Essay Of Animal Farm
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Essay of Animal Farm" can be quite challenging for various
reasons. First and foremost, George Orwell's "Animal Farm" is a seminal work of literature that
delves into complex themes such as power, corruption, and the nature of authority. Consequently,
any essay on this topic requires a deep understanding of the text and its historical context.
Moreover, analyzing "Animal Farm" necessitates navigating allegorical elements that represent
real-world events and figures, primarily the Russian Revolution and its aftermath. Unraveling
these layers requires a keen analytical eye and the ability to draw parallels between the fictional
farm animals and their human counterparts.
Furthermore, crafting an original and insightful essay on "Animal Farm" demands more than just
summarizing the plot or regurgitating well-known interpretations. It requires critical thinking
skills to explore lesser-discussed aspects of the text or offer fresh perspectives on its themes and
characters.
Additionally, writing about "Animal Farm" often involves addressing its relevance to
contemporary society and political landscapes. This adds another layer of complexity as it
requires the writer to draw connections between Orwell's dystopian farm and current events,
which demands both knowledge of current affairs and a nuanced understanding of Orwell's
intended messages.
In conclusion, while writing an essay on the topic of "Essay of Animal Farm" can be daunting
due to its multifaceted nature and the depth of analysis required, it is also an intellectually
rewarding endeavor that allows for the exploration of timeless themes and the examination of
human nature through the lens of allegory.

Shrek the Third and Princess Fiona
. Explain the looking glass theory and self concept as they pertain to Shrek, Donkey,
Princess Fiona, and Prince Farquar. Your answer needs to address the components of
self. In your answer, include how self concept affects the way that they communicate.
Remember that communication includes cognitive, listening and speaking processes.
According to the looking glass theory, we use others as a mirror to see ourselves and
we imagine what others think of us then include these imaginings in our self concept.
In the movie Shrek , the main character and the hero of the story, Shrek, was always
concerned about how he looks and what people think about his face and outfit. That is

Events that are reframed which causes devaluation of self worth, that changes a
person s perspective. Shrek reflects reframing in the movie several times. In one
scene in a conversation with Donkey, Shrek describes how people runaway from
him when they see him which results in isolating himself. Another scene, when he
thought Princess Fiona did hat him because he was ugly. He was sad to think that
everyone used to justify him with his ugly face but none could feel his heart.
Shrek was always trying to hide himself away from the society and he was sick and
tired of the social life because society was unable to judge him in the right way. As a
result form the beginning the did not wanted any friends and lived all alone at the
jungle away from the society.
4. Explain need for affection from Donkey and Shrek s perspectives. The need for
affection is the fact that we all need to receive and give love, support, warmth, and
intimacy. In the perspective of the Donkey, it can be seen when he wanted to be
the friend of Shrek and in another scene the Donkey was cooping with the Dragon
as a result of his loneliness and need for affection. In Shrek s perspective, his need
for affection was oftten suppressed, but at the end his need for affection drives him
to tell princess Feona how he feels about her.

Discovery Communications
Introduction Discovery Communications is a television network started in 1985
based out of Silver Spring, Maryland. The network owns channels such as the
Discovery Channel, TLC, Animal Planet, and Destination America. Their Channels
air in the United States and in two hundred and twenty other countries. Currently
Discovery Communications is ranked 406 in the Fortune 500. They also employ
about seven thousand people worldwide. Most of the shows they televise are about
nature and the environment. On some of their networks such as TLC, they show
more reality based television.
Sustainability

Their biggest strength is definitely their stance on diversity. They take pride in being
a diverse company. That quote from their CEO summed it up best. They believe
having a diverse workforce gives them a strong competitive advantage in their market.
Having a strong foundation in diversity helps for a broader scope on ideas for their
network. They also excel in community engagement. The shows they televise help
raise awareness of environmental threats to their viewers. Between their
documentaries and their partnership with Oceana, Discovery excels in spreading
awareness of wildlife endangerment. Where the company lacks is in sustainability.
They do not produce a sustainability report or talk about how the company helps the
environment. Based off what I saw on CSRHub, the company is a bit behind when it
comes to sustainability. Other Fortune 500 companies have stronger sustainability
practices in place. Since Discovery Communications is only a cable network and they
do not produce physical goods, it may be more difficult for them to have the same
policies as other companies. You would imagine that the network in charge of
channels like Animal Planet would have more info on how the company itself takes
care of the environment but unfortunately that information is not readily available.
Overall Discovery Communication has its strengths in its diversity and its
community engagement. By providing a sustainability report and improving the
companies impact on the environment, Discovery Communications will have a well
rounded standard of corporate social
Biography Of John Steinbeck
Of mice and men, published in 1937 is one of the most important and influential
novels of John Steinbeck. The American author was born in 1902 in Salinas,
California in the United States. Salinas was a prosperous farming community in
1920 s .Therefore, the geography and demographics of Steinbeck s place of origin
greatly influenced Steinbeck s novels and development of his characters who have a
strong identification with land. Steinbeck developed strong interest in writing in
early adolescence in high school and after that, he was enrolled at Stanford
University in 1919 which gave him opportunity to sharpen his writing skills majoring
in English. The author is widely known for writing novels including award winning

We live in a world of dreams and desire to achieve, but sometimes we end up without
achieving them. Therefore, Steinbeck brought this clearly as we see Lennie died
without actually achieving his dreams. Also friendship has been expressed as the
main theme in the novel. Despite the difficult moments they went through, George
and Lennie s friendship is all against the challenges. The two shared well dreams and
loved one another so much. This is a great virtue even in modern
Forms Of Protest In The Civil Rights Movement
Throughout American history, people have protested to create change in the time
and circumstances in which they live. At the heart of every protest are grievances,
such as experience of illegitimate inequality, feelings of relative deprivation,
feelings of injustice, moral indignation about some state of affairs, or a suddenly
imposed grievance (Stekelenburg). Whatever the reason, protests have been an
important and present part of American society for many years. There are multiple
ways in which people protest. People use books, magazines, and social media as
forms of protest. Music is among the most important mediums, for the majority of
society listens to and enjoys it. Songwriters and celebrities, tending to have an
elevated presence in society, draw attention to subjects they believe should be
spoken about in order to create change. Over the years, song artists have used their
platform to show their objection to racial discrimination, war, and intolerance
towards specific groups of people. Racial discrimination is one of the strongest
topics that songwriters have written about. In 1939, before the Civil Rights
Movement, Billie Holiday recorded Strange Fruit, a song originally written as a

