Essay Examples English
Crafting an essay on the topic of "Essay Examples English" poses a unique challenge that
requires a delicate balance of creativity, linguistic prowess, and a thorough understanding of the
subject matter. Firstly, the paradox lies in the topic itself – the demand to exemplify English
essays through the medium of an essay. This recursive nature demands a nuanced approach to
avoid redundancy and maintain a fresh perspective.
Moreover, the task requires an in-depth exploration of the vast expanse of English literature to
select relevant examples that encapsulate the essence of the language's evolution. From classic
works to contemporary masterpieces, the essay must navigate through various periods and styles,
illustrating the evolution of English through diverse literary forms.
The complexity deepens when one considers the multifaceted nature of the English language
itself. Beyond literature, the essay must delve into the intricacies of grammar, syntax, and
vocabulary, showcasing examples that highlight the language's adaptability and richness. It is a
meticulous process to strike a balance between diverse examples that reflect both the technical
aspects and the artistic beauty of English.
Furthermore, the challenge lies in avoiding a mere listing of examples, which could turn the
essay into a mundane catalogue rather than a thoughtful exploration. The essay must weave a
coherent narrative, providing insightful commentary on each example, demonstrating a profound
understanding of their significance in the broader context of English language and literature.
In conclusion, tackling an essay on "Essay Examples English" is no easy feat. It demands a
profound appreciation for the intricacies of the English language, a keen eye for selecting
exemplary instances, and the ability to craft a cohesive narrative that transcends the mere listing
of examples. It is a task that requires both analytical prowess and creative finesse to do justice to
the richness and diversity encapsulated within the realm of English literature.

The Temperance Movement Essay
Temperance Movement What was the purpose of the Temperance Movement and
Prohibition on alcohol? The Temperance Movement was an anti alcohol movement.
The Temperance Movement took place back in the early 20th century. The Christian
abolitionists who fought slavery also prayed to the same God to end the scourge of
alcohol. The purpose of the Temperance Movement was to try to abolish alcohol in
the early 1900 s. We Sang Rock of Ages : Frances Willard Battles Alcohol in the

For those Americans who did not want to go to the effort of making their own liquor,
an army of bootleggers, moonshiners, and rumrunners was available to supply the
nation with all the booze its citizens could drink (Hanson). Americans could just buy
alcohol from bootleggers, moonshiners, and rumrunners if they did not want to make
it themselves because they could find an alcohol seller anywhere. The Eighteenth
Amendment was intended to reduce drinking by abolishing the businesses that made
and sold alcohol: breweries, distillers, winemakers, wholesale sellers, and retail
establishments such as saloons (Hanson). The Eighteenth Amendment was made to
stop alcohol from getting on the streets but it did no use so they got rid of the
Eighteenth Amendment. The temperance movement and the prohibition on alcohol
helped stop most of the drinking in the United States of America. The authors intent
on the Temperance Movement was to show how people were trying to stop the

American history, it is tempting to view the anti alcohol forces as a historical

Causes Of Water Pollution In Kansa
In Kansas pollution is an enormous issue and it affects more than just the air supply
we breath, but also the water we drink and the even the soil we walk on. There are
many agencies that monitor and try to prevent the pollution as much as possible, but
this issue is too large to face head on. The three major problems are pollutionto the
water, air and also the land. In the following paragraphs it will explain in what
ways we pollute our water, air and earth and then also it will tend to the side of how
we are trying to stop or regulate the pollution. If we do not make a stand and want to
change the way we trash our world then it will hurt in generations to come. Water is

The Virgin Suicides By Jeffrey Eugenides
Suicide is something that is influenced by a multitude of factors. It is a complicated
topic and is often overlooked, in fact it needs to be talked about and researched
much more. The Virgin Suicides, by Jeffrey Eugenides, is a book about suicide and
how it can affect not only the victims but also an entire town. In the book, five sisters
commit suicideover time through the influence of many factors in their lives. The
book presents how suicide can destroy a family and how it is something people need
to be proactive about preventing. The Virgin Suicides accurately shows the factors
that lead to suicide, demonstrating that these teenagers often feel they have no other
choice due to parenting or the environment they were raised in.
Adjustment disorders are conditions of stress and depression that put teens in cycles
of sadness that causes emotional trauma that is very difficult to recover from, after
experiencing traumatic events in life. This book, adjustment disorders, describes how
adjustment disorders can lead to suicide thoughts and states, Adjustment disorders
may lead to suicide or suicidal thinking. Researchers have found that the suicidal
process moves faster and involves more rapidly in patients with adjustment disorders
than in those with major depression (Scherstuhl). This describes how adjustment
disorders can make a person suicidal fairly easily and are often present in most
suicidal teenagers. The girls in The Virgin Suicides most likely suffered from this and
The Supernatural in Macbeth

The Supernatural in Macbeth
The supernatural contributes significantly to the story in the thrilling play Macbeth,
written by Shakespeare. The paranormal signs and powers show considerable overlap
with insanity in the case of several characters throughout the play. The superhuman
agents that appear or contacted in the play are used for evil purposes in almost all the
cases, and are predominantly resulting in the death of a human being. First of all, the
three witches are using supernatural powers throughout the play to achieve their
baleful plan. In the beginning of the play, the three witches are murmuring
incantations for perpetrating metaphysical communications escorted by the
supernatural agents. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This kind of confusion is one of the main characteristics of insanity, but it has also a
considerable probability factor, that the sight was a supernatural apparition for him.
Therefore, it can be regarded to as a proper example of the supernatural instances
overlapping with insanity. Lady Macbeth often called the superhuman authorities to
help her reaching her evil goals. She is strongly embraced with the evil in order to
commit her acts, and not even afraid of loosing her sexual characteristics to
accomplish that:
Come, you spirits That tend on mortal thoughts, unsex me here, And fill me, from the
crown to the toe, top full Of direst cruelty! (Lady Macbeth1.5.41 45)
From her first seen effort of connecting the metaphysical world she is becoming
more and more engaged in her psychosis. She starts sleepwalking and thinks that her
hand is bloody as taking part of the murders committed by his husband, Macbeth. She
is trying to rub the blood off her hands as sleeping, and revealing to her environment
that she is guilty. The doctor states, What is it she does
now? Look, how she rubs / her hands. (5.1.29 30) While this is obviously an act of
insanity, as she is having somnambulism, it was thought to happen by supernatural
forces by most of the people of the era. Thirdly, Macbeth s sight of the ghost of

