Essay Of Water Pollution
Crafting an essay on the subject of water pollution presents a unique set of challenges that
demand both extensive research and thoughtful analysis. This topic requires a comprehensive
understanding of environmental science, chemistry, and the socio-economic factors contributing
to water contamination. The complexity of the issue adds an extra layer of difficulty to the
writing process.
To begin with, delving into the scientific aspects of water pollution necessitates a grasp of
various pollutants, their sources, and the ways they interact with aquatic ecosystems. This entails
sifting through a myriad of technical data, studies, and reports to form a solid foundation for the
essay. Moreover, the dynamic nature of the problem requires staying abreast of current research
findings and ongoing environmental developments.
Beyond the scientific dimension, addressing the socio-economic factors contributing to water
pollution demands a nuanced examination of human behaviors, industrial practices, and
governmental policies. This involves navigating through a complex web of societal dynamics,
economic interests, and regulatory frameworks, all of which play pivotal roles in shaping the
state of water bodies.
The writing process also requires a delicate balance between presenting facts and engaging the
reader with a compelling narrative. Striking this equilibrium can be challenging, especially when
dealing with technical details that might overwhelm the audience. Moreover, weaving together a
coherent and persuasive argument demands a meticulous organization of ideas, requiring a keen
eye for logical progression and clarity in expression.
In conclusion, composing an essay on water pollution is a demanding task that necessitates a
deep understanding of scientific principles, socio-economic intricacies, and effective
communication skills. The synthesis of these elements is crucial for creating a well-rounded and
impactful piece of writing that not only informs but also inspires action. For those seeking

Yeast, also known as a saccharomyces cerevisiae, is single celled eukaryotic cells

Intro and Appreciation of Music
30 March 2017
Concert Report On Tuesday, March 28th, 2017 at 8:00 P.M., The Emerson String
Quartet performed three pieces of classical music at the Segerstrom Center for the
Arts in Costa Mesa, California. The Emerson string Quartet is a professional string
ensemble that performs classical music and consists of four adult males; Eugene
Drucker on the violin, Philip Setzer on the violin, Lawrence Dutton on the viola, and
Paul Walkins on the cello. The Concert opened with String Quartet in F Major by
Maurice Ravel. The piece was divided into four movements. The first Movement,
Allegro moderato TrГЁs doux, sets the tone for the entire piece. It opens in a warm,
inviting tone played by all members of the quartet. Then, it immediately leads into
somewhat of an exciting climax, with the first violin taking control and the other
three instruments playing similar harmonies, but quickly the music quiets. This same,
quick intensity transforming to a slower, quiet melody is continuously repeated
throughout the entire first movement. The second theme presented in the opening ...

Having never attended any classical music concerts before, I had no idea what to
expect. While I was most likely the youngest person there, and most certainly
unfamiliar of concert etiquette, I thoroughly enjoyed this experience. While the
Emerson String Quartet played three different pieces and all of them were
incredible, I chose to focus my report only on the first piece, String Quartet in F
Major , and its different movements. I found this piece to be the best piece of the
night, possibly because of its continually changing sounds and powerful climaxes, or
possibly because it was the first time I had experienced a quartet live. Either way, I
loved this piece and the way every movement was unique, but united by repeating the
same themes from the first

The Edible Woman By Margaret Atwood
The edible woman
Introduction
The edible woman by Margaret Atwood was first published in 1969. The novel talks
about women and the way they relate to men, food, and the society. Through food
and eating, Atwood is able to the rebellion of a young woman against the male
dominated modern society. The story is about a young woman, the protagonist of the
novel named Marian McAlpin and her struggles between the roles imposed on her
by society and her individuality and personal self definition. Through food, her
struggles, and her eventual rebellion are symbolized. Atwood has used her
protagonist for the creation of situations where women are overburdened with
inequalities and rules of the society. She tries to recreate a braver and self reliant ...

She goes deeper into the hearts of the things that relate to women and their lives.
The author is indeed well aware of all the implications of female roles in society.
Marian is undergoing a phase where she is struggling with the role the society
imposes on her and that which she wants for herself. In the novel and her
development of a phobia for some food, types have been used to demonstrate this.
Through the acquisition of some attitude for food, her powerlessness in this
situation is revealed. She is protesting against capitalism, and this leads her to stop
eating because she lacks autonomy and control. Her social pressure thus comes out
through her eating disorder. This shows a positive correlation between eating
disorders and the social pressures people face. Her eating disorder is like a protest
and a revolt because of her rebellion against the male dominated society that she lives
in.
Marian s interpretation of the world is terms of food and uses it to negotiate her way
through life. Towards the end of the novel, she manages to construct the new concept
of self/persona by renewing her relationship with food. The author has used food as a
metaphor, and it has appeared in the novel. By writing about Marian s eating habits,
Atwood has tried to expose the differences that exist between cultural roles and those
that have been constructed through the experienced realities. At the beginning of the
novel,
Procrastination Essay
1. nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; What am I talking about? I am the thief of
productiveness and time. I sound simple, but in fact I m quite complex. I am a
strange phenomenon. My purpose seems to make my life more pleasant, but
instead it almost always adds stress, disorganization, and frequent failure. I want to
achieve some outcome, usually something myself and others can value and
respect; I ve got to start. I delay briefly thinking of real and imagined advantages of
starting to change later; I will do it tomorrow. 2. nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;

Your environment is distracting and noisy. You keep running back and forth for
equipment such as pencils, erasers, dictionaries, and etc. Your desk is cluttered and
unorganized and sometimes you even sit or lay on your bed to study or do your
assignments. All of these examples that you just heard promote time wasting and
frustration which prohibits you from staying concentrated. 5. nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;
nbsp; nbsp; Though I ve only touched on a couple, there are many more reasons for
procrastinating such as fear of anxiety or failure and even personnel or financial
problems. So, you might be asking, how do I know if I m a procrastinator or not?
Well, this brings me to my second point, symptoms of procrastination. One of the
worst aspects of procrastination is postponement. When one is postponing an
important task, it becomes very difficult to enjoy recreational activities. One is
socializing with friends or watching a film, and there is this nagging thought, quot;I
should be working. quot; A dark cloud of guilt hangs over your head and dampens
any pleasure you might be extracting from the distractions of the moment. So, by not
getting things done in a reasonably and timely manner, or not done at all, precious
opportunities have been lost. 6. nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; Another symptom of
procrastination is stress. What this is, is the way you react physically, mentally, and
emotionally to the various conditions, changes, and demands in

An analysis of the film Super Size Me, which is a 2004 documentary over Morgan
Spurlock who documents the obesity problem we have in this country and how
McDonald s and other fast food chains are the ones that mainly contribute to the
increasing problem, and exploring the realist aesthetics of the film goes over the
elements of direct address to the camera, handheld camera, on camera interview and
also real people (non actors). This documentary was made to study the influence that
the fast food industry, such as McDonald s, Wendy s, KFC and others have over the
obesity problem in America. Morgan Spurlock makes himself a guinea pig and
explores the consequences to his body when only eating McDonald s three times a
day for one whole month and he can only super size it if the cashier asks him.
Spurlock consults with a practitioner, cardiologist, gastroenterologist, nutritionist, and
trainers to help and track the change in his body during the whole experiment. With
this documentary, Spurlock brings out the truth about eating fast food and the
harmful things and changes it does to the human body. Direct address to the camera,

In documentaries, the people that are interviewed are specialists in their field and
the reason why they were chosen to be interviewed is because they provide factual
evidence that helps and supports the purpose of the film. They bring to the table their

bringing the truth to light. Not only do the interviewees bring facts and information
they also put their two cents in and voice their concerns over the issue, which in this
case is the extraordinary increase of obese people in this country. Just like the other
elements, on camera interviews help brings the truth to light and also reality of the
Nurse Justin s Role In The Healthcare Delivery System
Nurse Manager Nurse Managers have an important role in healthcare delivery
system. They are responsible for managing the staff nurses, overseeing patient care
and making sure quality care is delivered at lowest possible cost. The effective
management of nursing resources is essential (Chitty Black, 2007, p.363). There are
budgets established by the companies, as a nursemanager you have to ensure the
department has all available nursing resources and remains within the budget limit.
Following this concept will help prevent the issue of cost contamination. The model
nurse manager I choose to interview is Nurse Justin. I will describe Justin s role in
the healthcare system, including his responsibilities and roles with accountability. I
will also discuss Nurse Justin opinion regarding nurse cost contamination. Nurse
Managers are the frontline of the healthcare delivery system, while making sure the
company mission concerning finance is accomplished.
Role in Healthcare System The broadening of the span of control has changed the
nurse manager s role from planning, organizing, controlling, and motivating to setting
goals, creating a vision, empowering staff, managing change, and building a team
(Counsell, Gilbert, McCain, 2001, p. 54). Nurse Justin developed these necessary
skills and incorporates them into his job function as a nurse manager. He has to set
realistic goals for his unit to accomplish. For example, Justin reports the company

