Essay on W15 Commonwealth Stadium Project Assignment
Commonwealth Stadium Group Project W15
The Bolton Construction Company is preparing a bid to build the new 56,000 seat
Commonwealth Stadium in Toronto. The construction must start September 4, 2014
and be completed in time for the 2017 Commonwealth Games. The contract contains
a penalty clause of $100,000.00 per day of delay beyond June 1st, 2017.
At a recent management meeting Charlie Musselman, the president of the company,
expressed optimism at winning the contract and revealed that the company could net
as much as $2 million on the project. He also said that if they are successful, the
prospects for future projects are quite good since there are quite a few major
stadiums in Canada that will need replacing in the next 25 years. ... Show more

After the concourse, upper bowl and temporary warehouse are completed, work can
start simultaneously on building the luxury boxes (90 days), installing the seats (140
days), installing the Jumbo Scoreboard (30 days), and installing the stadium
infrastructure (120 days) which includes: bathrooms, lockers, restaurants, dressing
rooms, media rooms, etc. Once the seats are installed then the steel canopy can be
constructed (75 days) followed by the installation of the lighting and sound systems
(30 days).
The retractable roof represents the most significant technical challenge to the
project. Building the roof track supports (80 days) can begin after the lower
concrete bowl is constructed. After this, the dimensions of the roof can be
finalized (10 days) and the construction of the roof at a separate site can begin (180
days). After the roof supports are completed then the roof tracks can be installed (90
days). Once the roof tracks are installed and the roof is completed and trucked in (5
days), installed and made operational (90 days). After all the construction activities
are completed, it will take 20 days to inspect the stadium.

In privacy and Internet Ethics , Deborah G. Johnson presents arguments designed to
show the positives and negatives of the increased capacity of technology to gather,
store and manipulate information. Which argument do you think are stronger?
The positives of increased capacity of technology to store, gather and manipulate
information outweigh the negatives.
Positives
1.Johnson states that information technology has made it possible to gather detailed
information regarding various individuals to an extent that was initially impossible.
In the contemporary society, the state, federal and the local governments are able to

The major drawbacks with regards to the extensive use of information technology are
related to the use of privacy. Johnson asserts that even though it might be true that
individuals often trade off piracy for what appears as small benefits, it is not clear
how the behavior ought to be interpreted. The point of view that individuals readily
provide personal information does not necessarily mean that they do not value
privacy. These people might be naГЇve and in some cases uninformed regarding the
choice that they make.
2.Johnson asserts that surveillances that are further promoted by increased use of
technology for gathering data undermine the citizen s ability and potential for
democratic citizenships. As such, living in a panopticon implies that persons have
limited space of independently developing themselves.
3.Concerns regarding the loss of personal privacy were the premier public issues to
gain significant public attention during the period when computers were initially
developed, and personal information database started to be used by corporations
4.Erroneous information can to a greater extent affects one s life.
In your view, is there a way to embrace the benefits of technology without risking the

Stress And Oxidative Stress
Aerobic organisms need molecular oxygen (O2) for respiration or oxidation of
nutrients to obtain energy. There are some reactive by products of cellular
respiration, derived from molecular oxygen, that are generated continuously in cells
grown aerobically, such as hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) superoxide anion radical (O2
), and the highly reactive hydroxyl radicals (OH).These reactive oxygenspecies (ROS)
are essential for various functions such as homeostasis and cell signaling but an
imbalance in favor of reactive oxygen species results in oxidative stress (OS)
(Kashmiri et al.,2014). Oxidative stress (OS) result in interference in the functioning
of biological systems that maintain levels of environmentally produced reactive
oxygen species (ROS), by readily detecting and detoxifying them (Lucana et al.,
2012). Living organisms have adopted mechanisms to protect themselves against
oxidative stress, by producing enzymes such as catalase and superoxide dismutase,
small proteins like thioredoxin and glutaredoxin, and molecules such as glutathione (
Cabiscol et al.,1999). Metallo enzymes such as superoxide dismutases are the
primary antioxidant enzymes that protect cells from oxidative damage of superoxide
radicals, by catalyzing dismutation of superoxide (O2 ) to hydrogen peroxideand
oxygen. Superoxide dismutases, as name suggests dismutes superoxide. Dismutation
reaction is that in which two equal but opposite reactions occur on two separate
molecules. SOD takes two
Chinese Philosophy And The Mandate Of Heaven
Chinese Philosophy has been dominated by Humanistic ideology since the dawn of
documented Chinese history. Chinese Humanistic philosophy aimed to profess the
unity of man and Heaven as well as man and nature, unlike humanism that amines
to discredit or deny a supreme power. This philosophic idea developed over time
through the development of social and historical change. Following the conquest
of Shang dynasty by the Chou in 1111 B.C., the Mandate of Heaven produced by
the Chou, held a doctrine to justify right to rule outside of birth or blood right.
(TSait wing.) The doctrine created in the Mandate of Heaven, states man s destiny
mortal and immortal depended not on the existence of a soul before birth or death
nor upon the whim of a spiritual force, but upon his own good words and good deed

Before humanistic movement one s ability to rule or move up depended on
birthrights alone. Those born in royal families became rulers, whether capable or not,
though Humanism focuses on the fact that people are born at an equal level, and
their behaviors during their life time should dictate their place in society and the
afterlife. Wing Tsit Chang summarized this perfectly that, Human personal power was
supplanted by human virtue and human effort, and man, through his moral deeds,
could now control his own destiny (Chang 3). The development of humanism majorly
changed social, cultural, and political aspects of Chinese life styles. This paper will

Humanistic philosophy, though drew different conclusions as to the ethicial

Inca Narrative
Our next step was to walk half a mile up a set of worn out and weathered stairs, this
was very tiring and I almost tripped a couple of times. Looking to my right and I
saw large number of large mountains that were densely covered with jungle
vegetation. I looked down and noticed the clouds below me. Our altitude was very
high because I noticed the air getting colder. We finally reached the top of the
mountain. Our guide showed us around the ruins. Walking around, I saw the unique
arch architecture of the doorways. There was a carving of an eagle on a circular
stone on the ground. I wondered how the Incas could have carved the stones
perfectly to sit on top of each other without cement. Some were stacked up to 10 feet
high. There were some Incan... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Our guide pointed to an ancient rock that was said to clear the mind of whoever
touched it. Immediately I went to it and set both hands on the rock. My nausea
went away and I felt well again. All the tired feeling I had also gone from me. I
could feel energy spring in my body. I felt like I wanted to run a mile! Our tour
continued as our guide showed us to a large, flat field where the Incas did their
celebrations and rituals. There were llamas grazing on the field. One llama walked
up to me and sniffed me. The llama was brown with black legs. I looked into the
llama s face and it looked like it was smiling! From there, I walked to the edge of
the mountain and looked down. There was a steep cliff with only jungle vegetation
at the bottom. At the bottom there was a little river with a rope bridge to cross it.
The rope bridge was 100 feet from the ground and didn t look very sturdy. I wouldn
t cross that, I mumbled. I walked down the Inca Temple and out the Incan houses
glancing up one last time at the remains of the mighty city. I thought of what used to
be up there and how glorious it was. Turning I saw a native Incan ancestor herding a
llama herding a down a path. As I walked into the bus, I imagined how great this race
of people was. There skills and talents made them the richest people in that continent.
I hoped that my country would use their talents to help innovate the future and make
this world a better
The Way Of Life Has Forever Changed
The way of life has forever changed. Living like our parents did is not an option for
the technology thirsty current economy. We have become so dependent on
technology and its advances that without it, we simply would not be able to
function. If every computer and computer system suddenly crashed or stopped
working it would be pure chaos, every nuclear facility would become
uncontrollable, and there would be numerous toxic meltdowns, airplanes would fall
from the sky, trains and cars and other forms of transportation would be unusable,
communications would stop, electricity would go out, people would die (Dilard,
2014). These systems are so vital to the way we function as a society that to think of
life without them is comical. Networks and systems are so vital to business and
society that special positions and roles are needed to ensure they are maintained and
operate. Network administrator and system administrators are more important and
demanding roles than an average user would think. Users can go weeks, possibly
even months without having to phone their administrators for help, but this is not
due to no issues, this is due to administrators actively doing their job. Networks are
only as good as their admins perform, the overall structure and integrity of a network
lies in the hands of network and system administrators. Without these unsung heroes
patching and protecting our digital frontier, our networks would be susceptible to any
number of cyber attacks
Ethnic Assimilation From The United States
It is expected that ultimately there will be a loss of ethnic distinctiveness for
immigrants in the U.S., meaning the lack of attachment to the country of origin.
(Golash Boza, 2006) It is argued that all ethnic distinctiveness will no longer exist by
the seventh or eighth generations. Before exploring the influence of foreign born vs.
U.S. born parents on their children s cultural assimilation; the different theories of
assimilation will be explored. The idea of Assimilation came about in the early 20th
century. (Golash Boza, 2006) Assimilation is surrounded by two theories, the first
that all immigrants will assimilate sooner or later and that the generational status of
the individual is one of the main factors in determining the... Show more content on

