Greek Theatre And Medieval Drama
Greek Theatre and Medieval Drama: Distant Siblings Greek theatre and medieval drama were both
very popular artistic events in their own periods of performance. However, from ancient Greece to
the renaissance, time has set them apart in terms of methodology; their practitioners use a creative
process based off of different mindsets. Therefore, the significant time lapse between the two genres
has had an evident impact on the way theatre was perceived and presented. In comparing aspects
such as religious motivations, conditions of violence and character development, the distinct
theatrical natures of Greek theatre and medieval dramawill be made apparent. Though both genres
of theatre are closely tied to religion, Greek theatre and medieval drama have different religious
motivations that impact the ways in which the theatrical event is utilized. In Greece, theatre was
used to entertain or please the Gods, more specifically the God Dionysus, during the most important
of the four Athenian festivals: the Great Dionysia. The first known Greek playwrights, such as
Thespis and Euripides, were chosen to compete in the festival and submit three tragedies and one
satyr play to be performed in front of approximately 15,000 spectators. In classical Greece, theatre
was the center of citizenship and society; religious ideologies towards Dionysus were not only
realized by performances, but strongly encouraged by the state. For example, if a citizen could not
afford to attend the

Enhancing The Gearbox Within The Siva Atom By Decreasing...
As the popularity of cell phones continues to increase, continually having a charged device
becomes of utmost importance. In order to fulfill this need, designers have created portable
chargers, such as the Siva Cycle Atom. The device claims to be 80% efficient and seems to be a
viable solution that could be purchased by many individuals in a commercial setting. The
objective of this project is to determine the feasibility of enhancing the gearbox within the Siva
Atom by decreasing energy losses to improve efficiency. A power storing device that can be
charged on a bicycle is a viable solution especially on a college campus setting, such as Texas A M
where bicycle use is very common among students. This would allow the consumer to have... Show

Students who spend hours on campus in a week for studies do not have regular access to
electrical outlets; they are constantly moving from class to class across campus. b. Background
The time used to commute from class to class for students can be used to charge their mobile
devices. There has been similar research conducted in the past. A research conducted in 2009
took an alternating current from a headlight generator and converted it into direct current in
order to charge a cell phone [2]. Another device that has been researched, and prototyped, is the
Siva Cycle Atom. It is a small device that connects to the back axle of a bike and converts
locomotive, mechanical energy into electrical energy. This device can either directly charge a
mobile device, or can charge a removable 1300 mAh battery. As a cyclist rides their bike, the
spinning of the wheel engages the generator within the device. The inside of the device is shown in
Figure 1. Figure 1: Inside the Siva Cycle Atom [3] The spinning of the generator produces current,
transforming the motion of the bicycle into electricity. Since this current varies, it must pass
through electronics to create a consistent current that can travel to either a mobile device or mobile
charger. It claims to be 80% efficient, meaning 80 percent of the energy from pedalling gets
transferred into electrical energy into the device[3]. Even with a high efficiency, the

The Role of P2X Receptors in Nociception
Introduction
Nociception is the sensation of pain which is normally a warning signal to brain in respond to a
potential hazard. Generally noxious stimulations are detected by specialised high threshold sensory
neurons, which are refer to nociceptors. The signals are then transferred to an electrical potential
and conducted to the brain via spinal cord. However sometimes abnormal nociception can lead to a
moderate to severe pain although a noxious stimulus is missing. This kind of pain are usually
trigger by nerve injury, while the pain sensation remains after the tissue had been healed.
Although the prevalence of neuropathic pain is not significant, about 7% to 8% of the European
population is affected, and about 5% are suffering severe pain (Torrance et al., 2006; Bouhassira
et al., 2008). Normally the neuropathic pain is induced by injury of somatosensory nerves, and
the pain remains after the tissue being healed. It can bring abnormal nociception while noxious
stimuli are missing, which called dysesthesia. Beside, pain can be triggered by non painful
stimuli, which is called allodynia). Many research has linked the neuropathic pain to neuronal
damages where endogenous ATP being released. Therefore purinergic receptors that can respond
to ATP are involved. In this essay, after a brief introduction of P2X receptors, the role of
microglial P2X4 and P2X7 in neuropathic pain will be discussed.
Purinergic receptor can be divided into two families based on their different

Christ s Love for the Church
Christ s Love for the Church
Sometimes following God is easy, but not the case of Hosea and Gomer in their not so fairytale
romance, we see that following God s plan for our life works out in the end. The story of Hosea
and Gomer was beautiful and lovely but also quirky. This story is located in the book of Hosea in
the Old Testament of the Bible.
If your spouse were to cheat on you with multiple partners would you stay with them? Most
people would say no and that they would leave, but is this the case with Hosea and Gomer? For
God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not
perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16 NIV). Some consider John 3:16 as the theme verse for the
entire Bible. (What Does John 3:16 Mean? 1). This tells us that God loves us unconditionally and
knows that we sin, but he still loves us.
HOSEA AND GOMER
Hosea is responsible and successful. In this book, Hosea was an obedient and faithful prophet of
God, and he was responsible and followed all of the orders that were presented to him. With every
order given to him, he did not fail.
Gomer is irresponsible and unclean. Gomer was a woman that was very unclean and irresponsible.
She was with many men and was not looking for love.
Gomer is content with the life she lives. Gomer was always perfectly content with her life style and
never thought about changing it.
HOSEA AND GOMER FALL IN LOVE God gives Hosea a task. One day Hosea tells God that he is

How A Person s Memory Works Memory
Alexis Marie Robinson Mrs Reilly English III Honors Period 6 09 Of March 2015 How A Person
s Memory Works Memory is a concept that refers to the process of remembering. Recalling
memories uses the same neurological paths humans use originally to sense the experience which in
result, almost recreates the event. Researchers believe memoryis a brain wide process, meaning that
memory is not restricted to one area of the brain. Scent is one of the strongest senses tied to
memory. Humans receive information through the five senses: 1sight, smell, taste, touch, and
sound. Someone can imagine how different a memory would be for a person if one of they did not
have one of their senses sight, sound, smell whatever the sense was that ties them closely to the
memory the most. Memories are just different ways people store and remember various things they
have sensed throughout life.
2It should be known that a single memory is a complex construction. For example, when people
think of a simple object the brain retrieves the objects name, its shape, function, and anything else
that closely ties itself to that object. 2Each part of this memory is from a different region of the
brain. 3(Mohs and Turkington) As stated by April Holladay, memories of concepts and ideas are
related to sense experiences because we extract the essence from sensed experiences to form
generalized concepts. And in the past, many experts explained memory as a filing cabinet full of
memory folders where

Mma Training Techniques
If you are just starting out in MMA training this article won t do you much good. In the beginning
of your training it s essential to focus on the basics and don t get sucked into the more advanced
routines and techniques. The beginning MMA fighter has a lot on their plate and should learn the
basics and learn them very well.
To me MMA is without a doubt the most demanding sport there is. It not only requires that a fighter
knows an endless number of precise movements and techniques on the ground, standing up, and
everywhere in between, but they must also be in exquisite cardiovascular shape and endurance.

more advanced training systems known in MMA training systems is the HIIT method. The HIIT
method stands for high intensity interval training which combines two intervals where one is
higher intensity with the other interval being lower intensity which allow the athlete to recuperate
and lower their heart rate.
The HIIT method is an excellent way to increase a fighters endurance which focuses on the aerobic
capacity and includes such activities as running, super set weight training, treadmill work. These
are just a small example of the best ways to train the aerboc energy system in which they need to
be performed in a range of 120 to 150 BPM (beats per minute) and will build endurance while
lasting from 30 to 120 minutes. The aerobic energy system is one that breaks down the fatty
tissue in the body and pumps glycogen into the muscles. This type of energy system is known as
slow burning and can last up to 1 to 2 hours. One of the best ways to train the aerobic energy

Current Outbreak Of The Ebola Virus
.
What is Ebola? Ebola, also called Hemorrhagic Fever is a rare deadly disease caused by infection
with a strain of ebola virus. This organism causes fever, headache, coughing blood, vomiting
blood, severe bleeding, organ failure, and leads to death. It is spread through body fluids and blood
of someone who is showing ebola symptoms. Ebola can also be spread by hazardous products
(unclean needles or unscreened blood), skin to skin contact, exchanging saliva (kissing, sharing
drinks or food), and making contact with a contaminated surface (doorknob, tissue, etc.).
The most current outbreak of Ebola is in West Africawhich was discovered in March of 2014 and
is considered one of the biggest Ebola outbreaks since Ebola was discovered in 1976. The
countries affected the most by this virus are Liberia, Guinea, and Sierra Leone. These countries
do not have a stable economy which means they cannot afford the tools and technology to study
the virus. In 2014 there were 9,936 Ebola victims but only 4,877 died that year. The virus has an
extremely high risk of death. It kills between 25 and 90 percent of those infected by Ebola.

