Piaget in the Toddler Classroom
There are a lot of things to consider when designing the layout of a toddler classroom. It is very
important to create an environment that is geared toward the proper developmental stage in order
for young children to get the most out their classroom. Children in the preoperational stage (2 yrs.
7 yrs.) need a wide variety of hands on activities to promote development. Using Jean Piaget s
Theory of Cognitive development to design a classroom will give toddlers a wide range of activities
to gain a strong foundation for learning.

Notice the Red Square, green circle, and yellow triangle on the floor rug. I would like to have
something similar to help the students define their assigned group. For rotating centers each group
will play in once center for a designated period of time; then switch centers.
Each center designed is to engage a different aspect of child development. The large floor rug is
designed as a social area. The children will gather each morning to begin the daily routine. The
more time children spend together the less time it will take them to develop social skills such as
speech and conversation. We will begin each day by talking about the events from the afternoon
before and re cap on the activities of the day before just to see what they remember; especially
from the lesson.
After circle time we will head to our lesson area. This is the location where the academics will
take place. At this age the children will be working on fine motor skills by coloring and using
scissors. Arts and crafts may be one of the most beneficial activities in the lesson area. The students
can learn to recognize letters or number using the art activities.
The materials needed for this activity are: letter/number template, related pictures from magazines
or other visual media i.e.: a apple; b bus, construction paper, glue/paste, and scissors. The students

Toys Of The 1960 s Essay
Toys of the 1960 s The 1960 s was the evolution of toys. The 60 s were the building block of toys
that are still popular to this day. The millions of toys that were sold during the 60 s helped effect
the toys to evolve to other versions of the original. Toys have been the key of a happy childhoods
ever since the first release. Some of the most popular and important toys during the 1960 s included
Barbie, G.I. Joe, Twister, and Frisbee.
Barbie, the Teenage Fashion Model
Barbie is an important role model of girls at a young age. Handler got the idea for Barbie after
noticing her daughter, Barbara, dressing adult paper dolls in cutout clothing. [Englert] Ruth
immediately recognized that experimenting with the future from a safe distance though pretend
play was an important part of growing up. [History Barbie] Recently, Barbie has announced that
Barbie will be curvier, different hair length and/or color, different skin tones, etc. to have girls
experiment the doll as themselves with decision making, problem solving, and more. ...Barbie

The Inheritors
Before the history is recorded through the invention of writing, the prehistoric men had been
showing their existence or culture through painting, tools used, and oral traditions. The end of
prehistory is different for every region since the discovery of writing varies with different places.
By using the oral traditions, tools, and painting, numerous philosophers claimed several ideas of
how the prehistoric men lives and the cultureor social behaviors in the prehistoric period. However,
as different new antiques are found, philosophers then presented new theories about the prehistoric
men s cultures. Therefore, our perspectives for the prehistoric culture are also changed or shifted
throughout the time. Moreover, with different fields of study... Show more content on

By looking at the skulls and bones fragments that were discovered, Leori Gourhan discovered that
humans had erect postures long time ago (pg. 18). Once humans were able to stand upright, the
hands are free with the brains developed that allow humans to create technology, which plays
important roles in the development of human society (pg. 19). In other words, hands are the first
tools that humans use as the technology. With the freedom of hands, humans are able to create
other tools, such as spears, basketry, and woodwork, and to use their brains (pg. 133). In other
words, as discussed in the lecture slide, even the skeleton evolves through technological feedback
and involvement of the body and the mind with the surrounding world, the mind is a byproduct of
this body interaction. The prehistoric culture started as the humans were able to stand upright with
the liberation of hands. With the freedom of hands, humans are able to create more technological
feedback to the surrounding world and that the brains began to evolve since humans have to
understand and discover the tools that will make their lives easier. Leori Gourhan claims that our
brains have been developing since the use of hand till thousands of years ago when the Egyptians
period (from recitation notes) that the development of the brain has stopped. The liberations of

Research Paper On Isaac Newton Space Flight
Isaac Newton Space Flight The Laws of Motion and universal gravity proposed by Sir Newton led
to the development of space flight. Each law has a separate connection that when pieced together
can send you into the air.
The first law states that an object in motion tends to stay in motion unless an external force is
applied (cesplo.phys.utk.edu). Now this applies to space craft when a rocket sits until being
lifted up once the throttle of the engine is released (NASA). This is also because of
aerodynamics, developed George Cayley. Aerodynamics is the pressure when the force is applied
to get up off the ground, perpendicular to the surface (NASA). The second law says force equals
mass times acceleration, as well

Oxidation Titration
Introduction/Theoretical Background: A common task in chemistry is the determination of a
substance present in a product. If the product contains a substance that can be oxidized, then it is
possible to determine the number of moles of that substance by titrating the sample with a solution
of a strong oxidizing agent. In this lab, a solution of KMnO4, an oxidizing agent, will be
standardized by titrationwith a solution containing a known concentration of iron (II) ions, (Fe+).
The concentration of oxalic acid solution will be determined by titration with the MnO4 solution
that had been standardized first. The purpose of this lab is to standardize a solution of potassium

Hamlet Figurative Language Essay
Figurative language Based on Contrast It is the third type of figurative language which employs
an understatement (Litotes or Meiosis), exaggeration (Hyperbole and Understatement), and
contradictory (Paradox and Oxymoron). Iron refers to words say one thing but means something
else. 2.6.3.1 Litotes or Meiosis According to Serir (2012) Litotes, derived from a Greek word
meaning simple , is a figure of speech which employs an understatement by using double negatives
or, in other words, the positive statement is expressed by negating its opposite expressions. For
example, using the expression not too bad for very good is an understatement as well as a double
negative statement that confirms a positive idea by negating the opposite. Similarly,... Show more

