Mascot Analysis
Rationale, explanation of interest, or area of focus
This analysis will focus on the importance of mascots for the selected institutions and how they
relate to the normal livelihoods of the students in both universities. The term mascot is used to refer
to an animal, a person or object that is believed to bring some sense of good luck in various
perspectives. It is a term and phenomenon that has been consistently used through history to relate
to the success of various institutional activities, especially in the sports arena. Institutions with
mascots tend to have a deep history in terms of its selection and related significance. The two
selected universities in this assessment have peculiar mascot symbols that have been used for many
years to derive distinct meanings that represent respective cultures. ... Show more content on

Since then, the institution has passed a joint ideology about the nocturnal bird to its students with
emphasis put on how it represents a sense of knowledge and wisdom thus a perfect symbol to use in
any center of learning (Temple University, 2015). Also, the owl mascot has been attributed to the
goddess Athena, who is mythically known for her wisdom, knowledge, arts, skills and precision in
warfare. From nature s perspective, the owl is deemed a resourceful, perceptive, courageous and
fierce fighter. These attributes have been prescribed to the university students for years with an
objective of building a learning culture in the institution. The main problem noted with the
perception created for this mascot is that the university has not reiterated on how the symbol can be
incorporated to ensure success in the extra curriculum activities. The university is not famous or
well established in sporting events, and this can be attributed to the message passed by the
institution to the students (Owlsports,

Taraji P Henson Essay
When asked to write about my favorite actor or actress, there are many people I could have
chosen but I choose Taraji P Henson because she is the most real to me. I can t help but smile
when I think of Taraji P Henson a beautiful, diverse actress who is humble and sincere in her
craft. When I was nine years old, I first saw Taraji in her second filmdebut, Hustle Flow in which
she portrayed a character named Shug. Shug was a pregnant prostitute who became the love
interest of the male lead. Although Taraji is modest about her singing talent, she gives a riveting
performance in this movie particularly on the song It s Hard Out Here for a Pimp. I was unsure
that it was her really singing until I found out she provided the actual vocals for the Three 6 Mafia
track and the song won an Academy Awardfor Best Original Song in 2006. Also, Taraji... Show

In January 2016, she won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress Television Series Drama for
Empire becoming only the third African American actress to take home the award after Gail
Fisher (1972) and Regina Taylor (1992). In all these roles Taraji brings an authentic interpretation
of character that is relatable to the audience. She wins everyone over with her sincerity and
enthusiasm. While her portrayal look effortless, Taraji does a lot of preparation and considers
carefully the roles she decides to take.
From TV to film to animation, Taraji P Henson has had a diversity of experience that is rarely
highlighted or spoken of yet is a testament to her commitment to acting.. Despite that fact she
remains humble and hungry in a craft that is fleeting. She remains relevant and poise to continue
into the future despite the ageism that plague female actresses. Taraji believes that love is the key
to being successful. Do what you love and the rest is lagniappe. I pray to have her attitude and

Thank You For Arguing Summary
In section 4 of Thank You For Arguing by Jay Heinrichs, Heinrichs starts out by explaining Cicero s
five canons of persuasion that include: invention, arrangement, style, memory, and delivery.
Invention is the start of the persuasion and the thought of what is wanted to be accomplished. Then,
the issue itself needs to be figured out and resolved. Finally, the person needs to think about the
audience and what their values are. That will get an individual a start on the art of persuasion.
Arrangement is how a person is going to arrange an argument so the persuasion is the most
impactful. Arrangement comes down to this rule of thumb Ethos first. Then logos. Then pathos.
(283). Arrangement follows an outline that can be used starting with introduction,... Show more

Also, refutation is developed to win the argument and completely smash your opponents facts
and argument. At the end, Heinrichs explains the conclusion where the individual states their
best points from the argument. Style is how a person expresses their thoughts and words. Proper
language is one of the styles which are words that suit the occasion and my audience (287).
Heinrichs also explains the style of clarity, which is speaking to make the words obvious and
straight facts. Also, Memory is used to create an image in the audience s minds to make them
feel and imagine what the individual is talking about to persuade the audience more impactfully.
Finally, the fifth canon of persuasion is delivery and how the person uses body language, along
with your voice, rhythms, and breathing (290). Voice is key in delivery especially in the volume
of the voice and how the audience emphasises the tone of the speaker. Towards the end of the
novel, Heinrichs reiterates on a few keywords including: goals, ethos, pathos, logos, and kairos.
Heinrichs also states examples of situations when these tools are needed. An example is when a
person wants their book club to read a

Internal Struggles Of The Bread Giver
Internal Struggles of the Bread Giver
The Bread Giver is about an internal struggle that went on within a recently immigrated Jewish
family. Not only were they coping with the changes of coming to America, but gender roles
within the larger community were also shifting. The turn of the century was ripe to explore areas
of tradition that many racial groups considered revered, and traditionally held beliefs would be
called into question when likened to issues of practicality and basic survival needs. The
evolutionary process from old to new had begun and there was no way to stop its forward
movement. Sara was soon to become a pioneer in her own right.
Reb Smolinsky, the forbearer of the family, spent his life on a quest for enriched learning and
understanding of the Holy Torah. His Talmudic study and religious discussions were an honored
occupation in the eyes of the Jewish community, but provided little in support for his family;
therefore, the family was forced to accept community donations of charity for their basic needs.
While the pursuit of religious focus was considered a respectable profession among the males,
females of the household were only educated in the essentials and expected to work and sacrifice
for the males. While Mr. Smolinsky saw the badge of poverty as an honor and responsibility, the
females in the family were embarrassed and humiliated amongst their neighbors and always
worried about what the next day would bring. This is hard for some of

