College Persuasive Essays
Writing an essay on the topic of "College Persuasive Essays" can be both challenging and
rewarding. The difficulty lies in the need to navigate through various aspects that make a
persuasive essay effective. Firstly, you must conduct thorough research to gather relevant
information and evidence to support your stance. This requires sifting through numerous sources,
academic articles, and perhaps even interviewing experts to build a strong foundation for your
arguments.
Next, structuring the essay in a coherent and logical manner is essential. A persuasive essay
typically follows a clear introduction, body paragraphs with well-organized arguments, and a
compelling conclusion. Crafting each section with precision requires a deep understanding of the
topic and a strategic approach to presenting your ideas persuasively.
Moreover, the language used in a college persuasive essay should be sophisticated and
persuasive. This entails selecting appropriate vocabulary, employing rhetorical devices, and
maintaining a tone that engages the reader. Balancing the need for formality with the desire to
connect with the audience can be a delicate task.
Additionally, addressing potential counterarguments is crucial in a persuasive essay. Anticipating
opposing views and effectively refuting them adds credibility to your position. This requires a
nuanced understanding of the subject matter and the ability to critically analyze different
perspectives.
Despite these challenges, the process of writing a college persuasive essay offers valuable
opportunities for personal and intellectual growth. It enhances research skills, critical thinking,
and the ability to articulate complex ideas persuasively.
In conclusion, while crafting a persuasive essay on the topic of "College Persuasive Essays"
poses certain difficulties, the skills developed in the process are invaluable. The journey involves
extensive research, thoughtful structuring, eloquent language use, and the ability to address
counterarguments. If you find yourself overwhelmed, remember that assistance is available.

Who Is Hernando De Soto
Hernanado DeSoto
BY:MARKAYLA HURD
Hernando de Soto was a Spanish explorer and conquistador who led the first
European expedition deep into the territory of the modern day United States. He is
the first European documented as having crossed the Mississippi River. Wikipedia
Born: 1500, Province of Badajoz, Spain
Died: May 21, 1542, Mississippi River
Nationality: Spanish
Spouse: InГ©s de Bobadilla (m. 1537 1542)
Siblings: Catalina de Soto, Maria de Soto, Juan Mendez de Soto
De Soto s North American expedition was a vast undertaking. It ranged throughout
the southeastern United States, both searching for gold, reported by various Indian
tribes and earlier explorers, and a passage to China or the Pacific coast. De Soto died
in 1542 on the banks of the Mississippi River[5] in what is now Guachoya, Arkansas
or Ferriday, Louisiana.
Hernando de Soto was born c. 1500 in Jerez de los Caballeros, Spain. In the early
1530s, while on Francisco Pizarro s expedition, de Soto helped conquer Peru. In 1539
he set out for North America, where he discovered the Mississippi River. De Soto
died of fever on May 21, 1542, in Ferriday, Louisiana. In his will, de Soto named Luis
de Moscoso Alvarado the new leader of the expedition.

Explorer and conquistador Hernando de Soto was born c. 1500 to a noble but poor
family in Jerez de los Caballeros, Spain. He was raised at the family manor. A
generous patron named Pedro Arias DГЎvila funded de Soto s education at the

Mass Media And Its Effect On The Air Waves
Mass media distribution has been around since the invention of the printing press.
(Gerbner, 1999) However, broadcast radio presented a higher level of distribution
speed to this process and allowed for an extended reach to consumers. Since its
creation, this technology has been controlled by FCC regulations and advertising
support, limiting the freedom of the broadcasters so all of the possible listeners are
happy. Between the government maintenance and listening trends, the range of music
and content on the air waves has been reduced to 5 basic genres. The introduction of
the internet has allowed this medium to once again evolve. The reach has been
greatly extended, advertising made optional and freedom of use increased. This being
said, the largest attraction to internet radiois its ability to be customized by the
listener. Historically, the concept of internet radio has been around since the early
1990s. These broadcasts were still very limited because most of them were streams
from terrestrial radio stations or niche talk shows. Carl Malamud began this
phenomena with a weekly computer talk show, interviewing experts and streaming
it openly online. These types of broadcasts became so popular that The Rolling
Stone began playing a concert over the web as well. This idea would be copied over
and over again by every musician and music producer. As file sharing spread and
download speeds increased, issues began to rise between music streamers and the
Sovereignty Is A Modern Political Theory Of International
Sovereignty is a modern political theory of international relations that is supported
by a multitude of political theorists to rid the world of barbaric methods of
competition. A sovereign is a supreme political power that works best with the
existence of state lines and the geographic location of the people ruled under it to
ease the organizational constraints of having a large number of people and
territories. Contrarily, Charles Beitz heavily criticizes this idea of a sovereign
because of its lack of attention to humans as individuals and the interests they
should be free to pursue. In his eyes, state lines should not be the only limit to which
individuals should receive or have access to natural resources. He believes a
sovereign takes... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When extended to the state level, this concept of forcefully acquiring goods and
land leads to vicious wars at the expense of a meaningful life for the persons living
in the conflicting states. Human rights and social justice are ignored, and in these
states there is no account of Time; no Arts; no Letters; no Society; ... And the life of
man, solitary, poore, nasty, brutish, and short. During wartime, a state is only
concerned with the concept of winning or ensuring that the opposing side does not
win. Life within the state is no longer worth living considering the people s interests
are not being represented. Competition for things without laws or control creates an
environment of free will in which the stakes are continually raised higher until there
is nothing left of the state to exist; therefore, an overarching power of law such as a
sovereign must be put into effect to manifest the significance of defining what is
right versus wrong. To control the need for uneconomical wars, a sovereign is created
that will aid in the justification, preservation, and enforcement of laws. In The Thirty
Years War, for example, Johannes Burkhardt states that a decision was met after the
dominant powers concluded that the plurality of states did not necessarily represent
anarchy or some flawed political concept that had to be done
How Is Heart Of Darkness Feminist Perspective
This essay will take a feminist approach on Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad.
The main focus of this discussion lies with characterization, how women are
represented as well as how this image compares to reality. When one focuses on the
portrayal of women in Heart of Darkness, it becomes evident that the representation
of women in the novel reflects the ideology of women s role in society. As the
book was written and published in the eighteen hundreds, this is to be expected as
there was still a patriarchal society. The separate sphere and oppression is very
dominant in the story. The main character, Marlow, has a strong opinion of what a
woman s role is in society. He indirectly states that it is improper for women to have
a career... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In that same waiting room is another woman present who does not speak either, but
glances with an unconcerned wisdom and seemed uncanny and fateful (Conrad
11). As women did not have the freedom to express their thoughts, they might have
come across as mysterious. Marlow finds this woman mysterious and threatening
which connects to Beauvoir s idea of men not understanding women and
classifying them as angels or demons (De Beauvoir 1269). Beauvoir states that
Women are mystified, as the man who does not understand a woman is happy to
substitute an objective resistance for a subjective deficiency of mind; instead of
admitting his ignorance, he perceives the presence of a mystery outside himself:
an alibi, indeed, that flatters laziness and vanity at once (1268). These concepts
seem accurate in this novel especially when comparing Kurtz intended with the
native African woman. Kurtz fiancГ©e symbolizes the perfect example of how
women should be according to men. Women are shaped after biology and cultural
defined characteristics (Barry 117). This woman believes that this is how she is
supposed to be because this is how God and society intended it. She is an
oppressed woman in a domestic sphere devoted to her husband, the man she has to
thank for her status. Kurtz keeps referring to her as my intended which makes her
seem as yet another object that he owns. Comparing this to the native African
woman, who is wild, confident and more powerful which is shown by her ivory
jewelry, she is the opposite of the Western white woman. This makes her mysterious
and frightening. However, though her higher status and Marlow s fear towards her,
she is still a woman in the eyes of the white man and Kurtz s only interest in her
seems to be the ivory. She is his road to wealth which
Free University Education
Free University Education
The essential and the basic level of education should be made free for all and sundry
as it plays one of the most important roles in life of every human being in establishing
and polishing his intellectuality and personality. It is the root, base and a building
block in child s development. The world has changed and moved so much that
without education it is really tough for someone to live. But on the higher lever of
education like university is really costly. So making it free would result in varied
problems.

the high school and the college. Till that time he has become mature enough to be

However, there are also some advantages of free education in the universities.
Although scholarships are intended for the disadvantaged few, the disadvantaged
are just few. Scholarships help only a handful, for others providing free education
would come as a great relief. There is less stress on students including the work and
paying the tuition fees, which is truly good for their general health, as they are
already enough stressed for social life and exams. There will be a higher number
of students learning and that increase the literacy rate of the nation will probably
reduce the quantity of young people who are involved in wrong or the bad
activities such as getting addicted to drugs, gambling, etc. Students who come
from a low family background would have a lot of time for their studies, for them
to relax and for themselves as they won t be working for hours and fighting for
extra shifts in order to pay their fees. There would be equal opportunities for both
the rich and the poor students as not now and the poor students won t blame their
fate. There would be better governance. Educated people would not only just better
choices in electing their representatives but also are better equipped to question
corruption and misuse of power. There would be improvement in the quality of life.
Free schooling would lead to more educated people and more educated people in the
society leads to overall improvement in the quality of life in the society. It also can be
Father and Son in Death of a Salesman, and Fences Essay
The role of a father could be a difficult task when raising a son. The ideal
relationship between father and son perhaps may be; the father sets the rules and
the son obeys them respectfully. However it is quite difficult to balance a healthy
relationship between father and son, because of what a father expects from his
son. For instance in the narratives, Death of a Salesman, and Fences both Willy and
Troy are fathers who have a difficult time in earning respect from their sons, and
being a role model for them. Between, Death of a Salesman, and Fences, both
protagonists, Willy and Troy both depict the role of a father in distinctive ways;
however, in their struggle, Willy is the more sympathetic of the two. In comparing

