The company of my choice is EnQuest PLC, the largest UK independent oil producer in the UK North
Sea. 1. About The Model Porter s Five Forces model is designed to assess the attractiveness of an
industry based on the actual or potential competition through the following five forces: Rivalry
Among Existing Competitors; Threat of New Entrants; Bargaining Power of Buyers; Bargaining
Power of Suppliers; Threat of Substitute Products or Services (Johnson et al., 2014). The framework is
a holistic approach to analysing any industry and is based on the principle that the stronger the five
forces are, the less attractive it is to compete. Hence, high threat of new entrants and substitutes
combined with high bargaining power of buyers and suppliers diminishes industry profitability (Porter
2008). 1.1 Advantages Historically, the Five Forces Framework has

A Study On New Orleans Essay
32 | spring 2016 get involved www. kappa.org | 33
For more than two centuries, coffee has been a fundamental part of the culinary and social culture of
New Orleans.
It s not just the city s penchant for chicory café au lait served alongside warm beignets. Nor is it just
landmark gathering spots like Café du Monde and or Morning Call Coffee Stand that spawned the
notion of the laborers coffee break and served locals and tourists for generations.
And it isn t solely boozy Café Brulôt, the brandy spiked coffee drink New Orleans families serve in
slender china cups that makes
New Orleans a true coffee town.
Alongside these the gustatory expressions is the city s historic and longstanding role in the coffee
trade. New Orleans has been a significant coffee port for more than 200 years. Since the early 19th
century, import companies have brought in green coffee beans from around the world through the Port
of New Orleans. Today, it is the second largest coffee port in the country.
Among those importers, Westfeldt Brothers Inc. is one of the oldest of its kind in the United States.
The company was first founded in
Mobile, Alabama, in 1851 by Swedish Vice Consul Gustavus Adolphus
George Westfeldt, who had immigrated to the U.S. in 1835. Westfeldt moved to New Orleans in 1853.
By 1880, his company had become one of the country s principal green coffee importers. Since then, it
has been run by six generations of Westfeldts.
The latest generation is the first to be represented by a

Egoism Vs Altruism Essay
The ethical debate between Egoism and Altruism was extremely interesting to read about. I truly had
an aha moment because this debate is a topic that is rarely tackled or approached from the perspective
that being selfish is not a bad thing. At first, I thought this argument against altruism was insane,
however, once I tried to think of examples that prove its insanity I thought of nothing. This is when I
came to the conclusion that yes, whether its selfishness or selflessness, both have different meanings
to different people. Laurena Becker, in her article Encyclopedia of Ethics, mentioned that one of the
definitions for selflessness is a regard for the well being of others for its own sake (35). I believe this
is the definition that most people refer to. For example, when we think about a sister staying up all
night to take care of her younger sibling whose sick, we tend to say aww, she s so sweet and selfless .
However, can we even say that a sibling is selfless for taking care of her own sibling? A part of me
views that as being her job as an older sister while another part of me also views this as being a kind
gesture; and in actuality it may be a little bit of both. This aspect interferes with Rand s statement, in
the book Objectively ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

your wellbeing instead is a good thing. I believe that if someone donates clothes to the homeless, even
if it s with the intentions of feeling better about one s self, isn t necessarily unethical because no harm
is being done. The person is not only going to feel more satisfied with themselves but would also be
doing those who are less fortunate a favor. Although this may seem a bit heartless, but it s true if one
simply takes into consideration the consequences of one s actions rather than their intents (although

Student Government At Houston Community
Four students voted in favor of changing the fundamental structure of student government at Houston
Community College. The motion passed.
The amendments to HCC s United Student Council constitution is changing the student government
system from Student Appointed Representatives to a senator system akin to how the University of
Houston s student government operates.
The change cuts out one layer of student government, and is intended to make student government
officers more accountable and cooperative district wide.
The only change that is happening is that we will no longer have Student Appointed Representatives,
explained United Student Council President Josue Rodriguez. Instead, students will directly elect their
representatives ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When transformation started, all student organizations became district wide organizations, so
technically HCC has had seven operational district wide student government organizations for the past
two years. This change means that the student government at HCC will start operating more like a
single student government organization, not seven.
There were nine students and two student life advisors at the special United Student Council meeting
on Wednesday, April 5 when the vote took place. After some rewording of the amendments, five
students voted: one abstained and four voted in favor. The three students present who were USC
executive officers could not vote. The meeting started late as they group waited for the last student to
arrive so quorum could be met. The vote to amend the USC Constitution took place after the group
voted to suspend the normal parliamentary rules of order.
Although the meeting took place at their normal meeting room on the second floor of the HCC
Administrative building at 3100 Main, it wasn t their normal meeting day. It was changed from their
usual Friday meeting day to a Wednesday for student government officers who were at a convention.
Those officers still didn t attend.
Only Central, Coleman and Southeast were represented at the meeting when the vote took place. To

How Did Queen Victoria Influence British Society
Victoria was the longest reigning British monarch and the figurehead of a vast empire. She oversaw
huge changes in British society and gave her name to an age. When Queen Victoria assumed the
British throne in 1837 at the tender age of 18, she became an associated symbol with the rapid changes
that the nation of Great Britain endured to be a powerful, industrial nation that boasted an empire that
stretched across the globe . She endured many challenges during her reign, however, proved that she
possessed great stability and remained a character of virtue , honour, prosperity and, tradition to lead a
powerful nation for nearly 64 years, for much of the nineteenth century an era of great social and
technological change . At birth, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Political issues were her main interest over social issues, and she resisted technological change. Her
main political issue that she strived to amend was gaining political power for the British monarchy.
Without her knowledge, she led towards the transformation of the monarch s political role into a
traditional state. This meant that throughout the years of her reign, direct political power moved away
from the Queen. However, she was still able to exert a powerful influence over her ministers during
important political moments through her high levels of prestige, her determination to master her
knowledge of political affairs, but also her strong will and harsh sense of moral righteousness and self
discipline . Her high level of influence was especially demonstrated when she was able to successfully
mediate conflicts between the Commons and the Lords during the much debated passing of the Irish
Church Disestablishment Act of 1869 and the 1884 Reform Act. When she first became queen, there
were no clear means of the true political role of the crown let alone the permanence of the monarchy
itself. The aim of her rule was to cement the British monarchy into everyday British life. During her
early years of being queen, her political confidant was the then current British Prime Minister, Lord
Melbourne; however this role changed to her husband. Victoria was famous for her relationships with
the ever changing Prime Ministers during her time of rule which ranged from affectionate to cold. No
matter who was Prime Minister, she demanded to be informed of political matters even though she
had no political input, and necessitated all aspects of business and administrative details that occurred
in politics. Because her role did not exude copious amounts of power in the political affairs of Britain,
Queen Victoria principally engaged her role of the crown to include the monarchy