One word more, good lady. In the above lines taken from Hamlet , he draws two contradictory
ideas be cruel...be kind . The contradiction is understood in the context of the play. Hamlet wants
to kill Claudius, the murderer of his father, who has married his mother. Hamlet does not want
his mother to be the beloved of his father s murderer. Therefore, he is of the view that this murder
will purge her. 2.6.3.5 IronyThe irony, in general, is a manner of speaking which implies a
discrepancy between what is expected and what actually happens. Words are used with
humorous or satirical intention so that the meaning is sometimes the direct opposite of what
has been actually said. It also implies the adoption of another s point of view for the purpose of
ridicule or sarcasm. Harry Shaw (1972: 208) states it is: a figure of speech in which the literal

between the poet and the words of one of the fictitious characters are to be aware of ironic point

Achilles Leadership
Commanders of armies throughout history and the world have lead their soldiers into battle and
fought alongside them. Often, they are on the front line and put themselves in the same danger as
their soldiers. As a King, Agamemnon had the responsibility to his soldiers to motivate and fight
with them. Although his motivation for honor and victory never changed, his leadership over his
soldiers evolves from self interest to doing what is best for his soldiers.
The story begins with Agamemnon putting his pride before his soldiers needs when he dishonored
Chryses, Apollo s priest. He kidnapped Chryses daughter and when Chryses came with a ransom,
Agamemnon dismissed [him] with a rough speech (1.33), treating Chryses with less respect than a

The Social Influences of the Visual Entertainment Media
American culture has a bi directional relationship with the visual media, in which expressions in
television and film manifest in society but social norms also manifest on the screen. Therefore,
visual media in the United States actually has the potential to alter social norms and interactions.
The televisionshows that were popular in the 1950s and early 1960s reflect the conservative
family values that were popular at that time in American history. The Brady Bunch, for example,
shows a happy go lucky white family, and highlights the suburban American dream. More
contemporary shows show how American social values and norms have evolved since the 1950s.
In Will and Grace, gay characters feature prominently to reflect the fact that Americans are coming
out of the closet and staying out. There are ample examples of how television reflects social norms,
while actively working to shape those norms as well.
For instance, the 1980s show The Cosby Show was one in which the middle class African American
family was portrayed for the first time on television. The production was a deliberate attempt to
teach new values that would help eliminate the standard stereotypes of African Americans that do
not fit into the white dominant culture. By producing The Cosby Show, Bill Cosby and other
entertainers were actively shaping the values and worldviews of Americans. In a more direct way,
children s television shows on PBS such as Sesame Street are written so that characters convey

Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome Phenotypes
Investigation As stated in the introduction there are multiple ways in which a gene can and does
mutate. Some go unnoticed for the affected individual s life. Others, like cancer causing mutations,
are detrimental and occasionally deadly. These mutations are either categorized as somatic or
hereditary and each effect individuals in different manners. Somatic mutations are acquired. This
means they happen later in life, cannot be passed down, and only affect certain cells. Hereditary
mutations are inherited from parents and can continue for generations. They affect almost every
cell in the body and are with the affected individual for life. With androgeninsensitivity the
inheritance pattern is X linked recessive making it hereditary and passed... Show more content on

While there are three phenotypes for androgen insensitivity, for the purpose of this particular paper,
the complete androgen insensitivity syndrome phenotype will be the one elaborated upon. The
typical phenotype for someone with androgen insensitivity is hyper feminization of a male (with
XY sex chromosomes) to the point where the genitalia are not masculine and may contain
elementary mГјllerian structures (Gottlieb et al. 1999). The male embryo should produce a protein
in the womb known as the Anti MГјllerian hormone which is facilitated by the AMH gene a cluster
of proteins that ensures sex differentiation occurs in fetal development. It is entirely possible that a
male embryo does not release the Anti MГјllerian hormone because the testis are not suppressing
the mГјllerian structures. In turn the wolffian ducts, structures that include the epididymis, vas
deferens, and seminal vesicles, only partially die. Partially is used here because there are both male
and female characteristics presented by those with androgen insensitivity. AMH should interact with
the Anti MГјllerian hormone receptors to target the MГјllerian ducts and kill the structures. Without
the supressment rudimentary MГјllerian structures begin to present themselves, since the embryo is
genetically male and has more development to do to characterize itself as such the structures do not
get fully finished. These structures would hold the ability to produce female characteristics as they
would need to serve their purpose in the

Abolition Of Pennies
The U.S have been producing pennies for over a 200 years now and over time it has become
very useless to the society. A penny is only one cent and to most people that is worthless. Pennies
were more valued around the 1950s, when the products were very cheap to buy. As technology
evolved, and as products got more expensive, the use of dollar bills and greater got more valuable.
The abolition of the penny needs to happen in the United States. Because pennies are outdated,
therefore the United States should abolish the pennies, since there s no single products that can be
purchased with a penny. Pennies are so worthless in this new century, but yet the united states are
still producing millions of pennies every day. The U.S economy has increased

Challenges South African Americans Faced
South African ecologists currently face many challenges relating to the conservation of biodiversity
and the growing economy. Excessive hunting and land development, as well as unemployment, all
remain growing concerns for this struggling country. Jan Hendrik, a South African who made

In order to effectively combat these issues, leaders must implement new courses of action that
involve fundraising and awareness through the use of rhetorical sensitivity. According to Lloyd F.
Bitzer, associate professor of speech at the University of Wisconsin, a rhetorical situation arises
when a circumstance requires the attention of an audience. The audience must overcome obstacles
to achieve a certain goal set forth by the leader utilizing rhetorical discourse (Bitzer 9). Fundraising
provides one way for South African eco tourism companies to maintain their business and promote
more jobs for local people. In order for fundraising to yield the best results, leaders must be aware
that there is no reason to apologize for asking for a gift to a worthwhile cause (Rosso 6). Essentially,
leaders must have confidence in their cause, whether it includes the preservation of South Africa s
wildlife, the protection of its animals, or the promotion of employment among members of the
community. This positive attitude encourages tourists to donate more money or time to the
companies, aiding in achieving the goal s fulfillment. Rhetorically sensitive fund raisers may
present the exigence and constraints to their audience. In the case of ecotourism, the audience
consists of foreign tourists who bring new money to circulate throughout the struggling South
African communities. If leaders do not make a convincing

