Ideas and Purpose
Is the writing piece clear and focused, so that the reader is reading a fictional piece in form of a
fairy tale? The piece has an outline of a fairy tale, though it s missing a strong central story. There
is repetition of thoughts, or random scattered ideas throughout the piece. The piece has an
apparent story line, though it may get lost at times. Overall the writer has superficially written a
basic fairy tale with only basic use of elements. The piece has a clear purpose and central story
line that is supported throughout the piece. It is evident that the writer used the most of the
elements of the genre to create a coherent fairy tale. The piece has a clear purpose and central story

Does the writing unfold in a way that is coherent and easy to follow the flow of ideas? The piece

The War Of Rebellion And The Civil War
There are many events, people, and differences that led to the civil war. The main being that the
South wanted to keep on with slavery while the North did not. The civil war, also known as the
War of Rebellion, began on April 12, 1861, and the last battle was on May 13, 1865. There was
over three million soldiers fighting for the Confederates and the Union combined. There was around
600,000 casualties during this war, more on the Unions side. Abraham Lincolnplayed a big part in
the Civil War considering that he was the president during the time of the Civil War. He was the
16th president and the first republican president. In his first inaugural speech he tried to appeal to
the southern states even though seven of them had already seceded. At the end of this speech
Lincoln cleverly stated , Shall it be peace, or the sword, . Lincoln made the decision to go to war
with the south because he felt that when they illegally seceded from the union he needed to try to
keep the union together as the president.
All throughout the war Abraham made sure that they were enough weapons, that they were tested,
and there were generals for the armies. Not only did Lincoln help with managing the war he also
helped with the funds. In 1862 the Revenue Act was passed, this brought income tax to the United
States and helped with the cost of war.
In 1863 Abraham passed the Emancipation Proclamation. All though the Emancipation
Proclamation was officially in effect on January 1, 1863, Lincoln

Why Is Social Class Important In An Inspector Calls
Social class in important in An Inspector Calls. This is because the Birling family all helped to
contribute to Eva s suicide. If all the characters didn t think that class was important, Eva would

they are very old fashioned and traditional. Mr Birling keen to be knighted to show his hard

businessman. Mr Birling says I m sure she ll make you happy. Happy suggests that he will look

Sheila Birling is in the class as her family. This is important as she is made to act like Mrs

that people have different ideas to her and her husband. Sheila fired Eva because she is higher in

Federal Special Education Act Analysis
Part I: Important Laws Regarding Special Education in the United States
Federal special education Acts have progressed over time to insure that all children, including those
with disabilities, have equal access to education. (Hardman Dawson, 2008, p. 5) The factors that led
to these important federal Acts are varied, but the civil rights movement played a role in ensuring
that there were equal education opportunities for all children (Gargiulo, 2015, p. 42) (Hardman
Dawson, 2008).
In 1975 the Education for all Handicapped Children Act (PL 94 142) was signed by President
Gerald Ford and is notable for the following enduring concepts: a free appropriate public education
(FAPE) in the least restrictive environment (LRE) which is tailored ... Show more content on

The federal Act was designed to ensure academic success for each child and anticipated that the
goals of NCLB would be achieved by 2013. If a student did not meet standards, the federal
government was to hold the school and school s educators accountable. Access to success at school
extended to all students, including those with disabilities (Hardman Dawson, 2008, p. 5). As part
of the Act, systems were to be put in place to alert parents to schools who were having difficulty
obtaining adequate yearly progress for their students (Gargiulo, 2015, p.

The Cloud Of Cloud Technology
Cloud Technology Recipients of instantaneous access to data anywhere, anytime, at any online
terminal, are known as cloud users, as the avenue for experiencing these luxuries is cloud
computing. This can be achieved by using free services such as Drive offered by Google, or
iCloud from Apple, or via OneDrive from Microsoft. Much like a music library on a personal
computer cloud computing stores data, all the while making it accessible everywhere. Instead of
having to be at a physical machine to access the data, one can place this data into a cloud that can
be accessed anytime, online, when they feel like it. Even more so this is great in everyday life
scenarios. For instance, one can take photos from their iPhone on a day hike in the... Show more

In essence, this technology came about when the culmination of Internet Service Providers
(ISP) developed the ability to host web services and create a virtualized infrastructure (MSV,
2012, p. 5). A virtualized infrastructure better known as virtualization is where multiple servers
are consolidated (MSV, 2012, p. 5). For instance, an organization can have individual servers for
each of the following roles like Web Servers, Database Servers and Messaging Servers (MSV,
2012, p. 4). Instead of having a plethora of servers to handle these many different roles each
server is virtualized to take on multiple roles here by the data center infrastructure can be
consolidated from hundreds of servers to just tens of servers (MSV, 2012, p. 4). Initially this
technology was implemented in data centers as a means for organizations to lower a data
centers total cost of ownership; therefore, saving companies significant amounts of money on
power bills, cooling equipment, and hardware in general (MSV, 2012, p. 5). Although today s cloud
technology is widely developing into a product called Software as a Service (SaaS) (Srinivasan,
2013, p.48). In example, services like iCloud, Google Drive, or OneDrive from Microsoft are
considered SaaS (Srinivasan, 2013, p.49). These examples offer a certain amount of free storage
space for users who employ their services and have an account which is usually free as well. The

Stick Figures In Australia
For the Australian fairy tale, it has been a long journey in search of nationhood identity. With the
enduring legacy of Australia s history as a settler colony there was no surprise that it invested the
landscape with strangeness and it became a part of the dream like world within fairy tales.
Through the history of Australian literary culture, the mythology of the bush tradition has been a
powerful voice in the Australian cultural context, which continues to have strong force in creating
national identity. However, it has become an inaccurate form of cultural identity. Here I will show
how the texts The Gown of Cobweb Lace in Peg Maltbys collection Peg s Fairy book and Stick
Figures in Tales of Outter Suburbia by Shaun Tan, illuminates the evolution of illustration in the
fairy tales which seems to have recorded the social history that has not been described in any other
form, exploring... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

place in society, pulling together a sense of the urban landscape that is disconnected from the
natural elements of the bush, that was smothered in pegs tale the gown of cobweb lace .
It is clear within Stick Figures the world around them has evolved, and they are the ones that are
out of place and do not belong, however, there is a clear message of self reflection as the stick
figures cause their abusers to question their own existence its as if they take all our questions and
offer them straight back. Who are you? Why are you here? What do you want? (Tan, 69). The
alienation of these creatures draws upon a sense of ownership, somewhat reflecting the historic
implications that got us to Australia in the first

Smiley Face In Watchmen
The smiley face in the comic book Watchmen is the most recognized image, which is iconic
throughout the entire storyline, especially in the beginning and at the end of the story. The
smiley face has a blood stain spattered from its center to the upper left which is interpreted as a
clock s minute hand that points at twelve minutes to the hour which is in particularly implied to
have a connection with the Doomsday Clock. According to this, the few minutes left are
interpreted to be representing how the catastrophic destruction of the world is very close. The

character, The Comedian, who is described to be ruthless and very cynical. The symbolism here
is very profound and well illustrated all to support the major theme of the book as it is
developed by the characters like The Comedian who are involved in various scenes as
superheroes of the society. Throughout his role, The Comedian reflects a character with deeper
insights as part of the heroes who are costumed in the society. The symbol, smiley, is used in a
religious poster featuring Buddha (V.7 22). A yellow sun is seen behind him and the sun is
spattered with blood in the same position as the blood stained badge. The stain of blood also
covers the left eye of Buddha just as it does on the smiley face. In the comic, Mrs. Hirsch s is the
mother of two children who were killed by their father and later on is questioned by police office.

