Nazy Atrocities in the Movie Defiance
Defiance is not a typical holocaust movie, although there are scenes of Nazi atrocities, the story
is more about those Jews who escaped the German camps and fought back for their freedom. It
is based on a true story of the Bielski brothers, they led thousands of Jews to hide from the
Germans in the forests of Nazi occupied Belarus, and they managed to keep them alive for
several years. This movie is historically very accurate except for minor issues that happened in
the movie. The Bielski brothers were actually aggressive with each other to show power over the
rescued Jews, but what was not accurate that the film suggests Asael was much younger than the
other two, he was actually only two years younger than Tuvia, while Zus was four years younger.
In the film, Tuvia kills one of the police officers that killed his parents which was true but he did
not go into emotional distress because of it, he was sending a message that who would kill
Jewish people will be killed too and the fact he killed many others before this officer it did not
matter to him. What was also accurate, in Eastern Europe, the Nazis didn t immediately send
Jews to concentration camps, instead, they created walls around each city, where Jews were
forced to work as slaves, and kept in terror by frequent executions. Until the walls were destroyed,
the Bielskis had many plans to rescue the Jews and guide them to their camp in the forest. It was
daring from the brothers as they had a heave price for

My Idea Of Success And Becoming A Neonatal Nurse
My idea of success may be different from others. I believe that being successful is not only
reaching your goals, but also trying to reach them in the first place. The key to being successful
is to never give up. I plan to become successful by graduating college and becoming a neonatal
nurse. The first step in achieving my overall goal is to make good grades in my classes. Getting
into nursing school can be challenging since there are a large number of people applying and
only a few spots available. It In order for me to get into nursing I must make all A s and B s so I

Strategic Customer Management And Solutions
For strategic customer management and solutions selling, a firm s entire core processes need to be
aligned and working collaboratively to create and deliver value to both the customer and the firm
as a whole.
Within Avaya marketing and sales are very separate functions with each focused on their own tasks
and objectives. This is evident from the funnels which are completely separate and identify no
overlap between the functions. It appears that each team has developed processes in isolation,
meaning that there is no alignment or collaboration between the groups.
One of the key hurdles standing in the way of effective demand generation is the leads generation
process. The case study highlights that the prospects from the marketing team were viewed in terms
of a set of criteria, however this criteria appears to be set by the marketing team and varied greatly
across different markets. This is in contract to the leads generated by the sales team who spent a lot
of time upfront assessing the attractiveness of an opportunity by really understanding the prospect
company, their interest level and how Avaya could provide a solution. This gap between the lead
qualification process results in the sales team spending considerable time requalifying any leads
from the marketing team to understand what the customers problem is and what an Avaya solution
would look like (this is not an efficient use of their time). In order to make strategic choices about
your customers, all relevant teams

Spring Day Poem Analysis
Spring day by Elise is an English cover of the original version by BTS. It is written in first person
but can be applied to the audience s personal experiences. The song explores the ideas of love and
death as it illustrates the grief of losing a friend or loved one.
Throughout the song, winter is shown as a continuous metaphor used to symbolise misery. It s the
salient metaphor of the song as it is repeated and constantly referenced. The composer chose to
display winter in a more cold, lonesome and depressive manner. The surrounding cold of winter that
seems to never disperse illustrates the lack of warmth and happiness in his life. This is further
reinforced with the lack of sunlight in the winter.
The line There s no darkness or season that s in store where there will never be an end directly
compares winter to the persona s depression. It explains to the audience that grief, or winter, is not
everlasting, that spring is approaching and the long winter will finally come to an end. It is the start
of when the persona begins to accept the death of his loved one, whereas previously it was
expressed to be a never ending situation of grief, specifically in the line where I am it s always
winter .
Moreover, spring too, is a metaphor, for hope and acceptance and death, that works alongside the
metaphor of winter. Spring is seen as the season of warmth, birth and restoration. The lines Until
spring decides to come again
Until flowers, they bloom again
Please stay where you are and wait for me
Please wait for me explains why it is such an important aspect of this song. Spring is the time in
which the persona may finally reunite with their lost loved one, once reunited, he will no longer be
in misery, however, the lines suggests that they may only reunite after death. Thus spring
symbolises both happiness and death and acceptance.
The image used on slide 8, shows a person walking sadly down a street. On his side of the street it
is winter, on the other side its summer. It the lyric in August it s like December in its metaphorical
aspect to visually demonstrate the intended meaning behind the lyric. Colour symbolises the
emotions of the characters in the image. The persona s side is colourless, to

Fossil Fuels And Alternative Methods Of Generating...
FOSSIL FUELS AND ALTERNATIVE METHODS OF GENERATING ELECTRICITY
What are fossil fuels?
Fossil fuels are natural resources created under the Earth s surface from the remains of ancient
organisms. These organisms include plants and animals and other organic matter.
How are fossil fuels formed?
Millions of years ago most of the land on Earth was covered with swamps and forests. As trees
and plants died, they would sink to the bottom of the swamps. As more trees and plants died their
remains would bury dead plants and organic matter underneath them creating layers of dead plants.
As the layers of rotting material build up in the forests and swamps it is compressed by the heavy
weight of the plants and water. This weight with high temperatures removes the moisture from the
organic decaying matter. This creates peat. Over millions of years peat was covered by sand and
clay and other minerals. These sediments changed into rocks called sedimentary rocks.
Rock continued to pile up and compress the peat. This caused the water to be squeezed from the
peat. Over millions of year this process turned peat into fossil fuels such as natural gas, oil and coal.
Three examples of fossil fuels
Three examples of fossil fuels include:

How are these fossil fuels used in Australia?

Rhetorical Analysis On Teenagers And Tattoos
Millennials Change Culture: A Rhetorical Analysis of On Teenagers and Tattoos Tattoos are usually
a mark or symbol that represents a hidden meaning or is simply a beautiful piece of art. In some
cases, people wait until they are older and more mature to get a tattoo, but recently, America s
teenage culture has been undergoing a massive change. Getting a tattoo at a young age now
represents individualism and uniqueness. A common question that adults have been asking is Why
would teenagers even get a tattoo at such a young and mature age? Andres Martin, a child
psychiatrist, dives into the mind of a millennial teenager in his article On Teenagers and Tattoos.
Martin highlights the recent change by mentioning that teens are progressively becoming more
individualistic and expressive. Andres Martin s overall rhetorical viewpoints were convincing, but
his connotations were confusing at certain points and his evidence was only based on small sample
sizes. In the article On Teenagers and Tattoos, Andres Martin says that Tattoos and piercings have
become a part of our everyday landscape (Andres Martin, 2000, p.143). Suggesting that it is very
common for teens to have piercings and tattoos. That tattoos can also help teenagers form their own
identities. Martin s first argument is that tattoos and piercings offer a solution to the identity crisis
that many teens face today. Since the typical teenage body changes so much, a tattoo is the one
thing that cannot change on the

