Eating Disorders Essay
Eating Disorders Eating disorders are sweeping this country and are rampant on junior high, high
school, and college campuses. These disorders are often referred to as the Deadly Diet, but are often
known by their more popular names: anorexia or bulimia. They affect more than 20% of females
between the age of thirteen and forty. It is very rare for a young female not to know of someone with
an eating disorder. Statistics show that at least one in five young women have a serious problem with
eating and weight (Bruch, 25). The Deadly Diet appears to be a mostly female problem. Eating
disorders are most common in the middle to upper middle class families. Currently, the incidence is
much lower in females from the blue collar ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The regular dieter is in control of the diet. The Deadly Dieter is controlled by the diet. There are five
basic types of Deadly Dieter. Although there are probably as many variations of these basic types as
there are people in the world, all eating disorders fall into one of the Deadly Diets. Fasting. This type
of Deadly Dieter will often try to exist on only 500 calories per day, even though most nutritionists
claim that a starvation diet is no lower than about 1200 calories a day. This person can get so upset
over any extra calories that they begin to see calories where there are virtually none. For example,
some Deadly Dieters are afraid to chew one piece of gum for fear they would take in too many
calories. Binging. People who just binge, and consequently are obese, can also be called Deadly
Dieters. They, too, are out of control. Their diet is constantly on their minds. It begins to kill them (not
only in terms of their health, but socially and personally). Binging Purging. These people often begin
their Deadly Diet as fasters. They soon learn that fasting also cuts them off from most social functions.
In our society it is rare when people get together and don t have some type of food available. The
solution to being thin and yet being able to eat is to get rid of the food they have eaten. The most
common form of purging is vomiting. A much less common method is the overuse of laxatives.

The Various Trends And Trends In English Language
As India is a developing country and the status of English is second language the teaching of English
has become a real challenge right from the beginning of the history of English language teaching till
date and the teachers have been introducing new methodologies and the trends kept changing. Due to
the association with the British, English started in India with the status of foreign language and much
hated language. Today it has become a status symbol for the upper class. In the 20th century English
language started emerging as a global language and the Indian classroom environment also changed
based on the needs of the learner.Through this paper I would like to discuss the various trends in
language learning. Introduction:Many theories about learning and teaching of languages have been
proposed from a historical perspective and many changes have been brought in the language teaching
methodologies based on the needs of the learner. The search for creativity /innovations to find more
efficient and effective Ways of teaching languages went on through out the 20th century. From the
origin of English Language Teaching there are many trends that have taken place. The teaching

The Modern View Of Islam
The modern view of Islam in the United States is often influenced by the stereotype created by
westerners based on the history of military conflict between the United States and Islamic countries.
In turn, the view of Americans has shifted in Islamic countries due to the religious generalization that
has been developed. It is widely known that the United States and Islamic countries have had military
conflict in the past, with examples such as the September 11th attacks or the location and assassination
of Osama Bin Laden, however the negative social interaction between these two communities is
seldom addressed within western society. It is the misconception of the Muslim religion and Islamic
culture that is to blame for these social biases which have placed Muslims in America into a social
subjugation predominantly by people of non Muslim religious affiliation in western society. In parallel
and due to this subjugation, a negative opinion of Americans in Islamic countries has been adhered. To
address this issue in a two hour briefing with the President of the United States, the topic of religious
generalization and the physical and social harm it has caused to the Muslim community will be
addressed. Likewise, it is to the concern of the President of the United States that the American
reputation has been harmed as it is his job to uphold the American reputation within the international
realm.

The Raft Of Medusa By Theodore Gericault
While searching through all the photos in the Romanticism reading, i decided to chose one particular
piece of artwork to write about. I chose to write about The Raft of Medusa, by Theodore Gericault.
This piece of art work is so eye catching and really shows many characteristics of the Romantic
period. Just from the first glimpse of this piece of artwork, one can be filled with unbridled, deep felt
emotion. This piece of artwork has some very emotional extremes. The bodies of the people that are
laying on the raft, most of them are dead, but others look as if they are in pain and are suffering. The
facial expressions of these people are are not good. Some look as if they are being tortured, some look
very sad, but most of them look helpless

Going Camping For The Camping Trip
Going camping for the very first time can be an exciting experience. However, knowing how to
prepare for the camping trip ensures that the elements won t stop you and your family from exploring
the wild and having a good time. You must be ready for whatever the climate has to offer, because
those afternoon showers can sneak up in the summertime, and there are unexpected cold snaps in the
spring and fall. It is important to pack the proper clothing so that you are prepared for all of the
weather conditions that Mother Nature may send your way. Wear Comfortable Clothes The key to
packing outfits for a camping trip is to take enough comfortable apparel to last the length of the stay,
and make sure it is the appropriate attire for the season. When you wear clothes that provide functional
comfort, you will be able to relax and have a good time during your camp out; plus, you ll be
protected from any harsh elements. Keep in mind that it is better to have too much than not enough. It
is a good idea to dress in layers, because it allows you to remove garments as the day warms up.
Outfits to Pack for Warm Climate Campouts Always choose loose clothing that flows away from the
body allowing air to circulate. Pack lightweight cotton T shirts, shorts, undergarments, socks, tennis
shoes, sweaters, wide brimmed hat, sunglasses, and a poncho or raincoat. Don t forget to take the
sunscreen and keep it applied on all areas of the skin that will be exposed to the sun. Clothes to Take

The Colors of Othello Essay
The Colors of Othello
In Shakespeare s Othello, color imagery consistently appears throughout the text. The colors,
specifically black, white, and red, create symbolic and metaphoric meanings which contribute to larger
themes such as racial prejudice, good versus evil, sexuality, and murder. The colors evoke images in
the characters minds, particularly Othello s. These images, along with their corresponding idea or
theme, influence the actions of the characters, culminating in the murder of Desdemona by Othello.
References to black and white carry the most weight and contribute much to the actions of the
characters; those colors often are used as a comment on race, on good and evil, on sexuality, ... Show

Brabantio refers to Othello as a sooty bosom, following Iago s earlier racial image. He stereotypes
Othello, saying that magic must be involved or Desdemona, a fair or white woman, never would have
chosen a dark man, a sooty bosom, to marry. The black and white images placed in Brabantio s mind
influence his views on Othello, or he would not have pointed out Othello s sooty bosom. These images
that emphasize the colors are what keep him from accepting Othello.
Othello defends himself against Brabantio s accusations of magic, saying, Yet by your gracious
patience,/ I will a round unvarnished tale deliver/ Of my whole course of love (1.3.89 91). Othello will
tell the truth of what happened, and the tale will be unvarnished, or unglossed. He recognizes that the
ideas associated with his color are part of the problem, and he must defend himself against racist
beliefs. By telling an unvarnished tale, a tale

Suppressed Darkness On The Medieval Mind Map
Suppressed Darkness on the Medieval Mind Map
William Manchester s A World Lit Only By Fire: The Medieval Mind and the Renaissance unveils an
in depth look at the Late Medieval Ages in Europe and touches upon the Renaissance. It is most well
known as the time period that occurred after the fall of the Roman Empire when the eastern world
seemed to have plummeted into an age of regression and darkness. Manchester s central proposition
was The power of the medieval mind had been irrevocably broken (295). The dimensions of the
medieval mind were cloaked from the outside world and suppressed by the ever powerful dogmas of
the Catholic Church, for there was no room for doubt; the possibility of skepticism simply did not
exist (20). At the same time, a new era was rising in Europe, accompanied by an increasing rate in
literacy, new innovations, the printing press, powerful political figures, and the appraisals of the
Catholic Church. A new cultural movement began to appear, known as the Renaissance, and the
darkness of the medieval mind map was forever shattered, to remain a pale illusion. Humanists, such
as Sir Thomas More and Desiderius Erasmus, and inventors and explorers such as Leonardo Da Vinci,
Nicolas Copernicus, and Ferdinand Magellan guided the way to a new ideology of independent
thinking. Following the campaign of upcoming thinkers, movements, and changes that would turn
people s blind eye, Manchester concluded his point with the tale of Magellan s heroic