The Principles Of The Kingdom Of God
The Principles of the Kingdom of God are found abundantly within the text writings of the Gospels
and other books within the Bible. It is easy to see that the Kingdom of God came upon us when
Jesus walked the earth teaching, healing and preaching; doing the works of our Father, God
Almighty. This essay will attempt to bring to light methods which Jesusused to teach those around
him and touch on some of the aspects of the Kingdom of God. Robert Coleman (1993) listed the
methods used by Jesus as selection, association, impartation, delegation and reproduction. In this
progressive teaching method Jesus chose his disciples, associated with them and gave them a living
example. He then set them out to complete tasks based upon his teachings. This process was
eventually restarted when the disciples themselves chose students of their own.
The First Principle of the Kingdom of God The Kingdom is for the Jew first then the Gentile,
however; the Kingdom will be taken away and given to a people who will produce its fruit
(Matthew 21:43). Perhaps the Kingdom will be taken away from the Jew and given to the Gentile
to produce its fruits, to preach the Gospel to the nations, to heal the sick and continue the works of
the Father. It was in the plan from the beginning that God used the Jewish nation as a blessing to
the whole world in that All nations will be blessed through you was an Abrahamic promise given
when God called a people to be set apart for him and to

This is the most important use of performance appraisal. It is to the common interests of both the

The Ironic Heira Hierarchy In Measure For Measure
There is a certain structure of control between the characters in Shakespeare s Measure for Measure
that continually shifts, and never is this more pronounced than in the relationship/dialogues
between Angelo and Isabella. This structure creates a back and forth balance of power and not
only affects the dynamics between both characters, but more important, influences the development
of the story. Control is also, at least attempted, to be manifested externally by Angelo in his desires
to control with an iron fist unlike his predecessor, and Isabella in choosing to join a nunnery and
lead a chaste life away from the hedonism exhibited by the characters we meet in Vienna. Control is
also questionable when it seems internally lost by these characters... Show more content on

Notwithstanding the negative consequences that might ensue for challenging Angelo, O it is
excellent to have a giant s strength, but it is tyrannous to use it like a giant. (II, ii,113 4), and the
inherent danger in it and lambasting its perversion. She tells Angelo a truth about his position of
power, which runs parallel to his own aforementioned realization of it after having met Isabella,
and how he immediately thinks to manipulate and abuse it to his advantage. According to David K.
Weiser s article, The Ironic Heirarchy in Measure for Measure: Angelo is concerned only with the
abstract crime committed and the need for absolute decorum: There shall be order for t (II.ii.24).
Self righteousness and irony are very different things, of course. But as ironic as his actions may
initially seem, he does however exhibit truth when confronted by the power of the Duke when
sentenced at the end of the play. Isabella would rather let her brother die than give up her
virginity, Before his sister should her body stoop To such abhorred pollution. Then, Isabel live
chaste, and brother die: More than our brother is our chastity. (II, iv, 184 86) But surprises us all at
the end by giving up her chaste lifestyle and marries the

The Invention Of Hugo Cabaret By Brian Selznick
The Invention Of Hugo Cabaret Image Evaluation The invention of Hugo Cabaret, an award
winning book by Brian Selznick. In a successful attempt to create a movie/book feeling, he
replaced 158 pages of words with pictures. This picture, depicted on pages 118 119, caught my
eye because it effectively contributes to the development of the narrative. It relates to Hugo s
father, who is a minor character, but the picture perfectly correlates with the description
provided in the pages. This image is a flashback from Hugo s mind. It shows that Hugo s father,
can t stop thinking about the automaton even at work. In the picture, Selznick has cleverly
managed to convey the mood of Hugo s father. Selznick produces this by using, body language
and facial expression, which is my first criteria. He draws the character to show that Hugo s
father is absorbed in what he is doing, which shows his passion towards his job and the
automaton. His body language is portrayed in the way he handles the mechanical part in his
hands. As you can see he is handling the part delicately indicating that it is fragile. This also shows
that Hugo s father is a very skilled but kind and caring person.... Show more content on

to the book and it is in the right place because it perfectly, correlates with the text. It also adds extra

