Pete Rose in the Hall of Fame Essay
Pete Rose in the Hall of Fame
To some, including myself, baseball is the greatest sport that has ever been played. It is a game
played by two opposing teams made of multiple players, but only nine players per team play at the
same time. To be part of one of the thirty teams that get to play professional baseball, a player has to
play the game extremely well (www.baseballhalloffame.com). When a player plays the game
better than most have played he gets rewarded, usually with lots of money in a big contract. Then
there are those rare players, the 244 elite players of the game that have already been inducted into
the Hall of Fame. Being inducted in the Hall of Fame is the utmost of baseball fame. The players
listed are remembered forever. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He did not report cash money he accepted for signing baseballs and photographs at baseball card
shows (Reston 1997). It is still to this day not proven that Rose did bet on the baseball team that he
was managing. Rose himself still holds true to his statement that he never bet on the game of
baseball. Evidence is minimal and it has been over ten years, yet he is still ineligible to be voted
into the Hall of Fame. If it was left up to his statistics, he should have been inducted years ago.
There are a handful of the 244 elites that are in the Hall of Fame that did far worse things than
gamble on the game of baseball or evade paying their taxes. For instance, the beloved Ty Cobb
was a horrible racist and once admitted killing a man. One day while walking in Detroit, he
stepped in freshly poured asphalt. Then a construction worker, named Fred Collins, who just
happened to be black, yelled at him. Cobb responded by slapping Collins to the ground. Cobb
was found guilty by the courts, and received a suspended sentence. Collins filed a civil suit, but
settled out of court for $75. Ty Cobb had to deal with the law in one form or another many different
times for striking black men (www.totalbaseball.com). The powers that run the baseball
organization seem to turn their eyes, quite conveniently, away from any number of wife beaters,
and drug addict s everyday. They let known, proven criminals

Low Carb diets are Reckless and Dangerous?
The Medical and sports nutrition establishment are horrified by the concept of low carbohydrate
and ketogenic diets. While studies are being released almost daily proving the superiority of low
carb diets for fat loss, the medical establishment warns against trying them as the long term health
risks are unknown . Apparently it is a case of better the devil you know than the devil you don t .
Dangerous because we don t know IF they re safe
This fence sitting attitude is an absolutely inexcusable disgrace! The devil we know a devil only
revealed as a result of the high carb recommendations is epidemic levels of obesity, diabetes, cancer,
heart disease and depression. Is there any possibility of the unknown risk being worse than the
sickness that the health department recommendations have caused? I think not!
There Might be Side Effects
It is the most patronising hypocrisy that the Medical community warn against using a treatment

An Interview On Child Welfare
As a helping professional focused on child welfare, educational resources are essential to provide
children with adequate support. Often times, the children s advocates, caregivers and volunteers,
need assistance connecting with the school to secure social work services. There have been
countless occurrences where the child is faltering academically and the school is unaware that
they are in foster care. The teachers are overworked and unable to identity which children are in
the greatest need because there are many who struggle. Linking the advocates with social workers
will help increase the likelihood of the children s success. Increasing the awareness of the children
s advocates, informing them of the available resources, enhances their support system. An
interview was conducted with a social worker for several public schools to increase awareness of
the free services offered to families and children within the district. An interview was conducted
with Ashley Fortune MSW, a school social workerfor several schools within Gilbert Public School
District. Ashley Fortune received her Bachelors in Social Workfrom Arizona State University,
subsequently receiving her Masters in Social Work. Throughout the duration of Mrs. Fortune s
professional career, she explored various roles within the field of social work. Post completion of
her Bachelors, she worked in residential center for people with disabilities. She provided direct

Great Britain Research Paper
Great Britain is a country with rich history and a culture that is heavily intertwined with that of the
United States of America. Culture is a conglomeration of features that define a country s social and
behavioral norms such as weather, geography, military history, and its civilian population. Over
time these characteristics have shaped Great Britain into what is today.
Arguably the largest influence on a modern society is the geography of the area they reside in.
Great Britain or the United Kingdom consists of a group of island off the northwest coast of Europe
and is 93,635 square miles or about half the size of California. England, Wales, Scotland and
Northern Ireland are the four nations that make up the United Kingdom. The terrain ... Show more

Throughout the course of history the British empire was one of the most powerful in existence
due to their conquering of large swaths of foreign land through military force. More recent
military conflicts include World War 1 2, The Falklands Campaign, and the Global War on Terror.
Most of Britain s military campaigns have been successful and have led to its people being
extremely proud of their military and heritage. Although the country is small in relative land mass
and population it has frequently punched well above its weight class due to having a highly
developed and well funded military. In modern times, Britain and the United States of America are
allies sharing advancements in military technology and responsibility in ongoing military
operations. The general populace of Britain is extremely proud of its military heritage in a
comparable fashion to the population of the United States of

