its own grammatical syntax, phonology, and morphology, but also in its compliance
to the Sapir Whorf hypothesis. Created by Edward Sapir and Benjamin Lee Whorf,
the hypothesis exists in two degrees: weak and strong. The former claims that
language shapes our thoughts, and thus our culture, while the latter version claims
that language not only shapes our thoughts and our culture, it creates them. Though

undoubtable that it is applicable to Deaf culture and its use of ASL as a first language

Interviewing an expert skier on her personal experiences
Staring down the face of an icy mountain, Anjanette Grant straps on her skis and takes
to the slope.
Grant has been skiing these mountainous feats since she was eight years old and she
is still into the sport today. As a child, her mother took her to Boston Mills in the
Cleveland area. This is where she learned to ski, and though it was difficult at first,
she has excelled to a mastery level today.
When asked about the feelings she experiences while preparing to ski, Grant stated, I
feel excited to hit the slopes and cut some powder.
Grant goes skiing with her family every Martin Luther King and President s Day
weekend. However, it is not only for the thrill that she enjoys skiing. She also enjoys
the family aspect.

My scariest experience that I had while skiing was when my daughter took off
through the trees. My husband and I were yelling for her to stop but she was flying
downhill. We skied off after her but she was going too fast. After an intense five
minute chase, she eventually heard our screams and turned around. She looked
really confused as to why we were yelling at heroine, as if she didn t almost give us
both a heart attack.
Despite the risks, Grant still enjoys skiing to this day. She recommends Holiday
Valley in New York. She states that after skiing, Holiday Valley also has a night life.
Her family always goes to a restaurant called the Gin Mill , and eats chicken wings,
chili, and carrots with bleu cheese.

everyone s ears to hear. The attendees were all dancing in their fancy apparel, but
one particular couple outshined them all. At the clock s chimes, out dashed the fair
maiden only to be followed by her future spouse. One item is left behind, leaving the
gentleman in search of his one and only true love. Sounds familiar? This is the tale
of Cinderella. Various movies from 1950 s until now has deeply incorporated this
theme to fit more modern situations, many items take into effect such as; the
narrative, cinematography, mise en scene, sound, editing and overall theme.

At the dance, she was supposed to meet her mysterious pen pal who was none other
than Austin Ames, the most popular guy at school. Like Cinderella, she went in
secret behind her stepmom s back. Upon leaving the dance, she drops her
cellphone and Austin picks it up and is in search of his Cinderella. Mise en scene
is used often in this movie to portray irony. One scene has Sam picking up her best
friend, and his Dad is polishing his car from hood to trunk. This specific car is his
most prized possession and the director made it clear by showing him on his knees
with a rag. Later on, his very own son, wrecks the car. Along with mise en scene,
editing is important to this movie. Sam had to beat the clock and her stepmom to the
diner. The editing in between the two vehicles increase the drama about who will
arrive first.
Along with the concept of Cinderella, the movie Cinderfella establishes this theme
in a little different way that changes the dynamic of what makes up a Cinderella
movie. Most of the gender roles are reversed and a guy named Fella is left with his
stepmom and two wicked stepbrothers, Maximillian and Rubert. To gain more
money, the stepmother throws a ball to honor a Princess, so she can marry one of