The Importance Of Cultural Imperialism
The Kiowa are a Native American people who have been greatly impacted by cultural imperialism.
They were forced to adapt to western culture, and in this many of the Kiowa people were converted to
Christianity. Christianity is said to be a very important aspect of many Native American cultures still
today, but the way in which Christianity is portrayed and practiced in such societies, including that of
the Kiowa, stays true to both the religion itself and their Native practices. The Kiowa are said to have
kiowanized Christianity. The Kiowa version of Christianity is said to differ from the white man s way.
This means that they believe in God, integrate their culture and lifestyles into Christianity, and they
also relay the importance of their religion in a different manner. They use their native language in their
hymns, and these hymns are comprised primarily of those elements that pertain directly to Kiowa
culture. In the text Lassiter states, Kiowa hymns give life to a unique Kiowa experience, preserve the
language, and affirm and ongoing (and continually unfolding) Kiowa spirituality. This reveals the
effectiveness and importance of the integration of Christianity and native Kiowa practices. Language
has been a central focus of anthropological interest for many reasons. List three reasons and discuss
why they are important. Think about language in broad or general anthropological sense when
addressing this question. What are the connections among play, art,

Cryptography
The practice and study in securing communication between parties in presence of potential
adversaries. A cryptographic algorithm or cipher is a mathematical function used in a plaintext in the
encryption and decryption process. A cryptographic algorithm works in combination with a key
(number, word, or phrase) to encrypt the plaintext. The same plaintext also encrypts to different cipher
text with the use of different keys. The core of modern cryptography is the construction and
analyzation of protocols of various aspects in information security such as data integrity and
confidentiality, authentication, and non repudiation.
Modern practice of cryptography involves cryptographic method.
First cryptographic method is the Symmetric Key Algorithm also known as Secret key Cryptography.
The symmetry of algorithm comes from both parties involved sharing the same key for both data
encryption and decryption. It works like a physical door where anyone who has the right locking and
unlocking uses a copy of the same key. Symmetric key Algorithm works by taking the message and
combining it with a shared key that inputs the algorithm then outputs a ciphered message.
Two ways of symmetric key algorithm encryption involve block ciphers and stream ciphers.
Stream cipher is a symmetric key cipher where plaintext digits are combined with a pseudorandom
cipher digit stream (keystream). In astream cipher each plaintext digit is encrypted one at a time with

Essay about Mt. St. Helen
Mount St. Helen is a very active volcano classified as a stratovolcano, stratovolcano is basically a tall

Mount St Helen is famous because of its catastrophic eruption on May eighteenth in nineteen eighty.

happened May nineteenth seventeen ninety two during the surveying of the northern Pacific Ocean. It
was named by Vancouver for a British diplomat, 1st Baron St. Helens, on October twentieth seventeen
ninety two, but before this local Indians had already named it louwala clough or smoky mountain. In

Disengagement Theory Research Paper
According to the text, there are three types of psychosocial theories of aging the disengagement
theory, activity theory, and continuity theory. Disengagement theory proposes that when people age
they will gradually withdraw from the world and society. They will become less interested in the
world. The reason being is that older people have lower energy levels and are incapable of functioning
in a way that is productive and energetic. The activity theory is the contrast of the disengagement
theory.
The activity theory suggests that aging looks different in different people. Older people who lives an
active lifestyle typically maintain that existence; therefore, ages successfully. Whereas, those who
lived an inactive lifestyle may age unsuccessfully. For example, my grandmother who has been retired
for seven years now stays active by involving herself in volunteer work, joining clubs, and socializing.
According to the activity theory, because my grandmother has chosen to remain active, growing older
for her will be less futile.
Then there is the continuity theory, which is similar to the activity ... Show more content on

I do not believe that there is one explanation to describe the aging process. Physiological change is
based on different factors like a person s genetic. Some people are born into different gene pools that
makes the aging process different for people. In review of my own family history, my maternal great
grandmother lived to the age of 104. I view her aging process as successfully. She was active and
mobile. Her health was fair. Physically she appeared to be in decent shape. She was able to recall
events and information. Her skin was not youthful, but for her age it was not wrinkled. Her emotional
and mental health appeared composed. It was said that her mother age in a similar way. This leads me
to believe that hopefully I too may age gracefully due to my genetic

The Death Of The Moth By Virginia Woolf
Since the beginning of time, humans have known that death is inevitable and it cannot be stopped.
Death can occur in many forms including natural, medical, and suicidal deaths. Because death is so
prevalent in everyone s lives it is very common for an author to touch on the subject. An example of
this would be Virginia Woolf, the author of the essay The Death of the Moth. In this piece, Virginia
Woolf tells a story about a moth that in the end eventually passes away; which connects with the
subject of death. Through the use of pathos, imagery and her use of short, specific sentences amidst
her long, flowing ones, Woolf shows that death is inevitable.
Woolf uses pathos through the entirety of her essay to create an overall tone of sadness and pity. In the
beginning of the essay, she touches specifically on the way that the moth lives on a daily basis. Woolf
writes, The possibilities of pleasure seemed that morning so enormous and so various that to have only
a moth s part in life, and a day moth s at that, appeared a hard fate, and his zest in enjoying his meagre
opportunities to the full, pathetic. Virginia Woolf tells the reader that out of all the possibilities in life,
that the moth only witnesses and experiences a small section of the world and that there is a certain
pity for the small creature. The author continues to expand on the tone of the overall piece by later
explaining in her essay the pity she has for the tiny moth. Woolf states, Again, the thought of all that
life might have been had he been born in any other shape cause one to view his simple activities with
a kind of pity. She specifically uses the emotional appeal because, as humans, the audience does not
want to think about the smaller creatures in life and what they experience, and when Virginia Woolf
fully brings forward this thought, the audience is struck with emotion. The emotion that she creates at
this stage of the essay, then accumulates to her final thought, is that death is inevitable.
Throughout Virginia Woolf s essay, she includes multiple vivid scenes of the moth s death to show the
reader how death always comes no matter how hard someone tries. Virginia Woolf presents an image
to the audience of herself trying to help