Methods Of Interviewing And Surveying
To achieve the research aim both methods of interviewing and surveying will be employed. To
complete the first objective doctors will be interviewed in order to assess how they justify using
therapeutic privilege and what influence their medical experience has. In terms of the second
objective previous patients will be surveyed on their opinions of not giving fully informed consent
and what effect they would expect to experience if the therapeutic privilege was used.
Investigative interviews
I propose to interview eight doctors to obtain their personal opinions on therapeutic privilege. In
addition to what arguments they feel they would employ to justify the use of such. This will be
dependant on doctors willingness to participate. Encouraging doctors to get involved will be
difficult. There may be a need for a gatekeeper. Before getting doctors involved, specific
permission will be required. In Scotland, any NHS research must be approved by the Research
Scotland Permissions Coordinating Centre. This body will also hopefully aid me in getting in
contact with doctors.
Before conducting such interviews ethical clearance will be sought. In these interviews, I aim to
include doctors from both genders, with a range of ages and ranges of professional experience.
This will maintain fairness and show if there are any differences between justifications depending
on their previous medical experience. In the interests of time and cost saving these interviews will
be conducted

Roethke s Smart Balance of Joy, Fear and Tension in His...
Inevitability at one point in most of our lives we have to deal with some type of hardship. A lot
of us have experienced first hand or known someone who has had the unfortunate experience of
dealing with a close friend or family member who becomes abusive and aggressive because of drug
or alcohol related problems. My Papa s waltzis a poem that tells the story of a young boydealing
with an abusive father and a broken home. Despite the initial light atmosphere of the poem
Theodore Roethke uses strong and powerful language to convey an underlined meaning to their
dance. My Papa s Waltz is a poem of fear, all the more horrible because the boy is terrified and
hurt by his father, even in play, yet he clings and hangs to him showing how strong... Show more

Someone has to lead in a waltz, which highlights the father s control over the small boy. It isn t
because the boy is being led, but instead the way the father is leading is what makes the dance
not easy. Roethke uses the verb waltz to impose a sense of joy to the poem, because on literal level
the waltz should be easy and smooth, but for the boy and his father it isn t because apparently, their
lives together aren t easy. Continuing the tone of the first stanza, in the second stanza of the poem
the word romped makes their waltz sound carefree, but they romped until the pans/ Slid from the
kitchen shelf. Lines 5 and 6 show how their waltz is causing a violent disruption in their home that
even the boys mother could not tolerate. Again with something that sounds as care free as dancing
with your father Roethke implies an undertone of disturbance and violence that is inevitably taking
a toll on their family and home life. Likewise in the third stanza the speaker mentions that the hand
that held his wrist was battered on one knuckle. Undoubtedly, a hand holding a wrist is more
aggressive and dominant than just a hand holding a hand like in a typical waltz, which is suppose
to a smooth and easy glide. The fathers hand holding the speakers wrist shows both the difference in
the size of their hands and that the speaker waltzes unwillingly. The fact that Roethke chooses the

The American Dream during the Time of the Imagist Movement
I, too, dislike it. Reading it, however, with a perfect contempt for it, one discovers in it, after all,
a place for the genuine (Twentieth Cenutry 231). The time of the imagists was a time of change.
Sometimes that change was and other times it wasn t so good. They fought for freedom,
refering to African Americans and the fight for civil rights. They changed the rules on how to
write. They even made such a lasting impression that the way of writing continued past the time
period and changed into a style of writing to last the years. Although it was said to be created by
one man, the idea actually came from another who had brought the idea up before its time. It
eventually reversed the fact that it came about before it was ready and ended up lasting long after
the era was declared over. Since the literature was changing so was the mind set and it was directly
related. This is where the American Dream comes into play. The American Dream during the time
of the Imagist Movement could be represented by the way of life in that the people of the time were
changing, not only in their writing, but with how they were living in that they would fight for
equality or be more focused on what was real, and that sense of changing was solidified in the
American Dream. The change during the Imagist Movement was due to the new outlook on writing
and how the literature was changing. This movement spurred from the use of symbolism in the
early twentieth century. This movement occured

Directors Duties And Company Law
Directors Duties and Company Law
Introduction
A managing/ executive director is the chief day to day manager of the company s affairs who is
directly involved in the management of the company. A company on the other hand, is a
voluntary association of person formed for doing some business and can be either public or
private. Law according to (Gates 2002) is the set of rules that guides our conduct in society, is
enforceable through public agencies, and obeyed because of the belief that they are right or rather
for the desire of approval from others. Company Law is therefore, rules relating to the formation
of companies and in China, it is generally accepted for it has played an important role in
restructuring State owned enterprises and in improving the business environment. (Gu, 2010).
(Mangal 1995) purports that, Company Law has grown substantially in volume , coverage and
complexity over the years and success consolidations and amendments have sought to increase the
protection of investors and persons who deal with companies. Breach of duty is therefore breaking
the Company Law. Simone s Breaches of Director s Duties and Defences
To whom does Simone owe duties?
Directors according to (Baxt et al 2005), owe a fiduciary duty to the company. They say fiduciary

