Affects Of Weather On Deer Hunting
Effects of Weather on Deer Hunting Every year the fall brings in one of the biggest sports, hunting.
According to David Crook in his article How big is the Hunting Economy, there are about 13.7
million people or approximately six percent of the United States population that consider
themselves to be hunters. When all of these people get up the morning of opening day there is one
thing that affects the way that they hunt. Every avid hunter knows that they have to base their
huntingstyle off of the weather. The different factors of the weather such as the temperature, wind
speed, barometric pressure, and precipitation changes the way the deermove and can either make or
break a deer hunter s season. The movement of a whitetail deer changes according to the weather.
There are several different factors to consider when talking about the weather, but the one of the
leading factors is the temperature. Some people believe that the colder it is outside, the better the
hunting becomes. This is true until it gets so cold that the deer have to bed down and not move to
stay warm. When the temperature begins to drop down to about 35 degrees Fahrenheit, the deer
begin scrambling for food to prepare for winter and the rut. The rut is a deer s mating season. This
has the deer at a constant movement and makes for prime hunting. When the temperature begins to
change, the amount of movement of the deer begins to change also. If the temperature rises then

When the Spanish arrived at the Incan borders in 1528, the Incan empire spanned a great
distance, from Ancs Maya, Blue River, in Southern Columbia to the Maule River in Chile. The
Inca Empire originated from a tribe based in Cuzco under the rule of Pachacuti, the Incan leader
from 1438 to 1471/1472, Cuzco soon ended up being the capital of the Empire. Pachacuti s would
later rule the empire.
The Inca believed that harmony between the relationships of the human being, nature and gods
was truly essential. They had multiple gods, but the main god was Viracocha, the Inca even
considered their emperors as demi gods. They had several sacred objects and locations. The

On the 16th of November 1532, while the natives were in a celebration in Cajamarca, the Spanish
captured Atahualpa by surprise during the ensuing battle. When HuГЎscar was killed, the Spanish
tried and convicted Atahualpa of the murder, executing him by strangulation.
After the Spanish had risen to power and Atahualpa was executed, several of Atahualpa s generals
started rebelling against the Spanish. Quizquiz defended Cuzco from the Spaniards and Ruminahui
burned Quito instead of letting it fall into the enemies hands. Nevertheless, the Spanish remained in
power and within two years, they seemed to be in firm control. However, one of the Incas the
Spanish had enthroned was plotting against them. Manco Inca Yupanqui, one of Atahualpas and
HuГЎscars many brothers, led over 100,000 Incan warriors in an attack against the Spanish in
1536. He besieged Cuzco for more than six months and killed one of the Pizarro brothers before
he was forced away by Spanish reinforcements. He managed to escape and formed a rebel colony

the Spanish were destroying sacred lands, sacred objects, however they did not find the mountain

Social and Political Themes in the Movie Milk Essay
Extra Credit Assignment MILK 1. What are the main themes, politically and socially, that are
portrayed in the film? Milk is a biographical film based on the triumphs and struggles of Harvey
Milk. He was a gay rights activist and the first openly gay elected official in California. Socially,
the film addresses the discrimination homosexuals faced on a daily basis. (T)he normal majority ,
as labeled by Anita Bryant, inflicted prejudice upon the homosexual minority. The Castro , the
name of a street in an area often inhabited by homosexual bars and such places, portrays the clan
like social groupings. The entire neighborhood however was not friendly. A fellow merchant on

He also wanted to include blacks, Asians, and the disabled in a human rights movement. 3.
Choose 2 scenes from the film and discuss what is important about them. I was very bothered by
the comments Anita Bryant made during a televised speech that was shown in the film. She was
an orange juice sales woman who was working to repeal laws that protect homosexual human
rights; specifically in employment and housing. She described homosexuality as tearing down
the foundation of the family unit and compared gays to prostitutes and thieves. She tried to
convince the public that the traditional family was being threatened and that practicing or
accepting homosexuality was blasphemy. Although the scenes of Harvey Milk recording his
voice were split up throughout the film, I felt it to be the most powerful. Not only does he
address the substantial probability of being assassinated, he does so calmly and courageously.
He stated that, a gay activist is the target for someone who is insecure . As he did throughout his
encounters with all kinds of people, he also stated that he often broke the tension when giving a
speech to mostly straight men by telling a joke. Milk accomplished a lot for the gay rights
movement, one that is still fighting today, and he did so with integrity, hard work, and sporadic
humor. 4. What did you like best/ and or least about the film? What I liked best about the film was

The Chicago Board Of Education Meets
The Chicago Board of Education meets once a month to discuss issues relevant to Chicago Public
Schools, entertain public comments, and make policy and fiscal decisions. Often times the Board
meeting is held at Chicago Public Schools (CPS) central office at 10 a.m. However, both the
timing and location of the meeting on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 differed. The meeting was held at
Gwendolyn Brooks College Preparatory AcademyHigh School at 4:30 p.m. Gwendolyn Brooks is
located on the far south side of Chicago. Hosting the meeting at a CPS school has both positives
and negatives. By bolding the meeting at a school it allows for a less formal atmosphere in
addition to providing the opportunity to showcase some of the beautiful properties CPS
possesses. However, this particular school is not easily accessible by public transportation. This
may cause a problem for some stakeholders that would like to participate in the school board
meeting. Furthermore, 4:30 in the afternoon is an awkward time for a meeting as it is more
difficult to find childcare during the evening hours. Additionally, finding details regarding this
meeting was not easy. After a search was conducted on the CPS website, there was no mention of
the board meeting. Once redirected to the Chicago Board of Education Site, information regarding
the location of the meeting was supplied. However there wasn t a visible start time or information

Social Contract Theory Essay
Ethical Theory: Social Contract Theory The Social Contract Theory is the ethical theory concerning
the relationship between the citizen and the government. The chief architects of the theory include
Enlightenment thinkers and political theorists, Thomas Hobbes and John Locke whose theories
were foundational in the Founding Fathers establishment of the United States. The theory chiefly
focuses on the need for some type of regulating body over the affairs of mankind due to the nature
of unregulated human behavior. It also focuses on and explains a different means by which the
legitimacy of the State is gained, a theory that differed from monarchical legitimacy and is based on
a contractual agreement. Hobbes theory of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The practical application of this debate comes in the form of social welfare policy and politics
and class disparity. Those who are in favor of social welfare policies argue from the position that
this is a basic right that should be given and guaranteed when it cannot be achieved without
assistance. Those who would argue against economic justice and basic needs being met are those
that would take an individualistic approach. Throughout history, there have always been
disproportionate concentrations of resources among people. Objectively, with a smaller amount of
people controlling the majority of the resources which creates a large scarcity or resource
insecurity in a much larger swathe of the population. The argument against social welfare policy
and supporting those takes the stance that people should not be given things when they have the
capability to achieve those things. This argument is a microcosmic argument in that it does not
examine the systems in which these people prepare and live. The stance against welfare policy
claims that it will promote laziness and allows people to fail if they do not have the internal drive
to achieve their needs, if they will not work for those needs then they must not be actual needs. The
other aspect of this argument

The Role Of Religion In Medieval Japan
Introduction:
The role of tradition within religion in medieval Japanese society was of great significance.
Shinto and Zen Buddhism were two of the major religions practiced in medieval Japan. Shinto
was mainly concerned with daily life, while Zen Buddhism prepared the people for the life to
come. The samurai also followed an important code called Bushido, a form of warrior philosophy.
The ancient Japanese religions helped people understand the universe and also provided a
connection between the physical world on earth and the spiritual world.
Shintoism:
Firstly, the traditions within Shintoism were important to help the Japanese people to connect with
their ancestors and the nature around them. The word Shinto itself means way of the gods. It is as
old as the Japanese culture and was the only religion in Japan until the 6th century. According to
the Shinto religion, there exists a basic life force called kami. Kami are close to human beings
and respond to human prayers. They can influence the course of natural forces, and human
events. Shinto tradition says that there are eight million kami in Japan. Due to their deep respect
and love for nature and Japan itself, many shrines were set up in places of natural beauty.
Followers went to pray here to receive good fortune and samurai would often go to the shrines to
pray for victory before and after battle. Shinto s traditions involved having a clean lifestyle. They
washed and bathed everyday which made most of japan a fresh

