This document discusses emotional intelligence (EI), including its history and key aspects. EI was officially coined in 1990 and refers to one's ability to recognize and understand emotions and use this awareness to manage oneself and relationships. There are five domains of EI: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship management, and change catalyst. Research shows EI may matter more for success than IQ, as IQ predicts only 6% of job success while EI contributes to abilities like motivation, trust-building, and resilience, which are important for the workplace.