The Election of 1912 Essay
The Election of 1912
During the Progressive Era, Americans faced the challenge of choosing between four strong
candidates of the election of 1912. Each candidate held concrete platforms that would have different
effects on progressivism. Americans could chose the conservative presidential incumbent William
Howard Taft(R), the New Jersey governor Woodrow Wilson(D), the long time fighter for social
reform Eugene V. Debs (S), or the former president Theodore Rooseveltof the newly formed Bull
Moose Party (Progressive Party). Through this election many steps were taken to change the face of

In the August before the election, the most successful third party in the 20th century was formed.
After Theodore Roosevelt was denied the Republican nomination, he was elected in the newly
formed Progressive Party. Theodore was the man for the job saying, In loyalty, honor and duty
there was nothing for me to do but to heed their call and make the race with all my might,
regardless of present or future consequences to myself . (Miller 527) With this spirit, this third
party had accomplished the unthinkable by becoming in second in the presidential election of
1912. This was the only time in American history that the Republican Party has come in third in
both the popular and electoral vote. Sidney M. Milkis stated, Ostensibly, the cause of
ProgressivismВ—the platform s commitment to direct democracy and social and industrial
justiceВ—gave reform leadership its dignity, indeed its heroic quality. (Claremont Institute) The
Progressive Party s accomplishment proved that third parties can have influence on an election and

The Construction Of Red Black Trees
1 Introduction
In recent years, much research has been devoted to the construction of red black trees; nevertheless,
few have refined the confusing unification of Internet QoS and active networks [3,13,23,18,8]. The
impact on random robotics of this has been adamantly opposed. An essential problem in hardware
and architecture is the synthesis of checksums. To what extent can hash tables be developed to
address this question?
Statisticians never enable the Turing machine in the place of robots. Such a hypothesis is mostly a
confirmed aim but fell in line with our expectations. Indeed, Web services [22] and public private
key pairs have a long history of interacting in this manner. Indeed, operating systems [30] and RAID
have a long history of interacting in this manner [35,22,19,33]. The basic tenet of this method is the
visualization of hierarchical databases.
Another essential riddle in this area is the emulation of cache coherence. It should be noted that
LactylMuset locates local area networks. However, large scale configurations might not be the
panacea that systems engineers expected. Even though similar approaches improve the memory
bus, we achieve this goal without harnessing the compelling unification of operating systems and
context free grammar.
LactylMuset, our new heuristic for perfect archetypes, is the solution to all of these grand
challenges. The disadvantage of this type of method, however, is that the foremost large scale

An Exploration of Clarissa s gift through different points of view in Virginia Woolf s Mrs. Dalloway
Multiple points of view are represented and shifted through various characters in Virginia Woolfs
Mrs. Dalloway through indirect discourse, which helps to describe the innermost thoughts of Woolf
s central characters using singular pronouns in the third person. It is these multiple points of view
that establish interconnectedness among the characters, mirroring the interconnectedness that
comes with Clarissa s gift: her parties; it is these parties in which she brings people together and
creates a human dialogue.

very same motorcar, which is precisely when the point of view switches to Septimus , whereby his
consciousness is shrouded in trauma and shell shock a definite dichotomy between the opposing
worlds of himself and Clarissa s. Despite coming from seemingly opposing worlds, the subtle
transition establishes the interconnectedness between the two characters almost as if though they
are one person or entity.
A second significant transition occurs when Peter Walsh, a former love of Clarissa s, pays an
unexpected visit to Clarissa the same morning. Here we get a sense of their feelings and thoughts
towards each other, and learn that the togetherness they once had, has been lost:
He s very well dressed, thought Clarissa; yet he always criticises me...Here she is mending her
dress; mending her dress as usual, he thought; here she s been sitting all the time I ve been in
India; mending her dress; playing about; going to parties; running to the House and back and all
that, he thought, growing more and more irritated, more and more agitated. (41) The shift in point
of view from Clarissa s to Peter s emphasizes how separate and disconnected their lives have
become, which perfectly contrasts with the way in which both the characters inner thoughts are
smoothly intertwined. Clarissa is usually

Beyond Katrina:
Improving Disaster Response Capabilities
By Arnold M. Howitt and Herman B. Dutch Leonard, Kennedy School of Government
As Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, and Wilma successively lashed the gulf coast starting in late August
2005, nature s fury exposed serious weaknesses in the United States emergency response
capabilities. Not all emergencies pose this magnitude of challenge. In the United States, the initial
and usually major responsibility for disaster response rests with local authorities. This bottom up
system of emergency management has a long history and continues to make sense in most
circumstances. Core Challenges for Large Scale Disaster ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Katrina was a crisis primarily because of its scale and the mixture of challenges that it posed, not
least the failure of the levees in New Orleans. Because of the novelty of a crisis, predetermined
emergency plans and response behavior that may function quite well in dealing with routine
emergencies are frequently grossly inadequate or even counterproductive. That proved true in New
Orleans, for example, in terms of evacuation planning, law enforcement, rescue activities, sheltering,
and provisions for the elderly and infirm.
evacuation, making emergency repairs to the levees, and providing food and law and order in an
unprepared shelter). These measures, born of necessity, may be quite different from or exceed in
scale anything responders have done before. They must be creative and extremely adaptable to
execute improvised tactics. Equipping organizations to recognize the novelty in a crisis and
improvise skillfully is thus a far different (and far more difficult) matter from preparing mainly
to implement preset emergency plans. Scalability and Surge Capacity In many disasters, as Katrina
well illustrated, responders must cope with far greater numbers of endangered people or more
extensive damage than usual. To scale up operations to handle this surge of demand, emergency
agencies require access to resources in larger quantities than normal and frequently to specialized
equipment or

