Recycling Dog Parks
Dog parks can be of great benefit, both to the cities they reside within, and to the dog owners
themselves. However, they are not without cost; They can be costly to install and become an issue
to the nearby residential areas. As such, the decision to install a dog park is not a light one to be
made.
Dog parks can improve a canine s health greatly by providing a proper space for one to play and
socialize with other dogs. To this extent, it allows a dog to properly exercise, improving it s
mood and reducing the occurence of what has been deemed as bad behavior. This, in turn, results
in drastically fewer incidents of citizens being bitten by a dog; For example, according to A Dog
Park Benefits All , when New York City instituted leash free dog parks,... Show more content on

Additionally, there is the concern of noise that should be considered. The average decible range
of a canine is between 75 and 100 decibles, factoring in larger canines. This can be disruptive to
neighbooring residential areas, and create a displeasing atmosphere, as has been reported
previously in several areas.
These issues must be taken into consideration. However, they must be taken into consideration
factoring in the positives as well. Will the costs previously incurred by dog bites, the incident
reports, and any issues resulting there of, offset the average cost to taxpayers for instituting a dog
park? Can the dog park take sound into consideration during construction in order to reduce the
amount of noise that can be heard from nearby areas?
Permitting all factors are accounted for, and the ratio of dog owners to non owning citizens is
enough of a considerable amount, the installation of a dog park can be beneficial to any city. One
should not let the cost scare them, for they can be quite the cost saving

Lessons learned and breaches in data protection act.
In this section I will give a list of the lessons I learned from the book the Cuckoo s Egg by
Clifford Stoll in relation to the subjects that I am currently. Also I will identify any breaches to the
Irish data protection act that could be pointed out from the book.
No network is secure
In our networking classes this is a lesson that has been reminded to us over and over again by our
trendy and very intelligent lecturer. As shown throughout the book the hackers are able to access
various systems, like telephone systems and satellites to access the network across the world. Then
they illegal gain access by using default user names and passwords.
The illustration [1] below shows how the hackers got access through different networks that were
connected.
The data protection act states that access to wireless networks should be controlled by the data
controllers and that they should have encryption and the appropriate securities in place

Atomic Mass Of Pure Aluminum Lab Report
Introduction This experiment had two objectives: 1) to determine the atomic mass of pure
aluminum, and 2) to determine the masses of aluminum and zinc in an unknown aluminum alloy.
To fulfill both of these objectives, both pure aluminum and the unknown alloy were reacted with
HCl in order to produce a chemical and H2 gas. The reaction of aluminum and zinc with HCl are
found below:
2Al(s) + 6HCl(aq) вџ¶ 2AlCl3(aq) + 3H2(g)
2Zn(s) + 6HCl(aq) вџ¶ 2ZnCl3(aq) + 3H2(g) Both metal samples would dissolve into liquid HCl,
producing a H2 gas which would then displace grams of Hв‚‚O into a previously weighed beaker.
The increased mass of the beaker was then used to determine the amount of moles of H2, which was
subsequently used to determine the moles of aluminum reacted. Using the first reaction shown
above and molar mass ratios, the atomic mass of the pure aluminum sample was found, fulfilling
the first objective. A provided formula in the lab manual was then used to convert moles of H2 into
a mass fraction of aluminum in the unknown alloy, completing the second objective. Results for
both reactions were measured and calculated with the use of provided formulas found in the lab
manual.
Observations and Procedure Four trials were conducted in this experiment. The first two trials were
set up to ultimately record the experimental molar mass of aluminum, and the last two trials were
set up to record the percentages of aluminum to zinc in an unknown alloy. The purpose of two trials

The Development of a Campaign For Women s Suffrage After 1870
Prior to 1857, women had very few rights in the USA. If they were under 21
they were controlled by their fathers, and if they were married, by their husbands.
Legally, women were completely under the influence of men. However as time
progressed, women began to gain more Civil Rights due to several Bills being passed,
for example, the Local Government Act gave women female property owners the
right to vote in local elections, and in 1907 they women gained the right to sit as
councillors . When these as well as other changes started to occur, women began to
believe that further steps towards equal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It challenged the idea that women were being treated
as inferior to men, a view that has existed for years. Fewer women stood and
supported their opinions though, as the male dominance was a very strong part of
their culture at that time. Also, between the times of 1860 and 1890, women began to
gain more rights, including the Married Women s Property Act and the Local
Government Act (mentioned above). In 1897, the House Of Commons voted in favour
of a Bill supporting votes for women, although this was not passed until many years
later, it suggested that equal voting was achievable.
Social standings for women had greatly improved by 1900, as they were now
able to vote in local elections if they were property owners, and they were not
subjected totally to their husbands. This provoked more feelings that women were
entitled to voting, as in 1894, a petition concerning women suffrage gained Вј million
signatures. In 1870, the Education Act stated that all children were entitled to
elementary education, and, in the same year, University attendance rose. This caused
the idea that women were not educated enough to be entitled to vote to be
disregarded. Also, it provoked many women into believing their new skills and

Rules And Controls In Anthem By Ayn Rand
Anthem s Society Anthem is a book written by Ayn Rand and is about a boy who lives in a
future society where there are numerous rules and controls which keep people in line. It is
forbidden to be alone therefore everyone is required to say plural pronouns and it is illegal to say
personal pronouns. In real life, the present is the past in anthem and is called the unmentionable
times. The extensive rules may be present because of what the people of the unmentionable times
has done to the Earth like pollution or destroying other life on Earth so the new society was created
to fix this and create a new population which would not pollute the Earth and destroy the wildlife as
much as their counterparts from the unmentionable times. The main character... Show more content

The rule of never being alone would affect the generations by never having people be able to do
things by themselves and let everyone be lazier by doing only half of their work, because there
is always another person to do the rest. The controls would make the future generation s minds
to think that everything is ok and start to obey the leaders therefore creating a generation of,
technically, slaves which would whatever you want them to do and this is cruel and they
should be able to do what they want, go where they want, and see what they want. The
generations ahead could be physically changed too by being more skinny and less strong,
because all they do is eat, work, and sleep which could affect the brain and other organs to not
work properly due to the lack of nutrients and exercise. In the society of many rules and controls
almost everyone is short and small due to the lack of activities they do Ever have the Teachers
and the Leaders pointed to us and frowned and said: There is evil in your bones, Equality 7 2521,
for your body has grown beyond the bodies of your brothers. (Rand 18) Overall the effect of
including these rules and controls would prove to be bad for the future

God s Caring For Israelites Research Paper
God s miraculous care for Israel was astonishing when the Israelites were in the wilderness. He
used His incredible powers to make it possible for the Israelites to live and grow in His
faithfulness. He provided manna, water, clothes, and shoes, Nothing can compare to what he did
for them. The manna that God provide was on the ground in the desert. There on the ground was
bread. They each divided it among every person who needed it and it lasted for 40 some days. The
bread looked like coriander seed and tasted like wafers with honey. They ate it like cakes. God is so
miraculous, He made water come out of a rock. At Rephidim God used Moses to provide water out

