Bus Service Is The Most Common Vision
Bus service is the most common vision that comes to mind when one thinks about
Urban Public transportation. The Bloomington Normal area uses Connect Transit,
which has multiple buses and routes throughout the area. Although the Connect
Transit system is very helpful for most students, allowing us to go to the mall with
friends, visit target for food and needed items, or visiting the downtown, it can also
prove to be extremely difficult and stressful for people who would have to rely
everyday on it. After riding the busfor more than an hour, making two transfers
along the way and visiting multiple neighborhoods, I came to realize why a stigma
regarding public transportation exists. Public transit situates is so that we are
given license to accept what s right in front of us, but will likely arouse our desire
to compare our narrative to someone else s, to give ourselves permission to
speculate upon a person s private space, or life, with no fear of recourse or
punishment (Wilson, 2012). In order to view the barriers that low income people
face on a daily basis when it comes to riding the bus, I rode the available public
transportation, allowing for detailed observation.
I arrived at the Normal Uptown Station at 4:50, prepared to take the Orange H bus
through Normal, to Eastland mall. I knew that the bus would be arriving at 55
minutes past the hour, so I looked up and down the row of already parked buses,
and when I did not see the Orange, I sat down on one of the
American Fur Trading Company and John Jacob Astor
The American Fur Company and John Jacob Astor
I.Introduction Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely (Lord
Acton). John Jacob Astor was a man that had absolute power during his era and used
his power and wealth to benefit himself and not the social fabric of society . Astor
lived during the time of a post revolutionary America which allowed him to build a
monopolist empire with little restraint from government or society. Starting out in
American as a young German immigrant, John Jacob Astor became involved in the
fur trading business without ever having set a trap (Stokesbury) and eventually built a
fur trading company that extended across the United States and into Canada and made
him the richest man in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He was the personification of monopoly, determined to rule or ruin, wrote historian
Hiram Martin Chittenden in 1903. And he was thoroughly hated even by those who
respected his power (Crossen). The issue arises should one person be able to control
that much power and isn t held accountable for the use of that power to society? One
complicated issue of the American Fur Company reign was its impact on the
expansion of the United States westward. It strongly influenced the history of the
west, not only making way for permanent settlements but by also opening the Great
Lakes commercial fishing, steamboat transportation, and trade in that area
(Stokesbury). But was the benefit derived from this westward expansion justified by
the extraction that took place against its stakeholders or those it affected? Is injustice
every justified?
III.Analysis of Issues Astor, in his desire for more money and greater profit,
completely disregarded the needs of the people his actions affected. This lack of
social responsibility was the American Fur Company s worst offense. His was
constantly looking for ways to improve his financial bottom line. Whatever means
were needed to increase his company s hold on the American fur trading industry was
permissible. When Astor learned that President George Washington was having the
government set up fur trading posts to be run with benevolent policies , which would

Karl Marxs Estranged Labor Essay
Karl Marx s Estranged Labor nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;In Karl Marx s early
writing on quot;estranged labor quot; there is a clear and prevailing focus on the
plight of the laborer. Marx s writing on estranged labor is an attempt to draw a stark
distinction between property owners and workers. In the writing Marx argues that
the worker becomes estranged from his labor because he is not the recipient of the
product he creates. As a result labor is objectified, that is labor becomes the object
of mans existence. As labor is objectified man becomes disillusioned and enslaved.
Marx argues that man becomes to be viewed as a commodity worth only the labor
he creates and man is further reduced to a subsisting animal void of any capacity of...

Because the worker is denied any nurturing in his work no intimacy between the
worker and his work develops. Lacking an intimate relation with what he creates
man is summarily estranged from his labor. (2) Labor estranges man from himself.
Marx argues that the labor the worker produces does not belong to him, but to
someone else. Given this condition the laborer belongs to someone else and is
therefore enslaved. As a result of being enslaved the worker is reduced to a
quot;subsisting animal quot;, a condition alien to him. As an end result man is
estranged from himself and is entirely mortified. Marx points to these to situations
as the reason man is essentially estranged from his labor. The incongruency
between the world of things the worker creates and the world the worker lives in is
the estrangement. nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;Marx argues that the worker first
realizes he is estranged from his labor when it is apparent he cannot attain what he
appropriates. As a result of this realization the objectification of labor occurs. For
the worker the labor becomes an object, something shapeless and unidentifiable.
Because labor is objectified, the laborer begins to identify the product of labor as
labor. In other words all the worker can identify as a product of his labor,
Salem Witch Trials And The Witch Trial Essay
From 1692 to 1693, twenty people were executed after being accused of witchcraft
in Salem Village, Massachusetts, many more died in jail, and around 200 people
total were accused of witchcraft during the Salem Witch Trials. Records from the
event indicate that the Salem Witch Trials started when a group of young girls
began acting strange, claiming they had been possessed by the Devil and bewitched
by local villagers. The SalemWitch Trials is a much debated event; historians argue
over the motivation and causes behind the trials and executions, not over the
proceedings. Each historian approached the Salem Witch Trials with their own
brand of logic and interpretation building off of and criticizing the interpretations of
their predecessors. No one historical theory can conclusively explain the cause of
the Salem Witch Trials because there were too many variables and motivations
among the villagers. These historians used the best of their abilities to examine the
events of the Salem Witch Trials and the mere fact that there are so many
interpretations means there are not certainties when it comes to this historical event.
However, a combination of their theories could provide a better picture of the Salem
Witch story and the many aspects in determining the outcome of the Salem Witch
Trials. Charles W. Upham, George Kittredge, Paul Boyer, Stephen Nissenbaum,
Linnda Caporael, Carol Karlsen, Peter Charles Hoffer, and Emerson Baker are all

Analysis Of The Love Song Of J. Alfred Prufrock
J. Alfred Prufrock is not your standard heroic alpha male. He is a representation of the
typical modern man. Prufrock is overeducated, fearful, timid, overly sensitive, and
graceful. Throughout the poems, he continuously ponders lost opportunities and
unanswered questions. This is the modern man, not strong and silent but weak and
accessible. He represents the modern man by openly displaying disappointment and
vulnerability. The modern man has lost sight of the quality of life and the truly
important things in life. The character, J. Alfred Prufrock, represents all
characteristics of a modern man; He is obsessed with his appearance and how much
and how fast he is aging.
The poem The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock by T.S. Eliot centers on an aging,
insecure middle aged man. The action described in the poem takes place in the
evening in a dreary part of a foggy city. The exact location remains unknown, but it
is believed to be the City of London, or St. Luis. However, Eliot most likely
intended the setting to be any city, anywhere. The speaker of this ironic monologue
is a modern, urban man who, like many of his kind, feels lonely and incapable of
making a decision and acting upon it. Irony is apparent in the title since this is not a
predictable love song. Prufrock would like to speak and love a woman, but he does
not because of his insecurities and fear of rejection. Since the reader is overhearing
his thoughts, the poem seems rather confusing at first. But Prufrock