The reasoning for postponement is different for each individual pupil (Tews, 2013). Adult students
often attend school only part time, as compared to the traditional full time position (Tews, 2013).
Traditional students often work to flourish in the subjects regardless of their destination (Tews,
2013). Adult learners are outcome oriented, when adults do not visualize the desired result they
leave school (Tews, 2013). Many traditional students have family that expects them to stay in
school (Tews, 2013). As compared to the adult learner, traditional learners may not always have
clear objectives in mind (Tews, 2013). Adult learners are more disposed to accepting
accountability for their own learning (Tews, 2013). Critical thinking is a tool for decision making
and solving problems, which is an important characteristic of a prosperous learner at a distance or
traditional (Tomei, 2010).
Learning outcomes in online instruction reflect both the course goals and students information
technology competency (Shinkareva Benson, 2007). When research compares the amount of time
dedicated to distance versus traditional instruction in the areas of distribution of instructional
content, student guidance and advisement, and student evaluation, the findings clearly show that,
with the exception of student evaluation, more time is necessary to deliver a course at a distance
(Tomei, 2010). To be able to convey more effective and efficient results

Advertisements And The Appeal Of Fear
Dionne Delgado Ms.Westmoreland Green ENGL 1321 02 April 22, 2016 Advertisements and
the Appeal to Fear Advertisements can be positive and negative in a person s day to day life.
Advertisements are all around us. Advertisements can be found on t.v., internet, magazines and
on billboards. Some of these advertisements help decide what people should spend money on.
Those advertisements give people so many different choices on what clothes and makeup people
want to buy, what different foods are out there to satisfy the different cravings people have or
what exotic vacation destination to take. The one advertisement that sticks out the most to me are
the advertisements about drinking and driving. Advertisers and Advertisements use the fear
appeal to get these driver s attention to stop and face the reality of what drinking and driving
will do to themselves and to others. Drinking and driving is a huge problem. When you are under
the influence of alcohol you are putting yourself and others at risk for injuries and even death.
Budweiser created a commercial Simply Put with actress Helen Mirren during the 2016 super

behind the wheel. During this commercial Helen Mirren said that she denounces anyone who is
willing to put their life or anyone s life in danger while under the influence of alcohol. She

Essay On Drug Addiction
When a person has a drug addiction, they have a disease that has the ability to affect and hurt the
entire family. Everyone in the addict s immediate family is affected in one way or another.
Addiction impacts a family s finances, physical health as well as psychological wellbeing. It can
also cause tension, miscommunication, and more frequent arguments within a household which in
turn creates an unhealthy environment for everyone involved. The addict can be very
unpredictable which can cause anxiety, emotional pain, stress, and a loss of trust because that
person cannot be counted on to follow through with what they say. Frequently, the people who are
addicted don t even realize or believe they are causing these problems within their families. And
unfortunately, they don t view themselves as sick or suffering from a problem, so they don t reach
out for help. When the person finally realizes they may have a problem, they believe the solution is
to escape and run away from their addiction.
In Sonny s Blues, Sonny tells his brother I couldn t tell you when Mama died but the reason I
wanted to leave Harlem so bad was to get away from drugs. And then, when I ran away, that s
what I was running from really. (218) At this point, Sonny is telling his brother he was willing to
leave his family behind to run away from his addiction. But it also shows how misguided he was,
or rather all drug addicts, to think he could just run away from the drugs. Because in the end, he

Differences Between The Governmental Accounting Standard...
Comparing and Contrasting The Difference Between GASB and FASB By: Chris Lawson Keiser
University For as long as human interactions have allowed the exchange of value between goods
or services, accountancy has been the language of which business transactions are speaking (Salem,
2013). Accounting keeps track of and explains how money is used by non profit organizations, for
profit businesses, governments and other individuals. Sounds simple enough right? Well, in all
reality it is not that simple. Nowadays, there are many different forms of accounting let alone
different set of standards that certain, and sometimes all, organizations must follow. Today there are
two main standard setters in the United States that is responsible for providing up to date standards
for its corresponding organizations. Although these two standards are very similar in nature, they
are also very different when it comes to their own individual reporting requirements. Throughout
the rest of this paper I will not only compare and contrast the differences between the
Governmental Accounting Standard Board (GASB) and the Financial Accounting Standard Board
(FASB), but also how they differ when it comes to their reporting requirements. To get a better
understanding of who these standard setters are, let s go over a brief history and background of
these two accounting standard boards. The first standard board to be discussed is FASB. FASB
was created in 1973, after the Accounting Principle Board

The Importance Of Inventory Management
Generally, most of the inventory costs are not always fixed due to uncertainty of competitive
market. In the existing literature, it is found that several researchers have worked on uncertainty
considering inventory parameters as fuzzy valued. In this work, we have represented the inventory
parameters as interval. Using this concept, we have developed a two warehouse inventorymodel
with advanced payment, partial backlogged shortage. Due to uncertainty, this problem cannot be
solved by existing direct/indirect optimization technique. For this purpose, different variants of
particle swarm optimization technique (viz. PSO CO, WQPSO and GQPSO) have been developed
to solve the problem of the proposed inventory model by using interval... Show more content on

Again, Taleizadeh et al. [6] has formulated an inventory model taking jointly price, replenishment
frequency, and replenishment cycle and production rate and optimized it. Tsao [7] has made an
inventory model which helps for a decision to find joint location, inventory, and preservation
facility under delay in payments condition. Shaikh et al. [8] have proposed an economic order
quantity model for deteriorating item with preservation technology investment. Shaikh et al.[9]
have again explored another inventory model with non instantaneous deterioration inventory model
with price and stock dependent demand for fully backlogged shortages under inflation.
Subsequently, Pal [10] has discussed a stochastic production inventory model for deteriorating item
with finite life cycle. Except the earlier mentioned work, many other researchers have also
developed the inventory model considering deterioration as a factor. Here we have cited few of
them in Table 1.
Another factor in inventory management is availability of physical space to store the goods for
smooth running the business. In this regard, two warehouse system facilities is in the eye of
business organization. In a two warehouse system there are

More people than ever before are going to college. This is because people who graduate college
earn more on average than those who never went to college. In 2015, college graduates earned 56%
more than high school graduates. (Rugaber). So, it only makes sense to continue to push students
to only see their end goal as attending and graduating college. Every student should be encouraged,
if not required to continue their educationwith college. Those who go straight into the workforce
or attend a trade school will never be as successful as those who have a college education. Even

South Africa Is a Sick Nation
1.Comments in Jansen words saying South Africa is a sick nation:
I agree, because according to Jansen:
We burn down and break down:
Every time there is a problem people doesn t like to wait for negotiations with the government
but they just burn the properties of the state and all the important assets for service delivery and
equipment.
If people strike they burn cars, hospitals, police stations and they forget that tomorrow they will
need those things that is why I agree with Jansen that South Africa is a sick country.
We turn over garbage cans:
We take all the trash cans and pour them on the street as a sign of being angry and not satisfied
and this can result in problems such as dirty streets, air and land pollution and it will affect our
lives and put our lives in danger.
We beat each other senseless with chairs in the political rallies:
We don t have shame or don t think for the lives of others because we harm them in such a
way as if they don t live with us they are not part of us and we destroy our morals and respect by
fighting our brothers and sister instead of fighting the problems that we are facing in the country.
We threaten each other and we kill each other
We like to set standard for others and tell them if they don t reach those standard or certain
activities that they were given we are going to kill them.
We forget that killing each other won t bring peace in our nation but it will just bring shame
and too much hatred to us and we won t

problems of income inequality are taking away peoples aspect human dignity, this is a major moral

believes that all people deserve an equal chance to work and provide a living for not only
themselves but their families as well. According to the USCCB the bottom 50% controls just 4.5%
of the overall wealth in this country and that is not an even distribution of wealth. This means
that those people who are in the bottom 50% do not have the same opportunities as the others
because simply put they do not control nearly close to the same amount of money. Additionally
the top 10% of people s income has increased by over 200% since 1948 while the other 90% has
increased by only 100%. This shows that the top 10% s wealth has increased by double the
amount the rest of the population has, meaning that the disparity of wealth in the nation is only

