Nature Vs Nurture Essay Topics
Crafting an essay on the intricate and perennially debated theme of "Nature vs. Nurture" is no
small feat. The challenge lies not only in navigating the extensive literature on the subject but
also in striking a delicate balance between the two opposing forces. One must delve into the
realms of psychology, genetics, sociology, and philosophy, among other disciplines, to extract the
nuances that make this topic so complex.
The difficulty arises from the need to sift through a plethora of contrasting theories and
empirical studies that span across decades. Researchers have dedicated their careers to unraveling
the mysteries of human development, attempting to discern the extent to which genetics and
environmental factors contribute to shaping an individual's traits, behaviors, and overall
disposition. The sheer volume of information can be overwhelming, and synthesizing diverse
perspectives into a cohesive and insightful narrative demands both time and intellectual rigor.
Moreover, the essayist must grapple with the ethical implications intertwined with discussions on
nature and nurture. The question of whether certain traits are inherent or acquired touches upon
contentious issues such as free will, personal responsibility, and societal structures. These ethical
considerations add an extra layer of complexity to the essay, requiring careful thought and
consideration of multiple viewpoints.
As the writer navigates this intellectual labyrinth, the challenge is not merely to present a
summary of existing arguments but to contribute a fresh perspective or synthesis that advances
the discourse. Striking the right balance between acknowledging the role of genetics and
recognizing the impact of environmental factors demands a nuanced and sophisticated approach.
In conclusion, tackling a "Nature vs. Nurture" essay is akin to navigating a maze of theories,
studies, and ethical dilemmas. It requires a deep understanding of multidisciplinary research,
critical thinking skills, and the ability to articulate complex ideas coherently. However, the
journey through this intellectual terrain can be rewarding, offering insights into the fundamental
forces that shape human existence. For those seeking assistance in unraveling this intricate topic

The Similarities Of Susan B. Anthony And Elizabeth Cady...
Too many women, in too many countries speak the same language, of silence.
Hillary Clinton (Editors, 2015). Citizens from around the world are facing many
issues, whether they were economical or political. But the female citizens have a
major issue encountering them, which is feminism. Feminism is the advocacy of
women s rights on the grounds of political, social, and economic equality to men.
(Oxford 2015). It requires a powerful person with great ambitions to make changes
and lead the right way. It needs someone who is willing to sacrifice everything to
achieve greatness and leave a history behind them. A person with these qualities is
considered a hero, an idol, someone we can look up to. Susan B. Anthonyand

The two women had a great friendship, which made them a strong team. The two
ladies had published a book of three volumes called History of Women Suffrage
(Weebly.com, 2015). They also worked on a militant weekly paper on the
Revolution. Furthermore, in 1869 the two formed the National Woman Suffrage
Association (NWSA) (A+E Networks, 2015). They traveled all over the country and
abroad, promoting woman s rights. They gave speeches and lectures that women
have the right to vote and speak (Congress, 2015). As for their differences, Elizabeth
Cady Stanton is the brain between the two; her role was the writer and the thinker.
She worked constantly throughout all the phases of the women s movement. On the
other hand, Susan B. Anthony was described as the Napoleon of the suffragist
movement, she was the one who manages the business matters of the women s rights
movement. She was the voice of women s suffrage in every congress between 1869
and 1906 (Rochester, 2006). Anthony once got arrested for voting in the presidential
elections illegally in 1872 (A+E Networks, 2015), while Stanton settled on the safe

High We Exalt Thee, Realm of the Free , is the national anthem of a rich and

names of capital cities or specific emblems always have a meaning behind them,
and that is the case for this country in particular. Although the country as a whole
has suffered detrimental set backs in their economics system due to civil war,
violence, and enclave production; there still exists a strong Sierra Leonean people

green stripe signifies agriculture, mountains, and natural resources ( Sierra Leone ,

Sierra Leone was the perfect location for many corrupt businessmen interested in the

Examples Of Love And Suffering In House Of Spirits
Love and Suffering in House of Spirits
For all of written history (fictional or otherwise) we can clearly see that there has
been no great love without great sacrifice and pain. Katniss entered the Hunger
Games to spare Prim, Juliet died rather than live without her Romeo, and the Potters
went into hiding and were killed by Voldemort just to protect their son, Harry. Much
like all of these other famous literary examples, the characters in Isabel Allende s
House of the Spirits suffer because of their love for one another. Blanca and Pedro
Tercero, for example, are separated for most of their lives, because something or
someone is always getting in the way. A prime example of such an obstacle is
when Esteban severely beats Blanca when he finds out she s pregnant with
Tercero s child, and as further revenge, cuts off Pedro s fingers with an axe.
However, Blanca and Pedro eventually spend the rest of their days together, in a
small house in Canada where they both ended up very happy. The relationships in
House of Spirits all help to further prove that love (or a lack thereof) brings us all
great suffering, but also that love is what enables us? to endure the pain.
In House of Spirits, lack of love and empathy is often the cause of problems between
many characters. Esteban, for example, is extremely volatile, and when his temper
turns on his family, it causes major issues. One such outburst causes him knock out
his wife Clara s teeth. This particular instance occurs in
The Federal Information Security Management Act
VA Cyber Security Profile
Richard David Thomas Caroll

Introduction.
Through the Federal Information Security Management ACT (FISMA) it was made
mandatory that organizations would have to develop standards that would be in
compliance with federal regulations that were put into place. Because of this the
Federal Information Processing Standards Publication (FIPS) 199 and FIPS 200
were put into place in order to establish a set of standards for organizations so that
they could determine what their category would be for their systems (NIST, 2012). In
order to enforce the security categories from FIPS 200, the NIST SP 800 53 would be
utilized in order to set in place a security control ... Show more content on

Within this security profile three controls and two family controls were selected to be
enforced in order to explore the security awareness and the training being done that
can be used as counter measures against any cyber security threats that may pose a
problem to the network. The three controls that are being examined within
management, technical, and operational families will be based on the needs of the
VA and how best to implement them.
2. MANAGEMENT CONTROL. Management Controls are used to put procedures
and policies into place that would allow an organization to be able to function in a
secure manner from all of its levels, to include the ground floor to the top floor.
2.1 Selected Control Security Assessment and Authorization
The security and authorization family controls are focused on the creation and
maintenance of a security plan. Through this it would identify the individuals
responsible for information systems and the development of plans and how to
implement them by creating goals to help them in meeting their overall goal for their
security program.

