Personal Narrative-My Crisis Interventionist Identity
My Crisis Interventionist Identity The Event Most of people involved into a crisis at least once in their
life. It is always hard to simply overcome and resolve the crisis, but once we get over it, the
experience will melt into our blood and become a part of ourselves. Two years ago, I have been
involved into a crisis and had a really hard time during that period. I am a transfer student from China.
I used to study Nursing in my Chinese university. Since there was a cooperative program between my
Chinese university and Old Dominion University (ODU), students like me supposed to study two
years in China and two years in ODU, then finally we will get two degrees from both universities.
After I completed two years studies in China, I went to ODU in order to continue my degree.
However, things happened after I went to ODU. Some leaders in my Chinese university turned to
crime because of corruption; to be more specific, they put students tuition into their own pocket but
did not do their work well. After the first semester in ODU, I heard that the ... Show more content on

I felt helpless for every seconds during that time since my parents and I was not only more than tens
of thousands of kilometers away, but also 12 hours of jet lag. Fortunately, all of our family members
stuck together and we have the determination to overcome difficulties. It was a hard process to
overcome the crisis, but some coping skills did help us a lot. When we were just in crisis, I was pretty
emotional and irritable. I felt unfair because I am not the only transfer student from China, and other
Chinese universities programs are still working well. I started to complain with my dad, and it usually
ended with tears. Every night, my family will have a heart to heart communication via video, and we
will discuss what should we do step by step. My dad is a pretty positive person, and his positive

Advantages Of The Irc Structures
2.5.1. Practical Limitations
Min et al (2011) report that despite the advantages of the IRC structures described above, the cost of
SMAs relative to conventional reinforcing materials (such as steel), in conjunction with the large
amounts of concrete that are used in practice make IRCs viable for only extremely specialised
applications.
Due to the thermomechanical propertied of SMAs, the IRC properties may vary with the ambient
temperature (Menna et al, 2014; pg33).
In addition, as the mechanism of the martensite to austenite phase transformation requires heating, the
actualisation of the large scale heating of the IRC poses an extra hurdle to their application. Min et al
(2011) also note that certain hydration products of cement are unstable at and following treatment at
elevated temperatures, which could lead to uncertainty following treatment for damage recovery.
However, control of the stoichiometry of the SMA used may allow the required Af temperature to be
low enough to prevent such uncertainties. Heat treatments and cold rolling may also be used to
manipulate the transformation properties of SMAs (Mahesh et al, 2009).
2.5.2. Stoichiometric Considerations
SMAs are extremely sensitive to changes in composition (Menna et al, 2014; pg33). Small changes
can significantly change the mechanical properties of the material and so strict quality control is
required to ensure suitable properties. The Ti Ni alloy system is examined in detail above.
Various ternary alloys can

Dstopia As A Dystopia In The Giver
n society wasn t as perfect as he thought it was. Jonas s community is a dystopia because there is no
contact with others outside the community, there is killing of the young and old, and there is no
freedom. Jonas s community is a dystopia because they are isolated from everything. The citizens of
the community have no knowledge of what animals are and when Jonas tries to tell his sister, Lily, she
laughs as stated on page 127 in the novel... did you know that once there really were elephants? Live
ones? . She glanced down at the ragged comfort object and grinned. Right. she said, skeptically. Sure
Jonas. . This comes to show that Jonas s sister has no clue that there were once living, breathing
animals. The inhabitants of his community also have no form of technology, which means they can t
communicate with others living outside the community. There are no phones, no TVs, no computers,
etc. Their community is totally isolated in terms of technology and using it to communicate with
others outside of their community. Not only do they not have technology, but they don t have books.
Only two people have books in the whole community Jonas and The Giver. There is also no form of
weather, even sunshine. The residents of this community have no idea what rain, snow, and other
natural events are. Could you imagine no sunshine? On page 218 it states Jonas had never seen rain
which further proves my point on the fact that they have never seen any kind of weather. In

Cultural Relativism Analysis
Cultural moral relativism begins with the idea that morality is relative to culture and that a person s
beliefs and activities are socially approved customs. Therefore, morality is a matter of actions that are
only morally obligatory for a person if it is accepted by that person s culture. Ruth Benedict illustrates
the fact that humans have a full range of customs that human behavior is capable of. The selection
process is non rational and subconscious, similar to selection process for human speech. Using this
analogy, Ruth Benedict was able to prove the cultural moral relativism by showing that nothing
underlies customs, nothing by which can be evaluated. Therefore, cross culture judgement are not
valid. The scenario states that a colleague ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Experiment On The Concentration Of Acetic Acid
Year 11 Chemistry Summative Practical
CHEMICAL QUANTITIES
Aim:
To calculate the concentration of acetic acid in vinegar, CH3COOH via titration methods.
Apparatus:
0.100 M standard solution of sodium hydroxide (NaOH)
Household vinegar (CH3COOH)
Phenolphthalein indicator
Distilled water
200ml volumetric flask
250 ml conical flask
20ml volumetric pipette
Burette
Retort stand
Filter funnel
Method:
Before the commencement of the practical, all necessary glassware and measurement tools were
rinsed appropriately. The pipette was rinsed three times with vinegar solution, whereas the volumetric
flask was rinsed three times with distilled water. 20mL of the vinegar solution was measured and
transferred to the volumetric flask, where it was diluted with distilled water by filling the flask to the
200mL graduation line. A 20ml aliquot of the aforementioned solution was extracted from the
volumetric flask via the volumetric pipette and subsequently transferred to the conical flask. Three
drops of phenolphthalein indicator were then added. The burette was filled with the provided NaOH
solution of 0.1M, with volume measurements taken from the bottom of the meniscus. The conical
flask was placed under the burette, from which a rough titration of the vinegar solution began.
Titrations halted once a permanent color change was visible in the conical flask. This process was
repeated until three concordant titre values were obtained.