The Security And Exchange Commission
The Security and Exchange Commission Introduction The U.S. Securities and
Exchange Commission s essential obligation is to ensure protection for investors and
keep up the quality of the securities markets. The laws and standards that administer
the securities business in the United States get a basic idea: all investors, whether
vast organizations or private people, have to have admitted to certain essential facts
around a venture before getting it. The Security and Exchange Commission requires
open organizations to unveil significant money related and other data to people in
general. The Security and Exchange Commission likewise regulates stock trades,
brokers, financial advisors, shared assets, and open utility holding organizations.
Their essential worry here is promoting exposure of sensitive data, authorizing the
securities laws, and ensuring financial specialists. The viability of the Security and
Exchange Commission pivots upon its implementation power. Every year the SEC
brings between 400 500 common authorization activities against people and
organizations that infringe upon the securities laws. A portion of the common
infractions incorporates insider exchanging, bookkeeping misrepresentation, and
giving false or misdirecting data about securities and the organizations that issue
them. Creation They set up the Security and Exchange Commission in 1934. Its
motivation was to apply the recently passed securities laws, to advance dependability
in the business sectors
Negative Effects Of Media On Women
1.0 Introduction
According to a report published by the United States Census Bureau, American
spends about 3952 hours on a yearly basis on using media with approximately 1704
hours being used up watching television (Kaus and Thapar 2014). These numbers are
equivalent to watching the television for more than two months and five months on
other forms of media. In addition to this, more than 70% of women have also
dominated all forms of media particularly the social networks (Kaus and Thapar
2014). Therefore, it is outright reasonable to state that what we spend our time on
has a direct impact on our lives. This premise has been the emphasis of many
research studies. Most of these research reports have specifically looked at the
elements portrayed by media and their effect on our perception of ourselves.
Furthermore, body satisfaction and self esteem have been negatively affected
particularly by media. Therefore, it is critical to understand the role of media and
how it affects the well being of women (Kaus and Thapar 2014). Once we understand
the role media plays in the lives of women, we can begin to understand how to reduce
its negative effects. In the subsequent literature review, different research studies that
demystify the effects of media on women have been explored. Firstly, the studies that
focus on the general effect of media and its influence on women have been examined.
Additionally, globalization of sociocultural values is also described and the studies

Abstract Art And Its Effects On Educating Students And...
Abstract art is defined as art that does not attempt to represent external reality, but
seeks to achieve its effect using shapes, forms, colors, and textures.
Due to this, it has a higher potential for variation within color schemes and materials.
Said potential makes art not only valuable but ultimately unique no matter what piece
you look at. By addressing this in conjunction with obtaining Teapot by Waldemar
Kolbusz, DePauw University would be showing how much it prides itself on
educating its students and administration through the implementation of art.
Waldemar Kolbusz, thoughtfully dubbed Design Aficionado by his peers and
admirers, identifies as an Australian, mostly self taught artist born in 1969. While he
went through formal schooling and training as an accountant, he began his full time
career as an artist in 2000 at thirty one years old. By using oil, wax, and stained
canvases, he focuses mainly in abstract paintings in solo and group exhibits that show
emphasis on color and shape. Within these subcategories, Kolbusz deems his work as
expressionistic and works to show contrast within hue and the movement within
shape to evoke emotion and reactions from viewers. While his pieces remain defined
as abstract, he focuses on lifelike shapes and movements within his paintings by
creating intense, organic shapes. Throughout the years of his experience, Kolbusz has
found that by using wax in conjunction with the oil paints, he has created a style
within abstract
Binge Eating in Non-Western Cultures
Literature regarding eating disorders in non Western cultures in general is scarce.
Very few studies address disordered eating in cultures outside of the Western and
Westernized world. This could be because of the perceived lack of eating disorders in
non industrialized countries or even because there is an overwhelming amount of
concern over eating disorders in Western society. However, there have been several
studies done on binge eating and dietary restraint in non western citizens and in non
Caucasian women in the United States. Women who are not from a Caucasian
background face different societal and traditional pressures than do Caucasian women
in Western cultures, but some of the women in those cultures were found to have
binge... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A major way in which they express this negative self perception is to restrain their
diets or binge eat (Eating Disorders Review, 2007, 5). Many cultures idealize robust
women and practice feasting as a common social practice. However, women feel
pressured by the stick thin images they see on Western influenced television
advertisements to lose weight or look more conventionally attractive by Western
standards. They feel torn between participating in their traditional custom and looking
like the women they see idealized in the media. They feel guilt and embarrassment
about overeating but participate in it as part of the cultural norm. (Becker, 2003, 430)
Women who feel shame about eating are also less likely to seek help for their eating
disorders, and this shame has been found to be more prevalent in women from non
Western ethnicities living in the Western world. Women from different ethnicities
experience guilt and a fear of losing control while eating at different levels. Asian
and Native American women are the most likely to feel embarrassed about
overeating or losing control while eating (Eating Disorders Review, 2007, 5). They
are therefore the least likely to seek help for their binge eating disorders. Healthcare
providers should take ethnicity into account when determining causal factors of binge
eating in women from Asian and Native American cultures because they are more
Absolutism In The 17th Century
Absolute monarchy is the notion that the monarch rules will unlimited power, only
omitted by divine law or natural law. During the seventeenth century, absolutism was
ineffective in England, while it flourished in France. Comparatively, causes of its
decline in England were similar to those of its former rise in France. These being;
raging war(s), nobility power, religious tensions, and need for money. Whereas, the
two countries were also different in respect of how each country s monarch went
about their divine right. As the sources of absolutisms increase or decrease were
analogous, how the French and English monarchies controlled war, money, religion,
and other political authority, caused that increase of decrease The rise of absolutism in

In both instances, war set up absolute monarchy for success, or failure. Since Henry
IV promised to feed everyone, I want there to be no peasant in my realm so poor
that he will not have a chicken in his pot every Sunday, many subjects were willing
to let him have absolute rule in order to make their society better. Also, as an
absolute monarch he was capable of lowering peasant taxes, all while increasing
revenues. Whereas, the English absolute monarchy was greedy, Charles II wanted
more sufficient revenue to satisfy himself. This lead to a secret agreement
converting Charles II to Roman Catholic. When his people heard of this, anti
Catholic fear spread across England. Reaching its pinnacle point when James II
succeeded his brother as a Roman Catholic. Unrelenting religious turmoil, created by
the financial greed of the English monarch, lead absolutism to fail in England.
However, by issuing the Edict of Nantes, Henry IV of France eased religious tension
between Catholics and Calvinists. Consequently, the French people saw the absolute
monarch as an intelligent king whom improved their society. Lastly, the power of the
Parliament and nobility effected the rise of and fall

story is about a mid aged girl named Nina, who is a ballerina trying out for a swan
queen part, in the play, swan lake. It s complicated because she is a goody two

much for her and she begins to lose touch with reality, not sure what she seeing in
front of her is real or not. The scene I am analyzing is the final performance scene.
In this scene, Nina finally becomes the black swan by killing herself, making herself

The lighting on the stage is set up the way it is to make it seem like we are in the
theater watching the performance, yet we see through Nina s eyes as she takes her
last glimpse at her successful performance. The lighting reminds me of a spotlight.
The whole stage is lit up and beautiful, while the crowd is dark. The light moves from
the performers, then to Nina as she moves upstage to the sun because she is the
center of attention in this scene as her and her character she plays dies. As she falls,

A Distinct Fascination With Exorcisms
In modern culture there is a distinct fascination with exorcisms. It is the focus of
many movies and T.V.programs, however exorcism and possession are topics that
should not be used for the purpose of entertainment. Exorcism is the healing rite
through which a person is released from the clutches of an impure spirit. Through the
Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke, the Church finds the origin of this sacred rite.
These three gospels hold a plethora of information about exorcismand possession in
both individual accounts and logically stringing together information. For example,
different demons have different names. Although this is not specifically stated, one
can observe Christ s accounts with demons, such as Beelzebub, Legion, and Satan,...

