Inspector Goole In An Inspector Calls Essay
Explore the characterization and role of Inspector Goole in An Inspector Calls .
An inspector calls was set in 1912 but it was written by J.B Priestly in 1945 which means it was
performed in 1946.
The author s purpose in this play was to convey to the audience that the world should be is equal
to everyone and everyone should be treated equally not divided in classed.
The writer used the Inspector Goole to give Mr. Birling s family a lesson as well as the writer s
thoughts about the situation. Hence, the Inspector Goole is one of the most important characters
because he is the one questioning the Birling family and making them see that they are responsible
for Eva Smith s death.
In the play it highlights the theme of the generation gaps. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Examples Of Deviance In American Horror Stories Freak Show
I chose the television series American Horror Stories to do my analysis on breaking the norm in
television. I chose this series because it breaks all of the norms due to its graphic content. The
show is geared for a more mature audience and is rated TV MA. Programs rated MA are
unsuitable for children under seventeen. There are many examples of deviance in American
Horror Stories Freak Show. There is clown with a gory and very bloody face that was bullied as a
child that now preys on other humans. He murders the innocent people by knocking them out with
a bowling pin and then stabbing them to death. The televisionshow bares all and shows the blood
and guts. The show focuses on torture, sexual deviance, violence, and death. There is a character

Defense Of Mary Warren In The Crucible By Arthur Miller
Emma Harrison 10/24/17 Ms. Ruiz Period 6Defense of Mary Warren When it comes to Arthur
Miller s allegorical work, The Crucible, very few characters can be deemed completely innocent.
While just about every person in this story has a flaw of envy, pride, or selfishness, characters can
often be sorted into the accuser or accused categories. One exception to this is Mary Warren.
Throughout the story, her loyalties switch back and forth between these two sides. Due to this,
she may seem like a selfish and unsympathetic character; that is not the case, however. Mary
Warren is an abused and manipulated child, whose decisions in the story are certainly justified,
given her situation. The first we see of Mary is when Betty falls ill after the the girls are caught
congregating in the woods. Immediately, we see she is terrified, fully aware that them being
accused of witchcraft would be a hangin error (1268). Abigail responds to her fear with an order to
lie; she threatens them with violence should they not obey her. Abigail is one of Mary Warren s
main abusers in the story. John Proctor, Mary s employer, enters the scene next. When he sees her
away from his house, he scolds her in a humiliating fashion, even threatening to whip her. From the
stage directions, we see she tries to retain a shred of dignity (1269), when this happens, leading to
the belief that this reproach from Proctor is common in her life. We don t hear from Mary again
until the beginning of Act II. She

Tax Exemptions in America
Decades ago, state and federal legislatures began offering tax exemptions, including exemptions
from property tax, for nonprofit institutions that provide charitable services to communities.
Nonprofit hospitals that qualify for federal tax exemption under Internal Revenue Code
В§501(c)(3) are not guaranteed state charitable taxexemptions. A hospital must provide some
amount of charity in order to be granted a state tax exemption, however historical statues have
failed to quantify what amount of charity is sufficient to meet the charitable purpose exemption .
In recent times, nonprofit hospitals repeatedly have to defend the amount of charity and benefit
they provide to the community to maintain their state property tax exempt status. There has been
a recent, notable case where a hospital lost its property tax exemption. In the case of Provena
Covenant Medical Center V. Illinois Department of Revenue, the Illinois Supreme Court held that
PCMC does not provide enough charity care to qualify for tax exemptions provided for nonprofit
organizations that provide charity care . Nonprofit hospitals are among the largest landowners in
many communities, in the US, billions of dollars in property is owned by nonprofit hospitals .
Most hospitals would owe millions in taxes if exempt properties were taxed. This report will
examine the Illinois Supreme court decision in Provena Covenant Medical Center v. Illinois
Department of Revenue, Case No. 107328, and analyze the courts

Analysis Of The American Flamingo
When I looked at John James Audubon painting of the American Flamingo, his painting describes
the nature of the life of the flamingos and how their body moves around for them to go on with
their nature. The aspects that Audubon caught while painting the American Flamingo, that in the
background of the big rose pink flamingo that takes up most the paint, there you see a flamingo
standing differently than the other flamingos around that one. Also the different angles of how the
flamingos move their neck around. When I look at the rose pink flamingo s legs I see how fragile
they look, but Audubon might have wanted to paint the flamingo s legs to show how delicate they
are. The paintingdoes not give off the dark and gloomy nature of life but the life that was given to
the flamingos. The color choice that Audubon use was vibrant and detailed for the flamingo in the
front but the flamingos behind was paler and ghost like.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Impact of Big Business on Politics and the Economy Essay
After the Civil war, large businesses ruled America. Prior to the industrial revolution, the
government upheld a hands off approach towards business. Under the laissez faire principle, free,
unregulated markets led to competition, yet this system suffered under the wrath of growing
corporations. The impact of big business on the economy and politics was immense during 1870 to
1899. Corporations were growing significantly in number and size, which had a domineering affect
on American economy and defined American life. The growing corporations in America dominated
most of the economy, creating a large gap between the rich and the poor. During this time period
food, lightening, and fuel prices declined significantly, and the cost of living... Show more content

This illustrates that the Senate is controlled by big business, and how easily wealthy people had
power over the government. Moreover, the railroad presidents were seen as kings, they could
delay lawsuits, control the government and the people, corrupt communities, and control the press
(DOC B). Important railroad companies dictated government policies because the legal system
favored railroad interests. Further, trying to better the political system, the Populist Party made
themselves known. Their platform demanded that the government be restored to the hands of the
plain people. They wanted to end oppression, injustice, and poverty (DOC F). Evidently, they
were dedicated to political and social reform, and urged that the government be strengthened and
take responsibility of the people. The harsh working conditions resulting from industrialization
drove laborers to organize into unions. Economist David A. Wells compares working in a
factory to working in the military because workers are taught to perform one single task.
Moreover, manufacturing has largely taken away workers pride in their work (DOC C). Mass
production techniques led to specialization of labor, which subsequently decreased workers pride
in their craft, as well as left workers largely unskilled. Further Samuel Gompers, founder of the AF
to L, addressed the International Labor Congress in Chicago and stated that people should not be
considered property. He advocated that labor