Use of the UH 72A Lakota on the Southwest Border Mission As the political
landscape in the United States continues to include increasing levels of immigration

My Experience With Forensics
I swear I don t spend my Saturday s cutting up dead people. That s usually one of
the first things I end up explaining to people when I tell them I do forensics. I ve
had many of great experiences with forensics throughout my years competing, as
well as a few that were less than ideal, to say the least. The combination of the two
has been a large part of who I am though, and I wouldn t trade the experience for
anything.
As an awkward kid with a penchant for funny voices, I was naturally drawn to
forensics in high school. Forensics is an acting and speaking competition where
students compete in various events. It s also the only place you ll see lines of
people screeching at a wall, and no one thinking twice about it. My freshman year I
realized I wasn t very good at speaking by myself, but had a knack for performing
with another person. Because of this, Duo has been an annual event in my forensics
career. This year, I partnered up with Emma Price.... Show more content on

We also determined that neither of us was very responsible about planning ahead.
This was particularly put on display when, two weeks before the first meet, we still
hadn t unearthed a piece to compete with. After reading through a fair number of
pre cut pieces we weren t fans of, we determined that we d cut our own piece from a
YouTube series entitled A Very Potter Musical . As you can undoubtedly tell from
the title, the piece was a musical spoof of the Harry Potter series. We cut the piece
completely and read it for our coach Summer Ford. After getting the green light to
go ahead and block our movements for the piece, we procrastinated another week
before having a marathon blocking session in the Price and Sons Funeral Home
basement. The final part of the piece that we penned was the intro, which we finally
wrote down a few days before competing. Needless to say, neither of us felt very
prepared to compete by that
The Difference Between Voluntary And Forced
Resignations...
Voluntary versus forced resignations of directors Voluntary resignation of directors
A resignation of employment introduced by the employee or by mutual agreement
with the employer in which a letter of resignation is submitted. In most cases of
voluntary resignation, employees will provide notice of their intent to resign to
allow for a more orderly transition of responsibilities. Forced resignation of directors
A forced resignation is when an employee is required to depart from their position
due to some issue caused by their continued employment or may be due to the
employer s wishes to dismiss the employee, but the employer may be offering a
softened firing. In a high profile position the employee may want to leave before the
press is learned more negative information about one s controversial nature.
Differences between voluntary and forced resignations Agency One of the main
differences between voluntary and forced resignation is who gives the resignation of
employment. Both voluntary and forced resignation signify that the employment
will end, but when someone is forced to resign it means that the employer has
decided to sever the employment. The employer can sever employment for any
reason, so long as it is not based on issues of race, religion or the sex of the
employee. The employee can be cut for numerous reasons such as a new employment
opportunity or ongoing investigations of the employee. Together with Rajaratnam,

The Importance Of Seeing The Philadelphia Orchestra...
Last year I had the privilege of seeing the Philadelphia Orchestra perform Gustav
Holst s: The Planets Suite. The piece as a whole is one that pulls the strings of
your heart from the first pound to the last mystic moment of silence. It has been a
year since I heard the orchestral piece in full, and ever since, I have been awaiting
to get an opportunity like that again. It is unfortunately a rare occurance in my
generation to feel so strongly about a piece of art. The world is at our fingertips, and
yet we have no urge to explore it.
According to Gustav, the Planets were a depiction of life and the many stages of its
progression. As a young adult and musician this suite inspired a new way of seeing,
feeling, and hearing life. Thierry Fischer, a music director at Utah Symphony wrote,
Holst denied that the suite has any connection to the classical Zodiac other than the
names and traits of the personified planets, that connection by itself is enough for the
music to conjure strong images of the mythological deities associated with each.
Mars, the bringer of war, begins with five quiet yet dominant beats in a reverberating
5/4 rhythm. As the movement continues we hear the grinding minor chords, which
leaves the ear unsettled. Mars is said to be an obvious illustration of war, the
depressing and frightening steady march of soldiers as they walk toward the
unknown. Throughout the entire movement there is no clear harmonic release, the
chromaticism just sways back and forth.
Opium Poppy Drug Heroin
Heroin Heroin is a widely used opioid, a study done in 2007 by the National Survey
on Drug Use and Health found that there are 153,000 heroin users in the United
States, however other studies have found this number to be much higher
(Foundation for a Drug Free World.). Heroin can be in a powder or liquid form
ranging in color from white to black (HeroinFacts. (2017, August)). Heroin comes
from the Opium Poppy plant, once it grows it is cut open and a white liquid comes
out of it which is later turned into Morphineby adding hot water. After the morphine

12 Angry Men Prejudice
One common theme in 12 Angry Men is prejudice affecting a jury. In the play, a
boy is arrested and placed on trial for the murder of his father. Due to prejudice,
most of the jurors immediately think he is guilty because of his race and where he
is from. 12 Angry Men truly exhibits what the 1950s justice system looked like.
Through the storyline, prejudice is seen as a way of using stereotypes to explain
how people behave. Reginald Rose shows how prejudice can affect the way people
think. Throughout the play, the juryplays the role of prejudice in the courtroom and
how preconceptions can sway whether a defendant is guilty or not guilty. Juror #10
says such things like, They re violent, they re vicious, they re ignorant, and
The Nonconformity Of Albert Einstein
Have you ever heard of nonconformity? I got a better question. Have you ever heard
of Albert Einstein? Well, Albert Einstein was a nonconformist born on March 13,
1879, he was born in the south of Germany in the city of Ulm. His family was
middle class. Albert Einstein and his family were Jewish. Albert Einstein was
known for making theories and how smart he was. He represents nonconformity by
the way he acted and by the way he dressed the way he had his hair and how he had
little interest in money. A nonconformist is a person who stands out in society.
Albert Einstein showed he was a nonconformist by the way he acted and how he
treated other people. Albert Einstein was super rude to his peers and did not show
a lot of respect to anyone. He often disagreed with what other people said. Albert
Einstein once actually got into a really bad argument with one of his peers when
talking about science. This lead to him getting sent out of the science fair. Ever
since Albert Einstein was little he would have an interest in science and math. He
lacked in the amount of respect he had towards people he knew. Albert Einstein didn
t care who you were he treated all the people the same no matter what. This is a
quote by Albert Einstein I speak to everyone in the same way, whether he is the
garbage man or the president of the agreement with the way things were and how
things were authorized.Albert Einstein also said the quote Unthinking respect for