College Students Social Media Usage
In the study, Technology Inhibiting One s Coping mechanisms with stress and loneliness, there were
five focus group interviews held at the University of California, Irvine. Throughout data collection I
formulated a research question, what are the differences between college students social media usage
and how do they affect their connections to the campus community? Technology has grown
exponentially in the last ten years changing the ways young adults communicate and understand one
another. People s main goal is to create strong connections with one another, and technology is
inhibiting it. People are using online chat rooms instead of coffee dates. There is a huge difference
between in person connections compared to online connections. This study gave great insight in the
different uses for social media and technology. In reality, sites such as Facebook cause more stress
because they are associated with academics and business. Other sites can be associated with close
friends and some students associate it is with their happy place. Technology does in fact inhibited one
s coping mechanisms because someone will sit for hours on their phone. Instead of scrolling for hours
wasting time they could be using proven mechanisms like talking to a friend or family member. To
counteract this during stressful times, people deactivated social media and other technology to take
away the distraction. Technology did not fully replace working mechanisms because they still look for

Ottoman and Mughal Empires People, places, and/or things come and go, changing from one thing to
another or none at all. In other cases, it is just not people, places, and/or things, it can also be
generations or empires. Empires are known to adopt similar traditions or beliefs from other empires.
In addition, some empires have similar, but slightly different laws and/or goals. Two of the empires
that were similar, but different is many ways are the Ottoman and Mughal Empires. Being similar
does not include having the exact same ideas, equipment, beliefs, etc. The Ottoman and Mughal
Empires are two different empires, but they both have a couple of similar things. Starting off with
religions in the Ottoman Empire, there are Christians, Jews, Muslims, and non Muslims. In the
Mughal Empire, there are Muslims and large populations of Hindus. Therefore, the similarity of both
empires are of different religions. Another similarity is the vast empires with both of their great
achievements and military. In addition, women in these empires were powerful. They were allowed to
own property in both empires and also achieved many things such as charity foundations. However,
these two empires are very different. The Ottoman Empire started in 1301 and ended in 1922. That

LINDA KERBER: WOMEN OF THE REPUBLIC
Name:
(Class Information):

The ideals by the Republicans which came into the limelight after the Revolutionary War would set
into motion a revolution not just in the United States but in many countries across the world. Linda
Kerber s Women of the Republic is a demonstration of the paradigm shift in relation to the US social
and political structures after the American Revolution. Kerber observes that not only did the war
provide more opportunities to women but also set a platform for women to chart the way forward
politically. This important role is what came later to be known as the Republican Motherhood. The
concept of Republican Motherhood demonstrates the important role that woken played politically in
addition to attending to their traditional roles of domestic responsibility.
Women of the Republic demonstrates the expanded role of women politically amidst the rising
influence of their male counterparts in civic responsibility. Kerber states that the American Revolution
provided a platform for women to express themselves away from ideological ferment that was
premised on the confines of a family set up. This situation might perhaps explain why there were few
women leaders during the period leading to the Revolution War. Kerber appears to place her concept
of the Republican Motherhood to the industrialisation era that was characterized by fathers working
away from their homes and leaving all the household

Corporation, 1978). At the close of the report, the chairman of the board credited the employees as the
most important factor in such favorable outcomes. Nearly 40 years later, the message and tone of the
FedEx Corporation (2015a) Annual Report was again boasting a transformative year, and crediting its
employees. But the success of FedEx Corporation, and specifically its air cargo and freight services
(known as FedEx Express), does not rely solely on the hard work of people. Instead, success is the
result of a vision, philosophy, approach, and perhaps simply some good fortune; all of which can be
found in closer look at the making of FedEx Express.
A Brief History of FedEx Express
In 1965, while attending Yale University as undergraduate student, a young Fred Smith submitted a
term paper detailing his vision of how the economic and logistical challenges facing delivery of time
sensitive shipments could be resolved using a simple, yet revolutionary, approach (Reichert, 2000). At
the time, air freight was primarily transported via air passenger flights. The thesis was that the
problem was air freight service being an add on to air passenger service, and the solution was to create
an air freight industry (Reichert, 2000). Although it was 50 years ago that Fred Smith received

The Trial And The Metamorphosis

Senior Project Essay
The Trial and The Metamorphosis are the two foremost works Franz Kafka has ever written. By doing
this, Franz makes the similarities and differences very obvious, yet each text is complex in their own
way. In The Trial and The Metamorphosis, Kafka uses unique aspects to compare the characters in
each novel. Each character is being forced by anonymous forces. They both go through loneliness to
find the meaning behind their suffering. Each similarity and difference in The Trial and The
Metamorphosis, come along with complexity that gives readers a deeper psychological view. In
having these similarities and differences, it can be arguable that the characters had inevitable deaths.
At the end, their death may or may not have been preventable which shows their struggle in each
story.
In both, The Trial and The Metamorphosis, the characters never find out who the anonymous forces
are. This is one of the dominant issues of both stories which concludes to be one of the similarities.
One of the examples would be from The Trial, in this scene of The Trial, Joseph K is leaving the bank
and as he is passing by a lumber room, he realizes that some of the warders are getting beaten. He
asked for the man beating them to stop but the man did not listen and continued to beat them. The
difference between these stories is that they handle their situation in a very different ways. In The
Metamorphosis,

The Trap Ease Mousetrap
If a man [can]... make a better mousetrap than his neighbor...the world will make a beaten path to his
door.
True, but only if the world perceives more value in it than the next door neighbor s.
Statement of the Problem
Despite the publicity and the proven uniqueness of Trap Ease mousetrap, both demand and sales fall
radically short of expectations. The purpose of this analysis is to identify the root of the problem and
how it can possibly be solved.
Price
It was stated in the article that the Trap Ease was approximately five to ten times more expensive than
the standard traps already present in the market. This is largely due to the innovative concept of
trapping mice in a mess free method, and not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The target market does not seem to be comfortable using such an expensive tool for everyday mice
control. Furthermore, the product has been introduced as something disposable. If customers had to
buy these mousetraps and use them only for a brief period of time, they would certainly not pay five
times as much if a cheaper one is available.
Product
Though change is constant, most people are not used to welcoming it with eagerness and enthusiasm.
So too with new products. It would take much effort and creativity for new products to penetrate a
market that already consists of similar merchandise. How a new product will fare would rely highly on
several factors such as quality, design, features, brand name, packaging, and services offered.
With its proven usefulness and effective trapping mechanism, the traditional mousetrap has very well
gained its niche in society over the years. Trap Ease, possessing a rather unique approach to mouse
trapping, offers quality inventories made of plastic which guarantees the full proof mechanism.
Its design and features enable consumers to avoid having direct physical contact with the mouse
throughout the whole ordeal of setting up, trapping, and disposing of the revolting creature. Opposite
this is the traditional mousetrap where one has to personally pull the metal spring bar to set the trap.
Once a mouse is locked in,