(Haller, 2011) All of these factors influence cultural assimilation; some of these in
addition to others will be explored when joined with the comparison of cultural
assimilation with the children of foreign born and U.S. born parents.
Ethnic Identification
Ethnic distinctiveness is expected to eventually disappear, when it comes to third or
fourth generation children. (Golash Boza, 2006) Ethnic distinctiveness is directly
related to ethnic identification and how a person sees themselves. (Golash Boza,
2006) In society there are African Americans, Asian Americans, Latino(a) Americans
and Americans. The question of losing the hyphenation and just calling yourself
American effect on integrating yourself into the American culturewas raised and if so
does calling yourself American rather than Latino(a) American mean that you have
completely lost your ethnic identity? Ethnic identification plays a big role on cultural
assimilation into the American culture. A survey was done to explore the relationship
between ethnic identification and cultural assimilation and how it differs between the
children of foreign born and U.S. born parents.
In a National Latino Survey done in 2002, surveyors asked respondents to describe
themselves using different terms
Memory And Imagination
Memory and imagination are central to Brian Friels play, Dancing at Lughnasa and
Emma Donoghues 2010 novel, Room; However, as memory provides substance to
imagination and vice versa there can often be a blurring of lines between memory and
imagination, shuffling events and shuffling reality. This overlap between memoryand
imagination will be the main focus of this essay.
According to Pierre Nora, memory can be multiple, yet also specific, collective,
plural and individual; it only accommodates facts that suit it and nourishes the
recollections that might be particular or symbolic (Nora 9). Memory is life, borne by
living societies founded in its name. It remains in permanent evolution, open to the
dialectic of remembering and forgetting, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Room is the story of five year old, Jack and his Ma, who live in an eleven by eleven
shed, named Room . Unaware of the truths of life, Jack tells the story of living and
escaping room from entirely from his own perspective. This story centralises John
Milton s idea that the mind is its own self and can make a haven out of a hell (John
Milton s a Paradise Lost: A sourcebook 92). In a truly grim situation, we enter the
world Ma has created through Jacks own eyes. As a child, Jack knows so much
less than an adult, allowing him to guess and imagine so much (The Irish Times
2010). Knowing nothing of the outside world beyond fantasies of the television
screen, with the help of Ma s imagination, Jack presents the small space of Room as
a world full of love, inanimate friends and fun. In the first half of the novel, readers
are invited into Jacks world inside Room, through his innocent eyes, everything from
counting one hundred cereal and waterfall milk to giving Plant a cup of water and
eating with Meltedy Spoon creates a world full of imagination, love and excitement

Physics Of Volleyball
The Nature of Physical Activity
1.There are numerous fitness factors that are required for successful performance in
the sport of volleyball. Using the data from Figure 1, identify and analyse three
major fitness factors utilised in the game of volleyball. When are these most likely to
be used in a match?
Power is a crucial fitness factor in the game of volleyball. Upper body power is
necessary in order to execute common volleyball moves such as a serve or block but
also higher velocity shots, for example, a spike which travel at an average of 112
128km/hr. However, to even have the chance to perform a shot such as a spike or
block, the player must have enough lower body power to jump and reach above the
net.

Recovery As a team expectation, players will have to take an ice bath after each
training and then stretch and roll out their muscles with a foam roller to maximise
their muscle recovery by our next session.
Specificity I am also going to identify each of my players weaker attributes and
create a training plan to improve it. For example, if an athlete is struggling on their

Japanese culture factors influenced the disclosure of financial information
Introduction
Japan is an unique oriental country in many aspects, especially in politics and
economy, both western practices and traditional nationalism are coexisted in this
country. The period 1890 1940 was just followed the Meiji restoration, and was
typical in the history of Japan, at that time, Japan was on the way from a feudal
country to a capitalistic country, called modernization. Many western practices were
being more and more adopted, however, at the same time, traditional rules still had
strong influences in Japan. Under this background, this report will discuss the
Japanese cultural factors during 1890 1940 that influenced the disclosure ... Show

Hand in hand, the zaibatsu and government guided the nation, borrowing technology
from the West. Japan gradually took control of much of Asia s market for
manufactured goods, beginning with textiles. The economy structure became very
mercantilist, importing raw materials and exporting finished products a reflection of
Japan s relative poverty in raw materials.[2]
Japan emerged from the Tokugawa Meiji transition as the first Asian industrialized
nation. Domestic commercial activities and limited foreign trade had met the
demands for material culture in the Tokugawa period, but the modernized Meiji era
had radically different requirements. From the beginning, the Meiji rulers embraced
the concept of a market economy and adopted British and North American forms of
free enterprise capitalism. The private sector in a nation blessed with an abundance of
aggressive entrepreneurs welcomed such change.
Economic reforms included a unified modern currency based on the yen, banking,
commercial and tax laws, stock exchanges, and a communications network.
Establishment of a modern institutional framework conducive to an advanced
capitalist economy took time but was completed by the 1890s. By this time, the
government had largely relinquished direct control of the modernization process,
primarily for budgetary reasons. Many of the former daimyo, whose pensions had
been paid in a lump sum, benefited greatly
The Apple Shell s Value Increases As The Lack Of...
Task 1
a)
In this diagram, we see that the Apple Shell s value increases as the lack of
availability makes it more scarce.
b)
This problem could be solved by increasing the total availability of the Apple Shell
product. This problem could also be solved by increasing the initial price of the
Apple Shell, therefore reducing the demand of the product.
This diagram shows that with a higher starting point the equilibrium point was
reached sooner and therefore eased the supply problem that the initial product launch
had.
c)
Price equilibrium is found where supply and demand are equal. This is the point
where both sellers and buyers are happy with the price and quantity (B.Bisardi).
For example in the electronic market in 2007, the entertainment company Nintendo
was struggling to keep up demand with the sales of the Nintendo Wii. It had wanted
to sell seventeen million units, but was only able to sell fourteen point five units due
to supply issues. (Cleland, 2007).This shows that while demand is high, Nintendo
still had problems with its supply and therefore at the time Nintendo had not found its
price equilibrium at that time. Which goes to show how the price equilibrium is very
difficult to find and in such a fast moving industry, it is even more difficult.
d) Price elasticity of demand (PED or Ed) is a measure used in economics to show the
responsiveness, or elasticity, of the quantity demanded of a good or service to a
change in its price (Bisardi Sung,

Kaolin is very easy to refine and produce due to the abundant available quantities of
its unrefined form, kaolinite. And since kaolin is inert in its clinical form it does
not cause an immune response when introduced into a biological system, however
it is not biodegradable so it must be removed after use (Bennett et al., 2014;
Trabattoni et al., 2010). Kaolin has been an attractive hemostatic agent due to its
ability to form clots and being inexpensive to produces, however a major drawback
is that it does not work when the host is in a state of coagulopathy.
Chitosan:
Chitosan is a polysaccharide made of polymers of ОІ (1 4) linked D glucosamine and
N acetyl D glucosamine (NAG), and is produced from a component of the
exoskeleton of crustacean shells called chitin. Chitosan s hemostatic effects are due to
its amino groups reacting with the membranes of circulating cells in the host s blood,
leading to eventual clot formation that occurs independently of the innate coagulation
cascade. The positively charged residues present on chitosan attract the negatively
charged cell membranes of erythrocytes and thrombocytes, creating a cross linkage of
said cells and then the formation of a thrombus. Chitosan is also biodegradable and is
broken down inside the host. It also induces an immune response that activates
macrophages and stimulates cell proliferation leading to faster wound healing
Universal Truths in Japanese Literature
Universal Truths in Japanese Literature
Arts, Culture and Literature
In The Crane Wife and Princess Hase, both short stories in the book Tales of Japan
Illustrated Folk Tales, Fairy Tales and Mythology by Birgit Amadoi there are
examples of Universal truths. The Universal Truths such as Good vs. Evil, Greed vs.
Generosity, and Outer Strength vs. Inner Strength affect the people of Japan, and
reflects on how the live their life, and their outlook on the world.
The universal truth of Good vs. Evil reflects Japanese culture through, the history,
the people, their outlook on life, and their actions. Evil is usually perceived as the
opposite of good. In history it is to be known that Good always conquers evil. Every

This is an example of God being on the side of good. While giving birth to Hase he
mother passed away. The Father got remarried, and had another child. Hase now lives
with her Stepmother, Father, and brother. Her brother is the son of her step mother.
The step mother became very jealous of Hase. She was loved by everyone because of
her poetry. Hase was a good person, so good karma came to her. Hase s stepmother
plans to kill her with poison. Her plan went wrong, and she killed her only son. The
stepmother blamed Hase for her loss. This is the second example of karma. Hase s
stepmother was jealous of her which is a sin, and bad karma came to her. She tried to
kill Hase and bad came back to her. This is an example of Good vs. evil when good,
defeats evil.
In both of these short stories it explains for Good vs. Evil is connected to karma.
When you do good things good karma will come back to you. When you do bad,
horrible things will happen to you in return. The example of Yuhei not obeying his
wife s orders is an example of Evil, which resulted in him having a horrible life.
When he let the crane free and him being bless with a wife was an example of
good karma. This shows that one person can make good and bad actions. In the
second story Hase s stepmother trying to killer her, resulting in her only sons death
is an example of bad Karma. She took the evil path and bad things happened to her.