Solution Of Homelessness In Canada
According to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (Henry et al., 2016), over
500,000 people were homeless in the United States on one given night in January 2016. The
Canadian Observatory on Homelessness reported that 35,000 people were homeless in Canada
around the same time and that at least 235,000 Canadians experience homelessnessat some point in
a year (Gaetz et al., 2016).
Although both the U.S. and Canada have made some effort toward reducing and ending
homelessness, it clearly still remains a serious problem in both countries. While some communities,
such as New Orleans and Bergen County in the U.S. and Medicine Hat in Canada, have made
headlines for making significant progress toward ending homelessness, far more ... Show more

As homelessness became a larger issue in the country, the federal government began to pay more
attention to it. In 1987, Congress passed the Stewart B. McKinney Homeless Assistance Act, which
provided funding for emergency food and shelter programs specifically designed for the homeless
(Padgett et al., 2016). The Act also created the United States Interagency Council on Homelessness
(USICH), which was largely inactive until 2002 (Padgett et al., 2016). At this point, federal
homelessness policy managed homelessness by providing shelters and other short term solutions,
as opposed to preventing homelessness and actually getting people off the street.
Despite millions of dollars from Congress funding services for the homeless, homelessness did
not decrease in he U.S. during the 1980s or 1990s. Since then, an ideology known as Housing
First has come into popularity, which will be elaborated on in the literature review section. The
National Alliance to End Homelessness (NAEH) defines Housing First as a homeless assistance
approach that prioritizes providing people experiencing homelessness with permanent housing as
quickly as possible and then providing voluntary supportive services as needed ( Housing First ).

Secession Dbq Essay
During the 1850s, the political climate in America was one of tension, turmoil, and division.
Although there was great opposition for the scandalous Kansas Nebraska Act of 1854, the bill
passed and resulted in the creation of the Republican party. The creation of a new political party
portrayed a division among specific regional states within America. Ultimately, disagreement with
the Union brought forth the topic of secession. In 1861, Texas Governor Sam Houston faced a
difficult decision: to favor or oppose the secession of Texas. Union Sam Houston: The idea of
secession could be an act of defiance, rather than defense. Inherently, our rights are not being

The Union wishes to suppress and maybe even outlaw slavery, while we aim to expand slavery.
The Union supported a free Kansas while we proposed for the state to decide whether they
would allow slavery. If we stay in the Union, the desire to abolish slavery may be forced upon us.
Slavery is the backbone of our economy and we must preserve it. Union Sam Houston: On the
other hand, it might just be better to stay together. We are legitimized as a Union and are
recognized by foreign affairs. This impacts our trade which promotes a stabilized economy and
nation. We are stronger together and differences can be worked on through compromise.
Secession Sam Houston: Compromise may be out of the picture because we have experienced
wrongdoings by the Union. For instance, the Union s violation of returning our fugitive slaves
under the Fugitive Slave Law is unacceptable. Additionally, it would be more ideal to have the
ability of setting our own tariffs and slave policy. The idea of compromise is naive and may
continue leading to the suppression of Southern desires. Union Sam Houston: Maybe we are just
not willing to sacrifice our own interests for such compromise. If we voice our interest to work
together, we could avoid violence. Essentially, persisting with secession could lead to a civil

Civilization Huntington Summary
While reading this article I was п»їп»їable to iidentify ways Huntington talks about and uses
religion in his assessment of world affairs, the composition of civilizations, and how civilizations
interact with each other. Democracy is like religion it can be seen as a imperialistic venture if it
is not grown at home. trying to convert a person is always a act of bigotry. Without the ideology of
collectivism, the new enemy would then be based on culture or maybe even religion. I believe that
Huntington identifies the civilizationin the religious divisions because civilization is a cultural
entity. (2) All groups for example: ethnic groups, religious groups, regions, nationatilies, and

But civilization is larger groups all coming together and having a more comfortable and productive
life. Throughout this article it shows how Huntington makes religion the most important aspect of
civilization . Which is one of the ways to define civilization . Huntington believed that the people
of different civilizations had different views on the relations between God and man, the individual
and the group , the citizen and the state, parents and children , husbands and wifes , as well as
different views of he relative importance of rights and responsibilities , liberty and authority
equality and hierarchy. (8) Throughout history religion definitly played a big role in the
development. Religions such as Islam , Buddhism and Hindu have spread to the kingdoms
throughout the entire world , by the use of missionaries. Religions became popular because they
were a way of understanding unexplainable things at the time , and I believe thats why Huntington
made it the most important aspect f civilization. However , we still have unanswered questions
today, now we have the intelligence to understand the facts to prove a theory and the need for
evidence.

Observation Reflection
A few weeks ago our group sat in the Starbucks located on campus for 20 minutes observing
people who sat, stood and walked around. In this time we had four different sets of eyes looking
around and taking notes. The following is a summary of our observations to answer the required
questions. A difficulty we may have encountered if we would have stayed in the same location
longer is people would have noticed. People were extremely busy, but as time went by one girl
did notice there was something odd about our table and began to stare. That would have made it
awkward and caused a distraction of what our goal if more people noticed us. Another difficulty
would be our notes would have been repetitive and it would have been hard focusing. As observers,
constantly seeing the same thing, it would just be too much for us.
During the observation period we conducted as a group, we felt that it would be very easy since
we naturally observe people in our free time. Though through time we felt very creepy and
somewhat stupid just sitting around staring at people and writing notes. Nevertheless, an overall
feeling was that it was interesting sitting. We observed our fellow classmates, Rutgers students and
faculty staff who passed by.
Overall, in the quality and accuracy of our field notes and conclusions, we would be very
confident since we had four different perspectives observing the same location, front, back and
sides of the room. All of us coming up with both similarities in our

