Essay On A Rose For Emily By William
Faulkner
Crafting an essay on "A Rose for Emily" by William Faulkner is a task that demands both
analytical prowess and a keen understanding of the nuances within Faulkner's narrative. The
complexity of this particular work lies not only in its intricate plot but also in Faulkner's unique
storytelling style, characterized by shifts in time and perspective.
To start, delving into the layers of Emily Grierson's character requires a careful examination of
her actions, motivations, and the societal context in which she exists. Unraveling Faulkner's
symbolism and metaphors adds another layer of challenge, demanding a thorough exploration of
the text to unearth the hidden meanings that contribute to the story's richness.
Moreover, the essay must navigate the delicate balance between interpreting the narrative's
events and presenting a compelling analysis. Faulkner's nonlinear structure, with its jumps in
time, demands a meticulous organization of ideas to ensure the essay flows seamlessly and
remains coherent for the reader.
Additionally, addressing the socio-cultural elements embedded in the narrative is crucial.
Understanding the Southern Gothic genre and Faulkner's exploration of post-Civil War Southern
society is pivotal to providing a comprehensive analysis.
The difficulty intensifies when attempting to craft a unique perspective or argument that
contributes to the existing body of literary criticism. Developing an original thesis requires a
deep understanding of the existing scholarship while pushing the boundaries to offer fresh
insights into the text.
In conclusion, writing an essay on "A Rose for Emily" involves navigating through Faulkner's
complex narrative, deciphering symbolic elements, and presenting a cohesive analysis. It's a
challenge that demands not only literary acumen but also the ability to synthesize ideas
coherently. Nevertheless, conquering this challenge yields a deeper appreciation for Faulkner's
masterpiece and enhances one's skills in literary analysis.

Critical Theories Of Reader-Response Theory
People start to express and exchange their opinions about art or literature works and
try to understand the deeper meaning of them with the development of the society.
Different critical theories that are introduced during this semester in Critical
Inquiry have been built based on various of society events or issues in different
periods. After getting in touch with each popular theory, Reader Response Theory,
in the personal opinion, has become one of the commonest theories since it only
considers the personal experience of the readers and how it connects to the work;
the readers would receive different messages and come up with their personal
thoughts and comments toward what they read, see or watch. Different from African
American Theory or LGBTQ Theory, Reader Response Theory does not have a
limitation on the subject position or cultural background because the comments and
thoughts are based on the readers personal experience and from their own view
points, and this characteristic will always benefit people not only in college but also
in their entire life by expanding their horizons and helping them to find and
understand their own lens in professional practices. In Lois Tyson s Using Critical
Theory, she explains that Reader Response Theory is something interesting or useful
about ourselves (13). Although there are several types of Reader Response Theory
focusing on different fields, when people come up with their reflections about a
work, they are led by a

Since I was young, I always envisioned myself wearing the decent white blazer and
my fashionable clothes, having the Dr. before my first name, and owning and
managing my own clinic with a lot of merry patients who trust me as their doctor. As
a kid during those days, doctor was the only term I knew. I did not have any idea of
pediatrician, cardiologist, neurologist, surgeon, etc. and the meanings of the said
specializations.
In my early teens and as a part of growing up and finding myself, I developed my

Study of a STATCOM Application for Voltage Stability Evaluated
S.Rajasekqar, Assoc Professor HOD, NIST, Nagole, Hyderabad
Abstract: In this paper voltage stability is evaluated b v both dynamic P V curves and
time domain simulations, considering the combined dynamic control effects of a
static compensator (SZ4TCOh!) and transformer on load taps (OLT). The studied
system is heavily loaded at hvo locations and an 80 Mvar STA TCOM is connected
to improve the voltage stability of entire s~stem for a contingency of a three
terminal line outage. The resu[ts presented in this paper: (a) show that a STA
TCOM can greatly improve the voltage stability of a heavily loaded system, (b)
quantl~ the combined impacts of SZ4TCOM and OLT control: (c) illustrate that the
margin of stability can be easily and effectively evaluated by P V curves; (d)
correlate tirnedomain simulations and P V curves for a system with a STATCOM

Violence In The Shawshank Redemption
Released in 1994, The Shawshank Redemption is a crime and drama filled movie
under the direction of Mr. Frank Darabont. The Shawshank Redemption is one of
the best movies I have watched in my 19 years of life. This exceptional movie
displays many life lessons throughout with multiple themes that give the movie more
meaning. In the movie, you will see Andy Dufresne, Ellis Boyd Redding (or known
as Red,) Boggs, Warden Norton, Brooks Halten, and Tommy as very important
characters. This film possesses struggles of living in prison, and guilt that many
inmates feel from the crime they pursued. Most importantly, you will see friendships
formed that will last a lifetime. Hope and time are all the inmates have; and some of
them don t have the hope... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I would totally recommend this movie to anyone. From what I have told you, you
can see exactly what I am talking about. This movie has many hardships, but it
comes along with an important message. For some, they might think Andy and
Red lost so much of their lives. For others, they think they gained so much more by
going to prison. Finally, after receiving redemption their lives continue. In my
opinion, I would have liked the movie to have kept going a little bit longer so we
could see what happens next. It would have been nice if we knew what happened
next with Red and Andy. So many questions could be asked such as: did the two of
them stay out of trouble? Did the two of them ever come back to the United States?
Over all The Shawshank Redemption is a dramatic film with an excellent cast and
with exceptional themes. If anyone wanted to see a movie that will drop their jaws, I
would tell them Shawshank is the movie to watch. It truly was an amazing
Essay on How the Great Depression Changed the Federal...
The period before the great depression, the 1920s, was known as the Roaring
Twenties or the Jazz age. This Era was marked by artistic movement such as the
creation of Jazz music and a rich supply of American writing. During this time the
federal government had been providing some aid to the states but leaving the bulk
of the power to the states, which is known as a dual federalism. It also marked the
end of modest social traditions and wave of materialism encouraged by increased
customer spending with the open use of a new concept called credit.
As the Great Depression rolled in, a cry for the involvement of government in matters
of the economy was sent out as the United States reached an all time low. When Wall

government s part in American society.
Three days after taking office FDR established the Emergency Banking Act, that
closed all the banks. Once the banks were reopened they were put under close
supervision, also the treasury was authorized to issue more currency. After the
Emergency Banking act, during the rest of FDR s first 100 days in office, he
proposed, and Congress enacted, an abundance of legislative acts such as the
Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), the Federal Emergency Relief Act (FERA), the
Civic Works Administration (CWA), the Homeowners Loan Act, and the National
Industrial Recovery Act (NIRA). One of the most innovative New Deal Program
was the Tennessee Valley Authority act (TVA) which created an independent public