The Central Park Play Analysis
The Central Park Cast recreated their roles very well in Annie Jr. The play Annie Jr. has four main
characters are Annie who is an orphan, Miss Hannigan who is an orphanage matron, Grace Farrell
who is Mr. Warbucks s secretary, Mr. Warbucks who is a billionaire. This play is about an orphan girl
named Annie who was hopeless. Annie lived in horrible orphanage where Miss Hannigan was the
orphanage matron. Miss Hannigan is a has been who hated her job and the kids at the orphanage.
Annie tried to run away but the police officer caught her and brought her back to the horrible
orphanage. Miss Hannigan had everyone fooled because everyone thought she was nice and treated
the girls well but, she actually didn t. Annie s life change completely when she was selected by Grace
Farrell to go stay with Mr. Warbucks for a short period of time. Suddenly, everyone is charmed by
Annie including Mr. Warbucks who can be a little cold hearted. Mr. Warbucks knew that all wanted

if they belonged to a horrible orphanage because their clothes looked as if they were actually hand me
downs . They were dirty and big. Annie s appearance changed dramatically along with her life. The
music was good and I think that the cast sung well. Although, I could not understand what they were
singing sometimes. These elements helped the cast create a great play. The music helped to create a
mood for every set. The costumes helped improve their characters. Overall, I think this cast did an
awesome job and I think that they should do more

Summary Of Frank OConnor s First Confession
In the two stories First Confession and Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been The two main
characters are Connie and Jackie. They both are in situations where they are living lies until each is
forced to confront the truth about themselves, and this act of confrontation is freeing them both
spiritually, even though in Connie s case it could lead to her death. In the story First Confession the
author Frank O Connor doesn t use any references that relate it back to events in history. Regardless of
this, there is some developments of context to Catholicism. In the story, Where Are You Going, Where
Have You Been by Joyce Carol Oates there is a reference or inspired by four murders. Therefore, both
Connie and Jackie find themselves at a crossroads to find the truth about their lives. These two
characters are on a journey where one may face death and the other has to face a higher authority. In
the story, First Confession, Jackie is the antagonist in the story and he is dealing with a lot of
negativity around him. Jackie also is living in lies himself and throughout the story he is forced to find
out his identity. Jackie s problems started when his grandfather passed away, and his grandmother
came to live with him. Jackie is a young boy who is about to go to his first confession, and he is
scared to death and does not want to go and face a priest. His has been somewhat dishonest through
the story, so he is contemplating confessing the truth to the priest or not to confess

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Creaming
Creaming or skimming[edit]
In most skimming, goods are higher priced so that fewer sales are needed to break even. Selling a
product at a high price, sacrificing high sales to gain a high profit is therefore skimming the market.
Skimming is usually employed to reimburse the cost of investment of the original research into the
product: commonly used in electronic markets when a new range, such as DVD players, are firstly
dismarket at a high price. This strategy is often used to target early adopters of a product or service.
Early adopters generally have a relatively lower price sensitivity this can be attributed to: their need
for the product outweighing their need to economise; a greater understanding of the product s value;

First degree price discrimination
The business charges every consumer exactly how much they are willing to pay for the product.
2. Second degree price discrimination
The business uses volume discounts which allows buyers to purchase a higher inventory at a reduced
price. While this benefits the high inventory buyer, it obviously hurts the low inventory buyer who is
forced to pay a higher price. This buyer may then be less competitive in the downstream market.
3. Third degree price discrimination
This occurs when firms segment the market into high demand and low demand groups.[16]
Firm need to ensure they are aware of several factors of their business before proceeding with the
strategy of price discrimination. Firms must have control over the changes they make regarding the
price of their product by which they can gain profitability depending on the amount of sales made. The
price can be increased or decreased at any point depending on the fluctuation of the rate of buyers and
consumers. Price discrimination strategy is not feasible for all firms as there are many consequences
that the firms may face due to the action. For example: if a firm sells a product to their customer for a
cheaper price and that customer resells the product demanding a higher price from another buyer then
the chances of the firm failing to make a higher profit is predicted because they could have sold their
product at a higher rate than the re seller and made further

Examples Of Tension In Antigone
Every person has their own idea of how they want their life to turn out. In the play Antigone,
Sophocles conveys the message that each character s opinion gave conflict with another, creating
collision and tension. The play is filled with different problems among the characters that builds up
into a tragic ending. It starts off with Antigone wanting to bury her brother, Polyneices; even when
Creon, the king, announced that death was the punishment of doing such an act.
First, Antigone and Ismenê s conversation consisted of complex and compound complex sentences.
Antigone explains why she wants to bury her brother; aware of the punishment Creon is prepared to
give. In the Prologue, Antigone states, He is my brother. And he is your brother too. (191) Ismenê
refuses to honor her brother because of Creon s laws, as she says, But think of the danger! Think what

Feminism in Elizabeth Barrett Browning s Aurora Leigh Essay
Feminism in Elizabeth Barrett Browning s Aurora Leigh
In Aurora Leigh, Elizabeth Barrett Browning creates an independent, intelligent young woman. Barrett
Browning successfully demonstrates the difficult obstacles women had to overcome in the Victorian
period. There were preconceived ideas of what proper women were suppose to do with their life. Not
that this idea has completely been surmounted in our time. Barrett Browning though is optimistic
about the goals women can achieve. She wants to demonstrate to women that belief in themselves and
their dreams is possible and preferable to the standard.
The poem begins with Aurora Leigh s observations of her aunt. Her somewhat narrow forehead

waste of time because a woman would have no chance to use them. She withheld any reading that
were considered improper. In effect Aurora Leigh was taught A general insight into useful facts 413).
Therefore a woman was taught enough facts that could prove useful in conversation. She was not
taught to think deeply and explore ideas for herself.
Her aunt also had her instructed in Spun glass, Stuffed birds, and modeled flowers in wax,/ Because
she liked accomplishments in girls (425 426). So in the narrow mind of her aunt s she considered the
ability to do crafts an accomplishment for women. After the list of Aurora Leigh s education is drawn

that are trivial, not necessary in life. This affects the worth of the woman, not only in monetary value
but in their esteem. Therefore the value of women in society is low for what they produce is of little
worth.
Through this strict upbringing Aurora Leigh s personality persisted. At age twenty she

Overpopulation Is A Major Challenge That Humans Face Today
Overpopulation is a major challenge that humans face today. The human population is close to 8
billion, and at our current birthrate, we are adding nearly one billion more people every 12 years.
Issues such as dependence of natural resources, degradation of the environment, poverty, and
unemployment, are root causes of overpopulation. Though opponents of this theory, such as Erle C.
Ellis uses archeological records, and the history of human evolution to argue against overpopulation.
Robert Walker, on the other hand, disagrees. He uses scientific explanation to anticipate that all living

Many years later, they extracted nutrients from the species by cooking them, and used different woods
for enhanced hunting outcomes. Ellis points out that these innovations are still being used before since
the last ice age ended. So, if hunter gatherers were, therefore, successful worldwide at that time,
human innovation will adapt. Ellis further argues that, the planet s carrying capacity of hunter
gatherers was not any more than 100 million. Without their stone tools, he argues, the amount would
be a lot less. The creation of agriculture, eventually empowered a higher population growth, which
needed more land use. Although the population is much greater now, approximately 7.2 billion,
society has adapted with innovation. In contrast to a UN assessment, Ellis believes that a peak
population is sustainable if obligatory investments are finalizing in the substructure and conducive
trade, supplemented with anti scarceness and food security strategies. , For instance, Chinese
agriculture, shows that population growth will increase efficiency; this is because the relationship
between population and economic wealth displays an increase of productivity. As the population rises,
so does the productivity that matches the stock of food available, this is due to Anthropocene.
Anthropocene suggests that people essentially live in human dominated environments, which is being
changed for our livelihood. Society is transformed