Essay on Contemplating Sartre s No Exit
Contemplating Sartre s No Exit
In No Exit, Sartre provides a compelling answer to the problem of other minds
through the medium of drama. He puts two women (Inez and Estelle) in one hotel
room with one man (Garcin) for all of eternity. This is his concept of hell, and he
makes this point in one of the last few lines of the play: Hell is other people! There
are no torture racks or red hot pitchforks in hell because they re after an economy
of man power or devil power if you prefer. Each person is there (in hell) for a
specific reason: Garcin because he cheated on and tormented his wife, Estelle because
she killed her own child and her lover, then committed suicide, and Inez because she
tormented (female) lover until that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is important to note that Garcin s main fear in life was the fear of being
cowardly, and this motivated the majority of his actions, e.g. most of his actions
were preformed to demonstrate to himself and others that he is/was manly ; for
instance, his conquests of multiple women, his domination and degradation of his
wife, and the way he courted danger at every turn. However, he performed a
cowardly action (fled the country when war broke out) which, when he was caught,
led to a cowardly death which he defines as merely a physical lapse.
Additionally, Estelle finds another way to seek approval: she needs Garcin s
approval (as the only man there) to establish her superiority over Estelle as an object
of desire, by comparison with Inez, the lesbian.
Finally, Inez does the same thing, although in a different form, as Estelle and Garcin.
She seeks approval over Estelle as a strong, dominant, hones woman, as compared to
Estelle, who is a weak, subservient, dishonest woman. Although Inez criticizes Estelle
for having a male dominated personality (which since Inez is a lesbian, she does not),
Inez does not realize that she herself has an other dominated personality.
No Exit also does a fine job of expressing Sartre s idea of negation in his philosophy
of existentialism. Each person negate the person who is attracted to her through the
process of denying that person. However, each person also negates the person whom

Sacrifice As children, many people become accustomed to utilizing the words
good and bad in daily speech. Whether it is to describe how one is feeling or the
nature of a decision made, the practice of binary labeling becomes a habit. In the
novel The Devil and Miss Prym by Paulo Coehlo and the short story The Lotteryby
Shirley Jackson, the villagers must choose between what they perceive as good and
what is not. The issue presented in both pieces of literature is whether the good of
the many is worth the sacrificeof one individual, bringing to light the question of
what really is good . The Devil and Miss Prym is a novel that takes place in the
small, remote village of Viscos. A stranger enters into the town and presents the
people with the opportunity to obtain riches through the gold he has buried there.
The twist, however, is that they must commit murder in order to get the gold,
therefore proving his theory that humankind is evil. When faced with this proposal,
the villagers determine that the sacrifice of one in order to benefit society is the
right decision. Chantal Prym, the youngest of the villagers, is the messenger the
stranger had originally chosen to share his proposition with the villagers. After
struggling with determining what is good, she, herself, come to the conclusion that
no one can be trusted and therefore the villager s decision to murder Berta, the
village s wise old lady, is wrong. On the other hand, the villagers in The Lottery come

Article Review
What Predicts Human Trafficking
The article that is under review is titled What Predicts Human Trafficking by Kevin
Bales. Aims of this article seek to highlight the most important predictor of human
trafficking on a global scale. According to Bales, multiple indicators that identify
human trafficking have previously been acknowledged by earlier investigations.
These indicators derive from social, political, cultural and economic difficulties that
affect the livelihoods of an individual with respect to global location. The assessment
of variables during the scope of research distinguishes prospects, destitution, and
controversy as the critical factors in determining the incidence of human trafficking.
Additionally, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To satisfy the concerns of the posed questions, the author examines country data and
potential indicators that contribute to the prevalence of human trafficking.
To assist in the understanding of data in terms of numerical values, as such data
fails to exist according to Bales, the utilization of two approaches assisted in guided
research. The first approach that Bales refers to in the article was the use of a five
point scale to provide a representation of quantity for international trafficking. The
five point scale categorized countries by compartmentalizing and observing each
independent country in relation to the incidence of trafficking in that region. In
addition to the five point scale, Bales incorporated the use of multiple regressions in
unearthing the answers to the previously stated questions. As regression seeks to
pinpoint a change in dependent variables in relation to change in multiple
independent variables, this method of conducting research is ideal for this area of
discussion as little to no research currently exists to base claims.
According to findings in research, prospects, destitution, political duplicity, and
controversy are the major underlying predictors of trafficking. The use of multiple
regressions operations as a means to highlight the strongest predictors of human
trafficking reveal political duplicity as the prevailing indicator in trafficking from a
country on a global scale; while the percentage of
The Pros And Cons Of Natural Evils
Good can come from evil
Evil is the extreme moral wickedness that results in the suffering of others. This can
come in two forms, physical evils and moral evils. Good is moral right that
strengthens and brings joy to people. One of the greatest evils of humanity was
killing Jesus Christ the Son of God. However, this resulted in one of the greatest
goods in our world. Good Friday occurring meant that the world could be saved from
death. No matter the degree, I believe that all evil can result in some good.
Natural evils can result in solidarity amongst communities and love and support to
those affected. A natural evilis a tremendous suffering that wasn t inflicted by
humans and was due to the nature of our world. These include events such as natural
disasters like Typhoon Haiyan and Ash Wednesday Bushfires. This type of evil brings
traumatic effects and devastate communities through loss of lives and destruction.
Typhoon Haiyan occurred in 2013 and caused a devastating 6,340 fatalities. The Ash
Wednesday Bushfires took place in 1983 causing 75 deaths and injuring thousands
more.
After the terror of Typhoon Haiyan and Ash Wednesday, countless people around the
globe shared their love, aid and support to the affected. This is evident through
volunteers helping relief activities through programs like Caritas. People around the
globe also donated resources. I personally experienced the compassion given to the
Philippines from Typhoon Haiyan. My parish and school community
Homosexuals In Russia
How have the perceptions of homosexuals rights evolved in Russia from the 1930s to
the 1990s?
In the 1930s, under the rule of Stalin, Russia was forced into a strict policy of
containment against rebellious groups and non descendants from the nation itself.
Proceeding the Russian Revolution, homosexuals were always seen as the unruly
minority of the population and were, in fact, commonly identified as the mentally
ill. Multiple anti gay laws were put into place by Stalin for many reasons, some by
which were thought to be based on conspiracy theories and others, by religion. Stalin
had set the precedent in Russia for many years to come until his death in 1953.
Following his death, there was a shift in attitude towards homosexuals, but Russia ...

