Cultural Difference Essay
Writing an essay on the topic of "Cultural Difference" can be both challenging and fascinating.
The difficulty lies in the vastness and complexity of the subject matter. Cultural differences
encompass a wide range of aspects, including but not limited to language, customs, traditions,
values, beliefs, and social norms. The sheer diversity of cultures across the globe makes it a rich
but intricate topic to explore.
One of the challenges is to navigate through the plethora of information available and decide
which aspects of cultural difference to focus on. It requires thorough research and a deep
understanding of various cultures to present a well-informed and balanced perspective.
Additionally, addressing cultural differences requires a delicate approach to avoid stereotypes or
oversimplifications.
Furthermore, crafting an essay on cultural differences involves the need for sensitivity and
cultural competence. It's crucial to approach the topic with respect and open-mindedness,
acknowledging that cultural practices are often deeply rooted and may be perceived differently
across communities.
Expressing thoughts coherently while maintaining an engaging and informative tone adds
another layer of difficulty. Striking the right balance between providing valuable insights and
avoiding generalizations requires careful consideration and skillful writing.
In conclusion, writing an essay on cultural differences demands time, research, cultural
sensitivity, and effective communication skills. Despite the challenges, exploring this topic
allows for personal growth and a deeper understanding of the world's rich tapestry of cultures.

Taking a Look at a Whooping Cough
What is Whooping cough?
Whooping cough is a bacterial upper respiratory infection that leads to episodes of
violent coughing. The disease got its name because of the characteristic sound that is
made when affected individuals attempt to inhale; the whoop originates from the
inflammation and swelling of the voice box that vibrates when too much air comes in
when one breathes after coughing. (Medline plus) Whooping cough is a very
contagious disease. It spreads through close contact that includes a transferring of
oral secretions or respiratory droplets from one person to another. So it s easily
spread through the cough, especially when people are in close contact, like living in
the same house with a person who has whooping cough. It can also spread through
sneezes or anything that causes a secretion of respiratory fluids. (CDC) the people
whom can be affected are children who have not been immunized or people whose
last shot of the immunization was done ten or more years previously. There is
evidence that suggests the first outbreaks I whooping cough occurred in the 16th
century. The bacterium that causes the infection was not found until the beginning of
the 1900 s.
Why target whooping cough?
Whooping cough is most commonly found in infants. If a child were to obtain
whooping cough within the first three months of his or her life, the infant is highly
likely to be killed by the disease. The reason for this is because of how difficult it is
to identify. It starts out
history of algebra Essay
Unlike geometry, algebra was not developed in Europe. Algebra was actually
discovered (or developed) in the Arab countries along side geometry. Many
mathematicians worked and developed the system of math to be known as the
algebra of today. European countries did not obtain information on algebra until
relatively later years of the 12th century. After algebra was discovered in Europe,
mathematiciansput the information to use in very remarkable ways. Also, algebraic
and geometric ways of thinking were considered to be two separate parts of math and
were not unified until the mid 17th century.
The simplest forms of equations in algebra were actually discovered 2,200 years
before Mohamed was born. Ahmes wrote ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Omar was also a poet, philosopher, and astronomer. Omar s works were translated
in 1851, which was research on Euclid s axioms. In the medieval period, he
expanded on Khwarizmi s and the Greeks mathematic works. He only worked with
cubic equations only and focused on geometric and algebraic solutions of equations.
In 1145AD, Al Khwarizmi s book was translated by Robert Chester, which made it
possible for algebra to be introduced to Europe. After algebra was introduced in
Europe, European mathematicians developed and expanded on algebra concepts.
Even though algebra began in the Arabic countries, once European mathematicians
obtained the information of algebra, they became the leaders of mathematical
discoveries in the world ( Mathematics ).
From the period of 1145AD the late 16th century, many mathematicians developed
on algebraic concepts. However, it was not until the 1680 s that the most
remarkable discoveries were made using algebra. Sir Isaac Newton was a very
famous mathematician, English physicist, astronomer, philosopher, and alchemist.
During his period of study, he used algebra to describe universal gravitation,
develop the laws of motion, found orbits of the planets to be elliptical, discovered
that light was made of particles, discovered the rate of cooling objects, and the
binomial theorem. His most important works were the development of calculus.
However, Newton did not work alone on creating the

Essay On Supraglottic Swallow
Introduction
A supraglottic swallow is a technique used to help someone who has problems
swallowing (dysphagia). Swallowing problems can be a result of certain medical
treatments and conditions, such as head and neck cancer.
This technique is used for people who have problems protecting their airway when
swallowing. The supraglottic swallow helps close the vocal cords when swallowing,
which keeps food from going into the windpipe. This technique can be used with each
swallow, as needed.
What are the risks?
If done correctly, the supraglottic swallow technique is considered safe. However, it
may cause an irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia). The heartbeat usually goes back to

Millions of leased vehicles are turned in each year, providing used car shoppers
with an opportunity to snag a deal on an off lease vehicle. In recent years,
inventory has crept up as manufacturers use affordable lease deals to build sales.
Fat inventories are worrisome and costly to manufacturers, but potentially offer
sweet deals for consumers provided you know where to look for them. About CPO
Vehicles When customers turn in leased deals, most end up on dealer lots for resale.

If you visit the manufacturer s website looking for CPO offers, you may find a
number of warranty changes in place, including extending the powertrain warranty.
Volvo, for instance, extends its powertrain warranty to 100,000 miles from 50,000
miles for its CPO fleet. Similarly, Nissan extends its 60,000 mile powertrain
warranty to 100,000 miles. But the warranty enhancements rarely stop there. Most
used car buyers are looking for some type of maintenance coverage going well
beyond the 90 day, 4,000 mile warranty on older used vehicles. For example,
Volkswagen extends its comprehensive warranty by two years or 24,000 miles,
whichever comes first. They also kick in roadside assistance for two years and
provide a three month SiriusXM satellite radio trial subscription. Mini s CPO deal
is also for two years, but for up to 50,000 miles. 2. Financing Deals It isn t enough
for manufacturers to offer warranties, they need to present financing offers to help
move inventory. These change regularly, usually every month, and may cover
entire CPO inventories or select models. For example, Nissan offers 1.95 percent
financing for 36 months or 3.95 percent financing for 72 months on CPO inventory.
These rates are several points lower than what most banks and some credit unions
offer, and are reserved for customers with top credit. You should know that if you re
not eligible for promotional financing, a loan at a higher rate may still be available.