Analysis of To My Dear and Loving Husband by Anne Bradstreet
Analysis of To My Dear and Loving Husband by Anne Bradstreet
Anne Bradstreet, the author of To My Dear and Loving Husband was a
Puritan. This had great influence on the meaning and theme of her poem. This poem was
actually not published until almost 40 years after she died. She lived in a harsh religious world
where it was looked down upon for women to be courageous and smart. She lived a life that
where she was unspoken and obedient to because of her religious belief. She had many concerns
and doubts about her puritan beliefs and lifestyle. These doubts are presented in her poem. The
main theme of Bradstreet s poem is her undying love for her husband.
In this paper I will discuss how tone and imagery help the reader to ... Show more content on

The love in which she describes is almost like a fairy tale. Despite the fact that I can not hear her
recite this poem I can imagine in my own mind that her voice is soft and gentle and like that of a
person in love. The first three lines state, If ever two were one, then surely we. If ever man were
loved by wife, then thee; if ever wife was happy in man. These three lines are significant not only
because they are the first three, making them the introduction but they also elude a graceful tone
to the poem. The words in these first three lines are grouped together so that they flow extremely
well that it makes it easier to read and it flows nicely through the minds ear. Love is a complicated
thing to understand but Bradstreet keeps it on a level that is easy for the reader to relate to and
maintain the mindset that you know exactly how she is feeling.
Imagery is what occurs when poets use words that appeal to our senses: we perceive, through his
or her words, a sense idea or image: these images can appeal to all six senses: sight, hearing, touch,
smell, taste, and balance. Bradstreet uses imagery in her poem to when she describes the love
between her and her husband. For example: In lines
8 10 Bradstreet writes; My love is such that rivers cannot quench, thy love is such I can no way
repay, the heavens reward thee manifold.
I pray. In these three lines Bradstreet is using imagery by explaining that the love

By repaying their debt, this helps the banking industry, which in turn strengthens the economy. This
is a win win situation because everyone benefits from it: the consumer improves his or her credit
worthiness in order to purchase a home at a later time, the banking industry does not lose out on
loaned money in either the short or long term, and home buyers will be able to enter an
agreement with the lender knowing beforehand that their interest rate will not rise at any point,
thus making it affordable. For people who are currently in an ARM, the banking industry should
allow them to transfer to a fixed rate loan that allows affordability to the consumer without
jeopardizing loss of money on the banking industry. The banking industry should also be flexible
regarding requests by its home owners. Some people are beginning to realize ahead of time that
eventually they will not able to afford the house they are living in. One solution might be to allow
the flexibility such as lowering payments for a specified amount of time such as one or two years.
Affordability is the main idea to a homeowner. If a mortgage is affordable, most likely a
homeowner will continue to make his or her payments on time and not foreclose on the home.
For example, if a person is paying $1,000 per month in mortgage and is not able to afford this
amount, by allowing them to reduce their payments to $800 on a two year agreement, the bank will
temporarily lose

Noel Perrin Gender Roles Essay
A debated topic in today s world is gender stereotypes, which is a subject that s been argued upon
for over a century, this essay will analyze Noel Perrin s perspective on the subject, as well as my
own opinion to the subject matter, and compare those to each other and to the traditional gender
roles/stereotypes. Perrin describes the concepts of manhood and womanhood as sort of a rigid
percentage slider, as in you are born with attraction to certain activities and a certain way of
interaction and cannot change that as it s who you are, he also groups people into 3 main groups,
manly the macho activities such as watching football, and being able to repair your belongings,
feminine the girly activities, such as sewing, and nurturing the kids, and androgynous, which is a

Religious Affiliation As A Choice
Wade and Tavris s Invitation to Psychology defines religious affiliation as a choice made by a
person of which particular belief system they will live according to. Furthermore, whether a
person is a Methodist, Muslim, Catholic, Jew, Hindu, and so on, is not heritable . The religious
group people choose to belong to has a lot to do with influence from several factors, including the
affiliation of their parents, ethnicity, culture, and social class (142). Conversely, the term
religiosity is defined as a person s depth of religious feeling and adherence to a religions rules (142),
and contrary to affiliation, has a genetic component. Growing up in the Episcopal church, God has
always been a part of my life. As I have grown up, however, I have continuously assessed my
religiosity regarding my faith. Using the book s definition, I believe my religiosity is subtle yet
traditional. But when it comes to my own beliefs, there are several factors that have shaped the
way I perceive God, faith, religion, and their role in my life.
Growing up in the Episcopal church, I have always had a sort of relaxed understanding of God and
His teachings. Beginning in kindergarten and continuing through the eighth grade, I attended a
private Catholic school as the only student in my grade who wasn t affiliated with the Catholic
church. Often my religion teachers would ask me questions like, how is this different in your
church? , or have me explain to the class that Episcopalian women

Summary Of Hard Times By Charles Dickens
Angelina Almanzar
ENGL 35701: 19th Century British Novel
Professor Elizabeth Weybright
27 June 2016
Utilitarianism in Hard Times
During the Victorian Era, many philosophers focused on utilitarian philosophy and ways of
thinking, choosing the best decisions and actions for their own self interest. In his novel, Hard Times
, Charles Dickens satirizes the English educational system, society, and economics, but most
importantly, through them, he criticizes the many abuses of utilitarianism. Many writers such as
Bornali Nath Dowerah and Ali Taghizadeh have done research on Dicken s work mostly focusing
on utilitarianism and its negative impacts on society especially on those of the lower class.
Charles Dickens, the most renowned social commentator of his time, criticized the ills of society as
he commiserates with those who were affected the most by social and economical abuses.
According to the article Charles Dickens as Social Commentator and Critic published on the
Victorian Web (www.victorianweb.org/authors/dickens/diniejko.html), Dickens was not only very
successful in exposing what was wrong with society, but also in exposing the ills of the utilitarian
theory which at the time rejected the human imagination or fancy. Utilitarianism is an ethical
theory which as we may know recommends ethical recommendations for everyday life, thus
making hard decision making easier for us. This theory mostly focuses on moral action, holding on
to the belief that people s happiness