Compare And Contrast Stalin And Lenin
Lenin vs Stalin
Both Vladimir Lenin and Joseph Stalin were horrible leaders of the USSR but each do have their
positives and negatives. For instance, Lenin started off by giving proletarians (workers in general)
limited amount of freedoms but then created a new policy when the people disagreed with them.
Stalin, on the other hand, made Russia into an industrialized nation. However, this did cost lives of
millions of people by going to corrective labour camps. In my opinion, I believe that Vladimir Lenin
was the better leader.
I feel this because Lenin did have an intent to create a true communist state by having a classless
society while with Stalin, he wanted the USSR to make more money and get further industrialized. In
both cases it did

Differences Between Men And Women
Introduction
Communication style, as defined by the textbook, is the behaviors that are observable by others
(Reece, 2014). Men and women have general differences in communication style, whether in a formal
or informal setting. Linguistic style, as defined by Deborah Tannen, refers to a person s characteristic
speaking pattern. Men tend to be more direct and dominating, whereas, women exhibit a more
practical and indirect approach. Although these conclusions are generalizations, research has proven
that they are typical of the ordinary man and woman (Tannen, 1995).
Criticism
Criticism is a major issue that is unavoidable, but handled very differently by the opposing genders in
the workplace. When a woman is in charge, she may be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The male directive approach may work well when dealing with other men, from both a manager and
an employee s perspective, however, taking that approach when dealing with a female counterpart will
hinder them. The same goes for women, as mentioned in the example above. Their caring approach
will work well with other sensitive women, however, there will be miscommunication when applied to
an issue with a male counterpart.
Conflict
Women seek compromise when conflicts arise, but they sometimes fail to stand their ground. They
succumb to the dominating demeanor of men, who use their natural mannerism to their advantage.
This is an example of a hindrance to women, but an advantage to men. Men know that women work to
maintain a peaceful work environment and if backing down in a disagreement is what it takes, its
often the road taken (Warren, 2017).
Strengths
Women tend to have the upper hand in situations where listening skills, inclusive body language and
empathy are more highly valued . They display signs of genuine interest when others are speaking by
nodding their heads, leaning in, and smiling because they expect reciprocated behavior (Goman,
2016). Women have the need to feel valued and appreciated for their efforts. They seek approval from
their colleagues and managers. This is because women exhibit characteristics of a people oriented
style. On the contrary, men are thought to take charge more readily and be viewed as more effective

Radiatio Radiation Essay
Physical agents, such as: Temperature, Desiccation, Osmotic pressure and Radiation. Temperature is
very important factor that categorizes bacteria according to its adjustment to heat: psychrophiles,
mesophiles, thermophiles and hyperthermophiles. Each bacterium has its own minimum, optimum and
maximum temperature. If the temperature is below the minimum the effect becomes static, as it just
slows down the metabolism rate. However, when it is above the maximum, the effect becomes cidal,
as the proteins and enzymes of the cell are denatured. We can kill the vegetative cells and even
endospore by using high temperature methods, like: Moist heating (used in the Autoclave or by
boiling water); which is a very effective method used to kill endospores; because the moist heat can
penetrate the many layers that protects the endospore. Dry heating (Hot Air Sterilization, Incineration

radiation (gamma rays and x rays) has more energy which increases the penetrating power. This kind
of radiation ionizes water and other molecules to release free radical that damage the structure of DNA
molecules and its proteins. U.V. radiation has lower wavelength which means lower energy. This
radiation cannot penetrate surfaces, resulting in only damaging what s on the surface of exposure. The

Nonverbal Communication And Relationships With Family Members
Relationships are no walk in the park. If you want relationships to work everyone involved needs to
put in the work to communicate and work at keeping the relationship going. In my essay about
relationship stages I will discuss nonverbal communication in relationships, romantic relationships
and, relationships with family members. Nonverbal communication is a way to communicate without
speaking and communicating verbally. According to McCornack, we define nonverbal communication
as the intentional or unintentional transmission of meaning through an individuals non spoken
physical and behavioral cues (211). In relationships, an outsider can observe two people and tell what
kind of relationship they share without hearing the way they speak to each other. Nonverbal
communication is just as important as verbal communication. Nonverbal communication crucially
serves to create intimacy between two people (McCornack, 234). According to McCornack intimacy is
the feeling of closeness and union that exists between us and our partners (234). I feel that young
people, including myself, think that being intimate goes with having sex. I was corrected by a teacher
in high school who shared with me that being intimate with someone is not having sex. Since then I
have felt like I have had intimate relationships with not only my boyfriend but my best friend of 9
years. I share a bond with my best friend that is not like any other friendship I have. We self disclose,

Psychological vs Ethical Egoism Essay
Psychological Egoism and Ethical Egoism: A Comparison
Abstract
There is a certain innate desire to help others, just as others will feel that same fulfillment for returning
that aid. At the same time, however, there is also an inherent yearning to seek out one s own best
interest. This brings about a discussion regarding the difference between psychological egoism and
ethical egoism. To understand the similarities and differences, one must first understand the two
concepts including their natures, as well as their doctrines of motivation.

70) . Behind every action that a person makes is an underlying question about what that person will
get out of the action. According to Rachels, however, this remains an issue of human psychology as
opposed to being one of ethics. That being said, psychological egoism does have serious costs for
human morality. Should psychological egoism actually be correct, then it would mean that all of
society is composed of selfish individuals who care only for their own gain; it would therefore be
fruitless to discuss what people should be doing. On the other hand, ethical egoism is a theory that
prescribes moral obligation, where all people should be motivated out of self interest (Rachels, 2003,
p. 70). This means that every person ought to act in a way that is best for him/herself. Ethical egoism
claims that it is moral for all of an individual s actions to be based on self interest, without concerning
him/herself with the interests of others. In fact, this thought may be continued by stating that altruism
is, therefore, personally hindering and even demeaning (Brink, 1997, p. 122). Hence, ethical egoism
must consequently mean that actions taken in an individual s self interest are moral actions, and
actions taken that are not self beneficial to an individual are immoral and should, as a result, be
avoided. Ethical egoism is typically broken down into two categories: strong and weak. The strong
version of ethical egoism centers on the idea that it