Maslow Connections Summary
Maslow Connections Response
The sneetches video includes many of Maslow s principles. Maslow expresses
that there are certain needs that need to be met for a human, or sneech, to survive.
His hierarchy of needs include: physiological needs, safety needs, love and
belonging, esteem, and self actualization. In the video there are two different groups
of sneetches, the plain ones and the ones with a star on their tummies. Maslow s
ideas are put into play here because the plain sneetches were neglected of their love
and belonging needs. They felt left out and not cared for. Additionally, they showed
low self esteem and all the plain sneetches had lower social statuses compared to the
star bellied sneetches. Later in the video, the plain sneeches transform into star bellied
sneeches so they could feel loved and included; however, the star bellied sneetches
then removed their stars so they could be the dominant breed and have more power
and advantages over the other sneetches. In conclusion, the plain sneetches felt less
important and felt they weren t granted with certain basic needs, therefore, they
attempted to reach belongingness by putting stars on their bellies. Sadly, they were
denied that feeling when the star bellied sneetches removed their stars to remain
unlike the others. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tribalism is being apart of a group or clan and feeling like you belong. Like Maslow
stated on his hierarchy of needs, love and belonging is a necessity for human
survival. The article states, We have evolved to depend on our tribes, literally, for
our safety and survival. This sentence provides evidence, referring back to Maslow
s hierarchy of needs, that tribalism can also be associated with the physiological
needs, the basis of human survival. Overall, the human necessity of wanting to fit in,

Little Al Qaeda Vs The Bigu.s Essay
Little Al Qaeda vs The Big U.S When we talk about the super power of the world,
would you imagine that there would be an enemy so small but so able to provoke the
super power of the world The United States. Al Qaeda is an international terrorist
network, which is considered the most significant terrorist threat to the United States.
Al Qaedais a prominent group among the hundreds of terrorist organizations that
despise The United States. Al Qaeda was established around 1988 by Osama bin
Laden. This terrorist organization is comprised of thousands of fighters from
different countries all over the world. Osama bin Laden first formed this
organization to take part in the resistance to defeat the Soviet Union. At a time
when the Soviet Union was invading Afghanistan. An analysis of the terrorist
group Al Qaeda reveals that it is challenging for the United States to win a war that
is not physical in nature but primarily psychological. Terrorist groups tend to wage
a war that is physical in some aspects but the key to victory for a terrorist
organization is to win through psychological attacks and tactics. Al Qaeda is an
important terrorist group not only because they are a well known group that poses a
significant threat to the United States and western interest, but for the reason that it
has survived and been in operation for over four decades.
When looking at a nation as powerful and massive as the United States, one can only

Medical Malpractice
Medical malpractice has been an issue for many years and still occurs at a high
rate of up to 440,000 deaths ( Proposition 46 ). This clearly is a problem, but one it
is one that cannot be solved easily. Bob Pack started the campaign to push for
Proposition 46. The passing of this proposal will require drug and alcohol testing
for doctors, addictive prescription drugs to be tracked through a prescription drug
registry, and will increase the cap on the noneconomic damages ( Proposition 46 ).
This may seem like a great way to reduce medical malpractice and provide greater
health insurance, but this is not necessarily true....

The purpose Proposition 46 was created is because Bob Pack, the sponsor, had a
child that was killed by a driver who was overdosed from the excessive
prescriptions she received from multiple providers ( Prop. 46 ). The cap on pain
and suffering rewards hasn t increased since MICRA was enacted. Proposition 46
allows the $250,000 limit to increase to $1.1 million by the start of 2015 (
Proposition 46 ). Pharmacists and other providers will be required to check CURES
to confirm the appropriate amount of prescriptions to patients, especially for those
prescribed with commonly abused drugs like Oxycontin, Vicodin, and Adderall (
Proposition 46 ). By requiring providers to check the database about patient s
medical records, it can reduce over prescription to patients. Lastly, physicians will be
required to submit to random alcohol and drug testing. Due to high incidences of
medical malpractices in the United States, the demand to drug test doctor is rising
and Prop 46 claims that drug testing physicians will reduce medical malpractice (

Radiocarbon Dating Accurate
Radiocarbon dating, which is quite often referred to as Carbon 14, or C14, is
probably used the most of all absolute dating techniques. The method is used to
date all sorts of artifacts including bones, cloth, and wood, in addition to plants. For
artifacts up to about 50,000 years old, it is one of the most specific methods of
dating available. In the late 1940 s, C 14 was developed by Willard Libby.
Archeologists use this dating method, which is the standard in the scientific industry
to this date. According to the Kelly Long in Why is Radiocarbon DatingImportant to
Archeology, In 1948, American chemist Willard Liberty, who worked on the
development of the atomic bomb, published the first set of development in absolute
dating in archeology... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is an objective method that provides more accurate ages of artifacts by measuring
the amount of C14 present in the artifact and comparing it to an already known
reference artifact. According to Michael Gagne, in Dating in Archeology, Following
the death of an organism, any exchange ceases and the carbon 14, which is
radioactive and therefore unstable, slowly begins to disintegrate at a known rate
(half life of 5730 years, ie, after this period only half of the total carbon 14 present
at the time of death remains). The amount of carbon 14 remaining in the material to
date is compared to a reference standard (ratio 14C/total carbon, 12C and 13C) to
calculate the time elapsed since its occurrence. (Gagne, p. 1) This method actually is
based on a something that occurs every day on earth and is the foundation of life.
Think about it... all living species on Earth including plants and animals exchange
carbon dioxide with their environment until they die. Marshall Brain in How Carbon
14 Dating Works describes simply how C14 dating works. Simply said, the way
the process works is by measuring the amount of C14 in the artifact, which forms
naturally when cosmic rays in the earth s upper atmosphere strike nitrogen
molecules and oxidize to become carbon dioxide. Plants then absorb and
continually replenish carbon dioxide until the plant dies or it passes onto animals
that eat the plants. After the death of the organism, the amount of C14 in the
organism or artifact decreases at a regular pace as decaying occurs. Since C14 has a
half life of 5,730 plus or minus 40 years, the object loses half of its C14 about every
5,700 years. Once the organism dies, it stops taking on new carbon so the ratio of
C12 to C14 is the same for every organism. Therefore, the age of and artifact can be
determined fairly accurately if scientists compare the ratio of C12 to C14 in an
artifact and compare it to the ratio in a
Mark Hamill Accomplishments
Before I mentioned that Mark Hamill hasn t had many major on screen roles but he
has had a very successful career as a voice actor and is mainly famous for voicing
the Joker in Batman: The Animated Series and Batman: Arkham video game
series. He has been voicing the Joker for 18 years in nearly every project, as fans
get grumpy when somebody else is cast in his stead. (Forbes.com, 2015). He is
adored by fans as the quote by Forbes states, people want him that much that they

Mark Hamill is a cult star because of whom he played in Star Wars. By playing
Luke Skywalker he made his career but at the same time ruined it because
everyone knew who he was and he was known worldwide but not the actor he is.
Instead of gaining his own identity of Mark Hamill, the actor, he was tied to the
identity Luke Skywalker for a few different reasons such as facial scars and not
having many other on screen roles compared to his co stars. This directly impacted
him in a few roles because people didn t want Luke Skywalker in their film. He is a
cult star because he has a loyal fan base for both Star Wars and the Animated Batman
Series as the voice of the Joker. He is classed as a cult star because of the voice
acting, just because it isn t a on screen role doesn t mean he cant be cult because of
it. He has a loyal fan base that loves his voice acting skills and don t want him to
pass the mantle to another voice actor because he is one of the best Joker voices.
Even with his voice acting work he still doesn t have his own identity because
when I was researching about Mark Hamill and the Joker I started talking to
someone and I asked him If he knew who voices the animated Joker? He replied