Hans von Hentig, Benjamin Mendelsohn, and Stephen Schafer were the three early victimologist that
proposed victim typologies that were used to classify victims in terms of their responsibility or their
role in their own victimization. According to Von Hentig the victim and criminal are NOT in isolation
but rather together. Von Hentig s concept of Agent provocateurs says that victims may provoke
victimization based on their characteristics. Von Hentig s 13 categories of victims are the young,

On Intelligence by Jeff Hawkins
In On Intelligence, Jeff Hawkins hypothesizes a system of human intelligence based on memory,
predictions, and pattern matching in what he calls a memory prediction framework. Because he
studied and worked in computer science, rather than neuroscience, Hawkins has a unique perspective
and writes in terms that are accessible to someone from a non neurological background or standpoint
and often analogous to computer architecture, making the subject matter relatable to the interested
layman. However, though he offers a plausible structure of the brain that mostly aligns with current
thinking, he does not take into account important recent research, omitting neurologically
developments that have been accepted by the scientific community. The main difference that he offers,
between traditional approaches to artificial intelligence and his thinking, is the importance of drawing
on memory (and associated learned patterns and processes) versus computation. He discusses at length
a hierarchical system of the brain, but leaves out two very important components to that system: the
thalamus and hypothalamus. He also draws broad conclusions without discussing specific mechanisms
for how they are achieved, so his theory is not entirely sound, though it could prove to be. Also,
possibly because of his background, and not being immersed in the world of biological science, he is
able to critique areas of neuroscience and artificial intelligence with interesting points about each. The

1044). The author points out that women s body are objectified and with dress codes it enhances the
spotlight on parts of the females that would typically not be considered sexual shoulders. It has been
said over and over again that the way these girls are dressing is a cause for a distraction for the male
students (Zhou, 2015, para.11). In a way schools are allowing students to continue this behavior for
their future, making judgements on females based on what they are wearing. This is where rape
culture comes into play. Dress codes serve to normalize rape culture, as women are pushed to feel
ashamed of their body and what they show, as innocence as it may seem. Sarah Gordon, a Girl Up
Teen advisor, says rape culture, a building block of the patriarchy, says that men have the license to do
almost anything they want, that women are temptresses, and that if a woman is a victim to a man s
assault/harassment/rape, it is her fault (2016, para. 16). Putting dress codes into play allow to continue
the belief that women and girls are sexual objects and should be defined by that. Putting less stress on
what a woman is wearing will allow stronger, happier women.

When embarking on the journey of learning a foreign language, one of the most important aspects to
consider is immersing one s self in the culture, not just the vocabulary. Having a deeper and broader

Colonists fought against this policy. For example, a group of people planned to intimidate Andrew

Analysis Of The Film The Thirty-Nine Steps
Hitchcock described his film, The Thirty Nine Steps, as a film of episodes. He made sure the content
of every scene was very solid, so that each one would be a little film in itself (Truffaut, p.95). The
sequence The Crofter and His Wife is one of the sections that acts as a film within the film. The
central theme of this sequence is character entrapment. At around mark 26:30, the scene opens with a
view of the countryside which appears to be picturesque and peaceful. However, it is clear that the
countryside is also remote and uninhabited. As Hannay walks towards Alt na Shellach he finds himself
at a very small house which seems to be the only house in the area and soon figures out that it belongs
to a poor crofter and his wife. Hannay asks the crofter if he knows where the professor s house is. The
crofter informs him that it is 14 miles away from their current location and this is why Hannay pays to
stay the night instead of traveling at night. Both the crofter and his wife are distanced from society. In
addition, the isolated environment in which the house is placed is an example of the theme of
entrapment.
As this scene progresses, Hannay is introduced to the crofter s wife, Margaret. It is clear to Hannay
and the view that there is a significant age gap between the couple. As Margaret prepares supper, she
engages in a conversation with Hannay. Although Margaret did not grow up in the countryside, her
husband does not approve when she talks about outside places such as London. She explains, he says
it s best not to think of such things and all the wickedness that goes on there. Margaret then asks, Is it
true that all the London ladies paint their toenails? It is evident that Margaret is physically and
mentally entrapped in the countryside with a man much older than her.
While the crofter is praying, he grows suspicious when he notices the glances exchanged by Hannay
and Margaret at the dinner table. Hitchcock uses shot reverse techniques as the camera captures the
expressions on the character s faces. The crofter steps out of the house and says he needs to check the
barn door. Instead, he spies on Hannay and Margaret through the kitchen window. The crofter is shot
in a frame within a frame as he

Richard III a Tyrant as King Essay
Richard III a Tyrant as King Throughout history, this very title has been disputed and the outcome has
remained debatable to this very day. Richard, Duke of York had remained loyal to his brother, Edward
IV throughout his years of reign, and had been well rewarded for his support, he became the Duke of
Gloucester. In marrying Anne Neville, daughter of Earl of Warwick, he had inherited mass amounts of
Neville land in the north of England after both the Earl and Anne died. He was respected within the
northern parts of England and provided land for his friends. He was an able man who showed signs of
being an efficient king amidst the preoccupations of the rebellions, sadly he went about it the ... Show

The manner, in which Richard moved for authority, seems to put forward that he was the tyrant of
Shakespeare s play. He also professed that he had been informed, by a Bishop, of how Edward had
been betrothed to a woman by the name of Eleanor Boteles, before his marriage to Elizabeth in 1464.
This therefore proved the marriage was invalid and the children were bastards. There was no evidence
to contradict Richard, as both Edward and Eleanor were dead, she had died a number of years before
the story came out. With all other claimants to the throne dead, Richard was the rightful heir. Richard s
seizure of the throne could also be seen as ambitious, or overly ambitious, and this cost him support.
On becoming king, he had shared southern land between his northern supporters, loosing all trust and
loyalty from the south. When Richard arrived in London he quickly on the spot killed Lord Hastings.
He moved him to take out the support for his nephew, Edward V, as Lord Hastings had been possibly
Edward V biggest supporter. Richard later said it was due to the fact that Hastings had been scheming
himself to take the crown. But by killing Hatings on the spot seems a dictatorial act with both this act
and the manner that Richard took the crown does not help to improve the view of Richard III. Richard
had the two princes taken to the

Causes And Effects Of Bullying

English 111

Causes and Effects of Bullying Bullying is a big issue that spreads through the world. It can happen to
anyone of all ages, and in numerous ways. Bullying is unwanted, aggressive behavior among people
that involves a real or perceived power imbalance that either repeats or has the potential to repeat,
overtime (Bullying Definition). There are so many factors that tie into bullying such as, why the bully
is actually bullying, why the bully chose that victim, or even the effects that occur while the bullying
is taking place. Low self esteem is a common reason why someone would want to bully a person. Low
self esteem is the lack of pride a person feels in themselves. Often times a bully feels like they are less
than others and the only way for them to feel better about themselves is to try to bring others down. A
lot of bullies aren t trying to hurt someone physically, they use words and certain remarks to torture a
person, making that person feel just as less as them just to uplift their own self esteem. Although low
self esteem is a cause narcissism is also a factor to bullying. Not only can a bully feel less of
themselves but they can also feel that they are higher or better than others. Cockiness is a trait seen in
many bullies. This may show in people such as jocks at a high school, or a fellow co worker that may
have a higher position or make a higher salary.