Maintaining stock helps keep a better flow and customers will always be able to purchase what
they need. Second is to make sure to have enough staff and making sure to schedule fewer people
during slower hours and watch for trends when it is busy or slow. Last, making sure bills are paid
on time and are kept up with properly.
Ordering Process
To review the ordering process for The Broadway Cafe to make sure it is efficient and effective I
would change counter A to where a customeris able to order both their meal and drink at one
place. This will benefit both the process of getting a meal and make it easier for customers to
order everything they need at one spot. Counter B should be used as just food pick up and
counter C for picking up your drink so things do not get crowded in one area. Counter D could be
with counter A so when you order your meal you can go ahead and pay. Counter E is necessary
where it is and removes bottlenecks.
To Be process
Changing around where medication is ordered, picked up, and paid for to just one area makes it
easier for customers to get everything at one spot rather than having a section for each one which
will be more efficient. When waiting for medication to be picked up customers can look around at
products and might buy something else. Once the prescription is ready and they have questions
there is a separate area to talk to the pharmacist privately. With three easy steps of ordering/picking

Dream Deferred By Langston Hughes
Poetry Analysis of Dream Deferred Jazz poet Langston Hughes adopts figurative language to
convey his message to readers who are unsure about pursuing their dreams. In Dream Deferred ,
Langston Hughes depicts the danger of postponed dreams from the African American community
in the 1920s Harlem Renaissance where dreams were left behind due to fear of discrimination.
Hughes implements stylistic devices in his poem to develop the theme that deferred dreams may
lead to negative outcomes. Hughes applies symbolism and similes to his poem to emphasize the
terrible result of delayed dreams. For instance, Hughes questions if [Dreams] dry up like a raisin in

Communism And Capitalism And Communism Essay
Introduction:
Political Science has left its scholar an extremely wide ocean, filled with endless studies and
undone debates about Political Sciences theories. All through the past ages, political scientists
have rose from diverse cultures, examining their ideologies based on only their culture, and in
outmost cases their perception about other cultures. Political ideologies are the concepts that
ease the complex social world that we live in so that it can make more sense. The ideologies are
applied by means of offering what is named as an intellectual map, which helps people know their
positions in a society and help create a well organized state of a social landscape, targeting one
thing; an ideal society.
Regardless of any reviewed ideology, this paper discusses two of which have been so controversial;
Communism and Capitalism. In political and social, communism is a social, political, and economic
ideology and movement whose ultimate goal is the establishment of the communist, which is a
socioeconomic order structured upon the common ownership of the means of production and the
absence of social classes, money, and the state. However, Capitalism is defined as an economic
system based on private ownership of the means of production, and their operation for profit.
Capitalism centralized characteristics include private property, capital accumulation, wage labor,
voluntary exchange, a price system, and competitive markets.
Nevertheless, some questions remain unanswered

Kinetic Energy Research Paper
Energy is what we need to accomplish physical actions such as walking, lifting a glass, heating
water, or powering a TV (nmsea). You use energy for everything. Energy can always be conserved;
you cannot create nor destroy energy. Something you can do with energy is you can transfer energy
between objects (livescience). Energycan come in different forms. The two most common different
forms are potential and kinetic energy. Kinetic energy is the energy of motion, some examples of
that include downhill motion of a roller coaster cart, rolling a bowling ball, and the motion of a
bike. Kinetic energy has two other types of kinetic energy, thermal/heatenergy and sound waves.
Thermal and heat energy is energy that comes from heat when particles... Show more content on

labs. It has nothing to do with a bomb, the mainly fill the chamber with oxygen gas and the fuel. A
wire is put in the system to electrically ignite the contents to perform the study. A jacket of water
and a thermometer surrounds the reaction chamber, the heat released the chamber warms the water,
letting the people doing the lab determine the energy that is being released (physics classroom).
Another type of calorimeter is the coffee cup calorimeter. They take a Styrofoam cup with a lid.
The cup is half way filled with water and a thermometer through the lid. When the reaction occurs
in the cup, the heat will be absorbed but the water. The temperaturewill start to warm up (about).

Secrecy In Romeo And Juliet Essay
Mahatma Gandhi once said, An eye for an eye will make the whole world blind. Known as one
of the most famous plays about love, Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare is a play about
the fatal love of two children born to feuding families. The feud between the Montagues and the
Capulets was not only a battle between two warring families, but it serves as a barrier between
two star crossed lovers (Prologue. 6). This feud, introduced in the beginning of the play, serves as
the catalyst for the all the conflicts in the play. Hatred between these two families, made them blind
to the lovesprouting between their children. The families strife is the backbone of the play, and
without it, no conflict would have happened. The feud was the reason for Romeo and Juliet s
deaths because of the secrecy of their romance, the web of miscommunication, and the banishment
of Romeo.
The feud between the Capulets and the Montagues led to the secrecy of Romeo and Juliet s
romance. It is solely because of the fear of their parents strife that their forbidden love was ... Show

Secrecy caused more issues than simply secrecy itself, but as secrecy acted, other events
appeared that also factored into Romeo and Juliet s deaths. Because Romeo cannot ask Capulet
for Juliet s hand because of the feud, Friar marries them secretly. As a result, Capulet is ignorant
about this and agrees to let Paris marry Juliet. (3.4.21 22) Juliet then goes to Friar Lawrence, who
unwittingly sets in motion the events that leads to the lovers tragic deaths. In addition, ignorance
of Lord Capulet to the events, caused him to move the day of the marriage of Paris and Juliet up a
day. (4.2.21 22) This by itself created multiple issues regarding timing, such as shortening the time
that the letter from Friar Lawrence had to be delivered to Romeo, and causing Juliet to take her
potion a day

Parents With Bereavement
Helping Parents with Bereavement in order to Help Children
The single biggest protective factor facilitating early parental loss and poor physical and mental
health outcomes is the presence of a supportive, nurturing parent who models healthy grief and
supports the child s emotional expression (Lueken, Kraft, Appelhans, Enders, 2009; Lueken
Lemery, 2004; Worden, 1996). Werner Lin Biank (2012), set out to teach parents how to
appropriately model grief, to engage with children in their expressions of sadness, and to provide
the family with resources and coping skills. As previously stated, children that experience parental
loss are at a high risk of a variety of succeeding health and mental health problems (Bruskus, 2008;

It is important to recognize the fact that children with developmental disoders experience grief
even though their experessions of grief may be very different from their nondisabled peers or
siblings. It is also important to recognize aggressive and self harming behaviors. An increase in
frustration and compulsiveness, difficulties in relationships, somatic complaints, and
withdrawal should be seen as possible expressions of grief instead of as part of the child s
disability (Bonell Pascual et al., 1999; Kauffman, 2005; Lavin, 1989). Due to the fac that
developmentally disabled children have trouble understanding abstract concepts, they may need
information about death and dying to be communciatied through various mediums and to
include multi sensory pieces to ensure comprehension. Using phrases such as, He is with God ,
should be avoided in order to lessen the chances of confusing the child. Developmentally
disabled children are concrete thinkers and death should be explained as simply and clearly as
possible. Understand that responses to grief may manifest themselves in a range of emotions,
cognitions, behaviors, and physical reactions. Using materials that the child can see, such as a
feelings chart to help the him or her identify and describe their responses may be beneficial. Talk
to the child abou the purpose of rituals like wakes, memorials, and funerals, being very detailed
about what the child is to expect. Use of pictures, photographs, or story books is encouraged in
order to familiarize the child with new words and activities related to death. Shielding children
from the reality of death and mourning rituals should be limited as such protective treatment may
prohibit the child s coping efforts and grief reactions, leaving them at a higher risk for developing
psychiatric problems