Essay on The Functions and Goals of the Special Veterans ...
1. I chose to cover special veterans courts for this paper. This court was created back
in 2008 in Buffalo, New York. It was created by Judge Robert Russell in an effort
to help veterans who have broken the law due to the adverse psychological and
emotional effects that military service can have upon a service member. Some
veterans, after undergoing various combat situations, being cut off from family and
friends, and other hardships associated with being in the military, are not able to
properly assimilate back into civilian life, if at all. They may resort to drug use or
alcoholism to cope, and/or act out in other ways as well. In the various articles of
this kind of court I ve read, courts usually require that the veterans offense... Show

3. From what I ve read, this kind of court is highly successful. In the case of Judge
Robert Russell s original special veteran s court, his court saw (at the time of this
particular article) a 90% success rate without any recidivism. In Hennepin County,
Minnesota, their special veteran s court was found in a study of two years to have
lowered the amount of offenses committed of 83% of the participants six months
after being in the program, as compared to six months before.
One judge noted that working with fellow veterans is particularly helpful to those
going through this special court. Veterans Today found that these programs have very
high success rates, and some programs can have up to a 90% success rate.
4. On Kentucky.gov, it shows that there are two special veterans courts; the first
one in Jefferson County, and the second in Fayette County. I believe that in order
for these courts to continue to function all that they must do is follow the
precedent set by already established courts in the U.S., as on average they have a
very high success rate. One thing I found in common with the articles I read is that
it is important for veterans being put through these kinds of courts to be working
with fellow veterans, and so I think that this should be a big staple for the two
courts in Kentucky to do to help ensure the success of their programs. As one
veteran puts it, you can t talk to a civilian who s never experienced what you have as

Briefing Paper South China Sea
Policy Analysis:
Topic:
The South China Sea has become a significant source of tension in the Indo Pacific
region mostly regarding competing legal claims of territorial sovereignty . China is
at the forefront of this dispute and bases their claim on the nine dash line map. In
May 2014, tensions dramatically increased when China began drilling for oil near the
Paracel Islands located 120 nautical miles away from the Vietnamese coast.
Additionally, sovereignty claims between China and the Philippines over the Spratly
Islands has made this conflict a global issue. China has already built multiple

The United States also play a significant role in the dispute because they are
defending the Philippines borders because their own economic ties with the state.
Because the South China Sea also contains rich fishing grounds and is reported to
hold significant reserves of undiscovered oil and gas, the issue also involves each
states economic agenda. The conflict in the region has become more critical within
international debate because China recently (May 2014) began drilling too close to
the Vietnamese coast (120 nautical miles) which is a direct breach of the Exclusive
Economic Zone (EEZ), a 200 nautical mile area that extends from the baseline of the
coastal nation that gives the nation (Vietnam in this context) sole natural resource
exploitation rights within the zone. The United Nations Convention on the Law of
the Sea (UNCLOS), which was concluded in 1982 entails such guidelines for states
and establishes a series of legal measures and laws on the economic rights of nations
based on their territorial waters and continental baselines . In December 2015, China
rejected a UN s tribunal arbitration with Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson
Hong Lei stating, China s territorial sovereignty should be decided by all the Chinese
Can the Bombing of Dresden Be Justified
Can the bombing of Dresden be justified?
Dresden was Germanys 7th largest city at the time of the war. Historically, Dresden
had been northern Germany s cultural centre a city filled with museums and historic
buildings. The Frauenkirche Cathedral was one of the world s famous buildings.
Dresden was also an extremely important industrial area, which was something that
the allies really did not want, but before February 1945 Dresden was a peaceful
country and there were not any threats from the British yet., Many refugees had fled
to Dresden from the east because of the Soviet Union s attack; therefore making it
harder to find the actual figure of people who died. At 10 p.m. on Tuesday 13

Otherwise we shall come into control of an utterly ruined land. by Winston Churchill,
28 march 1945.
Although there are other reasons that come through that make the bombing of
Dresden seem like an unnecessary part of the war effort. In the first place Britain
did not even start the war. In 1919 Ital, England, France, and U.S came to an
agreement that Germany had to pay for all the damage they did in the First World
War. When Hitler heard of this he started organising an army, air force and started
making allies, like Mussillon s Italy. Six months later Hitler breaks the treaty and
starts another war.
Germany withdrew from the Geneva disarmament conference, which meant they
refused to support a British proposal that air bombing be banned. Dresden was also
a very important rail centre for moving troops, concentration camp prisoners and
war material but it would be no good if the allies destroyed the buildings and
factories, because if there will be, still human s; they can rebuild it. The war
factories of Dresden employed around 10,000 people, many of which lived in the
very centre of the city.
The Russians were asking for help from Britain and the u.s.a because Dresden was
too close to the Russian front line. The number of people that died shows clearly how
the Nazi s failed to provide air raid shelter. People
Dehumanization Of Death In Mulan
1.2 Dehumanization of death Death is an inevitable element of military conflict.
There cannot be a movie that focuses on war and does not touch upon the topic of
death. Disney s Mulan approaches that motif in a very unconventional way. It does
not carry the universal message killing under any circumstances is wrong; it rather
creates a clear rift between what is good and what is bad and what can be forgiven
for the sake of the greater good. Judith Butler, an American philosopher and gender
theorist, wrote that [t]here can be no recognition of [one s] life being like another s
life except through the specific social norms that allow certain populations to emerge
as living beings and others to be considered as non living. We cannot be dependent...