What I Attended A Concert
I attended a concert on the 16th of November at 7:30 in the evening at the Olive
DeLuce Fine Arts Building to watch the Northwest Jazz and Studio Jazz Ensembles
perform. Both ensembles performed a variety of songs generally under the jazz
genre, featuring artists studied in the course, including Duke Ellington, Count Basie
and George Gershwin. Some of the songs performed by the ensembles included La
Almeja Pequena, Count Me In, Rockin In Rhythm, and I ve Got a Crush on You.
Although there were many diverse styles played throughout the concert, many songs
performed are from the Tin Pan Alley, jazzor swing genres, all of which became
popular between 1930 and 1950. The songs performed by the Northwest Jazz and
Studio Jazz Ensembles can collectively be classified as big bandera music, including
polyphonic textures, complex rhythmic structures and collective improvisation, the
start of a new age of American popular music.
The Northwest jazz ensembles featured songs both under Dixieland jazz and swing
genres. Using a combination of the improvisational, small band qualities of jazz with
big band swing allowed listeners to experience both genres of music, clearly
displaying the similarities they share. A distinguishing feature in Dixieland jazz is the
separation of the front line (instruments such as the cornet, clarinet and trombone)
and rhythm section (instruments such as the piano and drums). Similarly, it is
noticeable in Dixieland jazz is that each

Psychological Effects of the Holocaust on Its Survivors After the liberation of the

traumas, such as post traumatic stress disorder, which had various mental effects.
PTSD is a reaction to a traumatic event where a person can see he is in danger, his
life is being threatened, or other people die or are injured in circumstances that are
out of that person s control. The Holocaustwas a very traumatic experience for
millions of people. The memories of death and horror of those who lived in the death

The Black And Burgundy Made Me Essay
I never thought that my nails were going to draw too much attention. I was enjoying
how the nail polish looked on my hands, it was an exciting change. The combination
of black and burgundy made me feel powerful, reckless, and confident because I was
subverting and redefining social norms. I felt like a man, but the rest of society saw
me differently. In our society nail polish is for women. Painting nails is a beauty
practice that embraces femininity and womanhood. My nails cast an instantaneous
label on myself. Many individuals questioned my sexuality and gender. It was like my
masculinity was endangered by the colors of my nails and I was no longer
considered a man anymore. Why do you paint your nails? Are you gay? Is it a new
trend? Wait, what is that on your nails? , I was a threat to what society defines as a
man, therefore people were desperate to define the purpose of my painted nails. The
interference of sex and gender norms causes disruption to social order and people
seem to be determine to redefine, correct or erase the variation.
Every characteristic of an individual s life is determined by their genitals. Why is
gender attribution so meaningful to social order and why does the inability to
classify someone sex s cause such a major disruption? (Preves, 2004:13). Gender
classification starts from birth, when a baby is identified as a boy or girl. The reveal

Descriptive Essay About Snow White
Snow White. Casper. Why do these characters sound familiar to me? Well, these
have been the nicknames I have acquired through the years. I describe myself as
bright white. I never realized how white I was until people felt the dire need to tell
me. As a young child, I never really thought it was a super colossal deal either. But
as we age, we learn new things that perhaps we did not recognize before. People say
that some things in life, you just never forget. This indeed is very true. Words can
scar. Several summers ago I was at a friend s house playing volleyball with a few
people. Does it bother you that you are so white? asked a girl who I did not even
know. I dropped the ball and stared at her with a blank expression. All that was
running through my mindwas, Does it bother you that you are so obnoxious?
But of course this thought was not vocalized. I simply kept playing volleyball. But
soon after I established questions. Does it bother me? Should it bother me? I went
home that day and glared at myself in the mirror. Then it struck me, I was whiter
than most people were. This one stranger s comment made me question myself. I
began to over analyze and as time passed by my self esteem plummeted. I thought
that maybe if I had been born with sun kissed skin, my family and friends would not
judge me. Then, I began wearing makeup to not look as sickly as people made me
out to be. I developed a sudden yearning to go down to the shore all the time to try
to get some type of color.
But then one day, I studied my mom s face. Her smooth, glowing, and porcelain
skin made me wonder. I was curious as how a woman at her age could look ten
years younger. My mom shared the specific ingredient to maintaining beautiful
skin. She explained that staying out of the sun was the key to wrinkle free skin as
an adult. Hundreds of thoughts ran through my mind. She also stated that as a
teenager, she experienced all the same reactions. In fact, one crude person asked if
she had lived in a bomb shelter, meaning that it looked as if she never saw the sun.
The irony of it all was that these people with the so called society accepted
complexions who told me to lay in the sun, actually had imperfections on their skin

Antibiotic Resistance To Antibiotics
Antibiotic Resistance The increasing resistance of bacteria to antibiotics is a growing
problem that affects individuals on a global status. Antibiotic resistance refers to the
ability of bacteria to alter their genetic material and mutate to avoid destruction by
antibiotic medications rendering the drugs ineffective in fighting infection and
disease. This resistance has had tragic effects as numerous of the resistant infections
have resulted in death of the host. Because of the severity of this condition,
organizations and institutions across the globe have been working together to study
and examine the best strategies to combat these resistant bacteriaor sometimes
referred to as superbugs . Many innovations have been proposed and implemented in
attempts to rid people of their infections. The discussion of which approaches are the
most effective and cost efficient has been taking place for decades and is still
occurring today along with further investigations of alternatives to antibiotics
altogether. Researchers are also attempting to understand what has caused the
problem of antibiotic resistanceand how this problem has developed. Efforts to
contest these bacteria are extremely important and it is now up to the next generation
of health care providers, researchers, and educators to implement the best ways to
keep people healthy. There is much speculation about what has caused the increased
resistance of bacteria to antibiotics and how this problem has developed.
Volumnia s Triumph in Shakespeare s Coriolanus Essay
Because Coriolanus is largely a stage of competing self interests, it seems wholly
unnecessary to acknowledge their centrality in the play. Most of these interests are
ephemeral or situational, and are thus without true devotion. Thus however enraged
particular interests are, they are rarely triumphant. However, Volumnia s self interest
warrants noting, as she is consistently resolute and passionately advocates her
opinions. Her self interest ultimately triumphs over Coriolanus psychologically, and
in consequence leaves him vulnerable to be triumphed over physically. Assumingly
on account of the marginalized status of and opportunities for Roman women,
Volumnia uses her son Coriolanus to satisfy her otherwise unrealizable longing...