Essay On Journey Of Faridabad
Journey of Faridabad is a very remarkable study. This city is in a continuous motion
moving from preindustrial to post industrial stage of development and also exploring
its economy, moving primarily from primary and secondary to tertiary and
quaternary. As a result, Faridabad has underwent into dramatic transformations.
Stage 1: Before 1949 Pre Industrial Faridabad
Until 1950 Faridabad was intended to be a marketing centre for milk and vegetables.
The relationship to the surrounding country was less important than the influence of
Delhi as consumption and employment centre.
Stage 2: 1949 2000 Creative Phase of Faridabad as an Industrial Hub
Resettlement of Refugee
After independence, the town became an important centre for the resettlement of
refugees because of India Pakistan partition. They were rehabilitated by Jawaharlal
Nehru as part of the Pakistani Refugee Resettlement Project (PRRP) following
partition in 1947. Also in an attempt to de clog Delhi, many central government
offices were consciously moved to this city. What was previously just a wasteland
was converted into a thriving colony. This was also a big and unique human
experiment, to resettle people (Jain L.C, 1998)

Essay The Invention and Impact of The Computer Mouse
The Invention and Impact of The Computer Mouse
If you ask people to name one of the most important technologies of the twentieth
century, one of the answers would most certainly be the computer. A computer,
however, is not a technology all to itself. Many other technologies went into the
modern home computers of today, including the mouse. Douglas C. Engelbart, a
worker at the SRI (Stanford Research Institute), invented the mouse in 1964.
However, the process of the invention of the mouse was not instantaneous and
without effect on the realm of computing and society. In this paper I will be
examining the problems that had to be overcome and the technologies that had to be
invented for the mouse to become a reality. It also ... Show more content on

That is when Bob Taylor, a representative of NASA, stepped in and collected enough
money from NASA to keep the lab running. Bob Taylor once again helped the lab by
getting more than adequate funding from ARPA (Advanced Research Projects
Agency) to support the work of Engelbart to its conclusion.
During the time when the mouse debuted computers had just arrived into the small
business market. They were still costly and not economically viable for home
computer users. Because of the great expense involved there was no need to cater to
the needs of the general public, which requires user friendly computers. User friendly
means that the computer s operating system and interface are easy to learn. The
change to using the mouse was also uneconomical for computer manufacturers of the
time because there was no demand for them except for the editing of text. Some
computers of the time were equipped with mouse support, specifically the Amstrad
PC 1512, but the mouse remained unpopular due to its limited uses. The first
commercial mouse was not released until 1982.
Hardware and software support is another problem the mouse had to overcome. As
mentioned previously, the mouse was released before most computer systems had
hardware support for it. Therefore, even if the computer used a program that
incorporated a mouse, there was nowhere to connect the mouse with the motherboard.
Also there was no code for the CPU (central processing unit) to understand the signals

Willa Cather The Outlaw Hero
A Living Example of an Outlawed Hero
Nowadays there are numerous parents that design their children s lives and take
vital decisions for them. In Paul s case: A Study in Temperament Willa Cather, the
author, shows the reality of youthful dissatisfactions and the common failure of
families to understand the needs of their children. Paul s character is very
controversial. He is seen by some as a hero because of his ethical goal, while
others think that he is a villain who committed several crimes. In my opinion, he is
more of an outlaw hero , which is a person who takes the wrong actions for the sake
of an ethical purpose. Willa Cather s Paul s case: A Study in Temperament is a story

advice, which is shown in the absence of his mother and brutality of his father, is
the main reason for his immorality. Paul never felt any love or caring from his

Analysis Of The Theater Classroom
I sat in the theater classroom, watching as Ariana stood in front of the class,
practicing her lines. They make us do ten minute practices in front of the class to
try and get the emotions right. Ariana hasn t really been talking to me as much
ever since I gave her a ride home. I can t help but wish she was still trying for some
reason. It s been four days since then, and she sends me texts sometimes, but I still
don t answer her. But she doesn t chase me down the hallway or pick up her pace
when we walk to keep up with me. As she s talking in front of the class I can t help
but admire her beauty. Her long hair brown hair that fades into blonde, her small,
petite body that still has it s curves. Her perfect skin, how cute she looks when she
smiles and shows her teeth. Her big brown eyes that you could easily get lost in,
which is why I usually try not to stare at her. I shake my head, looking away from
her. Why the fuck am I thinking about her like this? She s that annoying girl who
was just a one night fling, the one who wouldn t leave me alone, and now that she
is, I find myself craving for her. I sat back, looking down at my script, trying to
block out her sweet voice. This play is going to be the actual death of me. I don t
know any of my lines and I don t know how everyone is remembering them so well.
My friends found out that I was going to be in the play and they all plan on showing

In this passage, despite narrating from a third person view, Morrison provides
insight into Claudia s thoughts. Morrison reveals that Claudia patiently waited for
her blue eyes, knowing that to have something as wonderful as that happen would
take a long, long time . Through this brief peek into Claudia s mind, Morrison
reveals both Claudia s innocence and the deep self hatred that has been instilled in
her. Claudia s hope that she will eventually get blue eyes speaks to her lack of
maturity. She thinks that she can have anything if she wants it badly enough, when in

Positivism And Paradigmatic Approaches
The practice of qualitative research comprises of many different paradigmatic
approaches. The main three include positivism, interpretive, and critical approaches.
These approaches serve as different ways in which knowledge is socially collected
and analyzed. Now, each paradigmatic approach comprises of unique traits, some
which are similar to each one another and others that are exclusive to a specific
approach. These similarities and differences will be examined below. To begin, the
main approach used in qualitative researchis positivism. The Positivism Approach is
rooted in philosophy and used to pursue casual explanations by generating questions
as hypotheses, otherwise known as theorytesting. Positivism uses the idea that there...

In examining these relationships, Symbolic Interactionalism attaches meanings and
attitudes to certain people and objects. Another sub approach branching from the
Interpretive Strand is the theory of Dramaturgy. Dramaturgy figuratively compares
the behavior of the individual or self to that of a theatrical play. This concept
emphasizes the presence of a front stage (public stage) and backstage (private stage).
Depending on the stage, the individual undergoes an impression management which
produces a distinctive performance. This impression management is a continuous
individual phenomenon. In essence, Dramaturgy is used to analyze how individual
behaviors change in relation to different surroundings. A third sub approach of the
interpretive approach is Phenomenology. Phenomenology focuses on the human
consciousness and how it is experienced. Rather than its presence being objective in
nature, (as seen by positivist), phenomenologists argue that the human consciousness
is dependent on specific circumstances and is deliberate. The main goal of
phenomenology is to examine how individuals experience aspects of social life and
living it also stresses the fact these experiences are different for each individual. The
last sub approach belonging to the Interpretative Strand is Ethnomethodology. Similar
to Phenomenology, Ethnomethodology studies how individuals process their