The Cause and Effects of Anorexia
The Cause and Effects of Anorexia Anorexia nervosa, commonly referred to simply as anorexia,
is one type of eating disorder. More importantly, it is also a psychological disorder. Anorexia is a
condition that goes beyond out of control dieting. A person with anorexia often initially begins
dieting to lose weight. Over time, the weight loss becomes a sign of mastery and control. The
drive to become thinner is actually secondary to concerns about control and/or fears relating to
one s body. The individual continues the endless cycle of restrictive eating, often accompanied by

When anorexics finally come to the attention of the health care professional, they often lack
insight into their problem despite being severely malnourished and may be unreliable in terms of
providing accurate information. Therefore, it is often necessary to obtain information from
parents or other family members in order to evaluate the degree of weight loss and extent of the
disorder. Health professionals will sometimes administer questionnaires for anorexia as part of
screening for the disorder. Anorexia can have dangerous psychological and behavioral effects on
all aspects of an individual s life and can affect other family members as well. The individual can
become seriously underweight, which can lead to depression and social withdrawal. The individual
can become irritable and easily upset and have difficulty interacting with others. Sleep can become
disrupted and lead to fatigue during the day.Attention and concentration can decrease. * Most
individuals with anorexia become obsessed with food and thoughts of food. They think about it

they may exhibit other obsessions and/or compulsions related to food, weight, or body shape that

Athenian Democracy and Divination Essay
Athenian Democracy and Divination
Divination was a prevalent feature in Archaic Greece, as it provided objective advice, to assist
people in making appropriate decisions in problematic predicaments. In certain situations its
ambiguity allowed decisions to be postponed, or blame to be assigned to others. Divination was also
used to explain matters that seemed unexplainable, such as crop failure or drought. This is
illustrated in the Homeric epics, which depicts numerous oracle interpreters, such as Calchas,
consulting oracles on domestic, as well as, military decisions. Divination was a guiding authority in
ancient society. However, during the fifth and fourth century BC, the democratic... Show more

Furthermore, when the Athenians suggest to the Melians that they should become allies with them,
against the Spartans, the Melians state:

In contrast, the Athenians dismiss the protection of the gods, and state:
This kind of attitude is not going to be of much help to you in your absurd conquest for safety at the
moment .[4]
Thucydides portrays the Athenians in an arrogant light, which suggests that they will get their
comeuppance for such sacrilegious opinions. Furthermore, Thucydides also highlights the scientific
approach that the Athenians have towards their domination of the Peloponnese, suggesting that it is
the law of nature , that they should conquer as much as they can. The rise of freethinking, that the
democracy had established, had lead to the neglect of the gods. In comparison, Xerxes, in his
conquest to dominate Greece, complies with a dream that is sent from the gods, which indicates to
him and Artabanus that he should continue with the Persian wars.[5] Herodotus, writing in the
early fifth century, highlights the importance of following divination, whereas, Thucydides, writing
in the later fifth century, focuses on decisions made by the people.

House Of The Red Fish Loyalty Quotes
In the story, House of the Red Fish Tomi s situations and what he has to go through everyday
teaches many about Tomi s loyalty to others, during the whole entire book. In the book he goes
through tough times but still shows care and helps others without thinking about himself first.
There is a substantial amount of evidence to support my reasonings from the book which will be
used to explain why Tomi is so loyal.
One word that will help explain Tomi s loyalty is the word Kind which Tomi show many times
throughout the book. Tomi s kindness towards other is a very important key evidence to why
Tomi s so loyal. What makes Tomi so kind is the fact that Tomi doesn t act rude to his friends and
he always sticks by their sides. This is clearly stated in the book and one evidence in the book to
prove this is in Chapter 10 page 49 it says For Tomi, I going be Japanese. which is pretty much
trying to say that Rico would be Japanese for Tomi s sake cause Rico sees Tomi as a good
trustworthy friend that he can trust. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What makes Tomi so responsible is that he is always looking for ways to help his familymake
money to live off on and is always keeping responsibilities and hiding and cleaning the family
katana in different location so people won t find it. A piece of evidence in the book to support
this piece of evidence is on page 8 it states I can quit school and get a job what this is saying is
that Tomi is willing to give up his education to help his family raise more money which comes to
the point that Tomi cares about others before himself which can be another form of loyalty. Then
Tomi trying to hide the Katana is loyal to his family because it s a family Katana thats suppose to
be cherished so by Tomi hiding it and keeping it safe till his Grandpa and Grandma come home is
a very loyal thing of Tomi to

The Working For A Major Cola Company
We were assigned the ultimate task of finding the phosphoric acid in several rival sodas for this
experiment but to get there it required many steps to be taken in advance. As we were a working
for a major cola company it was crucial that we were aware of how to use the technology and
then more importantly the relationships between all the findings we made through numerous
experiments. Our main source of technology was a spectrophotometer so in order to move
forward in finding anything out about the colas we had to learn how to use this Spec 20. After
looking at the machine and doing research we determined that by using the Spec 20 we would be
able to get values of both absorbance and % Transmittance for a solution. The Spec 20 is able to
give these values by shining a lightbeam through a solution and measuring the intensity before and
after it has passed through the solution.1 After doing research we were able to put the machine to
use in order to get first hand experience of how to use the machine and to get an understanding of
the relationships between results present by the spectrophotometer. Food coloring was the subject
of our first tests with the Spec 20 and our group choose the colors red and blue. Along with the
food coloring we would also be running Potassium Permanganatethrough the machine. By sending
light beams of different wavelengths through the solutions we were able to find the absorbance of
each solution shown in Table 1 as well as the relationship

Roxanne Shante s Contribution To The Rise Of Rap
Rap is a genre of music which has been made with many forms of instrumentation such as
guitars, pianos, cellos, violins, drums, as well as recorded sounds and voices which are inserted
in the songs. Over the decades, there have been many influential, successful, talented, and even
iconic rappers who have paved the way for rappers in following generations. However, Rap has
become more than just music that people listen to, it has become a culture of its own that is
frequently and closely associated with drugs and gang violence. Although Rap music has only
been around since the 1970 s, the root form of rap music is thousands of years old and has made
rap into what it is today with a foundation resembling nothing related to rap. Thousands... Show

