June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

The country of Somalia possesses a dynamic culture. The diverse history, trends of
the people, and economics of the country have gone through many changes. Today,
Somalia continues to grow and adapt in the global economy. Origin: It is unclear
exactly when people began living here but archeological studies have found cave
paintings and cemeteries which place inhabitants there as early as the Paleolithic
era. One cave painting in particular, said to be the oldest rock art on the African
continent, is dated around 9000 BC. The people of Somalia are mainly nomadic and
comprised of clans. In its early years, Muslims avoiding religious persecution settled
Somalia. These groups moved from the Middle East across the Red Sea into the

The country has an area of 246,201 square miles. The coastline of Somalia
measures 1,880 miles. This is the longest coastline of all African countries. Somalia
shares its northwest border with Djibouti, its western border is with Ethiopia, and
Kenya borders Somalia in the south. Terrain: The terrain of Somalia is mainly plains
and plateaus. The north is mostly flat and desert. The northeast contains the Cal
Madow mountain range. Shimbir Berris is in this range and is the countries tallest
peak at 7, 927 feet. The Karkaar Mountains are centrally located. Below these
mountains the country turns into plateaus and grassland. Somalia has two main
rivers located in the southwest. These rivers begin in Ethiopia and run south through
Somalia. The Jubba River has permanent water flow but the Shabeelle River only
flows for around seven months a year. Climate: Somalia possesses a dominantly arid
climate. Temperatures are usually between 80 to 110 degrees Fahrenheit. Rainfall is
different for separate regions in the country. The rainy season is between April to
June and October to December. The northeast usually only gets around four inches or
rain, the central areas receive around eight to twelve inches, while the northwestern
and southwestern regions can receive twenty to twenty four inches of rain.
Occasionally monsoon winds will accompany the rainfall but for the rest of the year

If you are looking for top quality pet foods, and specifically dry pet foods, Actually
hypoallergenic dog meals solves many problems if you are searching for a very high
quality food.
The next item which should obtain your full attention may be the preservatives or
insufficient preservatives that are used. The manufacturing procedure for dry dog
meals in particular needs baking at high temps.
The very best dog foods usually do not use corn, They are all regarded as filler items
that are accustomed to bulk up the meals. They are also designed to make the dog
feel full and yet they lack essential nutrients and vitamins.
The ultimate final result of consuming these could possibly be the advancement of
food allergies and other illnesses.
4. Female Sexuality Throughout Shakespeare s Hamlet
Hamlet, a tragic play written by Shakespeare in the 1600s, portrays the struggle of
young Hamlet in the face of avenging his father s death. While major themes
throughout this tragedy include death, loss, madness, revenge, and morality, another
important theme to include in discussion is the theme of womanhood. The only two
female characters in a cast of thirty five include Queen Gertrudeand Ophelia, both of
whom die unfortunate deaths. The importance of womanhood and female sexuality is
shown through several literary techniques; though, most importantly, the characters
Queen Gertrude and Ophelia are both symbols for female sexuality. Both characters
are developed as negative and positive sides to womanhood through dialogue as other
characters approach them, their own actions, and most importantly, their individual
deaths. Queen Gertrude is the mother to Hamlet, widow to the late King, and new
wife to King Claudius as shown within the first act of Hamlet. Following her
marriage to King Claudius, her relationship with her son Hamlet becomes strained.
Queen Gertrude symbolizes much of what is considered to be a negative aspect of
womanhood. To Hamlet, Queen Gertrude is a failure of a woman. Through his
dialogue, it is presented that Hamlet desires a woman and mother to be concerned
for her family and place tradition above all else. When Hamlet s mother makes a
decision outside of that realm and marries King Claudius, Hamlet strives to berate her
for her choices. Through
5. Five Teaching Methods And Approaches
TEACHING METHODS OR APPROACHES.
Choosing suitable methods to help learner s master learning content has for a long
time been a main area of contention in the field of teaching.
There are two approaches to teaching: the teacher directed approach as well as the
learner centred approach.
The teacher directed approach is based on reception learning, which means that the
content to be learnt is presented to the learner in its final form.
The learner centred approach means that the material to be learnt is not given but
must be discovered by the learner with help of a teacher.
Five teaching methods/approaches.
1.Telling Method
i.Telling method can be described as structured teacher talk aimed at clarifying
concepts so that learners are able to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This method is time wasting. ii. Clever or gifted learners will lose interest as a
teacher will busy demonstrating the very same thing the whole period.
4.Questioning Method
i.It is an approach towards most teaching learning situations. ii. Learners bring their
knowledge and experiences to class, then a teacher will try to link this knowledge
from learners to new information he is about to present o a class. iii. Questions may
also be used to gather the attention of learners to what a teacher is presenting and
also towards achievement of learning outcomes. iv. A teacher will use question to test
if learners are still listening or to avid misinterpretation or to help those learners who
are still left behind.
v.Again, questions can help a teacher if he wants to stress one or two points. vi. The
question answer method is very demanding for both the teacher and learners. The
teacher must prepare the lesson thoroughly because the answer he may get from
learners may be unpredictable.
Advantages of Questioning Method
i.They assess learners understanding. ii. To develop learners skills such as critical
thinking, communication, listening skill and cooperation with other learners.
Disadvantages of Questioning