they can be expelled from society (Tuller 82). In spite of these uncommon
happenings, many individuals were arrested for homosexuality; government control
of homosexuality and oppression of gay rights did not start to gradually unwind
until the early 1970s (West 173). Kozlovsky was allowed to incorporate a concise

Rudyard Kipling Research Paper
Rudyard Kipling is a well known short story author mostly from the book he
published called The Jungle Book which contained many little side tales, along
with many other enjoyable short stories. Kipling was born on December 30, 1865
in Bombay, India where he grew up with his mother, father, and younger sister. At
the age of six, Kipling s mother wanted him to have a formal British education and
decided to send him off to a boarding school all the way in England. This devastated
Rudyard and his love for his mother. He was setup to live with a foster family while
he was there studying at the formal boarding school. Over the years his foster
mother was very brutal with their foster kids and for some reason disliked him more
than others. She would beat and bully Kipling day and... Show more content on

fitting in at school. Later, in a following December, he snuck off to the city of
London where he stayed with some relatives that decided to stay behind and not
travel to India. He devoted his time to reading and writing along with his few
friends. One day when Kipling wasn t doing well, someone walked by and saw his
condition and immediately got someone to contact his mother, who eventually
came and picked him up from London and took him back home to India to relax
and calm his mind. After he returned to India and continued his years in reading
and writing, his parents one day told him that they would not be able to afford to
sent him to college. Kipling was disappointed but later got a job writing for a local
newspaper where he began his career of successful short stories. After his amazing
career as a writer, Kipling had surgery for a haemorrhage inside his small intestine.

Centrust Bank Essay
CenTrust Bank Scandal
CenTrust, first called Dade Federal Savings and Loan, was founded in 1934 during
the Great Depression and eventually became a stalwart of the South Florida business
establishment. By the early 1980s, Miami had a corporate community that any city
would envy. The companies were large and growing. They contributed mightily to
local causes. They virtually invented a skyline where none existed as late as the
early 1980s. CenTrust Bank and David Paul gave huge sums of money and much
effort toward founding the New World Symphony in the 1980s. But the local
corporate world was shaken badly at that time. In South Florida, home of fragile
physical, social and economic climates, big business became an endangered species.

Thrifts suffered more than mutual funds, because they were clogged with battered
Drexel underwritten issues.
The episode marks the first time a financial institution has been brought down
primarily because of its involvement in the junk bond market. CenTrust reported a
$119.5 million loss for its fiscal year ended Sept. 30, 1989, after writing down a ton
of junk and reserving for losses. Under thrift rules, CenTrust needs about $130 million
of equity capital but currently has an equity shortage of $283 million.
After all this happen, CenTrust planned to sell most of its branches to raise capital
and create a separate unit to hold its junk until maturity to avoid turning accounting
losses on bonds real losses. Months later, they planned to merge with Hamilton
Holding Co., but neither the sale of its branches nor the merge gotten executed.
CenTrust Bank, the non operational Miami savings and loan that invested heavily in
junk bonds, also invested heavily in political candidates. The thrift s chairman, David
Paul, also had dozens of meetings and meals with politicians, most of them
Democrats. The get togethers included a June 1988 lunch with former President
Carter and seven meetings with Florida Rep. Bill Nelson, a member of the Banking
Committee.
Just how far CenTrust s fortunes had deteriorated became clear in December 1989,
when the Office of Thrift Supervision slapped a cease and desist order on the thrift,
attacking its sloppy bookkeeping and

Amundson Quotes
Amundsen and his men learned many things with their expedition to the South Pole.
Amundsen was a Norwegian explorer; he was going to the North Pole, however,
Robert Peary beat him there. Amundsen decided to change his plans and go to the
South Pole. Amundsen discovered the North West Passage. Amundsen wrote in his
diary saying, As for the tent, with regard to shape and size it is comfortable but it is
too susceptible to the wind (Alexander). This quote shows that Amundsen learned
that when going to the South Pole he would need wind resistant tents for himself and
his crew. To keep warm when they slept; otherwise, they would freeze. With him
discovering that he needs a better tent made him look into better polar equipment.