The Pros And Cons Of The Divine Command Theory
Divine command theory is an ethical theory (metaethics) which asserts that an actions place as
morally good, is corresponding to whether or not it is commanded by God. The theory states, roughly,

obedience to God s commands. Divine Command Theory includes the claim that morality is
ultimately based on the commands or character of God, and that the morally right action is the one that
God commands or requires. Enthusiasts of both poly and monotheistic religions in both archaic and

Miley Cyrus s brand identity and start text was configured through her years on her hit sitcom. She
was known as a young sweet innocent teenage girl that believed in love. Through her evolution she

Excessive of Self restraint in Saint Augustine s Confessions

But Aristotle writes,
There is also a type who feels less joy than he should at the things of the body and, therefore, does not
abide by the dictates of reason. . . . For a morally weak person does not abide by the dictates of reason,
because he feels more joy than he should in bodily things, but the man under discussion feels less joy
than he should. (NE22)[2]
Aristotle does not give a name to this type of person, so we shall call him the moral martyr. Moral
martyrs abandon worldly pleasures such as friendship, food, and entertainment for the apparent
benefits of self restraint. Therefore, they are deficient in their enjoyment of worldly pleasures and
excessive in their use of self restraint.
Saint Augustine has clearly taken the path of moral martyrdom. He writes, The eye is attracted to
beautiful objects, by gold and silver and all such things. There is great pleasure, too, in feeling
something agreeable to the touch, and material things have various qualities to please each of the other
senses . . . . But our ambition to obtain all these things must not lead us astray (Conf., 48). In claiming
this much, he is in agreement with Aristotle a man who pursues every pleasurable thing in life is
succumbing to moral weakness. But instead of merely advising restraint, Saint Augustine encourages
the complete avoidance of worldly pleasures. For example, he writes, I admit that I still find some
enjoyment in the music of hymns . . . . I confess

Marijuana Vs Marijuana Essay
Alcohol vs Marijuana: Which is more harmful to your health?
By Alfonzo Porter
Is getting drunk on alcohol worse than getting high on cannabis? This has been one of the most
debated questions throughout the majority of the 20th century until this very day. It s been nearly 85
years since the 21st Amendment to the Constitution repealed the prohibition of alcohol in the U.S. in
1933. With liquor now legal, citizens were free to indulge without restriction. This, while marijuana
continued to be classified as a schedule one drug and remained illegal nationally until the states of
Colorado and Washington legalized recreational pot in 2012. However, the hypocrisy of alcohol s
legalization decades ago did not go unnoticed.
The research into the health effects of marijuana is still in its infancy. However,
It has been demonstrated that using either alcohol or marijuana can have health consequences. They
are both intoxicants and can have long terms effects on the mind and body. It is a complex issue
because the two are difficult to compare.
Drinking too much liquor can be deadly. If your body is incapable of metabolizing alcohol as fast as it
is consumed leads to a build up of toxins in the brain that causes vital functions, needed for survival,
to shut down. Marijuana, on the other hand, has been found to increase the heart rate and blood
pressure. Yet, cannabis has not caused death as a result of overuse.
If you are on medication, alcohol might not mix well or interact with

Be As You Are, By Mike Posner
In Mike Posner s song Be As You Are he shows the importance of individuality. As he sings about
being different, himself, he shows understanding of the pressures brought upon people who influence
individuality or are different. If your friends cannot stand you as yourself, it shows who they really
were and they wanted you for a different reason than you wanted. Even if nobody stands with you for
individuality, you will always be yourself and that s the best you that you can be. Hence, it is your
greatest achievement just to have individuality.
First and foremost, having belief in and having individuality can improve mood and emotion control.

Although some believe following someone else is best, this is a fallacy. Individuality is best because
you know who you are. Don t care about what others think, it s what you think that matters the most.
Being free to care about yourself is better than caring about what others think and following them.
When everyone is gone the only one there is you. Who will control you then? You will control

In conclusion, individuality is best. With an increased mood, leadership, and decrease in insecurities,
individuality is better than following others just to hit a brick wall or have opposite and harmful

Typically, people ages 30 to 65 have been the most likely to vote in the past years. This is in great

Designing A Design A Structure And Present It
The very first architect can be traced all the way back to the 27th century BC in ancient Egypt. His
name was Imhotep, who designed and planned the Pyramid of Djoser and is said to be responsible for
being the first to use columns in architecture (McRae). An architect can be described as some who
designs, plans, and perhaps even constructs buildings. Within the broad definition, the job of an
architect s spreads throughout the spectrum. Architects do much more than simply design a structure
and present it to a client. An architect must carry a variety of characteristics and knowledge that can
vary from project to project. Architects find themselves having to study a series of subjects such as
psychology, real estate, to even politics that contribute to their careers. Overall, an architect has to an
extent three basic sets of skills: math, drawing, and creative thinking. Architects use these three skills
in order to succeed in their field.
Although these three skills are necessary, many architects are not masters at these skills; many more
are afraid of having to know complex mathematics. Architect students will need the necessary skills of
math, drawing, and creative thinking in order to become successful architects. The rumors that an
architect has to be a mastermind in math is essentially false. Many architects agree that math used

math is used in architecture, it

Merida is an adolescent proclaiming with unwavering certainty, The one thing we [all] search for is

Essay On The Impact Of 1968
THE IMPACT OF 1968
The world revolution of 1968 of course primarily concerned a series of major political issues: the
hegemony of the United States and its world policies, which had led it into the Vietnam war; the
relatively passive attitude of the Soviet Union, which the 1968 revolutionaries saw as collusion with
the United States; the inefficacy of the traditional Old Left movements in opposing the status quo. In
retrospect, 1968, the year of global revolt halfway between the end of World War II and the end of the
Cold War, looked like a failed revolution. Nonetheless, the impacts of 1968 formulated ever gradually
progressing definitions of today s world system.