7. Creation Myth, Myths And Beliefs Of Creation Traditions
All throughout ancient cultures, there are stories, legends, and myths. Many of these
cultures share similarities within their origin explanations. The recurrences of these
stories are called motifs. From great floods to benevolent creators, all creation myths
share similarities within at least one other myth, whether it be Babylonian,Christian,
Greek, or Cheyenne. There can always be a motif found in any creation myth; the
most popular of which include man being created from organic materials, the creator
breathing life into the creation(man), and the earth and sky forming from the body of
the creator(s).
Man being created from organic materials One of the most commonly known creation
myths is about the Christian/Hebrew creation of man. In this myth, the first man is
made from organic materials and the first woman is made from a rib taken from the
first man. Ancient cultures realized that they were made from the same things as the
environment around them, so it would only make sense for their creation myth to
involve man being made from all sorts of organic materials. This inclusion of this
motif shows that ancient cultures had at least a basic understanding of the elements
and what makes up everything on the earth. In the Cheyenne creation myth, Maheo
also uses one of his ribs to create the first human. Humans are respectively made from
dirt clods, rocks, clay, demon bones, trees, mud, stone, white corn, pea pods, and tears
throughout various creation myths. Every

The high positive score of F might be originated from dissolution of fluro pyrites,
fluorite, various silicate bearing minerals. However, the agricultural fertilizer is
also the source of F in the groundwater (Hem, 1991). Furthermore, F indicated
moderate positive correlation with HCO3 . This correlation demonstrated that both
F and HCO3 are believed to be geogenic source rather than anthropogenic activities.
The PC4 denoted 13.57 % of total variance in groundwater quality with strong
positive loading on pH, I and HCO3 , showing the alkalinity controlled process in
groundwater. The high value of pH may have led to be dissolution of carbonate and
hydroxide mineral in groundwater. The elevated value of HCO3 in the groundwater
indicates intense mineral weathering, which favors a mineral dissolution (Stumm and
Morgan, 1996). In addition to this, high HCO3 value may be caused by long term
irrigation practices in the study area that circulate the water in the soil/weathered
zone. The PC5 accounted for 12.16 % of variance in groundwater quality. A high
positive loading was depicted on Na+ and SO42 in S 14, S 16 and S19 20 sample
locations. The high values of Na+, SO42 ions are mainly anthropogenic sources like
as the domestic wastes, leakage of septic tanks and agro chemicals (Todd, 1980;