How Does Al Pacino Use Rhetorical Strategies In Any

In sports, there are many motivational speeches told to a player or team to reach an
ultimate goal. In the movie Any Given Sunday, Al Pacino plays Tony D Amato, the
head coach of the Miami Sharks, a fictitious professional football team. Al Pacino
faces much adversity throughout the movie and by the end, he must bring his team
together before the biggest battle of [their] professional lives. In the locker room
before their game, Al Pacino gives his team a speech that gives them the motivation
to fight and win. Al Pacino uses a continuous analogy as his most successful
rhetorical strategy. He compares football to life and talks about how both are a game

Al Pacino motivates his team by saying in any fight it is the guy who is willing to
die who is going to win that inch and convinces the players to give everything they
can in this game. He also says, Now I can t do it for you and I can t make you do it
to hopefully ignite an independent feeling in the players to play their best and
guide them to rely on their teammates instead of him. Later he says, look at the guy
next to you... I think you are going to see a guy who will go that inch with you to
bring his team together and build each player s confidence in one another. He uses
strong words like fight, tear, claw, and sacrifice to help the team prepare for their
battle and visualize what it is going to take to win. Pacino succeeds in inspiring
and uniting his team with his speech. Throughout the speech, the players cheer and
exclaim in agreement and support, but by the last sentence, the players are
standing, jumping, and yelling because they are now hyped up for the game. His
speech also appeals to ethos because he admits to faults and makes himself
relatable. He begins by saying, I don t know what to say really and reveals that he
does not have an elaborate speech memorized and that he is going to speak from
his heart. Later he says, I m too old... I made every wrong decision a middle aged
man could make to show that he is only human and that if the players make a

What Instrument Was Best For Me
Jazz Standards
Music isn t just what I do, it s who I am, and who I ve always been. I play twelve
instruments. Some fluently, some only a singular note or, maybe a song. This all
started out in sixth grade when I could not decide what instrument was best for me.
I started out my first two months of middle school by switching from instrument to
instrument. I began with the oboe, and a week later, I changed to percussion. Only
then, did I attempt to play all of the brass instruments and I mean all of them
trumpet, french horn, tuba, trombone, and baritone, you name it, and I ve probably
played it. Next, I moved on to all of the woodwinds, flutes, clarinets, and all of the
saxophones. Again, I cycled through the percussion instruments once again. Finally, I
decided that I would rather play notes on a staff than beat something with a stick. I
was forced, by my very irritated band teacher, to pick one of the two that I was better
at, the alto saxophone or the trumpet. Two completely different musical instruments
in two completely different musical families. Of course, as an indecisive twelve year
old, I could not pick. Mr. Deneen, a woodwind player himself, chose the alto
saxophone.
The alto saxophone has stuck with me for many years six, to be exact. My sixth
grade year I became really good at playing my saxophone. I went from indecisiveness
to first chair in a matter of weeks. In fact, I was so talented that I was moved up into
the eighth grade band as a sixth grader.
Racial Profiling Vs. Proactive Policing
Stop and frisk is a tactic where police are stopping an individual whom they think
are a suspect of committing or about to commit a crime. The officer will frisk the
individual by lightly patting and feeling around his/her outer garments to either find
a concealed weapon or contraband. This is something that is not new but this been
dated to been used back when Britain had a king. In the last past ten to fifteen year
the numbers of stop and frisk had increased substantially. Currently New York uses
stop and frisk as their main tactic to arrest young African Americanand Latino men.
Since the police implemented the stop and frisk tactic there been rumors that the
crime went down, but there are no true statics to back this up. Stop and frisk is
supposed to be a tactic that equally targets all races and tries to stop/ reduce crimes
that s going on in the cities. There is a lot that s going on with this stop and frisk,
many people will say there s a war going on. The two sides are Racial Profiling vs.
Proactive Policing . Some people might say that stop and frisk is working because
the deaths in New York Citywent down 7,300 in the last past eleven years since
Mayor Michael Bloombergtook office (backlash). In such ways, this is true that stop

of the last professional sports organizations to issue sanctions against players who
cause concussions and head injuries. Just in the past season alone, there have been
a total of 44 suspensions in the NHL (TSN.com). Many of these suspensions were
assessed due to dangerous, and sometimes intentional, behavior. To many people,
these 44 suspensions occurring in the past season may seem too excessive;
compared to 2004, it is. However, the frequency of behavior resulting in
suspensions has increased over the past several years due to rule changes and a new
disciplinary council assessing said suspensions. Despite the change in rules, some
still intentionally commit acts of violence against opposing players. These players
defense is that they are trying to preserve the tradition and respect of the game by
humbling new, arrogant players who unnecessarily show off or target star players
(Jones). Although preserving this tradition is expected and necessary due to the
violent nature of the game, many players let their tempers get out of control. Because
of various injuries, especially head injuries, league officials should take a tougher
Australian Theater Ruby Moon and Stolen
Contemporary Australian theatre mainly focuses on the reflection of the real
Australia and communicating to the audience real and modern issues/ideas that
respond to the social climate and community. Australian theatre practitioners use
various performance styles, techniques and dramatic conventions to help portray their
ideas to their audiences and make them feel a particular way to the ideas presented in
a play. Without the use of these styles, techniques and conventions it wouldn t be
possible for the practitioners to emphasise their ideas.

Cameron is able to underscore ray and Sylvie s dislocation with reality and their

the fear and paranoia which permutes society. This is reflected in his dialogue. Also

Sexual Abuse and Personal Identity, and it is through these experiences in which
Harrison demonstrates the personal experiences of the Stolen Generation.
Ruby is one of the most central characters of the performance, and she is used to

This is achieved through a variety of dramatic techniques, particularly, Space,

Risk Management Plan of Walmart
Risk Management Discuss the approach your organisation used to manage its new
initiatives especially new product developments. Wal Mart has a unique enterprise
risk management (ERM) plan that was developed internally in the 1990 s that
includes five steps. These five steps are (Atkinson, 2005): Step One Risk
Identification Step Two Risk Mitigation Step Three Action Planning Step Four
Performance Metrics Step Five Shareholder Value/Return on Investment The first
step is to identify the risk. In some cases this can be a difficult task; especially when
the risk stems from the external environment. There are many tools that can help
organizations to help identify potential risks. Once the risk is identified then the next
step that Wal Mart uses is to try to determine possible courses that would allow them
to mitigate the risk. Not all risks are easy to mitigate. For example, external risks
such as a recession might be difficult to mitigate for nearly any organization. Once the
possible risk mitigations strategies are compiled then the next step is to create an
action plan in which puts into action the different mitigation strategies. The next step
is to determine if the plan worked or not. Thus performance metrics have to be
constructed to determine the effectiveness of the action plan. Finally, the last step
that Wal Mart conducts is to use the financial tools to determine how it will affect the
shareholders. Discuss how your organisation evaluates projects