In granting them that authority, Jesus gave them dominion over demons through
himself. An authority that had not been granted to any other people, which makes
the rite of exorcism possible. In Luke 10:17 20, the seventy men Jesus had sent out
with authority over demons came back amazed that the demons fell subject to them
in the power of Jesus name. This authority is powerful which is why it was given
to few selected by Jesus. Bishops today, as apostolic successors, retain this authority
granted by the apostles and can delegate that authority to a priest he appoints as an
exorcist. The most detailed account of the Geresene demoniac can be found in Mark
5: 1 20. The story begins with Jesus coming to the shore of the country of the
Geresenes and upon leaving the boat a man with an unclean spirit came out of the
tombs and worshipped him, but then the man (under the influence of Legion) begged
Jesus not to torment him. The Geresene people feared this man and attempted to hold
him with chains and shackles, however, the demoniac s strength surpassed the chains
and no one could hold him back. It is also recorded that he bruised himself and cried
out day and night. Jesus commanded the demon to leave the man,but when he did not
Jesus asked his name. The demon replied Legion, for we

Jim Crow Laws Vs Apartheid
As a result of the government mandated segregation, resistance in both the United
States and South Africa escalated. In other words, the history of the African civil
rights movement taught: Nationalism has been tested in the people s struggles . . .
and found to be the only antidote against foreign rule and modern imperialism
(Mandela, Long Walk to Freedom 2008, 156). By comparing and contrasting the
Jim Crow Laws and apartheid, we are able convey that nationalism ultimately lead to
activism and reform. In both countries, the schism between Africans and their
government worsened. To illustrate: [The Emancipation Proclamation] ended
[slavery] . . . , but blacks . . . had more in common with African American slaves . . .
than with the [Caucasian businessmen] (Bausum 2012, 19). For instance, Congress
passed the discriminatory Jim Crow Laws in order to establish a hierarchy based on
the plantation mentality (Bausum 2012, 14). For South Africans, the National Party
(the Nats) in 1948, made apartheid the official law. Both forms of segregation
continued the cycle of poverty for coloured people and ensured [that Caucasians had
better quality education], hospitals, and other public services (Rose 2011, 12). For
example, African American garbage men s insufficient salary was based on their
garbage routes rather than an hourly wage (Bausum 2012, 14). Similarly, black South
African staff received inadequate pay and the law outlawed strikes and the formation
of unions.
Benefits And Benefits Of A Lunch Hours
Lunch hours are the times that the bank is busiest the most. The customers want to
be sure that they can be taken care of in a minimal amount of time and still have
time left on their lunch hour. Since most customers come during this time, the wait

the customer may not need to take a half day to complete an account, but the

customer inconvenience and customer information is compromised. The customer
may be inconvenienced if the signature did not register properly in the system; the
customer may need to come back into the branch to complete another signature card.
In addition, there is so much personal information on this signature card that it would
be detrimental to the bank and to the customer if this information had been retrieved
by someone else. Electronic signatures could be a remedy for all these issues. If the
customer signs a signature pad, there is no information being left on a paper that can
potentially get lost. Also, the signature would already be on file before the customer
leaves the branch so there would never be a need for the customer to return to the
branch to re sign a document.
POTENTIAL DRAWBACKS
Throughout the proposal, much information has been given to explain the benefits of
implementing a paperless environment at Capital One bank. There are also some
drawbacks that should be taken into consideration when deciding whether or not to
implement this paperless environment. Table 3 below shows the benefits and
potential drawbacks of integrating a paperless environment in the banking branch
Georg Ferdinand, Philipp Cantor
Georg Ferdinand Ludwig Philipp Cantor was born on March 3, 1845 in Saint
Petersburg, Russia. His father, Georg Waldemar Cantor, was a successful
merchant working as a wholesaling agent, then later found another job as a broker
in the St. Petersburg Stock Exchange. Georg s father was born in Denmark and had
a deep passion for culture and arts. His mother, Maria Anna Böhm, was from
Russia and very musical. Georg inherited his love for music and arts from his
parents, considering he was a wonderful violinist. Georg was brought up as
Protestant, which was his father s religion, but his mother was a Roman Catholic.
Georg had a private tutor for a while until he attended a primary school in St.
Petersburg. In 1856, his family moved to Germany because of his father s poor
health to stay away from Russia s rough winters and to find warmer weather. Georg
was never happy with the move but made the most out of it. They first moved to
Wiesbaden, Germany than later moved to Frankfurt, where Georg studied at the
Realschule in Darmstadt. In 1860, Georg graduated with a distinction from
Realschule as an outstanding student in mathematics, especially trigonometry. In
1862, Georg asked his father for permission to study mathematics and was thrilled
when his father consented and entered University of ZГјrich, but that was all cut

How Did Christians Justify Their Claim to the Holy Land B
Final Paper
How did Christians justify their claim to the
Holy Land before and during the Crusades?
One of the most significant and remarkable incidents of the Middle Ages was the
series of conflicts known collectively as the Crusades. Generally these conflicts were
militant pilgrimages to the Levant (though sometimes elsewhere) undertaken by
medieval Europeans in the name of Christendom. Though there were many political
and social issues involved in the whole affair, the primary theme, however
superficial, was religious. The adversaries in these wars were non Christians, namely
Muslims, who were widely seen as the oppressors of Eastern Christians. Those
engaged in the Crusades, especially the authorities preaching and ... Show more

Robert of Rheims was a monk living in France during the time of the First Crusade.
His chronicle of the conflict, written around 1107, is one of the most widely
studied sources of Crusading history. For accounts of the actual battles he used
other contemporaneous sources, such as the Gesta Francorum, but he claims to
have actually been present at the Council of Clermont. He gives a very detailed
description of that event, and attributes a very extravagant, oratorical speech to
Pope Urban II. Robert s account was likely commissioned (by the abbot of his
monastery) as a response to some level of discontent with the existing chronicles of
the First Crusade. It may also have served as an attempt to encourage another
expedition to the Holy Land, as it plainly glorifies the First Crusade and
emphasizes its more romantic elements. Since Robert is clearly supportive of
Crusading, one must be wary of the bias in his account. His possible agenda of
preaching another Crusade may very well compromise his account s reliability in
certain respects. In short, Robert s role as an eyewitness at Clermont certainly lends
him credibility, but it does not imply that his chronicle is devoid of embellishments
or propagandistic aspects. La Chanson d Antioche, or the Song of Antioch, is an epic
poem dating from the late 12th century whose central subject is the Siege of Antioch.

Thesis: James pursuit for absolute power gave him his success in Scotland but when
he arrived in England he failed in his fight against the parliament since they weren t

Advantages And Growth Of The Caste System In India
1.Caste system:
Caste system is a system of defining class or assigning status to individuals from
the time of birth. In India, the caste system is mainly profession based. India has

were different types of jobs in the society which were done by the people based on
their capability. This division of job based on specialization resulted into caste system

Pros And Cons Of Dog Parks
The lack of off leash styled dog parks across the United States of America have
brought much debate and unrest within communities. Cities and neighborhoods that
do not provide these types of dog parks make it difficult for pet owners to provide
exercise, social activities, and a place where dog and dogowners grow and learn
together. Park and recreationadvocates question the public advocacy on the assets and
location in construction for the dog park. Other locals are against the idea of off
leash style dog parks due to their concerns about safety and other potentially
problematic issues. Ed Fowley a reporter and dog owner from Los Angeles states,
...They don t know how strong the pack instincts are in their family pets. These
drives can and often do click into high gear when a dog is taken into a park with
strange dogs. (Fowley). Dog parks can vary from different shapes and sizes
however, the certain type of dog parks pertaining to this problem are those in
which dog owners are legally able to allow their dogs to roam unbound by leashes
or constrictions regulated by city and state. The park and recreation advocates of
communities who have few or little to none, off leash dog parks are struggled to
balance the fine line that crosses the accounts and finances of production all the
while, fight fear that it may create more issues. Families that use off leash dog
parks are able to thoroughly help and develop their dogs for a better life. Off leash
dog parks allow both pets and owners to learn and grow through exercising and
socializing without constant worry of infringing someone else rights. It benefits dogs
as they are given adequate space to run and use as an outlet meanwhile, recognizing
certain behaviors of more respectable and mature pets through socializing. Properly
exercising dogs allow them to relieve tension and unbend; this potentially changes
them from being noisy and irritable into more quite and friendlier animals. There
have been numerous accounts within my neighborhood where the local residents
have filed noise complaints on local dog owners. In the recent study, On the Fence:

In 1910, the Capone family saves up enough money to move to 21 Garfield Place,
Park Slope, which was a much better environment. Although the Capone family
moved to a better side of town, the hardships continued. Capone helped to support

while maintaining a membership in the local Five Points Gang. Eventually Al
Capone, whilst working for the Five Points Gang, grabs the attention of the

Conformity In Social Psychology
Scientific studies have consistently shown that people are influenced in their decision
making processes according to social psychology. For example, a psychologist
named Stanley Milgram conducted a study to test the affects of obedience to
authority. He selected a group of male volunteers and told them that they were
randomly selected to be teachers and learners, though every volunteer in the study
was given the role of the teacher. The volunteers were instructed to teach the learners
a series of words under supervision of an experimenter and give them a shock
whenever they failed. The shocks were gradually increased until the learners began to
exhibit signs of fear and pain this is when the experimenter would tell the volunteers
to continue with the experiment despite the obvious discomfort that both the teacher
and learner were experiencing. 65% of the volunteers continued with the experiment
until a fatal shock was given due to the social influence of the experimenter! This
study proved that an individual s obedience to authority can directly bypass their
morals and consequently affect their behavior. Another scientific study conducted by
Solomon Asch proved the existence of conformity in social psychology. In his study,

that is known for its growth and expanse in the artistic explosion that happened in
Harlem between the end of World War I and the middle of the 1930s. During this
period Harlem was a cultural center, drawing black writers, artists, poets, and
educated people. Many had come from the South, running away from its terrible
mistreatment and social class system in order to find a place where they could
freely express their talents. It involved racial pride, fueled in part by the
aggressiveness of the New Negro demanding civil and political rights. The

the word also suggests disguising oneself, or to take on a different identity. To

of race or sexuality are given in the title, it anyway suggests disguise, deceit and
change . This changing period is quite possibly the process that Nella Larsen is

Definition Of Heroes
Heroes At the beginning of last week I was asked the question What is a hero?
Without a hesitation I answered someone with powers who puts their powers to
work when someone is in need of a hand. As the week continued I started to read
poems, texts, and look in the perspectives of others towards heroes. I became more
open minded and generated a new outlook on heroes. A herodoesn t have to be
someone with powers, capes, and enemies that they have to battle with. A hero can
also be a person who risks their life for the better of someone else s life. Included in
this hero comes courage, bravery, strong minded, and many other characteristics.

One of the texts that I read was from this book that my school provides to all the
students, springboard. In this book there was a passage that was called A Man.
Although I read many texts this one captured my eye most. A man starts off with a
sad tone. It talks about how while fighting for his country, he lost an arm and was
suddenly afraid. After continuing to read the poem the tone of the narrator begins
to become more positive. He ends off the poem by saying From that moment on,
he set himself to do everything with twice as much enthusiasm. And where the arm
had been torn away a wing grew. This poem was heroic because from the start it
talks about him being a soldier. Soldiers are heroes, each and every one of them.
Not many people have the courage to put their life on the line for our country. The
reason why I feel protected and safe is because of these soldiers. I have the
freedom to speak, think, and act how I want because of these heroes. But, not only
that, he is someone to look up to for not taking his disability and letting himself
down. Instead, he took it and learned how to live with it. I am almost positive that
most people I know would use their disability as an excuse. Not only that but they
would dwell on it for the rest of their lives. This man knew he had either his life or
one of his features/body parts on the line when he agreed to be a soldier. He

Essay On Chronic Pain
Introduction Chronic pain is one of the most frequent diagnosis and the most
common problem for which elderly patients in the clinical setting seek help. Chronic
pain refers to an unpleasant, distressful and uncomfortable feeling. Studies have
shown that chronic pain is often undertreated even when the prevalence rates and
syndromes are well understood. The means of relief are within practitioners
capabilities to provide care. With careful assessment and a comprehensive plan of

Scientists have found that repeated pain from an acute injury changes the way the
brain lets you know you have pain. Even after the injury has healed pain messages
replay over and over again. However, with the implementation of the concept of
chronic pain, elderly patients can remain active and productive if their pain is
adequately relieved. As nurses caring for our elderly patients can help advocate for
better pain relief when we encounter patients who are not appropriately receiving
treatment for their chronic pain. As healthcare providers, we can effectively provide
pain control by careful prescription, frequent re evaluation and combining treatments
to achieve better pain control.
Types of Pain Pain can usually be defined as nociceptive or neuropathic. It is
important to differentiate among different types of pain because the type of treatment
is largely dictated by the pain mechanism and its original source. In some conditions,
pain appears to be caused by complex mix of nociceptive and neuropathic factors. In
these cases, an initial nervous system dysfunction or injury trigger the neural release
of inflammatory mediators and subsequent neurogenic inflammation migraine
headaches, for example, are most likely a mix of neuropathic and nociceptive pain.

The Overlooked Gift of Knowledge
In 399 BCE, one of the wisest men in history was put to death. This man was not only
extremely wise, but also highly influential. He was a leader of the highest caliber.
This is Socrates, arguably one of the most prominent men in philosophical history.
Socrates is a figure of evolution, when referring to the way people think. He was
sentenced to death by the Athenians for corrupting the youth, not believing in the
gods recognized by the state, and for introducing supernatural beings. The Athenians
were unjust in in their conviction and condemnation to death of Socratesbecause he

The first and most important thing that Socrates encouraged was to recognize your
own ignorance. The principal lesson of the oracle story, according to Socrates, is
that he is the wisest of men because only he recognizes the extent of his own
ignorance (Brickhouse 100). Socrates constantly expressed the importance of
recognizing your own ignorance, in order to abolish ignorance within yourself. In
addition to this, Socrates tried to open peoples eyes to their own ignorance, and to
think with a more open mind. In the seminar reading package it says: He (Socrates)
describes himself as the gadfly of the state seeking to sting men into mental activity
by opening their eyes to their own ignorance and thereby promoting wisdom and truth
and the greatest improvement of the soul (Jowett 247). All Socrates wanted to do
here is to have the people recognize their ignorance, so they could learn from it and
become smarter and better human beings. The promoting wisdom and truth and the
greatest improvement of the soul part of that quotation just proves the good
intentions that Socrates had. Next, in Socrates Apology he comments on how people
are ignorant of their own knowledge on philosophers. He states people will claim
philosophers teach things up in the clouds or under the Earth, and that philosophers
do not follow the gods. With this, Socrates concludes that evil people will persuade
others about such claims, leading to more ignorance.
Owl From Winnie The Poohs Character Analysis
Many people have different characteristics and traits mine go with the ones I chose.
These three different characters have characteristics that I could relate to. The three
fictional characters that most represent my personality are Owl from Winnie The
Pooh because of his logical explanations and how he is a careful problem solver,
Johnny Test from cartoon network for his recklessness and getting into shenanigans,
and Michael Scott from The Office for his goofy behavior and jokes.
Owl from Winnie the Pooh is an owl; but we both carry the same thinking and
mindset, so one of our similarities is that we are logical thinkers and tries to look
for the best logical reason. In a particular part of an episode he is teaching a word
to his friends. They mistake the word for a sneeze, but in reality, he is just saying
the word. He was trying to explain to his friends that he did not sneeze and that he
is just saying the word. In this part, he was trying to provide his logical explanation
of what their mistake is and what he really is trying to do. This hurts the character
because he is the smarter one that understands things. In other hand he has to explain
and teach his friends the meaning of things. Owl could get frustrated for the lack of
knowledge and understanding from his friends. I have the trait of problem solving and
logical thinking when it comes to working on cars for some reason I just could
figure it out before doing the work i just try to put it together in my mind
Notes On Blaise Pascal s Theory Of The Classical Problem...
Blaise Pascal was born on June 19, 1623, in Clermont Ferrand, France to Etienne
and Antoinette Pascal. He was the only son having two sisters, Jacqueline and
Gilberte. Blaise Pascal was a person of many hats as he had different traits and
talents that he acquired. Not only was he an important mathematician, but also a
philosopher, physicist, inventor, scientist, and theological writer. Pascal made
numerous contributions to a wide variety of studies that are still appreciated today
including a powerful influence on the development of modern economics, social
science, and Pascal s Theorem. Blaise Pascal is best known for his correspondence
of 1654 with Fermat, which originated the theory of probability. He was also the
author of Traite du triangle arithmetique avec quelques autres petits traites sur
lameme matiere written in 1654. He included in his treatise separate tracts
describing the use of the Pascal s triangle in the theory of figurate numbers, the
theory of combinations, the solution of the classical problem of points in games of
chance, and the derivation of the powers of binomials. In 1631, Etienne moved his
family to Paris minus his wife Antoinette who had passed away five years prior.
Etienne would make the decision to educate his children on his own keeping his
focus particularly on Blaise who was a child prodigy, his strong subjects being
mathematics and science. At only the age of 11, Blaise produced a short proof on the
sound of vibrating bodies. Though
Kodak Black Thesis
You may know him from his Lisa Simpson haircut or his mouth full of 24 karat
gold teeth; he is the 19 year old rapper that is taking the music industry by storm. In
the past, two years his music has gained national recognition and appealed to all
types of fan bases. He is a force not to be reckoned with and his name is Kodak
Black. He is the self proclaimed Project Baby from South Florida that is giving
rapper a run for their money. Jon Caramanica, from the New York Times, described
Black as an unlikely savior for a hip hop industry that has lately been preoccupied
with melodic minded Drake clones. Instead, he s an old fashioned literalist and
represents the perennial power of grit even in a time that s squeaky clean. Kodak