Violence against those who are already not quite living, that is, living in a state of
suspension between life and death, leaves a mark that is no mark (36). That kind of
thinking has clearly been used in Mulan to prevent the audience from feeling any
compassion towards the Huns. There is no discussion whether or not the Huns
deserve to die as their punishment because there is no consideration of whether they
are human or not. The consensus is that since they are evil, monstrous beasts, they
need to disappear. They look like demonic creatures and they behave like a swarm of
insects. Nothing that they have done would have granted them clemency. The army
of Huns seems to enjoy destruction and killings to the point that the death under the
avalanche is almost too merciful for such humanoid beasts. On the other hand, only
the weakest of the Huns, the so called regular soldiers who are not significant to the
plot of the cartoon nor do they possess any profitable battle skills, die under the snow.
The elite of Huns and Shan Yu in contrast seem almost indestructible, the mightiest
creatures of hell facing against humans, partaking in an unequal
Strawberry Spring By Stephen King Analysis
Killer s Perspective
A horror story should have some elements to grab the attention of audience such as
suspense and mystery. However, it is a challenge to achieve this goal especially in a
short story, but that did not seem to be an obstacle for Stephen King, who is famous
for writing horror fiction stories. Jeffrey W. Hunter, who is editor of Contemporary
Literacy Criticism, believes that Stephen King is a marketing phenomenon for the
large number of books he has sold. One of his first works was Strawberry Spring,
which was published along with other short stories in a book titled Night Shift in
1978. In the same manner as other Stephen King s writings, Strawberry Spring is a
story loaded of mystery where death is one of the main components. The story
begins with a narrator s memory about what happened eight years ago when he was
in college in 1968. The narrator remembers how a serial killer who was called
Springheel Jack came into action during strawberry spring which is a natural
phenomenon that only happens every eight years. Four young women were murdered
in that year. Despite the efforts and investigations of police, the murderer was never
caught. After eight years, the strawberry spring has come back and the killer, as well.
Without a doubt, first person narrative point of view, setting, and symbolism are
crucial elements that make Strawberry Spring a fascinating story.
To begin with, Strawberry spring is a story told in first person. The first person
Otto Von Bismarck s Triple Alliance During World War I
The countries of Europe formed various alliances with each other in the years leading
up to World War I, eventually splitting the continent in two. Otto von Bismarck was
instrumental in forming many of these alliances in an attempt to keep the European
Concert together. He was eventually dismissed by Kaiser Wilhelm II, but would still
accurately predict the beginning of the first international war.
Initially, the Triple Alliance was a defensive pact between Germany, Austria Hungary,
and Italy. It guaranteed mutual support in event of an attack by another power. The
Triple Entente, between Britain, Russia, France, was a treaty in direct response to
the Triple Alliance. It was a series of mutual defense pacts that was to stay in place
for the duration of the Triple Alliance. If a member of the Triple Alliance attacked a
member of the Triple Entente, the members of the Triple Entente could attack the
aggressor and the allies of the aggressor once they attacked. Going back a bit, Otto
von Bismarck s greatest diplomatic achievement, the Reinsurance Treaty, was a treaty
between Germany Russia guaranteeing they would remain neutral in a war unless
Germany attacked France or Russia attacked ... Show more content on

The Triple Alliance was initially a strength, offering protection to a weak Austro
Hungarian Empire and Italy. However, the fear it generated in countries such as
Russia, Britain, France (future Triple Entente) would lead to turmoil in Europe. The
Reinsurance Treaty was also strong, preventing conflict between the opposing sides
that would go to fight the war to end all wars. When Kaiser Wilhelm II let the
Reinsurance Treaty expire, Germany now had two enemies, one to the east and one
to the west. The Triple Entente of 1907 was intended to increase security between
Britain, Russia, and France. The treaty failed to do this in the end, only heightening
the arms race which would ultimately lead to World War

Power Of Love In Shakespeare s Romeo And Juliet
Today, 500 years later, we still read and depict one the most famous love stories ever
written in literature. One of Shakespeare s best works, Romeo and Juliet, carries a
very insightful meaning behind his intentions and literature itself. In the book Romeo
and Juliet, Shakespeare s mainly displays the theme the power of lovecan change the
way you act, through the thoughts and actions of Romeo and Juliet. I think
Shakespeare s intent behind this theme was to add drama and shape the theme to be
what it was meant to be.
The power of love has a great impact on Romeo s thoughts and actions from the
second he meets Juliet, to the time he drinks the poison. This significant theme stands
out in Act 2 of Scene 3 when Romeo explains to Friar Lawrence

Also, the third person point of view can let the reader invade the characters minds by
telling them their thoughts, beliefs, and opinions. For example, if a complex
situation has risen, this point of view can give the reader various options on which
the situation can be handled. Another advantage of third person is that the author can
give details and information that other point of views cannot, causing the reader to
have a futuristic thought of what might happen next.
4.) The protagonist of the novel is Robert Langdon. He is an intelligent college
professor that teaches symbology. He is the type of person that is bright and smart,
but lacks the strength and aggressiveness. Robert loves symbology and is
fascinated about the amount of symbols in the world that people see as just
something in their daily life. He always loves to learn more about science, religion,
symbols, or anything that interests him. In the story, his strengths are that he is a
symbology teacher and that he has the intelligent mind to find certain symbols
rapidly to move further and further in the Path of Illumination. Another one of his
strengths is that he thinks quickly in situations where the necessity to act fast is
needed. Like any other story or novel, the intelligent person is always considered
weak, scrawny and lacks the ability to fight well or use weapon effectively. Robert
is similar to that stereotype except for the fact that he is well built from swimming

religions death is viewed as a natural and necessary aspect of the divine creation.
Each religion has different ways in which they deal with death rites of passage
depending on their beliefs, tradition and customs. According to dictionary.com rites

birth, puberty, having children and death. Rites of passage usually involve ritual
activities teaching designed to strip individuals of their original roles and prepare
them for their new role. Everyone must experience death at some point both the

1984 The Ministry Of Truth Analysis
That which is true or in accordance with fact or reality is the Oxford dictionary
definition of the word truth. The Ministry of Truth s purpose is to change history in
order for the Party to benefit from the facts for propaganda, therefore the department
is responsible for the decrease in historic events. Although some would believe that
the most central paradox in Orwell s 1984 is the Ministry of Plenty, it is clearly the
Ministry of Truth, as evidenced by the amount of control that this department gives
the Party.
The Ministry of Truth is clearly the most crucial paradox. The department changes
facts from history, while in reality, the department isn t telling the truth since they
are deleting events from the past in order to look perfect to the public. For
example, Orwell describes, All history was a palimpsest, scraped clean and
reinscribed exactly as often as was necessary (Orwell 40). This is crucial because the
citizens are being lied to in order to protect the reputation of the Party. The citizens
won t know the truth about their own life, which will negatively affect them since the
Party gains power if they are manipulating their own citizens about the truth of
history. This emphasizes that the Ministry of Truth... Show more content on