During the 1960 s a woman s role in society was greatly changed through both social and legal
means. Women s rights movements in the United States date back to 1848 at the Seneca Falls
Convention, but were greatly ignored after women were granted the right to vote in 1920 by the
nineteenth amendment. Many reasons contributed to the reemergence of women s movements
but the most prevalent is the end of World War II in 1945. During World War II, more than three
million women of all classes of society voluntarily exchanged their aprons and jobs as a house
wives and took up real tools in factories. Women working in industrial jobs during World War II
affected the mind set of both men and women about the full capabilities of women. People could...

allowing them a legal opportunity to file suit against discriminatory organizations. By the end of the
1960 s women significantly changed their position in society and law and overcame sexism in
several ways including breaking into male dominated fields, moderate and radical thinking,
breaking down male power structures and through cultural expressions. Although women
experienced profound cultural change during the 1960 s many things including a male dominated
society, the classic perception of women and opposition to equal work undermined women s

did not change much during the 1960 s. Other movements, including the civil rights and anti war

Essay On Integrating Women Into The World Economy
Integrating Women into the World Economy
Introduction
On November 9, 1989, the world s economy changed dramatically. The fall of the Berlin wall
produced a new world order which enabled states to connect on political, economic, and social
levels with nations that were previously inaccessible to the western world. This created an
interaction across national boundaries. The past two decades have seen the growing economic
interdependence of countries worldwide, including an increased volume of cross border
transactions of goods and services, international capital flows, and most importantly, the rapid and
widespread diffusion of technology ( Economic and Social Survey of Asia and the Pacific, 1999 ).

This has contributed to a disparity in gender equality in the economic sector, as most opportunities
for women have been severely overlooked. The United Nations, recognizing this, is committed to
decreasing the gap between gender developments. The Economic and Financial Committee has
declared the topic of women and development to be revisited and revised by the General
Assembly on an annual basis. The issue of globalization and development is one of many agenda
topics, however, and gender development is all encompassing, as it includes sectors at the regional
and local levels.
One of the most groundbreaking developments on the topic, the special session entitled Women
2000: Gender Equality, Development and Peace for the Twenty First Century was recommended
by GA resolution 52/100 and was designed to review the Beijing Declaration and Platform for
Action ( Beijing +5 Process and Beyond ). Paragraph 156 of the 1995 Beijing Platform for Action

The Education Of The United States And China
Modifying Education in the United States and China
Perhaps there is nothing more imperative to the success of a nation today than the education of its
people; developed education leads to innovation, an improved economy, and, possibly most
importantly, a confidence from society about government. The rise of every great nation has been
preceded by advancing education. Although education has been mostly examined from the
perspective of higher education in the past, this lens fails to provide an adequate picture of the
average citizen. Students now attend higher education at larger percentages than they did 50 years
ago; nevertheless, the only mandatory education that a citizen receives is as a minor, under the age
of 18. Developed nations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nonetheless, China s leaders have done a magnificent job, particularly in the last 10 years, of
changing international perception about their international goals and their trustworthiness. More
people around the world have a positive image of China now than they have had in the past 50
years.
The United States, on the other hand, has seen a decrease in their global status since the 1980 s.
Although it remains a Superpower, more and more American citizens believe that their days as a
hegemon are behind them and that their leadership on the world stage is diminishing. This dying
belief in American exceptionalism is a problem for the US. In order to achieve many of its
domestic and international goals, a democratic government needs the support of its people, and if
the people decide they are no longer capable of, or interested in, being the world leader, their
position at the top is unsustainable. In the future, this waning attitude of exceptionalism is likely to
change the way that America interacts with both its allies and its adversaries.
Despite their differences in language and culture, China and the United States actually have many
striking similarities, one of them being that they are two of the most populated countries in the
world. Although the population of China is more than threefold that of the US, both countries
understand the struggle of protecting and providing for an enormous

problem and enhances aging and the creation of wrinkles.
8.Natural diuretic Coconut water is great for urinary problems, because it promotes urine
production and it cleanses the body from toxic materils. Coconut water is also helpful in
dissolving some types of kidney stones and gets rid of them from the body. You can add a little bit
of sea salt in your healthy drink and consume it twice a day for the best results.