Evaluate Continuing Professional Development
Continuing Professional Development (CPD) describes the cycle of ongoing
development of knowledge, skills and behaviours for an individual in a professional
capacity. CPD begins with reflecting on one s current abilities, identifying any areas
that need to be enhanced or any skill gaps, and setting development objectives. This
is followed by planning which involves evaluating different learning activities to
decide the most suitable option, and then the action of undertaking educational
activities. Finally an evaluation of whether the learning objectives have been
achieved takes place, this may highlight a further development need and continues the
CPD cycle. The CPD process involves creating a record of learning accomplishments

Poverty And Its Effects On Human Development
My sustained development goal is zero hunger.
Most of us cannot imagine finishing our day without a meal, but for a very huge
population in the world, being hungry is part of everyday life. Hunger leads to
malnutrition and it has long term irreversible effect on brain development. Hungry
and malnourished child performs poorly academically and cannot achieve its full
potential. Poor brain development and academic performance leads to poverty.
Hungry population cannot escape poverty. Poverty then leads to further hunger and
it is a never ending conflict. Many children and adults in developing part of the
world are caught in this. Once the population is fed and properly nourished this cycle
of hunger and poverty can be broken. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These factors lead to poor agricultural yield and inadequate food supply to the
population. Zambia has vast agricultural potential. Despite fertile land and ample
water availability, the agricultural potential of Zambia is not fully used. Of 58%
suitable land only 14% is currently cultivated. Most of the agricultural land is
cultivated by small farmers whose average land holding is 0.5 to 0.9 hectare.
Small scale farmers make up 85% of the farmer population. Small subsistence
farmers are poor and they do not have enough capital available for investing in
modern agricultural technology, fertilizer and superior quality seed. Due to poor
agricultural infrastructure for small subsistence farmers the average yield of crops
is low. Only 0.5 to 1 ton of maize per hectare is produced by these farmers whereas
average maize yield in more evolved agricultural area is 4 tons per hectare. Low
yield leads to food insecurity. A household of 6 people need 1.1 tons maize per year
for food security. If these subsistence farmers have availability of capital for
investing in agricultural infrastructure the yield can be increased 4 to 8 times leading
to food security as well as profit. My Non Government organization is AGRIZAM

adequate agricultural infrastructure. With improved infrastructure, the yield will

I do not remember moving to this town, I was too young. I have lived here all my
life. My parents moved to the town of Oradell so I could go to a good school and
live in a nice house. They bought the cheapest house in Bergen County at the time,
since it was all they could afford. They let me pick which bedroom I wanted, and
although I do not remember saying this, I chose my room because it was the only

Litchfield Penitentiary, a federal prison for women in upstate New York, for drug
smuggling with her ex girlfriend (Alex) a couple of years ago. When Chapman goes
to prisonshe is reunited with Alex, even though their relationship goes through ups
and downs as the time goes by. The main focus of the television show is to present a
public discourse about the criminal justicesystem, particularly incarceration in the
United States. Through the social cognitive theory and the agenda setting theory one
is able to see how Orange is the New Blackdraws attention to different issues within
our incarceration system, specially imprisonment of women. From the social
cognitive theory aspect, the filmmaker has communicated an acceptance towards
distinctive identities by having a variety of characters in the show. Apart from this,
agenda setting theory comes into play when particular issues within imprisonment
are presented, like solitary confinement was throughout many episodes. These can be
further examined and analyzed looking at all the elements Jenji Kohan implements
in her scripts to open up a public discussions about social issues. In regards to social
cognitive theory, one is looking at the fact that people learn by observing behavioral
Richard Rodriguez End Of Education
What is the end of education? Is it a goal accomplished or the conclusion of a bad
habit? Some would say the end of education would be the completion of a higher
education such as college. However, Richard Rodriguez believes that education is
completed when someone no longer has the desire to learn more or go through the
processes that he endured a lonely community without self thought. He endured a
type of miseducation where the desire to get away outweighed his family, and
pleasures of reading. This excess of wanting to get away ended up redirecting
Rodriguez s educational experience and cultured life. As his educationcompleted, he
started to realize the things that he missed out on growing as a pupil or as he refers
himself to as the scholarship boy. Hence, trying to understand the question of how

Education is an ongoing process that one can never escape form. Whether if it is in
an educational institution, exploring a new topic in the news, or hearing about
different cultures, global or local, education fails at being able to completely leave
someone alone. However, an end of education also depends on how someone
defines it. Rodriguez defines learning as a desire to escape. It is an escape from
family by abstracting himself from normal family/home habits he takes his first
step toward academic success, away from his family, (page 341). It is an escape
from the life everyone expects of him especially being from a working class family
to excel beyond the primary education his parents have had set for him, He cannot
afford to admire his parents, (page 341). This habit of abstracting from immediate
experience encloses Rodriguez in his lonely environment that he once craved into a
community where communication between a reader and writer is nonexistent. By
doing so he makes education and learning a chore or a task to strain to be

a natural place where people can be involved and embraced even with others who

expectations of this youth culture in Santa Fe. According to the article, one of the

Choosing a destination for your vacation may be the easiest part of planning the

to a science and some do it all last minute. When you wait until the last minute to
plan your trip it can end up being very expensive. I prefer to keep it simple and take
my time planning my trip, keeping it as stress free as possible. The first step in
planning your vacation is choosing the destination. Make sure that it is somewhere