11. Friedrich Nietzsche s Philosophy And Ethics
The Antichrist
Samuel Edwards
Central Christian College
May 6, 2016 Abstract: Friedrich Nietzsche devoted his life to the study of philosophy
and ethics. In particular to topics regarding Christianity and Atheism. A majority of
his writings are against Christianity and The Antichrist is no different. The following
paper will look into what Nietzsche wrote in The Antichrist and explore the ethical
principles that he proposes and dismisses in this writing. The Antichrist is a collection
of Friedrich Nietzsche writings that were put together by his niece shortly after his
death. She wrote an opening preface before his collection of writings that explain her
desire for publishing the writings and defending his standpoint. In her opening
statements, which were approximately 20% of the entire book, she made some
claims about Nietzsche, his writings, and his beliefs. She states that Nietzsche
...intended to attack Christianity headlong and with all arms... and that All his wrath...
was reserved for St. Paul and his like, who perverted the Beatitudes which Christ
intended for the lowly only. Despite saying this Nietzsche staid that he never set out
to destroy Christianity all together, so that the lowly and unintelligent would still
have an outlet. But to destroy Christianity for the intellectuals and the scholars. Oddly
enough he set out to ...make Paul the villain, and Jesus a bystander. ( After the
introduction by his niece a collection of 62 essays are arranged
12. Comparing Nozick s Experience Machine And The Matrix
In this essay I shall discuss how the film, The Matrix (1999), engages in a form of
cinematic philosophy. Specifically, I will discuss how the film can be seen as
making an objection to the position held by Sidgwick (1907), who asserts that,
positive states of consciousness, or, pleasure, is ultimately the only thing inherently
valuable, which in turn becomes the basis of his utilitarian ethics. In doing so, I
consider The Matrixto be a cinematic adaptation of Robert Nozick s (1974)
experience machine thought experiment, which the filmmakers bring to life,
developing it into a narrative that pulls heavily on our moral emotions. However,
although the film makers skilfully elicit the appropriate emotional responses from
viewers, ensuring... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, the specific differences can be explained when we consider the
needs of a narrative in order for it to be successful (Carroll 1996). In Nozick s
original thought experiment, we are asked to imagine being presented with the
experience machine while we are in the midst of a life in the real world, with
entrance into the experience machine being entirely voluntary, where we will not
be used by others for their own purposes (Nozick 1974: 43). Whereas, in The
Matrix, individuals are born into the Matrix with the truth of the real world kept
from them, and there they are used as mere means for the ends of the machine
rulers. In Nozick s construction, the fact that we are already living life in the real
world when asked to consider plugging in , even if it leads to an existence filled
with pleasure, works to activate aspects of our psychology which skews our
responses in favour of his argument (Lazari Radek Singer 2014: 258). Specifically,
we are prone to status quo bias, where it has been shown that people have a
preference to stay in their current situation when faced with the prospect of change
(De Brigard 2010). And, loss aversion , where individuals have a tendency to be
unwilling to give up what they already have, even if what they can get offers greater
benefits (Kahneman Tversky 2000: 163). Moreover, when researchers modify the
thought experiment to allow for these psychological factors, they end up with results
that conflict with Nozick s judgement, thereby undermining his position (Lazari
Radek Singer 2014: 257 259). Thus, although people might intuitively agree with
Nozick, it is not because they so strongly value life in reality over pleasure. Instead,
their answers are heavily influenced by
13. What Are The Positive And Negative Effects Of Body Image
When looking in the mirror, beauty is not always seen. Sometimes it s the amount
of fat seen on the body and how it is not supposed to be there. Society says that
having a skinny body is perfect, but in all actuality, being skinny is not being
perfect, it is being just like everyone else. When having a body with curves or a little
bit more meat on their bones, people do not recognize that with body imagecomes
both positive and negative effects. For example, there are psychological,
interpersonal style, anorexia nervosa, and bulimia effects that could come out of
body image. Most people just focus on the fact that being skinny is going to make
it all worth it, but in all honesty, perfection means having all the required or
desirable elements, qualities, or characteristic; as good as it is possible to be. The
pressure of body image can cause damage to those who are forced to follow by its
guidelines. There are both positive and negative points to body image. Positive
body images is accepting one s body and looks (Ahmet, Ahmet 171). For example,
there could be a girl wo may not look appealing to other people, but to herself she
may think she is very appealing. Negative body image causes a dissatisfaction of
their body and fear of romantic intimacy (Ahmet, Ahmet 171). For example, a girl
may believe she is the ugliest person on the planet and she cannot have intimate
relations with anyone because she feels they will not find her body attractive. A lot
of body image stems from