Chivalry In Sir Gawain And The Green Knight, And
Thomas...
Knights often had a certain chivalry code that they had to follow, in (Sir Gawain
and the Green Knight) and (Morte D Arthur) by Sir Thomas Malory their are
examples of chivalry. Knights often had a certain code they had to follow usually
relating to religion, moral, and social code. This system kept the knights usually
under strict order. The knights had many expectations for following this certain code,
and many of them took it seriously. In (Sir Gawain and The Green Knight) and (Morte
D Arthur) there s three main points that knights must follow for their chivalry code,
religion, moral, and protecting women.
The first example of the chivalry code is in (Sir Gawain and The Green Knight)
where the knight has to follow religion. These knights often had a very good rep
for the things they followed. For they were very strict when it came to most things,
religion being one of the top things they always followed. Gawain the knight gets
put into a situation where he is tested by religion. While Gawain is staying at the
castle the Lord s wife comes to seduce him. She fails for a few nights, but
eventually the Knight gives in to his moral code and does things he shouldn t have

Let s say that the situation will continue like it is now, none of the 2 mentioned
dangers happening, other thing can become a real pain for Export Brands
International: I am referring here at the fact that consumers are increasingly shifting
away from mass produced beers towards high quality, classier, and locally produced
craft micro brews. Or the fact that Japanese consumers will be tempted to buy
affordable domestic brands due to the economic downturn. As because Corona is the
top seller in the Export Brands International portfolio, their revenues and profitability
will be seriously affected.
Not to say the fact that right now, Corona is not the only Mexican beer present in the
Japanese market, now being under direct attack by a series of other Mexican beer
that have high marketing budgets. To maintain the position, Export Brands
International is forced to pump heavily in the investment marketing budget , much
more than the others as Corona must change and reinvent itself. Export Brands
International must come with something new trying once again to differentiate as in
the beginnings, now being a lot harder.
The situation can even explode for Export Brands International, as large beers

balloons, radars, and satellites to gather information about the tornado/storm. With the
data given from the equipment, meteorologist are able to predict storm paths. When
using equipment like the doppler radar, scientists have to identify if tornadoes may
form. When looking at a doppler radar, a tornado may look like a hook, that s... Show

A rain free base is a dark cumulous cloud base with no precipitation below it, rain
free bases usually mark the updraft of a thunderstorm. An inflow band is when low
cumulus clouds start to outstretch from the storm, when this usually happens, the
storm will be starting to gather low level winds from about 7 miles away, this
shows that there may be a swirling motion happening. A beaver tail cloud is a flat
cloud that usually expands from the east edge of a rain free base, if the flat cloud
goes around the south edge of the rain free base, this may pose as a swirling
motion. What is a wall cloud? Well, a wall cloud is a cloud that is lowering while
connected to the rain free base. Wall clouds produce tornadoes that can last up to
10 20 minutes. A condensation funnel is made up of drops of water and once it
starts to extend down from the base of the thunderstorm, if ever it touches the
ground it forms into a tornado, if not, it is still a regular funnel. A rear flank
downdraft is a rush of air that s going down behind the storm that descends with a
tornado. The rear flank downdraft causes the hook echo on a doppler radar. For a
funnel cloud to form, a convection of hot air has to set a motion within the clouds to

Sacrificial Lambs for Others Betterment
Why do many people today call an individual whom they admire both a hero and a
role model when these two words actually represent the different meanings?
Dictionary.com formally defines a hero as a man of distinguished courage or ability
admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities while Merriam Webster recognizes a
role model as someone who another person admires and tries to be like ( Hero, par. 4;
Merriam Dictionary, par. 3). Although these definitions sound extremely
homogeneous, several distinct contrasts lie in each person s motives and attitudes
toward his peers. Oftentimes, many ambiguities arise when people consider anybody

The United States Civil War Essay
The United States Civil War can be considered as one of the darkest times in
American history. The Southern states were fighting for their way of life, and the
Northern states were fighting to preserve the Union. The war had begun in the year
of 1861, and it would end in 1865 with the capture of Jefferson Davis and surrender
of Robert E. Lee. The war had begun at the battle of Fort Sumter. After this battle, the
newly elected Abraham Lincoln called for volunteers to join the Union forces. In
1862, Union and Confederate forces would meet again at the battle of Fort Henry and
Donelson. With the Union succeeding at pushing the Confederate forces further back
into the South, General Grant and his army made their way down the Tennessee
River. The forces would meet again at the Battle of Shiloh and Pittsburg Landing.
There have been many arguments supporting the theory that the Confederacy did in
fact win at the Battle of Shiloh. Although the Union lost more troops at this battle,
the Confederacy failed in many ways. In order to determine how exactly they failed,
it is important to study what the goal of the Confederacy was at Shiloh and whether
or not they accomplished this goal. In this essay, the Confederacy s goals for
attacking Grant s troops at Shiloh and their failure to accomplish those goals will
show just how unsuccessful the Confederate army truly was at this battle.1
There had been decades of tension between the Southern and Northern states of
America. The

Is conflict something one responds to in the present with constructive actions, or do
prior efforts make the difference between conflict and resolution? Some people react
to spur of the moment situations in unusual ways. In the Nobel Prize Acceptance

displays a phenomenon that beneficial actions are necessary to settle similar disputes.
Constructive measures like these are the stepping stones that shape the outlook on

result in unwanted formalities, but also cause repetition of this act. The best way to

The Can Being Happy Change Your Personality article states, People with different
personality traits tend to experience different degrees of subjective well being . .
.individuals who are more extraverted, agreeable, conscientious, and emotionally

Someone with a high level of personality or well being find more hope during

The Mafia
The term Mafia came from a Sicilian Arabic slang expression that means acting as a
protector against the arrogance of the powerful, according to Selwyn Raab, author
of Five Families: The Rise, Decline, and Resurgence of America s Most Powerful