You re going on vacation so pack comfortably
When you have chosen the location and received your passport the next thing you
must do is choose the dates that you will be going on your vacation but you must
also make sure that they corresponds with the climate. If you decide to go to a
warmer climate then you may want to go between the months of October and May
because the temperatures are not so extreme. If the hot summer months are what you
enjoy, then I recommend that you go on vacation from June through September. On
the other hand, if you choose to go to a cooler climate where it snows in the winter
months I would go during the summer.
After you choose your destination the next thing you must do is reserve your airfare
and hotel. This may be tough because there are many websites and travel agents
that you can go through. I have found that it is cheaper and easier to go through
Expedia.com. You can book your hotel and flight all together and pay one low price.
I have also found that flying with Southwest Airlines is very cheap and they have
many one way stops all across the country and for a cheap hotel that is very nice I
recommend the Extended Stay America.
While you are on your vacation make sure you make plenty of time for sightseeing.
If you are going to the Caribbean or someplace that has a beautiful body of water
that had lots of ocean life in it then I recommend going diving or snorkeling. This is
a great way to get in touch with
The Role Of Streetwear And Its Effect On Society
It s where it all starts, from the ground up; street is the seed to all other fashion
says Kenta Goto from Brknhome, a now defunct Canadian t shirt brand (Vogel 37).
There are many voices that speak of the streetwear culture: what it is or once was,
how it all started and where it is heading. Streetwear is not just some fad or a passing
trend. It is nothing but pure talent and passion, and the vision to stand out from the
rest. It is a fashionmovement, primarily for the youth who roam the streets expressing
their interests, cultural identity, and common scenarios that take place in their urban
catwalks. For the youth, streetwear can be the most effective form of self expression.
Rather than representing a set of brands or clothes, streetwear represents a lifestyle.
Streetwear is more than just clothes; it is an expression of the wearer s identity. It is
an expression of a culture that cannot be taken down, or trashed upon. Streetwear is a
philosophy espousing a do it yourself spirit that once emerged from an urging urban
youth culture, which wanted something different and unique.
THE ORIGINS
As a movement encompassing various elements of surf, skate, and hip hop culture,
the true origins of what is considered the modern day streetwear craze are
questionable. Streetwear is as much a distinct fashion movement, as it is a lifestyle, a
culture promoting a sense of individuality, freedom of expression, and an anti
authority outlook. However, a general consensus

Walt Whitman s Song of Myself
This paper deals with Walt Whitman s Song of Myself in relation to Julia Kristeva s
theories of abjection my paper does not point to abjection in the text, but rather the
significance of the abscence of abjection. This abscence, looming and revolting, arises
from Whitman s attemt to refigure a conception of sublimity which delimits the
material which can trigger the sublime moment. Whitman s democracy of the
sublime is inclusive of those figures on the American landscape, their lives and

The strange elegance of this specter looms in the relief, in the archaic layers of Song
of Myself. It is beyond the foregrounded inversive space at times utopic and sublime,
the space is permeated with universal brotherhood, happiness, the compelled
sentimental that I attempt to delve into, that source from which generates the
repulsive, hidden quivering of a text which, though cast out and forced into absence,
looms in the shadowed relief. The edification of his text and of his readership is
attempted through the construction of an inversive space which refigures the
sublime: the apex of the cultured. I have chosen those moments in the text in which
the poet nears the threshold of bordering abject in order to construct his sublime
utopian vision. It is here, this marked refigurement where ecstasy occurs, where
material which triggers the sublime is the signal of another text; a repulsive reading
looms from the absence of abjection
An invocation of the self begins Song of Myself, positioning the text as an

In Short Cuts, by Raymond Carver, characters experience trials and problems in their
lives, whether extreme such as in A Small, Good Thing and Lemonade or nominal
such as in Vitamins . They all seem to depict these struggles as uphill battles which
the characters cannot and mostly do not overcome. The characters throughout Carver

The Miller s searching through their neighbor s apartment is symbolic of their search

they project the Stones life onto their own, to the extent of pretending to live in their

Porphyria s Lover Tone
The poem Porphyria s Lover written by Robert Browning is a dramatic monologue
told in first person. The title is ironic, making the reader think the poem will be
about two happy lovers. Although the poem is, in fact, about two lovers, we learn
that Porphyria s lover is psychotic and the ending reflects this. The poem ends with
the narrator murdering Porphyria with her own hair and does it seemingly easy. He
doesn t change his tone when speaking of the murder, making the reader do a double
take when he/she first reads it. Robert Browningchooses specific elements to make
his piece effective. His choice of diction, voice, imagery, figures of speech, sound,
sentence structure and symbols are essential to understanding the poem s meaning.

When the poem starts out describing the storm, the reader can find many examples
of enjambment. This is effective, because the sentences are continuing to go on, as
well as the storm. For example, The rain set early in to night,/ The sullen wind was
soon awake,/ It tore the elm tops down for spite,/ (1 3). Since the author chose to use
commas instead of ending the sentence, the reader feels the movement of the storm
continuing on just like the sentences are doing. Also, the use of end stop line is
present when it says, When glided in Porphyria; (6). When the sentence abruptly ends
after the many preceding sentences continue, the reader can conclude that Porphyria
is someone to pay close attention to. The author s choice to grab the reader s
attention by ending the sentence, is important because she is an essential character to
the poem s plot and the reader can predict this from the abrupt ending of the

