• Internal 15-member Environmental Services Team oversees manure
management plans and application
• 4R Stewardship
• Sustainable food production―grain/feed/manure/grain

5. Green Farmstead Partners
• In May 2018, Iowa Select Farms announced a
partnership with CSIF’s Green Farmstead Partner
program
• All new company-owned finishers will have three rows
of trees and one row of shrubs around the barn
• Selected for their quality, hardiness, growth traits and
ability to serve as an effective windbreak
• 16 new farms―1,038 arbor vitaes, 851 dogwoods,
180 lilacs to date

• Wet-dry feeders decrease water wastage and manure volume
• Separation distances
• Manure injection
• Best Practices for air, mortality disposal and overall barn management
• Continued gains in efficiency and pig productivity