However, some of these rappers have witnessed the horrendous consequences of substance use
and addiction, and some have even experienced the aftermath of misuse and addiction first hand.
Since the 1980 s, rappers have used countless amounts of substance references in their lyrics,
praising drugs and alcohol for their favorable, pain numbing effects. For example, Snoop Dogg
has mentioned intoxication by drugs in many of his songs, including Gin and Juice which
contains lyrics about smoking indo, a slang term for marijuana. Despite the health risks of using
marijuana such as hallucinations and memory loss, rappers continue to promote and pay homage
to marijuana and its benefits. In the 2000 s, Xanax, Ecstasy, and Codeine would become more
popular drugs in rap music. In his song 56 Nights , contemporary rapper Future, claims to have
taken 56 Xanax pills in a month. Ecstasy, also known as Molly and MDMA, which is a synthetic
drug that contains mood changing properties, has also been frequently mentioned in rap lyrics.
After the release of Kanye West s hit song Mercy , which referred to Ecstasy, the National Institute
on Drug Abuse for Teens website had experienced an immense increase in the number of searches
for the term Molly. Another substance that has been mentioned a lot

The Security Administration ( Tsa )
Following the terrorist attacks of 9/11, congress passed sweeping changes to the security of aviation
and border protection in the United States. Three agencies were significantly impacted by these
changes and the aftermath of 9/11: Transportation Security Administration (TSA), U.S. Customs
and Border Protection (CBP), and Federal Air Marshal (FAM). However, 14 years later is important
to review the changes which were implemented by sweeping popularity following 9/11 and evaluate
their effectiveness. The Transportation Security Administration(TSA) was established by the
Aviation and Security Act signed into law on November 19, 2001. The Aviation and Security Act
required the TSA complete more than 30 mandates by the end of 2002. In March 2003, TSA was
transferred to the newly established Department of Homeland Security from the Department of
Transportation (Transportation Security Administration). As of 2014, the TSA has an annual
budget of $7.9 Billion and employs 62,000 people. However, there is evidence that the TSA may
not be effective based on the cost. George Leef, a Forbes contributor, cited a Government
Accountability Office (GAO) regarding the Screening of Passengers by Observation Techniques
(SPOT). The SPOT program relies on the premise that government observers in airports can detect
individuals who are intent on terrorism based on behavioral clues. The report issued by the GAO

Essay on Congenital Neonatal Infections in Vertical HIV
Congenital Human Immunodeficiency Virus, also called Vertical HIV, is a serious epidemic
arising from passage of the virus to an infant from a maternal infection. The disease can have
severe symptoms for the infected newborn and is almost always fatal to the child. The fetus has a
25% chance of infection while in utero and a 20% 50% ( depending of the country) chance of
infection during the birthing process although a cesarean birth significantly lowers the probability
of neonatal infection. The severity of the mothers HIVinfection determines the chances of a fetal
infection meaning the more advance the disease in the mother the high the possibility of
transmission through placental cord blood. Infection can also occur from... Show more content on

The juxtapositional co receptor attachment to the host membrane encourages the GP41 protein to
initiate fusion by collapsing into a hairpin loop structure bringing the two membranes in close
proximity. The virus then injects the contents of the virion including machinery enzymes and the
RNA genome into the host cell where a dsDNA molecule is made and integrated into the host.
The reverse transcription process has a high mutation rate because the viral reverse transcriptase
enzyme is unable to detect or repair any mistakes as it forms the dsDNA. After the new dsDNA
molecule is made it is transported to the nucleus of the host and integrated into the host genome.
The HIV genome will either remain in a lysogenic state within the host or if actively stimulated
new HIV viruses will be constructed and released to infect neighboring cells. The ability of the
virus to choose its co receptor is called viral tropism and determines its virulence and disease
progression rate. If the virus binds with the co receptor CCR5 it is called macrophage tropic (M
tropic) and characterizes most HIV infections. The M tropic variant is regarded as less virulent
because it is nonsyncytial. Some mutations of the CCR5 gene lead to a partial immunity to the
virus and can slow the disease and in some cases prevent infection of the M tropic HIV varient.
Also patients with high levels of CCR5 soluble chemokines are more resistant to the virus. The
CXCR4 chemokine co receptor is

In early cities, the leadership class, or urban elite, consisted of a group of decision makers and
organizers who controlled the resources, and often the lives, of others. The urban elite controlled
the food supply, including its production, storage, and distribution. Generating an agricultural
surplus enabled some people to devote their efforts to pursuits besides agriculture. The urban elite,
for instance, did not work the fields. Rather, they devoted time to other pursuits such as religion and
philosophy. Out of such pursuits came the concepts of writing and recordkeeping. Writing made
possible the codification of laws and the preservation of traditions. Urban elites defended
themselves by constructing walls on the outskirts of the city. However, the leadership class
collected taxes and tribute from people within their control beyond the city walls.
7. How is social inequality revealed in the cultural landscape of ancient Mesopotamian cities?
A: Studies of the cultural landscape and urban morphology of Mesopotamian cities have found
signs of social inequality in the varying sizes and ornamentation of houses. Urban elite erected
palaces, protected themselves with walls, and employed countless artisans to beautify their spaces.
They also established a priest‐king class and developed a religious‐political ideology to
support the priest‐kings. Rulers in the cities were both priests and kings, and they levied taxes
and demanded tribute from the harvest brought by the agricultural laborers.