and all who contradict his intentions with the utmost disrespect. He is relentless and
debasing in interactions with the plebeians, treats them as if they are animals, and
considers them unworthy of respect. What s the matter, you dissentious rogues,/ That,
rubbing the poor itch of your opinion,/ Make yourselves scabs? (1.1.161 163) Nearly
every word in this statement contributes to its abusiveness. He calls the people
dissentious (though not in their opposition to him), rogues (although the plebeians
are the one s being denied rations, rights, and respect), their opinions itches (because
they irritate him) to be scratched, and culminates by calling them scabs! Attitude is
learned, and Volumnia has been Coriolanus most influential teacher. While she insists
that he be diplomatic and even fake when necessary, Coriolanus shows that he cannot
selectively curb his attitude. It is difficult to say whether or not Coriolanus seeks
fame on his own behalf is or does so on account of his mother s insistence. The latter
suggestion is quite plausible, as Volumnia continuously references the importance of
fame and honor. She insists that Coriolanus run for consul, saying, it shall hold
companionship in peace/
Universal Basic Income (UBI)
Universal Basic Income Most people don t know about the universal basic income
(UBI). The UBI is a monthly check of around $800 to $1,000 for everyone,
depending on their household, and is to help people afford the basic essentials.
The UBI could be a potentially good idea because it could help end poverty, better
school completion, and people could have more money if they work too. Firstly,
the UBI could help end poverty by providing money for homeless people. If
homeless people get around $800 monthly, then they can eventually afford nice
clothes and get a nice paying job. In 2009, London had a small experiment about
what homeless veterans would do if they gave them $4,500. None of the men wasted
their money on drugs or alcohol and about
Descriptive Essay About My New House
I looked back at my house, the green peeling paint on the door, the ripped screen
door, the huge window at the top of the house, from which you could see into my
room, and I only had one thought, this is no longer my home. I tore my gaze away
from the house and entered the car. The floor had so much of our boxes and
suitcases, I was forced to lift my feet so I could fit. My neighbors weren t home
yet, so I wasn t able to say goodbye to them. I wished they were there. I d always
been really close with my neighbors. They took care of me when my sister was
born, and waited for my grandpa to take me to the hospital. I was especially close
to the neighborhood kids; ever since I could talk they came over almost every
week. I wondered if my new neighborhood would be like this. The engine vroomed
to life and away from the beautiful, old house we went. In less than ten minutes, we
arrived at my new house. The front was undeniably gorgeous. The grass was not
the yellowish brown brought on from the drought, instead it was a lively green that
I had dreams about running in. The fall leaves around the trees enhanced the
feeling of Christmas soon to come and the stairs leading up to the front door were
clean. They had no muddy footprints that I was so used to seeing on my concrete. I
walked up the steps slowly. I had a half witted hope that if I moved slow enough I
d end up back at the Azusa house. I didn t move slow enough. I walked through the
doorway and into a corridor type area
O Brien and Fossie in The Things They Carried Essay
When many think of a great, memorable story, they will probably remember an
inspirational or coming of age novel, or Bildungsroman. In many ways, The Things
They Carried is an exemplary Bildungsroman as it carries the reader through the
lives and problems of every soldier within its pages. Each man is witnessed as he
goes through his own maturation and personal times of struggle and hardships. Some
are focused on more than others, but each man has a story to tell, each a moral to
teach. Throughout The Things They Carried, both Tim O?Brien and Mark Fossie
experience a significant amount of personal maturation by gaining new knowledge
about themselves, the VietnamWar, and the world around them. There are very few
times when a person goes... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When O?Brien is shot and calls for Bobby Jorgenson to come to his aid, he realizes
that Jorgenson is too afraid to help his fellow soldiers out. O?Brien writes that he
then felt a deep hatred for Jorgenson and wants to get him back. On the brink of a
maniacal outburst against the new medic, O?Brien writes, ?I?d come to this war a
quiet, thoughtful sort of person?, but after seven months in the bush I realized that
those high, civilized trappings had somehow been crushed under the weight of the
simple daily realities. I?d turned mean inside? (200). Here, O?Brien conveys to the
reader that Vietnam had taken over nearly his entire body and personality, causing
him to transform into an unrelenting, savage being. O?Brien learned that wars can
change people, as the Vietnam War changed him. When Mark Fossie realizes that
Mary Anne, along with the six Green Berets, has gone off into the jungles the
previous night, he learns that the Vietnam War is a merciless trap that can take
anybody or anything and transform it into something unrecognizable. He learns that
the war has the power to completely change even somebody like his sweet
girlfriend, Mary Anne. This insight causes Fossie to feel sorrow. ?The grief took
(Fossie) by the throat and squeezed and would not let go? (105). Gaining common
knowledge is one thing, but learning about the world and its contents during a single

Magical Realism In Edgar Allen Poe s Fall Of The House...
One of the scariest experiences of my life was when Hayden was climbing a
mountainside. Hayden went to grab a plant to help myself up, but it ripped out.
When that happened Hayden s brother had caught Hayden s arm and helped
Hayden up because if Hayden had fallen, Hayden was most likely going to die.
This scenario relates to gothic literature; because I was in a bleak setting and it
relates to magical realism because for some reason, my brother, caught me at the
perfect time. These genres are similar in that they both use supernatural events in
the story. However, Edgar Allen Poe s Fall of the House of Usher is an example of
gothic literature because it tells you how the story ends; while Julio Cortazar s
House Taken Over is an example of magical realism because it discusses historic
facts with a mysterious feeling. Hayden s scariest experience can best be described
as an experience which are examples of the potential tragedies found in Gothic and
Magical Realist genres.
Gothic literature and magical realism are similar for the sake of them build off
each other taking real life places or relatable characters put in an eccentric celestial
world. In Edgar Allen Poe s Fall in the house Usher Edgar reveals the darkest
aspects of the human mind and heart were remarkably revealing and what it means

Week One Study Guide Anatomy and Physiology Essay
WEEK 1: AN INTRODUCTION TO HUMAN ANATOMY PHYSIOLOGY
1. Define the terms anatomy and physiology, and explain their relationship using an
example of a human structure with its corresponding function. Anatomy: The branch
of science concerned with the bodily structure of humans, animals, and other
organisms, esp. as revealed by dissection. Physiology: The branch of biology that
deals with the normal functions of living organisms and their parts. Anatomy and
physiology are connected in the way of not being able to understand one without the
other. For example, to understand your lungs functions of breathing through
physiology, you have to understand the parts and structure of them (anatomy) such as

turn into an actuality. This leaves us to ponder in thought, what is the genuine part
of youth games in the public eye? Is it accurate to say that it is just to distinguish the

Taking an interest in sports is not a magical equation to keep youth out of
inconvenience. A grieved kid doesn t just put on football pads and all of a sudden
turn into a flawless child. Nonetheless, when he or she participates in a sorted out
game, rehearses consistently and figures out how to turn into an essential piece of
a group, they are less likely to fall into inconvenience. A kid with a lot of free time
on his or her hands might be a formula for catastrophe. At the point when playing an
intense game you are obligated to practice. Generally these practices happen 3 5
times each week for 2 hours for every day. This leaves less time accessible for a kid
to get into evil. Youth who are completely included in their game, are less intrigued
by drinking, medications as well as hazardous sexual practices. Female players are
65% less like to end up being a teenage parent, when they are heavily involved in
sports. Sports can give youngsters a feeling of self esteem and achievement.
Numerous youth players light up at the prospect of doing something that profits
themselves, their companions and their groups. Pushing for a hearty and dynamic
lifestyle through wellness and physical activity is a clear advantage to playing games
at a youthful age. With youth obesity on the rise, creating