Life Extension And Its Meaning For Life
Life Extension and It s Meaning for Life Aside from having ideas of what life is and
how it came to be, another idea to discuss is whether or not can we redefine human
life through life extension. It has been observed in tests on organisms simpler than
humans, that the process of aging is plastic, or is capable of being influenced. An
example of the observation comes from numerous tests with mice in which the mice s
telomeres, or the ends of their chromosomes that protect the chromosomes from wear,
are lengthened or shortened. Lengthening these telomeres using their variation of the
protein, telomerase, allowed for the mice to have longer lifespans. Keeping in mind
that mice have been observed to have increased lifespan due to their treatment with
telomerase, such method of life extensionis currently not feasible with humans. This
is due to the fact that treating humans with human telomerase leads to a higher
probability of having cancer. Thus, other ways of extending lifespan are being
developed, one way in particular being through regenerative medicine or regenerative
therapies. The strategy to combat agingto length human lifespan with regenerative
medicine comes from the theory that aging is caused by the accumulation of cell
damage throughout a human s life. This damage results from biochemical accidents
that occur surprisingly frequently in cells throughout the body. An example of such a
mishap would be the common event that waste produced by mitochondria

Least Industrialized Countries By Neocolonialism
I would explain these geographical trends and how most of my clothes come from
the least industrialized countries by neocolonialism. Neocolonialism is when the
most powerful industrialized nations and countries like the United States use their
political and economic power to dominant and use the resources of the least
industrialized countries and nations. Moreover, a lot of my clothes came from least
industrialized countries because the United States can exploit theses countries for
cheap resources and labor. Since they can benefit from cheap labor and resources,
they can also benefit from a lower cost per item made. Thus, the United States saves a
lot of money and resources from taking their production to the least industrialized
countries.

target consumer perception by slowly removing the word Classic that will
eventually result in a change in buying behavior. Using the J.N.D. concept, Coca
Cola could make improvements in their product and to market it in a different
light, which would lead to an increase in sales. 2.2 In the first major change since
the 1940s, Heinz replaced the pickle (preserved) that had appeared on its Ketchup
product (right under the words tomato ketchup ) with a tomato (fresh), above a new
slogan, Grown not Made. 2.2.1 Reasons for the focus on freshness The major
change in the label of Heinz tomato started with ketchup consumers having the
perception that its ketchup is full of artificial or potentially artificial flavours. This
gives rise to a need in redesigning the label by replacing the pickle with a tomato on
a vine. At the same time, the word tomato was enlarged within the tomato ketchup
designation, and Heinz also came up with a new slogan, Grown not Made . (Refer to
Annex C) The two sensory receptors used are the eyes and the mouth. Where sight is
the most important sensory input, Heinz uses the various positive stimuli to
strategically make changes to evoke positive emotions among consumers. The
perception of the taste of the consumer will be seen as sweeter and fresher without

merupakan suatu ideologi yang melekat pada masyarakat yang dikonstruksikan
secara sosial dan kultural sehingga menimbulkan perbedaan fungsi, peran, dan
tanggung jawab berdasarkan jenis kelamin.

anatomis (Echols Hassan Shadily, 2000 : 265). Menurut bahasa, kata gender diartikan
sebagai the grouping of words into masculine, feminine, and neuter, according as they
are regarded as male, female or without sex yang artinya gender adalah kelompok kata

The Adventure Of The Speckled Band
The Adventure of the Speckled Band In The Adventure of the Speckled Band by Sir
Arthur Conan Doyle, Sherlock Holmes is a detective that is attempting to resolve
the mystery in which Helen Stoner s sister mysteriously died on the night before her
wedding. Dr. Watson is the loyal sidekick of Sherlock Holmes. Helen Stoner is a
frightened woman who has come to Sherlock Holmesfor assistance. Lastly, Dr.
Roylott is Helen s stepfather who has gone to jail numerous times due to homicide
and other criminal activities. The story takes place at Helen Stoner s house, Stoke
Moran, in April 1883. It is initiated when Helen Stoner arrives at Sherlock Holmes
house early in the morning; discussing how her sister Julia has mysteriously died.
Sherlock decided Helen s difficult situation was a serious matter, and Sherlock made
plans to inspect the house Julia died in. Dr. Roylott was tracking Helen down when
she visited Sherlock, and threatened Holmes to stay away from her, increasing the
suspicion of the mystery. Sherlock Holmes feels that Dr. Roylott could be at the
center of the mystery, due to the fact that he is an aggressive, abusive, and violent
man. After talking to Helen, Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson travel over to Stoke
Moran. In the beginning, Sherlock attempts to break through the locks, confirming an
intruder could not possibly obtain access to the house during the night. Sherlock

Emergency Response Vehicles
The right of way for South Carolina emergency response vehicles is a law that
should be followed by all the citizens in South Carolina. However, some citizens
ignore or do not realize that by law they need to pull to the right side of the road
when an emergency response vehicle is coming towards them. On the other hand,
when obtaining a driver s license, how could one not know the law when it is in
the driver s manual? The argument gives three reasons on why people should pull
to the right. Drivers should pull to the right when an emergency responder
approaches other vehicles for reasons such as: accidents, a medical crisis, or
possible deaths. A driver who fails to merge to the right can slow the response time.
In a crisis, all seconds count.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If citizens gave emergency responders a clear right of way without any interference,
then lives could be saved in a timely matter. This will allow roads to be hazard free
for emergency responders. People who do not follow this law have no idea how much
of a difference it would be if this law was not in place. We have laws for a reason. If
citizens would obey the laws the roads will be safer and lives could be saved. The
laws are there for a purpose and that is to keep all the citizens in South Carolina
safe. When a citizen sees emergency response vehicles they should be polite and
pull to the right. Right of Way is place to save lives and help
What Is The Comedy Of Error In Tartuffe
William Shakespeare. And in your play Tartuffe, the comedy of error is centered
around the initial misperception of Tartuffe s character by Orgon and Madame
Parnelle. The way I see it, they should have easily been able to see the truth behind
Tartuffe s masquerade. Throughout the whole plot, Tartuffe is constantly
weaseling his way into Orgon s favor and then ends up betraying Orgon through
the use of blackmail towards the end of the play. Despite receiving several
warnings from all of the other family members in the play, Orgon and Madame
Parnelle still continue to think that Tartuffe is a religious priest who has the
family s best interest at heart. Its s like they both have thick rose colored glasses
on and can t see Tartuffe for the religious hypocrite that he truly is. (MoliГЁre and
Shakespeare look up from their plates and make eye contact with one another.
Then, a slight smile begins to emerge upon their faces as they realize that they are
not as different from one another as they had previously thought. Then, both
MoliГЁre and Shakespeare look down at their plates and simultaneously take a bite
of their chicken teriyaki.) MoliГЁre. However, because of the expansiveness within
your episodic structure, it appears to me that almost all of your characters face this
initial misperception of their desires or identities in some sort of way, shape, or
form. Even Malvolio, who seems to be the most level headed character, cannot seem

Analyzing William Cullen Bryant s Thanatopsis
Question 1: William Cullen Bryant s Thanatopsis fits the definition of Romanticism
as it expresses the ideas of individualism and nature. Bryant writes And, lost each
human trace, surrend ring up / Thine individual being, shalt though go / To mix
forever with the elements (24 26). In this, the author writes about individualism by
stating that whenever a death occurs, one returns to their true self emotionally and
physically as well. This is because, as Bryant states, one will return to the Earth To
mix forever with the elements. Romanticismis also depicted into this poem by using
extensive diction to capture the full extent of nature s beauty. Bryant states that, The