There still has a discussion with two things but most of people believe that the powerful of a pen
is so enormously larger than the sword. A sharp edged sword cannot complete , create , and
change the great effect as it is just a weapon which is used in a war with the power of hatred and
fighting reason. Nevertheless , what a thing that sword cannot do but the forceful pen can make
it perfect. It is hard to deny that pen could give both the bad and worth side to us. Our past and
present are full of the example to ensure that pen is better than sword , for example , many of
writers have changed the world by using their pen to write and break the barrier of the old
knowledge. In conclusion , the powerful of a pen is better than sword in any purpose since pen
can create , ruin and change the world with a second tips of the pen. However , sword offers
only the bad effect to our life because the main capability of sword is designed for killing and
protection which causes lot of violence. In addition , it can conclude that the different between a

Practical And Experiential Knowledge
A major criteria that separates practical knowledge from that of theoretical, is the former s vast use
in the everyday walks of life. Practical knowledge also ensures an accurate application of the
learned skills and techniques unlike that in theoretical knowledge. As Rohtas Goel, CMD, Omaxe
Ltd. explains, Both practical and theoretical experiences go hand in hand and each has their own
significance. At every level, in an organisation, where theoretical experience helps the individual to
comprehend the basic notions, practical knowledgeenables them to execute plans and strategies in
the most effective manner . For example, well established firms today are eyeing and admitting

like travelling opens up our horizons and perspectives, we achieve whole education rather than one

OremпїЅs Self-Care Deficit Theory And Roy s Adaptation Model
Compare and Contrast of Grand Theories: Orem s Self Care Deficit Theory and Roy s
Adaptation Model Nursing theories play an integral role in guiding practice, education, and
research. Many different theoretical perspectives are maintained in the field of nursing due to
the diversity of the field, no single theory is able to account for all nursing knowledge. The
purpose of this paper is to compare and contrast two nursing theories that have produced a
profound impact on nursing practice. The theories being compared are Dorothea Orem s Self
Care Deficit Nursing Theory (SCDNT) and Sister Callista Roy s Adaptation Model (RAM).
Both theorists have profoundly influenced nursing science, research, practice, and education.
Similarly, both of these theories fall into the category of Grand nursing theories which are the
most complex theory level and explain broad areas of the discipline, as well as being the
broadest in scope (McEwen Wills, 2014). Background Dorothea Orem is a notable figure in the
nursing community, receiving several Honorary Doctorate degrees (McEwen Wills, 2014). Orem
was a member of the Board of Health in Indiana from 1949 until 1957 (McEwen Wills, 2014). She
received her first form of nursing education at the Providence Hospital School of Nursing in
Washington, DC. She continued to educate her self by attaining her master s degree in nursing
from Catholic University in 1945. Orem experienced nursing from both practical and educational

Signs and symptoms of alcoholism (alcohol dependence)
Alcoholism is the most severe form of problem drinking. Alcoholism involves all the symptoms of
alcohol abuse, but it also involves another element: physical dependence on alcohol. If you rely on
alcohol to function or feel physically compelled to drink, you re an alcoholic.
Tolerance: The 1st major warning sign of alcoholism
Do you have to drink a lot more than you used to in order to get buzzed or to feel relaxed? Can
you drink more than other people without getting drunk? These are signs of tolerance, which can
be an early warning sign of alcoholism. Tolerance means that, over time, you need more and more
alcohol to feel the same effects.
Withdrawal: The 2nd major warning sign of alcoholism
Do you need a drink to steady the shakes in the morning? Drinking to relieve or avoid
withdrawal symptoms is a sign of alcoholism and a huge red flag. When you drink heavily, your
body gets used to the alcohol and experiences withdrawal symptoms if it s taken away. These
include: * Anxiety or jumpiness * Shakiness or trembling * Sweating * Nausea and vomiting *
Insomnia | * Depression * Irritability * Fatigue * Loss of appetite * Headache |
In severe cases, withdrawal from alcohol can also involve hallucinations, confusion, seizures, fever,
and agitation. These symptoms can be dangerous, so talk to your doctor if you

Women Roles In The Progressive Era
Women s Active Role Throughout the Gilded Age and Progressive Era, gender roles began to
change as women became active participants in American society. For instance, women became
active in expressing their views against alcohol and pushed for the prohibition and temperance.
Organizations such as The Women s Christian Temperance Union (WCTU), argued that alcohol led
to societal problems. Male and female reformers banned together to argue that alcohol was immoral
and causing a negative impact on women. Women, if married, would experience an abusive, violent
drunk husband who neglected his family and gambled his money away. Thus, the evils of alcohol
became part of the progressive agenda that eventually led to the passage of the 18th amendment.
Along with prohibition, women also took active roles in acquiring suffrage. In The Politics of Good
Government, Gayle Gullett argued that in the California Women s Movement built a nonpartisan
broad suffrage umbrella that sought to enhance their special interests. Middle class women assured
their male allies that women s enfranchisement was essential to progressivism. Furthermore, middle
and working class women argued that suffrage would not only protect working women but women
in general. Working class men and women also united to seek reform. Thus, through these
heterogeneous groups, the California Women s Movement built a unified coalition that led to
women s suffrage in 1911. [46] As America entered the First Great War, the

Core Concepts In Sociology
After watching Core Concepts in Sociology, the primary concern presented is that, we as human
beings are absolutely lost and unaware of different cultural standards and social norms. In my
estimation, few individuals try to fathom the culture outside of middle class white America.
Several individuals do not want a big house, with a picket white fence, or a new car every three
years. Societies fail to comprehend that the genderroles placed on men and women mostly occur in
middle class America. In my assessment, societies do not pay attention to the gender role of a poor
class black woman. One can make the argument that a misunderstanding of cultures and norms is
the leading cause of the problems in today s world. Although, some may consider that we are
moving towards a global culture, most individuals believe we are further apart. In addition to being
absolutely lost and unaware of different cultures, the organizations that are socializing us may be
corrupt.
As Americans, we are Ethnocentric, which is a major issue in my opinion. If people do not dress
like Americans or value the things we value, they are considered substandard. We are totally lost
and unaware of different culture standards and social norms. For instance, some Americans

Why Shouldn T Donald Trump Become President
ВЁ Why Donald Trump Should Not Become PresidentВЁ
America is one of the most advanced and diverse countries ran off of freedom to date. We get
what we want through government by voting for what we think is best for our country. Do you
think Donald Trump is whatЕ› best for our country? Donald Trump seems to be planning to ruin
the great amount of progress America has made over the past one hundred years. Basically what
iбёї telling you is Donald Trump definitely should not become president because he s dangerous, he
s racist, and he s not intelligent enough to become president.
Donald Trump is too dangerous for the presidency. He s so dangerous and self destructive that he
d turn America into a domestic and international joke. His character is similar to Silvio
Berlusconi, who is a controversial power hungry billionaire of Italy, whose indictment ending
reign of greed, corruption, and sleaze sent Italy to its darkest days. ВЁPresident TrumpВЁ is

How People Take Different Ways To Help Others Essay
How People Take Different Ways to Help Others in Different Societies Being born and raised in
China, I chose to spend most of my past five years in an Alabaman high school by myself, and
interestingly, despite that I am clearly more of a Chinese than an American, every time when I
return to China for summer holiday, I found myself flabbergasted by virtually everything (I
seem to only realize the cultural differences when I return to where I belong.) However, most of
these surprises did not only remind me of the differences between U.S. and China, but also
enabled me to keep myself up with the Chinese society and learn how I should adapt to the
differences between cultures. Such a cultural shock took place last summer in Shenzhen, China.
It was a unique summer. Since my high school dismissed earlier than most others, and my
college would start after most others, I had a surprising four month long break between schools.
This, combining with my brand new U.S. high school diploma, provided me the perfect
opportunity to get a part time job that requires some English proficiency in China. Besides, I
discovered that I could easily commute to work in places far from home since the metro system
in Shenzhen had greatly expanded. It was the First day of work at about eight a.m. I hopped into
the train, and was too excited to sit anywhere calmly. The train cabin looked mostly white, and it
had the scent of new out of factory furniture. The steel seats were initially occupied by