The Working For A Major Cola Company
We were assigned the ultimate task of finding the phosphoric acid in several rival sodas for this
experiment but to get there it required many steps to be taken in advance. As we were a working
for a major cola company it was crucial that we were aware of how to use the technology and
then more importantly the relationships between all the findings we made through numerous
experiments. Our main source of technology was a spectrophotometer so in order to move
forward in finding anything out about the colas we had to learn how to use this Spec 20. After
looking at the machine and doing research we determined that by using the Spec 20 we would be
able to get values of both absorbance and % Transmittance for a solution. The Spec 20 is able to
give these values by shining a lightbeam through a solution and measuring the intensity before and
after it has passed through the solution.1 After doing research we were able to put the machine to
use in order to get first hand experience of how to use the machine and to get an understanding of
the relationships between results present by the spectrophotometer. Food coloring was the subject
of our first tests with the Spec 20 and our group choose the colors red and blue. Along with the
food coloring we would also be running Potassium Permanganatethrough the machine. By sending
light beams of different wavelengths through the solutions we were able to find the absorbance of
each solution shown in Table 1 as well as the relationship

Chaucer s Retraction In The Canterbury Tales Essay
Different scholars have had different understandings of Chaucer s Retraction and The Canterbury
Tales. The divergent views have drawn different interpretations of the intended meaning and the
context of its existence. Many scholars believe that The Parson s Tale was Chaucer s final work.
Some people feel Chaucer s Retraction was the final one in the collection, while others doubt that
Chaucer was the real author of the repudiation. This dilemma is implored by the fact the
retraction completely disowns the earlier versions of Chaucer s works. Those who agree that
Chaucer s Retraction is the actual work of Geoffrey Chaucer give several reasons why he
disowned his work. They explain what he sought to achieve and how the retraction relates to The
Parson s Tale and the whole framework of The Canterbury Tales
.
The fact that Chaucer s main reason of retracting his tales in The Canterbury Tales is to avoid
accusations arising from writing some of the tales is no secret. The fictions rather use some words
and an approach that at the time would have sounded offensive to the pilgrimage or as a criticism
of the church. He uses the retraction to appeal to not only truth as an ideal virtue but also to the
words of the pilgrims that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While he may have felt the need to retract his works because of his religious piety, many doubt
the sincerity in his deed. The most obvious and seeming answer to the question of why he did it
is that other than fear of condemnation, he wanted to attract diverse readers of his work. The
Parson s Tale and Chaucer s Retraction help to look back on the other tales, which are rather
vulgar in language and obscene in technique. The fact that he chose to end his final touch on The
Canterbury Tales on a religious note is both suspicious and pious. However, what this does is to
reiterate and reaffirm every single idea and practice endorsed in the

How Does Crime And Punishment Relate To Salvation
Redemption: Salvation through Suffering
Jesus once stated, The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a
ransom for many (Matthew 20:28). In other words, one must endure suffering in order to
achieve redemption. Like all of us, The Son of Man, Jesus, was put on planet Earth with a
purpose of life. His destiny was not to follow with others, but rather to serve as a trailblazer, and
lead a path to salvation. Along this path, he spread his wisdom and values to his disciples in hopes
to exhibit goodness and purity. Sacrificing his own life proved his immense selflessness, which
inspired decades of generations.

Story Of An Hour Foreshadowing
Foreshadow and irony in The Story of an Hour
The short story The Story of an Hour , written by Kate Chopin, is a brilliant piece of writing that

Difference Between Walt Disney And Free Enterprise
Walt Disney and Free Enterprise
A free enterprise system is needed for businesses to become successful. In my case, it was needed
for Walt Disney to be successful. Walt Disney is a entertainment entrepreneur who created animated
films. He is also the founder of the Disney Company, Disneyland and Walt DisneyWorld. Could
any of us imagine a world without him? His animations could ve gone unnoticed but with the
freedom to have the opportunity to make his economic decisions and create his own influential
businesses, he became successful.
Walt Disney, with free enterprise, became successful by starting a studio in 1922 making short
advertisements for the local theater, from there he grew. He needed free enterprise because it

This is the shocking reality of the contemporary dowry marriage in India and the frightening
experience faced by many young women. Each year, thousands of these young women are
murdered, through what has been dubbed bride burnings ,[4] by husbands and in laws seeking
increased dowry demands.
While the practice of dowry is commonly perceived by the international community as one of
Indian custom and culture, in its current form it is more accurately described as a social
phenomenon believed to bestow a greater social status upon the recipient. Originally designed to
be a gift given out of affection at the time of a daughter s marriage, today the dowry system has
turned into a perverted version of an ancient and respected custom. It has now become an
obligatory transaction that places a heavy impact on a family s financial and social status and a
young wife s welfare. In the last four decades, dowry negotiations between the families of brides
and grooms have escalated into continuing demands even after the agreed upon amount is given.
Even more disquieting are the increasing numbers and the ways in which young wives are killed
when their husbands and in laws are dissatisfied with the amount of dowry given or when
additional demands are not met. Frequently, as the violence and abuse escalates, if the young wife
is not murdered she is driven to commit

CWC must ensure that their business plan and budget will ensure their long term survival.
The Current Situation
The Executive Director is formulating an Operating Budget recommendation for the next year. He

coming year. He is particularly concerned about increased energy costs and a likely recession that
may hold down contributions and foundation support. The CWC wants to budget for a 5% (of total

Your role is to prepare the budget for the following (next) year based on the assumptions adopted
by the Executive Director and the budget for the current year. You will also be asked to analyze the
results of those budget assumptions. Assumptions for NEXT budget year:
Revenue: Special events will increase by 20% due to a new event. Contributions will increase by