Bryant writes, Go forth, under the open sky, and list / To Nature s teaching, while
from all around‒ / Earth and her waters, and the depths of air‒ / Comes a still
voice (14 17). This quote refers back to the basic belief of the goodness of the
natural world in this: while one has their highs and lows of life, nature will always
be there to provide a still voice. At the same time, it motivates the reader to go
beyond his or her own senses. Bryan also expresses the belief that all nature is
important through lines 29 30 when he says that The oak / Shall send his roots

a corpse in the ground, but he brings back its contribution to the rest of nature with

Rhetorical Analysis Of Abraham Lincoln s First Inaugural...
Abraham Lincoln had his first inaugural address on March 4, 1861. This was
directed to a specific audience. He had an important message to send to this
audience. Not only did have an important message but Lincoln had an interesting way
of delivering this message. In doing so he did not choose an effective rhetorical
strategy. There are many reasons to why it was not effective. Anyway, Abraham
Lincolnwas speaking to the whole country but, it was mainly directed to the south. It
was directed to the south because the south believed that slaverywas a right whereas
the north believed it was wrong. He states One section of our country believes
slavery is a right and out to be extended, while the other believes sit is wrong and
ought not to be extended. This shows the audience that he speaking to. To this
audience he wanted them to mainly get two important messages. Lincoln states
Physically speaking, we can not separate. We can not remove our respective
sections from each other nor build an impassable wall between them. A husband
and wife may be divorced and go out of the presence and beyond the reach of each
other, but the different parts of our country cannot do this This means that Lincoln
wants to stay united as a nation. Not only that but he wanted the south to get
another message. He states You have no oath registered in heaven to destroy the
Government, while I shall have the most solemn one to preserve, protect, and
defend it. This is saying that if they do not stay united as a country the country will
fall apart and he will have no choice but to start violence, which is how the civil
war started. Lastly, the way he delivered this is he shows how serious this topic
was with the tone he was using. The message he sent to the south was based on
logos. Logos is the logical appeal, which is the way he decided to convince the
south to stay united and not bring any more slaves in. In doing so he uses many
strategies. For example, he states And might it not be well at the same time to
provide by law for the enforcement of that clause in the Constitution which
guarantees that the citizens of each State shall be entitled to all privileges and
immunities of citizens in the several States ? This
Persuasive Essay On Animal Euthanasia
Animal Euthanasia
Animals are reliable, many full of love, true in their affections, predictable in their
actions, grateful and loyal. Difficult standards for people to live up to. This was said
by Alfred A. Montapert the author of many inspirational novels. I imagine many of
you do not have a clue what the word Animal Euthanasia actually means. According
to the College of Veterinary Medicine means Euthanasia is a Greek term meaning
good death . In this context, its objectives are met when death is induced which
causes no pain or distress to an animal. Although this is not always the case in many
different situations. Oftentimes there are complications in this horrible procedure.
Many of these complications cause pain and agony in these poor, helpless creatures.
The purpose of this plan is to relieve these animals that are in pain for different
reasons. This gives the innocent animal the opposite of what is thought to happen.
Many people believe that this a peaceful way to end an animal s suffering, although
many times the animal ends up dying a slow painful death because the medication
did not work the way it is supposed to. Animal Euthanasia should be illegal because
the animal can suffer when the point of it is to end their suffering, animals don t
deserve to die, and some of the animals don t need to be put down. One reason that
Animal Euthanasia should be illegal is that the animals can suffer when they are
trying to end their pain. Animal Euthanasia is a

this made me feel welcomed and happy. For example, during the expression art

mentioned she was involved in a glee club and the facilitator recalled that remark and
made a comment to the participant. Another example is the other facilitator made a
conscious effort to call each participant by their name and thank them for
commenting. After the sessions, the participants comment on how they felt heard and
connected to the facilitator which increased their participation level.

As a participant and an observer, I did not notice either facilitator link the key
outcomes to a peer reviewed research paper nor did they describe the process of their
research strategy. I never thought of stating the research component into my leisure
education presentations. After reviewing the rubric for TREC 3100, I realize it
would be beneficial to support the education session with research.
Effective Training Program Essay
Exercise is done by majority of people in order to improve one s health and fitness.
Everyone is able to improve their own health and fitness by exercising in order to
achieve proficient physical abilities. Not only can an individual perform and commit
to particular activities for personal health, but also purposes such as sport
performance, body size, strength and conditioning, etc; all of which can be achieved
from specific exercises performed consistently with the appropriate nutrition and rest
in place. Athletes typically do exercisein order to become proficient at their own
fitness and specified skills of their sport. Thus if all individuals perform exercise, we
can refer even those that do not compete at sports as being athletes in respective of

tasks at a certain level. An effective training program is essential in order to

This report will examine the structure of each program, and their major benefits and

The first training program is called periodization. This program divides the training
process into specific phases or mesocycles, over a certain amount of time, focusing
the manipulation of training variables such as loads, sets, and repetitions, in order to
maximize training adaptations. Selye s General Adaptation Syndrome was the classic
understanding of periodization, stating that systems will adapt to any stressors

Garden Threads
Garden hoses are very basic items that nearly all homeowners and gardeners need
yet very little attention is usually paid to them. Going to the local discount store
and buying the cheapest one may or may not be the best option. With hoses you
usually get what you pay for, and a cheapie may not last long at all. I consider them
essentially disposable hoses, although I do recycle them for other purposes as
well. Length is one very basic consideration. How long do you need to reach? Is it
100 feet or merely 15 feet? Of course they come in many different lengths, and you
can connect them together for more reach. A hose that is too short won t work well
and a hose that is barely long enough will be a hassle as it will need to be perfectly
straightened
African Americans And Its Impact On Society
African Americans have been through so much since being uprooted from their
home in Africa. Most people do not understand what happened to African
Americans and they understand what they had to go through to be where they are
today. It went from being kings in the comfort of their home to being thrown on a
boat packed like sardines to be forced to work in the fields. The trip was a massacre
itself because many did not make it due to the treatment from others. African
Americans have always been treated like outsiders and it took many people to sway
the perception of others to be where they are today. Through all the ups and downs
African Americans persevered and made it out the struggle. African Americans has
always been treated badly all groups of people and they always looked down on
African Americans. Throughout the history involving African American, it showed the
constant inferiority treatment. African Americans were slaves years ago, people
still look at blacks as less important than other people. Slavery has a huge impact on
our society today because people are still bias and unfair towards African Americans,
most African Americans are still living in poverty and don t have proper education
beyond high school which is why they don t have the equal opportunity for jobs.
African Americans still continue to sit in the shadow behind white people.
In the past history, African Americans were slaves and were looked at and thought of
as less important than whites. Still today

The Behavior and Study of Particles Essay
Particles are a very important part of this world. From the particles that make up all
the humans in the world to the particles that make up the clothes we wear. Particles
define the world we live in and everything we know about it. From the behavior of
particles, scientists can determine many things about the world and the way it works.
The simple definition of a particle is that it is a minute portion of matter. While not
incorrect this answer lacks complexity. As was previously stated, particles make up
everything; but, they also make up even the most basic form of matter the atom.
Protons, neutrons, and electrons are all particles that make up an atom. Protons and
neutrons themselves are made of individual particles called quarks. A... Show more

Mesons, made of quark pairs, are usually found in cosmic rays. Quarks combine to
form charges of 1, 0, or +1. Quarks in Baryons and Mesons are bound together by
strong forces formed from the exchange of gluons. Much like how the
electromagnetic force strength is determined by the amount of electric charge, the
strong force strength is determined by a new quantity called color charge.
(abyss.uoregon.edu)
Quarks come in three colors, red, blue, and green. Although the implication is that
quarks are colored, these terms are not meant to indicate a particular hue but
instead describe the color of the charge of the quark. So, unlike electromagnetic
charges which come in two types (positive and negative or north and south), color
charge in quarks comes in three types. Color charge also has its anti particle nature.
So there is anti red, anti blue and anti green. Gluons serve to act as the carrier of the
color when they interact with quarks. Baryons and mesons must have a mix of colors
such that the result is white. For example, red, blue, and green make white. Also red
and anti red make white. (abyss.uoregon.edu)
There can exist no free quarks; meaning no quarks can exist on their own. All quarks
must be bound to another quark or antiquark by the exchange of gluons. This is
called quark confinement. The exchange of gluons produces a color force field,
referring to the assignment of color charge to quarks, similar to electric charge. The
The United States Women s National Team
The United States women s national soccer team is being torn under discrimination
and how they are being treated as an individual. Throughout the years, the women
have accomplished so much more than the men, but yet are being paid less than
what the men are making. They have experienced rough conditions of the fields
when they play their matches, which can lead to serious career ending injuries. The
women have had enough of this situation and they plan to bring this up to the U.S