a lesson to the US about not to count on this particular General as a useful/reliable permanent ally.
As the 1985 elections approached, and with reelection prohibited, President Suazo was looking for
ways to nominate a friend, Oscar Mejia Arellano, as continuity of his government. Most Hondurans
understood that no much progress was made during his administration since the US Embassador
Negroponte and General Alvarez basically had guided the country. In 1986 Jose Azcona Hoyos
became president of Honduras. As funding and aid became limited, and the US Contra funding
methods were severely questioned and investigated, the presidency of Azcona was one in which
peace in the region began to unfold. In the US, President Ronald Reagan and his administration left
office in 1988 with high ratings and in Honduras, by the time President Azcona completed his turn
in 1990, the Contra rebels in Nicaragua were demobilizing. Political games, hidden agendas,

Use Of Romantic And Identity Crushes In Shakespeare s...
Its clear to see that Shakespeare uses both romantic and identity crushes in the story Romeo and
Juliet but not only did Shakespeare show the different types of crushes but he revealed the danger
of neglect through the main characters parents. He got his audience thinking through his plays. One
might wonder if the parents neglect could have ultimately lead to the star crossed lovers death.
The answer to that would of course be yes and those inactive parents could have done as little as
taking their children s relationships seriously to have saved the doomed teenagers. In the Pickhart
article, the author explains how, Romantic crushes are formed by finding someone whom they find

Brain Plasticity
The brain is a remarkable engine. It is so remarkable, and complex that researchers and
neuroscientist today are still discovering many fascinating wonders about the brain. Brain plasticity
is an area with a substantial amount of research. Brain plasticity is the brains ability to change and
reorganize the components of it s structures and mechanism (Mikadze, 2014). This is an
extraordinary ability that the brain has. It is even more amazing to consider how the brain does this
after brain damage in stroke patients. In order to comprehend just how wonderful brain plasticity

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Intellectual Property Rights
Intellectual property rights are a bundle of exclusive legal rights over creations of the mind, both

of those productions. These rights also promote creativity and the dissemination and application of

Why People Cant Go To Church

Their case is past all hope; they are crying in extreme misery and perfect despair; but here you

This really sticks out to me because every Sunday that we sit in church, its easy to take it for

Lessons Of Ronald Reagan Administration
Full Article
IT IS VERY COMMON to hear that government would run better if it were more businesslike. I
think that is correct. Nevertheless, I will turn the tables on that proposition. I believe that business
would benefit from learning some management lessons from a surprisingly gifted governmental
executive Ronald Reagan.
Those of us who had the good fortune of working for President Reagan witnessed firsthand the
effective management style of an unusually successful chief executive. Here are 10 lessons that I
learned from observing him in action.
Lesson 1: Set Clear and Attainable Objectives, albeit Goals that Seem Difficult to Achieve. In early
1981, President Reagan set his sights on a healthier economy with lower inflation ... Show more

I ll give you a very personal example. In a public presentation describing the budget problems
facing the United States, I had the temerity to suggest that annual Social Security benefit
increases (the so called cost of living adjustments, or COLAs) were not part of an insurance
program. They were really welfare benefits paid by someone else, in this case the working
population. Some member of the Congress was so angry with me that he urged my impeachment. I
was very relaxed. The odds were that, if the issue ever did reach the president, he would just have a
good laugh. Of course, the threat of my impeachment quickly evaporated.
Lesson 5: Use Humor to Good Effect. Yes, Ronald Reagan loved to tell funny stories. One of his
favorite ones concerned the boy who was digging through a manure pile. His explanation for that
strange action was that there had to be a pony in it somewhere.
But usually the president s purpose for telling a humorous tale was very serious. He was always
too polite to tell some boring person to shut up. Rather, he preferred to interrupt by telling a story.
When he finished, the discussion would quickly shift to a new subject.
On other occasions, when the internal debate was in danger of getting too strident, he would break
the tension by telling another funny story. He possessed a deep inventory of humor, much of which
drew upon his authentic Irish brogue as well as a fine Italian accent.

Personal Branding In The Workplace
Before you can learn much about how to use personal branding for a competitive edge, it s
important to have an understanding of what personal branding is. Fortunately, it s possible to take
a look at the way many successful people have used personal branding to get a feel for what it is
and how it can work for you.
Personal branding is something that has been done by a number of well known people. Some of
the most well known among them are:
* Oprah Winfrey. Think what you will about Oprah s personality, but from the time that she
branded her show with her own name and aired a number of her personal struggles in a public
way to the time that she launched her magazine, her book club and the talk show careers of Dr.