A Summary Of Traditional Religion In Society
Butler uses traditional religion in the novel to demonstrate the ways in which it can be a destructive
or constructive force in society. Butler demonstrates the dangers of dogmatic, authoritarian religion
when it is used as an excuse to ignore the needs of others and the changes in society. Religion is not
inherently a destructive force; it becomes a destructive force in Lauren s communitywhen it is used
to control and limit thinking because of deference to church leaders such as Lauren s father.
There is no motivation to adapt or change. The religion in Lauren s neighborhood, led by her
father, prevents its members from moving forward as they believe in a literal acceptance of
everything in the Bible (Butler 23). The community s interpretation of the Bible does not help
them adapt as society changes. By taking the Bible literally rather than using it as a guide for
understanding the world around them, as an example of how to extend community to the people
who have been ostracized, the community uses religion as an excuse to focus on themselves rather
than focusing on others with further supports the neoliberalism in their society. Lauren s
community is willing to leave the safety of the community to have a baptism in big tub of
expensive water (Butler 16). Lauren points out that it would be less expensive and less dangerous
to be baptized at home in a bath tub, but no one pays attention to her idea. She writes, to adults,
going outside to a real church is like

Mere Christianity
In C.S Lewis novel, Mere Christianity, he dives into the differences that can be within a moral
code, while also proving that they are all the same that the base. Lewis also tries to answer a
question that does not have a simple and clear cut answer: why do we feel bad when we
misbehave, if everyone misbehaves?
Early in book one, the focus is on what we feel and what those emotions mean. He uses an
example of hearing someone call for help. There would be three feelings. First, a desire to help.
Second, a desire to keep out of danger. And third, a gut feeling that the first desire is right and the
second desire is wrong. Therefore, morality may be related to instinct, but it is not a one to one
result of it. Also, there is no instinct that is moral all the time without fail, further proving that
instinct does not equal morality. One example that resonated the most while going through this
book was Lewis point bout the Salem witch trials and how one can use this to argue the
consistency, or lack thereof, of morality. One could say that these trials are proof how... Show more

He explains that Christianity is not meant to be simple or generic. Some critics of the religion
complain that it is too complicated, but there is then the follow up point that life is not simple, so
why should religion be? Christianity forces people to put trust in the unpredictable, and
sometimes makes them act outside of their instinct. For most of the second book, Lewis goes
very deep into the fundamentals of Christianity and what he believes. He has many viewpoints
that are not widely accepted in the general world of faith, but it most definitely makes the brain
work a little harder. He explains his reasoning behind some of these rules and views in book three
of the novel, and he also works through some of the stereotypes of the

Essay about Why we dropped the Atomic Bomb
Why we dropped the Atomic Bomb The dropping of the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki
in August of 1945 was a definite turning point in the Pacific War of World War II. Earlier that year,
Germany had been defeated and the world then turned its attention to the Pacific war. Most history
books state the argument that the dropping of the atomic bombson Japan was necessary to stop the
war in order to save thousands of lives of American troops that were planning to invade Japan. Had
the bombs not been employed (so the wisdom goes), an enormous number of American troops
would have perished in an inevitable amphibious operation against the Japanesemainland.

The B 29, an aircraft designed to fly long distances without refueling, began to systematically bomb
Japan. It was the B 29 that flew the atomic bombs to Japan. This aircraft took the war home to
Japan. (Garvey 45)
The B 29 firebombings on Tokyo and the effective blockade of supplies for Japan by the
American submarines weakened the Japanese empire. Meanwhile, the Americans troops and
back home were fed the idea that the Japanese would never surrender and the war would go on
forever. But in fact, the Japanese had sent peace feelers to the West as early as 1942, only six
months after the December 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor. More would come in a flood long before
the fateful use of the atomic bombs. (McManus 1)
Even before the bombing of Pearl Harbor, the Japanese were divided into two groups.
The peace party included the Emperor Hirohito and officers in the navy. The war party , headed
by Army leader Tojo, included fanatical military members, believed that Japan s empire should
cover all the islands of the pacific and were responsible for the attack on the navy base in Pearl

The Church Of Jesus Christ
Commonly referred to as Mormons, though they prefer to be known as Latter day Saints. The
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints was formed in the first half of the nineteenth century
by its founder, Joseph Smith. Smith was said to have been visited by God, the Father, and Jesus
Christ after retreating to the woods to pray for guidance. At the time there were multiple
competing facets of Christianity and Smith was unsure which to join. To answer his question,
God and Jesus Christ told him not to join any of the churches, but to restore the one true church.
After Jesus s crucifixion, Latter day Saints believe the original church fell after followers argued
over his teachings leading to the loss of his true message. Later, Smith was visited by an angel
named Moroni, who announced the existence of two gold plates for him to find. The plates were
in an unknown language so, through God s assistance, Smith translated the plates into English.
Once they had been translated, the plates were taken back by the angel. The translation of the
plates came to be known as the Book of Mormon, which is the groundwork of the church for
Latter day Saints. Smith and his followers, due to the hostility from the local population in New
York, left to settle westward where they could practice their religion freely. Along the journey,
Smith was murdered by a mob for his religious beliefs, but his follower continued on and settled in
Utah. On February 14th, I interviewed Kevin Anderson at The

George Washington wrote this in a letter to John Jay (Doc 3). Even the man who is immediately

run our country by, the young country would eventually break apart and the fighting of the higher
powers would begin again. The reasons George thought this way was because of how week the

citizens, and then say that we do not require a new, a protecting, and efficient federal nation

many different Europe countries, and since the Articles of Confederation did not allow the
United States government to tax the states it was very hard for the United States to pay those
debts back. So, to keep the credit of the United States high the debt was needed to be paid back
quickly and also so that the U.S. could be trusted as good allies, a solution was needed. The
solution that was decided on was to form a new document of guidelines for the new country and a
new strong central government to tax the states, and citizens and not have the states be nearly their
own country but rather a whole unified country. The Constitution is a proposal as big as a change
as the document which separated us from Great Britain. (Doc. 4). The new proposal of the United

document actually was, but a big change is exactly what the country needed to solve some of the

History Of The Circus Maximus
Introduction The Circus Maximus is the greatest entertainment venue is Italy. It was the first
stadium in Rome and the largest stadium as well. The Circus Maximus was built between the
two hills, Palatine and Aventine. It has and always will be the largest stadium in the Roman
Empire. It was also used as a model for other stadiums built in the Roman empire. It measured to
be 2,037 feet and length. The width was 387 feet. The stadium is said to hold around 150,000
people. The seats were concrete and stone. The lower two tiers were made of wood. The track
itself was originally covered in sand. It measured to be 540 x 80 m and had 12 starting gates. At
the open end of the track, The chariots arranged themselves. The stadium also provided arcades
and shops which served the spectators needs. Circus Maxiumus became a model for other
circuses in the Roman Empire. This site is now a park for the public. History Because of the rise
of christianity in the Roman Empire, the Circus started to lose many people. There would be less
people showing up the events they held, and eventually it started dying. The stadium was no
longer being used and even started to decay. There also was great damage to the structure because
of thieves who would steal the building material. It was because of flooding that the seats from the
lower tiers of the stadium got buried. It is believed to many that the real and true track remains six
meters under ground beneath thick soil. There was a

