While I believed my writing to be concise, yet thorough in the beginning of the
semester, it became clear to me that that was not the case. When entering EN3414, I
had no knowledge of critical theories or how to use secondary sources to enhance my
argument instead of carry it. I believed my heavy sentence phrasing to be an asset
instead of a way to bury my argument beneath long thoughts. In EN3414, I was able to
focus on taking my papers straight to my argument, to avoid useless sources or let them
lead the paperinstead of letting my argument carry the essay. And because I have
learned to revise and rewrite my papers as many times as possible before they are due, I
can no acknowledge the parts of my essay that are too heavy or that need to be

European colonists at the time had an extreme sense of racial superiority over the
Africans who were perceived to be savage and uncivilized. According to the English
poet Rudyard Kipling in his poem the White Man s Burden, it was the moral duty and

Summary Mika Ko s chapter Representing the Zainichi is about the representation of
zainichi in contemporary Japanese cinema. She discusses the change in how they are

change she uses two movies in particular, namely All Under the Moon and Go. Even
before the success of these two movies, Koreans popped up and were represented in
Japanese movies as early as the 1930s, mainly under an object subject relationship:
Korea being the object, and with Japan as the subject. Though it was later on, during the
1950s and 60s that film makers shed light on the political and social issues zainichi face

character in this movie, Sugihara, is not the conventional zainichi character. He is good

Unemployment and the rate of Inflation are two main problems faced by most
economies around the world. Lower rates of each are sought after in order to create and
maintain a more stable economy. Unemployment rate can be officially defined as a
measure of the prevalence of unemployment and it is calculated as a percentage by
dividing the number of unemployed individuals by all individuals currently in the labour
force. The inflationrate is the percentage rate of change of a price index over time. The
Retail Prices Index is also a measure of inflation that is commonly used in the United
Kingdom. It is broader than the CPI and contains a larger basket of goods and services.
By obtaining data for two countries, UK and France, on unemployment rate and CPI,
which allowed me to calculate inflation rate and then further the change in inflation rate,
I have been able to construct the table above. This table clearly shows the comparison
between the two countries between the time period of 1970 2013. From this table I am
able to create graphs to represent the data in an aesthetically pleasing format a picture

This line graph represents the comparison of the changes of unemployment rate data

Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, two of Hamlet s childhood friends, may often be
perceived as half men. For this to be vividly clear to the readers, one must take out the
literal sense of this claim and see it in a more figurative manner. The audience might
consider Rosencrantz and Guildenstern to be one single entity; two different people with
one indistinguishable persona. There is evidence throughout the play where Shakespeare
intricately weaves Rosencrantz and Guildensterntogether as a single individual. For
example, entering a room together, finishing each other s ideas, and repetition of the
same sentences. When in conversation Guildenstern speaks not only for himself, but for

Rosencrantz and Guildenstern into one holistic, memorable character. The combination

The distinctively visuals represented Tykwer s film, is significantly strong as unique images dominate the screen to create a thrilling and suspenseful film. The story is told through images, symbols and motifs as there is a noticeably limited amount of dialogue. I always start with an image as quoted by Tykwer emphasising his unique ways of depicting his ideas. The most significant visual conveyed throughout Run Lola Run is that of time. There are several references to the limited amount of time Lola has to save Manni from Ronnie and his gang. The film is played out in real time as each run takes 20 minutes to complete, adding an atmosphere of realism and tension toward the viewer. Tykwer incorporates a variety of symbolic representations of time through the constant use of clocks. In the opening sequence, the viewer observes a large and dominating pendulum of the gargoyal clock swinging loudly from side to side. As Lola runs out of the apartment, we observe a clock in Lola s bedroom.