What Is The Striders Poem
Whereas for Ramanujan the animal is not mere a symbol caged in human world
rather it is a messenger of spirituality and thus of ultimate freedom. In his most
celebrated and discussed poem The Striders Ramanujan forcefully puts forward the
inevitability and indispensability of animals and insects in our life when he deploys
a water bug as the metaphor to represent his poetic ideas:
Thin stemmed, bubble eyed water bugs
See them perch on the dry capillary legs
Weightless on the ripple skin of a stream (The Striders, p. 03. At Poli Ready, 69)
Here, the water bug is striding the flowing stream with its thin legs in the running
water maintaining the balance. Spiritual connotations of this instance of the bug
maintaining the balance on running water tell of its harmony with nature and
adaptability to life better than that of humans. Such poems, wherein Ramanujan
celebrates his past mingled with animal world, speak of poet s self reflexivity and
craving for some lost values.

Animal Morality And Master Morality
agiarNietzsche is one of the most famous, complex, baffling, and misunderstood
philosophers of all time. Nietzsche begins his ethics with the proposition that there
are only two basic types of morality: slave morality and master morality. These
types of morality Nietzsche proposes were initially formed when society was not
actually made up of masters and slaves. In a society where masters were completely
free and slaves simply had to do whatever their masters said. Based on their
respective situations Nietzsche argues these two groups of people came up with two
very different types of morality. Now of course there are no longer literal masterand
slaves in today s society. However nietzche proposes well masters and slaves no
longer exist but the moral system they came up with do. Therefore if we are to
understand and evaluate morality as it exists today, we must investigate morality as it
was originally defined by master and slaves.
Masters are totally free. They do what they want, to whom that want, and whatever
they want. How it is such a person in such a situation begin to think about morality.
Nietzsche proposes a person in such a situation would begin by saying that
whatever it is the approval of our desire is good. We can imagin such a list of thing
such a master might approve of . he will no doubt desire to show off his courage
during battle to keep power over his slaves and it demonstrates his honour in front of
his fellow master. Goodness in master morality is
Advantages And Disadvantages Of Universal Healthcare
System
Every healthcare system in existence has advantages and disadvantages. Each
healthcare system benefits different populations. The universal healthcare system,
however, is often believed to be one of the best healthcare systems in the world. It is
questionable why this is presumed because this system has a number of flaws that
creates challenges for doctors, families, and communities. Many people can find
themselves frustrated due to long waiting lists and the seemingly apathetic work of
physicians when it comes to the care of their patients. A previous 5 year resident of
Canada experienced the challenges of the universal healthcare system first hand. In
an interview, she declared that if someone needed to go to the doctor they had to plan

there are places all across Canada with the same issues. This lack of patient care is
impacting citizens to stay in these areas and even Canada. Universal health care
causes a chain of reactions within Canada. Before it begins to impact patients and
families, the doctors are affected causing the most influential outcomes within the
country. A survey done found that 55 per cent of doctors reported that their practices
are being influenced by government driven policies rather than evidence based

The Control Process Steps And Monitoring Performance

four steps play a role in purchasing, receiving and storage of food for my restaurant.

it a lot easier when buying stuff for your restaurant and it gives you rules to set out

These standards are set so that quality standards and developing standard purchasing
specifications ensure all foods purchased will be desired to what you ordered. There
are also standards set for quantity foods are divided into two categories, perishable
and non perishable. With the perishable food we order enough to last us until our
next order day because we don t want to waste anything or let anything go bad. Non
perishable foods can be order in a larger quantity because they can be kept longer
on the shelf and not go bad as soon. When they order the food we have standards set

What Instrument Was Best For Me
Jazz Standards
Music isn t just what I do, it s who I am, and who I ve always been. I play twelve
instruments. Some fluently, some only a singular note or, maybe a song. This all
started out in sixth grade when I could not decide what instrument was best for me.
I started out my first two months of middle school by switching from instrument to
instrument. I began with the oboe, and a week later, I changed to percussion. Only
then, did I attempt to play all of the brass instruments and I mean all of them
trumpet, french horn, tuba, trombone, and baritone, you name it, and I ve probably
played it. Next, I moved on to all of the woodwinds, flutes, clarinets, and all of the
saxophones. Again, I cycled through the percussion instruments once again. Finally, I
decided that I would rather play notes on a staff than beat something with a stick. I
was forced, by my very irritated band teacher, to pick one of the two that I was better
at, the alto saxophone or the trumpet. Two completely different musical instruments
in two completely different musical families. Of course, as an indecisive twelve year
old, I could not pick. Mr. Deneen, a woodwind player himself, chose the alto
saxophone.
The alto saxophone has stuck with me for many years six, to be exact. My sixth
grade year I became really good at playing my saxophone. I went from indecisiveness
to first chair in a matter of weeks. In fact, I was so talented that I was moved up into
the eighth grade band as a sixth grader.
Violent Behavior Analysis
Have violent video games really inspired violence in youths? The definition of
violence, according to the Merriam Webster dictionary states Violence behavior
involving physical force intended to hurt, damage, or kill someone or something.
Strength of emotion or an unpleasant or destructive force. That definition seems very
vague as far as video games are concerned. A gamethat is rated for younger children
can have some sort of violencein them if we go just by the definition of violence.
Most games that are looked at as being violent relate to the games with a mature
rating, but did you know there is violence even in games that are rated for everyone.

a game is what arouses aggression and not the level of violent content. Any game can
be competitive to any individual. It is all about the perceived notion of the player to
determine whether or not a game is competitive or not. No one other that the player

West Florida
West Florida is starkly different from the preconceived images most U.S citizens

hotels and exotic cars. Instead, West Florida contains a mixture of southern agrarian
roots and small tight knit communities that have become hallmarks of the deep souths
perception. One such area which exemplifies the deep southern aspects of west

Gender Stereotypes
In recent years, third wave feminism has driven the growing recognition of negative
gender stereotypes in media. Consequently, there has been an increase in television
programming and advertisements that purposely challenge gender norms. In 2015,
the Cannes Lions festival introduced a new award for advertising of this kind,
leading to an increase in its production and recognition (Exon Arrow, 2015). Several
multimillion dollar corporations such as Always, Burger King, Pantene, Nike, and
Dove have released advertisements specifically designed to empower women.
Disney started releasing movies for children that feature strong female leads with
goals unrelated to relationships. Even Netflix has seized the trend, releasing a
number of shows that challenge many different kinds of stereotypes. Men and
women have both been shown to respond positively to depictions of powerful
women (Abrams, 2012). After viewing content featuring a strong female lead, both
groups have more positive attitudes about women. 58% of women also reported that
positive female role models in media have inspired them to be more ambitious or
assertive. There has been less progress in challenging masculine stereotypes, although
it may not be far behind.
In addition to fictional characters, many real life media participants are also
challenging gender stereotypes. Female politicians such as Hilary Clinton and women
in other positions of authority such as Judge Judy break the stereotypes about what