Minimum Living Wage
Let s take a look at Figure.1 above, which shows the impact of a minimum wage on
employment. The blue colored line shows the supply from labor while the red line
shows the demand for labor. Initially, if the market is allowed to work by itself, the
equilibrium market wage is W1 and the employment level is E1. At E1, the labor
market clears and there is no shortage or surplus. However, implementation of
minimum wageor minimum living wagechanges the scenario significantly. If the
government sets a wage floor of W* at that wage, the labor would want to supply
more, therefore increasing the supply of labor from E1 to E2. However, as the wages
now higher, the quantity demanded of labor would be lower, at E3. This leads to an
excess supply of labor... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Amy Glasmeier (2014) came up with living wage calculator compiling
geographically specific expenditure data for food, childcare, health care, housing,
transportation, and other basic necessities (Source: http://livingwage.mit.edu/). In
this section, to highlight the issue, we pick up three places across the United
States. We chose places from New York State Delhi village, Delaware County,
New York; Stony Brook CDP, Suffolk County, New York and one city from Utah
Provo city, Utah County, Utah. A quick look at the minimum wage in the three
areas would reveal that they share the same minimum wage of $ 7.25 per hour.
However, based on the living standards, the living wage is calculated and
compared. The comparison is shown in Figure 2 below. The graph clearly reveals
that there is a huge variation in living wage in the three places. The living wage is
as high as $13.03 in Stony Brook, NY and as low as $8.73 in Provo, UT. In spite of
the variation between living wage, the minimum wage is a low $7.25 in all three
places, which is even lower than the lowest living wage, in Provo, UT. An analysis
with a larger number of cities would have shown the same trend across the country.
Therefore, it shows that the focus should be on the living wage, not on minimum
wage. Due to this disparity between living wage and minimum wage, minimum wage
earners have to working double shifts or live dependent on benefits for financial
support in order to have the bare

They hung out over the summer and bonded even more. They joined The Traveling

spend time with her. It only took him a while longer to figure out he no longer
wanted to do that. I didn t want an excuse to see her, that s when I thought I was
dating that gal. That was when they started to date, in the spring of 1976.
Thel liked him because, when John talked to you he talked to you, he asked me
what I felt and why. I had to teach him how to small talk. Since thirty nine years is a
bit far to remember every detail, John believes that his first actual date with Thel
was to a dance. He took her to a dance at a barn, the music playing was 70s stuff ya
know...romantic stuff. John felt at peace with the world that night dancing with
Thel. He said he was, so delirious I could fall asleep on my feet, just wrapped up in

her as well. When you love someone you try to keep the relationship moving forward,

parents.
Meeting the family is always a big step, no matter how you look at it. Meeting my

Playing On The Softball Field
At a young age, playing on the softball field taught me how to be a competitor. In a
small town in Texas, I was six years old standing in the scorching heat at my very
first softball game. I didn t understand the game yet, but I did have a passion for
competition. I hit the ball to the first baseman, and took off running toward first
base. The first basemen picked the ball up and touched the base, resulting in the
first out of the game. I was angered by this and charged the first baseman (also six
years old) knocking her off of her feet! I then spat in her face and began to cry. The
umpire walked over to my dad, who was the coach. Without making a dramatic
scene, the umpire told my dad that I would have to be ejected from the game for
unsportsmanlike conduct. I was a hot head! It always had been a challenge for me
to control my temper when I am competing on the field. However, over the years I
learned how to control my emotions. The experience of competing as an athlete has
shaped me into the strong confident person I am today. Being a successful athlete
means having leadership qualities, being able to handle adversity, rising to the
occasion when you are called on, and being able to collaborate with a team. I
learned how to be a leader through my experiences in the softball community. A
couple years back I tried out for a big local organization called the Bandits. It was
suppose to be the best team around with high caliber athletes. And that s just what we
The Life of John Brown
Caution, Sir! I am eternally tired of hearing that word caution. It is nothing but the
word of cowardice! ( John Brown ) John Brown, known for his actions prior to the
Civil War, spoke these words, and they truly show who he is. Brown, born on May 9,
1800, in Torrington, Connecticut, fought for everything he believed was right all the
way up until his death in 1859. He was known mostly as an abolitionist and a
freedom fighter, constantly trying to liberate slavery. John Browns actions would lead
him to having a role in Bleeding Kansas, as well as Harper s Ferry. John Brown
was born in Connecticut and was the fourth child of Owen Brown. Growing up, he
would go to church with his family, but would later leave at the age of sixteen to
Morris Academy to become a minister. He had to leave the college and return to his
family to work in his father s tannery due to eye inflammations. Finally, in 1836,
John Brown finally settled down in Ohio with his second wife and lived a normal
life. He then moved once again to Springfield, Massachusetts, where he would vow
after the murder of a man named Elijah Lovejoy, Here, before God, in the presence
of these witnesses, from this time, I consecrate my life to the destruction of slavery!
( Holy war ) After the Fugitive Slave Act of 1850, John Brown would create The
League of Gileadites to protect escaped slaves from being captured and taken back to
the south. Upon his departure from Massachusetts, he ordered them to act

Leverage and liquidity ratios in respect to the O.M Scott amp; Sons Company vary
widely. The overall liquidity of the company does not indicate that lack of cash will
impede their operational ability. Although the current ratio increases to a high of
4.2999 in 1960, their ability to meet short term obligations should not be affected.
However, it may indicate that there is too much inventory or cash could be better
spent in other areas of the business. The financial leverage ratio increases from a
low of .5335 in 1957, to a high of 1.3928 in 1961. This change shows that the
company is becoming more dependent on using debt to finance its assets.
Pro Forma Analysis
In terms of the financial outlook for the O.M Scott amp; Sons Company for the next
few years, there are several notable changes that occur as a result of the changes
management enacted through 1957 1961. It is important to note that both the pro
forma income statement and balance sheet assume a 23.5% annual compounded
growth figure based on the years stated earlier. Emphasis will be placed on
forecasted numbers for the years 1962 1964 in order to provide readers with
projected figures established through several key assumptions. Cost of goods sold
will continue to be an area that further increases as a result of management decisions.
We estimate that COGS will increase from 42389.35 to 64621.89, which is an
African American Influence On Cuban Culture
Before the popularization of Son, Cuban music and dance was largely influenced by
Europe. Compositions in the early period closely resemble songs from middle class
Europe. These genres include: the creole, canciГіn and danzГіn (Moore 17). While
these genres were seen as the model of Cuban expression at the turn of the century,
the Afrocuban musicknown as Son would soon become (and remain) the paragon of
Cuban artistic and cultural expression; the previous genres paled in comparison in
terms of popularity. Fusing African, Indigenous and European elements, Son
exemplified the transculturation that so many of the elites in Cubawere promoting as

There are two main reasons for this persistence: the brutish and inhumane practices
from Spanish and Portuguese slave traders, and the spiritual concept of ori
practiced by the Yoruba. Before the abolition of slavery in 1886, the Spanish and
Portuguese s philosophy was to work their slaves to death for four to five years,
before bringing in a new hoard of bodies. Unlike the United States, there was little
effort to integrate slaves into the culture. Because no assimilation took place, African
culture was never replaced or lost in Cuba. Beyond this, the Yoruba people from
Africa carried with them the tradition of Ori. This concept referred one s culture
residing in the head or consciousness, and therefore unable to be taken away. This
persistence of African elements led to the spread of Son throughout Cuban
On Habit Alain De Botton
People have a tendency to absorb attitudes from their surroundings. Their lifestyles
are molded by the situations around them. If people have a busy routine, it is
because everything else around them is hectic. When people are able to deal with
their situations with a cool mind or just have a calm personality it is due to the
place they were raised, and how that particular place rolled. Every place is affected
by the society s behavior as well. People get busy to meet the expectations of the
society they like in. As more pressures are put on an individual, his/ her mood
changes. People s attitude change as their level of stress fluctuates. Sometimes people