How Comedy Makes Us Better People Summary
In the BBC article How comedy makes us better people Mary O Hara claims comedy holds a very
relevant place in not only British politics and culture, but in the entire world because it can be used to
comprehend and come to terms with confusing events or tragedies, challenge the authority of our
governments, and destroy bigoted states of mind. Humor continues to mystify the people who study it
to this day. Why does humor play a major part in our everyday lives? What is the significance of it? O
Hara interviews experts from many different fields discussing comedy and its impact on the emotions,
politics, and differing points of view. For instance, the tragedy of 9/11 had many jokes following its
events because people around the world were trying to grasp why such a terrible thing ... Show more

From neuroscientists to comedians themselves, O Hara litters the article with reliable experts to ensure
the points made in the article are diverse and rooted in credibility. Without these resources, saying that
[c]omedy is more than just a pleasant way to pass an evening (2) would be disregarded as a matter of
opinion. By supplying each point with an array of examples, O Hara manages to show the reader that
many beside herself share her points. After planting a statement, O Hara makes sure that she backs up
her claims with plenty of evidence. When examining how comedy changes people s views of certain
minority groups, O Hara lays out two different examples of real situations where this is put into affect.
She touches on the homosexual community, disabled community, and even on a man who shared his
experience from being a policeman to expose nonsensical policies (5). By both using multiple
resources and sharing numerous examples, O Hara successfully convinced the reader that comedy
does indeed hold a very significant place in our

Biology Heat Loss Practical Write Up
Biology Coursework Practical – Heat Loss The aim of this practical is to find to what extent does the
surface area to volume ratio of an object affect the rate of heat loss from the object Hypothesis: As the
ratio of surface area to volume of an object decreases the rate of heat loss from the object will also
decrease. Objects with the same surface area to volume ratios loose heat at the same rate so long as
there are not other variables involved. Background Knowledge: The surface area to volume ratio of an
object is determined by dividing the surface area by the volume and putting it into a ratio of one. e.g.
A flask of volume 200cm3 and a surface area of 160cm2 will have a surface area to volume ratio of:

One the flasks have been filled they will be heated to get the water to 90oC. Once the flasks are both
at 90oC bungs will be placed in the top which have thermometers running through them. Using these
thermometers the temperature will be recorded every 30 seconds for 20 minutes. This will then be
repeated. The experiment is repeated to improve the accuracy of the data. In order to ensure a fair test
the experiment will be started at the same temperature each time and will also be allowed to run for
the same length of time. Also the depth of the thermometers in each flask will remain constant for both
tests. The volume of water will be as equal as possible in both experiments however due to human
inaccuracy it is unlikely that the volumes will be exactly the same. Hopefully any variations between
experiments will be so small as to be of no consequence. At the end of the experiment the results will
be plotted in a table and the average results will be calculated and plotted on a comparative graph so
that it is possible to see any variations between the two sets of data. Results: Minutes Temp 100cm3 1

his writings Faulkner produced images that can be compared to Gothic castles such as the Sartoris
plantation house in Sartoris and Sanctuary; the ruins of the Old Frenchman s place in Sanctuary and
The Hamlet; the Compson house, in a state of dilapidation, in Absalom, Absalom! and The Sound and
the Fury; Sutpen s Hundred in Absalom, Absalom! from creation to destruction; Miss Burden s house

the Dust; the Backus plantation in decline in The Town and as transformed by Mr. Harriss in Knight s
Gambit and The Mansion; the old De Spain mansion as transformed by Flem in The Town and The
Mansion. All of these are castles in state of decline. They also are frequently equipped with slave or
servant quarters. Only the novel Intruder in the Dust lacks a castle instead it has a middle class home
where a family lives happily. There are also in his books the classic gothic character types in just
about every novel. The Romantic, Byronic, or Faustian heroes, the