The Cause And Effects Of Climate Change
It is obvious that climate change is real, and humans are having an inordinate impact on the natural
processes of the earth. This impact is leading to changes in the storm system of the Atlantic Ocean.
The increase in overall global temperatures is leading to an increase in ocean surface temperatures.
When looking at the process of hurricane creation, it is clear that this increase in temperature will
affect the creation of tropical storms. Warmer oceans create more intense hurricanes. Also,
historical records provide definitive proof of an increase in hurricane activity in the Atlantic. Over
the past few centuries, increases in size, intensity and rainfall have been detected by thousands of
scientists. Scientific models such as those created by the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on
Climate Change) suggest an increase in intensity of tropical cyclones due to anthropogenic changes.
These changes are detrimental to society and are a direct consequence of human induced climate
change. If climate change continues to worsen, so will the intensity and effect of tropical storms.
The increase in sea surface temperaturedue to human activity is unquestionably contributing to an
upsurge in intensity of tropical storms and hurricanes. When one looks at the science of how
hurricanes are formed from tropical storms, it is only logical that increased ocean temperatures will
increase the intensity. Tropical storms are formed when the air above the ocean cools faster than

Moral Responsibility Of The Army As A Profession
A TRADOC approved white paper present the Army as a profession, referring to it as the
Profession of Arms and comparing it to the medical, theological and legal professions. Moral
responsibility towards society bestows professionals with ample discretions for their social service,
and expects that all professionals will acts as custodians of the public trust. The continued

Taylor Swift s Song Shake It Off
A poem is a piece of writing that arouses strong emotions because of its beauty. Poems can be
expressed in both a speech and a song. The famous pop/country artist, Taylor Swift, expresses her
poems in the form of songs. Her poems are written in a modern literature. She contributes to this
literature because she writes her songs based on what is going on in the modern world and in
her life. This is especially noticeable in her song, Shake it off. In this song she describes how
people spread rumors and that you need to just let them go. This relates to the world today
because bullying is a huge factor in today s society. This poem offers readers different ways to
deal with being gossiped about or bullied. It also shows that being yourself... Show more content on

The form of the poem, Shake it off, is written in a closed form and is written in the form of a
lyric poem. It is written in a closed form because it follows a regular rhythm. It is in the form of
a lyric poem because it portrays the thoughts and feelings of the writer and does not tell a story.
This is present in stanza six when Swift says, I never miss a beat/ I m lighting on my feet/ And
that s what they don t see, mmm mmm/ That s what they don t see, mmm mmm (Swift). This
example shows how the poem is written in a closed form because of the rhythm, rhyme, and
meter. It also shows that it is a lyric poem because Swift talks about her feelings in first person.
The form of the poem is written in a closed form to help the reader distinguish a certain pattern or
sound. It is written as a lyric poem because Swift wants to talk about her feelings in a way that
the reader can recognize a certain beat to allow them to find reading the poem interesting. This
is portrayed in stanza eleven when swift says, My ex man brought his new girlfriend/ She s like
Oh, my god! but I m just gonna shake./ And to the fella over there with the hella good hair/ Won
t you come on over, baby? We can shake, shake, shake (Swift 2014). This example shows the
rhythm that the poem has to let the reader know that it is written in a closed form. It also shows
the type of form the poem is written in. It does this by

Tom Brokaw’s The Greatest Generation Essay
Tom Brokaw s The Greatest Generation
In Tom Brokaw s book, The Greatest Generation, the author portrays ordinary people of a certain
generation as having qualities of greatness and heroism. He tells stories of average people that
lived inspiring lives through many hardships, and declares today s society as the beneficiary of
their challenging work and commitment. Brokaw s generous and proficient use of imagery helps to
persuade the reader to believe that the people of the greatest generation are, indeed, heroic. He
defines the strength and resilience of the greatest generation by what they were able to confront and
overcome.

What those unsuspecting infants could not have realized, of course, was that these were

dangerous and unpredictable, so fierce that they threatened not just America but the very future
of the planet. (p4) Brokaw s use of imagery here helps the reader understand the drastic nature of
the change that occurred in the world between the 1920s and 1940s. He is stating that the youth
of our nation was living in a safe harbor for only a short period of time, almost as if under false
pretenses, and that this promising future of America veered radically off a path as they had to
face the unprecedented crash of the stock market, with damage so great that over a thousand
banks would close, millions of people would become unemployed and homeless, and an
overwhelming sense of economic calamity would sweep the feet out from under their fragile
vision of security. Brokaw described this in the chapter titled The Time of their Lives, as a time
when A mass of homeless and unemployed drifted across the American landscape. (p7) This gives
the reader an image of millions of people hopelessly wandering the country in search for work to
survive. The

Speech On Turning The Other Cheek
In this world people are faced with the most difficult decision of doing the right thing even when
it could mean being hurt again and again. Teachers, mentors, pastors, and psychologist have
studied the topic of turning the other cheek . Is it right to offer forgiveness to a situation even if
the situation is not solved properly? The debate goes on and on but, the one thing people should
realize is that even if the situation is looking bad their is always some goodthat can come out of it.
A scholar by the name of Kent M.Keith once wrote , People really needhelp but may attack you if
you do help them.Help people anyway.Give the world the best you have and you ll get kicked in
the teeth.Give the world the best you have anyway. While analyzing this quote further, I have found
that in any bad situation there still is room for improvement by implementing a sense of kindness
and compassion for the situation at hand.
For example, I work at a home improvement store called The Home Depot. In Home Depot you are
sure to find a good day and a bad day. Customers come to The Home Depot looking for an item as
well as good customer service. As being a cashier, my first priority is to make sure that every
customer is properly taken care of on their way into the building and when you re leaving out the
building. If the customer doesn t feel like they re being taken care of it can get very disappointing

The Pros And Cons Of Animal Cloning
When the subject of cloning is brought up, many people expect to see an exact replica of a
person, including the same age. However, there is much more to cloning than creating an identical
person from the original. A clone is defined to be a cell or organism that is genetically
indistinguishable to the original cell or organism from which it is acquired (Rogers, 2015). Cloning
was introduced in 1903 by Herbert J. Webber, who was an American plant scientist and used
cloning in reference to plants that had been assembled through asexual propagation by horticultural
methods. Plants that are propagated asexually, whether from twigs or cuttings of other parts or
from bulbs or buds, are exact genetic replicas of their parent plant (Rogers, 2015). In nature, cloning
happens all the time. Thesis: There are many different topics to cloning other than the subject that
began the idea of cloning. Over the years, the topics of human cloning and animal cloning have
been discussed bringing debate on ethical issues and whether there are any advantages or
disadvantages.
Animal cloning is a process by which a complete organism is replicated from a single cell
extracted from the parent organism and in a manner in which they are genetically the same
(Cloning, 2017). Meaning, that the cloned animal is an exact copy of its parent; both contain the
identical DNA (Cloning, 2017). More specifically, in reproductive cloning, researchers remove a
mature somatic cell, such as a skin cell, from

Are companies more powerful than nation state in international relations?
Chak Shu Fai, 52626878
Introduction
This essay will focus on the influential relations between companies and nation states in
international relations. It is a serious issue because companies have raised the importance in
international relations, especially non governmental organizations (NGOs) and intergovernmental
organizations (IGOs). According to the data collected by the Union of International Associations,
there were over 66,000 international organizations, include NGOs and IGOs, in 300 countries and
territories in 2013. More approximately 1,200 new organizations are added each year (Sheldon,
2014). The major increasing numbers of the international organizations is one of the evidence to

For instance, it functions as a response to problems of incomplete information, transaction costs and
other barriers to improve the efficiency and welfare for their members (Barnett Finnemore, 1999).
The concept of powerful international organizations also can be found from professor Weiler
(2003), international organizations have increasingly themselves interpreted their powers in an
expansive manner that blurs the role of State consent, and States have increasingly conferred
broader public powers of governance on international organizations. There is no doubt that
international organizations have taken a deeper role in international relation, but it has different
degrees of influence toward small nation states and big countries. In order to have a clearer picture
of international organization s influence in international relations, the essay is divide in two part.