  • 1. Essay Examples English Crafting an essay on the topic of "Essay Examples English" poses a unique challenge that requires a delicate balance of creativity, linguistic prowess, and a thorough understanding of the subject matter. Firstly, the paradox lies in the topic itself – the demand to exemplify English essays through the medium of an essay. This recursive nature demands a nuanced approach to avoid redundancy and maintain a fresh perspective. Moreover, the task requires an in-depth exploration of the vast expanse of English literature to select relevant examples that encapsulate the essence of the language's evolution. From classic works to contemporary masterpieces, the essay must navigate through various periods and styles, illustrating the evolution of English through diverse literary forms. The complexity deepens when one considers the multifaceted nature of the English language itself. Beyond literature, the essay must delve into the intricacies of grammar, syntax, and vocabulary, showcasing examples that highlight the language's adaptability and richness. It is a meticulous process to strike a balance between diverse examples that reflect both the technical aspects and the artistic beauty of English. Furthermore, the challenge lies in avoiding a mere listing of examples, which could turn the essay into a mundane catalogue rather than a thoughtful exploration. The essay must weave a coherent narrative, providing insightful commentary on each example, demonstrating a profound understanding of their significance in the broader context of English language and literature. In conclusion, tackling an essay on "Essay Examples English" is no easy feat. It demands a profound appreciation for the intricacies of the English language, a keen eye for selecting exemplary instances, and the ability to craft a cohesive narrative that transcends the mere listing of examples. It is a task that requires both analytical prowess and creative finesse to do justice to the richness and diversity encapsulated within the realm of English literature. The paranormal signs and powers show considerable overlap with insanity in the case of several characters throughout the play. The superhuman agents that appear or contacted in the play are used for evil purposes in almost all the cases, and are predominantly resulting in the death of a human being. She is strongly embraced with the evil in order to commit her acts, and not even afraid of loosing her sexual characteristics to accomplish that: Come, you spirits That tend on mortal thoughts, unsex me here, And fill me, from the crown to the toe, top full Of direst cruelty! • 7. Essay on Contemplating Sartre s No Exit Contemplating Sartre s No Exit In No Exit, Sartre provides a compelling answer to the problem of other minds through the medium of drama. He puts two women (Inez and Estelle) in one hotel room with one man (Garcin) for all of eternity. This is his concept of hell, and he makes this point in one of the last few lines of the play: Hell is other people! There are no torture racks or red hot pitchforks in hell because they re after an economy of man power or devil power if you prefer. Each person is there (in hell) for a specific reason: Garcin because he cheated on and tormented his wife, Estelle because she killed her own child and her lover, then committed suicide, and Inez because she tormented (female) lover until that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is important to note that Garcin s main fear in life was the fear of being cowardly, and this motivated the majority of his actions, e.g. most of his actions were preformed to demonstrate to himself and others that he is/was manly ; for instance, his conquests of multiple women, his domination and degradation of his wife, and the way he courted danger at every turn. However, he performed a cowardly action (fled the country when war broke out) which, when he was caught, led to a cowardly death which he defines as merely a physical lapse. Additionally, Estelle finds another way to seek approval: she needs Garcin s approval (as the only man there) to establish her superiority over Estelle as an object of desire, by comparison with Inez, the lesbian. Finally, Inez does the same thing, although in a different form, as Estelle and Garcin. She seeks approval over Estelle as a strong, dominant, hones woman, as compared to Estelle, who is a weak, subservient, dishonest woman. Although Inez criticizes Estelle for having a male dominated personality (which since Inez is a lesbian, she does not), Inez does not realize that she herself has an other dominated personality. No Exit also does a fine job of expressing Sartre s idea of negation in his philosophy of existentialism. Each person negate the person who is attracted to her through the process of denying that person. However, each person also negates the person whom the

Whether it is to describe how one is feeling or the nature of a decision made, the practice of binary labeling becomes a habit. In the novel The Devil and Miss Prym by Paulo Coehlo and the short story The Lotteryby Shirley Jackson, the villagers must choose between what they perceive as good and what is not. The issue presented in both pieces of literature is whether the good of the many is worth the sacrificeof one individual, bringing to light the question of what really is good . The Devil and Miss Prym is a novel that takes place in the small, remote village of Viscos. A stranger enters into the town and presents the people with the opportunity to obtain riches through the gold he has buried there. The twist, however, is that they must commit murder in order to get the gold, therefore proving his theory that humankind is evil. When faced with this proposal, the villagers determine that the sacrifice of one in order to benefit society is the right decision. Chantal Prym, the youngest of the villagers, is the messenger the stranger had originally chosen to share his proposition with the villagers. After struggling with determining what is good, she, herself, come to the conclusion that no one can be trusted and therefore the villager s decision to murder Berta, the village s wise old lady, is wrong. To satisfy the concerns of the posed questions, the author examines country data and potential indicators that contribute to the prevalence of human trafficking. To assist in the understanding of data in terms of numerical values, as such data fails to exist according to Bales, the utilization of two approaches assisted in guided research. The first approach that Bales refers to in the article was the use of a five point scale to provide a representation of quantity for international trafficking. The five point scale categorized countries by compartmentalizing and observing each independent country in relation to the incidence of trafficking in that region. In addition to the five point scale, Bales incorporated the use of multiple regressions in unearthing the answers to the previously stated questions. As regression seeks to pinpoint a change in dependent variables in relation to change in multiple independent variables, this method of conducting research is ideal for this area of discussion as little to no research currently exists to base claims. According to findings in research, prospects, destitution, political duplicity, and controversy are the major underlying predictors of trafficking. The use of multiple regressions operations as a means to highlight the strongest predictors of human trafficking reveal political duplicity as the prevailing indicator in trafficking from a country on a global scale; while the percentage of

Some fluently, some only a singular note or, maybe a song. This all started out in sixth grade when I could not decide what instrument was best for me. I started out my first two months of middle school by switching from instrument to instrument. I began with the oboe, and a week later, I changed to percussion. Only then, did I attempt to play all of the brass instruments and I mean all of them trumpet, french horn, tuba, trombone, and baritone, you name it, and I ve probably played it. Next, I moved on to all of the woodwinds, flutes, clarinets, and all of the saxophones. Again, I cycled through the percussion instruments once again. Finally, I decided that I would rather play notes on a staff than beat something with a stick. I was forced, by my very irritated band teacher, to pick one of the two that I was better at, the alto saxophone or the trumpet. Two completely different musical instruments in two completely different musical families. Of course, as an indecisive twelve year old, I could not pick. Mr. Deneen, a woodwind player himself, chose the alto saxophone. The alto saxophone has stuck with me for many years six, to be exact. My sixth grade year I became really good at playing my saxophone. I went from indecisiveness to first chair in a matter of weeks. In fact, I was so talented that I was moved up into the eighth grade band as a sixth grader.