Pros And Cons Of Gun Control On A College Campus
Gun control is a major topic in today s society and It is broken into many
subcategories that all have different arguments and views. A few examples are The
Second Amendment is not an unlimited right to own guns, more gun control laws
would reduce gun deaths and more gun control leads to fewer suicides in the United
States. The guncontrol category I am focusing on in this essay is, should teachers and
students be able to carry firearmson a college campus. I chose this since I am
currently attending college and this could have an effect directly on me or ASU.
The idea of teachers and staff being able to carry firearms on a college campus has
come up many times in the media recently due to the rise in mass shootings. Many
states are now looking at this problem and voting on it. This topic is always
heavily debated due to the many different sides and varying beliefs on gun control
and safety. The NRA (National Rifle Association) has a heavy influence on the
united states and who should be allowed guns and what legislation is passed. The
gun control topic of firearms on a college campus has become politicized and is
commonly drawn into political debates and has become a political tool for winning
elections. Some states have already voted and taken action on this new idea and
have allowed staff to carry guns on campuses and in cars parked and locked in secure
parking lots. Another major idea that is constantly brought up with campus carry and
firearms on campuses is student
Notes on Nationalism- A2 Government and Politics
Nationalism
The nature of the nation and the differences between nations and states.
A nation can be defined as a group of people who consider themselves to have
common circumstances at birth. These common circumstances are strong enough for
them to adopt collective goals based on their national identity. Nationalism is
therefore an emotional phenomenon felt by the people.
There are a number of typical circumstances of birth that may give rise to nationhood
including having a single common ancestor, a common historical experience,
common culture, ethnic identity, geographical proximity, religion, attachment to
territory.
A state is a political reality. It either exists or it doesn t. In contrast to the concept of
nation, it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Civic nationalism is much more inclusive as it s the citizenship which joins people,
and citizenship can be achieved by anyone. * Ethnic nationalism: nationhood is
defined by language, religion, customs and traditions. According to ethnic
nationalists, it is not the state that creates the nation but the nation, which creates the
state. The glue that holds people together is not shared political rights, but pre
existing ethnic characteristics. Ethnic nationalism is more exclusive as it believes
that not everyone can become a part of a particular nation state.
The nation state and its alleged benefits
Maintains law and order within the territory
Secures the state against external threats
Develops and maintains useful relations with other states
Regulates the currency, the operation of markets and the economy in general.
Maintains the welfare of its people
Promotes economic and social progress
Protects and improves the physical environment of the country.
Relationship between nationalism and liberalism * Liberal nationalists demand that
every recognisable nation has the right to freedom from subjection to the rule of
other nations and states. * Liberalism demanded that every individual should be free,
thus so should be every individual state. * The freedom of nations and the freedom
of individuals were inextricable linked, and individuals could not be free unless the
Comparing Canby s Tender Mercies
Tender Mercies is about Mac Sledge who a country singer with a troubled life. He
is suffering from alcoholism and has given up on relationships. Horton Foote

Mac Sledge has a daughter from a previous marriage to country singer, Dixie. The
daughter, Sue Anne shows up to rekindle the father daughter relationship. Rosa
Lee and her son Sonny help Mac get back on his feet and start a new life with them.
Rosa is a hotel owner and a widow whose husband died in combat in Vietnam. I

big part in this movie. I am Catholic, but once I started praying and talking God, my
life s perspective changed. Just like Mac, I saw that my life can be better and

Even though, Sue Anne and Mac s father and daughter relationship was the greatest,

Can Adults Get Acne Essay
Can Adults Get Acne? When when we think of acne, we often imagine an
adolescent. After all, puberty is a common time for acne to appear. We are then led
to believe that once we achieve adulthood, acne can no longer affect us. Yet, that is
not true for everyone. Adult Acne can Impact Anyone Many people regain a clear
complexion once they reach adulthood. Yet, for others acne continues to hold them.
Some people may even experience acne for the first time during their adult years. It
is not unheard of to experience acne in your 30 s, 40 s, and even 50 s. The Rhyme

discomfort from some of the treatments. If discomfort does not get you, the price

Foreign Direct Investment By Multinational Corporations
Developing countries lag behind the rest of the world in many aspects of life
including economy, education, and welfare. Achieving progress in any of these three
areas is important in getting these countries on par or at least closer to the standard
of living present in developed nations. Numerous of hypotheses have been posed to
tackle and address these issues. This paper examines the aspect of improving the
economy and whether or not foreign direct investmentby multinational corporations
would benefit developing countries. Some may argue, including the renowned artist
Frida Kahlo that foreign direct investments may actually lead to a decline in culture
and exploitation. However, this paper argues that the economy in developing
countries could be significantly improved by properly introducing foreign direct
investment by multinational corporations. Foreign direct investment (FDI) made by
multinational corporations would spur the economy in developing countries which in
turn would lay the groundwork for improvements in other important aspects including
education and welfare without a decline in culture and exploitation of citizens.
Developing countries are stuck in a cycle of poverty that can t be broken from within
the domestic economy due to an insufficient supply of investment available in these
countries to raise the productivity and income levels of workers. The only way to
break the cycle of poverty is through investment from multinational corporations. FDI

Puss In Boots
A child s imagination is a powerful and unique thing. Not only is it used to make up
stories and games, but it is a key factor in their creative thoughts and can lead to the
type of education or career that is offered to them. Fairy Tales have been a major
part of kid s lives ever since they became popular. Fairy tales have withstood this test

them all the fairy tales in the book. Puss in boots is a well known story that talks

the world. For example, many people might say the cat and The Marquis of

Character Analysis Of Ivanhoe
Michael Josephson once stated, People of character do the right thing even if no
one else does, not because they think it will change the world but because they
refuse to be changed by the world. (whatwillmatter.com) Character is defined as
the mental and moral qualities distinctive to an individual. It is what defines you
and how you act, even when nobody is around. In Ivanhoe, by Sir Walter Scott,
many characters play a key role throughout the story. They all have extremely
unique personalities and each of them are gifted with different talents and abilities.
Some of the characters are gifted in fighting, while others are gifted in elegance or
beauty. I have become very fond of several of the characters in Ivanhoe, such as:
The Black Knight, Ivanhoe, Rowena, Locksley, and Rebecca. However, I admire
Rebecca s character the most. Rebecca had a large role in the book, which was
impressive for a woman during this time. Many loved her because she was
attractive and well educated. Rebecca was described as, endowed with knowledge
as with beauty ( Scott 284). Her father, Isaac of York, was a Jewish man. Therefore,
she participated in many of the Jewish traditions and was steadfast in her beliefs.
Although Rebecca s father was a greedy coward, Rebecca appeared to be a
stunning young lady that possessed characteristics of generosity, courage, and
love. When she was threatened with violence, or shamed for her religion, she
responded with humble boldness. Rebecca s bold character often showed when
she always tried to do the right thing. I admire Rebecca the most because of her
selfless, beautiful, and faithful character. Rebecca s selflessness presented itself
through her adoration of medicine and willingness to heal those in need. She even
gave medical treatment to a poor man for free because she did not care for riches.
She cared for the needs of others. At the tournament of Ashby de la Zouche, Ivanhoe
was terribly injured from falling off his horse. He was immediately taken into the
care of Rebecca. She put Ivanhoe before herself and cared for his injuries, despite the
consequence. While Rebecca was tending to Ivanhoe s wounds, she fell in love with
him. Although he had his eyes set on another