Photographs Capture Time And Create Meaning
Photographs capture time and create meaning. Mark Klett s Under the Dark Cloth , is a simple,
yet compelling piece of art which captures his experience in Monument Valley, Arizona on May
27th, 1989. The perspective of the photograph is strategic in allowing the viewers to see from Klett
s point of view. This angle places the viewer in the first person, connecting them directly to the
image. Images of landscapes are often engrossing, Klett s piece does this on two planes.
In the text, Visual Methodologies, author, Gillian Rose uses semiotics as a way to make sense of
an image. She defines semiotics as the study of signs and their use or interpretation, or, how
images make meaning (pg. 75). Under close inspection of Mark Klett s Under ... Show more content

Another question could be looked at through the lens of positional communication . Who is
positioned as superior and who inferior? (pg. 82). The photographer makes the audience feel as if
they are a part of the image, giving the audience a connection to the subject of the photograph. This
allows power within the image to be equally distributed and shared between human and nature.
The objects within the image, such as the watch, camera, and dark cloth connote time, preservation,
and reflection. Klett s use of signs give his photo the purpose it needs to remain captivating. Within
Klett s photo, icons, indexes, and symbols are all presented.
The icon most prevalent in the image is the upside down image of Monument Valley. This iconic
image represents that specific rock structure in the valley. This image is also a synecdochal sign, it
is a part of this rocky range, representing the national park as a whole.
The two indexes that stand out immediately are the camera and the dark cloth. When you see a
camera you immediately think of documentation or memories. When we think of something under
the dark cloth or in a dark space we think of referees reviewing a play or the process of developing
a photograph. When someone is under the dark cloth, it is a personal, capturing moment. This sign
is a moment of silence and critical reflection.
The symbols which are presented in the photograph include the camera, watch, and the style of the
photograph.

Mao Zedong and Gender Equality
When Mao Zedong, also translated as Mao Tse tung and by the people, referred to as Chairman
Mao, came to power in 1949[1], Mao s policy of Marxism was pleasing to the Chinese Communism
Party, however it was contradictory to the instruction of Confucianism. Mao s work towards
liberation and his struggle against Confucius innate social system changed the way that Chinas
freedom hungry women were seen through the eyes of traditional Confucius followers in society.
The downsizing of the weak economy and ineffective government system often envelopes an
entire country s dynamic; though the economic side is naturally distorted, often the cultural and
societal behavior follow close behind. While Confucius taught of structured places in society for
every person, peasant and aristocrats[2], Mao tried to take steps towards liberty for all just as
other countries around him had strongly exemplified. Confucius made women out to be such
horrible creatures, only good for cooking, cleaning, and bearing children as some societies then
believed however, Mao tried to increase the female population s freedom and equality in society in
comparison to that of men. Mao s policy of Marxismwas vastly different than Confucian teachings
in that it supported women more and disregarded the class system. Although women in Mao s
China did not achieve full political participation, in his policies, he aimed to overturn the Confucian
social hierarchy and give woman equal opportunities in education and

The Influence Of Female Fashion In The 1920 s
As female fashion in the Western world has evolved since through the 20th century, an exciting
feature has been the evolving exposure of skin. While arms and legs have had their share of
change in exposure and acceptance from early traditional fashion to modern fashion, the exposure
of the midriff has experienced controversy from the early 1900s to now. Midriff exposure has a
history worth looking into in understanding its popularity and prevalence in fashiontoday.
To begin exploration of the topic, the origins of the trend must be determined. Most sources agree
that Madeleine Vionnet officially introduced midriff exposure into high fashion in 1932 with her
haute couture dresses, intentionally cut to reveal the waist. While it was common to see
characters in films baring their midriffs, it was only common to see real women exposing their
midriffs at the beach with two piece bathing suits at this time and into the 1940s. It was not
common at all for women to bare their midriffs in public spaces besides ... Show more content on

In fact, more girls are gaining positivity through daring to bare their midriffs or even their
shoulders in defiance of illogical school dress codes and that more people are feeling liberated by
accepting and loving their bodies. I see the resurgence of the exposed midriff not so much part of a
sexual revolution, but a part of a revolution of acceptance acceptance of gender equality, acceptance
of the beauty of all, and rejection of hate in all forms. Girls who were told to cover up for the
sake of not distracting boys in school or because they were told they were not pretty are now a
part of a positive movement in body love and appreciation. I believe this is a trend to stay,
especially as it was the focus of the Spring Summer 2015 Haute Couture Show by Chanel in Paris,
being brought back into high fashion as well as street

Bases And Bases Of Hinduism
The word Hindu according to Kumar came from the combination of the first letter of the Himalayan
mountain and Bindu Sarov ara and the last compound letter of the word Bindu.
Overview:
Hinduism is considered as the world s third largest religion, it contains thousands of different sects
and groups evolving in India since 1500 BCE because of their Indian traditions, beliefs, tolerant
philosophies and weird point views. By Cristian Violatti: the Hindu insight claims that the Oneness
expresses itself in many different forms . Hinduism is the dominant religion in India and nearby
countries like Nepal and Sri Lanka...It s not a religion as the word it seems but a socio religious
body shape of Indian society with its specific meanings and reflects.
Why it s a heterogeneous religion? Because of the vast variety of languages, lifestyles, dialects and
especially rich geography.
Its manifestations collaborate in exercises such as natural childlike, stories, legends and Yoga that
we know today. Hinduism is the most spreader religion, but not the only in India so there are
different ones among regions and villages and individuals.
Bases of Hinduism:
Foundations and establishments of Hinduism can be found in the teachings of ancient sages or
rishis, it is also associated with other Indian Religions Jainism, Buddhism, and Sikhism.

Type 1 Diabetes Paper
Introduction
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention national diabetes statistics reported
in the United States approximately 5% of the population has type 1 diabetes that s roughly 1.25
million American children and adults. By 2050 5 million people in the US are expected to have
type 1 diabetes. Diabetes kills more Americans every year, more than AIDS and breast cancer
combined
Etiology
Type 1 diabetes is a chronic autoimmune disorder, in which beta cells in the Islets of Langerhans
are destroyed resulting in insulin deficiency and hyperglycemia. The exact cause of why these
normal cells are attacked by the immune system is a combination of genetic predisposition and
certain viral infections such as the mumps and coxosackievirus which appear to trigger the
destruction of pancreatic beta cells. (Ignatavicius Workman, 2013, p 1416) When these cells do
not work properly, the body can no longer produce insulin. Insulin is a hormone that allows the

The kidneys respond to the high levels of glucose in the blood stream by flushing out the extra
glucose in the urine. Another symptom of type 1 diabetes is polydipsia. This happens when you
urinate so often that you lose too much water and become dehydrated. In addition, those who
develop type 1 diabetes may also have polyphagia, an increase in appetite. Often they lose weight
or fail to gain weight as he or she grows, in spite of having a good appetite. This happens due to
the body breaking down the muscle and stored fat in the attempt to provide fuel to the hungry
cells. Those with type 1 diabetes can often feel tired, because the body isn t using the calories they
are eating, and turning it into the energy it needs. Finally, blurry vision can occur when sugar