Robots, like any computer controlled machine, can be programmed in their

concepts such as kinematics, which lie outside most architects domain of expertise.
To address this problem, the custom robotprogramming library YOUR, which aims at
making robot control intuitively accessible to students, has been implemented. Based
on this, a toolkit of visual programming components for GrasshopperTM, allowing
students to directly assemble graphical components for the control of their robotic
fabrication sequences, was developed. The technologies for controlling robot arms

Robotic fabrication and computational design augment each other in several ways. In
addition to the direct materialization of digitally conceived designs, the physical
working model provides students with a differentiated and sensual feedback on their
design, whereby they can immediately engage with its constructive and structural
aspects. As part of an iterative process, these insights can then be re integrated into
the computational design strategy.
Architectural design practice will be increasingly mediated by digital technology in
the future. Digital fabrication technology allows architects to conceive designs both
digitally and physically, and may empower them to take a more active role in the
materialization and construction process.

21. Sacrificial Reinforcement In Behaviour
Efficacy of behaviour modification plans and differential reinforcement in behaviour
Behaviour modification (BM) plans rely on the individual s commitment to alter
their own behaviour through achievable milestones and reinforcement. It was
mainly used by therapists in the late 1970s early 1980s, with success in areas that
depended on the reinforcer. Recently, BM plans have been utilised to combat
widespread negative behaviours such as procrastination which is defined as any
aversive behaviour that can be caused by poor self regulation and underestimation of
tasks (Steel, 2007). Whilst a little is perfectly normal in life, those who seek
immediate satisfaction more regularly than others begin to display a pattern of self
harming behaviour that becomes detrimental in the long run. On the other hand,
study behaviour is defined as any behaviour that promotes learning without
distractions and avoiding tasks (Loftin et al. 2005). Recently, researchers looked at
Facebook use as a cause of procrastinate behaviour and found that people who use

cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) is an effective way to reduce procrastination
(Rozental Carlbring, 2013), so this study hopes that BM plans are similarly effective
especially when reinforcers and punishers are contingent and valuable. It s important
that rewards are of some importance to the individual so that reinforcers can act as
discriminating stimulus. E.g. money isn t a good reinforcer because it s worth

Lottery by Shirley Jackson is an essential literary mechanism, when comparing
these two stories. The short story A Rose for Emily is in the first person
perspective of a town as they both discovered Emily s, an elder of the town,
mysterious and dark secret. In contrast, I will compare the story of A Rose for Emily
with another short storyThe Lottery. The short story The Lottery is told in objective
third person depicting a town holding a mysterious lottery and quickly discovering
the dark purpose behind it and what awaits the winner. With a gothic like horror, I
found the point of view of these two stories to depict their climaxes in a shocking,
but also almost mundane way. Painting the world with a dark palette steeped in
death and an adverse to change, I found these stories to be dark but also
enlightening. Faulkner and Jackson use of point of view dramatically affect how I
saw the use of chronology, how one interpreted author s intent, and the theme of
death in their two stories and how they differed. The point of view depict dark and
terrifying in almost mundane ways creating power and impactful stories individually,
but these stories can be even more powerful when read side by side.
The use of time is intimately tied to the points of view of the stories A Rose for
Emily and The Lottery. For Example, in A Rose for Emily the narrator is the town
recalling the time they were defeated 30 years before (Faulkner 2). This is just one
of many time jumps that shows how the town sees Emily as she digresses more
and more, SHE WAS SICK for a long time. When we saw her again (Faulkner 4).
These time jumps depict the disjointed memories of a town struggling to make
sense of the events leading up to discovering the body of Homer Barron in Emily s
upper room (Faulkner 7). Without this first person point of view of the town
recalling more and more with each time jump, I feel this story s ending would have
evoked amount of empathy towards the town. The Lottery however, is told very
differently. The point of view and order The Lottery is told in it feels like one whole
camera shot. The third person objective telling of