The Influence Of Supernatural Elements In Medieval Times
During the medieval times individuals lives were heavily influenced by supernatural elements.
Their lives were controlled by religion and churches. Unlike today, where people may choose to
be religious or not, in the medieval times religion was an important aspect of their everyday life.
It dominated their lives not only socially but financially as well. The churches would get paid to
protect the people from demons or any other evil supernatural forces that people feared.
However, people also believed they could be protected by saints, a religious man or woman that
has died and is considered holy. People would pray to different saints to receive help with any
struggles they were facing, every saint was said to have different ways of helping

Florence and the David Statues
The city of Florence has gone through many invaders, illnesses and many other deaths not related
to the battlefield. They had survived it all they believed that they had God on their side and have
always come out on top, much like the biblical story of David in battle against Goliath. This
influenced Florenceto take on David as their symbol and used it to portray the success of
Florence. Many artists have created sculptures portraying works of David. It has been depicting
it in so many different manners, that there is at least one surviving example from each major art
periods. Although there are many we will only be focusing on two works of David. First is
Donatello s classically inspired youthful boy depiction of David, and the second is Bernini s heroic
warrior. The Medici family was the most powerful political family of Florence. They saw
themselves as being the reason for Florence s supremacy and wanted to used Florence s symbol of
David as their own. The Medici were aware of Donatello s earlier sculptureof David in Florence s
town hall and commissioned Donatello to create them their own sculpture of David. Donatello s
bronze sculpture of David possesses both the relaxed contrapposto and the nude beauty of the
Classical period and the style of the Greeks. He was the first Renaissance sculptor to portray nude
male figure. In the Middle Ages, the clergy regarded nude statues as both indecent and idolatrous,
and nudity in general appeared only rarely in art

The Guidon Essay
The guidon, also referred to as the colours or the standard, is an important and time honored piece
of the military s history that is still observed and revered today. The guidon is thought to have
originated from ancient Egytptian times, where it was believed to have represented rulers and the
armies they commanded. The idea endured well into medieval European times as it was used to
depict each commanders specific coat of arms. This is so that each soldier could see through the
dust and smoke created from the battlefield where their particular regimentwas located, so as not to
be separated from them. We still use guidons today, though maybe not for the same purpose or in
the same situations, mainly because of how advanced warfare... Show more content on

Later, battle honors were added to the colours, which made them even more significant and were
revered even more by members of the regiment. The colours are never destroyed capriciously
anymore. When they get too old and worn out to be used or displayed as the uit standard, they
are moved to museums until they moulder into dust. However, in modern armies, if the colours
are in danger of being captured by the enemy, there are standing orders for them to be destroyed.
It is for this reason and the advent of modern weapons, and subsequent changes in tactics, colours
are no longer carried into battle. However, they are still used at formal events and ceremonies.
The word guidon derives from the Italian guidone meaning guide or marker and/or the Middle
French corruption guyd hommes, hence it is the focus for soldiers in battle. The significance of
the guidon is that it represents the unit and its commanding officer. When the commander is in,
his or her guidon is displayed for everyone to see. When he leaves for the day, the guidon is taken
down. It is an honor, although sometimes a dubious one, to be the guidon carrier for a unit,
known as a guidon bearer or guide . He or she stands in front of the unit alongside of the
commander (or the commander s representative), and is the rallying point for troops to fall into
formation when the order is given. In drill and ceremonies the guidon and commander are always in
front of the formation.

Introduction
National Right to Life Committee(NRLC) is the second oldest and largest pro life organization in
the United States. This social movement organization deals with several life related issues like
abortion, assisted suicide or euthanasia, cloning, Medicare issues and so on. However, my focus
topics are Abortion and Assisted Suicide/ Euthanasia because these are the two most common

Abortion
The rate of abortion in the United States has been increasing rapidly since 1973, with an estimated
total of over 55 million abortions. Research also shows that more Americans now commit abortion
for less important reasons than rape of incest since the legalization approximately 93% of the
women who carry out abortion explain that they do it for social reasons . However, National Right

Rhetorical Devices in Night Walker by Brent Staples Essay
Brent Staples uses vivid language and rhetorical devices to express and convey the elements of
fear, anger, and violence. We all make many decisions based on past experiences. That s how we
learn to avoid touching a hot stove burner for example. It s also about how we learn to do things
that bring us pleasure. So we all develop discriminating behavior, but when that discriminationis
based purely on the color on that person s skin, or his ethnicity, without knowing anything else
about that person, it becomes racism. Being a malicious looking black man, walking the streetsat

stories of conflict and pathos to illustrate violence and the emotional/physical price it has on
people and their attitudes. Being subject to racism and discrimination is demeaning and
debilitating. In fact they can lead you to anger. Relatively speaking, however, I never fared as
badly as another black male journalist. (paragraph.8) Stemming from racism is common when
someone is mistreated or falsely accused of something because of their race. Mistaking the
reporter for the killer, police officers hauled him from his car at gunpoint and but for his press
credentials would probably have tried to book him. Such episodes are not uncommon. Black men
trade tales like this all the time. (paragraph.8) Staples portrays anger using euphemism and
implies that the anger sterns from stereotyping of African Americans. These real life experiences
and the vivid imagery give the reader an acute awareness into the harmful effects of racism.. Fear,
violence, and anger brought on by racism all provide the foundation of the story Night Walker by
Brent Staples. The author uses personal life experiences and vivid imagery to ingress upon the
reader the impact of discrimination. Not only does he use rhetorical devices, he uses concrete

Natural And Man Made Disasters
This paper will discuss the differences between two different natural and man made disasters. The
disasters that will be discussed are Hurricane Katrina and the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.
Additionally, this paper will look into the specifics of what constitutes a natural and man made
disaster. Specifically, this paper will look into each disaster to include the events surrounding
them; the risks; and the assessments. Furthermore, this paper will look at some of the details of
each disaster and why there was so much devastation. Finally, this paper will look at a few
similarities, but mainly the differences between the two, and how the effects of each still linger
today.
Natural Disaster
Natural disasters are anything from floods, earthquakes, volcanoes, hurricanes, tornadoes,
wildfires, or anything else nature could develop that causes massive amounts of damage, or cause
a large losses of life. Such events are not anything caused because of human beings, but only by the
actions of atmospheric conditions, or due to the changes of continental drifts that these disasters
occur. Technology has come a long way since the early days before the industrial revolution where
predictions can be made and warnings can be issued. This helps reduce the amount of possible loss
of lives that would occur in 21st century. However, that is not what happened during Hurricane
Katrina, a category 5 Hurricane.