Benjamin Franklin s The Speech Of Miss Polly Baker
The Speech of Miss Polly Baker Benjamin Franklin s life and writing can easily be used to help
one become a model and picturesque citizen. Throughout time Franklin used many pseudonyms
in his periodical writings in order to make his point known about the fallacies in court rulings of
the colonial times. One of his most famous articles written using a pseudonym were The Speech
of Miss Polly Baker. This story was about a woman that was being prosecuted for the fifth time
for having a bastard child and which one of the judges decided to marry her the next day. It is
believed that Franklin was influenced by this letter because he was a man that had an illegitimate
child, and also had a common law marriage which would allow many people to consider him a
womanizer. However, there are quite a few purposes that help Franklin present The Speech of Miss
Polly Baker. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Franklin obviously felt that the Victorian thoughts of a women being a seductive only to their
husband had become old. However, people of Philadelphia still felt that women seduced their man
by virtue rather than to a complete vice. Throughout his letter there are many challenges of
judicial philosophy. It seemed as if he felt that if he did not speak up for women then society may
ignore the fact that most women were being treated unjust throughout the judicial system. Other
purposes of the pseudonym would be the fact that most women of the eighteenth century were
not capable of being quite as educated as the men of the century. Most women were thought of
as modern day stay at home mothers. If Franklin were to use his given name then he may have
been viewed as a lower class. Also, the perspective of a woman giving a speech would have a larger

Senators, 14 U.S. Representatives, 56 State Senators, and 180 State Representatives. Georgia s
rich history spans nearly three centuries. From military conflicts to flourishing economic items,
Georgia has always been a state that knows how to make the most of any circumstances. Georgia
was primarily uninvolved with the Revolutionary War. However, then the state seceded from the
Union. In 1861, it thrust itself into a war that would take a toll on its people and landscape. After
the war, Georgia was allowed to rejoin the Union in 1870, the last southern state to rejoin.
Georgia regained its footing as a functional state during its reconstruction period, which is 1865
1877. The early 20th century showed Georgia no mercy as the Great Depression settled into the
cities and countryside. Farming suffered from the poor climate (drought) and boll weevil. As
Georgia emerged from the Great Depression, the state found a new area of economic
development called aviation. Georgia became a hub of activity for the airline industry, and by

The Importance Of Save Crisis Management Teams ( Cmt ) Essay
communications best practices and can be divided into three phrases: (1) pre crisis, (2) crisis
response, and (3) post crisis.
Pre crisis Best Practices
The first set of crisis communication best practices, pre crisis, focuses on prevention the act of
seeking to reduce known risks that could lead to a crisis and preparation the act of creating training,
and testing a crisis management plan and crisis management team (Coombs, 2007). Crisis
management plans (CMP) are reference tools (i.e. key contacts information, crisis step reminders,
forms, etc.) that save crisis management teams (CMT) pre selected members of an organization
time during a crisis. Once created, CMPs enable an organization to react quicker and more
efficiently to a crisis. Common members of an organization s CMT include, but are not limited to:
an organization s CEO, Chief of Public Relations, Vice President, Social Media Manager, legal
counsel and Senior Manager in charge of the area involved in the crisis. Collectively, these
members will work together to enact the organization s crisis management plan in order to facilitate
an effective organizational response (Coombs, 2007a). The members will be charged with
gathering facts; identifying specific key publics; preparing and creating key messages (including
self efficacy messages if necessary), preparing and creating media statements and media contact
logs; designating and training spokesperson(s); selecting and designating proper channels of

Betrayal in Death of a Slaesman and Stone Angel
The feeling of having been betrayed by a trusted or important figure in your life can result in
emotional damage, which can eventually lead to personal destruction. Stone Angel by Margaret
Lawrence and Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller, are two works of literature that put that very
statement into context. Although, the theme of betrayal is evident in both pieces, the protagonists
of the different plots Hagar Shipley and Willy Loman experience betrayal in two very different
fashions. Hagar Shipley is destroyed by her loss of independence and Willy Loman is forced into
taking drastic and unnecessary actions. Acts of betrayal are scattered throughout the lives of the
two protagonists. Betrayal put them off the path of life on... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

As Hagar is in her home, she decides she will leave to, Point something? Was it? What s the
point? The name is necessary, essential. For the ticket. [But] Marvin looks after my money. The
account s in his name now. I had forgotten. I haven t a nickel. (Laurence 139) Hagar desires
nothing more than to get away from Marvin and Doris and prove to them she can be
independent. Even as Hagar is on her deathbed, her resentment towards Doris for putting her in
this situation comes out as Doris is passing her a cup of water, Hagar snaps, Of course. What do
you think I am? What do you take me for? Here, give it to me. Oh, for mercy s sake let me hold it
for myself! (Lawrence 308) Hagar s disgust and frustration with her situation comes out even as
she is about to die, as she snarls at Doris. She takes this frustration and rage to her death. The
outcome of her plan to prove her independence ended up being the end of her, similar to that of
Willy Loman and his family. The betrayal involved in his life was what ended his life. When
Willy commits suicide his family is greatly affected, however his son, Happy Loman says that, I
m gonna show you and everybody else that Willy Loman did not die in vain. He had a good
dream. It s the only dream you can have to come out the number one man. He fought it out here,
and this is where I m gonna win it for him. (II, 7) This statement from his son shows that despite all

Similarities Between Plato And Aristotle
Plato versus Aristotle Plato and Aristotle, two philosophers in the 4th century, hold polar views on
politics and philosophy in general. This fact is very cleverly illustrated by Raphael s School of
Athens (1510 11; Stanza della Segnatura, Vatican), where Plato is portrayed looking up to the
higher forms; and Aristotleis pointing down because he supports the natural sciences. In a
discussion of politics, the stand point of each philosopher becomes an essential factor. It is not
coincidental that Plato states in The Republic that Philosopher Rulers who possess knowledge
of the good should be the governors in a city state. His strong interest in metaphysics is
demonstrated in The Republic various times: for example, the similes of the cave, the sun, and
the line, and his theory of the forms. Because he is so involved in metaphysics, his views on
politics are more theoretical as opposed to actual. Aristotle, contrarily, holds the view that
politics is the art of ruling and being ruled in turn. In The Politics, he attempts to outline a way
of governing that would be ideal for an actual state. Balance is a main word in discussing
Aristotle because he believes it is the necessary element to creating a stable government. His less
metaphysical approach to politics makes Aristotle more in tune with the modern world, yet he is
far from modern. Plato s concept of what politics and government should be is a direct result of his
belief in the theory of forms. The theory of forms