For example, Orwell explains, It was therefore necessary to rewrite a paragraph of
Big Brother s speech in such a way as to make him predict the thing that had
actually happened (Orwell 38). This is a key factor in the book because the
civilians aren t learning the correct facts, at the correct time. The civilians are easier
to manipulate if the Party makes the Ministry of Truth delete their original
predictions because the civilians will begin to think that the Party is always right.
Therefore, they will be a lot more likely to do what the Party and propaganda say
since they believe that the Party is
The Effects of Sports Teams and Stadiums on Cities Essay
The Effects of Sports Teams and Stadiums on Cities
What if a tax increase came to a city because of a sports team, would it be alright?
Of course not, right? Well, consider being told as a tax payer and being told it will
help the economy of city to build a stadium. However, a tax increase is never highly
looked upon, and large companies sell extraordinary economic growth, and cannot

In the United States, new sports stadiums are commonly seen as a vital part of the

account for a very small proportion of the total economic output of the cities in which
they reside. Some economical studies on the amount of income and employment in
US cities find no evidence of positive economic benefits associated with past sports

that these results suggest that at best, professional sports teams and facilities provide
non pecuniary benefits like civic pride, and a greater sense of community, along with
consumption benefits to those attending games and following the local team in the

Truman Doctrine Research Paper
The Truman Doctrine: Contain the expansion of communism, presumably
everywhere.
Summarize a situation that required U.S. diplomatic efforts during the president s
time in office:
As World War 2 came to a close an Anti Democratic Iron Curtain had descended
across Europe according to the British Prime Minister Winston Churchill. Britain
and most of the other countries in Europe s forces were worn out, and their wealth
all but depleted from the challenges of World War 2. Because of this it was almost
impossible to stop the spread of communism all throughout Europe. The Truman
Doctrine emerged from a speech given by President Truman before a joint session of
congress on March 12, 1947. The speech was given because of a recent

Before the Truman Doctrine there was the Monroe Doctrine that was created in 1823
by American President James Monroe which was overturned by the Truman Doctrine.
The Truman Doctrine was instrumental in the creation of the Marshall Plan, which
was a plan designed to contain communism by lending economic aid to struggling
European countries to help get them on their feet again. This aid would help these
countries fight communism. The Marshall Plan was ratified in 1948. In Truman s
speech he convinced congress that it was important to confront the soviets
immediately, because if they do not then more and more countries would fall to
Communism like Dominoes. This later became known as the Domino Theory which
was introduced to Truman by his Under Secretary Dean Acheson. The Domino
Theory was later to inspire the American interventions in Korea and Vietnam. He
stated that if more countries succumb to communism it would make it easier for
communism to spread, and therefore more difficult to stop. The Truman Doctrine
ended up leading to NATO, and increased anti Communist hysteria. The speech also
convinced the Soviet Union that the U.S. was a threat to Soviet Communism which

Essay On Mule Deer
Mule Deer
Introduction For decades, Colorado has been home to some of the country s largest
mule deer herds, so many in fact that certain areas in Colorado are dubbed the mule
deer factory. Though this so called factory is declining, mule deer are still considered
the most iconic wildlife of the American West. Mule deerget their name from their
very large and mule like ears, which are around three fourths of the length of their
heads. Mule deer usually range from three to three and a half feet tall at the
shoulder, four to seven feet long, and can weigh anywhere from 130 to 300 pounds
in some cases.
Distribution of Mule Deer and Subspecies across the US.
Mule Deer are typically active throughout the entire western United States, including

Mule deer are almost constantly being preyed on by all sorts of predators. This of
course, helps with the management of deer population. This is of course why
people are allowed to hunt animals such as mule deer, to help control their
population. If the population of mule deer were to get larger, odds are they would
largely affect the population of vegetation in the area where the mule deer
population increased. In the act of predation on an organism, the organism that is
consumed is called the prey, and the organism that consumes the other is called the
predator. Things that could affect mule deer population would include the
population of predators which feed on the mule deer. If the population of predators
is below average, the mule deer population will usually be higher. If the population
of predators is above average, then the population of mule deer would be below
An Analysis Of Howard Nemerov s The Vacuum
A Husbands Loss
The Vacuum is a poem that was written by Howard Nemerov. The poem uses the
theme of symbolism to convey the relationship between a vacuum cleaner and a
widower. The poem can be seen as a symbolic description of the experience he is
going through after the demise of his beloved wife. The sentence structure and the
type of figurative language requires one to evaluate and analyze the poem
effectively to understand the meaning. The line in the poem The vacuum cleaner
sulks in the corner closet, its bag limp as a stopped lung (Mays 580) is indicative of
the symbolism that his wife was the housekeeper and when her lungs stopped, the
vacuum cleaner also stopped, because she was the one that used the vacuum.
Nemrov s poetry shows a consistent emphasis on thought and his poems relate a
broad spectrum of emotions and a variety of concerns (Web 1).
In The Vacuum , Howard brings out the emotions of an elderly man after he lost his
wife, which ushered him in a life of loneliness and sorrow. The writer used the
Vacuum pun to distinguish between the obvious homemaking profession of his wife
and despair of the obvious grieving by her husband. Nemerov did not use the vacuum
cleaner symbol as a primary personification since it could have limited the manner in
which he outlined the emotions of the gentleman in the poem. However, the use of
the vacuum symbolism was perfect in an elucidating emptiness that was caused by
the death of the wife. The author uses the vacuum

An Analysis Of Robert Stam s Time And The City
Both literature and cinema have the ability to emotionally engage its audience not
just through the language and visuals but through the poetics created from it. While
literature focuses on precise language and structuring, film can also make use of
various mediums to build on a theme. Many of the poetic themes in both mediums,
however, are found in their use of disunity. Robert Stam appropriately describes this
power of disunity: Each of the filmic tracks can potentially develop an autonomous
temporality entering into complex relations with the other tracks. Film s multitrack
nature makes it possible to stage contradiction between music and image... A quoted
piece of music, with its own rhythm and continuity can accompany an image track
characterized by a different rhythm and continuity. Thus the cinema offers
possibilities of disunity and disjunction not immediately available to the novel. The
possible contradictions between tracks can become an aesthetic resource. Terence
Davies Of Time and the City utilizes this multitrack nature of film. The juxtaposition
of music, sounds, and imagery helps elevate the themes and words of Davies. The
Folks Who Live on the Hill scene is a good example of visual metaphors through
juxtaposition. The black and white montage begins with shots of the elderly in a
Liverpool neighborhood. These are then followed by clips of parents nurturing their
babies and children in the neighborhood, occasionally showing glimpses of the
elderly in the
Good Vs Evil In Beowulf

epic poem encircles the inner conflicts encountered by the warriors due to the

depicts warrior s triumph and attainment of fame, by defeating the physical monsters
as well as by overcoming his inner monsters. The valiant warrior, Beowulfattained

