Garvey s aim was to recontextualize particular aspects of seeming irreconcilable
systems of Marxism/Leninism, monarchism, and even of National Socialism for the

The four main themes that the Garvey movement was built upon were 1) Africa for
Africans at home and abroad, 2) unity, 3) self reliance, and 4) retaining their black

him to the United States where he founded an American branch of the UNIA in 1917
and furthered his initiatives

I see in the future what I ve seen in the past. (Herbert 22). Humans are infatuated with
wondering about what comes next in the future. Were people assigned a
predetermined role in history, or did they have the free will of controlling what
happened next? Paul Atreides, the main protagonist in Dune by Frank Herbert, has
the capability to see into the future on account of his dreams. Another protagonist that
has knowledge of what happens in the future is Odysseus from Homer s The Odyssey.
Odysseus does not have the ability to see into the future, but he has allies that can.
Through the intertextual dialogues, a similar plot progression can be recognized
between the science fiction novel and the Homeric poem. Both the poem and the
novel both follow the trope of a Hero s Journey , which is a basic device used by

Joseph Campbell, who is the originator of the Hero s Journey idea, states that a

Often times, a communities job is to educate their citizens. So, if some of those
citizens are not coming to school because of an unexcused reason, it it also their job
to figure out why. If a school wants students to be successful, truancy should be
decriminalized.
A school is accountable for making sure students come to school. So, if a student is
not coming to school, rather than that student being punished, a plan should be made
to make sure that student does come to school. As well, more responsibility would be
put on the community ; who wants to educate citizens, to figure out why the student