Gun Safety Essay
Gun Safety
Some people like to shoot guns for hunting, some like to shoot them for recreation. Whatever the
reason, when using guns, there are steps you need to take to be safe, whether shooting or storing
them. The first basic rule is to never assume your gun is not loaded. No matter what, always check
to make sure there is no ammunition in the gun. Another big rule is to remember that the safety
(which is to prevent the gun from firing) of the gun is a mechanical device and can fail. Always
point the gun in a safe direction (which is away from people, etc.). Horseplay should be avoided
at all times when handling a gun. For storage, always make sure the gun is unloaded and locked in
a location that is inaccessible to children. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
***For added protection, there are different types of storage and/or locks for guns also. The first
is a lockbox. It is a small metal case that is used for handguns. An advantage of this case is that
there is quick access if the lock is pushbutton. A disadvantage is that it costs more than a trigger
or cable lock. The average price is anywhere from $40 to $200+. Second, a gun vault or safe
comes in a variety of sizes to fit all types of guns. Some advantages are that it is difficult to steal,
allows for numerous guns of different sizes, there is storage for other items and valuables, and
they are usually fire safe. Some disadvantages are that it costs more than cable locks or lock
boxes and they are also heavy and difficult to move. The price range is anywhere from $100 to
$2000. The cable lock is a cable that is inserted into the chamber and locked (like a bike lock) to
prevent a shell from being fired. Advantages are that the long cables are able to thread through
several guns and they are inexpensive. Disadvantages are that the cable is thin and can be easily
cut. Price ranges from free to $20+. Next the trigger lock is a two piece rigid cylinder that fits
behind the trigger so it cannot move. A combination opens this lock. Advantages are that it is
inexpensive, they are widely available, and there is quick access to the gun. Some disadvantages
are that they may break easily and may not prevent theft because the locks can be removed later.

verse three the description becomes worse. He is described as despised and rejected of men; a man

by appearing on two occasions. While Christ was a man of sorrows, because He bore our griefs and

Relationship Between The Live Event And The Document...
This paper will explore a range of perspectives on the relationship between the live event and the
document within performance practice, specifically focus on in relation to body, time and space.
Performance art is commonly known as a performance presented to a viewer within a fine art
context. Through performance artists emphasize the body s role in artistic production. Historically,
performance archive has been characterized as an unfaithful representation of the momentary art
experience. Yet, in contemporary art the relationship between live performance practices and
documentation has progressed towards reconciliation. Whether, the performance is scripted or
unscripted, the performer s body is present or absent. Performance artcan happen in any type of
venue and for any length of time. Documentation of performance practice documents the actions of
an individual or a group at a particular place and in a particular time.
A fascination with the human body, body were an experience that could somehow be held in
common. The ways in which we might experience the body as connected or represent it as
disconnected in a live performance. Shifting attention from traditional art object to the artist s
physical action further proposed that art existed in real space and real time. Marina Abramovic, a
pioneer of performance art began using her own body as the subject, object, and medium in the
early 1970s as she said, In performance my body is object and subject. For the exhibition

Cross Cultural Research On Emotion Expression
Although the majority of cross cultural research on emotion expression has examined facial
expressions as the primary indicator, evidence of cultural differences has also been found in
emotion expression through non facial cues. For instance, Sauter, Eisner, Ekman, and Scott (2010)
investigated whether emotions expressed through vocalization can be recognized across two
disparate cultures: English and Himba (a culturally isolated Namibian group). Although their main
finding focused on the universality of emotional vocalization, they found that some positive
emotions were not recognized across cultures, implying that some vocalizations used to express
emotions may be culturally specific. Regarding this result, Sauter (2010) has conducted subsequent
research focusing on cultural specificity. She revealed that English participants paired smiling faces
with vocalizations of amusement and achievement; on the other hand, Himba participants paired
the smiling faces only with vocalizations of amusement. This result indicates that people from
different cultures may use different vocalizations to express emotions and interpret them in
different ways. In addition, there is evidence of cultural difference in bodily expressions of emotion.
Kleinsmith, De Silva, and Bianchi Berthouze (2006) concluded in their study that the Japanese tend
to be less animated in bodily expressions of emotion, compared to Americans or Sri Lankans. This
finding implies that people from Eastern cultures tend

works with a small group of people that include a PR manager, a financial advisor etc. In the
beginning of the movie we see Henry discussing the Lehman Brothers situation with his team.
He asks for his team s opinions and feedback like a democratic leader would. Henry also knew
when to tell his team what to do. Later on in the movie Henry is seen telling his PR manager to
find a new solution to solve the problem for the Lehman Brothers when plan A doesn t work.
Henry isn t just a leader to his team but to the people around him as well. During a boardroom

Credit is what allows people to spend more they currently have/earn. This allows people to
purchase more and borrow more money than they can afford to pay back (risky). The National
Credit Act (NCA) is an Act that was enforced in order to protect consumers from over spending
and then not being able to pay back. The NCA says that credit is not to be given to any person/s
that cannot afford to pay the credit amount back. Full background checks are to be done on all
potential credit consumers, the consumers earning with be used to evaluate whether or not they
are credit worthy. If a person s earnings are too little compared to the credit amount they wish to
get then they will not be granted credit, this is done to protect the consumer. The NCA also says
that creditors will receive credit ratings. If a debtor pays their credit back regularly they will get
a good credit rating meaning they qualify to take out more credit. The more you owe the higher
your credit rating. If a debtor fails to make repayments their credit rating will drop and they will not
qualify to take out more credit until they have upped their credit rating. Thanks to Act South Africa

Essay on The Leader of the Raelians
The Raelians are a group of people that believe humans were created by aliens in a laboratory.
They also believe that the cloning of humans is possible. They believe in many unusual things
that are said to have been told to their leader, Rael, by the Elohim, which translates to, those who
came from the sky. The Raelians are a huge cult who according to RaelPress, www.raelpress.org,
as of August 2008, there were 70,000 Raelians in 97 countries. Although they aren t very popular
and talked about now, in the early 2000 s the Raelians were in the news, newspapers, blogs, etc.
They had come out and said they cloned a humanbeing.

In Matthew 17, during Jesus s transfiguration, the glory of God shined upon Jesus. The reason for
the light was because powerful searchlights from a spaceship shone onto him. Jesus s death was
only to make it known that the true origin of life is from the Elohim. Jesus was resurrected by the
creators using their advanced technology. So, the Raelians have explained most of the biggest
things that happened in the Bible happened because the Creators have such advanced technology.
According to the Creators, about 22,000 years ago aliens became very advanced and sophisticated
in their technology and understandings. They created a beast that was extremely dangerous. When
it escaped from them, it attacked and killed several of their people. The aliens then decided they
needed a new planet with which to experiment in DNA manipulations. They decided that Earth
would be good to try out new things at. While experimenting, they created human beings in their
own image. They didn t tell the humans about their technical knowledge, including how to make
their life spans longer. In this Bible, this was called the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. The
Creators believed that if the humans knew too much, the humans would become too smart and
dangerous. Known as the Serpent in the Bible, there were a group of alien creators who thought
that the humans should know as much as they could.