Alexander s Policy Of Fusion Essay
Son: Alexander s policy of fusion is the best method of governing the Persian Empire. Father: I
doubt your evidence. Listen to me son, just look at his attempts at proskynesis and see how it
failed to appease the races. It may have worked for the Persians with their silly ways of thanking
Alexander but it has not worked on Macedonians! Son: Proskynesis! Father if you only saw why
he had to introduce it to both courts then you would see my point. Yes, I may agree that it came
as all a bit of a shock to Macedonians; however we must trust Alexander to do the right thing by
us. Alexander does not want us to see him as a god; it is simply an attempt to make Persians
equal to us1. Father: To believe that would to be a fool. I believe Alexander not only wanted
fusion but to be worshipped. Do you not see that when Callisthenes spoke the truth that there is a
difference between honouring a man and worshipping a god2 there was full support from
Macedonians? Unlike the Persians we do not see our kings as gods. Proskynesis is... Show more

Appease the Persians he did, not just appeal to his own megalomania. Adopting the Persian
customs of honouring him not as a god, but king, was not to upset the Macedonians. It is our old
tradition that says he is a god, not the new one. Father, you must accept that we see things
differently now. We must look at it as a Persian would, despite all your misgivings about it. See
the decorum in Macedonians paying honours to Alexander as a king while he can still see our
devotion to him. Callisthenes was an outspoken man, one does not see the for and against, only
what they ve always known. Perhaps Anaxarchus was right to engage in debate with Callisthenes,
however I do not entirely agree that he could more justly be considered a god than Dionysus or
Heracles4. I am in support of proskynesis only from the view of Persians, not mMacedonians.

Lengerli Topcu Sexual Misconduct Sexual misconduct, as a sub type of sexual violence, refers to
the wide range of sexual act. As a general definition, according to World Health Organization
(WHO) (2012) sexual violence is defined as: any sexual act, attempt to obtain a sexual act,
unwanted sexual comments or advances, or acts to traffic, or otherwise directed, against a person s
sexuality using coercion, by any person regardless of their relationship to the victim, in any setting,
including but not limited to home and work. On the other hand, this is quite broad definition and
more detailed description is needed especially for the school, or institutional policies. For example,
according to Yale University policies (2014) the sexual misconduct definition is: a range of
behaviors including sexual assault, sexual harassment, intimate partner violence, stalking,
voyeurism, and any other conduct of a sexual nature that is nonconsensual, or has the purpose or
effect of threatening, intimidating, or coercing a person. In fact, sexual misconduct and harassment
include variety of unsolicited behaviors, it could be difficult to display all related sexual harassment
behaviors in any policies, the ethical codes or even legal statute. For example, along with the
development of technology, new types of sexually violent behavior have arisen. Without a mutual

Essay On Madame Defarge
The French common people were squashed by the wealthy leading to an unjust social system. As
the common Frenchmen s oppression continued, their anger festered eventually leading to the great
revolt known as the French Revolution. The book Tale of Two Cities written by Charles Dickens, is
about the poverty stricken French peasants as they rise up to fight against the rich and haughty
nobleman. The peasants had grown irritated by the haughty regime of the noblemen. While the
nobleman made up only two percent of the French population, they controlled the majority of the
wealth in France. This caused the common people to obtain minimal amounts of money throughout
their lives. The scarce amount of currency lead the Third Estate to a world of hunger and death,
however, the wealthy were oblivious to their pain.
After decades of suffering, the peasants grew uneasy and eventually protested their unfair treatment,
and they thought they were spreading justice as they were truly contaminating France with
retribution. The common people of France were tired of being mistreated by the noblemen, they

The Importance Of Clean Drinking Water In India
One of the biggest challenges facing the world today is the emphasis on providing clean water to
everyone throughout the world. This is a fairly easy task in wealthier countries with strong central
governments which establish regulations on how waterways are maintained and treated, however
in developing countries like India the task is insurmountable. With India s population soon to
surpass China by 2022 , there is a huge concern in the lack of clean drinking waterfor many of their
citizens (Riley, 2015). If India s population is going to continue to rise at the rates it is experiencing
today, the government must create more initiatives to alter the poor hygienepractices by its citizens,
to ensure everyone has access to clean drinking water. One of the biggest problems facing India s
access to clean water is the practice of improper hygiene, which is seen from the astronomical
amount of people that presently practice open defecationor someone defecating outside in the open.
The practice stems from early human civilization, but without much emphasis on the problem over
the past century, it has continued to rise with India s rising population. In India, a staggering 522
million of their citizens practice open defecation (India, n.d.). This is an extreme cause for concern
in a country that has such a dense population due to its population size compared to the countries
overall size. What this entails is that even if the amount of people who practice open defecation

Another threat comes from smaller expeditions that are becoming increasingly common by
individuals and small parties. Antarctica requires careful planning and a series of fail safe rescue
procedures if anyone gets into difficulty. These smaller expeditions sometimes fail to do this
adequately and resort to humanitarian requests for aid from shipping or nearby national bases when
they get into difficulty. In recent years for example a small helicopter (totally unsuitable for the
task) crashed into the sea off the Antarctica Peninsula requiring rescue.
There have so far been no major pollution incidents or losses of life in Antarctica as a result of
tourism, though there was a very close call in November 2007 with the holing and subsequent
sinking by an iceberg of the M/V Explorer in the Brans field Strait. Fortunately for the passengers

There are No Children Here Finding Strength in Poverty
Being privileged is something that I didn t understand until I read There are No Children Here, by

not truly recognized until I met the boys Lafayette, and Pharaoh. These boys were presented to me
by Kotlowitz, via his book, and the evident pain and sorrow that these young men went through on

Their family was the first to move into the homes, and at that time, they were proud of that. Here
they were, in a nice, affordable place where they could raise their children in a descent

would gather in the court yard to talk and enjoy each others company. The times sure changed
though. The Chicago Housing Authority started neglecting the Homes. Grass would go months
without mowing, the appliances would deteriorate without replacement, and the plumbing was
left to self destruct. When the CHA didn t control the Homes, and the police wouldn t enforce
the laws, crime soon ran free to torture the inhabitants of the once grand Henry Horner Homes.
The people of Henry Horner, especially the good people, longed for a place that they could sit up

the people here became so conditioned to think that this is the way it was supposed to be, that a

Review of the Film Adaptation of The Butcher Boy Essay
Review of the Film Adaptation of The Butcher Boy The butcher boy was made into a film
adaptation in 1997 by Neill Jordan and author of the original book Patrick McCabe. The Novel
was highly praised and controversial. Many saw it as the best account of Irish childhood. Its time
frame is reminiscent of the early 1960 s. It is about a young boy called Francie Brady who
becomes isolated from reality and eventually commit s the ultimate sin of murder from this
isolation he is experiencing. He is the victim of a dysfunctional family and of the effects of
modernization in Ireland at this time and we soon realize that he has been raised in an atmosphere
of inhumanity. Both Novel and filmcover themes such as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most importantly the film uses a lot of comedy which carries off very well in the film as it did in
the novel. As in McCabe s book, the film is not just a story about social victims in 1960 s Ireland
but a story that explores a society through the eyes of a child called Francie Brady in a time of
modernisation . The setting of The Butcher Boy was in Clones Co.Monaghan. Jordan decided to
have the characters also speak in a Monaghan accent which mirrored McCabe s. As this was a
film to be set in the accents of Monaghan all the actors who were not native speakers went to
considerable trouble to master this tongue .# Not only was Jordan bringing this mainstream film
production to Ireland but to Monaghan. This was a boost for any town or city to get the chance
to be in a blockbuster and For McCabe, it was a remarkable experience to return to his home
town with a motion picture crew in tow # The setting of the film was a very important aspect of
the movie in my opinion because if Jordan failed to pick a place as ideal as McCabe s hometown
then it might have been too outside the domain of the novel and may not have worked as perfect
as it did. The fact that Jordan went with Monaghan as the location of the film shows just how
close he wanted to get to the novel and to the writer. It would have been just as easy to keep all the
filming in Dublin or Galway and without the