Frankenstein Midpoint Assessment

Glory is coveted by most and the pursuit of it can cause untold changes within an
individual s character. In spite of this, glory in whatever field possesses the threat of
becoming an obsession. Thus, the increasing extent to which one pursues their
passion through their journey will shift it to obsession and rid the subject of
innocence often through violence. Both Victor Frankenstein and R. Walton attempt to
take on such a quest, however, Frankenstein displays the adverse effects of such an
obsession.
The desire to create and discover is one endured by both Walton and Frankenstein;
each realizing that in attaining such glory, one must sacrifice their innocence.
Walton expresses his need to ВЁaccomplish some great purposeВЁ, citing that, to
him, glory was more valuable than the pecuniary advantage he already possesses
(Shelley, p. 3). Despite his own thinking, Walton s own search is truly one for self
knowledge and wisdom, as his own soul is overcome with a ВЁlove for the
marvellous, a belief in the marvellousВЁ (Shelley, p.6). Thus, Walton is still seeking
to fulfill the peregrination his passion has set him on, hoping that he will find
answers to his own true purpose, under the disguise of glory (Foster, Chapter 1).
Walton has yet to experience a shift from passion to obsession, and thus, his
innocence and naivety is still secured to his psyche. He believes that this search will

The next piece of criteria that the ASPCA website uses is the text. Each important
piece of information on the homepage are in large, bolded letters. This feature
emphasizes the importance of the words. For example, the black text that reads 63
cents a day is an important piece of information regarding donations. The text is
also black in color, but placed on a white background. This idea makes the message

viewer s attention and could drive them to consider donating just that small amount
of money to the ASPCA. This is a vital factor for this organization because
donations help drive the prevention of animal cruelty. Also, the idea of using only
sixty three cents to advertise donations helps to encourage people to take action
because it is such a small amount. Another example is on the Take Action page, the
key elements are in bold colors such as blue and green. The final piece of text that

wouldn t align. The truth is, Air Station Kodiak and the rest of the overseas air
stations are incomparable. Air Station Kodiak covers an area of response that is the
size of the lower forty eight, with deployments that are in excess of seven thousand
miles away from home unit. Its unique in that its mission requirements require the
unit to maintain a state of flexibility. The key component to making this happen is
having a stable ebb and flow of human capital. The financially fez able way to
produce this affect is to prevent high rate of yearly
Essay on Manet s Olympia
Art History 15 September 2008 Manet s Olympia Artist and people viewing the art
work have always had a fascination with the female nude. Even when I was a child
my attention was captured by the nude art not because I was a kid and I saw a
nude lady , but it forced me to wonder more about why the female nude was so
amazing as a tool for art and why this is repeated so many times throughout the
centuries. One female nude painting in particular was the subject of controversy and
exposed the syncretism and or the power of the female nude painting. When Edouard
Manet s painting Olympia, was painted in 1863. It was hung in the Salon in Paris in
1865.It was one of Manet s most famous paintings. It is saluted with taunts, laughter,

Many didn t know what to make of it. The model in the painting was viewed more
as a real subject or person and less as a generic face of upper class in a work of art.
It was so odd to some viewers they seek to find the real women in the painting
witch was unusual. It is believed Manet s technique further inflamed the
controversy surrounding Olympia. Rejecting his traditional art training, Manet
chose instead to paint with bold brush strokes, implied shapes, and vigorous,
simplified forms. The paint sat there on the surface of the canvas...It wasn t just
the fact that she s a nude and she s a lower class nude, but also the fact that she was
painted in...what many people read as almost childish or unskilled fashion,
explains art historian Anne McCauley in the film. Olympia shocked in every
possible way. That is to say formally, morally, in terms of its subject matter. It had
the whole range of outrage, adds art historian Linda Nochlin. This was a good film, I
enjoyed the presentation and it help my view of art work and more of what it s
about. The shock value is hard for us to understand today but at the time this master
piece of today was so different from the other pieces displayed in the art galleries. .
Magnet took the nude and did it his way , he said I just panted what I saw . I believe

Political Factions
For the majority of us, government often seems like nothing more than a distant and
unrelatable amalgamation of esoteric arguments and oceans of rules and regulations.
Nevertheless, government touches us all and not just during tax season. For better
or worse, governments all over the world form the backbone of society as we know
it. For this reason, it becomes relevant for us as citizens and residents to pose certain
fundamental questions. The most significant being one that is consequential to all
civilized persons, What is the appropriate role of governmentin the lives of citizens?
Another overarching question particular to the United Statesis, What is the
appropriate balance of federal and statepower, and what should each respective...

The formation of Factions is a totally natural and to be expected. Different people
want different things. The two biggest examples of factions are the left and right
sides of the political spectrum. On one end, the left, you have the liberal people
open to new and different ideas, believe in the importance of helping each other,
and believe that government needs to be involved in social issues in order to
provide equality. On the other end, the right, you have the conservative people who
are determined to uphold established ways of thinking, believe in the importance of
self reliance, and believe that government should stay out of social issues in order
to protect freedom. What happens when these two large factions do not agree?
Absolutely nothing, as demonstrated by today s government. Madison was worried
about this problem and asserted that it was necessary for a national government
consisting of a single party to exist in order to counteract the polarizing and
paralyzing effects of factions among the states. As they act as a further separation of
power, factions do have their benefits. However, having the federal government
become a more party neutral environment could greatly help to avoid some of the
problems we see today; the federal government could keep the states and their
factions in check and make sure things actually get

the samples? d) Also in the two plots (below) identify where there are likely to be
real statistical differences between samples. (4 points)
ANS:
a) Error bars provide a graphical representation of the data variability and precision
in a measurement. Within samples around mean or median value, they provide idea
about how precise the measurements are and how far from reported value the true
error free value might actually be. They also provide a probable range within which
the actual value may differ from the reported value.
Ceteris paribus, error bars can be used to visually compare two quantities to determine
the statistical significance of the difference among them. It can also be used to
suggest goodness of fit of a given function.
c) Variability in the samples can be reduced by increasing precision and accuracy,
which in turn can be influenced through following two factors; such as:
1)sample number: Increase in sample number through increasing sample number or
repeating same experiment multiple times causes mean of the result (M) to get closer
to true mean, thus reducing variability.
2)sample placement with respect to spatial temporal
Boston Marathon Bombing Research Paper
The Boston Marathon bombing was a shocking and devastating event in the history
of the United States. In the middle of what was supposed to be a very happy and
cheerful event, three people lost their lives and 264 others were injured when two
pressure cooker bombs went off near the finish line. Even though this was a truly
horrific event, the initial response of the BostonPolice Department to the explosions
was incredible. Within minutes, additional Emergency Medical Service teams and
the Boston Fire Department were rushing to the scene, hotels were evacuated, and
police closed down a 15 block area around the blast site. The remaining runners were
also redirected to a different area away from the explosion. It was truly impressive to
see how well prepared everybody was in the case of an... Show more content on

Local, state, and federal agencies, nongovernmental organizations, and private
sector partners in Boston were all involved in helping to develop plans to define
the certain roles and responsibilities for everyone during the Boston Marathon.
Along with developing the plans for what to do, they also conducted exercises in
order to test the plans out and see how well communication and coordination is
during these large scale events. While doing more research on how this emergency
planning goes down, I came across a term I had never heard of before known as a
Mass Casualty Incident (MCI). The Emergency Medical Care Advisory Board
defines a Mass Casualty Incident as one in which the number of people killed or
injured in a single incident is large enough to strain or overwhelm the resources of
local EMS providers. The Boston Marathon bombing event definitely classified as a
MCI and during the emergency response to the bombings, the performance from the
response teams easily demonstrated the benefits of all the planning and test exercises

