The Modern Prison System And The American Government System
If there is one thing that makes the world run efficiently, it s money. Having money and adequate
funds, leads to power and peace, no matter the business you re in. This is no different in the correction
industry, one of the least funded areas in the American government system. For as long as America has
been founded, there have been a prison system. Granted early systems were horrendous and treated
criminals as less than human beings, the modern prison system isn t perfect either. Even after
hundreds of years, the American prison system is flawed. Corrections industries do not communicate
with each other causing disparity in the way places are run and which programs are truly helpful in
getting people back into society successfully. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The staff in corrections is so large, because there is a huge number of people in the actual prisons, an
even bigger number of people on parole, and people in general needing to be protected. With more
than 2.3 million people locked up, the United States has the highest incarceration rate in the world. 1
out of 100 American adults is behind bars, meaning that with that many people needing to be
incarcerated, governments should be focused on opening new facilities and expanding instead of
making across the board cuts and shutting down much needed buildings. Though the corrections
industry is only one part of the entire Criminal justice system, it is argued to be one of the most
important. The local, state, and the federal government spend about $74 billion dollars a year on
correctional institutions, and nearly 800,000 people work in the industry. In corrections, budget is
being diminished at an astounding rate. Prisons are getting closed, there s less money for necessary
equipment, there are fully trained staff member losing their jobs, and lower staff/inmate ratios.
Governments are doing whatever they can to save, but eventually there s nowhere else to cut, and the
situation becomes very dangerous for not only inmates, but for the guards there as well. With the
economy being in rough shape as of late in America, money invested in corrections is lessening,
whether this is more helpful or harmful to society in the long run is

The Oregon Trail Essay example
The Oregon Trail
The Oregon Trail was a very important aspect in the history of our country s development. When
Marcus and Narcissa Whitman made the first trip along the Oregon Trail, many Americans saw a
window of opportunity. The Oregon Trail was the only practical way to pass through the Rockies.
Pioneers crammed themselves into small wagons to try to make it to the unsettled land; however, 10%
of these pioneers died on the way due to disease and accidents.
The journey along the Oregon Trail was a very long and rough experience. Stretching out to almost a
whopping 2000 miles it usually took the pioneers 4 6 months travelling at 12 to 16 miles per hour.
Throughout this journey the pioneers had to battle with cholera, poor ... Show more content on

The role of the Native Americans during the time of the Oregon Trail was a very important one. The
first section of the Oregon Trail bisected two major Native American tribes, these were the Cheyenne
to the north and the Pawnee to the south. Many of the travelers feared attacks by these tribes but were
surprised when they were allowed to pass unharmed. The Native Americans were the opposite of what
was expected of them. They were very helpful to the travelers. They often helped travelers pull out
stuck wagons, rescue drowning travelers, and even round up lost cattle. Native Americans also acted
as guides, carried messages between wagon trains, traded with the travelers, and even helped some
travelers cross Indian land.
Most of the encounters with the Native Americans were simple business transactions. Travelers traded
clothing, rifles, and tobacco products in exchange for horses and food. However, many travelers
complained that the Native Americans charged expensive tolls for crossing their lands. Conflicts
between the Indians and the travelers were pretty rare. Out of the 500,000 people to travel along the
Oregon Trail fewer than 400 pioneers lost their lives due to attacks. When the travelers had overgrazed
the prairie grasses, burned all the available firewood, and killed all the herds of buffalo attacks were
expected by the travelers. In order to

Don Juan Analysis
The story Don Juan written in the 1600 s by Moliere is a comical controversial drama typical of
Moliere s plays. Although Don Juan lived criticized for free thought and atheism . . . And an
unbeliever overturning the foundation of religion the play has performed for over 200 years now
recognized as one of Moliere s masterpieces. (91 Moliere). Don Juan s is a historical womanizer who
rebels against God and morality. So it appears a womanizer exists every generation. The character
Don Juan mocks relationships also the sanctity of marriage. Additionally, Don Juan enjoys breaking
up relationships for conquest and sport. Thus, Don Juan remains unconcerned his valet Sganarelle
served him as a silent accomplice against his will. However, Sganarelle does express Don Juan s
behavior with Gusman squire to Elvira. Furthermore, Sganarelle says A wedding doesn t mean a thing
to him. It s the only sort of trap he sets for ensnaring women: he weds them left, right, and centre . . . I
d rather serve the devil himself than Don Juan (96 97 Moliere). Moreover, Don Juan speaks of
commitment to one woman as bondage or a death sentence. In the story Don Juan was once
committed to his Elvira, presently has lost interest in her. Thus, Don Juan says What! Would you
restrict a man to staying chained to the first woman who takes his fancy, has him give up everything
for her and never look back again? ( 98 Misier). Therefore, Don Juan uses his expansive vocabulary to
manipulate and persuade women of any background. Hence Don Juan remains bold in his efforts to
steal a woman s affections insomuch he enchants and stirs debate between Charlotte and Mathurine. In
the story Charlotte and Mathurine debate over whom Don Juan loves. Therefore Don Juan fuels the
debate between Charlotte and Mathurine. Also, Don Juan says What do you want me to say. . .You
both claim that I promised to marry you. But doesn t each one of you knows the truth without my
needing to spell it out? Surely the one I have given my promise to can afford to laugh at anything the
other one says (115 Moliere).
Furthermore, Don Juan has no convictions for his actions, even unto his birth father, Don Louis
expresses the shame in his immorality. For Don Louis boldly