When Beowulf came back to Geatland, he gave all the treasures he earned to his
king Higlac and asked him to distribute it among his people, exhibiting generosity.
Few days later, in his old age and state of weakness, Beowulf had to face the
dragon, another evil figure. The dragon was more powerful and stronger than other
monsters Beowulf had encountered in the past. This was evident when the dragon
began to destroy the city by vomiting fire and smoke (Raffel 2312). His anger
ignited when the runaway slave stole his goblet. When the slave accidently took
shelter under the dragon s cave, located underground, he stole the goblet with a
positive intent of pleasing his master. However, this event enraged the dragon and
erupted more greed towards his own treasures. He started becoming insecure and
more possessive about his treasures and began to destroy the city. Thereafter, Beowulf
came in and fought against the dragon with the motive of gaining fame and
immortality, along with suppressing the feelings of his personal

Sense And Sensibility By Jane Austen
Sense and Sensibility was written by Jane Austen in 1811, the novel describes the
life of three young sisters after the death of their father. The sisters; Elinor,
Margaret, and Marianne Dashwood each are forced to leave their homes with their
mother, Mrs. Dashwood, when their father passes and their home is inherited by Mr.
Dashwood s son, from his first marriage, John Dashwood. The young women and
their mother vacate the home filled with the atrocious presence of Mr. Dashwood s
first wife, Fanny, and depart to Barton Cottage, the residence of the cousin of Mrs.
Dashwood.
At the residence, Marianne quickly falls in love with John Willoughby, who lived
closely to the Barton Cottage. Shortly after, Marianne becomes aware that John
Willoughby was merely a deceitful man who left her to marry a wealthy woman.
Meanwhile, Elinor became intrigued with Edward Ferrars, the elder brother of Mr.
Dashwood s first wife. There is a complication when Elinor was informed that
Edward was already engaged with another woman, but ultimately Edward proposes to
Elinor. Not too long after this engagement, Marianne and Colonel Brandon become
engaged as well. The two sisters and their companions find a home at Delaford while
remaining in touch with their youngest sister Margaret and mother.
Jane Austen wrote many books, but Sense and Sensibility is among one of her most
popular novels. Sense and Sensibility revolves around the theme of society and social
classes, allowing us insight on the social
Colonist Rebellion
As our discussion post provided this week, the colonists responded with rebellion
because of the new acts that were imposed upon them by the British (Schultz, K.,
2013). Their attempt to reform the American colonies contributed to the growth of
the Revolutionary movement because the British tried to enforce stricter policies and
laws (Schultz, K. M., 2013). The British wanted to tighten the policies over the
colonial officials so that it would reduce the corruption, the British wanted control
over the area of land that the settlers occupied, and they wanted to raise revenue by
taxing goods. Although the British were adamant about their purpose, the colonist
believed that rebelling against them would help in receiving their independence.
A few of the ways that the colonists responded with rebellion for the new acts that
the British imposed upon them was with the Boston Massacre in 1770. An angry mob
harassed the British Army, and they end up killing five individuals but later pay for
their indiscretions. In 1772, the American colonist attacked the British Ship, the
Gaspe, sent the crew to shore and burnt the ship. Also, in 1773 the Boston Tea Party
takes place as the colonist disguise themselves, and they discard all the tea into the
harbor. While many more events took place during 1763 to 1776, the American
colonist still persistent at their unwillingness to pay their share of the taxes that had
been implemented by the British.

Ethics And The Code Of Ethics In Schools
Ethics in School
Meaning
Ethics is a science that deals with the ideals involved in human conduct. In other
words, it is the rules or standards, governing the conduct of a person or the conduct
of the members in a profession. It relates to the social rules that influence a person to
be honest while dealing with other people. The word ethics is originated from a Greek
word Ethos which means character or manner.
Introduction
Ethics are concerned with the moral actions of human beings. We can see the practice
of ethics in almost every profession. In schools, ethics applies to the management
board, administration, teachers and most importantly students. For each entity, a code
of ethics is created either from within the educational institution, through professional
organizations or by both. Here the code of ethics provides ethical standards that
people associated with the school, as discussed above, are expected to follow in
conjunction with each other as laid by the decision making bodies. In India, the code
of professional Ethics for School Teachers is followed as per the instructions laid
down by National Council for Teacher Education(NCTE). ... Show more content on

The Bacteria s Environment And Its Unusual Ability May...
Alcanivorax borkumensis is a bacteria that found in aquatic areas of the world. It is
an unusual bacteria because it has the ability to break down oil found in the oceans.
In the following pages, I will discuss the size and shape of the bacteria. Also, I will
discuss how the bacteria s environment and its unusual ability may help mankind in
controlling pollution of the world s oceans.
First, we will discuss the basic makeup of the bacteria. A. borkumensis is a rod
shaped bacteria with no flagella that was discovered in 1998. It is aerobic and
halophilic, meaning it gains energy from oxygen and tends to thrive in salty
environments, such as seas and oceans. Also, A. borkumensis is considered an
alkane degrader, as it can eat alkanes, and use this as a source of energy
(Alcanivorax, n.d.). A single A. borkumensis is 2.0 to 3.0 micrometers in length;
unless they survived solely on an n alkane diet, where they were found to only be
1.0 to 1.5 micrometers in length. The bacteria is roughly 0.4 to 0.7 micrometers in
diameter (Buss, 2010).
Now that we know how the bacteria survives, we will discuss the basic components
of its environment. It was first discovered in sediments found in the North Sea, where
there is an abundance of oil and gas wells. A. borkumensis is found naturally in
seawater. While A. borkumensis has been found in non polluted water, it is most
commonly found in oceans that contain petroleum oil. This oil can be found naturally
or from oil spills. It is found in
Fptp Voting System Essay
For more than 130 years, Canada s FPTP voting system has been a source of
discussion and debates, however, it remain all the same with no changes. In this
section we will discuss few suggested reforms and referendums on the Canadian
electoral system that took place over the past decades until most recently in 2015. We
aim from that section to understand what might be the reasons for not considering
any changes on the electoral system in Canada. For example in the 1920s, the
emergence of a third party known by the Progressive Party helped to ignite the
discussion about the possibility of changing the federal electoral system in Canada.
However, the submitted proposals to switch to a majority electoral system like the
Alternative Vote system (which requires at least 50 per cent of the votes to win a
seat) were unsuccessful.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Here we discuss only few of them. The 2005 Single Transferable Vote referendum in
British Columbia (BC). British Columbia, in which 160 citizen were chosen by

electoral system throughout the province. The Assembly met in early 2004 to set out
a series of public consultation meetings. The Assembly then decided to recommend
that BC should adopt the Single Transferable Vote (STV) system . Their
recommendation to adopt a new electoral system was put in a referendum to question
voters in 2005 provincial election. However, the government at that time raised the
existing referendum legislation to require a successful vote to achieve at least 60
percent support across the whole province, must including 50% support in 60% of
the number of ridings. The referendum results fell slightly short to meet the above
criteria. In 2009, a similar referendum for the Single Transferable Vote (STV) system
was held in May 2009. However, the adoption of STV was