Heart Of Darkness Inhumanity
Joseph Conrad s novella, Heart of Darkness, represents a tremendous shift in the
perception of humanity as failing to have met the expectations and moral standards
that seemed possible. The novella is set in the latter part of the nineteenth century, a
time when imperialism and racism was immensely prevalent. Crucial to the novella is
the realisation that there is minimal difference between supposed civilised people and
those depicted as savages.
Throughout Heart of Darkness, there are blatant acts of brutality that transform
Marlow s perception of humanity. These barbaric experiences lead Marlow to
question the expectations and moral standards existing at that time. As Marlow
explores the area around the Company s station, he recognises that the natives could
by no stretch of imagination be called enemies. It is in this moment that he
understands the full extent of the mistreatment and exploitation of ... Show more

that seemed possible, with many characters breaking down physically and mentally
in the environment of Africa. The novella depicts the way in which someone so
placid can transform into the very definition of a monster when stripped of the law.
This is evident in a scene whereby Fresleven, the gentlest, quietest creature that ever

over a misunderstanding about some hens. From this horrific event, it is clear to
Marlow that in an uncivilised world, there is potential for immense darkness. This
leads Marlow to question what lies in the heart of humanity when placed under
extreme conditions. As a result, it can be seen that Heart of Darkness represents a

This is a question I tend to wonder about when I m stuck in a situation, and it seems
to shift me in the right direction. Equally important, teamwork has taught me how
to be a successful leader. Through team work I learned that some people are
leaders, and others are followers, and that is okay! It taught me that I work well as
a leader, and am good at giving people tasks. Working with other people can be
difficult, but I learned how to overcome those obstacles and be a more exemplary
person. Also I learned, through school, that by leading a team, I am working and
motivating my group. To illustrate, a precocious girl is put with a group of her peers
to finish a project. The girls group was extremely unmotivated and did not want to
work on the project. The girl took it upon herself to give everyone an individual
job, and inspired them to work. This is a prime example to show how teamwork
and work to create a successful leader. Lastly, teamwork through sportsmanship has
taught me to put in extra effort to get the results I want. Elbert Hubbard once stated

turn to glorious success. I ve learned that in order to have a strong team, you need to
put superfluous work. You cannot expect to get a maximum amount of results with a

The Effects Of Post Colonialism On Social Mobility Essay
Back in the days when the effect of post colonialism was still real, education was
only affordable to the whites and the upper class families. This brought about the
hierarchy of power where the wealthy capitalist accessed first class education for
their children, and basically excluding the low class children from this system of
education (Croxford 372). This, therefore, leads to inequality to social mobility,
where the lower class members have less opportunity for social mobility. Mainly due
to the fact that individuals from traditional schools belong to that particular social
class, and their opportunity is purely based on their background character. Currently,
this is said to be true due to the differences in culture, class, education systems and
different opportunities in social mobility. This paper will, therefore, focus on the
effects of education on social mobility.
Firstly, due to socioeconomic background of different individuals, those from the
low class background are less likely to complete their high school, and for those
who do, high chances are they do not go to universities. The lower class
individuals, who successfully enroll in universities, are less likely to complete, and
very few get to graduate. This consequently increases the gap between the lower
class individuals and the middle and upper class individuals. The education and
social mobility also relate to; where the parents of students in a high class school
always have high expectations on good

Sarcasm is an example of non literal language use. It is one of the challenges that

Although the make up of the Mob is based on respect, members usually kill their

he is the one who controls all of the power because in the Mafia the rule of law is

but it must also contend with the hungrier drug syndicates from Latin America and

Foreshadowing In The Pancakes Sparknotes
Everybody wants to be perfect. People want to have control of their lives, yet life
does not work that way. In the short story, Pancakes, Joan Bauer wrote about, Jill,
the main character, controlling her work at a pancake house. One Sunday when
Jill was working, a group of tourists arrived at the pancake house. Jill was the only
waitress working so she had to balance her perfect work as customers come in. Jill
tries to do her perfect way, but with customers in and out of the restaurant, the
stress she has makes her fail at being perfect. The author s overall argument in
Pancakes is that it is impossible to be perfect through the use of foreshadowing,
simile, and the first person point of view. Sometimes, life does not go as one
expects. Bauer used foreshadowing for predictions, to what Jill had said about her
life on how she always has controlof it. Jill explains to the readers about her work
day on how it usually goes like and explains why it is good to have control in life.
Jill adds herself to the reason why she wants everything to be in her control
because of her experience so far, I never lose control (83). Jill tells readers that she
never lost control of her life because she always used her perfect ways to manage
her life. The reason why the author says this is to foreshadow was to have a
prediction that Jill will lose control later on in the story. The foreshadowing had
told us that she never loses control, but yet at the end of the story she gets
overwhelmed. The control she had on her job, can not be controlled without help
from another person. Foreshadowing helps the reader have predictions on how
Jill could not control her life, even if she tried, and also using similes can help a
reader see what Jill feels like. Being perfect is impossible to handle so Bauer uses
similes to describe Jill in how she handles her life. To have descriptive images,
Bauer used similes to describe Jill when she is working to make readers understand
how being perfect is like. When Jill was explaining how her job goes like in a day,
she used her memory to tell the readers. The author had used a simile to how Jill
acted, ... watching my station like a hawk, keeping the coffee brewing, getting the

mixed in a vial and put through tests to give a product that can then be analyzed
using gas chromatography. This experiment was performed to show how a radical
hydrogenation reaction works with alkanes. Four isomers were attained and then
relative reactivity rate was calculated. 1,1 dichlorobutane had 2.5% per Hydrogen; 1,2
dichlorobutane had 10%; 1,3 dichlorobutane had 23%; and 1,4 dichlorobutane had

the GC was cut off too soon. In the example, the last peak came up around retention
time 8.5. According to this data, GC was cut off around retention time 8.0. Another
issue is that the second peak, 1,2 dichlorobutane to be precise, is very little. That is
it is not even registered in the data. Due to not having the full data, the example GC
run is used for this lab report. 1,1 dichlorobutane has 2 2МЉ H s. It is expected from
mathematical stand point that 16.7% of the product will be it. In reality that was
not what happened. After the experiment, according to GC data, 1,1 dichlorobutane
had 5% of the product. That is a pretty big difference; it is a lot smaller than
expected. It is the first product to show up on the graph, as expected. According to
the handout, a major boiling point of 1,1 is at 114МЉ. The next three are at higher
boiling points, and that is how it is known which peak is which product. The
relative reactivity rate is 2.5% per Hydrogen. Since there is only two Hydrogens and
only 5% for this product, each Hydrogen gets 2.5% chance
On Death And Dying By Dr. Elizabeth Kubler-Ross
Terminal illness is an incurable disease that cannot be effectively treated and is
plausibly expected to result in the death of a person within a short period of time.
When someone is terminally ill, they are said to be actively dying. This brings about
an entire different set of emotional and mental states of mind. Dr. Elizabeth Kubler
Ross, a Swiss American psychiatrist and forerunner in near deathstudies, wrote a
book titled On Death and Dying where she explains that once someone knows death
is close at hand, they go through several distinct psychological stages in response.
After she studied hundreds of terminally ill patients and conducting interviews and
studies with them, she came up with five stages of psychological responses to dying.
They include in this order: denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance....