Black Science Film Review
Black Science review
Science fiction comic Black Science written by Rick Remender and art by Matteo Scalera, involves
an unlikely and ambitious team of that gets trapped in the infinite dimensions of the universe. The
scientists on the mission sought to better humankind but short on time, supplies, and have no idea
what the hell is going on their mission quickly becomes a game of survival. Black Science is a
thrilling comic because the thrills, rich character development, and the ongoing discussion of the
what ifs in life. Scientist Grant McKay creates a pillar that transports his team and kids into the
multi universe. Everything seems to be running smoothly but out of nowhere pillar was sabotaged;
they are forced to transport from dimension ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not only in a single panel but across the page Scalera manipulates the page art to have the reader
transported to a new galaxy. Scalera s achieves an almost 3D effect that helps the reader
comprehend the violence, fast pace and the large scale of the dimensions in the comic. Also, the
use of bright contrasting colors adds to the drama of the comic and emphasizes the graphic images
of violence. The faces of the characters are drawn in detail and are focused on facial expression,
which allow the reader to understand the characters and story better.
Black Science is an enjoyable read because the drama and thrills cease to end. Even though the
story is thrilling Rick Remender entangles the reader in the characters and the drama between them
and the art and the writing complement each other because they are both equally thrilling and
dramatic. I give Black Science a 4 out of 5 stars; the action and suspense leave you wanting to read
the whole comic in one

ECT In The Film One Flew Over The Cuckoo s N
Prior to this assignment, my feelings from electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) solely came from
images in the media. Two instances that stand out to me is the portrayal of ECT in an episode of
American Horror Story: Asylum and from the movie One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest. Although
I realize media is not an accurate representation of reality, these scenes stood out to me due to the
intense, emotional display of ECT s effects through the patient s eyes. Despite the unrealistic
depiction of ECT, one accurate aspect of the scenes is that ECT was commonly used during the
1960s 1970s to improve mental disturbances and a variety of psychological disorders. I think the
reason these scenes stood out to me was that ECT was implemented without the patient s informed
consent or agreement upon the treatment regimen, utilized as a way to subdue patients into
compliance. Contrary to modern use of ECT, this type of therapy was used as a form of
punishment, implemented... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I learned that often times, ECT is used along with a general anesthesia and a brief electrical
current initiated to trigger a brief seizure. Likewise, I realized that ECT is the preferred treatment
when other options are not as well tolerated. After becoming more familiar with the procedure, it
seems as though ECT may be a more desirable option than pharmacological interventions as drug
interventions may require more time to become effective. Sometimes when a patient s signs and
symptoms are overwhelming, interfering with their daily life, time is of the essence and ECT
provides a quicker relief for individuals with immediate risk. After several years and improvement
technology, ECT has become much safer in the past, presenting minimal possible risks memory

Five Rules For Research Paper
In 1967 when Sister Corita Kent came up with a set of ten rules or highly thoughtout life guidlines,
her intentions were not to make them set rules, but rather, suggestions open for interpertation. As I
was reading over the rules, I saw them as simple life lessons that could help me become more
succesful as a humanbeing. These rules expand past college, they take my thoughtprocess into real
life situations and how they can be used in the future to better myself. As I was going down the
list a few rules really stood out to me; both Rules two and three, Rule five, and Rule nine. These
four made me actually stop and really dig deep into researching their meaning. Both two and three
go together so I interperted them as one.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To be disciplined is to follow in a good way. To be self disciplined is to follow in a better way. I
interpereted the rule very crucially, meaning choosing the right person to follow is crucial to
your future as a human being. All it takes for your life to go downhill is following in the
footsteps of a terrible influence. Even though choosing a role model is a very smart thing to,
your own self should be the biggest inspiration in your life. You should believe in yourself before
believing in anybody else. The reason I believe this rule is so important because it stresses that
influencing yourself is far more beneficial than being influenced by others even though its ok to be
infuenced by others! And when you have been self influenced you will begin to build structure with
yourself leading to self diciplinary.
Finally Rule Nine states: Be happy whenever you can manage it. Enjoy yourself. Its lighter than
you think. This rule is my favorite because I believe its the realest rule of them all. Life is to short
to not enjoy the little things that blossum from the darkest moments. When stress levels rise you
tend to think that it is the end of the world, but even from the hardest of the hardest times if there
is a few seconds to be happy, make sure you charish that little moment. The hard times that drag
you down can be extremely dense, but the happiness that can be shed from that is so delicate and

Advocate Illinois Masonic s Life Of Rebuilding Post The...
Introduction
Advocate Illinois Masonic has a rich history in how it became the hospital it is today. Before it
was called Illinois Masonic, it was Chicago Union Hospital. The Union Hospital was organized
during the time of rebuilding post the great Chicago fire in 1901. Belden Avenue Baptist Church
Steadfast Sunday School organized the union hospital. Amongst the board members of the hospital
were some Masons who formed an association for the purpose of providing free medical and
surgical treatment for master masons, members of the Eastern Star, and members of their families.
In 1921 the Illinois Masonic Hospital Association purchased Chicago Union Hospital.
Advocate Illinois Masonic is a 408 bed Level I trauma center teaching hospital. Although the
hospital isn t attached to a university, it plays host to 200 residents and 500 students. The HIM
department rests on the first floor and basement. The department has close to 40 employees. At this
particular facility the morgue is under HIM department, which is a new trend. The HIM department

family group conference focused on face to face encounter involving offenders and their families,
the victims and their supporters, a police representative, and etc.... Most of us during the circle had
the same answers to the questions. Mainly because the information we were giving out was mostly

liked to include and that would have been the Captain Rief from the Upper Darby Police
Department. He is one of the major reason why I am going for a degree in criminal justice.
Moreover, during the reading I was thinking aren t family group conferences already included in the
public school system. But it is more focused on the punishment. If it were more focused on the
consequence and the healing these conference would have most likely prevent recidivism. I like
the line on page 260 where it says Involving community groups as part of the overall Conference

Critical Assessment of Marketing Communication Strategy

Tourism is the second largest contributor to the Indonesian economy after oil and gas (Osman,
2009). Income from tourism totaled USD6.3 billion in 2009 with 6.5 million international arrivals
and is expected to increase to USD15 billion in 2010, providing direct employment to nearly 2

that tourism has larger impact on employment and promotes trade opportunities and development

Indonesian tourism currently does not compare well with its neighbours Malaysia, Thailand and
Singapore. Not only has Indonesia to compete based on almost similar offerings, it also has to
overcome the challenges of terrorism and natural disasters, twin challenges that has several
countries issuing travel warnings against travelling there. Further inter connectivity within the
country is not fully developed. Target Markets and Segmentation As stated above, the Board has
targeted arrivals from 15 countries. It is unclear if these markets are further segmented. However,
based on the VITO websites located in those countries (where available in English), we noted that
there are attempts to focus on specific themes in the different markets. For example, the websites of
the Australian VITO are more focused on outdoor activities whilst the MiddleEast website was
more on culture and shopping. The remaining websites appear to be similar.