Voluntourism is a form of tourism, which travelers do voluntary work for a charity.
Voluntourism, which has become more popular in the recent past, started with good
intentions of white westerners spreading their knowledge and resources. Some forms
of voluntourism have helped communities, but not in orphanages. The good idea has
transformed into a conscious clearing photo op that s permanently affecting orphans
and people in the international orphanagecommunity. Voluntourism is glamorizing
orphanages making them appear better than lives at home, causing parents to
surrender their parental rights in order to give them a better life. The unthought of
repercussions of orphanage voluntourism is affecting orphans and orphanage culture

To solve this issue, we need to protect the orphans. We need to stop letting orphanages
be treated like daycare, need better background checks and training for volunteers,
and stop letting inhumane behaviors happen in our orphanages. Orphanages need
more funding, better trained volunteers and better resources. Orphans have been
through alot and are resilient, but we need to protect orphans around the world,
giving them the closest thing we can to their families. With good volunteers, we can
change these kids lives and get them into the lives they deserve. Children are
amazingly resilient... we find that if we get them out of institutions and into loving
families early on, they recover their developmental delays and go on to lead normal
happy lives.

26. Piaget s Cognitive Development Theory
According to Piaget (1957), cognitive development was a continuous restructuring of
mental processes due to varied situations and experiencing the world and maturing
biologically. His view of cognitive development would have us look inside a child s
head and glimpse the inborn process of change that thinking goes through. He was
mainly interested in the biological influences on how we come to know (Huitt and
Hummel, 2003). Piaget s views helps us to have appropriate expectations about
children s mental abilities during different periods of development, especially in
terms of logical mathematical intelligence, and that it was our ability as humans to
think abstractly that differentiated us (Science and Cognitive Development). There
are three elements of Piaget s cognitive development theory: schemas, the adaptation
process and stages of development. Schemas are basically mental templates of
knowledge that individuals use to help make sense of the world around them. The
adaptation process which allows for the transition from one stage to another,
including assimilation, accommodation and equilibrium and the stages of
development in which each child must pass through.
Vygotsky s ideas about how mental abilities develop, on the other hand, show us how
important and necessary the social and cultural context are to developing each child s
mental abilities. Lev Vygotsky(1978) strongly believed that community plays a
central role in the process of making meaning. He and

Comparing Cyrano de Bergerac and the Movie, Roxanne
Isn t it easier to accept the idea that a main character would be engaged in a fist
fight, rather than a sword fight? Aren t fire fighters, as characters, more believable
than a bunch of olden day French cadets? I certainly think so. To me it is just more
real to have the setting of a story in modern times and in the United States. Rostand s
Cyrano De Bergerac is written about a time that no one alive now has experienced.
There is the same plot idea that an ugly man wants the pretty girl, but she is too busy
being infatuated with the pretty boy to notice the intellect of the man she truly
comes to love. Steve Martin s Roxanne and Rostand s Cyrano De Bergerac are

Rostand?s Roxanne has. Le Bret and Raganeau morphed into the more modern

letter Charlie wrote. She slyly put Charlie?s name on the back so that Roxanne would
finally figure out it was Charlie, not Chris, who is an intellectual mastermind. Giving
the characters and setting a modern angle helps the present society relate to the
masterpiece by Rostand.
Is the tragedy lost, or is it just more believable? One of the most profound changes
is the difference in what happens after Chris, or Christian, joyfully rushes to
Roxanne?s room after the balcony scene. In the original, Cyrano keeps his word to
help Christian and distracts De Guiche from interrupting what is going on in the
house. In the modern version, though, Charlie sends the old ladies to walk in on

someone else steals the love away. They would seize the opportunity to stop anything
going on between them. The second change is the fact that

