2. Cameras
• Cannon 550D
• This was a really good quality camera used in my photo shoot. I could
change the lenses for different styles of pictures.
• 50mm f1.8 aperture lens (I used this up in London), depth of field, this
blurred the background of my photos, and just focused on the models
making the focus of the picture on them rather than blurring into the
background.
• 18-55 f3.5-5.6 zoom lens (studio and in London) allowed me to get good
quality close up shots. I could get really good profile pictures of each model
which I could then edit to cut them together to look closer in my magazine.
3. Studio Equipment
• Interfit stellar X studio flash lights. These flashed onto my models and made them more
visible.
• White Screen, I can now photo shop my images to have a transparent background. This is
good for my magazine because I can edit photos and layer them up. It also made my
models stand out against the background because the white was a very neutral colour.
• Black Screen. I changed to this half way through my photo shoot to give a different feel
to the images I took. This made them look darker and more mysterious. This went with
the feel of my magazine as it is Indie music which can be quite dark music.
• Neewer RT16 wireless flash trigger so I didn’t have to manually create a flash for every
photo I took. This sped up my photo taking process and made the flashes of all the lights
in sync to create a well lit photo.
4. Software
• InDesign – I used this to creat my magazine. It was difficult for me to use at
the start but I got used to the programme and in the end I was comfortable
using InDesign. I was good to use because it allowed me to build my
magazine so I could have text and images all different sizes and have some
over laying the other.
• Photoshop – I used this to manipulate and edit my photos. I could cut out
the background of my images and make them transparent and then use
this to put multiple images together on my magazine to make my models
look closer. I could also change the tone of the picture by making it either
lighter or darker. Another thing I did on photo shop was giving my models
clearer skin to make my images look more professional.