The Autobiography By Solomon Northup Essay
The autobiography by Solomon Northup, 12 Years a Slave, tells the unforgiving
story of the life of a slave in the mid 1800s. In the opening and closing of the book,
Northup declares that his intention for writing his story was to give an
unexaggerated, accurate representation of what he experienced during his twelve
years of captivity. My object is to give a candid and truthful statement of facts...
(Northup 1). He made it clear that he would make no embellishments to the story
because he wanted the story to be an accurate representation of what slaverywas like
in the Red River area in Louisiana. In 2013, a movie that recreated Northup s
memoirs was released. As in the case of the vast majority of books which are made
into a movie format for a broader cinematic audience, the screenwriters made
embellishments to the detailing of events by the author. While the movie differs from
the book with the exclusion of events and the changing of details in the plot, they
were both able to portray the story effectively.
In general, books can include a longer storyline and more details than movies because
of the limited time allotted for films which are designed to be watched in one setting.
In the case of the autobiography by Solomon Northup, the book contained much more
content and details than the movie contained. Each story that Northup wrote about,
he had personally experienced, and each of these tales was likely intrinsically
important to him a series of defining moments in
The Top Management
While the numbers of expatriates across the world have been increasing so has been
the difference in their performance or the outcome of the assignment. Research in
recent years has been able to partly explain the reason for such variances that have
largely been attributed to culture, manager support, home country support and so on.
However one of the most crucial aspects, pertaining to the psychological impact of
the location that the expatriate moves into, or the sense of security the expatriate
expects to feel while on their assignment has largely been ignored (Bader and Berg,
2013).
In this ever evolving scenario of volatility and uncertainty, now more than ever, crisis
management will need to begin with the ownership, involvement and strategic
direction of the C suite thus ensuring that the process in itself becomes a part of the
DNA of the organization. Further, involvement of the top management helps navigate
complicated decisions that seek to balance, responsibility to employees and
expatriates in particular versus business profitability and responsibility to the
environment and social populace versus market share and image (Howard, 1991).
The purpose of strategic crisis management is not to choose one over the other but
rather to put in place plans that ensure that balance rather than hard choices prevail.
Ensuring Expatriate employee safety and evacuation thus involves a three pronged
approach comprising of Awareness of the environment that helps in pin pointing
Paner A Successful Company With A Bright Future
While I believe that Panera is a successful company with a bright future, I have a
few recommendations which I hope could help Panera further grow their business. I
have included a plan of action for each recommendation. I recommend that Panera
open drive thru service in all of their restaurants. They could provide drinks and
pastries through the drive thru to customers on the go in the morning. This would
especially be beneficial during bad weather when consumers are leery of leaving
their vehicles. By providing this service Panera will be able to get more of a market
share on the morning commuters. To put this in action Panera should first analyze
which of their buildings are already situated with an outside wall that could
accommodate a window and driving lane. Next Panera should begin the training and
construction needed at these stores. Panera should then evaluate any necessary
changes to other stores that are within malls, or come to the realization that a drive
thru is not an option without moving the stores. Those stores would be last to deal
with. I recommend that Panera partner with recording companies to create
promotions which will help both Panera and the recording industry. I think Panera
would benefit from linking the customer rewards card with music downloads on the
internet. In order to do this Panera would need to meet with several recording
companies to obtain rights and to make a mutually beneficial agreement. After the
agreement is in place Panera

The major drawbacks with regards to the extensive use of information technology are related to the use of privacy. Johnson asserts that even though it might be true that individuals often trade off piracy for what appears as small benefits, it is not clear how the behavior ought to be interpreted. The point of view that individuals readily provide personal information does not necessarily mean that they do not value privacy. These people might be naГЇve and in some cases uninformed regarding the choice that they make. 2.Johnson asserts that surveillances that are further promoted by increased use of technology for gathering data undermine the citizen s ability and potential for democratic citizenships. As such, living in a panopticon implies that persons have limited space of independently developing themselves. 3.Concerns regarding the loss of personal privacy were the premier public issues to gain significant public attention during the period when computers were initially developed, and personal information database started to be used by corporations 4.Erroneous information can to a greater extent affects one s life. In your view, is there a way to embrace the benefits of technology without risking the harms that Johnson
  • 4. Stress And Oxidative Stress Aerobic organisms need molecular oxygen (O2) for respiration or oxidation of nutrients to obtain energy. There are some reactive by products of cellular respiration, derived from molecular oxygen, that are generated continuously in cells grown aerobically, such as hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) superoxide anion radical (O2 ), and the highly reactive hydroxyl radicals (OH).These reactive oxygenspecies (ROS) are essential for various functions such as homeostasis and cell signaling but an imbalance in favor of reactive oxygen species results in oxidative stress (OS) (Kashmiri et al.,2014). Oxidative stress (OS) result in interference in the functioning of biological systems that maintain levels of environmentally produced reactive oxygen species (ROS), by readily detecting and detoxifying them (Lucana et al., 2012). Living organisms have adopted mechanisms to protect themselves against oxidative stress, by producing enzymes such as catalase and superoxide dismutase, small proteins like thioredoxin and glutaredoxin, and molecules such as glutathione ( Cabiscol et al.,1999). Metallo enzymes such as superoxide dismutases are the primary antioxidant enzymes that protect cells from oxidative damage of superoxide radicals, by catalyzing dismutation of superoxide (O2 ) to hydrogen peroxideand oxygen. Superoxide dismutases, as name suggests dismutes superoxide. Dismutation reaction is that in which two equal but opposite reactions occur on two separate molecules. SOD takes two
  • 5. Chinese Philosophy And The Mandate Of Heaven Chinese Philosophy has been dominated by Humanistic ideology since the dawn of documented Chinese history. Chinese Humanistic philosophy aimed to profess the unity of man and Heaven as well as man and nature, unlike humanism that amines to discredit or deny a supreme power. This philosophic idea developed over time through the development of social and historical change. Following the conquest of Shang dynasty by the Chou in 1111 B.C., the Mandate of Heaven produced by the Chou, held a doctrine to justify right to rule outside of birth or blood right. (TSait wing.) The doctrine created in the Mandate of Heaven, states man s destiny mortal and immortal depended not on the existence of a soul before birth or death nor upon the whim of a spiritual force, but upon his own good words and good deed during is present life (Tsit Chan... Those born in royal families became rulers, whether capable or not, though Humanism focuses on the fact that people are born at an equal level, and their behaviors during their life time should dictate their place in society and the afterlife. Wing Tsit Chang summarized this perfectly that, Human personal power was supplanted by human virtue and human effort, and man, through his moral deeds, could now control his own destiny (Chang 3). The development of humanism majorly changed social, cultural, and political aspects of Chinese life styles. This paper will examine two ancient Chinese philosopher Confucius and Zhuangzi, who both studied Humanistic philosophy, though drew different conclusions as to the ethicial humanistic

  • 7. Inca Narrative Our next step was to walk half a mile up a set of worn out and weathered stairs, this was very tiring and I almost tripped a couple of times. Looking to my right and I saw large number of large mountains that were densely covered with jungle vegetation. I looked down and noticed the clouds below me. Our altitude was very high because I noticed the air getting colder. We finally reached the top of the mountain. Our guide showed us around the ruins. Walking around, I saw the unique arch architecture of the doorways. There was a carving of an eagle on a circular stone on the ground. I wondered how the Incas could have carved the stones perfectly to sit on top of each other without cement. Some were stacked up to 10 feet high. There were some Incan... Our tour continued as our guide showed us to a large, flat field where the Incas did their celebrations and rituals. There were llamas grazing on the field. One llama walked up to me and sniffed me. The llama was brown with black legs. I looked into the llama s face and it looked like it was smiling! From there, I walked to the edge of the mountain and looked down. There was a steep cliff with only jungle vegetation at the bottom. At the bottom there was a little river with a rope bridge to cross it. The rope bridge was 100 feet from the ground and didn t look very sturdy. I wouldn t cross that, I mumbled. I walked down the Inca Temple and out the Incan houses glancing up one last time at the remains of the mighty city. I thought of what used to be up there and how glorious it was. Turning I saw a native Incan ancestor herding a llama herding a down a path. As I walked into the bus, I imagined how great this race of people was. There skills and talents made them the richest people in that continent. I hoped that my country would use their talents to help innovate the future and make this world a better
  • 8. The Way Of Life Has Forever Changed The way of life has forever changed. Living like our parents did is not an option for the technology thirsty current economy. We have become so dependent on technology and its advances that without it, we simply would not be able to function. If every computer and computer system suddenly crashed or stopped working it would be pure chaos, every nuclear facility would become uncontrollable, and there would be numerous toxic meltdowns, airplanes would fall from the sky, trains and cars and other forms of transportation would be unusable, communications would stop, electricity would go out, people would die (Dilard, 2014). These systems are so vital to the way we function as a society that to think of life without them is comical. Networks and systems are so vital to business and society that special positions and roles are needed to ensure they are maintained and operate. Network administrator and system administrators are more important and demanding roles than an average user would think. Users can go weeks, possibly even months without having to phone their administrators for help, but this is not due to no issues, this is due to administrators actively doing their job. Networks are only as good as their admins perform, the overall structure and integrity of a network lies in the hands of network and system administrators. Without these unsung heroes patching and protecting our digital frontier, our networks would be susceptible to any number of cyber attacks