Doctor-Assisted Suicide Case Study
The Canadian justice system is supposed to be neutral, fair, objective, and impartial. However,
we can see that this is not the reality but rather often times it can be oppressive, constraining, and
enforces discriminatory legislation or policies that directly or indirectly works to target certain
groups of people. This is especially evident when we look at the criminal laws which criminalize
non able bodied and terminally ill individuals, who seek out assistance in dying because they feel
that their life is no longer worth living, and as a result takes away their dignity and right to
autonomy. The decriminalization of physician assisted suicideis fundamental in order to achieve

Bullying And Its Effects On Children
2.2 Overview: In the next 7 minutes, a child in the U.S. will be bullied. It may be the son or
daughter of someone you know. Worse, it may be your own. Meanwhile, only four out of 100
adults will step in to stop it. And only 11 percent of the child s peers might do the same. The rest
85 percent will do nothing. Every day in America, more than 160,000 children miss school out of
fear of being bullied, according to National Education Association estimates. Bullyingtakes many
forms, ranging from the seemingly innocuous name calling to the more harmful cyberbullying to
severe physical violence. It happens everywhere, at all times to the most vulnerable of kids,
especially those who are obese, gay or have a disability. And besides the physical, emotional and
psychological tolls it imposes on victims, bullying produces adverse socioeconomic outcomes. The
Association for Psychological Science recently found that those who are bullies, victims or both
are more likely to experience poverty, academic failure and job termination in their adulthood. In
addition, they are likelier to commit crime and abuse drugs and alcohol. For schools, the financial
burden caused by bullying is not to be ignored, either. According to a National Association of
Secondary SchoolPrincipals report, the average public school can incur more than $2.3 million in
lost funding and expenses as a result of suspensions, expulsions, vandalism, alternative placement
and lower attendance. There are different

The Valley Of Opportunity By Robert Noyce
The Valley of Opportunity What is the American Dream? Usually, for most people the American
Dream is working hard enough to be able to live prosperously. But has the meaning of the
American Dream changed, so that in order to achieve it one must become wealthy and gain
success. The type of people that are most often identified, as having achieved the American Dream
are entrepreneurs who create successful and innovative companies, not the everyday middle class
man. The stories of these successful entrepreneurs are similar; they come up with an idea and find
a way to make it work. Some entrepreneurs would be Robert Noyce, Mark Zuckerberg, Steve Jobs,
and Bill Gates who founded innovative, successful, and popular companies. And the place... Show

Most of these companies started out as ideas that developed into businesses. The reason why all
these companies are located in Silicon Valleyis because is the gold mine of where dreams come
true. Silicon Valley did not start with that name and in fact it only started when eight men built a
company, which would later become known as Fairchild Semiconductor. At the head of the
formation of Silicon Valley was a man named Robert Noyce he was a physicist and a born
salesman. The eight men all worked for a brilliant physicist named William Shockley, who was the
co inventor of the transistor. The transistor was a revolutionary invention that became a step
towards the microchip (American Experience). William Shockley an already Nobel Prize winning
scientist decided to create his own semiconductor company. He had hired eight PhD graduates to
work with him and improve the semiconductor and create new technologies. The eight men all
focused on different fields there were physicists, mechanical and electrical engineers, metallurgists,
and tool builders. Unlike Shockley, they were young men almost all under thirty. The laboratory
was located in the valley because of Shockley s personal ties to that area. The work environment at
Shockley Semiconductor Laboratory was not very inviting, which led to the eight men resenting
Shockley. Realizing that Shockley would not be replaced they decided

The Chemical Traces Of A Beer And The Artist Of Its...
Humans have been trying to get a buzz for centuries. Molecular archeologist Patrick McGovern
believes fermentation of yeast was discovered nearly 9,000 years ago after he uncovered chemical
traces of a fermented beverage found seeped into the porous clay of ancient pottery. It is safe to say
that the brewingindustry is as old as civilization itself and over time humans have been able to be
creative with the process and produce variations of beerrecipes. Drinking a beer can be defined as
an experience involving the presentation of its storage along with the beverage itself. Consumers
can appreciate both the artist of the individualized concoction of the beer and the artist of its
container or vessel. These two components of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The wort is then brought to a boil, only recent in todays world, and hops are introduced where
they can break down and add different flavoring to the beer by releasing oils. The wort cools
down and yeast is then added for fermentation to begin. The yeast breaks down the sugars from
the mash and releases alcohol and carbon dioxide into the mixture. At this point in the brewing
process, brewer can decide to brew an ale or a lager, and choose the correct yeast according to that
decision. As the yeast finishes up its job, it begins to settle at the bottom of the fermentation vessel,
leaving the final beer product (Quinn).
Fig. 1
Since the beginning of fermentation history, potters and brewers have been linked by the beer
market. Beer is a product of water, malt, and yeast and fermentation. Fermentation is fundamental
in brewing because it gives beer its carbonation and alcohol content, so it is no wonder people
began creating vessels, or amphorae, with a functional use suited for this chemical reaction. In
Figure 1, amphorae that are shown generally had a specific shape with a tall narrow body and
cylindrical neck, enabling beer to ferment due to yeast breaking down sugar into alcohol in a
cyclical movement inside (Cartwright, 2013). Both artists felt the impact of globalization in pre
modern period with two major inventions: the wheel and writing. Writing helped with

taxation without representation, and in 1773 Henry took lead in creating Virginia s Committee of

Bealtaine Research Paper
The Festival of Bealtaine, also known as May Day, marks the beginning of the summer. It
encompasses the sunset of April 30th, which is May Eve, to the sunset of May 1st, which is the
actual May Day. The most significant time of this festival is between dawn and sunrise. It is a key
element of the annual cycle and is one of four of the True Quarters, which also includes Samhain,
Saint Brigid s Day, and LГєnasa. The cyclic nature of Bealtaine connects to both the daily cycle
and the life cycle, which highlights how cycles are central elements in one s life. The daily cycle
of waking up and sleeping can be extended into the annual cycle of the seasons, which then can be
further amplified into the cycle of life and death. Bealtaine is a crucial marker in the year that
serves as the start of not only summer, but as a predictor of the rest of the year. It has a complex

the rotting body had all of his fat stolen from him. Eventually it was concluded that the

Planned Market And Mixed Market Economies
Planned, Market, and Mixed Economies
Each country has its own economic system, a system for allocating its resources among its citizens,
both individual and organizations (Ebert Griffin, 2015, p. 11). There are three economic systems:
planned economies, market economies, and mixed market economies. Economic systems are
defined by how the five factors of productions are handled: labor, capital, entrepreneurs, physical
resources, and information resources. Factors of production are the resources that a country s
businesses use to produce goods and services (Ebert Griffin, 2015, p. 11).
Planned Economies
A planned economy can be defined as an economy that relies on a centralized government to
control all or most factors of production and to make all or most production and allocation
decisions (Ebert Griffin, 2015, p. 12). There are two forms of planned economies: communism, in
which the government owns and operates all factors of productions, and socialism, where the
government owns and operates only selected factors of productions. China and North Korea are
both examples of current communist countries; Denmark and Sweden are both examples of current
socialist countries.
Planned Economies and Labor Factor of Production
People who work for businesses provide labor. Labor, sometimes called human resources, includes
the physical and intellectual contributions people make while engaging in economic productions
(Ebert Griffin, 2015, p. 11). In a communist planned

Whilst in Paris, Reinhardt collaborated with numerous American jazz musicians including
saxophonists Benny Carter and Coleman Hawkins, and cornetist Rex Stewart. Due to the
prevalence of Jazz in America, it could be argued that future generations of jazz guitarists were
influenced more by Charles Christian and other American jazz guitarists than Django, however,
Reinhardt s influence was transmitted via these musicians with Mary Osborne recalling a
concert in Bismark during the late 1930 s when Christian performed a note for note version of
Reinhardt s recording of St. Louis Blues .9 This was also the case with Les Paul who learnt
Django s solos by listening to his recordings and went on to perform them across America. There
are a myriad of other celebrated guitar players who have cited Reinhardt as an inspiration for their
music including Wes Montgomery, Chet Atkins, B.B. King, John McLaughlin, Carlos Santana,
Vernon Reid, Andres Segovia and guitar legend Jeff Beck who claimed that, after listing through
all of his own inspirations, of course, it all started with Django. 10 The influence of Django
Reinhardt has also been transmitted through popular culture with Django s music being used in a

enormous influence on agriculture. They were able to charge the farmers large fees, expenses that
farmers barely had enough to cover, in order to transport their goods throughout the expansive

their land was being sold. In 1887, the Dawes Severalty Act was passed by congress. The Dawes

there were another 90 million acres which were fertile and was often sold to white settlers. As