loved ones and their own self. They may be concerned with the people that they will

under a separate scope.
End users are those individuals walking in the company stores, ordering a smoothie

ambiance is. This buyer segment does not purchase large amounts of product at one
time and likely chooses Jamba because of the quality of the ingredients. With no

Communities located along the Strait of Juan de Fuca are being affected by

reverse the effects it has made. This hidden thing is the pollutants humans have

dumping of sewage, the leaking of industrial waste, and the flushing of household

We can therefore conclude that negative side effects from water contamination extend
to rural areas where dumping sites may not be present.
When we look at the fish along the Strait we seem to see the same results. In a
study done on Toxic Contaminants in Dungeness Crab (2014), they found mercury
and PCB s or Polychlorinated Biphenyls in multiple different species of fish, two
of the species being Chinook and Coho, which is consumed by community s along
the Sound (Carey, Niewolny, Lanksbury West). PCB s were used for electrical
equipment in the past. The manufacturing of PCB s was stopped in 1977. However,
there is evidence that shows PCB builds up in the environment ( PCBs ). This shows
the impact waste can have decades after it has been mitigated, and why it is important
to stop any further damage.
Next there are shellfish beds that have been shut down due to their toxicity levels
along the Strait. The Washington Department of Health (DOH), has a map that

Yeezus Kanye Analysis
Intro
Yeezus is probably best summed up by the first sound you hear after turning it on. A
deafening distorted synth assaults your ears while Kanye reminds us that he s
number one. This overwhelming introduction was specifically chosen by Kanye for
the purpose of conveying the themes of anger and frustration that will appear
throughout the album. It s marked by songs where Kanye declares himself a God and
moments of the most extreme egoism in modern music.
Ye is...shockingly different. It begins with a quiet passage of what I think is
manipulated vocals creating a simple, relaxed melody. Kanye starts rapping about
something we ve never really heard him discuss before: his internal monologue. It
sounds calm, like a warm summer morning. Kanye isn t yelling, he s not telling us
how much of a legend he is. Instead he s painting a picture of his struggle with
mental illness. So how the hell are these two albums related? Despite the massive
chasm between them in production, lyricism and presentation...I see them as two
sides of the same coin and together they create a beautiful narrative about who
Kanye is as a person. Let s learn more. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Titled I Thought About Killing You, it s at first a confusing listen until you consider
that the person Kanye wants to kill is his ego. He s starting to resent the manic
persona he s become known for over the years, and the whole of this rather short
eighth album is a revocation of his past transgressions as a larger than life
Community Is The Goal Oriented Community
A community is an interacting group of various species and abiotic things that live
within the same location. Each community is different due to being comprised of
unique organisms and inanimate objects. The basic unit of community relies on
survival. As stated by de Waal, the primate community is a prime example which
displays how we perform innate behaviors to ensure our survival. The next level of
community is the goal oriented community. Goal oriented communities strive to
bring about change in their communities whether it be for better or worse. The goal
oriented community can be allotted into different categories. One type of an
ambitious community is that of associations as described by Tocqueville. The other
goal oriented community is that of the revolutionary community. This community
attempts to raise awareness about injustice found in a community and urges that
members of the community fight to make injustice cease to exist. The final stage of
community ends with the community that cares for the environment as a whole. Not
only does it care for the living thingsthat reside in the community, but it appreciates
the nonliving things that are found in the community as well. The nature loving
community recognizes that everything within the community is necessary to have
and to care for. Each of these communities start with having the need for survival but
become more complex until they are able to incorporate love in their communities.
The foundation for most
The Ron Clark Story
The Ron Clark Story is such an inspirational movie in my opinion. I feel that this
movie shows what dedication in teaching is all about. It shows that teachers care
and have chosen their career in order to make a difference. Ron Clark was an
outstanding teacher who was said to be able to raise test scores in any schoolhe taught
at. However, instead of choosing a simple, private school that already has high test
scores, he chose to teach in an area where students were really struggling. He chose
to help those that really needed it. The Ron Clark Story, in my opinion, is all about
how much of a difference teachers can really make. I believe that teaching
excellence comes from two different things, dedication and the desire to help
others. Teachers who are dedicated to their students and classrooms are definitely
going to be excellent and never give up at what they do. Teachers who have a great
desire to help their students and their career will continue to do everything they can
to make sure their students receive what is needed. The two characteristics that
make an excellent teacher are dedication and the desire to help others. I believe
dedication is important when teaching because if a teacher is not dedicated to his or
her classroom, then how will their students learn? If a teacher is dedicated to the
class, then I believe that they will excel at making sure their students are receiving a
tremendous education. Dedication is all about never giving up and devoting a large
amount of effort to whatever is being done. If teachers never give up on their
students and devote their greatest effort in helping their students succeed, then I
believe they will excel at teaching. I also believe that an important part to be an
excellent teacher is the desire to help others. If a teacher did not have the want to
help others, then obviously, it would be difficult for them to help students succeed.
Students need help, it should be a teacher s number one priority to help their
students. Some may not ask for help and some may need more help than others,
however, teachers who get angry or annoyed with students when help is asked of
them, will not be successful. Therefore, desire to help others is very important when
Sleeping Vs Cosleeping
The first year of infancy is always a debate on benefits or risks of sleeping solitary
versus cosleeping, and bed sharing. The present longitudinal study attempted to shed
further light on linkages between sleep arrangement use across the first year
postpartum, infant parent sleep, and family functioning, in a central Pennsylvania
sample (Crosby, Kim, Shimizu, Titi, 2016). Unlike previous studies, this present
study examines linkages between infantsleep arrangements, sleep quality, and family
functioning across five different age points in an infant s first year of life. They also
captured the fluidity of different patterns for sleep arrangements (e.g., consistent
solitary sleep, early cosleeping that switched to solitary sleep by 6 months).... Show

The articles information was all over the place and not clearly separated. At the end
of the study, the author s state that the mother s filled out an infant sleep diary every
morning across the full week of observations. This would have been helpful to know
in the procedure section of the article.
The present study lacked evidence in the design and measures. They were insufficient
to address issues of causality. Marital and family stress were first measured at the end
of the infant s first month leaving them unaware of parenting and family dynamics
that may have unfolded during the infants first month and what impact that may have
had on the sleep arrangement choices, parents perceptions of martial adjustment, and
co parenting. More sensitive and time intensive approaches beginning during the
infants first few weeks of life may better address the design.
Overall, the study was very interesting. The authors , studying family studies and
human development, really explained their reasoning on doing this research. They
were able to find answers to all their hypothesis but the study still requires for
research. It is nice to find some answers on a major debate if it is good for you to
allow your baby to cosleep with you and knowing all the