Stress Of Stress In Nursing
With the high demand of medical professionals and increasing numbers of people with chronic
diseased, there might be a time where one nurse have to over see more patients than normal. Taking
care of extra patients than normal might bring some work burnout and prevent nursing professionals
from performing their job effectively. A study was done to measure the stress level of nurses working
on the oncology department and the effect of stress leading the nurses to consider looking for job in
other departments. It was found that 35% of the nurses were experiencing emotional stress and 17 %
were depersonalized which then resulted in considering for other opportunities in less stressful
departments (Davis S, Lind BK, Sorensen C, 2013). Stress can be experience from many factors such
as death of a patient, patient s family history, severity of patient s health condition, and emotional
attachment with patients. As a nursing professional, one have to witness devastating situations such as
death of loved ones. It has been found that death and close relationship with patients and working
environment are the main factors causing stress among nurses (Pavlos S et. al, 2016). Despite the fact
that nursing professionals have to go through many stressful situations at work and may be in their
personal life, how much attentive can they be while performing their nursing duties?
It requires a lot of positive attitude and strong personality to be able to perform nursing duties properly

Alfie Kohn Competition
Alfie Kohn states that competition by its very nature is always unhealthy and has written an essay

the world watches on television, to spelling bees children in elementary and middle school participate
in. Competition is a part of our daily lives whether we re aware of it or not; however, it does have its
disadvantages that leads me to support Kohn s opinion. People watch sports all year long. They decide
who they think is the best team and then they support that team. If they think their team is better than
another, but they encounter a fan of the opposite team, hostilities ensue over their differences in
opinions. But when the actual

Analysis on McNabs Island Essay
McNabs Island is located at the mouth of the Halifax Harbor, and its size is approximately 395
hectares. On McNabs Island, the highest elevation is 45 meters. The elevation of this island rises
toward the middle so that the elevation of central land is higher than the edge. Moreover, the
proportion of its flat areas is approximately 20%, which mostly occurs at hilltops and coastal beaches.
The proportion of gentle and moderate slopes are around 25%, and most of them occur in the middle
area of the island; the proportion of the steep slopes is about 30% which are located near and at the
coasts. Furthermore, from the slope and elevation map which we did before, we can tell that the

On the opposite, if there is a flat or gentle ground, and some kinds of vegetation covering, the volume
and speed of overland flow will decrease. For the coastal environment and processes of the island, the
low energy waves create flat beaches because waves sediments are pushed by the wind toward the
coastline. On the opposite, the high energy waves create coastal cliffs from wave erosion, and when
coastal cliffs are formed, waves will break and release a great deal of energy. In addition, the island
shorelines vary from cobbled stone to fine sand, and with salt marshes in a few coves such as the one
near Maugers Beach. The sandy shores are mostly located at Ives Cove and Wreck Cove. Cobbles
shores are mostly located at Hangmans Beach and Finlays. In addition, there are a few rocky shores in
the region such as the one which is located at Maugers Beach or McNabs Cove. Furthermore, there are
some infrastructures near the coast such as building, wharves and streets. For the solar aspect and
micro climate of McNabs Island, most slopes are facing to the east, west and south, and there only a
few north facing slopes. Actually, north slopes always receive less solar energy, and south slopes are
much brighter and warmer (Course Lecture, 2013). However, north facing slopes seem to have a
moister soil and more vegetation. Even though south facing slopes receive more direct sunlight and
snow will melt

Sex Offender Registration System
Since the early 1990s, there has not been a classification of criminals who have been subjected to
more extensive legislation than sex offenders. A common belief that sex offenders posed a greater
threat to reoffend compared to other types of criminals had surfaced, encouraging immediate action to
protect the public from such individuals. In a short amount of time, society had implemented sex
offender registration laws and sex offender notification laws in which sexual offenders would have to
abide by. These innovational registration laws required sex offenders to regularly provide any
identifying details, criminal history, and contact information to law enforcement authorities that would
be made available to the public through the use of secluded registries exclusively for those who
commit acts of sexual violence. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While the United States sex offender registry system is designed to be an effective approach to protect
the general population, this method is far from ideal. Research shows that at times the system in place
is unjust to its registrants. Newburn supports this in his law journal when he notes, Registration laws
are too broad, registration periods are too long, community notification laws have resulted in public
harassment against registrants, and residency restrictions exile registrants from entire areas and
support networks needed for rehabilitation (Newburn 550 551). Regardless of any research, it is
crucial to understand the history behind sex offender registries and the legislation surrounding them
before any conclusion can be made as to whether it serves as a beneficial or non beneficial

Nature Vs Nurture Debate Essay
The oldest arguments in the history of psychology is the Nature vs Nurture discussion. Both are
legitimate and it is very hard to decide whether a person s development is prone to his DNA or
influenced by his life experience and environment. Presently, nature and nurture both play important
role in human development. However what remains unknown is if human is developed solely because
of nature or nurture. . As of now, we know that both nature and nurture play important roles in human
development, but we have not known yet whether we are developed majorly because of nature or due
to nurture. Nature is the collection of genes in each human cell which determines the different traits
that we have such as eye/hair color, ear size, height etc. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Classical and operant conditioning are both similar because they involve making association between
behavior and events in an organism s environment. They are guided by the law of association. Classic
conditioning g was originated by Mr. Pavlov and it is sometimes referred to respondent conditioning.
Classic conditioning facilitate learning as an involuntary response resulting from an experience. It
occurs when you lean to associate different stimulus which are unconditioned stimulus and
unconditioned response. While operant conditioning facilitate learning as a changes in behavior as a
result of experience that occurs after a response. It involves voluntary behavior which is followed with
either reinforcement or punishment, Reinforcement will cause a behavior to increase while
punishment decreases a behavior. There are also two types of punishment that occur in operant
conditioning. Positive punishment is the addition of something undesirable. Examples would be a
child receiving a spanking or receiving extra chores for misbehaving. The other type of punishment is
negative punishment. Negative punishment is the removal of something pleasing. Examples would be
a child being placed in timeout or losing video game privileges for misbehavior.