The Irony of Cannery Row
The book Cannery Row by John Steinbeck provides several examples of irony, which shed light on
life during this time in history and demonstrates the humanity of people that are traditionally
looked down on and seen as less fortunate. The story of Cannery Row takes place shortly following
the Great Depression when despite many areas were seeing relief through increased job
opportunities, there were still many areas like Cannery Row where people were focused on just
surviving the day today. A common theme seen throughout the story is the acceptance of what they
have in the town. Many of the examples of irony also lend to the idea that people accepted what

without question is a common theme seen throughout the story.
The normality of public spaces being used as private spaces also demonstrates the theme of

without a license. By normal standards, this would be unacceptable, and he would be imprisoned
for offering medical help or advice without a license.Doc knows that he has somewhat of

The Most Common Argument Against School Uniforms
Uniforms would not be a good idea because of the different problems it would start and how it
could cost the school more money than it gained. My claim is that uniforms are a bad idea
because they will not make students happy and they won t be happy that they don t get freedom to
dress how they would like to.
The most common argument against school uniforms is that they limit personal expression. (http:/
/kidsfashion.about.com/od/doityourselfstyles/tp/The Arguments Against School Uniforms.htm)
And they will make kids all feel the same and unlike themselves and that won t make them want to
do their schoolwork any more than they did before. And plus schools that didn t have uniforms for
a long time would be weird for students to undergo

Summary Of The Song Changes By Charles Bradley
Changes by Charles Bradley is a song that resonates with me as a song that triggers an emotional
response. The song was first released in 2013 and is a cover of the 1972 band Black Sabbath
(Cory, 2017). It is apparent by the title that the topic for the song is the changes that the artist is
going through or has gone through in his life. At the very beginning of the song, Bradley says
She was my woman. I loved her so. But it s too late now. I ve let her go... But soon the world. Had
its evil way , which illustrates the loss of a partner but is still ambiguous in how he lost her but
one can infer it was due to death (Cory, 2017). Now, any time a song refers to the death of a loved
one, it is easy to sympathize with because we have all lost... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

When I first heard the song, I immediately searched for it on the internet and listened to the
whole version because I thought it was such a powerful song. The lyrics of the song tell a story,
it is one of pain and sorrow, but it s a story that I think everyone can relate to. The lyrics are very
simple and they all come together to form a detailed depiction of Bradley s emotions. When I
hear Bradley sing about his loss, it triggers me into thinking about the loved ones that I have lost.
The rhythm of the song is very slow pace and calm, which sets the mood for Bradley s gritty deep
voice, but when the chorus hits, then the saxophone jumps in to excite the whole song. The beat is
soft enough to induce a deep thought and when the chorus hits, you do not get the usual sense of
excitement but rather one of contempt delight. Lastly, the artist is another thing that triggers a
Dionysian response for me, the reason being that Bradley looks just like my grandfather that
passed about a year ago. Every time I see Bradley, I think of my grandfather and all of the time I
spent with him, not to mention that the author s last name matches that of my family. Overall, I
would say that the emotional response that I get when I hear this song is one of blissfulness and

Frances Piper: The Devil s Advocate?
In Fall On Your Knees, Ann Marie MacDonald presents a vivid and life like character in Frances
Piper. Frances Piper is one of the four Piper girls, and she is different from the rest of them.
From her early childhood, Frances is a bold and naughty girl who is always getting herself into
trouble. She has a great mischievous streak which troubles her father, James Piper, immensely.
James Piper himself has a demon like personality at various times throughout the novel, some of
which he collects from his father in his early childhood. In a similar fashion to Frances s father s
past, the reader can visualize Frances getting accustomed to her father s personality and see her
become a demon ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Frances starts to smoke, drink, and perform very cheap shows at the age of sixteen. She is
prostituting herself to older men, and it is horrible because of the manner she is performing her
acts: Frances will bounce in your lap with your fly buttoned for as long as it takes for two bucks
. . . A hand job costs two fifty she has a special glove she wears, left over from her first
communion. (293) Using a communion glove to perform vile acts is atrocious, because when
that glove is used for a religious service, not a vile act. This is an instance where the reader can
start to imagine that Frances may be representing the Devil because of her actions. Laura
Robinson states that instead of labouring quietly for little pay, doing charitable work, and having
reverence for patriarchs, Frances performs loudly, prostitutes herself, and demonstrates no respect
for her father (Robinson 37). However, she also goes on to say that France works to provide the
funds for Lily s escape from home and the dangers of the family (Robinson 37). MacDonald also
mentions in the novel that Frances wants to start saving her money for Lily, and is putting her
money away in a secret place (293). She realizes that what she is doing is for a good cause: to
protect her younger sister Lily and to save enough money to send her away when the time comes.

The Derivatives Of Cellulose
Cellulose is a well known carbohydrate that is currently being impressively utilized within the food
industry. Derivatives of cellulose, can be used to improve texture, to act as edible microcomposite
films, and to provide antibacterial packaging. Some cellulose derivatives are carboxymethyl
cellulose, microcrystalline cellulose, hydroxy propyl methyl cellulose, and microfibrillated cellulose
(Belitz et al. 2009).
Cellulose is a polysaccharide derived from plant cell walls that is digestible by the enzyme
cellulase (Belitz et al. 2009). Humans can not digest cellulose because cellulase is not present in
the digestive tract, however this indigestible carbohydrate is a major component of dietary fiber
and improves digestion (Belitz et al. 2009). On the other hand, herbivores have rumen microflora
that can hydrolyze cellulose (Belitz et al. 2009).
Cellulose consists of a flat and linear structure containing hydrogen bonds that form
polycrystalline fiber bundles (Huber and BeMiller 2017). There are repeating glucopyranosyl
units bound by 14 glycosidic linkages which form pleated chains parallel to the direction of the
fibers (Belitz et al. 2009). The source of the cellulose affects the degree of polymerization which
can range from 1000 to 14000 (Belitz et al. 2009). The hydrogen bonds that stabilize the parallel
chains cause cellulose to have a high molecular weight and be insoluble in water, however it can
be modified to become water soluble gums (Huber and BeMiller 2017).

Cultural Differences In Islam, Judaism, And Christianity
All around the world, each year, believers of various religions come together to celebrate feasts,
commemorating a variety of topics and events. The religions of Islam, Judaism, and Christianity
are three global religions around the world with their own belief systems and ethical morals. But
despite having these different beliefs, all three religions have their fair share of similarities and
differences in their celebrations, ranging from their method of celebration to the purpose of each
feast. These similarities and contrasts are seen in the feast reflection periods of Rosh Ha Shanah,
Muharram, and Lent, found in Judaism, Islam, and Christianityrespectively, and is also seen in the
global celebrations of Chanukah, Eid al Fitr, and Christmas, also found in Judaism, Islam, and

Computer Fraud And Identity Theft
Abstract
In today s world where computers, cellular phones, wireless internet connections and electronic
transactions are common place norms, maintaining ones identity can be a challenge. In 2012 the
United States population was 314.1 million people, in the same year, 75.6 percent of households
reported having a computer. (Government Census, 2012) With this high population and electronic
use, one could extrapolate that there is high risk for computer fraud and identity theft. For example
consider these statistics in 2013, identity theft complaints accounted for 14% of all complaints. The
most common form of reported identity theft was government documents/benefits fraud, 34%,
followed by credit card fraud, 17%, phone or utilities fraud, 14%, and bank fraud, 8%. Forty one
percent of identity theft complainants reported whether they contacted law enforcement. Of those
victims, 74% notified a police department and 61% indicated a report was taken. (Government
Census, 2012) There are many ways to counter identity theft, some being not to give out personal
data or to make sure to properly destroy/secure all important documentation. These methods of
protection seem quite feasible and often time practical, however with the rate at which identity theft
occurs the validity of these protections might come into question. Therefore this research proposal
begs the questions of how effective are these counter measures, to what degree are the counter
measures followed by the victims, and

Confucius Lives Next Door
Confucius Lives Next Door is a book containing the similarities and differences of the east and
west. Not only does this book contain similarities and differences, but it also contains historic and
modern day facts about Confucius and the Antalects. The main reason for the author writing this
book was to write how Confuciushas influenced the population in the east in the past, and today.
The book describes how the Antalects are still part of modern education.
The quote I chose for this paragraph is in chapter 4, page 105. The quote says A true gentleman
is made, not born, says the master . The paragraph is talking about gentleman, and how one
becomes a gentleman. I agree with this statement, because when someone; boy or girl, is born,
they don t automatically open doors for others. They have to be taught how to respect people, and
if the parent or guardian does not do that, the child has to teach itself. They look at how other
people act and choose to be nice, polite and respectful, or rude and dishonest. This makes me feel
happy, because the author is stating what I believe. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The quote is very long, so instead of typing the whole paragraph, I will type the part that caught
my attention. This says in other words, people feel the need to try not to do anything that might
bother other people . This caught my attention because I wish people in the west would consider
this every time they do something rude. I am not saying that everyone in the west is like this, but
many people are. When someone starts being unruly and loud in a quiet place, they are being
selfish. That person is bothering other people, and that is what people in the east try to avoid.
Everyday confrontations, will still happen, but imagine how calm the world would be if everyone