Furthermore, unlike Willie and his two sons, Troy s son, Cory, had a job and also
assisted Troy with payments. The portrayal between, Willie and Troy as fathers,
has had an impact in the development of their sons differently. Firstly, Willie has
always had high hopes in his older son, Biff. Willie believed that in raising Biff, he
will one day be successful, and ambitious. However, it is a pity that it never turned
out that way. In fact, throughout the story, Biff reveals that he is not ambitious.
Hap, the trouble is we weren t brought up to grub for money. I don t know how to
do it. (Gioia, 2010) It is a shame that Willie is a hardworking man who dreams in
success and Biff was not born with equal desire. It would not be a surprise if Willie
felt heartbreak; to be unable to set an example for his son Biff to follow. On the
other hand, Troy could be described as a character that is selfish. Throughout the
story, Fences Troy reveals his selfishness when interfering with Cory s potential in
football, and telling him that working is more important. You go on down there to
that A P and see if you can get your job back. If you can t do both...then you quit the
football team. (Gioia, 2010) Undoubtedly, Troy s interest is more concentrated in
ensuring that the bills get paid, than to agree with Cory playing football. Furthermore
Troy wants Cory to maintain that job because

The Conservation Of Chimpanzees Is The Idea Of
Protecting...
The conservation of Chimpanzees is the idea of protecting this endangered species
from going extinct. The ides of protecting the chimps are motivated by their human
like characteristics, and ability to be seen as little people . People want to save the
reflection of themselves because they feel that a piece of our humanhistory will be
lost without them.
There isn t a big difference between humans and chimps as we once thought. Humans,
chimps and bonobos descended from a single ancestor species that lived six million
years ago. Gradually evolution has evolved them to become three separate species.
Although they come from a common ancestor, their DNA that was passed down from
generation to generation has changed due to adaptations in the gene, environmental
factors, reproductive fitness, and mate selection. Bones and muscle tissue are the
same in both species.
The only differentiation is the bipedal and quadrupedal movement. Bipedalism
adapted to have shorter arms while for quadrupedalism the arm length is much
longer. The facial features are quite similar. Both have little hairs all over their
body, similar eye shape, ear and mouth structure. Chimps even get bald spots on
their head like older men when it comes to aging. When looking at a chimp it is
easy to see the resemblance we share. We enjoy watching these creatures do human
like activities in the media because they look like little people, it s so adorable and
entertaining. These chimps can even function in
Opiates Research Paper
Opiates are a commonly prescribed medication today in America. These powerful
medications come from the poppy plant and are known to relieve pain. They fall into
a class known as narcotics, which also includes other pain relievers. The term is often
used interchangeably with the term opioids, drugs similar to opium. Regardless of
what you call them, opiate addictionhappens quite frequently.
Examples of Opiate Addiction
Even if you haven t heard the term opiates, you ve probably heard of the various
drugs responsible for an opiate addiction. These include:
Natural opiates: opium, morphine, codeine
Man made opiates, also commonly referred to as opioids: demerol, oxycodone (a.k.a.
OxyContin or Percocet), vicodin, fentanyl, methadone, ... Show more content on

deadly additives.
Slang for Opiate Addiction
Teens are becoming quite skilled at hiding their opiate addiction. They ve developed
a subculture full of slang words for them. As a parent, it s important for you to know
this slang too. There are a few ways this is done, including:
Shortening the brand name or the manufacturer s name to just one syllable so
Vicodin is Vic; Percocet is Perc; Oxycontin is Oxy, OC, Roxy, or Ocean
Referring simply to the drug s common chemical base, which is either hydrocodone (
Hydros ) or oxycodone ( Drones )
Referencing the pill s weight or dosage size: Oxycontin is available in four different
doses including 10mg, 20mg, 40mg, and 80 mg so your teen may say they need to
find some 10 s, 20 s, 40 s, or 80 s respectively
Although it seems like there s a lot to know about opiates and opiate addiction, it s
important you arm yourself with this knowledge. This is the only way you can
effectively protect your teen today. However, there s a lot more information you ll
also want to know and understand. After all, you want to know how to know if
your teen is hooke on opiates and what you can do when your teen is hooked on
opiates. This addiction is so real today, these things should be considered an essential

National Debt In America
The National Debt in America has been a major concern for many years. The United
States has spent a large amount of money, accumulating trillions of dollars in national
debt. The United States national debt is the sum total of all deficits. National debt
poses a threat to future generations. While the majority of Americans recognize that
debt is not a good thing. Yet, many Americans grapple with comprehending the
theories of the national debt and deficit. More importantly, if Americans were
enlightened about the economic policy they could relieve the economy. If the
government could find a balance between creating more revenue and spending less
money, educating the public of the national debt. Americans could reduce the amount
of federal budget deficit and the national debt.... Show more content on

Despite America being in trillions of dollars worth of debt the government continues
to borrow more money and surprisingly functions. Foreign countries continue to lend
the United States money because the economy of other nations would plummet. Other
countries are just as dependent on the American economy flourishing as Americans
are. With regards to this, the public debt and deficit will be increased if a nation goes
over budget. The deficit is the amount of money the nation has spent versus the
amount of money a nation has earned. Public debt is how much the government has
borrowed from other countries and has not payed back. Both the national debt and
the deficit affect each other. Generally, government debt increases from spending and
decreases from taxes. However, government debt fluctuates throughout the course of
a year. For example, if a nation spends more than budgeted they will increase the
debt. In a like manner, if a nation goes under the national debt they will reduce the
Confronting the Past, Living the Present, and Enjoying the...
So often, the old adage, History always repeats itself, rings true due to a failure to
truly confront the past, especially when the memory of a period of time sparks
profoundly negative emotions ranging from anguish to anger. However, danger lies
in failing to recognize history or in the inability to reconcile the mistakes of the past.
In her novel, Beloved, Toni Morrisonexplores the relationship between the past,
presentand future. Because the horrors of slavery cause so much pain for slaves
who endured physical abuse as well as psychological and emotional hardships,
former slaves may try to block out the pain, failing to reconcile with their past.