Some people see busyness as an advantage, and a proper way to live life. Being
occupied does not feel like a burden, since it assures one that he/she is not wasting
time. Some people are busy because they have no other choice. In order to succeed
in life people have to except boredom caused by their habituated mindset. Gopnik
also realizes that there is no way to diminish the frenetic lifestyle of New York
because this system has never changed since the nineteenth century and maybe
worsen as it continues on. He notes this behavior when he exit the apartment into a
still dense nineteenth century grid of streets corners, and restaurants full of
people, and comes home to the late twentieth century grid of faxes and e mails and
overwhelming incompleteness. (158) Gopnik demonstrates how the two centuries
have been combined in his daily schedule, and even though he has a whole day to
complete his work, he may still have duties are still incomplete. He is enclosed in
the grid of business. (158) De botton uses a similar connotation called the the grid
of interest which is the first step in becoming a business because that is the only
goal of life. De botton also understood this formation as he states the power of my
primary goal had drained me out of the will to reflect on the layout of the park or on

a population already dismantled through previous massacres. The Armenians were a

they were made an easy scapegoat in an empire that was mostly Islamic. With the
world s eyes on the First World War, the Armenian Genocide

The Christian Faith Essay
I didn t come from a particularly religious, or irreligious, household. Growing up,
there was no solid, undoubting spiritual framework from which I could base my
life on. There was never any Sunday morning rush hour, where we would all eat a
quick breakfast of bacon eggs before cramming into the car to go listen to a man,
clad in white, preach sing to us about a creator. There was never any youth group,
or summer camp, or bible study. Not to any fault of my parents, of course I just
wasn t raised that way. That being said, I was still told about God, the bible, and
the things that entail it. Despite the fact that I was never really, fully indoctrinated
into the Christian faith, I was still being raised as a Christian, and that s what I
identified as for the majority of my childhood. I was Austin Tanner Herz, the 3rd
grader, the lego fanatic, the comic book reading, lunchable eating, bed jumping
extraordinaire, the Christian. Little did I know how much my religious identity
would change over the upcoming years. As a Christian, I held Christian beliefs. I
believed in the afterlife that those who were good got to go to Heaven, and those
who were bad went to Hell. I believed that Jesus died for the world s sins, and that
we all had an obligation to accept him. I believed these things because it was what I
had been taught to believe despite having no formal indoctrination, it was all I really
knew. All of my friends believed it, probably for the same reasons I

Wyatt Berry Stapp Earp was born March 19, 1848, in Monmouth, Illinois. Wyatt s
dad was a soldier in the Mexican War. Wyatt was named after a guy that was the

Traffic In Toronto Essay
Have you ever had any trouble with traffic? Most people would say Yes . Many
people, who live in Toronto, may have dissatisfaction with traffic. According to The
Smart Growth Panel of Ontario , every motorist in the city spends their commuting
time on the road by up to 30 percent during peak traffic hours ( Toronto , 2015).
Travel should be convenient and people could drive swift and accuracy. However, the
city of Toronto has too much construction, and there are so many illegally parked
cars everywhere. To solve these problems, the Toronto government should order
illegally parked cars to be towed than before, and the construction should be faster and
more intensive. Much construction is one of the problems of heavy traffic. The city
of Toronto and Toronto Transit Commission planned various construction projects
throughout downtown this spring, summer and fall. The plans have 12 kinds of
construction projects only in downtown (Downtown construction, n.d). These
projects are only government works, private companies does not include in these
projects. Due to these construction projects, there will be shut downs in their
construction sections many pedestrians will be inconvenienced, also drivers

The Role Of Memory In John Steinbeck s The Grapes Of

Wendy seems to bare the brunt of Peter s memory loss in the novel. It is almost a
surprise that Peter has not forgotten her sooner, and in the beginning of the
adventure it appears that he almost did. He constantly abandons them for adventure
during their flights to Neverland and he often forgets who they are when he returns.
Wendy comments, And if he forgets them so quickly...how can we expect that he
will go on remembering us . Peter has a hard time remember people and events, but
does not seem to have a problem with navigating in and around the island. He flies
Wendy and her brothers to the island, and later directs them back to their house.

He questions, who is Captain Hook? and I forget them after I kill them . Despite the
obvious concern with a child killing another human, what is even more concerning is
that Peter kills and then forgets about it. A Freudian psychologist might suggest that
he is subconsciously blocking out the memory, but times are past that era, instead it
might just be that Peter cannot retain memory because he has no room to grow.
Peter never ages, and his playful face is the same throughout generations. While
Peter is blessed with never having to grow up, and therefore never having any real
form of responsibility, he is cursed with the inability to remember. Memories grow
with the individual, it takes place within time regardless of the duration and is
encoded into the brain likewise. The timeline in Neverland is unclear because years
or seconds may pass relative to the real world, but even if the time ratio was one to
one, there is without doubt that Peter s internal clock has stopped ticking. His past
therefore can be considered infinite because no one knows if he is twenty years old
or two thousand. Infinite memory is incomprehensible, as previously stated, as other
characters grow up in Peter Pan their childhood becomes merely snapshots. Peter
may not have the ability to retain memory because he can only live in the present.
For him to have memory of the past would suggest that he
Traditional Family In America
In America the concept of the traditional nuclear family is forced on the population
by means of the media, social media, and the educational systems. The idea or
concept of this is ideal family is a fallacy and no longer is a norm compared to the
1950 s. Only 48.4 percent of households have a married couple; 20 percent of all
households contain married couples who have children living with them (Caruso
Timmermann, 2013). This change means that the traditional familystructure has
evolved. America has a high divorcerate of an estimated 40 to 50 percent. Castelloe
states, that within the last 50 years there has been an increase in divorce, cohabitation
instead of marriage, blended families both gay and heterosexual, and children born out

When children have issues at home, these issues affect other aspects of life, such as,
education, mental health, and social abilities. Tendencies that are different from
social norms, may manifest themselves in a student s education and grades. Parents
recklessly shove children into relationships, forcing them to assimilate. This may be
very problematic and detrimental to a child s mental and emotional health. Often,
parents do not admit to needing help with parenting and resolving issues. A common
belief is that problems will work themselves out and it is just a matter of adjustment,
this is usually false.
All individuals within a blended family, must contend with ethical, gender, economic,
cultural, and educational issues, for example. Deep seeded resentment, perceived
unfair treatment, and lack of attention, may create instability and affect the entire
family unit. These stresses can be too much to bare at times, increasing the risk for
divorce. To assist the family unit, alleviate some of these issues, family members
should spend more time together and increase communication. This helps create a