Psychology viewed as an old discipline. Psychology can trace its roots to the 5

we grapple with the same questions they attempted to answer. On the other hand, we
could view psychology as emerging when philosophy and physiology merged to

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of
Democracy
Scholars have defined the democracy as the government of the people, for the people,
and by the people. People, in this type of government, are said to be the ruler
themselves. Representatives are elected by the adult nationals through the voting
process. Hence, it is the government of the people. By contrast, dictatorship is the
type of governmentin which power is centralized. One single individual has all the
power in hands, and the people have no role in government affairs. Governments in
America, England, India, and Turkey are some of the examples of democracy, and
governments in North Korea, Cuba etc. are examples of dictatorship.
Democracy has three key advantages. First, people in this type of government have
much freedom. They have the right to express their views, and criticize the
government through media. People can even dismiss the government if they find it
inefficient. They are, therefore, very powerful in this form of government and have
an important role to play. For instance, in 2011, the people of Tunisia went to streets
and held massive demonstrations against their incompetent government to resign.
After several weeks of demonstrations, the government of Tunisia eventually resigned.
Secondly, in democracy, the government treats all the nationals equally regardless of
their gender, race, religion, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

related problems has not been relieved in the recent decade, although college

As a matter of fact, binge drinking would not necessarily lead to negative
consequences. For example, consider the individual who perceives that drinking
alcohol is likely to lead to physical harm. This individual is perhaps less likely to
engage in behaviors after drinking that are highly related to experiencing negative
consequences relative to individuals who do not hold that belief (root). Binge
drinking in campus is universally recognized as misconduct, but the degree of its
consequence is determined by the drinking belief of the drinkers. In certain
occasions, such as birthday parties, binge drinking is inevitable. But if the college
students hold the drinking belief that any immoral, illegal or dangerous activities
should be avoided after binge drinking with their friends, in all probability, they
would not suffer from the potential negative consequences. Additionally, when there
exist a few fellows with proper alcohol awareness among the drinkers in a party,
they can help lower the risk of alcohol related hazards of their friends in the party

Positive Relationship With A Teacher
spends more per person on school education than most developed countries and yet
we are behind most of the countries in the math and science abilities. As of January of
this year, education officials of Alabama have released a list of seventy five schools,
mostly high schools, are considered failing (Crain 2017). According to decades of
research, ineffective teaching of teachers is the biggest problem in public schools
across the nation. Bad teachers don t understand the importance and the impact of
having a good teacher student relationship. Positive teacher student relationships
include the presence of having closeness, warmth and positivity with the students in
the classroom (Gallagher 2013). By having a good teacher student relationship, it
positively impacts the student s social and academic outcomes. Positive relationships
with teachers help students with developing self esteem, self concept and enable
students to feel safe in their learning environments. This positive relationship with a
teacher is specifically effective in high poverty urban schools. Students that live in
poverty who have a strong teacher student relationship have higher academic
achievement and more positive social motional adjustment than those who don t have
a positive relationship with their teacher. Studies have found that the teacher student

A Critical Analysis Of Blanche Williams By Tennessee
Williams
At the onset of the Play, Dubois arrives in New Orleans where she intends to stay
with her estranged sister, Stella Kowalski. There is something timid about her
demeanor, characterized by great uncertainty (Williams 15), suggesting the
immediate apprehension Blanche experiences subsequently after arriving in New
Orleans. Consequently, Williams immediately places an emphasis on the
significance of her apprehension which begins to unveil itself as the narrative
progresses. Prior to illustrating this, it is important to understand Blanche s
rationale for leaving her ancestral lands. As aforementioned earlier, the Civil War
and the subsequent cultural transformation of the United States alienated women
like Dubois; moreover, ill equipped to deviate from the rigid conservative ideals
that Southern Belles were raised with followed by the incumbency to abandon her
formerly held ideals in the midst of cultural change, Dubois is compelled to
abandon the decrepit ideals of the Old South and to establish a new life for herself.
However, this proves to be a difficult endeavor for Dubois as she embodies the
vestiges of the Old South in New Orleans which forms her identity. Firstly, racist
attitudes towards those who were not of white skin colour dominated the Old South;
moreover, Dubois echoes her intolerance towards other races in several instances. At
the outset of the play, Williams introduces the notion of racial tolerance in New
Orleans through the stage direction of an easy intermingling of races (Williams 13).
Moreover, Dubois is immediately confronted by this intermingling (alien to her) as
she takes notice of a black woman nonchalantly and joyously conversing with Eunice
Hubbell, a white woman. In the Old South, this would have been unheard of as
plantation workers were expected to work diligently and without question. Dubois
still conforms to the Southern Belle archetype as she expects the black woman to
find Stella Kowalskifor her on the basis of skin colour. This event lays the foundation
for her psychological dilapidation as it is the initial experience that questions her
psyche and everything it believes. The culmination of racial tension in Dubois psyche
ultimately impels her to express her disdain for
Prospective Payment System Essay
Prospective payment system is a method of reimbursement in which payment rates
for healthcare services are established in advance for a specific time period. These
rates are based on the average usage of resources for those certain types of healthcare.
The prospective payment system puts the liability on the healthcare organization
because the cost of the healthcare procedure can be more expensive than the average
cost. Therefore, healthcare organizations need to be methodical with the way the treat
their patients, use as little resources for the best quality of care. There are many
prospective payment systems; there is inpatient, acute care, inpatient psychiatric
facility, home health, outpatient, long term care, rehabilitation, and nursing facilities.
In addition to the different prospective payment systems, diagnosis related groups
monitor quality of care and the uses of services in a hospital. Diagnosis related groups

to the acute distress of young children separated from their primary caregivers.
(Barth, 2005) The quality of early attachment relationships is correlated with future
personality and brain development. The Attachment Theoryis a foundation theory,
developed by Bowlby. It focusses on the form, quality, and strengths of human
attachments made in early life and their effects on development in pro social
behaviors (Tuner, 2011, p.30). Practitioners have found that the importance of
forming a bond with a child from birth has the possibility to shape the life of a person.