Aphorisms In The Film Boatlift
Supererogatory acts go above and beyond the call of duty. Epictetus reflects through many
aphorisms in The Handbook about heroism and how to tackle challenges set before you. The
documentary Boatlift depicts how many volunteers in extraordinary circumstance banded together
and went above the call of duty to rescue those in need on September 11th, 2001. Boatlift is the
story of many boating captions that couldn t stand idly by and watch their fellow man trapped in
Manhattan when the city of New York was attacked. Vincent Ardolina justifies his action with, A
person can t stand by and watch others suffer. Vincent and many others answered this self

Section forty four of Handbook centers around the superiority of one person to another, while
one may be more wealthy and able to afford more luxuries, the other may be more eloquent and
more persuasive, yet they are still identically human nonetheless. This means that superiority is
merely superficial and at the base of it we are equals. This is demonstrated no better than when
Vincent recounts the kind of passengers he had, We had housewives, workers that do windows,
we had executives and the thing that was the best, everyone helped everyone. In this time of
peril, social class, structure, and differences were dissembled and all actions were simply about
helping others. It was said that four executives passed an elderly, blind woman and her seeing eye
dog over the handrails onto the boat, which only furthers how people banded together to do what
was right. Everyone s sense of duty and morality heightened that day. Robin Jones, a deckhand,
seems hardly phased of how people worked to help each other, stating, They were just average
people, who stepped up when they needed

Cognitive Dissonance Theory Of Smoking
Growing up I was never one for exercising let only eating healthy. Bad habits don t die easily and
soon enough as I got older they took their toll on my body. As grew not only vertically but
horizontally instead of changing my habits I only continued them. I merely changed the way I
looked at the problem by embracing the love for my naturally curves instead. Despite not only the
public looking down on hefty women but with the further disapproval of my family that the
dissonance began to weigh more. Things only progressively got worst when I was medically
diagnosed with mild obesity. It was only then that the cognitive dissonancemade me begin to
change my behavior. Cognitive dissonance theory explains the contradictions we have with our
behaviors and beliefs but it can also be used to get us to have positive behaviors.
Cognitive dissonance theory was created by Leon Festinger and to better explain his theory he
used the topic of smoking. He showed how the contradiction is so clear and uncomfortable that
something has to give either the use of cigarettes of the belief that smoking will [harm] (Griffin
et al., 2015, p.201). Cognitive dissonance in a nutshell is a contradiction that causes us stress. It
is when we act in ways that go against what we believe and the strong presence we have on the
matter the greater the stress we have. Festinger (2015) describe it the distressing mental state one
feels when one finds themselves doing things that don t fit with what we believe or what the public
approves of (p.200). An extreme example of this is the high one gets from taking drugs but the
disapproval the community might have for it. With dissonance creating a stressful mental state we
naturally want to avoid it by either change our behaviors or our beliefs.
Cognitive dissonance can have either positive effects or negative ones on a person s being. In the
Glatz, Stattin, Kerr study they considered the health and behavior of parents who find their youths
drinking. Generally underage drinking is looked down upon in the community and even in the eyes
of the law but studies have shown that parents reduce control and support in response to youths
drinking (Glatz, Stattin, Kerr, 2012, p. 629). Glatz et al

Privacy In 1984 Essay
In the novel 1984, George Orwell uses imagery and word choice to demonstrate how much people
value their privacy. This is proven when the citizens learn that the Police Patrol and the government
are spying on them in their homes without them knowing. George Orwell states that he knows
there is someone snooping in his windows all the time. Night or day, it does not matter. He knows
for a fact they are watching his every move. This goes to show that the Police Patrol and
governmenthave no boundaries and do not respect their citizens privacyin any way. They are trying
to catch them doing anything they are not supposed to be doing. Everybody should feel safe when
they are in their home. No one wants to always feel like someone is constantly... Show more content

They are always paranoid they are being listened to or watched, or both. This rings true when
Google and Gmail users found out a very important thing. Google and Gmail do not give much
privacy when it comes to the popular emailing server called Gmail. Google and Gmail have been
reading into your emails for years. From an article I read, the author stated, that Google s servers
were reading all the emails received and sent by Gmail uses.. (Jacob 3). This statement is showing
how Google and Gmail can access your private and personal information without you even knowing
they are doing it, which is a very scary thing to think about. In addition to the invasion of privacy
and Gmail reading into your emails, have you ever thought about the Police Patrol and government
hiding microphones within your home, school, or work?
The uncertain tone of the novel underlines how much the government listens in to their citizens.
This is true when citizens wonder if they are being watched and also listened to at all times.
George Orwell has always been paranoid of there being microphones where ever he went. He
always talks in a whisper because he thinks the Police Patrol and government are out to get him for
something he is involved in. These thoughts that Orwell are having are scary but true. It also shows
that the Police Patrol and government are trying to catch you

Does the Canadian Charter Effectively Protect our Human...
Apart from the other laws in Canada s constitution, the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms is
an important law that affects every Canadian s rights and freedoms. It was created in 1981 by
former Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau to provide legal protection for the most important rights and
freedoms. These rights include fundamental freedoms, democratic rights, mobility rights, and legal
rights. Most but not all articles included in the Universal Declaration of Human Rightsare protected
in the constitution. However, if a Canadian feels that their rights are violated, they can challenge
laws and unfair actions using the justice system. In my opinion, I believe the Canadian Charter of
Human Rights somewhat protects Canadians rights and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To prove that the Charter protects some rights but not all, a court case that involved Dr Henry
Morgentaler and the Supreme Court of Canada was successful after trials. Before this case,
women were only allowed to have an abortion after proper certification of approval from a hospital
s Therapeutic Abortion Committee. Three doctors including Morgentaler set up an abortion clinic
that allowed women to have an abortion without a certification of approval. He was later charged
with illegal abortion under section 251 of the Criminal Code. Morgentaler argued that women had
full right on deciding whether or not they wanted an abortion. This law was struck down as
unconstitutional as it violated a woman s right according to section 7 on the Charter.
Another example to support my statement involves the case R. V. Big M Drug Mart. Before
this case, the Lord s Day Act prevented people from opening shops on Sundays because that day
was for Christian people to go to church and spend time with their family. Big M Drug Mart was
charged in Calgary for unlawfully opening their store on a Sunday. They disagreed to the Lord s
Day Act because not every Canadian citizen had to have a religion. This case was later released
and the law was struck down due to violation in section 2 in the Canadian Charter, which protected
fundamental rights.
In contrast, a case study involving Omar Khadr, the United

Credit Card Theft Is Not For Hard Working Consumers...
No matter what precautions are taken, credit and debit card fraud will remain an enemy to hard
working consumers everywhere. Credit card thieves can use a variety of methods to attack the
consumer. ATMs can be used to steal information from a debit card transaction. Online predators
can steal credit card information through a click of a button. Stores can also be targeted through the
use of data mining in the magnetic card readers. Persistent consumer vigilance is needed if credit
cardtheft is to be avoided.
ATM machines with exorbitant fees have been thought to be acting as highway robbers, now
they may even have a thieving companion; Card scanners. By stealing the information off the
credit card as it is swiped the consumer is not even aware they have been attacked. Even if the
consumer is careful to hide their hand as they enter the PIN in order to withdraw money from an
ATM, the larcenist might still have a hidden camera or card reader to steal the card information.
Erin Lowry, a content director for a popular magazine was a victim of two different attacks on
her credit identity; she had $600 stolen from her account after using a shady ATM with a hidden
scanner inside. The use of a low security ATM is a consumer error, but with everyday stresses
sometimes common sense is abandoned in place of convenience. Larcenists will place these
scanners inside ATM s located in low socioeconomic areas with the intent to instantly copy the card
numbers onto an embedded micro storage