Shortly after his release from his juvenile detention center, Octave made the
decision to take his music career seriously and changed his rap name to Kodak Black.
The CEO of Dollaz N Dealz, A.D. Julien, saw a star quality in Kodak Black that he
had never seen before. Kodak was wise beyond his years and had the ability to
light up a room with his presence. He decided to invest in Kodak Black s solo
career and signed him to the DND label (Johnson). From 2013 2014, Kodak Black
released two mixtapes, Project Baby and Heart of the Projects, which really started
his road to famed. It was greatly received by locals in Broward and Miami Dade. In
both mixtapes, explains Black expresses his dedication and love of the streets and
projects he grew up in. Three songs from Heart of the Projects skyrocketed and
started gaining him nationally fame. One of the songs being Skrt and Grammy
winning recording artist Drake posted a video of himself dancing to the song, which

Loss Of Happiness In The Tin Flute, By Gabrielle Roy
When people have a chance at being happy they throw everything they have into
that opportunity because they do not want it to pass by them and live the rest of
their life wondering what if. That is what Florentine was battling with in The Tin
Flute. She does not know if she should follow Jean and see the movie with him or
let him pass her by. Florentine is almost afraid to say no because she wants this
chance at happiness. In The Tin Fluteby Gabrielle Roythe reader should learn that
people can throw everything they have into a chance at happiness because they are
afraid of what may happen if they let it pass.
Florentine is torn between whether or not to go with Jean LГ©vesque and leave
her current life behind. While working at her job in a diner she is approached by a
man who wants to take her out and Florentine is not sure if she should follow him or
let him leave. After taking a rest from her job and thinking about her life and what she
might become she decides that she must immediately stake everything she has to
offer, on one wild chance of happiness. Florentine knows that what she is thinking
about doing is crazy and that most people would not follow a man they knew almost
nothing about to the movies but she wants to take that chance because ... Show more

The Possibility Of A Winter Storm In Klamath County
Winter storms are destructive and dangerous weather events which may include
snow, freezing rain, ice, high winds, and/or temperatures that drop below normal.
They have potential to cause damage, serious social disruption, or loss of human
life. The major problems that winter storms cause are power outages and traffic
accidents. There is a very high probability that Klamath County will be negatively
affected by at least one winter stormcondition on an annual basis.
Dust storms occur most frequently in arid regions of Central and Eastern Oregon.
With wind speeds of at least 25 miles per hour, dust storms can spread over hundreds
of miles and rise over 10,000 feet.
Airborne dust particles, or dust aerosols, alter the climate by intercepting
Mohandas Gandhi vs. Martin Luther King Jr.
Mohandas Gandhi vs. Martin Luther King Jr. People all over the world know that
Mohandas Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr. did great things in their life times.
But which one was more effective during his time? The answer to this question is
somewhat biased, usually depending on your race, geographical location, and if you
or someone you know has directly experienced the effects of the actions of these
men. An Indian would choose Mohandas Gandhi over Martin Luther King Jr. without
even thinking about it. African Americans are going to choose Martin Luther King
Jr. because he fought for their rights. Someone living in or near South Africa or India
would most likely choose Mohandas Gandhi as the more effective person, whereas a

The petition was presented to the Assembly after only one month. This cause
became obvious that it wasn t only for the Indian s right to vote but for their
survival as a community in Natal. The majority of Indians had just stayed in South
Africa after their time as slaves on plantations or in mines ended. These men were
about to have to pay a tax of twenty five pounds, an amount they couldn t pay.
Gandhi appealed to the Viceroy of India, the Colonial Secretary in London, and to
Naoroji, the Indian member of Parliament (Coolidge 44). He registered as an
advocate before Natal s Supreme Court, wrote articles, gave speeches, and even
removed his turban while the court was in session. Though he could not win voting
privileges for immigrants from India, he did retain the power to vote for those
Indians already on the voting lists. Unfortunately, Gandhi s hard work did not abolish
the tax but he managed to get it reduced to three pounds, still only some could pay
this. More important than these two achievements was the Natal Indian Congress.
This was a permanent organization with an educational branch and it was available to
the poor. Its wide availability exposed the organization to the masses. After his
accomplishments in South Africa Gandhi returned to India. A pivotal moment in
India s struggle for independence came on March 12, 1930. This two hundred mile,
twenty four day walk was taken by seventy eight men and women with Gandhi, 61 at

Literary Criticism Of Literature And Literature
Literature has no set definition, mainly because throughout history writers, as well
as literary historians have failed to construct an agreeable definition (Bressler 12).
When one thinks of literature, he or she should think of literary criticism different
critical perspectives. Literary criticism requires readers to analyze literary texts
with knowledge of theories. Thus, the next time one reads a text, he or she should
first identify the theory that he or she plans to use. The theories represent a set of
critical lens that one will use to analyze the text critically. For instance, this paper
will focus on the New Criticism theory; it is a theory that requires readers to focus
entirely on the text itself. Readers do not need to focus on... Show more content on

From a New Critic perspective, when analyzing a poem, it is pivotal for readers to
pay close attention to the poem s structure and form, especially since it can help him
or her understand the poem s overall meaning.
In life, human beings will encounter many challenging obstacles throughout his or
her long and stressful journey here on earth, especially since success is the
ultimate goal that he or she wishes to achieve. In the first quatrain of Angelou s
poem, a simile is depicted: You may trod me in the very dirt / But still, like dust, I
ll rise (3 4). Here, it is evident that Angelou wants readers to realize that life will
step on he or she as if him or her is a pile of dirt; however, if he or she is determined
to overcome his or her challenges, he or she will rise just like dust. The simile
depicted in quatrain one, forces readers, from a New Critic viewpoint, to realize that
the essential meaning of Angelou s poem lies within each line of the poem objective
meaning.
Furthermore, in life, human beings will encounter different individuals exposure to
diversity. Human beings learn from one another; however, certain people tend to
encounter human beings who are miserable with his or her life. In fact, people
who feel dejected tend to not motivate others to achieve his or her lifelong goals
this is portrayed in quatrain six of Angelou s poem: You may kill me with your
hatefulness, / But still, like air, I ll rise (23 24). Here, Angelou uses a
Cn Asia Corporation Berhad Financial Statement
Based on the graph above, inventory holding period of CN Asia Corporation
Berhad slightly increased from 91.28 days in 2014 to 98.97 days in 2015 and drop
rapidly to 73.64 days in 2016. Thus, it shows that year 2016 is better than year 2014
and 2015 as the year of 2016 has the lowest inventory holding period ratio. It indicates
that the company holds their inventoryfor 73.64 days before selling it to the
customers. So, it demonstrates that CN Asia Corporation Berhad managed their
inventories efficiently in year 2016 compared to year 2014 and year 2015.
Furthermore, it depicted that the company has fast growth of sales in 2016 compared
to other years, which is RM 18,745,524.
To be detailed, the reason why CN Asia Corporation Berhad took almost 91 98
days to sell their stock in year 2014 and 2015 is due to the overspending of raw
material and overstock of work in progress inventory by the company. As shown in
the notes of financial statement, the company spend almost RM 215,208 in 2014
more than 2015 and 2016. This has forced the company to store non saleable
inventory. So, the longer the company keep the stock, the longer the company s cash