the other senior executives looked bewildered.
This, Terrill announced, is the reason for the lack of productivity in the Sales Engineeringdivision.
These are the reports your people require every month. The fact that they sat on my desk all month
shows that no one reads this material. I suggest that the engineers time could be used in a more
productive manner, and that one brief monthly report from my office will satisfy the needs of the
other departments.
Questions
1. Does John Terrill leadership style fit the definition of leadership. Explain.
Yes, Terrill shows his leadership qualities by listening to the engineers and concerns on the problem
facing by them that resulted poor productivity. Terrill is optimise that he can resolve the issue by
trying to influence top management by showing them that those unnecessary reports are wasting
and holding the engineers from focusing on the main objective of the department. Terrill has
improved the relationship with the engineer by changing the reporting procedure and gaining their
trust as well. By befriend with the engineer and using empowerment in his management, Terrill and

The beginning of these facilities was in New France by the Catholic missionaries to provide care,

policies. When the British North America Act was passed in 1867, the government was required to

were eventually taken over by the Nepalese government in 1966. Having these stations in place has

significantly from the Nepalese records of the same areas. Therefore, some information is

Benefits Of The Gilded Age
The late nineteenth century was a turning point for American society, economics and politics. This
era was an era of seeming prosperity and diversity. Nonetheless, there were many perspectives that
were omitted from this prosperous and wealthy view shared among the few. As a result, the late
1800s was known as the Gilded Age, named by Mark Twain as an allusion to the concept of

industry. Railroads allowed for easy access and shipment of raw materials from one edge of the
country to another. Also in support of Westward Expansion was Frederick Jackson Turner
, who
promoted Westward settlement in his Frontier Thesis. In this thesis, he claims that the West is
America s ultimate frontier, and stressed the process of settling the frontier. (Turner Thesis.)
Westward expansion and the settlement of the frontier saw the rise of the railroad industry and
American business, and also allowed for certain entrepreneurs throughout the country to take
advantage of their opportunity, despite causing harm to many small businesses that were practicing
fair business methods. (Ida

History Of The New Zealand Army Essay
QUESTION 3:
HOBBITON
History:
In 1998 was when it all started ,looking for the perfect area of land suitable for a village of
Hobbits, Peter Jackson found the Alexanders family farm while he was on a aerial search
suitable for what they needed with pristine rolling grasslands, like a slice of ancient England
(Wikipedia TLOTR), looked as though Hobbits had already begun excavations (Alan Lee ,set
decorator). After some negotiations were made with the Alexander family ,shortly after
construction begun in March 1999 transforming the landscape into the set for Hobbiton. The New
Zealand army also got involved bringing heavy machinery to build a 1.5 kilometer road from the
nearest highway to the construction site. Peter Jackson wrote: I knew Hobbiton needed to be
warm, comfortable and feel lived in. By letting the weeds grow through the cracks and establishing
hedges and little gardens a year before filming, we ended up with an incredibly real place, not just a
film set (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hobbiton_Movie_Set).So much detail went into creating the
perfect atmosphere for the 37 Hobbit holes ,gardens and even hedges. In December 1999 filming
commenced for The Lord of the Rings and lasted for three months. The set, originally built out of
untreated timber, ply and polystyrene, was never meant to last, but only for the duration that was
needed however it became a place of interest for tourist.

Differences Between Newark And Washington s 7th...
Throughout all levels of American politics incumbents running for reelection have a huge and
systematic advantage over their challengers. In this paper, the incumbency advantage will be
examined through the lens of James Jim McDermott s continual reelection in Washington s 7th
Congressional District and Sharpe James, the longtime mayor of Newark. James incumbency
advantage is especially interesting in the context of 2002 mayoral campaign, where he was nearly
unseated by Cory Booker. Both McDermott and James served their constituents for over 30 years
and developed sizable incumbency advantages, though in some cases they were used in different
ways. Looking at the differences demographically between Newark and Washington s 7th
Congressional District can be striking, but if instead the incumbency advantage is considered, the
similarities are wide reaching and fascinating. In this paper, six major elements of incumbency
advantage will be looked at: name recognition, party advantage, redistricting, constituency service,
focus on candidates and special incumbent privileges.
Before comparing the incumbency advantage, the differences between Newark and Washington s
7th congressional district have to be examined. While the incumbency advantage is very similar in
each region, the physical and demographical difference couldn t be starker. First, and most
obviously, Sharpe James was running for mayoral position of Newark but Jim McDermott was
running for the United States House of

Summary Of The Film The Leatherstocking Tales
The Leatherstocking Tales a novel series written by James Fennimore Cooper centers around the
struggles of Hawkeye, a colonial American who was adopted by Mohican Indians. Trapped
between two cultures, Hawkeye struggles to find a balance between his inherent ethical code and
society s expectations. The American Frontier provides the perfect setting to show nature as a
refuge.
Nature being a refuge can be interpreted in many different ways. One of the interpretations is seeing
where civilization and the frontier meet. In the film, The Last of the Mohicans , the Cameron family
lives in between two worlds, the world of civilization and the frontier that the Indians call home.
This family lives in harmony of both worlds, having the pleasures of civilization as well as the
struggles of the frontier. For example, the Cameron family is able to have a log cabin to live in
and plates; a pleasure of the civilized world. On the other hand, the Cameron family living on the
frontier struggles with the outside dangers such as attacks from enemy Indians in war parties.
While the Cameron family lives in both of these words, more often than not does nature reclaim
what civilization once had.
Nature always has a way to reclaim what it has lost, civilized places that have been long forgotten.
According to The Leatherstocking Talesnature and civilization have met during a war. This rude
and neglected building was one of those deserted works, which, having been thrown up on an