What Phony Mean To Me Research Paper
One of the greatest regrets in life is being what others would want you to be, rather than being

say it because I recognize that there are parts of me that are phony, so some people never see my

parents, and my coaches. Around these people I change the way I talk or the way I act, to show a
personality that is not naturally mine. On the other hand, I feel like most people are the least

could genuinely care less about, but I m not going to be that guy that walks away from a
conversation with a person that he barely sees. Also, when I talk with my family, it is a
conversation that is more mature than a conversation I would have with friends. Now don t get
me wrong, I have plenty of good conversations with my family, but during some talks, I begin to
act phony. The phoniness is a result of my elevated maturity, so I keep a favorable reputation

It is not as hard to figure out as in Walk Two Moons. The story of Walk Two Moons is about a
girl going to her mother s grave and telling her grandparents about her life on the way there. Here
the foreshadowing is not evident until the end of the book, she mentions her mother as if she is
still alive and the author mentions her mother going to Idaho by bus, but not the crash, and that
the main character s father like Mrs. Cadaver, but she does not mention how main character s
mother sat in the seat next to Mrs. Cadaver, and that the father uses her as a connection to the
past. Of Mice and Men, on the other hand, uses foreshadowing in many instances. The many
remarks about what happened in Weed, how Lennie kills mice and dogs earlier in the book,
Curly constantly picking fights with Lennie, and George telling him to hide in the brush many
times, and Lennie saying the ranch is a bad place shows how he could possibly kill something
more intelligent, a human, and that how he will most likely have to hide in the brush eventually,
if you follow Georges thinking. These instances should make it clear that Lennie will eventually
mess up again and have to hide in the brush. The reactions of Curly to Lennie killing his wife is
also foreseeable, Curly dislikes Lennie and most probably uses this as an excuse to get rid of him,
even though is probably angry too. Using these scenarios, if the reader pays attention to

My Future Essay
My future is something I often think about. Most often, the questions that arise include the
common doubts of Am I doing this right? , or even the occasional midnight philosophical
questions such as Why are we here? , and so on. For the purpose of this essay, I will focus on the
factors that have allowed me to reach this point in my life and how these factors influenced and
continue to influence me, in order to provide me with a visualization of my future.
Factors that contributed to my current life choices include the desperate want to be something
greater, as well as to experience the world in ways some could only dream of. I study hard,
allowing for me to have the possibility of an early graduation. I dream big, allowing me with the
imagination to draw up plans for myself and my future. I work hard, allowing me the strength and
vision to execute my plans for the future. The way that I was raised has greatly benefited me. My
parents have taught me that anything and everything is possible as long as you work hard for it
despite the what others may tell you or even if the odds are against you. Another factor that led to
my current life, is the amount of time I allow myself to think about my plans and refine them. This
is extremely important because, without a solid, flexible, long term plan, you could get lost in
dreaming about the future, and end up not accomplishing anything. Hence, many aspects of my life
have been planned out with not one or two possible alternatives

Essay about Japan s Economic Slump
Japan s Economic Slump
1. Introduction ===============
In only fifty years, Japan has moved from poverty to the highest levels of income, from economic
insignificance to leadership from the import of technology and capital to being a major source of
their export, from less developed status to the lead of economic position after the United States.
After being the best performer in the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development
(OECD) during the forty years, Japan has experienced economic stagnation since the beginning of
the 1990s.
The revival of the Japanese economy is of great importance not only to Japan but also to the well
being of global economy. Therefore, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reasons for this include high rates of both personal savings and privates sector facilities
investment, labour force with strong work ethic, ample supply of cheap oil, innovative technology,
and effective government intervention in private sector industries (Asianinfo). Japan was also a
major beneficiary of the swift growth attained by the post war world economy under the free trade
advanced by the International Monetary Fund and the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade.
The industry sector was and still is the main contributor to the Japanese economy.
By the late 1960s, Japan became the first post war era nation classified as less developed to
achieve developed status (Asianinfo). In 2000, Japan s gross domestic product (GDP) was
$4.648 trillion, which represent approximately 15% of the world GDP. Its percapita GDP
income in 2000 was $36,634, which is one of the highest in the world (Japan Finance ministry).
Apart from the above, the real economic growth between 1960s and 1980s had been excellent.
The average real economic growth during the 1960s was 10%. In the 1970s, the average rate was
5% at which time the Japanese economy was considered as a matured economy and followed by
4% during the 1980s (Bigsten, 2004, p.3). Then in 1991, the

Assessments are valuable because not only do they give the consultant a starting point in their
treatment plan, but it could also be beneficial for an athlete to see where they began and where
they are as the sessions progress. As McCann, Jowdy, and Van Raalte (2002) also point out, it is
important that you have in writing you has access to the assessments and who can view them to
keep any potential confidentiality issues at bay. Confidentiality is also something that will need
to be addressed if a coach is hiring me for his client or a parent his hiring me for their young
athlete. One thing that Dr. Carr, an alumnus of the program, taught me in an interview I did with
him for our introduction to counseling class last year is to always have confidentiality outlined
in your contract. For example, Dr. Carr says that when the front office or the coach keeps
consistently asking what is going on in sessions even though he has explained confidentiality
issues, he can default to his own contract and explain that he can be fired and he is not willing to
risk that. He also says that if the athlete wishes to share with the coach, what the athlete is willing
to share, when, and to whom is outlined in a written consent. In addition, Dr. Carr says he also
makes it a point to receive verbal consent as well. It will also need to be made known to the athlete

Food Stamps Argumentative Essay
Argumentative Essay In 2014, almost seventy billion dollars was spent on the food stamp
program. Some may say that s a significant amount of money compared to how much the United
States owes in debt. Therefore, there should be more restrictions on who qualifies to get food
stamps, and also on how long people can receive them. If people are unemployed, then they
should have applied to at least three different jobs before being able to apply for food stamps. If
people do have a job, then of course they must be making below poverty level to qualify. The only
exceptions should be made to full time high school, community college, or university students, or

The only reason for why a person receiving food stamps cannot pass a drug test, is because the
drug being used is for medical reasons only. If one must take the drug test and not pass, then a
warning shall be given, along with two extra drug tests given monthly. If the same person does
not pass the second time, food stamps should be cut by twenty percent; if they cannot pass the
third test given, stamps should be cut by an additional thirty percent. Finally, if the same person
has failed four consecutive drug test, or four within three months, food stamps should be cut out
completely with a four month penalty before reapplying. The last restriction that should be
applied to food stamps is how long you are able to continue receiving them. A student would be
to receive stamps as long as they are enrolled in school. A parent, or household with children, can
receive food stamps for the child until he/she has graduated, or turned eighteen if the child has
dropped out of school. This prevents someone from dropping out of high school, still living with a
parent, and the parent receiving food stamps for a twenty one year old. An adult with no children
receiving food stamps should be able to reapply in six eight

The Use Of Satire In The Canterbury Tales
What is satire? Is satire a Greek mythological beast, half man, half goat that thrives on trickery and
deceit. Is Satire just another boring part of literature? No, although satire is a part of literature, it
most definitely is not boring. It can be used where other forms of literature cannot. Dictionary.com
defines satireas the use of humor, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize people s
stupidity or vices, particularly in the context of contemporary politics and other topical issues. For
example, in the time of Chaucer there was uniformity in the church. Chaucer couldn t just come out
and call friars and pardoners out for their crimes. He would be made an outcast by his church just

He never clearly says he thinks she is ridiculous because he uses satire to say it without saying it.