Understanding The Real Life Events During The Oardwalk Empire
oardwalk Empire, the show that demonstrates the real life events that occurred during the early 1920s
in Atlantic City, New Jersey, represents several intercultural communication concepts. This
historically based drama series provided through HBO was chosen because of its wide variety of
themes, conflicts, and plots driven through certain means of communication and interactions among
the characters. For instance, the communication and intercultural models observed while watching the
television show only enhance the audience s entertainment and interest. Atlantic City was thrown back
to the days of a lawless country, which was due to prohibition and the consumption of alcohol that was
not going to be stopped by anyone. In fact, most political servants were involved in the daily activities
and were either profiting from bootlegging alcohol or helping those who did. They profited monetarily
and were in power and control because they could hide in the shadows and still appear to be the pillars
of society. It could be said that the very definition of prohibition in the early 1920s where a patron
could have any alcohol he desired as long as he was willing to pay for it. The illegality of selling and
drinking spirits affected the citizens lives, some positively and others negatively, and many were part
of the extracurricular activities except those who obeyed the laws of the time. The three main concepts
that will be discussed in much further detail include high power distance, a

As Mark was very satisfied with his results, many other students also express to their parents how
helpful was Study Hall in Cushing Academy.
The same what Study Hall keeps students in their desks from 8:00pm to 10:00 pm, it s a great method
of improving a student s responsibility. When someone is into a routine of doing something every day
at the same time, he gets use to it and sometimes keeps that routine forever. One of the reasons study
hall is done in Cushing is to provide discipline and responsibility to a student in order to study by your
own in College in a near future. It will also make a student keep at least two hours a day to review and
study for college. Keeping time for your studies is a great sign of responsibility. In many aspects,
Study Hall contributes to a great future by providing responsibility and discipline in a student s
studies.
As a great preparation for college, Study Hall is known by helping students to improve their study
skills in a great amount. One of the biggest worries of Mark was that he wouldn t be prepared to do
homework by himself in college, but he was mistaken. Study Hall made him conscious of grades. He
thought of the good colleges he could get in if he had good grades, and the respect and admiration he
could get of teachers and friends. But the problem was how to manage his time to do all of his

Linguistic Bias
Bias is a discernibly human quality; like all things human in nature, there lies deep in our
consciousness values, axiology s, and prejudice. These biases , rather worldviews, create within each
person their own rose coloured lenses with which they perceive, and more importantly, influence the
world. To look at how bias can occur both blatantly and subtly in writing, three distinct forms will be
analyzed; Linguistic Biases,
Perhaps the most common bias is the linguistic bias. Simply, this is where the writer conveys
information, emotion, and perspective in a biased manner. This can be done knowingly or
unknowingly, but the negative impact to the readers doesn t change. In the case of a report by Career
Services for the University of Wisconsin Stout, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The danger here is present, misrepresenting history is an omission of truth for untruth. When Ideology
and beliefs overbear pertinent facts, it opens the door for Orwellian tactics in using biases like
unreality to shape a fictional truth. In this case, the bias was used to shape Texas students
understanding of the confederations values, rationale, and involvement with slavery and the trading
thereof to suit a set of beliefs held amongst those in power. This shows that biases are prevalent in
society and at times, very intentional.
Lastly, likely the most pronounced bias is stereotyping; whether used in comedy, rhetoric, or everyday
life, stereotyping is everywhere. The best example of this bias would be the recent 2015 Presidential
election in the USA. Growing political polarization, with prevalent misinformation, and ignorance of
the other side , creates an ideal powder keg for sweeping generalizations. A good indicator of
stereotyping in the US follows from what adjectives are used to describe each party from their
opposition, seen here in figure 1. Figure 1. (Martin,

Introduction
The three communication theories I have applied to provide the most insight into understanding the
dynamics of the observed conversation between two people are; the transmission model (Shannon
Weaver 1949), Foulger s ecological model (Foulger 2004), and an expanded model of communication
(Eunson 2012).
In this essay I have used a conversation I had listened to which was between my friend (from here on
will be named George) and his friend (from here on will be named Mark). Problems that arose during
the conversation will be explained as well as how George and Mark overcame them. From there the
essay will compare and contrast the three communication theories and decide which of these best
simplify the conversation. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Figure 2: An Ecological Model of the Communication (Source: Foulger 2004)
Eunson s expanded model of communication is more complex than Foulger s as well as Shannon and
Weaver s models, though it is more appropriate to this conversation had between George and Mark
due to the fact it shows that in order for the communication to happen the sender must pre edit and
then encode the message pass the message onto the receiver where he decodes and edits the message.
Eunson also takes into account the use of mechanical, behavioural and semantic factors of encoding,
and understands that if the message is to be understood the receiver must be able to decode the
message. This is particularly relevant, and highly important to this conversation between George and
Mark due to the factors mentioned before.
Context
Figure 3: An expanded model of communication (Source: Eunson 2012)
Conclusion
I have found Shannon and Weavers transactional model too simple and cannot evaluate the
complexities of this situation, and that Foulger s model too broad and not able to focus on the
problems that need to be addressed.
Therefore, I believe that Eunson s expanded model of communication is the most adequate to use out
of the three models that were written about because Eunson s model has shown how a message from
George is first pre edited

Safety Systems Of The Airline Industry
Long over a week ago, news that a commercial airliner operated by United Airlines was allegedly
hacked and redirected in midair by One World Labs Founder Chris Roberts, sparked questions
regarding whether such a task is possible and if so, what it may mean in terms of future transportation
safety. With security always being a prime concern in the airline industry, this claim from Chris
Roberts has raised a number of concerns from experts as well as the general public They are both
eager to know the extent to which this story is true. Historically a plane s control systems have been
very manual, based on hydraulics and mechanical circuits, with some form of automation of the
control systems, however in the last couple of decades, the control systems have been upgraded and
today most modern jet liners are controlled by electronic control systems also known as a fly by wire
controls. These upgrades have been required in order to increase reliability as well as support the
increased functionality required by the control systems to operate more sophisticated engines and
much larger planes. Each new plane comes equipped more automated than the last. The question on
everyone s mind is, should I worry? There are some fundamental things that airplane manufacturers
and their related partners have done to protect against such attacks. First of all, there is a strong
separation between the entertainment system and the avionics control systems. Of course after the
recent claims there

