EDUCATION TECHNOLOGY
Educational technology is the
use of both physical
hardware, software,
and educational theoretic to
facilitate learning and
improving performance by
creating, using, and
managing
appropriate technological pr
ocesses and resources.
WHAT IS COMMUNICATION?
The process of communication is
what allows us to interact with other
people; without it, we would be
unable to share knowledge or
experiences with anything outside of
ourselves. Common forms of
communication include speaking,
writing, gestures, touch and
broadcasting.
Why is communication important?

1) Important for expressing
information, behavior and
our feelings and thoughts.
2) Helps to understand and
respond to other’s feelings,
thoughts, knowledge and
behavior.
PROCESS OF COMMUNICATION
Types of Communication
1.VERBAL COMMUNICATION
2.NON-VERBAL COMMUNICATION
3.WRITTEN COMMUNICATION
4.VISUAL COMMUNICATION
1.VERBAL COMMUNICATION
 Verbal communication is the use of
language to transfer information through
speaking or sign language.
1) Use a strong, confident speaking voice
2) Use active listening
3) Avoid filler words
4) Use of words, numbers and symbols.
5) Tone, pitch, quality and rate of speech
carries more weight than the words
6) The latter convey the emotions and
meaning, regardless of the content of the
message.
7
2. NON-VERBAL COMMUNICATION
 Non-verbal communication is the use of body
language, gestures and facial expressions to
convey information to others. It can be used
both intentionally and unintentionally.
1) Notice how your emotions feel physically
2) Be intentional about your nonverbal
communications
3) Mimic nonverbal communications you find effective
4) Facial expressions
5) Eye contact, pupil dilation
6) Gestures
7) Body language and posture
8) Proximity and touch
8
3. WRITTEN COMMUNICATION
Written communication is the act of
writing, typing or printing symbols like
letters and numbers to convey
information. It is helpful because it
provides a record of information for
reference.
1) Strive for simplicity.
2) Don’t rely on tone.
3) Take time to review your written
communications.
4) Keep a file of writing you find effective or
enjoyable.
5) The more you know, the easier and more effective
your writing
9
4.VISUAL COMMUNICATION
 Visual communication is the act of using
photographs, art, drawings, sketches, charts and
graphs to convey information. Visuals are often
used as an aid during presentations to provide
helpful context alongside written and/or verbal
communication.
1) Ask others before including visuals:- If you are
considering sharing a visual aid in your presentation or
email, consider asking others for feedback. Adding
visuals can sometimes make concepts confusing or
muddled.
2) Consider your audience:- Be sure to include visuals
that are easily understood by your audience. For
example, if you are displaying a chart with unfamiliar
data, be sure to take time and explain what is
happening in the visual and how it relates to what you
are saying.
10
Communication barriers
 Physical barriers
 Insufficient
warning
 Individual
differences
 Lack of feedback
 Inference
 Insecurity
 Inattention
 Poor expression
 Premature
evaluation
 Emotions
 Inconsistency
FEW FACTS:-
- You have over 630 muscles in your body.
- Eye muscles are the busiest muscles in the body. Scientists estimate they
may move more than 100,000 times a day.
- You have over 30 muscles in your face to help you smile or frown. It takes
17 muscles to smile and 43 to frown.
SO SMILE EVERYTIME YOU SEE SOMEONE.
- The strongest muscle in your body is your tongue. USE IT EFFECTIVELY.
- It takes the interaction of 72 different muscles to produce human speech.
12
THE ART OF LISTENING
“If we were supposed to
talk more than listen, we
would have been given two
mouths and one ear.”