In year 2016, CN Asia Corporation Berhad had only RM 1,083,302 of trade
receivables compared to other years. So, the company can easily controlled their
trade debtors. On top of that, CN Asia Corporation Berhad might be implemented
cash sales rather than credit sales in the year of 2016 in order to get fund to
finance their operation. Other than that, the company also set up a longer credit
terms which are up to 60 days and some credit terms that were accessed approved on
a case to case basis. This will triggered the customers to delay their payment to the
company. Overall, CN Asia Corporation Berhad was getting better in managing and

The Question Of Hopelessness In Robert Ellison s Invisible...
In Invisible Man by Robert Ellison, it seems that the question of hope or
hopelessness? comes up heavily throughout the conclusion of the novel. However,
in the Epilogue of the novel, the narrator concludes his story by tying up all of the
lose ends of his existence by saying, I m an invisible man and it placed me in a hole
or showed me the hole I was in, if you will and I reluctantly accepted the fact. (Ellison
572). This then verbalizes that his invisibility is now apparent to him and thus
forcing him to come to terms with it. When this realization arises within him, the
reader comes to have to ask themselves the question of whether this new self
awareness is hope, or rather, hopelessness. Throughout the novel, the narrator s
existence,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The narrator takes residence in a dark hole and finds himself asking the question,
So why do I write, torturing myself to put it down? (Ellison 579). The question is
strictly regarding his narration of his own story. This narration in which it brings
about the question of if Ellison intended to convey the readers sense of hope or
hopeless with the black man s place in society. Ellison suggests for the reader to
have a sense hopelessness because of the simple fact that his story reinforces the
invisibility that embodies the black man s identity in American society today. By the
narrator completely cutting himself off from society, it undoubtedly magnifies his,
and black men today s, invisibility within the society that they should live in. The
narrator retires to a hole simply because it betters his own self awareness in regards
to his invisibility, his identity and basically where he stands with his peers in the
American society. With the readers sense of hopelessness, the true identity of black
men, then, and black men, now, is manifested within, not only Invisible Man, but the
desperation that is densely incarnated within the communication and actions between
black men and white men,

The importance is on receptiveness of the couple to the emotional needs that arise

to recognize and understand their connection and need for attachment. This therapy is
centered on the theory that couples childhood experiences strongly influence the
couple s behavior in the relationship. In order for this therapy to be effective the
professionals in the human service field must be competent in many facets. They
must be able to use non verbal and verbal skills of communication, use reflective
techniques and ask closed and open ended questions. In addition the counselor...

Verbal and non verbal communication forms the interactions that a person has with

positive outcome in their counselling session. Susan s verbal and non verbal
communication allow the couple to quickly become comfortable with her and open
up about their feelings. Susan always faces the person that is talking and she
maintains a proper amount of eye contact with that person. Not making eye contact
gives the perception of not caring and excessive eye contact can make a person
uncomfortable or feel intruded upon. Susan maintains a soft demeanor throughout the
session by speaking in a calm comforting voice and having a relaxed posture. This
non verbal communication gives the couple the perception that Susan genuinely cares
about what they have to say. Susan asks the couple to describe their relationship and
how each individual feels about the state of the current relationship. She is constantly
showing the couple that she understands what is being said by verbally
communicating to them the emotions they must have felt in the situations they are
describing. She expresses empathy by saying statements like I hear you or I
understand which gives the couple reassurance that they are being heard and she
cares about their

  • 1. Essay Of Water Pollution Crafting an essay on the subject of water pollution presents a unique set of challenges that demand both extensive research and thoughtful analysis. This topic requires a comprehensive understanding of environmental science, chemistry, and the socio-economic factors contributing to water contamination. The complexity of the issue adds an extra layer of difficulty to the writing process. To begin with, delving into the scientific aspects of water pollution necessitates a grasp of various pollutants, their sources, and the ways they interact with aquatic ecosystems. This entails sifting through a myriad of technical data, studies, and reports to form a solid foundation for the essay. Moreover, the dynamic nature of the problem requires staying abreast of current research findings and ongoing environmental developments. Beyond the scientific dimension, addressing the socio-economic factors contributing to water pollution demands a nuanced examination of human behaviors, industrial practices, and governmental policies. This involves navigating through a complex web of societal dynamics, economic interests, and regulatory frameworks, all of which play pivotal roles in shaping the state of water bodies. The writing process also requires a delicate balance between presenting facts and engaging the reader with a compelling narrative. Striking this equilibrium can be challenging, especially when dealing with technical details that might overwhelm the audience. Moreover, weaving together a coherent and persuasive argument demands a meticulous organization of ideas, requiring a keen eye for logical progression and clarity in expression. • 4. Essay On Concert Appreciation Madison Nunley Intro and Appreciation of Music 30 March 2017 Concert Report On Tuesday, March 28th, 2017 at 8:00 P.M., The Emerson String Quartet performed three pieces of classical music at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa, California. The Emerson string Quartet is a professional string ensemble that performs classical music and consists of four adult males; Eugene Drucker on the violin, Philip Setzer on the violin, Lawrence Dutton on the viola, and Paul Walkins on the cello. The Concert opened with String Quartet in F Major by Maurice Ravel. The piece was divided into four movements. The first Movement, Allegro moderato TrГЁs doux, sets the tone for the entire piece. It opens in a warm, inviting tone played by all members of the quartet. Then, it immediately leads into somewhat of an exciting climax, with the first violin taking control and the other three instruments playing similar harmonies, but quickly the music quiets. This same, quick intensity transforming to a slower, quiet melody is continuously repeated throughout the entire first movement. The second theme presented in the opening ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Having never attended any classical music concerts before, I had no idea what to expect. While I was most likely the youngest person there, and most certainly unfamiliar of concert etiquette, I thoroughly enjoyed this experience. While the Emerson String Quartet played three different pieces and all of them were incredible, I chose to focus my report only on the first piece, String Quartet in F Major , and its different movements. I found this piece to be the best piece of the night, possibly because of its continually changing sounds and powerful climaxes, or possibly because it was the first time I had experienced a quartet live. Either way, I loved this piece and the way every movement was unique, but united by repeating the same themes from the first

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She goes deeper into the hearts of the things that relate to women and their lives. The author is indeed well aware of all the implications of female roles in society. Marian is undergoing a phase where she is struggling with the role the society imposes on her and that which she wants for herself. In the novel and her development of a phobia for some food, types have been used to demonstrate this. Through the acquisition of some attitude for food, her powerlessness in this situation is revealed. She is protesting against capitalism, and this leads her to stop eating because she lacks autonomy and control. Her social pressure thus comes out through her eating disorder. This shows a positive correlation between eating disorders and the social pressures people face. Her eating disorder is like a protest and a revolt because of her rebellion against the male dominated society that she lives in. Marian s interpretation of the world is terms of food and uses it to negotiate her way through life. So, you might be asking, how do I know if I m a procrastinator or not? Well, this brings me to my second point, symptoms of procrastination. One of the worst aspects of procrastination is postponement. When one is postponing an important task, it becomes very difficult to enjoy recreational activities. One is socializing with friends or watching a film, and there is this nagging thought, quot;I should be working. quot; A dark cloud of guilt hangs over your head and dampens any pleasure you might be extracting from the distractions of the moment. So, by not getting things done in a reasonably and timely manner, or not done at all, precious opportunities have been lost. 6. nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; Another symptom of procrastination is stress. What this is, is the way you react physically, mentally, and emotionally to the various conditions, changes, and demands in