Research Paper On Breaking Cosmic Ice
Breaking the Cosmic Ice
Scientists have shown that the Earth stops energetic neutrinos, according to data collected from the
IceCube array in Antarctica. High energy neutrino interactions monitored by the IceCube detector, an
array of 5,160 basketball sized optical sensors buried a mile deep in a cubic kilometer of exceptionally
clear ice near the south pole.
Neutrinos are infinitesimally small and nearly massless particles that surround us at any given
moment. Roughly one trillion from the Sun pass through a human s eyes every second, and they come
in three types (called flavors): electron, muon, and tauon neutrinos, each name corresponding to three
charged particles with which they pair. Since they interact so rarely, it s extremely ... Show more

The neutrino interactions analyzed have energies in the trillion electron volt, or TeV, range. A
mosquito puts out about one TeV. The detected neutrinos energy ranged from 6.3 TeV to 980 TeV.
Miarecki performed much of the data analysis whilst working toward her PhD as an IceCube
researcher. It s a multidisciplinary idea, she said in a news release. In order to understand if the cross
section of neutrinos detected matches Standard Model predictions, the analysis used input from
geologists who supplied models of the Earth s interior from seismic studies. With this, scientists were
able to compare their data with a simulation of neutrinos passing through the Earth.
In this study, researchers measured the flux of muon neutrinos as a function of their energy and their
incoming direction. Neutrinos with higher energies and with incoming directions closer to the North
Pole are more likely to interact with matter on their way through Earth. Image credit: IceCube

We created some of the data from seismic data bouncing off of various parts of the Earth, Miarecki
told Futurism. Putting together all the constraints, including the gravitational constriction of the Earth,

The High Cost Of College
Education has always been imperative. Now more than ever, it is the only thing that helps anyone to
advance in today s society. As vital as imparting knowledge can be, it is also expensive. The average
school year cost about $25,000 dollars to attend. Not to mention, the exclusion of room and board, and
school fees, which is much more exorbitant. The thought of even extending free tuition all through
college to obtain a Bachelor s degree is brilliant. I personally believe the U.S Government should fund
for this proposal while it s on hand because it can ease both working parents and student, time to
study, and can encourage them to excel more in school. We were taught going to school that college is

The rhythm sounds like that of a nursery rhyme there is an iambic pentameter with a very regular line

The statement is short, and abrupt, which makes it sound bitter.
· It is quite a shock because not many poems are written from this point of view and a lot of people
don t like to think about it at all.
· This abruptness perhaps symbolises the fact that nothing can be done to change this fact, as it is just
that: a fact.
· Dead is capitalised, as though the poet is referring to all those who died as one collective person.
People not in the war would probably refer to them like this, anonymously.
* Line 1 Short days ago this brings home the suddenness of death in war.
* Line 2 We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow... this helps the reader to identify with the dead. It
contrasts with the previous capitalisation of Dead because it is reminds the reader of how these
soldiers were all real people, who had feelings and watched sunsets.
· Sunsets are beautiful things very unlike the war. They appear to be an eternal cycle, which is very
different to these peoples lives, and reminds us of our mortality.
* Line 3 Loved and were loved, and now we lie... loved and were loved shows that the dead soldiers
cared about people who cared about them, but it is in the past tense. This makes it sound as if now
they are dead no one cares about them. They are forgotten, which makes the next line

Research Paper On Friday Night Lights
Friday Night Lights Research Paper In H.G. Bissinger s novel Friday Night Lights he goes in depth
describing the world surrounding high school football in Texas. There is nothing like high school
football in Texas, it is the best thing to happen to many of the people that live there. Winning a high
school state championship in Texas can make someone a hero for the rest of their lives. This being
said, it causes a lot of difficulties once this peak in their life is over at such a young age. Many of
these people do not know how to live with themselves after their days of football are over. They grow
up and live through their kids. Sports and academics are two of the areas of life where parents attempt
to live their dreams and ambitions through their children. Some parents try to continue their athletic
careers or have a successful athletic career through their kids on a daily basis. This can come from
them not fulfilling lifetime dreams or having an unsuccessful career when they had the chance to
participate in these athletic events. Charlie Billingsley is a very good example of one of those parents.
He lives his old running back career through his son, Don Billingsley, who also plays running back.

Syria Between The And Ottoman Empire
Another specific conflict area that this paper will examine is Syria. The area, today known as Syria, is
in a unique location which has made it subject to many empires, including the Roman and Ottoman.
Since the area has been at the center of history for thousands of years it is home to a diverse ethnic and
religious culture. Currently the country is home to Kurds, Armenians, Assyrians, Christians, Druze,
Alawite Shia and Arab Sunnis, the last of who make up a majority of the Muslim population, (BBC).
Prior to World War I, the area was under control of the Ottoman Empire, after the war the empire was
broken up and France took control of the area. In 1946, France granted Syria independence, and the
country has been dealing with political instability ever since. From 1958 1961, Syria joined up with
Egypt to create the United Arab Republic. The following years brought about a succession of
upheavals within the government. In the 1960 s the Arab nationalist group, Baath, took over power,
and in 1970 one of their leaders, Hafiz al ASAD, took control, which brought about political stability.
In 1967 there was a war taking place between Israel and Syria, which resulted in Israel occupying a
southwestern region of the country. In 1970, Syria s neighbor of Lebanon broke out into civil war and
Syria extended their military power into that country. The Baath government has been known to be a