  • 3. The War Of Rebellion And The Civil War There are many events, people, and differences that led to the civil war. The main being that the South wanted to keep on with slavery while the North did not. The civil war, also known as the War of Rebellion, began on April 12, 1861, and the last battle was on May 13, 1865. There was over three million soldiers fighting for the Confederates and the Union combined. There was around 600,000 casualties during this war, more on the Unions side. Abraham Lincolnplayed a big part in the Civil War considering that he was the president during the time of the Civil War. He was the 16th president and the first republican president. In his first inaugural speech he tried to appeal to the southern states even though seven of them had already seceded. At the end of this speech Lincoln cleverly stated , Shall it be peace, or the sword, . Lincoln made the decision to go to war with the south because he felt that when they illegally seceded from the union he needed to try to keep the union together as the president. All throughout the war Abraham made sure that they were enough weapons, that they were tested, and there were generals for the armies. Not only did Lincoln help with managing the war he also helped with the funds. In 1862 the Revenue Act was passed, this brought income tax to the United States and helped with the cost of war. In 1863 Abraham passed the Emancipation Proclamation. All though the Emancipation Proclamation was officially in effect on January 1, 1863, Lincoln ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Cloud Of Cloud Technology Cloud Technology Recipients of instantaneous access to data anywhere, anytime, at any online terminal, are known as cloud users, as the avenue for experiencing these luxuries is cloud computing. This can be achieved by using free services such as Drive offered by Google, or iCloud from Apple, or via OneDrive from Microsoft. Much like a music library on a personal computer cloud computing stores data, all the while making it accessible everywhere. Instead of having to be at a physical machine to access the data, one can place this data into a cloud that can be accessed anytime, online, when they feel like it. In essence, this technology came about when the culmination of Internet Service Providers (ISP) developed the ability to host web services and create a virtualized infrastructure (MSV, 2012, p. 5). A virtualized infrastructure better known as virtualization is where multiple servers are consolidated (MSV, 2012, p. 5). For instance, an organization can have individual servers for each of the following roles like Web Servers, Database Servers and Messaging Servers (MSV, 2012, p. 4). Instead of having a plethora of servers to handle these many different roles each server is virtualized to take on multiple roles here by the data center infrastructure can be consolidated from hundreds of servers to just tens of servers (MSV, 2012, p. 4). With the enduring legacy of Australia s history as a settler colony there was no surprise that it invested the landscape with strangeness and it became a part of the dream like world within fairy tales. According to this, the few minutes left are interpreted to be representing how the catastrophic destruction of the world is very close. Adult students often attend school only part time, as compared to the traditional full time position (Tews, 2013). Traditional students often work to flourish in the subjects regardless of their destination (Tews, 2013). Adult learners are outcome oriented, when adults do not visualize the desired result they leave school (Tews, 2013). Many traditional students have family that expects them to stay in school (Tews, 2013). As compared to the adult learner, traditional learners may not always have clear objectives in mind (Tews, 2013). Adult learners are more disposed to accepting accountability for their own learning (Tews, 2013). Critical thinking is a tool for decision making and solving problems, which is an important characteristic of a prosperous learner at a distance or traditional (Tomei, 2010). Learning outcomes in online instruction reflect both the course goals and students information technology competency (Shinkareva Benson, 2007). Everyone in the addict s immediate family is affected in one way or another. Addiction impacts a family s finances, physical health as well as psychological wellbeing. It can also cause tension, miscommunication, and more frequent arguments within a household which in turn creates an unhealthy environment for everyone involved. The addict can be very unpredictable which can cause anxiety, emotional pain, stress, and a loss of trust because that person cannot be counted on to follow through with what they say. Frequently, the people who are addicted don t even realize or believe they are causing these problems within their families. And unfortunately, they don t view themselves as sick or suffering from a problem, so they don t reach out for help. When the person finally realizes they may have a problem, they believe the solution is to escape and run away from their addiction. In Sonny s Blues, Sonny tells his brother I couldn t tell you when Mama died but the reason I wanted to leave Harlem so bad was to get away from drugs. And then, when I ran away, that s what I was running from really. (218) At this point, Sonny is telling his brother he was willing to leave his family behind to run away from his addiction. Comparing and Contrasting The Difference Between GASB and FASB By: Chris Lawson Keiser University For as long as human interactions have allowed the exchange of value between goods or services, accountancy has been the language of which business transactions are speaking (Salem, 2013). Accounting keeps track of and explains how money is used by non profit organizations, for profit businesses, governments and other individuals. Sounds simple enough right? Well, in all reality it is not that simple. Nowadays, there are many different forms of accounting let alone different set of standards that certain, and sometimes all, organizations must follow. Today there are two main standard setters in the United States that is responsible for providing up to date standards for its corresponding organizations. Although these two standards are very similar in nature, they are also very different when it comes to their own individual reporting requirements. • 21. The Cause And Effects Of Climate Change It is obvious that climate change is real, and humans are having an inordinate impact on the natural processes of the earth. This impact is leading to changes in the storm system of the Atlantic Ocean. The increase in overall global temperatures is leading to an increase in ocean surface temperatures. When looking at the process of hurricane creation, it is clear that this increase in temperature will affect the creation of tropical storms. Warmer oceans create more intense hurricanes. Also, historical records provide definitive proof of an increase in hurricane activity in the Atlantic. Over the past few centuries, increases in size, intensity and rainfall have been detected by thousands of scientists. Scientific models such as those created by the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) suggest an increase in intensity of tropical cyclones due to anthropogenic changes. These changes are detrimental to society and are a direct consequence of human induced climate change. If climate change continues to worsen, so will the intensity and effect of tropical storms. The increase in sea surface temperaturedue to human activity is unquestionably contributing to an upsurge in intensity of tropical storms and hurricanes. However, there is much more to cloning than creating an identical person from the original. A clone is defined to be a cell or organism that is genetically indistinguishable to the original cell or organism from which it is acquired (Rogers, 2015). Cloning was introduced in 1903 by Herbert J. Webber, who was an American plant scientist and used cloning in reference to plants that had been assembled through asexual propagation by horticultural methods. Plants that are propagated asexually, whether from twigs or cuttings of other parts or from bulbs or buds, are exact genetic replicas of their parent plant (Rogers, 2015). It is a small metal case that is used for handguns. An advantage of this case is that there is quick access if the lock is pushbutton. A disadvantage is that it costs more than a trigger or cable lock. The average price is anywhere from $40 to $200+. Second, a gun vault or safe comes in a variety of sizes to fit all types of guns. Some advantages are that it is difficult to steal, allows for numerous guns of different sizes, there is storage for other items and valuables, and they are usually fire safe. Some disadvantages are that it costs more than cable locks or lock boxes and they are also heavy and difficult to move. The price range is anywhere from $100 to $2000. The cable lock is a cable that is inserted into the chamber and locked (like a bike lock) to prevent a shell from being fired. Advantages are that the long cables are able to thread through several guns and they are inexpensive. Disadvantages are that the cable is thin and can be easily cut. Price ranges from free to $20+. Next the trigger lock is a two piece rigid cylinder that fits behind the trigger so it cannot move. A combination opens this lock. Performance art is commonly known as a performance presented to a viewer within a fine art context. Through performance artists emphasize the body s role in artistic production. Historically, performance archive has been characterized as an unfaithful representation of the momentary art experience. • 41. Cross Cultural Research On Emotion Expression Although the majority of cross cultural research on emotion expression has examined facial expressions as the primary indicator, evidence of cultural differences has also been found in emotion expression through non facial cues. For instance, Sauter, Eisner, Ekman, and Scott (2010) investigated whether emotions expressed through vocalization can be recognized across two disparate cultures: English and Himba (a culturally isolated Namibian group). Although their main finding focused on the universality of emotional vocalization, they found that some positive emotions were not recognized across cultures, implying that some vocalizations used to express emotions may be culturally specific. Regarding this result, Sauter (2010) has conducted subsequent research focusing on cultural specificity. She revealed that English participants paired smiling faces with vocalizations of amusement and achievement; on the other hand, Himba participants paired the smiling faces only with vocalizations of amusement. This result indicates that people from different cultures may use different vocalizations to express emotions and interpret them in different ways. In addition, there is evidence of cultural difference in bodily expressions of emotion. Kleinsmith, De Silva, and Bianchi Berthouze (2006) concluded in their study that the Japanese tend to be less animated in bodily expressions of emotion, compared to Americans or Sri Lankans. Despite the unrealistic depiction of ECT, one accurate aspect of the scenes is that ECT was commonly used during the 1960s 1970s to improve mental disturbances and a variety of psychological disorders. Vincent Ardolina justifies his action with, A person can t stand by and watch others suffer. Vincent and many others answered this self proclaimed call of duty fully knowing that there are untold risks they were taking. Although... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Section forty four of Handbook centers around the superiority of one person to another, while one may be more wealthy and able to afford more luxuries, the other may be more eloquent and more persuasive, yet they are still identically human nonetheless. This means that superiority is merely superficial and at the base of it we are equals. This is demonstrated no better than when Vincent recounts the kind of passengers he had, We had housewives, workers that do windows, we had executives and the thing that was the best, everyone helped everyone. In this time of peril, social class, structure, and differences were dissembled and all actions were simply about helping others. It was said that four executives passed an elderly, blind woman and her seeing eye dog over the handrails onto the boat, which only furthers how people banded together to do what was right. Everyone s sense of duty and morality heightened that day. Robin Jones, a deckhand, seems hardly phased of how people worked to help each other, stating, They were just average people, who stepped up when they needed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 54. Cognitive Dissonance Theory Of Smoking Growing up I was never one for exercising let only eating healthy. Bad habits don t die easily and soon enough as I got older they took their toll on my body. As grew not only vertically but horizontally instead of changing my habits I only continued them. I merely changed the way I looked at the problem by embracing the love for my naturally curves instead. Despite not only the public looking down on hefty women but with the further disapproval of my family that the dissonance began to weigh more. Things only progressively got worst when I was medically diagnosed with mild obesity. It was only then that the cognitive dissonancemade me begin to change my behavior. Cognitive dissonance theory explains the contradictions we have with our behaviors and beliefs but it can also be used to get us to have positive behaviors. Cognitive dissonance theory was created by Leon Festinger and to better explain his theory he used the topic of smoking. He showed how the contradiction is so clear and uncomfortable that something has to give either the use of cigarettes of the belief that smoking will [harm] (Griffin et al., 2015, p.201). Cognitive dissonance in a nutshell is a contradiction that causes us stress. It is when we act in ways that go against what we believe and the strong presence we have on the matter the greater the stress we have. Festinger (2015) describe it the distressing mental state one feels when one finds themselves doing things that don t fit with what we believe or what the public approves of (p.200). An extreme example of this is the high one gets from taking drugs but the disapproval the community might have for it. With dissonance creating a stressful mental state we naturally want to avoid it by either change our behaviors or our beliefs. Cognitive dissonance can have either positive effects or negative ones on a person s being. In the Glatz, Stattin, Kerr study they considered the health and behavior of parents who find their youths drinking. Generally underage drinking is looked down upon in the community and even in the eyes of the law but studies have shown that parents reduce control and support in response to youths drinking (Glatz, Stattin, Kerr, 2012, p. 629). • 55. Privacy In 1984 Essay In the novel 1984, George Orwell uses imagery and word choice to demonstrate how much people value their privacy. This is proven when the citizens learn that the Police Patrol and the government are spying on them in their homes without them knowing. George Orwell states that he knows there is someone snooping in his windows all the time. Night or day, it does not matter. He knows for a fact they are watching his every move. This goes to show that the Police Patrol and governmenthave no boundaries and do not respect their citizens privacyin any way. They are trying to catch them doing anything they are not supposed to be doing. Everybody should feel safe when they are in their home. No one wants to always feel like someone is constantly... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They are always paranoid they are being listened to or watched, or both. This rings true when Google and Gmail users found out a very important thing. Google and Gmail do not give much privacy when it comes to the popular emailing server called Gmail. Google and Gmail have been reading into your emails for years. From an article I read, the author stated, that Google s servers were reading all the emails received and sent by Gmail uses.. (Jacob 3). This statement is showing how Google and Gmail can access your private and personal information without you even knowing they are doing it, which is a very scary thing to think about. In addition to the invasion of privacy and Gmail reading into your emails, have you ever thought about the Police Patrol and government hiding microphones within your home, school, or work? The uncertain tone of the novel underlines how much the government listens in to their citizens. This is true when citizens wonder if they are being watched and also listened to at all times. George Orwell has always been paranoid of there being microphones where ever he went. He always talks in a whisper because he thinks the Police Patrol and government are out to get him for something he is involved in. These thoughts that Orwell are having are scary but true. It also shows that the Police Patrol and government are trying to catch you ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 56. Does the Canadian Charter Effectively Protect our Human... Apart from the other laws in Canada s constitution, the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms is an important law that affects every Canadian s rights and freedoms. It was created in 1981 by former Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau to provide legal protection for the most important rights and freedoms. These rights include fundamental freedoms, democratic rights, mobility rights, and legal rights. Most but not all articles included in the Universal Declaration of Human Rightsare protected in the constitution. However, if a Canadian feels that their rights are violated, they can challenge laws and unfair actions using the justice system. In my opinion, I believe the Canadian Charter of Human Rights somewhat protects Canadians rights and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To prove that the Charter protects some rights but not all, a court case that involved Dr Henry Morgentaler and the Supreme Court of Canada was successful after trials. Before this case, women were only allowed to have an abortion after proper certification of approval from a hospital s Therapeutic Abortion Committee. Three doctors including Morgentaler set up an abortion clinic that allowed women to have an abortion without a certification of approval. He was later charged with illegal abortion under section 251 of the Criminal Code. Morgentaler argued that women had full right on deciding whether or not they wanted an abortion. This law was struck down as unconstitutional as it violated a woman s right according to section 7 on the Charter. Another example to support my statement involves the case R. V. Big M Drug Mart. Before this case, the Lord s Day Act prevented people from opening shops on Sundays because that day was for Christian people to go to church and spend time with their family. Big M Drug Mart was charged in Calgary for unlawfully opening their store on a Sunday. They disagreed to the Lord s Day Act because not every Canadian citizen had to have a religion. This case was later released and the law was struck down due to violation in section 2 in the Canadian Charter, which protected fundamental rights. In contrast, a case study involving Omar Khadr, the United ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 57. Credit Card Theft Is Not For Hard Working Consumers... No matter what precautions are taken, credit and debit card fraud will remain an enemy to hard working consumers everywhere. Credit card thieves can use a variety of methods to attack the consumer. ATMs can be used to steal information from a debit card transaction. Online predators can steal credit card information through a click of a button. Stores can also be targeted through the use of data mining in the magnetic card readers. Persistent consumer vigilance is needed if credit cardtheft is to be avoided. ATM machines with exorbitant fees have been thought to be acting as highway robbers, now they may even have a thieving companion; Card scanners. By stealing the information off the credit card as it is swiped the consumer is not even aware they have been attacked. Even if the consumer is careful to hide their hand as they enter the PIN in order to withdraw money from an ATM, the larcenist might still have a hidden camera or card reader to steal the card information. Erin Lowry, a content director for a popular magazine was a victim of two different attacks on her credit identity; she had $600 stolen from her account after using a shady ATM with a hidden scanner inside. The use of a low security ATM is a consumer error, but with everyday stresses sometimes common sense is abandoned in place of convenience. Larcenists will place these scanners inside ATM s located in low socioeconomic areas with the intent to instantly copy the card numbers onto an embedded micro storage ...