Similarities Between The Game And The Hunger Games
Imagine if you lived in a place were everyday you had to fight to survive. This is exactly what the
characters in The Game and in The Hunger Games had to do. In the science fiction book The
Game written by Monica Hughes, which was about 10 people who were invited to a game, to see

Hunger Games written by Suzanne Collins, was about twenty four people who had to participate in
a life or death situation and only one could survive. Both of the authors help you understand
tenacity, innovation, creativity. Tenacity can be described as the characteristics trait of

Reenactment In Macbeth
The scenes selected in this reenactment include Act 1 Scene 3, Act 2, Scene 2 and Act 5, Scene 8.
These acts were chosen to be reenacted because they include some of the most important points in
the plot in the entire play. Throughout Act 1, Scene 3, Macbeth meets the three witches and learns
of his destiny to become king of Scotland. This is an important scene to include because the rest of
the play revolves around Macbeths actions in order to fulfill his destiny. This scene essentially sets
up the rest of the play. To add, Act 2, Scene 2 was chosen because it contains the murder of
Duncan in order for Macbeth to become king and reign over Scotland. This is a crucial scene to
include as many of Macbeth s actions in this scene cause implications later on in the play, when
people finally begin to discover Duncan s true murderer. Moreover, this scene demonstrates a major
theme in the play, excessive ambition or hubris. Alike many other tragic heroes, Macbeth s tragic
flaw is hubris relating to his strong desire to become king. Macbeth s longing to become king
compels him to murder the current ruler of Scotland, Duncan, creating further... Show more content

It was hypothesized that intermittent exercise bouts are more effective than moderate continuous

When looking at heart rate over time it was found that the participants were able to exercise for

Participant 1 is more trained in comparison to participant 2, and is therefore able to exercise
longer and at a lower heart rate, so it takes more time for participant 1 to fatigue. (Figure.1.) It was

A New World Order For The United States
A New World Order
The 20th century brought with it a plethora of technological advancements that acted as a catalyst
for an important and lasting shift in the United State s perception of its role in the world.
Technological advancement in travel and communication changed the American people s views of
the world, therefore changing the direction of American foreign policy. This shift in foreign policy
would eventually lead the United States into the grips of two horrific wars on the European
continent. However, these wars would provide the necessary environment for the country to
establish itself as the leader of the international system a title it would desperately need tin order to
attempt to create a new, less conflict ridden global order. Though World War Iset the stage for the
United States to assume a global leadership role, which then set the stage for a second world war,
it is not to say that the United States ever wanted anything to do with a European war in the first
place. I argue that the U. S. failures to prevent World War I and World War II was due to a series
of actions and events beginning at the turn of the century (a domino effect) that made it impossible
to avoid joining either war once they began.

specific day or event. We remember something or someone about our childhood. We remember our
school winter breaks, our long hot summer days and more. The perfect time to reflect though is in
the summer. Individuals have enough time to sacrifice in order to venture to their past. For
children, summer is permanent freedom for three months while for adults it is filled with memory
lane. Last summer, I was at the OhioState Fair. It was a beautiful, sunny day. The wind was
blowing and out of the corner of my eye, I recognized a longtime friend from secondary school.
We embraced each other in friendship. I introduced him to my two beautiful children. He was
with his two children also. When I asked what he was doing there, he announced he had only
come from Kentucky to attend the Ohio State Fair. After the introductions, we decided to stay
together as a group. It was a happy time and we talked about our relationships. I told him about
my beautiful wife of eight years. My friend could not say the same. He had experienced a divorce
with the mother of his children. We took a time to look at the different animals, which then made us
reflect back to Sierra Leone. At this moment, I remembered had it not been for summer I would not
have had enough time to process such a thought. We watched our children ride roller coasters and
simultaneously conversed about life and back home. All the children

Nursing Assessment and Patient Care Essay
Lily was a 65 year old lady with stage 5 CKD, she had recently begun hemodialysis treatment three
times a week as an inpatient and had been responding well to treatment. During dialysis treatment
on the morning of the first day, Lily s observations showed that she was: tachycardic, hypotensive,
tachypnoeaic, had an oxygen saturation level of 88% and was becoming confused and drowsy. It
became apparent that Lily had become hypovolaemic. The hypovolaemic shock seen in this patient
was of a particular critical nature due to the fact that her dialysistreatment had moved her rapidly
through the first two stages of shock with her compensatory mechanisms failing very quickly (Tait,
2012). It was also much harder to identify the early signs of... Show more content on

Lily had only recently began dialysis treatment, and her unwillingness to proceed with treatment
would have resulted in her care becoming palliative, something the healthcare professional did not
think was suitable at this point in her illness trajectory. Tait (2012) points out that a critically ill
patient experiences not only physiological trauma, but also psychological trauma. This
psychological trauma that can be experienced after critical care has been addressed by the National
Outreach Forum (2003) who suggested that services should be developed to address the
implications of critical illness. Samuelson (2011) suggests that any negative emotions associated
with critical care can be counterbalanced with memories that reinforce safety, control and trust. This
is a useful point to consider in Lily case, who fortunately had the time to talk through her worries
concerning continual dialysis treatment with the staff on the ward, who were able to convince her
she was in the safest possible hands and that continuing her dialysis treatment would be the best
option.
The psychosocial impact of this event and its repercussions surrounding Lily unwillingness to
continue her dialysis treatment is a key aspect to consider when looking at involving Lily in the
decision making process. The DOH document No decision about me, without me (2012)

In the 1800`s civilization was the most important thing. If a man did not wear a hat he was
accused of being poor and even if he was middle class a hat and a suit was the only way of
recognizing status. Clothes were the way in which people could tell if you were rich or poor. In
the book when the man loses his hat no one helps him and suspects him of just being a poor person

come to earth.
People start being selfish and getting themselves out of harms way and do not even try to bother
helping the women and children. That was a mans duty to make sure, in any danger, to save his
wife and children.
The main character of this book outbids another buyer in a public house for buying the horse and

landlord who he bought the horse and cart off dead It was the landlord of the
Spotted Dog, whose conveyance I had taken . In the wreck of this little town and soon to be more

People of the church and vicars are losing faith and are starting to flee. Doctors who have swore the

Research Paper On Juvenile Delinquency
What is a Juvenile? A juvenile is a person who has not reached his or her 18th birthday. Juvenile
delinquency is the violation of a law of the United States committed by a person prior to reaching
18 years of age, which would have been a crime committed by an adult (office). There are many
residential programs put in place all over the country to help these youths that are coming in and out
of the Criminal Justicesystem. Once these Juveniles come out of jail, or get released on bond, they
sometimes do not have a stable place to go to and live. As these youths are leaving the jail facility
there are a wide variety of residential programs to help them get back on their feet. These residential
programs include Out of home placement in an institutional or camp like setting, or they might be
eligible for an alternative placement, such a community confinement. (programs)
Statistics shows that in 1999, nearly one in every 4 adjudicated delinquency cases resulted in
out of home placement for the juvenile. Placement cases have grown by almost 24 percent in
less than 10 years, from 124,900 in 1990 to 155,200 in 1999. However, this statistic might be a
bit old, recent statistics shows that there has been a steep decline in the number of juveniles going
into placement programs. In 2006, there were about 93,000 juveniles in residential placement, and
by 2008 there were just over 86,000 in public or private residential placement facilities. There is
yet to be an exact reason on why there