  • 2. Bus Service Is The Most Common Vision Bus service is the most common vision that comes to mind when one thinks about Urban Public transportation. The Bloomington Normal area uses Connect Transit, which has multiple buses and routes throughout the area. Although the Connect Transit system is very helpful for most students, allowing us to go to the mall with friends, visit target for food and needed items, or visiting the downtown, it can also prove to be extremely difficult and stressful for people who would have to rely everyday on it. After riding the busfor more than an hour, making two transfers along the way and visiting multiple neighborhoods, I came to realize why a stigma regarding public transportation exists. Public transit situates is so that we are given license to accept what s right in front of us, but will likely arouse our desire to compare our narrative to someone else s, to give ourselves permission to speculate upon a person s private space, or life, with no fear of recourse or punishment (Wilson, 2012). In order to view the barriers that low income people face on a daily basis when it comes to riding the bus, I rode the available public transportation, allowing for detailed observation. I arrived at the Normal Uptown Station at 4:50, prepared to take the Orange H bus through Normal, to Eastland mall. I knew that the bus would be arriving at 55 minutes past the hour, so I looked up and down the row of already parked buses, and when I did not see the Orange, I sat down on one of the
  • 3. American Fur Trading Company and John Jacob Astor The American Fur Company and John Jacob Astor I.Introduction Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely (Lord Acton). John Jacob Astor was a man that had absolute power during his era and used his power and wealth to benefit himself and not the social fabric of society . Astor lived during the time of a post revolutionary America which allowed him to build a monopolist empire with little restraint from government or society. Starting out in American as a young German immigrant, John Jacob Astor became involved in the fur trading business without ever having set a trap (Stokesbury) and eventually built a fur trading company that extended across the United States and into Canada and made him the richest man in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He was the personification of monopoly, determined to rule or ruin, wrote historian Hiram Martin Chittenden in 1903. And he was thoroughly hated even by those who respected his power (Crossen). The issue arises should one person be able to control that much power and isn t held accountable for the use of that power to society? One complicated issue of the American Fur Company reign was its impact on the expansion of the United States westward. It strongly influenced the history of the west, not only making way for permanent settlements but by also opening the Great Lakes commercial fishing, steamboat transportation, and trade in that area (Stokesbury). But was the benefit derived from this westward expansion justified by the extraction that took place against its stakeholders or those it affected? Is injustice every justified? III.Analysis of Issues Astor, in his desire for more money and greater profit, completely disregarded the needs of the people his actions affected. This lack of social responsibility was the American Fur Company s worst offense. His was constantly looking for ways to improve his financial bottom line. Whatever means were needed to increase his company s hold on the American fur trading industry was permissible. When Astor learned that President George Washington was having the government set up fur trading posts to be run with benevolent policies , which would require goods
  • 4. Karl Marxs Estranged Labor Essay Karl Marx s Estranged Labor nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;In Karl Marx s early writing on quot;estranged labor quot; there is a clear and prevailing focus on the plight of the laborer. Marx s writing on estranged labor is an attempt to draw a stark distinction between property owners and workers. In the writing Marx argues that the worker becomes estranged from his labor because he is not the recipient of the product he creates. As a result labor is objectified, that is labor becomes the object of mans existence. As labor is objectified man becomes disillusioned and enslaved. Marx argues that man becomes to be viewed as a commodity worth only the labor he creates and man is further reduced to a subsisting animal void of any capacity of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because the worker is denied any nurturing in his work no intimacy between the worker and his work develops. Lacking an intimate relation with what he creates man is summarily estranged from his labor. (2) Labor estranges man from himself. Marx argues that the labor the worker produces does not belong to him, but to someone else. Given this condition the laborer belongs to someone else and is therefore enslaved. As a result of being enslaved the worker is reduced to a quot;subsisting animal quot;, a condition alien to him. As an end result man is estranged from himself and is entirely mortified. Marx points to these to situations as the reason man is essentially estranged from his labor. The incongruency between the world of things the worker creates and the world the worker lives in is the estrangement. nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;Marx argues that the worker first realizes he is estranged from his labor when it is apparent he cannot attain what he appropriates. As a result of this realization the objectification of labor occurs. For the worker the labor becomes an object, something shapeless and unidentifiable. Because labor is objectified, the laborer begins to identify the product of labor as labor. In other words all the worker can identify as a product of his labor,
  • 5. Salem Witch Trials And The Witch Trial Essay From 1692 to 1693, twenty people were executed after being accused of witchcraft in Salem Village, Massachusetts, many more died in jail, and around 200 people total were accused of witchcraft during the Salem Witch Trials. Records from the event indicate that the Salem Witch Trials started when a group of young girls began acting strange, claiming they had been possessed by the Devil and bewitched by local villagers. The SalemWitch Trials is a much debated event; historians argue over the motivation and causes behind the trials and executions, not over the proceedings. Each historian approached the Salem Witch Trials with their own brand of logic and interpretation building off of and criticizing the interpretations of their predecessors. No one historical theory can conclusively explain the cause of the Salem Witch Trials because there were too many variables and motivations among the villagers. These historians used the best of their abilities to examine the events of the Salem Witch Trials and the mere fact that there are so many interpretations means there are not certainties when it comes to this historical event. However, a combination of their theories could provide a better picture of the Salem Witch story and the many aspects in determining the outcome of the Salem Witch Trials. Charles W. Upham, George Kittredge, Paul Boyer, Stephen Nissenbaum, Linnda Caporael, Carol Karlsen, Peter Charles Hoffer, and Emerson Baker are all experts in their selected fields. They
  • 6. Analysis Of The Love Song Of J. Alfred Prufrock J. Alfred Prufrock is not your standard heroic alpha male. He is a representation of the typical modern man. Prufrock is overeducated, fearful, timid, overly sensitive, and graceful. Throughout the poems, he continuously ponders lost opportunities and unanswered questions. This is the modern man, not strong and silent but weak and accessible. He represents the modern man by openly displaying disappointment and vulnerability. The modern man has lost sight of the quality of life and the truly important things in life. The character, J. Alfred Prufrock, represents all characteristics of a modern man; He is obsessed with his appearance and how much and how fast he is aging. The poem The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock by T.S. Eliot centers on an aging, insecure middle aged man. The action described in the poem takes place in the evening in a dreary part of a foggy city. The exact location remains unknown, but it is believed to be the City of London, or St. Luis. However, Eliot most likely intended the setting to be any city, anywhere. The speaker of this ironic monologue is a modern, urban man who, like many of his kind, feels lonely and incapable of making a decision and acting upon it. Irony is apparent in the title since this is not a predictable love song. Prufrock would like to speak and love a woman, but he does not because of his insecurities and fear of rejection. Since the reader is overhearing his thoughts, the poem seems rather confusing at first. But Prufrock