Casamar Street in reference to a Custody Issue.
Upon our arrival, I was met by a white male adult identified as James churches.
James stated that his wife Blaire Churches was the one who contacted police in
reference to her ex husband Matthew Medina possibly conceal their five year old
son Nolen Medina(04/10/2012). James then stated that Blaire was not at the
residence, but was on her way home. While waiting for Blaire to arrive, James stated
that they have an ongoing custody battle with Matthew. James then stated that
Matthew provided an address (1818 for Club Crest Way in HendersonNV)his
visitation with Nolen, but the address was incorrect. James went ... Show more

Blaire called Henderson Police Department in my presence and verified that 1818
Club Crest did not exist. Blaire completed a voluntary statement.
Blaire provided a phone number for Matthew and I was able to contact him via
telephone.
I contacted Matthew via telephone, Matthew stated that he did not answer Blaire s
calls due to the decree issued by the judge requesting they only have contact via
text message or Email in order to have any and all conversations documented
(Blaire corroborated this statement). Matthew then stated he messed up the address
and the correct address was 2088 Club Crest Way Henderson, NV 89014. Matthew
then stated that he did not intentionally provide a false address and messed up,
Matthew stated that he even messed up on his leave paperwork. Matthew emailed
me a copy of his leave paperwork and it had 3838 Club Crest listed as the address.
Matthew stated that he did not mean to mess up the address so bad and was
extremely cooperative. I instructed Matthew to advise me when he arrived at the
correct address and I would have the Henderson Police Department dispatch a unit to
the address to verify he is there and that Nolen is in no danger, to which he agreed. I
provided Matthew with the case number as well.
Officer Hemenway (P#2133) responded and verified Nolan was at the address with
Matthew and was in no danger. Officer Hemenway then informed me Matthew had

Sachin Tendulkar Personality
The word God itself is not enough to describe the personality of Sachin Tendulkar
and his contributions to cricket. He is considered as one of the greatest batsman in
the history of cricket.
Largely considered Master Blaster, Sachin Tendulkar was born on 24 April 1973
at Bombay, India to a middle class family. He as youngest of four children
consisting of 2 brothers and a sister. His father was a well known Marathi novelist
and a professor, while his mother worked for a life insurance company. His named
little Tendulkar after his favourite music director, Sachin Dev Burman. The pure
hearted Sachin never considered his siblings as a child from his first mother.
He spent his childhood in the Sahitya Sahawas Cooperative society in Bandra. At
younger age, Sachin was a bully and his elder brother Ajith introduced him to cricket,

Tendulkar now considers the 13 coins he won then as some of his most prized
possessions. Besides school cricket, he also played for many clubs. Meanwhile, he
developed a reputation as a child prodigy and his skills became a common
conversation point in local cricket circle. He received many awards in cricket at his
initial years.
On 14 nov 1987, Sachin represented Bombay in Ranji Trophy. However, he was not
selected for final eleven but often played as a substitute fielder. He narrowly missed
playing alongside his idol Sunil Gavaskar. Next year, on a debut match against
Gujarat he scored a century, and formed a world record of becoming the first and
youngest batsmen to achieve this. His domain of cricket started expanding
exponentially. Soon, in 1992, Tendulkar became the first overseas born player who
represented Yorkshire. Selected as a replacement for the injured Australian fast
bowler, Tendulkar made fairly good scores as a
The Mathematical Concept of Infinity
The implications of infinity (co) are actualiy not that old. The Greeks were some of
the first mathematicians recorded to have imagined the concept of infinity. However,
they did not actuaily delve into the entirety of this number. The Greeks used the term
potentially infinite, for the concept of an actual limitless value was beyond their
comprehension. The actual term infinitywas defined by Georg Cantor, a renowned
German mathematician, in the late nineteenth century. It was originally used in his
Set Theory, which is a very important theory to the mathematical world. The value of
infinity can get a bit confusing, as there are different types of infinity. Many claim
that infinity is not a number. This is true, but it does have a value. So, infinity may
be used in mathematical equations as the greatest possible value. i The value of
infinity Infinity (00) is the greatest possibleivalue that can exist. However, there are
different infinities that, by logic, are greater than other forms of itself. Here is one
example: to the set of ait Naturai numbers Z43, 2, 3, 4,...}, there are an infinite
amount of members. This is usualiy noted by Ko, which is the cardinality of the set
of alt natural numbers,
Likewise, in the set of ail Real numbers RU, 1.1, 1.11, 1.111,...} there are an infinite
amount of members as weli. This sets cardinality is represented by t or, as Cantor
proved in 1874, N1. it there are an infinite amount of Real values between each of the

Red Coloringing Essay
Decades ago, when hummingbird feeders were made from plain glass vials or
bottles, a little red coloring was often added to the sugar water to attract the birds
attention. A tradition was born, and though modern commercial feeders are proven
attractive without additional color in the contents, to many people a hummingbird
feeder just doesn t look right unless it s filled with red liquid.
Hummingbird experts have long discouraged the used of colored feeder solutions as
unnatural and unnecessary, but there was little more than anecdotal evidence to
suggest how synthetic dyes might affect the birds health. Now studies on humans, lab
animals, and even cell cultures are providing that evidence without turning the
hummingbirds themselves into ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In a 1983 study, American researchers found that high doses of Red No. 40
administered to adult rats and their offspring resulted in significantly reduced
reproductive success, parental and offspring weight, brain weight, [and] survival as
well as behavioral abnormalities. Though the U.S. Food and Drug Administration
approved its use over twenty years ago, there is enough uncertainty about the safety
of Red No. 40 that it is banned in Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany,
Sweden, and Switzerland.
Another food dye under scrutiny is FD C Red No. 3 (erythrosine), also found in
liquid food coloring and often added to feeder solutions. In 1990, the FDA banned
certain uses of Red No. 3 in response to a study that found that large doses of this
dye cause thyroid tumors in male rats. Subsequent research has identified estrogen
mimicking effects of the dye on human breast cancer cells and linked high doses to
reduced sperm production and behavioral changes in lab animals. (Neither Red No.
3 nor Red No. 40 should be confused with the infamous Red No.2, which was banned
in the U.S. in 1976.)
What are the implications of this research for hummingbirds and the people who
love and feed them? The most alarming aspect of these studies is that many of the
harmful effects were dose dependent: The larger the dosage of dye, the greater the
effect. A hummingbird the size of a Black chinned needs to drink about two and a
half times its body weight in 4:1 sugar water