The secure style happens most often when infant is separated for the caregiver and is
trying to regain the closeness, by coming back together with the caregiver. The
avoidant style is represented by the infant ignoring the caregiver when the when they
leave the presents of the infant. Then once the caregiver returns there is no response
from the infant. In this stage the infant has become accustom to being ignored. The
resistant ambivalent style is characterized by a preoccupation or fixation on the
caregiver in which the caregiver is alternately sought for comfort and rejected. This
shows that the needs of the infant are not being meet. Lastly in the disorganized style
it is often seen when the infant has been mistreated by the caregiver. In this case
infants my have experienced trauma early on. (Hardy, 2007) The Attachment Theory

College Level Lexile Analysis
My mom has always been a huge reader. As a child growing up I remember her
reading a lot, which probably influenced me into reading. As I got older and started
to learn how to read she would always encourage me into reading and would say
something like All the smartest people in the world like to read . So at a young age
I grew into loving the images that were put in my head through reading.
Previously in Primary School and all the way up to Junior High, me as well as all
of the other students would have to take tests that would test our reading lexiles. A
reading lexile told you the level of books you should be reading. After you got your
lexile you would go find books with a sticker on them that matched your lexile. In
4th grade I had an 8th graders lexile, in 6th I had a High School lexile, and by the
time I was in 8th grade the tests were saying that I had a college level lexile. When I
was younger I hated that my mom always made me read but looking back now I feel
very grateful for the pressure she was putting on me. If she never did then I would
not be enjoying the books I am now or be as acute in reading as I am now.
As a matter of fact after every book that I would finish, I would often bring it to my
mom and tell her I was done to get praise from her. I would even ask her to read the
book if I deemed it good enough for her. I don t ... Show more content on

Plato vs. Aristotle
Plato vs. Aristotle
Plato and Aristotle, two philosophers in the 4th century, hold polar views on politics
and philosophy in general. This fact is very cleverly illustrated by Raphael s School
of Athens (1510 11; Stanza della Segnatura,
Vatican), where Plato is portrayed looking up to the higher forms; and Aristotleis
pointing down because he supports the natural sciences. In a discussion of politics,
the stand point of each philosopher becomes an essential factor. It is not coincidental
that Plato states in The Republic that Philosopher Rulers who possess knowledge of
the good should be the governors in a city state. His strong interest in metaphysics is
demonstrated in The Republic various times: for example, the similes of the ... Show

It is a separation of power amongst three classes Rulers, Auxiliaries, Commoners that
makes the most of each person s natural abilities and strives for the good of the
community. The point is to create a harmonious unity amongst the three classes
which will lead to the greater good of the community and, consequently, each
individual. The three classes are a product of different aptitude levels for certain
tasks amid various individuals. Plato assigns different political roles to different
members of each class. It appears that the only classes that are allowed to participate
in government are the Auxiliaries and, of course, the
Philosopher Rulers. The lower class does not partake in politics because they are
not mentally able. In other words, they do not understand the concept of the forms.
Thus, it is better to allow the Philosophers, who do have this knowledge, to lead
them. Providing food and abode for the Guardians is the only governmental
responsibility the lower class has. The Auxiliaries are in charge of the military,
police, and executive duties. Ruling and making laws is reserved for the Philosopher
Rulers whose actions are all intended for the good of the state. To ensure that public
good continues to be foremost on each
Ruler s agenda, the Rulers live in community housing, hold wives/children in

received a phone call from Mr Jones, requesting a quote to design and build a
workshop on his property. Fred asked Mr Jones what size and type of shed he
would like, when he wanted work to commence, and when he wanted it completed.
Mr Jones told him that he required a large shed, big enough to conduct his furniture

In addition he wanted a separate office space large enough for three people. He
requested that the shed be made of high quality materials, because twice in the

Real Work by Richard Rodriguez is about a young man struggling with self
confidence. He seeks to build his self esteem by participating in real manual labor
over a summer job. When Rodriguez is offered a job working on a construction
site he doesn t hesitate to say yes. His father had always told him he could never
understand the hardships of Real work , and Rodriguez felt that completing this
summer job would make his father proud of him, and in many ways consider him
to be a Real man . Richard Rodriguez was raised in America, unlike his family. He
never really knew anything different. This made it very easy for his father to tell him

The father figure depicted in this story could be viewed in a few different ways. At
first I thought the authors father was kind of a stuck up, rude man, who was sour
about the advantages of living a normal life in American society. I felt that he had
made his son feel like he could never do what he had down. If a parental figure
makes you feel like that, there tends to be a reaction. It could be positive or
negative. In Rodriguez s case he took what his father said, and harnessed it into a
positive learning experience. When I thought about more in depth, it became clear
that Rodriguez s father wasn t putting his son down at all. He was simply explaining
to his son how different their worlds where. He was stressing that although his son
had more opportunity, and was presented with much greater potential to be excellent,
that the work he did growing up was much harder, and tough than most people
realize. His father was just making it known that in his working years he did not
have many options as to career choices. But on the other hand I can easily see why
the author felt that his father had challenged him. Much like I felt my father was
challenging me. Rodriguez felt like he needed to prove that he could perform the
same task that his fathers use to do to provide for their families. Working with you re
your hands, completing messy, strenuous, sometimes painful jobs was almost a part

Essay On Fruit Firmness

Determination Of Fruit Firmness
Introduction
The development of sensors to measure fruit internal quality variable is one of the
challenges of post harvest technology. Several variables can currently be measured,
including sugar content, firmness and internal disorders.
Fruit quality is related to both internal variables (firmness, sugar content, acid content
and internal effect) and external variables (shape, size, external defects and damage).
Increasing consumer demand for high quality has led to the development of optical,
acoustic, and mechanical sensors that determines this quality.
Fruit firmness is one of the most important quality variables; it is an indirect
measurement of ripeness and its accurate assessment ... Show more content on

The Penitent Magdalene Analysis
Artemisia Gentileschi is unarguably a key player in the acceptance of women
artists in a previously male dominated field. She was the first female member of
the Academia del Disegno also known as the Academy of Design. This was a high
honor for a woman of her day. Overcoming many hardships in her relationships, and
even drawing inspiration from them, she became known for the excellence and the
unique way she portrayed popular subjects in her artwork. Contemporary art critics
have taken notice of her genius and talent in paving roads in an exclusively male
field, and for the feminist perspective she had that was ahead of her time. Artemisia
was born on July 8, 1593 to Orazio Gentileschi and Prudentia Montone. (Bio.com)