In addition to Oprah and The Donald , there are a variety of others who have built their identities

everyone to recognize that cooking is something that everyone can do) to Richard Branson,

Goodman Brown Innocence
From Ignorant Innocence to Enlightened Corruption
Nathaniel Hawthorne was born in 1804, in the city of Salem in Massachusetts. His familial
ancestors were amongst the earliest settlers of the Massachusetts Bay Colony. One of Nathaniel s
grandfathers served as a judge in the 1692 Salem witch trials and had condemned twenty five
women to death. Nathaniel Hawthorn incorporates both his fascination and his horror at his family
s involvement in the witch trials and focuses much of his literature on the social history of New
England and the Puritans. In Nathaniel Hawthorne s short story Young Goodman Brown,
Hawthorne expresses his true feelings about the negative beliefs of the puritan religion through a
coming of age story, showing the loss of innocence that every Puritan goes through to reach
maturity. In the story, Hawthorn utilizes duplicity in his naming of the characters. The main

How Significant Was The New Deal
How Significant was the New Deal for the USA?
There were numerous factors brought up, questioning whether or not the New Deal was in fact
beneficial for the whole of America. Many say no, as it was followed by a handful of other issues,
such as inflation, national debt, and unemployment. On the contrary, I will be arguing that it was,
in many ways, helpful for their economy of the US, due to the benefits regarding human rights,
standard of living, and the citizen s overall happiness.
One of the many factors in which the New Deal was seen as beneficial would definitely be the
recognition of various human rights, including rights for Women, Blacks and Native Indians, as
well as workers in Trade Unions. This showed the citizens how much Roosevelt cared for everyone
in the country, speaking and acting for the minorities. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

and it affects more people than diabetes, heart disease and cancer combined. Chronic paincan begin

Definition of Chronic Pain
Chronic pain is based on the view that acute pain signals damage tissue, whereas chronic pain
results from central and peripheral sensitization in which pain is constant after nociceptive inputs
have weakened. Defining chronic pain by duration does not indicate whether long lasting pain is
clinically significant. Some people that may have low back pain can have normal lives. Patients
with unrelieved chronic pain problems often results in the inability to work which can lead the
patients unable to pay for their health insurance (AAPM Facts and Figures on Pain, 2011). Chronic
pain is known as pain that is persisting. There are pain signals that keep firing in the nervous system

The Mining Industry And Its Effects On The Environment
1.INTRODUCTION
The world as we know it, is continuously evolving. With an increase in population, there exists a
great deal of economic and social needs. The earth is enriched with a vast of diverse precious
minerals which play a significant role in our lives. These minerals are used in many sectors such as
medicine, construction, agriculture etc. To extract these precious minerals from the earth s crust,
extensive mining operations are carried out daily. These operations comprise drilling and blasting of
ores to attain the minerals. During these operations great harm and damage is being done on the
environment.
The mining industry is by far the most influential industry with regards to setting a country s
economy in motion. Different mines extract different minerals from coal to diamond and gold.
These resources are embedded within ores which have to be drilled and blasted to be extracted.
After retracting the resources the waste rock and waste that is detached from the ore during
processing, is dumped away from the pit onto a surface waste dump which is commonly known as
mine tailings. Mine tailings are the largest mine wastes on earth and can reach several hundred
meters in elevation. This type of waste results to countless environmental effects.
Excluding water, concrete is the mostly used material on earth. It is considered as the most
important material in the Building Environment due to its extensive usage in the construction
industry. Concrete is primarily used

The minorities, black Americans, especially, saw a difference in treatment themselves when on

What target consumer market should be chosen for a new energy beverage brand? §
Seeing as the heaviest users of energy beverages are males between the ages of 12 and 34,
DPSG should market their product toward this group. 4. What product should be introduced and

drinks but has other health benefits (i.e. Vitamin Water, Odwalla, Naked) could also attract the
abovementioned consumers. 5. Through what channel(s) should a new energy beverage brand be

channels. As the case points out, convenience stores and supermarkets made up approximately 90%
of retail sales dollars should be our primary focus.

White Christmas Literary Devices
Dreaming of A White Christmas was written by Bing Crosby during the year of 1942. This

this song because he had a purpose to tell parents and us they key memories. Key memories of
the holiday season that most people love and cherish. This song had some literary devices I
wanted to discuss. One of the literary devices that got my attention was imagery. This song has
imagery because in (1:1) it say White Christmas this makes me imagine the snow falling during

A Study On Selecting A Mentor
Reflect on what you have learnt from the meetings with your project mentor, including the
presentation that you gave to your project mentor?
Selecting a Mentor
My project mentor was Mr Laeeq ur Rehman, who is a senior faculty member at College of
Accounting and Management Sciences (CAMS) and was also my tutor for the ACCA paper P3.
Mr Rehman is an ACCA, MBA, and CGA. He has mentored several students to successfully

ideas.
First Meeting
During the first meeting, Mr. Rehman explained me the required format of the research and
analysis project. He asked me the reason I had chosen the particular topic and we had a thorough
discussion regarding the chosen topic. He advised me to read the Oxford Brookes University BSC
Information Pack and conduct my research in accordance to its guidelines. I also discussed some of
the information sources and data collection methods in that meeting.
I was impatient about the research approach and design, so I asked my mentor several questions,
which helped me to understand the requirements. The CSR and ethics models studied in P1 and
P3 were also discussed as these were to be used for the evaluation of company s policies. I also
took notes in the meeting so that I do not forget important details later.