They are responsible for managing the staff nurses, overseeing patient care and making sure quality care is delivered at lowest possible cost. The effective management of nursing resources is essential (Chitty Black, 2007, p.363). There are budgets established by the companies, as a nursemanager you have to ensure the department has all available nursing resources and remains within the budget limit. • 10. The Security And Exchange Commission The Security and Exchange Commission Introduction The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission s essential obligation is to ensure protection for investors and keep up the quality of the securities markets. The laws and standards that administer the securities business in the United States get a basic idea: all investors, whether vast organizations or private people, have to have admitted to certain essential facts around a venture before getting it. The Security and Exchange Commission requires open organizations to unveil significant money related and other data to people in general. The Security and Exchange Commission likewise regulates stock trades, brokers, financial advisors, shared assets, and open utility holding organizations. Their essential worry here is promoting exposure of sensitive data, authorizing the securities laws, and ensuring financial specialists. The viability of the Security and Exchange Commission pivots upon its implementation power. Every year the SEC brings between 400 500 common authorization activities against people and organizations that infringe upon the securities laws. A portion of the common infractions incorporates insider exchanging, bookkeeping misrepresentation, and giving false or misdirecting data about securities and the organizations that issue them. Creation They set up the Security and Exchange Commission in 1934. Its motivation was to apply the recently passed securities laws, to advance dependability in the business sectors
  • 11. Negative Effects Of Media On Women 1.0 Introduction According to a report published by the United States Census Bureau, American spends about 3952 hours on a yearly basis on using media with approximately 1704 hours being used up watching television (Kaus and Thapar 2014). These numbers are equivalent to watching the television for more than two months and five months on other forms of media. In addition to this, more than 70% of women have also dominated all forms of media particularly the social networks (Kaus and Thapar 2014). Therefore, it is outright reasonable to state that what we spend our time on has a direct impact on our lives. This premise has been the emphasis of many research studies. Most of these research reports have specifically looked at the elements portrayed by media and their effect on our perception of ourselves. Furthermore, body satisfaction and self esteem have been negatively affected particularly by media. Therefore, it is critical to understand the role of media and how it affects the well being of women (Kaus and Thapar 2014). Once we understand the role media plays in the lives of women, we can begin to understand how to reduce its negative effects. In the subsequent literature review, different research studies that demystify the effects of media on women have been explored. Firstly, the studies that focus on the general effect of media and its influence on women have been examined. Additionally, globalization of sociocultural values is also described and the studies that focus
  • 12. Abstract Art And Its Effects On Educating Students And... Abstract art is defined as art that does not attempt to represent external reality, but seeks to achieve its effect using shapes, forms, colors, and textures. Due to this, it has a higher potential for variation within color schemes and materials. Said potential makes art not only valuable but ultimately unique no matter what piece you look at. By addressing this in conjunction with obtaining Teapot by Waldemar Kolbusz, DePauw University would be showing how much it prides itself on educating its students and administration through the implementation of art. Waldemar Kolbusz, thoughtfully dubbed Design Aficionado by his peers and admirers, identifies as an Australian, mostly self taught artist born in 1969. While he went through formal schooling and training as an accountant, he began his full time career as an artist in 2000 at thirty one years old. By using oil, wax, and stained canvases, he focuses mainly in abstract paintings in solo and group exhibits that show emphasis on color and shape. Within these subcategories, Kolbusz deems his work as expressionistic and works to show contrast within hue and the movement within shape to evoke emotion and reactions from viewers. While his pieces remain defined as abstract, he focuses on lifelike shapes and movements within his paintings by creating intense, organic shapes. Throughout the years of his experience, Kolbusz has found that by using wax in conjunction with the oil paints, he has created a style within abstract

Very few studies address disordered eating in cultures outside of the Western and Westernized world. This could be because of the perceived lack of eating disorders in non industrialized countries or even because there is an overwhelming amount of concern over eating disorders in Western society. However, there have been several studies done on binge eating and dietary restraint in non western citizens and in non Caucasian women in the United States. Many cultures idealize robust women and practice feasting as a common social practice. However, women feel pressured by the stick thin images they see on Western influenced television advertisements to lose weight or look more conventionally attractive by Western standards. They feel torn between participating in their traditional custom and looking like the women they see idealized in the media. They feel guilt and embarrassment about overeating but participate in it as part of the cultural norm. (Becker, 2003, 430) Women who feel shame about eating are also less likely to seek help for their eating disorders, and this shame has been found to be more prevalent in women from non Western ethnicities living in the Western world. Women from different ethnicities experience guilt and a fear of losing control while eating at different levels. Asian and Native American women are the most likely to feel embarrassed about overeating or losing control while eating (Eating Disorders Review, 2007, 5). They are therefore the least likely to seek help for their binge eating disorders. Healthcare providers should take ethnicity into account when determining causal factors of binge eating in women from Asian and Native American cultures because they are more

Also, as an absolute monarch he was capable of lowering peasant taxes, all while increasing revenues. It is the focus of many movies and T.V.programs, however exorcism and possession are topics that should not be used for the purpose of entertainment. Exorcism is the healing rite through which a person is released from the clutches of an impure spirit. Through the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke, the Church finds the origin of this sacred rite. These three gospels hold a plethora of information about exorcismand possession in both individual accounts and logically stringing together information. For example, different demons have different names. Although this is not specifically stated, one can observe Christ s accounts with demons, such as Beelzebub, Legion, and Satan,... In Luke 10:17 20, the seventy men Jesus had sent out with authority over demons came back amazed that the demons fell subject to them in the power of Jesus name. This authority is powerful which is why it was given to few selected by Jesus. Bishops today, as apostolic successors, retain this authority granted by the apostles and can delegate that authority to a priest he appoints as an exorcist. The most detailed account of the Geresene demoniac can be found in Mark 5: 1 20. The story begins with Jesus coming to the shore of the country of the Geresenes and upon leaving the boat a man with an unclean spirit came out of the tombs and worshipped him, but then the man (under the influence of Legion) begged Jesus not to torment him. The Geresene people feared this man and attempted to hold him with chains and shackles, however, the demoniac s strength surpassed the chains and no one could hold him back. It is also recorded that he bruised himself and cried out day and night. Jesus commanded the demon to leave the man,but when he did not Jesus asked his name. The demon replied Legion, for we

My forty yard dash time was the third fastest of the team, only behind our starting running back and our starting quarterback. I was able to move better than I ever had been able to before, and I could run around as much as I wanted without getting tired. It had finally arrived. The first game of my senior year of high school football. I had worked harder than I ever thought I could to reach that moment. When I put on my pads and prepared to step out onto the field to

  • 20. Jim Crow Laws Vs Apartheid As a result of the government mandated segregation, resistance in both the United States and South Africa escalated. In other words, the history of the African civil rights movement taught: Nationalism has been tested in the people s struggles . . . and found to be the only antidote against foreign rule and modern imperialism (Mandela, Long Walk to Freedom 2008, 156). By comparing and contrasting the Jim Crow Laws and apartheid, we are able convey that nationalism ultimately lead to activism and reform. In both countries, the schism between Africans and their government worsened. To illustrate: [The Emancipation Proclamation] ended [slavery] . . . , but blacks . . . had more in common with African American slaves . . . than with the [Caucasian businessmen] (Bausum 2012, 19). For instance, Congress passed the discriminatory Jim Crow Laws in order to establish a hierarchy based on the plantation mentality (Bausum 2012, 14). For South Africans, the National Party (the Nats) in 1948, made apartheid the official law. Both forms of segregation continued the cycle of poverty for coloured people and ensured [that Caucasians had better quality education], hospitals, and other public services (Rose 2011, 12). For example, African American garbage men s insufficient salary was based on their garbage routes rather than an hourly wage (Bausum 2012, 14). Similarly, black South African staff received inadequate pay and the law outlawed strikes and the formation of unions.
  • 21. Benefits And Benefits Of A Lunch Hours Lunch hours are the times that the bank is busiest the most. The customers want to be sure that they can be taken care of in a minimal amount of time and still have time left on their lunch hour. Since most customers come during this time, the wait times can be a little longer. Reed (2014) gives an example of a customer having to take a half day off from work just to complete account documents. At Capital One, the customer may not need to take a half day to complete an account, but the opening process does take about 45 minutes. Reed (2014) further explains that digital signatures offer a true benefit to the customer being able to sign quickly and safely. This addition will help bankers and tellers provide better customer service to our... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During account opening, the banker has the customer sign a signature card. Once the signature card is scanned, it is filed away. Sometimes, this may not happen and the document may be misplaced. There are two inconveniences that this may cause: customer inconvenience and customer information is compromised. The customer may be inconvenienced if the signature did not register properly in the system; the customer may need to come back into the branch to complete another signature card. In addition, there is so much personal information on this signature card that it would be detrimental to the bank and to the customer if this information had been retrieved by someone else. Electronic signatures could be a remedy for all these issues. If the customer signs a signature pad, there is no information being left on a paper that can potentially get lost. Also, the signature would already be on file before the customer leaves the branch so there would never be a need for the customer to return to the branch to re sign a document. POTENTIAL DRAWBACKS Throughout the proposal, much information has been given to explain the benefits of implementing a paperless environment at Capital One bank. There are also some drawbacks that should be taken into consideration when deciding whether or not to implement this paperless environment. Table 3 below shows the benefits and potential drawbacks of integrating a paperless environment in the banking branch