Dechaffers that can each store up to 1500bbl/hr, which will add up to a capacity of 3000bbl/hr. We can
calculate the implied utilization of the wet berry Dechaffer by dividing the input rate (1500bbl/hr) by
the capacity (3000bbl/hr) and the actual utilization by dividing the Flow Rate (600bbl/hr) by the
capacity (3000bbl/hr). The Dryers set the standard for the wet berries because they are the bottleneck
of the operation. There are three dryers that can process 200bbl/hr, giving us a total capacity of
600bbl/hr. The implied utilization is not very realistic because it takes the 1500bbl/hr input rate and
divides it by the 600bbl/hr capacity. The actual utilization of a bottleneck is always 1.0 because it is
operating at maximum capacity. Lastly, there are three separators that have a capacity of 400bbl/hr
each, giving us a total of 1200bbl/hr. The implied utilization will be discovered as 1.25 because you
are taking the 1500bbl/hr input rate and dividing it by 1200bbl/hr capacity. The actual utilization can
be found by 600bbl/hr (wet berries) plus 375bbl/hr (dry berries) and using them as your input rate. So
you will divide the 975bbl/hr by 1200bbl/hr capacity and get .8125. 2. Enter your answer and

The Amendment Of The United States Constitution
The right to express ones opinions without censorship or restraint can be considered as a basic
provision enshrined in the First Amendment to the United States Constitution. To elaborate, the first
amendment to the constitution prohibit the legislative arm of government in making of any law
abridging the freedom of speech, infringing on the freedom of the press and prohibiting the petitioning
for a governmental redress of grievances. Post this amendment, there have been several cases where
the Supreme Court has been required to interpret or make a decision to uphold its provisions. One of
such landmark cases is the Hazelwood School District vs Kuhlmeier. The case involved two articles
that were refused publication by a principal in a student newspaper. One of the articles dealt with the
experience of students whose parents are divorce and the other with teenage pregnancy.
In my view, the Supreme Court decision that restricting free speech is acceptable when the newspaper
is not public is appropriate. First of all, the Students produced the school newspaper as part of their
journalism class. Therefore it cannot be classified as a public newspaper that could leverage the
provisions of the bill of rights. For this reason, the principal in my opinion has the rights to censor
such school sponsored student publications when they have purposes reasonably related to genuine
educational concerns. The educational concerns may be related to the impact of the articles on teenage

How Did Hitler Changed The World
Last year Hitler became the Chancellor of Germany. Ever since he became the Chancellor of
Germany, the world has changed. Many people have lost their lives. Before Hitler came to power, we
the Jews, didn t have to worry about anything. Before Hitler came to power, I used to have a lot of fun
with my friends. We used to play in the streets all day and night without having to worry about
anything. My childhood was really good because of all the freedom we had. Now all that freedom is
gone because of one person. When I was younger, I was able to go to school and learn. I used to have

streets, parks, and neighborhoods. Now, if any Jews are seen, they will be taken to concentration
camps. In my childhood, I was able to play soccer for a team. Then I got kicked off the team for being
a Jew. Then, my friend s and I started playing soccer in the streets and sometimes parks. It was really
fun. After playing soccer, they would come to my house and we would eat like a bunch of wild pigs.
My childhood was very fun. I didn t worry a single bit. Every year when it was my birthday, my
parents would invite around 20 people to come to our house and celebrate my birthday with me. They
would invite family and friends. Most of family moved to America when I was around seven. My
Mom made very delicious cakes for my birthdays. My friends loved my birthday cakes. For food, we
would buy burgers. When the party was over my friends would stay at my house and we would have a
sleepover. During our sleepover we told each other many funny jokes and ate all the leftover cakes

Female Characters In Beowulf Essay
I find myself disagreeing with the above statement. It is clear to me that within the epic poem Beowulf
, the narrative is mostly dominated by poems male characters. Beowulf, Grendel, Hrothgar all have
major roles in the poems narrative, the poem is written from the male perspective and its central
themes of bravery, violence and heroism are associated with the male characters. This would lead one
to agree with the above statement, that the roles of the female characters in beowulf are minor and
easily forgotten due to the fact that they are mostly in the background, but upon closer inspection it
has become clear to me that the female characters of Beowulf play a very important role in
contributing to the poem s narrative.

Straight Commission Case Study
Straight Committee
Now, let s look at the pros and cons of working as a straight commission salesperson:
Benefit:
1. Opportunities higher overall. Straight commission opportunities almost always pay a higher
commission rate paid salary + commission from the same position. When I was faced with taking that
first, I was scared at first thought the decision not to have a stable wage income plummeted. However,
when I sit down with a calculator, I realized I could not lose. The commission rate is so high, only the
sales will pay how much I pay each month to the hair, and that only one sale a month and not spend a
lot of specific work. Finally, I quadrupled my income just by switching the commission, although I did
not sell more than I received.
2. Free. This can be a double edged sword. I always hated it and tried to enter the office ... Show more

What Is Professionalism
What is professionalism in the context of being a student in a doctor of the physical therapist degree
program?
Professional Responsibilities
Professionalism is a characteristic one attainable by a series of conduct that aims towards being the
best one can be. This can be reflected by actions such as the way someone talks and walks. The
characteristics of a leader would be a perfect example of professionalism. These characteristics are as
follows: ethics, responsibility, great habits, desire for knowledge, skills, humbleness, politeness,
wisdom, compassion, loyalty, respect and understanding. These are some of the many qualities one
must attain towards being professional. The application of these qualities defines the ism at the end of
professionalism and that for me it indicates the state of being.
Professionalism in the context of being a student of physical therapy means you will study without
hesitation. The hunger for learning of a professional student is immeasurable because it is constant. A

everyone without considering social or financial status. Humility is the ability to accept not knowing
everything. Therefore, a professional student should have the capacity of listening and accepting
advice from anyone. Also a professional student in any type of setting influences people in a positive
way. The commitment to lifelong learning is essential and is the basis of being a professional because

