguments invalid and unreliable. Fallacious reasoning can also discredit the author s argument. Anne Fadiman and Rebecca Skloot have different and similar writing techniques. Anne Fadiman uses a Rogerian approach in her writing whereas Rebecca Skloot uses the Aristotelian approach. Even though they both have fallacies within their arguments, Rebecca Skloot is more effective and successful in her arguments than Anne Fadiman because she uses an Aristotelian approach and uses different types of inductive/ deductive reasoning to strengthen her claim. Anne Fadiman, uses a Rogerian approach as her argumentation style in her book called The Spirit Catches You and You Fall Down. • 27. Investigating The Effect Of Ph On The Reaction Of A... Introduction I am going to examine how hydrogen peroxide (acidic fluid) will modify the outcome of a poultry (enzyme) reaction. Goal Observe and record what happens when enzymes (chicken) are added to different amounts of acid (hydrogen peroxide) mixed with water. The activity level of these enzymes will differ and be dependent upon several factors, such as consistency, size and shape of the molecule. Specific factor will be the concentration enzyme and substrate. I will conduct a controlled experiment to determine the influence of pH on the enzyme catalase and the release of oxygen. Hypothesis Acidic fluid on an enzymatic would react in different ways based on the strength of the acid solution. The stronger the acid solution, there will be more of a reaction and the stronger the base solution, there will be less of the reaction. Pre lab Hypothesis 1.What do you expect to happen when an enzyme is added to an acid? a.The acid will cause the enzyme to release oxygen in the form of bubbles and will eventually dissolve the enzyme if given a long enough time frame. 2.Is Hydrogen Peroxide an acid or a base? Why? a.Hydrogen Peroxide is a weak acid with PH level of 6.2, but it is still an acid. 3.What would happen if a stronger base ratio compared to a stronger acid ratio was used? a.There would not be much of a reaction at all because the base does not have a strong enough PH level to break down the enzymes. 4.Which solution between the acid and the base do I

Logos is the appeal to reason, and it focuses on the practicality of the object. Ethosis the appeal to authority, and an example is the use of an authoritative figure as a promotion. Pathos is the appeal to emotion, which acts upon relating to and drawing out the emotions of the audience (Kirszer and Mandell 13). Most people do not understand the way of thinking or how the brain works. Dan Gilbert states the understanding of thought as an unknown bias because of the psychological immune system (4:30) making humans have a preconceived notion about happiness. People subconsciously divide happiness in to two categories: natural happiness and synthetic happiness. Natural happiness occurs in the brain when someone gets what they want. Synthetic happiness is happiness developed by the brain to protect a person s ego, by making the unwanted outcome justifiable. The negative unwanted outcome must be justified as superior to the original want because the brain cannot deal with the cognitive dissonance of being denied. Cognitive dissonance is a state of tension that occurs whenever a person holds two cognitions(ideas, attitudes,

Infective endocarditis is an infection of microorganisms, whether it be bacterial or viral, which form colonies within the endothelial lining of the heart tissue. This initiates an immune response that causes the infected sites to grow. Figure 1 8 shows vegetations on the aortic valve which prevent it from functioning properly. Without the ability to fully seal during diastole, blood is pulled back through the aortic valve from the aorta. This disrupts the pressure in the left ventricle in such a way that creates unnecessary stress on the muscle. Infective endocarditis that is present on the right side of the heart (including the aortic valve) is of highest incidence within the population of recreational intravenous drug users at 46% 78% of reported cases. 9 The risk of infective endocarditis causing vegetation on and around the aortic valve increases after valve replacement surgery. A study done in Australia observed 2443 aortic valve replacement surgeries, taking into consideration their pre and post operation condition. Of said patients, 3.7% developed infective endocarditis. All valve prostheses were either of allograft (human), xenograft (porcine, bovine, or equine), or mechanical design (composite synthetics), the xenograft being the most popular.