Seat Belts
A seat belt is a restraining device installed in a vehicle to prevent or minimize the
force of an injury during a crash ( Seat Belts 5). Although it is also known as a
safety belt, the safety part is the key issue that is causing much controversy around
drivers, manufacturers, and researchers alike. The main idea around the debate is the
fact that although research indicates that when seat belts are used properly they save
lives, opponents argue that mandating their use can actually cause more harm than
good in some cases and is an infringement on personal rights. Car accidents are the
leading cause of death for people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Freedom stops when we get to a point where others may be harmed or killed. As soon
as something puts lives in danger, the right of freedom disappears thus making
mandatory seatbelt laws a non infringement on freedom.
Seat belts are the single most effective traffic safety device for preventing death and
injury in a vehicle ( Seat Belt Safety, Seat Belt Laws ). Wearing a seat belt can
reduce the risk of crash injuries by 50%. Seat belts save lives and are effective in
preventing ejections from a vehicle. While opponents argue that in certain cases it
is better to not wear a seatbelt, wearing a seatbelt is usually the safer route. A
person will never know what type of accident they might enter and thus can t
prepare for a certain type of accident. You can t know whether or not having a
seatbelt will save you. It s better to wear a seatbelt and have a 50% of survival than
not wearing a seatbelt and have a 3% chance of being in a situational accident
where not having a seat belt will save you. Research shows that Seat Belts saved
more than 75,000 lives from 2004 to 2008 ( Seat Belt Safety, Seat Belt Laws ).
Without the mandatory use of seat belts, many lives could be put in danger and
this would have negative social and economic effects on society. 49 States in the
USA have issued mandatory seat belt laws to promote safe habits and to protect the
people. With this law in place, many lives have been saved as people were forced to

Dress Code Pros And Cons
Dating all the way back to the 1960 s beginning with the Tinker vs. Des Moines
court case dress code has been a major controversy between schools and students
across the united states causing many disputes. While some people argue that it limits
student s ability to express themselves, others will rebuttal that it is a way of keeping
the school environment more safe and limits the amount of bullying. While both
sides point out many good points, it still continues to be a constant issue that no
one can agree on. One of the most common reasons you ll hear when asked about
why dress codes are put into effect is to try and stop the bullying going on in the
school. First let s get it straight that dress codes can mean many sorts of things like if
they have to wear a school uniform, or how long girls skirts can be, or if hats are
allowed etc. Many people will say that having everyone dressed in the same clothes
doesn t give kids an opportunity to make fun and bully someone because of what
they re wearing. If we could stop bullies from tormenting us merely by changing our
clothes, we would surely have done so a long time ago. (Huffington Post) The
opposing side then takes the claim that even if schools enforce a dress code, kids can
still get bullied for the way they look like; how they do their hair, or how they do
their makeup. Changing the dress code and forcing kids to wear the same thing limits
the amount of bullying, but doesn t stop it states Tony Volk (Uniforms don t
Homosexuality and Billy Elliot Essay

thus his insecurity and shyness? . Those advocating that Billy is gay would argue
that his cold and affirmative No, that s ok shows that he has no interest in the
female sex. They would also argue that as Billy has been without a female role
model for most of his life, due to his mother s death, he has become dependant on
male figures and this could potentially spill into his more intimate relationships.
Billy s affirmation that I m not a poof could also be met with some degree of
scepticism. Is Billy just repeating the prejudice of his
Prevention Of Service Attacks And Remedies
Abstract
The purpose of this paper was to research denial of service attacks and remedies that
can be used as defense mechanisms to counter these attacks. A denial of service
(DoS) attack is characterized by an explicit attempt by attackers to prevent legitimate
users of a service from using that service (Malliga Tamilarasi, 2009). The attack
demonstrates using both known and potential attack mechanisms. Along with this
classification important features of each attack category that in turn define the
challenges involved in combating these threats will be discussed. The typical defense
system is using only the currently known approaches. A denial of service attack
deploys multiple machines to avert attacks. Then the service is denied by ... Show

A denial of service attack on a network could take one of three possible forms
(Razmov Juels, 2000). A malicious party (the attacker) could cause the network
not to transmit messages it should be sending in order to offer service to a subset
or all of its clients. On the other end of the spectrum, the network could be caused
to send messages, which it should not be sending. By far the most common form of
DoS in today s networks is causing excessive bogus traffic (a.k.a. flooding the
network) in the direction of a particular server, which in the end will prevent
legitimate users from getting the service they could otherwise be receiving from that
server. A simple DoS attack can be implemented by sending a multitude of
simultaneous requests to a service which will saturate with network flows making it
impossible for the server to answer the entire request. The attack continues to plague
the internet protocol (IP) networks. DoS can result in significant loss of time and
money got many user and organizations (Perrig Song, 2001).
Wireless Local Area Networks (WLAN) have gained popularity compared to wired
network due to its low cost and easy layouts. WLAN are used worldwide by users,
corporations, and educational environments. Attackers can use any of several
methods to get inside a computer with so many doors to protect and new hacking
techniques constantly being developed, it s difficult to keep safeguards
Water Of Life Christian School Reflection
This school year at Water of Life Christian School has been amazing. Being a student
at Water of LIfe. Throughout the school year, I made memorie through school with
people who ve left an impact on me and have grown.
This school year has been amazing and filled with many highs and specific things
we ve worked on. Some of the highs from this school year were some of the field
trips we took. In the beginning of the school year, we went to Hume Lake which was
a fun time deepening my relationship with God and building friendships stronger.
Some more highs were when we visited Western Christian High School, Etiwanda
High School and California Baptist University. More highs from this school year are
having chapels, advisements, Rosetta Stone, Leadership, chromebooks, ... Show more

I have memories from going to Hume Lake. When I was at Hume Lake, I felt like
my relationship with God was grew and I was learned in the Lord. I made some
good memories with my friends. At Hume Lake, my friendships built and united.
In our daily classroom, I ve made memories with those in the class and we ve made
jokes with the teachers students. I ve had great times with those in the class.
Many people at Water of Life Christian School have left an impact on me. For
example, the teachers have left an amazing impact on me. The teachers have
taught me so many things and taught me some life impacting lessons about God.
The teachers have helped lead me into growing my relationship with God.There
are many teachers who ve left an impact on me and just a few are Mrs.
Semanovich, Mrs. Kavan, Mrs. Fallon, Mr. Zekri, and Mrs.Belk. Also, my friends
have left an impact on me. My friends have been there for me, been right by my
side, supported me, encouraged me, made me laugh, and have helped me through
hard and good times. THroughout this school year at Water of Life Christian School,