The Human Condition Of The World
The Human Condition can be argued to be in a crisis with its position in modern society.
With a massive decline in personal interaction, corruption in government, and the event of
climate change that has never before been seen in the history of this planet. There are few small
groups around the world that try to make this crisis known to the world, although many world
powers and much of the population choose to either deny or ignore the cry for help. There is a
plethora of ways to spread the word, and one of the most common is through writing; authors
such as Jared Diamond or Al Gore commit their lives to informing the world about the decline of
the human condition. There are also authors that do not rely on pressing these matters ... Show more

Understanding just how temptation, culture and relationships can be interpreted as magic reveals
how these authors use their genre to inform the population of the failing human condition.
When the term magic is brought up in any kind of media, the immediate thought of
most people is fairy dust, unicorns, or J.K. Rowling s Harry Potter series; although the magic
in Magical Realism is truly none of that at all. The magic in Magical Realism comes from the
characters in the novels, through their thoughts and actions they create the magic that exists in
these novels. In these themes the magic reveals itself, they appear as unstoppable forces in
human nature that cannot be derived to an elementary force, and thus appears magical.
Temptation for instance, appears in A Hundred Years of Solitude and Invisible Cities to lure men
to unspeakable fates that impact the rest of their lives and the lives of the people around them.
Although the essence of temptation is an unexplainable force that exists blatantly to lead
humanity away from morality, the same force exists within the other two reoccurring themes that
are seen in Magical Realism. For example, relationships are emphasized and seen often in Life of
Pi and A Hundred Years of Solitude and are put in place to show how they play a key role in the
stories. The same force that deals with temptation

A Mock Prison Environment By Philip Zimbardo
Philip Zimbardo, who categorizes himself as good fell victim to the situation of the Stanford Prisons
Experiment (SPE). Even though it was a mock prison environment, Zimbardo fell heavily invested in
his role as superintendent and lead investigator of the SPE, whose main concern is to make sure the
SPE continues running, led him to accept that his actions were normal. Which in turn allowed him to
ignore his moral conscience; allowing for the suffering from the participants surrounding the SPE.
When Zimbardo came to the decision to end the program, disconnecting from his both his roles he

In regards to the piece that you wrote the piece seems to be about a young woman trying to wrestle

liked your story because I ve also had a crisis of faith, but I made my decision to leave the church
instead. It was interesting to see the journey your character took to overcome her demons and
heartbreaking as to what happened because of a careless pastor. I am curious as to what Irish nachos

character and the suffering she had went through

What Is The Theme Of Society In Fahrenheit 451
As society progresses, technology and customs often progress proportionally. Social customs, and the
way a group of people function as a whole are often altered by significant events or a change in
societal variables. Occasionally, this leads to situations in which certain facets of society begin to
drastically differ from their original form. Take for example, the abolition of slavery in the United
States in 1865. Slavery had been a vastly unchallenged component of American society until that point
(excluding the period of abolition efforts). When this changed, the government had to implement a
number of laws that reversed prior legislation concerning slavery. In many ways, Ray Bradbury s
fictional society in his dystopian novel, Fahrenheit 451 mirrors this by presenting a repressive
community in which many factors contribute to mass apathy and a passive state of perpetual passive
occupation. Social contact is central to human happiness, but as our technology increases in its
proficiency, there tends to be a disconnect in interpersonal contact. This feature of society is predicted
64 years ahead of time, and is highlighted frequently throughout the book, manifested in Mildred s ear
seashells and talking walls for entertainment. On a walk with Montag, Clarisse mentions that she is
often ostracized from her peers due to her antisocial tendencies. However, the audience must pause to
consider what she means by antisocial here to fully grasp the gravity and relevance of her

Watsons Theory of Caring
Watson s Theory of Human Caring The nursing profession has undergone a multitude of changes
throughout its long and storied history; the profession has transformed from a job typically taken by
women to care for sick members of their families into the science and art that it is today. Nursing
practice and education has used numerous theories over the years some written by nurses, some by
other professionals, and they differ in what the nature of nursing is or should be. In this paper I will
demonstrate how one such theory is taking the art and science of nursing back to its roots of caring for
people and not just treating diseases and disorders. By employing Dr. Watson s human caring theory I
will show why it is important to treat ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The caring is actualized in the moment because of the choices and actions taken by the patient and
nurse, one serving as the caregiver, the other the recipient of care. During these moments how the
nurse chooses to act and portray him or herself will have a significant impact on the caring moment as
well as future caring moments in relation to the treatment outcomes (Alligood, 2008). Dr. Watson s
goals when creating her theory, correlated with the mental spiritual growth for self and others, finding
meaning in one s own existence and experiences, discovering inner power and control, and
potentiating instances of transcendence and self healing (Watson,2007). The theory also is unique in
that the change required to resolve the health issues does not include technology, medication,
physicians, or nurses the true agent of change is the patient experiencing a well balanced mind, body,
and soul. Employing Watson s theory in nursing is not always an easy task, many nurses today can
argue that they simply do not have the time required to develop a true caring moment. With more
hospitals demanding more of their nursing staff it becomes a daunting task to develop a genuine
caring moment. In applying Dr. Watson s theory to nursing practice the following is an account of a
caring moment that I have had and how Watson s theory and carative factors guided my actions and
thought process throughout the interaction. While working in a Military emergency room (ER) early