Research on How to Market a New Product
Marketing Research The topic for this study would be marketing. I would carry out a research
on how to market a new product in the industry. This research will bring together a worldview,
strategies, and methods of research. 1.Worldviews 1.1 Epistemology vs ontology Epistemology
is a consideration of what constitutes reality while ontology is the science or study of being
(Blaikie 1993). This research adopts constructionism as its epistemology perspective because it
is very consistent with the research nature in terms of its aims and objectives. This is because in
constructivism, this research did not describe the facts just as they actually are as in objectivity
nor did it create something new as it is consistent with subjectivity (Crotty, 2007). This research
was thus built from a serious review and analysis of all the available literature on marketing of
new brands and entry into the market by many scholars. Baike, (1993) describes epistemology as
the theory or science of the methods or grounds of knowledge of reality, the manner in which
what exists can be known . In this research we try to understand the position of my stand in
respect to the theories drawn. 1.2 Positivism vs Interpretivism There is a philosophical position in
relation to the purpose and place of research in general. On the basis of positivism researchers take
a scientific perspective when observing social behavior, with an objective analysis possible
(Travers, 2001). It is important to note that

The Satanic Verses And Hey Nostradamus
While the sacred can be reengaged, The Satanic Verses and Hey Nostradamus! depict the secular as
people become isolated from belief. By exposing hypocrisy and challenging what is deemed sacred,
The Satanic Verses and Hey Nostradamus! uncover the darkness within religion, illustrating
possible impurity in religious authority and legitimacy. Peter Mullen points out that religious texts
have a definitive authority for the communities which accept and uphold them . Such authority is
engaged with and questioned, allowing dissent from the imposed sacred. In The Satanic Verses, the
sacred is made up, religionand the name of Godconstructed to make things legitimate or
important. God becomes no more than a construction because of human greed, full of flaws and
no longer idealistic. As Gibreel makes his name by playing Ganest and Hanuman, the
description For many of his fans, the boundary separating the performer and his roles had
longago ceased to exist (17) provides evidence as to how easily one may build an identity and
allow legitimacy to it. Gibreel is made sacred, suddenly God s most celebrated incarnation (29)
though he is merely portraying religious characters in movies. He becomes God, and as he falls
ill, it is as if God himself has fallen. Undermining the sense of a fixed divine figure, people are
made sacred, ideas and texts are portrayed likewise, composed merely by humans. While writing
for Mahound the prophet, Salman is confused by how useful and well timed the

Social Allegory In Lord Of The Flies
When William Golding s Lord of the Flies is viewed as a social allegory, the characters show the
fall of mankind. Ralph, whose very name means counselor , governs over the island. For instance,

The Killer At Thurston High
In the opening of the film The Killer at Thurston High , the narrator claims that Kipland Kinkel s
life was nothing remarkable (Kirk, M. PBS Video.) After viewing the film and considering this
claim, I will admit I am bothered by it. The film itself is a documentary of a large school shooting,
which is anything but unremarkable. In addition, the events and description of Kip s life within the
video completely contradict this statement. Kip Kinkels life is filled with family, educational, and
bullying issues. In fact, he failed at nearly everything he attempted to do.
Even before the string of crime began, Kip Kinkel had failed in a plethora of other areas in his
life. For example, his relationship with his family was strained at best. ... Show more content on

Family, for example, is the most important agent of socialization. (Schaefer, 2009, p. 88). If there
are conflicts within the immediate family, a person will not learn to socialize competently. Kip s
parents did not provide the necessary attention a child needs; he felt alone and somewhat
disconnected from others as he grew older. As for education, the systems of reward and
punishment in place can cause a child who is experiencing difficulty trying to learn a new skill
feel stupid and unsuccessful. (Schaefer, 2009, p. 89). Being dyslexic with parents unwilling to
assist him caused exactly that to happen. This contributed to his feelings of depression, thinking
he was a failure, and prevented him from trying new things. While Kip s parents are not
responsible for the shooting, they certainly contributed to their child s issues. In social structure,
they had a fairly high status. It made them believe they were above things such as seeing a
psychologist, and that these types of issues couldn t happen to them. It took a lot of convincing,
especially on the father s half, to get Kip any kind of assistance. No one should ever wonder why

The Assassination that Started It All
On June 28, 1914, Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie were shot dead in Sarajevo by
Gavrilo Princip, a member of a Serbian nationalist group called the Black Hand. The Black Hand
was derived from a secret Serbian terrorist organization called the Narodna Odbrana, which worked
towards the unification of all South Slavs in an independent, sovereign country called Yugoslavia.
The Narodna Odbrana was created because South Slavs living in Serbia, as well as in Bosnia and
other Slavic provinces, felt a strong nationalistic desire to unify all the members of their cultural
group in a new country called Yugoslavia. The Black Hand s commitment to Serbian nationalism
led it to replace the Narodna Odbrana, while adopting its purpose, organization, and terrorist
philosophy. Members of the Black Hand, driven by their desire to die as martyrs, assassinated
Franz Ferdinand to quickly set the tone for a revolution meant to weaken the powerful state of
Austria Hungary and unite all South Slavs in a Yugoslavic nation.
The ideology of martyrdom and self sacrifice guided the Black Hand s decision to assassinate
Franz Ferdinand. The first notable example of this ideology was the deed of Bogdan Zerajic, a
man who fired five shots at the governor of Bosnia and then committed suicide in Sarajevo. The
Archduke s assassins possessed a personal motive for the assassination a feeling of discontent with
their own lives, and the desire to be martyrs and heroes like Zerajic.1 Two of the men

Essay On Canadian Unity
Canada Leads the World to Unity The world as humans know it is seldom at peace, and numerous
parties worldwide attempt to settle these conflicts in attempts to achieve global unity. In the past,
there have been multiple outbreaks of war, some examples being the Korean War, the Vietnam War,
and the Afghanistan War. Canada plays a crucial role in aiding war struck nations, in efforts to
mediate conflicts and terminate war, ultimately achieving peace and concord. Significant Canadian
efforts can be seen played throughout the prolonging Vietnam War, lasting of the length of
approximately twenty years. One example of this is seen when Canada gave aid to the army of
South Vietnam in order to further secure the strength of their militia. Through... Show more content