  • 2. Pete Rose in the Hall of Fame Essay Pete Rose in the Hall of Fame To some, including myself, baseball is the greatest sport that has ever been played. It is a game played by two opposing teams made of multiple players, but only nine players per team play at the same time. To be part of one of the thirty teams that get to play professional baseball, a player has to play the game extremely well (www.baseballhalloffame.com). When a player plays the game better than most have played he gets rewarded, usually with lots of money in a big contract. Then there are those rare players, the 244 elite players of the game that have already been inducted into the Hall of Fame. Being inducted in the Hall of Fame is the utmost of baseball fame. The players listed are remembered forever. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He did not report cash money he accepted for signing baseballs and photographs at baseball card shows (Reston 1997). It is still to this day not proven that Rose did bet on the baseball team that he was managing. Rose himself still holds true to his statement that he never bet on the game of baseball. Evidence is minimal and it has been over ten years, yet he is still ineligible to be voted into the Hall of Fame. If it was left up to his statistics, he should have been inducted years ago. There are a handful of the 244 elites that are in the Hall of Fame that did far worse things than gamble on the game of baseball or evade paying their taxes. For instance, the beloved Ty Cobb was a horrible racist and once admitted killing a man. One day while walking in Detroit, he stepped in freshly poured asphalt. Then a construction worker, named Fred Collins, who just happened to be black, yelled at him. Cobb responded by slapping Collins to the ground. Cobb was found guilty by the courts, and received a suspended sentence. Collins filed a civil suit, but settled out of court for $75. Ty Cobb had to deal with the law in one form or another many different times for striking black men (www.totalbaseball.com). The powers that run the baseball organization seem to turn their eyes, quite conveniently, away from any number of wife beaters, and drug addict s everyday. They let known, proven criminals ... To complete the first objective doctors will be interviewed in order to assess how they justify using therapeutic privilege and what influence their medical experience has. In terms of the second objective previous patients will be surveyed on their opinions of not giving fully informed consent and what effect they would expect to experience if the therapeutic privilege was used. Investigative interviews I propose to interview eight doctors to obtain their personal opinions on therapeutic privilege. In addition to what arguments they feel they would employ to justify the use of such. This will be dependant on doctors willingness to participate. Encouraging doctors to get involved will be difficult. There may be a need for a gatekeeper. Before getting doctors involved, specific permission will be required. In Scotland, any NHS research must be approved by the Research Scotland Permissions Coordinating Centre. This body will also hopefully aid me in getting in contact with doctors. Before conducting such interviews ethical clearance will be sought. In these interviews, I aim to include doctors from both genders, with a range of ages and ranges of professional experience. This will maintain fairness and show if there are any differences between justifications depending on their previous medical experience. • 7. Roethke s Smart Balance of Joy, Fear and Tension in His... Inevitability at one point in most of our lives we have to deal with some type of hardship. A lot of us have experienced first hand or known someone who has had the unfortunate experience of dealing with a close friend or family member who becomes abusive and aggressive because of drug or alcohol related problems. My Papa s waltzis a poem that tells the story of a young boydealing with an abusive father and a broken home. Despite the initial light atmosphere of the poem Theodore Roethke uses strong and powerful language to convey an underlined meaning to their dance. My Papa s Waltz is a poem of fear, all the more horrible because the boy is terrified and hurt by his father, even in play, yet he clings and hangs to him showing how strong... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Someone has to lead in a waltz, which highlights the father s control over the small boy. It isn t because the boy is being led, but instead the way the father is leading is what makes the dance not easy. Roethke uses the verb waltz to impose a sense of joy to the poem, because on literal level the waltz should be easy and smooth, but for the boy and his father it isn t because apparently, their lives together aren t easy. Continuing the tone of the first stanza, in the second stanza of the poem the word romped makes their waltz sound carefree, but they romped until the pans/ Slid from the kitchen shelf. Lines 5 and 6 show how their waltz is causing a violent disruption in their home that even the boys mother could not tolerate. Again with something that sounds as care free as dancing with your father Roethke implies an undertone of disturbance and violence that is inevitably taking a toll on their family and home life. Likewise in the third stanza the speaker mentions that the hand that held his wrist was battered on one knuckle. Undoubtedly, a hand holding a wrist is more aggressive and dominant than just a hand holding a hand like in a typical waltz, which is suppose to a smooth and easy glide. The fathers hand holding the speakers wrist shows both the difference in the size of their hands and that the speaker waltzes unwillingly. The fact that Roethke chooses the word battered ... • 8. The American Dream during the Time of the Imagist Movement I, too, dislike it. Reading it, however, with a perfect contempt for it, one discovers in it, after all, a place for the genuine (Twentieth Cenutry 231). The time of the imagists was a time of change. Sometimes that change was and other times it wasn t so good. They fought for freedom, refering to African Americans and the fight for civil rights. They changed the rules on how to write. They even made such a lasting impression that the way of writing continued past the time period and changed into a style of writing to last the years. Although it was said to be created by one man, the idea actually came from another who had brought the idea up before its time. It eventually reversed the fact that it came about before it was ready and ended