The use of this counterfactual approach is widely accepted as a methodology in research of causation. According to Kornblith, counterfactual exercises are necessary to think more clearly about causation and to distinguish between essential factors and coincidental developments (79). He uses the counterfactual method to present the idea that if Henry Clay had been elected in 1844, which he goes on to prove as plausible, we would be in a much different country. The thesis as a whole is stated as ... My focus is on a different pair of wars: the Mexican American War of 1846 1848 and the American Civil War of 1861 1865... Rather than project a different military outcome, I posit the absence of the Mexican American War...The key to peace in my counterfactual scenario is a victory by Henry Clay over James K. As a result Texas would almost certainly have remained an independent republic in 1845, and the United Stateswould not have gone to war with Mexico the following year. Based as it is on a highly plausible turn of events, this counterfactual scenario promises to advance our understanding of the causes of the Civil War (77). He then adds the fact that there are two viewpoints that come from this counterfactual exercise; Revisionists, who believe that the Civil War could have been avoided, despite the sectional differences, and

In this system, Stingray trackers operate as fake cell towers. This allows law enforcers to pin down the location of a targeted mobile device by sucking up data such as emails, text messages and cell site information. Consequently, when a suspect makes a phone call, the system will trick the cell into sending its signal back to law enforcers, thereby preventing the signal from travelling back to the individual s wireless carrier. Stingray is also capable of extracting data off other cell phone users in that location. Facial Recognition Software In this surveillance system, law enforcers take a photograph of a person s face and then compare the biometrics to other pictures stored in a database. If the person s photograph was in the database, there will be a match. This will enable the officers to identify the person behind the face. This software has since been incorporated into CCTV surveillance systems in order to track down suspects in real time. On an individual case, the system can easily be placed on the back of a smartphone since it weighs only 12.5

The various roles assigned to men and women in society have served to perpetuate differences that even until the present have not been overcome. These gender differences are evident in The Stone Diaries by Carol Shields. Initially the main character, Daisy Goodwill, is a pathetic, weak woman whose only joy comes from appreciating the small things in life. After a series of personal events, she changes dramatically and becomes a stronger individual. Daisy s continual need for self reliance is fulfilled by the changing society around her. Daisy s initial character is anything but extraordinary. She is ordinary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Shields suggests that in an ordinary life like Daisy s, a character s imagination can offer redemption for her ordinariness (Fitzgerald 21). She explores the experiences and inner lives of unremarkable, unnoticed people with careful detail (Sherman 49). The society Daisy faces daily demands standards very different from those of present day society. In the beginning of the novel, the role of women is confined to that of housewives. Daisy lives in an era where women are expected to make the best of things and not ask for much for themselves. She fulfills her duties as a woman in this society by cooking, cleaning and presenting a good image of herself. Daisy never knows her mother and has no real role models. She manages to follow her guardian s example in certain aspects of how a woman should act. Daisy s roles in society are mostly those of daughter of, wife of, and mother of. This conveys Shields true message in the novel, that Human beings are defined as much by the things that don t happen to them as by the things that do, and part of what Shields is doing here is honouring the restricted life, declaring that attention must be paid to the lives of women like Daisy (Fitzgerald 19). Daisy is not truly seen as an individual until later in life. Daisy s is a life formed by a string of small accidents, with a few conscious decisions on her part
  • 55. Domestic Violence ( Dv ) Needs Statement: Domestic violence (DV), also known as intimate partner violence, is a pattern of abusive behavior that keeps one partner in a position of power over the other through the use of fear, intimidation and control. DV is a cultural and societal problem, and not a women s problem or a men s problem as many people come to believe. The problem also stems from the lack of adequate and consistent training for persons helping survivors escape their situation. Therefore, the solution to prevent and eliminate domestic abuse must be multi dimensional, diverse, and comprehensive (Coulter, 2009). Domestic violence is the leading cause of serious injury to women. Data shows that in 2014 New York City Police Department responded to over 282,000 domestic incidents, where 63 were family related homicides. There was also a 22.3% increase from 2013 or over 54,600 client visits to the New York City Family Justice Centers. Between 2001 and 2012, there were 864 domestic violence homicides in New York City, where the definition of intimate partner homicides was expanded in 2009 to include the homicides by boyfriend/girlfriends. The prevention of Domestic violence (DV) is important because family related violence occurs in a social context and has an enduring impact on a community. It is one of the foremost causes of homelessness and occurs frequently in homes where child abuse is present (New York City Domestic Violence Fatality Review Committee, 2014, p. 2). We plan to help