During one of the many encounters between the Capitalists and the Communists, Canadians were
successful in pushing back Chinese and North Korean troops further north of the Han River(put a
comma after Han river to say which country). Canadian troops were placed under intense fire, but in
the end, were capable of conquering Hill 619, where the Chinese were stationed. In result of this
conflict, Canadians obtained crucial information, helping South Korea develop tactics to win the
war, and achieve peace. Upon the seas, Canada dispatched multiple navy ships overseas, in order
to help with the everlasting war. Canadian ships were capable of sabotaging eight North Korean
trains. This cut off the supply of ammunition, food, and other supplies for the army, weakening
their militia, allowing easier defeat of the Communists. In terms of aerial combats, Canada as
well deployed multiple flights of aircraft into Korea, aiding both aerial combat, along with the
transportation of supplies to the South Korean military. Aerial contributions resulted in a massive
success, with no loss of any RCAF aircraft throughout the entire war. This was as well considered
by Korea as an essential role, as Canada supplied cargo and soldiers to keep the war going,
successfully aiding the push back of the Communists. Thus, it is evident

Gun Control In America Pros And Cons
The segment of American politics know as gun control came about in the 20th century with the
passing of the National Firearms Act (NFA) in 1934. Congress passed this act in response to
Prohibition era gangs and the extreme violence that they caused. With the passage of the NFA the
federal government set into motion the beginning of gun politicsin America. The history of modern
gun control has been fiercely fought in and out of the courts by parties on both sides of the issue
with several key court rulings. Gun control politics is primarily made up of two sides with several
groups on both sides. On the one side you have gun rights activists and the other you have the gun
control activists.

other gun control measures. The NFA imposed a tax on two types of firearms... Show more content