  • 9. My Experience With Forensics I swear I don t spend my Saturday s cutting up dead people. That s usually one of the first things I end up explaining to people when I tell them I do forensics. I ve had many of great experiences with forensics throughout my years competing, as well as a few that were less than ideal, to say the least. The combination of the two has been a large part of who I am though, and I wouldn t trade the experience for anything. As an awkward kid with a penchant for funny voices, I was naturally drawn to forensics in high school. Forensics is an acting and speaking competition where students compete in various events. It s also the only place you ll see lines of people screeching at a wall, and no one thinking twice about it. My freshman year I realized I wasn t very good at speaking by myself, but had a knack for performing with another person. Because of this, Duo has been an annual event in my forensics career. As you can undoubtedly tell from the title, the piece was a musical spoof of the Harry Potter series. We cut the piece completely and read it for our coach Summer Ford. After getting the green light to go ahead and block our movements for the piece, we procrastinated another week before having a marathon blocking session in the Price and Sons Funeral Home basement. The final part of the piece that we penned was the intro, which we finally wrote down a few days before competing. Needless to say, neither of us felt very prepared to compete by that
  • 10. The Difference Between Voluntary And Forced Resignations... Voluntary versus forced resignations of directors Voluntary resignation of directors A resignation of employment introduced by the employee or by mutual agreement with the employer in which a letter of resignation is submitted. In most cases of voluntary resignation, employees will provide notice of their intent to resign to allow for a more orderly transition of responsibilities. Forced resignation of directors A forced resignation is when an employee is required to depart from their position due to some issue caused by their continued employment or may be due to the employer s wishes to dismiss the employee, but the employer may be offering a softened firing. In a high profile position the employee may want to leave before the press is learned more negative information about one s controversial nature. Differences between voluntary and forced resignations Agency One of the main differences between voluntary and forced resignation is who gives the resignation of employment. Both voluntary and forced resignation signify that the employment will end, but when someone is forced to resign it means that the employer has decided to sever the employment. The employer can sever employment for any reason, so long as it is not based on issues of race, religion or the sex of the employee. The employee can be cut for numerous reasons such as a new employment opportunity or ongoing investigations of the employee. Together with Rajaratnam, Gupta was removed from his position of

The piece as a whole is one that pulls the strings of your heart from the first pound to the last mystic moment of silence. It has been a year since I heard the orchestral piece in full, and ever since, I have been awaiting to get an opportunity like that again. It is unfortunately a rare occurance in my generation to feel so strongly about a piece of art. The world is at our fingertips, and yet we have no urge to explore it. According to Gustav, the Planets were a depiction of life and the many stages of its progression. As a young adult and musician this suite inspired a new way of seeing, feeling, and hearing life. Thierry Fischer, a music director at Utah Symphony wrote, Holst denied that the suite has any connection to the classical Zodiac other than the names and traits of the personified planets, that connection by itself is enough for the music to conjure strong images of the mythological deities associated with each. Mars, the bringer of war, begins with five quiet yet dominant beats in a reverberating 5/4 rhythm. As the movement continues we hear the grinding minor chords, which leaves the ear unsettled. Mars is said to be an obvious illustration of war, the depressing and frightening steady march of soldiers as they walk toward the unknown. Throughout the entire movement there is no clear harmonic release, the chromaticism just sways back and forth.

After this battle, the newly elected Abraham Lincoln called for volunteers to join the Union forces. In 1862, Union and Confederate forces would meet again at the battle of Fort Henry and Donelson. With the Union succeeding at pushing the Confederate forces further back into the South, General Grant and his army made their way down the Tennessee River. Working with other people can be difficult, but I learned how to overcome those obstacles and be a more exemplary person. Also I learned, through school, that by leading a team, I am working and motivating my group. To illustrate, a precocious girl is put with a group of her peers to finish a project. The girls group was extremely unmotivated and did not want to work on the project. The girl took it upon herself to give everyone an individual job, and inspired them to work. This is a prime example to show how teamwork and work to create a successful leader. Lastly, teamwork through sportsmanship has taught me to put in extra effort to get the results I want. Elbert Hubbard once stated A little more persistence, a little more effort, and what seemed hopeless failure may turn to glorious success. I ve learned that in order to have a strong team, you need to put superfluous work. You cannot expect to get a maximum amount of results with a minimum amount of endeavor. Working with a team of people
  • 31. The Effects Of Post Colonialism On Social Mobility Essay Back in the days when the effect of post colonialism was still real, education was only affordable to the whites and the upper class families. This brought about the hierarchy of power where the wealthy capitalist accessed first class education for their children, and basically excluding the low class children from this system of education (Croxford 372). This, therefore, leads to inequality to social mobility, where the lower class members have less opportunity for social mobility. Mainly due to the fact that individuals from traditional schools belong to that particular social class, and their opportunity is purely based on their background character. Currently, this is said to be true due to the differences in culture, class, education systems and different opportunities in social mobility. This paper will, therefore, focus on the effects of education on social mobility. Firstly, due to socioeconomic background of different individuals, those from the low class background are less likely to complete their high school, and for those who do, high chances are they do not go to universities. The lower class individuals, who successfully enroll in universities, are less likely to complete, and very few get to graduate. This consequently increases the gap between the lower class individuals and the middle and upper class individuals. The education and social mobility also relate to; where the parents of students in a high class school always have high expectations on good