Women and New Deal Programs Essay
Black Tuesday is cited to be the day that the Stock Market Crashed on October 19, 1929, and it is
believed to have been the beginning of the Great Depression (Schultz). This led to many catastrophes
in the United States economic system that lasted ten years, from 1929 1939 (Schultz). During this time
period consumer spending declined, unemployment increased, and a severe drought throughout the
U.S led to a reduction in agricultural labor, which resulted in even more unemployment (Schultz).
Nevertheless, out of this crisis President Roosevelt created programs, throughout his presidency, in
hopes of bettering the United States economy. These programs would eventually be called the New

were employed on FERA, Federal Emergency Relief Administration projects, which were run by state

programs and directly assisted women was the Work Progress Administration. The WPA was created
in 1935 and hired single women, widows, or women with disabled or absent husbands (Kennedy 625).
While the WAP employed men in unskilled manual labor job, women were assigned sewing projects.
They were in charge of making clothing, blankets, and other necessities that were given to charities

and in its Federal Art project, which gave 162 women a job painting murals and creating statues for
the newly built post office buildings and court houses (Ware 47). The New Deal policies, while their
main target was employing and benefitting the male population, with the help of Eleanor Roosevelt,
employment for women also increased and provided a foundation for Women s Rights Movement

Elastic Wave Filtering Properties Of Graded Undulated...
We investigate and experimentally demonstrate the elastic wave filtering properties of graded
undulated lattices. Square reticulates composed of curved beams are characterized by graded
mechanical properties which result from the spatial modulation of the curvature parameter. Among
such properties, the progressive formation of frequency bandgaps leads to strong wave attenuation
over a broad frequency range. The experimental investigation of wave transmission and the detection
of full wavefields effectively illustrate this behavior. Transmission measurements are conducted using
a scanning laser Doppler vibrometer, while a dedicated digital image correlation procedure is
implemented to capture in plane wave motion at selected frequencies. ... Show more content on

Analysis Of The Play Oedipus Tyrannous By Sophocles

LITR201
August 19, 2016
Dear Dr. Kwa,
I chose to write about the play Oedipus Tyrannous by Sophocles, I found this play to be very
encapsulating to the very end. I really enjoyed the suspense, as well as the turn of direction that the
play took in the end as the plot thickened. In this essay, I will describe why I personally believe that
this play was not just a tragic event and the many reasons why I believe that Oedipus can be viewed as
a tragic hero by his actions throughout the play. I believe that some of my strengths in this essay will
show that I have written a well developed and explanatory essay that will prove to be true of my
analysis of Oedipus s heroism in his words to support my opinions. I know that some of the verses that
I quoted form the play can be interpreted differently so I would definitely like to get your take on
those quotes that I cited that you feel may have a deeper meaning or interpretation altogether. I also
view this as my weakness because of the way that some of the verses are worded or the choice of
words used, it was hard for me to understand as it sounded a bit off. I also know that I used a few large
sections of quotes which I made up for in my in my word count.

Rascal Flatts Identity
In the memorable way that country band Rascal Flatts puts it, Life s like a road that you travel on,
there s one day here and the next day gone. Life Is a Highway. As we all know, there s an entrance and
an exit point to every highway. Much like a highway, our lives have a beginning and an end. Similarly,
the structure of the letter I has a start and a finish. At a closer glance the alphabet holds more purpose
than for just simply reading and writing. Perhaps simplistic letters hold an unknown truth about the
world around us.
Who am I? Who are you? As a person, we are labeled by our identity. According to
Dictionary.reference.com the word identity is defined as condition or character as to who a person or
what a thing is. Distinctive traits give personality to individuals. As people living in society, we tend
to leave a trail or a legacy of who we are behind us. There is a paradoxical nature to one s ... Show

This quote depicts the egocentric and ignorant nature of this man. People who were not of his perfect
master race of blonde hair and blue eyes (ushmm.org 1) were to be sent to concentration camps in the

Ignorance. Lack of knowledge or information. A negative attitude about another race or religion is an
example of ignorance. Let that also rest.
Adolf Hitler s selfish and ignorant way of thinking led to a series of mass destruction, war, and grief.
War and grief suggests injustice. So does poverty, starvation, racism, and abuse. Although the United
States of America is one of the wealthiest countries in the world, one in five children in the U.S. live
in poverty (Americas Homeless 2:49). This branches off into economic injustice. Living in poverty is
not necessary, not innate, nor is it desirable.
Thus, the typical letter I seems very plain. However, when looked at a different perspective, it sheds a

Reinforcing The Gender Binary
Jules and Nic are slightly ambiguous representations of butch and femme yet the film overtly
reinforces binary gender roles in its homonormative depiction of the family. Nic presents a more
masculine identity: she has messy, cropped hair, wears little makeup, and wears relaxed fitting jeans
and button down dress shirts. She is quick to anger, aggressive, a workaholic doctor, and operates
more on conservatism and logic. Nic is both the disciplinarian and breadwinner in the family. In
contrast, Jules is more visually feminized. She has long, smooth red hair, wears sexy lacy lingerie, and
flowy or fitted t shirts. Free spirit Jules is a more liberal. She is the nurturing parent emotionally
sensitive, compassionate and craves intimacy, characteristics that construct the femme (Martin 1996).
These characteristics that construct Jules are antithetical to masculinity (Crewe 2015). These roles
suggest that Nic is the man and Jules is the woman. This homonormative discourse continues
throughout the film in a way that Nic becomes dissonant from the role of mother.
As the man in the relationship, Nic performatively embodies a dominant, masculine fatherly figure
(Fox 4). In postulating a masculinized identity, she reinscribes heteronormative conventions. This is
established early

2.4 Success of Coastal Management Practices:
Overall, current management practices have been insufficient in protecting the wellbeing of the
coastline (i.e. the beach itself is considerably eroded, and the fence line and access routes are in
disrepair). As a consequence, the location requires more attention.
Firstly, more bins could be placed around the beach to discourage people from littering and the fence
line should be repaired. The distressed Mangroves could also be assisted in their recovery and
regrowth as they may be useful as a buffer zone in the future. Finally, there should be more dune
plantation to secure the bank and prevent further erosion, and perhaps, even the implementation of a

The Importance Of Conservation During The Progressive Era
Conservation was the most important reform, from this time period, since it worked towards
protecting the United State s physical environment which leads to obtaining the essential resources of
nature, preserving the naturality of the planet, and living a higher quality of life. During the
Progressive Era the Second Industrial Revolution was in action, sprouting new technological
advancements and ground breaking creations or processes. During this era, new inventions were being
made and big monopolies were increasing their use of natural resources to a point where it was
becoming harmful. One of the areas of resources that was becoming alarmingly low was forests and
lumber, leading to the Forest Reserve Act of 1891. This act, which occurred during the conservation
reform, allowed the president to choose forests of interests and claim them as reserves, protecting
them from being harmed or negatively affected by big businesses. With the Forest Act many other acts
protecting the Earth s resources sprung up as well. All of the acts that were passed restricted important
resources from being wasted and blatantly used for company production areas. These acts, enlisted in
terms of the government, would allow the president to choose areas in which resources could always
exist and couldn t be overused. The areas chosen would include places with plentiful natural assets
and a large range of land. This early protection against the act of overharvesting, lead to people being

With cotton becoming a huge source of economy in the south the slave number increased. These

Most the slave labor was field labor and to meet the needs of labor there was the domestic slave trade.
Although slave trade was prohibited in 1808, a new huge slave trade had developed. In the southern

Pleural involvement in CT can be seen as pleural effusion, plaques, discrete pleural nodules, or a