Analysis Of A Flower Garden By Li Bai
This poem creates a scene in which the poet, Li Bai is sitting alone under the moonlight as he
sips on his drink and can share his loneliness with no one but the moon and his shadow. By
pointing out that he is at a flower garden with moonlight shined upon him and a pot of wine by his
side, the setting of the poem is rather pleasant and relaxing. The poet, however, appears to be
frustrated because he has no real friends who are there for him. With a quick thought, LiBai decides
to think the moonand his shadow as his companion and meanwhile starts to sing and dance with
them. The fact that neither the moon nor his shadow is animated does not bother Li Bai as he
slowly gets more involved in the atmosphere he created for himself, or, in his words, it makes us
[them] three . From there on, the poet does not care about what other people think of him
anymore and instead starts to live his life the way that will not leave behind any regrets. In order
to achieve such impression and create an image for the readers, Li Bai incorporates myriad
rhetorical devices in the writing of the poem. Out of all techniques being used, imagery is one
that appears throughout the poem. The poem opens up with an image of a flower garden a
which indicates the poet s location and sets the tone for the slight twist in emotion in next
couple of lines of the poem. The poet s mentioning of his loneliness sharply contrasts the setting
in which both wine and flowers are supposed to bring a sense of prosperity and happiness.
Moving on, the fourth and fifth lines express Li Bai s loneliness by creating an image of the
faraway moon and his shadow. The line states that the moon is too far away to enjoy the wine
with Li Bai, and his shadow cannot communicate with or truly comprehend the poet. Li Bai s use
of the phrase creeps about my heels to describe the behavior of his shadow is interesting
thoughtful, showing that even though the shadow is very close to him in distance, Li Bai feels
as if all the shadow does is blindly following him. Considering Li Bai s experience of rejecting the
government official s position in Chang an the capital of China because of his unwillingness to
sacrifice his entire life for the Royals monetary

I became very interested in Greek history after visiting the display of papyrology. The
papyrology collection at the graduate library at the University of Michigan displays some ancient
artifacts of the 4th century and even older showing us what life would of been like in those times.
In this exhibit there was a wooden tablet with school exercises from Egypt used in the 4th century.
The wooden tablet was found in an unknown provenance of Egypt. This extraordinary tablet was
used as a part of elementary Greek school exercises. The tablet features the alphabet written out in
regular and reverse order, on the reverse side of the tablet it shows syllabary consisting of
consonant/vowel combinations. This tablet would have been used in schools in... Show more

It looks like just an old piece of wood with some squiggles in it but it is much more important
than that. This old piece of wood dates back more than 1700 years old. The wood tablet was used
in greek schools for young egyptian children in the 4th century to help them learn the alphabet.
These strange looking lines and shapes engraved on the wood are an example of the alphabet use
in Greek language in the 4th century. It is very interesting to compare our english alphabet and
even the current greek alphabet to these engravings on the tablet. I am amazed that we are able to
read what was written on these tablets even though they are 1700 years old and a completely
different language. These discoveries shown in the exhibition are very valuable in showing how
language has changed yet we still use writing now to express our thoughts and learn other thoughts

Elizabeth Bowen The Demon Lover
Some viewers see Elizabeth Bowen s The Demon Lover as a ghost story. Robert L. Calder essay
on The Demon Lover gives an explanation of the story: he sees it as an allegory representing a

destructive war had taken place. Outside, she sees familiar street unused channel, an unfamiliar

the troubles of the war, but as she returns to London she is reminded by the destructive power. In
this story World War II is the second war endured. Will her surroundings affect her? In A More

William Shakespeare s The Duchess Of Malfi
John Webster s play The Duchess of Malfi is a Renaissance tragedy. Threats lurk the widowed
Duchess and her forbidden husband Antonio. The Duchess s power greedy brothers, Ferdinand
and The Cardinal forbid her sister to remarry. The play is an unconventional Renaissance tragedy
as the protagonist focuses on a female character rather than a male. (Pacheco, 2012, p69) This
essay focuses on Webster s use of distinctive features of language.
This passage is important because it displays the violent and tragic scene of the Duchess s
execution and torture. The scene occurs after the Duchess encounters a theatrical spectacle
delivered by her brother Ferdinand, as his way of punishing and torturing her (Pacheco, 2012,
p169) The dramatic function this serves is that it reveals a violent and painful death to the audience,
made all the more shocking and tragic with her welcoming death and believing, to meet such
excellent company/In th other world. (Webster, 2004, p159) Webster employs dramatic irony at this
point as she thinks Antonio is dead and the audience know this is an act of torture and so this
illustrates the tragedy of the situation.
The extract starts with the Duchess calming Cariola after it is revealed that the Duchess will be
killed and she says, Peace, it affrights not me. (Webster, 2004, p155) Her response is shocking as
death does not affright (Webster, 2012, p155) her and she is attempting to put Cariola s mind at
peace (Webster, 2004, p155) rather than

The Second Shift By Arlie Russell Hochschild

a woman s work within the home. When looking at employed women the term second shift can be
brought to the forefront. The expression second shift refers to the tasks done around the house after

Inequality In Education
Inequality Among Latinos in Academic Achievement in Higher Education
The Latino community has made strides forward when it comes to education. Adriana Kohler and
Melissa Lazarin, analysists for education reform for the National Council of La Raza, reports that
The growth of the Latino student population has significantly surpassed that of other ethnic/racial
groups (2). Even with these strides, the Latino community still faces obstacles in higher education.
Kohler and Lazarin further report that although Latino enrollment in institutions of higher
education has increased, Latinos are still less likely than non Latinos to be enrolled in or graduate
from college (10). It is important in understanding the obstacles that the Latino community face in
accessing higher education and through advocacy and legislation, help to support educational
achievement and resources to that effect.
These efforts have had a proven positive effect as to slowly changing the gender role orientations
favoring Latina women becoming more independent. It has created a shift from a traditional
housewife role to a more professional role and egalitarian view over the past few decades. This
shift has also created an issue that is underreported. Claudia Buchman from the Sociology
Department at Ohio State University and Thomas Diprete from the Sociology Department of

The Chevrolet Volt Adventure
The second chapter of the Chevrolet Volt adventure is about to begin. Fans of this hybrid

Five model years after releasing the first generation Chevrolet Volt, GM is applying other changes
that will enhance the ownership experience.
Indeed, the new Volt will better utilize the electric motor when driving. In the first generation
model, the 111 kilowatt traction electric motor operated independently of the 55 kilowatt gasoline
generator. The new model allows the Voltec power system to use both motors concurrently under
certain driving circumstances. It also relies on a 75 kilowatt gasoline generator to deliver more
power as needed.

generation model is EPA rated at 42 mpg. Where the first generation model required premium fuel,
the all new Volt takes regular grade gasoline. That alone will enable customers to save at least 10

Hypercritical Analysis Of Beauty And The Beast
In recent years, Disney has begun concerted efforts to adapt several of their animated classics
into live action movies. Though this move has garnered new interest in the original versions from
new audiences, older audiences that grew up watching these beloved classics have had mixed
reactions to the remakes of their childhood favorites. This year s Beauty and the Beast, an
adaptation of the animated movie of the same name originally released in 1991, was received
warmly by nostalgic audiences, highly criticized by those that disliked the changes to the plot or
the casting, and even boycotted by those that believed there were controversial themes included
(Han). Josh Spiegel, co host of the Mousterpiece Cinema podcast and a member of the Online Film
Critics Society (OFCS.org), was one of the many respected reviewers that disparaged and
nitpicked to find fault in the live action version. While his analysis on Slash Film was well
written and contained a few valid points, I disagreed with much of his Beauty and the Beast movie
review. As I read Spiegel s often hypercritical analysis of the film, I found that my opinions were in
direct contrast to many of his points. One such point of contention was his strongly held belief that
including additional backstory to the movie to provide answers for the previously unanswered
questions distracts from the appeal of the mystery surrounding the unusual circumstances of the
plot. He attempts to persuade the reader of his point by making