Ethnic Assimilation From The United States It is expected that ultimately there will be a loss of ethnic distinctiveness for immigrants in the U.S., meaning the lack of attachment to the country of origin. (Golash Boza, 2006) It is argued that all ethnic distinctiveness will no longer exist by the seventh or eighth generations. Before exploring the influence of foreign born vs. U.S. born parents on their children s cultural assimilation; the different theories of assimilation will be explored. The idea of Assimilation came about in the early 20th century. Ethnic Identification Ethnic distinctiveness is expected to eventually disappear, when it comes to third or fourth generation children. (Golash Boza, 2006) Ethnic distinctiveness is directly related to ethnic identification and how a person sees themselves. (Golash Boza, 2006) In society there are African Americans, Asian Americans, Latino(a) Americans and Americans. The question of losing the hyphenation and just calling yourself American effect on integrating yourself into the American culturewas raised and if so does calling yourself American rather than Latino(a) American mean that you have completely lost your ethnic identity? Ethnic identification plays a big role on cultural assimilation into the American culture. A survey was done to explore the relationship between ethnic identification and cultural assimilation and how it differs between the children of foreign born and U.S. born parents. In a National Latino Survey done in 2002, surveyors asked respondents to describe themselves using different terms

Memory And Imagination Memory and imagination are central to Brian Friels play, Dancing at Lughnasa and Emma Donoghues 2010 novel, Room; However, as memory provides substance to imagination and vice versa there can often be a blurring of lines between memory and imagination, shuffling events and shuffling reality. This overlap between memoryand imagination will be the main focus of this essay. According to Pierre Nora, memory can be multiple, yet also specific, collective, plural and individual; it only accommodates facts that suit it and nourishes the recollections that might be particular or symbolic (Nora 9). Power is a crucial fitness factor in the game of volleyball. Upper body power is necessary in order to execute common volleyball moves such as a serve or block but also higher velocity shots, for example, a spike which travel at an average of 112 128km/hr. The period 1890 1940 was just followed the Meiji restoration, and was typical in the history of Japan, at that time, Japan was on the way from a feudal country to a capitalistic country, called modernization. Many western practices were being more and more adopted, however, at the same time, traditional rules still had strong influences in Japan. Hand in hand, the zaibatsu and government guided the nation, borrowing technology from the West. Japan gradually took control of much of Asia s market for manufactured goods, beginning with textiles. The economy structure became very mercantilist, importing raw materials and exporting finished products a reflection of Japan s relative poverty in raw materials.[2] Japan emerged from the Tokugawa Meiji transition as the first Asian industrialized nation. Domestic commercial activities and limited foreign trade had met the demands for material culture in the Tokugawa period, but the modernized Meiji era had radically different requirements. From the beginning, the Meiji rulers embraced the concept of a market economy and adopted British and North American forms of free enterprise capitalism. The private sector in a nation blessed with an abundance of aggressive entrepreneurs welcomed such change. Economic reforms included a unified modern currency based on the yen, banking, commercial and tax laws, stock exchanges, and a communications network. Establishment of a modern institutional framework conducive to an advanced capitalist economy took time but was completed by the 1890s. By this time, the government had largely relinquished direct control of the modernization process, primarily for budgetary reasons. Many of the former daimyo, whose pensions had been paid in a lump sum, benefited greatly
  • 13. The Apple Shell s Value Increases As The Lack Of... Task 1 a) In this diagram, we see that the Apple Shell s value increases as the lack of availability makes it more scarce. b) This problem could be solved by increasing the total availability of the Apple Shell product. This problem could also be solved by increasing the initial price of the Apple Shell, therefore reducing the demand of the product. This diagram shows that with a higher starting point the equilibrium point was reached sooner and therefore eased the supply problem that the initial product launch had. c) Price equilibrium is found where supply and demand are equal. This is the point where both sellers and buyers are happy with the price and quantity (B.Bisardi). For example in the electronic market in 2007, the entertainment company Nintendo was struggling to keep up demand with the sales of the Nintendo Wii. It had wanted to sell seventeen million units, but was only able to sell fourteen point five units due to supply issues. (Cleland, 2007).This shows that while demand is high, Nintendo still had problems with its supply and therefore at the time Nintendo had not found its price equilibrium at that time. Which goes to show how the price equilibrium is very difficult to find and in such a fast moving industry, it is even more difficult. d) Price elasticity of demand (PED or Ed) is a measure used in economics to show the responsiveness, or elasticity, of the quantity demanded of a good or service to a change in its price (Bisardi Sung,

Kaolin is very easy to refine and produce due to the abundant available quantities of its unrefined form, kaolinite. And since kaolin is inert in its clinical form it does not cause an immune response when introduced into a biological system, however it is not biodegradable so it must be removed after use (Bennett et al., 2014; Trabattoni et al., 2010). Kaolin has been an attractive hemostatic agent due to its ability to form clots and being inexpensive to produces, however a major drawback is that it does not work when the host is in a state of coagulopathy. Chitosan: Chitosan is a polysaccharide made of polymers of ОІ (1 4) linked D glucosamine and N acetyl D glucosamine (NAG), and is produced from a component of the exoskeleton of crustacean shells called chitin. Chitosan s hemostatic effects are due to its amino groups reacting with the membranes of circulating cells in the host s blood, leading to eventual clot formation that occurs independently of the innate coagulation cascade. The positively charged residues present on chitosan attract the negatively charged cell membranes of erythrocytes and thrombocytes, creating a cross linkage of said cells and then the formation of a thrombus. Chitosan is also biodegradable and is broken down inside the host. It also induces an immune response that activates macrophages and stimulates cell proliferation leading to faster wound healing

Her plan went wrong, and she killed her only son. The stepmother blamed Hase for her loss. This is the second example of karma. Hase s stepmother was jealous of her which is a sin, and bad karma came to her. She tried to kill Hase and bad came back to her. This is an example of Good vs. evil when good, defeats evil. In both of these short stories it explains for Good vs. Evil is connected to karma. When you do good things good karma will come back to you. When you do bad, horrible things will happen to you in return. The example of Yuhei not obeying his wife s orders is an example of Evil, which resulted in him having a horrible life. When he let the crane free and him being bless with a wife was an example of good karma. This shows that one person can make good and bad actions. In the second story Hase s stepmother trying to killer her, resulting in her only sons death is an example of bad Karma. She took the evil path and bad things happened to her. This
  • 17. Life Extension And Its Meaning For Life Life Extension and It s Meaning for Life Aside from having ideas of what life is and how it came to be, another idea to discuss is whether or not can we redefine human life through life extension. It has been observed in tests on organisms simpler than humans, that the process of aging is plastic, or is capable of being influenced. An example of the observation comes from numerous tests with mice in which the mice s telomeres, or the ends of their chromosomes that protect the chromosomes from wear, are lengthened or shortened. Lengthening these telomeres using their variation of the protein, telomerase, allowed for the mice to have longer lifespans. Keeping in mind that mice have been observed to have increased lifespan due to their treatment with telomerase, such method of life extensionis currently not feasible with humans. This is due to the fact that treating humans with human telomerase leads to a higher probability of having cancer. Thus, other ways of extending lifespan are being developed, one way in particular being through regenerative medicine or regenerative therapies. The strategy to combat agingto length human lifespan with regenerative medicine comes from the theory that aging is caused by the accumulation of cell damage throughout a human s life. Neocolonialism is when the most powerful industrialized nations and countries like the United States use their political and economic power to dominant and use the resources of the least industrialized countries and nations. Moreover, a lot of my clothes came from least industrialized countries because the United States can exploit theses countries for cheap resources and labor. Since they can benefit from cheap labor and resources, they can also benefit from a lower cost per item made. Thus, the United States saves a lot of money and resources from taking their production to the least industrialized countries.

