This document discusses the innovation and diffusion process of implementing e-portfolios in K-12 schools. It outlines the 4 stages of this process: 1) identifying the problem or need, such as alternative forms of student assessment; 2) researching e-portfolios through studies by REFLECT Initiative and key thinkers like Dr. Helen Barrett; 3) developing e-portfolios and addressing potential problems for intended K-12 institution audiences; 4) commercializing and adopting e-portfolios using strategies to gain innovators, early adopters, and overcome laggards and skeptics. The goal is to cultivate 21st century learning skills through e-portfolio assessment.