Street children like any other children, need certain resources to meet their physical and emotional
needs, needs be protected , to be taught how to live in society, to be educated and to have
vocational training as stated in the UNCRC (1989:24).
However, street children are often victims of every conceivable physical and moral danger and as
they grow older, they often become a danger to others. After such insecure childhoods, most street
children are condemned to spend their lives excluded from mainstream society (Schmidt 2003:27).
Street children face untold hardships and dangers on the streets and their living conditions on the

The Low Country Healthy Start Program
The Low Country Healthy Start program was designed to eliminate disparities in perinatal health,
improve birth outcomes, and quality of life in African American women and infants living in
Allendale, Bamberg, Hampton, and Orangeburg counties. This process evaluation sought to
determine whether the services provided by LCHS were effective in changing the birth outcomes
associated with chronic disease in African American women. Data collected from the initial risk
screening and assessment survey along with attendance data from services provided by LCHS
was utilized. Case summaries and frequencies were ran on all data linked with chronic disease to
determine the risk factors, recognize who was at risk, and what services were provided. Findings
suggest that Asthma was the most common chronic disease amongst its participants with smoking
tobacco, poor coping skills, negative feelings, and inadequate housing being the risk factors
associated with asthma. The services provided by LCHS were found to be insufficient in reaching
participants with chronic disease. The program in general proves to be useful and beneficial in
addressing the major issues associated with low birthweight infants, however the data collected for
this particular study is all self reported which leaves gaps and unanswered questions due to
inconsistency in the data received. Keywords: Pernatal health, Chronic disease, African American

The Effect Of Orange Juice On The Germination Of Mung Bean...
Research Title
The title of this research is Determining the effect of orange juice on the germination of mung bean
seeds. This research aimed to find out how would mung bean seeds will germinate if watered by
orange juice.
Objectives
This research aimed to establish the role orange juice plays in the germination process of mung
seeds in terms of germination rate and the length of roots over time.
Introduction:
Minute made orange juice has a pH of 2.80. The acidity will have a negative effect on the
germination of the seeds. Sour conditions decrease the germination rate of seeds. The length of
roots in a germinating seed is reduced by the acidic conditions, which, in its turn, affects the rate of
germination of seeds (Lee 435) .
The seed membrane is permeable to water, which is necessary for a seed to germinate. Hydrolysis
of polysaccharides in seeds to simple sugars for the germination process is crucial. The permeable
seed membrane allows water to enter the seed. For that, Acidic conditions affect the permeability of
seed membrane, thereby, reducing the chances of germination process (Lee 435) .
It has been acknowledged that legume type of plants are more sensitive to acidic conditions
(Ahmad 5) . Mung seeds are from legume type of plants, and that explains why their germination is
significantly affected by orange juice acidity.
A number of factors can affect seeds germination. Warmth, catalysts, and inhibitors can affect
germination. Low and high temperatures cannot

NSA Surveillance
NSA Surveillance: Is safety worth losing freedom?
Recently there is debate about if it is okay for the United States government to spy on citizens using
NSA and FBI. This became common knowledge when Edward Snowden leaked millions of
documents that show the government is spying on the public. The United States government should
not keep the NSA surveillance going because it hurts the public more than it keeps the public safe.
On the pro side there are many people that believe if you are a good person and do nothing bad then
government can get your information. (Debate Central) Watching Americans using NSA and FBI
will also stop terrorist plot. (Debate Central) You don t actually own the data they get but the phone
company, private company, and email company give the information to the government when they
ask. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Debate Central) The government can be trusted but if that is true then NSA cannot police itself
meaning they might use the information for a bad purpose. (Debate Central) Police state is worse
than terrorism because it give the government too much power. (Debate Central)
This image shows Obama and his ears are NSA and FBI which also are satellites. Then little red
riding hood is on the right and she says he has big ears. This from the story meaning that Obama
might be a wolf and cannot be trusted because he will hurt the innocent girl (public). (Moodle)
This means that the wolf might say he is a good person and be actually bad.
The United States government should not keep the NSA surveillance going because it hurts the
public more than it keeps the public safe. I learned that there are many things that both side can say
about this issue but it is better to have more freedom and be in some danger. Based on the
information the government will not do the right thing if they have too much

Suicide, the reason what teens use to get away from life, caused by depression and other mental

someone. This brings down the self efficacy, self esteem, and self confidence. There are three steps
to prevent suicide, which might decrease the risk of suicide from happening. This might give you a
clear idea to help prevent a friend, family member, or anyone from committing suicide.
Self Efficacy
Many of us had been though a couple of rough times and some pretty amazing ones as well.
Difficult times for most people can take away their energy, taken away emotions, and break a
person s spirit. The good times on the other hand can lift someone s spirit up, boost their self esteem
, and show signs of our capability. This is called self efficacy, it connects with four of the 6
dimensions of health mental, emotional, spiritual, and social wellness. These effects tell people to
feel good about themselves, help them control their social anxiety, and maintain a positive lookout
on life.
Healthy vs Unhealthy People with an unhealthy mental mind can be extremely dangerous, or just
plain terrible, they would respond with an irrational response. Whereas, healthy people respond
with a more positive, a better outlook on life. A healthy mind has a good attitude, value, beliefs, and
can reason with other people. Unhealthy people with unhealthy minds cannot do things like that.

The Problem Of Digital Piracy
1.0 Situation Analysis 1.1Introduction: Digital Piracy refers to the occurrence of unauthorized
copying of digital goods, documents, video and audio without the legal approval of the owners
(Lixuan Zhang Wayne William 2009). Software privacy is reported to cost the film industry an
estimated $58 billion per year in the United States alone (Ma et al, 2011.). Sony is a Japanese
multinational corporation, with business in a variety of areas including; consumer and professional
electronics, gaming, music and motion pictures. Piracy of Sony s content is a continuing problem,
and the management team has made various attempts at prosecuting the individuals who pirate. The
management team attempted to deter the individuals pirating, through sending legal letters
threatening action, however this only led to a short term impact. In order to work towards a long
term solution, the management team would like to understand what factors impact a person s

The Government Intervention Of International Business Essay
When governments amongst nations conduct in international business, it exposes them to
increased risks and costs through unfair trade and bribery in order to obtain a competitive
advantage or power. Mercantilism explains why the government intervention of international
business increases the chances of these risks. Mercantilismis the theory that explains, the
government will maintain their economy and trade to promote their own domestic industry at the
cost of the other country leading to unfair trade (Pettinger,2016). As all governments will not
play by the same rules, there is an increase in risks such as unfair tariff policies or bribery in
order to gain a competitive advantage. In fact, many governments across nations will use these
unfair actions to gain an increase in power. Hill (2015) states that nations like China are striving
for a more neo mercantilist policy (a more modern theory of mercantilism where economic power
is the equivalent to a trade surplus) to gain a trade surplus. During most of the 2000s, their exports
have been increasing whereas their imports have not grown because they have been limited by an
import substitution policy. While China is able to benefit from the trade surplus, it is at the cost of
another nation where the money that will be paid for those imports will decrease. Therefore,
government intervention in international business increases risk like unfair trading to gain a
competitive advantage. The government also increases the cost of