Here in Florence she encountered the Tuscan style of painting and completed her
work The Penitent Magdalene in 1620. Her subject, Mary Magdalene, who is
portrayed in this painting as a wealthy woman of Artemisia s time, is a character
from the New Testament of the Bible. There is not many details of her life that are
known, but what we do know is that she was a prostitute, who changed her ways
when she met Jesus. This painting is called The Penitent Magdalene, but it could
instead be called The Conversion of Magdalene, because this painting seems to
capture the moment she decided to change her life around. While she was in
Florence, Artemisia had many wealthy families commission her to create artwork
for them, and many think that the Medici family commissioned her for this
particular painting. (Koen, Lisa) It is obvious by Magdalene s expensive dress and
exposed shoulders that she is a fallen woman . Her posture also shows her penitence,
and the jar of ointment in the bottom right hand corner is a signature attribute of
Magdalene. Artemisia s skill with her medium is apparent is the rich texture of
Magdalen s garment, and in the contrast between her and the background. There are
a few theories as to why Artemisia would choose to depict Mary Magdalene. Mary
Garrard in her book Artemisia Gentileschi Around 1622: The Shaping and Reshaping
of an Artist s Identity (2001) has proposed the following about how Artemisia might
have connected with this particular biblical character:
Both Artemisia and Mary Magdalene were stigmatized as sexually promiscuous in
both cases on trumped up evidence and both had reputations as sinful women ...One
can imagine that she might have identified both with her troubled character s desire
to escape the confinement of luxury she found restrictive, and stifling, and, perhaps,
with the Magdalene s yearning to move onto a higher spiritual plane. (Garrard, Mary
Han China And Rome Comparison Essay
Similarities shared between the Han dynasty and the Roman empire were the
amount of years both empires lasted, which was more than 400 years with the
Roman empire lasting some decades longer. Their governments were also very
similar, and although the Roman empire had a Republic, it was only a Republic in
name and really functioned as an Absolute Monarchy like the Han dynasty. Their
economy both depended on agriculture, so the source of wealth was based on land
ownership, and the government revenues were based on a percentage tax on the
annual harvest. They both had roads built to unify the empires and crucial regions
by improving communications, trade, access to resources, and military movement.
In the area of family and society, both lived by a patriarchy and fathers were revered
by their families, their households had shrines dedicated to their ancestors and to
ensure good fortune on the living they held rituals. Both empires had rituals and
themes that ensured loyalty to the empire, as well as being exposed to new religions...

The heartland of the Han dynasty, compared to that of the Roman empire, was
significantly larger and more cohesive, both geographically and culturally. The Han
dynasty followed the philosophies of Confucianism which focused on bonds
between people to ensure conformity and peace within society. They believed in
living a virtuous life and the rewards that came with it. A major difference between
the Han and the Roman was that the people they conquered were integrated into their
society both culturally and biologically. Confucianism and Buddhist ideology,
backed by the emperor s power and armies, is what held the empire together. Another
major difference between the two empires is that once the Han dynasty was

Money And Price Level Essay
CHAPTER TWO
LITERATURE REVIEW
2.1 Introduction
The relationship between money supply and price level is very influential topic in
the field of macroeconomic literature, which has received greater attention among
government agencies, policy makers and researchers. This topic has been
continuously discussed in the economic society since 16th century. The general price
level of every economy is being continuously reported to be high from 16th century
to present 21st century except some years. These higher price levels compelled the
economists to carry out the study on whether over money supply are responsible to
cause inflation or there are any other reasons responsible for high price or inflation.
The economists have spent a lot of time in finding the causes of higher prices in the
economy and reached the conclusion that higher prices are caused by different factors
like unnecessary money supply, higher income, high wage rate, scarcity of
commodities, increase in cost of production, international reasons, institutional factors
etc. However, unnecessary and over money supply has been taken as the influential
factor responsible to cause inflation or higher price in the economy by most of the
economists in the world.
Any economy should bear the high social and economic cost of inflation as there is
no price stability. Over the past two decades, the policy makers are much worried
with the instability of prices keeping in mind of the negative influences of rising
price level in the

  • 2. Taking a Look at a Whooping Cough What is Whooping cough? Whooping cough is a bacterial upper respiratory infection that leads to episodes of violent coughing. The disease got its name because of the characteristic sound that is made when affected individuals attempt to inhale; the whoop originates from the inflammation and swelling of the voice box that vibrates when too much air comes in when one breathes after coughing. (Medline plus) Whooping cough is a very contagious disease. It spreads through close contact that includes a transferring of oral secretions or respiratory droplets from one person to another. So it s easily spread through the cough, especially when people are in close contact, like living in the same house with a person who has whooping cough. It can also spread through sneezes or anything that causes a secretion of respiratory fluids. (CDC) the people whom can be affected are children who have not been immunized or people whose last shot of the immunization was done ten or more years previously. There is evidence that suggests the first outbreaks I whooping cough occurred in the 16th century. The bacterium that causes the infection was not found until the beginning of the 1900 s. Why target whooping cough? Whooping cough is most commonly found in infants. If a child were to obtain whooping cough within the first three months of his or her life, the infant is highly likely to be killed by the disease. Many mathematicians worked and developed the system of math to be known as the algebra of today. European countries did not obtain information on algebra until relatively later years of the 12th century. After algebra was discovered in Europe, mathematiciansput the information to use in very remarkable ways. Also, algebraic and geometric ways of thinking were considered to be two separate parts of math and were not unified until the mid 17th century. In the medieval period, he expanded on Khwarizmi s and the Greeks mathematic works. He only worked with cubic equations only and focused on geometric and algebraic solutions of equations. In 1145AD, Al Khwarizmi s book was translated by Robert Chester, which made it possible for algebra to be introduced to Europe. From the period of 1145AD the late 16th century, many mathematicians developed on algebraic concepts. However, it was not until the 1680 s that the most remarkable discoveries were made using algebra. • 6. Cmo Case Study Millions of leased vehicles are turned in each year, providing used car shoppers with an opportunity to snag a deal on an off lease vehicle. In recent years, inventory has crept up as manufacturers use affordable lease deals to build sales. Fat inventories are worrisome and costly to manufacturers, but potentially offer sweet deals for consumers provided you know where to look for them. About CPO Vehicles When customers turn in leased deals, most end up on dealer lots for resale. A much smaller number may head to auction. So called off lease vehicles may look like other used cars and for all intents and purposes they are. But they also represent inventory manufacturers must move, otherwise dealer lots fill to overflowing and prices... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If you visit the manufacturer s website looking for CPO offers, you may find a number of warranty changes in place, including extending the powertrain warranty. Volvo, for instance, extends its powertrain warranty to 100,000 miles from 50,000 miles for its CPO fleet. Similarly, Nissan extends its 60,000 mile powertrain warranty to 100,000 miles. But the warranty enhancements rarely stop there. Most used car buyers are looking for some type of maintenance coverage going well beyond the 90 day, 4,000 mile warranty on older used vehicles. For example, Volkswagen extends its comprehensive warranty by two years or 24,000 miles, whichever comes first. They also kick in roadside assistance for two years and provide a three month SiriusXM satellite radio trial subscription. Mini s CPO deal is also for two years, but for up to 50,000 miles. 2. Financing Deals It isn t enough for manufacturers to offer warranties, they need to present financing offers to help move inventory. These change regularly, usually every month, and may cover entire CPO inventories or select models. For example, Nissan offers 1.95 percent financing for 36 months or 3.95 percent financing for 72 months on CPO inventory. These rates are several points lower than what most banks and some credit unions offer, and are reserved for customers with top credit. You should know that if you re not eligible for promotional financing, a loan at a higher rate may still be available. Brands such as Mercedes Benz