By contrast, pleural involvement by systemic lymphoma is relatively common. Approximately 16% of
patients with non Hodgkin lymphoma present with, or subsequently develop, pleural involvement
during the course of disease. Pleural involvement can be unilateral or bilateral and is more common on

PET may provide complementary information to conventional staging as it is highly sensitive in
detecting nodal and extra nodal involvement by most histological subtypes of lymphoma prior to and
following treatment. In lymphoma staging, PET/CT tends to upstage rather than downstage tumors
(Okada et al., 2010). 18F FDG PET can be used for detecting most types of lymphoma. However,
even if the 18F FDG PET scan is positive in a pattern that is highly suggestive of lymphoma,
diagnosis of lymphoma requires histological confirmation. The major utility of 18F FDG PET in
diagnosis is often in directing a biopsy. PET can also be used to guide biopsies to the site of highest
18F FDG uptake, representing the most aggressive site of lymphoma. 18F FDG PET may identify
other involved regions, which can be biopsied at much lower morbidity (Delbeke et al, 2009). The
advantages of 18F FDG PET/CT for the staging and restaging of both NHL and Hodgkin disease are
mostly attributed to the detection of 18F FDG avid, normal sized lymph nodes (usually 1 cm), and of
extra nodal sites that were previously missed at CT (most commonly the liver, spleen, cortical bone,
bone marrow, and skin). In a few cases, paraspinal and pulmonary lesions that were interpreted as

Due to his past success, one could presume Jeffers management approach would be inspirational, and
his community profile renders him as an authentic and charismatic leader. In fact, he degraded

turn around a second business, Prego, from its defunct state and she promoted Ortega to the kitchen
there where he gained experience with Executive Chef John Watt. It was then that Tracy decided to
invest in her rising star employee, enrolling Hugo in the Culinary Arts program at HCC where he

Origin ( E.g Time, Place Of Beginnings )
Origin (e.g time, place of beginnings): The Inca was also known as Tawantinsuyu, first appeared in the
Andes region of South America throughout the 12th century A.D, the heterogeneous empire quickly
flourished through the military power of their emperors. They had their own culture and pantheist
beliefs up until 1438, however, the influences of past settlements and the following ninety five years
of expansion caused religious beliefs to change and develop significantly. The Inca conquered
neighbouring Andean regions which had their own set of religious beliefs, worshipped deities and had
unique practices. Nearly all Andean communities participated in the everyday worship of the forces of
nature (including rain, lightning, thunder, the moon and the rising of the sun each day) and venerated
the earth s physical features (such as snakes, jaguars, rivers and mountains). The peasants among each
allyu (a group of extended families) executed these practices for thousands of years. Each allyu
worshipped their ancestors, which they believed to originate from the natural world at sacred places
called huacas. The Incas built their own temples, sacred sites, took sacred relics from the locals and
held them in the sacred land Cuzco to encourage compliance with the Inca beliefs and accept the
supremacy of Inti (the most important Inca deity and sun god). Instead of forcing them to completely
convert to the Inca state religion, the Incas assimilated the deities, beliefs and culture of

Erasmus Vs Erasmus
The topic of freedom can mean so many things to every person. Theologists, Calvin and Luther, did
not think human had freedom of choice, only that God had already laid out a plan for us. Erasmus, on
the other hand, disagreed with them and thought that people must have a free will, because God would
not punish us for the sins that he predestined us to do. Unlike in Christianity, Buddhism and Hinduism
believe in freedom in a sense that there is freedom after life that cannot truly be explained in words. I
agree with Erasmus in that everyone has free will, but it is the circumstances in which you live that
will help determine the choices you make. Death is also a form of freedom in that there is nothing
beyond death, and it should be seen as a neutral. There are many views of freedom depending on your
view of life, your religion, or how you were raised, and these circumstances give more probability to
certain decisions from the multiple choices always available, but humans also have a lack of freedom
due to the pain and suffering during life. From the Christian perspective, the idea of freedom and
having free will started when Adam and Eve disobeyed God and ate the forbidden fruit. Throughout
time, this became known as the original sin. It has been long debated whether Adam and Eve had the
free will to eat the fruit before, or even after eating it. It is said in the Bible that they gained
knowledge when they ate the fruit, but knowledge can mean so many things. Not only did

Paul s Missionary Journeys and Epistle Correlates
Paul s Missionary Journeys and Epistle Correlates The missionary journeys of Paul cover a major
portion of the Book of the Acts of the Apostles (commonly shortened to Acts). Acts demonstrates, at
least in part, how the journeys relate to the writing of the Epistles or letters to various congregations
that needed encouragement or some other word from Paul, and when they were written. The three
journeys happened in close relation to one another and were meant to spread the Gospel message to
the unsaved and encourage those who had come to believe on the Son of Man. The letters were written
as an inspiration from the Father to further the understanding of believers regarding the perfect life of
a Christian. This papers describes in short form the three missionary journeys of Paul and how they
relate, chronologically, to Paul s writing of the epistles. Missionary Journeys The first element of the
journeys was who traveled with Paul. He went on the first with Barnabas and Mark. Barnabas was
regarded as a coworker and Mark as an apprentice or helper according to Niswonger (1992, 209). The
second journey was much longer, as concerns distance, but did not take as much time and was
accomplished with Silas. The third journey is a solo one apparently (McGee, 1998). The approximate
dates of the three journeys are First from 45 AD to 47 AD, Second from 51 AD to 53 AD and Third
from 54 AD to 58 AD (McGee, 1998). Of course all of these dates are somewhat speculative, but they

Organizations bear economic, legal, and ethical obligations to provide useful information about the
risks and benefits of their products, policies, and services. Failure to fulfill those obligations can be
costly. Financial analyst estimate that 70% of a typical private firm s assets are intangibles, like
goodwill, that can be lost when communication fail. Public institutions reputations often depend on
their ability to communicate (Fischhoff).
It is important to know that organizations are vital with providing guidance and advice for an
arrangement of objectives and methodologies of serviceable divisions. Moreover, these procedures
could show the principle explanation of achievement or dissatisfaction of the organization.
Government responsiveness identifies with capability to react to evolving requests. Differentiation can
identify with items or administration characteristics, quality, notoriety, or client administration. A few
associations concentrate on a solitary methodology while others utilize a mix of methodologies.
Systems give center to choice making. As a rule, public sectors have general techniques called
authoritative methodologies, which identify with the whole public/private sector. They likewise have
utilitarian procedures, which identify with each of the practical territories of the agency.
The useful systems ought to back the general techniques of the association, in the same way that the
hierarchical methods ought to back the objectives and mission

Social Pressures Reflected in Ginsberg s Howl Essay
Social Pressures Reflected in Ginsberg s Howl
Post World War II America produced a number of images that will be forever imprinted on the minds
of Americans. Such images as television shows like Leave It To Beaver and I Love Lucy, movies such
as An Affair To Remember, and Brigadoon, are watched frequently even in today s society. But in this
world of fairytale movies and the American Dream, what about those who didn t fit into the picture of
perfection and prosperity? These men became the basis of an underground network of dissident
writers, teachers, artists and filmmakers. Often a reaction against the strict standards of normalcy held
by the American public and the bureaucracy of the government, their work not only ... Show more

Such is the same in Howl.
Ginsberg does not spare the innocent reader. When one analyzes the social power of Ginsberg s
statements, one can come easily to the conclusion that society was not exactly welcoming to Ginsberg,
and he reacted to that through his writing, especially in Howl.
The second portion of Howl is commonly considered by critics to be the most complicated for the
average mind to comprehend. In this section, nearly every thing is described as a Moloch. Moloch, in
mythology was a God to whom children were sacrificed. Now, the term is commonly used to describe
anything responsible for destroying innocence. In Part II, Ginsberg describes nearly everything about
American culture to be a Moloch. Even society s viewpoints are Molochs. In a way, Ginsberg is
calling America itself a Moloch, and then continuing to describe parts of the whole.
Moloch whose mind is pure machinery! Moloch whose blood is running money! Moloch whose
fingers are ten armies! Moloch whose breast is a cannibal dynamo! Moloch whose ear is a smoking
tomb! (Ginsberg 21)
America is evil to Ginsberg because of the feelings of hatred and repulsion the society builds in him.
The third section of Howl is a striking contrast to the other two parts.