The colonizers such as colonel Joll treated people very badly and they treated them as dogs.
They only cared for their well being and not those of other people. Sympathy for the girl came
about when the magistrate saw how badly she was injured and she wanted to ease her pain by
taking care of her and that was a noble thing done by the noble man of law, his colleagues did not
see it as being noble but as a sell out and an informant of the Barbarian people. The magistrate

Shortly after the discovery of X rays, another form of strong rays were discovered. In 1896,
French scientist Henri Becquerel discovered natural radioactivity. Many scientists of the period
were working with cathode rays, and other scientists were gathering evidence on the theory that the

themselves. It was Henri Becquerel who discovered this experience while investigating the
properties of fluorescent minerals. Becquerel was researching the principles of fluorescence,
wherein certain minerals glow (fluoresce) when exposed to sunlight. He utilized photographic
plates to record this fluorescence.

The Homosexuality As An Interdisciplinary Theorization Of...
The proposition of my paper is to propose the homosexuality as an interdisciplinary theorization of
Caravaggio s artwork done in Rome. The purpose of this paper is to not dig deeper into the
homosexuality of Caravaggio but to give a different representation and perspective of
homosexuality. This paper does not discuss the actual sexuality of Caravaggio, but more so how we
perceive norms that can differentiate with connotations to sexuality in Rome during his lifetime.
Homosexualityis intertwined with norm systems that concerns sexuality. Caravaggio has some
significant traits in his early art work done in Rome such as sensualism and the extensive use of
charm. The sensual charisma has been extensively explained in religious terms and given a
simpler cultural context by Maurizio Calvesi. There have been many debates where Caravaggio
was a homosexual or not, based on the paintings he had done that had young men and young boys
with seductive trances on their faces. The few examples of this would be The Cardsharps, Boy
bitten by a lizard, The Lute Player, Bacco, the Musicans, Boy with a Basket of Fruit, St John the
Baptist. Also, to contribute to the assumption that Caravaggio was a homosexual was the private
paintings he has done which include a naked Pluto, Jupiter, and Neptune, in order to symbolize a
perfect human in an inhumane world. The paintings on the ceilings help bring to light the social
culture that shows the norms directly connected to sexuality in Rome at

The Aztec Of Aztecs And Spanish Conquistadors
The events that occurred between the Aztecs and Spanish Conquistadors have many sides and
opportunities for debate. One of the most debated topics being; Who was more savage and who was
more Civil? Both the Aztecs and Spanish had powerful and thriving empires. These empires
displayed their dominance through their advanced technology and flourishing military. Though it
may seem that the Spanish were more advanced than the Aztecs, the Aztecs and Spanish were
actually quite close to being equal in technological advancements.
The Aztec empire has been said to be the greatest engineers in the Americas and rival the Roman
Empire in technology. The Aztec Empire had luxurious pyramids, temples and a gleaming capital
city called Tenochtitlan, that in its golden years, was said to house over 200,000 250,000 Aztecs.
Tenochtitlan was larger than Rome, London and Madrid put together. On top of it s large
population, the people and streets were very pristine. The Tenochtitlan citizens took daily baths to
ensure they were fully clean. Infact, Tenochtitlan had public baths and lavatories for the citizens.
Tenochtitlan was built on a lake island called Aztlan and over the lake, the Aztecs built fertile,
floating farms called Chinampas .The people who inhabited the Aztlan Island were originally called
the Mexica people. The name Aztec is derived from the name of the Island. However primitive this
empire may seem, the Emperors were quite affluent. They had lavish possessions

Essay on How Boyle s Law Relates to Respiratory Care
This paper is going to discuss Boyle s Law and how it relates to respiratory care. It will define
what the law is, how it works, and why it is important to us. We use this law every day without
even thinking about it. So many of our everyday activities and actions are related to certain gas
laws that have been built into our lives at home and at work. Without many of the gas laws we
would not have the advancements that we have today. Boyle s Law has had a very important
role in our lives. It is the reason why we have the medical technology that we have today and why it
keeps improving. Because of Boyle s law, the medical profession saves lives and improves lives
every day.

Our bodies do it on their own by moving air into the lungs when a muscle called the diaphragm,
along with other nearby muscles, contract and causes the chest cavity to expand. Then air is
exhaled when these muscles relax, and the lung tissue returns or recoils to its original size (Jardins
2013) . When the patient needs help with breathing due to a disease, surgery or the use of
medications which stop the muscle from working on their own, a ventilator is a life saving
replacement. The volume of oxygen in the cylinder is depressed down and the pressure increases
moving the oxygen through the tubes into the patient.
The plethysmography technique applies to Boyle s law and uses measurements of volume and
pressure changes to determine lung volume, assuming the temperature is constant. The
plethysmography technique measures the volume of all compressible gas in the thorax, including
gas trapped behind airway obstructions or in the pleural space (Kacmarek 2013). This is just
another example of how important Boyle s law has become to the medical profession.
As this report states, Boyle s law is very important in our everyday lives and in the medical
profession. The advancements in respiratory care in modern day medicine have been greatly
enhanced with the application of Boyle s law which was developed over 400 years ago by Robert
Boyle a native of Ireland. As a respiratory therapist we work with Boyle s law every day to help