Essay The Invention and Impact of The Computer Mouse The Invention and Impact of The Computer Mouse If you ask people to name one of the most important technologies of the twentieth century, one of the answers would most certainly be the computer. A computer, however, is not a technology all to itself. Many other technologies went into the modern home computers of today, including the mouse. Douglas C. Engelbart, a worker at the SRI (Stanford Research Institute), invented the mouse in 1964. However, the process of the invention of the mouse was not instantaneous and without effect on the realm of computing and society. Bob Taylor once again helped the lab by getting more than adequate funding from ARPA (Advanced Research Projects Agency) to support the work of Engelbart to its conclusion. During the time when the mouse debuted computers had just arrived into the small business market. They were still costly and not economically viable for home computer users. Because of the great expense involved there was no need to cater to the needs of the general public, which requires user friendly computers. User friendly means that the computer s operating system and interface are easy to learn. The change to using the mouse was also uneconomical for computer manufacturers of the time because there was no demand for them except for the editing of text. Some computers of the time were equipped with mouse support, specifically the Amstrad PC 1512, but the mouse remained unpopular due to its limited uses. The first commercial mouse was not released until 1982. Hardware and software support is another problem the mouse had to overcome. As mentioned previously, the mouse was released before most computer systems had hardware support for it. Therefore, even if the computer used a program that incorporated a mouse, there was nowhere to connect the mouse with the motherboard. Also there was no code for the CPU (central processing unit) to understand the signals

Paul s character is very controversial. He is seen by some as a hero because of his ethical goal, while others think that he is a villain who committed several crimes. In my opinion, he is more of an outlaw hero , which is a person who takes the wrong actions for the sake of an ethical purpose. The main improper action that he did to achieve his goal, was stealing money from the bank to enjoy his first few days in New York. It is considered to be unethical, because he took the easy way to get money rather than working for more hours to save money for his journey in New York. The lack of parental advice, which is shown in the absence of his mother and brutality of his father, is the main reason for his immorality. Paul never felt any love or caring from his father; he just knew that his father wanted him to live an ordinary life like his neighbors. He happened to be the young man who daily held up to Paul as a model, and after whom it was his father s dearest hope that he would pattern (Cather 97).He never asked Paul about his ambitions and what he would do with his future life. Another sub approach branching from the Interpretive Strand is the theory of Dramaturgy. Dramaturgy figuratively compares the behavior of the individual or self to that of a theatrical play. This concept emphasizes the presence of a front stage (public stage) and backstage (private stage). Depending on the stage, the individual undergoes an impression management which produces a distinctive performance. This impression management is a continuous individual phenomenon. In essence, Dramaturgy is used to analyze how individual behaviors change in relation to different surroundings. A third sub approach of the interpretive approach is Phenomenology. Phenomenology focuses on the human consciousness and how it is experienced. Rather than its presence being objective in nature, (as seen by positivist), phenomenologists argue that the human consciousness is dependent on specific circumstances and is deliberate. The main goal of phenomenology is to examine how individuals experience aspects of social life and living it also stresses the fact these experiences are different for each individual. Character Analysis Of Ivanhoe Michael Josephson once stated, People of character do the right thing even if no one else does, not because they think it will change the world but because they refuse to be changed by the world. (whatwillmatter.com) Character is defined as the mental and moral qualities distinctive to an individual. It is what defines you and how you act, even when nobody is around. In Ivanhoe, by Sir Walter Scott, many characters play a key role throughout the story. They all have extremely unique personalities and each of them are gifted with different talents and abilities. Some of the characters are gifted in fighting, while others are gifted in elegance or beauty. I have become very fond of several of the characters in Ivanhoe, such as: The Black Knight, Ivanhoe, Rowena, Locksley, and Rebecca. However, I admire Rebecca s character the most. Rebecca had a large role in the book, which was impressive for a woman during this time. Many loved her because she was attractive and well educated. Rebecca was described as, endowed with knowledge as with beauty ( Scott 284). Her father, Isaac of York, was a Jewish man. Therefore, she participated in many of the Jewish traditions and was steadfast in her beliefs. Although Rebecca s father was a greedy coward, Rebecca appeared to be a stunning young lady that possessed characteristics of generosity, courage, and love. When she was threatened with violence, or shamed for her religion, she responded with humble boldness. Rebecca s bold character often showed when she always tried to do the right thing. I admire Rebecca the most because of her selfless, beautiful, and faithful character. Rebecca s selflessness presented itself through her adoration of medicine and willingness to heal those in need. She even gave medical treatment to a poor man for free because she did not care for riches. She cared for the needs of others. At the tournament of Ashby de la Zouche, Ivanhoe was terribly injured from falling off his horse. He was immediately taken into the care of Rebecca. • 32. What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Democracy Scholars have defined the democracy as the government of the people, for the people, and by the people. People, in this type of government, are said to be the ruler themselves. Representatives are elected by the adult nationals through the voting process. Hence, it is the government of the people. By contrast, dictatorship is the type of governmentin which power is centralized. One single individual has all the power in hands, and the people have no role in government affairs. Governments in America, England, India, and Turkey are some of the examples of democracy, and governments in North Korea, Cuba etc. are examples of dictatorship. Democracy has three key advantages. First, people in this type of government have much freedom. They have the right to express their views, and criticize the government through media. People can even dismiss the government if they find it inefficient. They are, therefore, very powerful in this form of government and have an important role to play. For instance, in 2011, the people of Tunisia went to streets and held massive demonstrations against their incompetent government to resign. After several weeks of demonstrations, the government of Tunisia eventually resigned. Binge drinking in campus is universally recognized as misconduct, but the degree of its consequence is determined by the drinking belief of the drinkers. The only thing different about James s face was the single tear that rolled down his cheek and hung on the cliff of his chin amongst his stubble. As it fell from his face, his body smashed forward into the wooden table. And in that moment I felt completely alone. • 37. A Critical Analysis Of Blanche Williams By Tennessee Williams At the onset of the Play, Dubois arrives in New Orleans where she intends to stay with her estranged sister, Stella Kowalski. There is something timid about her demeanor, characterized by great uncertainty (Williams 15), suggesting the immediate apprehension Blanche experiences subsequently after arriving in New Orleans. Consequently, Williams immediately places an emphasis on the significance of her apprehension which begins to unveil itself as the narrative progresses. Prior to illustrating this, it is important to understand Blanche s rationale for leaving her ancestral lands. As aforementioned earlier, the Civil War and the subsequent cultural transformation of the United States alienated women like Dubois; moreover, ill equipped to deviate from the rigid conservative ideals that Southern Belles were raised with followed by the incumbency to abandon her formerly held ideals in the midst of cultural change, Dubois is compelled to abandon the decrepit ideals of the Old South and to establish a new life for herself. However, this proves to be a difficult endeavor for Dubois as she embodies the vestiges of the Old South in New Orleans which forms her identity. Firstly, racist attitudes towards those who were not of white skin colour dominated the Old South; moreover, Dubois echoes her intolerance towards other races in several instances. At the outset of the play, Williams introduces the notion of racial tolerance in New Orleans through the stage direction of an easy intermingling of races (Williams 13). Moreover, Dubois is immediately confronted by this intermingling (alien to her) as she takes notice of a black woman nonchalantly and joyously conversing with Eunice Hubbell, a white woman. In the Old South, this would have been unheard of as plantation workers were expected to work diligently and without question. Dubois still conforms to the Southern Belle archetype as she expects the black woman to find Stella Kowalskifor her on the basis of skin colour. This event lays the foundation for her psychological dilapidation as it is the initial experience that questions her psyche and everything it believes. The culmination of racial tension in Dubois psyche ultimately impels her to express her disdain for