Teaching Methods Essay
1.Discuss the reasons for selecting the teaching methods used.
In the micro teach session delivered to my peers at college as part of an Assessment,
I chose to use the following teaching methods: * Initial assessment * Brainstorming *
Group work * Differentiation * Constructivist teaching.
Science is a practical subject that requires an academic approach. The methods used
are to promote active learning strategies that engage the student.
As I already teach at KS4, I assumed that this particular group would already be at
the level of teaching and learning in my class, although I did consider initial
assessment methods in my planning. I set out the learning objectives and learning
outcomes so that each ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the methods I used was to allow the students to share their knowledge with
each other through mind mapping and then through working together on a true /false
questionnaire.
2.Critically discuss two of the teaching methods used and examine each one in terms
of their strengths and weaknesses.
The first method I would like to discuss is the constructivist approach an active way
of building on students knowledge, ensuring students use and apply the knowledge
given. In my view this method covers all the positive points for exploring a specific
subject, by using the method of the students building their own interpretations of the
information given, as Petty explains: What does it mean exactly to have a full grasp
of a new topic, and to be able to use your learning successfully even in new situations?
(Petty 2004, p. 7), going on to explain the theory behind Bloom s taxonomy, a
hierarchy of learning and putting the attributes to learning in order. In simple terms,
the knowledge a student requires at the beginning is rather basic; then
comprehending the knowledge means that a student has been able to move on by
understanding and explaining.
Once a student has comprehension they (with the help of a teacher) can apply that
comprehension. For example, during the micro teach session once I had given an
overview of the heart, students were able to complete a questionnaire. I could see
from the answers that they had gained

Essay Of Animal Farm. Animal Farm - review. - GCSE English - Marked by Teachers.com

  • 1. Essay Of Animal Farm Crafting an essay on the subject of "Essay of Animal Farm" can be quite challenging for various reasons. First and foremost, George Orwell's "Animal Farm" is a seminal work of literature that delves into complex themes such as power, corruption, and the nature of authority. Consequently, any essay on this topic requires a deep understanding of the text and its historical context. Moreover, analyzing "Animal Farm" necessitates navigating allegorical elements that represent real-world events and figures, primarily the Russian Revolution and its aftermath. Unraveling these layers requires a keen analytical eye and the ability to draw parallels between the fictional farm animals and their human counterparts. Furthermore, crafting an original and insightful essay on "Animal Farm" demands more than just summarizing the plot or regurgitating well-known interpretations. It requires critical thinking skills to explore lesser-discussed aspects of the text or offer fresh perspectives on its themes and characters. Additionally, writing about "Animal Farm" often involves addressing its relevance to contemporary society and political landscapes. This adds another layer of complexity as it requires the writer to draw connections between Orwell's dystopian farm and current events, which demands both knowledge of current affairs and a nuanced understanding of Orwell's intended messages. They also excel in community engagement. The shows they televise help raise awareness of environmental threats to their viewers. Between their documentaries and their partnership with Oceana, Discovery excels in spreading awareness of wildlife endangerment. Where the company lacks is in sustainability. They do not produce a sustainability report or talk about how the company helps the environment. Based off what I saw on CSRHub, the company is a bit behind when it comes to sustainability. Other Fortune 500 companies have stronger sustainability practices in place. Since Discovery Communications is only a cable network and they do not produce physical goods, it may be more difficult for them to have the same policies as other companies. You would imagine that the network in charge of channels like Animal Planet would have more info on how the company itself takes care of the environment but unfortunately that information is not readily available. • 6. Maslow Connections Summary Maslow Connections Response The sneetches video includes many of Maslow s principles. Maslow expresses that there are certain needs that need to be met for a human, or sneech, to survive. His hierarchy of needs include: physiological needs, safety needs, love and belonging, esteem, and self actualization. In the video there are two different groups of sneetches, the plain ones and the ones with a star on their tummies. Maslow s ideas are put into play here because the plain sneetches were neglected of their love and belonging needs. They felt left out and not cared for. Additionally, they showed low self esteem and all the plain sneetches had lower social statuses compared to the star bellied sneetches. Later in the video, the plain sneeches transform into star bellied sneeches so they could feel loved and included; however, the star bellied sneetches then removed their stars so they could be the dominant breed and have more power and advantages over the other sneetches. • 9. Radiocarbon Dating Accurate Radiocarbon dating, which is quite often referred to as Carbon 14, or C14, is probably used the most of all absolute dating techniques. The method is used to date all sorts of artifacts including bones, cloth, and wood, in addition to plants. For artifacts up to about 50,000 years old, it is one of the most specific methods of dating available. In the late 1940 s, C 14 was developed by Willard Libby. Archeologists use this dating method, which is the standard in the scientific industry to this date. According to the Kelly Long in Why is Radiocarbon DatingImportant to Archeology, In 1948, American chemist Willard Liberty, who worked on the development of the atomic bomb, published the first set of development in absolute dating in archeology... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is an objective method that provides more accurate ages of artifacts by measuring the amount of C14 present in the artifact and comparing it to an already known reference artifact. According to Michael Gagne, in Dating in Archeology, Following the death of an organism, any exchange ceases and the carbon 14, which is radioactive and therefore unstable, slowly begins to disintegrate at a known rate (half life of 5730 years, ie, after this period only half of the total carbon 14 present at the time of death remains). The amount of carbon 14 remaining in the material to date is compared to a reference standard (ratio 14C/total carbon, 12C and 13C) to calculate the time elapsed since its occurrence. (Gagne, p. 1) This method actually is based on a something that occurs every day on earth and is the foundation of life. Think about it... all living species on Earth including plants and animals exchange carbon dioxide with their environment until they die. Marshall Brain in How Carbon 14 Dating Works describes simply how C14 dating works. Simply said, the way the process works is by measuring the amount of C14 in the artifact, which forms naturally when cosmic rays in the earth s upper atmosphere strike nitrogen molecules and oxidize to become carbon dioxide. Plants then absorb and continually replenish carbon dioxide until the plant dies or it passes onto animals that eat the plants. After the death of the organism, the amount of C14 in the organism or artifact decreases at a regular pace as decaying occurs. Since C14 has a half life of 5,730 plus or minus 40 years, the object loses half of its C14 about every 5,700 years. Once the organism dies, it stops taking on new carbon so the ratio of C12 to C14 is the same for every organism. Therefore, the age of and artifact can be determined fairly accurately if scientists compare the ratio of C12 to C14 in an artifact and compare it to the ratio in a