Sethe understands that her history, filled with the pain of slavery, grief over losing
her children, and guilt over Beloved s death, and tries to hide from all the anguish.
However, she admits that the past seems to always be there waiting, thereby
emphasizing the idea that past horrors of life continue to haunt forever. It appears
as though the power of her experience in slavery influences her so greatly that the
memory triggers great pain, causing the horrifying incidents to happen again. Even
though Sethe understands that she cannot ever fully escape her history as it will
come back to trouble her, she still tries to avoid them and thus attempts to shield her
daughter from the horrors of history: As for Denver, the job Sethe had of keeping
her from the past that was still waiting for her was all that mattered (45). It seems as
though Sethe tries to deny the fact that history does not simply disappear. She still
tries to protect Denver from the past even though history waits, prepared to cause
trouble and inflict the pain Sethe tries to repress. It appears as though Sethe
continuously tries to fight against her memories and ignore her past in part one. For
example, after she wakes, she begins Working dough. Working, working dough.
Nothing better than that to start the day s
The Suez Crisis
In the Suez Crisis, not all other ways of resolving the problem should have been
tried first because it was a surprise attack on Egypt. The British did not try other
ways of solving the crisis and did not try diplomacy with Egypt. The British took
prompt action against Nasser because they feared that their power in the Middle East
would be compromised because of him. (Dooley) They colluded with France and
Israelso that they would all attack Egyptand forcefully recover the Suez Canal. Prime
Minister Eden did not consider many options besides war because he saw a
parallel between how Hitler had begun by remilitarizing the Rhineland; Nasser had
expropriated the Suez Canal. (Kunz 97) Consequently, he did not want to try to
appease Nasser because he feared that the Egyptians would influence the rest of the
Middle East and cut off their oil supply. Although war should have been a last resort
the British s immediate impulse was to hit Nasser hard and quickly (Dooley).
Clearly, diplomacy was not considered because the British hoped to seize the Suez
Canal by force. This is why they secretly colluded in hopes of bombarding the
Egyptians and forcing them to relinquish control of the canal. Almost immediately,
Britain with France started well publicized military preparations in the Mediterranean
they hoped to force Egypt to agree to give the Suez Canal to the international
community. (Epstein) When Egypt refused British, France and Israel retaliated
against the Egyptians.
Movie And Film Version Of To Kill A Mockingbird
The film version of To Kill a Mockingbird (1962), which stars Gregory Peck as
Atticus and Mary Badham as Scout, is as much a classic as the novel itself. (The film
received eight Academy Awards nominations and netted awards for Best Actor, Best
Screenplay Based on Material from Another Medium, and Best Art Direction Set
Decoration, Black and White.)
Ideally, a novel and its film version complement each other, which, on many levels,
is the case with To Kill a Mockingbird. However, film can accomplish things that
novels can t, and vice versa. Likewise, film has limitations that a novel doesn t. This
essay explores some of the differences between To Kill a Mockingbird, the film and
the novel.
Narration
By its nature, film is a visual medium, which makes a first person story difficult to
tell. To have Scout narrating throughout the film as she does in the book would
prove distracting, so Scout as narrator is only presented to set the mood of a scene
in the film. As a result, viewers don t get a strong sense of Scout s first person
narration as they do in the book; instead, they simply notice the childlike perspective
portrayed in the story. (The film uses music to help reinforce the child s point of
view. The music is very elementary, and much of the score is composed of single
notes without chords or embellishments.)
Because the narration is not as straightforward in the film, the film seems to shift
more to Jem s experiences. For example, Jem finds all the articles in
Effective Our Current Proposal Forms Are At Gathering...
unprofitability of the portfolio could be due to the underwriters not gathering
enough relevant risk details when underwriting the risk, this can lead to under
pricing or even losing out on desirable risks due to overpricing. I would consider
how effective our current proposal forms are at gathering relevant risk
information. Proposal forms are a valuable tool in gathering risk information, not
just financial details of the proposer but also risk management procedures. The
proposal forms may currently place too much focus on share price and profits of
the client and not enough on management processes, these factors are important
when rating D O risks. Are our policies competitive with other insurers in the
market? D O insurers are facing very intense competition and are under pressure to
ensure that they can differentiate themselves from the rest of the market. The
market has become saturated with insurers offering cover and there is ample
market capacity for insureds to shop around. (CII study text on Liability
insurances, 2016). The market capacity means buyers of this type of cover can
expect broad terms and conditions at attractive prices. The policies we are currently
offering may be uncompetitive in terms of premium and cover offered in
comparison to the rest of the market. Claim trends and internal overhead costs When
assessing the portfolio of D O cover I would firstly establish why it is currently
unprofitable. If profit margins are not being met it is likely
Role Of Servants In Volpone
The portrayal of servants in Shakespeare s and Jonson s plays is contrasting. In
Jonson s city comedies servants are depicted as unethical, manipulating their masters
greed and egocentrism in order to fulfill their own plans and goals. On the other
hand, in Shakespeare s pastoral comedies servants are portrayed as loyal, devoted,
reliable and helpful to their masters.
To be more specific, in Jonson s city comedy Volpone the city is portrayed as a dog
eat dog, antagonistic competitive world which is profit orientated, where
everything is commodified. In other words, it is a society that is governed only by
greed and profit. Therefore, almost all of his characters are greedy for power, money,
food, alcohol or sex. Jonson satirizes that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jonson s connection to Aesop s Fables is obvious, as all the character names in
Volpone recall animals, insects or birds. For example Volpone means fox in
Italian, Mosca means Fly etc. In that sense, Volpone draws from a tradition of
Aesopian beast fables. Jonson wants to create an allegory of greed and also
emphasizes that social and religious principles yield to greed and avarice; human
beings are reduced to the level of beasts and lose their elevated status.
Therefore, Volpone is a magnifico, a noble man of the Venetian Republic, clever but
totally selfish and lustful whose only purpose in life is to accumulate gold. He is so
materialistic that not only has he replaced God with gold, but he also worships his
gold as his God. He always tries to deceive and take advantage of other people,
usually naive characters. His servant Mosca (which is an Italian word used to
describe a kind of fly that is fed on dead meat) is a parasite. A parasite does not hunt,
does not work in order to survive. Similarly, Mosca is a human being who is lazy,
who does not struggle in order to acquire a livelihood. Mosca is also very clever and
canny. He is absolutely necessary for Volpone, because he is the one who can put his

On Death And Dying By Dr. Elizabeth Kubler-Ross
Terminal illness is an incurable disease that cannot be effectively treated and is
plausibly expected to result in the death of a person within a short period of time.
When someone is terminally ill, they are said to be actively dying. This brings about
an entire different set of emotional and mental states of mind. Dr. Elizabeth Kubler
Ross, a Swiss American psychiatrist and forerunner in near deathstudies, wrote a
book titled On Death and Dying where she explains that once someone knows death
is close at hand, they go through several distinct psychological stages in response.
After she studied hundreds of terminally ill patients and conducting interviews and
studies with them, she came up with five stages of psychological responses to dying.
They include in this order: denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance....

Of course, these duties will vary depending on the nature of the illness, their
personality characteristics and environmental circumstances. Several psychologists
have referred to these duties as adaptive tasks. These duties include: arranging a
variety of affairs, such as funeral arrangements. They must adapt to the loss of both
loved ones and their own self. They may be concerned with the people that they will
leave behind. The terminally ill individual must manage their medical records while
balancing their emotions. Terminal illness causes them to have to plan for their
diminutive future such as anticipating the loss of sensory, motor and or cognitive
abilities. And lastly, the person must identify and cope with their death encounter. So
how can grief therapy help those with a terminal
China s Factories and Sweatshop
China Sweatshop
When you go shopping to Walmart or Apple ask yourself where your product is
coming from. China has numerous sweatshop factories assembling USA s products
from stores as Apple and Walmart. China s Sweatshop tends to violate human labor s
rights by forcing overtime and going under the mandatory minimum wage and other
violations as long hour without pay, sexual, and physical harassment. China s
sweatshop factory tends to be quite popular because is cheap labor, free trade zone, or
low fee rates in taxes. The reason store as Apple and Walmart has their product to
be assembled in China s factory is to avoid high export fees. Since Walmart and
Apple factory s locations was identified and it came public in the media it shocked
the world of its employee s cruel working s condition. Factors in China are located in
Guangdong Province Songang or in Shenzhen. For example Foxconn is a factory
located in Shenzhen where Apple send their electronic to be assembled and made. In
China the majority workers in factories is occupy by women and children. The
percentage of women in China s Sweatshops is ninety percents. In China, the majority
working in sweatshop are women which are young and not educated; in addition,
forcing them to be ignorant of their own legal rights. Young women in China are
attached to numeral discrimination and unfair pay. China s sweatshop is popular on
violating labor rights, especially against women and underage minor women and men.

The Negative Influence Of Rap Music
Sometimes I feel like rap music is almost the key to stopping racism. Eminem. Rap
music can change not only our world but our character. When rap music was born,
DJ Kool Herc is a Jamaican American who originated hip hop in the early 1970s in

hip hop artists rap about inappropriate behavior, violence, sex and drugs. Kids in
today s time, were behaving with so much disrespect all because of inappropriate

To say that African descended populations and cultures have been erased is not an
unreasonable statement because the moment Africans were enslaved and taken from
their home country they were taught a false history, in which their past was not
filled with kingship but with destitution. For example, in Marcus D. Jones excerpt
Africa in Mexico, Jones states, Moreover, like the people of Coyolillo, the majority
of the inhabitants of the coastal communities south of the City of Veracruz have
even forgotten or perhaps were never taught the country s colonial past, when
enslaved Africans were brought directly from Africa to Mexico (Jones). Thus, many
Mexican people don t realize that they are in fact from African decent. If the people
of Mexico were taught of their past it would answer various question regarding the
ancestors of not only Spanish, Asian, and Indigenous but also African. Ultimately,
under colonial rule, Mexican society was divided into a system of social classes
where groups they were told particular aspects of their history; unfortunately, they

Homosexuals In Australian Film
Since the beginning of the Australian film industry Homosexuals have had a certain
depiction made of them. One of the first ever Australian films to include the idea of
homosexuality is The Set which was released in 1970 (Davidson, 2016). This movie
assisted in the set up the stereotype of gays in the Australian film industry. Although,
Since the 70 s the representation of the minority group of homosexuals has changed
drastically in the 21st century.
Homosexuals in Australian film are usually made fun of and or are bullied by other
the characters. They are often called a range of inappropriate names from Poofters
to Faggots and Gaylords in attempts to offend them. Homosexuals are alienated in
Australian Film, being treated like a disease that nobody wanted to deal with. In
fact, at the beginning of Australian film once a character was in any way associated
with a gay character, they also were alienated from the rest of the group. This can
be seen in the well know Australian film Priscilla Queen Of The Desert where one
of the character stood up for a gay character and his so called mates turned on him as
well (IMBD).
In the world famous Australian film Crocodile Dundee the main character Mike

really gay women. One of the few Australian films that includes the gay women
community is The Getting of Wisdom made in 1978 which is a coming of age story
of a teenage girl (Buckmaster, 2016). This sparks the idea that perhaps gay women
were not included as much in Australian film as they (Filmakers) found it difficult to
make fun of them as men dressed as women proved to be a more cause for