Essay On Fruit Firmness Practical 4 Determination Of Fruit Firmness Introduction The development of sensors to measure fruit internal quality variable is one of the challenges of post harvest technology. Several variables can currently be measured, including sugar content, firmness and internal disorders. Fruit quality is related to both internal variables (firmness, sugar content, acid content and internal effect) and external variables (shape, size, external defects and damage). Increasing consumer demand for high quality has led to the development of optical, acoustic, and mechanical sensors that determines this quality. Fruit firmness is one of the most important quality variables; it is an indirect measurement of ripeness and its accurate assessment ... • 50. The Penitent Magdalene Analysis Artemisia Gentileschi is unarguably a key player in the acceptance of women artists in a previously male dominated field. She was the first female member of the Academia del Disegno also known as the Academy of Design. This was a high honor for a woman of her day. Overcoming many hardships in her relationships, and even drawing inspiration from them, she became known for the excellence and the unique way she portrayed popular subjects in her artwork. Contemporary art critics have taken notice of her genius and talent in paving roads in an exclusively male field, and for the feminist perspective she had that was ahead of her time. Artemisia was born on July 8, 1593 to Orazio Gentileschi and Prudentia Montone. (Bio.com) Prudentia died when Artemisia... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Here in Florence she encountered the Tuscan style of painting and completed her work The Penitent Magdalene in 1620. Her subject, Mary Magdalene, who is portrayed in this painting as a wealthy woman of Artemisia s time, is a character from the New Testament of the Bible. There is not many details of her life that are known, but what we do know is that she was a prostitute, who changed her ways when she met Jesus. This painting is called The Penitent Magdalene, but it could instead be called The Conversion of Magdalene, because this painting seems to capture the moment she decided to change her life around. While she was in Florence, Artemisia had many wealthy families commission her to create artwork for them, and many think that the Medici family commissioned her for this particular painting. (Koen, Lisa) It is obvious by Magdalene s expensive dress and exposed shoulders that she is a fallen woman . Her posture also shows her penitence, and the jar of ointment in the bottom right hand corner is a signature attribute of Magdalene. Artemisia s skill with her medium is apparent is the rich texture of Magdalen s garment, and in the contrast between her and the background. There are a few theories as to why Artemisia would choose to depict Mary Magdalene. Mary Garrard in her book Artemisia Gentileschi Around 1622: The Shaping and Reshaping of an Artist s Identity (2001) has proposed the following about how Artemisia might have connected with this particular biblical character: Both Artemisia and Mary Magdalene were stigmatized as sexually promiscuous in both cases on trumped up evidence and both had reputations as sinful women ...One can imagine that she might have identified both with her troubled character s desire to escape the confinement of luxury she found restrictive, and stifling, and, perhaps, with the Magdalene s yearning to move onto a higher spiritual plane. • 51. Han China And Rome Comparison Essay Similarities shared between the Han dynasty and the Roman empire were the amount of years both empires lasted, which was more than 400 years with the Roman empire lasting some decades longer. Their governments were also very similar, and although the Roman empire had a Republic, it was only a Republic in name and really functioned as an Absolute Monarchy like the Han dynasty. Their economy both depended on agriculture, so the source of wealth was based on land ownership, and the government revenues were based on a percentage tax on the annual harvest. They both had roads built to unify the empires and crucial regions by improving communications, trade, access to resources, and military movement. In the area of family and society, both lived by a patriarchy and fathers were revered by their families, their households had shrines dedicated to their ancestors and to ensure good fortune on the living they held rituals. Both empires had rituals and themes that ensured loyalty to the empire, as well as being exposed to new religions... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The heartland of the Han dynasty, compared to that of the Roman empire, was significantly larger and more cohesive, both geographically and culturally. The Han dynasty followed the philosophies of Confucianism which focused on bonds between people to ensure conformity and peace within society. They believed in living a virtuous life and the rewards that came with it. A major difference between the Han and the Roman was that the people they conquered were integrated into their society both culturally and biologically. Confucianism and Buddhist ideology, backed by the emperor s power and armies, is what held the empire together. Another major difference between the two empires is that once the Han dynasty was destroyed, it was eventually revived by later
  • 52. Money And Price Level Essay CHAPTER TWO LITERATURE REVIEW 2.1 Introduction The relationship between money supply and price level is very influential topic in the field of macroeconomic literature, which has received greater attention among government agencies, policy makers and researchers. This topic has been continuously discussed in the economic society since 16th century. The general price level of every economy is being continuously reported to be high from 16th century to present 21st century except some years. These higher price levels compelled the economists to carry out the study on whether over money supply are responsible to cause inflation or there are any other reasons responsible for high price or inflation. The economists have spent a lot of time in finding the causes of higher prices in the economy and reached the conclusion that higher prices are caused by different factors like unnecessary money supply, higher income, high wage rate, scarcity of commodities, increase in cost of production, international reasons, institutional factors etc. However, unnecessary and over money supply has been taken as the influential factor responsible to cause inflation or higher price in the economy by most of the economists in the world. Any economy should bear the high social and economic cost of inflation as there is no price stability. Over the past two decades, the policy makers are much worried with the instability of prices keeping in mind of the negative influences of rising price level in the