Terrorism Is Terrorism
In this modern era, being exposed to many sources of news media, we find out how terrorism is
growing and devastating many parts of the world. Thinking of terrorism, people tend to see images
of intensive war, mass killing, ISIS or 9/11 attack. But what is really terrorism? And how does it
happen?
Terrorism is defined as the unlawful use of violence and intimidation, especially against civilians,
as a mean to create terror or fear, in the pursuit of political, religious, or ideological aims. This
definition fits the images we see on the news, or in other words, images that are readily available
in our mind, bombings, fire, terror, enduring people, and aggressive terrorist. As availability
heuristic is not always accurate, this general definition also does not tell us the whole picture of the
reality and how terrorism arises.
We usually err to think that terrorists are born evil and destructive, so it is their internal disposition
that rules the actions. For that reason, we underestimate the influence of the situation (religious
conflict, for example). The fundamental attribution error first explains why and how we
misunderstand terrorism.
Most problems of terrorism can be interpreted using social psychology to reveal how people and
individuals interact, relate, and impact each other. It is shocking to realize how similar terroristic
issues are to ordinary thoughts of everyday life, with the only difference that it is taken to the
extreme. The in group bias explains why

King Tutankhamun
King Tutankhamun (1343 1325 B.C.)
King Tutankhamun lived over 3,300 years ago during a period known as the New Kingdom.
This period of time was called the New Kingdom because it was when the pharaohs united upper
and lower Egypt into one kingdom with the capital being Memphis near current day Cairo. The
reason I chose to write a research paper on King Tut is because he is one of the most well known
pharaohs of ancient Egypt. Tutankhamun is most well known only by the discovery of his intact
tomb in 1922 by Howard Carter and Lord Carnarvon.

Not much was known about these tombs and how they were arranged until the British expedition
led by Carter and Carnarvon unearthed the untouched intact tomb of King Tutankhamun in 1922.
This discovery quickly made King Tutankhamun one of the most famous pharaohs in the history of
Egypt. It also changed many of our beliefs as to the mummification process and how the tombs
were arranged.
Carter and Carnarvon discovered King Tutankhamun s tomb in the East Valley of the Valley of the
Kings. It has been recreated several times in museums around the world. The tomb was actually
quite small for a Pharaoh. It was probably built for someone of lesser importance but at the pharaoh
s unexpected death was rushed into modification to accommodate the pharaoh. The tomb is
composed of four chambers: the annex, antechamber, burial chamber, and treasury. The burial
chamber contains wall paintings as well as the coffin of King Tutankhamun.
Before the opening of the tomb novelist Mari Corelli gave a public warning that there would be
dire consequences for anyone who entered the sealed tomb. Then just seven weeks after the official

Daniell Malico The Ring Summary
In the article The Ring, author Danielle Malico paints a very vivid picture of what it would be
like to actually be in the boxing ring as a fighter. In her thesis within the opening paragraph,
Malico states Many know what it is like to be a spectator, but few know the fighter s experience
(Malico, n.d., p. 135). This thesis is stated clearly, and it is a fact that few actually know what the
fighter experiences. The thesis gives the reader an indication of where the rest of the article is
headed next. Starting in the next paragraph, the reader is able to visualize the experience in their
minds as they read. Almost everyone has seen a boxingmatch, at least on television or on an internet

As this panorama is being painted, the reader begins to visualize the ring lights, the referee and
fighters, the ring itself in the center; even though Malico doesn t describe these particular details.
She then paints a clearer picture of what is within the ring, and narrows the visualization down to
the perspective of the fighter; as if to bring the consciousness of the reader visualizing the scene
into the body of the fighter. Malico describes feeling of how her body feels and the sensations of
the guard in her mouth, which causes excess saliva to run down her chin. She goes on to
describe the smell of rubber and sweat from the mat, the description of her opponent, the
confidence of the other fighter coming at her and her slight hesitation which she must overcome
as the fighters feel each other out; further solidifying the visualization into a first person view.
Even the description of being in the corner after the first round is complete with sensory details.
The reader is able to imagine these sensations as if they were the one experiencing them.
Obviously, Malico does an exceptional job at giving her readers a sense of

William Wordsworth s The Prelude
In William Wordsworth s poem, The Prelude, he describes how he imagines London to be. He is
very descriptive when he touches on what he expects upon arrival to the city, and then realizes
London was not the paradise he alluded to earlier in his poem. William Wordsworth use of imagery
and diction reflect the city s natural environment, which he also uses in order to convey his feelings
of anticipation and dissatisfaction with what he has discovered. In the beginning of The Prelude,
William Wordsworths use of exclamation marks in the first few lines reveals his enthusiasm about
London. He say s, Oh, wondrous power of words, by simple faith/ Licensed to take the meaning
that we love! /Vauxhall and Ranelagh! (119 121) The author states his love for the power of
words, and moves on to talk about the gardens of Vauxhall and Ranelagh. These lines continue the
author s excitement, and he addresses London as if it were a person. The author establishes a
relationship with the city based on what he has heard and his writing reflects the passion he feels
towards the city.
The author describes the city that he has heard so much of and calls attention to what appeals the
most to him. He gives an account of its green grooves, gorgeous ladies, and fireworks magical to

Burnap Brothers Research Paper
As a result of the Burnap brothers great influence on him and his experiences at the Chester
Academy, Blanchard decided to attend Middlebury College, which was Burnap s alma mater,
from 1828 1832. At Middlebury College, he was very active in the Philomathesian Literary Society
and studied parliamentary procedure and learned how to debate. He also published, The
Undergraduate, the first of many newspapers he would start throughout his lifetime. After
graduation, at the age of twenty one in 1832, he became the preceptor at Plattsburg Academy in the
state of New York, where he worked to improve the education system and began a campaign that
advocated for the immediate end of slavery.

During this time he and Mary were separated, geographically, but they still maintained their
relationship, and as a result, his proposal of marriage was sent to her in the mail. They were
married on September 17th, 1838 in Middlebury, Vermont .
Blanchard was required to travel on a regular basis because of his involvement in the anti slavery
movement. His journeys provided him with many opportunities and eventually led to several
academic offers. In 1843, Jonathan traveled to London as a delegate to the world s Anti Slavery
Convention. The next year he traveled to Quincy, Illinois to deliver a commencement address to
the Adelphi Theopolis Mission Institute. From 1845 to 1857 he was the president of Knox
College in Illinois. In 1860 he turned down the offer for the presidency at Iowa College and a
nomination to run for congress. He did, however, accept the offer to be the president of the
Illinois Institute, which would eventually become Wheaton College. His wife, Mary, died in 1890
in East Las Vegas, New Mexico while traveling in support of Jonathan s involvement in politics.
Two years later, Blanchard died peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, May 14th, 1892 in the home
of Herman and Julia Fischer .
Jonathan Blanchard became the president of Wheaton College in 1860, a pivotal time in American

Faden Vs Disney Essay
The purpose of copyright law is to protect a creator and their original work from being used
without appropriate reasoning falling under fair use, as well as being used without permission
from the creator. Fair use can be defined as a doctrine that allows portions of a copyrighted work
to be used without the creator s permission as long as it is only for commentary, parody,
criticization, or educational purposes.
In the fictional case of Professor Faden versus Walt Disney Studios, I have decided to take the side
of Professor Faden. Professor Faden claims fair use in this case. He claims the purpose of his
video, containing small portions of Disney s copyrighted movies, to be a display of education and
remix. Those two, do, in fact, fall under ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To determine a case of fair use, all of those factors must be taken into consideration before the
judge may make a final ruling.
When looking into the first factor of fair use, purpose and character used, Faden states his point
that his video is used for educational purposes. When you actually go back and watch the video
for yourself, you see immediately that the video is clearly made in good character with good
intentions, as well as that the nature of the work is educationally based, which brings us to the
second factor in determining the fair use of a copyright case.
The second factor in the determination of fair use is indeed the nature of the copyrighted work,
as mentioned previously. As Professor Fade stated, the nature of his video was for educational
purposes, which can be observed rather obviously. He also stated that his video could fall into
the category of remix. A remix is a new version or rendition of a previously existing work, most
common in the music industry. Professor Faden s Fair(y) Use Tale, may comprehensively be seen
to be a remix, proving to obey the second factor of fair use

The Effects On Europe From Humanism And The Growth Of Trade
The Effects On Europe From Humanism And The Growth Of Trade Humanism and the growth
of trade affected the Europeans greatly. The growth of trade made the growth of cities and the
reemergence of a strong merchant class. They opened new roads. Humanism stressed the study
of classical subjects. New ways of thinking and the growth of trade made a nice era to live in. At
first warfare and invasions began to stop occurring because the feudal system started to break
down. Traders started to feel safe to travel long distances. That is when trade began to grow, and
a strong merchant class was made. The cities started to grow. Cities were the main place to have
trade happen. Traders began to travel on the Silk Roads. The Silk Roads are an ancient

Did Thomas Jefferson Abandon His Ethics for the Lousiana...
Did Thomas Jefferson give up his deeply held political values in order to purchase the Louisiana
Territory from the French (P. 2)? This is the major question that has led to much debate within the
early history of America (P. 1). Some historians argue that Thomas Jefferson did, in fact, throw
away his commitment to states rights and constructionism by the large purchase of Louisiana for
the U.S. (P.1). On the other hand, some believe that President Jefferson supported his political
beliefs, the fortification of the republican government, with the Louisiana Purchase(P. 1).