The National Hockey League(NHL) was one of the last professional sports organizations to issue sanctions against players who cause concussions and head injuries. Just in the past season alone, there have been a total of 44 suspensions in the NHL (TSN.com). Many of these suspensions were assessed due to dangerous, and sometimes intentional, behavior. To many people, these 44 suspensions occurring in the past season may seem too excessive; compared to 2004, it is. However, the frequency of behavior resulting in suspensions has increased over the past several years due to rule changes and a new disciplinary council assessing said suspensions. These five steps are (Atkinson, 2005): Step One Risk Identification Step Two Risk Mitigation Step Three Action Planning Step Four Performance Metrics Step Five Shareholder Value/Return on Investment The first step is to identify the risk. In some cases this can be a difficult task; especially when the risk stems from the external environment. There are many tools that can help organizations to help identify potential risks. Once the risk is identified then the next step that Wal Mart uses is to try to determine possible courses that would allow them to mitigate the risk. Not all risks are easy to mitigate. For example, external risks such as a recession might be difficult to mitigate for nearly any organization. Once the possible risk mitigations strategies are compiled then the next step is to create an action plan in which puts into action the different mitigation strategies. The next step is to determine if the plan worked or not. Thus performance metrics have to be constructed to determine the effectiveness of the action plan. Finally, the last step that Wal Mart conducts is to use the financial tools to determine how it will affect the shareholders. Discuss how your organisation evaluates projects

Most of us cannot imagine finishing our day without a meal, but for a very huge population in the world, being hungry is part of everyday life. Hunger leads to malnutrition and it has long term irreversible effect on brain development. Hungry and malnourished child performs poorly academically and cannot achieve its full potential. Poor brain development and academic performance leads to poverty. Hungry population cannot escape poverty. Poverty then leads to further hunger and it is a never ending conflict. Many children and adults in developing part of the world are caught in this. Once the population is fed and properly nourished this cycle of hunger and poverty can be broken. The ... Despite fertile land and ample water availability, the agricultural potential of Zambia is not fully used. Of 58% suitable land only 14% is currently cultivated. Most of the agricultural land is cultivated by small farmers whose average land holding is 0.5 to 0.9 hectare. Small scale farmers make up 85% of the farmer population. Small subsistence farmers are poor and they do not have enough capital available for investing in modern agricultural technology, fertilizer and superior quality seed. Due to poor agricultural infrastructure for small subsistence farmers the average yield of crops is low. Only 0.5 to 1 ton of maize per hectare is produced by these farmers whereas average maize yield in more evolved agricultural area is 4 tons per hectare. Low yield leads to food insecurity. A household of 6 people need 1.1 tons maize per year for food security. If these subsistence farmers have availability of capital for investing in agricultural infrastructure the yield can be increased 4 to 8 times leading to food security as well as profit. My Non Government organization is AGRIZAM which is involved in co operative farming which helps provide investment for adequate agricultural infrastructure. They let me pick which bedroom I wanted, and although I do not remember saying this, I chose my room because it was the only bedroom with a view of the OradellReservoir from the window. Some would say the end of education would be the completion of a higher education such as college. However, Richard Rodriguez believes that education is completed when someone no longer has the desire to learn more or go through the processes that he endured a lonely community without self thought. He endured a type of miseducation where the desire to get away outweighed his family, and pleasures of reading. It is an escape from family by abstracting himself from normal family/home habits he takes his first step toward academic success, away from his family, (page 341). It is an escape from the life everyone expects of him especially being from a working class family to excel beyond the primary education his parents have had set for him, He cannot afford to admire his parents, (page 341). There are many voices that speak of the streetwear culture: what it is or once was, how it all started and where it is heading. Streetwear is not just some fad or a passing trend. It is nothing but pure talent and passion, and the vision to stand out from the rest. It is a fashionmovement, primarily for the youth who roam the streets expressing their interests, cultural identity, and common scenarios that take place in their urban catwalks. For the youth, streetwear can be the most effective form of self expression. Rather than representing a set of brands or clothes, streetwear represents a lifestyle. Streetwear is more than just clothes; it is an expression of the wearer s identity. It is an expression of a culture that cannot be taken down, or trashed upon. Streetwear is a philosophy espousing a do it yourself spirit that once emerged from an urging urban youth culture, which wanted something different and unique. This abscence, looming and revolting, arises from Whitman s attemt to refigure a conception of sublimity which delimits the material which can trigger the sublime moment. The edification of his text and of his readership is attempted through the construction of an inversive space which refigures the sublime: the apex of the cultured. I have chosen those moments in the text in which the poet nears the threshold of bordering abject in order to construct his sublime utopian vision. It is here, this marked refigurement where ecstasy occurs, where material which triggers the sublime is the signal of another text; a repulsive reading looms from the absence of abjection An invocation of the self begins Song of Myself, positioning the text as an edification of the American readership: I celebrate myself, and sing myself, And what assume you shall assume, For every atom belonging to me as god belongs to you (lines 1 3). Since the author chose to use commas instead of ending the sentence, the reader feels the movement of the storm continuing on just like the sentences are doing. Fans are used mainly for creating a current of air or breeze, especially a machine using an electric motor to rotate and in order to move air that is used for cooling the area. The problem of the proposal leading to making a change in convincing the schoolto provide fans in different areas can come in many different ways. There are several problems that I want to discuss that leads to schools providing fans to different areas. It includes that without fans in the school area it can affect your health status, it can lead to dehydration in which your body loses more water than it takes in and it can also lead to death. The first problem of the fans not being provided to different parts of the school area is that it can lead to affecting your health. In general, a fanhelps to cool the surrounding when people are inside their roomsduring the day. When there is no presence of fan, most people would sweat and in a hot area with no cold atmosphere coming in through it could lead to suffocation due to the presence of much heat.