Superstructure In World Of Tomorrow
In World of Tomorrow, the film exemplifies how there s greater advantages of being apart of the
superstructure than the base. They seem to have an essence that the upper class gets closer to
perfection while the lower class just lives and dies. In the words of researcher Nicki Cole, Marx
argued that the superstructure grows out of the base, and reflects the interests of the ruling class
that controls it. As such, the superstructure justifies how the base operates, and in doing so,
justifies the power of the ruling class (Cole par. 3). This means that there are two different classes
in a sense and that the base is what what shapes and provides much of the work for the
superstructure while they feed off them and by this, the superstructure

Power Of Artificial Intelligence
The power of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is growing at an alarmingly dangerous rate and has the
potential to take over the world if we do not come together as a whole and put regulations on the
usage of it. Artificial Intelligence is defined as The capability of a machine to imitate intelligent
human behavior (Merriam Webster). As we know Artificial intelligence now, it is fairly simple
for the uses that we have for it, such as SIRI on Apple devices, AI controlled video game
opponents, and Google s search algorithms predicting what you are going to type into its search
bar. That is only the beginning of Artificial Intelligence s many capabilities. Global militaries are
researching and developing technology for war that uses AI, car manufacturers are teaching AI
how to drive cars by itself, IBM uses its AI creation Watson to help businesses make decisions
and grow, and thousands of other major companies and powerful nations are using it in many
unique ways. It contains many different unique parts, but the main uses are: Learning,
Reasoning, Perception, Reasoning, Problem solving, and using Natural Language (Copeland
2017). We need to regulate or eliminate the use of AI in war around the globe, stabilize the
economy after implementation of AI, and reduce or eliminate the inequality caused by it. AI
controlled killing machines used in warfare, sounds cool, right? They might sound like quite the
sight to see, but what happens when they become smart enough and decide to turn against the
people who created them and are using them for their own gain? How do we stop them? That is
one question that many people have, but none seemed to know the answer. What are the ethics
behind using robots to kill people? For example, is it not just as bad as a government that has
chemical weapons, that uses them against people that do not? None of the government s forces
are harmed, yet thousands of people are harmed and killed from the weapons, and it only takes
one fighter jet and pilot to drop the bomb. It is the same with the AI controlled robots, they could
be deployed halfway across the world, yet be controlled by someone on the complete other side of
earth, without any threat of danger or harm. We need regulations like

Brick Street Arts Bash Business Analysis
Despite the somewhat cold weather, downtown Marietta radiated a vibrant atmosphere on April 22
for the inaugural Brick Street Arts Bash. In coordination with Marshall Kimball and the Marietta
College Music Department, along with the Leader in Residence program through the McDonough
Center, the People s Bank Theater contributed tremendously to the success of the festival;
predominantly in terms of publicizing to the community and offering a performance venue. Within
this essay, I will discuss how the People s Bank Theatre exhibited Drucker s idea of social
responsibility, as described by William Cohen, with specific regard to its involvement with the
Brick Street Arts Bash.
To begin, the idea of this event spawned from the brain of the Music Department chair Marshall
Kimball in his proposal for the Leader in Residence program. Initially a small event for arts
advocacy, the bash blossomed into a community wide event with three stages of live entertainment,
fantastic art displays, and a number of children s activities all for free. As the event grew into its
final product, the People s Bank Theatre cooperated quite nicely with the music department to
ensure success, whether it be passing out flyers in the program for other shows or providing the
performers a comfortable space ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As defined by William Cohen, Drucker distinguished the four key themes of social responsibility
as, the inability of government to solve many social problems, the need for social responsibility to
be subordinate to the organization s mission, the opportunities for competitive advantage in social
responsibility, [and] the critical importance of leadership (Cohen 32). Each theme is present through
the People s Bank Theatre s involvement with this arts festival, however varying in

There is a need for strategic planning on a continuous basis, not only for organizations, but also for

Stereotypes In Wwe
Professional wrestling is both supremely popular worldwide but also massively misunderstood.
There aren t many people on the fence; you are either a fan or you re not. It is an industry where the
strongest, the fastest, the toughest, and the smartest collide in a battle that is both physical and

It is truly an international spectacle with wrestling schools all over the world that exist to train
thousands of students in a multitude of different styles.
The United States hosts the largest pro wrestling company in the world, the WWE. It s storied

Many stereotypes people use when praising or condemning pro wrestling look at this period in
particular. Steel chair shots to the head and face and the use of profanity were commonplace during
the Attitude Era . But on the flip side, there was the seemingly never ending list of immortal
matches and moments that today s wrestlers note as the moment they wanted to lace up a pair of
boots.
It was around this time that WWE began to make major strides outside of the United States and
Europe. And one of those places was India. I grew up in a village where we didn t have any cable.
We just had three channels...there was this town three miles from my village (and) they had cable
there. I used to watch (wrestling) sometimes there at my friend s house.
One of those kids watching the Attitude Era was Harpreet Singh. However, Harpreet never
dreamed of becoming a professional wrestler when he was young. He was too busy trying to
navigate life in a country with over 1.5 billion other people to think about hitting the ropes. In fact,
Harpreet never even had the chance to watch the sport on television on a regular basis until the
turn of the century when he was finally able to watch WWE programming in his house in the
village of Chatamli in the Rupnagar district in Punjab. However even after this, Harpreet only

from politics. Often times in parks and rec they make fun of the government and act like it is

even april who hates everyone and usually shows no feelings towards anyone besides Andy. For
example when Ann left town in season two and leslie was very upset everyone did things for

they could to help her find a new job because they loved her so much. The creators do a great job