  • 2. Critical Theories Of Reader-Response Theory People start to express and exchange their opinions about art or literature works and try to understand the deeper meaning of them with the development of the society. Different critical theories that are introduced during this semester in Critical Inquiry have been built based on various of society events or issues in different periods. After getting in touch with each popular theory, Reader Response Theory, in the personal opinion, has become one of the commonest theories since it only considers the personal experience of the readers and how it connects to the work; the readers would receive different messages and come up with their personal thoughts and comments toward what they read, see or watch. Different from African American Theory or LGBTQ Theory, Reader Response Theory does not have a limitation on the subject position or cultural background because the comments and thoughts are based on the readers personal experience and from their own view points, and this characteristic will always benefit people not only in college but also in their entire life by expanding their horizons and helping them to find and understand their own lens in professional practices. In Lois Tyson s Using Critical Theory, she explains that Reader Response Theory is something interesting or useful about ourselves (13). Although there are several types of Reader Response Theory focusing on different fields, when people come up with their reflections about a work, they are led by a

As a kid during those days, doctor was the only term I knew. I did not have any idea of pediatrician, cardiologist, neurologist, surgeon, etc. and the meanings of the said specializations. In my early teens and as a part of growing up and finding myself, I developed my interest in cosmetics, beauty formulas, skin care products, and make up and I also wanted to cure people with skin disorders, and even up to this day, I am hoping that I will become a Dermatologist someday. Study of a STATCOM Application for Voltage Stability Evaluated S.Rajasekqar, Assoc Professor HOD, NIST, Nagole, Hyderabad Abstract: In this paper voltage stability is evaluated b v both dynamic P V curves and time domain simulations, considering the combined dynamic control effects of a static compensator (SZ4TCOh!) and transformer on load taps (OLT). The studied system is heavily loaded at hvo locations and an 80 Mvar STA TCOM is connected to improve the voltage stability of entire s~stem for a contingency of a three terminal line outage. The resu[ts presented in this paper: (a) show that a STA TCOM can greatly improve the voltage stability of a heavily loaded system, (b) quantl~ the combined impacts of SZ4TCOM and OLT control: (c) illustrate that the margin of stability can be easily and effectively evaluated by P V curves; (d) correlate tirnedomain simulations and P V curves for a system with a STATCOM and OLT dynamic control. The Shawshank Redemption is one of the best movies I have watched in my 19 years of life. This exceptional movie displays many life lessons throughout with multiple themes that give the movie more meaning. In the movie, you will see Andy Dufresne, Ellis Boyd Redding (or known as Red,) Boggs, Warden Norton, Brooks Halten, and Tommy as very important characters. In my opinion, I would have liked the movie to have kept going a little bit longer so we could see what happens next. It would have been nice if we knew what happened next with Red and Andy. So many questions could be asked such as: did the two of them stay out of trouble? Did the two of them ever come back to the United States? If anyone wanted to see a movie that will drop their jaws, I would tell them Shawshank is the movie to watch. It truly was an amazing

This Era was marked by artistic movement such as the creation of Jazz music and a rich supply of American writing. During this time the federal government had been providing some aid to the states but leaving the bulk of the power to the states, which is known as a dual federalism. It also marked the end of modest social traditions and wave of materialism encouraged by increased customer spending with the open use of a new concept called credit. It was created by Judge Robert Russell in an effort to help veterans who have broken the law due to the adverse psychological and emotional effects that military service can have upon a service member. Some veterans, after undergoing various combat situations, being cut off from family and friends, and other hardships associated with being in the military, are not able to properly assimilate back into civilian life, if at all. They may resort to drug use or alcoholism to cope, and/or act out in other ways as well. In the various articles of this kind of court I ve read, courts usually require that the veterans offense... In the case of Judge Robert Russell s original special veteran s court, his court saw (at the time of this particular article) a 90% success rate without any recidivism. In Hennepin County, Minnesota, their special veteran s court was found in a study of two years to have lowered the amount of offenses committed of 83% of the participants six months after being in the program, as compared to six months before. One judge noted that working with fellow veterans is particularly helpful to those going through this special court. Veterans Today found that these programs have very high success rates, and some programs can have up to a 90% success rate. 4. On Kentucky.gov, it shows that there are two special veterans courts; the first one in Jefferson County, and the second in Fayette County. I believe that in order for these courts to continue to function all that they must do is follow the precedent set by already established courts in the U.S., as on average they have a very high success rate. One thing I found in common with the articles I read is that it is important for veterans being put through these kinds of courts to be working with fellow veterans, and so I think that this should be a big staple for the two courts in Kentucky to do to help ensure the success of their programs. As one veteran puts it, you can t talk to a civilian who s never experienced what you have as

Otherwise we shall come into control of an utterly ruined land. by Winston Churchill, 28 march 1945. Although there are other reasons that come through that make the bombing of Dresden seem like an unnecessary part of the war effort. In the first place Britain did not even start the war. In 1919 Ital, England, France, and U.S came to an agreement that Germany had to pay for all the damage they did in the First World War. When Hitler heard of this he started organising an army, air force and started making allies, like Mussillon s Italy. Six months later Hitler breaks the treaty and starts another war. Germany withdrew from the Geneva disarmament conference, which meant they refused to support a British proposal that air bombing be banned. Dresden was also a very important rail centre for moving troops, concentration camp prisoners and war material but it would be no good if the allies destroyed the buildings and factories, because if there will be, still human s; they can rebuild it. The war factories of Dresden employed around 10,000 people, many of which lived in the very centre of the city. • 12. Dehumanization Of Death In Mulan 1.2 Dehumanization of death Death is an inevitable element of military conflict. There cannot be a movie that focuses on war and does not touch upon the topic of death. Disney s Mulan approaches that motif in a very unconventional way. It does not carry the universal message killing under any circumstances is wrong; it rather creates a clear rift between what is good and what is bad and what can be forgiven for the sake of the greater good. Violence against those who are already not quite living, that is, living in a state of suspension between life and death, leaves a mark that is no mark (36). That kind of thinking has clearly been used in Mulan to prevent the audience from feeling any compassion towards the Huns. There is no discussion whether or not the Huns deserve to die as their punishment because there is no consideration of whether they are human or not. The consensus is that since they are evil, monstrous beasts, they need to disappear. They look like demonic creatures and they behave like a swarm of insects. Nothing that they have done would have granted them clemency. The army of Huns seems to enjoy destruction and killings to the point that the death under the avalanche is almost too merciful for such humanoid beasts. On the other hand, only the weakest of the Huns, the so called regular soldiers who are not significant to the plot of the cartoon nor do they possess any profitable battle skills, die under the snow. The elite of Huns and Shan Yu in contrast seem almost indestructible, the mightiest creatures of hell facing against humans, partaking in an unequal