The combination of black and burgundy made me feel powerful, reckless, and confident because I was subverting and redefining social norms. I felt like a man, but the rest of society saw me differently. In our society nail polish is for women. Painting nails is a beauty practice that embraces femininity and womanhood. Several summers ago I was at a friend s house playing volleyball with a few people. Does it bother you that you are so white? asked a girl who I did not even know. I dropped the ball and stared at her with a blank expression. All that was running through my mindwas, Does it bother you that you are so obnoxious? But of course this thought was not vocalized. I simply kept playing volleyball. But soon after I established questions. Does it bother me? Should it bother me? I went home that day and glared at myself in the mirror. Then it struck me, I was whiter than most people were. This one stranger s comment made me question myself. I began to over analyze and as time passed by my self esteem plummeted. I thought that maybe if I had been born with sun kissed skin, my family and friends would not judge me. Then, I began wearing makeup to not look as sickly as people made me out to be. I developed a sudden yearning to go down to the shore all the time to try to get some type of color. But then one day, I studied my mom s face. Her smooth, glowing, and porcelain skin made me wonder. I was curious as how a woman at her age could look ten years younger. My mom shared the specific ingredient to maintaining beautiful skin. I was especially close to the neighborhood kids; ever since I could talk they came over almost every week. I wondered if my new neighborhood would be like this. The engine vroomed to life and away from the beautiful, old house we went. In less than ten minutes, we arrived at my new house. The front was undeniably gorgeous. The grass was not the yellowish brown brought on from the drought, instead it was a lively green that I had dreams about running in. The fall leaves around the trees enhanced the feeling of Christmas soon to come and the stairs leading up to the front door were clean. They had no muddy footprints that I was so used to seeing on my concrete. I walked up the steps slowly. I had a half witted hope that if I moved slow enough I d end up back at the Azusa house. I didn t move slow enough. I walked through the doorway and into a corridor type area
  • 23. O Brien and Fossie in The Things They Carried Essay When many think of a great, memorable story, they will probably remember an inspirational or coming of age novel, or Bildungsroman. In many ways, The Things They Carried is an exemplary Bildungsroman as it carries the reader through the lives and problems of every soldier within its pages. Each man is witnessed as he goes through his own maturation and personal times of struggle and hardships. Some are focused on more than others, but each man has a story to tell, each a moral to teach. Throughout The Things They Carried, both Tim O?Brien and Mark Fossie experience a significant amount of personal maturation by gaining new knowledge about themselves, the VietnamWar, and the world around them. When O?Brien is shot and calls for Bobby Jorgenson to come to his aid, he realizes that Jorgenson is too afraid to help his fellow soldiers out. O?Brien writes that he then felt a deep hatred for Jorgenson and wants to get him back. On the brink of a maniacal outburst against the new medic, O?Brien writes, ?I?d come to this war a quiet, thoughtful sort of person?, but after seven months in the bush I realized that those high, civilized trappings had somehow been crushed under the weight of the simple daily realities. I?d turned mean inside? (200). Here, O?Brien conveys to the reader that Vietnam had taken over nearly his entire body and personality, causing him to transform into an unrelenting, savage being. O?Brien learned that wars can change people, as the Vietnam War changed him. When Mark Fossie realizes that Mary Anne, along with the six Green Berets, has gone off into the jungles the previous night, he learns that the Vietnam War is a merciless trap that can take anybody or anything and transform it into something unrecognizable. He learns that the war has the power to completely change even somebody like his sweet girlfriend, Mary Anne. This insight causes Fossie to feel sorrow. ?The grief took (Fossie) by the throat and squeezed and would not let go? (105). Gaining common knowledge is one thing, but learning about the world and its contents during a single time frame
  • 24. Magical Realism In Edgar Allen Poe s Fall Of The House... One of the scariest experiences of my life was when Hayden was climbing a mountainside. Hayden went to grab a plant to help myself up, but it ripped out. When that happened Hayden s brother had caught Hayden s arm and helped Hayden up because if Hayden had fallen, Hayden was most likely going to die. This scenario relates to gothic literature; because I was in a bleak setting and it relates to magical realism because for some reason, my brother, caught me at the perfect time. These genres are similar in that they both use supernatural events in the story. However, Edgar Allen Poe s Fall of the House of Usher is an example of gothic literature because it tells you how the story ends; while Julio Cortazar s House Taken Over is an example of magical realism because it discusses historic facts with a mysterious feeling. Hayden s scariest experience can best be described as an experience which are examples of the potential tragedies found in Gothic and Magical Realist genres. In his most celebrated and discussed poem The Striders Ramanujan forcefully puts forward the inevitability and indispensability of animals and insects in our life when he deploys a water bug as the metaphor to represent his poetic ideas: Thin stemmed, bubble eyed water bugs See them perch on the dry capillary legs Weightless on the ripple skin of a stream (The Striders, p. 03. • 29. Animal Morality And Master Morality agiarNietzsche is one of the most famous, complex, baffling, and misunderstood philosophers of all time. Nietzsche begins his ethics with the proposition that there are only two basic types of morality: slave morality and master morality. These types of morality Nietzsche proposes were initially formed when society was not actually made up of masters and slaves. In a society where masters were completely free and slaves simply had to do whatever their masters said. Based on their respective situations Nietzsche argues these two groups of people came up with two very different types of morality. Now of course there are no longer literal masterand slaves in today s society. However nietzche proposes well masters and slaves no longer exist but the moral system they came up with do. Therefore if we are to understand and evaluate morality as it exists today, we must investigate morality as it was originally defined by master and slaves. Masters are totally free. They do what they want, to whom that want, and whatever they want. How it is such a person in such a situation begin to think about morality. Nietzsche proposes a person in such a situation would begin by saying that whatever it is the approval of our desire is good. Some fluently, some only a singular note or, maybe a song. This all started out in sixth grade when I could not decide what instrument was best for me. I started out my first two months of middle school by switching from instrument to instrument. I began with the oboe, and a week later, I changed to percussion. Only then, did I attempt to play all of the brass instruments and I mean all of them trumpet, french horn, tuba, trombone, and baritone, you name it, and I ve probably played it. Next, I moved on to all of the woodwinds, flutes, clarinets, and all of the saxophones. Again, I cycled through the percussion instruments once again. Finally, I decided that I would rather play notes on a staff than beat something with a stick. I was forced, by my very irritated band teacher, to pick one of the two that I was better at, the alto saxophone or the trumpet. Two completely different musical instruments in two completely different musical families. Of course, as an indecisive twelve year old, I could not pick. Mr. Deneen, a woodwind player himself, chose the alto saxophone. The alto saxophone has stuck with me for many years six, to be exact. My sixth grade year I became really good at playing my saxophone. I went from indecisiveness to first chair in a matter of weeks. In fact, I was so talented that I was moved up into the eighth grade band as a sixth grader.

One of the most common reasons you ll hear when asked about why dress codes are put into effect is to try and stop the bullying going on in the school. First let s get it straight that dress codes can mean many sorts of things like if they have to wear a school uniform, or how long girls skirts can be, or if hats are allowed etc. Many people will say that having everyone dressed in the same clothes doesn t give kids an opportunity to make fun and bully someone because of what they re wearing. A malicious party (the attacker) could cause the network not to transmit messages it should be sending in order to offer service to a subset or all of its clients. On the other end of the spectrum, the network could be caused to send messages, which it should not be sending. By far the most common form of DoS in today s networks is causing excessive bogus traffic (a.k.a. flooding the network) in the direction of a particular server, which in the end will prevent legitimate users from getting the service they could otherwise be receiving from that server. A simple DoS attack can be implemented by sending a multitude of simultaneous requests to a service which will saturate with network flows making it impossible for the server to answer the entire request. The attack continues to plague the internet protocol (IP) networks. DoS can result in significant loss of time and money got many user and organizations (Perrig Song, 2001).