The United Kingdom Of England And Northern Ireland
Arguments by the UK:
The United Kingdom of England and Northern Ireland believes that Ecuador has no legal right or
basis to grant political or diplomatic asylum to Assange for various legal reasons that the Court is set
to debate.
First, the United Kingdom s involvement in the topic comes from their obligation to extradite Julian
Assange to Sweden under Article 35, Clause 3 of the Extradition Act of 2003. Since Sweden has filed
for an EAW that has been approved by the UK, the UK is under a formal legal obligation to extradite
Assange to Sweden. An EAW is a legal document that obligates European members to surrender
persons who have committed or are suspected of committing crimes in EU territories.15
The United Kingdom counter argues Ecuador s claim that Assange is a political refugee who has been
granted political asylum on the grounds that he is escaping persecution due to his political beliefs.
They see no relevance of Assange s political actions or views to this case as the primary purpose of his
extradition is due to allegations of sexual assault that have supposedly occurred in Sweden. Due to
sexual assault being a crime that has no known relation to his political views, the UK claims that
Assange does not fit the criteria listed within Article 1 of the United Nations Convention and Protocol
Relating to the Status of Refugees. Therefore, Assange s status as a political refugee is unfounded in
the opinion of the UK.
On the topic of his potential extradition to the

  • 2. The Modern Prison System And The American Government System If there is one thing that makes the world run efficiently, it s money. Having money and adequate funds, leads to power and peace, no matter the business you re in. This is no different in the correction industry, one of the least funded areas in the American government system. For as long as America has been founded, there have been a prison system. Granted early systems were horrendous and treated criminals as less than human beings, the modern prison system isn t perfect either. Even after hundreds of years, the American prison system is flawed. Corrections industries do not communicate with each other causing disparity in the way places are run and which programs are truly helpful in getting people back into society successfully. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The staff in corrections is so large, because there is a huge number of people in the actual prisons, an even bigger number of people on parole, and people in general needing to be protected. With more than 2.3 million people locked up, the United States has the highest incarceration rate in the world. 1 out of 100 American adults is behind bars, meaning that with that many people needing to be incarcerated, governments should be focused on opening new facilities and expanding instead of making across the board cuts and shutting down much needed buildings. Though the corrections industry is only one part of the entire Criminal justice system, it is argued to be one of the most important. The local, state, and the federal government spend about $74 billion dollars a year on correctional institutions, and nearly 800,000 people work in the industry. In corrections, budget is being diminished at an astounding rate. Prisons are getting closed, there s less money for necessary equipment, there are fully trained staff member losing their jobs, and lower staff/inmate ratios. Governments are doing whatever they can to save, but eventually there s nowhere else to cut, and the situation becomes very dangerous for not only inmates, but for the guards there as well. With the economy being in rough shape as of late in America, money invested in corrections is lessening, whether this is more helpful or harmful to society in the long run is ... • 3. The Oregon Trail Essay example The Oregon Trail The Oregon Trail was a very important aspect in the history of our country s development. When Marcus and Narcissa Whitman made the first trip along the Oregon Trail, many Americans saw a window of opportunity. The Oregon Trail was the only practical way to pass through the Rockies. Pioneers crammed themselves into small wagons to try to make it to the unsettled land; however, 10% of these pioneers died on the way due to disease and accidents. The journey along the Oregon Trail was a very long and rough experience. Stretching out to almost a whopping 2000 miles it usually took the pioneers 4 6 months travelling at 12 to 16 miles per hour. Throughout this journey the pioneers had to battle with cholera, poor ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The role of the Native Americans during the time of the Oregon Trail was a very important one. The first section of the Oregon Trail bisected two major Native American tribes, these were the Cheyenne to the north and the Pawnee to the south. Many of the travelers feared attacks by these tribes but were surprised when they were allowed to pass unharmed. The Native Americans were the opposite of what was expected of them. They were very helpful to the travelers. They often helped travelers pull out stuck wagons, rescue drowning travelers, and even round up lost cattle. Native Americans also acted as guides, carried messages between wagon trains, traded with the travelers, and even helped some travelers cross Indian land. Most of the encounters with the Native Americans were simple business transactions. Travelers traded clothing, rifles, and tobacco products in exchange for horses and food. However, many travelers complained that the Native Americans charged expensive tolls for crossing their lands. Conflicts between the Indians and the travelers were pretty rare. Out of the 500,000 people to travel along the Oregon Trail fewer than 400 pioneers lost their lives due to attacks. When the travelers had overgrazed the prairie grasses, burned all the available firewood, and killed all the herds of buffalo attacks were expected by the travelers. In order to ... • 4. Don Juan Analysis The story Don Juan written in the 1600 s by Moliere is a comical controversial drama typical of Moliere s plays. Although Don Juan lived criticized for free thought and atheism . . . And an unbeliever overturning the foundation of religion the play has performed for over 200 years now recognized as one of Moliere s masterpieces. (91 Moliere). Additionally, Don Juan enjoys breaking up relationships for conquest and sport. Thus, Don Juan remains unconcerned his valet Sganarelle served him as a silent accomplice against his will. However, Sganarelle does express Don Juan s behavior with Gusman squire to Elvira. Furthermore, Sganarelle says A wedding doesn t mean a thing to him. It s the only sort of trap he sets for ensnaring women: he weds them left, right, and centre . . . I d rather serve the devil himself than Don Juan (96 97 Moliere). Moreover, Don Juan speaks of commitment to one woman as bondage or a death sentence. In the story Don Juan was once committed to his Elvira, presently has lost interest in her. Thus, Don Juan says What! Would you restrict a man to staying chained to the first woman who takes his fancy, has him give up everything for her and never look back again? ( 98 Misier). Therefore, Don Juan uses his expansive vocabulary to manipulate and persuade women of any background. Hence Don Juan remains bold in his efforts to steal a woman s affections insomuch he enchants and stirs debate between Charlotte and Mathurine. In the story Charlotte and Mathurine debate over whom Don Juan loves. Therefore Don Juan fuels the debate between Charlotte and Mathurine. Also, Don Juan says What do you want me to say. . .You both claim that I promised to marry you. But doesn t each one of you knows the truth without my needing to spell it out? Surely the one I have given my promise to can afford to laugh at anything the other one says (115 Moliere). • 5. Understanding The Real Life Events During The Oardwalk Empire oardwalk Empire, the show that demonstrates the real life events that occurred during the early 1920s in Atlantic City, New Jersey, represents several intercultural communication concepts. This historically based drama series provided through HBO was chosen because of its wide variety of themes, conflicts, and plots driven through certain means of communication and interactions among the characters. For instance, the communication and intercultural models observed while watching the television show only enhance the audience s entertainment and interest. Atlantic City was thrown back to the days of a lawless country, which was due to prohibition and the consumption of alcohol that was not going to be stopped by anyone. In fact, most political servants were involved in the daily activities and were either profiting from bootlegging alcohol or helping those who did. They profited monetarily and were in power and control because they could hide in the shadows and still appear to be the pillars of society. It could be said that the very definition of prohibition in the early 1920s where a patron could have any alcohol he desired as long as he was willing to pay for it. The same what Study Hall keeps students in their desks from 8:00pm to 10:00 pm, it s a great method of improving a student s responsibility. When someone is into a routine of doing something every day at the same time, he gets use to it and sometimes keeps that routine forever. One of the reasons study hall is done in Cushing is to provide discipline and responsibility to a student in order to study by your own in College in a near future. It will also make a student keep at least two hours a day to review and study for college. Keeping time for your studies is a great sign of responsibility. In many aspects, Study Hall contributes to a great future by providing responsibility and discipline in a student s studies. As a great preparation for college, Study Hall is known by helping students to improve their study skills in a great amount. One of the biggest worries of Mark was that he wouldn t be prepared to do homework by himself in college, but he was mistaken. Study Hall made him conscious of grades. • 7. Linguistic Bias Bias is a discernibly human quality; like all things human in nature, there lies deep in our consciousness values, axiology s, and prejudice. These biases , rather worldviews, create within each person their own rose coloured lenses with which they perceive, and more importantly, influence the world. To look at how bias can occur both blatantly and subtly in writing, three distinct forms will be analyzed; Linguistic Biases, Perhaps the most common bias is the linguistic bias. Simply, this is where the writer conveys information, emotion, and perspective in a biased manner. This can be done knowingly or unknowingly, but the negative impact to the readers doesn t change. In the case of a report by Career Services for the University of Wisconsin Stout, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The danger here is present, misrepresenting history is an omission of truth for untruth. When Ideology and beliefs overbear pertinent facts, it opens the door for Orwellian tactics in using biases like unreality to shape a fictional truth. In this case, the bias was used to shape Texas students understanding of the confederations values, rationale, and involvement with slavery and the trading thereof to suit a set of beliefs held amongst those in power. This shows that biases are prevalent in society and at times, very intentional. Lastly, likely the most pronounced bias is stereotyping; whether used in comedy, rhetoric, or everyday life, stereotyping is everywhere. The best example of this bias would be the recent 2015 Presidential election in the USA. Growing political polarization, with prevalent misinformation, and ignorance of the other side , creates an ideal powder keg for sweeping generalizations. A good indicator of stereotyping in the US follows from what adjectives are used to describe each party from their opposition, seen here in figure 1. Figure 1. (Martin, ... • 8. Essay and referencing Introduction The three communication theories I have applied to provide the most insight into understanding the dynamics of the observed conversation between two people are; the transmission model (Shannon Weaver 1949), Foulger s ecological model (Foulger 2004), and an expanded model of communication (Eunson 2012). In this essay I have used a conversation I had listened to which was between my friend (from here on will be named George) and his friend (from here on will be named Mark). Problems that arose during the conversation will be explained as well as how George and Mark overcame them. From there the essay will compare and contrast the three communication theories and decide which of these best simplify the conversation. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Figure 2: An Ecological Model of the Communication (Source: Foulger 2004) Eunson s expanded model of communication is more complex than Foulger s as well as Shannon and Weaver s models, though it is more appropriate to this conversation had between George and Mark due to the fact it shows that in order for the communication to happen the sender must pre edit and then encode the message pass the message onto the receiver where he decodes and edits the message. Eunson also takes into account the use of mechanical, behavioural and semantic factors of encoding, and understands that if the message is to be understood the receiver must be able to decode the message. This is particularly relevant, and highly important to this conversation between George and Mark due to the factors mentioned before. Context Figure 3: An expanded model of communication (Source: Eunson 2012) Conclusion I have found Shannon and Weavers transactional model too simple and cannot evaluate the complexities of this situation, and that Foulger s model too broad and not able to focus on the problems that need to be addressed. Therefore, I believe that Eunson s expanded model of communication is the most adequate to use out of the three models that were written about because Eunson s model has shown how a message from George is first pre edited ... • 9. Safety Systems Of The Airline Industry Long over a week ago, news that a commercial airliner operated by United Airlines was allegedly hacked and redirected in midair by One World Labs Founder Chris Roberts, sparked questions regarding whether such a task is possible and if so, what it may mean in terms of future transportation safety. With security always being a prime concern in the airline industry, this claim from Chris Roberts has raised a number of concerns from experts as well as the general public They are both eager to know the extent to which this story is true. Historically a plane s control systems have been very manual, based on hydraulics and mechanical circuits, with some form of automation of the control systems, however in the last couple of decades, the control systems have been upgraded and today most modern jet liners are controlled by electronic control systems also known as a fly by wire controls. These upgrades have been required in order to increase reliability as well as support the increased functionality required by the control systems to operate more sophisticated engines and much larger planes. Each new plane comes equipped more automated than the last. The question on everyone s mind is, should I worry? There are some fundamental things that airplane manufacturers and their related partners have done to protect against such attacks. First of all, there is a strong separation between the entertainment system and the avionics control systems. Of course after the recent claims there ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