Essay on Modern Piracy With A Breif History
Piracy is usually determined as a seizure of property (ship, airplane or software) that holds no

It was not the lack of plunder because there were still many merchant ships sailing between
nations with valuable cargo. Also, the conditions in merchant and navy ships were as severe as
before so there was still a great reason to turn to piracy. It was called the golden age because at
this time there were more pirates (not to mention the number of the well know pirates) than ever
before and their amount of plunder was far greater than any other period in history. From this time
period the original term piracy got its name and fame.
This statement been said, Piracy could never be completely gotten rid of. This is a very true

Design And Design Of Design History
Design plays a significant role in people lives. Design contains a range of areas such as:
architecture, landscape, fashion and graphic etc. Judging from the large number of exhibition,
museum and modern building appears in recent year that people seems to put more emphasis on
their visual artistic effect and design. Margolin (1992, P105) said, The importance of design
history has also been increasingly recognized by design professionals . This means design
history is necessary for contemporary designers to study early and use the knowledge to their

Ostensibly, the story of Rapunzel is the tale of a young girl, locked up in a tower by a wicked

Rapunzel itself is the classic story of a mother s attempt to protect her young daughter from the

In 1845 a crop disease known as blight would be introduced to Ireland. It was a disease that would
cause potatoes to rot while they grew. It was from guano, which was part of a fertilizer that was
imported from South America. The contaminated fertilizer was also distributed to other countries in
Europe such as France, Germany, The Netherlands, and England. It was responsible for thousands
of deaths in these countries but was soon eliminated, as these countries were not as dependent on
the potato as the Irish were.
The Irish discovered the problem when they found that they were harvesting black potatoes. At
first they blamed the problem on poor weather, or insects. They just figured that it was another
poor farming season. The actual spreading of the disease was that its pores were carried in the
wind and land in pits where potatoes were to be planted. The disease would not die in the extreme
winter cold and would double the problem for the next spring s crop.
The first year, the Irish only saw it as another crop failure because it only effected a third of the
harvest. It was later that season that they realized that they were about to face a famine. The Irish
government would not give out aid to farmers because they felt that it would make the country look

Essay On Teenage Wasteland
In the story Teenage Wasteland, Donny is kind of a dump. Donny is one of those bad kids that
gets into trouble all the time. His parents don t realise where he s going until the time when the
story takes place. His mom gets him a tutor, who lets him do kind of whatever he wants, so he
ends up getting expelled from school. The takeaway of this story is that you should try hard in
school and life. That is inseparably connected with the fact that you should not do what donny
did. Donny is a hoodlum. His grades raised only a little bit, but he was caught with alcohol. And
if that isn t enough, he took advantage of his tutor, and got himself expelled. At the beginning of
the story, the author describes Donny s personality, and physical features. It says that when he
was little, he was actually a good fun kid. Then he grew up, and became a hoodlum. He hangs
out with the wrong type of kids, and he gets into trouble now. But there is a potential good kid
inside him. He just hides it. On page 1 and 2, it says As he grew older, his hair grew darker, and
he wore it longer, past his collar even. It hung in lank taffy colored ropes around his face which
was still an endearing face, fine featured, the eyes an unusual aqua blue. But his cheeks, of... Show

His tutor kind of let Donny do what he wanted, and was maybe a little too nice to him. All he
was trying to do was build up Donny s self esteem. But Donny took advantage of his tutor, and
got himself expelled from school. On page 6, it says In April, the principal called to tell her that
Donny had been expelled. There had been a locker check, and in Donny s locker they found five
cans of beer and half a pack of cigarettes. With Donny s previous record, this offense meant
expulsion. So Donny got himself expelled, by having beer, and cigarettes in his locker. That just
means Donny was doing the opposite of trying hard in school and

Scout As A Eagle Scout Award
What is the hardest thing you have ever had to do in your life? For myself, it was getting my
Eagle Scout award. Now for those who don t know what an Eagle Scout award is or means I will
try and explain it to you. An Eagle Scout award is the highest rank possible in Scouting. In order
to achieve this rank, you have to complete seven different ranks, along with other different
requirements along the way. The basic requirements that you need in order to get an Eagle
Scout rank are, twenty one different merit badges (eleven required and ten unrequired),
complete all of the classes, carry out a project that benefits your school, community, or church,
and do this all before your eighteenth birthday. Trust me when I say this, it s a lot harder than
what it seems. Only about 5% of Boy Scouts get their Eagle Scout award. I came so close to
becoming part of that 95% who didn t reach this goal. I procrastinated so long that I didn t
complete my project until one week before I turned eighteen. When I was young, my older
brother was in scouts and like most younger brothers, I liked to do what he did so, when I got
old enough I immediately asked my parents to put me into scouts. Unlike my brother I was very
strong willed to get my project done and become an Eagle Scout, at the beginning. I knew that
doing the project was very helpful for my future, it looked great on a resume for future jobs. But
over time I just got tired of doing the work that is required for scouting. I wouldn t go