Each center designed is to engage a different aspect of child development. The large floor rug is designed as a social area. The children will gather each morning to begin the daily routine. The more time children spend together the less time it will take them to develop social skills such as speech and conversation. We will begin each day by talking about the events from the afternoon before and re cap on the activities of the day before just to see what they remember; especially from the lesson. After circle time we will head to our lesson area. This is the location where the academics will take place. At this age the children will be working on fine motor skills by coloring and using scissors. Arts and crafts may be one of the most beneficial activities in the lesson area. The students can learn to recognize letters or number using the art activities. The materials needed for this activity are: letter/number template, related pictures from magazines or other visual media i.e.: a apple; b bus, construction paper, glue/paste, and scissors. The Inheritors Before the history is recorded through the invention of writing, the prehistoric men had been showing their existence or culture through painting, tools used, and oral traditions. The end of prehistory is different for every region since the discovery of writing varies with different places. By using the oral traditions, tools, and painting, numerous philosophers claimed several ideas of how the prehistoric men lives and the cultureor social behaviors in the prehistoric period. Each law has a separate connection that when pieced together can send you into the air. The first law states that an object in motion tends to stay in motion unless an external force is applied (cesplo.phys.utk.edu). Now this applies to space craft when a rocket sits until being lifted up once the throttle of the engine is released (NASA). This is also because of aerodynamics, developed George Cayley. Aerodynamics is the pressure when the force is applied to get up off the ground, perpendicular to the surface (NASA). The second law says force equals mass times acceleration, as well ... If the product contains a substance that can be oxidized, then it is possible to determine the number of moles of that substance by titrating the sample with a solution of a strong oxidizing agent. In this lab, a solution of KMnO4, an oxidizing agent, will be standardized by titrationwith a solution containing a known concentration of iron (II) ions, (Fe+). The concentration of oxalic acid solution will be determined by titration with the MnO4 solution that had been standardized first. • 13. The Social Influences of the Visual Entertainment Media American culture has a bi directional relationship with the visual media, in which expressions in television and film manifest in society but social norms also manifest on the screen. Therefore, visual media in the United States actually has the potential to alter social norms and interactions. The televisionshows that were popular in the 1950s and early 1960s reflect the conservative family values that were popular at that time in American history. The Brady Bunch, for example, shows a happy go lucky white family, and highlights the suburban American dream. More contemporary shows show how American social values and norms have evolved since the 1950s. In Will and Grace, gay characters feature prominently to reflect the fact that Americans are coming out of the closet and staying out. There are ample examples of how television reflects social norms, while actively working to shape those norms as well. For instance, the 1980s show The Cosby Show was one in which the middle class African American family was portrayed for the first time on television. The production was a deliberate attempt to teach new values that would help eliminate the standard stereotypes of African Americans that do not fit into the white dominant culture. By producing The Cosby Show, Bill Cosby and other entertainers were actively shaping the values and worldviews of Americans. This means they happen later in life, cannot be passed down, and only affect certain cells. Hereditary mutations are inherited from parents and can continue for generations. They affect almost every cell in the body and are with the affected individual for life. With androgeninsensitivity the inheritance pattern is X linked recessive making it hereditary and passed... While there are three phenotypes for androgen insensitivity, for the purpose of this particular paper, the complete androgen insensitivity syndrome phenotype will be the one elaborated upon. The typical phenotype for someone with androgen insensitivity is hyper feminization of a male (with XY sex chromosomes) to the point where the genitalia are not masculine and may contain elementary mГјllerian structures (Gottlieb et al. 1999). The male embryo should produce a protein in the womb known as the Anti MГјllerian hormone which is facilitated by the AMH gene a cluster of proteins that ensures sex differentiation occurs in fetal development. It is entirely possible that a male embryo does not release the Anti MГјllerian hormone because the testis are not suppressing the mГјllerian structures. In turn the wolffian ducts, structures that include the epididymis, vas deferens, and seminal vesicles, only partially die. Partially is used here because there are both male and female characteristics presented by those with androgen insensitivity. AMH should interact with the Anti MГјllerian hormone receptors to target the MГјllerian ducts and kill the structures. Without the supressment rudimentary MГјllerian structures begin to present themselves, since the embryo is genetically male and has more development to do to characterize itself as such the structures do not get fully finished. These structures would hold the ability to produce female characteristics as they would need to serve their purpose in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The audience must overcome obstacles to achieve a certain goal set forth by the leader utilizing rhetorical discourse (Bitzer 9). Fundraising provides one way for South African eco tourism companies to maintain their business and promote more jobs for local people. In order for fundraising to yield the best results, leaders must be aware that there is no reason to apologize for asking for a gift to a worthwhile cause (Rosso 6). Essentially, leaders must have confidence in their cause, whether it includes the preservation of South Africa s wildlife, the protection of its animals, or the promotion of employment among members of the community. This positive attitude encourages tourists to donate more money or time to the companies, aiding in achieving the goal s fulfillment. Charles Dickens, the most renowned social commentator of his time, criticized the ills of society as he commiserates with those who were affected the most by social and economical abuses. According to the article Charles Dickens as Social Commentator and Critic published on the Victorian Web (www.victorianweb.org/authors/dickens/diniejko.html), Dickens was not only very successful in exposing what was wrong with society, but also in exposing the ills of the utilitarian theory which at the time rejected the human imagination or fancy. Later, battle honors were added to the colours, which made them even more significant and were revered even more by members of the regiment. The colours are never destroyed capriciously anymore. When they get too old and worn out to be used or displayed as the uit standard, they are moved to museums until they moulder into dust. However, in modern armies, if the colours are in danger of being captured by the enemy, there are standing orders for them to be destroyed. It is for this reason and the advent of modern weapons, and subsequent changes in tactics, colours are no longer carried into battle. However, they are still used at formal events and ceremonies. The word guidon derives from the Italian guidone meaning guide or marker and/or the Middle French corruption guyd hommes, hence it is the focus for soldiers in battle. The significance of the guidon is that it represents the unit and its commanding officer. When the commander is in, his or her guidon is displayed for everyone to see. The settlement of the West allowed for the rise of the railroad industry, both private and government operated, which was one of the stepping stones in the steep quest for industry. Railroads allowed for easy access and shipment of raw materials from one edge of the country to another. Also in support of Westward Expansion was Frederick Jackson Turner , who promoted Westward settlement in his Frontier Thesis. In this thesis, he claims that the West is America s ultimate frontier, and stressed the process of settling the frontier. (Turner Thesis.) In this paper, the incumbency advantage will be examined through the lens of James Jim McDermott s continual reelection in Washington s 7th Congressional District and Sharpe James, the longtime mayor of Newark. James incumbency advantage is especially interesting in the context of 2002 mayoral campaign, where he was nearly unseated by Cory Booker. Both McDermott and James served their constituents for over 30 years and developed sizable incumbency advantages, though in some cases they were used in different ways. Looking at the differences demographically between Newark and Washington s 7th Congressional District can be striking, but if instead the incumbency advantage is considered, the similarities are wide reaching and fascinating. In this paper, six major elements of incumbency advantage will be looked at: name recognition, party advantage, redistricting, constituency service, focus on candidates and special incumbent privileges. Before comparing the incumbency advantage, the differences between Newark and Washington s 7th congressional district have to be examined. • 45. Summary Of The Film The Leatherstocking Tales The Leatherstocking Tales a novel series written by James Fennimore Cooper centers around the struggles of Hawkeye, a colonial American who was adopted by Mohican Indians. Trapped between two cultures, Hawkeye struggles to find a balance between his inherent ethical code and society s expectations. The American Frontier provides the perfect setting to show nature as a refuge. Nature being a refuge can be interpreted in many different ways. One of the interpretations is seeing where civilization and the frontier meet. In the film, The Last of the Mohicans , the Cameron family lives in between two worlds, the world of civilization and the frontier that the Indians call home. This family lives in harmony of both worlds, having the pleasures of civilization as well as the struggles of the frontier. For example, the Cameron family is able to have a log cabin to live in and plates; a pleasure of the civilized world. On the other hand, the Cameron family living on the frontier struggles with the outside dangers such as attacks from enemy Indians in war parties. While the Cameron family lives in both of these words, more often than not does nature reclaim what civilization once had. Nature always has a way to reclaim what it has lost, civilized places that have been long forgotten. According to The Leatherstocking Talesnature and civilization have met during a war. This research will bring together a worldview, strategies, and methods of research. 1.Worldviews 1.1 Epistemology vs ontology Epistemology is a consideration of what constitutes reality while ontology is the science or study of being (Blaikie 1993). This research adopts constructionism as its epistemology perspective because it is very consistent with the research nature in terms of its aims and objectives. This is because in constructivism, this research did not describe the facts just as they actually are as in objectivity nor did it create something new as it is consistent with subjectivity (Crotty, 2007). This research was thus built from a serious review and analysis of all the available literature on marketing of new brands and entry into the market by many scholars. Baike, (1993) describes epistemology as the theory or science of the methods or grounds of knowledge of reality, the manner in which what exists can be known . In this research we try to understand the position of my stand in respect to the theories drawn. 1.2 Positivism vs Interpretivism There is a philosophical position in relation to the purpose and place of research in general. On the basis of positivism researchers take a scientific perspective when observing social behavior, with an objective analysis possible (Travers, 2001). It is important to note that ... The Assassination that Started It All On June 28, 1914, Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie were shot dead in Sarajevo by Gavrilo Princip, a member of a Serbian nationalist group called the Black Hand. The Black Hand was derived from a secret Serbian terrorist organization called the Narodna Odbrana, which worked towards the unification of all South Slavs in an independent, sovereign country called Yugoslavia. The Narodna Odbrana was created because South Slavs living in Serbia, as well as in Bosnia and other Slavic provinces, felt a strong nationalistic desire to unify all the members of their cultural group in a new country called Yugoslavia. The Black Hand s commitment to Serbian nationalism led it to replace the Narodna Odbrana, while adopting its purpose, organization, and terrorist philosophy. Members of the Black Hand, driven by their desire to die as martyrs, assassinated Franz Ferdinand to quickly set the tone for a revolution meant to weaken the powerful state of Austria Hungary and unite all South Slavs in a Yugoslavic nation. The ideology of martyrdom and self sacrifice guided the Black Hand s decision to assassinate Franz Ferdinand. The first notable example of this ideology was the deed of Bogdan Zerajic, a man who fired five shots at the governor of Bosnia and then committed suicide in Sarajevo.