13). In When the Ends Justify the Means, Barry J. Balleck debates that President Jefferson did not
abandon his political ethics by purchasing the Louisiana Territory (P. 14). Balleck states that the
Louisiana Purchase was the greatest achievement of Thomas Jefferson s presidency (P. 14). With
the addition of the new territory to the United States, President Jefferson secured the nation for
generations, if not centuries to come (P. 14). Jefferson was confident that purchasing the Louisiana
Territory would encourage the development of an upright Republican populace (P. 14).
Surprisingly, he had many reservations about his authority to purchase Louisiana, but that did not
stop him from laying the treaty before Congress (P. 19). He also knew that, by purchasing
Louisiana, the Federalists power might be lost, but he still pushed forward with the treaty (P. 19).
Although many historians criticize President Jefferson for giving up his most visible political
convictions by purchasing Louisiana, he knew that it would double the size of the United States
and ensure much land expansion for the country (P. 20). He strongly believed that the new territory
was essential to national security (P. 21). In President Jefferson s mind, purchasing Louisiana
secured the virtues of Republicanism in an Empire of Liberty (P. 22). The Louisiana

Imagery In The Great Gatsby Analysis
Imagery is used in writing when a writer trying to emphasis a specific key element, or portray a
clear picture for the reader to understand. Throughout the book, The Great Gatsby, F. Scott
Fitzgerald uses imagery to paint a vivid picture for the reader. Imagery is used to describe specific
key elements of a story which is shown in The Great Gatsby. Imagery was portrayed for the reader
especially when it comes to the setting and characters. In the movie however, imagery was shown
both similar and differently. The movie focuses a lot on the setting and charters but also shows

scene the movie portrays the blue garden with tons of couples and guest dancing along the blue

the waste land. This is a valley of ashes, a fantastic farm where ashes grow like wheat into ridges

Iran Foxtrot Essay
The Iranian Foxtrot The 2009 Iranian presidential election and its aftermath is characterized by a
strange power dynamic between Ayatollah Khamenei s and the people where Khamenei is
constantly testing their reaction to his dictatorial action, seeing what he can get away with. After
choosing the president with no regard for the votes and levying threats at anyone who protested,
Khamanei listened to what the opposition has to say, allowing them to voice their opinion in many
circumstances. This pattern in Khamenei s action seems to reoccur in the elections aftermath,
creating a cycle in which he carries out an outrageously repressive action, and then is attentive to
the people dissent towards it. This constant pushing and pulling dynamic... Show more content on

During the height of the protests on January 14th, 2010, pro reform professor at Shahid Beheshti
University Javid Etaat s challenged Khamenei directly in a broadcasted debate. He argued that
calling the Green Movement a velvet revolution implied that the regime was admitting to being a
dictatorship, because a velvet revolution by definition characterizes revolts against dictatorships. By
issuing this challenge over the airwaves, Etaat forced the government to either admit people cannot
achieve their goals through the institutions the system offers...and face real revolution, or allow the
constitution its democratic principles to prevail (39). Sure enough, Khamenei stopped calling the
protests a velvet revolution and started calling them fatneh, or troubles. He started treating them as
such too. Following a situation where Khamenei was initially suppressing the voice of the
opposition, he ultimately returned to an attentive role and responded to the people s

Hydrostatic Force on a Plane Surface
September 26, 2003
CVEN 3313 Theoretical Fluid Mechanics
Module#1:
1 1. OBJECTIVE
The purpose of this module is to investigate hydrostatic forces on a plane surface under partial and
full submersion.
2 2. DESCRIPTION
The apparatus shown in Figure 1 will be used. It consists of a quarter circle block attached to a
cantilevered arm with a rectangular surface on the other end. The pivot point on the arm
corresponds to the center of radius of the block. With no water in the tank, and no weights on the
scale, the arm is horizontal. As weights are added one by one to the scales, water can be added to
the tank so that the hydrostatic force balances the weights and bring the arm back to horizontal.
3 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Note on your table when the plane surface is no longer fully submerged.
6 4. RESULTS ANALYSIS
1) Derive equations for the mass (Mtheoretical) that balances the hydrostatic force for the partially
submerged case. (i.e. h less than a) Mtheoretical = f(a, b, g, k, h, L, Оіw)
2) Derive equations for the mass (Mtheoretical) that balances the hydrostatic force for the fully
submerged case. (i.e. h greater than a) Mtheoretical = f(a, b, g, k, h, L, Оіw)
3) Compute Mtheoretical for each value of h you measured. Tabulate h, Mactual, Mtheoretical, and
other data you obtained.
4) Plot Mactual vs h and Mtheoretical vs h on the same graph (h on the x axis.) What does the
shape of the graph indicate about the hydrostatic force for each case (partially and fully submerged)?
5) Plot Mactual vs Mtheoretical .
7 5. DISCUSSION
1) Compare and discuss actual and theoretical results. Are they similar? If there is any discrepancy,
what are possible sources of error?
2) State qualitatively why an incremental change in mass (i.e. 50 g) for the fully submerged case
results in a different change in height, О”h, than the same incremental change in mass for the
partially submerged case.
3) In this experiment, only the forces on the plane surface were considered. Do the hydrostatic
forces on the curved surface of the quarter circle block affect the measurement? State why or why

The Meaning Of Coming Of Age Essay
The statement coming of age means to me that you are given more responsibility to do different
things, you are expected to be more mature and more trust is handed to you. These are just a few
of the things that are expected of you when you are coming of age because you are getting closer
to being a responsible, mature and trustworthy adult. The reason that I think you are given more
responsibility when you are coming of age is because you are getting older and about ready to
move out of the house, and when you do there won t be any excuses for not doing things that you
are supposed to do because it s on you for not doing what you are supposed to do. With that, you
are given more and more responsibility until you come of age to get you ready for the real world....