Thus, arose the revolutionary movements focus on various social issues such as peace activism, anti
racism, feminism, environmentalism and so on. These issues were of a social trend rather than

Stereotypes Of Books
Reading books allow us to create worlds in our owns mind, make you understand what characters are
going through and how they are experiencing things around them. Sometimes when I read, I get lost in
the words that I am not even aware of my surrounding. I enjoy reading and would not want to be
limited and being discourage on what I should read. Reading is an intellectual skill demanding mental
energy to understand, imagination, reflect from past experiences, to look back into, to learn new words
in print using our vocabulary, and enjoy the process. Books should just be books and don t have to be
label to a specific gender. There is a stereotype about books label for girls or for boys. Boys are falling

Society for Research in Child Development found that from a very young age children think boys are
academically inferior to girls, and they believe that adults think so. This show that if we believe that
boys will not enjoy reading especially girl books this will affect how they are think and will start to
believe what people are saying about those type of books. If we keep discouraging boys that reading
girl books are shameful from when they were a kid, it s helping this stereotype, that girl books are
unworthy to read by boys, become a

Long Distance Rates And Revenue
As long distance rates and revenue declined, the debt and expenses piled up and put pressure on
WorldCom s ability to meet key performance indicators and earnings forecasts (J. Randel Kuhn
Sutton, 2006). The line cost was the biggest expense for WorldCom and half of its total expenses.
Management committed to achieve a low line cost to revenue ratio because lower ratio meant better
performance and higher ratio meant poorer performance. Management focused on lowering the line
cost level expense (J. Randel Kuhn Sutton, 2006). It carried out two improper accounting methods to
reduce the amount of line costs (Beresford, Katzenbach, C.B. Rogers, 2003). First, it released the
accruals, the amounts kept aside on WorldCom s financial statements to pay expected bills which is
also called cookie jar reserve from 1999 2000 (Beresford, Katzenbach, C.B. Rogers, 2003). These
accruals were supposed to reflect the estimate line costs and other expenses that WorldCom had not
yet paid (Beresford, Katzenbach, C.B. Rogers, 2003). Releasing the accrual is appropriate when it
turns out that less is needed to pay the bills than has been expected to pay. Instead, WorldCom
provided offset against reported line costs when the accrual was released which reduced reported
expenses and increased pre tax income (Beresford, Katzenbach, C.B. Rogers, 2003).
When the accruals started to run out, WorldCom came up with another method, capitalization of line
costs. WorldCom started classifying

My First White Water Fracking Expedition
The excitement of my first whitewater rafting expedition soon evaporated, like an elusive dream. The
rolling, brown waves played a dangerous game of leapfrog before me, turning white for a brief second
before crashing down as their turn concluded. The overpowering roar of the water almost drowned out
the shouting voices of the sun kissed guides. Grab a life jacket and a helmet! Then go by a raft! Hurry
it up, let s move! Feeling not quite as prepared as I would have liked, I was nonetheless ushered onto a
blue raft. We were told to shove one foot under the inflatable seat in front of us in order to not capsize
during the excursion. An increasing numbness crept up my leg as my foot began to throb, diverting my
attention for only a moment. The high pitched squeals and yells of those already meandering down the
river snapped me out of my daze as I looked around to assure that my largest fear had not come true
for someone else. A small ripple ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The tip of my plastic paddle plunged into the dirty water below me in a furious down and back
motion. Sprays and mists of water lashed onto my face as a form of payback for disrupting the river s
fluid movement. My eyelids blinked rapidly in an effort to remove the water from my eyes, for I could
not risk letting go of the paddle. The river carried our raft in a rapid up, down, and side to side roller
coaster motion. All of a sudden a mammoth wave sprung up before our eyes, tempting us to stay on
the thin edges of the raft. The six of us ducked into the shallow bed of the raft and screamed in a
combination of both excitement and fear. After it had passed, we quickly popped our heavily saturated
selves back up and continued to obey the shouting commands of our guide. His expertise of the
voyage gave me the reassurance I needed to become comfortable. A natural routine developed, and a
smile played across my lips. A bit of laughter rolled off of my tongue, for I was conquering my

You Just Dont Understand By Deborah Tannen
Every day, at home or at workplaces, people engage in conversations involving the opposite gender.
How does gender play a critical role in a conversation? Reasonings behind the existence of genderlect
are quite complex. Bill Cosby once said Men and women belong to different species and
communication between them is a science still in it infancy (Eisenberg). Men and women are born
with the same brains. However, the way they function differently when having conversations. When
men and women communicate, men mostly use the left side of their brains while women are capable
of using both sides explaining the excellent in their multi tasking skills. Surprisingly, biological
differences are not responsible for the genderlect, but the social norms and cultural backgrounds.
These factors further differentiate conversations between men and women. Deborah Tannen, professor
of linguistics at Georgetown University has written extensively on genderlect in her national best
selling book, You Just Don t Understand: Women and Men in Conversation. In her book (Tannen,
1990), she explores in depth about different conversational styles of men and women with relatable
examples. She also suggests some steps that could be taken to relieve people s frustrations towards
each other s differences. Tannen s focus is mainly on the sociolinguistic side of linguistics and the
verbal communication. According to the book (1990), genderlect can be caused by the difference in
the environments people

The Daintree Rainforest houses the most primitive flora in the world and 12 out of 19 families are
found here, namely the Austrobaileyaceae and Idiospermaceae.
The break up of Gondwana:
In the Daintree Rainforest, a myriad of fauna found resembles the most ancient animals that once
roamed the land of Gondwana. For example, the most ancient member of the kangaroo family is: the
musky rat kangaroo also known as: Hypsiprymnodon moschatus. This small brown animal has stayed
the same over 20 million years. Also, frogs that come from the following families: Myobatrachidae
and Hylidae are originated from Gonwana. Such frogs found in the Daintree Rainforest are: the Sharp
Snouted Torrent Frog Taudactylus acutirostris.
Biological evolution and radiation during thirty five million years of isolation:
The Daintree Rainforest shows how this Wet Tropics location was once isolated as well as linked with
other rainforests. The national park contains tall and open sclerophyll and mangrove forests on the
western margins where it is dry. Eucalypts as well as sclerophyll have progressed from rainforest stock
and radiated into drier environments from the margins of closed forests.
The origin and radiation of songbirds:
Birds have evolved from Australian ancestral stock. For example Lyrebirds (Menuridae), scrub birds
(Atrichornithidae), and treecreepers (Climacteridae) belong to the most ancient passerine generations