Civil Litigation In Atlant Case Study
Keywords: Civil litigation in Atlanta, GA, appeals attorney in Atlanta, GA, mediation in Atlanta, GA
A Timeline of Civil Litigation in Atlanta, Georgia Civil litigation in Atlanta, Georgia is often a
lengthy, complex process. For many individuals, civil litigation in Atlanta, Georgia is also confusing
and frustrating. If you are involved in civil litigation, taking the mystery out of the process will reduce
your stress and allow you to focus on the progression of your case. After all, the unknowns of the legal
process are what make it so exasperating to most individuals. The plaintiff is the individual that files a
lawsuit, which is also called a complaint. First, the plaintiff will meet with an attorney to discuss the
facts of the case and why the plaintiff may have the right to sue. The case may be discussed for several
months before ever filing a suit. Attorneys must make sure that claims are meritorious before a suit is
filed. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Usually, a process server delivers a copy of the lawsuit in person to the defendants. The defendants
will have a certain period of time in which to respond to the lawsuit, called filing an answer. If the
defendants never respond to the lawsuit, they may be held in default, which means that the plaintiff
may receive the relief requested in the complaint, such as money damages. After an answer has been
filed, the parties engage in discovery, which is the exchange of documents and other evidence that
may be necessary for trial. This process may take months or a year or longer to complete. Depositions
and expert witness reports may also be necessary during discovery. After evidence has been
exchanged, the parties will either attempt to settle or head to trial for a judge and jury to decide the
fate of the case. Why Hire an Appeals Attorney in Atlanta,