However, it is a challenge to achieve this goal especially in a short story, but that did not seem to be an obstacle for Stephen King, who is famous for writing horror fiction stories. Jeffrey W. Hunter, who is editor of Contemporary Literacy Criticism, believes that Stephen King is a marketing phenomenon for the large number of books he has sold. One of his first works was Strawberry Spring, which was published along with other short stories in a book titled Night Shift in 1978. In the same manner as other Stephen King s writings, Strawberry Spring is a story loaded of mystery where death is one of the main components. The story begins with a narrator s memory about what happened eight years ago when he was in college in 1968. The narrator remembers how a serial killer who was called Springheel Jack came into action during strawberry spring which is a natural phenomenon that only happens every eight years. Four young women were murdered in that year. Despite the efforts and investigations of police, the murderer was never caught. After eight years, the strawberry spring has come back and the killer, as well. Without a doubt, first person narrative point of view, setting, and symbolism are crucial elements that make Strawberry Spring a fascinating story. • 25. An Analysis Of Howard Nemerov s The Vacuum A Husbands Loss The Vacuum is a poem that was written by Howard Nemerov. The poem uses the theme of symbolism to convey the relationship between a vacuum cleaner and a widower. The poem can be seen as a symbolic description of the experience he is going through after the demise of his beloved wife. The sentence structure and the type of figurative language requires one to evaluate and analyze the poem effectively to understand the meaning. The line in the poem The vacuum cleaner sulks in the corner closet, its bag limp as a stopped lung (Mays 580) is indicative of the symbolism that his wife was the housekeeper and when her lungs stopped, the vacuum cleaner also stopped, because she was the one that used the vacuum. Nemrov s poetry shows a consistent emphasis on thought and his poems relate a broad spectrum of emotions and a variety of concerns (Web 1). In The Vacuum , Howard brings out the emotions of an elderly man after he lost his wife, which ushered him in a life of loneliness and sorrow. The writer used the Vacuum pun to distinguish between the obvious homemaking profession of his wife and despair of the obvious grieving by her husband. Nemerov did not use the vacuum cleaner symbol as a primary personification since it could have limited the manner in which he outlined the emotions of the gentleman in the poem. However, the use of the vacuum symbolism was perfect in an elucidating emptiness that was caused by the death of the wife. The author uses the vacuum

An Analysis Of Robert Stam s Time And The City Both literature and cinema have the ability to emotionally engage its audience not just through the language and visuals but through the poetics created from it. While literature focuses on precise language and structuring, film can also make use of various mediums to build on a theme. Many of the poetic themes in both mediums, however, are found in their use of disunity. Robert Stam appropriately describes this power of disunity: Each of the filmic tracks can potentially develop an autonomous temporality entering into complex relations with the other tracks. Film s multitrack nature makes it possible to stage contradiction between music and image... A quoted piece of music, with its own rhythm and continuity can accompany an image track characterized by a different rhythm and continuity. Thus the cinema offers possibilities of disunity and disjunction not immediately available to the novel. The possible contradictions between tracks can become an aesthetic resource. Terence Davies Of Time and the City utilizes this multitrack nature of film. The juxtaposition of music, sounds, and imagery helps elevate the themes and words of Davies. The Folks Who Live on the Hill scene is a good example of visual metaphors through juxtaposition. The black and white montage begins with shots of the elderly in a Liverpool neighborhood. These are then followed by clips of parents nurturing their babies and children in the neighborhood, occasionally showing glimpses of the elderly in the

Their attempt to reform the American colonies contributed to the growth of the Revolutionary movement because the British tried to enforce stricter policies and laws (Schultz, K. M., 2013). The British wanted to tighten the policies over the colonial officials so that it would reduce the corruption, the British wanted control over the area of land that the settlers occupied, and they wanted to raise revenue by taxing goods. It is an unusual bacteria because it has the ability to break down oil found in the oceans. In the following pages, I will discuss the size and shape of the bacteria. Also, I will discuss how the bacteria s environment and its unusual ability may help mankind in controlling pollution of the world s oceans. First, we will discuss the basic makeup of the bacteria. A. borkumensis is a rod shaped bacteria with no flagella that was discovered in 1998. It is aerobic and halophilic, meaning it gains energy from oxygen and tends to thrive in salty environments, such as seas and oceans. Also, A. borkumensis is considered an alkane degrader, as it can eat alkanes, and use this as a source of energy (Alcanivorax, n.d.). A single A. borkumensis is 2.0 to 3.0 micrometers in length; unless they survived solely on an n alkane diet, where they were found to only be 1.0 to 1.5 micrometers in length. The bacteria is roughly 0.4 to 0.7 micrometers in diameter (Buss, 2010). Now that we know how the bacteria survives, we will discuss the basic components of its environment. It was first discovered in sediments found in the North Sea, where there is an abundance of oil and gas wells. A. borkumensis is found naturally in seawater. While A. borkumensis has been found in non polluted water, it is most commonly found in oceans that contain petroleum oil. This oil can be found naturally or from oil spills. It is found in

The Greeks were some of the first mathematicians recorded to have imagined the concept of infinity. However, they did not actuaily delve into the entirety of this number. The Greeks used the term potentially infinite, for the concept of an actual limitless value was beyond their comprehension. The actual term infinitywas defined by Georg Cantor, a renowned German mathematician, in the late nineteenth century. It was originally used in his Set Theory, which is a very important theory to the mathematical world. The value of infinity can get a bit confusing, as there are different types of infinity. Many claim that infinity is not a number. This is true, but it does have a value.