High energy neutrino interactions monitored by the IceCube detector, an array of 5,160 basketball sized optical sensors buried a mile deep in a cubic kilometer of exceptionally clear ice near the south pole. Neutrinos are infinitesimally small and nearly massless particles that surround us at any given moment. Roughly one trillion from the Sun pass through a human s eyes every second, and they come in three types (called flavors): electron, muon, and tauon neutrinos, each name corresponding to three charged particles with which they pair. Since they interact so rarely, it s extremely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The neutrino interactions analyzed have energies in the trillion electron volt, or TeV, range. A mosquito puts out about one TeV. The detected neutrinos energy ranged from 6.3 TeV to 980 TeV. Miarecki performed much of the data analysis whilst working toward her PhD as an IceCube researcher. It s a multidisciplinary idea, she said in a news release. In order to understand if the cross section of neutrinos detected matches Standard Model predictions, the analysis used input from geologists who supplied models of the Earth s interior from seismic studies. With this, scientists were able to compare their data with a simulation of neutrinos passing through the Earth. In this study, researchers measured the flux of muon neutrinos as a function of their energy and their incoming direction. Neutrinos with higher energies and with incoming directions closer to the North Pole are more likely to interact with matter on their way through Earth. Image credit: IceCube Collaboration We created some of the data from seismic data bouncing off of various parts of the Earth, Miarecki told Futurism. Putting together all the constraints, including the gravitational constriction of the Earth, and you have a good model, she added. Switching to the Wet Berries, we see that there are two Dechaffers that can each store up to 1500bbl/hr, which will add up to a capacity of 3000bbl/hr. We can calculate the implied utilization of the wet berry Dechaffer by dividing the input rate (1500bbl/hr) by the capacity (3000bbl/hr) and the actual utilization by dividing the Flow Rate (600bbl/hr) by the capacity (3000bbl/hr). The Dryers set the standard for the wet berries because they are the bottleneck of the operation. There are three dryers that can process 200bbl/hr, giving us a total capacity of 600bbl/hr. The implied utilization is not very realistic because it takes the 1500bbl/hr input rate and divides it by the 600bbl/hr capacity. The actual utilization of a bottleneck is always 1.0 because it is operating at maximum capacity. Lastly, there are three separators that have a capacity of 400bbl/hr each, giving us a total of 1200bbl/hr. The implied utilization will be discovered as 1.25 because you are taking the 1500bbl/hr input rate and dividing it by 1200bbl/hr capacity. The actual utilization can be found by 600bbl/hr (wet berries) plus 375bbl/hr (dry berries) and using them as your input rate. So you will divide the 975bbl/hr by 1200bbl/hr capacity and get .8125. 2. Enter your answer and supporting arguments for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Amendment Of The United States Constitution The right to express ones opinions without censorship or restraint can be considered as a basic provision enshrined in the First Amendment to the United States Constitution. To elaborate, the first amendment to the constitution prohibit the legislative arm of government in making of any law abridging the freedom of speech, infringing on the freedom of the press and prohibiting the petitioning for a governmental redress of grievances. Post this amendment, there have been several cases where the Supreme Court has been required to interpret or make a decision to uphold its provisions. One of such landmark cases is the Hazelwood School District vs Kuhlmeier. The case involved two articles that were refused publication by a principal in a student newspaper. One of the articles dealt with the experience of students whose parents are divorce and the other with teenage pregnancy. In my view, the Supreme Court decision that restricting free speech is acceptable when the newspaper is not public is appropriate. First of all, the Students produced the school newspaper as part of their journalism class. Therefore it cannot be classified as a public newspaper that could leverage the provisions of the bill of rights. For this reason, the principal in my opinion has the rights to censor such school sponsored student publications when they have purposes reasonably related to genuine educational concerns. • 31. What Is The Theme Of Society In Fahrenheit 451 As society progresses, technology and customs often progress proportionally. Social customs, and the way a group of people function as a whole are often altered by significant events or a change in societal variables. Occasionally, this leads to situations in which certain facets of society begin to drastically differ from their original form. Take for example, the abolition of slavery in the United States in 1865. Slavery had been a vastly unchallenged component of American society until that point (excluding the period of abolition efforts). When this changed, the government had to implement a number of laws that reversed prior legislation concerning slavery. In many ways, Ray Bradbury s fictional society in his dystopian novel, Fahrenheit 451 mirrors this by presenting a repressive community in which many factors contribute to mass apathy and a passive state of perpetual passive occupation. Social contact is central to human happiness, but as our technology increases in its proficiency, there tends to be a disconnect in interpersonal contact. The caring is actualized in the moment because of the choices and actions taken by the patient and nurse, one serving as the caregiver, the other the recipient of care. During these moments how the nurse chooses to act and portray him or herself will have a significant impact on the caring moment as well as future caring moments in relation to the treatment outcomes (Alligood, 2008). Dr. Watson s goals when creating her theory, correlated with the mental spiritual growth for self and others, finding meaning in one s own existence and experiences, discovering inner power and control, and potentiating instances of transcendence and self healing (Watson,2007). Since Sweden has filed for an EAW that has been approved by the UK, the UK is under a formal legal obligation to extradite Assange to Sweden. An EAW is a legal document that obligates European members to surrender persons who have committed or are suspected of committing crimes in EU territories.15 The United Kingdom counter argues Ecuador s claim that Assange is a political refugee who has been granted political asylum on the grounds that he is escaping persecution due to his political beliefs. They see no relevance of Assange s political actions or views to this case as the primary purpose of his extradition is due to allegations of sexual assault that have supposedly occurred in Sweden. Due to sexual assault being a crime that has no known relation to his political views, the UK claims that Assange does not fit the criteria listed within Article 1 of the United Nations Convention and Protocol Relating to the Status of Refugees. Therefore, Assange s status as a political refugee is unfounded in the opinion of the UK. On the topic of his potential extradition to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