  • 2. Eating Disorders Essay Eating Disorders Eating disorders are sweeping this country and are rampant on junior high, high school, and college campuses. These disorders are often referred to as the Deadly Diet, but are often known by their more popular names: anorexia or bulimia. They affect more than 20% of females between the age of thirteen and forty. It is very rare for a young female not to know of someone with an eating disorder. Statistics show that at least one in five young women have a serious problem with eating and weight (Bruch, 25). The Deadly Diet appears to be a mostly female problem. Eating disorders are most common in the middle to upper middle class families. Currently, the incidence is much lower in females from the blue collar ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The regular dieter is in control of the diet. The Deadly Dieter is controlled by the diet. There are five basic types of Deadly Dieter. Although there are probably as many variations of these basic types as there are people in the world, all eating disorders fall into one of the Deadly Diets. Fasting. This type of Deadly Dieter will often try to exist on only 500 calories per day, even though most nutritionists claim that a starvation diet is no lower than about 1200 calories a day. This person can get so upset over any extra calories that they begin to see calories where there are virtually none. For example, some Deadly Dieters are afraid to chew one piece of gum for fear they would take in too many calories. Binging. People who just binge, and consequently are obese, can also be called Deadly Dieters. They, too, are out of control. Their diet is constantly on their minds. It begins to kill them (not only in terms of their health, but socially and personally). Binging Purging. These people often begin their Deadly Diet as fasters. They soon learn that fasting also cuts them off from most social functions. In our society it is rare when people get together and don t have some type of food available. The solution to being thin and yet being able to eat is to get rid of the food they have eaten. The most common form of purging is vomiting. A much less common method is the overuse of laxatives. • 4. The Modern View Of Islam The modern view of Islam in the United States is often influenced by the stereotype created by westerners based on the history of military conflict between the United States and Islamic countries. In turn, the view of Americans has shifted in Islamic countries due to the religious generalization that has been developed. It is widely known that the United States and Islamic countries have had military conflict in the past, with examples such as the September 11th attacks or the location and assassination of Osama Bin Laden, however the negative social interaction between these two communities is seldom addressed within western society. It is the misconception of the Muslim religion and Islamic culture that is to blame for these social biases which have placed Muslims in America into a social subjugation predominantly by people of non Muslim religious affiliation in western society. In parallel and due to this subjugation, a negative opinion of Americans in Islamic countries has been adhered. To address this issue in a two hour briefing with the President of the United States, the topic of religious generalization and the physical and social harm it has caused to the Muslim community will be addressed. Likewise, it is to the concern of the President of the United States that the American reputation has been harmed as it is his job to uphold the American reputation within the international realm. I chose to write about The Raft of Medusa, by Theodore Gericault. This piece of art work is so eye catching and really shows many characteristics of the Romantic period. Just from the first glimpse of this piece of artwork, one can be filled with unbridled, deep felt emotion. This piece of artwork has some very emotional extremes. The bodies of the people that are laying on the raft, most of them are dead, but others look as if they are in pain and are suffering. The facial expressions of these people are are not good. However, knowing how to prepare for the camping trip ensures that the elements won t stop you and your family from exploring the wild and having a good time. You must be ready for whatever the climate has to offer, because those afternoon showers can sneak up in the summertime, and there are unexpected cold snaps in the spring and fall. It is important to pack the proper clothing so that you are prepared for all of the weather conditions that Mother Nature may send your way. Wear Comfortable Clothes The key to packing outfits for a camping trip is to take enough comfortable apparel to last the length of the stay, and make sure it is the appropriate attire for the season. • 8. The Colors of Othello Essay The Colors of Othello In Shakespeare s Othello, color imagery consistently appears throughout the text. The colors, specifically black, white, and red, create symbolic and metaphoric meanings which contribute to larger themes such as racial prejudice, good versus evil, sexuality, and murder. The colors evoke images in the characters minds, particularly Othello s. These images, along with their corresponding idea or theme, influence the actions of the characters, culminating in the murder of Desdemona by Othello. The black and white images placed in Brabantio s mind influence his views on Othello, or he would not have pointed out Othello s sooty bosom. These images that emphasize the colors are what keep him from accepting Othello. Othello defends himself against Brabantio s accusations of magic, saying, Yet by your gracious patience,/ I will a round unvarnished tale deliver/ Of my whole course of love (1.3.89 91). • 9. Suppressed Darkness On The Medieval Mind Map Suppressed Darkness on the Medieval Mind Map William Manchester s A World Lit Only By Fire: The Medieval Mind and the Renaissance unveils an in depth look at the Late Medieval Ages in Europe and touches upon the Renaissance. It is most well known as the time period that occurred after the fall of the Roman Empire when the eastern world seemed to have plummeted into an age of regression and darkness. Manchester s central proposition was The power of the medieval mind had been irrevocably broken (295). The dimensions of the medieval mind were cloaked from the outside world and suppressed by the ever powerful dogmas of the Catholic Church, for there was no room for doubt; the possibility of skepticism simply did not exist (20). At the same time, a new era was rising in Europe, accompanied by an increasing rate in literacy, new innovations, the printing press, powerful political figures, and the appraisals of the Catholic Church. A new cultural movement began to appear, known as the Renaissance, and the darkness of the medieval mind map was forever shattered, to remain a pale illusion. Humanists, such as Sir Thomas More and Desiderius Erasmus, and inventors and explorers such as Leonardo Da Vinci, Nicolas Copernicus, and Ferdinand Magellan guided the way to a new ideology of independent thinking. Following the campaign of upcoming thinkers, movements, and changes that would turn people s blind eye, Manchester concluded his point with the tale of Magellan s heroic ... They both are in situations where they are living lies until each is forced to confront the truth about themselves, and this act of confrontation is freeing them both spiritually, even though in Connie s case it could lead to her death. In the story First Confession the author Frank O Connor doesn t use any references that relate it back to events in history. Regardless of this, there is some developments of context to Catholicism. In the story, Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been by Joyce Carol Oates there is a reference or inspired by four murders. Therefore, both Connie and Jackie find themselves at a crossroads to find the truth about their lives. These two characters are on a journey where one may face death and the other has to face a higher authority. In the story, First Confession, Jackie is the antagonist in the story and he is dealing with a lot of negativity around him. Skimming is usually employed to reimburse the cost of investment of the original research into the product: commonly used in electronic markets when a new range, such as DVD players, are firstly dismarket at a high price. This strategy is often used to target early adopters of a product or service. Second degree price discrimination The business uses volume discounts which allows buyers to purchase a higher inventory at a reduced price. While this benefits the high inventory buyer, it obviously hurts the low inventory buyer who is forced to pay a higher price. This buyer may then be less competitive in the downstream market. 3. Third degree price discrimination This occurs when firms segment the market into high demand and low demand groups.[16] Firm need to ensure they are aware of several factors of their business before proceeding with the strategy of price discrimination. Firms must have control over the changes they make regarding the price of their product by which they can gain profitability depending on the amount of sales made. The price can be increased or decreased at any point depending on the fluctuation of the rate of buyers and consumers. Price discrimination strategy is not feasible for all firms as there are many consequences that the firms may face due to the action. For example: if a firm sells a product to their customer for a cheaper price and that customer resells the product demanding a higher price from another buyer then the chances of the firm failing to make a higher profit is predicted because they could have sold their product at a higher rate than the re seller and made further ... In the play Antigone, Sophocles conveys the message that each character s opinion gave conflict with another, creating collision and tension. The play is filled with different problems among the characters that builds up into a tragic ending. It starts off with Antigone wanting to bury her brother, Polyneices; even when Creon, the king, announced that death was the punishment of doing such an act. Feminism in Elizabeth Barrett Browning s Aurora Leigh Essay Feminism in Elizabeth Barrett Browning s Aurora Leigh In Aurora Leigh, Elizabeth Barrett Browning creates an independent, intelligent young woman. Barrett Browning successfully demonstrates the difficult obstacles women had to overcome in the Victorian period. There were preconceived ideas of what proper women were suppose to do with their life. Not that this idea has completely been surmounted in our time. Barrett Browning though is optimistic about the goals women can achieve. She wants to demonstrate to women that belief in themselves and their dreams is possible and preferable to the standard. She introduces the line subtlety but actually this is the sum of her belief. Women produce goods that are trivial, not necessary in life. Ellis points out that these innovations are still being used before since the last ice age ended. So, if hunter gatherers were, therefore, successful worldwide at that time, human innovation will adapt. Ellis further argues that, the planet s carrying capacity of hunter gatherers was not any more than 100 million. Without their stone tools, he argues, the amount would be a lot less. The creation of agriculture, eventually empowered a higher population growth, which needed more land use. Although the population is much greater now, approximately 7.2 billion, society has adapted with innovation. In contrast to a UN assessment, Ellis believes that a peak population is sustainable if obligatory investments are finalizing in the substructure and conducive trade, supplemented with anti scarceness and food security strategies. , For instance, Chinese agriculture, shows that population growth will increase efficiency; this is because the relationship between population and economic wealth displays an increase of productivity. • 18. On Intelligence by Jeff Hawkins In On Intelligence, Jeff Hawkins hypothesizes a system of human intelligence based on memory, predictions, and pattern matching in what he calls a memory prediction framework. Because he studied and worked in computer science, rather than neuroscience, Hawkins has a unique perspective and writes in terms that are accessible to someone from a non neurological background or standpoint and often analogous to computer architecture, making the subject matter relatable to the interested layman. However, though he offers a plausible structure of the brain that mostly aligns with current thinking, he does not take into account important recent research, omitting neurologically developments that have been accepted by the scientific community. The main difference that he offers, between traditional approaches to artificial intelligence and his thinking, is the importance of drawing on memory (and associated learned patterns and processes) versus computation. He discusses at length a hierarchical system of the brain, but leaves out two very important components to that system: the thalamus and hypothalamus. He also draws broad conclusions without discussing specific mechanisms for how they are achieved, so his theory is not entirely sound, though it could prove to be. The author points out that women s body are objectified and with dress codes it enhances the spotlight on parts of the females that would typically not be considered sexual shoulders. It has been said over and over again that the way these girls are dressing is a cause for a distraction for the male students (Zhou, 2015, para.11). In a way schools