The Causes And Effects Of The Black Death By Boccaccio
The Decameron is a frame narrative written by Boccaccio. He is writing about the Plague he
witnesses in the city of Florence. The Plague is called the Black Death which kills thirty percent
of Europe s population. This story explains how serious this disease is because it shows how men
and women fled from Florence to a countryside to prevent from catching it. The disease is carried
by flees, unfortunately, there were rats on the ships heading to Europe, the flees would bite the rats
and then the flees bite the humans who eventually contracted this disease. These people are not
aware of this in this time period and have several different assumptions on what is really causing
this outbreak. The uninfected talk about what the Black Deathis, the causes of the disease, how
contagious this plague is, and the effects it has on their society and their responses to the plague.
In the middle ages people had no idea about how any disease such as the Black Death could
spread. The Europeans think it disseminated by the influence of the celestial bodies, or sent upon
them by God in his just wrath (Boccaccio). In other words, they think the plague came from the
sky or sent by God. They think maybe it is God s way of cleansing the earth or punishing them for
their unfair behaviors. Some think that a supernatural origin caused the disease. This disease is a
bacterium infection which has a variety of symptoms, such as, nose bleeding, tumors in the groin or

Children Of The Foster System
For years there have been an excessive number of children in and out of the foster system. Quite
a few children have succeeded; however, other children have not. A few children have looked to
drugs, alcohol and violence to cope with what they have gone through and/or what they are
currently going through. A number of those children ended up in a juvenile detention center or
prison for breaking the law. Foster parents are desperately needed to help these children succeed
in life and make it through this terrible time. Although most children can make their own
decisions and choose the right path, children s lives can be changed by just one mistake of their
parents . The most common reason that children end up in the foster system is because of abuse
and neglect. If a child ends up in the foster system they are 95% more likely to be arrested as a
juvenile, 28% more likely to be arrested as an adult, and 30% more likely to commit a violent crime
( Foster CareStatistics ). It is not even the child s fault that they ended up in the foster system and
the percentage of them doing wrong has raised as a result of their parents decisions. All children
in the foster system have a right to a chance of having a better life. According to mom.me,

percentage of the defined gross revenues (Mavris). This will create competitive balance across
the league because it will force all teams to abide by the same cap ceiling. Regardless of a teams
value or demographic all teams will have to spend the same amount on player salaries. The final
aspect of the White Settlement creates the concept of franchise and transition tenders. It states that

It also will drastically increase that player s salary. Franchises must be careful when applying
the franchise tag as it can be expensive and with the creation of the salary cap they must abide
by a certain total salary for all their players, and by placing the franchise tag on a certain player
that player s salary will become very expensive and its fully guaranteed. The transition
designation is very similar to the franchise designation. The White Settlement states, by
tendering an offer of a one year contract at a salary amounting to the greater of (1) the average of
the salaries of the ten highest paid players at the designated player s same position, or (2) a
twenty percent increase in the designated player s previous years salary (Mavris). The team
applying the designation would retain exclusive negotiating rights over that player, a key
difference between a franchise and transition designation. The inclusive of the White Settlement
changed the direction of the NFL and allowed players to increase their salaries, but also restricted
large player movement from year to year. It also gave the team the ability to hold on to their top
players and be compensated for losing restricted free agents. The White Settlement changed the
landscape of the NFL has it moved forward into the 1990s and was instrumental in creating the

Title: Sex Education and Birth Control should be enforced to prevent Teenage Pregnancies
Approximately one million teens get pregnant and give birth every year in the United States. Eighty
percent of those births are to unmarried teens (ProQuest Staff) . Teenage Pregnancyis when a
mentally immature female adolescent under the age of nineteen is pregnant. Pregnant Teenagers
would have to face many consequences and problems because they are physically and mentally
unprepared to have babies. The teenagers futures would be limited because they would have to
quit high school to care for their babies and it have been proven that the adolescents would
mostly be poor when they become adults. They would also be prone to health problems like high
blood pressure, premature birth, postpartum depression, STDs, etc. The teenagers would not be
the only that would be affected, their babies would also be affected because it might be born
premature and there is a high possibility that he or she would have a low birth rate. Most children
that were born by teenagers do worse in school than other children born from adults. Teenage
Pregnancy should be prevented because it does not have any positive affects to the people in the
United States. It could be prevented by enforcing sex education and birth controls because it would
make adolescents more aware about the consequences and the birth pills would stop unsafe sex and

California Education System
If there is one thing that all American s can agree on it is that the education provided for our youth
serves as the foundation for the continuation and prosperity of our nation s future. On the smaller
scale, the students that live and learn here in the state of California will become our congressmen,
doctors, policemen; the future of our great state. The adoption of the Common Core State Standards
(CCSS) was necessary for improving the educationpolicies in place for the youth in California. For

Since all students in California are receiving the same educational information, all students who
graduate from CCSS state certified high schools are all equally prepared and able to attend
college. More specifically, while it does not guarantee that all graduating students will go to
college, it ensures that all of the students who are exposed to and are competent in the
Mathematics and English Language Arts standards will be ready and prepared to take college
leveled courses. Attaining higher education is an option that California would like to provide all of
its students and the adoption of the CCSS presents that opportunity to those students who want it.
For those who do not desire to go to college straight out of high school, the CCSS also provides
students with skills applicable in the workforce. One of those includes critical thinking skills. Also
known as higher order thinking, [critical thinking skills include] the capacity to examine and

Conformity in The Rocking-Horse Winner by D.H. Lawrence Essay
In The Rocking Horse Winner by D.H. Lawrence, the family was unable to see what they really

certain social status within a community due to the need of acceptance, or perhaps, simply the
fear of being rejected. Communities normally demonstrate a positive atmosphere. They are
supposed to be places where everyone knows and is kind to one another; one where people feel

The uncle concludes the story by saying: But, poor devil, poor devil, he s best gone out of a life
where he rides his rocking horse to find a winner (Lawrence 34). In other words, he was already
a winner, but no one saw that, the mother was blinded because of her greater desire for wealth.
When people are used to something and have done it for so long, they are very reluctant to
change. The Lottery is a perfect example of this. The word lottery in this story is very ironic; it
normally represents a positive aspect, but in this case, whoever wins the lottery, dies. It goes to
show that there is definitely something wrong with the community. The people have been

they must live a certain way, the same way as everyone else, and are in opposition to anyone who

However, when the possibility of MSCs to enhance wound healing and neovascularization by trans

mechanisms, as MSCs were found in close proximity to CD31+ vessels, which may reflect a MSCs
induced, paracrine mediated proangiogenic local wound milieu which lead to enhanced
vascularization rather than through direct participation and incorporation into tissue. They labelled
the cells with GFP and the tissue wounds were labelled with antibodies to GFP and CD31 , they
found that no double labelled cells were identified in any of the wounds. So trans differentiation
into GFP positive mature endothelial cells was not observed. Also, cellular engraftment was
restricted to the dermis and wound bed. As GFP cells were not found within the epidermis or

found that MSCs significantly enhanced re epithelialization, granulation tissue formation, and
neovascularization compared with control wounds.