Adolescence And Its Effects On Adult Behavior Essay
Adolescence is a turbulent time in every individual s life, containing marked
behavioral and biological changes as the brain rapidly develops into its mature form.
This period overlaps with puberty, the process of attaining sexual maturation, and
throughout its progression intricate differences between the two sexes are revealed
that were not previously apparent. (Spear, 2000; TEXTBOOK) It is thought that
adolescence is a necessary process, a period of transition through which individuals
prepare for living independently in adulthood. Adolescents begin to emulate adult
behaviors and seek novelty, with an inhibited regard for danger, as they accumulate
the skills needed to provide for themselves. (Spear, 2000) There are several
characteristics of adolescence that seem to make an individual more prone to
experimenting with addictive druguse, to his or her potential detriment. These
include: an increase in taking species specific risks, an overall rise in novelty
seeking, and a particularly relevant phenomenon of finding peer interactions more
socially rewarding than those conducted with an adult caretaker. (Spear, 2000)
Partaking in illicit drugs is a clear form of risky behavior in human adolescents;
children in developed countries are educated about the potential consequences of
such misconduct, particularly those of abusing alcohol and/or tobacco. However,
animal studies that compare drug use during development versus in adulthood
provide evidence that adults will
The Role Of Identity In Gabriel Marquez s Of Love And...
In Gabriel Marquez book, Of Love and Other Demons, Marquez portrays the
tragedy of a young, neglected girl whose life was heavily impacted by the
colonization of her community in Colombia. Bitten by a rabid dog, Sierva Maria de
Todos los Angeles unnatural condition is entrusted unto the Catholic church, where
she meets Father Cayetano Delaura, who aims to save her from an exorcism. Like
the community s efforts to treat her benign bite, Sierva Maria s identityis ultimately
demolished through the community s impractical treatments that overlook her
personal well being in exchange for their collective satisfaction. By detailing Sierva
Maria s unique characteristics, products of the cultural exchange taking place within
her community, Marquez initially raises doubt on the blind, collective belief that
identity is obtained with no influence from an individual s actions. Furthermore, his
depiction of Sierva Maria s treatment based on her cultural adaptation leads Marquez
to evaluate the challenges that prevent a society from understanding the factors that
influence identity, and ultimately, the consequences of such ignorance. Through the
development of Sierva Maria s deranged family, Marquez delineates a foundation
by which to view Sierva Maria s cultural background. Sierva Maria s mother,
Bernarda Cabrera, is the daughter of one of [the Marquis ] father s former overseers
who had made a fortune in imported foods (40). Being the daughter of an astute

Skeptecism of History and Science
A skeptic is defined in two different ways, a skeptic could be considered as a person
who question the validity and raise doubts to all accepted opinions or accepted
conclusion; a skeptic could also be a philosopher who denies the possibility of
knowledge, or even rational belief, in some sphere. When knowledge is primarily
presented by an abundance of assumption is brought up. Generally, a skeptic often is
required to proceed a thorough evaluation of the assumption or hypothesis presented
in order to provide factual clarity. What may seem correct has the potential to be
completely faulty when another evidence clashes with the primary idea. The two
areas of knowledge that requires to an individual to thoroughly evaluate, question
their claim, ask for clarity, consistency in logic and adequacy of evidence is history
and science. When analyzing a historical event, ideally information is required to be
traced back in both quantitative and qualitative variables. History could be easily
manipulated, misinterpret and biased. For a particular historical event, many claims
could be laid out with certain amount of evidence. For example, many historians
claim that the Holocaust did not happen and the conspiracy theory that America did
not plan on the moon. The reality that anyone is able to propose various theories that
contradicts what may seem as facts to others proves that there are multiple
perspective that needs critical analysis. Historians evaluates the evidence proposed,
they

Staphylococcus Aureus ( Mrsa )
Introduction
Staphylococcus aureus is a Gram positive coccal bacterium which is estimated to
have colonised 20 30% of the human population.1,2,3 S. aureus is normally found in
the anterior nares and mucous membranes of these individuals. For the majority, this
is not a problem as these people are colonised, not infected.2,3 However S. aureus is
an opportunistic pathogen and if it contaminates a breach in the skin or mucous
membranes, it can go on to infect any tissue in the body.3 Infection may lead to
serious life threatening diseases such as pneumonia.4 Over time strains of S. aureus
were able to develop resistance to antibiotics, resulting in strains known as methicillin
resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).
1.1 A brief history
Before the discovery of penicillin, infection with S. aureus had a fatality rate of
approximately 70%. After penicillins discovery and development, treatment of S.
aureus infections became routine resulting in the death rate falling to 25%.5
However, penicillin use provided an inadvertent selection pressure which resulted in
the bacteria mutating and becoming resistant to its effects. The penicillin resistant S.
aureus strains produced enzymes known as penicillinases which break penicillin
down. In 1959, the antibiotic methicillin was developed to battle penicillin resistant
S. aureus infections. At first it was effective, but with increasing use of methicillin S.
aureus once again acquired resistance through the process of natural selection
The Three Levels Of Physical Activity
Physical Activity means any physical movements that consume energy. These
include daily physical tasks such as gardening, walking, morning exercises, job
related manual work and household duties. Sport is also defined as part of physical
activities like tennis, social dance, hiking, etc. According to Miyashita, Burns,
Stensel (2006), their research showed that participating in moderately or vigorously
intense physical acitivity for three times a week and an accumulation of 30 minutes
per day can also reach similar health benefits, which target on all age groups. There
are three levels of physical activity. The first one is Low intensity Physical Activities,
which means simple daily activity in your daily lifestyle such as do chores,... Show

Also, people can play video games which contain active physical movements like
virtual sports game and virtual dancing game. Too tired is also one of the main
reason. It is suggested that having a healthier diet and living style like sleep early, to
improve the body and get more energy to do physical activities. If the measure does
not work, people are suggested to see doctor to have a body check or give advice.
Besides, lack of motivation to do sports is also one of the main reason. According to
survey, Hong Kong people usually play sports with friends/neighbours (46.9%) and
classmates (13.2%). It os suggested that to get friends or classmates to do sports
/ physical activities together which can bring incentives. If you have no companion,
you may try to join sports training courses or physical activities to enlarge social
circle and make friends with them that have similar interest with you. You may also
invite famiy members or bring dog to do physical activities
Heart Of Darkness Kurtz Traits
We, the entirety of the human race, have evolved from a time of primal instinct
and brutal, savage tendencies, into a fully functioning civilization complete with a
plethora of societal expectations to be met paired with a clear set of consequences
that correlate with any actions taken outside of these accepted expectations. We no
longer accept behaviors that we deem to be uncivilized or against our moral codes
of conduct. We exist in this particular type of system for a reason; we have led
ourselves away from the times of ruthless, non restrictive behavior and transformed
ourselves into civilized, intelligent beings who have the ability to reason. We are
able to conform to this behavior because of our system that we have set in place; the