Social Classes In The Middle Ages
The Middle Ages is one of the most famous and controversial time periods in Earth
s history. It s known for many things such as the treatment of women, the black
death, the dominance of the church in society, etc. But one of the most defining
ways of life in the Middle Ages was the separation of nobles and non nobles in
society. While the separations between upper and lower classes are still commonly
understood today, one might still ask; What exactly was the separation of nobles and
non nobles in the middle ages? Although there were some similarities between the
classes in the Middle Ages, the separation between nobles and non nobles was
tremendously accentuated by oodles of privileges and birthrights given to nobles
when none were given to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It wasn t something that was hush hush either, in fact, the unfair lives of the
peasants were very well known at the time. ... there should be equality among all
people... but that all men should be free and of one condition. (Medieval
Sourcebook: Anonimalle Chronicle... 1 2). In this passage, the leader of the peasant
revolt, Wat Tighler, lists the demands that the peasants want in exchange for ending
their revolt. While the nobles were given luxuries such as education, music, cushy
housing, etc., non nobles got nothing even close to that, and this list clearly displays
that. Supported by the labor and taxes of the peasants, the lord, and his wife would
seem to have had a comfortable life... For seven years pages were schooled in
religion, music, dancing, riding, hunting, and some reading, writing, and arithmetic...
The nobles enjoyed hunting, games, and tournaments. (Middle Ages). Nobles got
lucky opportunities to be knights, rich, powerful, etc. while the majority of peasants
lived their lives out doing basic work such as farming or blacksmithing. This
extreme difference truly separated the nobles and non nobles in that, the nobles lived
lives full of meaning and life while the majority of non nobles lived their lives in
servitude, work, and little to no
Seizing the Day in Robert Herrick’s poem, “To the...
To what extent may an argument be framed as believable or serious? Persuasion on
seizing the day is a common theme in Robert Herrick s poem, To the Virgins, To
Make Much of Time and Andrew Marvel s To His Coy Mistress . The arguments
within the poems can seem unrealistic, a little hyperbolic, with an underlying intent
to acquire a womanto sleep with them. The concrete position of all the arguments
within the two poems seems to be, getting a woman to sleep with them. The two
poets posses similarities between the two pieces of poetry, however argue the topics
in different ways. Beauty is not forever lasting, coyness put aside, while pleasure
embraced, and time is of the essence; are all points made to intrigue women to be
with them. To focus on those points a little: The beauty of a woman is compared to
aspects of nature. Herrick s poem only looks at the physical qualities of a woman,
unlike Marvel s, which references personality along with physical traits. Sexual
passion embraced, and coyness set aside? The poets, both urge women to act upon
sexual urges while they stay youthful, but if a woman was told they are not going
to be desired when older, would they actually want to be with someone who tells
them that? Time is moving quickly and its made known within the poems. Herrick is
an advocate to relate everything to physical aspects, so of course he says a woman s
beauty diminishes quickly. Marvel does not relate beauty and time together, instead
he would
Examples Of Superheroes In Beowulf
There are many reasons that we, as a society, need to create fictional superheroes.
Perhaps we feel the need for superheroes because we rarely witness heroism in our
normal, day to day lives; perhaps we want to use them as a personification of the
values that we consider good. Whatever the purpose they serve, they are undeniably
an important part of our popular culture. An important question to ask, then, is
whether Beowulfqualifies as a heroin the basic sense of the term, as well as whether a
twenty first century reader would consider him to match up with our perception of a
superheros values. Using the Reader Oriented view of literary criticism, we can
answer these questions and attempt to find out why society seems to need fictional...

There are several of these basic values that we expect of our superheroes: Courage,
valor, honor, and selflessness, to name a few. For his courage and valor, Beowulf
is described by the narrator as The man whose name was known for courage... (l.
340), and his actions certainly confirm this evaluation of his character; from
volunteering to fight Grendel as a favor to diving to the depths of the mire to fight
Grendel s mother and even going out to fight a great dragon after having ...ruled
[Geatland] well for fifty winters.... As to honor, Beowulf is certainly a model
warrior. For instance, even when fighting the monstrous Grendel, he renounces the
use of weapons, saying He has no idea of the arts of war, of shield or sword play...
(ll. 680 81). Furthermore, he does not take offense at the drunken ramblings of
King Hrothgar s thane Unferth, dismissing his false version of Beowulf s
swimming match as ...mostly beer doing the talking. (ll. 531 32). Later, when a
dragon threatens his kingdom of Geatland, he personally sallied out to kill it and
protect his subjects, at the cost of his own life. Finally, his selflessness is apparent
in all that he does. Once again, his fight with Grendel is a prime example, as he
travels to Denmark to fight the monster simply to help King Hrothgar. We can also
see his selfless behavior in the way that he tells his retainers to stay back when he
goes to fight the dragon, saying ...remain here on the barrow, safe in your armour,
to see which one of us is better... This fight is not yours... (ll. 2529 2532). In this
way, he proves that, even at the risk of his life, he thinks of his men before all
Criminal Sentence For Mass Murders
The research that I have found based upon mass murders is that having a publicly
criminal sentence doesn t stop the crimes from taking place. Mass murders are
regarded as a killing of four people or more at a time. If you take murder in general
you would notice that as of October 14, 2015 around 12:30 am the number of
homicides in the U.S. is 13,208. It is very clear that sentencing for homicides are

who was involved is still alive after the indecent its publicly known they will more

his artwork incorporates a wide and diverse use of media, not confining his abilities
to one tried and true method. As Murakami was growing up, he lived through a time
when Japan was severely damaged and still suffering the effects of a post WWII loss.
During this time, ... he had become familiar with the ominous sounds of American

A Study Of Bitopological Spaces
Abstract. In 1995, A.A. Nasef and T. Noiri [6] introduced the notion of strongly
пЃў irresolute functions. In the present paper, we generalize this notion to the setting
of bitopological spaces and obtain some characterizations and properties of pairwise
strongly semi preirresolute functions.
AMS Mathematics Subject Classifications (2010): 54E55, 54A05, 54C10, 54D05.
Key words and phrases: semi preopen, (i, j) semi preopen, semi preirresolute,
pairwise strongly semi preirresolute.
1. Introduction and preliminaries
The study of bitopological spaces was initiated by Kelly [4] in 1963. Abd ElMonsef
et al. [1] introduced the notion of
пЃў open sets and
пЃў continuity in topological spaces. On the other hand, Andrijevic [2] called
пЃў open sets semipreopen and obtained many properties of such subsets. Recently,
Khedr et al. [5] have investigated the notions of semi preopen sets and semi
precontinuity in bitopological spaces. In 1995, Nasef and Noiri [6] defined and
studied the concept of strongly
пЃў irresolute functions. The purpose of the present paper is to extend the concept of
strongly пЃў irresoluteness to the setting of bitopological spaces.
Throughout the present paper, (X, пЃґ1, пЃґ2) and (Y, 1, 2) always mean
bitopological spaces. For a subset A of a space X, пЃґi c1(A) (resp. пЃґi int(A))
denotes the closure (resp. interior) of A with respect to пЃґi
, for i = 1,2. However, пЃґi c1(A) and
пЃґi int(A) are briefly denoted by c1i(A) and inti(A), respectively, if there is no

Dinosaurs Case Study
Digging Dinosaurs
Level A:
You are swimming underwater in a lake and you see dinosaur feet in the water. You
don t want to go to the surface of the lake in case they are not friendly dinosaurs.
How many dinosaurs are standing in the lake? Explain how you know. Use words and
mathematical language to explain your solution..
Problem Restated: This basically states try to find all possible combinations and
outcomes for this type of situation.
Process: The very first thing I did was to find out that there weren t any dinosaurs
with 1,3,5,6,7,8 feet. (Lincoln and John helped with that). Next, I figured that if
there were only two legged dinosaurs it would be four of them. 2+2+2+2=8. There
could also be four legged dinosaurs. In this case 4 x 2 = 8 found the number of
dinosaurs. Last, there could be a combination of dinosaurs in the lake. A four legged
and two two legged beasts.
Math:
2 four legged dinosaurs make up eight feet or 4 + 4= 8
4 two legged dinosaurs make eight feet or 2+2+2+2=8
1 four legged dinosaurs and 2 two legged dinosaurs make 8 feet or 4+2+2=8
Solution: A possible four two legged, and two four legged, as well as one four legged
and two two legged. So 2,3,4 dinosaurs

Examples Of Fidelity In Othello
In Shakespeare s Othello, villainous Iago exerts his revenge on a young, black man
Othello through the use of logical fallacies. Iago s manipulation causes Othello to
question the fidelity and therefore love of his wife Desdemona. Desdemona and
Emilia as well as the other women of the town are continuously called strumpets,
sluts, and whores. The men of the town refer to these women with the lowest of
insults to acclaim their high power. They are seen as inferior and treated as such.
The men willfully disregard their positions and treat them with the same lack of
respect. However, none hold substantial proof of their infidelity or of wretched
behavior. Instead, they insults are served as a substitution/excuse for the lack of proof.