Boeing Scrambles to Repair Problems with New Plane
Boeing Scrambles to Repair Problems With New Plane Layers of Outsourcing Slow 787
Production; Hostage to Suppliers By J. LYNN LUNSFORD December 7, 2007 EVERETT,
Wash. On Tuesday, Boeing Co. will give Wall Street a progress report on its 787 Dreamliner, as
it scrambles to overcome a six month delay in producing the new jet. A look inside the project
reveals that the mess stems from one of its main selling points to investors global outsourcing.
When the Chicago aerospace giant set out four years ago to build the fuel sipping jet, it figured the
chief risk lay in perfecting a process to build much of the plane from carbonfiber plastic instead of
aluminum. Boeing focused so hard on getting the science right that it didn t... Show more content on

The plan calls for suppliers to ship mostly completed fuselage sections, already stuffed with
wiring and other systems, to Boeing facilities around Seattle so they could be put together in as
few as three days. Existing production methods can keep a plane the size of the Dreamliner in the
final assembly area for a month. But many of these handpicked suppliers, instead of using their
own engineers to do the design work, farmed out this key task to even smaller companies. Some of
those ended up overloading themselves with work from multiple 787 suppliers, Boeing says. The
company says it never intended for its suppliers to outsource key tasks such as engineering, but that
the situation seemed manageable at the time. We tended to say, They know how to run their
businesses, says a Boeing executive familiar with the company s thinking. Now Boeing is hostage
to the suppliers, and there s very little they can do about it, says Tom Wroblewski, president in the
Seattle region for the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, which was
critical of all the outsourcing. Despite the start up problems, Boeing and its suppliers still say they
believe this new method of developing planes is the model for future projects. Once the production
line is running smoothly, they argue, it will be more efficient and profitable than existing
construction methods. 2 The companies brought in

Beatrice In Much Ado About Nothing
Abstract: This paper deals with the character analysis of Beatrice from Much Ado About
Nothing. The story is set in Messina. This is the story of culmination of a chaste woman, Hero.
Though Beatrice is supposed to be a supporting character in the play, she however steals the
show. Her intelligence combined with her softness makes her the most awesome character of the
play. She sees the inappropriateness of the world and instead of being a silent observer, she chooses
to raise her voice against it, which is a sure sign of wisdom.
Introduction: The character of Beatrice in the play Much Ado About Nothingis one of the strongest
female characters of Shakespeare. In the play, Beatrice is the niece of Leanato, the Governor of
Messina and very close ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We can clearly understand this when, while talking about Hero getting married, Antonio, Leonato s
brother says to Hero Well niece, I trust you will be rul d by your father . (ActII.Scene1, 35 40).
Throughout the play, we understand that Hero is a woman solely constructed by the norms of the
society and family. She does not have her own say. Throughout the play she is being suppressed
by the societal norms. Shakespeare has structured the character of Hero on the lines of a
traditional Elizabethan woman, silent and dominated. Through the character of Hero
Shakespeare has tried to portray the piteous state of Elizabethan women. However, Beatrice was
a little different. She openly objects male dominance. She was not ready to submit herself to
male dominance and authority. While talking to her uncle Leanato about her marriage, Beatrice
clearly says, Not till god make men of some other metal than earth: would it not grieve a woman
to be overmastered with a piece of valiant dust, to make an account of her life to a clod of
wayward marl? No, uncle, I ll none. Adam s sons are my brethren; and truly I hold it a sin to