People Must Be Their Own Individual Person
In today s society, people believe that they need to conform to other s ideas and ways. Conforming to
others takes away from being an individual. People need to be themselves and not like someone else
just because society says so. Fitting in with people is not always what it seems to be. Just because
everyone is doing it does not mean it is right. People should be who they want to be, not who they
think they need to be. Everyone should be their own individual person. Society today is full of people
who want to fit in with the so called popular people. Everyone thinks that the group is popular, so they
must have great ideas and thoughts. They might have some great ideas, but they might not be
everyone s ideas. People should not have to change who they are or what they think just to fit in with
people. Just because the popular group seems to be the group to be in, does not mean that is all that is
out there. If everyone stays an individual, there is bound to be people who have similar ideas. Do not
conform to what others say or do just to fit in. Everyone s thoughts matter even if there is some doubt
they do not. Following society puts people in the so called perfect box. The more people think like
others than themselves, the more they become immune to being an individual. Society has a hold on
people that may not be noticed. Everyone has an idea of the perfect person, which comes from society.
There are some instances where everyone has conformed to this one idea because

A Study Of Personality Between Samsung, Samsung And Motorola
Against: ========= The inner characteristics, unique to individuals define their personality it
reflects the individual differences. Some individuals are very social, some are timid, some adventurous
and some methodical. While one s personality is often interpreted by those we interact with, the
person has their own vision of their personality this influences their buying behaviour. Thus, a study
of personality is very important for marketers, as it can help them differentiate and segment consumers
into separate groups on the basis of their personality traits. Consumers associate they choices with
their personality, physical activities, associations with others and their interests. Thus their buying
behaviour is mapped to their choices with their psycographic measures (how they live, work and
play). Personality of the buyer defines the items that are more likely to be valued. Consumers are
willing to pay a premium for items that reflect their personality. Motorola did a spectacular job with
the mobile Moto X . It is Motorola s flagship phone, priced appropriately for a flagship device.

Your associates delivered beyond expectations, and she ended up returning the product to your
competitor and purchasing from you because of it. So I visited your store while I was in town
(Cumming, GA). I m impressed with the store layout, the service, and the quality of retailing, in
general. And being an outdoor/sports enthusiast, the positive experience resonated with me. I did more
research after returning to the Raleigh area, and I m excited to learn that you re opening a store nearby.
ABOUT MY RESUME
I have enormous respect for tradition, but occasionally it creates barriers to success. For example,
recapping 20+ years of responsibilities, achievements, purposeful skill development, and complex
contributions in two pages doesn t do justice to recruiters, hiring managers, employers, or people
changing careers. And Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) add more restrictions and nuances to the
process.
The resume I ve submitted attempts to summarize my most relevant experience based on the job
description, but the chances are good that you ll be looking for things that didn t make the cut. Rest
assured, if it s related to retail, leadership, management, general business acumen, operations, training,
communications, sales, or customer service, I probably have in depth experience. But even if I don t, I
ll figure it out quickly, guaranteed.
WHY ME?
My resume just covers the highlights.

Books each have their own story to tell, similar to a person s story. The story never contains a final
denouement, just like how a person s story can always grow. In this way, books and lives are

Clementi? Someone likes him, ha! I scoffed. But my subconsciousness thought otherwise. I mentally

Gst Reform Proposal Essay
Policy issue:
Should the federal government proceed with broadening the base AND increasing the rate of the GST
rate to 15%?
Background:
Treasurer,
Despite Paul Keating expressing support for a consumption tax in 1985, the GST did not gain serious
political traction until it formed the centrepiece of the Fightback! platform championed by Liberal
opposition leader John Hewson. The difficulties of explaining the nuances of a goods and services tax
(GST) to the public significantly contributed to Hewson losing in 1993 what many commentators
considered to be an unlosable election (Eccleston 2013).
Since its legislative inception in 1999 by the Liberal/National Howard government, the GST has
formed a central role in Australia s taxation regime. In 2014 15, revenue from the GST ... Show more

Through increasing government revenue by approximately $27 billion the package would improve the
budgetary position of the government and reduce the burden that growing budget deficits impose on
future generations.
However, an issue with increasing or broadening consumption taxes such as the GST is that low
income households are disproportionately impacted due to flat increases in the price of goods and
services costing a higher percentage of their disposable income when compared to wealthier
households (Congressional Budget Office 1992, p. 75). A survey of low to middle income households
showed that 89% of respondents were either very concerned or quite concerned about broadening the
GST base (NSW Council of Social Service 2015, p. 39). In response, the Grattan Institute suggests
that GST reform can be made more progressive if it is bundled with a larger fiscal reform package
such as higher welfare payments and targeted tax