Lord Of The Flies Literary Analysis
The Beast Within The Lord of the Flies portrays the years of adolescence in a way
not commonly perceived. In the novel, William Golding depicts childhood as times
of tribulation and terror when the children are put in certain adult like situations.
Without mature role models to look up to, children turn to other children for
leadership. Additionally, when given the chance children would rather play around
than do manual labor. Lastly, children stray to savagery without rules or social
boundaries. Therefore, Goulding effectively portrayed the attitudes of adolescents
which shaped the meaning of the book as a whole. When children are without adult
authority, they look for an adult like person for leadership. In the beginning of the
book, when the boys realize they are all alone, they to Ralph for leadership. A
quote to represent this is, But there was a stillness about Ralph as he sat that
marked him out: there was his size, and attractive appearance; and most obscurely,
yet most powerfully, there was the conch. The being that had blown that, had sat
waiting for them on the platform with the delicate thing balanced on his knees,
was set apart (Golding 15). This quote shows how the boys are drawn to Ralph
because of his physical characteristics and because he had set a rule, which was to
give attention to the person holding the conch. As a result of there being no adults
on the island, the boys are be attracted to Ralph as their leader. However, towards the

Throughout F. Scott Fitzgerald s life, he struggled to find meaning. He eventually

enlist in WW1. Unfortunately he was unable to achieve anything great while

Domain Name System Or Dns Is A Mechanism For

Domain Name System or DNS is a mechanism for resolving host names into
Internet Protocol (IP) addresses and IP addresses back into host names. This is
important because personally I feel as though it can be kind of challenging to
remember IP addresses so like a phone book if you don t know a person s number
but you can remember their name it can make things a whole lot easier. So
basically DNS is essentially providing that same service to computers. Paul
Mockapetris originally designed DNS at the University of California, Irvine in
1983 but many others have helped in the development of DNS to make it what it
is today. Before that a protocol name Advanced Research Projects Agency Network
(ARPANET) was being used but a rapid growth of networks required a new system
for maintaining the host names and addresses. ARPNET was created by Dr. Jon
Postel. In 1984, a couple UC Berkeley students wrote the first Unix name server
implementation. It was called the Berkeley Internet Name Domain (BIND) Server.
In 1985 it was revised and has since been then it has been a widely distributed
mostly on Unix systems, and which is still the most widely used DNS software on
the Internet. Before I go into more details about DNS, I will go through a quick run
through on how to install DNS. It is actually pretty simple to install/configure DNS
but you need to make sure you have the prerequisites installed before DNS can be
setup. Installing a DNS server involves adding the DNS server role to an

The inability to differentiate the surrounding features are representative of Pi s
uncertainty of his ability to survive, both figuratively and literally, as he can no
longer make out the dangerous predators he shares the boat with. The darkness and
silence of the night parallels his newfound isolation. With the loss of his entire
family, the comparison between his emotions and immense emptiness of his
surroundings is quite apparent. This is not the only time where the ocean provides
an insight to how Pi is feeling and the state of his mind. In chapter 54 Pi spends
hours coming up with, and switching between plans, to eliminate Richard Parker.
This constant distraction and fluctuating ideas is paralleled in the way the rain and
wind is reacting in the chapter. Shifts in the wind changed the direction of the rain
so that parts of me that were beginning to feel warm were soaked anew. I
Nonconformity As A Social Norm Essay
The social norm that I have decided to violate was the norm of drinking a beverage
from a regular bottle. I wanted to choose this one because many people find it
completely normal to see others drinking from a regular bottle with a recognizable
brand name on it, and I wanted to see how people would react if I drank out of
something more unconventional. In order to violate this norm, I bought a Windex
spray bottle, dumped out the contents, then made sure to clean it thoroughly. I then
put blue Powerade in the Windex container and went to Thompson to drink out of
the spray bottle. I first rode the elevator and sprayed the Powerade into my mouth,
occasionally drinking straight from the bottle to see how people would react. Many

Yet despite being embarrassed in the beginning, I gradually became accustomed to
it and got comfortable enough so that I wasn t embarrassed anymore. This
experiment was an example of nonconformity since I did not match my behaviors
to the social norms that society is so used to. If I were to keep going against
conformity and continue to drink Powerade out of a Windex bottle with no
explanation in the future, then it is very possible that people would try to avoid
me and I would be rejected from social groups. In society, social norms are
important because they help us figure out how to behave appropriately in different
social situations. If one does not follow social norms then it is possible that others
may reject that person and exclude them from their social groups. Conformity,
according to the textbook on page 511, is when ...[somebody] matches their

Motivation Of A Patient s Level Of Intrinsic Motivation
Abstract The overall purpose of this study is to determine if a relationship exists
between a patient s level of intrinsic motivation and success in rehab given two
different therapy settings. Determining if such a relationship exists will allow for
doctors and physical therapists alike to guide their patients more effectively in
deciding the most appropriate protocol. The study will recruit 50 participants aged
65 75 that are scheduled to undergo total knee arthroplasty. The participants will be
randomly assigned to an outpatient physical therapy protocol or to a home based
rehabilitation protocol. Pre surgery, they will be assessed on their levels of intrinsic
motivation using the Intrinsic Motivation Inventory. Following a twelve week
rehabilitation protocol, participants will have the range of motion of their knee joint
measured using a Chattanooga Group Goniometer. Additionally, they will have their
knee functionality and joint pain measured utilized the Oxford Knee Score. Upon
completion of these measurements, data will be organized and statistical analysis
will be performed in the form of multiple regression analysis. On an individual level,
determining if a relationship exists between motivation type and corresponding
success in a given setting has implications in elevating the level of patient care for
orthopedic procedures. The next step in the research process is to develop additional
studies seeking to clarify and address the different and more in depth
Mcdonalds Identity
Advertisements are always trying to decide on who you are when sometimes they

the identity of a busy person. Placement, color, and the content of the ad are what
they use to try and guess your identity. Color is used in almost every advertisement.
The color of the ad is the first thing that is going to capture the viewer s attention,
such as using bright colors. I do not believe that this tactic is going to help them
get my money because the ads with lots of colors are usually ones I would never

At the age of thirty Poussin left Paris for Rome, Italy.
Poussin arrived at his destination in March of 1624. During his journey he made a
short stop in Venice. In Rome Poussin met painterMarcello Sacchetti on of the
active patrons of the arts in Rome. During his first couple of years in Rome
Poussin stayed in various homes. In 1629 he took shelter with Jacques Dughet, a
French cook, and his family. Jacques and his family took care of Poussin when he
suffered from what is called mal di Francia. (Blunt, 55) After several years were
spent recovering from his illness Jacques gave his daughter Anne Marie to Poussin
in marriage. The ceremony toke place on September 1, 1630 in the city of Lucina.
Jacques Dughet had two sons named Gaspard and Jean, who were artist and worked
under the supervision of their brother in law. Gaspard was so inspired by Poussin
that in the later years of his life he took the name of his great teacher Gaspard Poussin.
During this time Poussin kept company with many painters who he was to keep a
close friend ship for many years. He lived close to many painters and sculptors of
the time. Among these was Jean Lemaire, who later worked with Poussin on the
execution of the Long Gallery in the Louvre from 1640 to 1642. While in Rome
Poussin dressed as a Frenchman, until hostile Romans attacked him due to the anti
French sentiment at the time. He saved his
Wal Mart s Impact On America Essay
Wal Mart is considered one of the biggest employers in the U.S. with 25 different
stores in most states also worldwide. One out of every 10 retail workers in the
industry is employed by Wal mart. When you think of Wal Mart, you think of
bargain items in any department of your choice. Hundreds of people visit Wal mart
on a daily basis, whether it is a big city or a small country town. Even though the
businesshas created lots of jobs for people, especially in the smaller cities, it does
hurt the small businesses. Wal Mart has been viewed to have destroyed tens of
thousands of small businesses and manufacturing jobs (Wal Mart s Impact on
America 2012). With the opening of these Wal Mart stores, it displaces other retail
workers in the rural areas (Who win with Wal Mart, 2011). Sam Walton, the
founder of Wal Mart was a business man with a vision. Sam was born in 1918 in
Oklahoma. He was in the military until 1945 and then moved to Bentonville. Sam
Walton was a very cheap man. Mr. Walton opened his own 5 10 store, and it
became a success very quickly. Walton realized that passing on savings to his
customers while earning profits through volume, would be the best way to have
success in life as well as providing a better life for all Americans. Through this
philosophy Wal Mart was launched in 1962, in Rogers, Arkansas. Sam shared this
vision with his associates and made them partners in the company; believing that this
partnership would make Wal Mart great. Sam
Frankenstein s Better Half By Mary Shelley
Frankenstein s Better Half
Frankenstein by Mary Shelley has been one of the most popular scientific horror
stories for centuries; however, many people do not know that Shelley s life was
equivalent to the horrors she tells in her book. Shelley s mother died when she was
only eleven days old. Her father disowned her after she married her true love Percy
Shelley at the age of seventeen. She lost three of her four children and a half sister.
Shelley finally had a son who lived on to adulthood; yet, her husband drowned in a
storm shortly after the son s birth. Obviously, Shelley battled depression her entire
life, and she eventually died at the age of fifty four on February 1, 1851 in London.
With all the tragedies in her life, it only makes since that she would write the
horrendous story of Victor Frankenstein. Frankenstein suffers a great deal of loss,
much like Mary Shelley; yet Victor tries to play God by creating human life, which
ultimately leads to nothing but tragic loss and losing every person important to him,
including his sole mate Elizabeth Lavenza. The beautiful bride of Frankenstein,
Elizabeth Lavenza, is a kind hearted, calm, and nurturing character that shows her
loyalty to Victor even through the tragedies they face.
Elizabeth is adopted by the Frankenstein family as a young girl; she and Victor
become the best of friends and have an undeniable bond. Even when she was a
child, she was intended to become the wife of Victor. Elizabeth was presented in a

Storyboard A With regards to the evaluation of the first storyboard, I will be taking
into consideration the 10 Usability Heuristics. I will be going into each one of them
and evaluating the storyboard accordingly. Visibility of system status This heuristic
takes into consideration how the system alerts and informs the user about the
current activity that is being carried out by system within an acceptable time frame.
I believe that our storyboard conforms to this heuristic in that fact that at the top of
the window it tells the user of the system what page they are currently on. I believe
that the buttons and the text boxes with the fact that they also instruct the user what
to do in real time fall under this category. However if I was going to improve on the
design we could have colour coded the text boxes so they change... Show more