Being mature means you have to know when to stop arguing and to respect others. You will be
expected to act like an adult even if you aren t one because if you don t learn how to before you
come of age, you won t be respected properly and it will be hard to get through life without being
mature. Being mature is one of the key things to be in life. In addition to the following
expectations you are expected to be when coming of age, being trustworthy is another key
element to life for if you aren t trustworthy it s very likely that you won t get hire or get fired
from the job because how can someone give you a task if they don t trust that you ll do it. Being
trustworthy means to not only tell the truth at all times but to do the right thing when no one is
watching because if you do so, people will not only trust you to do a simple task but it can be a

Coastal Erosion Of Coastal Vegetation Depending On Their...
The comprehension of the distribution of coastal vegetation depending on their salinity tolerance is
very significant to the understanding of coastal ecological modeling. Coastal ecological modeling
depends largely on the interplay of salinity and the formation, productivity and perishability of
coastal plants to infer or predict any coastal change. Plants that sustain in a highly saline
environment are termed as halophytes, including mangroves, which tolerate salinitybut perhaps do
not require salt to perform their physiological activities. Mangroves are an important type of marine
halophytes, which are influenced by salinity throughout their lives but manage to thrive in spite of
difficulties. There are two types of halophytes: facultative halophytes and obligate halophytes.
Facultative halophytes can sustain in fresh water but grow rapidly with the increase in salinity up
to an optimum level. On the other hand, obligate halophytecannot stand fresh water and have
optimal growth in similar or more than the salinity range of facultative halophytes. The general
consensus among scientists on mangrovecategorization is that mangroves are facultative
halophytes, as the distinction depends on the ability of mangroves to survive in fresh water. In the
review article On the halophytic nature of mangroves , Krauss and Ball (2013) contended that
mangroves do not need salt for survival and hence are truly facultative halophytes. The authors
accomplished their comprehensive

The Abolition Of The Civil War
During the mid 1800s, the issue of slavery and its expansion had become a major controversial
element of American history, resulting in the transpiration of the Civil War. Between the years of
1861 and 1865, conflict between the North and South had emerged, causing bloodshed at America s
most dominant period of history. Throughout the year 1861, intense conflict between the North and
South over issues of states liberties, federal power, westward expansion, and slavery had impelled
the Civil War. By the end of war, the Civil War had proved to be the most disastrous war known to
American existence. During war, antislavery movements had transpired, as abolitionists strived to
develop the emancipation of slaves and became ambitious to prohibit intolerance and
prejudice.During the 1830s, abolitionists and advocates of antislavery had strongly aspired to
develop the abolishment and prohibition of slavery. As the struggle for abolition and antislavery
had commenced, the aspiration for the abolishment of slavery had gained success, flourishing
during the era of the Civil War. Following the abolition and antislavery movement, the Women s
Rights Movement had also become a dominant aspect of the Civil War. During the nineteenth
century, aspiring women had become ambitious to sustain rights and liberties for themselves.
Women s efforts which had been contributed to the abolition movement had become a major aspect

Ackerman s writing on taste and vision is a very entertaining essay. The writing was easy to

entertaining and informative parts were food and vision. I learned a great deal in that section
and was entertaining to learn how food and vision are so closely related. For example all the
different types of foods that are considered aphrodisiacs. Another entertaining section was the
part about food and its history. How the Egyptians thought very highly of the onion and swore

Analysis Of The New York Times By Cyra Mcfaddin
In Cyra McFaddin s article published in the New York Times titled In Defense of Gender, she
asserts that male pronouns should not be eliminated from written and spoken English works.
McFaddin uses satire in an attempt to make readers sympathetic to a writer s problem of trying to
be nondiscriminatory by using gender neutral language. Cyra McFaddin s goal is to convince
readers that gender neutral language won t solve any problems or advance feminist ideas because
she believes some take it to the extreme. She also thinks that using slashes and the term person
makes the English language sound cumbersome and will never please everyone. I disagree with
McFaddin. She is quick to criticize the progress that others are attempting to make without offering
a solution to the gender neutral language that she so despises. I believe that any progress forward is
worthwhile, and accuracy is paramount. Ultimately, everyone just wants to be included in the
default. While McFaddin attempts to use humor to cover her complaints of how bland or distracting
writing seems when gender neutral language is used, and how it doesn t aid in the development of
relationships when used; inclusion of everyone is much more valuable and worthwhile.
McFaddin makes the point that when writers use a slash in their work, it can be distracting to read
especially out loud. She does this by saying, In print, those person suffixes and he/she s jump out
from the page, as distracting as a cloud of gnats,

before breaking into several cars and stealing the property therein. Id. at 1. The court reasoned
that the entry of any part of the apartment was sufficient to establish entry into the building
because the hallway, elevator, and parking garage are appurtenant structures of the apartments.
Id. at 2. In Lopez, the defendant entered a hotel room that was found to be a building because the
room was intentionally comprised from walls, ceilings, and a door that provided suitable shelter.
The case at bar is similar to Lopez, because here, the Defendant entered a parking lot that was
intentionally constructed from component parts of a covered walkway, a fence, and entry doors.
Each component contributes to the overall building because the closure from the parking lot
fence was designed to wall out trespassers; the covered walkways provide an overhead shelter
from the elements in the same manner as a ceiling; and entry doors allow access for apartment
residents. All of which, comprise component parts of a building for the express purpose of
affording suitable shelter to humans. In Walker, a dairy farmer built an attached structure to his
barn that was somewhat exposed to the elements. The structure was considered a building because
it was a structure connected to the barn that was suitable for sheltering the farmer from the
elements while he did his daily chores. The case at