The Dangers Of Inclusion In The Classroom
What is inclusion? Inclusion is part of a much larger picture then just placement in regular class
within school. It is being included in life and participating using one s abilities in day to day
activities as a member of the community (Colleen, F. Tomko). By providing the opportunity to
children to learn and experience the sense of community that says, Here everybody belongs, plays,
and helps each other learn in her or his own time and way (Derman Sparks, Lousise, Julie Olsen,
Edwards) as a result, it enables a child to feel nurtured, respected as an individual and thrive in that
environment. I personally believe that inclusionof infants, toddlers, and preschoolers with
disabilities in early care is very important. I believe inclusion... Show more content on

Some schools find it hard to balance inclusion when they are faced with serious behavior issues
join school. Some children might bite, hit, and spit staff and peers, which makes it challenging
to meet a child with disability needs, while providing a safe nurturing learning environment for
the rest of the class. Another challenge I have personally seen is when the school is not
properly equipped, and teachers are not educated/knowledgeable to provide and support children
with disabilities. The current school I work at, unfortunately, is not properly equipped to support
children with disabilities, thought, they don t refuse admission to them. As a result, we are not
properly supporting their needs, other children are not in liberty to share feelings or thoughts of
children with disabilities, and nobody knows how to address with families, the thoughts,
progress, or concerns they have about their child. The proper way to address this challenges is
by providing the adequate knowledge and training to all staff. It is imperative to be educated in
the subject, to properly support children and their families reach their goals, as well as, meet their
individual needs. In addition, I am only hopeful that one day classes like this CD 140, are
mandated to all staff that works with children, regardless of disability or

How To Write An Essay About The Movie Rear Window

street at Greenwich Village with his girlfriend Lisa played by Grace Kelly and his therapist Stella

The entire movie we see Mr. Jefferies making sly remarks to Ms. Lisa because he does not
believe she can handle his sort of lifestyle. She is too high maintenance and is not ready to be
tied down by marrying her but at this moment she became something much more important to
him she stopped being apart of him and became something for him to look at with his lens. He
could not resist what this women was risking for him to get the evidence he needed. The movie
for this time period was better than anything produced before It painted a girl as the hero of the
story which on the 50 s was not how it always was. We seen women being housewives and baby
makers. Then being able to watch Jefferies assumptions of his neighbor be put to rest once in for
all was not only a great moment for the characters in the movie but for the audience as well.
Overall this movie was excellent and I highly recommend people of all ages to watch Rear