It s clean and sustainable. In order to find geothermal energy, it is available near
geological hot spots. These hot spots are an area in the mantle from which heat
rises as a thermal plume from deep in the Earth. Under these spots, a molten
material called magma is underneath the crust of the Earth and penetrates it.
Magma can cause and therefore turn into steam or hot water. People collect this
steam or water by putting steel pipes in the hotspot and then connect the pipe to a
power plant on the surface. So, the power plant uses the steam or water into using
it to make a steam turbine move ( Geothermal Energy Basics 2017). The steam or
water turns into a vapor and then pushes the steam turbine in order to collect the
warm energy. Some pros to using geothermal energy is that since its source is the
almost unlimited amount of heat generated by the Earth s core, it will never run
out. Another pro is that it can create jobs because someone is going to have to
work in the power plants. And that using geothermal energy is very efficient (300
500% compared to 90% of the best furnaces) (Michaelides 2017). But, there are also
cons. One con is that in order to get the steel pipes to suck up the heat, it uses energy
in the process. Also, in a bad scenario, geothermal power plants can cause
earthquakes. In order for countries to use geothermal energy, they must have money
to build several power plants, and must utilize any hot
33. Archetypes In Winnie The Pooh
Winnie the Pooh by A.A Milne presents its readers with a multitude of archetypes.
One such archetype is Owl, who perhaps would be considered the smartest resident
of One Hundred Acre Wood. In most fictional stories, the Owl is considered to be
an knowledgeable character and such is the case in the adventures of Winnie the
Pooh. Owl displays signs of intelligence when he is often asked to spell different
words or asked for advice by our fellow characters. However, it is important to note

inability to actually spell and read correctly often indicates signs of his flawed
intelligence and sign of dyslexia. At times, owl tends to be absent minded, often

would consider myself to be Pooh outside of school because of my innocent nature
and my gluttony as well. Like all students know, Pooh is obsessed with honey and
can go to any extent to receive the yellow, thick, golden stuff. Similarly, I am
greedy for food and often times I eat more than my diet requires. For instance, I eat
about five times a day indicating my gluttony. Similar to Pooh, I often act as the
silly bear at home rather than an owl. This is perhaps the case because I have no

my mother would be considered the Christopher Robin, who is the mentor for

Dwelling in a capitalist s society the mass media has become apart of culture. With

current events. However, even magazines are swayed by advertisers and their

Vermeer was a master painter of the Dutch Golden Age and was characterized by his

Wages may be too high because of minimum wage laws or union activity. Consistent
with classical unemployment, frictional unemployment occurs when appropriate job
vacancies exist for a worker, but the length of time needed to search for and find the
job leads to a period of unemployment.[5] Structural unemployment covers a variety
of possible causes of unemployment including a mismatch between workers skills
and the skills required for open jobs.[6] Large amounts of structural unemployment
can occur when an economy is transitioning industries and workers find their previous
set of skills are no longer in demand. Structural unemployment is similar to frictional
unemployment since both reflect the problem of matching workers with job
vacancies, but structural unemployment covers the time needed to acquire new skills
not just the short term search process.[7] While some types of unemployment may
occur regardless of the condition of the economy, cyclical unemployment occurs
when growth stagnates. Okun s law represents the empirical relationship between
unemployment and economic growth.[8] The original version of Okun s law states
that a 3% increase in output would lead to a 1% decrease in unemployment.[9]