  • 3. Affects Of Weather On Deer Hunting Effects of Weather on Deer Hunting Every year the fall brings in one of the biggest sports, hunting. According to David Crook in his article How big is the Hunting Economy, there are about 13.7 million people or approximately six percent of the United States population that consider themselves to be hunters. When all of these people get up the morning of opening day there is one thing that affects the way that they hunt. Every avid hunter knows that they have to base their huntingstyle off of the weather. The different factors of the weather such as the temperature, wind speed, barometric pressure, and precipitation changes the way the deermove and can either make or break a deer hunter s season. The movement of a whitetail deer changes according to the weather. There are several different factors to consider when talking about the weather, but the one of the leading factors is the temperature. Some people believe that the colder it is outside, the better the hunting becomes. This is true until it gets so cold that the deer have to bed down and not move to stay warm. When the temperature begins to drop down to about 35 degrees Fahrenheit, the deer begin scrambling for food to prepare for winter and the rut. The rut is a deer s mating season. This has the deer at a constant movement and makes for prime hunting. When the temperature begins to change, the amount of movement of the deer begins to change also. If the temperature rises then the amount of a deer s movement ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When the Spanish arrived at the Incan borders in 1528, the Incan empire spanned a great distance, from Ancs Maya, Blue River, in Southern Columbia to the Maule River in Chile. The Inca Empire originated from a tribe based in Cuzco under the rule of Pachacuti, the Incan leader from 1438 to 1471/1472, Cuzco soon ended up being the capital of the Empire. Pachacuti s would later rule the empire. The Inca believed that harmony between the relationships of the human being, nature and gods was truly essential. They had multiple gods, but the main god was Viracocha, the Inca even considered their emperors as demi gods. They had several sacred objects and locations. On the 16th of November 1532, while the natives were in a celebration in Cajamarca, the Spanish captured Atahualpa by surprise during the ensuing battle. When HuГЎscar was killed, the Spanish tried and convicted Atahualpa of the murder, executing him by strangulation. After the Spanish had risen to power and Atahualpa was executed, several of Atahualpa s generals started rebelling against the Spanish. Quizquiz defended Cuzco from the Spaniards and Ruminahui burned Quito instead of letting it fall into the enemies hands. Nevertheless, the Spanish remained in power and within two years, they seemed to be in firm control. However, one of the Incas the Spanish had enthroned was plotting against them. Manco Inca Yupanqui, one of Atahualpas and HuГЎscars many brothers, led over 100,000 Incan warriors in an attack against the Spanish in 1536. He besieged Cuzco for more than six months and killed one of the Pizarro brothers before he was forced away by Spanish reinforcements. He managed to escape and formed a rebel colony in the mountains, which was not conquered by the Spanish for almost 40 years. During this time the Spanish were destroying sacred lands, sacred objects, however they did not find the mountain city, Machu Picchu. • 5. Social and Political Themes in the Movie Milk Essay Extra Credit Assignment MILK 1. What are the main themes, politically and socially, that are portrayed in the film? Milk is a biographical film based on the triumphs and struggles of Harvey Milk. He was a gay rights activist and the first openly gay elected official in California. Socially, the film addresses the discrimination homosexuals faced on a daily basis. (T)he normal majority , as labeled by Anita Bryant, inflicted prejudice upon the homosexual minority. The Castro , the name of a street in an area often inhabited by homosexual bars and such places, portrays the clan like social groupings. The entire neighborhood however was not friendly. A fellow merchant on Castro Street refused to allow Milk to join the Merchant s... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He also wanted to include blacks, Asians, and the disabled in a human rights movement. 3. Choose 2 scenes from the film and discuss what is important about them. I was very bothered by the comments Anita Bryant made during a televised speech that was shown in the film. She was an orange juice sales woman who was working to repeal laws that protect homosexual human rights; specifically in employment and housing. She described homosexuality as tearing down the foundation of the family unit and compared gays to prostitutes and thieves. She tried to convince the public that the traditional family was being threatened and that practicing or accepting homosexuality was blasphemy. Although the scenes of Harvey Milk recording his voice were split up throughout the film, I felt it to be the most powerful. Not only does he address the substantial probability of being assassinated, he does so calmly and courageously. He stated that, a gay activist is the target for someone who is insecure . As he did throughout his encounters with all kinds of people, he also stated that he often broke the tension when giving a speech to mostly straight men by telling a joke. Milk accomplished a lot for the gay rights movement, one that is still fighting today, and he did so with integrity, hard work, and sporadic humor. 4. • 6. The Chicago Board Of Education Meets The Chicago Board of Education meets once a month to discuss issues relevant to Chicago Public Schools, entertain public comments, and make policy and fiscal decisions. Often times the Board meeting is held at Chicago Public Schools (CPS) central office at 10 a.m. However, both the timing and location of the meeting on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 differed. The meeting was held at Gwendolyn Brooks College Preparatory AcademyHigh School at 4:30 p.m. Gwendolyn Brooks is located on the far south side of Chicago. Hosting the meeting at a CPS school has both positives and negatives. By bolding the meeting at a school it allows for a less formal atmosphere in addition to providing the opportunity to showcase some of the beautiful properties CPS possesses. However, this particular school is not easily accessible by public transportation. This may cause a problem for some stakeholders that would like to participate in the school board meeting. Furthermore, 4:30 in the afternoon is an awkward time for a meeting as it is more difficult to find childcare during the evening hours. Additionally, finding details regarding this meeting was not easy. After a search was conducted on the CPS website, there was no mention of the board meeting. Once redirected to the Chicago Board of Education Site, information regarding the location of the meeting was supplied. However there wasn t a visible start time or information regarding if the meeting was being broadcasted on a local ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Social Contract Theory Essay Ethical Theory: Social Contract Theory The Social Contract Theory is the ethical theory concerning the relationship between the citizen and the government. The chief architects of the theory include Enlightenment thinkers and political theorists, Thomas Hobbes and John Locke whose theories were foundational in the Founding Fathers establishment of the United States. The theory chiefly focuses on the need for some type of regulating body over the affairs of mankind due to the nature of unregulated human behavior. It also focuses on and explains a different means by which the legitimacy of the State is gained, a theory that differed from monarchical legitimacy and is based on a contractual agreement. Hobbes theory of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The practical application of this debate comes in the form of social welfare policy and politics and class disparity. Those who are in favor of social welfare policies argue from the position that this is a basic right that should be given and guaranteed when it cannot be achieved without assistance. Those who would argue against economic justice and basic needs being met are those that would take an individualistic approach. Throughout history, there have always been disproportionate concentrations of resources among people. Objectively, with a smaller amount of people controlling the majority of the resources which creates a large scarcity or resource insecurity in a much larger swathe of the population. The argument against social welfare policy and supporting those takes the stance that people should not be given things when they have the capability to achieve those things. This argument is a microcosmic argument in that it does not examine the systems in which these people prepare and live. The stance against welfare policy claims that it will promote laziness and allows people to fail if they do not have the internal drive to achieve their needs, if they will not work for those needs then they must not be actual needs. The other aspect of this argument ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Role Of Religion In Medieval Japan Introduction: The role of tradition within religion in medieval Japanese society was of great significance. Shinto and Zen Buddhism were two of the major religions practiced in medieval Japan. Shinto was mainly concerned with daily life, while Zen Buddhism prepared the people for the life to come. The samurai also followed an important code called Bushido, a form of warrior philosophy. The ancient Japanese religions helped people understand the universe and also provided a connection between the physical world on earth and the spiritual world. Shintoism: Firstly, the traditions within Shintoism were important to help the Japanese people to connect with their ancestors and the nature around them. The word Shinto itself means way of the gods. It is as old as the Japanese culture and was the only religion in Japan until the 6th century. According to the Shinto religion, there exists a basic life force called kami. Kami are close to human beings and respond to human prayers. They can influence the course of natural forces, and human events. Shinto tradition says that there are eight million kami in Japan. Due to their deep respect and love for nature and Japan itself, many shrines were set up in places of natural beauty. Followers went to pray here to receive good fortune and samurai would often go to the shrines to pray for victory before and after battle. Shinto s traditions involved having a clean lifestyle. There still has a discussion with two things but most of people believe that the powerful of a pen is so enormously larger than the sword. A sharp edged sword cannot complete , create , and change the great effect as it is just a weapon which is used in a war with the power of hatred and fighting reason. Nevertheless , what a thing that sword cannot do but the forceful pen can make it perfect. It is hard to deny that pen could give both the bad and worth side to us. Our past and present are full of the example to ensure that pen is better than sword , for example , many of writers have changed the world by using their pen to write and break the barrier of the old knowledge. In conclusion , the powerful of a pen is better than sword in any purpose since pen can create , ruin and change the world with a second tips of the pen. As Rohtas Goel, CMD, Omaxe Ltd. explains, Both practical and theoretical experiences go hand in hand and each has their own significance. Many different theoretical perspectives are maintained in the field of nursing due to the diversity of the field, no single theory is able to account for all nursing knowledge. The purpose of this paper is to compare and contrast two nursing theories that have produced a profound impact on nursing practice. The theories being compared are Dorothea Orem s Self Care Deficit Nursing Theory (SCDNT) and Sister Callista Roy s Adaptation Model (RAM). Both theorists have profoundly influenced nursing science, research, practice, and education. Similarly, both of these theories fall into the category of Grand nursing theories which are the most complex theory level and explain broad areas of the discipline, as well as being the broadest in scope (McEwen Wills, 2014). • 17. Women Roles In The Progressive Era Women s Active Role Throughout the Gilded Age and Progressive Era, gender roles began to change as women became active participants in American society. For instance, women became active in expressing their views against alcohol and pushed for the prohibition and temperance. Organizations such as The Women s Christian Temperance Union (WCTU), argued that alcohol led to societal problems. Male and female reformers banned together to argue that alcohol was immoral and causing a negative impact on women. Women, if married, would experience an abusive, violent drunk husband who neglected his family and gambled his money away. Thus, the evils of alcohol became part of the progressive agenda that eventually led to the passage of the 18th