One of the most significant and remarkable incidents of the Middle Ages was the series of conflicts known collectively as the Crusades. Generally these conflicts were militant pilgrimages to the Levant (though sometimes elsewhere) undertaken by medieval Europeans in the name of Christendom. Though there were many political and social issues involved in the whole affair, the primary theme, however superficial, was religious. The adversaries in these wars were non Christians, namely Muslims, who were widely seen as the oppressors of Eastern Christians. His chronicle of the conflict, written around 1107, is one of the most widely studied sources of Crusading history. For accounts of the actual battles he used other contemporaneous sources, such as the Gesta Francorum, but he claims to have actually been present at the Council of Clermont. He gives a very detailed description of that event, and attributes a very extravagant, oratorical speech to Pope Urban II. Robert s account was likely commissioned (by the abbot of his monastery) as a response to some level of discontent with the existing chronicles of the First Crusade. It may also have served as an attempt to encourage another expedition to the Holy Land, as it plainly glorifies the First Crusade and emphasizes its more romantic elements. Since Robert is clearly supportive of Crusading, one must be wary of the bias in his account. His possible agenda of preaching another Crusade may very well compromise his account s reliability in certain respects. In short, Robert s role as an eyewitness at Clermont certainly lends him credibility, but it does not imply that his chronicle is devoid of embellishments or propagandistic aspects. La Chanson d Antioche, or the Song of Antioch, is an epic poem dating from the late 12th century whose central subject is the Siege of Antioch. The Siege

For example, a psychologist named Stanley Milgram conducted a study to test the affects of obedience to authority. He selected a group of male volunteers and told them that they were randomly selected to be teachers and learners, though every volunteer in the study was given the role of the teacher. The volunteers were instructed to teach the learners a series of words under supervision of an experimenter and give them a shock whenever they failed. The shocks were gradually increased until the learners began to exhibit signs of fear and pain this is when the experimenter would tell the volunteers to continue with the experiment despite the obvious discomfort that both the teacher and learner were experiencing. 65% of the volunteers continued with the experiment until a fatal shock was given due to the social influence of the experimenter! • 38. The Overlooked Gift of Knowledge In 399 BCE, one of the wisest men in history was put to death. This man was not only extremely wise, but also highly influential. He was a leader of the highest caliber. This is Socrates, arguably one of the most prominent men in philosophical history. Socrates is a figure of evolution, when referring to the way people think. He was sentenced to death by the Athenians for corrupting the youth, not believing in the gods recognized by the state, and for introducing supernatural beings. The Athenians were unjust in in their conviction and condemnation to death of Socratesbecause he helped the youth rather than corrupt it, attempted to abolish ignorance, and provided sufficient evidence of his wisdom. Rather than corrupting, Socrates... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first and most important thing that Socrates encouraged was to recognize your own ignorance. The principal lesson of the oracle story, according to Socrates, is that he is the wisest of men because only he recognizes the extent of his own ignorance (Brickhouse 100). Socrates constantly expressed the importance of recognizing your own ignorance, in order to abolish ignorance within yourself. In addition to this, Socrates tried to open peoples eyes to their own ignorance, and to think with a more open mind. In the seminar reading package it says: He (Socrates) describes himself as the gadfly of the state seeking to sting men into mental activity by opening their eyes to their own ignorance and thereby promoting wisdom and truth and the greatest improvement of the soul (Jowett 247). All Socrates wanted to do here is to have the people recognize their ignorance, so they could learn from it and become smarter and better human beings. The promoting wisdom and truth and the greatest improvement of the soul part of that quotation just proves the good intentions that Socrates had. Next, in Socrates Apology he comments on how people are ignorant of their own knowledge on philosophers. He states people will claim philosophers teach things up in the clouds or under the Earth, and that philosophers do not follow the gods. With this, Socrates concludes that evil people will persuade others about such claims, leading to more ignorance.
  • 39. Owl From Winnie The Poohs Character Analysis Many people have different characteristics and traits mine go with the ones I chose. These three different characters have characteristics that I could relate to. The three fictional characters that most represent my personality are Owl from Winnie The Pooh because of his logical explanations and how he is a careful problem solver, Johnny Test from cartoon network for his recklessness and getting into shenanigans, and Michael Scott from The Office for his goofy behavior and jokes. Owl from Winnie the Pooh is an owl; but we both carry the same thinking and mindset, so one of our similarities is that we are logical thinkers and tries to look for the best logical reason. In a particular part of an episode he is teaching a word to his friends. They mistake the word for a sneeze, but in reality, he is just saying the word. He was trying to explain to his friends that he did not sneeze and that he is just saying the word. In this part, he was trying to provide his logical explanation of what their mistake is and what he really is trying to do. This hurts the character because he is the smarter one that understands things. In other hand he has to explain and teach his friends the meaning of things. Owl could get frustrated for the lack of knowledge and understanding from his friends. I have the trait of problem solving and logical thinking when it comes to working on cars for some reason I just could figure it out before doing the work i just try to put it together in my mind

The petition was presented to the Assembly after only one month. This cause became obvious that it wasn t only for the Indian s right to vote but for their survival as a community in Natal. The majority of Indians had just stayed in South Africa after their time as slaves on plantations or in mines ended. These men were about to have to pay a tax of twenty five pounds, an amount they couldn t pay. Gandhi appealed to the Viceroy of India, the Colonial Secretary in London, and to Naoroji, the Indian member of Parliament (Coolidge 44). He registered as an advocate before Natal s Supreme Court, wrote articles, gave speeches, and even removed his turban while the court was in session. Though he could not win voting privileges for immigrants from India, he did retain the power to vote for those Indians already on the voting lists. Unfortunately, Gandhi s hard work did not abolish the tax but he managed to get it reduced to three pounds, still only some could pay this. More important than these two achievements was the Natal Indian Congress. This was a permanent organization with an educational branch and it was available to the poor. Its wide availability exposed the organization to the masses. After his accomplishments in South Africa Gandhi returned to India. In life, human beings will encounter many challenging obstacles throughout his or her long and stressful journey here on earth, especially since success is the ultimate goal that he or she wishes to achieve. In the first quatrain of Angelou s poem, a simile is depicted: You may trod me in the very dirt / But still, like dust, I ll rise (3 4). Here, it is evident that Angelou wants readers to realize that life will step on he or she as if him or her is a pile of dirt; however, if he or she is determined to overcome his or her challenges, he or she will rise just like dust. The simile depicted in quatrain one, forces readers, from a New Critic viewpoint, to realize that the essential meaning of Angelou s poem lies within each line of the poem objective meaning. The question is strictly regarding his narration of his own story. Ellison suggests for the reader to have a sense hopelessness because of the simple fact that his story reinforces the invisibility that embodies the black man s identity in American society today. By the narrator completely cutting himself off from society, it undoubtedly magnifies his, and black men today s, invisibility within the society that they should live in. The narrator retires to a hole simply because it betters his own self awareness in regards to his invisibility, his identity and basically where he stands with his peers in the American society. With the readers sense of hopelessness, the true identity of black men, then, and black men, now, is manifested within, not only Invisible Man, but the desperation that is densely incarnated within the communication and actions between black men and white men,