The company of my choice is EnQuest PLC, the largest UK independent oil producer in the UK North Sea. 1. About The Model Porter s Five Forces model is designed to assess the attractiveness of an industry based on the actual or potential competition through the following five forces: Rivalry Among Existing Competitors; Threat of New Entrants; Bargaining Power of Buyers; Bargaining Power of Suppliers; Threat of Substitute Products or Services (Johnson et al., 2014). The framework is a holistic approach to analysing any industry and is based on the principle that the stronger the five forces are, the less attractive it is to compete. Hence, high threat of new entrants and substitutes combined with high bargaining power of buyers and suppliers diminishes industry profitability (Porter 2008). 1.1 Advantages Historically, the Five Forces Framework has ... A Study On New Orleans Essay 32 | spring 2016 get involved www. kappa.org | 33 For more than two centuries, coffee has been a fundamental part of the culinary and social culture of New Orleans. It s not just the city s penchant for chicory café au lait served alongside warm beignets. Nor is it just landmark gathering spots like Café du Monde and or Morning Call Coffee Stand that spawned the notion of the laborers coffee break and served locals and tourists for generations. And it isn t solely boozy Café Brulôt, the brandy spiked coffee drink New Orleans families serve in slender china cups that makes New Orleans a true coffee town. Alongside these the gustatory expressions is the city s historic and longstanding role in the coffee trade. New Orleans has been a significant coffee port for more than 200 years. Since the early 19th century, import companies have brought in green coffee beans from around the world through the Port of New Orleans. Today, it is the second largest coffee port in the country. Among those importers, Westfeldt Brothers Inc. is one of the oldest of its kind in the United States. The company was first founded in Mobile, Alabama, in 1851 by Swedish Vice Consul Gustavus Adolphus George Westfeldt, who had immigrated to the U.S. in 1835. Westfeldt moved to New Orleans in 1853. By 1880, his company had become one of the country s principal green coffee importers. Since then, it has been run by six generations of Westfeldts. • 4. Egoism Vs Altruism Essay The ethical debate between Egoism and Altruism was extremely interesting to read about. I truly had an aha moment because this debate is a topic that is rarely tackled or approached from the perspective that being selfish is not a bad thing. At first, I thought this argument against altruism was insane, however, once I tried to think of examples that prove its insanity I thought of nothing. This is when I came to the conclusion that yes, whether its selfishness or selflessness, both have different meanings to different people. Laurena Becker, in her article Encyclopedia of Ethics, mentioned that one of the definitions for selflessness is a regard for the well being of others for its own sake (35). I believe this is the definition that most people refer to. For example, when we think about a sister staying up all night to take care of her younger sibling whose sick, we tend to say aww, she s so sweet and selfless . However, can we even say that a sibling is selfless for taking care of her own sibling? A part of me views that as being her job as an older sister while another part of me also views this as being a kind gesture; and in actuality it may be a little bit of both. This aspect interferes with Rand s statement, in the book Objectively ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The person is not only going to feel more satisfied with themselves but would also be doing those who are less fortunate a favor. The amendments to HCC s United Student Council constitution is changing the student government system from Student Appointed Representatives to a senator system akin to how the University of Houston s student government operates. The change cuts out one layer of student government, and is intended to make student government officers more accountable and cooperative district wide. When transformation started, all student organizations became district wide organizations, so technically HCC has had seven operational district wide student government organizations for the past two years. • 6. How Did Queen Victoria Influence British Society Victoria was the longest reigning British monarch and the figurehead of a vast empire. She oversaw huge changes in British society and gave her name to an age. When Queen Victoria assumed the British throne in 1837 at the tender age of 18, she became an associated symbol with the rapid changes that the nation of Great Britain endured to be a powerful, industrial nation that boasted an empire that stretched across the globe . Her main political issue that she strived to amend was gaining political power for the British monarchy. Without her knowledge, she led towards the transformation of the monarch s political role into a traditional state. This meant that throughout the years of her reign, direct political power moved away from the Queen. However, she was still able to exert a powerful influence over her ministers during important political moments through her high levels of prestige, her determination to master her knowledge of political affairs, but also her strong will and harsh sense of moral righteousness and self discipline . Her high level of influence was especially demonstrated when she was able to successfully mediate conflicts between the Commons and the Lords during the much debated passing of the Irish Church Disestablishment Act of 1869 and the 1884 Reform Act. When she first became queen, there were no clear means of the true political role of the crown let alone the permanence of the monarchy itself. The aim of her rule was to cement the British monarchy into everyday British life. During her early years of being queen, her political confidant was the then current British Prime Minister, Lord Melbourne; however this role changed to her husband. Victoria was famous for her relationships with the ever changing Prime Ministers during her time of rule which ranged from affectionate to cold. No matter who was Prime Minister, she demanded to be informed of political matters even though she had no political input, and necessitated all aspects of business and administrative details that occurred in politics. Because her role did not exude copious amounts of power in the political affairs of Britain, Queen Victoria principally engaged her role of the crown to include the monarchy ... They were forced to adapt to western culture, and in this many of the Kiowa people were converted to Christianity. Christianity is said to be a very important aspect of many Native American cultures still today, but the way in which Christianity is portrayed and practiced in such societies, including that of the Kiowa, stays true to both the religion itself and their Native practices. The Kiowa are said to have kiowanized Christianity. The Kiowa version of Christianity is said to differ from the white man s way. This means that they believe in God, integrate their culture and lifestyles into Christianity, and they also relay the importance of their religion in a different manner. They use their native language in their hymns, and these hymns are comprised primarily of those elements that pertain directly to Kiowa culture. In the text Lassiter states, Kiowa hymns give life to a unique Kiowa experience, preserve the language, and affirm and ongoing (and continually unfolding) Kiowa spirituality. This reveals the effectiveness and importance of the integration of Christianity and native Kiowa practices. Language has been a central focus of anthropological interest for many reasons. The core of modern cryptography is the construction and analyzation of protocols of various aspects in information security such as data integrity and confidentiality, authentication, and non repudiation. Modern practice of cryptography involves cryptographic method. First cryptographic method is the Symmetric Key Algorithm also known as Secret key Cryptography. The symmetry of algorithm comes from both parties involved sharing the same key for both data encryption and decryption. It works like a physical door where anyone who has the right locking and unlocking uses a copy of the same key. Symmetric key Algorithm works by taking the message and combining it with a shared key that inputs the algorithm then outputs a ciphered message. Two ways of symmetric key algorithm encryption involve block ciphers and stream ciphers. • 12. Disengagement Theory Research Paper According to the text, there are three types of psychosocial theories of aging the disengagement theory, activity theory, and continuity theory. Disengagement theory proposes that when people age they will gradually withdraw from the world and society. They will become less interested in the world. The reason being is that older people have lower energy levels and are incapable of functioning in a way that is productive and energetic. The activity theory is the contrast of the disengagement theory. The activity theory suggests that aging looks different in different people. Older people who lives an active lifestyle typically maintain that existence; therefore, ages successfully. Whereas, those who lived an inactive lifestyle may age unsuccessfully. For example, my grandmother who has been retired for seven years now stays active by involving herself in volunteer work, joining clubs, and socializing. • 13. The Death Of The Moth By Virginia Woolf Since the beginning of time, humans have known that death is inevitable and it cannot be stopped. Death can occur in many forms including natural, medical, and suicidal deaths. Because death is so prevalent in everyone s lives it is very common for an author to touch on the subject. An example of this would be Virginia Woolf, the author of the essay The Death of the Moth. In this piece, Virginia Woolf tells a story about a moth that in the end eventually passes away; which connects with the subject of death. Through the use of pathos, imagery and her use of short, specific sentences amidst her long, flowing ones, Woolf shows that death is inevitable. Woolf uses pathos through the entirety of her essay to create an overall tone of sadness and pity. In the beginning of the essay, she touches specifically on the way that the moth lives on a daily basis. Woolf writes, The possibilities of pleasure seemed that morning so enormous and so various that to have only a moth s part in life, and a day moth s at that, appeared a hard fate, and his zest in enjoying his meagre opportunities to the full, pathetic. Virginia Woolf tells the reader that out of all the possibilities in life, that the moth only witnesses and experiences a small section of the world and that there is a certain pity for the small creature. The author continues to expand on the tone of the overall piece by later explaining in her essay the pity she has for the tiny moth. Woolf states, Again, the thought of all that life might have been had he been born in any other shape cause one to view his simple activities with a kind of pity. She specifically uses the emotional appeal because, as humans, the audience does not want to think about the smaller creatures in life and what they experience, and when Virginia Woolf fully brings forward this thought, the audience is struck with emotion. The emotion that she creates at this stage of the essay, then accumulates to her final thought, is that death is inevitable. Throughout Virginia Woolf s essay, she includes multiple vivid scenes of the moth s death to show the reader how death always comes no matter how hard someone tries. By doing this, Franz makes the similarities and differences very obvious, yet each text is complex in their own way. In The Trial and The Metamorphosis, Kafka uses unique aspects to compare the characters in each novel. Each character is being forced by anonymous forces. They both go through loneliness to find the meaning behind their suffering. Each similarity and difference in The Trial and The Metamorphosis, come along with complexity that gives readers a deeper psychological view. In having these similarities and differences, it can be arguable that the characters had inevitable deaths. At the end, their death may or may not have been preventable which shows their struggle in each story. In both, The Trial and The Metamorphosis, the characters never find out who the anonymous forces are. This is one of the dominant issues of both stories which concludes to be one of the similarities. • 29. Nonverbal Communication And Relationships With Family Members Relationships are no walk in the park. If you want relationships to work everyone involved needs to put in the work to communicate and work at keeping the relationship going. In my essay about relationship stages I will discuss nonverbal communication in relationships, romantic relationships and, relationships with family members. Nonverbal communication is a way to communicate without speaking and communicating verbally. According to McCornack, we define nonverbal communication as the intentional or unintentional transmission of meaning through an individuals non spoken physical and behavioral cues (211). In relationships, an outsider can observe two people and tell what kind of relationship they share without hearing the way they speak to each other. Nonverbal communication is just as important as verbal communication. Nonverbal communication crucially serves to create intimacy between two people (McCornack, 234). According to McCornack intimacy is the feeling of closeness and union that exists between us and our partners (234). I feel that young people, including myself, think that being intimate goes with having sex. I was corrected by a teacher in high school who shared with me that being intimate with someone is not having sex. Since then I have felt like I have had intimate relationships with not only my boyfriend but my best friend of 9 years. I share a bond with my best friend that is not like any other friendship I have. We self disclose, and we have a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Psychological vs Ethical Egoism Essay Psychological Egoism and Ethical Egoism: A Comparison Abstract There is a certain innate desire to help others, just as others will feel that same fulfillment for returning that aid. At the same time, however, there is also an inherent yearning to seek out one s own best interest. This brings about a discussion regarding the difference between psychological egoism and ethical egoism. To understand the similarities and differences, one must first understand the two concepts including their natures, as well as their doctrines of motivation. According to Rachels, however, this remains an issue of human psychology as opposed to being one of ethics. That being said, psychological egoism does have serious costs for human morality. Should psychological egoism actually be correct, then it would mean that all of society is composed of selfish individuals who care only for their own gain; it would therefore be fruitless to discuss what people should be doing. On the other hand, ethical egoism is a theory that prescribes moral obligation, where all people should be motivated out of self interest (Rachels, 2003, p. 70). This means that every person ought to act in a way that is best for him/herself. Ethical egoism claims that it is moral for all of an individual s actions to be based on self interest, without concerning him/herself with the interests of others. In fact, this thought may be continued by stating that altruism is, therefore, personally hindering and even demeaning (Brink, 1997, p. 122). Hence, ethical egoism must consequently mean that actions taken in an individual s self interest are moral actions, and actions taken that are not self beneficial to an individual are immoral and should, as a result, be avoided. Ethical egoism is typically broken down into two categories: strong and weak. The strong version of ethical egoism centers on the idea that it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