In our system we have adopted and applied this heuristic as when an error message
appears it has a constructive message that alerts the user as to how they can fix the
error by indicating the problem and its location. E.g when a user enters a username
that doesn t follow the format of the username then an error message appears stating
what went wrong and where. Help and Documentation This heuristic covers the need
for simple yet informative documentation, that way when the user is stuck they have
a guide that will inform them on what they have to do. Our system has been
constructed in such a manner that it is straight forward, so there is no requirement
for help and documentation to be created. However if I was going to make an
improvement to our system then I would create such documentation that way it
would clear up any ambiguity if the user does get stuck on a specific function of the
system. Evaluation of Storyboard

Cultures are unparalleled with North Korea maintaining a communist government ran

North Korea consists of a population conditioned from a very young age to accept the

meaning in life lies in bullets and bombs. With a society referred into three categories
as basic, chaotic and enemy, depending on the background and social origins. With a

that of the military. For example, public self criticism is the punishment for being a

Social Cultural, Technological and Environmental.
We feel that it is important to analyse the environment of a business as it will help the
business to identify the Opportunities and Threats surrounding it. Using the case
study of Dell we have identified the following opportunities and threats of the
computer industry.

Social Cultural
Opportunity
1) For the computer companies to succeed within the industry, it is vital that they
keep the environments and societies healthy in order to recruit and retain a highly
skilled and motivated workforce.
2) The cultural shift in the way businesses operate, towards on line trading mean there
is now more growth in the computer industry as it is essential tool for modern
businesses.
3) By the computer industry expanding this will have a positive affect on the society,
environment as they will create more jobs.
The computer industry needs to understand that all countries have different business
cultures, for example Dell operates, DELL AMERICAS,
DELL EUROPE, MIDDLE EAST, AFRICA, DELL ASIA PACIFIC/ DELL JAPAN.
This could be a opportunity or threat to a business if they can adapt successfully to
the different business cultures.
Technological
Opportunity
1) Due to Telephone expansion in developing countries, businesses are realising that
the internet is essential for operating globally. This is a whole new opportunity for
the computer industry to take advantage of these new untapped markets.
2) The computer industry needs to keep up to date in new technological
developments or face elimination as this is vital to survive in the computer industry.

Acceptance and understanding are major factors that must be met in order for people
to come together. In many circumstances, it is up to the minority whom are joining
the majority to adopt and change its customs and practices in order to assimilate into
the majority. However, there are some circumstances in which the minority somehow
becomes able to overpower majority and take control. This is the situation which
occurred between the Natives and the Europeans during the 1513 conquest. The
Spanish Conquest of Central and South America and the voyage to the New World by
Christopher Columbus in 1492 brought the Spanish crown a great amount of wealth.

towards the native people in the Spanish colonies (PBS, 2010). Therefore de La

because he was able to witness this first hand. So indeed the facts and arguments
that Las Casas makes within In Defense of the Indians are all true because he
witnessed everything first hand. Although there may be a discrepancy regarding
the number of Native deaths due to diseases versus those caused by the Europeans,
his treatises is full of true statements. Seigneur De Montaigne was known as a great

Montagine became councilor in the Bordeaux parliament (Edelman). In 1571
Montaigne retired to a life of study and contemplation (Edelman). In all his

Switzerland and the Concept of Comparative Advantage
While most in today s hyper competitive global economy look towards countries
including; China, India, Taiwan, Vietnam, and others in search of lower production
costs seeking the ever illusive comparative advantage, others have different ideas.
Switzerland, a tiny land locked nation in central Europe surrounded by Alps with a
relatively small population of 7,630,605 is one such country. It operates with its own
comparative advantage in the industries of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

As Switzerland is unable to compete globally in the area of inexpensive goods and
services including; toys, manufactured goods, and other products used in mass by
today s consumer it is advised that the nation continue to produce products it currently
specializes in along with expanding its current services to attract foreign investment
into the Swiss economy.
Industries of Specialization and Opportunity
As most already know, the Swiss are renowned for their production of high quality
chocolates including those of the Toblerone and Lindt brands. Switzerland has a
comparative advantage in the production of chocolate. By spending one hour
producing two pounds of chocolate, it gives up producing one pound of cheese,
whereas, if it spends that hour producing cheese, it gives up two pounds of
chocolate. Thus, the good in which comparative advantage is held is the good that
the country produces most efficiently (chocolate). Therefore, if given a choice
between producing two goods (or services), a country will make the most efficient
use of its resources by producing the good with the lowest opportunity cost, the
good in which it holds the comparative advantage, and by trading for the other
good. (Globalization101.org, 2010) While chocolates are one of this country s
specialties it s not the only one. Other areas of specialty already realized and being
readily utilized by the Swiss are the
The Importance Of Censorship
Imagine a society without censorship, where everyone knows each other s secrets,
it would be lethal for society. What would happen if people knew one s
weaknesses?. There is evil that needs to be censored. Censorship is necessary in our
society for many different reasons. It protects nations, prevents conflict in society, it
protects the morals/privacy of people, and it is also helpful for children.
Censorship Protects a Nation
Censorship is very important in relation to a nation, It restrains vulgarity and
obscenity (Pillai). It helps the nation against any danger. First, it protects military
information that could be used for evil, then, it can also help on controlling panic and
rumors throughout a nation, A similar case was observed in India in 2008 when
terrorists attacked The Taj MahalPalace Hotel in Mumbai (Pillai). Finally, censorship
preserves the secrets of the entire nation, secrets that could put nations in danger
(Pillai). Censorship can lead to a peaceful society by protecting our secrets from those
who want to harm us.
Censorship Prevents Conflict In Society
Censorship helps to evade conflict in different ways, Censoring hate helps to
promote peace (11 Biggest Pros and Cons of Censorship). By censoring hate we can
stop the rumors of hate through our society, and we could only worry about our
community, and not for those who hate. There is wealth violent material in Internet
that can be accessed with ease, this exposure is dangerous because it makes

1.5 Usefulness of financial statements to stakeholders:
A financial statement is a legitimate record of the financial activities of a business,
person, or other entity. On the other hand, a person, group or organization that has
interest or concern in an organization is known as its stakeholder. Stakeholders are
one kind of owner for an organization.
As a result these people want to know about the organization in details in which they
are going to invest. In this regards financial statement or financial records are useful
instruments for providing those information to the stakeholders. Usefulness of
financial statements for stakeholders is discussed below: * A stakeholder is
interested in the equity of the firm. The ultimate objective of a firm used to be
maximizing profits. But now a days, goals have widened because of the changing
environment in which the firm operates and includes earnings per share, employment
numbers, management satisfaction, environmental protection and many other factors
that have an effect on the equity of the business. For this reason, the stakeholders are
interested in the financial information of the organization. * The firm s performance
can be assessed through an income statement, balance sheet and cash flow statement.
Streaming Media and Video Content
Internal Rivalry
Looking strictly at the video rental industry, Netflix faces minimal internal rivalry
because the industry is dominated by only a handful of firm in Europe, namely
Blockbuster. Although Netflix faces little internal rivalry in its immediate industry,
the company faces an intensely competitive broader market. Since home
entertainment covers a broad spectrum of technologies and channels of distribution,
Netflix is in direct competition with firms in a number of other industries including
cable networks, who air movies on television, satellite companies VOD services, and
websites like Hulu, which provide video content through online streaming.
Furthermore, as people transition from consumption of physical DVDs to ... Show

To capitalize on these profitable complements to their streaming service, it is
advantageous for Netflix to enter into joint ventures with companies that produce
electronics.
Supplier Power
Netflix acquires its video content through direct purchases, revenue sharing
agreements, and licensing agreements. These agreements, which allow Netflix to rent
DVDs and stream video content, are primarily obtained from studios, networks, and
distributors. Therefore, Netflix s suppliers, e.g. studios, networks, and distributors,
control the prices that Netflix must pay for its video content. The First Sale
Doctrine, a copyright law stipulating that once a copyright owner sells a copy of
their work they relinquish control of the work and the purchaser may redistribute the
work as they wish, provides protection for Netflix with regards to redistributing DVD
titles. However, the First Sale Doctrine does not apply to streaming content.
Therefore, Netflix is especially vulnerable to supplier power during streaming
distribution cost negotiations. The studios and distributors who license streaming
content are in full control of the terms and conditions with Netflix and may rescind
the availability of the content at will. As the DVD format becomes increasingly
obsolete and streaming video content grows in popularity, Netflix become more
susceptible to the power of their suppliers.
Another aspect of the in home video entertainment industry, which substantially

majorities agree that the increasing number of regulations have created uncertainty
for large and small businesses (66%), and that agencies who enforce regulations
fail to consider that their decisions lead to increased prices for consumers and job
losses (69%), according to a poll (Thompson and Tringali, 2). Ironically, Barak
Obama has been trying to convince and persuade voters that he does actually care
about jobs (Barone, 1). A lot of Americans are putting all their attention on
healthcare, which is good, but [Americans] do not need to lose sight of the people