PUBLIC POLICY PAPER 2 America is portrayed throughout the globe as the land of opportunity
and the home of the free. With all that the U.S. has to offer, it is unethical to see how the health
care system has failed and is continuing to fail countless Americans. We constantly hear the
stories of citizens who have benefited from their insurance, gone through challenges with
insurers, or can not be insured based on their pre existing medical history. With companies such
as Microsoft, employees do not pay a dime out of pocket for any of their medical needs and their
families needs regardless of the cost. Also under these broad organization insurances, employees
with pre existing health conditions can not be turned away. As for all other American citizens
who work in small businesses, the insurance offered to them comes at a high coverage cost with
an even higher deductible or co pays and coverage limits. I ve been working for a local
government agency going on ten years now; one may assume that, holding a local government

The Language Acquisition Of Children
It is a well known fact that all children acquire language the same way, regardless of what the
language in question is. For example, we can create an analogy by comparing the process of
acquiring a language to learning how to play a new game. If one wishes to play a new game he
must first go over some basic rules, which in our case would be: understanding sounds, words and
sentences and how they can be combined into meaningful structures. Since language can be
considered a highly complex game there are many rules which are divided into levels that depend
on each other. Therefore, to understand some higher principles of language one must first acquire
all of the lower ones that support them. Observing how a child acquires a language... Show more
content on Helpwriting.net ...
Secondly, the language and dialect of a particular environment in which the child grows up in
affect the acquisition so it is very likely that the child will initially adopt that language and
dialect naturally. Generally, they begin to converse using the language their parents employ, but
soon after, as they start to integrate with other children, they start speaking like them. This
usually begins at the age of three. Children will also pick up on the grammar mainly used within
its community; whether it s standard or non standard grammar doesn t matter to them. For
example if a child grows up in a neighbourhood where the majority of people use sentences such
as I done it , inevitably the child will also pick up this type of speech and use it since he doesn t
know the difference between correct and incorrect grammar. To them one rule applies always as
long as adults use this type of language it remains correct from the child s point of view.
The process, by which humans reach the capacity to comprehend and perceive language, as well as
to produce words and sentences to communicate, is called language acquisition. It is one of the traits
of the human being as other species do not use language to communicate. Generally language
acquisition is referred to as first language acquisition which studies acquisition of the native
language whereas second language acquisition is the acquisition of languages learned after the
native language.

Pros And Cons Of Abortion In India
Abortion is one delicate subject when it comes to debating about it because of people religious
beliefs and the controversy surrounding it. But what people don t know that in many parts of the
world abortion is a big part of their daily life choices. And by that, I mean that most people tend to
have abortions, depending on the sexof their baby, because of their belief system. China and India
are one of the major countries that prefer males over females because men are the ones that are
always in power in the household and also they are the ones that tend to inherit the majority of the
family s benefits. China has one of the highest abortion rates, along with that they have the lowest
femalepopulation. Throughout my research, I ve learned a lot about sex selective abortion one of
those things that it s traveling to other parts of the world.

Skepticism
01/07/2018
Skepticism is something which the early philosophers such as Rene Descartes and George
Berkeley addressed, and still, the issue of reality has remained debated for centuries by
philosophers (Schmerheim, 2015). This paper discusses the topic of whether the Matrix film is
more like Descartes evil deceiver or otherwise like the Berkeley s God by analyzing the
philosophy with regards to the Matrix film. The Matrix is a 1999 film that is significantly founded
on the question of what is reality and Berkeley and Descartes, on the other hand, perceived the
world as having two different versions of the truth. This paper will thus discuss the philosophy of
Descartes and Berkeley concerning the concept of reality and then provide supporting evidence
how the Matrix film is a reflection of their ideas.
The Matrix film describes a world in which the reality that is perceived by humans. The Matrix
which is a reality that is established by malevolent machines. The machines then overcome and
appease the humans so that the devices can get a source of energy from their electrical activity
and bodies heat (Schmerheim, 2015). In this film, Keanu Reeves plays a role as a computer

The Failion Of Society In The Fahrenheit 451
We are living the Fahrenheit
Fahrenheit 451 shows a society very similar to ours today. Much the same as revealed in the
Fahrenheit, we live in a society that is impatient, disconnected from reality and desires
satisfaction from materialistic objects. We live in a world where people seek the easy way out of
problems. People lose their identities focusing too much on themselves and chasing after physical
possessions. People have a physical and emotional side but the people in our society neglects its
emotional side. People now get their happiness from physical objects and seek fulfilment from self
involvement, they ignore the other side of life and the beauty that it holds. We love ourselves so
much that we focus only on ourselves, our wants, needs, and desires that we end up losing patience
and neglecting each other.
The Fahrenheit reveals technology as an enemy of society. In the first part of the book during her
conversation with Montag, Clarisse mentions how everything s a blur to people. They have a need
to rush through everything in life. She talks about her uncle who once got jailed for driving at forty
miles per hour, which in this society is considered too slow a speed. People have grown so
impatient towards everything, they don t realize the things that they are missing out on many
beauties while rushing through life. With the advancement of technology people have become even
more impatient. They have the same expectations for people as they do technology. The

Concepts such as compassion, thoughtfulness, and empathy are what people all over the world

control over. This conflict can be explained by the Determinism theory. Determinism is a
philosophy described as human beings having no free willand therefore, cannot control their own
actions and should not be held accountable. This philosophy is seen in Edith Wharton s short story
Roman Fever by her characters Mrs. Slade and Mrs. Ansley as they argue about a letter and an affair
in the duration of the story. Wharton s main characters are on opposing sides of the philosophy of
determinism, with Mrs. Slade representing determinism and Mrs. Ansley representing free will,
respectively and each effectively showing Wharton s disagreement to determinism.
In Roman Fever , Mrs. Slade represented determinism in the duration of the story through her
jealousy and similar emotions. Her thoughts and actions in the story towards her lifelong friend
has traces of jealousy and bewilderment throughout the story. For example when reminiscing on
the days of their youth in Rome, she realized that, There was no one of whom she had less right
to think unkindly than of Grace Ansley. Would she never cure herself of envying her! (Wharton
6). Mrs. Slade talks about how her life is boring and now that her husband has passed away, her
life is even more dreary. She envious of the type of daughter

Cormac Mccarthy The Road Survival
American Novelist, Cormac McCarthy, won the Pulitzer Prize and the James Tait Black Memorial
Prize for Fiction for his gripping novel, The Road (2006). The novel follows a man and his son who
are struggling to survive the burned America and the hardships that come with it. They face harsh
weather, starvation, dehydration, nature and even other people; however, they carry the fire which
brings them hope and reminds them not to follow evil. Throughout the novel, McCarthy conveys
the different types of surviving in the new apocalyptic world.
One type of survival that is portrayed in the burnt America is being the good guys who carry the
fire. The novel s main characters, the man and the boy (who go unnamed throughout the novel),
have been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The bad guy role is the second way of surviving the new world. There are many groups of people
the man and the boy meet on the road, all of them but three are bad. The bad guys rape, kill and
eat other humans, and everything they have, they got from stealing. The bad guys are made of
two kinds of people; the people who were always rotten inside and the people left with no choice.
The new world gave the rotten people an opportunity to rise and blossom without being
punishment by the law, for it does not exist anymore. The people who had no choice were good
guys who couldn t be good anymore, because if they remained good, they would die. A horrific
example of a group of bad guys, are the third people the man and the boy run into. The man woke
up one morning just in time to see the army of people coming towards them. He grabs the boy and
their supplies and drags them into the woods to hide. The man gives a detailed description of army
and what they own.
An army in tennis shoes. Carrying three foot lengths of pipe with leather wrappings [...] Bearded,
their breath smoking through their masks [...] Behind them wagons drawn, by slaves in harness
and piled with goods of war and after that the women, perhaps a dozen in number, some of them
pregnant, and lastly a supplementary consort of catamites illclothed against the cold and fitted in
dog collars and yoked each to each. (McCarthy,