(NE22)[2] Aristotle does not give a name to this type of person, so we shall call him the moral martyr. Moral martyrs abandon worldly pleasures such as friendship, food, and entertainment for the apparent benefits of self restraint. Therefore, they are deficient in their enjoyment of worldly pleasures and excessive in their use of self restraint. Saint Augustine has clearly taken the path of moral martyrdom. This has been one of the most debated questions throughout the majority of the 20th century until this very day. With liquor now legal, citizens were free to indulge without restriction. It is a complex issue because the two are difficult to compare. Drinking too much liquor can be deadly. If your body is incapable of metabolizing alcohol as fast as it is consumed leads to a build up of toxins in the brain that causes vital functions, needed for survival, to shut down. An architect can be described as some who designs, plans, and perhaps even constructs buildings. Within the broad definition, the job of an architect s spreads throughout the spectrum. Architects do much more than simply design a structure and present it to a client. An architect must carry a variety of characteristics and knowledge that can vary from project to project. Management committed to achieve a low line cost to revenue ratio because lower ratio meant better performance and higher ratio meant poorer performance. Management focused on lowering the line cost level expense (J. Randel Kuhn Sutton, 2006). It carried out two improper accounting methods to reduce the amount of line costs (Beresford, Katzenbach, C.B. Rogers, 2003). Instead, WorldCom provided offset against reported line costs when the accrual was released which reduced reported expenses and increased pre tax income (Beresford, Katzenbach, C.B. Rogers, 2003).