He had an important message to send to this audience. Not only did have an important message but Lincoln had an interesting way of delivering this message. In doing so he did not choose an effective rhetorical strategy. There are many reasons to why it was not effective. Anyway, Abraham Lincolnwas speaking to the whole country but, it was mainly directed to the south. It was directed to the south because the south believed that slaverywas a right whereas the north believed it was wrong. He states One section of our country believes slavery is a right and out to be extended, while the other believes sit is wrong and ought not to be extended. This shows the audience that he speaking to. To this audience he wanted them to mainly get two important messages. Lincoln states Physically speaking, we can not separate. We can not remove our respective sections from each other nor build an impassable wall between them. A husband and wife may be divorced and go out of the presence and beyond the reach of each other, but the different parts of our country cannot do this This means that Lincoln wants to stay united as a nation. Not only that but he wanted the south to get another message. He states You have no oath registered in heaven to destroy the Government, while I shall have the most solemn one to preserve, protect, and defend it. This is saying that if they do not stay united as a country the country will fall apart and he will have no choice but to start violence, which is how the civil war started. Lastly, the way he delivered this is he shows how serious this topic was with the tone he was using. The message he sent to the south was based on logos. Logos is the logical appeal, which is the way he decided to convince the south to stay united and not bring any more slaves in. In doing so he uses many strategies. For example, he states And might it not be well at the same time to provide by law for the enforcement of that clause in the Constitution which guarantees that the citizens of each State shall be entitled to all privileges and immunities of citizens in the several States ? Difficult standards for people to live up to. This was said by Alfred A. Montapert the author of many inspirational novels. I imagine many of you do not have a clue what the word Animal Euthanasia actually means. According to the College of Veterinary Medicine means Euthanasia is a Greek term meaning good death . In this context, its objectives are met when death is induced which causes no pain or distress to an animal. Although this is not always the case in many different situations. Oftentimes there are complications in this horrible procedure. Many of these complications cause pain and agony in these poor, helpless creatures. The purpose of this plan is to relieve these animals that are in pain for different reasons. This gives the innocent animal the opposite of what is thought to happen. Many people believe that this a peaceful way to end an animal s suffering, although many times the animal ends up dying a slow painful death because the medication did not work the way it is supposed to. Animal Euthanasia should be illegal because the animal can suffer when the point of it is to end their suffering, animals don t deserve to die, and some of the animals don t need to be put down. One reason that Animal Euthanasia should be illegal is that the animals can suffer when they are trying to end their pain. Animal Euthanasia is a

Mesons, made of quark pairs, are usually found in cosmic rays. Quarks combine to form charges of 1, 0, or +1. Quarks in Baryons and Mesons are bound together by strong forces formed from the exchange of gluons. Much like how the electromagnetic force strength is determined by the amount of electric charge, the strong force strength is determined by a new quantity called color charge. (abyss.uoregon.edu) Quarks come in three colors, red, blue, and green. Although the implication is that quarks are colored, these terms are not meant to indicate a particular hue but instead describe the color of the charge of the quark. So, unlike electromagnetic charges which come in two types (positive and negative or north and south), color charge in quarks comes in three types. Color charge also has its anti particle nature. So there is anti red, anti blue and anti green. Gluons serve to act as the carrier of the color when they interact with quarks. Baryons and mesons must have a mix of colors such that the result is white. For example, red, blue, and green make white. Also red and anti red make white. (abyss.uoregon.edu) There can exist no free quarks; meaning no quarks can exist on their own. All quarks must be bound to another quark or antiquark by the exchange of gluons. This is called quark confinement. The exchange of gluons produces a color force field, referring to the assignment of color charge to quarks, similar to electric charge. The

In most other town s the company s treated the workers poorly, but in Homestead the workers played a big role in the decisions of their working conditions. Although the work was still dangerous they had a strong labor union. The labor unions were strong until the making of steel. With the making of steel

The mission of the ASPCA is to provide effective means for the prevention of cruelty to animals throughout the United States (ASPCA). Animal cruelty and neglect are huge problems in the United States, therefore organizations such as the ASPCA are needed to start the process of prevention. This feature emphasizes the importance of the words. For example, the black text that reads 63 cents a day is an important piece of information regarding donations. The text is also black in color, but placed on a white background. This idea makes the message pop and grabs the viewer s attention. Due to the placement of the text, it catches the viewer s attention and could drive them to consider donating just that small amount of money to the ASPCA. This is a vital factor for this organization because donations help drive the prevention of animal cruelty. Also, the idea of using only sixty three cents to advertise donations helps to encourage people to take action because it is such a small amount. Another example is on the Take Action page, the key elements are in bold colors such as blue and green. The final piece of text that supports the mission of the organization is in the menu bar. The orange text on the menu bar is eye catching, which is important because the buttons lead to places where viewers can adopt pets, volunteer, and donate; these are all great opportunities to effectively bring awareness to preventing animal cruelty. Specific colors, when used strategically can benefit a

Even when I was a child my attention was captured by the nude art not because I was a kid and I saw a nude lady , but it forced me to wonder more about why the female nude was so amazing as a tool for art and why this is repeated so many times throughout the centuries. One female nude painting in particular was the subject of controversy and exposed the syncretism and or the power of the female nude painting. When Edouard Manet s painting Olympia, was painted in 1863. It was hung in the Salon in Paris in 1865.It was one of Manet s most famous paintings. It is saluted with taunts, laughter, ... Rejecting his traditional art training, Manet chose instead to paint with bold brush strokes, implied shapes, and vigorous, simplified forms. On one end, the left, you have the liberal people open to new and different ideas, believe in the importance of helping each other, and believe that government needs to be involved in social issues in order to provide equality. On the other end, the right, you have the conservative people who are determined to uphold established ways of thinking, believe in the importance of self reliance, and believe that government should stay out of social issues in order to protect freedom. What happens when these two large factions do not agree? Absolutely nothing, as demonstrated by today s government. Madison was worried about this problem and asserted that it was necessary for a national government consisting of a single party to exist in order to counteract the polarizing and paralyzing effects of factions among the states. As they act as a further separation of power, factions do have their benefits. However, having the federal government become a more party neutral environment could greatly help to avoid some of the problems we see today; the federal government could keep the states and their factions in check and make sure things actually get

(4 points) ANS: a) Error bars provide a graphical representation of the data variability and precision in a measurement. Within samples around mean or median value, they provide idea about how precise the measurements are and how far from reported value the true error free value might actually be. They also provide a probable range within which the actual value may differ from the reported value. Ceteris paribus, error bars can be used to visually compare two quantities to determine the statistical significance of the difference among them. It can also be used to suggest goodness of fit of a given function. c) Variability in the samples can be reduced by increasing precision and accuracy, which in turn can be influenced through following two factors; such as:

In the opening and closing of the book, Northup declares that his intention for writing his story was to give an unexaggerated, accurate representation of what he experienced during his twelve years of captivity. My object is to give a candid and truthful statement of facts... (Northup 1). He made it clear that he would make no embellishments to the story because he wanted the story to be an accurate representation of what slaverywas like in the Red River area in Louisiana. In 2013, a movie that recreated Northup s memoirs was released. As in the case of the vast majority of books which are made into a movie format for a broader cinematic audience, the screenwriters made embellishments to the detailing of events by the author. While the movie differs from the book with the exclusion of events and the changing of details in the plot, they were both able to portray the story effectively. In general, books can include a longer storyline and more details than movies because of the limited time allotted for films which are designed to be watched in one setting. In the case of the autobiography by Solomon Northup, the book contained much more content and details than the movie contained. Each story that Northup wrote about, he had personally experienced, and each of these tales was likely intrinsically important to him a series of defining moments in

Research in recent years has been able to partly explain the reason for such variances that have largely been attributed to culture, manager support, home country support and so on. However one of the most crucial aspects, pertaining to the psychological impact of the location that the expatriate moves into, or the sense of security the expatriate expects to feel while on their assignment has largely been ignored (Bader and Berg, 2013). In this ever evolving scenario of volatility and uncertainty, now more than ever, crisis management will need to begin with the ownership, involvement and strategic direction of the C suite thus ensuring that the process in itself becomes a part of the DNA of the organization. Further, involvement of the top management helps navigate complicated decisions that seek to balance, responsibility to employees and expatriates in particular versus business profitability and responsibility to the environment and social populace versus market share and image (Howard, 1991). The purpose of strategic crisis management is not to choose one over the other but rather to put in place plans that ensure that balance rather than hard choices prevail. Paner A Successful Company With A Bright Future While I believe that Panera is a successful company with a bright future, I have a few recommendations which I hope could help Panera further grow their business. I have included a plan of action for each recommendation. I recommend that Panera open drive thru service in all of their restaurants. They could provide drinks and pastries through the drive thru to customers on the go in the morning. This would especially be beneficial during bad weather when consumers are leery of leaving their vehicles. By providing this service Panera will be able to get more of a market share on the morning commuters. To put this in action Panera should first analyze which of their buildings are already situated with an outside wall that could accommodate a window and driving lane. Next Panera should begin the training and construction needed at these stores. Panera should then evaluate any necessary changes to other stores that are within malls, or come to the realization that a drive thru is not an option without moving the stores. Those stores would be last to deal with. I recommend that Panera partner with recording companies to create promotions which will help both Panera and the recording industry. I think Panera would benefit from linking the customer rewards card with music downloads on the internet. In order to do this Panera would need to meet with several recording companies to obtain rights and to make a mutually beneficial agreement. After the agreement is in place Panera