The Effects of Alcohol on People s Health
Different researchers have carried out research on the effects of alcohol on people s health, on
people s attention to different activities and their general well being. The following are some of the
researches that have been carried out by different researchers on factors that affect people s social
attentionthat may be of importance in carrying out this research.
According to Roberts, W., Miller, M. A., Weafer, J., Fillmore, M. T. (2014), these researchers
carried out a research on how alcohol inhibits one s attention control. These researchers used a
group of healthy social drinkers to carry out their research. The healthy social drinkers in this
experiment were required to remain attentive in carrying out various tasks by inhibiting different
inhibitory factors that affect one s attention in doing something. It was found that people who
drank alcohol heavily were not able to control their social attention. That is, these people were
easily distracted by different stimuli especially alcohol related stimuli. On the other hand, people
who used alcohol less often or who did not use it at all were able to control their social attention in
doing something. That is, they were not easily distracted by various stimuli.
Then Birmingham and Kingstone (2009), researched on social attention and what affects it. These
researchers used two groups of adolescents. One group of these adolescents was made of normal
and healthy teenagers while the other group was made of adolescents with

Stategic Planning for The University Hospital Bristol NHS...
The University Hospital Bristol NHS Foundation Trust is a teaching hospital that provides
specialist and general services to the people of Bristol, England and the wider South West. The
hospital is already recognized for the strength of their clinical services, research portfolio in cancer,
and pediatric services. The hospitalemploys more than 7,000 (uhbristol/About Us, 2013) health
care workers and operates across eight hospital sites. One of the hospital s goals is to be
recognized for the excellence of the outcomes they achieve for their patients and the quality of the
patient experience while under their care.
In 2010, the Board of University Hospital Bristol began a process in order to ensure that the
hospital continues to improve ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Their plan includes increasing efficiency and performance across all departments. In order to
achieve this, they are focusing on creating a more flexible infrastructure that will allow the hospital
to respond to changes in demand as well as patient initiatives (monitor.gov, 2010). Another factor in
helping the hospital to achieve their goals is the further investing in the infrastructure which will
allow them to compete with other health care facilities for patient care and also an increased cash
flow.
It should be noted that the hospital has also created strategic planning for collaborative work with
other health care factions in order to create the proper levels of access and quality in all
departments and other facilities in order to ensure the best care is given across all demographics
and geographic lines. This collaborative work not only benefits the communities, but also creates a
network of services that can better serve the residents and all other health care workers and
organizations. This collaboration can also ensure the profitability and sustainability of not only
Bristol, but also the partnering organizations. This leads to the final strategic planning goal of
understanding the profitability of procedures and patient care.
With the finances of the hospital being as it is, it is imperative to note that if a situation arose
whereby the nursing union has begun bargaining and has demanded a ten percent increase in
salaries, a

Is Informed Consent Always Necessary for Randomized,...
Is informed consent always necessary for randomized, controlled trials? The following sentences are
different scenarios that answer the question. Informed consent should not be waived unless the
treatment is offered inside and outside the trial. Treatment should not involve more than minimal
risk compared to alternatives. Genuine clinic must value the treatments the same. No reasonable
person should have a preference for one treatment or another (Truog et al. 1999). If the treatments
can be found in and outside of the trial, then you don t need the consent of the patient. For example,
a trial comparing a beta blocker with an angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor for treatment of
hypertension should not be approved for a waiver of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The author states, Should specific informed consent be sought from a patient enrolled in the study?
If so, then what should be done if the patient chooses not to participate (Truog et al. 1999)? In this
scenario the patient does not give their consent to participate in the trial so the dilemma of what to
do with the patient rises. Should no data be collected on the patient or should they be moved out of
the program and if that happens, what was the point of having the trial in the first place? If you
have to collect informed consent from patients in the trial it is going to make the data polls smaller
and harder to collect. Genuine clinical treatments must exist in balance when weigh against one
another (Truog et al. 1999). That this is trying to explain is that when in a trial you cannot have a
treatment that has more risks or wait time compared to an alternative treatment. For example, if
treatment one has larger risks and a longer recovery time compared to treatment two, which has
fewer risks and a short recovery time, then the treatments are not balanced. In this example
treatment one and two have the same over all out come, but since treatments are not balanced the
patient must give informed consent before undergoing any treatment. If informed consent is not
collected, how well the patients know if they are getting the treatment in the trial that best suits their
wishes? The author states If the

The Film One Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest
In the novel and the film One Flew over the Cuckoo s Nest there are a variety of transformations.
In the film the actors are not portrayed, looks wise, as they are in the book. There are many
characters whose appearances aren t how they are described in the book, like Nurse Ratched and
Chief Bromden. There are also many events and incidents that happen in the book that do not
happen in the movie. The movie includes a character or two that was not mentioned in the book
and characters are portrayed differently than how they are in the book. The biggest difference
between the film and the book is the story s point of view. Chief Bromden is the narrator in the
novel. He unfolds the story of all the chaos between Nurse Ratched and Randle McMurphy. In the
book Chief is portrayed to be the hero who endures the most changes in the book. In spite of the
fact of him describing the all the horrific events in the mental hospital, Chief reveals biographical
information of his own life before he was institutionalized. Chief is a paranoid schizophrenic, war
veteran, and a half breed Indian. His mother is a white woman who worked with the U.S.
government. She then later, weakened his proud father who was a very strong Indian man. The
movie does have Chief narrating it like in the novel. The movie also fails to mention the
background story of Chief, and lowers his role in the movie to make McMurphy stand out more. In
the film, McMurphy is made out to be the hero. Chief s delusional

Factors Influencing The Collaboration Of The New Testament
LIBERTY UNIVERSITY FACTORS INFLUENCING THE COLLABORATION OF THE NEW
TESTAMENT By Daniel Surmi CHHI 520 05 October, 2014 INTRODUCTION This paper will
examine the internal and external factors which spurred and led to the well known theologian
Athanasius proposing the now existing New Testament books of the Holy Scriptures. The internal
factors that will be examined in this paper include: Docetism, Judaism, Gnosticism, Marcionism,
Montanism, and Apollinarianism. Secondly this paper will view how the false prophets influenced
not only the doctrine of Christ but sought to take advantage of the Church s generous heart for
personal profit and gain. The external factors this paper will evaluate are: the persecution of the
church and the influence of pagan cultures surrounding the Christian Gentiles. The events and
topics covered will be from the 1st to 3rd century AD. Lastly this paper will look at the churches
response to these factors as they will create an authoritative list of writings in which Christians can
rest on and use as a foundation for their belief in Christ. All information and data in this paper is
gathered from peer reviewed, published journals and vetted educational websites. TABLE OF

The Demise Of African Prosperity
The Demise of African Prosperity: Effects of the Transatlantic Slave Trade
The Transatlantic slave trade, a catastrophic event in the 15th to 19th century, affected millions of
Africans and Europeans alike. Slaves were ripped from their homes and sent to the foreign lands,
becoming the fundamental source of labour for mining and agricultural industries in the New
World. Historians Hugh Thomas, Walter Rodney and John Thornton have contradictory beliefs
about the effects of the Transatlantic slave trade on Africa. Thomas argues that the slave trade was
beneficial to Africa, while Rodney argues a more negative position, claiming that the unequal trade
lead to population loss and warfare. Thornton argues neutrally states that the slave trade was simply
an internal trade diverted to the Atlantic. Although historians such as Hugh Thomas believe that the
Transatlantic provided short term economic stimulus to Urban Empires, the slave trade was overall
detrimental, leading to economic consequences and social and political conflict. The African Slave
trade, as stated by Hugh Thomas in The Atlantic World in the Age of Empire brought an influx of
European goods and employment, providing a short term benefit that was, in the long term,
detrimental to the African economy. Contrary to John Thornton s speculation of Europe and Africa
s partnership, Europe imposed economic dependency and involuntary trade on Africa, which
deprived Africa of labor, impaired its development, and