Discussion
It is evident from the survey that Australia is similar to the Philippines in terms of Uncertainty
Avoidance. Both countries shared similar views and the majority of results were reasonable and
not unusual. These two countries are seen as a safe place to live from the results of the survey.
Geert Hofstede had his research on the comparison of Australia with the Philippines with Australia
on 51 and Philippines on 44. This comparison is very close with a 6% difference and demonstrated
the similarity of results between the two countries on the survey. The survey didn t have any
obvious clues that could demonstrate a significant difference between Australia and the Philippines.
Therefore it is seen that the uncertainty avoidance is alike between these two countries.
Australia and the Philippines are seen as Safe Countries. When people travel to

classic novel, tragedy, written in a social tone. The authorial attitude is idyllic, however, as the
story develops it changes into skeptic. It is evident that Steinbeck knew the setting and places he
is writing about. In my opinion Steinbeck drew the subject matter from his own experience of
working on ranches, he was interested in special kinds of relationships among men working on
ranches with him. There are several themes in the novel. The main theme is the careless nature of
people caused by weakness. Nearly all the characters, including George, Lennie, Candy, Crooks
and Curley s wife feel lonely, isolated and weak and they try to destroy those... Show more content

Women have no place in the author s idealized vision of a world structured around the brotherly
bonds of men, because they only cause troubles. Material В– the novel takes place in California in
the 1930s. Steinbeck describes life of wage labourers without permanent home, who work on
ranches. There are also mentioned problems of the American apartheid society. The novel is told
from the point of view of a third person objective narrator. Diction and language style are
conformed to the setting of the novel. Steinbeck uses Standard English for the authorial speech, for
the direct speech he uses colloquial English, very often with slang and argot spoken among people
working on ranches. Using argot and vulgarisms helps to characterize protagonists of the novel.
Steinbeck also uses similes, metonymies and metaphors to describe countryside, places and things.
The speech of characters predominates over the authorial speech and is realized by direct speech
and dialogues. Steinbeck precisely describes places and characters. Inner characterization results
from behaviour of characters. All his characters are straight defined. Lennie a large, childlike
migrant worker. Due to his mental disability, Lennie completely depends upon George, his friend
and traveling companion. Although he is among the principal characters in the novel, he

The Odysseus-Personal Narrative
Complete Cleansing An old crow perched on the uppermost battlements of the enormous black
stone castle. Its wise eyes gazed out at the surrounding scenery, giving the impression that it had
ruled the castle for eternity. In the courtyards and rooms below the wizened crow, the silence
ruled so heavily that it could almost be heard. Nothing had set foot within the gates in many,
many years. A heavy curse lay on the blackened stones of the might fortress, and no living thing
dared venture within the crow s watchful gaze. Jason stepped out of the woods and studied the
fearsome fortress, which loomed on a hill, many yards above his head. Jason wore a long dark
coat, which barely managed to conceal the hilt of a long sword hanging at his belt. His bright blue
eyes shone out from beneath his curly dark hair, and his right hand clutched nervously at the cluster

As he reached the center of the courtyard his advance was halted by the sudden appearance of the
dreaded human shapes, one in each archway leading out of the large open space. He turned
slowly, counting twelve sword bearing shadows preventing his escape. Briefly, he thought about
making a dash for the tower and trying to barricade himself in, but the idea flickered and died as
soon as it appeared. Completely silent, the black shadows glided quickly towards him. They
blended in perfectly with the jet black stone walls, making them difficult to see. Jason drew his
sword, nervous about his chances. Realizing that he couldn t let all twelve of them converge on
him at once, he started running towards the tower. As he d anticipated, the shapes swerved to cut
him off. The first one bore down on him swifter than the wind. Jason blocked the first blow, and
then sliced strait through the shadowy head. His blade did no harm however, and Jason was
beginning to see the dire situation he had gotten himself

Drug Trade In Colombia
In 1970 s, the Colombian poor farmers began planting Marijuana in purpose of an alternative to
legal crops to survive producing. In the 1970 s the Colombian organized crime had been
accelerated when criminal groups tried to cash in on the obsession for cocaine in the United States
by importing coca leaf from Bolivia and Peru into cocaine hydrochloride (HCL) then trafficking it
to the United States. (InSight Crime, n.d.). During the time of Pablo Escobar in 1980 s the first
major cocaine cartels emerged in Medellin cartel and Cali cartel in southwest. (PBS.org, n.d.).
Colombia became one of the sophisticated drug trafficking organization and most violent country in
globe. It all started with the small cocaine smuggling business and it grew ... Show more content on

To address the problem, the administration of President Clinton released a National Interest Waiver
that will prevent Colombia from attaining a failing grade. Despite having no chance of averting the
illegal drug trade, Colombia was continued to be given U.S aid in order to prevent increase of
trade (Sweeney, 1995). On the same year, the United States started to implement judgment
(PBS.org, n.d.) on counter narcotics of 29 of the biggest drug producing and drug trade countries.
Through that, it was identified that America is one of the biggest consumer of drugs and
Colombia has ranked third in the consumption per capita in the world. Sweeney mentioned that
this might lead to economic reforms and manipulate the region s weak political and judicial
institutions because every state in America has a severe drug crisis and the drug cartels are
influenced by Latin American. Congress should ask for an explanation on the policy implemented
because the United States continue to provide aid to stop illegal drug trade and support Colombia s
economic progress despite no actions initiated by their own government to address the problem