The Works of Elise de Wolfe,Eleanor Brown, and Dorothy...
Interior Decorators such as Elsie de Wolfe, Eleanor McMillen Brown, and Dorothy
Draper helped to pave the way for the Interior Design profession today. Their
influential decisions to stray away from the Victorian style of design helped guide
both the interior decorating profession, as well as architects who no longer wanted to
design in the bulky and cluttered Victorian Style.
Elsie de Wolfe designed during the Victorian movement, however had adopted the
1890 s preference for Neoclassicism (Smith, 22). Unlike the cluttered and dark
interiors of an average Victorian interior, her interiors were, in the words of one
visitor, [models] of simplicity (Smith, 20). She redecorated the once cluttered dining

All three of these women worked during the time when crowded and stuffy
Victorian interiors were popular. They all paved the way for interior decoration as a
profession, each adding something to the profession. During their lifetimes, the task
of interior decoration went from a job only an architect could do to an established
profession, and styles such as Arts and Crafts, Prairie style, Art Nouveau, Beaux Arts,
Classical Revival styles, and Art Deco were emerging. For all three of these women,
the architecture of the time influenced their work in different ways. Elsie de Wolfe
started designing interiors around the time the Arts and Crafts style was becoming
popular. The Arts and Crafts style was cleaner and more refined than the Victorian
style, which is similar to the way Elsie de Wolfe designed her interiors. They both
stripped away the Victorian elements of design, leaving cleaner and more refined
interiors. Eleanor McMillen Brown took inspiration from some classical revival
styles and the art deco style of the time when designing her interiors, but they were
also still more refined than the Victorian style. Dorothy Draper was influenced mostly
by the Art Deco style, as she designed commercial spaces that would reflect the art
deco architecture of the time.

Who Is Hernando De Soto Hernanado DeSoto BY:MARKAYLA HURD Hernando de Soto was a Spanish explorer and conquistador who led the first European expedition deep into the territory of the modern day United States. Wikipedia Born: 1500, Province of Badajoz, Spain Died: May 21, 1542, Mississippi River Nationality: Spanish Spouse: InГ©s de Bobadilla (m. 1537 1542) Siblings: Catalina de Soto, Maria de Soto, Juan Mendez de Soto De Soto s North American expedition was a vast undertaking. • 4. Mass Media And Its Effect On The Air Waves Mass media distribution has been around since the invention of the printing press. (Gerbner, 1999) However, broadcast radio presented a higher level of distribution speed to this process and allowed for an extended reach to consumers. Since its creation, this technology has been controlled by FCC regulations and advertising support, limiting the freedom of the broadcasters so all of the possible listeners are happy. Between the government maintenance and listening trends, the range of music and content on the air waves has been reduced to 5 basic genres. The introduction of the internet has allowed this medium to once again evolve. The reach has been greatly extended, advertising made optional and freedom of use increased. This being said, the largest attraction to internet radiois its ability to be customized by the listener. Historically, the concept of internet radio has been around since the early 1990s. These broadcasts were still very limited because most of them were streams from terrestrial radio stations or niche talk shows. Carl Malamud began this phenomena with a weekly computer talk show, interviewing experts and streaming it openly online. These types of broadcasts became so popular that The Rolling Stone began playing a concert over the web as well. This idea would be copied over and over again by every musician and music producer. As file sharing spread and download speeds increased, issues began to rise between music streamers and the
  • 5. Sovereignty Is A Modern Political Theory Of International Sovereignty is a modern political theory of international relations that is supported by a multitude of political theorists to rid the world of barbaric methods of competition. A sovereign is a supreme political power that works best with the existence of state lines and the geographic location of the people ruled under it to ease the organizational constraints of having a large number of people and territories. Contrarily, Charles Beitz heavily criticizes this idea of a sovereign because of its lack of attention to humans as individuals and the interests they should be free to pursue. In his eyes, state lines should not be the only limit to which individuals should receive or have access to natural resources. He believes a sovereign takes... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When extended to the state level, this concept of forcefully acquiring goods and land leads to vicious wars at the expense of a meaningful life for the persons living in the conflicting states. Human rights and social justice are ignored, and in these states there is no account of Time; no Arts; no Letters; no Society; ... And the life of man, solitary, poore, nasty, brutish, and short. During wartime, a state is only concerned with the concept of winning or ensuring that the opposing side does not win. Life within the state is no longer worth living considering the people s interests are not being represented. Competition for things without laws or control creates an environment of free will in which the stakes are continually raised higher until there is nothing left of the state to exist; therefore, an overarching power of law such as a sovereign must be put into effect to manifest the significance of defining what is right versus wrong. To control the need for uneconomical wars, a sovereign is created that will aid in the justification, preservation, and enforcement of laws. In The Thirty Years War, for example, Johannes Burkhardt states that a decision was met after the dominant powers concluded that the plurality of states did not necessarily represent anarchy or some flawed political concept that had to be done
  • 6. How Is Heart Of Darkness Feminist Perspective This essay will take a feminist approach on Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad. The main focus of this discussion lies with characterization, how women are represented as well as how this image compares to reality. When one focuses on the portrayal of women in Heart of Darkness, it becomes evident that the representation of women in the novel reflects the ideology of women s role in society. As the book was written and published in the eighteen hundreds, this is to be expected as there was still a patriarchal society. The separate sphere and oppression is very dominant in the story. The main character, Marlow, has a strong opinion of what a woman s role is in society. He indirectly states that it is improper for women to have a career... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In that same waiting room is another woman present who does not speak either, but glances with an unconcerned wisdom and seemed uncanny and fateful (Conrad 11). As women did not have the freedom to express their thoughts, they might have come across as mysterious. Marlow finds this woman mysterious and threatening which connects to Beauvoir s idea of men not understanding women and classifying them as angels or demons (De Beauvoir 1269). Beauvoir states that Women are mystified, as the man who does not understand a woman is happy to substitute an objective resistance for a subjective deficiency of mind; instead of admitting his ignorance, he perceives the presence of a mystery outside himself: an alibi, indeed, that flatters laziness and vanity at once (1268). These concepts seem accurate in this novel especially when comparing Kurtz intended with the native African woman. Kurtz fiancГ©e symbolizes the perfect example of how women should be according to men. Women are shaped after biology and cultural defined characteristics (Barry 117). This woman believes that this is how she is supposed to be because this is how God and society intended it. She is an oppressed woman in a domestic sphere devoted to her husband, the man she has to thank for her status. Kurtz keeps referring to her as my intended which makes her seem as yet another object that he owns. Comparing this to the native African woman, who is wild, confident and more powerful which is shown by her ivory jewelry, she is the opposite of the Western white woman. This makes her mysterious and frightening. However, though her higher status and Marlow s fear towards her, she is still a woman in the eyes of the white man and Kurtz s only interest in her seems to be the ivory. She is his road to wealth which

Free University Education Free University Education The essential and the basic level of education should be made free for all and sundry as it plays one of the most important roles in life of every human being in establishing and polishing his intellectuality and personality. It is the root, base and a building block in child s development. The world has changed and moved so much that without education it is really tough for someone to live. However, there are also some advantages of free education in the universities. Although scholarships are intended for the disadvantaged few, the disadvantaged are just few. Scholarships help only a handful, for others providing free education would come as a great relief. There is less stress on students including the work and paying the tuition fees, which is truly good for their general health, as they are already enough stressed for social life and exams. There will be a higher number of students learning and that increase the literacy rate of the nation will probably reduce the quantity of young people who are involved in wrong or the bad activities such as getting addicted to drugs, gambling, etc. Students who come from a low family background would have a lot of time for their studies, for them to relax and for themselves as they won t be working for hours and fighting for extra shifts in order to pay their fees. There would be equal opportunities for both the rich and the poor students as not now and the poor students won t blame their fate. There would be better governance. Educated people would not only just better choices in electing their representatives but also are better equipped to question corruption and misuse of power. There would be improvement in the quality of life. Free schooling would lead to more educated people and more educated people in the society leads to overall improvement in the quality of life in the society. It also can be
  • 8. Father and Son in Death of a Salesman, and Fences Essay The role of a father could be a difficult task when raising a son. The ideal relationship between father and son perhaps may be; the father sets the rules and the son obeys them respectfully. However it is quite difficult to balance a healthy relationship between father and son, because of what a father expects from his son. For instance in the narratives, Death of a Salesman, and Fences both Willy and Troy are fathers who have a difficult time in earning respect from their sons, and being a role model for them. Between, Death of a Salesman, and Fences, both protagonists, Willy and Troy both depict the role of a father in distinctive ways; however, in their struggle, Willy is the more sympathetic of the two. In comparing Willy... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Furthermore, unlike Willie and his two sons, Troy s son, Cory, had a job and also assisted Troy with payments. The portrayal between, Willie and Troy as fathers, has had an impact in the development of their sons differently. Firstly, Willie has always had high hopes in his older son, Biff. Willie believed that in raising Biff, he will one day be successful, and ambitious. However, it is a pity that it never turned out that way. In fact, throughout the story, Biff reveals that he is not ambitious. Hap, the trouble is we weren t brought up to grub for money. I don t know how to do it. (Gioia, 2010) It is a shame that Willie is a hardworking man who dreams in success and Biff was not born with equal desire. It would not be a surprise if Willie felt heartbreak; to be unable to set an example for his son Biff to follow. On the other hand, Troy could be described as a character that is selfish. Throughout the story, Fences Troy reveals his selfishness when interfering with Cory s potential in football, and telling him that working is more important. You go on down there to that A P and see if you can get your job back. If you can t do both...then you quit the football team. (Gioia, 2010) Undoubtedly, Troy s interest is more concentrated in ensuring that the bills get paid, than to agree with Cory playing football. Furthermore Troy wants Cory to maintain that job because