  • 2. Recycling Dog Parks Dog parks can be of great benefit, both to the cities they reside within, and to the dog owners themselves. However, they are not without cost; They can be costly to install and become an issue to the nearby residential areas. As such, the decision to install a dog park is not a light one to be made. Dog parks can improve a canine s health greatly by providing a proper space for one to play and socialize with other dogs. To this extent, it allows a dog to properly exercise, improving it s mood and reducing the occurence of what has been deemed as bad behavior. This, in turn, results in drastically fewer incidents of citizens being bitten by a dog; For example, according to A Dog Park Benefits All , when New York City instituted leash free dog parks,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Additionally, there is the concern of noise that should be considered. The average decible range of a canine is between 75 and 100 decibles, factoring in larger canines. This can be disruptive to neighbooring residential areas, and create a displeasing atmosphere, as has been reported previously in several areas. These issues must be taken into consideration. However, they must be taken into consideration factoring in the positives as well. Will the costs previously incurred by dog bites, the incident reports, and any issues resulting there of, offset the average cost to taxpayers for instituting a dog park? Can the dog park take sound into consideration during construction in order to reduce the amount of noise that can be heard from nearby areas? Permitting all factors are accounted for, and the ratio of dog owners to non owning citizens is enough of a considerable amount, the installation of a dog park can be beneficial to any city. One should not let the cost scare them, for they can be quite the cost saving ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Atomic Mass Of Pure Aluminum Lab Report Introduction This experiment had two objectives: 1) to determine the atomic mass of pure aluminum, and 2) to determine the masses of aluminum and zinc in an unknown aluminum alloy. To fulfill both of these objectives, both pure aluminum and the unknown alloy were reacted with HCl in order to produce a chemical and H2 gas. The reaction of aluminum and zinc with HCl are found below: 2Al(s) + 6HCl(aq) вџ¶ 2AlCl3(aq) + 3H2(g) 2Zn(s) + 6HCl(aq) вџ¶ 2ZnCl3(aq) + 3H2(g) Both metal samples would dissolve into liquid HCl, producing a H2 gas which would then displace grams of Hв‚‚O into a previously weighed beaker. The increased mass of the beaker was then used to determine the amount of moles of H2, which was subsequently used to determine the moles of aluminum reacted. Using the first reaction shown above and molar mass ratios, the atomic mass of the pure aluminum sample was found, fulfilling the first objective. A provided formula in the lab manual was then used to convert moles of H2 into a mass fraction of aluminum in the unknown alloy, completing the second objective. Results for both reactions were measured and calculated with the use of provided formulas found in the lab manual. Observations and Procedure Four trials were conducted in this experiment. The first two trials were set up to ultimately record the experimental molar mass of aluminum, and the last two trials were set up to record the percentages of aluminum to zinc in an unknown alloy. The purpose of two trials for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It challenged the idea that women were being treated as inferior to men, a view that has existed for years. Fewer women stood and supported their opinions though, as the male dominance was a very strong part of their culture at that time. Also, between the times of 1860 and 1890, women began to gain more rights, including the Married Women s Property Act and the Local Government Act (mentioned above). In 1897, the House Of Commons voted in favour of a Bill supporting votes for women, although this was not passed until many years later, it suggested that equal voting was achievable. Social standings for women had greatly improved by 1900, as they were now able to vote in local elections if they were property owners, and they were not subjected totally to their husbands. It is forbidden to be alone therefore everyone is required to say plural pronouns and it is illegal to say personal pronouns. In real life, the present is the past in anthem and is called the unmentionable times. The extensive rules may be present because of what the people of the unmentionable times has done to the Earth like pollution or destroying other life on Earth so the new society was created to fix this and create a new population which would not pollute the Earth and destroy the wildlife as much as their counterparts from the unmentionable times. • 11. Communism And Capitalism And Communism Essay Introduction: Political Science has left its scholar an extremely wide ocean, filled with endless studies and undone debates about Political Sciences theories. All through the past ages, political scientists have rose from diverse cultures, examining their ideologies based on only their culture, and in outmost cases their perception about other cultures. Political ideologies are the concepts that ease the complex social world that we live in so that it can make more sense. The ideologies are applied by means of offering what is named as an intellectual map, which helps people know their positions in a society and help create a well organized state of a social landscape, targeting one thing; an ideal society. Regardless of any reviewed ideology, this paper discusses two of which have been so controversial; Communism and Capitalism. In political and social, communism is a social, political, and economic ideology and movement whose ultimate goal is the establishment of the communist, which is a socioeconomic order structured upon the common ownership of the means of production and the absence of social classes, money, and the state. However, Capitalism is defined as an economic system based on private ownership of the means of production, and their operation for profit. Capitalism centralized characteristics include private property, capital accumulation, wage labor, voluntary exchange, a price system, and competitive markets. Energy can always be conserved; you cannot create nor destroy energy. Something you can do with energy is you can transfer energy between objects (livescience). Energycan come in different forms. The two most common different forms are potential and kinetic energy. Kinetic energy is the energy of motion, some examples of that include downhill motion of a roller coaster cart, rolling a bowling ball, and the motion of a bike. • 13. Secrecy In Romeo And Juliet Essay Mahatma Gandhi once said, An eye for an eye will make the whole world blind. Known as one of the most famous plays about love, Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare is a play about the fatal love of two children born to feuding families. The feud between the Montagues and the Capulets was not only a battle between two warring families, but it serves as a barrier between two star crossed lovers (Prologue. 6). This feud, introduced in the beginning of the play, serves as the catalyst for the all the conflicts in the play. Hatred between these two families, made them blind to the lovesprouting between their children. The families strife is the backbone of the play, and without it, no conflict would have happened. The feud was the reason for Romeo and Juliet s deaths because of the secrecy of their romance, the web of miscommunication, and the banishment of Romeo. (3.4.21 22) Juliet then goes to Friar Lawrence, who unwittingly sets in motion the events that leads to the lovers tragic deaths. In addition, ignorance of Lord Capulet to the events, caused him to move the day of the marriage of Paris and Juliet up a day. Werner Lin Biank (2012), set out to teach parents how to appropriately model grief, to engage with children in their expressions of sadness, and to provide the family with resources and coping skills. As previously stated, children that experience parental loss are at a high risk of a variety of succeeding health and mental health problems (Bruskus, 2008; Dyregrov Yule... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is important to recognize the fact that children with developmental disoders experience grief even though their experessions of grief may be very different from their nondisabled peers or siblings. It is also important to recognize aggressive and self harming behaviors. An increase in frustration and compulsiveness, difficulties in relationships, somatic complaints, and withdrawal should be seen as possible expressions of grief instead of as part of the child s disability (Bonell Pascual et al., 1999; Kauffman, 2005; Lavin, 1989). Due to the fac that developmentally disabled children have trouble understanding abstract concepts, they may need information about death and dying to be communciatied through various mediums and to include multi sensory pieces to ensure comprehension. Using phrases such as, He is with God , should be avoided in order to lessen the chances of confusing the child. Developmentally disabled children are concrete thinkers and death should be explained as simply and clearly as possible. Understand that responses to grief may manifest themselves in a range of emotions, cognitions, behaviors, and physical reactions. Using materials that the child can see, such as a feelings chart to help the him or her identify and describe their responses may be beneficial. Talk to the child abou the purpose of rituals like wakes, memorials, and funerals, being very detailed about what the child is to expect. Use of pictures, photographs, or story books is encouraged in order to familiarize the child with new words and activities related to death. Shielding children from the reality of death and mourning rituals should be limited as such protective treatment may prohibit the child s coping efforts and grief reactions, leaving them at a higher risk for developing psychiatric problems ... • 15. A Summary Of Traditional Religion In Society Butler uses traditional religion in the novel to demonstrate the ways in which it can be a destructive or constructive force in society. Butler demonstrates the dangers of dogmatic, authoritarian religion when it is used as an excuse to ignore the needs of others and the changes in society. Religion is not inherently a destructive force; it becomes a destructive force in Lauren s communitywhen it is used to control and limit thinking because of deference to church leaders such as Lauren s father. There is no motivation to adapt or change. The religion in Lauren s neighborhood, led by her father, prevents its members from moving forward as they believe in a literal acceptance of everything in the Bible (Butler 23). The community s interpretation of the Bible does not help them adapt as society changes. By taking the Bible literally rather than using it as a guide for understanding the world around them, as an example of how to extend community to the people who have been ostracized, the community uses religion as an excuse to focus on themselves rather than focusing on others with further supports the neoliberalism in their society. Lauren s community is willing to leave the safety of the community to have a baptism in big tub of expensive water (Butler 16). Mere Christianity Analysis Grace Hardin Professor Laughter Business Ethics 24 September 2017 Mere Christianity In C.S Lewis novel, Mere Christianity, he dives into the differences that can be within a moral code, while also proving that they are all the same that the base. Lewis also tries to answer a question that does not have a simple and clear cut answer: why do we feel bad when we misbehave, if everyone misbehaves? Early in book one, the focus is on what we feel and what those emotions mean. He uses an example of hearing someone call for help. There would be three feelings. First, a desire to help. Second, a desire to keep out of danger. And third, a gut feeling that the first desire is right and the second desire is wrong. Therefore, morality may be related to instinct, but it is not a one to one result of it. Also, there is no instinct that is moral all the time without fail, further proving that instinct does not equal morality. One example that resonated the most while going through this book was Lewis point bout the Salem witch trials and how one can use this to argue the consistency, or lack thereof, of morality. One could say that these trials are proof how... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He explains that Christianity is not meant to be simple or generic. For most of the second book, Lewis goes very deep into the fundamentals of Christianity and what he believes. Most history books state the argument that the dropping of the atomic bombson Japan was necessary to stop the war in order to save thousands of lives of American troops that were planning to invade Japan. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints was formed in the first half of the nineteenth century by its founder, Joseph Smith. Smith was said to have been visited by God, the Father, and Jesus Christ after retreating to the woods to pray for guidance. At the time there were multiple competing facets of Christianity and Smith was unsure which to join. To answer his question, God and Jesus Christ told him not to join any of the churches, but to restore the one true church. After Jesus s crucifixion, Latter day Saints believe the original church fell after followers argued over his teachings leading to the loss of his true message. Later, Smith was visited by an angel named Moroni, who announced the existence of two gold plates for him to find. The plates were in an unknown language so, through God s assistance, Smith translated the plates into English. Once they had been translated, the plates were taken back by the angel. The translation of the plates came to be known as the Book of Mormon, which is the groundwork of the church for Latter day Saints. Smith and his followers, due to the hostility from the local population in New York, left to settle westward where they could practice their religion freely. Along the journey, Smith was murdered by a mob for his religious beliefs, but his follower continued on and settled in Utah. On February 14th, I interviewed Kevin Anderson at The ... This is a fairly easy task in wealthier countries with strong central governments which establish regulations on how waterways are maintained and treated, however in developing countries like India the task is insurmountable. With India s population soon to surpass China by 2022 , there is a huge concern in the lack of clean drinking waterfor many of their citizens (Riley, 2015). If India s population is going to continue to rise at the rates it is experiencing today, the government must create more initiatives to alter the poor hygienepractices by its citizens, to ensure everyone has access to clean drinking water. One of the biggest problems facing India s access to clean water is the practice of improper hygiene, which is seen from the astronomical amount of people that presently practice open defecationor someone defecating outside in the open. The practice stems from early human civilization, but without much emphasis on the problem over the past century, it has continued to rise with India s rising population. In India, a staggering 522 million of their citizens practice open defecation (India, n.d.). • 36. Reenactment In Macbeth The scenes selected in this reenactment include Act 1 Scene 3, Act 2, Scene 2 and Act 5, Scene 8. These acts were chosen to be reenacted because they include some of the most important points in the plot in the entire play. Throughout Act 1, Scene 3, Macbeth meets the three witches and learns of his destiny to become king of Scotland. This is an important scene to include because the rest of the play revolves around Macbeths actions in order to fulfill his destiny. This scene essentially sets up the rest of the play. To add, Act 2, Scene 2 was chosen because it contains the murder of Duncan in order for Macbeth to become king and reign over Scotland. This is a crucial scene to include as many of Macbeth s actions in this scene cause implications later on in the play, when people finally begin to discover Duncan s true murderer. Moreover, this scene demonstrates a major theme in the play, excessive ambition or hubris. Alike many other tragic heroes, Macbeth s tragic flaw is hubris relating to his strong desire to become king. Participant Extent Activity It was hypothesized that intermittent exercise bouts are more effective than moderate continuous training, because participants will be able to exercise long and therefore, will have a greater work output. The main findings from this lab can be categorized into three sections, heart rate during exercise bout refer to figure 1. Total work over exercisetype, refer to figure 2. Time to fatigue over exercise type, refer to figure 3. When looking at heart rate over time it was found that the participants were able to exercise for longer than when they exercised at a continuous pace. In the graph in compare to female students, Participant 1 is more trained in comparison to participant 2, and is therefore able to exercise longer and at a lower heart rate, so it takes more time for participant 1 to fatigue. We did not separate the trained from untrained and it is possible that fitness level could affect recovery time. A New World Order For The United States A New World Order The 20th century brought with it a plethora of technological advancements that acted as a catalyst for an important and lasting shift in the United State s perception of its role in the world. Technological advancement in travel and communication changed the American people s views of the world, therefore changing the direction of American foreign policy. This shift in foreign policy would eventually lead the United States into the grips of two horrific wars on the European continent. However, these wars would provide the necessary environment for the country to establish itself as the leader of the international system a title it would desperately need tin order to attempt to create a new, less conflict ridden global order. Though World War Iset the stage for the United States to assume a global leadership role, which then set the stage for a second world war, it is not to say that the United States ever wanted anything to do with a European war in the first place. I argue that the U. S. failures to prevent World War I and World War II was due to a series of actions and events beginning at the turn of the century (a domino effect) that made it impossible to avoid joining either war once they began. Last summer, I was at the OhioState Fair. It was a beautiful, sunny day. The wind was blowing and out of the corner of my eye, I recognized a longtime friend from secondary school. We embraced each other in friendship. I introduced him to my two beautiful children. He was with his two children also. When I asked what he was doing there, he announced he had only come from Kentucky to attend the Ohio State Fair. After the introductions, we decided to stay together as a group. It was a happy time and we talked about our relationships. I told him about my beautiful wife of eight years. My friend could not say the same. This psychological trauma that can be experienced after critical care has been addressed by the National Outreach Forum (2003) who suggested that services should be developed to address the implications of critical illness. Samuelson (2011) suggests that any negative emotions associated with critical care can be counterbalanced with memories that reinforce safety, control and trust. This is a useful point to consider in Lily case, who fortunately had the time to talk through her worries concerning continual dialysis treatment with the staff on the ward, who were able to convince her she was in the safest possible hands and that continuing her dialysis treatment would be the best option. Power Of Artificial Intelligence The power of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is growing at an alarmingly dangerous rate and has the potential to take over the world if we do not come together as a whole and put regulations on the usage of it. Artificial Intelligence is defined as The capability of a machine to imitate intelligent human behavior (Merriam Webster). As we know Artificial intelligence now, it is fairly simple for the uses that we have for it, such as SIRI on Apple devices, AI controlled video game opponents, and Google s search algorithms predicting what you are going to type into its search bar. That is only the beginning of Artificial Intelligence s many capabilities. Global militaries are researching and developing technology for war that uses AI, car manufacturers are teaching AI how to drive cars by itself, IBM uses its AI creation Watson to help businesses make decisions and grow, and thousands of other major companies and powerful nations are using it in many unique ways. It contains many different unique parts, but the main uses are: Learning, Reasoning, Perception, Reasoning, Problem solving, and using Natural Language (Copeland 2017). We need to regulate or eliminate the use of AI in war around the globe, stabilize the economy after implementation of AI, and reduce or eliminate the inequality caused by it. AI controlled killing machines used in warfare, sounds cool, right? They might sound like quite the sight to see, but what happens when they become smart enough and decide to turn against the people who created them and are using them for their own gain? How do we stop them? That is one question that many people have, but none seemed to know the answer. What are the ethics behind using robots to kill people? For example, is it not just as bad as a government that has chemical weapons, that uses them against people that do not? None of the government s forces are harmed, yet thousands of people are harmed and killed from the weapons, and it only takes one fighter jet and pilot to drop the bomb. It is the same with the AI controlled robots, they could be deployed halfway across the world, yet be controlled by someone on the complete other side of earth, without any threat of danger or harm.
