Human Factors of XR: Using Human Factors to Design XR Systems
Ques 6
1. WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNED ABOUT
TECHNOLOGIES FROM THE PROCESS OF
CONSTRUCTING YOUR MAGAZINE?
Question 6
2. •
For the photo shoot of my magazine, I had to use a professional camera of which i was really not familiar
with. I used the Canon 1100D series. My photos had to be of top quality so learning how to use camera
professionally is essential.
•
Receiving help from a friend I was able to quickly understand the functions of the camera. Such as the
focusing lens and different effects that could be applied to the photographs, which made the process of
taking photos much easier.
•
I had to be aware of my surrounds, e.g. The background, and how it would affect the actual picture. I knew i
had to get my model in front of a plain background. Luckily, I was able to use a white wall in my room. I mad
sure the camera was always in focus of the whole shot, otherwise some parts of the model would of been
blurred out and deemed inappropriate for the magazine.
•
In my room, where I had took the photos, the lighting was not so important. However it was a key factor of
taking a detailed picture. I had turned my bedroom light off and purely relied on the flash of the camera
which actually worked out perfectly as the model was light brightly.
•
If the photos were too dark, or were out of focus, they would not be suitable for the actual magazine as the
jewellery and clothing would not be able to be seen. Which is apart of the connotation of the Hip Hop Genre
HOW WAS THE PHOTOGRAPHY &
LIGHTING?
3. The development of my music
magazine was carried out on Adobe
Photoshop CS6. When starting off, I
was anxious to use the software as I
was so unfamiliar with it and as we
were asked to produce a detailed
piece of media from it –from scratch- I
had my doubts. However I quickly
adapted to the nature of it and was
comfortable of the many tools. E.g. A
key factor was managing new layers
every time a new item was added on
to the page. This was a process that
was completely new to me as I was
only familiar with softwares such
Microsoft. E.g. Publisher, PowerPoint,
Word, etc.
Magic Wand- This tool allowed me to cut around the
background of the photos I had taken of my model so it
would just be him outstanding.
Text- This tool was important in every page as it allowed
me to write down information and also allowed me to
choose the different fonts for cover lines on my front
page, which is important for appealing to the audience
Effects- The effects within the text helped it stand out
even more, giving my magazine that hip-hop feel. Such
as the ‘Bevel & Emboss’ effect. I had to play around with
this first to get the hang of it.
Refine Edge- This tool relates to the pictures of my
model. This helped make the photos look a lot more
professional as it would neat out the edges and make
jewellery stand out even more.
HOW DID YOU COPE WITH THE USE OF
PHOTOSHOP?
4. From the start everything was a bit new, but as my model for my magazine was being very co operative I was able to get the appropriate pictures for my magazine. The idea of lighting was
a slight issue but it was quickly resolve by relying on the flash of the camera, which was really
lucky.
As Adobe Photoshop CS6 was completely new to me, I did come across a few minor
problems. However they were quickly resolved as I progressed through the course. Photoshop
didn’t in anyway prevent any of my ideas, but instead boosted them and help me to develop
them.
USING THIS TECHNOLOGY, WAS I
PREVENTED FROM BRINGING ACROSS ANY
CREATIVE IDEAS?
5. •
For my evaluation, I decided to use a variety of programs to display my creativity. As
using the same software would become unattractive on the blog. I discovered a variety of
programs to use. All the programs used are different from the usual essay that would of
been done on Microsoft word.
•
Prezi- A very advanced presentation site
•
Microsoft Office- Average presentation software
•
Slideshare- A website to upload presentations such as PowerPoint to be presented in a
new way
•
Stupeflix- Where you can create slideshows with added audio.