Kurtz. Kurtz is an intriguing character from the very first moment that we are
offered his name. From the first mention of him, we are drawn in and curious to
find out more about this mysterious man who people say has conquered the
wilderness; some even go so far as to speak of him as somewhat of a god. Ian Watt
supports the reasoning we have to assume this, stating there is nothing inherently
improbable in Kurtz s having been accorded sacred, if not actually divine, status . .
. Kurtz would be regarded as calamitous for his people. If he [Kurtz] were to die a
natural death, they [African natives] would have thought that the world would
perish (232 233). From what we find out, he was sent from Europe to civilize the
native savages of Africa, to essentially colonize the region. We support this through
information given about his background such as his mixed French and English
ancestry, and that he was employed by the International Society for the Suppression
of Savage Customs. We can assume that he comes from an educated background in
Europe and is far from a being a savage himself prior to being sent there. Somewhere
along the way, however, Kurtz becomes obsessed with ivory and the means to obtain
it. John A. McClure proposes the
Essay on Iago; The Representation of Villainy in Othello
A villain is defined as an evil character in a novel, movie, play, or other story,
especially one who is the main enemy of the hero according to Encarta Dictionary. In
Othello, Iago fits this definition perfectly though Othello does not recognize that Iago
is his enemy until the end of the story. Iagois the evil minded, backstabbing character
in this dramatic story. He demonstrates this villainy act all through out the story
beginning with being angry with Othellofor not appointing him as lieutenant, his
revenge on cassio for taking his place as lieutenant, and setting up Desdemonato look
like she is cheating on Othello. His machinations are so effective because they flow
consistently. From the very start, Iago s manipulations... Show more content on

Cassio is least fortunate than Othello. Cassio has been a target since the beginning
of the story also not because of anger, but because of revenge. Poor Cassio does not
have a clue about any of the misleading telltales that Iago has influenced Othello to
believe. After Iago gains Othello s trust, he devices a plan to plant Othello s
handkerchief on Cassio s bed, setting Desdemona and Cassio up so when Othello
asks Cassio for his handkerchief, Cassio would show it to Othello thus proving
that Desdemona and Cassio were having an affair. Before all this, Emilia, Iago s
wife, finds the handkerchief from Desdemona s bedroom and gives it to Iago later
that night, allowing the plan to work out which she has no idea about. Othello by
now is already distrusting Desdemona as well as looking down on her. By Act 3,
Scene 3, Othello has every right to believe Iago because his trust is on him and his
words are factual. Desdemona cannot influence Othello to believe in her. All the
signs prove that she is a liar.
Desdemona is the least most fortunate innocent character in this story. Throughout the
whole story, she has been the one that has been faithful. Iago s intention is to help
Rodrigo attain Desdemona, but also at the same time ruin Othello. Othello believes
that Desdemona and Cassio are having an affair because they talk among one another
in secret in regards to reappointing Cassio as lieutenant after being demoted for
fighting
Mesopotamian And Ancient Egyptian Are Two Very
Comparable
Mesopotamian and Ancient Egyptian are two very comparable cultures. There are
similar and differences in regards to their Government, Law, Writing, Cities, Religion,
Jobs, and Technology. This is reflected in their literatures, Epic Gilgamesh, and the
Story of Sinuhe. Gilgamesh in the Epic of Gilgamesh and Sinuhe in the Story of
Sinuhe are important characters that outline the perspective of an ancient society s.
The Epic of Gilgamesh was a story completely written in cuneiform. The author for
this Epic poem is unknown and remains a mystery. According to, Spar, Some time in
the twelfth century B.C., Sin leqi unninni, a Babylonian scholar, recorded what was
to become a classic version of the Gilgamesh tale (p.6).

being buried in Egypt.
When comparing the two characters, there were important events that changes the
character s personality. Gilgamesh s attitude in the Epic of Gilgamesh completely
changed when Enkidu came to his life. His tyrant attuite change when Enkidu was
around. Unlike the Story of Sinuhe, Epic of Gilgamesh included Gods to help explore
more human behavior. For example, they used Ishtar, goddess of fertility to weaken
Gilgamesh and lead him to expose more of his human characteristics by looking
for immorality. After Ishtar subjected herself to Gilgamesh in which he rejects by
saying What could I offer the queen of love in return, who lacks nothing at all?
Balm for the body? The food and drink of the gods? I have nothing to give to her
who lacks nothing at all. You are the door through which the cold gets in.... (Tablet
VI). Gilgamesh is showing how the friendship of Enkidu is changing the way he
evaluates things and points out his evidence as to why he should not engage with
her. This angers her and she made her father curse Enkidu which lead Enkidu to die.

Legalizing Steroids Is Dangerous
Legalizing steroids is dangerous because they are not controllable. Steroids are
becoming popular, but no one is stopping to take a look at all the facts about the
use of them. Remy an avid steroid user who regrets using steroids suggests, There is
no controlled way to use steroids (Campbell 3). Everyone s bodies react different to
what steroids can do. Some more dangerous than others. Controlling steroiduse is
impossible because everyone uses different amounts and even a little can be
dangerous. Harrison Pope a professor of psychiatry at Harvard s McLean Hospital
says, The preliminary data on steroids suggest that long term use damages the
muscle of the heart, significantly increasing the risk of an attack (Butterworth 2). A
continued use of steroids would do damage not only on the heart but the whole body
as well. Heart damage is very likely while using steroids. Views of the opposition
suggest that they are not worried about the un controlling factors. Tim Cowlishaw a
sports writer for the Pittsburgh Post Gazettestates, I think if we made everything
legal, we would learn eventually which drugs and creams, and heaven forbid, antler
sprays actually have benefits and what their risks are (Cowlishaw 1). If society made
steroids legal, controlling amounts would not be imaginable. Anyone could get their
hands on it, which could lead to over use and endangerment of human health.

Scientific Method and Sir Karl Popper
Sir Karl Popper, challenging the status quo, inspiring generations to ponder on the
meaning of science, the methods to find truth, is one of the most influential
philosophers of the 20th century. Of particular importance to scientific methods of
inquiry is the brawl between the development of theory and the criteria for science. In
Popper s own words, it is in this brawl that Popper decided to grapple with the
problem: When should a theorybe ranked as scientific? or Is there a criterion for the
scientific character or status of a theory? (Popper 1957), p. 1).
Born just after the turn of the century in 1902 (my Great Aunt was 4 at the time), in
London, England, Popper began grappling with the brawl between when is theory