39. Essay about Identification
Identification
The identification process is perhaps the biggest problem in gifted education. In the
United States, it is estimated that 47,846,000 children are enrolled in K 12 public
schools. Of these students, approximately 2,393,000, or five percent, are considered
gifted (Genius Denied, 2005). Developing procedures to identify these exceptional
students can be an arduous task. However, Coleman has stated that, Identification
remains critical to ensuring that children receive the services they need to thrive in
school (2003, 1). There are several problems educators deal with when identifying
gifted students. First, students from economically disadvantaged families or from
culturally diverse backgrounds are considerably ... Show more content on

There are several negative consequences involved when gifted students are not
properly identified or treated. The student will learn at too slow a pace in the regular
classroom, resulting in boredom and frustration. Some students who are not identified
may even become completely disinterested and drop out. Eventually, those students
who remain in school at this slow pace will begin to realize that they can succeed
without putting forth much effort. As a result, the students will develop poor study
habits and a smaller attention span. By the time this student enters college, he/she
does much poorly than the average student because he/she never learned how to
properly study (Southern Jones, 1991).
Educators should be aware of several general characteristics of gifted and talented
students, which are outlined on geniusdenied.org (2005). Although gifted students
can come from all ethnic and socioeconomic groups, they all have things in common.
Exceptional students think and learn more rapidly than normal students, and in
unusual ways. They are more able to think deeply or abstractly about what they learn.
They are in constant need of mental stimulation, and generally have the ability to
form patterns and connections easily. Most gifted students are precocious in a
particular area, such as math or English, while some children are talented in a wide
array of subjects.

any of these sins, you are doomed to hell and and an agonizing death. While most
religious people avoid the sins like the plague and see most people as good

This is useful in Se7en because the main topic surrounding the murders is religion.
Writers of the film used the serial killer genre because it s easy to grab people s
attention and convey the message that the world is a cruel place with many issues. If
the movie weren t sheltered with a simple slasher flick cover, it would instantly
become contentious, and many wouldn t want to squabble with a movie telling the
viewer about how religion isn t perfect.
Among other options, the debate of how Se7en is representation of violence in
practicing religion changes how many people alter their views of what is right and
wrong. Most people overlook the wrongdoings of the world and turn the other
cheek. In the film, the killer John Doe sees himself as a good person performing
God s work for him by acting on his feelings and not turning the other cheek. This
suggests that killing people because they re doing God s work is okay because
they have religion to blame for their reasoning. One of John Doe s final speeches is
him trying to justify why he went on a killing spree, and he justifies his actions by
saying,
Only in a world this shitty could you even try to say these were innocent people and
keep a straight face. But that s the point. We see a deadly sin on every street corner, in
every home, and we tolerate it. We tolerate it because it s common, it

those types of snacks hardly constitute a healthy diet, and many people realize this.

Women

Nineteenth century caused an abundance of females to communicate their ideas
through writing. Catharine Maria Sedgwick was among the first of American authors
to publish historical and other fiction. Much of her work deals with the role of white
women in society, especially involving the Cult of Domesticity or True Womanhood.

Writers on religion tended to treat piety as a medicine for the wants of women,
teaching them it was better to pray than to think.
Purity was no less important than piety. Women were warned men would try to steal
their purity, but they must be strong and resist the temptation. Thomas Branagan
threatened women a horrible fate if they did not remain pure in the 1808 publication,
The Excellency of the Female Character Vindicated, You will be left in silent sadness
to bewail your credulity, imbecility, duplicity, and premature prostitution (Welter
103). Women of the Nineteenth Century were taught to believe the contradiction that
purity before marriage brought happiness, until it was time to be married and all
innocence is lost. Without proper preparation to deal with the moral dilemma women
were expected to deal with this severe change in their lives without questions (Welter
104).
The next requirement for being a true woman was submissiveness. According to
society men were superior to women by God s appointment. If they acted otherwise
they tampered with the order of the Universe (Welter 105). A true woman would not
question this idea because she already understands her place. Grace Greenwood
explained to the women of the Nineteenth Century, True feminine genius is ever
timid, doubtful, and clingingly dependant; a perpetual childhood. Even in the case of
an abusive husband, women were sometimes told to stay quiet