The first case plessy vs. ferguson in 1896 held up the legality of segregation of public facilities. Based on state and local governments legally enforced the racial segregation in public places. In 1954 the supreme court struck down the racial segregation in public schools in the second case, brown vs. the board of education. • 10. The Conservation Of Chimpanzees Is The Idea Of Protecting... The conservation of Chimpanzees is the idea of protecting this endangered species from going extinct. The ides of protecting the chimps are motivated by their human like characteristics, and ability to be seen as little people . People want to save the reflection of themselves because they feel that a piece of our humanhistory will be lost without them. There isn t a big difference between humans and chimps as we once thought. Humans, chimps and bonobos descended from a single ancestor species that lived six million years ago. Gradually evolution has evolved them to become three separate species. Although they come from a common ancestor, their DNA that was passed down from generation to generation has changed due to adaptations in the gene, environmental factors, reproductive fitness, and mate selection. Bones and muscle tissue are the same in both species. The only differentiation is the bipedal and quadrupedal movement. Bipedalism adapted to have shorter arms while for quadrupedalism the arm length is much longer. The facial features are quite similar. Both have little hairs all over their body, similar eye shape, ear and mouth structure. Chimps even get bald spots on their head like older men when it comes to aging. When looking at a chimp it is easy to see the resemblance we share. We enjoy watching these creatures do human like activities in the media because they look like little people, it s so adorable and entertaining. These chimps can even function in

Yet, many Americans grapple with comprehending the theories of the national debt and deficit. More importantly, if Americans were enlightened about the economic policy they could relieve the economy. So often, the old adage, History always repeats itself, rings true due to a failure to truly confront the past, especially when the memory of a period of time sparks profoundly negative emotions ranging from anguish to anger. However, danger lies in failing to recognize history or in the inability to reconcile the mistakes of the past. In her novel, Beloved, Toni Morrisonexplores the relationship between the past, presentand future. It appears as though the power of her experience in slavery influences her so greatly that the memory triggers great pain, causing the horrifying incidents to happen again. The British did not try other ways of solving the crisis and did not try diplomacy with Egypt. The British took prompt action against Nasser because they feared that their power in the Middle East would be compromised because of him. (Dooley) They colluded with France and Israelso that they would all attack Egyptand forcefully recover the Suez Canal. Prime Minister Eden did not consider many options besides war because he saw a parallel between how Hitler had begun by remilitarizing the Rhineland; Nasser had expropriated the Suez Canal. (Kunz 97) Consequently, he did not want to try to appease Nasser because he feared that the Egyptians would influence the rest of the Middle East and cut off their oil supply. Although war should have been a last resort the British s immediate impulse was to hit Nasser hard and quickly (Dooley). Clearly, diplomacy was not considered because the British hoped to seize the Suez Canal by force. This is why they secretly colluded in hopes of bombarding the Egyptians and forcing them to relinquish control of the canal. Almost immediately, Britain with France started well publicized military preparations in the Mediterranean they hoped to force Egypt to agree to give the Suez Canal to the international community. (Epstein) When Egypt refused British, France and Israel retaliated against the Egyptians.

(The film received eight Academy Awards nominations and netted awards for Best Actor, Best Screenplay Based on Material from Another Medium, and Best Art Direction Set Decoration, Black and White.) Ideally, a novel and its film version complement each other, which, on many levels, is the case with To Kill a Mockingbird. However, film can accomplish things that novels can t, and vice versa. Likewise, film has limitations that a novel doesn t. This essay explores some of the differences between To Kill a Mockingbird, the film and the novel. Narration By its nature, film is a visual medium, which makes a first person story difficult to tell. To have Scout narrating throughout the film as she does in the book would prove distracting, so Scout as narrator is only presented to set the mood of a scene in the film. As a result, viewers don t get a strong sense of Scout s first person narration as they do in the book; instead, they simply notice the childlike perspective portrayed in the story. (The film uses music to help reinforce the child s point of view. The music is very elementary, and much of the score is composed of single notes without chords or embellishments.) Because the narration is not as straightforward in the film, the film seems to shift more to Jem s experiences. For example, Jem finds all the articles in

I would consider how effective our current proposal forms are at gathering relevant risk information. Proposal forms are a valuable tool in gathering risk information, not just financial details of the proposer but also risk management procedures. The proposal forms may currently place too much focus on share price and profits of the client and not enough on management processes, these factors are important when rating D O risks. Are our policies competitive with other insurers in the market? D O insurers are facing very intense competition and are under pressure to ensure that they can differentiate themselves from the rest of the market. The market has become saturated with insurers offering cover and there is ample market capacity for insureds to shop around. (CII study text on Liability insurances, 2016). The market capacity means buyers of this type of cover can expect broad terms and conditions at attractive prices. The policies we are currently offering may be uncompetitive in terms of premium and cover offered in comparison to the rest of the market. Claim trends and internal overhead costs When assessing the portfolio of D O cover I would firstly establish why it is currently unprofitable. If profit margins are not being met it is likely

Beauty is not forever lasting, coyness put aside, while pleasure embraced, and time is of the essence; are all points made to intrigue women to be with them. Herrick s poem only looks at the physical qualities of a woman, unlike Marvel s, which references personality along with physical traits. Sexual passion embraced, and coyness set aside? The poets, both urge women to act upon sexual urges while they stay youthful, but if a woman was told they are not going to be desired when older, would they actually want to be with someone who tells them that? Lastly, children stray to savagery without rules or social boundaries. Therefore, Goulding effectively portrayed the attitudes of adolescents which shaped the meaning of the book as a whole. Domain Name System or DNS is a mechanism for resolving host names into Internet Protocol (IP) addresses and IP addresses back into host names. This is important because personally I feel as though it can be kind of challenging to remember IP addresses so like a phone book if you don t know a person s number but you can remember their name it can make things a whole lot easier. So basically DNS is essentially providing that same service to computers. Paul Mockapetris originally designed DNS at the University of California, Irvine in 1983 but many others have helped in the development of DNS to make it what it is today. Before that a protocol name Advanced Research Projects Agency Network (ARPANET) was being used but a rapid growth of networks required a new system for maintaining the host names and addresses. ARPNET was created by Dr. Jon Postel. In 1984, a couple UC Berkeley students wrote the first Unix name server implementation. It was called the Berkeley Internet Name Domain (BIND) Server. In 1985 it was revised and has since been then it has been a widely distributed mostly on Unix systems, and which is still the most widely used DNS software on the Internet. Before I go into more details about DNS, I will go through a quick run through on how to install DNS. It is actually pretty simple to install/configure DNS but you need to make sure you have the prerequisites installed before DNS can be setup. Installing a DNS server involves adding the DNS server role to an

The entire plot and conflict is created by the harsh environment. At times the description of Pi s surroundings is reflective of his emotional and mental condition. At a point in time where Pi is confused, scared, and vulnerable, unsure of whether or not he would make it, his environment shows just that. Darkness came. There was no moon. Clouds hid the stars. The contour of things became hard to distinguish. Everything disappeared, the sea, the lifeboat, my own body. The sea was quiet and there was hardly any wind, so I couldn t even ground myself in sound. I seemed to be floating in pure, abstract blackness...I couldn t imagine... I wanted to choose this one because many people find it completely normal to see others drinking from a regular bottle with a recognizable brand name on it, and I wanted to see how people would react if I drank out of something more unconventional. In order to violate this norm, I bought a Windex spray bottle, dumped out the contents, then made sure to clean it thoroughly. I then put blue Powerade in the Windex container and went to Thompson to drink out of the spray bottle. Motivation Of A Patient s Level Of Intrinsic Motivation Abstract The overall purpose of this study is to determine if a relationship exists between a patient s level of intrinsic motivation and success in rehab given two different therapy settings. Determining if such a relationship exists will allow for doctors and physical therapists alike to guide their patients more effectively in deciding the most appropriate protocol. The study will recruit 50 participants aged 65 75 that are scheduled to undergo total knee arthroplasty. The participants will be randomly assigned to an outpatient physical therapy protocol or to a home based rehabilitation protocol. Pre surgery, they will be assessed on their levels of intrinsic motivation using the Intrinsic Motivation Inventory. Following a twelve week rehabilitation protocol, participants will have the range of motion of their knee joint measured using a Chattanooga Group Goniometer. Additionally, they will have their knee functionality and joint pain measured utilized the Oxford Knee Score. Upon completion of these measurements, data will be organized and statistical analysis will be performed in the form of multiple regression analysis. On an individual level, determining if a relationship exists between motivation type and corresponding success in a given setting has implications in elevating the level of patient care for orthopedic procedures. The next step in the research process is to develop additional studies seeking to clarify and address the different and more in depth

Help and Documentation This heuristic covers the need for simple yet informative documentation, that way when the user is stuck they have a guide that will inform them on what they have to do. Our system has been constructed in such a manner that it is straight forward, so there is no requirement for help and documentation to be created.