The use of empirical methods and inductive explanations is the root cause for Popper
s revolt upon the metaphysical reasoning used to explain social behavior (at this
time). It is not that astrology is a pseudo science; astrology is merely a residue of the
subject of the investigation (Popper 1952). Disciplines are means of administratively
distinguishing the unified systems from which problems may be taught. It is far
more important to understanding falsification that We are not students of a subject
matter but students of problems (Popper 1952)p. 125).
Traditionally, scientists formed hypotheses to explain or rationalize some natural
phoneme that they have observed. Popper intends that a hypothesis must predict a
phenomenon or behavior and not just offer to explain it. I believe that there is not
a classic of science, or of mathematics, or indeed a book worth reading that could
not be shown, by a skillful application of the technique of language analysis, to be
full of meaningless pseudo propositions (Popper 1952), p. 130). Popper is positive
that each hypothesis has a possible contradiction. This sensitiveness to problems to
the extent of having a consuming passion for them fortifies Popper s revolt against
merely accepting plausible and rationalized results of observations.
For falsification to take place, the scientist must identify situations that falsify or
negate the hypothesis. Finally,
The String Theory
Sub atomic particles, known as quarks, electrons, photons, and neutrinos were strewn
across expanding space. Equal amounts of matter and antimatter particles began to
collide and annihilate each other. Gravity, strong and weak nuclear forces, and
electromagnetic forces soon came into play. As the universe started to cool,
fundamental particles called quarks began to smash together forming protons and
neutrons. They, in turn, merged to create the nuclei of simple elements, beginning
with hydrogen, helium, and lithium. This primordial soup contained the building
blocks for everything in the universe. VoilГ, the universe was born.
Matter and energy continued to expand. Static electricity and gravity brought the
expanding matter together. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Strings would also give rise to the forces of nature: gravity, strong and weak nuclear
forces, and electromagnetism. Atoms contain protons that produce a positive charge,
neutrons that produce a neutral charge, and electrons that produce a negative charge.
According to the theory, electrons and quarks, which make up protons and neutrons,
were produced by minuscule, one dimensional, randomly behaving, vibrating strings
of energy. A property of matter or force of nature would be the result when the strings
vibrate and interact with each other.
Not so fast, physicists filled blackboard after blackboard with mathematical equations
to prove that the theory was consistent with the force of gravity. Did not happen. A
theory had to be established that was compatible with the gravitational forces in the
enormous universe and the microscopic world. The modified theory had to include
quantum gravity, a high frequency, string vibration that would produce a graviton. A
graviton is responsible for curving surrounding space. The Super String Theory soon
replaced the Not so super String Theory. Particle/wave duality of matter and energy
on the quantum level joined the mix, boson/fermion partnerships known as
supersymmetry brought the wine, quantum gravity served the hors d oeuvres, and the
Mother of all parties got underway.

Christopher Myers is an author and illustrator of the children s books. In his article
The Apartheid of Children s Literature he quoted the study by the Cooperative
Children s Book Center at the University of Wisconsin, which describes that out of
the 3,200 children s books published last year, just 93 books were written about black
peopleand characters. According to the text, the article transmits the values of the
children s books and how the diversity plays an important role in the books. The
main argument that the authors argued is a dearth of the characters of colors in the
children s literature. Also, the author s point of view has been concentrated on kid s
self esteem and self worth. He called this the mirror and the map functions of
literature. By using this comparison, he claims that kids unable to recognize
themselves in the story and don t see their future possibilities. The table/graphic, from

  • 1. Nature Vs Nurture Essay Topics Crafting an essay on the intricate and perennially debated theme of "Nature vs. Nurture" is no small feat. The challenge lies not only in navigating the extensive literature on the subject but also in striking a delicate balance between the two opposing forces. One must delve into the realms of psychology, genetics, sociology, and philosophy, among other disciplines, to extract the nuances that make this topic so complex. The difficulty arises from the need to sift through a plethora of contrasting theories and empirical studies that span across decades. Researchers have dedicated their careers to unraveling the mysteries of human development, attempting to discern the extent to which genetics and environmental factors contribute to shaping an individual's traits, behaviors, and overall disposition. The sheer volume of information can be overwhelming, and synthesizing diverse perspectives into a cohesive and insightful narrative demands both time and intellectual rigor. Moreover, the essayist must grapple with the ethical implications intertwined with discussions on nature and nurture. The question of whether certain traits are inherent or acquired touches upon contentious issues such as free will, personal responsibility, and societal structures. These ethical considerations add an extra layer of complexity to the essay, requiring careful thought and consideration of multiple viewpoints. As the writer navigates this intellectual labyrinth, the challenge is not merely to present a summary of existing arguments but to contribute a fresh perspective or synthesis that advances the discourse. Striking the right balance between acknowledging the role of genetics and recognizing the impact of environmental factors demands a nuanced and sophisticated approach. In conclusion, tackling a "Nature vs. Nurture" essay is akin to navigating a maze of theories, studies, and ethical dilemmas. • 2. The Similarities Of Susan B. Anthony And Elizabeth Cady... Too many women, in too many countries speak the same language, of silence. Hillary Clinton (Editors, 2015). Citizens from around the world are facing many issues, whether they were economical or political. But the female citizens have a major issue encountering them, which is feminism. Feminism is the advocacy of women s rights on the grounds of political, social, and economic equality to men. (Oxford 2015). It requires a powerful person with great ambitions to make changes and lead the right way. It needs someone who is willing to sacrifice everything to achieve greatness and leave a history behind them. A person with these qualities is considered a hero, an idol, someone we can look up to. Susan B. Anthonyand Elizabeth Cady Stanton are... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The two women had a great friendship, which made them a strong team. The two ladies had published a book of three volumes called History of Women Suffrage (Weebly.com, 2015). They also worked on a militant weekly paper on the Revolution. Furthermore, in 1869 the two formed the National Woman Suffrage Association (NWSA) (A+E Networks, 2015). They traveled all over the country and abroad, promoting woman s rights. They gave speeches and lectures that women have the right to vote and speak (Congress, 2015). As for their differences, Elizabeth Cady Stanton is the brain between the two; her role was the writer and the thinker. She worked constantly throughout all the phases of the women s movement. On the other hand, Susan B. Anthony was described as the Napoleon of the suffragist movement, she was the one who manages the business matters of the women s rights movement. She was the voice of women s suffrage in every congress between 1869 and 1906 (Rochester, 2006). Anthony once got arrested for voting in the presidential elections illegally in 1872 (A+E Networks, 2015), while Stanton settled on the safe

Many believe that the names of capital cities or specific emblems always have a meaning behind them, and that is the case for this country in particular. Although the country as a whole has suffered detrimental set backs in their economics system due to civil war, violence, and enclave production; there still exists a strong Sierra Leonean people and culture full of hope for a brighter future. Portuguese navigators were the first to explore the land of Sierra Leone back in 1462 ( Sierra Leone , 2013). • 4. Frederick Douglass, Learning To Read And Read, Malcolm X Unequal Education Frederick Douglass, Learning to Read and Write , Malcolm X, Learning to Read . How does one compare the struggles between them. First off Mr. Douglass, Learning to Read and Write is not truly comparable with any of the other reading options, and to force comparisons would belittle Mr. Douglass s struggles to do so. Every other reading option had to endure unfair treatment and racism but no one was born into slavery as Mr. Douglass was. Whereas every other reading option had access to underfunded and unequal schools, Mr. Douglass was not afforded these options so order to learn he had to hide it for fear of being beat or killed. I lived in Master Hugh s family about seven years. During this time, I succeeded in learning to read and write. In accomplishing this, I was compelled to resort to various stratagem (Douglass 1). Mr. Douglass not only wanted to learn but had a deep driving need to learn for it was his only route to escape slavery. I resolved to run away. I looked forward to a time at which it would be safe for me to escape. I was too young to think of doing so immediately; besides, I wished to learn how to write,as I might have occasion to write my own pass. I consoled myself with the hope thatI should oneday find a good chance (Douglass 3). Mr. Douglass not only had to overcome being a slave for life but had a deep distrust for others thinking they would betray him for I feared they might be treacherous.White men have been known to
  • 5. Examples Of Love And Suffering In House Of Spirits Love and Suffering in House of Spirits For all of written history (fictional or otherwise) we can clearly see that there has been no great love without great sacrifice and pain. Katniss entered the Hunger Games to spare Prim, Juliet died rather than live without her Romeo, and the Potters went into hiding and were killed by Voldemort just to protect their son, Harry. Much like all of these other famous literary examples, the characters in Isabel Allende s House of the Spirits suffer because of their love for one another. Blanca and Pedro Tercero, for example, are separated for most of their lives, because something or someone is always getting in the way. A prime example of such an obstacle is when Esteban severely beats Blanca when he finds out she s pregnant with Tercero s child, and as further revenge, cuts off Pedro s fingers with an axe. However, Blanca and Pedro eventually spend the rest of their days together, in a small house in Canada where they both ended up very happy. The relationships in House of Spirits all help to further prove that love (or a lack thereof) brings us all great suffering, but also that love is what enables us? to endure the pain. In House of Spirits, lack of love and empathy is often the cause of problems between many characters. Esteban, for example, is extremely volatile, and when his temper turns on his family, it causes major issues. One such outburst causes him knock out his wife Clara s teeth. This particular instance occurs in