amendment. Along with prohibition, women also took active roles in acquiring suffrage. In The Politics of Good Government, Gayle Gullett argued that in the California Women s Movement built a nonpartisan broad suffrage umbrella that sought to enhance their special interests. Middle class women assured their male allies that women s enfranchisement was essential to progressivism. Furthermore, middle and working class women argued that suffrage would not only protect working women but women in general. Working class men and women also united to seek reform. Thus, through these heterogeneous groups, the California Women s Movement built a unified coalition that led to women s suffrage in 1911. [46] As America entered the First Great War, the ... Core Concepts In Sociology After watching Core Concepts in Sociology, the primary concern presented is that, we as human beings are absolutely lost and unaware of different cultural standards and social norms. In my estimation, few individuals try to fathom the culture outside of middle class white America. Several individuals do not want a big house, with a picket white fence, or a new car every three years. Societies fail to comprehend that the genderroles placed on men and women mostly occur in middle class America. In my assessment, societies do not pay attention to the gender role of a poor class black woman. One can make the argument that a misunderstanding of cultures and norms is the leading cause of the problems in today s world. Although, some may consider that we are moving towards a global culture, most individuals believe we are further apart. In addition to being absolutely lost and unaware of different cultures, the organizations that are socializing us may be corrupt. As Americans, we are Ethnocentric, which is a major issue in my opinion. If people do not dress like Americans or value the things we value, they are considered substandard. NUMMI s effectiveness was evidenced by the drastic change in output quality, employee morale, and overall cost but while these great outcomes were recognized by GM, they were hardly leveraged. What supported these results were exactly the factors that radically set NUMMI apart from the rest of the GM family. The revival of the Japanese economy is of great importance not only to Japan but also to the well being of global economy. Therefore, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The reasons for this include high rates of both personal savings and privates sector facilities investment, labour force with strong work ethic, ample supply of cheap oil, innovative technology, and effective government intervention in private sector industries (Asianinfo). Japan was also a major beneficiary of the swift growth attained by the post war world economy under the free trade advanced by the International Monetary Fund and the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade. The industry sector was and still is the main contributor to the Japanese economy. By the late 1960s, Japan became the first post war era nation classified as less developed to achieve developed status (Asianinfo). In 2000, Japan s gross domestic product (GDP) was $4.648 trillion, which represent approximately 15% of the world GDP. Its percapita GDP income in 2000 was $36,634, which is one of the highest in the world (Japan Finance ministry). Apart from the above, the real economic growth between 1960s and 1980s had been excellent. The average real economic growth during the 1960s was 10%. In the 1970s, the average rate was 5% at which time the Japanese economy was considered as a matured economy and followed by 4% during the 1980s (Bigsten, 2004, p.3). Then in 1991, the ... Confidentiality is also something that will need to be addressed if a coach is hiring me for his client or a parent his hiring me for their young athlete. One thing that Dr. Carr, an alumnus of the program, taught me in an interview I did with him for our introduction to counseling class last year is to always have confidentiality outlined in your contract. For example, Dr. Carr says that when the front office or the coach keeps consistently asking what is going on in sessions even though he has explained confidentiality issues, he can default to his own contract and explain that he can be fired and he is not willing to risk that. He also says that if the athlete wishes to share with the coach, what the athlete is willing to share, when, and to whom is outlined in a written consent. Some may say that s a significant amount of money compared to how much the United States owes in debt. Therefore, there should be more restrictions on who qualifies to get food stamps, and also on how long people can receive them. If people are unemployed, then they should have applied to at least three different jobs before being able to apply for food stamps. If people do have a job, then of course they must be making below poverty level to qualify. The only exceptions should be made to full time high school, community college, or university students, or have been in the last six months. Students should have applied to at least one job before... If one must take the drug test and not pass, then a warning shall be given, along with two extra drug tests given monthly. If the same person does not pass the second time, food stamps should be cut by twenty percent; if they cannot pass the third test given, stamps should be cut by an additional thirty percent. Finally, if the same person has failed four consecutive drug test, or four within three months, food stamps should be cut out completely with a four month penalty before reapplying. The last restriction that should be applied to food stamps is how long you are able to continue receiving them. A student would be to receive stamps as long as they are enrolled in school. A parent, or household with children, can receive food stamps for the child until he/she has graduated, or turned eighteen if the child has dropped out of school. Is Satire just another boring part of literature? No, although satire is a part of literature, it most definitely is not boring. It can be used where other forms of literature cannot. Dictionary.com defines satireas the use of humor, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize people s stupidity or vices, particularly in the context of contemporary politics and other topical issues. Thinking of terrorism, people tend to see images of intensive war, mass killing, ISIS or 9/11 attack. But what is really terrorism? And how does it happen? Terrorism is defined as the unlawful use of violence and intimidation, especially against civilians, as a mean to create terror or fear, in the pursuit of political, religious, or ideological aims. This definition fits the images we see on the news, or in other words, images that are readily available in our mind, bombings, fire, terror, enduring people, and aggressive terrorist. As availability heuristic is not always accurate, this general definition also does not tell us the whole picture of the reality and how terrorism arises. We usually err to think that terrorists are born evil and destructive, so it is their internal disposition that rules the actions. For that reason, we underestimate the influence of the situation (religious conflict, for example). The fundamental attribution error first explains why and how we misunderstand terrorism. Most problems of terrorism can be interpreted using social psychology to reveal how people and individuals interact, relate, and impact each other. It is shocking to realize how similar terroristic issues are to ordinary thoughts of everyday life, with the only difference that it is taken to the extreme. The in group bias explains why ... • 50. Coastal Erosion Of Coastal Vegetation Depending On Their... The comprehension of the distribution of coastal vegetation depending on their salinity tolerance is very significant to the understanding of coastal ecological modeling. Coastal ecological modeling depends largely on the interplay of salinity and the formation, productivity and perishability of coastal plants to infer or predict any coastal change. Plants that sustain in a highly saline environment are termed as halophytes, including mangroves, which tolerate salinitybut perhaps do not require salt to perform their physiological activities. Mangroves are an important type of marine halophytes, which are influenced by salinity throughout their lives but manage to thrive in spite of difficulties. There are two types of halophytes: facultative halophytes and obligate halophytes. Facultative halophytes can sustain in fresh water but grow rapidly with the increase in salinity up to an optimum level. On the other hand, obligate halophytecannot stand fresh water and have optimal growth in similar or more than the salinity range of facultative halophytes. The general consensus among scientists on mangrovecategorization is that mangroves are facultative halophytes, as the distinction depends on the ability of mangroves to survive in fresh water. In the review article On the halophytic nature of mangroves , Krauss and Ball (2013) contended that mangroves do not need salt for survival and hence are truly facultative halophytes. The authors accomplished their comprehensive ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 53. Taste And Vision By Ackerman Ackerman s writing on taste and vision is a very entertaining essay. The writing was easy to follow and was written on an interesting topic, which everyone can relate to. The most entertaining and informative parts were food and vision. I learned a great deal in that section and was entertaining to learn how food and vision are so closely related. For example all the different types of foods that are considered aphrodisiacs. Another entertaining section was the part about food and its history. How the Egyptians thought very highly of the onion and swore upon it as we do the bible. Overall this was a good essay it flowed nicely and was really easy to follow along. The following are the topics I chose to discuss concerning tasteand vision Losing ... Ackerman has also shown me that writing through experience is an effective way to tell stories about historical events. Also, her tone throughout the novel keeps things light and interesting, and when added to her dramatic portrayals of the five senses makes for a very entertaining ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 54. Analysis Of The New York Times By Cyra Mcfaddin In Cyra McFaddin s article published in the New York Times titled In Defense of Gender, she asserts that male pronouns should not be eliminated from written and spoken English works. McFaddin uses satire in an attempt to make readers sympathetic to a writer s problem of trying to be nondiscriminatory by using gender neutral language. Cyra McFaddin s goal is to convince readers that gender neutral language won t solve any problems or advance feminist ideas because she believes some take it to the extreme. She also thinks that using slashes and the term person makes the English language sound cumbersome and will never please everyone. I disagree with McFaddin. She is quick to criticize the progress that others are attempting to make without offering a solution to the gender neutral language that she so despises. I believe that any progress forward is worthwhile, and accuracy is paramount. Ultimately, everyone just wants to be included in the default. While McFaddin attempts to use humor to cover her complaints of how bland or distracting writing seems when gender neutral language is used, and how it doesn t aid in the development of relationships when used; inclusion of everyone is much more valuable and worthwhile. McFaddin makes the point that when writers use a slash in their work, it can be distracting to read especially out loud. She does this by saying, In print, those person suffixes and he/she s jump out from the page, as distracting as a cloud of gnats, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The court reasoned that the entry of any part of the apartment was sufficient to establish entry into the building because the hallway, elevator, and parking garage are appurtenant structures of the apartments. Id. at 2. In Lopez, the defendant entered a hotel room that was found to be a building because the room was intentionally comprised from walls, ceilings, and a door that provided suitable shelter. The case at bar is similar to Lopez, because here, the Defendant entered a parking lot that was intentionally constructed from component parts of a covered walkway, a fence, and entry doors. Each component contributes to the overall building because the closure from the parking lot fence was designed to wall out trespassers; the covered walkways provide an overhead shelter from the elements in the same manner as a ceiling; and entry doors allow access for apartment residents. All of which, comprise component parts of a building for the express purpose of affording suitable shelter to humans. In Walker, a dairy farmer built an attached structure to his barn that was somewhat exposed to the elements. The structure was considered a building because it was a structure connected to the barn that was suitable for sheltering the farmer from the elements while he did his daily chores. The case at ...