  • 2. Greek Theatre And Medieval Drama Greek Theatre and Medieval Drama: Distant Siblings Greek theatre and medieval drama were both very popular artistic events in their own periods of performance. However, from ancient Greece to the renaissance, time has set them apart in terms of methodology; their practitioners use a creative process based off of different mindsets. Therefore, the significant time lapse between the two genres has had an evident impact on the way theatre was perceived and presented. In comparing aspects such as religious motivations, conditions of violence and character development, the distinct theatrical natures of Greek theatre and medieval dramawill be made apparent. Though both genres of theatre are closely tied to religion, Greek theatre and medieval drama have different religious motivations that impact the ways in which the theatrical event is utilized. In Greece, theatre was used to entertain or please the Gods, more specifically the God Dionysus, during the most important of the four Athenian festivals: the Great Dionysia. The first known Greek playwrights, such as Thespis and Euripides, were chosen to compete in the festival and submit three tragedies and one satyr play to be performed in front of approximately 15,000 spectators. In classical Greece, theatre was the center of citizenship and society; religious ideologies towards Dionysus were not only realized by performances, but strongly encouraged by the state. For example, if a citizen could not afford to attend the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Enhancing The Gearbox Within The Siva Atom By Decreasing... As the popularity of cell phones continues to increase, continually having a charged device becomes of utmost importance. In order to fulfill this need, designers have created portable chargers, such as the Siva Cycle Atom. The device claims to be 80% efficient and seems to be a viable solution that could be purchased by many individuals in a commercial setting. The objective of this project is to determine the feasibility of enhancing the gearbox within the Siva Atom by decreasing energy losses to improve efficiency. A power storing device that can be charged on a bicycle is a viable solution especially on a college campus setting, such as Texas A M where bicycle use is very common among students. Students who spend hours on campus in a week for studies do not have regular access to electrical outlets; they are constantly moving from class to class across campus. b. Background The time used to commute from class to class for students can be used to charge their mobile devices. There has been similar research conducted in the past. A research conducted in 2009 took an alternating current from a headlight generator and converted it into direct current in order to charge a cell phone [2]. Another device that has been researched, and prototyped, is the Siva Cycle Atom. It is a small device that connects to the back axle of a bike and converts locomotive, mechanical energy into electrical energy. This device can either directly charge a mobile device, or can charge a removable 1300 mAh battery. As a cyclist rides their bike, the spinning of the wheel engages the generator within the device. The inside of the device is shown in Figure 1. Figure 1: Inside the Siva Cycle Atom [3] The spinning of the generator produces current, transforming the motion of the bicycle into electricity. Since this current varies, it must pass through electronics to create a consistent current that can travel to either a mobile device or mobile charger. It claims to be 80% efficient, meaning 80 percent of the energy from pedalling gets transferred into electrical energy into the device[3]. Even with a high efficiency, the ... • 4. The Role of P2X Receptors in Nociception Introduction Nociception is the sensation of pain which is normally a warning signal to brain in respond to a potential hazard. Generally noxious stimulations are detected by specialised high threshold sensory neurons, which are refer to nociceptors. The signals are then transferred to an electrical potential and conducted to the brain via spinal cord. However sometimes abnormal nociception can lead to a moderate to severe pain although a noxious stimulus is missing. This kind of pain are usually trigger by nerve injury, while the pain sensation remains after the tissue had been healed. Although the prevalence of neuropathic pain is not significant, about 7% to 8% of the European population is affected, and about 5% are suffering severe pain (Torrance et al., 2006; Bouhassira et al., 2008). Normally the neuropathic pain is induced by injury of somatosensory nerves, and the pain remains after the tissue being healed. It can bring abnormal nociception while noxious stimuli are missing, which called dysesthesia. Beside, pain can be triggered by non painful stimuli, which is called allodynia). Many research has linked the neuropathic pain to neuronal damages where endogenous ATP being released. Therefore purinergic receptors that can respond to ATP are involved. In this essay, after a brief introduction of P2X receptors, the role of microglial P2X4 and P2X7 in neuropathic pain will be discussed. Purinergic receptor can be divided into two families based on their different ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Christ s Love for the Church Christ s Love for the Church Sometimes following God is easy, but not the case of Hosea and Gomer in their not so fairytale romance, we see that following God s plan for our life works out in the end. The story of Hosea and Gomer was beautiful and lovely but also quirky. This story is located in the book of Hosea in the Old Testament of the Bible. If your spouse were to cheat on you with multiple partners would you stay with them? Most people would say no and that they would leave, but is this the case with Hosea and Gomer? For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16 NIV). Some consider John 3:16 as the theme verse for the entire Bible. (What Does John 3:16 Mean? 1). This tells us that God loves us unconditionally and knows that we sin, but he still loves us. HOSEA AND GOMER Hosea is responsible and successful. In this book, Hosea was an obedient and faithful prophet of God, and he was responsible and followed all of the orders that were presented to him. With every order given to him, he did not fail. Gomer is irresponsible and unclean. Gomer was a woman that was very unclean and irresponsible. She was with many men and was not looking for love. Gomer is content with the life she lives. Gomer was always perfectly content with her life style and never thought about changing it. HOSEA AND GOMER FALL IN LOVE God gives Hosea a task. • 6. How A Person s Memory Works Memory Alexis Marie Robinson Mrs Reilly English III Honors Period 6 09 Of March 2015 How A Person s Memory Works Memory is a concept that refers to the process of remembering. Recalling memories uses the same neurological paths humans use originally to sense the experience which in result, almost recreates the event. Researchers believe memoryis a brain wide process, meaning that memory is not restricted to one area of the brain. Scent is one of the strongest senses tied to memory. Humans receive information through the five senses: 1sight, smell, taste, touch, and sound. Someone can imagine how different a memory would be for a person if one of they did not have one of their senses sight, sound, smell whatever the sense was that ties them closely to the memory the most. Memories are just different ways people store and remember various things they have sensed throughout life. 2It should be known that a single memory is a complex construction. For example, when people think of a simple object the brain retrieves the objects name, its shape, function, and anything else that closely ties itself to that object. 2Each part of this memory is from a different region of the brain. 3(Mohs and Turkington) As stated by April Holladay, memories of concepts and ideas are related to sense experiences because we extract the essence from sensed experiences to form generalized concepts. And in the past, many experts explained memory as a filing cabinet full of memory folders where ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This organism causes fever, headache, coughing blood, vomiting blood, severe bleeding, organ failure, and leads to death. It is spread through body fluids and blood of someone who is showing ebola symptoms. Ebola can also be spread by hazardous products (unclean needles or unscreened blood), skin to skin contact, exchanging saliva (kissing, sharing drinks or food), and making contact with a contaminated surface (doorknob, tissue, etc.). The most current outbreak of Ebola is in West Africawhich was discovered in March of 2014 and is considered one of the biggest Ebola outbreaks since Ebola was discovered in 1976. The countries affected the most by this virus are Liberia, Guinea, and Sierra Leone. These countries do not have a stable economy which means they cannot afford the tools and technology to study the virus. In 2014 there were 9,936 Ebola victims but only 4,877 died that year. However, we can see that this is not the reality but rather often times it can be oppressive, constraining, and enforces discriminatory legislation or policies that directly or indirectly works to target certain groups of people. This is especially evident when we look at the criminal laws which criminalize non able bodied and terminally ill individuals, who seek out assistance in dying because they feel that their life is no longer worth living, and as a result takes away their dignity and right to autonomy. Meanwhile, only four out of 100 adults will step in to stop it. And only 11 percent of the child s peers might do the same. The rest 85 percent will do nothing. Every day in America, more than 160,000 children miss school out of fear of being bullied, according to National Education Association estimates. Bullyingtakes many forms, ranging from the seemingly innocuous name calling to the more harmful cyberbullying to severe physical violence. It happens everywhere, at all times to the most vulnerable of kids, especially those who are obese, gay or have a disability. And besides the physical, emotional and psychological tolls it imposes on victims, bullying produces adverse socioeconomic outcomes. The Association for Psychological Science recently found that those who are bullies, victims or both are more likely to experience poverty, academic failure and job termination in their adulthood. In addition, they are likelier to commit crime and abuse drugs and alcohol. For schools, the financial burden caused by bullying is not to be ignored, either. According to a National Association of Secondary SchoolPrincipals report, the average public school can incur more than $2.3 million in lost funding and expenses as a result of suspensions, expulsions, vandalism, alternative placement and lower attendance. The type of people that are most often identified, as having achieved the American Dream are entrepreneurs who create successful and innovative companies, not the everyday middle class man. At the head of the formation of Silicon Valley was a man named Robert Noyce he was a physicist and a born salesman. The eight men all worked for a brilliant physicist named William Shockley, who was the co inventor of the transistor. The transistor was a revolutionary invention that became a step towards the microchip (American Experience). William Shockley an already Nobel Prize winning scientist decided to create his own semiconductor company. He had hired eight PhD graduates to work with him and improve the semiconductor and create new technologies. The eight men all focused on different fields there were physicists, mechanical and electrical engineers, metallurgists, and tool builders. Molecular archeologist Patrick McGovern believes fermentation of yeast was discovered nearly 9,000 years ago after he uncovered chemical traces of a fermented beverage found seeped into the porous clay of ancient pottery. It is safe to say that the brewingindustry is as old as civilization itself and over time humans have been able to be creative with the process and produce variations of beerrecipes. Drinking a beer can be defined as an experience involving the presentation of its storage along with the beverage itself. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The wort is then brought to a boil, only recent in todays world, and hops are introduced where they can break down and add different flavoring to the beer by releasing oils. The wort cools down and yeast is then added for fermentation to begin. The yeast breaks down the sugars from the mash and releases alcohol and carbon dioxide into the mixture. At this point in the brewing process, brewer can decide to brew an ale or a lager, and choose the correct yeast according to that decision. As the yeast finishes up its job, it begins to settle at the bottom of the fermentation vessel, leaving the final beer product (Quinn). Fig. 1 Since the beginning of fermentation history, potters and brewers have been linked by the beer market. Beer is a product of water, malt, and yeast and fermentation. Fermentation is fundamental in brewing because it gives beer its carbonation and alcohol content, so it is no wonder people began creating vessels, or amphorae, with a functional use suited for this chemical reaction. In Figure 1, amphorae that are shown generally had a specific shape with a tall narrow body and cylindrical neck, enabling beer to ferment due to yeast breaking down sugar into alcohol in a cyclical movement inside (Cartwright, 2013). • 15. Planned Market And Mixed Market Economies Planned, Market, and Mixed Economies Each country has its own economic system, a system for allocating its resources among its citizens, both individual and organizations (Ebert Griffin, 2015, p. 11). There are three economic systems: planned economies, market economies, and mixed market economies. Economic systems are defined by how the five factors of productions are handled: labor, capital, entrepreneurs, physical resources, and information resources. Factors of production are the resources that a country s businesses use to produce goods and services (Ebert Griffin, 2015, p. 11). Planned Economies A planned economy can be defined as an economy that relies on a centralized government to control all or most factors of production and to make all or most production and allocation decisions (Ebert Griffin, 2015, p. 12). There are two forms of planned economies: communism, in which the government owns and operates all factors of productions, and socialism, where the government owns and operates only selected factors of productions. China and North Korea are both examples of current communist countries; Denmark and Sweden are both examples of current socialist countries. My claim is that uniforms are a bad idea because they will not make students happy and they won t be happy that they don t get freedom to dress how they would like to. The most common argument against school uniforms is that they limit personal expression. • 21. Summary Of The Song Changes By Charles Bradley Changes by Charles Bradley is a song that resonates with me as a song that triggers an emotional response. The song was first released in 2013 and is a cover of the 1972 band Black Sabbath (Cory, 2017). It is apparent by the title that the topic for the song is the changes that the artist is going through or has gone through in his life. At the very beginning of the song, Bradley says She was my woman. I loved her so. But it s too late now. I ve let her go... But soon the world. Had its evil way , which illustrates the loss of a partner but is still ambiguous in how he lost her but one can infer it was due to death (Cory, 2017). Now, any time a song refers to the death of a loved one, it is easy to sympathize with because we have all lost... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When I first heard the song, I immediately searched for it on the internet and listened to the whole version because I thought it was such a powerful song. The lyrics of the song tell a story, it is one of pain and sorrow, but it s a story that I think everyone can relate to. The lyrics are very simple and they all come together to form a detailed depiction of Bradley s emotions. When I hear Bradley sing about his loss, it triggers me into thinking about the loved ones that I have lost. The rhythm of the song is very slow pace and calm, which sets the mood for Bradley s gritty deep voice, but when the chorus hits, then the saxophone jumps in to excite the whole song. The beat is soft enough to induce a deep thought and when the chorus hits, you do not get the usual sense of excitement but rather one of contempt delight. Lastly, the artist is another thing that triggers a Dionysian response for me, the reason being that Bradley looks just like my grandfather that passed about a year ago. Every time I see Bradley, I think of my grandfather and all of the time I spent with him, not to mention that the author s last name matches that of my family. Overall, I would say that the emotional response that I get when I hear this song is one of blissfulness and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Frances Piper is one of the four Piper girls, and she is different from the rest of them. From her early childhood, Frances is a bold and naughty girl who is always getting herself into trouble. She has a great mischievous streak which troubles her father, James Piper, immensely. James Piper himself has a demon like personality at various times throughout the novel, some of which he collects from his father in his early childhood. A hand job costs two fifty she has a special glove she wears, left over from her first communion. (293) Using a communion glove to perform vile acts is atrocious, because when that glove is used for a religious service, not a vile act. This is an instance where the reader can start to imagine that Frances may be representing the Devil because of her actions. Laura Robinson states that instead of labouring quietly for little pay, doing charitable work, and having reverence for patriarchs, Frances performs loudly, prostitutes herself, and demonstrates no respect for her father (Robinson 37). However, she also goes on to say that France works to provide the funds for Lily s escape from home and the dangers of the family (Robinson 37). MacDonald also mentions in the novel that Frances wants to start saving her money for Lily, and is putting her money away in a secret place (293). • 23. The Derivatives Of Cellulose Cellulose is a well known carbohydrate that is currently being impressively utilized within the food industry. Derivatives of cellulose, can be used to improve texture, to act as edible microcomposite films, and to provide antibacterial packaging. Some cellulose derivatives are carboxymethyl cellulose, microcrystalline cellulose, hydroxy propyl methyl cellulose, and microfibrillated cellulose (Belitz et al. 2009). Cellulose is a polysaccharide derived from plant cell walls that is digestible by the enzyme cellulase (Belitz et al. 2009). Humans can not digest cellulose because cellulase is not present in the digestive tract, however this indigestible carbohydrate is a major component of dietary fiber and improves digestion (Belitz et al. 2009). On the other hand, herbivores have rumen microflora that can hydrolyze cellulose (Belitz et al. 2009). Cellulose consists of a flat and linear structure containing hydrogen bonds that form polycrystalline fiber bundles (Huber and BeMiller 2017). There are repeating glucopyranosyl units bound by 14 glycosidic linkages which form pleated chains parallel to the direction of the fibers (Belitz et al. 2009). The source of the cellulose affects the degree of polymerization which can range from 1000 to 14000 (Belitz et al. 2009). The hydrogen bonds that stabilize the parallel chains cause cellulose to have a high molecular weight and be insoluble in water, however it can be modified to become water soluble gums (Huber and BeMiller 2017). ... • 25. Computer Fraud And Identity Theft Abstract In today s world where computers, cellular phones, wireless internet connections and electronic transactions are common place norms, maintaining ones identity can be a challenge. In 2012 the United States population was 314.1 million people, in the same year, 75.6 percent of households reported having a computer. (Government Census, 2012) With this high population and electronic use, one could extrapolate that there is high risk for computer fraud and identity theft. For example consider these statistics in 2013, identity theft complaints accounted for 14% of all complaints. The most common form of reported identity theft was government documents/benefits fraud, 34%, followed by credit card fraud, 17%, phone or utilities fraud, 14%, and bank fraud, 8%. Forty one percent of identity theft complainants reported whether they contacted law enforcement. Of those victims, 74% notified a police department and 61% indicated a report was taken. (Government Census, 2012) There are many ways to counter identity theft, some being not to give out personal data or to make sure to properly destroy/secure all important documentation. These methods of protection seem quite feasible and often time practical, however with the rate at which identity theft occurs the validity of these protections might come into question. Therefore this research proposal begs the questions of how effective are these counter measures, to what degree are the counter measures followed by the victims, and ... The book describes how the Antalects are still part of modern education. The quote I chose for this paragraph is in chapter 4, page 105. The quote says A true gentleman is made, not born, says the master . The paragraph is talking about gentleman, and how one becomes a gentleman. I agree with this statement, because when someone; boy or girl, is born, they don t automatically open doors for others. They have to be taught how to respect people, and if the parent or guardian does not do that, the child has to teach itself. They look at how other people act and choose to be nice, polite and respectful, or rude and dishonest. This makes me feel happy, because the author is stating what I believe. ... With all that the U.S. has to offer, it is unethical to see how the health care system has failed and is continuing to fail countless Americans. We constantly hear the stories of citizens who have benefited from their insurance, gone through challenges with insurers, or can not be insured based on their pre existing medical history. With companies such as Microsoft, employees do not pay a dime out of pocket for any of their medical needs and their families needs regardless of the cost. Also under these broad organization insurances, employees with pre existing health conditions can not be turned away. As for all other American citizens who work in small businesses, the insurance offered to them comes at a high coverage cost with an even higher deductible or co pays and coverage limits. • 32. The Language Acquisition Of Children It is a well known fact that all children acquire language the same way, regardless of what the language in question is. For example, we can create an analogy by comparing the process of acquiring a language to learning how to play a new game. If one wishes to play a new game he must first go over some basic rules, which in our case would be: understanding sounds, words and sentences and how they can be combined into meaningful structures. Since language can be considered a highly complex game there are many rules which are divided into levels that depend on each other. Therefore, to understand some higher principles of language one must first acquire all of the lower ones that support them. Observing how a child acquires a language... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Secondly, the language and dialect of a particular environment in which the child grows up in affect the acquisition so it is very likely that the child will initially adopt that language and dialect naturally. Generally, they begin to converse using the language their parents employ, but soon after, as they start to integrate with other children, they start speaking like them. This usually begins at the age of three. Children will also pick up on the grammar mainly used within its community; whether it s standard or non standard grammar doesn t matter to them. For example if a child grows up in a neighbourhood where the majority of people use sentences such as I done it , inevitably the child will also pick up this type of speech and use it since he doesn t know the difference between correct and incorrect grammar. To them one rule applies always as long as adults use this type of language it remains correct from the child s point of view. The process, by which humans reach the capacity to comprehend and perceive language, as well as to produce words and sentences to communicate, is called language acquisition. It is one of the traits of the human being as other species do not use language to communicate. • 41. Edith Wharton s Roman Fever The majority of people in society today believe in free will and that they can choose what happens in their own life. Others acknowledge an unknown force that shapes their lives, which they have no control over. This conflict can be explained by the Determinism theory. Determinism is a philosophy described as human beings having no free willand therefore, cannot control their own actions and should not be held accountable. This philosophy is seen in Edith Wharton s short story Roman Fever by her characters Mrs. Slade and Mrs. Ansley as they argue about a letter and an affair in the duration of the story. Wharton s main characters are on opposing sides of the philosophy of determinism, with Mrs. Slade representing determinism and Mrs. Ansley representing free will, respectively and each effectively showing Wharton s disagreement to determinism. In Roman Fever , Mrs. Slade represented determinism in the duration of the story through her jealousy and similar emotions. Her thoughts and actions in the story towards her lifelong friend has traces of jealousy and bewilderment throughout the story. For example when reminiscing on the days of their youth in Rome, she realized that, There was no one of whom she had less right to think unkindly than of Grace Ansley. Would she never cure herself of envying her! (Wharton 6). Mrs. Slade talks about how her life is boring and now that her husband has passed away, her life is even more dreary. She envious of the type of daughter ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The bad guy role is the second way of surviving the new world. There are many groups of people the man and the boy meet on the road, all of them but three are bad. The bad guys rape, kill and eat other humans, and everything they have, they got from stealing. The bad guys are made of two kinds of people; the people who were always rotten inside and the people left with no choice. The new world gave the rotten people an opportunity to rise and blossom without being punishment by the law, for it does not exist anymore. The people who had no choice were good guys who couldn t be good anymore, because if they remained good, they would die. A horrific example of a group of bad guys, are the third people the man and the boy run into. The man woke up one morning just in time to see the army of people coming towards them. He grabs the boy and their supplies and drags them into the woods to hide. The man gives a detailed description of army and what they own. An army in tennis shoes. Carrying three foot lengths of pipe with leather wrappings [...] Bearded, their breath smoking through their masks [...] Behind them wagons drawn, by slaves in harness and piled with goods of war and after that the women, perhaps a dozen in number, some of them pregnant, and lastly a supplementary consort of catamites illclothed against the cold and fitted in dog collars and yoked each to each. • 43. The Effects of Alcohol on People s Health Different researchers have carried out research on the effects of alcohol on people s health, on people s attention to different activities and their general well being. The following are some of the researches that have been carried out by different researchers on factors that affect people s social attentionthat may be of importance in carrying out this research. According to Roberts, W., Miller, M. A., Weafer, J., Fillmore, M. T. (2014), these researchers carried out a research on how alcohol inhibits one s attention control. These researchers used a group of healthy social drinkers to carry out their research. The healthy social drinkers in this experiment were required to remain attentive in carrying out various tasks by inhibiting different inhibitory factors that affect one s attention in doing something. It was found that people who drank alcohol heavily were not able to control their social attention. That is, these people were easily distracted by different stimuli especially alcohol related stimuli. On the other hand, people who used alcohol less often or who did not use it at all were able to control their social attention in doing something. That is, they were not easily distracted by various stimuli. Then Birmingham and Kingstone (2009), researched on social attention and what affects it. These researchers used two groups of adolescents. One group of these adolescents was made of normal and healthy teenagers while the other group was made of adolescents with ... Their plan includes increasing efficiency and performance across all departments. In order to achieve this, they are focusing on creating a more flexible infrastructure that will allow the hospital to respond to changes in demand as well as patient initiatives (monitor.gov, 2010). Another factor in helping the hospital to achieve their goals is the further investing in the infrastructure which will allow them to compete with other health care facilities for patient care and also an increased cash flow. It should be noted that the hospital has also created strategic planning for collaborative work with other health care factions in order to create the proper levels of access and quality in all departments and other facilities in order to ensure the best care is given across all demographics and geographic lines. This collaborative work not only benefits the communities, but also creates a network of services that can better serve the residents and all other health care workers and organizations. This collaboration can also ensure the profitability and sustainability of not only Bristol, but also the partnering organizations. This leads to the final strategic planning goal of understanding the profitability of procedures and patient care. With the finances of the hospital being as it is, it is imperative to note that if a situation arose whereby the nursing union has begun bargaining and has demanded a ten percent increase in salaries, a ... • 45. Is Informed Consent Always Necessary for Randomized,... Is informed consent always necessary for randomized, controlled trials? The following sentences are different scenarios that answer the question. Informed consent should not be waived unless the treatment is offered inside and outside the trial. Treatment should not involve more than minimal risk compared to alternatives. Genuine clinic must value the treatments the same. No reasonable person should have a preference for one treatment or another (Truog et al. 1999). If the treatments can be found in and outside of the trial, then you don t need the consent of the patient. For example, a trial comparing a beta blocker with an angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor for treatment of hypertension should not be approved for a waiver of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The author states, Should specific informed consent be sought from a patient enrolled in the study? If so, then what should be done if the patient chooses not to participate (Truog et al. 1999)? In this scenario the patient does not give their consent to participate in the trial so the dilemma of what to do with the patient rises. Should no data be collected on the patient or should they be moved out of the program and if that happens, what was the point of having the trial in the first place? If you have to collect informed consent from patients in the trial it is going to make the data polls smaller and harder to collect. Genuine clinical treatments must exist in balance when weigh against one another (Truog et al. 1999). That this is trying to explain is that when in a trial you cannot have a treatment that has more risks or wait time compared to an alternative treatment. For example, if treatment one has larger risks and a longer recovery time compared to treatment two, which has fewer risks and a short recovery time, then the treatments are not balanced. In this example treatment one and two have the same over all out come, but since treatments are not balanced the patient must give informed consent before undergoing any treatment. If informed consent is not collected, how well the patients know if they are getting the treatment in the trial that best suits their wishes? The author states If the ... • 46. The Film One Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest In the novel and the film One Flew over the Cuckoo s Nest there are a variety of transformations. In the film the actors are not portrayed, looks wise, as they are in the book. There are many characters whose appearances aren t how they are described in the book, like Nurse Ratched and Chief Bromden. There are also many events and incidents that happen in the book that do not happen in the movie. The movie includes a character or two that was not mentioned in the book and characters are portrayed differently than how they are in the book. The biggest difference between the film and the book is the story s point of view. Chief Bromden is the narrator in the novel. He unfolds the story of all the chaos between Nurse Ratched and Randle McMurphy. In the book Chief is portrayed to be the hero who endures the most changes in the book. In spite of the fact of him describing the all the horrific events in the mental hospital, Chief reveals biographical information of his own life before he was institutionalized. Chief is a paranoid schizophrenic, war veteran, and a half breed Indian. His mother is a white woman who worked with the U.S. government. She then later, weakened his proud father who was a very strong Indian man. The movie does have Chief narrating it like in the novel. The movie also fails to mention the background story of Chief, and lowers his role in the movie to make McMurphy stand out more. In the film, McMurphy is made out to be the hero. • 48. The Demise Of African Prosperity The Demise of African Prosperity: Effects of the Transatlantic Slave Trade The Transatlantic slave trade, a catastrophic event in the 15th to 19th century, affected millions of Africans and Europeans alike. Slaves were ripped from their homes and sent to the foreign lands, becoming the fundamental source of labour for mining and agricultural industries in the New World. Historians Hugh Thomas, Walter Rodney and John Thornton have contradictory beliefs about the effects of the Transatlantic slave trade on Africa. Thomas argues that the slave trade was beneficial to Africa, while Rodney argues a more negative position, claiming that the unequal trade lead to population loss and warfare. Thornton argues neutrally states that the slave trade was simply an internal trade diverted to the Atlantic. Although historians such as Hugh Thomas believe that the Transatlantic provided short term economic stimulus to Urban Empires, the slave trade was overall detrimental, leading to economic consequences and social and political conflict. The African Slave trade, as stated by Hugh Thomas in The Atlantic World in the Age of Empire brought an influx of European goods and employment, providing a short term benefit that was, in the long term, detrimental to the African economy. Contrary to John Thornton s speculation of Europe and Africa s partnership, Europe imposed economic dependency and involuntary trade on Africa, which deprived Africa of labor, impaired its development, and ...