World War One Essay
Question and answer format of everything in world war 1 1. Machine guns: These weapons were first
used in the American Civil War to devastating effect. But with World War One their effectiveness
reached frightening new levels. Firing up to 600 bullets a minute (the equivalent of 250 men with
rifles), Machine Guns were then deemed to be ‘weapons of mass destruction . Machine guns would
often be grouped together to maintain a constant defensive position. 2. Artillery: These were the new
and upgraded versions of cannons. Never in the history of man, where there so many cannons used in
one war alone. For four years the British had been using artillery and firing 170 million shells in that
time. But Germany had a plan up their sleeve. For ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The basic idea of a flamethrower is to spread fire by launching burning fuel. The earliest
flamethrowers date as far back as the 5th century B.C. These took the form of lengthy tubes filled with
burning solids (such as coal or sulphur), and which were used in the same way as blow guns: by
blowing into one end of the tube the solid material inside would be propelled towards the operator s
enemies. 11. Trench Mortars: As with the grenade the mortar was yet another old weapon which found
a new lease of life during World War One. A mortar is essentially a short, stumpy tube designed to fire
a projectile at a steep angle (by definition higher than 45 degrees) so that it falls straight down on the
enemy. From this simple description it will be immediately apparent that the mortar was ideally suited
for trench warfare, hence the common application of the trench prefix. 2. What is no man s land: No
Man s Land is the term used by soldiers to describe the ground between the two opposing trenches. Its
width along the Western Front could vary a great deal. The average distance in most sectors was about
250 yards (230 metres). No Man s Land contained a considerable amount of barbed wire. In the areas

Omniscient Narrator
It is a 3rd person narrator, which means that the narrator describes the story s people as he or she. It is
an omniscient 3rd person narrator as you can see when the narrator says She passed on her way,
thinking: He s in love. This quotation illustrates why it is an omniscient narrator, because it highlights
that the narrator knows a person s feelings and thoughts. The fact that it is an omniscient narrator
gives the reader the ability to realize that the main character has a spilt personality. The narrator
describes how peo ple look at the main character s facade, but when you can see his thoughts you
know how he really is. The narrator is all things considered a very describing narrator as you can see
when he uses the entire first page on just describing how lovely New York is. The narrator is
trustworthy because he knows anything and he narrates the story with a neutral point of view. It makes
him more reliable because he just wants to narrate a story.
As a result this gives us the capacity to understand and relate to the characters. It pro vides us the
knowledge about the characters that we else would have missed. So saying it makes it easier for us to
understand the story.

A Study On Presence Centered Youth Ministry
In reading a book it is typical to make notes and highlight passages. However, with Mike King s
Presence Centered Youth Ministry, what started with highlighters, turned to pencil, then sticky notes.
Finally, read now and then read again later became the mantra. It is infrequently that books resonate
with our own theology and our own transformational journeys, but that is the situation with Presence
Centered Youth Ministry.
Thesis for Presence Centered Youth Ministry One must really dig into the book to get to the thesis.
That is not to say the introduction and the entire first chapter is ineffective, quite the opposite is true. It
is necessary to understand the context and transformation of King s life in order to appreciate the
thesis. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
King recounts his transition from youth to youth pastor in a conservative setting with a pharisaic
leaning. The real beauty is the ability to use this background and rely on the Spirit, scripture and
tradition to inform the remainder of his theology.
Author s Credentials
King uses Presence Centered Youth Ministry as a teaching tool. Beginning with the current setting, he
then identifies the traits of a spiritual leader, practices that invite the presence of the Spirit into
ministry, scripture, prayer, and a rule of life as means for meeting God. Each of the seven chapters
provides sound reasoning and scriptural support which is truly rooted in Christ. Furthermore, King has
thirty years of ministry experience as well as holding positions within the area of youth ministry at a
national level.
Author s Arguments
King s primary argument is that of the current decline of mainline denominational catechesis,
particularly youth through several factors identified by Hart in Deconstructing Evangelicalism (Pg.
30). These factors include Succession, Lack of Tradition, Age Segregation, and Decisionism (Pg. 30,
32, 33, 35). The cumulative effect of these factors is the loss of a consistent catechesis and formation
strategy. Our youth, King provides, are prepared and able to handle a variety of complex practices for
discipleship that