Through the Federal Information Security Management ACT (FISMA) it was made mandatory that organizations would have to develop standards that would be in compliance with federal regulations that were put into place. Because of this the Federal Information Processing Standards Publication (FIPS) 199 and FIPS 200 were put into place in order to establish a set of standards for organizations so that they could determine what their category would be for their systems (NIST, 2012). In order to enforce the security categories from FIPS 200, the NIST SP 800 53 would be utilized in order to set in place a security control ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Within this security profile three controls and two family controls were selected to be enforced in order to explore the security awareness and the training being done that can be used as counter measures against any cyber security threats that may pose a problem to the network. • 7. Minimum Living Wage Let s take a look at Figure.1 above, which shows the impact of a minimum wage on employment. The blue colored line shows the supply from labor while the red line shows the demand for labor. Initially, if the market is allowed to work by itself, the equilibrium market wage is W1 and the employment level is E1. At E1, the labor market clears and there is no shortage or surplus. However, implementation of minimum wageor minimum living wagechanges the scenario significantly. If the government sets a wage floor of W* at that wage, the labor would want to supply more, therefore increasing the supply of labor from E1 to E2. However, as the wages now higher, the quantity demanded of labor would be lower, at E3. This leads to an excess supply of labor... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Amy Glasmeier (2014) came up with living wage calculator compiling geographically specific expenditure data for food, childcare, health care, housing, transportation, and other basic necessities (Source: http://livingwage.mit.edu/). In this section, to highlight the issue, we pick up three places across the United States. We chose places from New York State Delhi village, Delaware County, New York; Stony Brook CDP, Suffolk County, New York and one city from Utah Provo city, Utah County, Utah. A quick look at the minimum wage in the three areas would reveal that they share the same minimum wage of $ 7.25 per hour. However, based on the living standards, the living wage is calculated and compared. The comparison is shown in Figure 2 below. The graph clearly reveals that there is a huge variation in living wage in the three places. The living wage is as high as $13.03 in Stony Brook, NY and as low as $8.73 in Provo, UT. In spite of the variation between living wage, the minimum wage is a low $7.25 in all three places, which is even lower than the lowest living wage, in Provo, UT. An analysis with a larger number of cities would have shown the same trend across the country. Therefore, it shows that the focus should be on the living wage, not on minimum wage. Due to this disparity between living wage and minimum wage, minimum wage earners have to working double shifts or live dependent on benefits for financial support in order to have the bare

In a small town in Texas, I was six years old standing in the scorching heat at my very first softball game. I didn t understand the game yet, but I did have a passion for competition. I hit the ball to the first baseman, and took off running toward first base. The first basemen picked the ball up and touched the base, resulting in the first out of the game. I was angered by this and charged the first baseman (also six years old) knocking her off of her feet! I then spat in her face and began to cry. The umpire walked over to my dad, who was the coach. Without making a dramatic scene, the umpire told my dad that I would have to be ejected from the game for unsportsmanlike conduct. I was a hot head! It always had been a challenge for me to control my temper when I am competing on the field. However, over the years I learned how to control my emotions. If people have a busy routine, it is because everything else around them is hectic. Every place is affected by the society s behavior as well. People get busy to meet the expectations of the society they like in. As more pressures are put on an individual, his/ her mood changes. Adolescence And Its Effects On Adult Behavior Essay Adolescence is a turbulent time in every individual s life, containing marked behavioral and biological changes as the brain rapidly develops into its mature form. This period overlaps with puberty, the process of attaining sexual maturation, and throughout its progression intricate differences between the two sexes are revealed that were not previously apparent. (Spear, 2000; TEXTBOOK) It is thought that adolescence is a necessary process, a period of transition through which individuals prepare for living independently in adulthood. Adolescents begin to emulate adult behaviors and seek novelty, with an inhibited regard for danger, as they accumulate the skills needed to provide for themselves. (Spear, 2000) There are several characteristics of adolescence that seem to make an individual more prone to experimenting with addictive druguse, to his or her potential detriment. These include: an increase in taking species specific risks, an overall rise in novelty seeking, and a particularly relevant phenomenon of finding peer interactions more socially rewarding than those conducted with an adult caretaker. (Spear, 2000) Partaking in illicit drugs is a clear form of risky behavior in human adolescents; children in developed countries are educated about the potential consequences of such misconduct, particularly those of abusing alcohol and/or tobacco. For the majority, this is not a problem as these people are colonised, not infected.2,3 However S. aureus is an opportunistic pathogen and if it contaminates a breach in the skin or mucous membranes, it can go on to infect any tissue in the body.3 Infection may lead to serious life threatening diseases such as pneumonia.4 Over time strains of S. aureus were able to develop resistance to antibiotics, resulting in strains known as methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). 1.1 A brief history Before the discovery of penicillin, infection with S. aureus had a fatality rate of approximately 70%. After penicillins discovery and development, treatment of S. aureus infections became routine resulting in the death rate falling to 25%.5 However, penicillin use provided an inadvertent selection pressure which resulted in the bacteria mutating and becoming resistant to its effects. The penicillin resistant S. aureus strains produced enzymes known as penicillinases which break penicillin down. In 1959, the antibiotic methicillin was developed to battle penicillin resistant S. aureus infections. Kurtz would be regarded as calamitous for his people. If he [Kurtz] were to die a natural death, they [African natives] would have thought that the world would perish (232 233). From what we find out, he was sent from Europe to civilize the native savages of Africa, to essentially colonize the region. We support this through information given about his background such as his mixed French and English ancestry, and that he was employed by the International Society for the Suppression of Savage Customs. We can assume that he comes from an educated background in Europe and is far from a being a savage himself prior to being sent there. Somewhere along the way, however, Kurtz becomes obsessed with ivory and the means to obtain it. John A. McClure proposes the
  • 27. Essay on Iago; The Representation of Villainy in Othello A villain is defined as an evil character in a novel, movie, play, or other story, especially one who is the main enemy of the hero according to Encarta Dictionary. In Othello, Iago fits this definition perfectly though Othello does not recognize that Iago is his enemy until the end of the story. Iagois the evil minded, backstabbing character in this dramatic story. He demonstrates this villainy act all through out the story beginning with being angry with Othellofor not appointing him as lieutenant, his revenge on cassio for taking his place as lieutenant, and setting up Desdemonato look like she is cheating on Othello. His machinations are so effective because they flow consistently. From the very start, Iago s manipulations... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Cassio is least fortunate than Othello. Cassio has been a target since the beginning of the story also not because of anger, but because of revenge. Poor Cassio does not have a clue about any of the misleading telltales that Iago has influenced Othello to believe. After Iago gains Othello s trust, he devices a plan to plant Othello s handkerchief on Cassio s bed, setting Desdemona and Cassio up so when Othello asks Cassio for his handkerchief, Cassio would show it to Othello thus proving that Desdemona and Cassio were having an affair. Before all this, Emilia, Iago s wife, finds the handkerchief from Desdemona s bedroom and gives it to Iago later that night, allowing the plan to work out which she has no idea about. Othello by now is already distrusting Desdemona as well as looking down on her. By Act 3, Scene 3, Othello has every right to believe Iago because his trust is on him and his words are factual. Desdemona cannot influence Othello to believe in her. All the signs prove that she is a liar. Desdemona is the least most fortunate innocent character in this story. Throughout the whole story, she has been the one that has been faithful. Iago s intention is to help Rodrigo attain Desdemona, but also at the same time ruin Othello. Othello believes that Desdemona and Cassio are having an affair because they talk among one another in secret in regards to reappointing Cassio as lieutenant after being demoted for fighting