  • 2. Nazy Atrocities in the Movie Defiance Defiance is not a typical holocaust movie, although there are scenes of Nazi atrocities, the story is more about those Jews who escaped the German camps and fought back for their freedom. It is based on a true story of the Bielski brothers, they led thousands of Jews to hide from the Germans in the forests of Nazi occupied Belarus, and they managed to keep them alive for several years. This movie is historically very accurate except for minor issues that happened in the movie. The Bielski brothers were actually aggressive with each other to show power over the rescued Jews, but what was not accurate that the film suggests Asael was much younger than the other two, he was actually only two years younger than Tuvia, while Zus was four years younger. In the film, Tuvia kills one of the police officers that killed his parents which was true but he did not go into emotional distress because of it, he was sending a message that who would kill Jewish people will be killed too and the fact he killed many others before this officer it did not matter to him. What was also accurate, in Eastern Europe, the Nazis didn t immediately send Jews to concentration camps, instead, they created walls around each city, where Jews were forced to work as slaves, and kept in terror by frequent executions. Until the walls were destroyed, the Bielskis had many plans to rescue the Jews and guide them to their camp in the forest. It was daring from the brothers as they had a heave price for ... • 4. Strategic Customer Management And Solutions For strategic customer management and solutions selling, a firm s entire core processes need to be aligned and working collaboratively to create and deliver value to both the customer and the firm as a whole. Within Avaya marketing and sales are very separate functions with each focused on their own tasks and objectives. This is evident from the funnels which are completely separate and identify no overlap between the functions. It appears that each team has developed processes in isolation, meaning that there is no alignment or collaboration between the groups. One of the key hurdles standing in the way of effective demand generation is the leads generation process. The case study highlights that the prospects from the marketing team were viewed in terms of a set of criteria, however this criteria appears to be set by the marketing team and varied greatly across different markets. This is in contract to the leads generated by the sales team who spent a lot of time upfront assessing the attractiveness of an opportunity by really understanding the prospect company, their interest level and how Avaya could provide a solution. This gap between the lead qualification process results in the sales team spending considerable time requalifying any leads from the marketing team to understand what the customers problem is and what an Avaya solution would look like (this is not an efficient use of their time). In order to make strategic choices about your customers, all relevant teams ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Spring Day Poem Analysis Spring day by Elise is an English cover of the original version by BTS. It is written in first person but can be applied to the audience s personal experiences. The song explores the ideas of love and death as it illustrates the grief of losing a friend or loved one. Throughout the song, winter is shown as a continuous metaphor used to symbolise misery. It s the salient metaphor of the song as it is repeated and constantly referenced. The composer chose to display winter in a more cold, lonesome and depressive manner. The surrounding cold of winter that seems to never disperse illustrates the lack of warmth and happiness in his life. This is further reinforced with the lack of sunlight in the winter. The line There s no darkness or season that s in store where there will never be an end directly compares winter to the persona s depression. It explains to the audience that grief, or winter, is not everlasting, that spring is approaching and the long winter will finally come to an end. It is the start of when the persona begins to accept the death of his loved one, whereas previously it was expressed to be a never ending situation of grief, specifically in the line where I am it s always winter . Moreover, spring too, is a metaphor, for hope and acceptance and death, that works alongside the metaphor of winter. Spring is seen as the season of warmth, birth and restoration. The lines Until spring decides to come again Until flowers, they bloom again Please stay where you are and wait for me Please wait for me explains why it is such an important aspect of this song. Spring is the time in which the persona may finally reunite with their lost loved one, once reunited, he will no longer be in misery, however, the lines suggests that they may only reunite after death. Thus spring symbolises both happiness and death and acceptance. The image used on slide 8, shows a person walking sadly down a street. On his side of the street it is winter, on the other side its summer. It the lyric in August it s like December in its metaphorical aspect to visually demonstrate the intended meaning behind the lyric. Colour symbolises the emotions of the characters in the image. The persona s side is colourless, to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Fossil Fuels And Alternative Methods Of Generating... FOSSIL FUELS AND ALTERNATIVE METHODS OF GENERATING ELECTRICITY What are fossil fuels? Fossil fuels are natural resources created under the Earth s surface from the remains of ancient organisms. These organisms include plants and animals and other organic matter. How are fossil fuels formed? Millions of years ago most of the land on Earth was covered with swamps and forests. As trees and plants died, they would sink to the bottom of the swamps. As more trees and plants died their remains would bury dead plants and organic matter underneath them creating layers of dead plants. As the layers of rotting material build up in the forests and swamps it is compressed by the heavy weight of the plants and water. This weight with high temperatures removes the moisture from the organic decaying matter. This creates peat. Over millions of years peat was covered by sand and clay and other minerals. These sediments changed into rocks called sedimentary rocks. Rock continued to pile up and compress the peat. This caused the water to be squeezed from the peat. Over millions of year this process turned peat into fossil fuels such as natural gas, oil and coal. Three examples of fossil fuels Three examples of fossil fuels include: Coal Oil Natural gas How are these fossil fuels used in Australia? COAL Coal is used to produce 80% of the nation s electricity use. This is achieved by the burning of the coal to generate steam to power the turbines to create electricity. Coal ... • 10. Rhetorical Analysis On Teenagers And Tattoos Millennials Change Culture: A Rhetorical Analysis of On Teenagers and Tattoos Tattoos are usually a mark or symbol that represents a hidden meaning or is simply a beautiful piece of art. In some cases, people wait until they are older and more mature to get a tattoo, but recently, America s teenage culture has been undergoing a massive change. Getting a tattoo at a young age now represents individualism and uniqueness. A common question that adults have been asking is Why would teenagers even get a tattoo at such a young and mature age? Andres Martin, a child psychiatrist, dives into the mind of a millennial teenager in his article On Teenagers and Tattoos. Martin highlights the recent change by mentioning that teens are progressively becoming more individualistic and expressive. Andres Martin s overall rhetorical viewpoints were convincing, but his connotations were confusing at certain points and his evidence was only based on small sample sizes. In the article On Teenagers and Tattoos, Andres Martin says that Tattoos and piercings have become a part of our everyday landscape (Andres Martin, 2000, p.143). Suggesting that it is very common for teens to have piercings and tattoos. That tattoos can also help teenagers form their own identities. Martin s first argument is that tattoos and piercings offer a solution to the identity crisis that many teens face today. Since the typical teenage body changes so much, a tattoo is the one thing that cannot change on the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Photographs Capture Time And Create Meaning Photographs capture time and create meaning. Mark Klett s Under the Dark Cloth , is a simple, yet compelling piece of art which captures his experience in Monument Valley, Arizona on May 27th, 1989. The perspective of the photograph is strategic in allowing the viewers to see from Klett s point of view. This angle places the viewer in the first person, connecting them directly to the image. Images of landscapes are often engrossing, Klett s piece does this on two planes. In the text, Visual Methodologies, author, Gillian Rose uses semiotics as a way to make sense of an image. She defines semiotics as the study of signs and their use or interpretation, or, how images make meaning (pg. 75). Under close inspection of Mark Klett s Under ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another question could be looked at through the lens of positional communication . Who is positioned as superior and who inferior? (pg. 82). The photographer makes the audience feel as if they are a part of the image, giving the audience a connection to the subject of the photograph. This allows power within the image to be equally distributed and shared between human and nature. The objects within the image, such as the watch, camera, and dark cloth connote time, preservation, and reflection. Klett s use of signs give his photo the purpose it needs to remain captivating. Within Klett s photo, icons, indexes, and symbols are all presented. The icon most prevalent in the image is the upside down image of Monument Valley. This iconic image represents that specific rock structure in the valley. This image is also a synecdochal sign, it is a part of this rocky range, representing the national park as a whole. The two indexes that stand out immediately are the camera and the dark cloth. When you see a camera you immediately think of documentation or memories. When we think of something under the dark cloth or in a dark space we think of referees reviewing a play or the process of developing a photograph. When someone is under the dark cloth, it is a personal, capturing moment. This sign is a moment of silence and critical reflection. The symbols which are presented in the photograph include the camera, watch, and the style of the photograph. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Mao Zedong and Gender Equality When Mao Zedong, also translated as Mao Tse tung and by the people, referred to as Chairman Mao, came to power in 1949[1], Mao s policy of Marxism was pleasing to the Chinese Communism Party, however it was contradictory to the instruction of Confucianism. Mao s work towards liberation and his struggle against Confucius innate social system changed the way that Chinas freedom hungry women were seen through the eyes of traditional Confucius followers in society. The downsizing of the weak economy and ineffective government system often envelopes an entire country s dynamic; though the economic side is naturally distorted, often the cultural and societal behavior follow close behind. While Confucius taught of structured places in society for every person, peasant and aristocrats[2], Mao tried to take steps towards liberty for all just as other countries around him had strongly exemplified. Confucius made women out to be such horrible creatures, only good for cooking, cleaning, and bearing children as some societies then believed however, Mao tried to increase the female population s freedom and equality in society in comparison to that of men. Mao s policy of Marxismwas vastly different than Confucian teachings in that it supported women more and disregarded the class system. Although women in Mao s China did not achieve full political participation, in his policies, he aimed to overturn the Confucian social hierarchy and give woman equal opportunities in education and ... • 13. The Influence Of Female Fashion In The 1920 s As female fashion in the Western world has evolved since through the 20th century, an exciting feature has been the evolving exposure of skin. While arms and legs have had their share of change in exposure and acceptance from early traditional fashion to modern fashion, the exposure of the midriff has experienced controversy from the early 1900s to now. Midriff exposure has a history worth looking into in understanding its popularity and prevalence in fashiontoday. To begin exploration of the topic, the origins of the trend must be determined. Most sources agree that Madeleine Vionnet officially introduced midriff exposure into high fashion in 1932 with her haute couture dresses, intentionally cut to reveal the waist. While it was common to see characters in films baring their midriffs, it was only common to see real women exposing their midriffs at the beach with two piece bathing suits at this time and into the 1940s. It was not common at all for women to bare their midriffs in public spaces besides ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In fact, more girls are gaining positivity through daring to bare their midriffs or even their shoulders in defiance of illogical school dress codes and that more people are feeling liberated by accepting and loving their bodies. I see the resurgence of the exposed midriff not so much part of a sexual revolution, but a part of a revolution of acceptance acceptance of gender equality, acceptance of the beauty of all, and rejection of hate in all forms. Girls who were told to cover up for the sake of not distracting boys in school or because they were told they were not pretty are now a part of a positive movement in body love and appreciation. I believe this is a trend to stay, especially as it was the focus of the Spring Summer 2015 Haute Couture Show by Chanel in Paris, being brought back into high fashion as well as street ... • 19. Benjamin Franklin s The Speech Of Miss Polly Baker The Speech of Miss Polly Baker Benjamin Franklin s life and writing can easily be used to help one become a model and picturesque citizen. Throughout time Franklin used many pseudonyms in his periodical writings in order to make his point known about the fallacies in court rulings of the colonial times. One of his most famous articles written using a pseudonym were The Speech of Miss Polly Baker. This story was about a woman that was being prosecuted for the fifth time for having a bastard child and which one of the judges decided to marry her the next day. It is believed that Franklin was influenced by this letter because he was a man that had an illegitimate child, and also had a common law marriage which would allow many people to consider him a womanizer. Other purposes of the pseudonym would be the fact that most women of the eighteenth century were not capable of being quite as educated as the men of the century. • 24. Similarities Between Plato And Aristotle Plato versus Aristotle Plato and Aristotle, two philosophers in the 4th century, hold polar views on politics and philosophy in general. This fact is very cleverly illustrated by Raphael s School of Athens (1510 11; Stanza della Segnatura, Vatican), where Plato is portrayed looking up to the higher forms; and Aristotleis pointing down because he supports the natural sciences. In a discussion of politics, the stand point of each philosopher becomes an essential factor. It is not coincidental that Plato states in The Republic that Philosopher Rulers who possess knowledge of the good should be the governors in a city state. His strong interest in metaphysics is demonstrated in The Republic various times: for example, the similes of the cave, the sun, and the line, and his theory of the forms. Because he is so involved in metaphysics, his views on politics are more theoretical as opposed to actual. Aristotle, contrarily, holds the view that politics is the art of ruling and being ruled in turn. In The Politics, he attempts to outline a way of governing that would be ideal for an actual state. Balance is a main word in discussing Aristotle because he believes it is the necessary element to creating a stable government. His less metaphysical approach to politics makes Aristotle more in tune with the modern world, yet he is far from modern. Plato s concept of what politics and government should be is a direct result of his belief in the theory of forms. The theory of forms ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 27. Analysis Of A Flower Garden By Li Bai This poem creates a scene in which the poet, Li Bai is sitting alone under the moonlight as he sips on his drink and can share his loneliness with no one but the moon and his shadow. By pointing out that he is at a flower garden with moonlight shined upon him and a pot of wine by his side, the setting of the poem is rather pleasant and relaxing. The poet, however, appears to be frustrated because he has no real friends who are there for him. With a quick thought, LiBai decides to think the moonand his shadow as his companion and meanwhile starts to sing and dance with them. The fact that neither the moon nor his shadow is animated does not bother Li Bai as he slowly gets more involved in the atmosphere he created for himself, or, in his words, it makes us [them] three . From there on, the poet does not care about what other people think of him anymore and instead starts to live his life the way that will not leave behind any regrets. In order to achieve such impression and create an image for the readers, Li Bai incorporates myriad rhetorical devices in the writing of the poem. Out of all techniques being used, imagery is one that appears throughout the poem. The poem opens up with an image of a flower garden a which indicates the poet s location and sets the tone for the slight twist in emotion in next couple of lines of the poem. The poet s mentioning of his loneliness sharply contrasts the setting in which both wine and flowers are supposed to bring a sense of prosperity and happiness. Moving on, the fourth and fifth lines express Li Bai s loneliness by creating an image of the faraway moon and his shadow. The line states that the moon is too far away to enjoy the wine with Li Bai, and his shadow cannot communicate with or truly comprehend the poet. Li Bai s use of the phrase creeps about my heels to describe the behavior of his shadow is interesting thoughtful, showing that even though the shadow is very close to him in distance, Li Bai feels as if all the shadow does is blindly following him. Considering Li Bai s experience of rejecting the government official s position in Chang an the capital of China because of his unwillingness to sacrifice his entire life for the Royals monetary ... The Duchess s power greedy brothers, Ferdinand and The Cardinal forbid her sister to remarry. The play is an unconventional Renaissance tragedy as the protagonist focuses on a female character rather than a male. (Pacheco, 2012, p69) This essay focuses on Webster s use of distinctive features of language. This passage is important because it displays the violent and tragic scene of the Duchess s execution and torture. The scene occurs after the Duchess encounters a theatrical spectacle delivered by her brother Ferdinand, as his way of punishing and torturing her (Pacheco, 2012, p169) The dramatic function this serves is that it reveals a violent and painful death to the audience, made all the more shocking and tragic with her welcoming death and believing, to meet such excellent company/In th other world. (Webster, 2004, p159) Webster employs dramatic irony at this point as she thinks Antonio is dead and the audience know this is an act of torture and so this illustrates the tragedy of the situation. The number of times a participant felt two points in the fingers increased with the distance between the calipers. This also happened when they were touched in the forearm, but the percentages were bigger in terms of the fingers because the fingers contain more sensory neurons than the ... Adriana Kohler and Melissa Lazarin, analysists for education reform for the National Council of La Raza, reports that The growth of the Latino student population has significantly surpassed that of other ethnic/racial groups (2). Even with these strides, the Latino community still faces obstacles in higher education. Kohler and Lazarin further report that although Latino enrollment in institutions of higher education has increased, Latinos are still less likely than non Latinos to be enrolled in or graduate from college (10). It is important in understanding the obstacles that the Latino community face in accessing higher education and through advocacy and legislation, help to support educational achievement and resources to that effect. These efforts have had a proven positive effect as to slowly changing the gender role orientations favoring Latina women becoming more independent. Though this move has garnered new interest in the original versions from new audiences, older audiences that grew up watching these beloved classics have had mixed reactions to the remakes of their childhood favorites. This year s Beauty and the Beast, an adaptation of the animated movie of the same name originally released in 1991, was received warmly by nostalgic audiences, highly criticized by those that disliked the changes to the plot or the casting, and even boycotted by those that believed there were controversial themes included (Han). Josh Spiegel, co host of the Mousterpiece Cinema podcast and a member of the Online Film Critics Society (OFCS.org), was one of the many respected reviewers that disparaged and nitpicked to find fault in the live action version. While his analysis on Slash Film was well written and contained a few valid points, I disagreed with much of his Beauty and the Beast movie review. As I read Spiegel s often hypercritical analysis of the film, I found that my opinions were in direct contrast to many of his points. One such point of contention was his strongly held belief that including additional backstory to the movie to provide answers for the previously unanswered questions distracts from the appeal of the mystery surrounding the unusual circumstances of the plot. He attempts to persuade the reader of his point by making ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 45. The Effect Of Orange Juice On The Germination Of Mung Bean... Research Title The title of this research is Determining the effect of orange juice on the germination of mung bean seeds. This research aimed to find out how would mung bean seeds will germinate if watered by orange juice. Objectives This research aimed to establish the role orange juice plays in the germination process of mung seeds in terms of germination rate and the length of roots over time. Introduction: Minute made orange juice has a pH of 2.80. The acidity will have a negative effect on the germination of the seeds. Sour conditions decrease the germination rate of seeds. The length of roots in a germinating seed is reduced by the acidic conditions, which, in its turn, affects the rate of germination of seeds (Lee 435) . The seed membrane is permeable to water, which is necessary for a seed to germinate. Hydrolysis of polysaccharides in seeds to simple sugars for the germination process is crucial. The permeable seed membrane allows water to enter the seed. For that, Acidic conditions affect the permeability of seed membrane, thereby, reducing the chances of germination process (Lee 435) . It has been acknowledged that legume type of plants are more sensitive to acidic conditions (Ahmad 5) . Mung seeds are from legume type of plants, and that explains why their germination is significantly affected by orange juice acidity. A number of factors can affect seeds germination. Warmth, catalysts, and inhibitors can affect germination. Low and high temperatures cannot ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mercantilism explains why the government intervention of international business increases the chances of these risks. Mercantilismis the theory that explains, the government will maintain their economy and trade to promote their own domestic industry at the cost of the other country leading to unfair trade (Pettinger,2016). As all governments will not play by the same rules, there is an increase in risks such as unfair tariff policies or bribery in order to gain a competitive advantage. In fact, many governments across nations will use these unfair actions to gain an increase in power.