Marxism In The Grapes Of Wrath
The Grapes of Wrath tells the bitter story of the Joad family as it struggles to survive and to maintain
its dignity in the middle of the Great Depression. But it is also the story of the social class of people
like the Joads, tenant farmers who have lost their land and decide to move to California in hope of
finding a better life. John Steinbeck wrote The Grapes of Wrath, in 1939, amid the Great Depression,
in response to the enduring he saw of individuals with disadvantages. He wrote regarding Oklahomans
that were incapable to continue farming since of the disastrous climate conditions. Particularly, he
wrote about the Joad family having to emigrate to California. Steinbeck composed the novel from a
Marxist point of view. Steinbeck is supporting Marxist thoughts by delineating the distinction of
individuals included in capitalism, as the owners take advantage of the helpless.
In the Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck, Steinbeck uses Marxist beliefs to plot the long battle
experienced by the Joad family. The Joads encounters illustrate that the Bourgeoise mishandle their
control in order to control the Proletariats, estranging and abusing their ... Show more content on

Workplace Stress In The Workplace
Nowadays workplace stress is a major concern for several organisations. According to surveys from
the American institute of stress (2017), 80% of the workers experience distress at work and half of
them prefer to learn to manage stress. In general, job stress is a common issue, which does not only
affect organisations but also workers. Noted by Stranks (2005), stress can arise from various sources,
including low ambiguity and personal conflicts which are likely to contribute to the inefficiency of
organisations and workers, namely, increasing absenteeism or low performances in employees. The
essay will primarily discuss the problems and solutions of stress for organisations and individuals,
respectively. Subsequently, it will compare the solutions for both sides of view. Thus, this essay will
seek the most effective techniques to combat workplace stress at both organisation and individual
levels by comparing several alternatives of stress management
Unquestionably, modern businesses have become more complex as compared to the past. Such
complexity contributes to high pressure at work and Fontana (1997) states that workplace stress can
come from several reasons, such as role conflict, frequent clashes with colleagues or superiors and
inadequate training. Consequently, these causes might generate detrimental effects to organisations.
Referring to EU OSHA (2017), the negative effects include the loss of productivity, the increase in
absenteeism and other health related costs.

Jenson wrote, these individuals are weeping teen at the airport glimpsing a rock star, or the roaring,
maniacal sports fan rioting at a soccer game (Lewis, p.12). I think this is the type of fans that people
often imagine by hearing the word fan . Within frenzied or hysterical crowd, there is two big
categories; entertainment fans and sports fans. The point of being frenzied or hysterical crowd is to
feel solidarity and to form a community outside of their everyday life. According to the ethnography
of Bruce Springsteen fans, the author quoted a meaning of being the Springsteen fan; Ruth Finnegan
(1989) has pointed out the importance of people s devotion to certain musical worlds , in which they
play in or follow a local musical group or listen to certain musical genre, as a way to shape personal
and communal identity (Cavicchi, 1998, p.4). In addition to this general explanation of music fans,
Cavicchi explained, among Springsteen fans, the idea of connection means more than just having an
affinity for Springsteen s music; it means making the music a deeply felt part of one s life, of having
an ongoing, shared relationship with Springsteen the artist (Cavicchi, p.41). Thus among of all
Springsteen fans, being a Springsteen fan means not only they like his music, but Springsteen and his

Brief History Of Field Hockey
Introduction: A Brief History
Field hockey s origins can be traced back 4000 years to ancient Egypt, Greece and Persia, although the
game, as we have all come to know it, was developed in Britain in the late 19th century (Longstreth,
2014) . It is said to be the oldest team sport in history (Girasole, 2010) . Field Hockey s original name
was the ball and stick game. Hockey was initially played with a cube, instead of the ball we use today.
Hockey was initially considered to be too dangerous for women, but it became socially accepted when
women were allowed to play sports such as lawn tennis and croquette (Girasole, 2010). The first
Women s field hockey team was formed in 1887 in England. Hockey made its debut in the Olympics
in 1908 and thus the International Hockey Federation was assembled (Girasole, 2010). Today, field
hockey is the second largest team sport in the world, played in over 100 countries (McBryde, 2013).

such as men having higher testosterone levels, allowing them to build muscle mass faster, and men
having lower flexibility, the men would thus have to do more flexibility exercises in order to abstain
from injury. Another example would be that the links would have a different training program to the
goalkeeper. The links would have a greater emphasis on fitness and speed, while the goalkeeper would
have more of an emphasis on flexibility and skill, although fitness would also be a large aspect. It is
imperative that a goalkeeper knows how to save a goal and is able to do so without injuring

Tilted Arc
The Destruction of Public Art Tilted Arc (Figure 1) was brought down on the 15th of March of 1989
by the General Services Administration (GSA) in the centre of New York s federal plaza. Tilted Arc
was a site specific work of a curved steel wall or barrier, that was 120 feet long and 12 feet high, with
an arch that gave the effect of the wall leaning inwards. The GSA commissioned Richard Serra to
build a sculpture for the Art in Architecture program that would be placed in the plaza in front of the
Jacob K Davits Federal building. The work was set up in 1981 and received a few critical comments.
However, it was only when William Diamond, an appointee GSA New York Regional Administrator,
started to investigate a bit more that he created substantial arguments against the sculpture to try and
relocate it. Tilted Arc then became a controversial piece of work that involved the art world and major
associations and resulted in a lawsuit and public hearing in 1985. The main issues that surrounded the
controversy relate to the way in which the space was transformed, the rights of the artist, and
censorship. In addition, we must question the role of public art in society, if certain works should be
considered public art, and the ways in which power and politics can influence the arts. Richard Serra