are allowing students to continue this behavior for their future, making judgements on females based on what they are wearing. This is where rape culture comes into play. Dress codes serve to normalize rape culture, as women are pushed to feel ashamed of their body and what they show, as innocence as it may seem. Sarah Gordon, a Girl Up Teen advisor, says rape culture, a building block of the patriarchy, says that men have the license to do almost anything they want, that women are temptresses, and that if a woman is a victim to a man s assault/harassment/rape, it is her fault (2016, para. 16). Putting dress codes into play allow to continue the belief that women and girls are sexual objects and should be defined by that. Putting less stress on what a woman is wearing will allow stronger, happier women. I believe that my demographics have an influence on my opinions, specially on this topic. Being a ... • 22. Analysis Of The Film The Thirty-Nine Steps Hitchcock described his film, The Thirty Nine Steps, as a film of episodes. He made sure the content of every scene was very solid, so that each one would be a little film in itself (Truffaut, p.95). The sequence The Crofter and His Wife is one of the sections that acts as a film within the film. The central theme of this sequence is character entrapment. At around mark 26:30, the scene opens with a view of the countryside which appears to be picturesque and peaceful. However, it is clear that the countryside is also remote and uninhabited. As Hannay walks towards Alt na Shellach he finds himself at a very small house which seems to be the only house in the area and soon figures out that it belongs to a poor crofter and his wife. Hannay asks the crofter if he knows where the professor s house is. The crofter informs him that it is 14 miles away from their current location and this is why Hannay pays to stay the night instead of traveling at night. Both the crofter and his wife are distanced from society. In addition, the isolated environment in which the house is placed is an example of the theme of entrapment. As this scene progresses, Hannay is introduced to the crofter s wife, Margaret. It is clear to Hannay and the view that there is a significant age gap between the couple. As Margaret prepares supper, she engages in a conversation with Hannay. Although Margaret did not grow up in the countryside, her husband does not approve when she talks about outside places such as London. She explains, he says it s best not to think of such things and all the wickedness that goes on there. Margaret then asks, Is it true that all the London ladies paint their toenails? It is evident that Margaret is physically and mentally entrapped in the countryside with a man much older than her. While the crofter is praying, he grows suspicious when he notices the glances exchanged by Hannay and Margaret at the dinner table. Hitchcock uses shot reverse techniques as the camera captures the expressions on the character s faces. The crofter steps out of the house and says he needs to check the barn door. This therefore proved the marriage was invalid and the children were bastards. There was no evidence to contradict Richard, as both Edward and Eleanor were dead, she had died a number of years before the story came out. With all other claimants to the throne dead, Richard was the rightful heir. Richard s seizure of the throne could also be seen as ambitious, or overly ambitious, and this cost him support. When Richard arrived in London he quickly on the spot killed Lord Hastings. It can happen to anyone of all ages, and in numerous ways. Bullying is unwanted, aggressive behavior among people that involves a real or perceived power imbalance that either repeats or has the potential to repeat, overtime (Bullying Definition). There are so many factors that tie into bullying such as, why the bully is actually bullying, why the bully chose that victim, or even the effects that occur while the bullying is taking place. Low self esteem is a common reason why someone would want to bully a person. Low self esteem is the lack of pride a person feels in themselves. Often times a bully feels like they are less than others and the only way for them to feel better about themselves is to try to bring others down. A lot of bullies aren t trying to hurt someone physically, they use words and certain remarks to torture a person, making that person feel just as less as them just to uplift their own self esteem. Although low self esteem is a cause narcissism is also a factor to bullying. Not only can a bully feel less of themselves but they can also feel that they are higher or better than others. Cockiness is a trait seen in many bullies. This may show in people such as jocks at a high school, or a fellow co worker that may have a higher position or make a higher salary. Square reticulates composed of curved beams are characterized by graded mechanical properties which result from the spatial modulation of the curvature parameter. Among such properties, the progressive formation of frequency bandgaps leads to strong wave attenuation over a broad frequency range. The experimental investigation of wave transmission and the detection of full wavefields effectively illustrate this behavior. • 39. President Executive Officer Director Chief Officer Essay Overview After thirty years at the helm of Fortuga Artisans, Inc., a home décor manufacturing company, founded Peter Fortuga in 2011 announced his retirement to his staff. Expeditiously, the search for a replacement commenced and the board of directors found Doug Jeffers, a well known interior designer, to replace Fortuga as Chief Executive Officer (CEO). A charismatic, hard working, and well connected individual, Jeffers appeared qualified through his innovative approach to lead the company to new heights. Analysis of Leadership Strategies Due to his past success, one could presume Jeffers management approach would be inspirational, and his community profile renders him as an authentic and charismatic leader. In fact, he degraded employees, ignored other s sentiments and notions, determined strategic decisions unaided, disregarded company policies, and discounted the need for work and life balance. As a result, Jeffers personified the negative characteristics of charismatic leaders, and he is the antithesis of the positive attributes. However, the public s perception of Jeffers did not translate over to the team at Fortuga. In fact, he was distal to feedback and disregarded company policies these traits embody a charismatic leader (Spahr, 2016). If Jeffers were a charismatic leader, he would be an effective communicator, build trust, and influence those around him to become devout followers (Riggio, 2012). In this case, his employees perceived Jeffers as a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Hugo s Restaurant Style When I began writing this blog post, I thought that the menu of Hugo s would be the draw for people. Looking to have a great meal is one thing I can agree with Houston about on many levels and Hugo s has got some really fun, interesting, delicious food. Once I even had crickets there. And they were good. Like, really good. But adventuresome eating isn t even the most interesting thing about Hugo s, which serves authentic Mexican regional cuisine from many of Mexico s numerous cultural variants. Executive Chef Hugo Ortega (the Hugo in Hugo s) considers authentic Mexican cooking to be a world class cuisine that has remained virtually unchanged by the outside world. He seeks to find the subtle flavors of each area and integrate them into his technically distinguished menu, bringing a reverent tone to this beautiful homage to Mexican diversity. However, despite the exceptional cuisine, despite the historic, beautiful building, despite even your love of a good story about me eating strange foods, nothing trumps the intrigue of a great story: Tracy Vaught and Hugo Ortega are plenty of story to tell. • 42. Origin ( E.g Time, Place Of Beginnings ) Origin (e.g time, place of beginnings): The Inca was also known as Tawantinsuyu, first appeared in the Andes region of South America throughout the 12th century A.D, the heterogeneous empire quickly flourished through the military power of their emperors. They had their own culture and pantheist beliefs up until 1438, however, the influences of past settlements and the following ninety five years of expansion caused religious beliefs to change and develop significantly. The Inca conquered neighbouring Andean regions which had their own set of religious beliefs, worshipped deities and had unique practices. Nearly all Andean communities participated in the everyday worship of the forces of nature (including rain, lightning, thunder, the moon and the rising of the sun each day) and venerated the earth s physical features (such as snakes, jaguars, rivers and mountains). The peasants among each allyu (a group of extended families) executed these practices for thousands of years. Each allyu worshipped their ancestors, which they believed to originate from the natural world at sacred places called huacas. The Incas built their own temples, sacred sites, took sacred relics from the locals and held them in the sacred land Cuzco to encourage compliance with the Inca beliefs and accept the supremacy of Inti (the most important Inca deity and sun god). • 43. Erasmus Vs Erasmus The topic of freedom can mean so many things to every person. Theologists, Calvin and Luther, did not think human had freedom of choice, only that God had already laid out a plan for us. Erasmus, on the other hand, disagreed with them and thought that people must have a free will, because God would not punish us for the sins that he predestined us to do. Unlike in Christianity, Buddhism and Hinduism believe in freedom in a sense that there is freedom after life that cannot truly be explained in words. I agree with Erasmus in that everyone has free will, but it is the circumstances in which you live that will help determine the choices you make. Death is also a form of freedom in that there is nothing beyond death, and it should be seen as a neutral. There are many views of freedom depending on your view of life, your religion, or how you were raised, and these circumstances give more probability to certain decisions from the multiple choices always available, but humans also have a lack of freedom due to the pain and suffering during life. From the Christian perspective, the idea of freedom and having free will started when Adam and Eve disobeyed God and ate the forbidden fruit. Throughout time, this became known as the original sin. It has been long debated whether Adam and Eve had the free will to eat the fruit before, or even after eating it. It is said in the Bible that they gained knowledge when they ate the fruit, but knowledge can mean so many things. Not only did ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Paul s Missionary Journeys and Epistle Correlates Paul s Missionary Journeys and Epistle Correlates The missionary journeys of Paul cover a major portion of the Book of the Acts of the Apostles (commonly shortened to Acts). Acts demonstrates, at least in part, how the journeys relate to the writing of the Epistles or letters to various congregations that needed encouragement or some other word from Paul, and when they were written. The three journeys happened in close relation to one another and were meant to spread the Gospel message to the unsaved and encourage those who had come to believe on the Son of Man. The letters were written as an inspiration from the Father to further the understanding of believers regarding the perfect life of a Christian. This papers describes in short form the three missionary journeys of Paul and how they relate, chronologically, to Paul s writing of the epistles. Missionary Journeys The first element of the journeys was who traveled with Paul. He went on the first with Barnabas and Mark. Barnabas was regarded as a coworker and Mark as an apprentice or helper according to Niswonger (1992, 209). The second journey was much longer, as concerns distance, but did not take as much time and was accomplished with Silas. The third journey is a solo one apparently (McGee, 1998). The approximate dates of the three journeys are First from 45 AD to 47 AD, Second from 51 AD to 53 AD and Third from 54 AD to 58 AD (McGee, 1998). Of course all of these dates are somewhat speculative, but they are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Such is the same in Howl. Ginsberg does not spare the innocent reader. When one analyzes the social power of Ginsberg s statements, one can come easily to the conclusion that society was not exactly welcoming to Ginsberg, and he reacted to that through his writing, especially in Howl. The second portion of Howl is commonly considered by critics to be the most complicated for the average mind to comprehend. In this section, nearly every thing is described as a Moloch. Moloch, in mythology was a God to whom children were sacrificed. Now, the term is commonly used to describe anything responsible for destroying innocence. In Part II, Ginsberg describes nearly everything about American culture to be a Moloch. Even society s viewpoints are Molochs. In a way, Ginsberg is calling America itself a Moloch, and then continuing to describe parts of the whole. Moloch whose mind is pure machinery! Moloch whose blood is running money! Moloch whose fingers are ten armies! Moloch whose breast is a cannibal dynamo! Moloch whose ear is a smoking tomb! (Ginsberg 21) America is evil to Ginsberg because of the feelings of hatred and repulsion the society builds in him. The third section of Howl is a striking contrast to the other two parts. ...