  • 2. Mascot Analysis Rationale, explanation of interest, or area of focus This analysis will focus on the importance of mascots for the selected institutions and how they relate to the normal livelihoods of the students in both universities. The term mascot is used to refer to an animal, a person or object that is believed to bring some sense of good luck in various perspectives. It is a term and phenomenon that has been consistently used through history to relate to the success of various institutional activities, especially in the sports arena. Institutions with mascots tend to have a deep history in terms of its selection and related significance. The two selected universities in this assessment have peculiar mascot symbols that have been used for many years to derive distinct meanings that represent respective cultures. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since then, the institution has passed a joint ideology about the nocturnal bird to its students with emphasis put on how it represents a sense of knowledge and wisdom thus a perfect symbol to use in any center of learning (Temple University, 2015). Also, the owl mascot has been attributed to the goddess Athena, who is mythically known for her wisdom, knowledge, arts, skills and precision in warfare. From nature s perspective, the owl is deemed a resourceful, perceptive, courageous and fierce fighter. These attributes have been prescribed to the university students for years with an objective of building a learning culture in the institution. The main problem noted with the perception created for this mascot is that the university has not reiterated on how the symbol can be incorporated to ensure success in the extra curriculum activities. The university is not famous or well established in sporting events, and this can be attributed to the message passed by the institution to the students (Owlsports, ... • 3. Taraji P Henson Essay When asked to write about my favorite actor or actress, there are many people I could have chosen but I choose Taraji P Henson because she is the most real to me. I can t help but smile when I think of Taraji P Henson a beautiful, diverse actress who is humble and sincere in her craft. When I was nine years old, I first saw Taraji in her second filmdebut, Hustle Flow in which she portrayed a character named Shug. Shug was a pregnant prostitute who became the love interest of the male lead. Although Taraji is modest about her singing talent, she gives a riveting performance in this movie particularly on the song It s Hard Out Here for a Pimp. I was unsure that it was her really singing until I found out she provided the actual vocals for the Three 6 Mafia track and the song won an Academy Awardfor Best Original Song in 2006. Also, Taraji... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In January 2016, she won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress Television Series Drama for Empire becoming only the third African American actress to take home the award after Gail Fisher (1972) and Regina Taylor (1992). In all these roles Taraji brings an authentic interpretation of character that is relatable to the audience. She wins everyone over with her sincerity and enthusiasm. While her portrayal look effortless, Taraji does a lot of preparation and considers carefully the roles she decides to take. From TV to film to animation, Taraji P Henson has had a diversity of experience that is rarely highlighted or spoken of yet is a testament to her commitment to acting.. Despite that fact she remains humble and hungry in a craft that is fleeting. She remains relevant and poise to continue into the future despite the ageism that plague female actresses. • 4. Thank You For Arguing Summary In section 4 of Thank You For Arguing by Jay Heinrichs, Heinrichs starts out by explaining Cicero s five canons of persuasion that include: invention, arrangement, style, memory, and delivery. Invention is the start of the persuasion and the thought of what is wanted to be accomplished. Then, the issue itself needs to be figured out and resolved. Finally, the person needs to think about the audience and what their values are. That will get an individual a start on the art of persuasion. Arrangement is how a person is going to arrange an argument so the persuasion is the most impactful. Arrangement comes down to this rule of thumb Ethos first. Then logos. Then pathos. (283). Arrangement follows an outline that can be used starting with introduction,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also, refutation is developed to win the argument and completely smash your opponents facts and argument. At the end, Heinrichs explains the conclusion where the individual states their best points from the argument. Style is how a person expresses their thoughts and words. Proper language is one of the styles which are words that suit the occasion and my audience (287). Heinrichs also explains the style of clarity, which is speaking to make the words obvious and straight facts. Also, Memory is used to create an image in the audience s minds to make them feel and imagine what the individual is talking about to persuade the audience more impactfully. Finally, the fifth canon of persuasion is delivery and how the person uses body language, along with your voice, rhythms, and breathing (290). Voice is key in delivery especially in the volume of the voice and how the audience emphasises the tone of the speaker. Towards the end of the novel, Heinrichs reiterates on a few keywords including: goals, ethos, pathos, logos, and kairos. Heinrichs also states examples of situations when these tools are needed. An example is when a person wants their book club to read a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The turn of the century was ripe to explore areas of tradition that many racial groups considered revered, and traditionally held beliefs would be called into question when likened to issues of practicality and basic survival needs. The evolutionary process from old to new had begun and there was no way to stop its forward movement. Sara was soon to become a pioneer in her own right. Reb Smolinsky, the forbearer of the family, spent his life on a quest for enriched learning and understanding of the Holy Torah. His Talmudic study and religious discussions were an honored occupation in the eyes of the Jewish community, but provided little in support for his family; therefore, the family was forced to accept community donations of charity for their basic needs. While the pursuit of religious focus was considered a respectable profession among the males, females of the household were only educated in the essentials and expected to work and sacrifice for the males. While Mr. Smolinsky saw the badge of poverty as an honor and responsibility, the females in the family were embarrassed and humiliated amongst their neighbors and always worried about what the next day would bring. This is hard for some of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Principles Of The Kingdom Of God The Principles of the Kingdom of God are found abundantly within the text writings of the Gospels and other books within the Bible. It is easy to see that the Kingdom of God came upon us when Jesus walked the earth teaching, healing and preaching; doing the works of our Father, God Almighty. This essay will attempt to bring to light methods which Jesusused to teach those around him and touch on some of the aspects of the Kingdom of God. Robert Coleman (1993) listed the methods used by Jesus as selection, association, impartation, delegation and reproduction. In this progressive teaching method Jesus chose his disciples, associated with them and gave them a living example. He then set them out to complete tasks based upon his teachings. This process was eventually restarted when the disciples themselves chose students of their own. The First Principle of the Kingdom of God The Kingdom is for the Jew first then the Gentile, however; the Kingdom will be taken away and given to a people who will produce its fruit (Matthew 