Unlike the Story of Sinuhe, Epic of Gilgamesh included Gods to help explore more human behavior. For example, they used Ishtar, goddess of fertility to weaken Gilgamesh and lead him to expose more of his human characteristics by looking for immorality. After Ishtar subjected herself to Gilgamesh in which he rejects by saying What could I offer the queen of love in return, who lacks nothing at all? Balm for the body? The food and drink of the gods? I have nothing to give to her who lacks nothing at all. You are the door through which the cold gets in.... (Tablet VI). Gilgamesh is showing how the friendship of Enkidu is changing the way he evaluates things and points out his evidence as to why he should not engage with her. This angers her and she made her father curse Enkidu which lead Enkidu to die. Similar to Sinuhe s

Steroids are becoming popular, but no one is stopping to take a look at all the facts about the use of them. Remy an avid steroid user who regrets using steroids suggests, There is no controlled way to use steroids (Campbell 3). Everyone s bodies react different to what steroids can do. Some more dangerous than others. Controlling steroiduse is impossible because everyone uses different amounts and even a little can be dangerous. Harrison Pope a professor of psychiatry at Harvard s McLean Hospital says, The preliminary data on steroids suggest that long term use damages the muscle of the heart, significantly increasing the risk of an attack (Butterworth 2). A continued use of steroids would do damage not only on the heart but the whole body as well. Heart damage is very likely while using steroids. Views of the opposition suggest that they are not worried about the un controlling factors. Tim Cowlishaw a sports writer for the Pittsburgh Post Gazettestates, I think if we made everything legal, we would learn eventually which drugs and creams, and heaven forbid, antler sprays actually have benefits and what their risks are (Cowlishaw 1). If society made steroids legal, controlling amounts would not be imaginable. Anyone could get their hands on it, which could lead to over use and endangerment of human health. Legalizing steroids represents cheating in all sports across the nation. There will always

  • 31. Scientific Method and Sir Karl Popper Sir Karl Popper, challenging the status quo, inspiring generations to ponder on the meaning of science, the methods to find truth, is one of the most influential philosophers of the 20th century. Of particular importance to scientific methods of inquiry is the brawl between the development of theory and the criteria for science. In Popper s own words, it is in this brawl that Popper decided to grapple with the problem: When should a theorybe ranked as scientific? or Is there a criterion for the scientific character or status of a theory? (Popper 1957), p. 1). Born just after the turn of the century in 1902 (my Great Aunt was 4 at the time), in London, England, Popper began grappling with the brawl between when is theory scientific ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The use of empirical methods and inductive explanations is the root cause for Popper s revolt upon the metaphysical reasoning used to explain social behavior (at this time). It is not that astrology is a pseudo science; astrology is merely a residue of the subject of the investigation (Popper 1952). Disciplines are means of administratively distinguishing the unified systems from which problems may be taught. It is far more important to understanding falsification that We are not students of a subject matter but students of problems (Popper 1952)p. 125). Traditionally, scientists formed hypotheses to explain or rationalize some natural phoneme that they have observed. Popper intends that a hypothesis must predict a phenomenon or behavior and not just offer to explain it. I believe that there is not a classic of science, or of mathematics, or indeed a book worth reading that could not be shown, by a skillful application of the technique of language analysis, to be full of meaningless pseudo propositions (Popper 1952), p. 130). Popper is positive that each hypothesis has a possible contradiction. This sensitiveness to problems to the extent of having a consuming passion for them fortifies Popper s revolt against merely accepting plausible and rationalized results of observations. For falsification to take place, the scientist must identify situations that falsify or negate the hypothesis. Finally,

Equal amounts of matter and antimatter particles began to collide and annihilate each other. Gravity, strong and weak nuclear forces, and electromagnetic forces soon came into play. As the universe started to cool, fundamental particles called quarks began to smash together forming protons and neutrons. They, in turn, merged to create the nuclei of simple elements, beginning with hydrogen, helium, and lithium. This primordial soup contained the building blocks for everything in the universe. VoilГ, the universe was born. Matter and energy continued to expand. Static electricity and gravity brought the expanding matter together. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Strings would also give rise to the forces of nature: gravity, strong and weak nuclear forces, and electromagnetism. Atoms contain protons that produce a positive charge, neutrons that produce a neutral charge, and electrons that produce a negative charge. According to the theory, electrons and quarks, which make up protons and neutrons, were produced by minuscule, one dimensional, randomly behaving, vibrating strings of energy. A property of matter or force of nature would be the result when the strings vibrate and interact with each other. Not so fast, physicists filled blackboard after blackboard with mathematical equations to prove that the theory was consistent with the force of gravity. Did not happen. A theory had to be established that was compatible with the gravitational forces in the enormous universe and the microscopic world. The modified theory had to include quantum gravity, a high frequency, string vibration that would produce a graviton. A graviton is responsible for curving surrounding space. The Super String Theory soon replaced the Not so super String Theory. Particle/wave duality of matter and energy on the quantum level joined the mix, boson/fermion partnerships known as supersymmetry brought the wine, quantum gravity served the hors d oeuvres, and the Mother of all parties got underway. In his article The Apartheid of Children s Literature he quoted the study by the Cooperative Children s Book Center at the University of Wisconsin, which describes that out of the 3,200 children s books published last year, just 93 books were written about black peopleand characters. According to the text, the article transmits the values of the children s books and how the diversity plays an important role in the books. The main argument that the authors argued is a dearth of the characters of colors in the children s literature. Also, the author s point of view has been concentrated on kid s self esteem and self worth. He called this the mirror and the map functions of literature. By using this comparison, he claims that kids unable to recognize themselves in the story and don t see their future possibilities.