Mafia Essay The Mafia way of life may seem like a romantic updated version of the western movie played out on the streets of the big cities where the good guys and the wise guys who share the same instincts and values do battle before an enthralled public but it is actually very different. The Mafia is really just a group of uneducated thugs making moneyby victimizing the public. Initially, the Mafiawas setup as a prominent supplier of bootlegged liquor, but it has spread into many different areas of crime. • 34. Foreshadowing In The Pancakes Sparknotes Everybody wants to be perfect. People want to have control of their lives, yet life does not work that way. In the short story, Pancakes, Joan Bauer wrote about, Jill, the main character, controlling her work at a pancake house. One Sunday when Jill was working, a group of tourists arrived at the pancake house. Jill was the only waitress working so she had to balance her perfect work as customers come in. Jill tries to do her perfect way, but with customers in and out of the restaurant, the stress she has makes her fail at being perfect. The author s overall argument in Pancakes is that it is impossible to be perfect through the use of foreshadowing, simile, and the first person point of view. Sometimes, life does not go as one expects. Bauer used foreshadowing for predictions, to what Jill had said about her life on how she always has controlof it. Jill explains to the readers about her work day on how it usually goes like and explains why it is good to have control in life. Jill adds herself to the reason why she wants everything to be in her control because of her experience so far, I never lose control (83). Jill tells readers that she never lost control of her life because she always used her perfect ways to manage her life. The reason why the author says this is to foreshadow was to have a prediction that Jill will lose control later on in the story. The foreshadowing had told us that she never loses control, but yet at the end of the story she gets overwhelmed. The control she had on her job, can not be controlled without help from another person. Foreshadowing helps the reader have predictions on how Jill could not control her life, even if she tried, and also using similes can help a reader see what Jill feels like. Being perfect is impossible to handle so Bauer uses similes to describe Jill in how she handles her life. To have descriptive images, Bauer used similes to describe Jill when she is working to make readers understand how being perfect is like. When Jill was explaining how her job goes like in a day, she used her memory to tell the readers. The author had used a simile to how Jill acted, ... watching my station like a hawk, keeping the coffee brewing, getting the pancakes

Radical Halogenation and Gas Chromatography RADICAL HALOGENATION AND GAS CHROMATOGRAPHY Abstract In radical halogenations lab 1 chlorobutane and 5% sodium hypochlorite solution was mixed in a vial and put through tests to give a product that can then be analyzed using gas chromatography. This experiment was performed to show how a radical hydrogenation reaction works with alkanes. Four isomers were attained and then relative reactivity rate was calculated. 1,1 dichlorobutane had 2.5% per Hydrogen; 1,2 dichlorobutane had 10%; 1,3 dichlorobutane had 23%; and 1,4 dichlorobutane had 9.34% per Hydrogen. Introduction Alkanes are relatively unreactive. There are only a few types of reactions commonly performed. In this lab, halogenation was performed. In the methane molecule, the... Reading from the handout that was posted online with an example GC run, the fourth peak is not on the graph because the GC was cut off too soon. In the example, the last peak came up around retention time 8.5. According to this data, GC was cut off around retention time 8.0. Another issue is that the second peak, 1,2 dichlorobutane to be precise, is very little. That is it is not even registered in the data. Due to not having the full data, the example GC run is used for this lab report. 1,1 dichlorobutane has 2 2МЉ H s. It is expected from mathematical stand point that 16.7% of the product will be it. In reality that was not what happened. After the experiment, according to GC data, 1,1 dichlorobutane had 5% of the product. That is a pretty big difference; it is a lot smaller than expected. It is the first product to show up on the graph, as expected. According to the handout, a major boiling point of 1,1 is at 114МЉ. The next three are at higher boiling points, and that is how it is known which peak is which product. The relative reactivity rate is 2.5% per Hydrogen. Since there is only two Hydrogens and only 5% for this product, each Hydrogen gets 2.5% chance

On Death And Dying By Dr. Elizabeth Kubler-Ross Terminal illness is an incurable disease that cannot be effectively treated and is plausibly expected to result in the death of a person within a short period of time. When someone is terminally ill, they are said to be actively dying. This brings about an entire different set of emotional and mental states of mind. Dr. Elizabeth Kubler Ross, a Swiss American psychiatrist and forerunner in near deathstudies, wrote a book titled On Death and Dying where she explains that once someone knows death is close at hand, they go through several distinct psychological stages in response. After she studied hundreds of terminally ill patients and conducting interviews and studies with them, she came up with five stages of psychological responses to dying. As noted in the case, Jamba engaged in a growth strategy in 2007 that involved acquisition of a majority of the franchised locations. This approach reduced the franchisee s buying power and allowed Jamba to have the upper hand. With the downturn of the economy forthcoming, franchise demands would likely deteriorate. • 42. Community Is The Goal Oriented Community A community is an interacting group of various species and abiotic things that live within the same location. Each community is different due to being comprised of unique organisms and inanimate objects. The basic unit of community relies on survival. As stated by de Waal, the primate community is a prime example which displays how we perform innate behaviors to ensure our survival. The next level of community is the goal oriented community. Goal oriented communities strive to bring about change in their communities whether it be for better or worse. The goal oriented community can be allotted into different categories. One type of an ambitious community is that of associations as described by Tocqueville. The other goal oriented community is that of the revolutionary community. This community attempts to raise awareness about injustice found in a community and urges that members of the community fight to make injustice cease to exist. The final stage of community ends with the community that cares for the environment as a whole. Not only does it care for the living thingsthat reside in the community, but it appreciates the nonliving things that are found in the community as well. The nature loving community recognizes that everything within the community is necessary to have and to care for. Each of these communities start with having the need for survival but become more complex until they are able to incorporate love in their communities. The foundation for most
  • 43. The Ron Clark Story The Ron Clark Story is such an inspirational movie in my opinion. I feel that this movie shows what dedication in teaching is all about. It shows that teachers care and have chosen their career in order to make a difference. Ron Clark was an outstanding teacher who was said to be able to raise test scores in any schoolhe taught at. However, instead of choosing a simple, private school that already has high test scores, he chose to teach in an area where students were really struggling. He chose to help those that really needed it. The Ron Clark Story, in my opinion, is all about how much of a difference teachers can really make. I believe that teaching excellence comes from two different things, dedication and the desire to help others. Teachers who are dedicated to their students and classrooms are definitely going to be excellent and never give up at what they do. Teachers who have a great desire to help their students and their career will continue to do everything they can to make sure their students receive what is needed. The two characteristics that make an excellent teacher are dedication and the desire to help others. I believe dedication is important when teaching because if a teacher is not dedicated to his or her classroom, then how will their students learn? If a teacher is dedicated to the class, then I believe that they will excel at making sure their students are receiving a tremendous education. Dedication is all about never giving up and devoting a large amount of effort to whatever is being done. If teachers never give up on their students and devote their greatest effort in helping their students succeed, then I believe they will excel at teaching. I also believe that an important part to be an excellent teacher is the desire to help others. If a teacher did not have the want to help others, then obviously, it would be difficult for them to help students succeed. Students need help, it should be a teacher s number one priority to help their students. Some may not ask for help and some may need more help than others, however, teachers who get angry or annoyed with students when help is asked of them, will not be successful. Therefore, desire to help others is very important when