  • 2. Personal Narrative-My Crisis Interventionist Identity My Crisis Interventionist Identity The Event Most of people involved into a crisis at least once in their life. It is always hard to simply overcome and resolve the crisis, but once we get over it, the experience will melt into our blood and become a part of ourselves. Two years ago, I have been involved into a crisis and had a really hard time during that period. I am a transfer student from China. I used to study Nursing in my Chinese university. Since there was a cooperative program between my Chinese university and Old Dominion University (ODU), students like me supposed to study two years in China and two years in ODU, then finally we will get two degrees from both universities. After I completed two years studies in China, I went to ODU in order to continue my degree. However, things happened after I went to ODU. Some leaders in my Chinese university turned to crime because of corruption; to be more specific, they put students tuition into their own pocket but did not do their work well. After the first semester in ODU, I heard that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I felt helpless for every seconds during that time since my parents and I was not only more than tens of thousands of kilometers away, but also 12 hours of jet lag. Fortunately, all of our family members stuck together and we have the determination to overcome difficulties. It was a hard process to overcome the crisis, but some coping skills did help us a lot. When we were just in crisis, I was pretty emotional and irritable. I felt unfair because I am not the only transfer student from China, and other Chinese universities programs are still working well. I started to complain with my dad, and it usually ended with tears. Every night, my family will have a heart to heart communication via video, and we will discuss what should we do step by step. • 3. Advantages Of The Irc Structures 2.5.1. Practical Limitations Min et al (2011) report that despite the advantages of the IRC structures described above, the cost of SMAs relative to conventional reinforcing materials (such as steel), in conjunction with the large amounts of concrete that are used in practice make IRCs viable for only extremely specialised applications. Due to the thermomechanical propertied of SMAs, the IRC properties may vary with the ambient temperature (Menna et al, 2014; pg33). In addition, as the mechanism of the martensite to austenite phase transformation requires heating, the actualisation of the large scale heating of the IRC poses an extra hurdle to their application. Min et al (2011) also note that certain hydration products of cement are unstable at and following treatment at elevated temperatures, which could lead to uncertainty following treatment for damage recovery. However, control of the stoichiometry of the SMA used may allow the required Af temperature to be low enough to prevent such uncertainties. Heat treatments and cold rolling may also be used to manipulate the transformation properties of SMAs (Mahesh et al, 2009). 2.5.2. Stoichiometric Considerations SMAs are extremely sensitive to changes in composition (Menna et al, 2014; pg33). Small changes can significantly change the mechanical properties of the material and so strict quality control is required to ensure suitable properties. The Ti Ni alloy system is examined in detail above. Various ternary alloys can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Dstopia As A Dystopia In The Giver n society wasn t as perfect as he thought it was. Jonas s community is a dystopia because there is no contact with others outside the community, there is killing of the young and old, and there is no freedom. Jonas s community is a dystopia because they are isolated from everything. The citizens of the community have no knowledge of what animals are and when Jonas tries to tell his sister, Lily, she laughs as stated on page 127 in the novel... did you know that once there really were elephants? Live ones? . She glanced down at the ragged comfort object and grinned. Right. she said, skeptically. Sure Jonas. . This comes to show that Jonas s sister has no clue that there were once living, breathing animals. The inhabitants of his community also have no form of technology, which means they can t communicate with others living outside the community. There are no phones, no TVs, no computers, etc. Their community is totally isolated in terms of technology and using it to communicate with others outside of their community. Not only do they not have technology, but they don t have books. Only two people have books in the whole community Jonas and The Giver. There is also no form of weather, even sunshine. The residents of this community have no idea what rain, snow, and other natural events are. Could you imagine no sunshine? On page 218 it states Jonas had never seen rain which further proves my point on the fact that they have never seen any kind of weather. In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Cultural Relativism Analysis Cultural moral relativism begins with the idea that morality is relative to culture and that a person s beliefs and activities are socially approved customs. Therefore, morality is a matter of actions that are only morally obligatory for a person if it is accepted by that person s culture. Ruth Benedict illustrates the fact that humans have a full range of customs that human behavior is capable of. The selection process is non rational and subconscious, similar to selection process for human speech. Using this analogy, Ruth Benedict was able to prove the cultural moral relativism by showing that nothing underlies customs, nothing by which can be evaluated. Therefore, cross culture judgement are not valid. The scenario states that a colleague ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 7. How Comedy Makes Us Better People Summary In the BBC article How comedy makes us better people Mary O Hara claims comedy holds a very relevant place in not only British politics and culture, but in the entire world because it can be used to comprehend and come to terms with confusing events or tragedies, challenge the authority of our governments, and destroy bigoted states of mind. Humor continues to mystify the people who study it to this day. Why does humor play a major part in our everyday lives? What is the significance of it? O Hara interviews experts from many different fields discussing comedy and its impact on the emotions, politics, and