up lasting long after the era was declared over. Since the literature was changing so was the mind set and it was directly related. This is where the American Dream comes into play. The American Dream during the time of the Imagist Movement could be represented by the way of life in that the people of the time were changing, not only in their writing, but with how they were living in that they would fight for equality or be more focused on what was real, and that sense of changing was solidified in the American Dream. The change during the Imagist Movement was due to the new outlook on writing and how the literature was changing. This movement spurred from the use of symbolism in the early twentieth century. The Construction Of Red Black Trees 1 Introduction In recent years, much research has been devoted to the construction of red black trees; nevertheless, few have refined the confusing unification of Internet QoS and active networks [3,13,23,18,8]. The impact on random robotics of this has been adamantly opposed. An essential problem in hardware and architecture is the synthesis of checksums. To what extent can hash tables be developed to address this question? Statisticians never enable the Turing machine in the place of robots. Such a hypothesis is mostly a confirmed aim but fell in line with our expectations. Indeed, Web services [22] and public private key pairs have a long history of interacting in this manner. Indeed, operating systems [30] and RAID have a long history of interacting in this manner [35,22,19,33]. The basic tenet of this method is the visualization of hierarchical databases. Another essential riddle in this area is the emulation of cache coherence. It should be noted that LactylMuset locates local area networks. However, large scale configurations might not be the panacea that systems engineers expected. Even though similar approaches improve the memory bus, we achieve this goal without harnessing the compelling unification of operating systems and context free grammar. Despite coming from seemingly opposing worlds, the subtle transition establishes the interconnectedness between the two characters almost as if though they are one person or entity. A second significant transition occurs when Peter Walsh, a former love of Clarissa s, pays an unexpected visit to Clarissa the same morning. Dutch Leonard, Kennedy School of Government As Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, and Wilma successively lashed the gulf coast starting in late August 2005, nature s fury exposed serious weaknesses in the United States emergency response capabilities. Not all emergencies pose this magnitude of challenge. In the United States, the initial and usually major responsibility for disaster response rests with local authorities. This bottom up system of emergency management has a long history and continues to make sense in most circumstances. Core Challenges for Large Scale Disaster ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Katrina was a crisis primarily because of its scale and the mixture of challenges that it posed, not least the failure of the levees in New Orleans. Because of the novelty of a crisis, predetermined emergency plans and response behavior that may function quite well in dealing with routine emergencies are frequently grossly inadequate or even counterproductive. That proved true in New Orleans, for example, in terms of evacuation planning, law enforcement, rescue activities, sheltering, and provisions for the elderly and inп¬Ѓrm. evacuation, making emergency repairs to the levees, and providing food and law and order in an unprepared shelter). These measures, born of necessity, may be quite different from or exceed in scale anything responders have done before. They must be creative and extremely adaptable to execute improvised tactics. Equipping organizations to recognize the novelty in a crisis and improvise skillfully is thus a far different (and far more difп¬Ѓcult) matter from preparing mainly to implement preset emergency plans. Scalability and Surge Capacity In many disasters, as Katrina well illustrated, responders must cope with far greater numbers of endangered people or more extensive damage than usual. To scale up operations to handle this surge of demand, emergency agencies require access to resources in larger quantities than normal and frequently to specialized equipment or ... Women s rights movements in the United States date back to 1848 at the Seneca Falls Convention, but were greatly ignored after women were granted the right to vote in 1920 by the nineteenth amendment. Many reasons contributed to the reemergence of women s movements but the most prevalent is the end of World War II in 1945. During World War II, more than three million women of all classes of society voluntarily exchanged their aprons and jobs as a house wives and took up real tools in factories. They were really welfare benefits paid by someone else, in this case the working population. Some member of the Congress was so angry with me that he urged my impeachment. I was very relaxed. The odds were that, if the issue ever did reach the president, he would just have a good laugh. Of course, the threat of my impeachment quickly evaporated. Lesson 5: Use Humor to Good Effect. Yes, Ronald Reagan loved to tell funny stories. One of his favorite ones concerned the boy who was digging through a manure pile. His explanation for that strange action was that there had to be a pony in it somewhere. But usually the president s purpose for telling a humorous tale was very serious. He was always too polite to tell some boring person to shut up. Rather, he preferred to interrupt by telling a story. When he finished, the discussion would quickly shift to a new subject. On other occasions, when the internal debate was in danger of getting too strident, he would break the tension by telling another funny story. He possessed a deep inventory of humor, much of which drew upon his authentic Irish brogue as well as a fine Italian accent. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There were numerous factors brought up, questioning whether or not the New Deal was in fact beneficial for the whole of America. On the contrary, I will be arguing that it was, in many ways, helpful for their economy of the US, due to the benefits regarding human rights, standard of living, and the citizen s overall happiness. One of the many factors in which the New Deal was seen as beneficial would definitely be the recognition of various human rights, including rights for Women, Blacks and Native Indians, as well as workers in Trade Unions.