Pros And Cons Of Autonomous Cars
In the past, people were attracted by science fiction because of that high technology equipment,
and now it is possible to make those high tech products come true. Autonomous Car (n.d.), points
out the self driving car is a vehicle that can guide itself without human conduction. This kind of
vehicle has become a concrete reality and may pave the way for future systems where computers
take over the art of driving. A self driving car is also known as a driverless car, robot car, self
driving car or autonomous vehicle. In turn, the car people use now a day, although some of them are

percent, and for 20 to 24 year olds, from 92 to 77 percent. The numbers suggest that although self
driving cars represent the transportation of tomorrow, people are ready for the technology today.
Although people send with the very high expectation in the self driving car, its advocates argue
that the self driving cars are bad for the environment. Those who object to self driving car claim
that most of the energy is from electricity. To be sure, the electric car is more environmental
friendly than the traditional car. However, this belief fails to consider that the electricity for self
driving car is also comes from fossil fuel; it is the same of the traditional car. As a result, using
self driving car cannot save more energy and it is not good for the environment. The public will
not accept self driving car industry in the next few years because it is not safe and it will bring

  • 5. Defense Of Mary Warren In The Crucible By Arthur Miller Emma Harrison 10/24/17 Ms. Ruiz Period 6Defense of Mary Warren When it comes to Arthur Miller s allegorical work, The Crucible, very few characters can be deemed completely innocent. While just about every person in this story has a flaw of envy, pride, or selfishness, characters can often be sorted into the accuser or accused categories. One exception to this is Mary Warren. Throughout the story, her loyalties switch back and forth between these two sides. Due to this, she may seem like a selfish and unsympathetic character; that is not the case, however. Mary Warren is an abused and manipulated child, whose decisions in the story are certainly justified, given her situation. The first we see of Mary is when Betty falls ill after the the girls are caught congregating in the woods. Immediately, we see she is terrified, fully aware that them being accused of witchcraft would be a hangin error (1268). Abigail responds to her fear with an order to lie; she threatens them with violence should they not obey her. Abigail is one of Mary Warren s main abusers in the story. John Proctor, Mary s employer, enters the scene next. When he sees her away from his house, he scolds her in a humiliating fashion, even threatening to whip her. From the stage directions, we see she tries to retain a shred of dignity (1269), when this happens, leading to the belief that this reproach from Proctor is common in her life. We don t hear from Mary again until the beginning of Act II. She ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Tax Exemptions in America Decades ago, state and federal legislatures began offering tax exemptions, including exemptions from property tax, for nonprofit institutions that provide charitable services to communities. Nonprofit hospitals that qualify for federal tax exemption under Internal Revenue Code В§501(c)(3) are not guaranteed state charitable taxexemptions. A hospital must provide some amount of charity in order to be granted a state tax exemption, however historical statues have failed to quantify what amount of charity is sufficient to meet the charitable purpose exemption . In recent times, nonprofit hospitals repeatedly have to defend the amount of charity and benefit they provide to the community to maintain their state property tax exempt status. There has been a recent, notable case where a hospital lost its property tax exemption. In the case of Provena Covenant Medical Center V. Illinois Department of Revenue, the Illinois Supreme Court held that PCMC does not provide enough charity care to qualify for tax exemptions provided for nonprofit organizations that provide charity care . Nonprofit hospitals are among the largest landowners in many communities, in the US, billions of dollars in property is owned by nonprofit hospitals . • 7. Analysis Of The American Flamingo When I looked at John James Audubon painting of the American Flamingo, his painting describes the nature of the life of the flamingos and how their body moves around for them to go on with their nature. The aspects that Audubon caught while painting the American Flamingo, that in the background of the big rose pink flamingo that takes up most the paint, there you see a flamingo standing differently than the other flamingos around that one. Also the different angles of how the flamingos move their neck around. When I look at the rose pink flamingo s legs I see how fragile they look, but Audubon might have wanted to paint the flamingo s legs to show how delicate they are. Prior to the industrial revolution, the government upheld a hands off approach towards business. Under the laissez faire principle, free, unregulated markets led to competition, yet this system suffered under the wrath of growing corporations. The impact of big business on the economy and politics was immense during 1870 to 1899. Corporations were growing significantly in number and size, which had a domineering affect on American economy and defined American life. The growing corporations in America dominated most of the economy, creating a large gap between the rich and the poor. This illustrates that the Senate is controlled by big business, and how easily wealthy people had power over the government. Moreover, the railroad presidents were seen as kings, they could delay lawsuits, control the government and the people, corrupt communities, and control the press (DOC B). Important railroad companies dictated government policies because the legal system favored railroad interests. Further, trying to better the political system, the Populist Party made themselves known. Their platform demanded that the government be restored to the hands of the plain people. They wanted to end oppression, injustice, and poverty (DOC F). Evidently, they were dedicated to political and social reform, and urged that the government be strengthened and take responsibility of the people. The harsh working conditions resulting from industrialization drove laborers to organize into unions. Economist David A. Wells compares working in a factory to working in the military because workers are taught to perform one single task. Moreover, manufacturing has largely taken away workers pride in their work (DOC C). Mass production techniques led to specialization of labor, which subsequently decreased workers pride in their craft, as well as left workers largely unskilled. The Canadian Observatory on Homelessness reported that 35,000 people were homeless in Canada around the same time and that at least 235,000 Canadians experience homelessnessat some point in a year (Gaetz et al., 2016). Although both the U.S. and Canada have made some effort toward reducing and ending homelessness, it clearly still remains a serious problem in both countries. The Act also created the United States Interagency Council on Homelessness (USICH), which was largely inactive until 2002 (Padgett et al., 2016). At this point, federal homelessness policy managed homelessness by providing shelters and other short term solutions, as opposed to preventing homelessness and actually getting people off the street. Despite millions of dollars from Congress funding services for the homeless, homelessness did not decrease in he U.S. during the 1980s or 1990s. Since then, an ideology known as Housing First has come into popularity, which will be elaborated on in the literature review section. Although there was great opposition for the scandalous Kansas Nebraska Act of 1854, the bill passed and resulted in the creation of the Republican party. The creation of a new political party portrayed a division among specific regional states within America. Ultimately, disagreement with the Union brought forth the topic of secession. In 1861, Texas Governor Sam Houston faced a difficult decision: to favor