differing points of view. By supplying each point with an array of examples, O Hara manages to show the reader that many beside herself share her points. After planting a statement, O Hara makes sure that she backs up her claims with plenty of evidence. When examining how comedy changes people s views of certain minority groups, O Hara lays out two different examples of real situations where this is put into affect. She touches on the homosexual community, disabled community, and even on a man who shared his experience from being a policeman to expose nonsensical policies (5). By both using multiple resources and sharing numerous examples, O Hara successfully convinced the reader that comedy does indeed hold a very significant place in our ... According to surveys from the American institute of stress (2017), 80% of the workers experience distress at work and half of them prefer to learn to manage stress. In general, job stress is a common issue, which does not only affect organisations but also workers. Noted by Stranks (2005), stress can arise from various sources, including low ambiguity and personal conflicts which are likely to contribute to the inefficiency of organisations and workers, namely, increasing absenteeism or low performances in employees. The essay will primarily discuss the problems and solutions of stress for organisations and individuals, respectively. Subsequently, it will compare the solutions for both sides of view. Thus, this essay will seek the most effective techniques to combat workplace stress at both organisation and individual levels by comparing several alternatives of stress management Unquestionably, modern businesses have become more complex as compared to the past. Such complexity contributes to high pressure at work and Fontana (1997) states that workplace stress can come from several reasons, such as role conflict, frequent clashes with colleagues or superiors and inadequate training. Consequently, these causes might generate detrimental effects to organisations. Referring to EU OSHA (2017), the negative effects include the loss of productivity, the increase in absenteeism and other health related costs. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Jenson wrote, these individuals are weeping teen at the airport glimpsing a rock star, or the roaring, maniacal sports fan rioting at a soccer game (Lewis, p.12). I think this is the type of fans that people often imagine by hearing the word fan . Within frenzied or hysterical crowd, there is two big categories; entertainment fans and sports fans. The point of being frenzied or hysterical crowd is to feel solidarity and to form a community outside of their everyday life. According to the ethnography of Bruce Springsteen fans, the author quoted a meaning of being the Springsteen fan; Ruth Finnegan (1989) has pointed out the importance of people s devotion to certain musical worlds , in which they play in or follow a local musical group or listen to certain musical genre, as a way to shape personal and communal identity (Cavicchi, 1998, p.4). In addition to this general explanation of music fans, Cavicchi explained, among Springsteen fans, the idea of connection means more than just having an affinity for Springsteen s music; it means making the music a deeply felt part of one s life, of having an ongoing, shared relationship with Springsteen the artist (Cavicchi, p.41). Thus among of all Springsteen fans, being a Springsteen fan means not only they like his music, but Springsteen and his music is significant factors to shape their personal and communal ... • 33. Brief History Of Field Hockey Introduction: A Brief History Field hockey s origins can be traced back 4000 years to ancient Egypt, Greece and Persia, although the game, as we have all come to know it, was developed in Britain in the late 19th century (Longstreth, 2014) . It is said to be the oldest team sport in history (Girasole, 2010) . Field Hockey s original name was the ball and stick game. Hockey was initially played with a cube, instead of the ball we use today. Hockey was initially considered to be too dangerous for women, but it became socially accepted when women were allowed to play sports such as lawn tennis and croquette (Girasole, 2010). The first Women s field hockey team was formed in 1887 in England. Hockey made its debut in the Olympics in 1908 and thus the International Hockey Federation was assembled (Girasole, 2010). For example, the training program for a women s hockey team will be different to the training program for a men s hockey team. This would be due to factors such as men having higher testosterone levels, allowing them to build muscle mass faster, and men having lower flexibility, the men would thus have to do more flexibility exercises in order to abstain from injury. Another example would be that the links would have a different training program to the goalkeeper. The links would have a greater emphasis on fitness and speed, while the goalkeeper would have more of an emphasis on flexibility and skill, although fitness would also be a large aspect. It is imperative that a goalkeeper knows how to save a goal and is able to do so without injuring ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Tilted Arc The Destruction of Public Art Tilted Arc (Figure 1) was brought down on the 15th of March of 1989 by the General Services Administration (GSA) in the centre of New York s federal plaza. Tilted Arc was a site specific work of a curved steel wall or barrier, that was 120 feet long and 12 feet high, with an arch that gave the effect of the wall leaning inwards. The GSA commissioned Richard Serra to build a sculpture for the Art in Architecture program that would be placed in the plaza in front of the Jacob K Davits Federal building. The work was set up in 1981 and received a few critical comments. However, it was only when William Diamond, an appointee GSA New York Regional Administrator, started to investigate a bit more that he created substantial arguments against the sculpture to try and relocate it. Tilted Arc then became a controversial piece of work that involved the art world and major associations and resulted in a lawsuit and public hearing in 1985. The main issues that surrounded the controversy relate to the way in which the space was transformed, the rights of the artist, and censorship. In addition, we must question the role of public art in society, if certain works should be considered public art, and the ways in which power and politics can influence the arts.