21:43). Perhaps the Kingdom will be taken away from the Jew and given to the Gentile to produce its fruits, to preach the Gospel to the nations, to heal the sick and continue the works of the Father. It was in the plan from the beginning that God used the Jewish nation as a blessing to the whole world in that All nations will be blessed through you was an Abrahamic promise given when God called a people to be set apart for him and to ... • 10. The Ironic Heira Hierarchy In Measure For Measure There is a certain structure of control between the characters in Shakespeare s Measure for Measure that continually shifts, and never is this more pronounced than in the relationship/dialogues between Angelo and Isabella. This structure creates a back and forth balance of power and not only affects the dynamics between both characters, but more important, influences the development of the story. Control is also, at least attempted, to be manifested externally by Angelo in his desires to control with an iron fist unlike his predecessor, and Isabella in choosing to join a nunnery and lead a chaste life away from the hedonism exhibited by the characters we meet in Vienna. In a successful attempt to create a movie/book feeling, he replaced 158 pages of words with pictures. This picture, depicted on pages 118 119, caught my eye because it effectively contributes to the development of the narrative. It relates to Hugo s father, who is a minor character, but the picture perfectly correlates with the description provided in the pages. This image is a flashback from Hugo s mind. It shows that Hugo s father, can t stop thinking about the automaton even at work. In the picture, Selznick has cleverly managed to convey the mood of Hugo s father. Selznick produces this by using, body language and facial expression, which is my first criteria. He draws the character to show that Hugo s father is absorbed in what he is doing, which shows his passion towards his job and the automaton. • 17. The Working For A Major Cola Company We were assigned the ultimate task of finding the phosphoric acid in several rival sodas for this experiment but to get there it required many steps to be taken in advance. As we were a working for a major cola company it was crucial that we were aware of how to use the technology and then more importantly the relationships between all the findings we made through numerous experiments. Our main source of technology was a spectrophotometer so in order to move forward in finding anything out about the colas we had to learn how to use this Spec 20. After looking at the machine and doing research we determined that by using the Spec 20 we would be able to get values of both absorbance and % Transmittance for a solution. The Spec 20 is able to give these values by shining a lightbeam through a solution and measuring the intensity before and after it has passed through the solution.1 After doing research we were able to put the machine to use in order to get first hand experience of how to use the machine and to get an understanding of the relationships between results present by the spectrophotometer. Food coloring was the subject of our first tests with the Spec 20 and our group choose the colors red and blue. Along with the food coloring we would also be running Potassium Permanganatethrough the machine. • 18. Chaucer s Retraction In The Canterbury Tales Essay Different scholars have had different understandings of Chaucer s Retraction and The Canterbury Tales. The divergent views have drawn different interpretations of the intended meaning and the context of its existence. Many scholars believe that The Parson s Tale was Chaucer s final work. Some people feel Chaucer s Retraction was the final one in the collection, while others doubt that Chaucer was the real author of the repudiation. This dilemma is implored by the fact the retraction completely disowns the earlier versions of Chaucer s works. Those who agree that Chaucer s Retraction is the actual work of Geoffrey Chaucer give several reasons why he disowned his work. They explain what he sought to achieve and how the retraction relates to The Parson s Tale and the whole framework of The Canterbury Tales . The fact that Chaucer s main reason of retracting his tales in The Canterbury Tales is to avoid accusations arising from writing some of the tales is no secret. The fictions rather use some words and an approach that at the time would have sounded offensive to the pilgrimage or as a criticism of the church. While the practice of dowry is commonly perceived by the international community as one of Indian custom and culture, in its current form it is more accurately described as a social phenomenon believed to bestow a greater social status upon the recipient. Originally designed to be a gift given out of affection at the time of a daughter s marriage, today the dowry system has turned into a perverted version of an ancient and respected custom. It has now become an obligatory transaction that places a heavy impact on a family s financial and social status and a young wife s welfare. In 1896, French scientist Henri Becquerel discovered natural radioactivity. Many scientists of the period were working with cathode rays, and other scientists were gathering evidence on the theory that the atom could be subdivided. • 29. The Homosexuality As An Interdisciplinary Theorization Of... The proposition of my paper is to propose the homosexuality as an interdisciplinary theorization of Caravaggio s artwork done in Rome. The purpose of this paper is to not dig deeper into the homosexuality of Caravaggio but to give a different representation and perspective of homosexuality. This paper does not discuss the actual sexuality of Caravaggio, but more so how we perceive norms that can differentiate with connotations to sexuality in Rome during his lifetime. Homosexualityis intertwined with norm systems that concerns sexuality. Caravaggio has some significant traits in his early art work done in Rome such as sensualism and the extensive use of charm. The sensual charisma has been extensively explained in religious terms and given a simpler cultural context by Maurizio Calvesi. There have been many debates where Caravaggio was a homosexual or not, based on the paintings he had done that had young men and young boys with seductive trances on their faces. The few examples of this would be The Cardsharps, Boy bitten by a lizard, The Lute Player, Bacco, the Musicans, Boy with a Basket of Fruit, St John the Baptist. Also, to contribute to the assumption that Caravaggio was a homosexual was the private paintings he has done which include a naked Pluto, Jupiter, and Neptune, in order to symbolize a perfect human in an inhumane world. The paintings on the ceilings help bring to light the social culture that shows the norms directly connected to sexuality in Rome at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Our bodies do it on their own by moving air into the lungs when a muscle called the diaphragm, along with other nearby muscles, contract and causes the chest cavity to expand. Then air is exhaled when these muscles relax, and the lung tissue returns or recoils to its original size (Jardins 2013) . When the patient needs help with breathing due to a disease, surgery or the use of medications which stop the muscle from working on their own, a ventilator is a life saving replacement. The volume of oxygen in the cylinder is depressed down and the pressure increases moving the oxygen through the tubes into the patient. The plethysmography technique applies to Boyle s law and uses measurements of volume and pressure changes to determine lung volume, assuming the temperature is constant. The plethysmography technique measures the volume of all compressible gas in the thorax, including gas trapped behind airway obstructions or in the pleural space (Kacmarek 2013). This is just another example of how important Boyle s law has become to the medical profession. As this report states, Boyle s law is very important in our everyday lives and in the medical profession.