or oppose the secession of Texas. Union Sam Houston: The idea of secession could be an act of defiance, rather than defense. For instance, the Union s violation of returning our fugitive slaves under the Fugitive Slave Law is unacceptable. Additionally, it would be more ideal to have the ability of setting our own tariffs and slave policy. The idea of compromise is naive and may continue leading to the suppression of Southern desires. Divination was also used to explain matters that seemed unexplainable, such as crop failure or drought. This is clearly stated in the book and one evidence in the book to prove this is in Chapter 10 page 49 it says For Tomi, I going be Japanese. which is pretty much trying to say that Rico would be Japanese for Tomi s sake cause Rico sees Tomi as a good trustworthy friend that he can trust. ... The Working For A Major Cola Company We were assigned the ultimate task of finding the phosphoric acid in several rival sodas for this experiment but to get there it required many steps to be taken in advance. As we were a working for a major cola company it was crucial that we were aware of how to use the technology and then more importantly the relationships between all the findings we made through numerous experiments. Our main source of technology was a spectrophotometer so in order to move forward in finding anything out about the colas we had to learn how to use this Spec 20. After looking at the machine and doing research we determined that by using the Spec 20 we would be able to get values of both absorbance and % Transmittance for a solution. The Spec 20 is able to give these values by shining a lightbeam through a solution and measuring the intensity before and after it has passed through the solution.1 After doing research we were able to put the machine to use in order to get first hand experience of how to use the machine and to get an understanding of the relationships between results present by the spectrophotometer. Food coloring was the subject of our first tests with the Spec 20 and our group choose the colors red and blue. Along with the food coloring we would also be running Potassium Permanganatethrough the machine. By sending light beams of different wavelengths through the solutions we were able to find the absorbance of each solution shown in Table 1 as well as the relationship ... Over the decades, there have been many influential, successful, talented, and even iconic rappers who have paved the way for rappers in following generations. However, Rap has become more than just music that people listen to, it has become a culture of its own that is frequently and closely associated with drugs and gang violence. However, some of these rappers have witnessed the horrendous consequences of substance use and addiction, and some have even experienced the aftermath of misuse and addiction first hand. Since the 1980 s, rappers have used countless amounts of substance references in their lyrics, praising drugs and alcohol for their favorable, pain numbing effects. For example, Snoop Dogg has mentioned intoxication by drugs in many of his songs, including Gin and Juice which contains lyrics about smoking indo, a slang term for marijuana. Despite the health risks of using marijuana such as hallucinations and memory loss, rappers continue to promote and pay homage to marijuana and its benefits. In the 2000 s, Xanax, Ecstasy, and Codeine would become more popular drugs in rap music. In his song 56 Nights , contemporary rapper Future, claims to have taken 56 Xanax pills in a month. Three agencies were significantly impacted by these changes and the aftermath of 9/11: Transportation Security Administration (TSA), U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and Federal Air Marshal (FAM). However, 14 years later is important to review the changes which were implemented by sweeping popularity following 9/11 and evaluate their effectiveness. The Transportation Security Administration(TSA) was established by the Aviation and Security Act signed into law on November 19, 2001. The Aviation and Security Act required the TSA complete more than 30 mandates by the end of 2002. In March 2003, TSA was transferred to the newly established Department of Homeland Security from the Department of Transportation (Transportation Security Administration). As of 2014, the TSA has an annual budget of $7.9 Billion and employs 62,000 people. However, there is evidence that the TSA may not be effective based on the cost. Essay on Congenital Neonatal Infections in Vertical HIV Congenital Human Immunodeficiency Virus, also called Vertical HIV, is a serious epidemic arising from passage of the virus to an infant from a maternal infection. The disease can have severe symptoms for the infected newborn and is almost always fatal to the child. The fetus has a 25% chance of infection while in utero and a 20% 50% ( depending of the country) chance of infection during the birthing process although a cesarean birth significantly lowers the probability of neonatal infection. The severity of the mothers HIVinfection determines the chances of a fetal infection meaning the more advance the disease in the mother the high the possibility of transmission through placental cord blood. Infection can also occur from... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The juxtapositional co receptor attachment to the host membrane encourages the GP41 protein to initiate fusion by collapsing into a hairpin loop structure bringing the two membranes in close proximity. The virus then injects the contents of the virion including machinery enzymes and the RNA genome into the host cell where a dsDNA molecule is made and integrated into the host. The reverse transcription process has a high mutation rate because the viral reverse transcriptase enzyme is unable to detect or repair any mistakes as it forms the dsDNA. After the new dsDNA molecule is made it is transported to the nucleus of the host and integrated into the host genome. The HIV genome will either remain in a lysogenic state within the host or if actively stimulated new HIV viruses will be constructed and released to infect neighboring cells. The ability of the virus to choose its co receptor is called viral tropism and determines its virulence and disease progression rate. If the virus binds with the co receptor CCR5 it is called macrophage tropic (M tropic) and characterizes most HIV infections. The M tropic variant is regarded as less virulent because it is nonsyncytial. Some mutations of the CCR5 gene lead to a partial immunity to the virus and can slow the disease and in some cases prevent infection of the M tropic HIV varient. Also patients with high levels of CCR5 soluble chemokines are more resistant to the virus. The CXCR4 chemokine co receptor is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Rather, they devoted time to other pursuits such as religion and philosophy. Out of such pursuits came the concepts of writing and recordkeeping. Writing made possible the codification of laws and the preservation of traditions. Urban elites defended themselves by constructing walls on the outskirts of the city. The Plague is called the Black Death which kills thirty percent of Europe s population. The disease is carried by flees, unfortunately, there were rats on the ships heading to Europe, the flees would bite the rats and then the flees bite the humans who eventually contracted this disease. A few children have looked to drugs, alcohol and violence to cope with what they have gone through and/or what they are currently going through. A number of those children ended up in a juvenile detention center or prison for breaking the law. Foster parents are desperately needed to help these children succeed in life and make it through this terrible time. Although most children can make their own decisions and choose the right path, children s lives can be changed by just one mistake of their parents . The most common reason that children end up in the foster system is because of abuse and neglect. If a child ends up in the foster system they are 95% more likely to be arrested as a juvenile, 28% more likely to be arrested as an adult, and 30% more likely to commit a violent crime ( Foster CareStatistics ). The transition designation is very similar to the franchise designation.
